Sundial Solar & Lunar Time App Description & Overview

What is sundial solar & lunar time app? Sundial is the app you didn't know you needed, showing vital info about the sun and moon any time, anywhere. Never wonder when the sun will set or rise again!

Tracking the sun and moon is something people have done for thousands of years but it's never been easier than it is today with Sundial. Sundial puts solar and lunar information into the palm of your hand and, thanks to the Apple Watch app, onto your wrist as well!

Sundial is an app designed to give everyone access to the sun and moon in ways they don't normally have it. Perfect for runners, hikers, campers, boaters, sailors, pilots, gardeners, farmers, photographers, film/tv production crew, astronomers, astrophotographers, solar installers, and travelers of all kinds. Sundial is an app for anyone who just needs to know when it'll get light and dark.

Sundial provides a one-of-a-kind display of the sun and moon's rise and set cycle over the 24-hour day. As the seasons change, the yellow Òsun is outÓ arc informs you of the precious daylight hours, shrinking during winter months and expanding as summer approaches. The white inner arc represents when the moon is visible in the sky. Civil, nautical, and astronomical twilights are also shown on the solar dial in shades of blue.

Create alerts for one of 24 different solar and lunar events and Sundial will tell you about them Ð without you ever having to open the app.

The 24 events that support notifications include:

- Sunrise, solar mid-morning, solar noon, solar mid-afternoon, sunset, and solar midnight
- Civil twilight (dawn/dusk), nautical twilight, and astronomical twilight
- Moonrise, lunar noon, moonset, and lunar midnight
- Moon phases: full moon, new moon, first quarter moon, and last quarter moon
- Astronomical seasons: March equinox, June solstice, September equinox, and December solstice

All notifications can be customized to alert you minutes, hours, and even days before an event takes place. Sundial can give you plenty of notice that you need to be ready for a sunrise, sunset, and more. Like to walk your dog for 30 minutes before dusk? Sundial can help you with that!

There's more, too!

Sundial. Overall I really like the app. I love the level of detail it provides. I have installed in on my Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad. One suggestion I would make for your next upgrade is to be able to sort the locations in the Favorites list, i.e., to be able to move the items in the list up or down. A great app and well worth the small investment to have all the features.

Great app for runners, hikers or walkers.. I like to time the start of my runs so I am on the trail when the sun rises. Gives me a boost of energy when the sun come up. Sundial makes this very easy to do. Plus the app is internet free; there is no backend server keeping track of your personal data. Also Sundial is easy on your battery. Alerts are very useful. Sundial is better than any of the other sun rise/sun set apps I looked at. Respect to the developer. Best app on my phone.

Great app!. I love that this app is accurate, intuitive to use, and provides as much or as little information as I want. I really appreciate how customizable it is and the ability to set alerts. I also love that it’s a one time purchase; I think we are all tired of everything becoming subscription-based and it’s refreshing to find an app that doesn’t do this. I have only one suggestion: Maybe provide a pricing bundle that combines Plus with widgets, for customers without an Apple Watch? I am happy to pay, but more options would be nice too.

Update review. I didn't realize this was an independently made app. I'm used to companies putting every little detail behind a pay wall nowadays. Anyways, I've used this app for as long as I can remember, I have other sun and moon apps but this is the most accurate and comprehensive. If I had an apple watch I would most certainly use the widget that shows the dial itself because of how much info it packs without being complicated. (Alas I don't have one) Great app.

Amazing features, design, support, and tones!. I absolutely love this app and tell everyone about it! I enjoy being more in tune with the rhythms of nature, so this app allows me to be alerted for sunrises and sunsets and new moons and full moons. The developers keep adding features and making it more valuable all the time. One of the best parts are the great tones that they have available for alerts.

Amazing app! For our hens and for us!!. I was looking for something that allowed me to put the hens to bed in the evening at sunset, get a good nights sleep, and wake up just before the hens started squawking that they wanted out into their day pen at sunrise (don’t know if the neighbors appreciate their vocals as much as I do lol). The fact that this app offers not one but all three twilights, a.m. as well as p.m., has me over the moon in love with it! I can let the hens out at morning civil twilight, put them to bed at evening civil twilight, and then set the last alarm for nautical twilight to get a wonderful night sleep, in tune with my body and the rotation of the earth :-) LOVE LOVE LOVE this app

Clear, bold graphic displays of sun &moon days. Initially my reaction was, “I guess this’ll do,” but now I’m enthusiastic about this app. New moon is tomorrow, and Equinox is in four or five days. NOW, it’s absolutely cool to see how the markers line up. The dots for sunrise & moonrise are next to each other. The dots for noon and moon peak will be adjacent tomorrow, and it’s plain as day that next week the chord of the sun will be half a circle. If the developers add the times for for astronomical & civil dawn and dusk, this app will be a definite 5!!

Apple Watch app is back!. I am so thrilled that the Apple Watch app is back! The new complications are super well done. I could not be more excited! Thank you! 5 stars! PREVIOUS REVIEW: Watch app was great, and the watch face complication was phenomenal—I used it literally every day. Developer has posted about it being gone, and reasons why, but this is depressing. Going to uninstall now. This app may be right for you, but it no longer is for me.

Useful and easy to use. I have been enjoying this app for awhile now. It has lots of nifty information, laid out comprehensibly. Originally I mostly just wanted to know the cycle of the moon, but have really liked being able to set alarms based on things like sunset. I have one set to remind me to walk my dog while it’s still light out! The graphic representation of the solar and lunar cycles of each day also feels really intuitive to me.

Great, but..... The app itself is fantastic. However, the Apple Watch complication stops updating after about a week and a half of being on my watch face. It will run as a complication flawlessly, and then, 7-10 days after, it just stops updating the complication. This is my primary use for the app (replacing the “Soler” complication), so it ends up not meeting what I need it to. Again, app itself is absolutely fantastic. The complication needs to be updated so it stays as live as the app.

Amazing, blown away!. This app is perfect if you’re looking for something to help you plan photography, or videography, around the sun and/ moon! Along with everything about it being awesome, the customer service is great! They responded to my emails within 12-24 hours every time, if not way faster than that. And they were really nice! Hope this review is helpful.

This is the one. If you are looking for sun and moon data this is your app. Using the free version a couple hours I had to buy the full version. I use it mainly on my watch where all the options are amazing even without a phone and no need to leave the battery draining gps on. As great as the options and watch faces are, using it on the phone may even be better. Give it a try, then buy the full verdion.

Always better. I’ve had this app for a while.(over a year )I use it quite a bit don’t know if that makes me odd or informed. It was perfectly fine long time ago when I got it and it has done nothing but steadily get better and they will listen to your suggestions.

Watch App is back!!!. My job requires me to know when civil twilight is every day, and this app handily tells me that. I first paid for it because I could stick it on my watch and know at a glance everything I needed to know. So I was really bummed when the developer dropped support for the watch. I could still use the main app of course, but the nerd in me really loved just looking at my wrist. I was graciously offered my money back if I wanted, but I chose not to, because I wanted to encourage the developer to keep working on this beautiful app and, as a software engineer, I know how these things go. And now I am SO HAPPY to see that not only is the watch app back, but back with a vengeance! The configurability of the widgets and complications is just stunning. The only downside is that now I’m going to be fiddling with this for weeks in order to find what arrangements are “just right” for me. Thanks so much for standing by your product and its continued improvement.

Love it! Developer very passionate!. I honestly just downloaded it and immediately purchased the full version. Why? You can feel the love and dedication from the developer to provide the best info and explanations about solar and lunar cycles! I meditate a few times a day and wanted to implement more awareness of the times of day when it would be part of a certain cycle or in between them. Thank you for all your passionate work! Looking forward to your new stuff and will recommend to my students ❤️🙏🏼

Excellent Info in a Beautiful, Clean Design. In my quest (I’m a librarian) for an app that would display daily and monthly solar and lunar phases, I did a little research and found this one was very well-rated over and over for its breadth of data, its friendly interface, and its features. Since this app kept floating to the top, I downloaded it and I have been a Basic user for a few months. I just love it, and I find myself using it often. It is deceptively simple, due to its clean design, but packed with information, which I enjoy browsing. Some practical uses: • I like to know when the full moon is coming up for viewing (and sometimes to confirm a string of bizarre behavior, although that seems to have ramped up to “daily” in 2022). • When we’re working in the yard, it’s great to see how much daylight we have left. • When we’re traveling and want to view a sunrise or a sunset, we can see the time for that, no matter where we are in the world. • I have a daily alert set for dusk, to remind me to bring in our suet and birdfeeders, before they are accosted by marauding raccoons from the woods. • The app is also a terrific learning tool, both for us, ourselves, and for us to use as we help introduce our 5-year-old granddaughter to these natural, ancient rhythms and phases. Very pleased - a great app. I plan on upgrading for more personal tinkering and preferences. Highly recommend!

Fan-freakin’-tastic. The genius of some people. I like to walk at sunrise and prepare to set out about 30 minutes prior to the event. Until I stumbled across this app it’s been a minor pain in the derrière keeping up with time of sunrise from week to week but this app sounds an alarm, I get dressed, and I walk out the door. Seriously cool, boys and girls. UPDATE: this app would be a bit cooler if it had an owl’s hoot for use as an alarm for sunset and maybe a slightly different one for moonrise.

Best App Ever!. I have installed several hundred apps over the years, and I have to say this is the most well thought out and coolest app I’ve ever seen. After an initial glitch which the developer personally reached out to me on, and was very helpful in resolving, it has worked flawlessly. The fact that it works on my phone, iPad and watch is absolutely awesome. There is so much information available in the app that I can’t think of another thing that should be added. It is well worth the $3 upgrade.

A soothing reminder in these times. I downloaded Sundial back in November and immediately set an alarm for sunset. Every day I got an owl hoot, first earlier and earlier, and then, after the Solstice, later and later. I and my friends, when they're with me, have started to pause where we are and raise a toast to the sun every day. It is a comfort. Thank you!

User-Friendly Instant Favorite. This app delivers everything I expected it to and then some. The app is highly customizable and settings are delightfully easy to understand. The app functions well for tracking solar and lunar cycles on its own, and I found the in app purchase price to be quite modest given the obvious amount of work that's gone in to making this app. My only request would be a more customizable Today widget, but I feel that's a nitpick at this point.

Terrific design, excellent functionality. This app is designed so cleverly. The representation of various aspects of solar and lunar cycles is, well, stellar. My only request would be to make this available as a screensaver app so that I could leave the screen open with the clock appearing. This would be the perfect screensaver for when the phone is charging in the dock on my desk. Overall, very well done. Highly recommended.

Best Solar and Lunar Data App. My work is often done at night so having a quick reference for sunset/sunrise and moon set/rise as well as illumination % is huge. Even more so is the easy visual representation to determine the moon position for my shift time. I haven’t seen a better or easy app out there! Also, I emailed the developer about an extra feature and it was added! So helpful to be able to scroll several days ahead for planning or behind for previous conditions. I love this app and highly recommend it.

Why is moon always shown at same position as sun?. It’s a useful app, but I cannot for the life of me understand all the 5-star reviews in the face of a huge bug: in the graphic display, the moon is always shown at the same position as the sun. That should occur only during a new moon. With a full moon, for instance, the moon should be 180 degrees away from the sun. Quarter moons should be 90 degrees away. Surely other users have noticed this! Am I missing something?

Detailed but simple to understand. Very impressed with the app, and it’s well worth buying the full version to support the developers considering the quality. None of my weather apps had notifications for some of the things included here which was what I was looking for, and the layout is both detailed but presented in a way that’s aesthetically pleasing and easy to understand at a glance

I love your app!. Hi there, I love your app, it is so simple and clean but with a lot of options to customize. I liked it so much that I had to get premium!!! I love the alerts and I use them every day as I get to work before sunrise and leave after sunset!! I really wish there were options for notifications on the equinoxes and solstices, and other large-scale events like that! I don’t know if that would be feasible but I think it would add some fun and utility to the app. Thank you for your hard work on this app :)

5 stars. Only improvement I could think of would be to let us select a date in the future or in the past. Absolutely gorgeous user interface and my hat is off to you for designing a great app for free! Update: they've implemented this functionality at some point and it's actually a 7 star app on a 5 point scale!

A bright idea. Much of my natural joy in life comes from plenty of sunshine in the day and moonbeams at night. Though it is winter now and has been overcast for over a week this app is like being given the promise that, “The sun will come out tomorrow!” Intelligently designed and useable. Love the visual graphic of sun and moon arcs around the 24 hour period. Creates an anticipation for sunrise, and awareness of sunsets that I will always take the chance to watch when I can. This app brings the sun around! Thank you for developing it and making it readily available!

I Use This App Every Day!!. Love this app! It’s just what I’ve been looking for! The visual graphics are prefect, and all the different specifications of sunlight and moonlight are comprehensive. I like to know sunrise and sunset, also knowing dawn and dusk now has been a pleasant enlightening for knowing how much longer you will be able to see at night, and when you will start seeing daylight in the morning. And it’s come in handy countless times for knowing how much daylight is left if I’m working in the yard or want to take the trash out before it’s totally dark. Or when will the wildlife start stirring outside at the first light of dawn- know I know the time! Get this app- if you like watching the sky, connecting with Mother Earth- you will love it!!

Fun and functional. I like the ability to know when the sun comes up and goes down because I am blind and cannot tell when I should turn on lights. This new version contains more relevant sounds for various times such as birds for sunrise and crickets for sunset. I haven’t checked them all out yet. It would be interesting to have sounds reflecting new moon and full moon, just for fun. Thank you for this functional and fun app.

Great design, responsive developer. EDIT: the issue has been fixed! Thank you! Love this app 🙂🙂🙂 ~~~ I primarily bought this app for the watch widget which is very nice when it works. For $15 i got the watch and homescreen widgets. Unfortunately, the watch widget is very buggy. It frequently doesn’t show the correct sun position for my location (but does once I click through to the watch app). Furthermore the widget completely goes blank/black once my series 7 switches to the always on (dimmer) display. It’s really too bad because I like the design and info of this app a lot. I tried emailing the app developer weeks ago but they never replied.

Wonderful App! Nothing else like it 🌞🌝👍. Thank you so much for this app! I've been searching for something like this for years. A simple, visual representation of of the setting and rising of the sun and moon. Rather than just listing times or showing the common "sine wave" type graph, it shows the information on an intuitive 24 clock face. It's like a fancy complication on an expensive watch. Almost makes me want to get an Apple watch so I can have it on my wrist. I would gladly pay $5 for this, but it's free! Suggestion: the widget should have the same clock face as the app, just smaller.

It’s ok. I don’t like that they killed the classic widget, but hey, progress. Otherwise it’s a decent assortment of solar and lunar info, and a good selection of widgets (must pay in-app purchase for plus+ or whatever the f they call it). I use in combination with an app called “Moon,” which fills in the gaps of functionality and widgets (eg. Solar/lunar elevation chart widget). Should also mention that the shiny new widgets have been a rocky road in terms of development in the first months of their release—some days the widgets don’t load properly, or just show a black square. Will update of the situation gets better, but just saying, the dev charges premium prices fo amateur execution of the app. I’d probably look elsewhere if I hadn’t sunk money into it already for plus. So, eh.

absolutely love this app!!!. I use this app on a daily basis, especially now there's widget support. I'm totally blind, which makes the app even more useful since I can't tell when it's light or dark. The developer has been excellent in responding to any questions I've had. In addition, I'm so glad this app has returned to watch os. I'm also an astronomy nerd, so there's that haha. Keep up the great work!

At last what I was looking for!. All I wanted was an app that would enable me to use twilight and sunrise/sunset times as an alarm clock! I don’t care about “golden hour” or photography considerations or sunset forecasts. You’d think something so basic would be easy to find. This app does exactly what I want and thankfully it includes nautical and civil dawn/twilight as well. My only suggestions would be to be able to custom calculate angles of the sun beyond the set points, but the set points are quite convenient as they are. Buy the premium version - it’s worth it!

WHEN IT COMES TO SAFETY YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR QUALITY. Before sunrise and after sunset, my neighborhood is becoming more challenging to live in. This app allows me to set an alarm(s) to notify me when I should be on my home before sunset (or light quality decreases). You can never err when it comes to safety. If this was a monthly subscription I would be happy to render payment.

Excellent!. Being blind, I think it’s good for me to know what the sun and moon are doing. Until I had this app, it was hard for me to know when it was getting dark and how dark it would be at night based upon the moon’s illumination. For safety reasons, I try not to be out alone for too long in certain places after dark. Besides all that, I think it’s kind of cool and interesting to know what the sun and moon are doing. Now it would be cool to know when the equinoxes and solstices are.:-)

Has it all. I am old school and don't use any accessory apps on my phone. I don't have games etc. This is the only app I pay for. And I love it. Using the alarms I know when it is going to get dark and I can plan to get done what I am working on. I need to hurry up because it will be dark in xyz hours. Great App if your day depends on sunlight. - Also for my fishing I use the moon feature. Very important for my fishing.

Wonderful app!. This app packs a lot of information into an aesthetically pleasing format. I also greatly appreciate the iPad and Apple Watch apps that allow me to access and view this information from multiple platforms. I’ve looked at many similar apps, but I’ve found this one to be superior to its competitors. Can you tell that I like this 😉? The only suggestion I would make is including times for the Golden hour. Otherwise, I have no complaints whatsoever!

Just what I was looking for. Believe it or not, I’ve been looking forever for an app that allows me to set custom notifications based on solar and lunar events. I’m so glad I finally found an app that lets me do just that. One feature this app doesn’t have that I would like, because I might be a bit obsessive, would be the ability to create notifications based around nautical and astronomical dawn and dusk in addition to what is already available. But overall, great app and definitely worth space on your phone.

WATCH Support is Back!!!. I’ve owned this app for a few years and loved every part of it. But when the developer ceased support for the Apple Watch a while back, it wasn’t nearly as useful for me and I ended up deleting it. It was very disappointing and I found a replacement which wasn’t nearly as good, but I need a sunrise/sunset complication on my watch that is more appealing than the stock complication. Not only is this app a five-star favorite of mine, the return of WATCH support and the catalog of every complication you could think of makes this app better than ever before. Many, many thanks to the developer for bringing it back to the WATCH. And please don’t remove it ever again!

Great way to make moon and sunset plans. This is the best app I have come across to figure out both moon and sunrise/sunset plans. When biking in New England knowing the sunrise is important - you can plan on your headlight batteries making it through daybreak on the early morning rides. And the UX is superior. Thanks for the app. Would give it 10 stars if it could also do tides at a selected location. Tides are a moon thing …

Awesome!. Have been using it for almost a year and love it! I rarely buy apps or leave reviews but I feel like the fish from Spongebob who had Jellyfish Jelly for the first time lol🤣 it does everything I want it to. Side note: I had the free version for almost a year and finally decided to go Pro. The best part is the free version had no annoying adds (thank you), I was able to set up my alerts( you can only do one at a time on the free) and it tells you the percentages/stages of the sun and moon. Now I’m fancy and can do all the alerts I want🤪. I was not affected by the update pertaining to the Apple Watch. To all the people complaining about it: make your own app and add it your App, there problem solved😇. Overall, this is a pretty cool app with great features free or premium.

Over The Top. I don’t write app reviews but this app is truly amazing. The ability to provide you with a God’s eye view of our solar and lunar cycles is priceless. The presentation and visualization is spot on and easy to grok. And of all the features and capabilities provided by this developer the event notifications absolutely kill! Thank you for all the spectacular sunsets!

My favorite complication; exceptional developer. The best visualization of sun and moon data you’ll find on iOS (and watchOS), or anywhere else. The unique dial is such a clever, concise infographic, simple to read and dense with information. It’s glanceable, memorable, and legible even at the scale of a watch complication. The update to v7.0 is fantastic: it introduces a brand new watchOS app with extremely deep customization, as well as the longest list of complications and iOS 14 widgets I’ve seen from any app, period. Best of all, the developer is very committed to the project and extremely responsive to customer support, and just a friendly, pleasant individual to correspond with. Sundial may not be the most “mission-critical” app on your phone, but if you’re the kind of person who looks skyward — and at app reviews — then this is more than worth the price of a coffee. Enjoy! 🌞🌝

My new Muslim prayer app. I read a while ago, that the ancient people used to observe time as “watches” of the day. Then yesterday I was watching a documentary on the Dead Sea Scrolls, ancient Jews did the same and I realized that Muslim prayer times are really done according to the same watches of the day. This app helps me understand that we pray before sunrise, a little after high noon, between that and sunset, Sunset and evening. It’s a lot more useful to pray with the natural cycle of the day.

Love this app!. I use an IPhone 11 Pro. This app is useful all over the world. I use it frequently. From Europe to the USA to Asia to the South Pacific this app keeps me posted on sunrise, noon and sunset. The designers have really improved this app over the years and I am now using it much more frequently. I would recommend it for photography, boating, mountaineering or any other sport that is performed outdoors where the time of day or the angle of the sun is important This app will keep you on track for sun and moon transitions. Keep the updates coming it's working nicely.

Works extremely well. Works extremely well. It also includes the option of having alerts of the different solar and lunar events. You can even offset these alerts by the amount of time of your choice, so you get alerted before the events happen. The other app I tried did not provide any of this information so this app is infinitely better.😁

A "Must Have" for Me. This simple app provides me when the sun and moon have moved through their various cycles. One of the unfortunate circumstances of modern civilization, especially for those who live in urban settings. We are no longer able, nor particularly required, to know the moment our Sun is kissing the horizon or when the Moon will set. This easy alert-friendly provides that information - and more. When ever I acquire a new device this is one of those apps I make sure has been re-installed. As you can tell I love this Sundial. Thank you.

🌕🔭🪐✨. An otherwise great app! I like that it notifies you about different time periods in a way that others do not! My only complaint is that I wish the developer would add a specific time set for Blue (Magic) Hour and Golden Hour. I found a way to edit for Blue Hour in the mornings, but not for Golden Hour, it would just go immediately to Sunrise instead of that time period in between. Please add Blue(Magic) hour and Golden Hour for Mornings and Evenings! Thanks!

Perfect for astrophotography. As an amateur astrophotographer this app is perfect for me. The app shows me at a glance several things I need to know: 1. The time astronomical sundown occurs (I.e. when it is completely dark). 2. If the moon is up, creating too much light to photograph. 3. Or if the moon will rise during the night spoiling my photographic session. And being able to easily move the date ahead lets me know the days and times coming up when best to photograph.

How fantastic!. As a long time sundial enthusiast I am delighted to have happened upon this Apo. I have made sundials of various types both in the Northern Hemisphere and now that I live in the South. I have also written software to calculate solar noon at various locations and times. This App. Does the lot! And more. Thank you.

Bit disappointed.. Bit disappointed really, started using the app earlier this year and loved it! Except now you’ve added a premium feature which is fine for those who want to access all the new bells and whistles, but now I can’t even do the things I was already doing with out signing up... most annoying thing is alert limits. I can only have ONE now unless I switch to premium? Atleast let us have 2 or 3. Bit ridiculous tbh.

needs work. • "Close" and "+" buttons disappear after editing or adding an alert; only way to get back to opening/main display is to kill app and reopen it • descriptions of solar and lunar noon use "it's" when it should be "its" ("it's" is short for "it is" or "it has", whereas "its" is a possessive determiner AKA possessive adjective along with "my", "your", "his", "her", "our", and "their") • not possible to set an alert for when the sun or moon is at a certain (ideally user-specifiable) angle above/below the horizon, e.g. 0°, 45°, 15°, 22.5°, 33.75°, –18° (one application of this would be to indicate when it has ceased to be or become safe to be outside without sun protection) • not possible to turn on/off correction for atmospheric refraction

Sundial. Love this app. Obsession with daylight lengths and moon rises and REAL TIME not clock time. Perfect fit for me. Thanks.

Happy cat. Very happy with this app. Use it to notify me when it is time to feed the cat. The cat conditioned herself to the chime and comes running. More reliable on iPhone than the iPad.

Perfect. This app is beautifully designed with a perfect level of customisability

Beautiful crafted app. A joy to use, best produced app I have ever used

A Pleasure To Use. A beautifully designed app! Really raises your awareness of the solar and lunar cycles in nature and your daily life. There are so many possible alert settings and really original alert sounds. A great app for the photographer who wants to take long exposure shots of a lake on a moonlit night; for the sunlover who wants to sunbathe exactly, say, 45 minutes before the mid-morning sun; for the gardener who wants to shelter precious exotic pot plants from sunlight during the hottest time of the day. Even alerts me to my bedtime, since I want to get up at sunrise. At the risk of sounding corny, the app seems designed with love and real enthusiasm. I use it daily. I just updated it to the latest version for a few dollars.

Sundial app. Fantastic app, unique concise informative and targeted display. My only criticism is the moon phase icon is Northern Hemisphere centric, not the illuminated way (side) we see the waxing and waning phases here in Southern Hemisphere Australia.

Nice visualisation. I enjoy the concise clock presentation of the data. For this amateur astronomer, it gives a good and comprehensive view of sun and moon interactions at a glance in case I’ve been cooped up in the office for too long, or under weeks of cloud cover.

Internet Connection. If an internet connection is not required to calculate info, why does the app pester you to turn location services and notifications on ?? My iPad doesn't leave the property. I think you ARE on-selling the data you are harvesting. Why not have the ability to enter a lat & long ??

Great Solar Lunar App ✨. Have always trusted this app for timely notifications & solar/lunar transits. I find my widgets and lock screen widgets are not updating instantly or even sometimes daily. (Despite location settings being properly set). Notifications are still working fine. Please issue a fix for updating speed on the widgets. I currently have IOS 16.3. Thanks!

Great. I like the app and I’ve been using it for quite a while now.

Added everything back and more!. There isn’t any app available that meets the needs of sun and moon tracking so well. So thankful for the dedication of the developer!

Super useful app for astronomers. I love how intuitive the sundial is to understand. Use it all the time. Highly recommend the premium version for some useful features.

I love this app. I just love knowing certain astronomical times. Like solstices/equinoxes, full moons, and how much light is left in the day. I especially love the offset notification feature, so that I can know when it’s an hour before sunset if I want to make use of what’s left of the daylight. The widgets are also super informative too.

Love it on iPhone, garbage on iPad Mini. I use this app daily on my iPhone. Decided to download it on my iPad Mini that I use as a gps in my semi truck. iPad is in portrait mode. That’s the way I use it but Sundial is in landscape mode only ?!?!? What’s wrong with you guys ??? There is not only one way iPad are held !!! Come on fix this !!!

Circle separation. Was a great app until they discontinued Apple Watch support.

Watch. No more Watch support

The best …. This has to be the best app of its type. Looks great, works great and easy to use.

Awesome. Love it. For me, wanting to figure exactly how the moon orbits the earth, this is the best app for it. Simple, clean display. Easy to see what is happening, what has happened and what will happen. Not to mention the pattern of the rise and set, with the expanding and contracting of daylight hours over the year.

Simple and beautiful. This app is gorgeous! I would love the ability to be notified about new moons as well as full ones, but other than that, no complaints.

Notifications bug. It looks like there’s a bug in notification. Today the sun is supposed to set up at 1920 but I get a notification that it sets at 2014. Is this related to daylight savings time? Or is this another bug. The suns rise and zenith notifications time off as well. Is this bug related to changing time zones?

Finally ... the watch app is back !!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Update April 25th 2021 : The watch App is baaaaack !!! Wooo-hooooo ! 😃😃 Old review (2020): Too bad for version 6.3 no Apple Watch support anymore I bought the apps few years ago mainly that it was supporting Apple Watch. Since 6.3 it doesn’t. I can understand the reasons of the developper . But I’m very disappointed ☹️! Sorry... but I removed it from my iPhone. But it still a very good app. Review is 4 stars (no Apple Watch support) Cheers !!

Watch complications are back!. Thank you for the hard work to bring it back to the watch. It’s now back as a complication in all my faces.

Avis. Cool

The utmost thanks. If it works out from here...

Perfect in all ways. Absolutely stunning visually, the time travel feature delights me every time I think of a question about the future, and the reason I bought it - the alarms - goes above and beyond what I had hoped for.

Perfect app. Has absolutely everything you could want. Watch complications and iPhone widgets are perfect. Everything is customizable and contains all necessary info. Greater is responsive, helpful, and really open to feedback!

Great app, but..... When I found this app, I was looking for something that had the sunset, sunrises, moon phases, all that info. I love watching sunsets, and when I first downloaded this about a year ago, I had the awesome widgets, free, and their recent update made it so you have to buy the widgets. COME ON. That was a huge disappointment.

Nice layout and easy to use. I like this one far more than other apps like this one. I like the layout, ability to customize, and it’s easy to navigate.

One of my favorite apps I didn’t know I needed. I absolutely love this app and I didn’t realize when I had installed it how much i’d get out of it and I can’t live without it now!

Total losers. Don’t even bother with this app. The designers deleted the watch portion of this app from paid users and don’t care about the reviews for doing so. That is stooping pretty low in the programming world and yes I programmed for over 40 years. If they will do this for the watch portion of the app, what is next to go from paid users? Sound a lot like switch & bate from phone solicitors. Yes I am comparing them to this horrible phone callers (scam artists).

Essential. I’m just an ordinary person who likes to have a link to the changes of sun and moon. I don’t know why, but the knowledge they provide gives me an anchor. An outstanding app!

Amazing app. First off, I think this app is a cool thing. I purchased the full version and I think it was well worth it. It is basically a clock but improved to include the sun and moon information. The notifications are beyond useful. I think the only addition you could add would be to add Lunar mid-afternoon and mid-morning. That’s all I have to say.

Cool Free app.. Easy to use. It found my location and immediately displayed a nicely designed graphic clearly indicating Sun/moon rise and set, along with the same info written out. My wish list would start with being able to display past and future times. Thanks

Alerts for everything. If you’re looking for an app that can give you alerts for sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, and everything in between like solar noon (meridian), lunar noon, etc., then this app is good for that. I’ve tried many others and this one is the best in terms of functionality, appearance, sound, robustness, and reliability.

Great daylight planner. It's super helpful to know when the light will fade, especially in the Winter! The Watch complication is the best I've found for showing sun and moon and light and dark information in such a compact format while still being completely legible.

Nice easy to use app. Simple to read circular graphic for solar and lunar rise/set with summary info tables below. Useful alerts, adjustable to needs. One suggestion would be to allow choice of which time ring stays still. For example, I want solar noon always at 12 position, while 12 PM standard time fluctuates around it. Otherwise, exactly what I needed.

This has been my favorite for as long as I can remember. It looks great, and now with a rewritten watch app, this is my favorite complication. Sun rise and set, moon phase, blue hour, golden hour and everything else you want and it looks great

Sound on sunset does not ring. Hi, I would like you know I am not hearing the sound I set when sunset arrive every day This was my main purpose I bought this App. Thanks a lot for your answer.

Only app you need. had an issue with restoring my app purchase, developer responded in a timely matter to fix the issue. I swear by this app, especially during the winter to see my days slowly getting more light as we approach spring lol

Best Lock Screen widgets. This app just gets better and better. The Lock Screen widgets work very good and have the best selection to fit any plan. The amount of information is amazing.

Exactly what I was looking for. I like the default solar complication for the Apple Watch, but you can’t click it and see the exact times! This complication not only looks better imo, but you can click it to bring up the app with exact sunrise/sunset times.

Rate app 5 stars. Helpful sound notifications and display settings on this digital sundial to utilize your iPhone to work for you. Thank you app developer!! Great design and widget updates

Almost perfect. Love the new look and functions! In one small complication you get tons of information including day length, sun position, moon phase and position, and now optional altitude/ azimuth. The developer is super responsive and answers quickly. Must have if you miss the old fish/hunt Casio functionality in the iOS world.

Don’t upgrade if you’re a paid supporter! Lose features. I was using the paid version 6 and just upgraded to 8.13. According to the upgrade notes we get 2 free widgets, I used the one that matched my widget setup under paid version 6 which was “I want it all”, which l chose. Now it says your 3 day trial has expired for the widget!?!? It doesn’t seem fair for a paid user to “upgrade” and lose features. Would’ve kept my older version & unfortunately there’s no way to go back.

Amazing for fishing!. This app is awesome . First time I’ve ever written a review for an app. Going to for sure buy the Apple Watch upgrade but not sure on the widget part, is a tad expensive but I’m sure it helps make the app better…

Less Is More. Love the concept, the execution, and the info. Makes me smile every time I check for sun and moon rise/set data. Everything I need to know is available at a glance. The only other thing I wish it could do is swipe to show me tomorrow. I would pay extra for that.

It’s back and better than everything else out there!. I was REALLY happy when I found out that this app was reworked and it has watch complications again! Thank you!! It’s the best one of all the similar apps available! It’s easy to read, no ugly yellow on orange dials that are unreadable. This is clear, defined, simple to understand and most importantly, usable! I still have one other app I currently use only for “golden hour” alerts, but would love to get rid of it and just stick with this one. It’s by far, the nicest one available! Thank you for the great work on the app!!

sophisticated. Not always easy to navigate settings, but once you learn, the developer's ingenious programming can help maximize your schedule now and far into your future!

Awesome app!. I’ve used lots of sunrise/sunset and astronomy apps over recent years. This one is my favorite by far. Ingenious design! It provides you with everything you need to know concerning solar and lunar activity. Love the alerts feature, you can control how little or how much you want to be notified about solar and lunar events as they occur. Get this app you will love it!

Simple, Powerful, Smart, and free/No Ads. Just so cleverly designed. I had two apps one for sun and one for moon. This one does it all. Perfect I even eat my 3 meals according to the sun. Sunrise, solar noon, and sunset. Changes slightly daily and I’m always out enjoying every bit of sunlight.

Watch Complication Is Back But Missing Key Feature. This is a beautiful visual representation of moon phases and rise/set times. I’m glad to see the Apple Watch complication is back, but it’s missing a the ability to time travel. It’s great to be able to see the rise time for today, but I often need to see it for several days in advance. Please restore this function for a 5 star rating.

Super Watch!!. So glad the watch app is back!! I was sad to see it go away and I know it’s a lot of additional work. But I held on and knew you’d be back. So many functionalities to play around with (both in the phone and watch) and great accuracy in the info provided. And it all looks so cool!

Awesome app🤩. I truly love this app. I was searching for an app to set alarms based on the position of sun in the sky and this app do it properly. Moreover, if you are interested in astronomy like me :D you can notice lots of helpful data here in the app. Thank you so much for this super cool app👍🏻

So disappointed. This app was excellent until the update that removed the Apple Watch complication. Other than the actual time, it was the app I used most on my watch. The only reason it still gets 2 stars is for how great it used to be. Now, I’ll be searching for a new watch app for moon phases and deleting this one from my phone where it never gets used. So very disappointed.

Perfect app for knowing when twilight ends. This app is perfect for showing and setting alerts for sunset or the end (or beginning) of twilight. Especially helpful if you find yourself at high latitudes where sunrise and sunset shift by several minutes each day.

Alerts with Ringer Off?. This is a lovely app and I appreciate the design thought that has gone into it. I primarily use the app to alert to sunrise and sunset for personal practice. I prefer to keep my ringer off, but unlike the iOS alarm clock which sounds when ringer is off, Sundial does not. Would super love if it was possible for alerts to sound even when ringer off. Thanks!!!

Very useful app. I spend a lot of time outdoors and am generally interested in astronomic events. I find myself checking this app often when planning outdoor adventures. One thing I would like to see are little indicators as to whether the sunrises/sunsets/noon are getting earlier or later everyday. Thanks!

Need help. Love the app but need help. I pressed the little down button arrow under the image, twice and it erased digital information lines. And I don’t know how to get them back. Frustrating. It looks like a drop down menu arrow.

Good little app. It’s a good little app. I find it useful for timing when I leave for morning bike rides at Nautical Twiglight. Basically still dark but close enough the sunrise to get a longer ride in before work. I would have given it a 5 star review if features I had weren’t removed in a upgrade just to move more things into the paid version of the app. That just ticked me off TBH... - letting me scroll forward in time to see when sunrise and sunset we’re changing was limited to the paid version - listing the times of nautical twilight in the table was removed. (I liked seeing the actual times so I could set my alarm with Astrological twilight and be on the road by Nautical Twilight.)

Won’t be upgrading. I still really like the app design. But the 5.0 upgrade taking away time machine functionality beyond 7 days and putting it the premium version means I won’t be updating. There are other free apps to get rise and set times for any date, and though this one was by far the nicest it isn’t worth it to me just for that. Besides, if included features get moved behind the paywall once, why not again in the future?

Late walkers, attend!. I love this app and use it frequently since my second walk of the day is usually right before sunset and it is good to know how much light I have left for walking. Also good to know the other end since I am walking early as well. Love the format as too. Excellent!

I LOVE this Sundial app!. Sundial is quite accurate and great for planning camping and other outings when you really want good night light. Plus it tells me how long before dawn so I can get the most out of my day.

The only one you’ll need.. A simple straightforward sundial app that shows sunrise and set, as well as moonrise and set. You can also set solar and moon alarms. I’ve never experienced any issues running this app I used an iPhone 6 plus, and 7.

Wonderful. This app is great! I personal paid the one time 3$ extra for everything it comes with, but i plan on using this app so much. Even without the extra money, this app provides so much information and i absolutely adore it. would recommend for anyone even slightly interested in the phases

Perfect app for this modern 👨‍🌾.... Incorporating this app into a daily life as a 👨‍🌾 has helped me in too many ways to list. Do like I did, & try the freebie version, & I’d truly be surprised if you don’t want the full ver. down the road, especially if you’re planning multiple harvest’s over multiple months.

Helps me pay attention to the world. Honestly like we never look up at the moon or have an idea of how things fit together like how the moon tracks it’s path or when it’s rising and setting. This haze been super helpful in just getting me more attuned to what’s going on outside my sheltered little life lol

Essential App for Me. So grateful for the recent updates! The widgets work like magic now! All the information I need for the sun and moon right on my easy to access widget page! Yay and Thank You 🙏

Extorting fees after premium purchase. I dont like the fact the developer again wants to charge $6 after I had bought the premium few years back that is supposed to give access to all, now to use lock screen widgets, I have pay again!!! Not good business practice I would like to see more widgets and alerts for solar and lunar eclipses added as a value add if you are to ask for more money from premium buyers again! I will up the stars if this is added or promised in the very near future!

Great app and widget. Just one suggestion.... Great app with a simple and attractive interface, and I love the widget. My only suggestion would be to add "New Moon" to the list of alert options. This would be a fantastic feature for astronomers or anyone else looking forward to the darkest skies.

Completely enjoy this app. I love this app. I use it to track the new moon as that is the beginning of the biblical month I also use it to keep track of sunrise and sunset.

Does What I Wanted. I wanted to setup a reminder to do something when the sunset. I know this changes everyday so wasn’t sure how to schedule this. This app was the answer. It does exactly what I wanted. Works great!
