COAST 2 COAST (Part 1of2). I’m very excited I came across the app, I will be putting it to test after this upcoming week when my fiancé and I move from Melbourne, FL to Orange County, CA. I haven’t even left yet and this app has done some pretty amazing things for me. The main reason I added the app was to help with locating gas stations. Our first stop from Melbourne, FL will be in Houston, TX where my family resides, then from Houston off we’ll go to Tucson, AZ then Orange County, CA. While pin pointing some gas stations for our trip I was able to come across a really good hotel deal that I couldn’t say no to In my college hometown of Tucson, AZ (BearDown). I think this is a really great opportunity to test out this app on our coast to coast journey and see what all it has to offer, It’s starting off pretty solid so far. When I get to my final destination it will only be right to give an honest 2nd part review of our journey and how good or bad this app worked out.

So Much to Like, More Needed. I love quite a bit about Roadtrippers. We have taken several multi-week RV trips using Roadtrippers as a guide. My wife tends to plot the points of the entire trip. I load the trip on my phone, add a few gas stops and then load it into Apple Maps to get a route. We spent over 4 weeks on the road with this method. It’s not entirely intuitive to create this round-trip type plan, but it works fairly well. We’ve learned that you can add the points of interest to your itinerary, but should turn them off on your map or it will mess with your driving directions. When adding a point, it would be great if you could just say that it’s a waypoint for travel or just an interest point that you will visit while staying at a hotel or campground. The last note that makes it hard to give 5 stars is that it’s a bit of a mess on an iPad. Of course, I use the phone for routing travel, but I use the iPad for actually building and editing the route. It. Does. Not. Rotate. To. Landscape. This is incredibly strange to me. Overall, great app, worth using. History indicates that they will keep improving.

Great service, but too bad they started charging. The service used to be free, but went to a subscription, which I hate. If you only occasionally do short road trips, this is not at all worth the price. If you do long road trips often, with many stops, this is worth the cost. Although the app is easy to use, I recommend planning your trip on a web browser, then just using to app while on your drive (or for small tweaks). It’s great for deciding where to stop on long trips. You can really easily see how long each leg is, what points of interest are along your route, and it’s easy to move your route to include points of interest or stops that would normally be a bit off the normal route. The only issue I had is that you can’t see where you are on the map or points of interest without data service, but it looks like there is an offline mode that might fix that - I didn’t realize that at first and will have to try it.

Very Good App. This app was the primary method for planning my 2200+ mile road trip. Excellent for planning. It’s a little challenging to get started with, but once you get the hang of it, it’s serves as a really handy tool. The only feedback I have is to include more information on destinations. I end up bouncing from app to app to to drill down on a specific area for restaurant info or in my case, dog friendly parks and activities. Perhaps adding an attribute option to a profile stating you have a pet, and provide suggestions for friendly options around the planned destination. That option could apply with users with other special needs. I have this app on my iPhone and iPad. Logging in to plan and manage the trip from either device works great.

15 State Road Trip!. This app is fantastic! It helped me plan and experience one of the most incredible road trips and keep it a surprise for my older sister. We had a blast in the Fall of 2020 venturing through 15 states in the Northeastern United States. I used it for countless smaller road trips and got to see some gems that I would have driven by without ever knowing they existed, all because of this app. I love traveling and I highly recommend this app. Note: I am a Google Local Guide, Level 10, so I have plenty of experience working with maps and finding attractions. However, this app provides a very unique view of sights that may be worth seeing. It’s very intuitive and easy to get started. Once you download it, simply set your starting point and destination. You’ll get to choose what to add or remove from your trip from there. I’m about to renew my premium subscription, to plan a road trip through the Florida Keys ;0)

Very helpful. We travel A LOT and this has been our most used app for traveling. Also, I had to contact them with login problems on my account and their customer service and help was awesome. They got my account fixed and it works perfectly now. I use the paid version and you can plan your trips exactly as you want them, you can see them in list form or on a map. It tells you the estimated time of driving and miles between destinations and you can share with other users and plan together if needed. I highly recommend this app if you go on frequent road trips.

Wanderlust Medication. I make a point to take a good road trip every few months and through them all I’ve tried about every decent and not so decent travel app there is but this one takes the cake — at this point I don’t know what I would do without Roadtrippers. It’s taken me on 3 cross country drives, a couple 2k+ trips, and countless smaller journeys in between. Along the way, I’ve seen “world’s largest” this or that, wacky photo ops, public art installations, cool geographical features, ghost towns, scenic views, really a bit of everything! If you want to get from A to B as fast as possible, stick to a normal GPS. This is an app for adventurers and travelers, those with a lot, or even a little bit, of wanderlust in their system. If you want to get off route and see what this world has to offer, then this is the app for you.

Neat app!. We are RVers and enjoy finding quirky little things along the way. We only just learned of this app, but i can definitely see the advantages to using it. We do have our preferences though, and it can be a challenge to find specific places. For instance, we enjoy Dunkin’ in the morning. If we could specifically search for “Dunkin’” rather than “diner and breakfast” or “coffee and tea” along our route. We can look using other apps, but they don’t “search along our route”. We often have trips on our mind, we are likely to use this often. I’m tempted to subscribe rather than just the free app, but $30/year seems too steep.

It shouldn’t be this difficult!. First, it won’t put multiple destinations in the order I want. I even tried putting them in backwards order, with the final destination added first hoping it would push down each destination and put them in order. It only worked for some of them. THEN it won’t let me choose which route Example: If traveling from Bryce National Park to Yosemite, it wants me to go south, west, then north again instead of directly West. I assume it’s because the East entrance to Yosemite is closed this time of year (winter) so I added the travel dates. Still wouldn’t change routes. Google maps does this but if you change the dates in Google maps, the options will adjust. Lastly (& I haven’t even fully examined the app yet) it allows you to select what vehicle you’re driving so it can calculate fuel costs, however you can only select car OR RV. You can’t select a car pulling an RV which would greatly affect fuel usage. An hour later, I’m exhausted!

Wonderful. This is a fantastic tool to use for any roadtrip! It made the planning a 32 day journey much easier and we were able to catch some cool places that would not have been on my radar without it. Some hidden gems are not exactly where this app shows, but with a map or GPS they are easily located. We are now using it to plan our next family trip. Printing your map before you head out is the way to go. We were able to print off a copy for our friend/family so they knew where we were on our journey which kept to worried calls at bay and one for ourselves for when GPS/WiFi were not available. This app is worth every penny if you are taking any roadtrip.

Easy to use and fun to plan trips with Roadtrippers. I purchased the subscription so I could do more with the APP. Glad I did that because so many things come up on the map than before. We have used it to find hot springs along our route or changed our route to go to hot springs. We’ve also used it to find boondocking locations to camp. It has been great. The interface is easy to use to plan a trip and edit the trip as plans change. I wish that it would show more town names on the map because it is easy to get disoriented when they only show roads and not the names of towns. I would love it if it synched with my Garmin.

Well worth it. I used this app while traveling from New York to New Mexico and back. It gave me great destinations and provided some useful information about some places I had planned on going. One of those places I found a review telling me that this wasn’t a safe neighborhood, as a single female that was a valuable information I have. I found some great places to visit as well as follow up that were goldmines! Even when I decided to change around my trip a little bit, it was easy to just press and drag a Destination to a different spot on my list. Even have websites for many of the places was valuable to be able to look up times, that was the only problem that I found, were the times on the app or different than males on the websites. Love this app and will be using it again

Love this app! Have been using it since 2018. In 2018, I planned a cross-country road trip from Virginia to California and back. To make it more complicated we were going with another couple. This app allowed me to plan my destinations and easily share it with my friends so that they could add their ideas to it. After that, we talked over the phone and edited the route together. This app allows you to easily toggle stops along the way on and off so you can decide whether or not you want to go there, or easily re-route your stops by clicking on them and physically moving them like you can on an iPhone. I recently got a camper so I cannot wait to see how road pass works so that it will show me routes that will work for my camper.

Seems reasonable but overly challenging. Trying to to create an account with this app has been the struggle of a lifetime. I incorrectly missed a letter with my email, so it tried to send confirmation emails to a nonexistent email. There was no way to correct it. After half an hour, & a hundred confirmation emails, of trying to figure out a way to correct a simple mistake, I gave up. I was then able to set up an account with my real email, but when I downloaded the app, it assumed I was still trying to use the incorrect email. I then purchased the plus version of the app, & tried to access it on my desktop. I now cannot access the account because it says the password is incorrect, & there is no way to change it, because when I try to change the email, it says an error occurred. There is no winning in this hellscape. Who would make an app this confusing & frustrating? Every email to change the password forces you to receive another email confirming you would like to change the password, which then takes you to a Google page to actually change the password. This of course doesn’t matter because the app itself has no way of actually remembering that I changed the password. I now have two accounts because of the nonfunctional technology of the app, & neither accounts work the way they were intended. Every email sent to change a password The email expired after 24 hours, so

Double check information. The app is good for getting ideas of where and what to do, but be on guard for misinformation. I found two things in a matter of 5 minutes. One had Pismo Beach in Grass Valley, CA and the other had a place opening at 11:30pm and closing at 10:00 pm. Check a reliable map first if it doesn’t sound right and call for hours if they seem wrong or don’t make since. One other place (roller skating rink) was listed for being open only 2 hours a day. Seems like that wouldn’t even be worth opening or going to. By the time you got your skates on and warmed up it would almost be time to stop. Other then that I do like the ideas of places to go and to enjoy. Please Roadtrippers watch your typos and your information for the trips.

Subscription Required Now?!. I’ve used this app a handful of times when going on long road trips.. maybe two to three times a year. When it was free, it was awesome. I just logged in to plan a trip for my in-laws when they visit CA and drive up the coast.. but sadly found that the app now requires, not just a one-time payment, but a monthly or yearly subscription?! I get that developers need to make money, but this is a bit ridiculous. There is no reason to pay a yearly subscription if I’m only going to use it once or twice. Nor does it make sense to sign up for a month.. then remember to cancel.. then sign up again when I want to use it again.. then cancel. What a hassle. It also prevents me from helping friends and family plan out trips when they visit, because most would be hard pressed to buy an app let alone subscribe to one. I fully understand this is my opinion, and there are others that obviously love the app and (luckily) travel enough to find the new required cost negligible. While I enjoyed the app during trip planning (mind you, I still used google maps or Waze with addresses from Roadtrippers entered in), it’s not enough for me to subscribe when I can use google maps and a little bit of research to build my own map for free and have high quality and accurate navigation.

Didn’t meet my expectations. I recently use the road trippers app for a road trip on my motorcycle with a buddy of mine. Apparently it only brings up restaurants and hotels that pay to be on this app. We were in a town with restaurants and diners all around us and nothing was coming up on the app. If a road was closed and we had to reroute it put us on some roads that weren’t the best for motorcycles. There was periods for a mile or more to in Ohio where it couldn’t route us in the proper direction. It showed our location but no route to follow. Other areas it’s Ennis down roads that have been closed for years and we had to turn around and head back into a different direction and then wouldn’t reroute us. I’m feeling like the $30 for the app wasn’t well spent. The directions and the GPS worked pretty well for the most part but it seems I’ve could’ve gotten the same from Google Maps without spending a dime.

I Love This App!. I love to travel. During Covid, we couldn’t leave our state, so we decided to drive our state. I looked for an app that would map out a trip for us where we could see all kinds of things. I loved that this app would point out neat things to stop and see or places to eat along the way. We could rearrange our course if we needed to or delete something when we didn’t have time. I also loved that it gives you time and distance to every stop. So helpful in planning the complete route. We saw so many things he I had no idea we’re in Kentucky because of this app. Now, I don’t go anywhere that I don’t use it. I have trips planned for the next 5 years. It is worth every penny!

Totally inaccurate local info. I just downloaded the app and just searching around me it’s showing businesses so old that they were gone before I even moved to this city 10 years ago. How useful is an app that shows you local info if all that info is false? Update in response to developer: When I say that there are closed businesses being shown - I mean easily 2/3 of the businesses it’s showing are closed, and the info for ones that are still open are painfully outdated. I did submit about five changes through the app for businesses that are closed. Even if the businesses that were closed were updated, there are still tons of new business that do exist that aren’t there, or updates to existing businesses that aren’t there. If my local area is so completely inaccurate and out of date, then I have no faith that I’ll be able to find useful information in other parts of the country using this app - and I’m definitely not going to pay to find out.

Poor routing system. I try to use Roadtrippers to plan motorcycle rides and I don’t always want to use the shortest most efficient route after all it’s about the ride. There is no way to select what route you want to take other than plot through towns and most small towns the program does not recognize. It is extremely frustrating when you are trying to plan a route that a group is going to ride that covers hundreds even thousands of miles. The share feature is nice as it makes it easy to distribute the map, but when it doesn’t follow the proper route people get lost because they follow the line and not the written notes. I would be happy to improve my rating if the would allow me to drop pins or pick the route that I want to use between cities. Or even give me the ability to do both so I can drop pins for rally points on the map. These are just a couple of features that would make this software much better and more user friendly. Also expand the map search feature so that it picks everything up that’s on the map there are many small towns that you search for and it has no clue where they are, but it will pick up a town in another country by the same name.

After a few tries. It would b a lot easier if I could plan my own routes and then set the stop order my self instead of having to put it in, in the reverse order. I figured it out but wanted to schedule in a stop at a monument and it wouldn’t let me put it in the order of the trip. I needed it to be between to other stops and it kept moving to the top of the list. I would have given it five stars except of the monument and stop order issues. Husband loves it cuz he only saw the finished product not the two plus hours it took to type everything in and in the right order!! I do have to say I tried all the other travel itinerary or road trip apps and this is by far the best (once u figure it out)!!!

Great concept but not ready for prime time. I love the idea of the program and there are some great sources that can be tapped into. However, it is difficult to use and lacks the functionality that most programs have. The GPS isn't very precise so when you zoom in, it looks like your off in the wilderness; when in map mode it crashes frequently, both the website and app navigation is poor. When I started trip, there was a place to document the trip. I've spent hours on both app and website and can't find that page again. The website was difficult to use but app is worse. App and site are too static. App won't rotate so you have to always look at it in portrait mode. Also does show trip details and map like on website. On site, you can't scroll through trip details. Map zoom feature also doesn't work well. If they hire a new programmer and fix these issues and it would be a great app.

Not that usable for specific locations. After purchasing, I figured out that you cannot add your “home” or “work” or anything else as a saved place. A really basis need that every mapping app has… for a REASON! Waste of money. You also cannot add a start time, adjust your average speed to what is posted as the speed limit to Calc you route based on how you normally drive. I.e., on an interstate with a posted speed limit of 65 MPH, you normally drive 72 MPH. How does this affect your arrival time? This feature was available 20 years ago using the AAA mapping feature that was part of their website!!! So much for new technology. This app doesn’t give you much detailed information either when you generate a .pdf of your trip. Bottom line, keep searching. This one is garbage.

Good while it lasted. I’ve been using Roadtrippers for years and learned today that if I want continue using this app I’ll have to subscribe?? Like really. This must have happened within the past two months because I just used it in March or April to plan a long road trip with no restrictions. I used to love this app to find waypoints and points of interest on my cross country road trips, just to see what’s along the way or if there were interesting places close to the route. I liked the gas and distance feature. All good items for someone who loves to plan and map out logistics. I’m an intense trip planner, and use this app as a starting point to do further research on google and TripAdvisor. I’ve come to really love this app. And upon opening today any future trip I try to plan I can only have 5 waypoints. They say 7 but the starting and ending point of your trip each count. So in reality you only have “5” free waypoints. I usually have 10+. For a price of $30 a year this app isn’t worth it for the infrequency of the trips I take or even if I would be a more frequent traveler. And with everyone else wanting a subscription, I’ll just delete this because there are services like Google, and TripAdvisor I’ll just use now in the future. I loved having all of them, I’d pay $1-$3 a month to keep, but now your just a waste of space in my phone.

Nothing else compares to this app!!!. Roadtrippers was a necessity in planning our family’s road trip to Wyoming. We had planned to take our time and stop at many roadside attractions, points of interest and fun diners. I researched so many apps to create a road trip itinerary, and only this app will actually allow you to discover, schedule and plot your stops along a given route, as well as tell you how long it will take to get from each stop to the next. We planned to go from MN to WY, and we were able to create an itinerary along the way, with stops in MN, SD, MT and WY. After having no other luck in finding another app where we could create a scheduled itinerary, I gladly paid the upgrade and it was soooo worth the money. Can’t wait for our next road trip! Cannot recommend this app enough!

99% like, 1% I don’t. I’ve put a LOT of time into planning out future trips. Everything was great. It was my go to trip planner. But now I’m planning a six month trip and it’s limiting me to 150 waypoints. That’s not the way I roll. I need unlimited stops for a trip like this. Opening a new trip to continue isn’t cool...in fact, it’s super frustrating. So now I’m on the hunt for a new platform that will give me unlimited stops but that’s going to mean all my carefully planned out trips will be lost. So I’m feeling very stuck. I really think if we are paying $30 per year for the Plus subscription waypoints need to be unlimited. What gives, Roadtrippers???

Dissatisfied with “update”. This used to be a great app where you could find quirkier, more out-of-the-way type stops to plan a fun and interesting road trip. Plenty of stops and addresses could be added to make sure you weren’t missing things or taking too long of a route. Now they want you to pay $30 PER YEAR if you want to be able to add more than 5 stops (they say the limit on way points is 7, but then they include your starting and ending locations in those 7, effectively making it 5 stops). Definitely not worth that much, I’d be happy to pay $5/year or heck, maybe even $5/trip, but this is way too much for this type of app, even if it worked perfectly 100% of the time. This makes an easy decision to delete. Google maps is easy enough to use for free. PS they’re also selling your info (see reviews from last fall for more info, no sense in me restating the details)

Was good while it lasted. Been using this app for many years, traveling the USA, trying to cover all 50 states with my kids. It’s always been glitchy, when selecting categories it would ignore my selections and show items I didn’t want to see, the map has been inaccurate and has misguided us more than once, but all in all, it was okay, 4/5 stars. However... they just reduced the number of waypoints to 7 per trip in their free app, which to me rendered it useless; I see at least 20-30 things on each trip. They are charging $30/yr if I want to add more stops. Well, I’m not going to do that, there are plenty of other ways to find stops on our trips, without the glitchy performance. Hopefully the developers realize that it’s a bad idea and it’s not going to work. I’m guessing your loyal users are mass exiting! I used to recommend this to my friends and family but now... I’m out, and will tell everyone else I’ve talked to about it to move on. Shouldn’t have ruined it....

Useful tool for road tripping. Remember AAA trip-tiks? This is the iPad version. It’s a fine repository for stringing together the interesting places you hear about as you contemplate a trip. While there are recommendations within this app, it’s frankly a bit ambitious to try to duplicate the other resources of the internet. I can’t imagine looking here first for restaurants and breweries, or for getting a deal on a dog-friendly hotel. The reviews elsewhere are more current and more plentiful. Use Google Maps or Waze instead for live road closure and traffic notices. There seem to be the hooks for this to be the ultimate-everything tool, but it just can’t be with crowd-sourced alternatives. I’ll browse AllTrails for hikes, Atlas Obscura for oddities, scan the listing of National Parks and Historic Sites, and Google the places along the way. There are some good calls within here too, (such as the Largest Ball of Stamps in Lincoln, NE. Who knew?) Browse the example routes and you might pick an item here and there. Collect them and customize your trip to your taste. You have to subscribe to get more than ten stops in a tour. A one-time purchase would be friendlier. This did help make our 4600 mile jaunt a success, however. Try it for a year.

No longer free, not worth $30. As someone who can’t really afford frequent travel, I was very excited to have the opportunity to plan a long road trip I could actually go on this summer. I was prepared to break the trip up into two legs on the app as I was aware of the 60 waypoint limit, but commencing my travel plans today I’ve discovered I have been limited to 5 waypoints per trip (starting and ending each count as one stop in your new 7 waypoint limit). If I want more I will need to pay the $30 annual subscription fee. I understand that the app needs to make money, but $30 just to use the app for one trip is simply too much for me to reason. I used to love this app, used to even recommend it to people. While some of the waypoints have the wrong address or have been closed or simply aren’t listed etc it was still super easy to use the map just to figure out what kind of stops were along the way to your destination of choice. It’s always been glitchy, but it was a fun way to collect information (definitely never used it on an actual route, though, as gps was very off). Very disappointed that greed has taken over the company. I guess I’ll be heading over to google maps from now on.

Almost there. I love this app, it has a huge data base, visually appealing, and almost fully functional. I have the pro version but there are still a few things I’d like to see. It would be great if you could add a start time, so the trip is planned out exactly. Some aspects of my trip are time sensitive and it would be great if I didn’t need other apps to set a timed schedule. This is especially true when crossing time zones. Also, it would be awesome if there was a weather aspect. I had an entire 5 day, 60 hr, 15 stops, trip planned with the final check being the weather, and had to replan because of ice and snow. I road trip for leisure, so I need to make sure I make it to my hike, tour, candy shop before the sun sets or the venue closes. I know adding time and weather is no easy task, but it would make this app perfect and worth every penny and maybe even more. I road trip long distance often with several stops, and it would make my life so much easier, which is why I use an app and not just a planner.

Not paying up for what was free once. Was going to use this for my upcoming Portugal trip to help collaborate plans with a friend, but as it turns out, since the last time I used this app, many features have been extremely limited. I can only do less than half what I used to be able to do free. On my last trip- I had about 27 waypoints... and now you can only have 7? That’s really lame- that’s no ‘road trip’. Needless to say, I will be retiring this app- it’s not even a necessity anyways, just a used-to-be-helpful tool. I’ll use google maps and a list, thanks. And I’ve looked at other reviews and everyone else agrees that $30 for the simple luxury of tracking your stop points is completely rediculous. To the developers who are responding to those reviews and trying to list the ‘benefits’ of paying- all of that is useless. The only great thing about this app was keeping track of stop points and collaborating with friends. Now that both of those things are nonexistent. This app is garbage. Totally not worth anything. Used to love it, now I wonder what it’s even still here for? 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’ll be using the littler apps whose heads haven’t gotten too big for their users (and whose asking price isn’t completely rediculous and not worth what they think they’re worth). How is that response true? Taking functions away and making it more expensive is somehow helping it be more useful? Lol, no.

Good while it lasted. This app is begin gimped so they can push an $80 (now $29) a year pay service for it which is absolutely ridiculous. It serves some purpose still, but it's no longer my go to. I use trip advisor, atlas obscura, and TripCase. Not sure what they were thinking trying to charge a huge annual fee when most apps charge a low one time fee to unlock features. The upgrades are not worth the asking price, believe me. 60 more waypoints and a darker map option as it stands. Otherwise, locations missing and no way to add them. No way to 'easily' route a road like you might do on a, you know, road trip.... Route 66 or blue Ridge Parkway for example. They also do not respond to emails if you have feed back or issues. I used to love this app and might have paid a one time fee to support them, but $80 is laughable and annually! Hah! What seemed ok when it was free (or would have been with a reasonable charge) comes under more serious scrutiny and doesn't hold up. Thanks for dropping waypoints to 30! Done with this app.

Never have I ever.... Never have I ever felt it necessary to review an app, be it good or bad. However, this app is so incredible that I felt obligated to tell everyone. I've told all my friends to download it and I'm telling all you strangers to download it. It's SOOOO helpful. I did a road trip from CT to TN to TX to Nola to NC back to CT.. and I used it everyday for the entire trip. It offers so many things to do... everything from museums to abandoned houses that make for fun photo ops. If you're someone trying to take funny pictures of random side of the road things this is your app. The only thing I wish is that there was a way to like mark things off the list that you've completed. BUT.... it really added to the fun of the trip and the ease of the trip. Everything I needed was in this one app. It is trustworthy and never steered me wrong. Pun intended.... you can trust the "navigation" button and whatever address is provided. Just be sure to read the reviews of each location before going there. Just because it's on the app doesn't mean it's everything you're thinking it'll be, so read the reviews. If you're going on a road trip.. USE THIS APP. It will really add to your trip. Thank you for existing.

Overall disappointing – I won’t be subscribing. I have the same complaints as a lot of others. There’s no way to select a route rather than use the one the app picks for you, other than plotting intermediate waypoints, and even then, you’re at the mercy of the app’s algorithm. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a way to enter an address and label it yourself (this is important to me as there are places I’ve found in my own explorations of Google Maps and other sources that aren’t on the app). Finally, what, no category for gas stations? That seems to be an important omission for a ROAD TRIP PLANNING app! (Charging stations for electric cars would be a nice addition, too.) Overall, a nice idea and a good-looking and fairly intuitive interface, but needs A LOT more flexibility to make it worth a $30 subscription.

Recent change leaves bitter taste. Roadtrippers recently severely limited its usefulness by downgrading what users are able to do unless they upgrade. This means that the many trips I have saved are not editable because they contain too many stops, known as waypoints. Previously users were able to creat 60 waypoints. This is now limited to 7 unless one upgrades. Prior to this, the site and app has decent mapping options but there are several features lacking, like the ability to easily reverse a trip. I used this as a planning tool, mostly for trips that return to the origin, and sometimes it makes sense to change a route to go in reverse. Not easily done. One has to move every waypoint manually to achieve this. Also, the accuracy and limit of locations in their database limits the ability to plan trips. Sometimes whole roads are missing so a route can’t be mapped. These limitations with the addition of being forced to upgrade means Roadtrippers is no longer useful.

Great app, but painful subscription. I’ve been a long-time user of Roadtrippers. I love the app - it’s a hell of a service they provide. I recommend(ed) it to most people I know. But their move to a subscription plan (championed by Apple, as they push their developers to sell subscriptions rather than one-time purchase fees) is infuriating. The least Roadtrippers could have done was give a free year or two to current users like so many other apps have over the years (think Reddit’s purchase of Alien Blue), but all of a sudden I’m unable to access & edit my previous trips because they have “too many waypoints.” I don’t blame an app for trying to make money, especially not an app that provides a service this good. But a little courtesy to the users that have been loyal for years would’ve been nice.

There’s just no way I could take the trip I need to take cross country without Roadtrippers!. I am a new RVer making an ambitious cross country trip. Using Roadtrippers has allowed me to explore options, adjust and readjust my route, and get a handle on the mileage and gas costs and a lot more. The software is so easy to use on a laptop and then display on your mobile device. I’ve been able to make paper prints I can take with me in case I’m in situations where I don’t have a cell or Wi-Fi service and that’s worth everything to me as a solo driver. If you need to know where you’re going and estimate what it takes to do it, don’t hesitate to sign up for the full plus membership. It’s money well spent!

What we always wanted. This App is great in ever regard for road tripping ESPECIALLY off highways when wanting to avoid the masses. The fact that you can view through Waze!…,Even MORE amazing. Saves hours of searching for the “good stuff” you want to see on your road trip. My Gripes?? - only that I wish all the settings, all the selectable items and all the choices you can make - were under ONE Button - available from ANY page or map feature your on … instead of the several different places you can go to change things OR make selections.

If you are directionally challenged you cannot live without this app.. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this website and their app. I am completely directionally challenged; I learned all the states and where they are but honestly half the time I have no clue. To be able to put places in and move them around and sort them is amazing. To put a place in and then be able to find hotels right around it is amazing. To see what’s located near X or Y and have it on a map and a list that I can completely move around is amazing. Absolutel truth: I do not leave on a trip without putting everything on roadtrippers. This is one of the few websites that I happily and gladly pay for and it is worth EVERY DARN PENNY!

App is limited. I attempted to contact the developers, but it’s impossible to provide feedback to them directly because their form doesn’t display correctly in the app on the phone. There’s a field missing that must be checked in order to send messages, and you can’t get past it. It’s impossible. There’s no email listed for contacting anyone, and no phone number either. This guide provides great information when you’re on the road, but what about planning ahead? It would be great to see the route ahead of time to be able to choose routes and plan stops along the way prior to leaving. I thought that was what this app helped with. It is nice to have all the resources in one place, don’t get me wrong. But I’d like to see future trips to plan... set a trip between dates, and plan stops along the way. That’s all. Decent app for information and storing routes, otherwise, operability is limited. Capability and forward planning is limited. I would only recommend this once in the road.

Awesome Road Trip App. I've been using this app for the past couple months planning out a Chicago to Yellowstone road trip. It is very easy to use and very functional. I've found campsites all along the route to stay at and also have marked all of the stops we're going to make at national landmarks and interesting spots, from the biggest buffalo statue to the largest prairie dog colony in the US. I really like the Note feature, it allows me to make detailed entries for each stop along the way. A great app and it's free!! I wrote the above review last year but never submitted it. Since then I've used Roadtrippers to plan trips to Rocky Mountain NP, Pictured Rocks NL, and Banff NP, Great Smokey NP just to name a few. I won't be taking any future road trips without this app.

Terrible trip planning app.. I do not know where others are coming from, but I have been planning road trips, 2000+ mile rv trips, extended work travel, etc for many years using many planning tools. This is by far the most worthless tool I have ever used. It does an OK job of identifying points of interest (if they’re even located properly) but the app does not provide even the most basic of needed information. Such as trip leg distances, driving radius from last overnight stay, etc. for someone who like to set a max daily travel distance, or perhaps try to plan an arrival time in order to have time and energy to sight see or have a relaxing meal this is a must. To top things off, this planner nearly cost me an entire day, or worse by locating a hotel stop on my route map - that was no where near my route. They had the correct address but the wrong city! Had I just booked the room using the app and followed the route indicated, I would have arrived at someone’s home 100 miles from where my room reservation was booked and too late to avoid a cancellation fee. No, I cannot recommend this app as a trip planning tool. It has clearly been created by folks that have never planned a trip.

Not 100% intuitive, but once you get the hang of it.... It took me a while poking around all the icons and symbols on the app to actually create my first trip, but once I got the hang of it, I found it was exactly what I hoped for. I wanted a mapping program which clearly showed distances and drive times. It is easy to edit ( and once I read other reviews, I found how to move stops to other positions in the lineup - it just takes a firm press. Then shift it to the proper place). The tool where you can find local attractions, restaurants, hotels and campgrounds is WONDERFUL ! Again, that was tricky to figure out, (go to the map view, zoom in to the stop you are researching, then tap in the search bar on the top of the screen. A window will pop up where you can choose which category of attraction you are searching for. “X” what you want, go back to the map and you’ll be able to scroll thru the choices close to your stop. We haven’t taken our trip yet so I haven’t tried the navigation feature, but I figure I have several other online options on that tool once we hit the road. So far so good! Thank you Roadtrippers!

Love the roadtrippers app. I’m planning a 9 day cross country trip from Washington state to Florida. I was trying at first to plan our trip on my own using different maps online trying to calculate how long it would take from place to place and then looking up each state to see what cool things we could see. With the hopes we wouldn’t miss anything. After waisting a lot of time and paper I came across this web sight. Which made my trip planing a breeze even figuring out where we would stay along the way. The trip I at one time was dreading I now can’t wait to take. After using the free version on roadtrippers, and finding just how useful it was I did decide to up grade to plus. I am so glad I did all the features are well worth it. Roadtrippers works great on both a computer and through an app on your phone. Also the Nav setting works with whatever system you regularly use. I use Waze and it’s attached. I just can’t say enough good things. If you have a trip coming up this is the app to use.

Doing trips with them for years. Very nice app, i do roadtrips every other month… been doing with a free app for a long time it was great ,so I payed and guess what…. Money well spend . Big base of stops and i use quite a few of those. only thing is the map is not always find places i want to visit and its gets a bit time consuming … but I can’t imagine doing a week or two roads plan trip without them . Did Canada trip, Virginia ,Vermont, PA, NJ,NY,Vegas,Utah (was one of the best) and a lot more so far i am around mid double digits on amount of trips ….. Absolutely Love it . actually planing a week long trip to Oregon right now ! On my opinion this as an app that’s an absolutely must have for a successful planning !

Solid start but a ways to go.. Moving from RV Trip wizard since they only really support campgrounds since are now staying in Hotels/resorts there are some notable gaps. 1. Date mgmt. Typically we plan around getting the hardest places booked and work around those for places to stay and things to do. This app only supports arrival day, not multiple day stays and doesn’t help by showing gaps in the calendar so you have to manage the calendar separately. 2. Most information has to kept in the waypoint free text note field (eg confirmation info, how long to leave for a POI, how many days you are staying, etc) which has two problems. 2.a you cant really get a detailed route/itinerary since its all in text. Route planner shows the day of arrival but not in printed route. 2.b the collaboration idea is cool, but this text field is not shared with collaborators so you have to distribute/discuss sep. 3. No driving radius or ability to set how far you want to drive in a day. Not sure how travel time is specifically calculated and you can’t adjust for those of us that prefer to get there fast so you have to do your own calcs. Seems very conservative. The map UI and POI integration are pretty cool. Have done a reasonable job with places to stay but some smaller B&B places have to be added via their address vs name search. If you are driving a normal vehicle I haven’t found anything better so hopefully some of these other gaps get closed.

Just not doing it for me. I am a seasoned traveler on an extended road trip, so naturally when planning for my trip I looked for apps that would help me find what I needed as well as interesting places. I have put hours in to this app, I really tried (over and over) to make it work, but today I finally gave up. For rest stops, truck stops and other amenities I may need when traveling on the highways I have found several apps that provide me with much better information. For planning my overall trip, especially estimating how far I can get each day and where to look for campsites, I found an online app that does that perfectly. For places to see and things to do I have found, again, several apps that do a much better job. So, with all of that I am left wondering how this app/service has so many good reviews. Oh, and none of the other apps, sites or services spam me.

I want my money back. I paid for the premium version expecting to have navigation just to discover that is lacking the most basic feature - connecting with my car console (apple carplay). When many cars in the market have already this on dashboard screens and you get used to see apple maps, google maps or waze, and you have the essentials like podcasts musics and even whatsap and zoom - this app has no carplay functionality. What do they expect? That users that already have normal functionality in their cars go years back and start installing all kind of cellphones holders so you can use the navigation functionality?! The minimum you can do, if you are not able to incorporate this basic functionality that is standard in most map and navigation apps, is to allow exporting the itinerary to other navigation apps. But no. that is not available either. I WISH I COULD GET MY MONEY BACK. THIS IS WORTHLESS!!!’

Excellent app for planning and exploring with a loose itinerary. This is the third time I have used it to go on a long Road-trips. Each time it has gotten better. I love it but it could use some improvements. I would like to search a theme to put the trip together. Civil War, revolutionary war trip I found myself looking on different websites for more information. Lots of times the things I was looking for were not on the app. I would also like to have the app track where I have been based on my photo’s location. The navigation part only lets the map stay in portrait. So I used another app to navigate. I did like how the app allowed me to get to the places I wanted to go and I really liked how it gave correct information for the places I was going when I found them. I would give it 9 out of 10 it has help me plan despite what it doesn’t have. Also there is nothing like it that is better! Thank you Roadtrippers!!

A trip planner that can’t search for cities. Got the Plus version... trying to do trip planning in Australia and this app does not show cities in the search results... search for Canberra, it’s only the capital of Australia... but it does not warrant being shown in the search... makes it pretty ordinary as a “Trip Planner”...

Awesome. Works really well and intuitive to use. Only missing a star because you can't share a map easily at this stage and someone else can't work on the map as a shared project. Once those features are added I will give it 5 star.

Missing locations. There are places not available on the app and not option to add them in manually

Rubbish. Not a usable app in Australia. Can only find current location but can’t find a town as large as Eden in NSW. Every search shows USA places.

Use it.. I don’t normally do this but this app is amazing. If you want to get the most from you holidays or trips on the weekends or annual leave then get this and use it. You will be very happy you did.

Trip Planning Excellence. Pretty simple. A great app that lets you plan your road holiday. Lots of links to local attractions. Mapping/trip editing features good.

Keeps changing dates. Would be a reasonable app, but has a bad flaw that it changes dates on a whim. I've entered my itinerary and specifically selected each date I am arriving at a location. When I go back to review, all the dates get shifted by a day. Very frustrating as it means the app cannot be trusted when accurately planning the trip. Also, it should detect if a date is wrong- ie if my itinerary has going from a to b to c, it should not allow the date at c to be earlier than the date for b. But it does.

Simple to use. Just started playing around with the app to see if it is worth using. Have mapped a road trip to the USA... Started on the main website but actually found the app much easier to use on my iPad. Will definitely try the other functions as well. Also just mapped a simple four stop trip in Japan to see if it would work and it was so easy! Mind you its all in Japanese - lol

Great app for planning. Loving this! Makes it easy to plan where to stop on a long trip (especially like the ability to say how far off route I want to go). The only thing missing is landscape mode on the iPad.

MargnTerry. I am planning a pretty big trip from Dallas & across to the east coast of USA. This app is really helping with the planning & itinerary! We are hiring an RV, so the camping ground addition is very helpful! As well as the different off the beaten track information is amazing. Thanks Road Trippers great app for tavellers of this great country.

Broken after update. Will not allow me to update trips or add new locations

Helpful. Easy to use. Good info. Thank you. Will look forward to trying it overseas

Very sad - was great before the update. Constant errors in the new Road Plus - received many email notes blaming someone else for the mapping problems - this COULD be so good but...

Fabulous app. Super awesome for road trip! Surprisingly not so many users! The best function is that it enables to explore the nearby spots and add to the list and allow export to pdf.

Loving it!. Free, user friendly, well laid out. Has everything you need. Buy ‘Plus’ for annual fee.

Awesome. Use it.. This is an amazing app. Couldn't recommend more highly.

Waypoint limit too low since update.. Free version is now next to useless with only 5 waypoints. That is not nearly enough for a road trip of anything more than a day. Old version was great.

Too hard to use on iPad. I like using this on the computer but on my iPad it's annoying. Trying to change order of destinations is impossible and when you first add in destinations, it places them in some strange order so that they have to be rearranged. Fix these things and I will like it better.

Not helpful. This is the first App I have regretted purchasing. This App is not user friendly for multiple day trips.... you should be able to analyse segments of a complex road trip. Also I am using this from Australia and the conte t is very poor. No reviews of restaurants, hotels, etc. you are better off with Google Maps and Trip Advisor. Also, when I purchased the app it appeared that the only option was a 1 year subscription, but when managing my subscriptions in iTunes there is a monthly option. So I am out $50 when I could have tested it for a month at something like $10. Not happy.

Don’t download if you’re Aussie. Completely pointless for anything outside of wherever they developed this not even small towns which have large populations are listed even places on google maps are not on this app, pointless

Worst dev team. Delete this review as well to prove my point. Give them feedback, they do not simply ignored it, they delete it. I guess asking for a switch is an offence...

Great travel planner. Easy to use and lots options to select from. Needs a budget option to add approximate and actual costs next to selections

A solid app. Intuitive, easy to use and graphically sweet. Seems to have a little trouble searching and adding specific street addresses. And watch those landmarks as destinations, they throw the route off if not actually on a road...

Very limited in Australia.. Most outback towns and even larger cities in NSW and I assume other states can’t be selected. Not really usable in Australia for a road trip, unless you are tripping between the few main cities provided.

Great for OS travel. Have used this app twice now for lengthy driving holidays OS. Really helpful, user-friendly format and like that it can shared

Handy app. Loving this app. It does all the calculation of approximate travel times, kms and fuel $$ and all I have to do is put in each road trip destination stop. Helps even more when you've never been to that country before either. Sweet!

Still no landscape mode. While great for planning, it still offers no landscape mode on iPad or iPhone when reviewing and exploring the map.

Use a better mapping service. The app targets itself for road tripping but doesn’t contain most of the popular destinations in Australia. Needs to use a reputable mapping service, especially if it’s charging for a premium model. Only use this app if you want a basic route set up, don’t use it to plan your road trip, otherwise you’ll probably miss most of what’s around you!

Great so far. I have download this app and using it for the first time. Easy to use and looks very helpful so far

Great app with room for improvement. I love going on holidays and have been using this trip to plan them since 2013. It’d be great if the App could be updated with a landscape view and the ability to split screen on iPad. It would also be good if I could plot a flight/ferry between destinations so the distance isn’t added to the total.

Great if u have full mobile service otherwise...... Even with downloading all wa maps for offline, it is absolutely useless without internet connection. Even when full internet service available it gets stuck on last location and can’t identify you have driven 200km

Useless. Couldnt make head nor tails ofd this one Kept using my current Australia location when I was planning a USA trip. Soo frustrating

Great for road trip. Used in USA. Used to travel across USA found it very helpful was able to search and add and remove stops. Able to start planning months beforehand.

Feature Removed!. Can no longer find service stations for fuel along my route.

60 second eval. After selecting a starting point, and searching for the next point, the suggestions are not location dependent, instead of looking up something sensible like location names which are physically closer it is alphabetical. It would take way too long to use this app for a planner, a spreadsheet is better.

Not bad but could be better. It’s cool to be able to map a trip. But is seems a needless duplication to date and also to manually sort entries. Entries should can be sorted by date and time. Trips are made up of geocoded entires linked to addresses as well as non geocoded notes and place holders and reminders. This stuff is easy to incorporate and important. Overall a good app but some low hanging fruit is still on the tree.

Overall Pretty Great. Great app. Handy for on the go. Only problem I have with it is that you can't add more than sixty stops to a trip (was really excited when it went up from forty though), and some minor bugs. The team often work hard and well to remove bugs, and overall improve the app.

Need it. Love it!. So easy to use! Has proven to be so helpful while planning my next holiday. Will keep using it in the future.

Awesome Travel App. Used on trips to Nashville & New Orleans recently. Really cool but just needs more reviews. Still have to check Tripadvisor often.

Great but More instructions please. Looks great but I need some instructions about how to search and save. Maybe I am missing something but it is not quite intuitive enough for me. I will keep searching for How.

Legendary =). Provides relative organization to my spontaneous road trips! Great way to store hidden bucket list worthy gems until you find a spare day/week/month to hit the road 👌🏽

The best roadtrip planner !. Absolutely love this app! I couldn't have planned our San Fran to NYC roadtrip without it. Unlike many others, we're not driving in a straight line through the middle of the country - we're driving mostly through the south & taking our time. This app is the best for letting you know where to stop, what sightseeing to do nearby & how long each leg takes to drive. The only thing I can't see is if it updates the length/route of the drive according to road closures etc (eg. Big Sur landslide detour). Other than that, this app is fantastic thank you so much!

Not hoot yet. Won’t sort trip to itinerary order on phone Needs proper rewrite! Don’t buy premium It does not work!!

So easy. It’s so easy to navigate and to plan a simple or precise trip. If local some of the places I never new about or a more distant trip it’s a great app

Best travel app. I would have paid money for this app. It is by far the greatest travel app I've used. Planned my US roadtrip. Found some fantastic things to do enroute!! Thanks guys!!

Great way to plan. I haven't started the journey yet but find this app a fantastic way to plan ! It has really opened up the options for our US road trip. Very easy to use and even tells you how much fuel will cost based on your route.

Not bad. Easy to use but not enough info on sites etc. Need to be able to print route, names of towns where you want to stop. I’ll keep checking it’s development but not yet worth $42 per year usage fee.

Great App !. Been great planning a road trip of the USA. With best routes, attractions accompanied by how long each stop should take (distance and time)

Love this app. One of the best travel guides that you can find.. Plus the app updates news is probably the highlights of the application. Do yourself a favour and get this application

I Hate Emails. I Hate Emails.....unlike some people, I read every email I receive....Roadtrippers seemed like a good app until it sent me 3 emails in 3 days since I clicked on the “unsubscribe” link. So I now hate Roadtrippers and I am looking forward to deleting the app which will happen very soon!

Towns?. How do you tons and cities on map?

Awsome app.. Very helpful we use it and Never got lost again

Not Good for Canada. No Banff, AB or Golden, BC!

First timer. Hard to navigate when first starting out.

Roadtrippers fan. Great app, & design

Lots of Potential…. A really good app that can only get better.

Great app so far. Just purchased a subscription for an up coming summer RoadTrip. Right now I’m using the app to plan the trip. Loving the features so far! Looking forward to using it on the trip.

Really bad. Don’t waste your money, this app doesn’t accept GPS coordinates. It also doesn’t find a lot of small places like Nugget City, Yukon as an exemple when other app like Road Trip Planner find it and it cost only $8.49 life time compare to Roadtrippers at $38.99/year.

No buy. Just downloaded the free app wanting a road trip to Paris ON Canada. The app didn’t locate it. I’ll pass the paid version.

Loved it, until only 7 trip stops!. Used to love this app, now it’s $38 a year if you want more than 7 stops on your trip. What a waste... will no longer use.

Disappointed. Poor functionality in Canada. Doesn’t recognize many cities or towns.

RMNP. I cannot find the trails!

Not Canada Friendly. Searching for cities and/or towns in Canada? Nope. Only US place names come up in search. Deleted the app is quickly as I downloaded it.

Poor. This is a poor app you can only add 5 stops to your trip, so if your planning a long road trip they want you to buy the full version of the app for $39

Trip of a lifetime. We used this app to take a 15,000km trip around Canada & USA. I doubt we would have been able to see all we were able to see if not for this app. Heading off to do a 12k km trip around the Gulf with the help of this app! Thank you

Pas plus que 7 points possible sur la map.. Très décevant de perdre son temps à débuter un trajet pour que après 7 points on t’avise que tu ne peux en rajouter dans payer 10$/mois ou 40$/ans

Ok. Good, app for planning a trip through the USA but lacking for Canada.

Price to renew on app vs using the program on your computer????. Why is there at 20. Difference?

Super helpful. As a planner, this app is a dream. Plus their support replies so quickly with such detail! Thanks for helping us plan our trips so easily.

It is a mystery. I am facing to understand what I do with this program. I make a trip, return later, and it is gone.

They want $$$. Can’t do more than 7 locations without paying. Their argument is that 7 locations is enough for most trips, but I’ve planned countless trips on this app and never created a single trip on here that used 7 or less locations. Basically they sold out on their original vision to try to get more money. With the million things I already pay, a travel app is not going to be another one. Sad, because I loved it otherwise. CHANGE IT BACK and you’ll get me back.

Not intuitive, used to be good. Not enough menus for populating a route with specific interests…

unusable. if i can’t to see how/why the places have stars and can’t to see others comments before to pay, why to try it?? sorry for my 1 star..

Not great for Canada trips. Tried to create a simple trip in western Canada but the app search failed to find locations, instead bringing up USA locations. Frustrated so deleted the app.

Truly frustrating. I got this app years back and have used it multiple times but today I went to create a trip and it limits your way points until you subscribe. $38/year is way too much for a subscription to this. They totally need to rethink what they are charging. A one time purchase fee might be worth it it not this subscription BS...bye Roadtrippers

Gas Stations??. Love this app, but is there any way to get gas stations to show up on my route?

Needs updating. This app would be more useful if it was up to date. Several of the restaurants it has listed for my hometown haven’t existed for years and none of the more recently opened restaurants (within the last two years) appear.

Great trip app. I’ve found that this app helped me plan routes for our car club

Awesome. Super helpful. Easy to use! Love it!

Lacking in Canadian Loactions and Accuracy. Trying to plan a road trip in British Columbia but the app fails to have accurate details and locations. Hopefully soon it will expand to include more locations with proper information.

Faulty app. Just downloaded it. Tried starting a new trip and it presents eight or ten icons of choices (Things to do, sights to see etc). But if you pick one, the rest disappear and a inch of words appear on top of each other! Very amateurish. Not impressed.

Locked up all my old trips. Loved this app, used it for years then they decided to lock down the amount of “free way points” you could have on a trip. Ok fine, we adjusted. Now all our old trips we had kept for memories are locked down so we can’t even look at them anymore without paying. Trash

Disappointed. Based on the app ratings I expected MUCH more than this. Maybe it’s because I’m in Canada, but the lack of waypoints (cities, hotels, points of interest etc.) is astounding. I’m planning a simple road trip from Toronto to PEI and Nova Scotia and can’t add a simple waypoint for the most of the towns I’ll be passing through. Want to bump a few of your waypoints ahead by a day or two because you’ve added some stops along the way? Sorry…can’t do that. Want to change the name of a waypoint to better reflect exactly where you’re going? Sorry…can’t do that. Worst of all..want to add a custom waypoint (because the included waypoints are sadly lacking)? Sorry…can’t do that. Pretty useless. Sorry I wasted my money.

US only. This app is useless if you aren’t in the US. I was trying to use the app to travel within Canada, and the app would not locate Canadian towns. Waste of time. I’m deleting this app now.

Not really Canada Ready.... I travel Canada extensively and not just within city limits. I just downloaded to see what the app had to offer and so far I found its very outdated. I looked at a few places I’ve traveled that have established attractions and hotels and they are not even listed as an option. On another note, great framework and with the right marketing and updates it could be a great go to app for travelers. Keep up the hard work.

App looks promising. Not sure why new destinations are randomly placed into the middle. They should default to end of trip or some logic between obvious looped destinations. “Kilometres per litre” should be litres/100km. Ability to actually input gas price would be nice too.

Great travelling app. It’s a great travelling app on your mobile device but for some reason it’s slow as molasses on the PC. Has millions of points of interests and things to do in the USA but could use a LOT more Canadian content seeing as we have some of the best provincial and federal parks in the world.

Change route. I am having a problem changing the route I wish to take

No horizontal view on iPad.. I’m just planning my first trip but was surprised I can’t use the landscape mode on my iPad. I like the ability to modify trip routes easily. I wish it was linked into google maps better for all the reviews of things, it’s not so that’s a lot of back and forth to get the real goods.

Excellent. Facile d’utilisation et service à la clientèle horspairs lorsque nous avons des questions.

Ok app, limited functionality and needs a lot of updating. This app hasn’t changed much over the years, and it’s getting further and further behind. A lot of destinations can’t be found, you can’t add them yourself, the app is limited when you want to see distances between points in the app when previewing your route - but on a computer you can. Even though a web browser will let you see the distances between points on your route, if you’re on a mobile device you can’t use your web browser to view your trips because it insists you use the app only. All in all it’s relatively limited in functionality and restrictive, but as a basic mapping tool it’s just “ok”.

Horra_app. Horra awful app!

Version update. Well looks like I Can’t use Roadtrippers anymore, won’t load on my iPad and won’t let me use the older version

It used to be great. I’ve been using and recommending this app for years but after they created the subscription, It became pretty hard (annoying) to use. You can’t see more than one category in the map (like attractions and outdoors) so you gotta keep changing categories. Also, it’s doesn’t show rest atos anymore. I understand you gotta make money and I would pay the monthly price for the road trip usage but the app doesn’t show that option, it just shows annual? I’m not gonna pay $40/year when I have one road trip to use. $19 is fair but not $40!

Not free. Upgrade is inevitable

brutal. downloaded this for a roadtrip from toronto to tampa. it couldn’t find the first two hotels i’m staying at booked thru trip advisor- ‘destination not found’ so i had to copy / paste the hotels addresses? lol how is this even possible. garbage. deleted.

Outdated Info. Downloaded, checked out restaurants in my area - Holly Outdated Info Batman ! Bye bye.

Canadian Atlantic trip. App keeps pointing to US destinations and attractions. Not a very good app for Canadians. Wish I hadn’t bought it

Impossible to end your subscription. Awful and no assistance possible. Had to call my bank to stop payments. Might as well be scam artists.

Costly. Unfortunately I downloaded this as an Apple recommendation and then as I added the sixth stop ( back home) I ran out of free waypoints. It’s too bad cause looks like a potentially great app but I will delete it before I ever use it. 30.00 ???

24 Day Road-trip. Traveled from Northern California through the lower part of the US to Washington DC then back to California going across the upper US. Used Roadtrippers for the entire route, found great places along the way to side trip to and explore! I have used several different similar apps and this is by far the best one! Have used it several more times since and have recommended it to several friends as well and have heard nothing but positive feedback.

Not user friendly—input over and over again!. I’ve read the “instructions “ on this App and Website several times. It appears you are either born able to put in a route or not. Evidently I was born without this ability. No matter how many times I ask for the second or more destinations to add to the map NOTHING happens. I joined when this App first came up last year but have not been able to do anything with it. You can list places along your route but only to look at, not to build a comprehensive plan like we used to do with “Streets and Trips” before Microsoft discontinued it. I’m working on it again today and if after reading some more reviews and comments if I still don’t get anyplace I need to request a refund!!

Finally, an App that full of data and works perfect!. This application is amazing. Full of data (destinations, gas stations, camping sited, RV campgrounds and a lot more) and the website and mobile apps works amazing!!! Great job guys. I’ve been more than 20 years in the e-commerce business and I know by heart how much it takes to achieve something like this. My 10 day RV roadtrip with my family have been so smooth and stress free thanks to you guys. Took advantage of the time to the max snd found all places we wanted to visit. Thanks Roadtrippers!!!

My Mistake Compels Me To Warn You. I should not have bought this app. I’ve never reviewed an app that I’ve purchased because they’ve all been worth the purchase price in some way, eventually. This app goes above and beyond in the underachieving and over-sold category. What it does? Is find you waypoints. What it does *not* do in its current version? Navigate you along the whole trip. It will get you from one point to the next. Then you pull over and tell it to take you to the next point. It’s dangerous to try to watch your little green dot on the screen to try to navigate yourself while driving, and it will literally not take you along the entire trip without interventions the entire time (and won’t do it without interfacing with another app FOR navigation like Apple map, Google or Waze). Save your money, your marriage (my spouse is furious that I spent money on this) and your time (we spent hours trying to make this work, puking over every turn in a city this weekend, resetting the trip) and just don’t purchase it in the first place.

Roadtrippers. Great application I've been using off and on since 2014. Improvements been made and it's better. Things I like are * being able to create a point to point trip * sharing trip with friends * finding places along the route that are interesting like parks, museums, attractions, eating establishments, hotels/motels, bed n breakfast, camping, wineries, etc * I can add pix, write reviews * map of my trip and itinerary * just a great little app for creating a trip with all the details Needs improvement * Still needs ability to change a review. I'm looking for that now. (This is fixed) * the map isn't always showing after I click on it for the trip. (Much better now) * would be nice to select the pix for trip I create a round trip and I think this app is not geared for a round trip. I went from home to Laramie Wyoming and back home using a little different route on way back. I will continue using app.

Awesome. I was working on a road trip from Cincinnati to Flagstaff and was trying to find some interesting stops along the way. Started browsing the Internet and came across this app called Roadtrippers. I must say this app is amazing. There is a light version but I decided to upgrade to the plus because you can add more stops to it. The app is very user-friendly and you can alter the route very easily. Highly recommended if you’re taking a trip and want to be able to find some interesting places along the way. Mike Shout, Ohio

Mixed, but promising!. First, the bad: I lost internet connection while using and was suddenly unable to access my maps, nor only making the app useless, but leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere! One of the items on my list also was on a blocked road, so I spent 2 miles hiking back to my car. Not useful. But! Where this app does well is it’s curated content and thoughtful reviews. It connected me to my favorite hiking yet in Ohio, so big win. Hopefully the next update will allow better updates map data, including offline maps. If I see this, I’d be interested in a paid version for sure.

Really enjoy this app for all my trips. This is a great app for any trip. It consolidates many apps into one, and takes away the need for googling everything. There are so many great functions in the app that make planning your trip so easy... it's just a little glitchy. On the computer and the phone, With wifi from multiple sources, it sometimes takes a long time for the maps to load or be able to zoom etc. When on the trip, I noticed the app loaded my position better than my phones direction app. I'd recommend this to any one traveling.

Deleting due to security concerns. In April 2020, Apple changed their Apple ID login requirements and allowed users to block personal data from app providers. One exception is if your app has a third party login requirement to access your app. Basically, by changing their apps so you have to login to road pass to access Roadtrippers, you now have to provide your personal information to them directly instead of them being forced to identify you through your Apple ID. I view this new requirement as a way to circumvent apples protection of its users data and force you to give your personal information. Not cool Roadtrippers, not cool.

Feeling disappointed. I wish I could give Roadtrippers more stars because I love it! I use it several times a year. I’ve added a lot of reviews and photos on places that didn’t have anything. However, I’m really disappointed that they have changed the number of “waypoints” or places that you can add to trips without paying $30 a year for premium. It makes sense, but it is way too much. Still their app is the best for planning a road trip with multiple points and finding obscure places to visit on the way. Now the free version is basically unusable for road trips. Hopefully this price point will change, because I will not pay for it as is.

Worth every Penney. So anyone who doesn’t see the value in this obviously doesn’t travel much. I use it constantly. You do have to know how to use it by increasing distance and putting in search options like RV parks or things to do. It is not perfect. I sometimes refer to park advisor to verify parks at a particular location, or to check reviews. It’s so much better than the other large and overhyped RV trip planner app. It’s also, not just for RV’s, but great for road trips or trips in general.

Trip during COVID-19. Wow! This app is amazing. We traveled from CA to KY on the 70 last week of May 2020 and saw some cool things because of this app. On our way back during the last week of June 2020, we drove back on the 40/Route 66 and have amazing pictures from stops found in this app. We have received so many compliments from family and friends. They enjoyed seeing our experiences brought social media. We would of missed many cool picture spots without this app. Highly recommend this app! ❤️❤️❤️

Great for planning a road trip. Roadtrippers has been very helpful to plan our RV trip. You can easily see mileage and time between stops. I liked being able to put in several stops, and experiment with turning them on and off and try out various distance and route options. The developer responded quickly to add a new hotel that was missing. Minor annoyances: I’d like to add a name to an address, and collaborators can’t see or edit the notes field.

I don’t take a trip without it.... Whether you are somewhere for work or play or just making the plan to get there, what to see while your there & where to stay, this app is invaluable. If you need to find interesting & fun stops along the way of a long drive or plan an epic road trip this app shows you everything along the way & you can filter what categories you are interested in. Plus you hear about something on a podcast, etc. you can favorite it so you can see it later on. Write & read reviews. Overall just a superstar app!

Used many apps for Road Trips this is #1 BY FAR. I’m telling you this one is great!! Worth the $$$!! I used tons of them and also free ones, and this one is THE BEST and I wish I would’ve found it sooner! It is user friendly, it finds all the locations, so you don’t have to navigate city to city, you can actually put your campground or hotel and it will find it and route right to it. It works offline, it also has weather, and live traffic! Amazing!

Promising app,but..... So I’ll start with the positive! For the most part this is a great app to plan a trip - unlimited stops and a great way to visualize your route. However, there are a lot of things that need to be improved. Since users can put in locations, there are a lot of inconsistencies with where actual places are, so it means having to cross-check with an actual map to make sure you’re not going on the wrong direction. Locations are inputted, with no information and no pictures, which again, means a lot of going back and forth between this and Google to see if things are worth going to etc. There is also no up-keep on this thing. I’ve bookmarked places only to find out they’ve been closed for a few years...why are they still on this app???? I think it has a lot of potential and I’ll continue to use it, but don’t rely on it for 100% accurate information - be prepared to put in a lot of extra leg work to verify your route and stops!

Great app!!!!. Went on a road trip this weekend and this app was perfect!!! Even if it couldn't find some of our stops by name, it found them all by address and you could add the name in notes. It was so easy to add new stops in as we went or rearrange the order they were in as things changed. Uses Maps for navigation, which I was able to display on the touch screen in my vehicle through Apple Car Play, which was fantastic!! Would definitely recommend this app to anyone!!! I will never take another road trip without it!!

Helpful tool once you figure it out. I've used this for several trips as I needed an app in a hurry that would let me set adjustable stops and be able to toggle them on and off. That's where its strength is. The weaknesses are in finding current and up to date points of interest that are properly categorized. Needs to be overhauled in that department. I found that I couldn't trust it to find every gas station in a reasonable way. Ended up using this tool in conjunction with apps like GasBuddy and Google Maps. Very frustrating not being able to find all the details hot need in one place.

4 Stars for Now - Off road mode would make it 5!. Love this app so much but it NEEDS an off-road mode! Would love to see smaller forest roads be utilized as route options. Currently planning a 30 day overlanding trip that incorporates off-road trails, forest roads, etc and I’m going to have to utilize another map software due to Roadtrippers not plotting my route correctly down smaller roads. These roads all show up in the map, just wish my route would use them! Enabling an off-road navigation mode that activates forest roads and off road trails would be incredible and make this my one stop shop for all overlanding trips.

Highly recommend!. I am moving from Virginia to Idaho, and have been putting off planning my route and stops because it was so overwhelming for me. I found this app and was able to plan my route and where I’m going to be staying each night in under ten minutes. The fact that I could tell whether or not a hotel was “pet friendly” when I tapped on it and didn’t have to go searching every website was wonderful. This app is great and helped take a huge weight off my shoulders.

Was definitely worth the cost!. Saw so many things that we might’ve missed had we not had this app. So easy to use and rearrange your schedule. I love that I can look for things along a route such as the closest bathroom! 😉 Having also the hook up to Yelp is so convenient so see the rating of different places is awesome! No trying to guess if it’s okay here. Showing how many miles from each place is definitely a bonus if you want to make your trip in parts (like only 4hrs) before the next stop! Love it!

This app is great!!. I love this app so much! I just downloaded yesterday to get a start on planning for mine and my fiancé’s honeymoon (we are roadtripping across the country) and I can’t put this thing down!! It really helps giving you an idea of where you may want to go and even has pictures and reviews of most spots that people have visited before! It also allows you to browse many different activities and points you may want to visit a lot your way to your destination! I would DEFINITELY recommend this to anyone who likes to travel or has a need to plan a trip!!

Ridiculous. I spent hours on a southern road trip and for some reason there was a 2nd trip in my account - a Route 66 trip - too, that I never set up. I kept trying to delete it. I double clicked it and instead of it disappearing, my Southern Road Trip disappeared, on the first way station of my trip. All my planning up in smoke. Furious. If you’re going to push some random ‘example’ trip with 30 way stations on people without paid accounts, to entice them, at least make it possible for that trip to be deleted. I would have absolutely paid the fee for subscription I just hadn’t had time yet. Now I’ll never open this app again. My daughter’s senior year spring break, last one ever. All her destinations and web links gone.

Really tried to use this app. I uninstalled it a few years ago because of issues planning road trips and thought I’d give it another chance so recently re-installed it on an ipad. You can only search for one thing on your road trip, you can’t choose landmarks AND hotels, for example. In the filters, you have a sliding scale for hotel price: free to $$$$. Doesn’t work. When I told it to search for B&B and Unique stays, I got Marriotts and chain hotels along 95. Didn’t want to travel 95, wanted to travel the coastline instead. No way to tell it to do that either. And there’s still no way to find halfway points between locations or 8 hours worth of driving to next overnight stay. Goodbye Roadtrippers. I tried hard to like you.

The best for motorcyclists (and others). Roadtripper is hands-down the best for planning a route. The intuitive approach to switching routes and finding great stops along the way is exactly what I needed. Calimoto and Rever are great for discovering great roads, but if you want to plan a long tour, you need to be able to fine tune the route. (As nice as taking twisties for 2000 miles sounds, time demands that you hop on a hwy every now and then.) Good iPad support is also a must and simply not available in those other apps.

Route options please?. Just downloaded the app and started planning a trip so I haven’t used it while on the road yet. It seems pretty awesome so far but one recommendation I would like to make is that there be options available for alternate routs instead of the one automatically given when entering in destinations. The route I plan to take on my upcoming trip, which is slightly shorter, isn’t the one the app plans out therefore it doesn’t help me to find hotels etc. for advanced planning. The route it automatically sets for me is the one I want to avoid.

Use it for ALL my trips!. I have used Roadtrippers for YEARS, since before you had to pay to have more than 7 points on your trip. I still love it, though, because I discover cool and quirky places to visit. I’m actually thinking about upgrading to pro, and I don’t usually pay for the upgrades in apps, but Roadtrippers is just so handy. I have about 20 trips planned out and saved for when I get to take my next road trip. I recommend it to everyone.

very disappointed. This was an excellent app before the recent change to severely limit the amount of stops you can add to your trip before paying a $30 annual fee. It’s a great app to search for stops, but not practical enough to use as an actual routing map while on your trip and therefore, definitely not worth that price. I also feel incredibly frustrated with the fact that there are no additional options other than to pay the annual fee. How many road trips have 7 or less stops? The free version is essentially useless now and I’m genuinely disappointed that no notice and/or discount was given to existing users prior to this change.

Really wanted to love it…. I’ve been a fan of Roadtrippers for years—enjoying their online articles and e-mails. I signed up for their paid app subscription for my Route 66 trip. I figured this would be perfect! I liked being able to navigate to points on my map and view additional options nearby. I liked that you could share your route or print it. Here’s what I didn’t like: Some of the directions were wrong, you can only pick a certain number of nav points per trip, the app will always select the fastest way (it’s painstaking to amend to alternate routes), and it needs updating on the details/reviews for each place. Many trip points were closed due to various reasons including COVID. It would have been nice to see current information to avoid closed businesses. I didn’t see a ton of current reviews either which makes me think I’m better off using Google maps and Yelp sorry to say. I really wanted to love it but until improvements are made—I’m cancelling my subscription.

Great potential, needs more current updates. I love the idea of this app, and it did allow me to find a couple of things I wouldn’t have known about otherwise during a recent trip across the country. However, it also failed to find some places that it should have listed, and many of the places it listed were last reviewed years ago and are no longer in business. Some of the reviews seem like they were all written by the same person in the same day. The UI could be more intuitive. For an app this expensive I expected it to be frustrating less often.I do hope they stay in business and keep getting better because the intended function is worth sticking to. I just hope they make the experience smoother and more reliable.

The app has great potential, but really awful right now.. My wife has planned out a couple of our trips in RoadTrippers, and shared them with me. Since they are shared, I can see them in the web browser easily, but good luck finding them in the app. The “Open in RoadTrippers” link in the sharing email takes you to the browser, which works. The browser provides an open-in-the-app link, which opens the app, but no shared trip is there. All the app wants to do is try to sell you stuff. There is no way that either one of us can find to access shared itineraries in the app. Too bad. With a little work this app could become as good as TripIt.

Planning not there when you need it!. I’m a few days away from a trip I planned on Roadtrippers and my access has been cut off simply because the developer wants to change the way you access an account. My annual subscription was just paid. This shows me I can’t depend on having the plans I have saved when I need them. I’m going to a more secure and accessible system. After using this app I wouldn’t recommend it.

The Yelp integration makes this the perfect app!. I’ve been using Roadtrippers for years, both to plan trips and to keep a record of trips past. As much as I loved the app, I was bothered by the fact that the database was so small. I would search for a restaurant or store or brewery and not find it, and have to add the stop to the map manually. Now, with the Yelp integration, everything I’m searching for is suddenly there! Thanks to the Roadtrippers team for this most helpful addition. I hope to be using this app for many years to come.

You really messed up a good thing!!!. We have been RV Fulltimers for 10 years and have loved your trip planning app! It’s been invaluable! Haven’t you heard the saying, If it ain’t broke don’t fix it?!!! It was perfect for years until a recent update. I hate all those added empty waypoint spots! Now I have to scroll endlessly to get through my route when I could see several stops on my iPhone screen at once before It’s also much harder to read with those big dates. I much prefer the location in bold first. After your change I’ve lost data and had several dates removed. Please consider changing it back. This is a horrible change! If I want to change dates or routing I’ll drag and drop myself. PKEASE PUT IT BACK!!

15 thousand miles of road tripping. I am currently on my 3rd successful road trip thanks to this app. All 3 combined to 15 thousand miles. I couldn't have done it without this app. You can plan ahead or find new adventures along the way. I simply send a link for the outline of the trip to every family member. This has helped insure everyone gets some say in daily activities. When you have 2 teenagers this answer the question of what are we going to do today lol From "Mom & Pop" cafes to obscured hiking destinations this app will help you find your way!

Need more accurate points of interest. Overall a good road trip planner if you have done enough research outside of this app for your points of interest. There are too many interest points on the Roadtrippers app that are not legit. It would be nice if the trips with 7 or more waypoints could be purchased as a one time purchase rather than an annual membership for those that aren’t retired and may only use the app a couple times a year. App developer should consider incentivizing road trippers to post reviews to better the apps points of interest categories.

Excellent App!. I recently moved 2,000+ miles and decided to drive to my new home on a 4-day road trip. I started in Michigan, and drove through 8 states, 5 of which I had never been before. This app made it so easy to find awesome stops to get out and stretch my legs. We travelled with a cat so we were able to search for stops that were outdoorsy that allowed us to let our feline friend to get some fresh air. Many of the stops we made were breathtakingly beautiful-I would not have been able to find these hidden gems without the app. 5 stars. Thank you road trippers!!

So Easy. I’ve been trying to figure out an easy way to plan my cross country motorcycle trip, as far as mapping, points of interest, finding places to camp, eat, etc. Nothing seemed to fit what I was looking for. After searching for a couple hours, I found this website. Learned they have an app. I am amazed at how EASY it is to navigate. Adding in and removing points. The time between points. On the website, it shows nearby lodgings & food options. Haven’t figured out how to get that to show on the app yet, but it’s only day two. :) Thank you for making my trip planning so easy!!

Glad I found this app. I love that it lets my select what I view. If I just want to find trails to hike I don’t have to sift through all of the other attractions. Only complaint and it’s a big one to me as it makes the app not user friendly, when you create your route you can’t see everything that is included on map unless you zoom in then zoom out. Then the list feature doesn’t include everything on map just the area of he map you’re currently looking at. Can’t plan ahead well and it’s annoying to scroll, zoom, zoom out, repeat at every stop

Bad if you want to control your route. I stupidly purchased this app to help plan a trip across country in an rv. It failed right off the bat when giving directions from beginning to end. We try to avoid interstates if possible bc we can only go 60-65 miles per hour towing a camper. However, 4 lane state highways are typically not bad. This app either takes you on the interstate through the middle of every major city or on two-lane podunk roads 200 miles out of the way. Any attempt at diverting it requires a made up “waypoint” pin. In just the first 2 states I had to make 13 unnecessary waypoints to make the route go the way I wanted. It is clunky & useless. I wish I could get my money back.

Not versatile enough. I am planning a road trip this summer - a month long trip - with expected arrival dates. I have booked nearly all my over night stays already but have a couple nights here and there, no biggie we can always boondock… however, I KNOW the order of where we are going. I also want to add some quick stops along the route. Even though I’ve put in the date for each stay, as I progress along the map, it is changing the order of things and has me back tracking 2 states to go to a destination that is NOT in order at all. THIS is NOT going to be the map we use for our trip apparently. There are also a lot of long time business locations that are not even listed on the map. Well known places - wineries etc… at least the annual fee wasn’t too much.

My go-to adventure app!. I love this app so much. I’ve used it now for 5 different road-trips and vacations and it’s amazing. I’ve been able to find great “hidden gems” that you wouldn’t be aware of if you were just driving around or looking elsewhere online. The pictures are so helpful as are the reviews. A lot of like-minded adventure seeking people use this app. I’m motivated now to upload my own photos so I can help add to the content. Great for kids, adventurers or just anyone somewhere they aren’t familiar with. Love love love.

Our go to App while traveling. My wife and I are retired and we live full-time in our motorhome visiting our country’s national parks. Roadtrippers is our go to app while we are motoring down the road. The app is filled with so much pertinent information and points of interest which makes our trips so much more enjoyable knowing that we have hit all of the important stops along the way. I rate this app a 5 but one change I would like to see is the ability to maneuver the chosen route from place to place as we do not like to travel along the interstates. Great job Roadtrippers!!!

Actual trip routing, but has annoying gaps. The app gets points for being an actual trip routing utility. You can drop waypoints along the way, and get estimated time between each. Awesome. So why not 5 stars? A lack of feature parity between the app and the website can make usage a bit confusing. For one, there is this handy feature on the website to find points of interest along your route, and even customize the distance off the road the search occurs. If that’s in the app, I sure can’t find it. A major frustration for me, however, is the fact that this app has no concept of landscape mode. Seriously. I’m nonplussed about a navigation app that can’t be used on an iPad propped up in its keyboard case. In summary, Roadtrippers is probably a worthwhile service and subscription, but be mindful you’ll get the most value from using the website via your computer. This app is a pretty lightweight companion that has some growing-up to do. I tried it, but I’ll be on the hunt for a better alternative.

Worth it!. My husband and I go on a road trip every year for our wedding anniversary- we have a few destinations in mind and then sort of just, “wing it” after that- this app is amazing! I have routed our entire trip around the points of interest filter- which sorts abandoned places, monuments, photo ops, and much much more! That’s only ONE of the filters to search along your route. Another amazing feature is the pre-loaded trips- there is no planning involved you pick one and go and you can add your own stops! Upgrading was well worth it to add more stops along the way!

Hire a UX person. I don't know if RoadTrippers has a UX person or it the UX people you have, have never traveled or used this app. It's painful to use. If I go to the map, and find something interesting, I can't add it to my trip from that screen. I have to go to my profile (I would prefer my trips be a tab at the bottom). Any location I view details for, I should be able to add to my trips from the details screen. The button to add to my trip from my profile is not obvious. It's white, and on the bottom right of the screen. Why not make it blue, like the RoadTrippers brand blue. Blue is universally recognized as a call to action. Links, buttons, etc. Too many issues to mention here. I'd be happy to help.

Great and useful app. Okay people, listen up. I used this app on a trip from California to NewYork City. I used it to plan the trip, and to explore interesting sites along the way. It was probably the best app I have ever used. Now, it took a little time to figure it all out, so practice a bit before you start. I did, and thought it was ok, but as I began to become more familiar with it, it became indispensable. Trust me. I paid nothing, but even though I have no plans to use it for a while, I am upgrading (yes, paying for it) to support the app designers. (I have never done that before).
