The app needs work. Issues with Apple TV. For some reason video play back would cut to an image of a humming bird or just a blank screen but audio would continue. Would go idle and stop all playback as well.
It’s getting there....hopefully.
I love to see more, I just d/l this and it’s batsh*t stupid! Started one program, stopped that, started another and the app is playing both at the same time and I can’t get either to stop. Restating the Apple TV doesn’t even do it. I am not happy.
Paid subscription, error upon error, only got previews no full videos. Really was looking forward to seeing the great content... Cancelled subscription, deleted the app... Too bad I never heard back from customer support!
Good app but need to have control over auto play. Currently no control. Not so much a problem with multiple episodes but at end of series a brand new series auto plays. Not even on my watch list. Content varies in quality. But I've enjoyed most I've watched.
Depending on your interest you may find here documentaries that other stream services provide or those that are not available anywhere else. One way or another you should try it. I decided to stick with it for a while.
Awesome app like Netflix but better documentaries, had some probs with the search bar though Overall GREAT APP🐸🐵🙉🦆🦋🦄🕸🕷🐜🐃🐂🐐🐖🐀🐇🐈🐓☘️🌴🎋🍄🍁🍄🌎🌍🌏🌕🌗🌗🌑🌑🌒🌓🌚🌝🍳🌶🥒🥕🥓🍳🍅🍇
I always find something interesting to watch, whatever my mood. This is what Discovery, History, Nat Geo and Science channels used to be. So happy we found this app.
Me and my sister just downloaded this app with the idea of subscribing. After reading his review we decided against it as we too have Netflix and Xfinity and watched all the educational channels and lots of the shows available. Thank you SongDuck for the honest review. We decided not to go ahead and subscribe. Curiosity Stream, follow this guy. Follow his advice and we would reconsider considerably.
I'm a huge fan of curiosity stream, so I'm happy to have an app that can Cast! I like this UI better than the web app. Two minor bugs consistently bother me -- the iOS keyboard blocks the bottom search result, and when you cast something it keeps playing in the app (you have to pause it in the app, which is controlled separately from the stream being casted). Nice work though, it's a great app!
Content is awesome, but man, that chromecast feature is a mess. Whenever I start a stream on the app and then switch to chromecast it would keep streaming on both my tv and my iphone, with the tv lagging behind the phone, of course . Also, sometimes it just fails to connect to the google puck (v2) altogether. Calling it the Netflix of documentaries is a bit of an exaggeration, at least from a technical perspective. Netflix has local servers here in Australia and never stutters, whereas CS goes buffering as soon as the masses start watching in the US. I'm on broadband.
Overall a great app. Would be better if they added a google casting option as well as air play!
This App keeps getting better and better. Love this service, keep up the great work!
I can't seem to cast this app to google chrome cast or Samsung smart TV. What's going on? I feel bad leaving this review but it's basic stuff that needs to work.
The content looks good but the volume and play, stop won't hide and it won't go into landscape view. I would also love Chromecast from the app.
... I wish there was the ability to hide the progress bar, volume control etc.
The app consistently struggles with notifications from other apps or returning to play after pausing. Many glitches in getting videos to even launch. I'm sure it will get much better but not yet. After my free month is up, I think I'll leave it for a year or so and try again later.
Love the service amazing documentaries have iPhone 6s but when it goes to sleep when have AirPlay on Apple TV it closes. Please fix the setting in the application.
Content and app are ok, but no Chromecast support on my ipad2 means it is pretty useless to me.
The app worked fine on an iPad 2. Intuitive layout. Lots of interesting documentaries. Low price.
After signing up or logging in, the app immediately crashes.
I have subscribed to Curiosity Stream for approximately one year. I find the content very worth the investment, enough so that I changed from monthly to annual subscription, saving a few dollars. The software functions well for the most part on iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. I withhold the last star because the app does not function the same on all three devices. Ironically, the most information to be found is on the smallest screen, the iPhone. The iPhone exhibits one characteristic that neither iPad nor Apple TV show, at least that I can find. That is showing which of the programs you have already watched. Curiosity Stream has so much great content and I tend to skip around because these are not linear stories so that I can forget which programs I may have watched. The iPhone marks shows as watched. The iPad and AppleTV do not, again, at least that I can find. !!!--> Make the software more consistent between devices, update all devices with bookmarks, and show me which programs I've already watched, across all devices, and I would gladly give the fifth star. On whole, Curiosity Stream is excellent. I recommend it to anyone who loves great documentaries as do I.
The quality of the app is mediocre, actually doesn't work. But when it did work, the app didn't feel personal, compared to other streaming services. Limited content also dulled the user experience. Needless to say i don't think this would be the end of CuriosityStream if they were to recompense customers with two free months. This would prevent most users from discontinuing their subscription.
App immediately crashes and won't stream a single video. You're charging me monthly for a service which I cannot use.
Can't play any videos on the iPhone 6plus. Every time you select a show to watch the app crashes. Just coming to the end of a 30 day trial and was going to purchase a plan, but now I don't think I'm going too.
I have deleted and re downloaded this app 5 different times to no avail. It will not let me play any titles anymore. I loved this app when I first purchased it. And I still pay money for it hoping this glitch will be fixed. Please take care of it soon!!
Before even playing video. On iPhone 7 Plus. I tried deleting the app and reinstalling, but still crashes.
With the new update the app crashes when I select certain videos. Used to love this app- now can't access most of the videos- needs a fix!
App closes when I click on on shows
Re-downloaded the app after a couple months away. Loved the content back then, but now that I've returned and signed up for a paid subscription and the app crashes every time I click on a video. iPhone7. Fix this please.
