Chinese propaganda. The content seems to be mostly propaganda. In free countries people who are journalists do not agree exactly with the governments position 100% of the time.

CCP Propoganda push notifications at 3 am. Worked well until I got a push notification at 3 am threatening two tiny countries, Lithuania and Taiwan for committing the high crime of referring to Taiwan as a sovereign country. CCP, Hong Kong and Taiwan are both sovereign countries and you need to chill the F out!

Jim Rinaldi. I’m a huge fan of several of your programs especially Travelogue & Culture express as well as rediscovering China. Truly great programs. My wife who was born and raised in Taiwan and myself throughly enjoyed our trip to China. We were there in 2007. We stayed for three weeks at many different places. We will both be vaccinated with our second dose of covid vaccine in April. Can’t wait to go again. I only wish we didn’t need a visa for a two week stay. It just makes it longer to justify going more often. Btw, my wife does believe in the one China policy

China Global. We have China Global in our cable pkg. The news & programming are informative. I decided to have it on mu iPad.

It is what it is: Xi TV. Love the obvious trolls paid by CCP to four- and five- star this app. It is what it is, state-run propaganda. Take it with the grain of salt.

Audio. The app works great except there are some audio issues. No audio!!!! For the iPhone.

News without ads. I downloaded the app yesterday after reading a story on Facebook by CTGN. The first thing that made me wonder did I download an ad blocker on my phone? No. Who sponsored this so that it was ad free? I guess the Chinese Govt. If that is what they do, and I get to read various news stories without ads ever, I LOVE it! I can not even begin to tell you how many stories I just stop reading because hundreds of ads, accidentally clicking on them and getting frustrated because I can not get back to the story. I am so over being bombarded by ads of products I would never buy. Thanks for a clean news source. Is their anyway to add weather to it? I would never have to go anyplace else. I am in the USA so it would be great. Thanks again. Just to be clear no fees? No monthly sub? And no ads? Where has this kind of news been?

Zoom. Zoom capability of CGTN news articles and video clips is not available for cell phone and computer. What a disappointment!

Great app. I enjoy watching and reading the news on the app, however I hope they replace the person translating President Moon Jae-in speech after he was elected, she is horrible and screwed up so many times I lost count. Very irritating.

Great app for several reasons. 1. A good balance. We are inundated with negative news about China from western sources. It’s great to hear positive news about China from the source. 2. A great app. This app is really well built and just very user friendly and very aesthetically pleasing. 3. No ads. 4. Not intentional, but great for language learning. If you’re learning French, Spanish, Russian, or Arabic, you can change the settings in your account to get the news in those languages. Most of the news articles have video and audio along with the text. There is also a translation feature directly at the tool bar to quickly see the article in your native language or many more target languages.

Great source for news - just be aware it’s the CCP. If you want to read about news from a CCP perspective, then this is perfect. I follow it to see what they are saying about the US. Just be aware that it is directly from the mouth of the CCP, it is propaganda.

How to enable notifications?. It’s really nice app for news. But how can one activate the notifications?

Great update. I like the News content and info from the app but the app always looked a bit old fashioned and the User Interface was lacking a little bit. The new update looks spectacular, way more modern and simple interface. Keep up the good work!

Works great. Nice app, pleasing to view. Lots of news groups have these things, why use this one? Living in the USA I find myself more and more disdainful of the inept, highly opinionated and barefaced biases found on all the major (and lesser!) news sources here and western countries in general. They all have pretty apps too. I’m still in the first few days of trying this CGTN, hoping to find less opinions and just the facts. I can form my own opinions. So far it’s going ok. The opinion articles are clearly labeled as such in the headline. The live TV feature works well. So far my personal jury is still out as to whether or not CGTN will deliver the news in the manner I’m seeking but I’m giving them a good try and hoping for the best. Best of luck to them and thanks for their hard work. Update after using a while... Seeing many of the usual biases on USA reports. They parrot U.S. msm sources. Noticed the last story read was actually an AP story. I must assume the reports on China are similarly slanted. Deleted from device.

Settings does not work. Settings screen is blank and does not do anything.

Apple Watch app does not open. Needs fixed.

Works Great!. I love the new layout, but there is just one problem. My iPad doesn’t get push notifications despite me setting that up and I have the same app on my iPhone and it DOES give me push notifications, which, I have set up. I guess my advice is: please bring back push notifications for iPad.

Obviously a very well funded operation , however , they haven't learned that in an open and free society such as America a comments section goes a long way to rounding out a report Perhaps they'll incorporate this if only on a trial basis , it would help them see how their news is processed individually

This is good!!. I am pretty tired of the biased media in the U.S. So much so I rarely even bother with it anymore. We have become a country whose media are more focused on gossip and what everyone is wearing than reporting real news. This app is very good. They reports what is going on in the world minus the left wing biases and hyper focus of finding fault with Trump. Thank you for an app that tells about what is going on in the world!!

Information Bias by make news media. I like the fact that you are interested informing the private sector on important news and information without inferring that the news is the result of conservatives or liberals mistakes or mismanagement. Just the important facts the world needs to know.

Notifications. I really love the app i think it works great and i love reading your news articles, the only thing i don’t like is that if you open a notification from the app or open the app all the other notifications go away which is annoying

CGTN app. The digital assistant is really cool because it helps you find news from the Chinese perspective for the topics you want to read about. I have no complaints

Great news source. This is a great news source I hate American and western mainstream media as it contains constant Cold War propaganda on socialist and anti imperialist countries CGTN is a great and reliable news source it’s so refreshing to see the world from a different anti imperialist viewpoint plus the app works great

A Good Alternative for Western Viewers. I love that this news source is entirely free and ad free! If you’re reading this, you have to recognize that this is essentially the propaganda arm of the CPC. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It allows for some alternative views that run against the western current. Personally, I’d recommend consuming some western media with it so you don’t become insanely one sided. It’s very important to keep a balanced view of the world. I like the app overall. It’s good because you know what it is, an anti-western perspective that is pro Chinese. It’s really no different than western propaganda like CNN or Fox News, it just has a different bias, which is important too.

One significant flaw in the updated app. I watch CGTN on my iPad. When watching the live TV (shows like China 24) it’s very helpful if I can switch between a portrait and landscape view. Previously, this capability worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, this no longer works on the new app I have not found any way to switch to a landscape view– which means most of my screen is wasted when watching these shows. Please make some adjustment. The absence of an ability to view the shows in landscape view is frustrating. Aside from this one feature, your app and your broadcast is wonderful. Under the assumption that you will repair this, I am giving you five stars, although I am very frustrated with this portrait\landscape problem. Thank you

Religion. Muslim oriented as opposed to Christianity. Search for: Christianity, Christian, Christ, Jesus, Religion - all 5 produced "no results". Then I place Muslim in the search bar and - no problem. I didn't search for "Merry Christmas" - (I wonder if it would refer me to "season greetings", or "happy holidays"). I'm not wasting my time - I'm to impatient - to see if there is a bias in this news network. I will delete the app after I write this review.

Best app for English-language Chinese news so far. Interesting news app-diverse selection of contents, not hard to use, good design, and from Chinese perspective. Plus, ppl really should stop being so biased. When all your knowledge about a community is from some media on the opposite side of it (yes I'm talking about some coverage from some non-Chinese media), you would NEVER be able to know what the community is really like LOL. Open ur eyes plz :) that is why this app is here.

Blocked App? No News loaded!. This APP is not working at all using iPhone. No News World China etc get loaded into APP when requested. It appears since the tariff war that this application has failed. I still can get CGTN News life using Chrome in the web not in the APP!

iPad screen rotation disabled in latest update. Edit: FIXED This app is back to its old self, and now working perfectly. I’m impressed with how quickly the team responded to the rotation problem. Original review: Your recent revamped app for iPad won’t do screen rotation to landscape. It did so before, and I could watch my favorite shows in full screen. Now I only get a small screen. I turn my iPad on its side and the picture remains in portrait mode. (And yes, I’ve checked the settings.)

CGTN well done!. CGTN is almost the only news source I dare trust to be true, honest and reliable.

App live channels not playing. Hi your channels are not working at all. Normally your app is great news channels. If you can fix it that would be great!

Chrome cast. Great content (particularly the documentaries) but really wish I could chromecast to the big screen so I could watch together with my husband or other friends.

App loads FINE on iphone6 in Sydney Australia. Great news site on updates to all the fabulous activities of the Chinese people. Get authentic news from trustworthy sources.

Push notifications galore. Congratulations, you got your notifications turned off. When practically every story gets a notification it gets very annoying quickly.

News rating. I like your news. The only thing wrong is some of your articles are cut off in the middle of the story. If you could fix that, I will give you 5 stars, very good news. To the point, and not a lot of mumbo jumbo.

Required FULL attention. This App won't work if you are not devoting your full attention to it. As soon as it detected that it is not the primary app on your screen or if you turn off your phone, the app will stop working. It requires your full attention or nothing. (uninstall the app and watch it on your browser. that runs on background while listening the news ) CGTN provides are fairly neutral opinion on international affairs, that make the network a "trustable chinese source of news", amount Al Jazeera and France 24, but they both will work on background mode, CGTN instead won't allow that, draining your battery or accidentally jumping to another subjects in the app ( when the screen is touch while in your pocket ) as you are listening to the news while walking or driving. The app should have a LISTENING ONLY mode but.... knowing as I do chinese people, i doubt it it will happen any time soon. Same with asking for a shortcut to the English channel ( or any other ), just wait....

No native iPad support. No native iPad support which doesn't make sense to do in this day and age. The app remains in portrait mode and doesn't even support landscape mode... Fix these things and I'll try again.

Why is this setup for only an iPhone?. Of little use to iPad users. Won’t turn to landscape mode when viewing news clips is far more convenient on an iPad. Why would I use this app when other news apps are setup for tablet users? I’m gonna delete it right now. Too bad because it could have been interesting.

Network Connection Fail Error. All of a sudden the app won’t stream. Constantly getting Network Connection Fail error message all of a sudden. When it works it works great.

Dear China. Dear China CGTN news present views of Chinese issues that are not shared by the western world. This creates misunderstanding of the chinese culture and for the most part allows “western” society to vilify China and gives usa an opportunity to create the next enemy in this world. Instead, China cover all news even on the ones that may not be in China’s favour. The world needs a more balanced viewpoint and its time for China to stand up for its own reputation to drum up patriotism and unite all Chinese people.

This is a good tool for the world for the west, like us to get to know more about this country we need original source of the news be it manipulated or not or Good news or not we will compare the news in the west to counter the missing parts of the news. I welcome this Just a few weeks ago and begin to get to know China further where the news do not get to broadcast in our western world. I like this two ways mirror. No Panoramic Format Screen. The latest version which I downloaded just yesterday is only vertically screened. It does not and cannot switch to panoramic screen. I always use my iPad panoramically, not vertically. The last version before yesterday at least I can view CGTN panoramically, or landscape. Hence, I have no choice but to delete the latest CGTN app.

Good start. Suggest ability to increase txt size. The share or email of story should be more user friendly such as RT.COM where email icon/link is at bottom. Color seems opaque versus other news apps. Links to prior or third-party stories inadequate. Good begining suggest you follow RT model for organization

Hypocrisy. China government run news? You claim to believe in strong and neutral reportage. You just announced a 14 billion $ program to further restrict the news your people can view and at the same time claim people like me (in the USA) don't get a complete view of world affairs. I can watch Communist Chinese tv, can your people watch CNN or BBC unfiltered or censored?

Notification Error. Notification clicks mark ALL notifications from the app as “opened”. CNN,Russia Today have notifications that only disappear when you click on that specific notifier.Good content overall; good for seeing other country’s views on stories.

CCTVNews app update issued 9-25-2016. The new app is nice in general but it has one glaring problem. When using a device running iOS 10, you cannot share to Facebook. You get an error message stating that you do not have a needed client app but no instructions as to what the app is or how to obtain it are given. I cannot find anywhere on the app how to contact CCTVNews for help. This severe defect needs to be immediately fixed for the multitude of iOS 10 users.
