Best asana app EXCEPT. TL;DR: Fantastic for home practice, especially if you want to tailor your flow for limited time or mobility. The ONE thing this app lacks is diversity represented in pictures, videos, voices and music. Long form: I’ve been practicing asana for almost 30 years in one form or another, and as the practice gained popularity in the US, I found fewer and fewer studios were offering hatha or restorative flows. While I love a good ashtanga session, I have a chronic condition that dictates whether or not I have a enough energy day to day for a full workout. On top of that, my career often has me traveling or working odd hours. So for many years my studio memberships would lie unused for weeks or months because of a flare up, or because of a job. With DownDog I can practice on the road, for as much time as I have, and tailor my flow for days when I’m just not feeling good. Thanks to this app I’ve been more regular with my asana practice than ever in my life! THAT SAID, its hard to ignore the lack of diverse bodies and voices represented in the app. The developers have done an amazing job of offering different styles; what would REALLY take this app to the next level is for them to tap into the Southeast Asian, Black and Latine communities for more diverse photos, videos, voices and music.

Great for beginners+. This app is a great yoga app, and I am annoyed that many of the practices need to be paid for, I love the ones that don’t require payment. I am very uncomfortableness with how I look physically and with my personality. This app helped me feel better about my physical self and improved my mental state. Thank you Down Dog! Plus I was able to start knowing very fee things about yoga, get flexible, build strength, and get good at it! Im at intermediate one now and Im loving it. Its hard staying consistent though, I am just getting back into it again (I used to do yoga everyday but stopped after Christmas break because my school workload increased second semester, and just started a few days ago). Finally, I really really appreciate Down Dog eliminating membership fees on any practices that once had them (I can do ANY practice now) due to Corona, it was a very kind gesture and Im so excited to try the new practices like flexibility, hamstring stretches, and especially core strength! Thank you!!💖

Thank you creating such an awesome app.. I have started doing yoga using this app for over a month now. I tried beginner 2 but it was easy for me as I have been doing other exercises and I swim, but never tried yoga until then. I started doing intermediated 1 and I fell in love with yoga and the app. The app has very clear explanation and very easy to follow instructions. The level is challenging enough for me. I tried another yoga app for about 2 weeks before I started using down dog and this app is far more superior. I paid for the subscription and thank you for the 30% discount. I like how you can chose full practice or to focus on specific body parts , different types of yoga and different types of music and also choose the duration. The sequence of the poses never repeats. I have referred this apps to many of my friends and relatives already. My husband started doing this, he paid for the subscription as well and he loves it too. Now the part I want to be added on it to be able to adjust the time even after starting the practice. For example today, I set the practice to be 45 minutes but it went by quick and I wanted to add another 15 minutes to the current practice but I couldn’t. Please add that option. Again this is THE BEST YOGA APP.

Game changer!! You gotta get this app!. I never write reviews for stuff but this was too good not to share! I’ve been teaching yoga around 7 years- I teach mon-thurs and I also am a musician who works at night, so finding time for my own practice has been incredibly hard. This app is incredible. There are many options to customize your perfect class. You can choose from video or no video, instructors voice, length of class, length of savasana, difficulty and pace of class, how much “instruction/talking” you want, choice of music (music is awesome btw), you can “favorite” a class to revisit, and you can also pick an area of focus like core or twists, etc.. I was able to purchase the app through their website for $35 for the YEAR. If you’ve been looking through different apps and don’t know which one to choose, look no further. Plus they have a free trial for 3 classes- I only did one class and bought the app right away! So great for traveling too, and there’s also an option to download practices to your device. Great app and awesome price, so glad I took a chance on this one!

Turned this yoga newbie into a yoga junkie. I had never tried yoga before this app... I have always been a HIIT kind of person! But when a medical condition made it dangerous for me to raise my heart rate too much, I was desperate for some physical activity I could do without the danger of stressing my body. I decided to try yoga with this app, and now I wonder why I didn't try sooner! This wonderful app walked this total yoga newbie through her first seamless, awesome 30 minute routine. I felt like I had a personal trainer the whole time. The instructions are super clear. I've now been practicing for 10 days straight and I've never once felt completely lost or confused. I've definitely noticed improvement and have even ventured into Beginner 2 practices a little 😊 I plan on using this app every day so long as it's ok with my doctor. The funny loading screens make me giggle, too. I may even seek out some classes soon... but with this app I feel like that's optional. TL;DR: converted a newbie into a junkie, get this app A++ will brew kombucha again

Worth every penny. I had tried yoga before, and even got to the point that I went about 1x per week for about 6 months. But for lots of reasons, I stopped for several years. About 2 years ago, I really hurt my back, and my doctor said part of the problem was my core was weak. I did some physio, but I never really was able to stick with it because the repetitive nature made it really boring. Then I got Down Dog. I do about 30 min of yoga ~5x a week because it is so crazy convenient. Only have 20 min? It can do that. Want to make it harder? Sure, no problem. Want to focus on something specific (like core strength)? Yup. Want less direction, or more description of what you’re trying to do? It’s got that too. And on top of all that, it’s got a real person doing the poses, so you can see what it’s supposed to look like. This app has everything you want and some things you probably don’t know you want. I can’t say enough good things about it.

DownDog. I love this app/company because it allows me to have a daily yoga practice when I can’t go into a studio regularly. The app handles everything you need in a full practice and even has different versions of yoga practices. A couple problems that I’ve noticed is: 1. When practicing, the instruction from the instructor often does not align with the visual practitioner on the screen. Ie.) “warrior 2 with left arm up and right leg back” often shows actually the opposite on the screen. The person will actually have the right arm up and left leg back (the opposite). So that’s slightly confusing. And 2. The app glitches sometimes. Even with a downloaded practice, the app will glitch and not play smoothly. During a yoga practice, rhythm is a big factor. So, being interrupted by lagging tech can be tedious. Also, when toggling back or forward, it takes the app longer than it should to switch to another pose/position within the given practice. Simply, slow tech. These are the two main fixes I hope to see DownDog improve on, or their competitors strive in. If a competitor performed the above elements better, I would switch my subscription to them. Perhaps this is a simple tech solution. -DG

No detail overlooked!. This is the most phenomenal app on my phone. Idk how they did it. Every detail has been considered to create an unprecedentedly smooth, easy, personalized experience that I want to use every day. There is no part of the yoga practice that is not completely customizable, down to the voice of the guidance and speed of the flow. Speaking of the voice, how is it possible that my entirely personalized practice is generated in a few seconds when I press “start”, but the guidance is so naturally fluid that it basically seems live? Magic perhaps? The completely adjustable timer, so I can do anywhere from a 10 minute practice to 75, at intervals at only 2 minutes…genius! How can I ever argue that I don’t have time for yoga when I could do a full practice in 10 minutes? Even the fact that the app asks you to select the type of music and plays actual pieces by talented artists, some little known; the type of thing that the average user wouldn’t even notice if they were missing, that takes the experience entirely to the next level. I’ll keep telling all this to everyone who will listen. I have never said this about an app before, and rarely say it in life: I am so impressed.

Thank you. Just want to thank the creators of this app. It’s uhmazing! Not only is it free on all levels but there are different kinds of yoga! Restorative, quick flow, short practice, full practice, and even intro to yoga ( for my new to yoga partner!)!!! But there is also different levels of intensity! I can also choose how quick or slow paced I would like my practice to be! It has background music and the option to have full little or no spoken instructions; and these instructions are good! I can keep my eyes closed during my practice and be guided through the entire session! Love the playlist options too!!! Seriously all around my favorite app!! It is the only thing that gets me up before 6 am! And I feel GREAT after practicing. Serious life changer. It’s also great to have on my phone so if my anxiety gets bad at work I can just sneak away and do some quick flow yoga ! Thank you for this app and thank you for making it free!!!!!!!! I love it and recommend it to all my friends!! Thanks for helping me bring yoga into my life! ❤️💜🧡💛💚💙 namaste!

EXCELLENT! I would not change anything about it!. I have only recently begun to go to yoga classes at the local gym. I'm having trouble keeping up with the "Flow" class, and wanted something that I could use at home to up my game. Loving this app! One great thing about it is the number of levels you can choose from (Beginner 1, Beginner 2, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2, and Advanced) before you start each practice. There are also 3 types of yoga to choose from and different lengths of time. That's great for me because sometimes I want to try a 45 minute "Flow", and sometimes when I'm quite busy I can take 10 or 15 minutes to do a "Restorative" practice to just relax. Once you have chosen all of the options you want (Type, Level, Time, Pace, and Music Playlist Type) the sequence is generated for you and you're ready to begin. And, even choosing all of the same options, I have never had the same practice twice. This app is a winner all around!!! (Note: I only have the free version of this app. I'm not sure what purchasing the membership "unlocks" for you.)

What keeps my back and ankle from falling apart. I have been practicing yoga on and off for over 10 years; it began when I walked into a pilates class and the substitute only knew yoga. After years of practicing at the gym I began looking for an app to do anywhere, as my kids are older and their schedules do not coincide with the gym’s all the time. This is the third app I have use for yoga and I have had it for several years. I have lower back issues due to a fall in my early twenties and now scar tissue on my right ankle from missing a step; the wrong move and either injury can leave me out of commission for days. Thanks to this app and its use on a regular basis I have been able to control my ankle issues to the point I don’t need a cane anymore (I am 51yrs old) and I can lift, twist and bend my back with no issues. I love the flexibility that this app gives in terms of time, type of practice and ability to focus on particular areas. The videos are good quality and help double check posture; the verbal instructions are detailed and are great reminders to keep double check how am doing. Well worth the money, only app I need.

Great exercises and variety but glitchy app. My husband and I love both the HIIT and Down Dog apps, and use each every day. We purchased the subscription after trialing it during the COVID quarantine. We absolutely love the variety of exercises- how it’s never the same workout each time. We both feel like we are getting solid workouts in. But the biggest problem we have is how glitchy the apps are; we have the same issue with both. When we attempt to cast the workouts onto our TV, we get about halfway through, and then the app seems to reset itself. Casting immediately ends and the workout returns to the beginning of the session. Sometimes we are successfully able to fast-forward to about where we left off, but other times it seems to crash and force us to start a completely new sequence, which is incredibly frustrating after putting in a solid 15-20 minutes worth of workout. If not for this big issue, this would without a doubt be five stars from us.

Great app - liked previous music. I still love this app but lately some of the savasana music has felt distracting and creepy. One example sounded like a creepy woman voice yelling (sounded like a Halloween witch shrieking into a dying off voice with other high pitched voices) on alt beats (not spiritual where I might understand that working for some cultures) and another sounded like a rattlesnake (again in alt beats, not spiritual where it might work for some.) Today I was thankful that all of the selections were relaxing (and I still like the sung chants that I can drift off to savasana in.) Maybe the music categories could be broken up more for different preferences or cultural needs. Also I had to reduce talking for the new option to just announcing the pose on the new voices because she talks way too much even on limited talking with breath cue so it makes it hard to relax into the breath. I wish the classic voice could be combined with the new options even though the instructions would have less detail. The original voice was more inviting and soothing/relaxing for me personally.

Best app for yoga. I started off with this app a little over a year ago when I wanted to start meditating and centering my mind due to anxiety. I didn’t want to go to yoga classes because they are very expensive and I was afraid of looking dumb and inflexible. I practiced each day for at least 10 min for about 3 months, I then saw a deal on Groupon for some classes at a local yoga studio and I bought it. After the first class the teacher came up to me and said they were happy to see a new face and that they hoped they see me again. They asked me if I had been practicing long and I informed them that I had been practicing for about three months, they then asked WHAT STUDIO I WENT TOO!? Hahah they were surprised when I said it was a app. Down dog! I recommend this app to all my friends and family who want to start their yoga journey. I had their free version on my phone for about 8 months, I now have the paid version because I trusted the app and was willing to pay a small price compared to what i would pay at a yoga studio each month. I was prepared to deepen my practice, and I knew this app would help. Now here I am a year and a half later, loving this app still (using this for a majority of my practice) and anxious to be attending a yoga institute in July 2018 to become a yoga teacher! I love yoga and I Love this app. I cannot stress that enough!

they’re still billing you every month. It’s a nice app to do yoga but I think they’re scamming people into believing it’s free and still charging behind our backs and then making it near impossible to get our money back. It’s not right. Would be a 5 star app but they’ve stolen my money and that’s really gutter. downdog was kind enough to offer a free for schools feature during the economic hardship. Just change the email in your downdog app to your student email and it’s free until July or June 2021. Well I did that and was notified my subscription was successfully converted to the free for schools option in July 2020. I’ve still been billed every single month and neither downdog nor apple are taking responsibility for the issue and are making me jump through hoops to get my money back. Did downdog not notify apple not to bill people who use the free for schools feature they offered? I don’t know and I don’t care. They should fix the problem and send me on my way. Instead I’m stuck in an endless loop of emails in which these two companies are clinging with an iron fist to my $9.99/mo that was erroneously billed for 7 months. Check your account. I bet they’re still billing you too. Yikes.

Update KILLS your Battery, No Fix. For a week or so, my phone’s battery life has been pitiful. Finally, today I sat down to figure out what was draining it. It’s this app. It is using HOURS of background refresh activity which is draining my phone’s battery life. And guess what? THIS APP IS NOT LISTED IN BACKGROUND REFRESH LIST!! So, this means the app is not asking for your permission to refresh in the background. It is simply doing it without your OK. Not acceptable! ——— I LOVE this app, and I use it nearly everyday. Some days, I need to have the practice through my wireless headphones, but the app does not allow me to adjust volume through my headphones. I must go through my phone to adjust the volume for my headphones which is extremely inconvenient during a flow when a new song is just a bit too loud. (Swipe up to unlock, pause practice, adjust volume, relocate the time I stopped to change the volume to ensure I’m not missing a step, rewind, start again... it’s a hassle!) That’s not to mention needing to have my phone next to me. I’m doing yoga-the whole point is to get away from my phone. Having the ability to adjust volume as the songs change in type over the practice would take this app to the next level for me, personally. This seems to be its only flaw. But it’s a really big one for me.

Down Dog lover. I downloaded this app because I started yoga and am a dog lover, an interesting combo, I know. I was using another yoga app that I thought I really liked. However you could only do the same 5 workouts unless you "unlocked" (aka purchased) the monthly subscriptions so I was quite bored after a few weeks. I really like the "flow" tempo in the app because it gives you a little bit of an elevated heart rate without having to run or go to the gym. I'm not avoiding those things because of laziness. I have a condition that limits the intensity I can work out at. I used to love running and lifting weights. Well I have to say, after 3.5 years since I last stepped in a gym or gone for a good run I've finally found a workout that's both safe for my health and an amazing workout!! The flexibility of pace, level, speed, etc. makes it so versatile for my pain level, time allotment, and energy that day. From first seeing that smiling doggy icon to practicing with the app for several weeks, I'm fully committed to Down Dog!! Thank you so much Down Dog for helping me regain my self and finding a perfect fit for my life!!🐶

Grateful. I’m very thankful to have the opportunity to use this app. I couldn’t afford the full version but the people from down dog let me tell them my story and I received the full version for free for a period of time plus a discount when I’m ready to join . I’ve struggled with addiction most of my life . During those times the only thing that gave me any relief was exercise . One day my best friend , my wife , introduced me to yoga . It gave me something my soul yearned for . Yoga along with the love of my wife and family gave me something bigger than myself to believe in. I couldn’t afford classes anymore and I took time off for a hip replacement . That’s when I discovered Down Dog. With so many choices of what I want to focus on and with the beautiful music and soothing instruction from the teachers I don’t need a yoga studio . When I can’t sleep at night I’ll come out and practice yoga on my own. It helps me settle down . I don’t seep a lot due to trauma and the damage to my brain from drugs . But Yoga helps me . It helps me sleep . It quiets my mind during the day. It puts me in touch with emotions I could never seem to get out . I am very grateful to everyone involved in the down dog community . To me This app is definitely worth the membership . Thank you all and thank you to my beautiful for giving me a reason Down Dog is changing my life

Best yoga app I've used. I'm astounded. They got it all right with this app, and it's hard for for me to find the patience for yoga. The process and the way I feel afterward is amazing, and I never feel patronized, pseudo-spiritual, or like I'm trying to be a soccer mom. From the language used in the narration, the soothing yet energizing voice, the musical selections (and option for no music) the quality of the images.. I'm just really happy with Down Dog. Evidently there are in app purchases, but I probably wouldn't have realized that if it wasn't indicated on the app description. It's not in-your-face at all - I'm going to have to go back and search for them. And I will, because the quality of the free product is so amazing. Maybe I sound like I'm gushing- it's just that I have never had the patience for yoga before. It was one of those things I thought I maybe "should" do. I have used this app 5 times in 7 days, and always feel amazing afterwards. UPDATE: it's over a year later, and I'm still using and loving Down Dog. I also paid for the upgrade, mostly because I wanted to support them so much, but it also unlocked some great features. I am impressed with how the app has evolved and how responsive the team is. Even when life is at its most chaotic, I can fit their 10 minute sessions in every night before I go to sleep, and longer sessions during the day whenever I can. Thank you, Down Dog!

Really happy I found this App !!!. Update: still love this app! 🥲not a single complaint on my end As someone who normally HATES yoga, this app has shown me that I actually do like it (a lot), I just wasn’t enjoying the classes I was taking. I’ve always felt really in my head during most yoga classes (in person or online) because of the instructor voices + the music played. I was really happy to see there were multiple options for both instructor voice and music in this app!! I currently have it on the Mars voice and Nature sounds. It is THE BEST right before bed. Honestly, this app is my new favorite thing. They are currently running an offer due to the pandemic, and I really appreciate them opening up their app for people to use for free. Now that I’m working from home I feel my back is constantly in pain and in need of a good stretch. I also feel like this app helps me stay active while indoors. I 100% plan on becoming a paying customer afterwards.

This app has made me fall in love with yoga!. I downloaded and tried every yoga app I could find on the App Store and none of them can hold a candle to this one. First, unlike the others, this app is fully functional, with an unbelievable number of options (including music), and free. Not temporarily, not with things you have to buy to actually have a full practice... free... right out of the gate. Secondly, the practices are amazing! The voice that talks you through each pose and breath is the perfect mix of relaxing and encouraging, without that sort of snobbish tone that I found some had. I am a beginner at yoga but, since finding this app, I have found I am completely in love. I practice every day. I’ve begun meditation, I’ve purchased things to make my yoga space welcoming and supportive, and I’ve already seen a huge improvement in how well I can do each pose. Seriously, don’t bother with any of the other apps... I’ve tried them... download this one and find your way to downward facing dog!

Restorative and Yin Yoga ♥️🙌🏼. I have a lot of spinal issues due to harsh overuse as I’ve been a CNA and VA for the past 10 years. My coworker friend got me into hot yoga 4 years ago to help me minimize the cortisone injections I was frequently getting, Physical Therapy, and massage therapy. It was drying my bank account with medical bills and missing work. Not to mention the anxiety, depression, and frustration due to the extra stress. When Covid started at the end of 2019 I wasn’t able to go out as much as I have a weak immune system and am allergic to the main antibiotics. I got sick regularly and it would last forever even before covid. I love Down Dog it is so affordable and I get to do it at home whenever I want which has been keeping me healthier and saving money. I love the ability to see proper demonstration and the calm verbal instructions with cues for breath and with serene music. The fact that they have different voices and Restorative slower yoga with less challenge has allowed me to build up and destress my body and mind. I feel peaceful and healthy after these sessions ♥️

For remote practitioners who want to improve. Being in a place without any yoga community and spotty internet, I tried out several yoga apps. This one is simple and elegant, and with a focus on improving your practice. Never boring and easy to grow your skill. I feel it’s really aimed at people who really want to practice yoga as an integral part of well-being, instead of just another type of superficial workout. The coaching voice is so soothing and I keep it on full instruction to take advantage of the timely reminders to self-correct. The generated videos are ridiculously seamless, and shows the transitions between the poses clearly. And, required for me, you can download sequences to use offline. It is not overwhelming with unnecessary bells and whistles. Their beginner app is a delight as well and is a great introduction (or re-introduction) for those who may not have recently been on the mat. The one thing I could recommend may be the option to have a chime or bell when it’s time to transition to the next pose as a cue to look at the screen. But overall, this has been the first yoga app I have stuck with since the dawn of iphones. Thank you!

Best yoga app ever - saving me money and time!. I have been a fair weather yogi mainly because of time and money...living in LA has many varieties of yoga, but parking and traffic make it had to justify the cost sometimes. This app has been a godsend. I started with the free app, and decided within a month to just cough up the $20 for a year to be able to customize the practice...and I wasn’t disappointed! In fact, I was overly impressed how much focus (and variety) the shoulder practice has, I’m sure it has helped my shoulder pain immensely. And because I mainly do my yoga practice with my eyes closed, I also love the step by step instruction (but with the premium you can turn this off if it’s not for you!) While there is no teacher to correct your poses, I have been to too many studios where it is overcrowded and they never get to you anyway. So for the cost of 1(!) yoga class, you can have hundreds at your disposal, anytime, anywhere, minus the traffic and parking! Do yourself a favor and download this app! Your body will thank you!

I can yoga now!!. Before trying this app I ran. I would run for 30-40 minutes a day, trying to lose weight and get back in shape (I took a couple years off with four kids at home). I’m 37, and running just wasn’t doing what I wanted it to do. My legs were slim and toned, but my back and upper body were weak and without definition. My friend suggested yoga. With four kids and two jobs (and a husband who travels), going to a studio every day was out of the question. I downloaded this app based on the reviews and tried the first two free classes and was hooked! I started at beginner 1 and I’m now up to beginner 2 (a month later). I try and do one workout a day, but sometimes miss a day or two. I do this in my living room or family room with the kids with me or joining me for parts- it’s so unbelievably easy to do at home! And after a month, I’m able to do most of the moves on my level and I feel stronger. I’m seeing a difference in my arms and back, and I’m so happy that I have this app to help me get a powerful workout in at home. I cannot recommend anything more. If you’re thinking about this- don’t hesitate. You’ll love it.

Beginners. I have cycled through so many apps and finally found this one after months of searching. I have never been the type to do yoga or anything of the sort ( trust me) but following a traumatic loss of a loved one and physically just being riddled with body, back, neck and arm pain from years of hard labor (roofing, tiling and now a chef) my body as a whole felt like it was falling apart. At first I gave simple beginner yoga a try and just the way either the person was instructing or the moves they were doing felt beyond what I could do at the time so I kinda was starting to give up. I gave this one a try and I gotta say it’s easy to follows the female instructors voice I chose to follow is clear in instructions and just all around soothing to hear the movements have helped me 10 fold my body hurts less my anxiety about my health has lessened since really starting this I recommend to anyone it is worth whatever plan you chose to pay. The only single thing I have found wrong is that sometimes the track playing in the background while listening to headphones every once in a while lags a bit but honestly I’m just the type that notices little things like that but the music and background noise is so soothing to listen too I recommend this app to anyone at any age!!!

Excellent Yoga App. I tried this app on a friends recommendation as I had been using a different one for quite awhile. This app is way above any other yoga app I have tried. It has many choices for difficulty level, even more selections for type of practice and time (full, short etc) with times ranging from 12 minutes to 110 minutes. The spoken instructions are easy to understand. The upgrade to buy after the trial is to change the type of music as well as having a certain "boost" such as hamstring opening, heart opening, strength etc and it very may well be worth the $50 for the year. What I love the most is that no two classes are ever exactly the same. It generates new sequences and keeps the practice fresh. The other app I was using had static classes, and while that worked, I much prefer this app with the ability to have a different class every time. My only complaint on the free version is that the default music "alt beats" is very loud and often drowns out the spoken instructions. I sent feedback to the developer about this so we will see if they change that or at least allow a bit more volume control with the unpaid version. This app is so smooth and simple to use, kudos to the instructor and the developer on a job very well done!

Easy to Use and Generous Company. I started using this app when my gym and yoga classes were shut down due to COVID-19. Being a full time clinical grad student, I have a very limited budget, and this company was gracious enough to give teachers and students free 3 month trials. As my trial was reaching its end, I was sad to think I couldn’t afford this monthly bill on top of my other bills that are coming back due to reopening. Just got an email today saying they are extending the free period for students/teachers to JANUARY 2021! I’m thrilled!!! What a generous company that understands not everyone can afford the big price tag that often accompanies studios and Western yoga practices. They make yoga accessible, as it should be! On top of being a generous company, the app is easy to use and modify to your wants and needs! Depending on your mood they offer everything from yin to full vinyasa and everything in between! It’s so easy to modify speed, length, voice, music, focus areas (e.g., glutes, core, shoulders, etc.). I’m so appreciative of everything this app offers, and that I’ll continue to be able to afford it throughout the rest of the year!

It does the job for me!. I like how I can customize the practice options. Length, focus on a body part or function, type of music, speed, instructor, and more. I have mine on beginner 1 and still find some of the pose suggestions a bit advanced. I wish like most classes I’ve been to in person they had instruction that started basic, and then options to increase the postures (the video instructors are able to perform them well so if I can’t bend or move like they can it’s hard to know the right but “lesser” pose options. As a beginner I love the reminders for breathing sprinkled in as well as reminders to adjust the posture so you are getting it correct. Sometimes the flows seem repetitive with a LOT of down dog, plank, up dog, down dog sequences in a row - but maybe this is a style I’m just not familiar with in the “in person” classes I’ve taken. I love that you can also lengthen shavasana at the end or even remain listening if you forgot to lengthen it. Overall the app is a deal if you buy in during the holidays and works great for an at home option to get you through the week of you can’t make or can’t afford a group lesson.

My Absolute favorite. This app is so near and dear to me, I cannot begin to even give an accurate written review because it lives in my heart(without words). It’s a moving meditation for me from the moment I hear the voice, have rolled my mat out and then awaken from my savasana. I choose the spiritual music setting and close my eyes.. in the sunshine under the trees. I’ve used this app while in the woods camping. It’s a treasure on my phone, in my pocket. I adore yoga.. this app took that feeling and quadrupled it. With the pandemic, I’ve done Insta workouts/yoga, zoom yoga and a few social-distanced outdoor classes. Coming back to down dog is like coming back home. The ONLY ONLYYY thing that I can think of to offer for advice that would make this amazing app give me everything, would be to have a yoga sculpt option in the active settings. I have my favorite virtual yoga sculpt teachers(body weight and hand weight)elsewhere.. having that option here would just be incredible. Great app Down Dog, thank you thank you for all that you do🙏Namaste🧡

Practices I Can’t Stay Away From. I’ve been practicing yoga for about 4~ years now, and this was recommended to me about a year ago by a yoga teacher. It has easily become one of my favorite ways to do yoga at home! The app gives many options before you start your practice. There are lots, but to name a few: you can pick how long the practice is, what voice you’d like to be instructed in, what kind of practice whether that be Yin or a full Vinyasa Flow. One of my favorite features is that you can select music from a list of genres, and the songs match the beat of your workout! It tells you the song and artist on the screen in a non-obstructive way, and gives a song list at the end of the practice! I’ve found a lot of new favorite songs through this app! I can share practices I really liked with friends and family by sharing a link, too! The app has several notable features that I think are worth checking out for yourself! They give you a free trial to try it before you commit, and I really fell in love with it during my trial!

Good app but the description of difficulty levels seems completely wrong.. If you’re a true beginner like myself, then pretty much everything over the lowest settings will seem advanced. Even after several months of practice I find I can’t really do more than the beginner modes and even beginner 2 can be too much, making me skip poses. It would help if the instructor would give you alternative poses to get the desired stretch. Maybe it’s a slower process than I’m envisioning but some of the poses in beginner modes have the model bending like a pretzel, touching toes, head down by their ankles, full splits. It’s honestly hilarious the expectation that a complete beginner can do some of the chosen poses with the speed and repetition (even on the slowest, most descriptive settings possible) going on in this app. It’s admittedly very discouraging. I wish you could remove certain poses from your practice because some of them I just know I will never be able to achieve. TLDR: This app is great for intermediate and maybe advanced people. This app is hardly beginner friendly but I have still enjoyed it as a complete beginner. Worth it, all things considered but I don’t think all beginners would like it.

Great for beginners to explore yoga. I started Down Dog yoga in July 2020 during quarantine. I had always wanted to do yoga and had one class 10 years ago. I love this app for three reasons: you can customize it, it offers so much variety, and you can explore yoga styles. Customizing: length of practice, amount of verbal instruction, different boosts (aerobic, hips, etc.) music type, level of “difficulty”, etc. Variety: even if you stay at the same level with the same settings, each practice is a little different so you do familiar poses but don’t get completely bored. Types of yoga: The different types allow for days when I want a full practice to days when I just want deep stretching. I paid for a subscription after the free three-week trial and have been using it several times a week ever since. I am now starting to explore DD HIIT, DD Barre, and DD Meditation, which come with my subscription. I love this app and enthusiastically recommend it. There is also a supportive community group on Facebook that helps others fine tune poses and offers encouragement.

So impressed. Not only is the production value top rate, but the ability to customize your workout on all levels is outstanding. Length of time, style of yoga, difficulty/experience level. What kind of music (or no music in my case). The type of voice. How much/little instruction is needed. You can dial it in so you get exactly what you need. I just set up a home gym in my garage. On days I’m going to do more intense lifting/boxing workouts I’ll use this app to do a 20 min warm up and get my body stretched and ready. On off days from the intense workouts ol use this app to do a 60 or 90 minute yoga practice to stretch my aching muscles and keep my body moving. Just an FYI - I did take yoga for many years in the past at a good studio, so I do have a foundation and am not a total newbie- mileage may vary a bit if you’ve never done toga before, but with the model as a visual example and set to the most detailed instruction, I bet you’d be fine. This app is going to be a mainstay of my fitness practice.

Good so far - but not all bodies welcome?. I am an older adult, getting back into yoga after years away. I appreciate that I can try this app for free. I am still undecided about whether to commit to it. I would really like to see more variation in the bodies doing the poses—nonwhite, older, fatter. Surprised that the beginner flow, 30 Minutes, slow, has us suddenly and immediately do challenging poses like Warrior iii with no advice about how to work toward that balancing / strength pose if you’re not quite there yet. (I have some ideas from earlier classes but it helps to be giving a quick warning / permission to move to a wall if you need support). The only pose where an alternative of using a wall was offered was for waterfall pose, which is fine, but that pose seems considerably less challenging for most bodies than many of the other poses in the beginner flow. So obviously probably no true beginner should work outside the studio from the start, but it also seems like all of this sends unwelcoming signals to anyone who is not white, young, fit, slim, and already very strong.

Love this app, best yoga routines. I’ve been using the app since 2020 on and off since the the start of the pandemic. I originally found out about it from my brother in 2018, when I started my yoga journey at a local studio near my house. However, with things studios closing and prices going up to cover the effect of what happened, I decided to download this while I was at home. You can pick what you what to focus on, the pace you want to go, whether you want a full practice or a quick flow, and it generates a new workout each time. Whether I want to do a quick 15 min or a 45 full practice, it’s got everything and I never get sick of the workouts cause it’s always changing. You can practice with or without music, and change the voices of the instructor. I have literally nothing bad to say about this app, super impressed. To top it off with a cherry, I was going through some financial struggles with my car being totaled and I saw that they had an option for having a membership but not being able to afford it. I figured what’s the worst they could say and it’s always worth a shot. They gave me the app free for 6 months and a discount upon the 6 months ending for the year! Seriously, amazing people, I am so immensely grateful and will tell everyone about this app, nothing but positive love and vibes over here. PS: I have also tried their other apps like barre and hit, but by far, the original down dog is my fav!

Fits like a great pair of yoga pants. The thing I love about this app is its customization. I was a little disappointed when I discovered that the voices were AI generated, but then I realized that the AI was really well done so it doesn’t quite feel canned. The nearly infinite customization erased all the irritations I have had with home video yoga. When you customize it’s not too hard or too easy, too long or too short, too slow or too fast, doesn’t have annoying music or a voice you can’t stand, and if it is any of those things you can change your settings for next time. One feature I’m looking forward to trying is the like/dislike pose feature - good for injury recovery! Even with the same settings the workout is different every time. Right now as an overweight middle-aged woman recovering from back surgery whose yoga practice has seen much better days, I can still feel challenged without feeling defeated - and the app supports momentum toward better things in the future. Well done, I enjoy this app and once more have started looking forward to my practice. Excuses are gone and progress and enjoyment are happening.

Best Yoga App!. I used Down Dog while they were offering the app for free due to the COVID crisis, and I fell in love. Easy to use, excellent for any level, and really the best features such as selecting the sounds/music you’d like to hear, the voice of the instructor speaking, how much the instructor says during the practice, how long the practice will be, and my personal favorite it the ability to customize the actual practice. This customizable feature is what really sets this app apart from others like it. You are able to select something specific you’d like to add a bit of focus to during your practice, such as neck stretches, flexibility, core strength, etc. Between that feature and the variety of the flows (although you can always save a practice if you really liked it and access it again) I knew as soon as I tried this app that I would remain a customer even after the free trial ended. So I just purchased the yearly and I encourage you to do this same if you are on the fence about buying this app, just do it!!! It’s worth it!

Anyone can do Yoga with down dog. This app is so great for beginners (or people who have been beginners several times over and never made it past that phase🙋🏻‍♀️). It’s easy to use and understand. I like that you can change how much instruction/ sound or music you need. I LOVE the boost options for when some places are just tight as hell and you need to hold that pose! And breathe, girl! I’m the type that needs a lot of specific instruction so the combo of the video, the narrative instructions, and the ability to choose the pacing, it feels like I actually have the time to focus on my breath! I love this app. Also, you can pick how long you want it to be. Anywhere from like 5 min to over an hour and every increment in between. So I never wanna do it and I’m like “ok, but I can do just 5 minutes.” And then after 5 minutes I’m like “woah, I need more!” And then I usually end up doing another slightly longer practice. Mars is my favorite instructor voice☺️.

Thoughtfully designed. This app is a pleasure to use. The instructor is very clear, and gives separate instructions for the left and right sides, something that is very helpful for more complicated poses. I was at first put off by the use of photos rather than the video, but after some use I do not miss the video at all, and it is nice not to require the bandwidth and the storage. The app is very stable; I have not encountered any bugs aside from a small display issue in 2.0. I like the range of choices for difficulty level, as well as the duration selections. The addition of Boost, which allows you to choose a body areas to focus on, is great - I'm really happy they added this and it's clear the app is continuing to improve. I previously used FitStar Yoga, and became quite frustrated when trying to select times, not to mention all the bugs. There are a lot of music choices, more than I need, but I did find that soft instrumental worked for me. The levels of the music are somewhat variable, so sometimes the music is too soft and sometimes too loud, but it is tolerable. Finally, of course, it's great that there is a new routine every time you use the app. Highly recommended!

Tailored to Your Needs. I had been using Down Dog for a while and liked it so much I decided to pay the yearly subscription for access to all of their apps - I am excited to try out their Barre app this week. The best feature of Down Dog is you can ADJUST almost everything: - music volume vs instructor’s voice - a new practice is created everyday, OR you can “heart” a particular routine you like and choose to do it again from your list of favorites - style of music - length of practice (in minutes) - pace (slower or faster) - style or focus of your practice (salutations, aerobic, flexibility, core strength, backbends etc) - amount of directions! (I love that they offer a level where they just say the name of the pose! But I used to use the level where they explained everything about each pose when I first got into yoga so I could really learn the correct postures.) One suggestion I have would be to see if they could add one more feature where you could select a body part that is injured or weak so that the yoga practice would omit certain poses based on that feedback. Or if they could add a section where they have explanations of ways to adjust for those injuries (like articles or pictures or videos), or tips on how to strengthen those areas, that would be really cool! I am not injured, but I think it would be pretty cool to have a section where they show you how to “train” to build up strength or flexibility to reach certain poses.

Best yoga app out there. I love this app so much that my friends sometimes think I get a sales commission on it, when I talk about it. It’s like having your own personalized yoga coach, right in the comfort of your home. Everything is customizable, and the sessions change every time you use it, so it never gets repetitive. There are also *so many* different types of yoga offered, so you can also change that when you feel like you want something a little different. I mainly use the Full Practice, but when I’m not feeling very get-up-and-go-y, I switch to the Restorative one for just a bit of stretching. You can also set the amount of time you want in your session, how long you want savasana, your pace, how much instruction you want… really everything. The instruction and voices are also great. I’ve been using this for nearly 3 years almost daily, and I still love it. If you’re looking for a new app, this one is worth it.

Transformative. Just completed my first 30 min. Beginner session. As an on again off again, VERY tight yogi who would rather run than stretch, I have neglected going to a studio for a few years now. (Did I also mention I'm over sixty and have moderate spinal stenosis?). If I could underscore the word 'tight' it would still be an understatement. Although I've tried other apps because I can't seem to get motivated to go to my favorite studio, nothing seemed to captivate me. Wow! Enter Downdog!!! This felt just like a true studio class (especially with the music as other apps are missing this feature). Instruction was clear, video was teal life, and voice/music was perfect. I especially like that I just chose a timeframe and skill level and Downdog did the rest. It's why other apps left me cold. I don't want to put my own sequence together, I don't know how. That's why I would go to a studio! Can't say enough good things about this app without sounding like I'm on their payroll! Thank you so much for offering such a powerful tool to enhance people's quality of life! Feel like my flexibility goals are much more attainable with your app.

My Fav, Never boring, sense of timelessness. I have tried many yoga apps and videos over the years in my practice, but I have never come across one that gives you a sense of the unknown every day. The beauty of this app is that in each day's practice you don't know what comes next so your mind has nothing to anticipate and can be more present. This also brings timelessness to the practice and an hour goes by without you realizing it. This is what is so lovely about this app. And of course...the great sequences, soothing and supportive voice, the boosts, ability to play music or not, tracking of your history, choice of practice style, length of practice and speed of practice, and amount of vocal instruction. I tend to like no music, and am experienced enough to have minimal instruction. I like that I can choose this more soundless approach because it supports my intention of presence & focused meditative awareness of the physical, internal, energetic, and mental mechanations playing out as I practice. Truely a well thought out App. Stellar :)

Best App for Yoga. I would like to state that I usually do not write reviews for any app, but I feel this one deserves a HUGE review for changing my lifestyle. I downloaded this app during quarantine because my gym closed and I needed something to do. I am a teacher, so I experienced a high level of stress and anxiety during this shutdown and thought yoga might help. This app changed my life! The easy to use platform and the gradual increase of difficulty had transformed my flexibility, stress, and mental health. I use this app every day before work to help me wake up and get refreshed. I recommend this app to every teacher and have referred much of my school staff to this app. I will be using it for life and will continue to tell every teacher the benefits of this app on your life. I have even used some of the poses and breathing techniques on my students and have seen a huge transformation on their overall stress, energy, and focus. Teachers MUST get this app to help with their stress and overall mental health. It is a lifesaver and it is free right now! Thank you Down Dog for supporting teachers and creating an app that helps our health and budgets! You are amazing!

Applause for the creators of this app. I absolutely love this app. I’ll try my best to put it into words, but guys have created what a safe space can be in an app. Ultimate peace. I absolutely love the design and interface as well. The fact there’s at least 10 different voices to choose from shows how much effort and love was put into making this app. The many many different flows of yoga to choose from, and the descriptions of each one…perfect to understand and I feel smart reading them because I’m learning new and different types of yoga. Everything is so well put together and it makes enjoying this app so easy that I want to pay the team because you guys deserve it. Anyways, right now I’m struggling a bit and I think $10 a month is completely fair if not underpriced, but you guys are so sweet for even making this section in the first place. I lost my job due to Covid and my car broke down months ago, first the alternator, then thermostat, then the starter haha, so I haven’t had the best luck with her. I struggle with BPD (borderline personality disorder) and it’s been hard even thinking about getting a job with everything going on. This app brings me so much joy and it helps when I’m depressed and overthinking. You guys have created what Zen physically embodies. I thought I’d right here just explaining my financial situation but you guys have blown me away with every part of this app, you thought of it all and I have to say be proud of yourselves!

Download it ASAP. I have so many nice things to say about this app but the most important thing that I can say is that I've found my safe space. I've found a way to transform my living room, the park, a hotel room, a cramped Brooklyn hallway, a rooftop or the beach into a private meditation space. It has truly changed my life and the way i live it, especially during these peculiar times. I downloaded the app in 2017 when I was unemployed and couldn't afford a yoga studio membership or class. Since then Ive been in 2 car wrecks, started physical therapy / acupuncture, gained (& lost) and regained employment, joined a yoga pilates studio, rejoined the gym, and moved from BK to LA but one thing has remained a constant in my life - using this app. I'm not one to over praise technology -- in fact I resent it often and try to avoid it as much as possible, however I am not a fool and acknowledge the ways in which technology has eased a lot of things in our modern lives -- this is one of them. Don't overthink it just download the app and try. You will be surprised at how much you can do and before you know it you'll be advanced. God Bless You!

Best app ever!. *Update 9/3 As a yoga instructor this is my favorite app to continue a personal practice which can be difficult sometimes. I use it to explore different types of yoga and I love the added Yoga Nidra! Having prenatal anxiety I struggled to find an affordable app to help me with a guided meditation. This is the perfect option and I love being able to customize my Nidra to what I want to focus on!! I love this app! I don't have a lot of time to go to a studio class because of work, nor do I have a lot of money to go to the studio everyday. This app allows me to really enjoy yoga on my own time and if I only have the strength to do 15 minutes for restorative flow this app allows me to do it all! Quick on your feet flow when I'm rushing in the morning with the flexibility to allow me to do 90 minute flow on the weekends with full practice. I would recommend this app to anyone new or advanced. The app grows with you and has amazing advance features when you become a member! The music is amazing. The new advanced technology is really making the app accessible for all levels with a change in options for instructional voices with different styles. Love it!

So far so good!. I have been practicing yoga on and off for 10 years and just started up again with a small class once a week. I wanted to supplement my class practices at home with something I could do daily. I have used other yoga apps before but they were ‘meh’. I like this one as you have a real person narrating, you can see them in the poses and you have a music selection. You can do a full on hour long practice or a quick 10-20 minute one. You can do beginner or advanced (I am beginner/intermediate). I have done about 4 practices so far with this app. The only thing I would caution folks about is to be sure you are doing things correctly. I cannot stress enough the helpfulness of a real class with a real teacher to tell you when you are not in a pose correctly, or maybe alternate forms of the pose if you have neck, shoulder, hip, whatever issues. This statement is not for just this app but for anyone who wants to start yoga and think it is a good idea to do it via app only without instruction. You can hurt yourself. Instruction also helps you improve your yoga ability. One awesome thing that could be added is a meditation ‘set’ here. Say at the end of a short stretching yoga practice, spend say about 5-10 minutes with a guided meditation. Something to think about but in no way detracts from this app. Maybe it is here already and I have not found it yet. I know there are separate apps for this. Namaste!

3 days so far and 5 stars. I made a commitment to myself to start doing yoga but I didn’t know where to start. I actually have Fitbit premium so I tried a couple of their guided sessions and they were just way too fast. I found this app after a google search for “slow yoga” and as a complete 100% beginner, the slowest setting on this app is perfect for me. Today is my 3rd day, I’ve been doing the most basic Sun salutations flow and I can already feel myself becoming more flexible and comfortable/familiar with some of the yoga poses. I think the one thing that would make this app better is if there was a library of poses with instructions on how to do them/tips on good form. The instructions in the videos are helpful but I found that downward dog, one of the foundational yoga poses, was very hard for me. I am not very flexible (yet) and I thought my stiff hamstrings were limiting me. It wasn’t until I googled more about the pose that I started doing it right and focusing less on getting my heels to the floor and more on making sure my hips, core, and shoulders were all where they were supposed to be. I’m a cheapskate but I have a feeling that after my free trial I’ll be purchasing the subscription! Yoga is fun!

Love it!!. I’ve been a subscriber for down dog for years but only intermittently used it. Down dog has seen me through 2 pregnancy’s and recently has become the majority of my workout regime!! I’m now doing 10-50 minutes a day with 1 or two workouts. I generally do a strength (the Tabata style) in the morning for 15-20 minutes and the recovery floor yoga at night 15-20 minutes most nights. Of course life gets on the way but I’ve made a pact for a minimum of one 10 minute session at least per day. It is doing wonders to my body, I look better than I do before I had my babies (and I’m eating!!) I also am as supple as I was when I was 20, having had to increase my level to make it harder and I love it, I sometimes struggle to sleep if I try to skip my night yoga, and I love it as a wind down with a nice glass of wine. At 34 I’ve never felt better. I do swim 1.5km per week but most of my fitness comes from this app, cannot suggest more!! I’ll be a lifetime subscriber!!

Won’t let you cancel subscription, no support available. I don’t want to leave a bad review, I really don’t. I LOVED this app. But after a neck injury forced me to stop yoga, I decided to cancel my subscription — however, I can’t! The account is linked to a Facebook account I no longer have so I have no way of logging in. And if you can’t log in, you can’t access support from the company. I’ve tried a few different ways of contacting them but they only reply to paying customers. (Which obviously I am, but without logging in, they don’t know this. Ugh.) If I get a reply, I’ll delete this, but currently I’m stuck with a subscription I can’t use and no way of getting out of it.

Brilliant yoga app. I had been using another app every morning and when its conditions changed I looked for something new. Well I couldn't be more happy. Sometimes you need a push to change and certainly something better come along. Because I do yoga as soon as I get up I start with a restorative sequence for 15-20 mins and then follow with a quick flow for 10-15 mins. The instructions are clear and I love the way a different sequence comes up. I'm 66 and absolutely love this app. It is invigorating and a great start to my day. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Highly recommend!. Have recommended this app to all my friends and family, and they all have been using it since. Love that you can choose your level of experience, and your choice of music which I have shazamed almost every song that comes up, probably not recommended while you are doing your practice but pretty sure the app also provides the list of songs that were played if you were interested. It’s a thumbs up for me!

Downdog is a gift to human kind. I love this app soooo much! They are really generous with the free features too, I haven’t needed to upgrade. The yoga routines are really good and the music is awesome I’ve discovered so many songs from my yoga work outs. They make it really easy to save your favourite songs in your streaming service of choice too. You can specify how long you want your work out to be in 5 min increments and what level of difficulty. I’ve gradually been increasing the level of difficulty and I feel a real sense of achievement about my increase in flexibility and strength. 10/10

Yoga every night!!. I begun to do yoga almost every day thanks to down dog. It gives a nice ending to my day (i replaced watching tv with doing yoga in the evening now and feel much better). I really enjoy the level and choice of poses. With the gradual change in my practice session I am feeling progression and little boredom or repetition. The voice overs are calming (I use carina) and I can choose the length, music, focus and style. I very rarely give reviews but I really feel like this is one of the best apps on my phone. I definitely feel gratitude towards it.

Great for unpredictable schedules. I have had this app for maybe 3 years now and use it pretty consistently. I love how customisable the workouts are. It is also the best thing since sliced bread for convenience, young kids and shift work mean I can never commit to a regular class so this suits me perfectly. I recommend it to all my friends. The kids love doing it with me or rather using me as climbing equipment while I do my workout. Thanks to the creators so much for making such a functional and beneficial app. 😁😁😁

Much much much better than a yoga class. I have been enjoying this app for about 2 years now. Every single session has news positions and new challenges. I have always gotten bored with traditional yoga classes - not only were they overpriced in comparison but it was always the same thing. Down Dog is absolutely fantastic. I have regained all my core strength after surgery and I am in much better shape than ever. Can’t beat the price. Honestly the best thing on this earth. Thank you Down Dog Team! I have been recommending your app to all my friends/coworkers.

My loyal daily exercise companion. I had put of starting yoga for 2 years the excuses were many, one being I had to find the perfect studio environment and instructor. I found down dog and the excuses faded away, love the app, the detailed instructions and pictures of poses are brilliant for me the beginner. I plan to get the paid version as soon as I master some of the poses. The app has allowed me to practice yoga everyday from anywhere. I travel for work and having the app has allowed me to continue my morning routine and yoga mastery from hotel rooms. Brilliant app 🙏🏼

I am very happy. My friend recommended me the Down Dog app in the midst of the coronavirus lock down in Bondi Australia. It has been my best ally in keeping me grounded as I am a front line worker in Mental Health. The voice used is very calming and I can notice a big difference in my body and mind only after 2 weeks. I also like that it has the option to ‘boost’ different aspects of the practice. I would recommend this application to anyone who wants a stronger body and a more settled mind, especially during these monumental times of COVID-19.

Holy smokes! I love this app. I love this app. I had to give it a second chance, as the trial version froze, and I tried another (super expensive) app — but it lacked the customisation & simply MUSIC. I got the $20 annual deal which came through - and I would happily go with full price, I just needed to road test a few others. What do I love? 1. The easy way to select duration - even your savasana length! 2. Voice choice!!!!!! I’m on Isaiah at the moment. 3. Style / speed. If I’ve left it late, I’ll do the Restorative ... but I’ll at least DO the practice. 4. I’m not alone here - the variety! Every sequence is different, and yet every sequence just flows! 5. Most of all - I read up on the creators. I love a “real, in it with passion” maker story, and this is surely it! Bravo team down dog!! The only thing I’d say is the logo doesn’t reflect the caliber of this app. The name is 🤘🏻superb. The look doesn’t match what’s inside the box. Keep doing great things!!

Love love love this app. I’ve always wanted to increase my flexibility and I’m absolutely rubbish at sitting in the same stretch for 30-60 seconds three times through blah blah and this app has worked wonders for my flexibility. 15 minutes a day four times a week and I can see improvements in every area. I love that you can choose different difficulties and specifics you want to work on. I do wish there were a few more options for specifics to work on such as upper body (shoulders and chest) and back flexibility with backbends. Maybe even a specific one for splits. That’s just aimed at my goals. Overall the app is amazing

Changing my life one practice at a time.. The only yoga app that keeps me coming back. I love the way I can choose how long my practice is each day so on busy days I can do a short one. I also love the way I can choose how difficult or hard I want the practice to be. The accompanying music is spot on. I quite often keep listening after the practice is finished and download a song to my own music library. It is changing my life one practice at a time.

Amazing!. I love down dog so much! I started on the prenatal version, which saved me through all the aches and pains of pregnancy. Since having my baby I’m now building up my strength on the standard version. I love that you can pick different yoga styles and duration of your practise. When I’m exhausted and need of a stretch I choose a 30 min yin. When I feel like I can manage more of a work out/strength building practise I can work for longer in vinyasa or ashtanga. The voice is so lovely to listen to and the playlist is always amazing! Could not recommend enough!

Exceeded my expectations! 👏🏼. I was using a paid yoga app for about 2 years until its existing customers were forced to pay for a subscription fee in order to use its contents that I've already paid for. Therefore I had to find another yoga app in replacement for something I got used to and loved. Then I found this app. I wasn't expecting much but I honestly loved their featured yoga sessions and showed me new flows and poses that my previous app failed to develop. This app is here to stay in my phone as I continue to grow in my yoga journey. Keep it up 🙏🏼✌🏼💖

Caution: Addictive app :). I have tried many yoga apps. This is by far the best one. It has clear instructions with quality videos, different yoga styles, levels, pace, if preferred emphasis on different body areas, session lengths, good instructor voices with a choice of different instruction levels and background sounds to choose from. Apart from that it can be played on a computer as well. Questions get answered promptly. The Down Dog Facebook community is a friendly and inspiring site. Looking forward to practicing and getting better! On another note the other Down Dog apps are amazing as well. Love the Down Dog 7 min workout for breaks from longer sitting. Thank you for creating it!

Excellent app. As a novice to yoga, I love this app. I have started at 0 and I’m now doing yoga everyday. I feel off if I don’t do my daily 20 mins of yoga in my bedroom when I wake. I love the music. I love the instructor. I’ve started at beginner and I’m very content to stay here for a while. I herniated my disc last year and now my flexibility is better and I feel much less tighter than I used to. I highly recommend this app if you feel intimidated, don’t feel like you fit into a regular class or don’t want to pay the costs of classes. I would have given a 5 but sometimes it can be buggy and the video plays up rarely. My only suggestion would be to add a chromcast feature so I can cast the app onto my TV. Thanks for introducing me to yoga Down Dog. It’s now part of my daily life.

Brilliant. I’ve had this app now 10 months. I am the type of person that will do some sort of activity like they gym or a class for a short time then get board and give up. This app any being able to choose how long and how intense I want it to be is fantastic. I’ve lost 7 to 8kg in this time with no other changes to my life other than taking up yoga. I did get them membership for they year that gave me access to their other apps but only used hit like twice likely just not my thing really. But I highly recommend down dog. Side note one down side I did try to get in contact with them regarding accidentally purchasing the wrong membership and if I could fix it and they never got back to me. That’s why I only gave it 4 stars.

Absolutely life changing. I first started using down dog approximately 10 months ago after getting injured at work. I started off with the free trial because I wasn’t able to work and couldn’t commit to a subscription based service but after the two weeks I realised how beneficial it was to my wellbeing so I wrote to them explaining my situation and they gifted me an extra 6 months free of charge, in this time I was able to strengthen the injured area and reconnect with my body, now that I’m back to work and have gotten a little bit slack with my practice it’s always reassuring to know that if I’m ever feeling stiff or sore in a particular area this trusty app is here to help me feel whole again. I 100% recommended this app to anybody and everybody in my life experiencing and pain or discomfort in their lives.

Great to motivate Regular ‘time-bound’ practice. DownDog has been great App for me & friends to do regular practice to our own timeframe, ability & music. As I do it every other day I have found some sequences very repetitive so would just suggest if more variety in the sequence be available- mind you I do just go off on my own when it gets repetitive. One more thing, is it’s great that poses are outlined individually also and would be so good to select the poses I want to do and put in a sequence / session. Thanks so much for your innovation thus far.

Impossible to connect to a screen. I have tried connecting this to different TV screens, on different occasions. It just doesn’t work. The phone screen is too small to follow through, it’s not practical. If you use glasses, it’s ridiculous. You have to choose whether to see the moves and have your glasses falling from your face all the time or to guess what’s going on, which is pretty hard if you are not familiar with the exercise. I paid for a year's subscription and only used it a couple of times because of this annoying bug. Not renewing this one. There are better options in the market.

A saviour for mental and physical health. I love the idea of tailoring my yoga sessions to my needs - my time, my voice and music preference, my speed, my skill level and even my areas of desired focus. I started in April of 2020 and I have been trying to keep a steady pace since then. Thanks you to the app content creators, designers and developers. UPDATE 2024: Still using, still love BUT has been buggy and freezing recently, meaning I lose my practice streak. Hopefully it’s fixed soon. Also would love a Garmin syncing integration one day!

Been using since 2017. One of the best apps by far for yoga. I like the way the app brings together all the poses. Sure there have been changes since 2017 but the core structure of it has stayed the same since then. There has been more variety of voices to choose from. You can customise how long you want your savasana to be etc. I find that if I use it every day my well-being becomes better. I sleep better, start becoming more aware of my diet. I become more aware of my muscle movement and am mindful with how I move when doing strenuous activities. They even have a prenatal yoga which I did try and isn’t too harsh on the body. Did it for 1st and 2nd trimester though.. 3rd trimester I became too tired..😅 Hope you guys have fun and plenty of relaxing moments using this app.

Yoga every day!. This app is awesome and I've been doing yoga everyday since I got it. It ticks all the boxes- great variety, talks you through the poses in a human way (don't need to look) and with video that fits the talking if you need it, the boosts give you the option to focus on areas, you can skip the music if you don't like it, and get a unique session every time. The voice is even relaxing and the music is not repetitive 😊 I love this app and I can do it pro for a whole month all for the price of one class!! Or for free without the boosts, so awesome thank you!!!

Life saver. This app was recommended by my psychologist to help with my anxiety. I absolutely love it and have recommended it to so many people. It’s so easy to use, different every time and so customizable for what you need at the time. I also love Chad’s voice - so calming! I’ve been using it for over a year now during my cancer journey and it has been a life saver. And then when I broke my ankle badly at the end of last year it has helped immensely with my rehab - I just add foot/ankle stretches to the program for the extra focus. It’s helped calm my mind, give me something constructive to focus on and helped me to get stronger in the process! Very highly recommend.

Surfing. I am 60yrs old and have been surfing since 10yrs old. Since doing yoga daily for the last year via this App my surfing, paddling and jumping to my feet has improved remarkably. My lower back was becoming stiff and regular stretching has maintained my flexibility at this age. Highly recommend the Down Dog app for individual daily routine which you can set at your own pace and ability. I started using this app as a Health Worker due the company’s free subscription during Covid. Great ethical values. Thank you

Music is too loud over the Yogis voice. I love the down dog ap! However lately the music has been over powering the instructors voice which makes it hard to follow the sequence. Another suggestion, the Alternate beats was a funky group of tunes that motivated movement, however after my mini practise just now, the alternate beats soundtrack seemed more like pop music. If you are to use pop music, could that have its own setting as I found the music was distracting and not allowing me to focus on my breathing or holding poses. I do love love the down dog ap and know how great feedback is so I hope you guys continue to grow and evolve 🌻 thank you

How do I express how this app has changed my life!!!. Not only is the app easy to use and so amazingly versatile but the benefits that I have gained have been monumental. No more back pain or headaches. I’ve had chronic neck pain from injuries 30 years ago and I can now touch my neck without pain. Even though I have been sick lately when recovering I have done a gentle version with stretching and feel better everyday. I do it when and where I like. I feel stronger both mentally and physically than I have in years. I’m nearly 50 and I feel better than I did when I was 40. My flexibility and balance improve on a daily basis. What I couldn’t quite do yesterday I can today and all so easy with the app. One of the best apps I’ve ever bought. Thank so much!!!!

Happy for over a year. I’ve started using DownDog when the coronavirus pandemic hit in early 2020 and I’ve never stopped. I especially enjoy long restorative and yin sessions. (I tried all options and I liked all of them!) I love learning new poses as well as coming back to those I already know and feel comfortable in. Even when I have weeks when I don’t feel like doing yoga at all, I know I can start again with something gentle and work up my flexibility again. That’s a big yay from me! Both the mobile app and desktop version work great, music and voice guidance are really nice. Overall, I’m one extremely happy puppy!

Peace, Love & Joy 🤍. I’ve been using downdog since 2019 and that was from knowing 0 about yoga at all to where I can humbly say I’m confident to run some routines in my practice as a PT. However, that’s not even the best part about the app. Above the fact that it’s highly customisable and you really feel like you are in a 1on1 session always and there’s no pressure to try hit possess with perfection when you first encounter them. For the last 3 years I’ve been recommending all my PT clients to download this app to accompany the work we do in the gym 😊 think of it this way a standard yoga class depending where you come from will cost you up to $120…. The yearly subscription for downdog is only a fraction of that 😁 Lastly, I believe the app is ran by the most amazing humans 🤍🤍 I went through a period where cash was tight in my life, and I’d gone 2 months without a sub. I spoke with the support team and they understood my situation and gave me free access to the practices until I got back on my feet 🥹🥹 Best virtual experience out there and I hope as many people can get to experience this app 🤍🤍

Down Dog has changed my life. I discovered Down Dog as many through the COVID Pandemic and loved it from the start. With a busy life of university and full time job I couldn’t keep up with the routine anymore as well not being able to afford the subscription anymore, until I discovered that Down Dog had extended the free membership to students and teachers! This is so amazing, thank you Down Dog team for caring so much for our mental health in such difficult times!

Amazing app best investment!. I’ve recommended this app to my family and friends! Absolutely amazing yoga app which allows you to select so many options! From the length, to the style of yoga, length of savasana and focal point. You can tailor your yoga session to whatever your body needs! I’ve been using this app daily for the last 8 months and I have no regretted it! I’ve purchased it as I wanted the capacity to download yoga practices while being offline but the free version offers pretty much everything else! 100% recommended!

Highly recommend!. I am constantly impressed by the routines put out, whether it be a quick 15 minute pre-coffee move or a 60 minute anxiety reducing relax before bed. I’ve always wanted to do more yoga but find class times don’t suit my lifestyle and practicing with strangers not so peaceful. The flexibility down dog offers is amazing - not just for time of day but also type of practice, music, pace etc! Have recommended this to many friends who also rave about it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic. Look, it’s expensive! But worth it. Much effort has been put into this app & it really pays off. You can target areas you want to work on and it feels like you’re in a class. Also, don’t panic if you continuously want to target the same areas, down dog mixes it up every session. Alternatively, you can choose a session of poses you liked the most and save it. Multiple choices on speed, expertise level, instruction, music + more. Tailor it to your needs and give it a go. I had a free trial, I highly recommend checking it out.

Best yoga / fitness app ever!. I absolutely love this app. It’s a life changer. I used to think I wasn’t the kind of person who could commit to anything consistently but I’ve done 35 out of 36 days of yoga using this app so far. How? Because you can customise EVERYTHING! I only do 22 minutes a day as soon as I wake up. It’s just long enough to feel a benefit but not long enough that I can say I don’t have time or talk myself out of it. If I really wanted, I could do five or ten minutes. I love that you can choose the type, time, difficulty, add in a boost of certain body parts, choose the voice, music and more. It’s also really easy to follow along unlike some other online fitness apps. Highly recommend!

Best yoga you can get your hands on!. My daughter recommended me the app while in lockdown, as there was a “free of charge” offer due to the pandemic. I decided to give it a go and thoroughly enjoyed everything about it, starting with the verity of choices, from duration, style, type and selection of pleasant voices (the lack of which he’s been known to stop me from using certain teachers in the past..) I thoroughly missed it once the free period expired, as unfortunately I couldn’t buy it as it doesn’t fit into my budget. So I’m overjoyed now with the new free of charge period, so I thank the developers for it:)! Not looking forward to the 15th of December when it ends:(

This app is my yoga life 💕. I absolutely love Down Dog and use it every day as my daily practise. No two classes are ever the same and the instructors are amazing! For me, it is a no excuses option for yoga as if I am time poor, I can just do ten minutes. Not doing it is never an option, which is amazing! The best instructor by far is Chad! His vocal cues and tone are perfect and he has become my daily virtual instructor! An incredible talent! I’d love to see some guided meditations on the app or yoga nidra (just an idea for future expansion 😉) Thank you for creating such an incredible app and making yoga a part of my daily routine. Namaste you beautiful Down Dog humans xx

best yoga app for me!. In a class I get easily distracted by personalities and comparing myself to others. This app allows me to make the session focused on me. The simplified appearance and customisation options allow me to really focus on what is happening in my body. I do short 20 min sessions whenever and wherever I can. The levels seem quite advanced to me which make me think I will be able to use this app for years. I use the slowest setting and full explanation and feel that I have learned more specific tips than in any real class I have been to. I like the approach of the company to make it accessible for anyone, a company less-for-profit culture we need in building a fairer world. makes me feel good to support that.

The best yoga app I’ve used!. Down Dog is completely immersive and actually quite a beautiful experience. I feel supported and guided, relaxed and positive just like I do when I go and take a class. Finally an app that is as good as or even better taking a class. There’s no need to think about which pose to do, for how long, when to breath, how to adjust the body.. With calming music and a gentle guiding voice, all that extra thinking is replaced with meditation. You are able to specify the kind of class you want to take, its length and quite a few other things to personalise the practice but most of the work is done for you. I’ll never bother with any other yoga app. I really look forward to my practice every day with Dawn Dog. Thankyou!

The best. Bar none.. Other yoga apps can be fantastic but tend to lack the human understanding this one does. There are no complex plans, no inhuman-sounding voices, no static sequences that are either too easy or too hard. This app is the one that made me give up on all the others. Fantastic and relatable instructor voice, varied and interesting routines each day, customisable session times, optional "boost" focus on specific areas (flexibility, cardio, hamstrings etc etc). Really just simple, but far more accessible. I haven't enjoyed yoga like this before.

Life changing. Thank you down dog!! I can't share enough how much this app has changed my life. My practice has become so regular meaning there is so much more light in so much more parts of life - why wouldn't you want that? This app is so user friendly, def worth purchasing full app. With the choice to cater each class to how/who I am on each day. Go from a full 60min to a quick 15min practice. Each 'class' feels so genuine and Each pose has been described with great body awareness so it's so easy to pick up, and after a few 'classes' you won't need to watch the screen, just easily flow through your asanas and transform your living room into your own personal studio. Such a positive addition to life. Thank you so much Down Dog for all the hard work and for deciding to share this greatness with the world. Namaste.

Life changing. I started to use this app at the beginning of last year when COVID locked most of us away in our homes, I was an essential worker and spent a lot of that time being extremely uncertain and filled with anxiety, this app helped me learn a whole new world of relaxation and positivity through practicing yoga almost everyday. This app and the beginner app are amazing for people who are only just beginning their journey into yoga and also those who are more advanced, the amount of control you have over all of the settings is amazing, I have just started to play around with the other apps in the Down Dog range and so far I’m impressed with those too!

The Best Yoga App Around. * Free * Better night sleep * Lower stress levels * Less anxious * More flexible * Greater clarity and focus * Breathing :-) I was looking for an app that tackled the above but also could grow with my Yoga experience and ability, can offer more than one type of yoga (love the Restorative practice on DD), is easy to follow and is relaxing. Downward Dog has been perfect! Every night I light my candles and do a 10, 15 or 20 min restorative yoga before bed (I’ve even converted some of my guests to DD after they’ve done bedtime restorative yoga with me). I love the music played throughout (which can be tailored or turned off- but I love it) and if there are any yoga moves I need further clarity on, I can go on to their You Tube video. With regards to the music, if there are any tunes you like, at the end of the session you can view the playlist and then buy the tracks online. The lady who instructs the yoga sessions has a nice calm soothing voice - which surprising is hard to find on yoga apps. Can’t recommend DD enough. It’s made me sleep better, reduced my stress levels and as a bonus helping me stay slim and trim. Once I’m more advanced in yoga thanks to DD, I’ll definitely be upgrading to their subscription package - cheaper and better than the yoga classes I’ve been to in the past.

Great instructions and so flexible. I got this app a little while ago but did not really get into it until the last month or so. I am so grateful for the offer of the free full version and will definitely be subscribing. I appreciate that there is so much flexibility in the length and intensity of the practice so I can choose what suits me best on any particular day. Also find the voice and music soothing and love the really clear instructions as I am fairly new to regular yoga practice but the app is really motivating me to practice every day!

Love love love. Honestly so glad I discovered this suite of apps back at the start of COVID. I’m not usually one who pays for subscriptions, but I found this to be so reasonably priced, and to get access to all the apps in the suite is an invaluable bonus! What I love most about the Down Dog app is that I can tailor it to everything I need - focus areas, duration, background music and guidance provided. This is something very unique with at home workout classes, and I couldn’t recommend it more! Now all we need is a Pilates app to make the suite complete 😊

Help. Like many people i came to DD during the lockdown in Australia. I had always practiced Yoga with private instructor. As a 54 year old male farmer classes seemed impossible because of either the access , pace of the class or my self consciousness ,I felt like i was a distraction to others and i was not getting the most out of the class, so privates seemed to be the best way toward greater flexibility. Through your beautiful app its like a private session. The fact that i can curate my class via length of practice, time of practice , style of yoga and level is fantastic. The feature i like most is the fact that i can choose the voice of my instructor. This creates the idea of intimacy that you get when you do a ‘private’. DD is a wonderful app, thank you for your generous offering during lockdown and with your help i will be able to return to the class in fine form!! ( more likely survive a class) Christopher May

My gym is where ever I roll out my mat.. I love this app. I can take it anywhere with me. I roll out my mat and that is my gym. I have taken this app caravanning with me over three months around Australia and it has made it so easy to keep up my fitness on the road and relaxed me even more. Over the space of 18 months being a complete beginner my yoga has improved to your advanced level. My core strength is stronger now than before having kids. Thank you for a great easy to use app that has grown with my advances and kept me challenged and interested.

My life has never been better. I started using this app during the peak of covid isolation restrictions as Down Dog was allowing users to try the app for over a month for free. It was the best thing that I ever did. I had already been struggling mentally due to being a front line worker and seeing the absolutely despicable and appalling behaviour people were exhibiting. Not only has my my fitness improved dramatically, but I am sleeping better and able to clear my mind to try not to sweat the small stuff. I love that I can get up and do a yoga sesh in the morning, and it’s just the perfect start to a day. I also just found out that up to 6 family members can use the app, so I’m going to download it on hubby’s phone as he’s expressed a desire to do some yoga. And to my surprise, I saw there is a beginner yoga app which is truly brilliant. Just so many great apps for the price! Thanks guys! My only slight issue currently is my app has crashed a few times during casting and gone back to the start. Which is a bit distracting but I’m sure future updates should fix that. Overall, I couldn’t be happier.

Terrible customer service but a great app. I’ve had trouble paying for my subscription for 3 weeks now. I have been sent receipt after receipt that I’ve paid for it but later on my account gets locked because the payment never went through. I also cannot pay again until after they’ve locked my account because there is no option to pay online or on the app. What makes it worse is I’ve emailed support and the advice they have offered is pay us with credit card instead of PayPal as credit card is more secure. Seems right? Not once have they apologised for these system errors. Very disappointed in the customer service seeing how amazing this app is. I love the app but now I’m having to decide if it’s worth the trouble trying to pay for it.

The best virtual yoga app you will find. The great thing about Down Dog is how very customisable it is. If I sleep in in the morning or I want to quickly squeeze in a class during the day I can adjust the length of class to fit my schedule. But it's not only the length you can play with, it’s the level of difficulty, the instructor's voice, the background music (the ambient setting is a fave and even includes an instrumental track by Nick Cave) and the focus areas, so you can switch to adjust your body’s needs in the moment that you are taking the class. This is the perfect yoga app.

Best app ever. I’ve been using the down dog yoga app for four years now, and it is the best app I have ever had. This app got me into Yoga. It is a fabulous app because you can pick how long you want to work out for and what you want to focus on as well as the practice style.

Super application. Un peu plus de deux ans d’utilisation quotidienne plus tard: je l’aime toujours autant. 👌🏻 Jamais été aussi en forme. 🤩

Love the variety. I have been using this app since we were deep in COVID. It has helped me so much. I love all the options and variety.

Best way to do yoga!!!. It’s amazing to do yoga at your own pace in the comfort of your own home, your own sos infix way, so many fine tuning options to get the most out of your work out/ stretch. Love it !!!

Offline. Why am I no longer able to use the app offline? Before this update, I used to be able to save my favorite sessions in my downloaded files and use the app while offline. Now I’m unable to even open the app offline without a message about ´not being connected to the internet’ showing up on the screen. Why??

Perfect app except one thing. I absolutely love this app. Everything about it is perfect. Except, I wish that the screen would flip orientation during a session. Once you start a session, you can’t rotate the screen which is very frustrating with my phone case stand. But overall it’s a minor thing. I hope it eventually gets fixed.

Down With Yoga!!. I have been a subscriber to this yoga platform since April 2020 & i will never change. This platform is so customizable to everyone’s unique needs. I am a massage therapist, and I often recommend people to Down Dog Yoga because of its unique benefits and simplicity to use. 10 stars. Awesome program for newbies and advanced yoga masters!

Blatantly breaking App Store rules. Directly advertising 30% off if I pay on website? Hope Apple shuts you down for breaking those rules

Great but Chromecast Issues. I too used this when it was free - it’s such a non-hassle way to incorporate yoga into your fitness routine, especially as a runner. I love all the different types of boosts, but love that I can choose very specific boosts to meet running demands (ie. there is hip flexors, hips, thighs! I’m glad Down Dog recognizes that these are all very different). Overall, I’m happy I paid for the year through their website (which is cheaper than App Store!). One BIG continuous issue is the connectivity with the chromecast. It usually just disconnects about 18-25 mins through a practice and RESTARTS. I have no idea why but it’s extremely distracting and definitely takes away from the practice. Yes, I can use fine on my phone, but having the video large on my screen is definitely preferred, especially if a friend is joining. For an app I’m paying for, I expect better.

The right one ….. After I tried so many app for yoga. I always return to this one. Why, so many possibilities to customize your practices.

Has changed for the worse. I’ve been using the Down Dog App for almost 3 years and it has been an integral part of my daily life. However, I am so sad to see recent changes to the App and customer service that have downgraded usability significantly. First of all (and possibly most importantly) while Down Dog used to have channels to contact them (mainly to report bugs to them), and they used to respond to problems and have great customer service, they have recently taken away the ability to provide feedback to them or contact them. This is really unacceptable for a service that I pay a significant annual subscription for. Altering my Apple Store review is the only way to communicate. This is not only terrible customer service but non-existent customer service. This aspect of the App goes from 5-stars to 0-stars. The second thing is that they took away the ability to download and use a practice offline. I use Down Dog (long before the pandemic) because I live in a remote area and have no access to yoga studios, but also have unreliable internet access. By removing a key feature of their program, and taking away all my saved practices, I literally cannot use the App more than a couple of times a week. While it’s dreadful to think as I do love the practices so much, I may have to cancel subscription as I can’t really use the App anymore. Sad to see a great App go downhill with poor decisions made after becoming successful. I do hope they bring back customer service and the ability to download a practice for offline use.

Love this App!. I’ve been using Down Dog for years. I just love yoga and meditation they are easy to use and are an important part of my wellness journey 🪻🌱❤️

Cast to TV. I am unable to cast to TV from this app. I have followed the trouble shooting advice for multiple devices and OS’ and I am unable to do so through this app.. Other apps cast to TV and this one does not. It would be 5 stars if it was not for this inconvenience. Thank You!

Was 5 stars now 1 star. I paid for a yearly subscription and am on my second year now. Love the app, however after the latest update it will not run on my iPad mini running iOS 14.6. It begins to startup, then freezes and crashes the iPad forcing a reboot. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling the app with the same result. I also tried installing it on my iPhone but it won’t let me log in. The login screen just keeps going around and around. The app won’t run!

Using this since 2018. And honestly, I’ve tried MANY MANY apps before crossing the way of DownDog. They are just the best. Like, I recommend it to everyone asking for an app that is easy, customizable to you needs and keeps track automatically of your practice (there is an historic of what practice you did, the time, etc). You can set goals in the app also (mine is 7 sessions per week for exemple). One of the best feature, IMO, is the “timer” that let you choose the duration. It is motivating to see that you have something working for your need (your personalized presets) in the amount of time you want to do. As a mom I sometimes do 10 mins here and there or 30 minutes when the kids are not home. Also, with the subscription you have entirely access to all of their other apps (prenatal, HIIT, Barre, Meditation, etc) so you are not limited to just yoga but to a whole workout range of options. I really must say that not only it is cheaper than going to the gym (which I personally hate bc I hate social contact while working out or doing yoga) but also less time consuming, more efficient and more motivating. DownDog did really raised the bar to a WHOLE another level. The subscription at full price isn’t really costing a lot of money considering what it’s offering. They improved a lot of their functionality over the years (adding boost and such) but I must say that they never disappointed me, neither I met a single frustrating bug on the app that ruined a practice or made me loose my motivation. It’s a 5 star for me. I just love it so much. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Free version gone. I’ve been using the free version for a number of years and now it’s gone. That’s sad. The subscription is too expensive and there’s not as many options as there used to be. It’s a good platform tho.

Just perfect. The app I was waiting for all my life

Download option removed. I’ve been using Down Dog for over a year and absolutely loved the app. They have removed the download feature though, which will will make impossible for many to practice if the internet is not great. It would really be nice to practice outdoors but they exchanged this for a better video quality, which, to be honest, doesn’t maje any difference to the practice.

Love(d) this app...... Had this app for awhile and was loving it....gave it five stars before, but now I’m changing my rating because I was going to do a practice today and then I realized it was asking me to continue with payment first. Super upset and disappointed that you can’t just use the app at all anymore without paying....there should at least be some way that people can use the app still for free, even if it is with less options or personalization available to them. I loved this app I want it back to the way it was! 😓💔

Everything you want. I love the amount of options. I can fit in a quick 10 minute session on a lunch break or go deep and specific for up to a 1 hour session. Great music and voice options. All for the price of one yoga class - and in the privacy of my own home. Love this app!

Disappointed no offline!. I just paid for another year of great yoga BUT I clicked to get the most recent upgrade and now I can’t do my down dog yoga practise at my cottage where there is no internet! This used to be possible and I used it effectively whenever I was away from internet. I love my practise and I want to be able to do it every day even when away from wifi/internet. Not every place in the world ha constant and easy internet service. Why did you remove this important function??! Please explain.

Casual user. I use this app as my yoga practice. My aim is strength training but I need to stretch, and the level of customizability and quality of videos are top notch. I don't see why anyone would go to a yoga studio when an app like this is available

Down dog is saving my back!. My back has been bothering me for a long time and Down dogs restorative yoga poses are a great way for me to stretch my back and legs feel normal again!

I love it. It’s great.

I LOVE this app!. I love this app! It makes me move really easily, at home and whenever I want. It is now part of my every week routine since 2018 !!!

Excellent, même pour les débutants.. Exercices bien expliqués Musique agréable. Du choix de type de yoga et de durée, j’adore! Une belle façon de se mettre au yoga.

BEST APP AND SERVICE EVER. This company and app have literally SAVED me. I am a winemaker and flower farmer and have injured my back severely twice and the practises and classes you get with this app is life changing. The music choices are incredible, the voice options are awesome! Honestly, I am so grateful for the app and the people behind it. The options for types of yoga are very well explained and you can go at your own pace. I love to challenge myself so seeing it get checked off makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something for myself and my health! Would HIGHLY recommend. For both your physical and mental health!

Best yoga app. I’m absolutely amazed by the high quality of this app! I love how they combine their extensive and exercise, music and video library to come up with new routines every time. Thank you so much for this app!

Unable to sufficiently customize. I found that the camel poses hurt my back. I don’t see a way to rule them out of my practices.

Sucks. Very expensive. It showed up in my app so I thought it would be Canadian but it wasn’t so the price was even more surprising. I didn’t want the other apps but I didn’t have the option for just one. The app won’t work without internet. it doesn’t show you how to do a move proper or any kind of description so when it reaches a move I’ve never heard of. I have to rewind and rematch til I figure it out and some I just can’t do. No modifications provided any form or way. Can’t take poses out either. I find it kind of discouraging. Not worth the price in any way.

Please Bring Yoga Fusion BACK!. What happened to Yoga Fusion?? Please bring it back, it’s the BEST! Strength Flow is just NOT the same, not a good replacement for Yoga Fusion! Thank you!

Tellement parfait. J’adore cette app et toute leur série. Il y a plusieurs options pour l’adapter à notre besoin. Très bien fait.

So good for me. Dark days need some light. Thank you for the free months of yoga, it truly is a blessing. Wonderful varied classes, with video or without. Big recommend.

Thank you. I use Down Dog every morning for tow years now and I’m grateful for having this app. It just make my day. I highly recommend it to everyone who values her health.

Wonderful. I absolutely love this app. I haven’t practiced this regularly in years! Thank you so much for this, and thank you for making it so affordable.

Best yoga app. I am completely in love with this way to practice the beautiful art of yoga. So easy to use and each practice is different. Highly recommend 5 star

Great app for yoga. Down Doghas been my go to since march 2020. Love that I can build my own practice and feel like I’m in a studio!!

Glitchy with chromecast. It pauses halfway through and won’t reconnect with chrome cast. The app takes forever to connect to chrome cast to begin with. Specifically got the app to stream onto my tv but it’s not possible.

Great Yoga App. So far I love this app, a great yoga class and so nice to do from home

Best comprehensive Yoga App!. We have been using this app since the beginning of the pandemic. It quickly and easily replaced our beloved yoga instructors (sorry instructors!). We love the flows; the customization and the app is just so comprehensive.

THE BEST YOGA APP EVER. Been using this app since 2014. Although I have moments of inconsistency, every time I return to Down Dog, it delivers exactly what I need. Can’t beat the price, and love how customizable it is to where your at that day. I also have DD other apps (meditation & HIIT) which I appreciate, though use less. Just get it already!!

The best. Wonderful app to cover all levels and all types of yoga, meditation for all capacities 💝💝💝💝💝

Used to be able to download for offline use. Used to be able to download when not in Wifi but they seemed to have disabled this feature? Great in a world of planet wide Wi-Fi coverage not so good in the real world.

Voix homme. Est-ce possible d’ajouter un choix de voix d’hommes?

Caution difficult to unsubscribe. Be very cautious purchasing a subscription- will continue to charge you annually and very difficult to stop. You cannot just go into your account online to cancel. Bit of a money grab.

No more downloads??. I have used this app for a few years and love the variety and the ease of use. I was disappointed to see that there is no longer an option to download a practice to be used offline. This was a great feature and I am not sure why it has been discontinued. BRING BACK DOWNLOADS!!

Doesn’t work with Apple Watch and poor customer service. The app doesn’t work as promised with Apple Watch. I sent two emails to customer service and never heard back. The workouts are more repetitive than the description leaves one to believe.

Perfect app for individualized practice. This is the best Yoga app I’ve come across in a long time! You can customize a lot of things on the app to make it the best practice for you and I’ve been loving every practice I’ve done. Feeling much more flexible as well!

No longer free??. Been using this app for the past week and loved it and now I can’t start without having to proceed with payment. VERY disappointed !!

Just a few minutes a day can change your life.. One December, I made a promise to myself. I would do yoga every day for at least ten minutes. One month became six, and I was amazed at the impact just few minutes a day had on me. Physically, I was stronger, leaner and my balance and flexibility was greatly improved. The impact of keeping this small promise and not missing a single day, helped me to know that I am capable of doing so much more. My self discipline in other areas was improved. I was happier, more confident and sleeping better. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer that summer, I was incredibly grateful for my yoga practice and the ability to calm myself through breath. Down Dog was with me every day during my year and a half of daily yoga and I’m so grateful. It’s an incredible app, and if you want to improve your life, I can’t recommend a daily yoga practice highly enough.

My favorite apps ever. I rarely review apps but feel it’s important to say how amazing I think the DownDog apps are. I use the yoga app the most, but also the hiit and my husband started the running app as well. The apps are perfectly designed. I absolutely love how I can customize my yoga practice to incorporate a specific style and focus and adjust the time. I’m amazed at how well it flows! I went through a major health issue right when covid lockdown started in 2020 and the DownDog yoga app was key in my recovery. I was able to start gently in “rejuvenation” mode and work my way up to a full Vinyasa practice. We pay for the subscription and it has been beyond worth it. I’d love it if they could add little mini sessions teaching you how to build up to the more complicated asanas. Other than that I hope they don’t change a thing!

Awesome instructor!. The instructor has an amazing voice, that is also soothing and helps me focus. On top of the best directions given by the instructor, the playlist is also perfect for the ambience and definitely sets a relaxing tone that seems crucial when trying complex moves for the first time and at a beginner level. All this would not be accomplished without the option which this app gives; to perfectly fine tune the best Yoga class I have ever had in the privacy of my home. To continue, I would suggest the surroundings of the back drop be more natural and more ethereal if possible. Living in a city is nice, but this experience helps to get my head out of the city. Image is everything if the surrounding of where the instructor is was edited a bit to show a more natural background. Take us to a place of tranquility. Hope that helps :)

Absolutely Wonderful. I've been a solo practitioner of yoga for about 10 years+, but very much off and on. I just needed something to get me back into it as I know how healthy it is for me and my life. I have been dealing with mental illness for about the same amount of time that I've been doing yoga, and recently I've had a whole host of physical problems that we've barely scratched the surface on in terms of diagnosis and treatment. Anyway, being physically sick and going through issues with my medications (and, subsequently, my moods and behaviors) sparked me to go back to something I know has always been healing to me. But I needed a resource for practice that suited me after having tried and fallen off with many over the years. Enter Down Dog. Lovely music selections, a gentle and soothing voice of the instructor, a clarity of direction (including well-timed cueing, reminders to maintain proper alignment, then how to achieve said alignment). Right now, I am obsessed with their restorative sessions. They're lovely to ease me back into things while still feeling fully worked by the end. And fully relaxed. Which is extremely rare for me. I love it. I'd bet that most who have tried it love it, too. Do yourself a favor, no matter your skill level or consistency of practice, and download this app. It's just good to have in your arsenal.

Adore this app!!. I turned to yoga after I had a painful back injury from working out. A friend of mine recommended this app to me and it shifted my gaze towards the healing and strengthening power of yoga! I paid $35 for the first year and enjoyed different teacher’s voices and music, as well as the boosts (hip opener, aerobic, back strengthening, restorative, etc) and the levels of difficulty (beginner 1/2, intermediate, advanced). You can choose whether you watch a video of someone doing the pose or a simple picture (great if you don’t want to drain your battery). You can even choose the length of time you want to practice, which varies from 10-90 minutes. What I love is that every practice is different - each time you hit Start something is being expertly pieced together for you. I really love this app and would recommend it to anyone new to yoga and/or wanting to deepen their asana practice.

Absolutely worth it. I’ve been an annual subscriber for over a year and I cannot sing this app’s praises loud enough. I love that even with the same settings, I get a unique session every time. I LOVE the high level of customization, from my instructors voice, to the music in the background, and focus areas. Fell out of practice and was off the app for a month or two and came back to great refreshes! Love the new music category choices and even my routine practices seem more varied and fresh. I couldn’t be happier and will continue to be willing to shell out the annual subscription renewal price. Thank you to the app team for continuing to update and improve the experience. It doesn’t go unnoticed and it’s such a happy experience stumbling upon new features and expansions as I go. The improvement alone will keep me coming back. It brings me so much joy every day!

Best of the best. All around Tremendous, Fantastic, Bigly - this is not fake news! This app is one-stop shop from beginners to experts alike. The options to pick level of expertise, background music, pace of practice, length of practice, exercise boost for specific body areas, level of spoken instructions is a very-well thought out idea. You will not regret using this app if you want to incorporate a decent amount of yoga routine into your life. I only do Full Practice for 30 minutes at Intermediate Level 1 six days a week. In only four months, I have become ridiculously flexible overall, back pain disappeared for good, strong toned-up body and 10lbs less fat around core. I can’t wait for next block of four months and the one thereafter. Total 12 months of dedication and mind, body and soul just rebooted nicely with assistance and guidance from this wonderful Down Dog app.

Healthy, Strong and Confident. This app has changed my life! I was recovering from a broken ankle, had just had my second child and was diagnosed with arthritis in several joints. I was desperate for something to help me feel better and get stronger but was also easy enough I could do it every day at home. I started off slow with just restorative yoga but over the past year I’ve advanced and can do so many poses I never would have thought I could do. I only do 20 minutes right away in the morning (because really what mom gets more than that these days!) but I swear it makes my whole day go so much better. I am the healthiest I’ve ever been, can keep up with my kids, have tapered off most of my arthritis meds and feel so strong! Thank you to the creators! I’m so so grateful this app exists!

A Cut Above The Rest. I never review apps, but I had to review this one. It’s so well done - the voiceover person says just enough and is just encouraging enough without being an over the top “online fitness coach” type. The videos are simple and easy to follow, but the voice is also enough to guide you through the movements without having to look at the screen. The playlist is really well curated, not weirdo new age stuff from the 90s.. modern music that fits and is not distracting. The flexibility to choose between a ton of different time lengths, types of practice and levels (and the ability to mix and match) is amazing and I’m honestly not sure how they do it cause it never seems like a patched together video of different moves like I’ve experienced in other apps like Sworkit with a similar “choose your own adventure” feature. Really, really great and I’ve done a lot of online fitness .. this is the closest thing to an actual yoga class that I’ve found.

Best Yoga App Ever!. A few years ago, I bought a lifetime membership for this app and I’ve been enjoying it ever since! I had tried A LOT of other yoga apps and none come even close to comparing to this one. The unique process-generated programming of this app allows you to customize a workout according to your needs and preferences—everything from how much voice instruction, to what parts of the body you want to give extra attention to, and from the style and pace of the movements to the style of background music. Heck, you even can choose the exact amount of time you want to workout—and the voice that you want to give you the instruction. In other apps, one has to scroll endlessly and select a program you think best fits what you want and need, but in this app—no scrolling—just select your options for a unique workout that meets your every need every time. No distractions and no scrolling—no nonsense! Just Yoga!

Highly Recommend!. I love how customizable this app is! Choose from styles of yoga, pace, instruction level, music, specific areas of focus, voice, basically any aspect of your flow can be tailored to your needs. From the very beginning, I’ve been able to follow along and only rarely even need to look at the screen - the instruction is that good! I do feel like some of the ‘beginner poses’ feel a little more advanced sometimes (maybe once out of every five or so practices) I’ll find myself in a position I’m not really ready for, but sometimes I can challenge myself and sometimes I just back carefully out of the pose. I also really love that you can save a specific session if I find a good one. I almost never go back to it, because I really love the variety from day to day, but the option is there. I can’t say enough good things about this app!

Everything you could ask for in a Yoga App!. This app is truly unique, and I wouldn't have ever gotten into a rhythm of doing Yoga daily if it wasn't for this app! With a wide variety of Yoga types, from more cardio-intensive to flexibility Flow (my favorite), you can edit the difficulty of the positions and the time you want to spend, even if you only have a few minutes. Bonus appreciation: these developers are great people; I've been barely able to keep up with the ever-increasing costs and was a little sad when I thought I'd have to stop using this app to its full potential. After talking to them and explaining my situation, not only did they give me an extended trial, but a trial for six months! Truly outstanding customer service and I have nothing bad to say; keep up the great work, you guys and gals!

Awesome yoga app!!. I have finally found a great way to get into yoga by the means that work for me. I have paid for a YMCA membership of which I mostly utilized for the yoga classes. They were fine, but having different instructors didn't keep things on a similar track nor was I able to sequence my level from beginner to moderate and so on. Thus, finding Down Dog has been something I can totally do everyday! I love the simplicity of the app as well and like other reviews said, it's very fluid and the music paired with the practice is on point. I really love this app and as I'm going through a hard growing phase of reclaiming my lost soul right now, this app is my crutch and I'm perfectly ok obsessing and improving my yoga. I love being able to do it when I want to, don't have to leave and I love most of all that I can't preview the practice. It just makes me so much more present and unaware of what to expect...it's good! Thanks Down Dog, this app is my rock and to prospective users...you will not be disappointed.

Best. Yoga. App. Ever.. This app is so calming and it helps you find your inner peace. Every morning, I try to squeeze time in my schedule to do some yoga with this app. This app is great for any time, but I, personally, do this once in the morning to start off my day and once in the night right before I go to bed. If I'm really stressed out, I will do this throughout the day. The instructor is professional, and this app will show you different sessions every time that you use it. Another great thing is the times. I love that depending on your mood you can change the time. The lowest is 15mins, so for example you can use that time right before you go to work or school. Or if you're really feeling it, you could go up to 80mins. In conclusion, whoever you are that is reading this should totally get this app if your looking for a great, relaxing yoga app. Flawless.♥️👌🏻😉

Improvement suggestions. I love the app and that the subscription covers all the downdog apps (I use the yoga and meditation apps every night). There are just 2 things I would improve- 1.] I wish the “favorites” tab had better organization. Currently, it doesn’t separate your favorite sessions from the different apps (for example, my fav yoga and meditation sessions are dispersed amongst each other instead of being separate. It is only categorized by which session you favorited most recently). It also would be helpful if each of the favorites could be categorized by time (ex: 20 minute sessions v. 10 minute sessions) and type (ex: focus on shoulders v. Focus on lower back). 2.] I wish the yoga app had more “focus” areas. For example, instead of the basic “shoulder” or “lower back” you could also choose things like “good for digestion” or “helpful for period cramps.”

Simple, Customizable, Consistant. I don't usually write reviews. Ever honestly. But I've been using this app for two years now and I feel obligated to rave about it a little. I have always enjoyed yoga, but could never bring myself to do it at home in my own. Trying to find the right classes, the right stretches, the right teacher, always felt so frustrating. Especially first thing in the morning when I’m trying to be good and not be on my phone. I downloaded this app and was so taken aback by how customizable it was. I could pick my focus, my music vibe, my pacing, my timing. Suddenly I didn't have to think about it. And I found myself looking forward to it every morning. Then something even more incredible happened. I actually started doing my practice every morning. I love this app. It’s simple, but so effective. I couldn't recommend it enough. Do yourself a favor and just download it.

best!. I have been practicing yoga for nearly 18 years since I was in college, and I was disenchanted with yoga apps over the years. I thought I would never find something that felt authentic and wasn’t distracting, and had resigned myself to guiding myself through my practices when I travel for work (which is much of the time.) It had been a while since I tried an app, but when I became pregnant with my second child, I wanted some guidance, to stay safe in my poses. I downloaded the prenatal version of this app first, loved it through my pregnancy, and then downloaded the full version. I love how customizable it is, length of practice, difficulty level, speed at which the practice moves, and so many styles of practices - it fits whatever I need in the moment, and I love the boosts and extras focus areas. Absolutely the best yoga app out there - for every level of yogi!

I love this app, BUT…. I really do love this app, and it has finally helped me develop a somewhat consistent yoga practice over the past two years… But it offers an most infuriatingly buggy AirPlay experience. I have no interest in trying to follow a routine from my tiny phone, I need to be able to easily stream this to my Apple TV, but whenever I begin AirPlaying, the video stream invariably freezes. Most times I can get it to start again by skipping forward in the video, waiting until the stream begins (which still sometimes takes 20-30 seconds), and then returning to the start of the video, but this is an absurd solution that only works about 85% of the time. I have the same experience on different devices too - I’ve streamed directly to my Apple TV, to my AirPlay-compatible TV at home, to my office AirPlay-compatible TV, and it is the same experience everywhere. I want to continue using and loving this app, but I don’t know that I can rationalize renewing my subscription for a third year for a VIDEO app with such terribly buggy AirPlay functionality.

Excellent app suite. I really love this and the other down dog apps. Great customization and lots of bang for your buck! You can tailor the length of workout, the body part to focus on, and your skill level for example. It’s a great supplement to some of the bigger fitness app companies. I use it a lot when I want to fit in a super short workout and when I travel. I do have a few suggestions for improvements. First, a dedicated Apple TV app would be nice. You can airplay to your tv but it is sometime really buggy and stops the app from playing. I also wish there was more integration of apple health. The most that gets shared with apple health is that you did a workout, and sometimes your heart rate (not all apps). I’d love full use of all the metrics (calories, HR etc). But overall even if none of these updates happen, this is a wonderful set of apps and I highly recommend them!

LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!. This app has been so helpful in reducing my stress and being able to sleep. I’ve been super stressed working long hours for a hospital during COVID and I can’t imagine a more supportive and caring company. Customer service is amazing. The workouts are fantastic. If I have only 10 min to workout I can customize that up to 90 min. I can change the voice of the instruction I hear. Videos with the movements are on most. Yoga Nindra for sleep doesn’t have video and I have always fallen asleep to that. I find it’s better to set yoga nindra on a longer setting like 35 min vs shorter because they seem to talk faster on the shorter minutes- who knows at what min I fall asleep, just glad it’s working when there’s so much on my mind. Thank you guys SO much. I tell everyone about this app. I’ve also done the 7 min HIT and barre classes too on your other apps. All great!

The best yoga app hands down. I used to do yoga 7x/day. I had to stop bc I relocated and there is no good yoga near me anymore. This amazing app gives exactly what I need: * diversity every time I select a class * different levels for when I'm not feeling it or for when I'm ready to take the world * the chance to use their music or mine. I just put mine in the background and this app starts the class without playing their list * Any. Duration. Any. How awesome is that? * Clear precise instructions * Challenging poses I tried every other app out there. I even paid for one. Ok classes but they never change. This app class is different every time. That's what I love. I take intermediate 2 and I can't wait to try the Advance. But only when my body stops feeling challenged with Interm2. I will buy the yearly membership when they offer the discount.

Quality content. As a content manager for a website, I have a lot of appreciation for the way this app is put together and the content on it. It’s easy to navigate, thoughtfully put together and extremely customizable. I’ve tried other yoga apps but this one is by far the best. If you’re new to yoga, you can set it up so that the instructor provides information on what you should be doing and how it should feel. You can even add in extra time, which will allow you to focus on getting the pose right. As you improve, you can alter the settings to have the instructor simply tell you the pose. So you can focus on your breathing and mindfulness. Thank you for the free 6 months! What an amazing gift during this time. And no they did not ask me to write this review in exchange for the 6 months. I’m happily giving the review and amazed by their generosity. When my trial is up, I have every intention of renewing for a year. Thank you again!

New Lease on Life. When my chiropractor recommended I start yoga I was not enthusiastic. I didn’t want to join another club, run another errand, or be subject to someone else’s class times. This App allows me to take the class I want, when I want, and at the level of difficulty I can handle that day. I can do this at home or in a hotel gym whenever suits me. When I first started the pose explanations were perfect for a beginner and I’ve since adjusted them to be less detailed and more with my flow. I’ve also taken a couple of group classes (in person) and felt confident in both my ability to participate physically as well as follow along and know what the instructors were talking about. This App has really helped me both physically and mentally and I recommend it to those considering helping themselves in this area.

A testimonial with Progress Update. When I first got the app in May 2018, I used it maybe 4 times until using it again in December 2019. I could barely touch my knees due to inflexibility, I couldn’t hold a down dog position, let’s not go into balances.. because there was little to none. At 177lbs and a 6’2 male I set out on my journey to find better flexibility, balance and a bit of time to myself. This is where Down Dog has me hooked, since Dec 2018 I have found more than just my goals, I’ve surpassed them and found myself over and over through the app. The app guided me almost at time at a pace that pushed me and other times that nurtured my needs to move to more complex poses. On days I was tired I would knock it down a notch from Begginer 2 to 1 and it would be there almost as if it knew exactly which spots I needed to stretch. Today I can touch my toes, I can do more than that, I have been able to find more strength within that I couldn’t imagine I had, at times where things were hard personally I felt as if i had the calm from a 30 min session that would center me. I’ve tried other apps, paid or free... none can compare to the quality of the descriptions and the video layout. I’ve recommended it to over 50 people, friends or strangers. My only words are give it a try, it works for me.

What you need when you need it. Apologies for the long review but there is a lot packed into this app! I started using it during the CoVid lockdown because I wasn’t going to the gym. I love all the different variations of music and voices. I’ve been able to explore different types of yoga, and the ability to customize experience level and set a ‘boost’ of cardio when I want to is awesome. I’ve kept my subscription even after going back to the gym 2 years ago. My workout partner didn’t ‘do’ yoga, but the app has made it easy to incorporate beginner yoga into our recovery routine. I recently stumbled across the meditation setting and set it for 5 minutes. The topic was interesting, random, and I wasn’t bored at all. Now I’m trying to take 5-10 minutes in the middle of each day to listen to a topic. Getting my brain to ‘reset’ to a random topic makes my head clearer and the rest of the day more enjoyable. Give the app a try!

Great yoga instruction. I’ve been practicing yoga for about ten years, sometimes regularly, sometimes not. I initially downloaded this app in March during their pandemic giveaway, searching for some form of exercise as I couldn’t go to the gym or classes anymore. I really enjoy the instruction and that it’s varied each time. There’s good pacing to the class and I like that it’s a video of a real person. After the free period ended I tried other apps, but they’re not nearly as good so I paid for a year of Down Dog. I like that I can change up the length of the practice depending on how much time I have and all of the other customization options. I’m pretty solidly in the intermediate category, and there are some new and interesting poses mixed in. I’d be careful really pushing myself since there’s no instructor on hand, but this app is the next best thing to an in-person class.

Perfect for all levels. I don't usually write reviews, but this app deserves it. It has helped me return to daily practice after about a year of only practicing sporadically, and that is invaluable! I love how customizable this app is. No matter how much or how little time I have, it offers a practice to suit my needs. Options range from "restorative" to "full practice" (with other options in between) and you can select various areas of focus, or "boosts." So whether you're looking for a 90-minute hip-opening sequence or a 15 minute aerobic boost before work, you can find it here. The levels are appropriately described for my experience. I have been practicing for 5 years. On days devoted to yoga, the advanced setting is a perfect challenge. If I'm recovering for a run or just wanting something less intense, I can pick one of the intermediates (they have a 1 and a 2) that will meet me right where I am that day. I enjoy their playlists in general, but if a song doesn't suit me, I can skip it easily. If there's one I love, this app will show me the whole playlist afterwards. The instructions are clear and the app feels thoughtfully arranged and designed. If I choose to subscribe, the cost is pretty reasonable considering the benefits. One thing I would love would be to download the practices so I can do them when I don't have internet service. I'm not sure if this is an option, but it would add just one more excellent aspect to an awesome app.

Videos are broken and practices aren’t possible to do anymore. Loved the app and always had amazing practices, but haven’t been able to use it in months because the videos won’t play properly anymore. They jump back to the first round of stretches randomly even if I only have a few left, refuse to play the poses I click to if I try to go back and continuous just resets back to the first few, pause and stutter every other pose and sometimes just refuses to play at all. It happens every practice now. I stopped using for awhile because I got annoyed and didn’t feel like it was worth my time to try and fix while sick, but now I’m not sick anymore I want to do yoga again and tried to fix this issue. I looked up what to do but found no working solutions. I’ll give it two stars instead of one even if it literally doesn’t work for me anymore because I have friends it still works for and, if you’re lucky enough to have a working video, the practices are amazing. Would love to see this issue resolved because this was my go to app.

Amazing. Tried several other apps.... I consider myself at beginner-intermediate level of yoga; I never practiced very consistently but on and off over the last ten years (dance-trained though, so good memory for movement). Recently I wanted to begin yoga again, especially while self-isolating. I’ve tried a few other yoga apps this week, & haven’t been satisfied with any until now. My problem with some of the other apps is that they move too slowly through each pose & guide too much, or if you increase the difficulty, go way too fast. With Down Dog (set to intermediate 1) I felt challenged but didn’t struggle, and my whole body felt engaged but somehow relaxed at the same time. A real yoga feeling!! I also really appreciate Down Dog making their membership free during COVID quarantines, and will def be purchasing a full membership.

Love this! Needs warmup though.... I really love this app. I did the trial session first then signed up for a yearly subscription. It’s worth it and saved 30% by purchasing on website (use same login on website as created on the app for purchase to show up in app)The audio is very clear. Love the videos and that you can customize how much instruction/explanation is given and even the pace is adjustable. This is fantastic for a yoga newbie. The length of the sessions so far is spot on and I enjoy doing it in the comfort and convenience of my home. I do wish there was a warmup at the beginning of each session...even if it was a separate video that could be done before going into the regular session. Going into it cold and not stretched out makes it more challenging to do some of the poses and adds some risk for injury. Adding a warmup would make it 5 stars. Until then I will opt to stretch/warmup the best I can on my own for a few minutes before doing a session.

Mind and Body release. I have a very busy schedule working two jobs. One job being a boxing/personal trainer. And although I stay healthy by training clients I have very little time for my own workouts and stress relief. The down dog app has been the perfect solution with the options of different types of yoga and duration or workout. I manage to get a good morning wake up ,usually with no flow as my body is still waking up, for as little as 10-15 minutes. It wakes me up, stretches me out and keeps me more aware of my body through the day. At night I release the day with restorative yoga 10-20 minutes depending on time. It stretches the overused muscles from the day and helps put my mind at rest for a full night of sleep. And whenever I find the time on a weekend I do 45-60 minutes of full practice. When I fall off schedule and loose this from my routine I feel it in my mind and body. Life is busy and full of the unexpected but Down Dog is there just as you need it.

Highly customizable. I love the options in this app! I do HIIT, yoga and barre at my gym and discovered downdog during Covid19. This has everything I need. I like the choices in levels, amount of time, “boosts,” and even voice and music. It never seems to do the same thing twice, and that is awesome! Edit: more than two years later, I’m still making great use of this app. I’ve moved to a remote area where no live classes are really available. IMO you can’t beat a live in-person class for the energy. The voice actors feel a little android-ish and the models never look at the camera or show much personality, but I’m sure this is a conscious choice on the part of the app makers, and I think it’s the right one because personalities can get tiresome or not appeal to some customers. There is a discount for students and educators as well! 😁

All Around Amazing. I’ve been using this app since 2021 and absolutely love it. There’s no pressure to do it daily or weekly and they work with your budget if needed. I always come back to this app after the hiatus’s I take in my yoga journey. I love the customizability of the routines and the extensive knowledge and tips that are provided. I’d like it if there were a tad more options for background music/noises, and if they could focus on certain joints (for example, my knees are really bad & some of my physical therapy exercises are poses similar to what is done in app.) They do have “gentle” yoga, or other types that offer different flow style and intensity, but I’d like to be able to, for example, avoid shoulder motion or elbow pressure or sideways knee movements. That’s my only complaint! Otherwise, 5/5 and I will continue to use this app for my yoga journey!

Thank you for the accessible yoga experience!!. I've been wanting to start yoga for a while but always felt really self conscious about going to a class, so down dog has been perfect for me! I love the different session lengths that are available and that you can pause at any time. The directions are clear and the visual aspect makes it even easier (especially for those who really need that visual aspect like I do). I also love that there is music available through the app and that you can turn it off to play your own. The only thing I could even think about changing is adjusting the volume settings for the speech, she sometimes gets drown out by my music and I can't figure out how to turn my music down (outside of the app) and have her stay just as loud. That being said that's just nit picky, all around a really great app and I thank the creators!!

Customized for you!. I really like this app. At first I was a little unsure because it shows you re-person doing the moves but not in "real time." But I actually find it very comforting to know that I'm used to it. I am able to choose the amount of time I have for the practice and the level of difficulty. With the free application you don't have all the options but it's still excellent. For example I just learned that I could actually turn down the music and hear the instructor's voice much more clearly under the settings options once you are in the practice. For weeks I listened to the "alt beats" music which is your only choice in the free app and I could barely hear the instructor. Now that I figured that out I'm happy! They also ask you to rate the practice after each time you use it. They do seem to change the moves if you say you don't like the practice and tell them why. This is really a great app!

Brilliant App. This app is so great, it allows you to completely customize your yoga experience. I've gone to several yoga studios and my problem is that I'm extremely particular about the environment I do yoga in - with DownDog I can easily choose an environment based on my mood (light and airy environment vs. dark and peaceful). It's extremely helpful having the instructors calm voice walking you through relaxing, breathing, and doing the poses, but it's even more helpful that she's on screen doing them for a visual reference. Additionally, the music is great. I have recommended DownDog to so many friends of mine, even yoga instructors who all have become huge fans as well. It's useful for beginner-beginners all the way through experts. If you're a fan of yoga or you're even considering giving yoga a try, this app is fantastic and I highly recommend trying it out. Your thighs may burn a little, but you won't regret it.

Amazing company that saved me through covid... and gave me a year free in tough times. Not only is this the best app I have ever used... I actually enjoy it more than classes and distractions and travel and costs. I’m able to open up this app and choose a flow that works with my body at that very moment and even zones in on certain “problem” areas all within 5-60 mins depending what I have available. But the part that got me most. At the end of my trial ... just months after covid began. I could t afford the monthly or yearly. I wrote them and they gave me a year free! I couldn’t have been more grateful since gyms and studios were closed still and then after for another 6 months! Now back on my feet and pregnant. I am able to afford it and there’s no one else I’d go with. I’ll be signing up every year! Thank you endlessly... you saved me! 4 months postpartum and again! Saving me! Time money and travel expenses obsolete. Godsend Namaste

Brought Yoga Back into My Life. Awesome app! It’s been THE KEY to getting back into yoga, specifically its ability to customize daily practice to an incredible degree: time, focus area, narration, ability level, music, etc. I’m trying to keep and improve flexibility as I age so I appreciate the app’s ability to build a sequence around that specific emphasis. The music is excellent; much better than the other app I tried. Having promised myself I am willing to accept shorter sessions if needed, the other day I intended to do forty minutes but got busy and slipped to thirty, fifteen, and finally eight minutes just so I could keep my integrity and get my yoga done. I was pleasantly surprised to find a session so short so beneficial. I tried a different app that works on Apple TV but seeing it’s clunky interface, I quickly abandoned it and came back to Down Dog. Totally happy with Down Dog and its benefits. I’m addicted to yoga again...and it feels great.

My favorite yoga app by far!. This app is fantastic. You get a new practice every time so you never get bored or you can save favorite practices to do them again. There are so many ways to customize even in the free version but the paid version is worth it for all the additional features and customizations you get. I do a lot more yoga since downloading this app. Oh and I love Chad’s voice. Not the annoying new age kind of voice you so often get with yoga videos and apps. Update: still one of my two favorite yoga apps. My only wish is that they would allow you to randomize a practice around specific poses that you want to make sure you get in the practice. Or allow you to select more than one boost. I’m a runner and use yoga mostly to maintain flexibility so I wish there was a runner specific boost too.

Nice but not for true beginners. I like this app a lot and maybe will come back but even beginner 1 at 10 minutes with normal time is not for a beginner. There are asanas that cannot be done by me. Maybe young beginners can do them. The yoga for beginners app does not provide a context or continuity to move to the app. For me I need to have something that does not assume I can wriggle into some position at beginner 1 that is highly doubtful. The random natiure while interesting does not really bring me any positive thoughts I can even do part of the 10 minutes. You should take the yoga for beginners app and build that to a true seniors or beginners focus and also have continuity between the app. I don’t think the app is intended for old folks like me at all. So I will keep the subscription but not use it. It’s just too hard and yoga is not supposed to be hard. You should have a senior 1 and senior 2 category so more of us can move in and call the app a home.

Excellent classes. I first heard about this app in an article and I was really excited to try it when I read that it would be free for a limited time due to COVID-19 limiting people from heading to the gym. I enjoyed my first class so much and ended up trying quite a few of them the first day. Let me say this app has it all: Calming music, you can choose your teacher’s voice, choose which area you prefer to focus on for that lesson, different intensities, the same lessons are not repeated over and over, and a lot more that I can’t remember off the top of my head. I’m still fairly new to yoga but so far I’m really enjoying it! My muscles are so sore the following day (in a good way) and overall I feel so much better, more energetic. Just wanted to leave a nice review and say thank you for the free lessons! I will certainly be getting a subscription later on. 😃

Great app suite. Thank you for these apps!! I got a free trial of them as a grad student during quarantine and am totally hooked. I did ballet when I was younger and have lately struggled to keep up a regular workout routine, especially as a college and grad student—I used to go to the gym or go for runs but after a few weeks my workouts would just be the last priority and I’d stop. These apps have totally transformed my lifestyle, I love that I can do a quick 7-min workout on that app if I am feeling low energy, or do yoga or barre for however long I want but still get a well-balanced session. I also hate pre-recorded sessions and especially the sentimental philosophizing that usually accompanies them, but these apps just get straight to the workout in a gentle yet encouraging way. I am hooked, these are so much better for me than trying to go to a gym or go running on the street, not just during quarantine!

Good, but I wish…. Decided to try this app combo instead of joining a gym bc, due to health issues, I can’t sustain an intense hour long session currently. Love the running app that comes with the combo. The barre and HIIT are a little too much for me unfortunately. I’d love a “pre-beginner” setting on those 😅. I’d love a pilates type option with some floor work. I mainly joined for the yoga app though and I LOVE it, but wish you could select poses you never want to do. I have a right bad shoulder and left wrist and can still share the weight, but poses like side planks on a single side or awkward bridge poses are a never. Same with my lower back - plow pose and boat pose (which is the only extra core pose they give you when you select a focus) hurt. I just modify or do something else…but wish I could select them somewhere to just always skip. So taking away a star for that. Otherwise, good value for money I think and I NEVER pay for apps.

They just want you to practice!. Many of the Yoga apps I’ve tried before are overloaded with options, yoga theory, or other largely unnecessary features, and I’ve found the barriers to entry too difficult to overcome for a beginner, daily practice. Down Dog, however, has been wonderful, letting me quickly choose the length, level of difficulty, and focus of my practice before launching into easy to follow videos accompanied by soothing instruction and music. I love the attention they give to the user, letting me customize the contents of the practice video, then adjust to my needs throughout. Additionally, in this time of financial difficulty they were incredibly generous as to allow me to use their app free of charge for a short time, and that should not go unnoticed! They just want you to practice, and do whatever they can to remove the challenges standing between you and a more peaceful and stretched day.

Thank you ❤️. I downloaded this app in 2020 during the beginning of THE ORDEAL. I had just joined an in person studio and ofc they cancelled classes. I also lost my livelihood at that time and when I couldn’t afford the app, they actually gifted me a year free and I’ve been a loyal user ever since. This app and the hiit app have really been clutch for me as an immune compromised person who can’t workout at a gym. I love it, but I do wish the models they had were more inclusive. It would be amazing to see someone with dark skin or someone with fat or someone trans 🤎 I love that there are so many styles to choose from, that they let you choose body areas to focus on, and that they let you use your own music, too. Unless something really drastic changes with this app that affects usability, I’ll be on here for a long time to come. (I also think the phrases that come up while you’re loading the app are funny - “developing sensitivity to gluten”…)

Never done yoga before. I’ve been a power lifter for about 4 year’s. A friend told me Down Dog was free for a few months when the COVID-19 pandemic started, and with my gym being closed I need something else to take up slack, so I gave it a shot. I didn’t think I’d like it. I’m a guy and my mentality was that Yoga was ladies, and scrawny guys who like to run marathons - not big strong powerlifters. I totally had my perspective changed after just a couple practices! I like that I can chose a duration, style, and focus area. It makes it all that much easier to get some exercise in even if I only have 15 minutes. It’s made me realize just how stiff and inflexible I am, and working on mobility and flexibility will do nothing but good when I can actually get back to barbell training. The app is great and I’d recommend it to anyone, especially introverts like me who’d rather not have to go to a group session to exercise.

Best workout app ever. I have been doing yoga for about two years now, and I love this app so much. I work so many hours, and I almost never have time to go to my yoga gym becuase by the time I am finished with my crazy long day, I either am too tired to drive, or too tired to do a full hour of yoga. This app lets you choose the length, anywhere from 7 minutes to over an hour. This is a good app for any level of yoga, and what’s so great is if you’re not even super into yoga, they offer multiple different apps. I have used down dog, 7 min workout and the HIIT app and I love those. I have the Barre but have not tried that yet. This app is by far my most used app. If you don’t have it, or are worried about not thinking getting premium is worth it, let me tell you that I have never purchased a premium of anything and this app is 100% worth your money.

Absolutely Perfect. I can’t begin to describe how helpful this app has been to me. I’m abroad in Germany and the area I live in is very rural. So it’s not like I can Google a yoga class. I’ve been using this app since the quarantine started in the middle of March and this app has been heaven. I’ve tried a few apps in the past and it was just so much clutter and fluff from the meal plans and merchandising, and things I could care less about. Then I found Down Dog, and all I need to do is press “Start”, and that’s it. Which is perfect for me. No endless swiping through the many programs and becoming overwhelmed. I’m by no means advanced in Yoga, but the poses from beginner 1-2 have been just right for me. I’ve actually learned my breathing better and the music is extremely helpful getting through those long poses. I’ve definitely bopped through some!! Give this app a try and it will not disappoint! Sarah

LOVE. I’ve been using this app throughout the pandemic. They lured me in with their deals at first. Then I renewed my subscription. Then money was tight and I needed to cancel. I emailed them about my circumstances and they very kindly gave me 6 months free. This app started out excellent when I first got it in Spring 2020, and at this point (December 2021) it is even better. You get so much variety and so many options for how you can practice. I did a 200hr yoga teacher training back in the day and this app frequently guides me through postures I’ve either never seen before or haven’t tried in a WHILE. Full price, the subscription is well worth it, but they provide sales occasionally with excellent discounts. Whether you’re trying to isolate due to COVID or simply trying to get more yoga in without spending insane amounts of money on in person classes, this app is a great choice. And for those who still want to go in person, there’s no reason you can’t do both. One option is to buy a 5 class pack at your studio to last you a couple months and supplement in between classes with the app. It just isn’t possible for most of us to spend $100s of dollars a month on yoga. Down Dog is making yoga accessible for more people, and I freaking love that. In case I forgot to mention it… GET THIS APP!!

Amazing...really!. I, honestly, never post reviews, but this app was worthy of one. I'm pretty athletic, but wanted to start introducing yoga as a compliment to HIIT workouts and cardio workouts to build muscle strength and tone. I LOVE these workouts. There are so many options, especially the ability to change the experience level as you become more accustomed to the practices, and it's FREE! One of the things I don't like about other yoga apps is that the practices are so short or they really don't feel like a full workout. This app totally changes that for you and meets all my needs! It's super helpful because you can change the pace at which directions are being given to you (slow, normal, fast) or get rid of them all together if you're feeling really confident and comfortable with the workout. And you can flipping SAVE your workouts you like to do again😍. Otherwise it'll just generate a random one based on the requirements you set. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this app!
