Maps?. I just updated and I have a data connection and maps don't load at all.

Good but Elevation maps seem incomplete. The elevation maps have no Y-axis!? The profile is given, but there’s no way to tell the change in elevation height; no measurement is given. I have the Wise Pilgrim app for Finisterre and the change in elevation IS meters shown on the maps. Without it the map is not very useful-showing only relative height, which make it impossible to tell if something is just a dip or a mountain. I love all the details and the ease of access. It would be great if there were a way to mark and “favorite” any sites or even Albergue! Otherwise there is no way to anticipate And any work reading or planning ahead is lost over forgotten.

Bug: No Route With Offline Maps. On iPhone 13 Pro with iOS 16.5.1, no route appears on the offline map. This is a pretty significant bug considering offline maps are one of the features that are advertised as what you are paying for. There is also not a clear way to submit a bug report via the app or website, so my only option is through this review.

Wont open no support?. I purchased this ap, it wont open. I deleted and reloaded and still wont open. Support link leads me to their website with no technical support. Can i have a refund?

App won’t show Redondela info. I’m using this app for the Redondela to Santiago route. When I click on Redondela, it flashes the info then immediately goes blank. This happens on both my iPhone and iPad. The info on the other cities seem to be working. Help! I leave for my Camino on June 17!

Great for Portuguese section of the Camino. This app and the Off-line maps were a fabulous resource for our Camino trip. We used it extensively and appreciated being able to know that we were on the right track when arrows were sparse.

I downloaded the entire map and cannot open on the app. Useless purchase for my recent Camino. Didn’t work.

Awesome App!. Used this during Porto to Santiago and it was quite helpful to help with the mileage. Right now, I can’t seem to get to the Spirtual Variant Section. It does not show up on my IPad even after reloading it.

Promising but broken.. A few points to start. I used it. It worked to get me through the Camino. I’m comparing it to the unfortunately defunct Camino Ninja app. The most annoying bug is that it won’t zoom to your current position without crashing. At least on my phone. If this had behaved better, I wouldn’t have been quite as annoyed with the app, especially after paying for it. I was constantly having to select my route and scroll for a ridiculous amount of time to find my position. There’s some inconsistency in links within the app. Sometimes clicking the elevation profile brings up the profile for the wrong route. Selecting a town on the map doesn’t seem to display a list of accommodations there, while selecting it from the list-view of the route does. There really should be a better way to visualize stages. Being able to select a desired end point using current position (or closest official point to current position) and visualize elevation, distance, and services only along that stretch would be better. Again, it worked. I guess I got my money’s worth. Still a bit disappointing though.

Update has bugs. I’m on the Camino now and needing to use the app but some sections have descriptions in English, others in German....??? I bought the English version and it was fine before the update. Saw that they fixed the maps from crashing constantly. As of March 2, 2020.

No contact info!. Type is unnecessarily too small!! I am trying to use it right now on the Camino Portuguese central route and it is both out of date and missing some critical information. I realize putting an app together is not an easy task, but this paid one isn’t practical to actually use on the Camino. There are some major errors in the data and Wise Pilgrim does not offer a way to contact them about it. Overall, it’s not worth getting it.

Online maps is not working!! **update!. I am a few days into my Camino, and the online maps are no longer working. I've depended on this app so far. I've deleted the app, and re downloaded-- but no luck. I don't see how to contact the developer to ask if it is going to be fixed. Could really use some support!! Normally love the app! I will change my rating when it gets fixed. **maps have been down for 24 hours. I checked my Frances Route app I purchased from Wise Pilgrim, and the maps work fine. But obviously you can't see the Portuguese Route on the Frances app. I'm disheartened that there is no way to ask the developer what's going on. And that the app has been down for 24 hours. (That really matters when you are on day 5 of the trail). Update: got ahold of the developer and he is promptly fixing the issue. He found the bug, and has submitted it to Apple. Hopefully they move quickly!

Won’t work on iPhone X. Hi, I’ve purchased this app and cannot get it to work on iPhone X is there an upgrade or fix for that ?

Great for Portuguese Coastal and Litoral. Absolutely loved this app for navigation on the Portuguese coastal/Litoral Camino. Was spot on for navigating 99%. Not that this would be a difficult route to navigate by simply following the arrows and signs most of the way, but there were several times, especially in larger towns and cities that the app was very useful for not getting lost. Loved that it combined the coastal and Litoral routes. Also very good for the Spiritual Variant, which I highly recommend. Only used this for Navigation, and there are other resources for other info.

(RESOLVED) App won’t open on my new iPhone. Downloaded Apr 27, 2018. When I tried to open it on my iPhone X it immediately closes. I read another review saying to open it 3-4 times in a row. After that it opened and now it works. This needs to be fixed. Also no way to contact the developer except through this review. That’s why it gets 4 stars. Now that it is working, it has lots of good information I will be using on my Camino in May.

Very helpful. While this app is very helpful, no one source should be your guide. I use three different sources for guidance. The map function was very helpful on the Frances route putting me back on the route while in a large town. I believe this app should be part of your journey.

Offline maps do not show Camino path. We purchased this app for offline use. The offline maps downloaded, but the Camino route is not shown superimposed on the offline maps - only the stages are shown. The route is shown on satellite and standard maps, but these are not usable without cell service. So the app is essentially useless for navigation without cell service. I hope the developers address this issue!

Missing info?. Hi Michael, I love your apps, but with the Portuguese Coastal route it appears that there is something missing as Vigo isn’t there though it talks about getting through Vigo and the detail ends with Castrelos Park (though there this no detail either only the kms info). Am I missing something? Should I be switching to another section? Thanks!

Great app. I used this app extensively on my recent Camino from Porto to SDC. As it was winter some of the places weren’t open. However, all in all it was fantastic and i relied on it in places where I thought that trail was unclear. I think the distances are a little bit different from the wayside markers but no big deal. It would be useful if it would be possible to have the ability to calculate distances from current location to the next milestone. An another might be to record the route from Vila do Conde to Arcos. Great app and will purchase another one for my next Camino.

Totally Recommend this App. I recently used this app to walk the coastal route from Porto to Santiago. It was extremely helpful and gave great tips on what to see along the way. I downloaded the map and could view where I was on the trail when offline, along with the information for each area. I think the way-markers have been improved and new ones built and found the directions were easy to follow. Totally recommended.

Not able to access download maps. I bought this today and cannot access the downloaded maps. The maps were my reason for purchasing the app. Very disappointing Also could not find any way of contacting the app developers. I would have preferred to have contacted them and tried to sort this out before I left this review but I had no other access that I could find.

Fantastic App. Invaluable tool for my Camino Portuguese. I love the “breadcrumbs“. When used with my location they guided me with confidence. I also used Wise Pilgrim to walk the camino in reverse back to Porto. It worked flawlessly. Especially helpful are the links to the various accommodations. Made making a reservation a breeze. Can’t recommend enough!

Portuguese Camino. On first impression, this looks like a good resource, both to prepare for, and to bring along and use while walking The Portuguese Way. On initial read, I found the author’s approach of blurring the Coastal Route - Caminho da Costa with that of the Seaside Route - the Senda Litoral, a touch confusing, as they are in fact two separate routes. The historic coastal Portuguese route, dating back to the 1700s, is the Caminho da Costa which is different from the more touristy and newer seaside route known as the The Senda Litoral. I do however appreciate the significant work that went into compiling a massive amount of information into a visually appealing format. Buen Camino! Happy Trails!
