Needs Better Radar. Just starting to get acquainted with the app, but it’s going well so far. It’s highly configurable, which I enjoy and makes a lot of sense because everyone is looking to get something a little different out of a weather app. Trying to please everyone is never a recipe for a great product, but Carrot includes a lot of options and features with a UI that focuses on what’s important. So kudos for that. One of the main things that drew me to this app was the developer’s promise not to sell user data. I live in Oklahoma, so I mainly rely on weather apps from local news stations, since weather is regularly a matter of life and death here and local sources are the most reliable and knowledgeable here. But I’d be shocked if those stations are not tracking users and selling data. I can’t switch entirely to Carrot yet though because the radar resolution in Carrot is terrible. Half the time I can’t even recognize a hook echo that’s clearly visible on News 9’s radar map. It would also be nice if there were more frames in the radar animation, but that’s not a huge deal. So, to the developer, I don’t know if you can get a higher resolution radar source, but that’s going to be a requirement from me before I’ll subscribe, because without it I can’t completely give up other apps.

Weather with attitude. I have evaluated countless weather apps looking for exactly the right combination of accuracy, essential features and visual organization. Carrot comes very close to my ideal. The “snark” factor is amusing and unique and, while others will no-doubt continue to use it, I moved beyond it pretty quickly and just use the “boring” mode! Carrot is extremely well thought out, with current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts arranged in a smart and very readable layout. I love being able to switch between Dark Sky and Wunderground weather sources with a tap, and quick access to the radar map is a real plus. The only other weather app that has this combination of features and design smarts is BeWeather (another excellent weather app), and it’s a real horse race between the two. What disappoints me about Carrot and keeps it from being a 5-Star app is the conspicuous lack of baked-in notifications. To get severe weather alerts on your iPhone, you must purchase a separate app for your Mac and then have the two devices talk to each other via iCloud. Way too many steps and $$ for something that is the de facto standard in most other first-rate weather apps. I really hope the Carrotians will re-consider this approach. That would garner 5 stars from me and a renewal of my subscription.

After 6 Years. I’ve had this app for about 6 years now, I remember having to pay to download it and it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I’ve used it almost daily ever since across multiple phones. It was my favorite app up until now. Recently this app has been lacking. When they started charging me to use the features I was able to use from the start, I didn’t think anything of it at first. However, recently it has been bugging me because it seems as if they’ve started restricting even more of their features! I’d also like to point out that most of the time the weather reports have been accurate; I know weather is not always predictable but this app used to be on top of being able to have accurate reports. But again, recently, the ability to point out the weather hasn’t been accurate at all. I really wished I didn’t have to pay more for the features I paid for 6 years ago for such poor performance. I’m finally uninstalling the app :/

Surprised at what you get for $4.99. This app is executed very well. It’s extremely well done; the graphics are great, and the app works perfectly. Unfortunately, I paid $4.99 for the app and then found that most of the features I wanted require a subscription. To be fair, the App Store description does tell you what things require an in-app purchase - so it is partially my fault for not reading through the App Store details before purchase. With that said, I was still disappointed to find that most of the features I wanted required a paid subscription (referred to as a “tier”). For example, the Carrot widgets that are included with the app purchase give you no more capability than Apple’s built in weather widget. If you want a widget with a weekly outlook, it requires a tier 1 subscription. I was also surprised that weather notifications required a tier subscription. To be clear, Carrot is not hiding what is included with the app and what requires a subscription, but you need to read through the App Store description in DETAIL, or you may be surprised. For a $4.99 app, I expected much more.

Pretty nice, but.... After looking for a powerful, accurate, and stylish weather app for years, I thought my search had finally come to an end when I found Carrot. While it is certainly all of those things, with an added layer of snarky charm to boot, it’s also another thing: expensive. $5 is a rather high price to ask for a weather app, but I figured it would be more than worth it for all the countless hours of use I’d receive in return, what I didn’t expect is that this weather app asks requires a monthly/yearly fee to access most of its features. I’ve seen apps that cost money to buy, and I’ve seen apps that have subscription fees, but it’s rare to see one that asks for both, let alone a weather app. One of the main reasons I purchased Carrot was to use the widget, but that, along with other important features like notifications, are locked behind the second paywall. There are plenty of other weather apps that require no such payment, and I will be using one of them instead.

From 5 stars to 3, as a premium subscriber.. And as of May 13th 2018 now one star as still keeps randomly freezing on series 3 Watch. No matter how many times I reset, reinstall reboot watch and phone. Feedback I get from customer support is that is strange. Love this app and am also an ultra premium subscriber. Works great on phone but not watch. 1 star rating because of Customer support response and not getting what I paid for. Hopefully the developers will listen now. ————————— Because on iPhone 7 Plus widget... it often crashes with no update--- just blank space. Since the widget is there for the sole reason to be instant- this is ridiculous. Many people have complained yet no fix. The second star docked is due to inaccuracy of weather occasionally. By about 7-8 degrees Fahrenheit quite often. It then corrects itself shortly after but not until I have found the accurate temp by going outside and also checking with Weathermate. No app can beat Carrot's aesthetics in my opinion. Nor the ease of use with the great detail available. Not to mention the snark. But as a premium subscriber I deserve better.

Cards against humanity & a weather app walk into a bar.... If the Carrot weather app’s ocular sensor was single, I’d say I found my perfect match. Where i live, tornado watches , and warnings are very common through out the year. They close the entire city at the threat of snow. Due to the history of deadly tornados here, the weather stations here tend to go way over board if it even mist rain. Carrot not only gives me an accurate, up to date weather forecast with the beautiful DarkSky powering its ocular sensor- including any warnings for my location- it does so in the best possible way. It calls me a meat bag ,it cuts out my mortal enemies hearts and mails it to me in the post. It gives me funny animation and creative insults that have yet to fail at making me stop for a second and laugh daily. Carrot is my dream weather app. It's like the weather played cards against humanity and won.

I NEED more missions!!. I love this app. Weather source options and quick switch weather source is great. The snark is real at full personality. I appreciate that Carrot offers a choice for political preference instead of just assuming that everyone has the same view on life and politics. The achievements are fun. The historical and pop culture mix is great. They keep the mind working. Also fun is the ability to choose what colors the radar map displays. Originally, I purchased Carrot because it was the best option (for me) for my Apple Watch. However, Carrot has become my go to weather app due to all the additional fun features. Whoever thought a weather app could be fun? I didn’t, but now I expect nothing less. Truly, the only reason this review is a 4 instead of a 5 is the lack of additions of new missions and charging to message Carrot after the first 5 messages. Maybe allow premium subscribers to submit suggestions for new missions? All in all, Carrot is informative, entertaining, and fun. Please, please, please add new missions!!

Fun Weather App, but daily Mission staff needs a lesson in Geography.. I’ve always found Carrot to be an entertaining way to track the weather. Their ‘Premium’ membership is a bit excessive in price, compared to their competition. (I’m Grandfathered in at a level between basic & Premium. One feature that I’ve always enjoyed, is their “daily mission” (if you consider daily to mean a half dozen new locations added every few months), but the latest update has a major error in Geographic basics. One Mission asks you to find the highest Mountain on the Continent that Cradled Civilization. Mesopotamia, has been considered the “Cradle of Civilization” for as far back as I can recall. I am not aware of any scientific discoveries, that would change it. (Nor found any via Google search). Mesopotamia was located in modern Day Iraq. Iraq is on the Asian Continent, but whoever input this mission, seems to think that it is in Africa. The correct answer should be Mount Everest. I’ll not divulge what Carrot matches up against as the “correct” answer, but it isn’t that difficult to fact check Geographical questions. “Come on Man!”

Overview of this App. I’m gonna first start off by saying that I really love this app. There’s so many amazing features on here. I signed up to be a beta tester for this app before it even hit the App Store. Everything from being able to customize the app logo, weather cards, etc. This app is by far the best weather app I’ve ever used and I don’t think I’ll ever use another one again. The only issues I’ve got with this app is the Personality part. I love the fact that once you turn the slider all the way to the right, this app starts becoming really vulgar. My problem is that I’ve got it set to “Overkill.” I feel like it’s not as vulgar as it should be. I’m still seeing stupid quotes like “Jesus Tap Dancing Christ, it’s sunny out.” I want it to say things like, “Today is the perfect day to kill yourself. It’s bright and sunny.” Or maybe “Doesn’t this rainy, gloomy day make you wanna hang yourself in the closet?” Things like that would be funny to me because that’s the kind of dark humor i have. I’d actually tip if it said things like that to me. The only other issue I’ve got is the fact that this app now has ChatGPT. But the thing is that it’s $0.99 for every five messages. Snapchat has ChatGPT and it’s completely free. You don’t have to pay for every five messages. These issues are the ONLY reason I’m giving this app “4 stars.”

No Air Quality Map Layer. Updated: disappointed to see that Carrot weather app doesn’t have a map layer for air quality. Carrot has almost everything you need. It has been my go to weather app for years now, which is why I have been an Ultra Subscriber for years now. But as air quality in many parts of the US have become pretty bad for various reasons, I was surprised to see that the app doesn’t have a map layer to view air quality. Not sure if Apple allows you to use their map API but they have integrated this into their weather app since their acquisition of Dark Sky. Would be great if Carrot Weather could adopt this feature or get create their own. When you take a screen shot in maps mode and save to your phone, there is an ugly white banner at the bottom of the screen where it looks like more map real estate should be in place of that banner. Or move the carrot weather logo down a bit to cover that white banner. Otherwise, great work on the app!

Oh my god so full of bugs. I really want to like carrot because they copied the dark sky layout …. But it is so full of bugs that there’s no way I can pay for such badly written software … Bug one: created a new layout named it test set it to default.. you the. Can’t delete it …. It you hit delete and poof! There it still is … took me 20 minutes to find a solution of setting a new default before deleting it. Bug #2 set inline layout… change weather in any section to precipitation.. open next day … precipitation is highlighted but it shows temperature data. Bug #3 change inline day data to precipitation.. other open windows now also switch to precipitation even though I didn’t select that. I get a free year of service for doing your QA right? You can’t charge FIVE TIMES PER YEAR what darksky charged and the have a program riddled with bugs .. i don’t want 300 features that half work I want about 20 features that work well. I’m cancelling my service until these are fixed …

THE APPLE WATCH APP IS NOW PERFECT!. I have been using Carrot for years. The app was always great (I gave it 4 stars in a prior review), but the Apple Watch standalone app developed some issues re location. For example, if you changed location the Watch app might show you the right temperature but not the correct city name. The Watch app also wouldn’t change city automatically you were using location services. For those of us that don’t like being tethered to the phone as much, it made the experience a little less than optimal. Imagine my surprise a few weeks ago when I was driving (with location services on) and the location AND temperature updated automatically on my Watch! I opened the Watch app and saw that the entire Watch interface had been REDESIGNED! It’s beautiful and works perfectly. The issues had been fixed. I’m very grateful to the developer for not simply remedying but doing so in a first class way.

No longer accurate. Used to love and swear by this app enough to have the premium subscription for several years, but in the past few months it hasn't been accurate once (and that's having checked every weather source in the app). Not one source is ever right (or even relevant at all) for our area now... Friends – all of whom are scattered across the US – I had previously recommended carrot to have also complained about how it is totally wrong now, too, so I know it's not just a me thing. Also, my partner regularly has an entirely different (still inaccurate) weather reading on his Carrot app than I do, with the same source selected, and we're in the same house! What?? Make it make sense. Carrot became so off and unreliable, I wound up downloading WeatherBug, which is as accurate as Carrot used to be. What happened? I'm ending my subscription and possibly just going to delete the whole thing; there's no point keeping a consistently *very* wrong weather app. I no longer recommend this app; instead, I tell everyone I know with it now to delete it ASAP and find something else.

THE Best Weather App. Out of all the weather apps that I have tried over the years, this one has proven itself to be the best one. This latest version (5.0) allows for the customization and display of a LOT of weather data, which I really like more than anything, and its functionality is absolutely stellar. The syncing that it performs across all devices is very, very good overall! The AI does put out some snarks that literally FORCE me to poke the daylights out of its eye (i.e. “You’re not supposed to say that!!!!!”), to which it continues to call me and everyone else MEATBAGS (nooooo we are not!!!; LOL). All in all, the great functionality, usefulness of data, and its humor causes me to continue using it consistently over the past several years! Also, given its features, this is one of the few apps out here where I can say that the subscription pricing is well worth it. Keep up the great work, makers of CARROTweather!! And, if you keep on saying stuff that you aren’t supposed to say, or call me something that I don’t like, I’ll continue to poke the daylights out of your eye (LOL)....

Had to update my review after the app update. Update: after the update I did try the restore twice and nothing changed. Hence my previous review. After the developer’s response I tried the restore button once more and got the radar map back which satisfies my previous annoyance at the update. Previously it would just show the map without allowing me to zoom in on my location. That seems to be working now so I’m updating my review. Used to love this app. Bought the original $4.99 app so I could have it in my Apple Watch. The original one also had the radar map. (Which living in Florida is a must have with small storms popping up all the time.) After the update, you now have to have a premium subscription for watch complications AND to use the radar map. You updated it only to take away features and make me pay more for something I already had. Will be deleting it and going back to the weather channel app. Although I love the snarky sayings carrot had, it’s not worth paying a monthly subscription (after you already paid what most would consider a fairly high price for a weather app) for basic features other weather apps already have.

Better than Dark Sky. I have been using carrot for over a year, and it’s by far the best weather app I’ve ever used. I’ve used a lot of different weather apps, including dark sky (which was my previous favorite), and can say that this app is superior. I do pay for the premium version but it’s totally worth it. You can customize every aspect of the UI, from the type of information displayed, fount type, app logo and very other aspect of what’s displayed. The dark humor that the app displays catches you off guard and leaves you laughing out loud, and is also surprisingly up to date on the stuff it makes jokes about. While the maps are a little more tedious that that on dark sky, the ability to choose a source for weather information, and the sheer customizability of the app and widgets itself make this app well worth the download and if your like me, the paid version as well.

Just Weird. I had initially rated this as a two-star app (my previous review is below), but bumped this up to five stars. The developer has added a professional "personality," and the app has a lot more functionality and polish since my last review. Thanks for listening to requests and making the app better! Original review: This app ranks highly as one of the best for weather. The reviews are also superb. After paying $5 to download, you’re then immediately smacked with a multi-tiered, recurring fee in order to do fairly rudimentary things. The tiers are more complicated than they should be. IMO, this app should be free to download, then a single $1.50-$3.00/mo recurring fee to get pro features. As it stands now, it’s just dangling a carrot (pun intended) to get you to the next pay tier. Which is just gross. The commentary, which is manageable, is weird as are the “missions.” Developer needs to just cut the garbage and focus on weather. Or be a snarky game. Not both.

THANK THE CARROTS!!. Okay let me be clear, the personalities are literally so amazing. I use the overkill one because omg its literally so funny when carrot roasts me. Best thing? You don’t even need money to continue. It gives you the basic weather updates and the schedules like any other weather app does, but with the best humor. I love the achievements so much and even when carrot makes fun of my face istg the app is so much better then any other app. I use carrot for fun, and it definitely needs to be more recognized. But I just use the normal weather app because it has everything that you need there, but carrot is super helpful to me too. My conclusion? Carrot is an amazing app, and a very funny one too. But if you just need access to quick information use a different weather app. Maybe I’ve gotten too use to weather, it’s hard to adjust to carrot. But omg I LOVE this app!! Basically my ideal weather “robot”. THANK YOU CARROT!!! 🥕 ❤️

Added a few stars. February 2021 update fixes this app.. It took too long, but the developer finally made this app reasonably customizable so that it can show everything I want to see on a single screen: current conditions, 24 hour multi our forecast, multi day forecast. …and nothing I don’t want to see! Bravo. Previous, grumpier review is below. ———- There’s nothing quite like spending five dollars on a weather app only to find that you have to pay monthly or annually for expected features. Forever. There are THREE premium paid tiers, all of this mind you on top of the five dollars you just paid for the weather app. Go gamification of weather! Go in-app purchases! (Go sarcasm) I am misled and unimpressed. Wish I could customize this thing more. But most of the free customization centers around controlling the amount of snark. UI customization would be better.

Carrot is good but bad at the same time. Let’s just start with a CARROT you have to pay money every year friend and it’s not even that special to pay that money also, I think that care should have been not that expensive like I said, and that there is more better options that are free weather apps, then carrot. And when I got into talking with the voice chat option where you can talk with the artificial intelligence robot. When you chat with her, your messages run out and after you talk with her too much you have to pay one dollar for you to talk to her so that’s more money that you have to pay just to talk with someone. Also, I thought that this game was like really easy and nice and smooth like you get to the scary in exaggerating, and I really don’t think he receives five stars of reading this game. So it’s like the movie Megan. It’s this really nice robot/artificial intelligence, but then it becomes repeat, as you get to know it, same with carrot the artificial intelligence that you can talk to you I really don’t know what to say about this game I think like I said it is good for bed at the same time.

Hail Carrot!. Let’s face it. You’re not here because you want a weather app that’ll tell you the weather and nothing else. No. What you really want is a sadistic computer named after a root vegetable who’ll threaten to strike you dead with lightning like Zeus and explain things about the world you didn’t particularly want to know (“Today is a good day to try to win over your crush by FedExing them one of your body parts,” she may tell you when it’s sunny) all while gathering achievements when you experience a flood or fire warning, hearing the occasional unsolicited political comment (you can turn it off if you want), and playing fun geography puzzles that may or may not be a disguise for the calibrating of a missile targeting system. But if you take yourself a little too seriously, you can always turn off her personality, (which is just cruel when you think about it) or if your feeling especially masochistic, switch it to Overkill Mode, in which she will cuss and threaten and tease and generally take everything you hold sacred and grind it to dust under her cold, metal boot. As you can tell, this app is a great deal of fun and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a hearty laugh in their daily routine. And maybe a little bit of threatening.

The best weather app around!. I love this app so much! It’s clean, efficient, and gives you data that most weather apps hide. For a small fee of $15 a year I get constantly live data pushed to my apple watch. This is incredibly important to me because of how much I travel and because my business is effected by the weather greatly. The snarky overkill remarks brighten my day and give a good laugh. The developer goes above and beyond to bring you one of the greatest weather apps in the entire universe. So much so, I tipped the developer and will do again if the app continues to improve. Think of it as one of your onlyfans subscriptions but instead of hot nudes you get hot weather info pushed to your phone instantly! Now thinking of that just get me started. It’s really an explosion of information and customization in a complete package. Grab your tissues and socks cause you’ll need them.

Great App Held Back by the New Maps. The app is great. I’ve been using it for so long that I really don’t care about the personality setting or the snark. It’s the reliable weather data from Apple’s DarkSky API that keeps my from switching. The app is getting too expensive, with inflation and the current economic landscape I’m reluctant to keep paying $50 a year for a family plan….just for weather. Don’t really think it’s worth nearly that much. Especially if I can get good enough data for free from Apple’s stock app. The new maps are a huge step backwards. The color and fonts don’t match the overall app. It’s really buggy and hard to navigate. The radar and forecast tabs don’t have any differentiation by default and if they do it’s not noticeable. Even when selecting the same settings it shows different data but again it’s not clear as to what it’s trying to show. The radar tab needs to be precipitation, cloud cover and storm cells only and the forecast tab needs to be temperature and pressure fronts only. The old maps system was much more user friendly and more visually attractive but I can see the new system has promise once the issues are worked out.

Awesome app. I'm kind of a weather nerd and have four or five basic weather apps (and 2 dozen more specialized ones) on my phone! Carrots' built-in AI tends to give me a smile or a laugh when it tells me something about the weather, usually with a dark or NSFW language choice! The functionality of the app is comparable to all the other apps I use, and I don't have anything bad I could say about it. I enjoy the daily game of “Find the place where this is”. Every night, they release a “quiz” of sorts. They task you with finding (on the map) the location of an item/place which they give you a basic hint on. Some are easy; some are QUITE a challenge. Finally, they have achievements for doing certain tasks, like being in an area with a fog warning or in one under an active fire watch. They are a lot of them and some need to be done multiple times to achieve them. Summary: Great weather app with some pleasant add-ons to entertain as it educates. Well worth getting!

Super Good Weather App. As someone who rarely buys premium, I did dig out my debit card for this app and bought a year of Ultra. I love the humor in the forecasts and the widget functionality so I can see everything from my Home Screen on the first page. The one downside I did see was that while they have push notifications for Warnings such as tornado warnings, flood warnings, etc etc, they don’t have Watch alerts. As someone who lives in Oklahoma, we rely heavily on Tornado Watches to know when to get weather aware for the day because a tornado warning is far too late to be notified of an impending house ruiner tunnel descending from the sky. Tornado Warning means someone’s already seen the tornado around these parts. A Tornado Watch means we need to be looking for descention in the clouds. If that functionality could be added to the app, it would for sure he 5 stars from me.

My daily hilarious insult. I have always had some type of weather app to keep me informed. I don’t remember how I was introduced to Carrot, but it has been an amusing way to deal with the boring task of planning my day around the weather. You can adjust the insult level, it has multiple sources for weather so you’d an choose your favorite one, and it even has fake commercials that are hilarious. The only thing I hate about it is that it has a subscription model. I am one of the few people that really hate subscription models. Since I have ADHD, I am more likely to forget about subscriptions and trial periods. I love having a free trial that lasts longer than 2 weeks so I can really get a feel for an app, I like an app that has a subscription model if you only need the tools for a short time window, and I LOVE lifetime (of the app) memberships where I can pay way more, but commit to apps and programs I love. During the Trump presidency, I found Carrot to be a lot funnier than it is now, but that’s more a sign of the times. Overall, a great app. If they ever create a life time membership, I will be in and the rating will change to 5+ stars.

Useful and funny. Imagine one day you find yourself walking in Central Park. You come upon an ice cream vendor selling what they advertise as the worlds best ice cream. Clearly you know this to be false as the worlds best ice cream is from your hometown in Akron, OH and not from a mustachioed wizard in skinny jeans and a Sonic Youth tattoo on the back of his hand. Eager to prove his dubious sign wrong, you order a small vanilla cone which is not only the specialty of this cart whose name is apparently “ice creams” (quotes included), but also the only choice on the poorly made menu. The man, seeing the obvious doubt and disdain in your eyes, hands you a long cylindrical shape wrapped in a swath of dirty burlap, and mumbles “no charge”. You carefully unwrap the burlap to find, not a vanilla cone, which you somehow still assumed it would be; but instead you are oddly delighted to find an uncooked hotdog. You glance questioningly at skinny jeans, gesturing towards the hotdog, and without a moment of hesitation, he grabs the wiener from your outstretched hand, flips it over and now somehow, it is not only an ice cream cone, but the absolute best ice cream cone you have ever had in your entire life. That is what using this app is like.

A weather app like no other. Forget and set aside your previous expectations of what a quality weather app may be. Carrot Weather app is unique in itself, and for good reason! Yes, this application provides accurate forecasting as well as live weather updates upon request. But this app is so, so much more. This application and it’s humorous User-Interface reset the paradigm of weather-notification apps - bringing with it a level of immersion never seen before. Carrot weather app is accurate, but moreso ever notification pushed to you will at least have you smirking in its comedy. I am constantly checking this weather app, not because I wish to know what the current state of weather is like (honestly I’ve never done this before), but just to see what tongue-in-cheek joke awaits me today. If you want a weather app, this app is for you. And if you just want an app to make you smile from time to time (while also giving you accurate weather data live) then this app is also for you.

A weather app… and so much more…. I downloaded the app and decided to do the free trial to see if I wanted to pay for the subscription. I knew immediately that the answer was “yes! Yes! Take my money, now!” If you want a plain old typical weather app, that’s fine; don’t bother paying money for a subscription for Carrot. BUT, if you want a weather app that will sass you and make snarky comments, one you can build a relationship with, one where you can have daily entertainment in trying to find secret locations, and an app that is highly customizable, this is what you need. Carrot adds so much fun to the otherwise blah activity of checking the weather. You can customize her commentary so you can either get harmless, mildly snarky comments or cussing and more over-the-top insults. You can also build a relationship with her (and let me assure you, once you fill those last hearts, it just gets better) and find secret locations daily on the map. Special bonus fun with the achievements you can earn. Some of them are quite entertaining. So, long story short, if you want to add some fun to your day and have a relationship with your weather app, you’re in the right place. If you don’t want any of that interesting stuff, feel free to move along to the next weather app.

v5.0.2 lets you restore paid widget functionality – not sure about updated UI. I did originally try the “Restore” feature at v5.0 launch, but it didn’t fully recognize me as a paid user of the previous paid version. I wouldn’t have thought to try it again until I read a developer response to another review – going thru the “Restore” ceremony again under v5.0.2 finally worked, allowing me to use widgets and other paid features again. I’m still on the fence about the UI changes – first impression is that it’s less useful than before, and the app takes noticeably longer to show me weather info. (I think it’s a mistake to reduce the default forecast to the next 24 hours – most people aren’t going to play with the customization options to get the 72 hour forecast option back, so that first impression of “less useful” will stick with them.) So far I do like the updated widget look. I miss the fanciful scrolling scenery above the forecast data.

Love app but too expensive to buy any frills!. Have only had the Carrot app and been using it for 3 days. So far I like it, it’s easy to navigate and the greetings are freaking hilarious, however the basic app purchase only gives you “the bare basics”. To even receive any weather WARNINGS for your area - sorry folks yada-yada-yada, it’s going to cost your pocketbooks upwards of up to $100* plus tax, and a yearly membership. *based on the $9.99 per month Tier 3 account. Sure, there’s a mid-range Tier 2 model with a few bells and a few whistles, but I just refuse to believe the App Developer’s responses you other people’s reviews that “it’s expensive for server upkeep”. I’ve purchased several apps, over the last 10 years and once I purchased those apps, then all the app access is available for use, not cherry-picking the fun bits and charging monthly/yearly subscription fees for. I’ll gladly keep using Carrot, but I’ll keep my Weather Channel app for my warning alerts.

Very Cool App!. I have only been using Carrot for several weeks and find that it is 1) A great weather app & 2) An even better educational and entertainment app!! Do not misunderstand, the weather prognostication and function is the best I’ve ever seen having seen at least several (and transitioning from Dark Sky to Carrot). I’m simply saying that, for me, it seems like every time I use the Carrot app (5 to 10 times per day) I have this urge to go “look something up”. What the heck is “wet-bulb anyway - lol. It seems like a day has not gone by when the app entices me to learn something new about geography, astronomy (mainly the moon and general earth & solar impacts on our lives, and yes of course - the weather). Notice I have not even mentioned anything yet about the adventures, arguments, notifications, and just all out enjoyment I get out of the app. I paid for the family premium and will do so again. 5 star app no question! Matt

Makes daily task of checking the weather FUN!. I just started using about a week ago ( tardy to the party, I know)— and it never fails to make me chuckle. CarrotWeather turns the mundane task of checking the forecast into a delightful little entertainment break. I even noticed that it has positively reframed my position on “bad” weather bc bad weather = higher scores / achievements unlocked etc— as it “game-ifies” extreme temps, heat index, days without rain, &c. I find myself weirdly hoping that the veritable inferno I’m melting in will get… worse? Even hotter? As that would increase my scores. Gosh, they should game-ify all the mundane things…. Like, “CarrotTurboTax”? Just saying… ALSO- Snarky humor appreciated One last thing: format handsomely/sleekly manages to display more relevant data/info than standard weather apps— yet doesn’t seem cluttered, visually easy to digest. Kudos to the strange and wonderful developers of this app, whomever you are!

5.oh no... but, actually... <3. At first I was skeptical of the 5.0 changes, but with the interface options and unlocked interface-maker changes I’m warming up to it with each passing day. I like that you can customize the type of forecast temp charts (vertical, horizontal, or boring list), very helpful for those who like visual representations of conditions at a glance rather than dry high/low°. I also like that you can adjust the chart heights from the default way to large all the way to ‘small.” Basically every element has more information via 3D/Haptic Touch, most data grids can be customized with more or less info. For longtime fans of Carrot Weather you may find new things to love with a little tinkering. Widget options are a bit limited for the non-premium or legacy-premium crowd, but you’re free to have as many weather apps on your iOS device as storage will allow, so go wild and install a few. Or, you know, feed the carrot a few measly dollars a month meatbag!

Not worth your time or money. $30 every YEAR?! It’s a fun app and I like the widgets but I already paid $5 for the app and now you want me to pay ANOTHER $30 annually to unlock all the features? No thank you. I bought this app years ago, it was funny but it didn’t offer any better weather data than the other free apps I had and $5 for data that other apps gave free felt like a small rip off. I’d give it 4 stars back then, it was good but the free options were better. When the widgets came out, I was super excited to see CARROT really go all in. I was finally excited to see a feature both unique AND useful from CARROT. But now it feels like they’re milking me for every last cent and their “extra” features should be free to begin with. Stuff like background refresh and weather widgets are free on other apps. I like the design of CARROT but it’s not worth a $5 app AND a $30 subscription. I understand that people worked hard on this app, but make the app itself free and offer a $3 annual subscription fee for background refresh and unlocked widgets. I don’t mind ads or subscription-only features, but I cannot stand paying for an app only to realize I ALSO need to pay for a subscription before I can use the app like other weather apps.

The best weather app you NEED on your phone! (and on your wrist!). Finally! The best weather app I can find that was built for me! (and for a good price too!) I first came across CARROT Weather on the App Store. I thought to myself… It's just another weather app, how would I be too excited about it? But when I got my new Apple Watch, I only care about information on the face, that’s why complications exist. I then look at on watch face from the Apple Watch store page and saw the “Ultimate Weather Station for Nerds” watch face. I downloaded that watch face. But that is when reality hit. I need to pay a subscription for these features. I tried different apps offering watch face complications. But that doesn’t live up to my expectations. So I thought “You know what, $20 a year doesn’t seem like a bad deal” So I bought a year’s subscription for premium. Worth. Every. Penny. Period. Hands down. It had all the features I ever wanted! including a customizable weather screen, a weather map on my Apple Watch, and a snarky sarcastic AI! I liked all the features of the weather app! You, folks, know how to make monitoring environmental conditions fun! Definitely worth buying a subscription again!

Didn’t want to like Carrot-but how could I not?. I like to experience weather matter-of-factly. I find this a crucial component of checking weather when I’m scouting out best times in the year to vacation somewhere. My husband suggested I use Carrot to add some “flair” to my weather searches....I found this confusing mostly because...I don’t like change and was used to the layout on another “reliable” weather app that I won’t use by name......(the app rhymes with “Feather Flannel”), and lastly when my husband is right about something, a circuit shorts somewhere deep inside my body which gives me the overwhelming need to revolt. And besides, what could Carrot do to add “flair” to my weather check-in while in Hawaii for sunny days to stay and lay by the pool, or what day I should schedule my trip to the local outdoor mall? The first time Carrot Told me she hoped I was impaled by flying debris on a windy day at home though, I fell in love.......AND she’s ALWAYS ACCURATE....needless to say, I deleted the “Feather Flannel” app and spend my time with Carrot. Daily. ♥️♥️♥️

Unbelievably customizable. From the iPhone app to the Apple Watch app the number of ways you can adjust this app to show just the data you want—and only the data you want—is amazing. And weather is one of those things that can bring out the geek in people, they want the info they want, and nothing else. I notice a few reviews don’t like the new look, but it looks fine to me, and the look is nowhere near as important as the customization. Some also don’t think the forecasts are that accurate where they live, but besides the fact that some geographic locations will be inherently less precise than others, Carrot gives you six different data sources to choose from (including Dark Sky) and even gives you two-click access to the NOAA page for your Zip if you want to see how it compares to what you’re seeing. No app is perfect, but one tap zoomable radar in motion, with multiple selectable data layers, on my Apple Watch is the kind of amazing sci-fi that makes living in the future pretty cool. Keep up the good work my man!

The new update is fantastic. I never leave reviews, but I felt compelled to after seeing some folks ripping on the new UI. Sure, it takes a bit of getting used to and can feel a little modern and bright for some, but this is a fun take on weather. If you want a basic weather app, you know where to go. The data isn’t immediately easy to navigate like before because it’s so different, but wow, once you figure out where things are at, it’s far and away the best weather app out there. I found the old version to be a little light on the data I was seeking, and the precipitation forecasts wildly unreliable in my area. It seems they’ve adjusted that algorithm, and we’ll see if it’s improved. For now, the main takeaway here is that they are presenting weather-related data here that we ACTUALLY care about, that other apps aren’t. I’m spending twice as much time on this app now because it’s just fun to use (maybe I’m just a nerd). They even have Wikipedia break downs of wind, precipitation, moon phases, etc! It’s fascinating. The day and hourly breakdowns are really nicely executed as well and I love seeing the temperature graphs. Also, they give you much more in the entry level version than they did prior. Don’t change the layout, it’s fantastic.

GREAT APP!. Honestly, it’s a amazing app! There’s tons of missions to do and keeps you occupied! I also love when you first download the app it asks you how mean you want it to be! I chose mine to be the highest mean to me and it’s funny! And, when you get into the app, it shows a little sentence at the top! Which is why you choose the meanness! Me and my father like to take screenshots and share them because they make us laugh! Also, I LOVE doing the finding ones. It gives you a saying like “find a Grand Canyon” and you’ll have to look on the map and find it! All you do is search for the location and tap you screen to ‘scan it’ and if you find the location it gives you a check! The only thing I don’t like is that you have to wait for the next. Which, you have to wait till midnight! Ugh! And, of course, it shows the weather… I only use it for the missions! But, I still check the weather time to time😆Overall, it’s an amazing app 100% recommend!

I just LOVE carrot 🤩⭐️. First, hi. i’m a fellow chaotic human who loves chaos. Every day i always get bored with apps that are always encouraging and nice, until i found out about this app. I never knew a weather app could be so thrilling. I just love causing chaos and carrot seems like the greatest partner-in-crime. I enjoy just waking up to carrots rude comments. My friend recently got the app too, and with the chat-with-carrot area i planned out chaos towards my friend with carrot 🤣. If your a person who is tired of encouragement and all that stuff, carrot will give you the complete opposite. Just put on how threatening you want it’s rudeness to be, sit back, and enjoy carrot harshly ruining your day, and if your brave enough for its harshest mode, then prepare yourself for threats 24/7 🤣 also for other app recommendations with carrot, just get the carrot alarm app or the carrot chores app. carrot will get so mad at you if you oversleep your alarm or if you are being lazy and not doing your choirs or being productive 🤣🤣 these apps deserve a full 5 stars, even if you have to pay for stuff. enjoy your threats, you ugly meatbags 😁😂❤️🤍

What a rip. I think a weather app was almost the first app to make a smart phone useful way back in time when the iphone debuted. Since then, there have been soooo many weather apps that have come and gone and stayed. This one looked interesting so i paid the original small fee for it. Over time, I have not seen what it does thats so spectacular compared to free ones or free ones with a reasonable premium buy in. What I do see is what a ripoff it is where many features that are free on other apps have a monthly charge for this one. Thats incredible, but not for me. The snarky voice and comments are good for only so long, then I want some everyday features that cost a minimum of $2.50 / month with this app. Like a few layers of basic info that i get in wunderground for $0.0. So long carrot, its been a bit of fun and no more than that. Today I decided to delete the app after I saw once again that every feature in the weather map app display was locked unless you paid a monthly tax for the privilege of viewing things that are standard features in most other weather apps in addition to buying the app to begin with.

Updated! NO REAL-TIME TORNADO WARNING. In a previous review, which I have both authored and left unchanged (see below), I may seem a touch irritated, to put a mild touch on it. HOWEVER, I absolutely must not leave this criticism of mine to remain unchecked after the outstanding and inexplicably fast (think only a couple of hours, not days) improvements/revisions made by this praiseworthy team at CARROT that have resulted in VASTLY superior speed of service in regards to the notification of severe weather and safety alerts available from this app. I am still currently, and will remain a loyal fan for the foreseeable future. Please excuse the length of time that has elapsed since the original review and the update, I have no excuse, and thank you for your understanding, help, and unbelievably fast response to my concerns. ORIGINAL REVIEW LEFT BY ONE VERY UPSET AND SCARED YOURS TRULY: I’m , as of this moment, under an ACTIVE TORNADO WARNING, meaning that there is a real, live tornado heading my way. I received public emergency warnings, and Red Cross warnings, but ZERO FROM THIS GARBAGE. Just kinda figured I would let others know, you know, in case I die.

Best basic weather app out there. This is the best basic weather app for those who just want to know the forecast for today and the near future. Minimal improvements One thing I think would be a big help for my experience is a rooting of the scale on the 7-day forecast viewing. It feels difficult to compare things like the temperature or wind from day to day, as the scaling of the Y-axis changes each day to match each individual day’s high and low mark. I wish, instead of that, that the Y-axis would fit for the whole week’s high and low marks, that way I don’t have to check the scale for each day, and can very easily see the difference between a windy and not windy days just by seeing the graph shift visually. Other than that, I can’t think of anything else that would be a good improvement for the app. So, overall, it’s really good.

I gave 5.0 a darn good chance. I’m a long-term, premium subscriber. Carrot made me happy because I felt - other than radars which I have special apps for - that I could get everything I needed at a glance. I would bring it up, tap on the hourly, and then could scroll it left with the hourly information changing up top and the daily staying in sync below. I could quickly tap on a day and see a great overview of what was happening. Now - even with the 4.0 layout option - that’s all gone. None of the things stay in sync, so I have to scroll to the hour I want, tap it, and then look back up to see. Daily information is shown on a completely different screen (and doesn’t show at all on the 4.0 layout). And what information I get - specifically the narratives - isn’t helpful any more. The developers are super responsive and always have been, and I can see from reviews lots of people love it. But after years as a subscriber I’ve cancelled my premium subscription and am back to the drawing board. Carrot app made me sad - and this time it wasn’t just because the snark was too on the nose. Instead it’s because they took away the one thing I loved it for. Maybe one day I’ll lovingly poke your ocular sensor in the eye again, CarrotApp.

Doesn’t Live up to Price. It has not been very accurate when it comes to rain amount or times - one time was predicting less than 10% chance of rain, despite tv weather report to the contrary...downloaded 4 free apps just to compare (weather channel, accuweather, weather bug, weather underground), and Carrot Weather was the anomaly in forecast...and it was incorrect. (Developer response: “Not every weather data source can be accurate in every corner of the world. That’s why I took the trouble to incorporate a bunch of additional weather data sources in the app.” But the issue is that whatever sources in use don’t seem to be connecting to the summary page. Example: today it’s been storming outside. The radar map in the app even shows it, but the chance of precipitation on the summary page at the same time says 0%.) Also don’t like that I paid for this app and I don’t get notifications. Hell, even Candy Crush has notifications. (Revision after developer response - yes, they do have notifications. I stand corrected. But after paying for the app, you’d have to pay more to be a premium member to get the basic function of notifications.) Future radar would be helpful too. Maybe I just don’t understand radar, but I don’t want to see where a storm has been (rather, where it’s anticipated to go and what time the worst part of the storm is expected to pass through).

Awesome App. The design is beautiful, the app on iPhone X in particular really shines. I love the way the graph visualizes temp and precipitation. The snarky robot concept is funny and the ability to fine tune it’s personality and politics is ingenious. The ability to look backwards in time at weather is also something I’ve always wanted from a weather app. There are a lot of other little touches that you should discover yourself. A couple of things that could be better are the tiny font on the widget (which I use daily to quickly check weather at a glance). It’s really, really tiny. Almost unreadable. Precipitation notifications are pretty clunky too and have to be pushed from the mac app ($). There is also a subscription for access to a few extras including watch complication customization, which is a little annoying after paying 5 bucks. Overall, spectacular app for something as simple as weather. Lots of great features, personality, amazing design, and updates.

Best app, continually improving and adding features. Always new things, always do layouts, always fun. This is the only app I have found that is both visually appealing, highly customizable and has oodles of info available. There is now a map available with layers that can show features like radar, storms cells and their projected directions, weather fronts (really hard to find apps that show the weather fronts on them!), A feature called cards that you can customize to show additional information that you want to see, and customizable notifications. For example you can set to be notified if there is a lightning strike within X many miles, where X is customizable. You can set the notification for during the day only or overnight. You can have notifications sent to you yes for example snow accumulation will be greater than 2 inches for the day. Just some of the features that Carrot now offers. Love this app. I have had it for five years and have been amazed how much development there has been – especially since it’s the product of one person, not a company. Get the Premium Club, because it’s cheap and really worth it. And every once in a while throw something in the tiptoe jar so that he can keep on developing new looks, etc.

I love carrot. I love carrot, I really do. She’s fun, keeps me engaged -more than any weather app ever- with her missions, achievements etc & most importantly, she’s accurate. She’s quite accurate & I love that I can connect her to my personal weather stations for even more accuracy - BUT… Lately the “forecast” side of the radar map doesn’t work. I used to switch between radar & forecast when a storm was actively beating down on me so I could see where the storm was predicted to go. I’d use it on the days my son was scheduled to work to see if he’d encounter rain (bc he bikes to work). But sadly it no longer works. There can be an active storm & the forecast side of the radar shows nothing currently or for however long I have it set to show. I’ve even changed the amount of time from a very short one to an extended one. It doesn’t change. So, I’d love to give my girl 5 stars, or even more really, but with a part of her, a part that I heavily relied on, no longer working, I cannot.

Very good. CARROT is an awesome weather app, the only thing that is not good are the fake advertisements. I love the personality options, and the only thing I could think I’ve to make it better is allowing some widgets for a cheaper price or seperate plan. This is because I still have to keep Apple weather installed so that I can use widgets.

What Did They DO??. I have used Carrot Weather for almost a year now on my iPhone and iPad – the best weather app I have ever used. Unfortunately they have recently updated the entire app which removes all its character and sparkle and made it look and feel like just any other weather app. It is extremely disappointing and sad that this change was made. I would hope that they quickly revert back to the original unique and fun design which would always get people talking.

Needs more flexibility. The options to choose from whether it’s hold or cold need to be given a greater choice the cold option is defaulted to highest under 10 but if your used to living in a hot country then under 18 feels cold. Also about right to me is just 26 why do I have to choose from 24-32 when temperatures 24 and 32 are greatly different?

Eh.... Having paid $8 AUD for a weather app that promises to be great, has the reviews to back it up, I expected more out of the box. The Siri shortcuts are lacking detail, favouring ‘sass’ over actual weather information being read out to you, and also taking about triple the time to get the result back compared to Siri’s native report. All the good features are locked behind a subscription after already paying for the base app. I don’t begrudge developers wanting to be paid for their work. I begrudge paying for less functionality than a lot of free apps offer, with all the best stuff being behind a second level of paywall. So to get some decent functionality I went for the first tier subscription, and 3/4 of the useful stuff doesn’t work in Australia. What a waste of time and money this has been

Amazing app!. This app has helped me so much! *cough cough* the snarkiness is the best! Quotes like: ‘it’s frakking windy’ or ‘guess what boys and girls? It’s windy!’ really just make me laugh. Please more secret locations... I’ve finished them all haha. I have the Apple Watch app as well and it’s so handy! It’s most definitely the best weather app that I’ve ever used and it’s definitely worth buying!!! Thanks CARROT!

Absolutely incredible app. The best weather app I've ever used by miles! So anesthetically beautiful, amazing features and great technical design. The developers have achieved something very niche and unique with this app - it's the first weather app that I check in to several times a day for general enjoyment and to have a laugh (it's hilarious!) besides just for the weather. Love it - totally worth it! Thank you :)

Great for more details. If you are looking for more details this is the app for you. I don’t believe I will be renewing my subscription, as it’s not as important to me anymore. I still am not sure which weather source is best, as they all seem to vary so much for my area.

The Best weather app: Carrot. This is such a good weather app! It’s funny, tells the actual weather and you can play games on it! The only problem is that when I’m waiting for the “praise” or “debug” to load, it takes over 5 hours even though it will usually say “three minutes” Overall, I love it :)

Fantastic application. This is without any doubts the best weather app ever, making also from the boring weather reporting a great fun. Designed with attention to details in both visual and operational aspects. Works incredibly well and supports a few weather data sources, so you can select one which reports on your local weather in the best way. The Apple watch complication is great, providing full snapshot on one screen (yes!) and details for the next days if you scroll down. I am not associated with developers of this app in any way, but being myself in software design for over two decades, I am usually very picky. This app earns in my opinion 10 points on the scale from 1 to 5! Well done!

Battery?. I bought the app then paid for a subscription. I love the apps functionality and the ability to customise complications on the Apple Watch, but the app was a battery hog. My phone dropped from 100% to less than 80% after a couple of hours. Usually I still have more than 80% till after lunch. Unfortunately I had to delete the app.

Best weather app. So far, I have not experienced any errors! And with the additional humour, it just makes this app 20x better. For anyone reading this, this is the app to choose in replacement of your current faulty weather app. I can’t give this 6 stars, so I’ll give it 5.

So far, So good…... ….So what! No news is good news right? But good news never made a paper sell! There’s always room for improvement, hence the ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ You should be happy with that! Give me a full year subscription for free and you’ll get the following year subscription out of me 💸 🇦🇺🦘

New weather sources are welcome. The ability to use Wunderground as a source and draw from hundreds of local weather stations is very welcome. The new interface is as user friendly as always and one of the best apps for Apple Watch. The premium subscription is a little high compared to other apps, but worth it for the added features.

Enjoy your weather - no matter what. I’m a weather person - I like to prepare myself for the conditions so imagine my absolute delight at finding the most comprehensive weather app known to the Apple App Store. Full of jokes, you can also customise the Carrot weather bot to swear at you (it’s funny!) play discovery games (fog, snow, thunderstorms are all part of the badges to earn) and enjoy the weather conditions in a variety of ways. Living in Sydney, the UV Index is a must and even shows on the Apple watch app. You can customise sources on the free version and if you’re an extreme weather nerd, you can customise everything with a premium subscription. All the love for this app! Long live Carrot Weather.

Absolutely brilliant!!. This app is fantastic!!! It makes me laugh every day, I love the snarky comments, sometimes they are really hilarious. Everything about this is perfect! Thank you developers. Also enjoying the hidden locations game in it. Brilliant widget options too which is fun in the new ios14. Worth the premium price to me, what a great app.

Few features missing. Love the layout and customisation of the app and it’s great to be able to choose WillyWeather as a source. However, there needs to be the option to have exact temperatures rather than rounding up and would also be nice to see weather details such as temp, wind, rain etc for the past 48 hours.

For Aussies, Brilliant. When I first wrote the review for this, it was because Apple’s weather app was broken. Now that Apple weather app is fixed I still think this is so much better. Siri shortcuts integration is awesome. Getting its data source from Willy weather is very good. I still recommend this for Australians. It’s still worth of subscription for me.

Beautiful update 5.0. Carrot Weather is that one app you know will always make you smile and do it’s job perfectly. There are few apps on AppStore that are top notch and Carrot is one of them. You can’t go wrong with it. Customisation, sources, updates, new features, communication of developer (Brian) - all is great. Wish you great success!

Carrot the weather overlord is soooooo funny!!!🤣🤣. I love carrots snarky attitude and the fact that I can customise and switch between sources. I live in Australia and having the option to use Willy Weather as my source is amazing! But I can’t seem to figure out how to get and use the weather report! Please help me with this one !

Inaccurate. While the app is entertaining at telling you what the weather is like, when it comes to showing the degrees I have found it to be inaccurate. 6°c inaccurate on warmer days (in Australia). I won’t be subscribing as other apps can at least do the basic function much more accurately at no cost.

ALMOST perfect weather app for aussies. Great weather app. Be great to see some tighter integration with official BOM weather warnings including full weather warnings including the government issued warning maps were all used to in Australia (currently only get text warnings). Be also great if you could tap into the official bom rain radars if not already This app has unbelievable amounts of customisation options which is awesome! Happy to be a ultra subscriber.

Best weather app. This really is a fantastic weather app - far more interesting than any other bland old weather app. It also has one of the best aesthetic designs. The quips carrot comes up with are pretty entertaining- and sometimes they are the first place I find out about news stories. My only gripe with this app is the levels of personality - while I don’t mind profanity, I only use Carrot at the ‘snarky’ level, because insults against family aren’t funny after your mother dies of cancer. It would be good to see a slight rearranging of the levels, or slightly more granularity on what to include and exclude.

It’s a great, fun App!!!. It’s a great, fun App, with almost everything you could want from a weather App… However, almost $70 a year for the full version is a bit rich, especially when a lot of the “extras” you pay for don’t actually work in Australia (or most other countries)!!! Fortunately, you can still access most of the basics (although none of the maps) without paying for the full version!!!

Thanks for trying in Australia. I stopped using this app after seeing the abysmal accuracy is Australia. When I saw Carrot fixed the issue in the recent update I started using it again. Today, there has been cloud-free skies and bright sun, but Carrot says it has been pouring rain all day. Thanks for trying to fix the problems in Australia, but FAIL. Carrot sticks with telling me the *predicted* regardless of what it’s actually doing outside.

App that you will always use!. I don’t know if this applies to everyone, but for me this is totally worth the price. Very accurate forecast and with other features such as finding hidden features of the world too. Educational and fun at the same time! It’s not one of those apps where you would just switch away after a week or so. I wish CARROT is a bit nicer to us though in terms of language.

I think it is a ripoff. I never write reviews, but I’m so upset about the latest update where their upgrade means that now you need to pay premium to use the widgets; the only reason I bought the application was the widget and since the last update it is saying that now I need premium, don’t get it, it is not worth it and it has the wrong forecast half of the time, I wish I could get my money back!

Lots of personality. Great app, find myself checking the weather more often just to read some of the 'GLaDOSesque' remarks. Not a one trick pony though, good layout makes it easy to parse the information presented quickly and easily.

Absolutely love Carrot weather, but can we please get access to a widget without premium?. Love love love Carrot weather, nothing better than a snarky bot telling (or controlling) the weather! I loved having a snarky weather widget on my Home Screen when widgets first came out, however now no Carrot weather widget is available without premium subscription, I just wish even one basic widget was available without premium! Have to resort to using another weather app widget and now I don’t use Carrot weather as often and so I’ve lost my streaks.

About as good as it gets.. Carrot is a fun app but under the humour lies the beating heart of the best, most accurate weather app you’re likely to find for iOS. With its Quick Swap of data source you can pretty quickly find the most accurate source for your location. Having said that, weather is fickle. It can vary widely just in a few kilometres. Sunny here, raining in town. This is especially true on a small island like Bali, Indonesia. So don’t be too hard on Carrot, she does the best she can with the available data.

A weather app that wants to charge you $7 a month. It’s nice. However, you’re bombarded with “upgrade to premium” basically in every single window.. honestly, the more I use this app, the more likely I’m to think that the weather doesn’t exist unless I pay for premium. I can understand paying monthly subscriptions for weather if you’re for instance, a farmer, needing very detailed weather forecasts. Avoid the app until the developer reduces its spamming in the free version, or reduces the cost to something reasonable for personal weather usage.

A little chuckle at obsessive weather checks. Well obsessive NOW anyhow! Carrot aka Jeeves today possibly jester tomorrow - is perfectly sassy to air every stuffy room, lighten all dingy days and judge me just the way I do the app! Fun guys - app dev team #ftw … or you fierce orange giant with unusually whimsical leafy fingers. Well played, well played.

No good.. I bought this app originally because I liked how unique it was and that it made checking the weather fun. I especially liked the options for widgets on the Home Screen. But now with the new update you have to have a premium subscription to access most features and you can’t even get a widget on the Home Screen now without a premium subscription.. I paid $8 for the app and now I’m expected the start paying $15 month for features I already had beforehand.

Nothing Special - Useless in Australia. Been playing around with Carrot Premium on my iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch. I don’t find it any more helpful that the default Apple Weather app on my iPhone & Watch. Why pay an overpriced subscription for an app lacking in features and basic weather alerts when they are included and free on Apple’s default apps. Carrot app is basically useless in Australia. Not paying $65 to $97 each year for a basic app just for providing stupid witty comments about the weather and nothing else. On top of having one of the most expensive subscription plans in the App Store, they even have the audacity to ask for tips in the app. Save your money.

What a fun app. Such a fun and cool app, but at the same time it provides such accurate and thorough information about the weather and what’s coming. It also provides a function that talks and narrates with funny lines and comments that will give you a small smile when you hear what it has to say ! X

Great app. Totally worth it. Free version runs smoothly, very accurate temperature and conditions reasonable amount of other features; paid version is brilliant in terms of customisation and extra features. Definitely check it out.

Great App. Living in Australia, having the WillyWeather option is amazing, but the personality of this app makes it truly a joy to use. The latest release makes it incredibly customisable, as well. Recommended for anyone even vaguely interested in the weather.

Good but needs more accurate data sources. The app is very good overall with a few caveats. The data sources available are not accurate in Australia, I upgraded to use weather underground only to be told I had to upgrade to to top tier to use it because I have an Apple Watch. I would be very happy if The Australian Bureau of Meteorology data was available for local weather updates

Expensive subscriptions. It’s not the fact that one app has a pricy subscription it’s that all apps are going this way. I understand developers need cash which I’m happy to pay handsomely for a one off fee but it’s these on going expenses in our lives that I’m willing to do without. Great app but I’m not paying for yet another $12ish per month subscription. A note to the developers - please don’t respond with your annual subscription rates. It’s the same thing but more of a surprise when the year turns around. Good luck with this as we head into the next GFC.

EXPENSIVE Premium Subscription Costs!!!. This is a great weather app. Clearly a lot...and I mean a lot of hard work and attention to detail has been well invested in CARROT Weather. However, in my personal opinion, the Premium subscription pricing is quite high and seems very expensive for many people. This is of course to the discretion of the owners and hard working developers of the beautiful and amazing app but for me...at this kind of pricing...I would unfortunately have to give it a PASS for now until which time perhaps if and when a more REASONABLE pricing structure comes in. Nevertheless, a BIG THANK YOU to the developers here.

Expensive For a Weather App. There are plenty of free weather applications out there that do similar things to this one. I just cannot justify the annual fee for the premium version. Besides the cost, the app is great in every other aspect. I think the developer would get more premium subscriptions if the price was more appealing and only charged once for the life of the app.

Great, but missing pollen count. This app has been great when I’ve been using it. It has all the information I need, just without the pollen count which is restricted to the US. Living in Australia and with severe hayfever, needing the pollen count on Carrot would be extremely helpful as I have to use the BOM and other sites just for the pollen count. Apart from this, the app is very fun to use in terms of customisation, ease of use and quite funny to use. If we could have the option to add any of our own sources that would be amazing, but the current ones work well with no faults. Great app, 9/10, just wanting pollen count :P

Funniest weather Ap blew me away. Never have I been so keen to check the weather forecast, multiple times a day. Whoever wrote this is definitely on something, possibly illegal and I wish they would share it around. A weather Ap that makes me laugh out loud. It has a few hidden little gems in there to have a bit of fun with just go looking around the Ap to find them. I highly recommend the Carrot Weather Ap. I have actually wasted a few hours on the couch playing around with the different setting and I regret none of it. Download it and have fun. You have been warned. Lol

Not for Australia. Please do not purchase if in Australia, carrot states temperature to be a maximum of 25c next day when the Australian weather bureau states 30c. plus on the Apple Watch the temperature remains the same on complications until you open the app then it refreshes to the current temperature that is still out compared to the apple weather app, in Australia we have many free app’s that out perform the paid carrot app plus carrot what’s me to pay extra for a subscription for more features that are normally free.

Awesome but Premium Only Widgets. This is a really fun and useful app and it would be 5 stars if only their was a free widget option. Although not terribly expensive 8 dollars a month is more than I and many others are able to spend on a weather app. If you want some of the premium features and are willing to spend the money this is an excellent app but if your looking for a fully featured free or at least fairly featured weather all this isn’t it.

Download now!!. I literally love this app so much. It’s so easy to use and it makes learning abt the weather fun. Its also like fun to play around with like all the cool feature and it make you wanna stay on the app for hours I swear. It’s literally the best and I’m using true free version. You need to download this rn! It’s the best 😝😝

Great weather app and I love it. Love this weather app cause it’s genuinely funnny most of the time and also makes my day, even if the jokes are insults at me. I only wish the extra features of such a great weather app could be free (especially the data sources which needs premium). I would highly recommend if you want to make life more interesting and also if you have spare change hanging around in your account.

great but the new update ruined it. this app was amazing and i absolutely loved the widget because it felt like the app was yelling at me and making funny comments, HOWEVER with the new update i need to subscribe and pay to i use the widget and i’m a student and broke so the fun has pretty much been taken away. The new look also is a little bit of a bummer i liked the older one better. Honestly the new update took away a lot of the fun as we now need to pay for a lot of it and i just don’t have the funds to do that. I obviously know that the developers need money but I already bought this app at $8 AUD i cant really spend more money on it

Excited for rejiggered v5!. I was literally just coming to pester the maker for more secret locations, but saw the new version sitting there waiting for me to download. Looking forward to the new changes (downloading now!). Love we don’t LOSE what we already had for being loyal, like most other apps. 😡 You are awesome. Keep up the good work.

Excellent App!. This is the kind of app I am willing to spend money on, the subscriptions are well priced especially for premium but the Ultrapremium is a fair jump in price, it is justified though for the price to get all the data constantly. The app works seamlessly through devices, from the iPhone to iPad to the Watch and the TV. It’s very comedic and makes the weather very enjoyable adding challenges and achievements. Having access to Underground is great but a few more weather sources would be appreciated (e.g. AccuWeather) The only other feature I could recommend is rain prediction for Australia. But other than that, this is an outstanding app and well worth the price. Kind regards, Meatbag

Trial doesn’t trial everything. Installed because of the watch complications on offer. Found out the trial version doesn’t include all the watch complications. If your going to pay a huge amount per year for an app you should get the whole thing to try? The phone app itself was a bit lacking for actual in depth weather info, seems to focus on being pretty and having a joke which is fine if you only want to know the daily temperature and have a laugh.

Wrong. It’s not raining where I am but it says I am

Used to be better. I paid for the app to get more features but I do not support subscription apps, it is just a greedy money grab IMHO. I also bought it to use with my watch, now everything has been changed and you have to pay for every little thing although I already paid for the app. Another one bites the dust, you guys all think you have the next best thing until the greed kicks in, then you end up losing more than you gain. I am not sure who suggested the update but I do not like it, it looks cheap and something a kid would do. I liked the other version better, how do I go back to it?

Subscription ethics. Bought the app, widgets enabled. Latest update now requires monthly subscription after buying the app to enable widgets. Daylight robbery.

Fallen from grace. New look isn’t as good. The publisher is restricting features behind subscriptions, I don’t even care if I retain any features for having the app prior, this behaviour is an awful trend and should be avoided by consumers. Please avoid this app.

REALLY??!!!. I pay $7 and still have less than most other apps give for free??!!! Then you want another $1.50 to $10.95 per month for other crap??!! How’s that for your ‘snarky’ carrot cr-app!!!?

Time to move to another weather app.... I bought this app long time ago. Then paid during several month a subscription to see how were some extra features and decided they were not worth the expensive monthly fee. But now this?? With v5.0 all widgets are behind a paywall?? Not even a basic free widget? I like the the update overall. But the widget was my main point of information for weather and I would click on it from time to time to have more details. Time to move to another weather app.

Very good app, but…. The fact that the themes are all demons names made me delete the app

Was great until it turned into a money grab. App was great, a lively weather app with fun interaction and multiple source of weather data. But then one day it decided to turn into a money grab of an app, never mind you already spent $6 for a weather app, now it’s a monthly subscription service. That seemed a bit too much

Not what was promoted. They highlight all these nice functionalities so you download it at 6.99$. Then you learn that there is a subscription monthly fee to use. This is pure thievery.

Update kills widget without premium. My beloved app that I paid for many years ago with the promise of many features is asking for more money and taking away features like the widget. Too bad that the team decided to go in this direction. Time to look for a new weather app...

SO disappoint in this app. Do not buy.. I’ve had this app for years, and I’ve always enjoyed how quirky it was and all of the cool features. It was worth paying the one time $7 fee. So why in the hell, considering most weather apps are free, why am I, someone who has already paid, have my widgets locked behind some new monthly pay wall? This is beyond stupid and I’m deleting the app right now and I’m contacting support for a refund, I don’t care how long ago I bought this, this is an absolute disgusting way to treat people who have supported this app for years, all for pure greed. Disgusting, you’ve lost ALOT of supporters because of this garbage move. We will all go enjoy a free weather app that won’t lock us out of our own features that we paid for.... scum.

What...?. No idea why the raving reviews. I bought the app and got literally nothing more than the other free apps give for free. For the crazy subscription prices I might have gotten a bit more but absolutely no idea why all these 5 star reviews. Fishy.

No watch complications. I am shocked that you have to buy a SUBSCRIPTION to be able to have the Carrot app as a complication for my watch. This is the exact purpose for which I bought this app. There is absolutely no reason why having it as a watch face complication requires a monthly subscription, other than as a money grab by the developers. Shame on you, especially for not making this clear in the app description. Money down the drain. I feel robbed and cheated.

They want more money. So I already pay for this app and now they want to pay a membership for use the widget? How greed you have to be???

Disappointed. Awesome app. But I’m rating this with a one star, since I’ve always used its widget and all of a sudden the widget dowse work. It says we need to upgrade to premium. Not really sure why when we never needed to. It’s like paying for something that we already had in the beginning. The developers are holding the widget for a monthly ransom. The reason mentioned in the app for a subscription model, is that some features and services cost the developers subscription. But common, widgets too?? These developers are too greedy. See for your self, they even added a tip them feature in the app. Edit: I had to restore purchases, widget is now working. But still not happy with the app, since the restore purchase option wasn’t seemingly easy enough to find.

The crazy-powerful weather and money sucking App. Ha, this used to be fun. But the constant reminders to premium sub by removing features. Make this already an expensive app a rip off. I am just going back to Ventusky for the better weather radar anyway.

Waste of time. Almost everything is hidden behind crazy paywalls of either $27/year or $52/year. Total insanity. I can’t believe there are people who will pay. Remember when phone apps used to be a couple bucks as a one time purchase?

Incorrect wind chill factor.. I couldn’t last 24 hours on this app. I live in a place where the temperature swing are massive when you include the wind, and it has been displayed incorrectly the entire time. Totally useless to me.

SCAM: Watch complication only available with premium subscription. I literally bought this just for the Apple Watch complications but they are locked behind a subscription pay wall. This is not made clear on App Store page. SCAM

Scam. I purchased this app years ago, had full functionality including widgets when iPhone was updated to the new IOS. Now they have decided to offer an even higher “premium” monthly plan which has now taken away my widgets and other features I had already been enjoying. There should have been a grandfathering in of the apps original supporters instead it’s now become a money grab! Don’t pay for this weather app when there are many other ones for free that do the same job!

Wonderful, but could be better. Hi, not sure if it is just me, the app won’t refresh it’s current state when I look at my watch. The temperature stays the same as I refreshed few hours ago. So it will be perfect if you guys can implement that. Thank you Other than that, everything else are amazing.

NEW UPDATE/SUBSCRIPTION PRICING. STOP WITH THE SUBSCRIPTION PRICING. Since the new update many features have now been inhibited unless subscribing. I think I speak for many users that a one time app fee would be much more popular. The subscription trend is not a good way to keep users. Will be uninstalling.

Don’t buy subscription. I gat tier 3, that cost 40$ an year. Premium support doesn’t work, radar +4 hours doesn’t work, rain or snow notifications doesn’t work. Support is not answering. I guess that option not working in Canada. But nobody told me about that. Don’t spend your money, don’t pay this developer.

So mad. I can’t believe u pieces of trash put the widgets I already had behind a monthly subscription. Terrible.

You are not serious, are you?. Another $6.49/month for the widget feature? And you have even more subscription plans for more features? I don't think you are being serious. This is outrageous and very disappointing.

Too expensive. Used to be able to use on Apple Watch with no subscription, now having to pay 60 to use it. No thanks.

Version 5 is a garbage downgrade. With version 4 I had access to widgets. With version 5 everything is now hidden behind a subscription paywall.

Warning: don’t buy the app. Once you buy it, they remove features and put behind their premium wall. Come on! A widget? This is so low!

Extremely Disappointed.. After reading multiple comments it seems like we can all agree that this was such a great app until the most recent update. You gave us false hope that we got a new layout and everything to only find that we have to cough up more money just to see what the weather is? Why would you make us pay for an app... to make us pay for the app monthly? ( fake ads and now you can’t use the widget ) This used to be my favourite app, now I hate it.

Not worth the money. I just don’t understand the cost for this app of $6.99 in Canada and loads of positive reviews. I’m leaning to the idea most of them are just fake. The app is primitive, even in order to get notifications you need an additional purchase of subscription. What then costs $6.99? Just to check on weather manually? Hundreds of better apps may do it for free. There’s lots of similar and even better weather apps on the App Store, and much cheaper. Just a useless waste of money, will delete this after this review.

You need to pay extra for widgets??. Seeing as this weather app costs $6.99 CDN I was shocked to see you need to pay more for most of the ios14 widgets. Wish I could refund..

Why do I have to go premium?. I love this app, I used it all the time. I liked the new widget feature and used it a lot for my weather look but also as a way to get to the app quickly. But now I have to buy premium to access my widget? I don’t think that’s very fair. I’ve been using this app for 2 years now, and I feel a little betrayed

New version disappointing. I am really sad to be saying goodbye to this app after so many years of loving it. Unfortunately I can’t afford to upgrade and the new update took away some key features I use to free users. I would be very happy to look at ads to support this creator who but without widgets this app is unusable to me. Disappointing.

V5.0 is a downgrade, widget no longer available to paid users. According to CARROTT "If you purchased me before the release of v5.0 , then you get to keep ALL the features from the original paid up front version of the app FOREVER." Yet the v5.0 no longer allows non-premium users to add widget to their home screen. The above quote is a blatant lie.

Horrible Move. Already spent money just to buy the app, now you want monthly fees ontop of it? Sorry, uninstalled.

Why after 5 years do they add a pay wall?. I’ve been using this weather app for well over 5 years at this point. I’ve recommend the app over the years to a large number of friends and family as well seeing it as the standard for weather apps to both be creative and to inform their user with up to date information that was reliable, quick and easy to use. The most recent version of the app takes advantage of people such as myself whom have grown accustomed to using carrot in our daily lives and now puts basic features such as using widgets on your home screen being a 27$ pay wall. That’s absurd, greedy, and downright disrespectful to the people that have been promoting this app from its inception. Premium is a concept that is okay to have, but to make basic features locked behind a pay wall is only going to drive away new comers and piss off long time fans such as myself in the process.

Kinda sad really.. I paid for this app years ago. It was a great app back then, but now. It just feels money hungry. I understand the dev needs money, but to lock such basic features such as Widgets behind a monthly paywall. I probably wouldn’t have cared if Widgets remained free, but given how it’s really the only premium feature I’d use, it’s not worth the monthly cost. So back to the default Apple Weather app since at least widgets are free.

Everything pay. Almost everything needs to pay

5.0 = Oh Hell No. Carrot has become a money sucking parasite and I’ll spend my money elsewhere.

Nags to subscribe, inaccurate, buggy. This paid app nags frequently with pop-ups, and banners on nearly every dialog in using it, to upgrade to monthly or annual subscriptions of questionable value. It is not reliably accurate in even reporting weather, let alone predicting it. As one example, on the day I bought it there were frequent rain squalls (it was raining about half the time all day) and the radar feature accurately showed them approaching but the app’s hourly situation icons never once indicated present or future rain. There are at least a couple of bugs, the most frequent and annoying being that although the app is set to use the last-viewed location for its report upon opening, it apparently tries to use Location Services (which I have turned off in iPadOS settings) and then displays an ugly error message about not finding the location and offers a retry button more prominently than a means to search for my previously- and most-frequently used location. (I guess the developers *really* want my current location along with other information being collected.) None of these and other shortcomings are overcome by the ‘humor’ that so charms many users... it’s most often just cheap easy sarcasm and adolescent silliness. I only paid CDN$6.99 for this and I feel ripped off; sure glad I didn’t pay almost $40 for a subscription!

DO NOT BUY. Widget for home screen is now locked behind a pay wall. It wasn’t yesterday.. now i’m being forced to upgrade to premium just to get it back? HUGE SCAM. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. BUY GME INSTEAD

Don’t Update to V5.0. Sigh. It’s been such a great run carrot. I’ve been using you for years and I’ve loved your wit and your widget. First thing I see after updating is I now have to subscribe for access to the widget. That’s what I get for not reading the update details too clearly I guess. Farewell meatbags

It’s alright I guess. I have no idea why I paid 6 bucks for this app. I really don’t. It tells the weather with a bit of sarcasm. I regret considering this worthy of my 6 dollars. Meh.

Do NOT subscribe to this app. If you’re in Canada DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO THIS APP. This app is not fully functional in Canada yet we pay the same amount as we would in USA. Furthermore, you can’t find this out until you’ve subscribed, once you do, you CAN NOT CANCEL. I asked apple for a refund and according to apple, bogus/misleading business practices aren’t a valid reason to get a refund. I feel totally deceived and would not endorse this company every again.

Not worth it.. Had the app for years. The most recent update got rid of home screen widgets and you now need to subscribe to access that feature. It's just a money grab.

New iPhone bug. Carrot works fine on my iPad but as of this morning keeps displaying message on my iPhone that says that I have no internet connection. Pine wifi and internet functioning fine on other iPhone apps. Suggestions?

Really in love with this app. I never thought looking up for the weather could be so entertaining. Definitively worth paying for

Pay to use. Got it as it was recommended for Apple Watch. Does not work with watch unless you pay for premium (as well as anything else you want from a weather app, expect to pay for premium beyond a basic 7 day forecast)

Update is a money grabber. I paid for lifetime Carrot Weather. With the new update I find that I no longer have access to some of the features I used to have without buying a monthly or yearly subscription. For example I was able to get maps before the upgrade to version 5 and now it is listed as “Premium”. The reason I bought a lifetime membership was so I would not be making monthly or yearly payments.

The best. Finally, a good weather app + very fun. You Will look forward to check the weather.

Not worth its cost. It has a nice UI that’s customizable, it has the nice customizable app icon as well, a lot of control over the kind of information you see, and it has the snarky chat feature where you can do quests and get roasted by a robot. What it doesn’t do very well is tell the weather. Sure, you can pick from different sources and use personal weather stations, but I can’t tell you how many times I was looking out my window at pouring rain and the app would say partly cloudy, cloudy, or even sunny with no chance of rain. And this was all from different sources as well. It seems like it just doesn’t update or the developer chose to use the worst sources for weather information. I would personally put it just slightly above the default Apple Weather app and I would highly advise against purchasing the subscription. It’s just not worth the cost, especially at $3 a month. Maybe it should be free or at most cost $0.50 to a $1 a month.

Carrot, what can I say, funny!. I love carrot! It’s the funniest app for the weather, and conditions that are happening today outside. I like the time travel, and 10 day forecasting as well as the badges. The badges however are WAY off since I have gotten a few that I should have many times over considering the fact that I’ve survived a few hurricanes since I’ve had this app! Lightning, wind, storms? Yeah, ya think? Yet I don’t have those… snow? Yeah we had that last year, it was the coldest on rehired here in like 100 years! Go to a sexy city, NEW ORLEANS! Frequently, yet I don’t see that badge. So your badge system isn’t correct at all, or at all accurate. I track those places too. In your app, I use the app for the weather in those places! Orlando too. Biloxi, Alabama, (SNOW) ATLANTA

Always fresh, No Ads, No Crash, and Customizable. Got carrot after much internet research and reading reviews. I was sick of that weather app with the blue icon with the constant ads and ever changing interface. I need to easily check forecaster hourly temps, wind, windchill, precip, and UV index for multiple cities in my State. After a short time with the free version of Carrot, I gladly paid for premium. I love that I can keep my settings when the updates roll out, or choose to add new changes. I feel like the data pulled from multiple sources is perfect for my needs. I enjoy the occasional challenge or unlocking a trophy just for fun and the humorous greetings make me feel like the app appreciates my patronage. I should probably upgrade to ultra premium!

A great app...(But I miss the old look). I have enjoyed Carrot Weather for a couple of years now and still do. The snark gets me going in the morning. There’s nothing like being reminded of your status as a meatbag every time you check the weather to keep you humble. And the little games you can play are fun. My only gripe at this point is admittedly picky, but one of my favorite things about the app prior to its new look was the grand vista of cartoonish scenes of little figures that you would scroll past as you looked at the extended daily forecast. There were fights, people flying kites, zombies, etc...and the scene would change. Now that is gone and replaced by simple boring squares and symbols. I miss the daily changing scenes. And I am sad that I will never get to find out what was in that treasure chest sitting on the cliff side....

Weather...with a chance of quirky!. I really do like the simplicity of this app, but also the fun little things that are said about the weather. It's not extremely different from the native weather app, but it's got a little hint of originality that makes seeing the weather for the day, fun! The extra places that you get the "weather" for is also nice, it makes it sort of game like so you not only want to see the weather, you want to see the weather on the moon and other pop culture "planets". Yes, the fact that you have to pay for something that comes native on the phone is sort of a bummer, but you'll soon forget that when you're using this eccentric weather app! One negative though, I downloaded it onto my iPad mini and it doesn't have any difference, yet in the description it says that there are differences between the iPad/iPhone version...? Still wonder what they are.

AMAZING weather app! Finally!. I've been trying out so many weather apps through years. Some are great, but always missing something that making it not perfect. But THIS! I've only played with it for one day and just loved it. Couldn't help leave a review right away. The UI styles, functionality, details, and the customization!! Just happen to fit my personal taste so well. And they even make it work like a game with achievements! This just add so much fun factor to a potentially boring weather app! Just love it!! Please keep it up! I seldom leave reviews for my hundreds of apps installed in my phone (yes I am a weirdo who loves collecting top notch apps), I only do when the app is too good to not giving a 5 star review, or too bad to not expressing some complaint.

Best weather app on the market. I don’t think I’ve ever reviewed an app, but I had to share with the world just how accurate this app is. It’s worth every cent folks, you will not find a more accurate weather app out there. Is it quirky? Yes. Is it trendy? Yes. Is it nerdy? Oh yeah. Pay for the different tiers they offer - the information you get is amazing. Today there was a thunderstorm one mile away from me and the app told me I wouldn’t get any rain. So, we packed up and had a picnic at the local park. We had sunshine the entire time and watched the thunderstorm cruise on by just north of us. The accuracy is unlike any other. Quit wasting your time with dark sky, weather underground, weather channel, etc. buy this app now and enjoy the features. Be prepared to nerd out with some weather!

Love it, but can still be improved. Overall, it’s a great app. But there is one thing that really should be added. The main screen is an hourly graph with daily summaries of highs and lows with some additional information listed on the bottom. There, however, is no daily graph which should be added. It would be essentially the same design as the hourly graph, but, you know, daily. It wouldn’t provide any extra information than before. It would simply show the same information in a more visual fashion . This could be accessed through swiping up on the daily summary or something else. Also, you should be able to display a wider range of data. I don’t like to have to choose between knowing wind speed and precipitation accumulation

Lacking Basic Features on Free Membership. Carrot appears to have accurate data with hyper local information and does indeed excel over the pre-installed Apple provided weather app. You do receive a good chunk of information depending on what you need and your enthusiasm level is. I even understand the need for advertisements, for a way to make extra cash flow. What I can’t get past is the paywall that’s needed for basic features such as simply having weather notifications? Hopefully, you’re paying attention and not getting struck by lighting because this app won’t tell you unless you fork over the dough. My other gripe is once again being able to display a widget of all things is also hidden behind a paywall, so you are heavily dependent on checking the app each and every time there is any weather occurrence. I’m surprised being able to change the theme isn’t extra either. Laughably there is a tip jar for some reason. You’re not even capable of changing your data source as well if you choose too. Why? Ohh, it’s behind that PayPal I mentioned. The app overall is slick, great UI, accurate data and a fun approach on how you receive the weather. However, if you’re looking for a bit more freedom on basic features that I’d suggest you look elsewhere.

Carrots rain alert is now broken.. Carrot was always spot-on when it came to rain alerts. Since the last couple of updates, including the one released a day or two ago, she’s not even close. Now she constantly is giving rain alerts with not a cloud around. This is interesting because the update indicated that her accuracy when it came to rain alerts was supposed to be enhanced…… instead it’s been broken. Please fix as the false alerts, several times a day, are very annoying. I normally give her 5 stars because she’s been a phenomenal app and so very accurate. However, because of the errors she now suffers, I’ve been forced to downgrade her to 3 stars. Please repair her as I know she’s disappointed with her inaccuracy. You don’t want her to go homicidal! Lol! BTW; I live in Las Vegas. Thank you Sent from my iPhone

Too Funny!!. I used to love this app! Read further down for update. Not only do you get accurate weather information but it swears at you at the same time. Now if they would just keep making Missions! Or you could hire me to do this really fun part of the app! I need more Missions ##%*^€£¥. Thanks Update: Okay back again with additional review......I love the nasty humor but I don’t like the political satire! I hear the SH**T all day long on tv and I really don’t want to hear a slanted view of anything political! There’s lots to choose from to have a nasty humorous comment which I love. The way it is now I’m considering deleting the app. It’s so sad as there’s so much that could be humorous other then taking a political side, that you think is funny. I spent a significant amount of money for this app, maybe you’ll consider trying to make everyone happy. More missions please!

Amazing apple watch & iPhone widgets. Far and away the best weather app for the Apple Watch. It has an information rich, highly customizable complication. And a tap of the complication takes you to a summary of the days weather as well as a graph which allows you to estimate timing of precipitation events over the next 12 hours. One can also quickly access forecasts for other locations (that were saved in iPhone app) via force touch on the watch. App also supports an insane amount of customization in both iPhone app & widgets, so that user can set it up to meet their needs. Importantly, app is constantly being improved, and the developer is responsive to bug reports and open to feedback.

I wanted to like this app. I’ve had this app for over two years. One of the main reasons I had for getting this app over others was the excellent Apple Watch complication. However, the lack of accuracy in weather forecasting makes the speed, stability, and nice aesthetics rather pointless considering weather forecasting is the main purpose of this application. I live in the Pacific Northwest, and this app has failed way too many times to successfully forecast rain and other weather events. I know you can change the weather data sources, but that costs even more money on top of all of the additional money it costs to get the features I want (after I already paid for the app itself). Perhaps if the base cost of simply buying the app wasn’t so steep this review would have been a little different. But for now I cannot justify the cost of this app any longer after its record of unreliability.

Changing my review. After the last update (I’ve had the app for 2 years now), I’m unable to use it on my phone or watch. All I get is the continuous loading app. I emailed the developer and was told it the problem was known and was fixed in a beta and I would get emailed a link to download the working beta. Never received that and my app has been stuck for a month without being able to fully use it or even make use of the newest stuff in the last update. At least I still get temp data points showing on my Apple Watch complication. The widget shows all “0” and the app won’t load on phone or watch. It’s been a month, if there’s a known issue, push out an update to fix it. Oh yeah, I’m also an “Ultra Premium Club” member and have lost a month’s functionality of something I paid for. I will be emailing the developers about getting some sort of compensation for that. I’ll update here about responsiveness and their willingness to support people that pay for extra services and don’t receive them.

This app is SO MUCH MORE than funny jokes with the weather. I’ve been pretty serious over last decade or so with my weather apps being an avid motorcyclist in Colorado. Features like precip notifications are key for me, as well as a robust radar capability, etc. My go to had been dark sky, but with apple deciding to deprecate it in favor of their own app, I did some research for a fancy, paid weather app that had features I’d use. After some research in a couple of downloads, I decided to do a trial with carrot. I have to say, this is easily, the most feature rich weather application I’ve ever seen. Every single widget has several other screens behind it with tons of info and explainers. This app is a geeks dream. Additionally, it seems like every single new feature apple implements in iOS, be it cards, dynamic island, robust Apple Watch integration, this app has it. It will not be wasted on a 14 Pro Max! Seems like within weeks of availability, this author implements new features which are nicely explained in his release notes. And the jokes really are pretty funny, even incorporating latest events. This app is absolutely stellar and will be getting annual renewals from me.

Amazing customization. I’ve been a Carrot user for several years now (a “legacy” subscriber) and it’s just the most fun app for checking the weather. The data is top notch and it’s amazingly customizable. I’m really uncomfortable in humidity, and so I have my app configured to show me humidity and wind speed hourly, along with other useful things like how hard it will rain, wet bulb temperature, etc. The only thing I’ve ever wanted to do but can’t is have the hourly layout show temp on 2 scales (C/F, C/K, etc.) at once. This is possible in the “current conditions” panel, but not on the hourly or daily panels. Creator, if you can enable that, I’ll be the happiest Carrot user on the planet! I’ve recommended the app to many friends and they’ve also become happy “meatbags”. Try this app and have fun customizing every bit of it to your liking!

The only app I pay for- but I won’t again. I’ve used six different weather apps for extended periods of time. There are some things about each one I like and some I do not. The same is true with Carrot. However, bc it is the only one I pay for I expect it to be better, more convenient and less problematic than free apps. It just isn’t that way. 1-It does not mark locations other than my own. I cannot easily keep track of my family and zoom in on small marginal weather zones They live in small towns and I do need to zoom to find them. Every single bloody time I have to go thru that’s. 2-The maps won’t load at least 50% of the time. This feature is one of my most used features, love maps. 3-There is no hurricane tracker options, which most free apps provide. The comedy and fun tasks are cute, even educational at times. But that is what really sets Carrot apart and I don’t feel it’s worth $20/years. So it’s back to free weather apps for me.

Disrespecting original supporters. A long time ago I found this app and absolutely loved it. So much so I bought the premium package and unlocked everything on it. Well with iOS 16 they decided they are going to convert previously unlocked items to locked behind a paywall. I used to have home screen widgets for the weather and it was fantastic and dint cost me extra. Now they are requiring a yearly SUBSCRIPTION to have something they used to offer to people who paid for the original app. Want to use home and lock screen widgets? $15/year. Want to know rain is headed your way? Double the price, they want $30/year. If you want an extremely basic weather app that aligns with your political viewpoints then sure it's a decent app. But if you want to have anything over that you're going to be paying for it over and over again. Regardless of being an original supporter or not.

Good app!. There are aspects of this app I do not like and when I started this review I was going my ‘stars’ to four because of those dislikes. But this app has lots of good features too, features, weather related details and helpful background information either not found elsewhere or not found as concisely as in this app. Because of that I gave this app a full 5 stars. What sold me on this app, the reason I downloaded and installed it is because it provide wet-bulb temperatures. I have found ‘feels like’ temperature too subject for my liking and I think, I hope, I will find the wet-bulb temperature more objective… and more to my liking. For the record I have not found another phone app that provides wet-bulb data. They may be out there but I haven’t found any. Bottom line, a very good, data-rich app.

Good app as long as you don't get distracted with the achievements. It's a well designed and amusing weather app, as long as you focus on that side of it and ignore the in-games and achievements. Those are there for fun and to keep you engaged with it (and buy apps), but they quickly turn it into an achievement grinding app rather than a weather app, if you let it. It's not that it's bad, just that there is no end to it, if you try to chase one. Be forewarned that there will be no point when you think "I got them all done and can now set that part of it aside and use it just as a delightful weather app." If you are a completionist, it will be a neverending grind and will kill the fun for you. If you are practicing Buddhist detachment, it will be good training for that.

TOTAL CRAP since 5.0 update. I’m beyond disappointed with this move to a subscription only model. Let me be clear this app is 100% useless without paying a monthly subscription. Once the best and MOST accurate weather app on the market now just a crap weather feed that continually reminds you to buy a subscription. No widgets for your Home Screen without paying every month, also a less accurate weather feed source as default because of course you can only pick a more accurate source if you pay monthly. Everyone needs to delete immediately. I don’t mind paying for quality apps and would happily pay to upgrade every few years but I refuse to pay a monthly fee just for the privilege of using an app especially $5 a month for a single user when the weather data is provided by other services/servers. I mean come on, I pay .99 a month for 50gb of cloud storage but that’s as close as I will get to subscriptions. So very disappointed.

It’s cool, but not worth the price. I get it, things costs money. But this was one that I couldn’t dive into. I used Dark Sky for years and loved it, but Apple screwed that up. So I went looking for another app and decided to try Carrot. I had known about it for a long while but was happy with Dark Sky. But the time had come… I downloaded it and was amazed. It is a pretty cool app… and it even gives you the weather. But when the trial was up I couldn’t pull the trigger in the purchases. I can get weather forecast, along with radar, easy and free on multiple apps or online searches, except with Carrot. Everything is locked down on Carrot unless I pay for it.. and like I said, I get it, stuff costs money. But with Carrot it seemed like the draw to pay is to continue to interact with the AI. I won’t pay $60 a year just to be able to put an app I pay for on my different devices, and have to pay that every year. I would have paid it once though. For me, it just comes to the money, or more correctly put, the continued subscription. For those looking for a fun, interactive weather app, this is it. But for those that don’t want to continuously pay a high premium for an app that provides information that can easily and quickly be found for free, this is not the app.

New Fave App, but..... ***UPDATE: I got it figured out! I I hit “Synchronize” twice and when it didn’t update after 20-30 mins, I rebooted both the watch and the phone and put the watch on the charger overnight; now it’s working as it should! I just recently discovered CARROT⁵ after a brief stint with Dark Sky, and I love it! I have the personality on Overkill and I find myself checking my watch more and more, just to see what over-the-top, foul thing it’s saying now! Haha! For the most part, the weather/forecast has been pretty accurate. The one issue I’ve noticed is with Apple Watch complication for the “large slot.” I have it set to Snarky, but it just says “Rain for Hour...” even though it’s not raining and hasn’t been raining. The temp is correct, but the snark/condition is wrong and does not change.

Love the Layout But Some Bugs. So, I’ve been using this app for a while now. I like the layout, the widget, the graphics, etc. But, there are some weird things with it. For example, when you open up the app, the current temp is completely off from the temp you see in the hour by hour portion. Today, right now, the current temp for 1PM is showing as 40. But, in the hour-by-hour section, it shows the temp being 31 at 1PM. Also, the different weather sources can be wildly different and even the one labeled as most accurate isn’t accurate when it snows. We just had 5-6 inches of snow one day early this week and the not only were the totals showing .32 inches instead of 5-6, but multiple sources were also way off, except for one that was the closest. I’ve noticed that the NWS here is by far the most accurate, but that’s not a source we can select. I’m hoping that a future release will include this as a source.

Best Weather App I’ve Used. I’ve tried many weather apps throughout the years and after a week with this one I’ve become convinced it is well worth the subscription fee (especially if you pay for a whole year at once). The customization options for the main app interface, the widgets, and the Apple Watch complications are unmatched. The ability to choose your weather data source is also a great feature. This app really gives you the ability to build your own weather app (if you pay for premium). The snarky weather descriptions are just great added bonuses that bring smiles to my face throughout the day. The only reason I’m giving it 5 stars is because the App Store won’t let me give it 6.

Great app. I absolutely love this app, it’s my go to app and is slowly replacing Dark Sky as my only weather app on my iPhone besides the built in stock app. Only hope the radar is and soon will be more detailed and smoother along with the maps. I highly recommend CARROT WEATHER, it’s totally worth the price and subscription as I’m an Ultra-Premium subscriber. Great job on the last update. Top notch app and very clever wit. I love it, keep up the great work! Update...I really love this app but it really needs precipitation notifications and if it doesn’t get an update with it very soon I’m deleting this app and sticking with Dark Sky as my go to app even though I plunked down $9.99 for the ultra premium service. After all we’re pay top notch prices for this app for features that are already on free apps. AT LEAST GIVE US PRECIPITATION NOTIFICATIONS CARROT⁵!!!

Carrot is no ordinary weather app - it is a killer one!!. While Carrot is known to be just another normal weather app, this one throws in snarky, funny commentary about the weather, politics, and everywhere in between. The app even speaks to you in a serious or friendly voice, which I found interesting. However, even jokes and funny commentary can’t liven up the other points of the app, which include the subscriptions and other options, such as notifications and achievements. But still, checking the weather and hearing a good, quirky joke from Carrot herself sounds like fun. I find this app to be a quite useful resource, and I will continue to use it forever (until I switch to another weather app)! One more thing: ignore Carrot’s expletive-laden comments if you set her friendliness option very high. It might be funny, but she can mean serious stuff (I am not even kidding!)...

Crashes after update.. Final update: Developer has been responding promptly and we’ve managed to get all of my data restored. Back to happy! The update this morning killed my weather. Please fix. Update: the follow-up patch did the trick but I lost my Streaker progress even though I checked in with my Carrot app on my backup phone. Sadly this bothers me enough to drop a star. On the bright side, keep up the great work. I love the achievements and secret locations (I was caught up before this update). Latest update: Dev was responsive to begin with and sent me a Test Flight invitation so I’d be able to restore my streak with a command line entry. This somewhat worked as (for whatever reason I can’t imagine) there’s a limit of 300 days when you restore a streak. I was told this would be removed in the next build released, which it wasn’t and still hasn’t been. Dev is no longer responding to emails. Having resigned to the data loss, I deleted the test flight version and went back to the production release. Even though I restored from a backup on my backup iPhone, I lost MORE data (six weather conditions and 40% of the 30 different locations, whatever that maths out to). Guess I’ll just have to cross my fingers and hope no future updates break my streak again.

Top Weather App & Great Developers. I’ve tried a ton of apps for my fleet of Apple devices. This developer is easily one of the best I’ve seen. The FAQ for their app is full of terrific information about the app. They are honest and upfront about everything inside their optional subscriptions. The cuteness throughout the app adds a human element you hardly get from software. The #1 feature in my book is the customization of the Apple Watch complications. Brilliant! This one feature is worth the asking price to get great data on my watch. It’s a major upgrade over the default weather app. The $4.99 a year subscription is well worth it to have it update reliably and it’s customizable!!!! Thank you for all of your attention to detail. This app isn’t just great software, it’s a piece of art.

Amazing!. I am so happy I came back to this app. I’ve been using the stock weather app and Storm radar. I was ok with it but not happy. This new update is perfect! I’ve never really liked the AI in carrot weather so I turned it off right away. But the customization is awesome!! It doesn’t feel half baked. When you set your layout, it feels like it was designed that way. The little features are amazing too. Seriously, you need to look deep in the settings for some awesome little features like the zoom level on the radar. This is one thing I would like to see changed. I would like to see maybe a county level zoom. State seems to be slightly to zoomed out and city is too close. Or maybe a custom zoom level you can adjust. But that’s it. Everything else is truly perfect! Great job!

Best Weather App - 10/10 do recommend. Carrot is by far the best weather app one can look for. Best radar, most intuitive layout selection (you can build your own depending on what you need), and a vast selection of data sources to choose from. The developers really listen to what you’re look for and don’t take themselves too seriously. Great sense of humor from the team that will consistently keep you going back to the app (thus, continually informed on the weather). The base app is great. Annual subscription is a steal, as well. Edit: Had a slight technical issue. Emailed the developer. They emailed me back on the SAME DAY and resolved it. Amazing customer support. Very fast and extremely helpful. Only adds the what an amazing app it is.

Used to be a great app.. Layouts have improved and are easier to manage! Overall my first go to weather app. Quirky at times, not always in a good way, but very good 90% of the time. Here is a feature request to make it even better: could we pls have an auto-revert feature (as an option)? So, I often check the weather of my family and friends in other, far-away places. Then I forget to switch back to my local weather and think it will be cold and rain tomorrow (but it will be over 32°C and fiercely sunny). It would be nice if we could set a preference in settings, to auto-revert from other places to current location after a certain time (5 minutes?) of inactivity. Just an idea. Thanks for considering.

Subscription after purchasing limited app. Back when I first got the app, I enjoyed it. Weather really had a personality and a lot of cute little details. A year or so later, the charm is gone and the app feels really barebones. Dark Sky costs about the same price and you get a lot more. No subscription for notifications for one. You have to pay for a subscription to get severe weather alerts from CARROT when all of the other free apps do that. I get it’s all ad-free, but this app doesn’t have much going for it besides the “mascot”. I love the personality in this app don’t get me wrong, there’s just no good features when paying for this app for the first time. If the app was free with a subscription model, this would be different. If this app included actual good features like Radarscope at first, this would also be different. I don’t see these things changing, so this app won’t be stinking around for much longer for me.

Eesh. Update killed the beautiful UI.. I'm pretty sad to let this app go after using it since it released so many years ago, but yikes. Visually, the new design is full of very mediocre decision making. Lots of awkward white space, poor contrast, harsh color clashes, and overall something that feels like a very clumsy utilization of a phone screen. And the dark theme is now one of those that goes for "actually black" rather than dark gray, which only emphasizes the problems above... I'm very doubtful that any of these issues will ever be addressed, regardless of whatever empty Developer Response™ may come. Perhaps, a few years down the line, as yet another feature restricted behind the $30/year membership. UPDATE: Spent some additional time messing with the interface customization options. Well, it is absolutely mind blowing to me that anyone could think this is a visual upgrade, especially after looking at screenshots of the old app. Complete bummer.

My favorite weather app. I love everything about Carrot Weather App. Customizing is easy with tons of choices. The map challenges are awesome, fun and with links to Wikipedia in case you want more info on weather terms and about each of the map challenges you solve. Swapping sources is easy and finding private local stations near you , gives you an even better picture of local weather. Don’t forget to turn your volume down., if you don’t want , the snarky Carrot guy to tell everyone you are just another meatball. I‘m hooked. The Carrot Weather. App takes the boring daily weather reports and spices it up so you actually look forward. to interacting with with your tiny little weatherman living inside Carrot. Lovely app!

Almost perfect. I’m a refugee from Dark Sky. It was the layout for the hourly precipitation and cloud cover that mattered to me most. Carrot is the replacement I was looking for. It can be configured to look and act almost exactly like Dark Sky. I have three main critiques that would make it 5 stars for me. - Give us an out of the box ‘Dark Sky Clone’ template. It took me a while to configure one. This is a good idea anyway cause there’s a lot of us refugees and I had to do quite a bit of digging to realize Carrot could be such a close replacement. - the color coded cloud cover forecast in the text-based vertical chart should be on a gradient from blue (clear) to dark grey (cloudy). It’s a little hard to read at a glance, since it’s all grey. Or, make the colors customizable. - I find the menu based customizer kind of confusing. I much prefer something more visually-based. Or a tap-and-hold widget style system to modify appearances. Not really the biggest deal to me, but initial configuration to my liking took a while. The ability to change the app icon to something a little more conventional looking was a nice plus cause I was not a fan of the default icon on my Home Screen. All that said, this is definitely the app I was looking for an have every intention of paying for it. It’s already become my system default..

Heads Up Before Buying:. I finally caved in and purchased Carrot weather a couple of weeks ago and I was pretty excited to hear what this AI would say. However once I purchased it, the app prompted me to purchase a premium club tier. You have two purchase options, monthly or yearly and three club tier options. The prices range from .99-$8 a month or $6.99 to $30 a year. I should have read the details towards the bottom where it mentions the features you get based on the tier but long story short I didn’t and one of the most basic features that all of my previous weather apps (some were free one was not) was the ability to automatically update the weather on the widget app. You have to click on it and open the app in order for it to update. Same thing goes for the app on my Apple Watch. If you want to update the weather, you have to open it first. I also have never had to purchase an app and then purchase a monthly/yearly subscription in order to utilize the app to its full potential but now I know they’re out there and hopefully you do too. Side-note: The only thing you really get with the “free tier” is being able to have the AI talk to you when you open the app. If you’re not interested in the yearly or monthly subscription you’re better off using a different weather app and saving your money.

Close to Dark Sky. Closest thing to Dark Sky and it’s great. Side note: I know they are jokes, but some people won’t. If you’re going to put weather safety advice on the app, even if they’re jokes, make sure it’s actually accurate or you’re putting people in danger. For example, “To avoid lightning strikes, just hide under a tree #lifehacks” That’s just flat out dumb. And it’s actually not just wrong, it’s the complete opposite of what you should do in a lightening storm. Sheltering under a tree is just about the worst thing you can do. If lightning does hit the tree, there’s the chance that a “ground charge” will spread out from the tree in all directions. Being underneath a tree is the second leading cause of lightning casualties.

What’s the point?. As far as I can tell, the biggest “feature” of this app is that it’s snarky and/or insulting. If that was what I was interested in, then this would be a solid 4-star review, maybe 5. Other than that, the design is cute and creative, but it doesn’t actually give you any more (or even as much) information than any other app. I was drawn-in by the promise of multiple data sources, but the way it’s implemented is clunky and slow. My hope was to have a way to compare sources side-by-side, or even back-to-back, but no dice. I even paid for the premium subscription to see if there was something I was missing. Super potential turned into super fail - super sad. There is one thing they did well though: the rain graph. This seems to be the only app that realizes that the amount of rain is more important than the chance of rain. The way they display this is quite useful, though I think it might be even further improved by adding a line on the graph for percentage in addition to the text. My recommendation for the devs: spin-off the “where in the world” feature into its own game (it might be good enough to charge for!) and focus on the weather. Add some stuff that’s weather-related (like dew point, UV index, air quality, etc.). Keep or kill the snarky bot (it brings no real value), but figuring out a way to overlay or quick-compare sources would make a /really/ killer app.

Garbage. Got tired of the weather underground app complication not updating, and main screen inaccuracy on Apple Watch 4. So I got this app. This app is worse. Complications don’t update, main screen weather is inaccurate. It doesn’t even match the main app on the phone. However, if you have the watch main app open and then open the phone app, it will sync with the watch and they then will show the same, which is still inaccurate weather. Set up my weather station on PWS weather for this app to pick up. Weather is still inaccurate and doesn’t match my station’s weather by a long shot. If you want your weather app to respond to you with stupid comments then I guess this app is for you. If you want accurate weather and Apple Watch updates, move on. Update: Hmmm, Yes I have Tier 2 Premium supscription. I have uninstalled and installed phone and watch app several times, checked all settings and sync dozens of times. Reviews here and online show many with same/similar problem. I will not be sending "log" information to you. Should not be this convoluted.

Great developer. UPDATE: With new functionality and real time weather alerts, this hands down the absolute best weather app for iPhone. Is it worth the price? If you live in an area where severe T-Storms and tornadoes strike suddenly, the fully customizable real time weather alerts alone are well worth the cost of this service, those can literally be a life saver! The new BETA version also allows you to set up real-time weather alerts (rain, snow, T-Storm, hurricane, etc) on multiple cities beyond your current location. This has open for me the option of monitoring dangerous weather conditions for the city where my parents and my children live so I can keep them safe! If you are a weather geek, or simply want/need to be informed of changing weather conditions in real-time, this app is certainly the one for you!

The best weather app I’ve found by a long shot. I’ve spent so much time searching for a good weather app it’s unbelievable. The weather channel is littered with ads and is so slow. AccuWeather looks like it came out of 2006 and is also littered with ads. Even the premium versions of these apps lack polish. Dark sky is good, but the map is beyond glitchy and extremely frustrating to use. The built in weather app improved on iOS 15, but you still can’t see temperatures more than 24 hours out. Carrot weather has a fantastic user interface, smooth animations, a wide array of customizations, and shows all of the data you could ever need. Definitely worth paying for the premium version. I do wish the lightning strikes didn’t require paying for ultra, but I can live without them.

New update locks away previously available features behind a subscription paywall.. Updating my rating thanks to the developers providing a way to get the functionality back for users who had purchased the app when it was a paid app. Original review left below for context. Rather than releasing a new version of carrot weather in the App Store that was subscription based, Carrot instead decided to limit the functionality and feature set many of us already paid for and instead lock them behind a paid subscription model. Really don’t appreciate finding this out when my widget (a feature only recently added) tells me I need to pay for functionality that was available moments earlier. Back to stock Weather for the time being I guess.

BEWARE This app does not respect your notifications preferences.. BEWARE This app does not respect your notifications preferences. I have an iPhone 11, fully up-to-date and operating system. This app continues to send notifications to pop ups, even though notifications in my iPhone settings is turned off completely for this app, and the apps own notification settings are turned off completely. Update, one month later. There are so many problems with this app, it is hard to justify keeping it. Every few days, you wake up to a new problem with this app, or something that is doing, that you specifically did not want or authorize it to do. This morning for no reason, it started verbally announcing the weather, when I turn on my phone. This woke my wife up at 4 AM. Please note I specifically have do not disturb turned on in this app, 24 hours a day. I also have all notifications for this app turned off completely. Yet it still continues to do this crap.

What you need. Carrot weather does one thing and it does this one thing exceptionally well. It takes large amounts of data and puts it into and easy to read interface that is amusing, insightful, and thorough. The Carrot bot is hilarious, and the whole interface is easy to use. It offers much more data than the stock weather app for iPhones, and is a lot simpler than just about every single other weather app. I’ve loved this app and I’m so happy that I’ve finally found the “perfect weather app” that pairs well with my iPhone and Apple Watch. I know a lot of people will be torn that you have to pay extra for some features but for anyone that needs to know the weather for their job or just likes to be up to date on the weather, this is the app to get, and it is well worth the price.

Good weather app. This has been a fun app to use and at the same time it has become more valuable and impressive after trying out the premium ultra. The site radar data available is directly from the NWS and quite useful in the app with the different degree angles available to look into different elevations of a storm. Don’t know yet about alert notifications in regards to lightning as the purchase was recent. High resolution satellite imagery is in there, too. I do enjoy the customization and the different weather sources that can be compared along with other data available. Really like the daily geography challenges offered too as you’re not just staring at a forecast or data like other weather apps. Great stuff overall and the interaction with Carrot in AR mode can get interesting.

More entertaining than most games!. I had heard from a few friends that this was the best weather app out there. For some reason I thought that would mean “more accurate weather forecast” - in that respect, Carrot is about the same as any other source - but in fact they just meant this is THE BEST APP in terms of feature set, availability of data, ease of use, level of customization, and sheer entertainment value. This app is seriously hilarious, fun to play with, and ridiculously informative. This is also the only app I’ve seen so far that seems to have totally mastered notifications for critical weather events (flood watches, etc). I’ve spent more time in this weather app than I have in several of my latest mobile game downloads 🤣 Check it out. Well worth it IMO.

iPhone app is fine, watch app isn’t. I mainly got this app for the watch complication. Unfortunately, it has been my experience that the complication doesn’t update itself enough to be useful. For example, I’ll often find the complication insisting it is sunny out when it has actually been dark out for 6+ hours. I understand there is a premium membership subscription that would provide more frequent complication updates, but I feel like the basic complication should at least be usable. Displaying 6+ hour old information seems unacceptable to me. The Watch app itself is pretty good when it works. It can display a lot of information, which I appreciate. Unfortunately, I’ve found that it becomes completely unresponsive every so often, requiring a force quit. I also had a problem where it would crash on launch every time. Deleting and reinstalling the app fixed this problem. I have not had as many problems with the iPhone app. It’s laid out well, and I’ve found that the forecasts are usually pretty good for my area. I like that the AI can be customized, and the secret locations are a fun distraction. The achievements can also be fun (Except the ones that require you to purchase other apps.) Overall, I’m mostly disappointed with my purchase. I wanted a reliable weather app for my watch, but this was not it.

Cute, but pronunciation stinks, kind of a gimmick. Ok, so first things first, if you already have Dark Sky you can skip Carrot. Yeah, you get a bit more detail per hour in Carrot, but you seem to lose out on the geographic context. Dark Sky gives you messages like “Nearest precip is 27 miles to the West” so that you don’t have to look at the map. I haven’t seen that yet from Carrot, maybe it’s there, don’t know. Maybe the forecasts get better with the Premium upgrade (and FYI, if you do, it costs you even more to use it on your watch) so that you can use Weather Underground as a source, but I don’t know, I was about to give the upgrade a try when I found out that Carrot can’t has lousy pronunciation. Every time you open Carrot it gives you a snarky phrase. They’re canned, that’s ok because there seem to be a ton of them, but it’s really disappointing to hear that no one listened to them all before publishing the app. About 5% of the phrases I’ve heard have some sort of text-to-speech error in them. Part of the gimmick here is people around you hearing what Carrot says, and when you get one with an error, it’s just embarrassing. I’m going to keep Carrot around for a while but I’m not ready to spring for the subscription. I just don’t see the benefit as of now. Maybe if you gave a 3 day trial of the premium features or something like that. If they really are better, that could sell a lot of people.

feature request: a better rain widget. I love the customizability of this app - it lets me configure the iPhone Always On screen widgets with the exact weather info I want - in my case it's conditions, current and high/low temperature, rain, wind, sunrise/sunset time and humidity. I have a feature request: please add a rain widget for the iPhone Always On screen that is similar to the Rain complication in the Apple Watch Modular watch face. That complication simply shows one of two icons: either "It's going to rain" or "it's currently raining". It also shows the time (minutes or hours or days) until it's going to rain (if it's currently not raining) or the time when it's going to stop raining (if it's currently raining). It would be great to have this widget on the iPhone’s Always On display. Thank you.
