HBO Now is a paid streaming subscription and the fact that you can't get through a single episode of anything without the video freezing and have to close the app, restart then sometimes just starts the episode from the beginning is incredulous. Why does YouTube, Netflix or even the lowly Crackle have no issues like this? Not going to stick around much longer paying for this annoyance
Signed up for the free trial. Was fine for about a week and then iTunes charged me for it, so yeah, one star. The free trial isn't free.
I expected a lot more from HBO. App is glitchy, often quitting when moving around the UI. Buffering often, when all my other apps like Hulu, Netflix work smoothly, and I have a very fast connection. Finally, why are shows delayed? Real time, John Oliver etc are delayed hours. Why? Just today, Saturday 8/19 Real Time episode from last night still isn't available, and what shows in the app is an incomplete version starting halfway through. Very poor, and damaging to HBO's reputation.
It is a fail on nearly every level. It has trouble loading content to display. Even when I use search to avoid it having to download a ton of images, it can't be bothered to display the specific show correctly. Netflix has no issues on my connection, why does HBO Now? I will be cancelling before the free-trail is ended since it looks like this is a long-standing failure. I expected better from you HBO.
Why the hbo go have higher resolution while HBO now does not? Can I just consider that as the company does not respect the users of HBO go?
This app is unreliable and inconsistent. Troubleshooting within the app or online is not helpful and does not solve any problems. I am able to stream easily using Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon on the same devices (iOS, Apple TV, and online) and wifi/data. As the most expensive streaming service, I would expect the quality to be better than it is. Very disappointing.
Cable tv is broken and your pricing is broken. I'm glad you guys were hacked.
Make sure you binge the show you want in one month and dont pay a penny more (looking at you GoT fans) because this app is awful. I have it on the iPhone and the Xbox and it is a pain in the rear to start any show. A Service Error shows up sporadically throughout a movie or episode and sometimes doesn't load at all. To have to uninstall the app or turn off your device MORE OFTEN THAN NOT to make it work is absolutely ridiculous. Why does Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, ect always work for half the price and HBO can't even stream their service right?
Downloaded app to watch GOT and it runs nearly flawless. Very rarely would it lag for about 2 - 3 seconds, but I don't mind, because I'm paying a fraction of the cost for cable.
This app needs a complete overhaul all. It is by far the most frustrating app I've ever used to for streaming & it's also the most expensive! When I use my Amazon fire stick TV remote on my iPhone I cannot navigate out of the app or it will shut off on my TV. I stream lots of video apps this way and I have never encountered this problem. It's extremely frustrating. Another issue I have is that it will just exit out of a show that I am watching for no rhyme or reason. FIX YOUR APP

I posted a while ago that the casting extension was a joke. Well, that's been fixed. Now, I can say that HBO NOW has the best casting extension of any app I use. Well done.
Why is that no matter how many times i reset the app or my phone; the video freezes and the audio still plays ?????!!!! 🤔😩🙄😤😡😡😡
The playback on this app is horrendous! It periodically freezes, resulting in the need to restart the app over and over, which means restarting the content you are trying to consume. It does this on my brand new high-end Samsung Smart TV, my IPad 4th gen, my iPhone 7, and my Samsung tablet. Please pull back a few hundred thousand dollars from the budget of one or more of you numerous Series (they won't even know it's gone) and apply the money toward fixing your horrendous app. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to come to this conclusion as a "win-win" scenario for HBO, and its customers, especially considering the increased popularity and future of streaming media.
This application has extremely poor loading speed. Plan on watching your favorite show? Good luck! You may be able to watch only a few episodes a day; if you're lucky. I highly do not recommend this application for the many of troublesome issues it has and headaches it will give you.
I used to be able to watch my HBO shows through the Xfinity app, but this season of GoT and Ballers isn't in there anymore. So I switched over to the HBO app and it requests I sign in using my HBO account. Too easy, right? Wrong... it just sends me into a loop of asking me for my account info despite the fact that it pulls up my account (evens shows me my monthly cable bill). Not sure why this has to be this complicated to sign into the app using my Xfinity credentials and then allow me to watch my shows. Frustrating...
Has you pay 15$ a month for a small selections of mostly awful shows
I dont want it to default to landscape mode with no way to change it. Also, shows and movies are arranged in nonsensical ways, making it difficult to find something to watch. And why can't I add entire seasons to watchlist instead of requiring me to add individual episodes? This is just moronic! Take a look at Amazon's video app. That's how it's done. Incredible that HBO can't hire a good app developer to match its great content.
Signed up for a free month and months later, I haven't been able to cancel after spending months trying. I've spoken to customer service for hbonow and iTunes. Both blame each other and claim they don't have access to the account.
HBO Now is a complete waste of time! I canceled my subscription after 48 hours. I couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of any show without it being interrupted by buffering. I downloaded the app on my iPhone, iPad, and even on the PlayStation and Xbox to see if it would play better on other devices, but it was the same result across the board. And as if the constant loading in buffering wasn't annoying enough, I couldn't get through a single series episode without getting kicked off of HBO's server. This is an issue completely unique to HBO Now as I have zero issues with Netflix, Amazon video, or even the Showtime app. With multiple shows on HBO that I like watching I should have been an easy sell for them!
Works well on my iPhone 6s Plus, Great content and who doesn't love GoT? I mean seriously why else have HBO?
