Terrible App that Steals Your Money and Cuts Access!. The first couple of months were great! Then for no reason my login was reduced to no access but Shudder had no problem charging me! I reached out to customer service. After a few days my ticket was closed with no outreach or explanation. I reached out again asking for assistance and got absolutely no response. Not even an acknowledgement of receipt of a new inquiry. I sent screen shots showing I was clearly logged in despite it asking me to now start at trail even though Shudder had just charged my account for the month. I sent a screen shot of the charge and NOTHING! Basically, Shudder took my money and ignored my second request for assistance in fixing the problem. In short, Shudder stole my money. I either have to change my debit card number for this one recurring payment or tell PayPal my money is being stolen. Avoid Shudder!!

Why?. There are a few good movies but nothing major. This app is a list of old and foreign films with a few Redbox movies thrown in for fun. When you write a review and it’s not stellar, the review doesn’t show up on the reviews. There are a few gems, yet they are b flicks and very few and far between. Most of the time you watch a movie just to be disappointed. The service works well. Unless you can speak 10 languages or want to read for an hour skip it. I paid for a year so I guess I’m in it. I may cancel soon and they can keep the money. Who knows? Better to just rent a few from companies that don’t cut review or skimp on movies. I looked forward to this app. Now I’m just kicking myself for this decision. I’m writing this because I can’t find a single movie to watch after having shutter for a month. One full month and now I have an app that is as useful as a trampoline in outer space. The scary part of shutter is that I signed up for a year. That’s the first scary thing I have experienced with this app. No name movies most of which have been around longer than my 17 year old daughter. Why can this company not listen to horror fans? This app was made for hipsters and loners who don’t know quality. This is sad because the idea is epic but the execution was lack luster to say the least. There are very few movies on the app and very few worth while titles.

Mandatory for horror fans. This is it, chief. I thought I was going to get Shudder for a month or two to watch a few things and then unsubscribe, but I didn’t realize the depth of the catalog and how often they add new movies and shows. Unless you can afford to spend all your money and time buying physical media and going to film festivals, Shudder is mandatory for keeping up with current horror movies and series. And besides that, it’s the only place to see Joe Bob Briggs. You think you probably don’t need another streaming service with the other stuff you’ve got, but you’re wrong. It’s an outstanding value. I guarantee that you’ve spent a lot more and gotten a lot less. Anything you’ve heard about service problems is old news and is probably only related to the night of the Last Drive-In premiere. I’ve been using for months and haven’t had the slightest hiccup. Highest recommendation.

Great app, bad customer service. So it took me way too long to notice this. But I received a notification that my card was declined. No big deal because I recently changed the address on the card and must have forgotten to update it. However when I went to look at my bank statements I saw that I was being charged through my iTunes account and on my debit card as well. When I reached out to customer service, Julia is apparently the only person in customer service, she just kept giving me the same answer “which subscription would you like to keep?” Well Julia there is only one subscription but I am being charged double! Then she sent me a link to cancel the iTunes subscription! I want my subscription, I just want someone to tell me why I have been paying double for almost a year. How do you even sign up for two accounts!?! Wouldn’t your system alert you to the fact there was two accounts with the same email. I am just amazed at how unhelpful they are.

Almost great. A lot of great titles to choose from, and it’s especially nice how many older and foreign titles there are. Shudder definitely knows their stuff. Major bonus points for the Joe Bib Briggs marathon. Whoever’s decision that was needs a raise! My middling rating is only because I think Shudder still has room to grow, especially the design and layout of the platform. Limiting the ability to search only by title rather than other keywords like actor or director, especially with genre films like horror and thriller, is pretty annoying. It would be really nice and convenient to be able to isolate Shudder’s selection of Argento or Cronenberg films, for instance, or see which films feature Brigitte Lahaie. Also when searching through genres, it seems like the movies are always in reverse chronological order, which makes sense, but is also kind of frustrating while trying to brush up on the classics. Lastly, and I realize this is probably a licensing issue, but it’s kind of weird that there are various entries from certain series while omitting crucial chunks from those series (Phantasm without part 2, Halloween without parts 2 & 3). Overall, been having a lot of fun with this app, but would look forward to some adjustments.

Teeth, Trailers, Terror. I am a horror super-fan, but for the love of god, please, please remove the nauseating tooth monster from the front page of the app. Sweet Jesus. My partner has a phobia of ticks and it makes them physically unable to look at the app when we boot it up. I know that you can’t satisfy everyone, but there has to be a better alternative than a relatively common phobia. It’s just uncomfortable. I feel discouraged from opening the app. Another opportunity for improvement — why is the ability to watch a trailer of a film or show removed after paying for a subscription? A key way my partner and I decide how to watch something is by browsing through the trailers. If one isn’t available for a particular film, I understand, but NONE are available. The feature disappears after you pay for a subscription, which is the most flummoxing aspect of this situation. Otherwise, things are fine.

Huge scam!!!!!. If I could give this company negative stars, I would. Everything was fine with them until I tried to cancel. They ignored my emails to cancel and then proceeded to charge me 3 payments, that I never agreed to pay, in the same day right after another. I emailed them about the charges and didn’t hear back again. I tried to contact them for 3 weeks before I gave up and went through my bank to dispute the charges. They took over and had to go so far into canceling my card because the payments started going through. I had to go for 3 days without my debit card because I couldn’t get through to their horrible customer service. I finally sent them an email telling them how upset I was about the whole situation and how my bank is disputing with them, and they replied two days later only asking to cancel the dispute and they’ll refund the money. They didn’t bring anything else up; it seems like they were only worried about the dispute with my bank and not the issues I’d been having. Seriously the biggest pain I’ve ever been apart of and I can only hope that this review will save people from having to go through the same situation I did.

Shudder is GREAT the app needs work. I’ve debated trying Shudder for so long. I already have Prime video, Netflix and Disney Plus. I decided to try the trial and was surprised. You get popular flicks as well as stuff like Cannibal Holocaust and Henry Portrait of a serial killer. What sold me however was the original content. The Eli Roth series, the documentaries, Creepshow, Cursed Films and more. Horror lovers paradise. However can you please fix the mobile app. On the latest version of iOS for iPhone the bar at the bottom of the movie it won’t let me slide it to reach a certain part in the movie or film. Also needs a better fast forward and rewind button. Something new is I get signed out of the app every couple days. Shudder is AMAZING, but app has some bugs.

Let’s just say, Shudder is the only essential channel to subscribe to.. Sure, there’s the usual slasher trash trope, though, admittedly, some groundbreaking classics, There are some films I’m not interested in and guess what? I don’t watch them. But what keeps me subscribed, besides the opportunity to revisit so many well-known, well-made classics, are the amazing little known, small releases and a banquet of indie horror films, films I probably wouldn’t know about if not for Shudder and the wide range of “horror” fare presented. I get a kick out of reading (and writing) reviews, though it does gall me when someone says “meh” about “Don’t Look Now,” one of the few distinguished films that are more terrifying with each viewing. Any programmer who presents “Angst” and “Barking Dogs Never Bite” on the same channel, certainly gets (and keeps) my attention.

The horror story here is that the app does not work!. It says I have a monthly subscription, but does not let me watch videos. I canceled it, and added a new one. I refreshed the subscription and have performed every update. I keep getting charged monthly for a plan that is not working. I can’t get it to run because of the prompt app asking you to manage subscriptions. I am not able to watch shudder anymore! I have recently moved over to a different device, and even with the newest device— I have still not been able to access the movies and shows. Shudder is completely updated along with my new phone. I am unsure of what the problem is!! Please help resolve this issue! Nov 2023 update: nothing is resolved yet! Since the most recent update, it is still not working, and I have been waiting for an update before canceling my subscription. There is a glitch where it says that I need to manage my plans, and then I’m in the constant loop of it not working. I enjoyed shutter at one time, and I will change my review if you guys get this fixed.

Apple TV losing show progress. UPDATE: a few years later, it seems like the movie progress issue is somewhat resolved, but now a new more aggravating bug keeps popping up on the Apple TV app. Thanks to Shudder TV constant streaming if I minimize the app and come back later the audio from the Shudder TV always steaming overlays whatever I put on from my list. And I never watch the Shudder TV feature. I didn’t sign up for that mess. I have to shut the app down and restart it in order to fix the issue. Two stars just because other features were pretty consistent. This is really aggravating. Apple TV keeps losing my movie progress so I have to fast forward on almost everything I leave in progress. Even if the device is refreshing the app due to memory management house cleaning the movie progress shouldn’t reset. Other streaming apps do not have a problem like this one.

Mixed feelings. I originally signed up solely to watch The Last Drive-In as this program is exclusive to the platform. Unfortunately the library is cluttered foreign language versions of some mid-century classics as that broadcasting such obscure versions of famous films is either cheap or free for them. Any titles of note are often already in the public domain (hard to justify paying for content that’s free on other platforms). As someone that often needs subtitles, it’s disheartening to find them unavailable on many titles. The app itself is buggy at best and often incapable of streaming via Chromecast devices, limiting viewing exclusively to your tablet or mobile phone. As much as I look forward to the new lineup of Shudder exclusives, I can’t justify paying for content I can’t watch on all my devices. It’s a great concept with great original programing but in regards to the app itself and the quality of older content, I’m regrettably looking elsewhere.

Scam. I took a “free trial” that was supposed to be for 30 days but was charged $60 after 3 days. Emailing customer service is absolutely pointless- it’s as if you’re speaking to an AI that doesn’t respond to what you’re actually saying but just replies with generic responses that are absolutely no help. I’ve had this service for 7 months now because they refused to refund me (or even acknowledge my request) and I haven’t been able to log into it a single time. It crashes or says that I need to log in after I’ve already logged in and when I try to log in a second time it just keeps looping back to the same screen that says “Looks like you already have an account! Please login!” I’ve been charged $60 for a “free trial” for a service that I can’t even access and no one will even communicate with me through email properly, which is the only method of communication they offer. Horrible scam of a business- I have and will continue to discourage anyone from ever using it- even as a “free trial”. NEVER GIVE THIS COMPANY YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.

Who’s using my card #. I did the 7 day free trial in June. I cancelled before the trial was even up for many issues. Some times issues logging in. Playing just abruptly stopping and closing. Wasn’t worth it. Well I just noticed I’m being charged for Shudder still. I searched my bank around and found out I was charged in June, July, Aug, and now September. I got ahold of customer service to see why and according to them I cancelled in June but yes my card was charged in so I had to have signed up again under a different email. Uh no. I have one email address. So my card is being charged for an account but they don’t know what account and can’t figure out what account. So be careful. Now I have to go to the bank and cancel my card and get a new one because they just can’t figure out what account is being used with my card number. So that tells me the card I had on file was compromised BECAUSE OF THEM!

Review for Apple TV version. I love Shudder but I am exclusively using it on my Apple TV device, so I’m reviewing that version of the app. The reason I’m taking the time to do this is because I am so sick of having to log back in to the app every few months. Sometimes only a week after having log in again, I’m forced to do this yet again because the Apple TV iOS updated, in the background. FIGURE THIS OUT, Shudder. I often go to the app, have to log in, and either try once and give up or don’t even try. I love the content from Shudder exclusives but it’s an obnoxious bug that hasn’t been fixed since I started noticing it several years ago. I’m talking pre-pandemic, if I’m not mistaken. Do better because I’m sure I’m not alone. All my friends who use Shudder also complain about this.

Absolute SCAM!! BEWARE. Can’t cancel. I subscribed for a free subscription, but I just didn’t really have time to use it. So I went to cancel it before it charged me, and then I was offered a one-month extension. So I decided why not. Little did I know when I accepted it, that they charged me $60 that very day. I noticed it a week later, and tried to cancel and open a dispute. Instead of answering my ticket they just closed it out and told me there was no problem. I have tried over and over and over to cancel my membership, but it keeps saying that it’s still active. When I contacted the company they didn’t even seem concerned at all that I have been wrongfully charged, and that I couldn’t cancel my subscription. They just kept telling me that I can’t just delete the app to cancel, which I didn’t. I’m not an idiot. I even provided a screenshot of the confirmation. The company is awful, and completely incompetent. I dug through the reviews and saw this has happened to a few others. I was able to dispute the charge with my bank, and get a stop payment. With zero help from the company, who I cannot believe is owned and operated by AMC!! It just blows my mind you’re not even able to successfully cancel the subscription, that is the scammiest part about it.

app content great, format & navigation need work. the shudder app has great content, i love the range of horror movies available and some series too. the shudder originals are fun & if you love all varieties of horror then content gets an A. the navigation of the app is not very user friendly. when compared to other streaming services apps the set up is not intuitive. the navigation menu is at the top. the enter screen is a live tv mid-movie auto play. id prefer to land on my homepage (which is currently hiding being as it's the LAST option). when you search for content (second to last option for some reason) it does not have a smart search and will not find your result until you've typed it entirely. if you want to search movies with NIGHT in the title you can't just search the word NIGHT and see all items that contain the word night you need to search the name exactly. i would also love to be able to search genres like "vampires". they have some prefilled categories but it's not very intuitively created. i think if the app end user interface had an update this would be a great experience overall.

A must for all horror hounds. I love Shudder! Their selection of movies has expanded so much over the years. I’ve been really enjoying their original series and documentaries. I give it 4.5/5 because of a small, yet obnoxious glitch when casting to a smart device. I usually cast the app to my smart TV, but whenever I’m watching something and have to pause, once I press play again through the app, it restarts the whole movie/show to the beginning. There were a few instances when I had to pause a very lengthy documentary a couple of times and every time I would go back to press play through the app, it would restart it all the way back to the beginning. I’m hoping this bug can get fixed soon since it’s quite frustrating at times, especially when I want to come back to a movie at a later time. Regardless, Shudder is awesome and is a must if you’re into the world of horror.

Great content on an ok app.. I love the content. I found a lot of cool movies on here I’ve never heard of before. They curate the content well, with films listed by sub-genre and unique categories created by Shudder. There are some great series to watch too, Channel Zero and Creepshow bring personal favorites. The app works just fine when streaming a movie, which is obviously the most important thing, but the interface is a little quirky. Sometimes movies I add to my watchlist are gone the next time I log in and I have to add them again. TV series I can’t add to my watchlist at all. Reviews I leave usually don’t show up on the site. Apparently there’s no way to turn off the autoplay feature when watching a series. And I miss the ability to download movies. Despite all this I’m a happy subscriber. I use this app more than Netflix, and it’s half the price. For horror fans it’s a huge bargain.

Wrongfully charge... Terrible Customer Service. The first time (after the initial free month) I was charged twice.... it was corrected. The following month I was charged but it keep stating that I do not have an account. Contacted customer service, it’s been 4 days now with no reply! I feel like Shudder may be trying to weasel their way into getting their $5.99 that I was reimbursed the first month or trying to get money for the “free month”. Waiting until the end of this month to see if they reply since I was already charged, if not I’m completely unsubscribing. A subscriber claimed they had to change her debit card info through her bank because Shudder kept charging her despite unsubscribing for similar reasons. I will keep a close eye on this, I recommend you do the same if you are having a terrible experience like I am and a good amount of other subscribers, just look on FB and IG. What a shame!!! Shudder does have some cool stuff for Horror fans! GET IT TOGETHER SHUDDER!!!!!!

Great concept but apps need more fine tuning. I love shudder and what it offers for people like myself who are into the horror genre, and the price for a year is unbeatable. So as a concept for streaming options it is a solid 5 stars. However, the app itself is problematic for several reasons. The search options are not as widespread as major streaming services like Netflix offer. The app has a tendency to shut off suddenly or crash that I do not notice with other streaming apps. It will not save your spot in a show or movie unless you manually exit out of the video to the main screen first, which is not true of netflix. The phone app also doesn’t sync with bluetooth headphones well so I cannot pause and play like I can with anything else in my phone. The phone app does do a good job of showing you the ratings of the movie and details with suggested titles but the xbox app lacks this ability and is limited in presentation overall. So great streaming service but the apps have a long way to go. I paid for a year so it is clearly worth the glitches. Looking forward to some improvements...

Hidden gem of a streaming service. As a fan of horror, I’ve found more value in this service than even something like Netflix. At less than $5 a month (with the annual subscription) there’s always something worth watching, and the exclusive content is really high quality. There’s usually something new released every week, which makes it fun to watch and discuss with the community. My only real complaints are that I wish the website/account management were a bit more robust. There isn’t really an easy way to do something simple like turn off auto-renewal, or change your plan, without needing to contact support, which can sometimes feel like you’re jumping through hoops (though they are friendly and helpful). Would probably be good if there was 2FA also, since credit card details are stored. I also find that the Apple TV app has an issue where I constantly get a buffering icon when watching the live Shudder TV feed, despite the video playing normally (doesn’t happen with any of the on demand content).

Hub of Horror. Shudder is a great app and website for any new or veteran horror fan to use. It has tons of old classics like The Re-Animator and Halloween and newer movies like the Orphan. It also a great place for people to get exposed to different cultures of horror from Europe and Asia. The content is amazing but the app it self is quite sub par. The settings has no means of changing any account information or changing your subscription which is inconvenient. The search engine only works by exact spelling of title so it doesn’t show results for spelling errors. And a lot of the movies especially older ones don’t have captions. I understand that a lot of the older movies don’t have captions to begin with, but it would be nice to have. All in all I love shudder but it has a lot of room to improve.

Trash app. This is why companies go out of business: Losing subscribers one after the other because they can’t get the app to work. After trying for 40 minutes to get the dumb appletv app to work ( it won’t recognize that we are logged in, despite somehow knowing that we are already a subscriber and telling us we can’t subscribe again when we gave up logging in and tried that route; nor will it even allow the remote to move the cursor up into the menu labeled “account”), I decided to put the app on my iphone and log on there. It actually let me log in, so kudos there, but then when I picked movies to play it kept giving an idiotic error message. Utterly abysmal. You know what would be better than this app? Getting out all my old vhs tapes and my video cassette player and watching a movie that way. At least I could actually start watching something. Just give up, AMC. You don’t possess the coding chops to pull this off. Or maybe contact a company that knows what it is doing, like Netflix, and see if you can partner with them for the software to play your movies. It might cost you a lot, but you could afford it by firing all of your software developers. They have no clue what they are doing.

Billed me for a full year after a free month offer. I have been a long time on and off Shudder subscriber, cancelling once getting thru everything new and restarting when I saw new things. One day I decided to cancel and was promoted with a free month to stick around, which I took. I didn’t cancel before the end of that month, and was continuing to watch content under the impression I had simply been put back on my old monthly billing cycle since I hadn’t yet cancelled. About 2 months after the free month, I went to cancel again only to see they had actually restarted my subscription at an annual billing rate. They changed my billing terms, pulled almost $60 from my account in the middle of a pandemic, and when I asked for an adjusted refund with the months used deducted, I was provided with a screenshot proving I had been using my account and that these were terms I agreed to. I think it’s beyond sneaky to offer a free month and slip in a complete change of contract, and then do everything in your power to keep someone from recouping their losses. I enjoyed Shudder and would have continued to subscribe on and off as I had been doing, but once the annual cycle is complete I’ll be continuing my crusade to let everyone know this company cheats its loyal customers out of large chunks of money in the most desperate of times.

It was a good app until it stopped working. I was an early adopter and have had this app since it first rolled out, and everything was great. The original programming was cool, and it was nice to find obscure titles that aren’t always on other streaming services. I renewed for a year about a month ago, and then suddenly the app started telling me that I needed a subscription to watch anything - even though I had paid up through August of 2021. I was running the current version on my iPhone and Apple TV, but still hit the paywall even though I paid. I submitted a trouble ticket to Shudder, but never got a response. So finally I just submitted a refund request through the Apple App Store and got my money back and deleted the app. Kind of a bummer, because I liked it, but if I’m paying for something I can’t use, it’s worthless.

Completely useless. Paid for a subscription through Apple. When I go to watch something - it says ‘you need a subscription to watch this.’ But I already paid for a subscription! From that page, if I try to ‘sign up’ for a subscription, it tells me I already have one. Repeat ad nauseum. I’ve talked to customer service and they’re horrible. Keep having me restart my device, etc. Cannot get anything but a canned response with device troubleshooting. Still can’t watch anything. By looking at these comments - others are having the same problem so why can’t it get fixed? I finally asked for a refund and they asked for so much ‘proof’ it was insane. They needed tons of info, receipts I’d already sent twice, your credit card statement, etc. Felt like next they’d need my first born child. I’m just going to consider my $8 or whatever lost forever and move on. Just absolutely horrible. Total scam.

Excellent Replacement for Cord cutters. I got Shudder strictly for Joe Bob Briggs and The Last Drive In! Then I discovered The Critters series and everything else Shudder offers. The exclusive content is great. I mean Creepshow is awesome! As long as the original content is this good, I am hooked. I look forward to seeing more Joe Bob Briggs and recommend u add more Classic Horror Hosts like Elvira in a similar format! So far this is the one subscription channel that is a must have. Excellent interface and easy to use. Picture quality and sound is excellent and thru put on an IPad, Samsung phone and Pc/Roku is outstanding. Human Interface and design engineers hit this service out of the park! Keep Joe Bob and develop quality original content and maybe throw in some classic content and I am a subscriber forever. Cancelled Netflix for Shudder and am not looking back.

Love the Shows but Some Technical Difficulties. I really really love the shows on Shudder; there’s a really good mix of different styles of horror and horror-adjacent shows. I especially love their curated collections. I also like how you can write reviews for shows. I wouldn’t recommend this app to someone who is intending to ChromeCast to a larger screen. The app doesn’t seem to be capable to cast. The only way I’ve found to cast is if you cast a computer screen — but that gets very glitchy very fast. There’s also some issues with episodes loading. If you click on a show the episodes might appear for a second, but then quickly disappear. Maybe it’s something wrong with my phone, but I’ve been experiencing this since I got it a month ago.

This is THE horror movie app. If you’re a fan of horror or have any inclination for the genre then this is a must have app for you. I can’t recommend this enough. It’s suitable for casual fans of horror as well as seasoned veterans. They have a plethora of movies and tv shows and most of them are difficult to come by on any other streaming site. Nevertheless, it’s curated and each guest picks the movies that have personally inspired or affected them in some way. Lastly their movies range from indie to big studio and from domestic to international. There is not another streaming app out there that is close to being as epic as shudder when it comes to horror. See for yourself with their free trial.

Cant reach a support team. the app itself is okay. i got it for the month of october so i could binge watch all my halloween favorites. however, after the month i canceled. it is now january and i am still being charged for a subscription! on my apple account it says my subscription has expired (since november), so i thought nothing of it. after realizing i was charged in december i have been sending constant tickets to their support team asking to resolve this issue. it’s been 3 months later now and i’m still being charged and haven’t gotten a single response yet! everytime i send in a new ticket i keep getting the same response saying they will contact me shortly. not one message. i wish i could give this app more stars since the movie selection isn’t half bad! however considering they are continuing to take my money and ignore my ticket requests i can only give it 2.

Good Service With Room for Improvement. Shudder is a great deal at only $5 a month with a really good catalog of horror films. The only things holding it back are that a lot of the titles added get removed very quickly - a good number of them will get added for only a month or less. The titles often get removed without warning, and it would be nice to know when and which titles are leaving so I would have a chance to watch them. There is sometimes a “Last Chance to Watch” category, however this sometimes is there and sometimes isn’t, and it also doesn’t say when the films are leaving/how long you have to watch them till they’re gone. Those gripes aside, I still love the service and it has made a wide variety of films accessible. With some user interface improvement and better consistency with the longevity of titles added to the service, Shudder would easily be one of the best streaming services available.

I only wish I’d subscribed sooner!. I just found Shudder through the podcast, “Inside The Exorcist”, and I am absolutely loving it! Just a few nitpicks about the app functionality itself: - Please add 30 second rewind/forward buttons. - Fix the pause function and or get rid of the pause screen that shows the movie summary. When I click play after having paused, there’s a lag between when the sound starts playing and when I actually get to see the video, which makes watching movies with subtitles really, really annoying when there’s no way to rewind except scrubbing. - Make the home screen display some kind of “pick up where you left off” option. It’s a pain to have to search around for what I was last watching.

Almost Great. Shudder has all the classic must-watch-before-you-die titles if you are looking to catch up, as well as newer movies and serials, plus an impressive catalog of original productions. Remember the defunct horror-focused TV channels Chiller and FearNet? This is a much more thoughtfully-curated collection than was offered by those two garbage cans. Shudder really seems to understand what horror fans want. I always said I needed a Netflix for horror and I am grateful that it finally happened. I can’t say I would recommend everything I’ve watched or that all the movies are “good” or even scary, but what Shudder offers is a unique look at the evolution of film overall. Filmmakers take more risks with Horror, and you can find some of the best talent in the industry right here.

Shudder. Shudder is a great horror film resource for all types of fans. Whether you are casual watcher or a hardcore devotee this service has something for you. The collection ranges from cult classics to more modern day mainstream classics as well as direct to video titles and ones you may never have heard of. All types of horror genres are represented here whether they be haunted house stories or stories based on ghosts, serial killers, aliens, monsters, zombies, etc. The app is a very good companion to the collection making it easy for users to find content whether by alphabet, collection or keyword search. The design is of high production value with atmospheric menus and a slick fast loading interface. Members can create and manage lists of films they want to see of keep in mind. Users can also set push notifications to stay aware of the latest titles to hit the service. The app also allows users to watch Shudder TV which is the channel that airs horror content. Whether allowing you to search content, manage content or subscribe to the service itself the Shudder application does a great job.

I am very disappointed.. I’m thinking I have no choice but to cancel my trial. No matter what I’ve done this app force closes on my iPhone. I can’t get through the first 2 minutes of a title. Let alone a whole movie. Very disappointed because it looks like such a great app and I was so excited to subscribe. It’s definitely right up my alley so I’m a little 💔💔😞😖😭 meh. Please fix ASAP so I can give more stars and keep my subscription!!!!! UPDATE: I’ve got it to work. However I’m extremely disappointed in the fact that you guys do not have subtitles. At the point of development I feel subtitles should be standard. Also your selection of horror flicks is a absolute joke. Do better. I gave one more star because at least it kinda works now. However I’m extremely disappointed and would never pay for this crap.

Great Service for Horror Fans. Shudder is like Netflix but strictly horror movies and series. Movies are all in great quality, no performance issues, and easy navigation. The service is great if you are wanting to easily watch scary movies. I’ve seen movies that are from the 70s to new 2020 releases. I watch on my phone and my laptop and have never had an issue. Highly recommend. There are only two problems I have with the service. The number of movies actually available. I’ve watched a good chunk of the movies on the app. To be fair Shudder does regularly upload new movies. Number two is that the reviews people leave for the movies can be toxic.

ABSOLUTE CUSTOMER SERVICE FAIILURE. As is customary during certain app updates I was signed out of Shudder. Upon signing in I was prompted by a message in a dialogue box to reset my password. Okay been here before too, no big deal. Right? WRONG! I was never sent the email to reset my password, I used the reset password button on the app login page...nothing. I attempted to login to the website, same routine, same lack of response. I went to the troubleshooting guide, and I was directed to UPDATE the app, App Store says it was updated a week ago. I provided feedback regarding how that didn’t help. I received emails asking for my feedback on the response to my issue. I asked the question, ‘What response?’ I told them my issue has not been resolved. I received another email asking again for my feedback on their response, and if my issue was resolved. No it has not been resolved. Almost 18 hours have past since I initially attempted to reset my password, and NOTHING has changed. I’m still not getting the email to reset my password, and no one from Shudder has responded or provided me with any guidance on how to resolve this issue. Great content....FU%&ED Customer service.

So Many Billing Issues!!. Their app is terrible. At best, it works intermittently. At worst, the service and app completely stop working, but billing continues. an easy issue to forgive, if it were somewhat easy to rectify. However, regardless of my repeated attempts to either fix the service or stop the billing nothing worked all customer service or IT related issues are apparently directed to a third-party company. Company clearly uses templates for responses that are insincere, cold, and most importantly, do not address or rectify. The issue presented. I am somewhat comforted by the fact that numerous others have reported similar issues. It’s unfortunate to see a service with such great potential and great content suffer from customer service, and IT related issues. I have been forced to pay for too many months when the service was not provided. I won’t do it again.

Incredible Value, Incredible Entertainment. I hate paying for a lot of things, mostly the things I have no choice but to pay. However, I am more than happy to see the Shudder deduction each month. This service offers some of the best movies, television series, documentaries, and podcasts available today. The crew at Shudder is on top of posting on their social media accounts about what will be available or upcoming. There’s always something worthwhile to see in their streaming collection, anytime, any day. The movie selection, the quality of the app, and the team behind it all make for an exceptional streaming service that no horror fan should be without.

Great Customer Service & Movie Choices!. Okay so imma just say right now I’m not a bot and this is a genuine review 😭 So I had shudder for a bit, I tried out the free trial but couldn’t afford to upkeep my account. I accidentally forgot to cancel my subscription and they automatically charged my account $60 something, which was my fault. I emailed them about it and asked if I could get a refund quickly because I do have other payments that need to be taken care of. They got it done within 3 days and 2 update emails on them being under review to make sure I knew what was going on. Not only that they got my money back within a day of saying my claim was confirmed AND they cancelled my account for me. Other businesses take forever to process refunds or complaints, but they were snappy!! On top of that the selections were great on their app, they had the old school and new school horror and thriller movies. I loved that they have all three original versions of “The Ring” in Japanese with subtitles! That was great seeing the original, it’s been a while since I’ve had an app this good ❤️

Awesome. I have had shudder for about 6 months now and all I can say is it Rocks , the extensive Horror movies from long ago to the new.. It’s definitely worth trying it out. My Son’s and I love hanging out and watching horror movies, they have everything, and with COVID the way it is being home , bonding over movies of all kinds ,opens up a conversation with my kids. And I also don’t mind watching Horror movies myself when they don’t want to watch certain older horror movies. So download the app , sign in and at least try the free promotion, then look at all the so many different kinds of horror they offer. There is something for everyone Darlene Scarsilloni 😈

Fraudulent jerks. Update: they got back to me so I decided to give them another chance. and all their suggestions didn’t work. Now I guess I’ll have to wait another month to hear from them. Ridiculously poor customer service, web design, and functionality on streaming apps. I stand with my original review, this app is garbage. Original review: Shudder has blocked access to the app and website from my account but continues to charge me for the membership. Several emails to their customer support people who have no clue what they’re doing, and I got one response that suggested I cancel and resubscribe (which doesn’t work) then they checked out without another word or any actual assistance. You do NOT need this app. There are multiple free movie apps with the same content, and better design, that aren’t so aggressively user-unfriendly and don’t require you to have an account either. Do yourself a favor and ditch these clowns.

I love Shudder but it’s ridiculous that there is still no Closed Captions on Apple TV. I love Shudder, but I hate it on Apple TV. There is no Closed Captions, I cannot watch Shudder TV because there are no way to add captions. Every other streaming app have them by default, I don’t understand why. I mean, Shudder on my iPhone and iPad have the subtitles on by default, even on my Roku, the Shudder app has the subtitles on by default. “When I say on by default is because I enable the English subtitles in the settings so every streaming app has English subtitles by default. I wrote about this issue almost two years ago and supposedly they were going to send my request to the developer. I love my Apple TV, but I have to watch Shudder on my Roku when I’m at home because it has subtitles enabled. I’m giving one star because it’s been years and it’s not hard as a developer to enable the subtitles if selected from the Apple TV Settings. It’s lazy from the developers and every streaming app has it enabled.

My favorite t.v. horror experience. The only thing better than shudder is virtual reality horror. This app and what the devs did is truly an awesome accomplishment. If you are a horror freak like me, you don’t want Shudder, you NEED shudder!! I just watched a shudder exclusive called Haunt and the sub is already paying for itself! Shudder gives you all horror movies from not only the past but present. Also they give you international horror movies which is a must have for the horror enthusiast. Shudder seems to be growing and evolving at a nice pace. So far I haven’t gotten bored with any of the movies or series and the apps presentation is dam near perfect. I do wish I could review movies on my t.v. The streaming is extremely fast and I absolutely love the graphics that they made within the app, like the links that move like there’s an evil presence. I do wish they would incorporate different backgrounds maybe even live or moving backgrounds within the app which would rock! Thanks devs for an awesome horror experience and please give us more shudder exclusives like Haunt!!

Not worth the $$$$. Many of the movies shown on this app can be found for free on PlutoTV, Crackle, or TubiTV. The original programming such as Creepshow only drop one episode a week to trick you into subscribing longer. Reputable subscription apps like Netflix drop the whole season at once and don’t need to rely on such shady business tactics to keep people subscribed because they provide consistent quality content. The Premium live Shudder TV is a joke because they stream the same movies everyday of the week at almost the same time every day because Shudder cannot be bothered to update the programming schedule. I was also offered a free T-shirt to resubscribe, which I did, and never received the shirt. I was hoping to find horror anthology shows like Tales from the Darkside, but it’s no longer on the app. Very disappointed with what once was a very promising Shudder app. There are also no subtitles and that’s terrible.

Love Shudder!. I must admit, although it’s not a *bad* rating overall (4.5) I would have expected it to be much higher. Not only does Shudder totally trounce the competition with its huge collection of horror, slasher, psychological thrillers, zombie movies (you name it, they have the category) - old and new alike - it has by far some of the best and most original series and movies, too. I love curling up in my bed at night and watching some of the most terrifying movies I can find, lol. Not only are the movies themselves excellent, but the app is easy to navigate. The monthly subscription rate is more than reasonable, and I’ve always been able to transfer the app to my TV very easily. No complaints here! A must have app if you’re a horror movie fanatic like myself.

Essential for Horror Lovers. I have a pretty extensive physical movie collection, so at first Shudder seemed superfluous for me. NOT the case. These folks know horror and what’s more, they know the history of horror. There are a lot of gaps in my own knowledge and taste that I’ve been able to fill in with this app. Lots of new stuff I didn’t know about as well. I love their streaming Shudder TV channels - great way to get around the paradox of choice I sometimes succumb to while scrolling through all the pretty thumbnails. The tv stations also remind me of the way I first fell in love with horror as a kid in the 80s: tuning in to the local station’s nightly movie, often horror. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t say that the Joe Bob Briggs all-might marathon didn’t forever endear this app to me. HIGHLY recommended. -Shawn C. MAJOR Tech Issues. I wanted to like this app, and I really did for a while. Movie selection was decent, and app layout/UX was exactly what a horror fan would want. But then the issues started. Slowly, like a creeping feeling of eyes on your back. I kept getting logged out of the app. It wouldn’t recognize my login info even though I was paying $4.99 a month. Then, I noticed something really wrong: my bank account being drained when I couldn’t... access... the app. I could feel my money being siphoned, without the ability to watch any Shudder films, but much like a helpless Freddy victim in any of the Nightmare on Elm Street films, I couldn’t do anything about it. I called, I emailed, I wrote letters. But no one woul listen. I was helpless. Finally, I took matters into my own hands. I struck back. I blocked Shudder from accessing my bank info and cancelled my PayPal account. That should keep them at bay. Hopefully. At least until sunrise. Never. Again.

The Netflix for Horror. SHUDDER brings you horror like no other service including solid originals. The 24/7 SHUDDER TV is whipped cream on the dessert and there are choices of films for any type of horror fan. However, the apps are infested with bugs up the yahoo. The mobile apps especially need work as once your review for a film reaches the keyboard you are out of luck in seeing what you are typing moving forward which makes writing a review less than desirable. Also, the continue watching feature needs some major cleaning up. If I finished a film then most times it will remain in my continue watching no matter what I do. Where I am at in a film or show will be very inaccurate which can be frustrating at times. Keep up the good work and thank you for an awesome app that horror fans deserve.

10/10 Worst streaming site ever. I subscribed to Shudder three weeks ago and it has never worked. I get an error message every single time I try and play a movie. I have messaged tech support and told them I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app and it still will not work. I sent the photo of the error message to them four times and they asked me for it again. Mind you, it took a week for them to respond and since then I have had absolutely zero communication from “customer service” despite following up with them on the issue. This is disgusting and a waste of money given I have never been able to use the site. Don’t waste your time, money or energy as they don’t care and will not get back to you. They just take your money and run. This is hands down the WORST streaming site I have tried and the WORST service (word used incredibly loosely) I would rate them a minus 100 if I could. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I’m still waiting on a response and a refund by the way if you are reading this shudder people and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

Good but needs more content.. I enjoyed the week of the free trial and would subscribe if there were more to choose from. Expand the exclusive and original content and I’ll definitely return. Most of the stuff I was interested in can be seen on other streaming apps I already have.

Love it!. I have heard a few YouTube’s talk about this app and I finally got it and I absolutely love it ❤️ I haven’t experienced any glitches or loading screens that just keep loading. They have different horror movies that you wouldn't see on Netflix or Stan which is great. I loved the series about the “cursed” movies 😊 definitely recommend!

Hopefully it becomes a real app.. Because I was so excited to see a platform exclusively for horror stuff. But, I was disappointed by the buffering icon coming up persistently through watching a movie or the stream. I payed for a yearly subscription and I want to support the service, but until this problem is fixed I won’t do more than an occasional check-in for $7 against my better judgement lol

Great service!. Shudder has a great mix of old, hard to find, with some mainstream, and new, never seen before horror. Interface is easy to use. 100% happy with it and would definitely recommend.

Rip off. Signed up to shudder last October, after a month Shudder continually asked me to join and subscribe to a plan all the while has been charging me a monthly subscription fee. I have tried to ask for assistance in stopping the charges as I am not subscribed, but I have been told that due to an app update my subscription details are lost. My credit card details however were not. They are continuing to charge my credit card and I am unable to unsubscribe. It seems very poorly managed, No support what so ever. They refuse to reimburse me saying they don’t have my apple billing details but say they are sad to see I wish to discontinue my subscription. A subscription they have admitted they cannot see, I cannot use but pay for and I cannot cancel through apple store. Scam.

Is it meta and actually the service is a horror show?. Signed up for a free trial to see if it’s worth it (being Halloween and all). You just get stuck in an endless loop where you sign up > pick a film > it tells you that you aren’t signed up > go to settings > confirm you are signed up > back to app > says you aren’t signed up > back to settings (you get the idea). Logged out / logged in / deleted / installed etc. all same result. Back to Netflix where I can actually stream stuff. Complete waste of my time, won’t touch this horror show again.

Clunky app. 2/5 App itself is extremely clunky and difficult to navigate. The version I have, for iPhone, has no way to search for content other than endless scrolling. Unbelievable to find no search ability. Also, when playing a movie, the wrong screen was enabled, leaving no way to track through the movie. The only way to restart was all the way back to the beginning. Amateurish and unbelievably poor considering the usability of other apps. No excuses, I won’t be subscribing.

Freezes. Hi I’m going to give it the full 7 days and see if it gets better but so far I have gone to watch a movie 3 times and it will play for a few minutes then freeze and I have to quit the app. My other streaming apps work so it is not my internet. Not sure what the issue is but it is a shame because I was really looking forward to this app.

Great app and customer service!. I had a billing issue where I had somehow had 2 subscriptions through the one account. I contacted them as soon as I noticed the issue and they got back to me super quick and sorted everything for me pretty much immediately. I don’t think I’ve ever had such good customer service for an app, let alone a streaming service! Would 100% recommend, I love the diverse content, especially the amount of non-English speaking movies available.

Good but there’s problems. The idea of this app it’s really good and there some really good movie but it keeps saying I need a subscription when I tried the free trial. I had to wait a couple of days for it to register that I got a free 7 day trial witch you have to do b4 buying a monthly subscription and now that I got a monthly subscription it’s doing it again. Keeps saying I need a subscription but when I got to but Apple ID and look at my subscriptions it’s says renews next month meaning I paid for it

Fantastic app. I’m so pleased I found this. Although I had a couple of tiny buffering issues it didn’t detract from the viewing experience and there’s heaps of movies on here that I’m interested in. Well done !

Great concept with films however cancelled subscription because no PS4 or ps5 app. I watch the majority of my content through my PlayStation... And the fact there being no PS app in 2021 despite them saying there was an app in development from 2019... Is why I cancelled... I'll re-subscribe when they actually do something with the money they are making

Technical issues. I can’t pause it. So I have to stop it and then go back and fast forward to we’re I left off. Pretty annoying. Otherwise enjoying. Or though I was expecting more content.

More English speaking movies please. I have liked a lot of movies on here but so often I go to watch one and it isn’t in English which sounds very uneducated by me but I normally want to watch something after a hard day and finally get to sit down before bed and don’t have the brain power to bother with subtitles. I know so many of the good Horrors are in other languages so understand why they’re there.

Aussie app a little lacking. Been waiting for this to come to Australia for what feels like ages! The restricted number of titles available, while expected, is still disappointing. The app does seem to crash more often than other Streaming services and it isn’t very good at remembering where you’re at. Still, the Shudder exclusives are good and there’s a moderate amount of older/indie stuff on here to dig through

Could be a lot better. I came across this app from a social media platform. I’m a huge horror fan, so when it stated to have the “biggest horror content/library”, I got on it straight away. But I was pretty disappointed in the end, it’s nowhere near “biggest”, you could read all the titles of the movies within minutes. You do have a few gems in the collection, but also a lot of old movies mixed with B grade movies. One last thing, when I signed up to this app, you guys used a picture of Steven Yeun (Glenn from The Walking Dead), but I don’t think you have any movies with him or The walking dead in your library. It’s a shame.

Great movies!. Pretty good, some movies I haven’t seen which is always nice! Glitches hard though, movies will play for a bit then load and load and load. Takes forever to buffer. Then it just goes out of the movie.

Quality content, decent app. I had been waiting a while for Shudder to come to Australia, so was stoked when it finally arrived. The only issue I have encountered is the subtitles. They sometimes appear in different areas across the screen, and sometimes the second line of dialogue will appear above the first. I also have trouble effectively turning the subtitles off at times. I get this is very minor especially when most viewers wouldn’t use subtitles. That aside, the content is less than the US version but there is still heaps of quality to watch. Netflix appear to getting on the horror bandwagon of late, but their handful of shows and movies can’t compete with the entire content library of horror you will find on Shudder.

Great service but buggy app. Audio and video can fall minutes out of sync, items are difficult to add to and remove from list, and it keeps logging me out. Good content though.

Loading problem but ace. App doesn’t load properly. The movies are great but few get added. I think it has more potential, it’s like a slow seep feel. But I guess my main worry is the app not loading.

Really bad don’t waste your Money. This is easily the worst streaming service, it barely has any content and almost everything on there is big trash. The movie just pauses by itself but the volume keeps on playing (Ik that it isn’t my device because I have used this streaming service on 3 different devices I own)!!!

Awesome but needs some fixes. Great content- the only problem is the app logs me out regularly, forcing me to log back in when I want to watch something. Also the app is really sketchy. I can’t pause/ rewind etc mid way thru the movie. It stops and goes back to the beginning, then you have to fast forward until you find where you were up to. Apart from that it’s well worth the minimal monthly subscription. Quality scary movies are not all that frequent on Netflix, Stan etc so this is a much needed addition to any horror film addict!

Took my money but won’t let me watch anything.. Been nearly 2 days since I subscribed to Shudder but every time I try to watch something I get told I need to buy another subscription, when I then attempt to buy the subscription again I get told that I’m already subscribed. Awful app. Avoid. Most of the half decent titles are on other streaming services anyway.

Disappointing. A lot of very poor films. Many not even in English. I had been looking forward to shudder for some time and I’m just not sure it’s worth it. Better horror movies freely available on Utube. App is painfully slow.. Oh dear who is running this show?

Very Cool. Great app for horror fans that I believe will get better as time goes by. Once the movie database gets bigger and the app irons out a few little gremlins it will be perfect.

Very Poor Support for Issues!!!. Shudder Support is the WORST support I have ever experienced!! They NEVER respond or fix issues!!! Why bother having a support ticket system if you’re not actually going to support your subscribers or your platform???!!! I have been subscribed to Shudder for only 4 months now and three times during that period I have had issues where randomly the Shudder platform won’t allow me to play any movie, even a movie I have watched previously! When I press play it says “Update Subscription To Watch” even though I already have a paid subscription, and when I tap on the “See Plan Options” my Apple device confirms I am currently subscribed! I have tried EVERYTHING, logging out and logging back in, deleting the app and reinstalling, trying my subscription on another device, NOTHING fixes the problem!!! The last two times this happened I received NO support from Shudder and the problem seemed to randomly fix itself after about 2 weeks!! Combined, I have already lost a full month of Shudder access due to this issue and am now experiencing this issue AGAIN, and AGAIN I have had no response from the Shudder support team except for the automated email confirming my support ticket has been created! I expect a full month credit/refund and now another additional full month credit/refund for this same problem reoccurring and the further frustration I’ve had to endure!!!! I would appreciate a response from someone, ANYONE at Shudder!!

Worst streaming service don’t bother. Has glitched from the start. Chromecast and other casting options don’t work. When it does work it’s very low quality. Customer service is not helpful. Seeking refund after being charged after the free trial because they make it EXTREMELY difficult to cancel subscription. Don’t pay for this service until they get it right.

Great content. The content is great but the app needs a few fixes. It has problems finding Chromecast and then it disconnects with chromecast so it keeps playing on tv but you can’t pause what you are watching. Attempting to reconnect doesn’t work so I’m forced to start a different chromecast streaming app to remove Shudder from the TV. Also it doesn’t resume from where you were last watching. If you fix these then 5 out of 5 as the yearly subscription is great value.

Better if it didn’t freeze/buffer all the time. This is a good app for a variety of movies and series ect but unfortunately trying to watch them is a issue as it constantly starts and stops with buffering/ freezing which is very disappointing. I don’t think i will be renewing my subscription it is too hard trying to watch a movie even with good internet/wifi

Poor library of content. I assume shudder is great in America, but as an Aussie there are practically no good movies. For example, I got shudder so I could watch Lake Mungo, it’s on the top left of their background when you subscribe, but it’s not available in Australia

Not mad just disappointed. I wouldn’t bother There’s some good content but the amount of times I error out or crash is ridiculous. Even now I re subscribed and there’s a new error preventing me from watching, just buy physical media at least you can access it when you want.

I downloaded this app as I am a huge horror fan and the first two movies I watched were fine with no issues and I was so excited to watch more, however these last couple kept freezing and no matter what I did it just kept freezing, I am so disappointed. I have now unsubscribed even before the free trial has finished as I am not going to pay for something I can’t use!!

Don’t waste your time. I signed up, the shows looked great, but when I tried to play one it claimed I wasn’t a subscriber. So I logged out and back in same thing, wasted 30 mins trying to get to open a show, more fool me, so cancelled my subscription, which luckily was via my apple account and not Shudder.

No video send on iOS apps. Great content - desktop version works great. This review is for the app and not the service, so for me on both iPad and iPhone I cannot send video to an external screen. No error message just screen is black - Both casting or with hdmi cable. Please fix this love the content / app is useless for me.

Stream to tv. Im having issues streaming to the tv. The app will allow me to stream trailers but when it comes to shows or movies, it goes to stream and then quickly gets out of it. Also had issues signing up. Signed up with apple subscription and it still told me i had to sign up. It needs a lot of work and bug fixes

It’s ok. Like other Australian users, lack of titles is a little annoying. Same kind of glitches.. app crashes occasionally. CC is only available on some titles so having that app-wide would be awesome. Waiting to see if more titles will be added (and how regularly) over the next couple of months otherwise I’ll be unsubscribing.

Horror Lovers. Haven’t watched a bad original show from them yet.... if your a fan of the horror genre like myself this is a must have service and really cheap 🔥🔥

Non existent support. Six weeks ago I discovered that I couldn’t watch any movies even though I was logged in and have a current subscription. The app says to update subscription to watch. I lodged a ticket and heard nothing for 2 weeks then I contacted Shudder again and they lied to me saying they have escalated my ticket. It’s now six weeks since I first lodged the ticket and nothing. I’ve emailed them another 3 times with no response. Absolutely pathetic customer service

Great titles but forget any support for Chromecast!. I really want to love Shudder. They have great movies and tv shows available to watch but unfortunately chromecast hasn’t been working with it for some time now and if you want technical support or even for Shudder to acknowledge any issues, forget about it. I wish they would do better because this could be a great service.

Omg finally. Awesome and about time , I am a horror lover I am in love with this app only problem is it stops and starts. I thought it was my internet but it’s not . Still I love it though has a diverse amount of movies well worth the cost . If you enjoy horror you won’t be disappointed half the cost of Netflix and much more fun Thanks Shudder

I was so excited for Shudder in AU. Sadly I’m finding it impossible to actually watch anything. As others have mentioned, the stream will freeze/become unresponsive and force me to restart the app. Often the same thing just recurs. There are no loading issues with other streaming apps. I have a weird issue where searching for a title will often direct me to a stand in page containing Loren ipsum text, instead of to the title’s page or even to something saying the title isn’t available in AU. Closed captioning is inconsistent, and I’m waiting to see how the selection changes across months, because right now it is a little lacking. For example, the image on their sign in splash page is from a show not actually available here, which is annoying and disappointing. I really hope the app improves after it’s been out here a little longer!!

Great content but can only watch on iPhone/iPad. Can’t find the app on any of our tv’s, Apple TV or ps4 apps. So have been watching on phone or iPad. Not the best but really wanted to watch some scary stuff lol Started off with mortuary stories and loved it. Look forward to improvements with the app and being to watch it on tv

Shudder App. I have used the app regularly and it works fine and I can add titles to my list. Occasionally it’s a bit slow and lags behind but it never crashes. Good work

Useless Customer Service. Unable to cancel the subscription through the website as I have no option to there. Customer service won’t do anything to help and just keeps passing me off to others.

Absolute criminals.. I sign up for a 7day trial and it charges me 56$!! Even though I never entered credit card info. Freaking criminals and I emailed support 3 days ago and still haven’t got a response. Don’t get this they are crooks and criminals.

Status bar does not go away- Shudder Is Aware. When launching app on iPad, the status details (date, signal, battery) do not disappear like other apps. This is a more recent issue it seems. They are aware of this and have had many complaints but have no intention on fixing it at the moment. The feedback will be ‘shared’.

Have to pay separate subscription for every device. Absolute thievery!! You have to get a separate account and subscription for any device you need to use. For iPad one subscription, for the Rogers cable box another, for Apple TV+ another, nothing is available through PlayStation. This is attempted theft, pure and simple. Shudder isn’t worth looking at, they should be shut down.

So many other companies would rather inconvenience you into compliance, but the team at Shudder seem to really care about their customers. I will definitely be giving Shudder my money again! Great product, needs improved delivery. This is an excellent product, and has what I think is a great selection of movies and series in all the horror genres I know. The app needs: - better interaction with casting (cast while watching, auto FF and RW, etc.) - more suggested content with each movie - SUBTITLES. Five stars after they fix this.

Broken app. Terribly broken app. Can’t actually connect to any tv via Bluetooth. Big waste of time and effort. Needs an updated

Ridiculous price increase. An almost $20/yr price increase is absolutely ridiculous for the amount of content we’re given. “Hey we’re gonna start charging Netflix level prices even though we put out less than a tenth of the content”

CONTINUED CHARGING MONTHS AFTER CANCELLING SUBSCRIPTION. I cancelled my subscription and after the service had ended THEY CONTINUED TO BILL MY ACCOUNT. Won’t let me play anything. I’m subscribed and you had no issue taking my money but every time I try to play a movie it just gives me a prompt to subscribe. When I click to subscribe again it tells me I’m already subscribed. This is so annoying!

Disappointing and a Little Sketch. I re-upped my subscription for spooky season and planned to only keep it for a month, maybe two, and ended up hooked on a Shudder Original documentary series. I was really disappointed at the removal of a lot of great content and seeing that things like Halloween were about to be removed, but hey, it’s the nature of streaming services. Fast forward to now when the Shudder Original is only available on AMC moving forward despite the first half of the season being on Shudder and Halloween is in the “recently added” section and wasn’t removed. I don’t know what Shudder is doing but as a consumer it’s super irritating.

App screenshare fails. I love shudders horror content, so this is not a review on that. This is specifically my gripes with the apps logistical irks. I want to watch shudder on my tv. Not my phone, not my computer. I want to watch it on my big screen but I can’t because the screenshare apparently doesn’t work with LG smart tvs. So I’ve tried prime, who I don’t like to support. However I found last year there was a delay in uploading Dragula on the day of premieres, so what’s the point if there’s a delay to the content being uploaded on a third party? So I went straight to the source and directly subscribed to shudder and sucked it up and watched Dragula Season 4 on my computer desk and chair, not my sofa. But here I am still a year later unable to watch it on my tv, either by screenshare, or a tv direct app (a PlayStation one would work too). Still only can watch on my computer which I sit in front of 8 hours a day so sitting down to relax for 2 hours and watch a horror movie is uncomfortable and a chore at that point. Netflix and YouTube have no issues with LG tv and screen sharing but still Shudder does which is why I gave them 1 star. Like cmon I WANT to watch your great content!

Still a garbage app. A year ago I signed up and had troubles signing in. They were happy to take my money but I couldnt watch any content. It just continually asked me to sign in so I cancelled. A year later I thought they would have fixed this bug but apparently not. Second time they have taken my money and I am unable to sign in through apple TV OR my phone. Shame.

Unusable. App crashes constantly in the middle of the video and it doesn’t remember where ot stopped. Also, the app can’t seem to remember subtitles settings.

Not available in your country ( Canada ) occasionally pops up on a movie which I find a little frustrating but I do find many other choices. I’ll rate again down the road. Shudder gives me shivers. I love the selection of movies and tv shows. I am about to start watching Creepshow! Not too sure about streaming from the website to my tv or from my phone, a little janky. But other than that this app is amazing.

Took $, says not subscribed. lol Off to Report a Problem & refund. Tried on iPhone, iPad, & Apple TV. Shudder checked all my email addresses, but are not seeing my subscription. Apple bots refused my refund, so I am appealing; always denied by prob bots; or close to it. Am emailing Apple's receipt to Shudder. A lot of work to get my $6 back, but companies need to learn. After Shudder received my receipt they want me to do even more steps, but I've wasted enough time and money. "So sorry for the continued trouble with your Shudder membership! With our recent app update, we’ve changed systems to improve performance and reliability. For a small number of customers, our old system was unable to export complete subscription information. Unfortunately, your subscription appears to be one of those. We suggest that you cancel your subscription via your app store and resubscribe directly to our website in a browser. We can then add credit for the remainder of your paid-for subscription and for any lost time, of course! The steps for that would just be the following: You will need to cancel your membership with Apple, and send us a screenshot of the confirmation email as well as the latest payment to them (we cannot cancel the membership ourselves as Apple uses a different billing system) Once we get those screenshots, we will change the email address used on the Apple account so that you can re-subscribe using the same email address, or you can use an alternative email address to make the process faster Lastly, once you make your account and set up the membership to the one you want, either monthly or annual, we will verify all is good and add the credit to the new account!" Apple bots refused my appeal. Not being able to stream a purchase doesn't meet a refund criteria. Good for mobile won’t work on anything else.. So after getting this through IOS I went and put it on my Xbox as well. When I go to sign in on my Xbox. It won’t even let me type in my info. I have no indication of where I’m highlighting. So I can’t get it on there, and it needs to be updated immediately

Paid for a free trial. I will be unsubscribing, and deleting app. Gave me option for a free trial, as soon as I clicked it, I was charged $3.15. I didn’t know you had to pay for a FREE trial. Did not say my card would be charged, until a month after the trial. Why am I paying almost the full price, for a free trial??

Doesn’t work. I had trouble with shudder in the past not working on my phone, it worked excellent the very first time I subscribed for about a year…now every time I try to get a new subscription it tells me to sign up for a new subscription…..wasting 6 bucks every time I try to sign up👎👎

Major Connection Issues. Honestly so disappointed in this app and the lack of customer service from the Shudder team, and truthfully surprised the ratings are so high for it. After using the app for 2+ years all of a sudden it will not connect to chrome cast anymore. I looked up solutions on the Shudder site, and it tells you that casting won’t work from the app, and to instead sign in through a web browser to cast. I did exactly that and the web browser wont even let me start a movie, and redirects me back to the app lol. Then I contact support and they say you can’t use the web browser to connect if you’re signed up through a 3rd party. Then why have those instructions on your website? Then their “IT advice” basically tells me to check my wifi and unplug and plug back in my chrome cast. Useless advice. When I google a solution these problems have been happening for years - what’s the IT team doing exactly, if not fixing this problem so paying customers can actually watch the movies on something other than their phones? It’s aggravating.

For a horror movie app, I expected a lot of classics. Friday the 13th? Nightmare on Elm Street? The Originals TCM? can you PLEASE add actual classic horror movies?😭other than that, I actually like this app, a lot of movies that I can watch

Frustrating!!😡. I never entered my credit card information anywhere! It just took it from my iphone and made me pay 50$ for A YEAR SUBCRIPTION, wich I never aggreed to or asked to get anywhere!!! I am super angry with this app, and its too late to cancel or anything, it just stole my money while telling me I had a "free trial" and taking my card information and paying a year subscription without my consent!! 😡😡 I didn't know about any of this!!! Very smooth way to take people's money without them knowing thank you very much👏🏻

Unfortunately infuriating. I’ve paid for my subscription and it won’t let me watch any movies without telling me I need to pay for a subscription. When I click on the “see plan options” button it tells me my subscription is already registered. Payment without service, super disappointing. I have logged in and out and checked for app updates multiple times but the app is otherwise useless and now has my money.

Great streaming service. I enjoy the variety of horror, thriller, etc. many quality Shudder original movies to watch as well. It’s a great streaming service, at a very affordable price.

Problem after problem. This service is great but I just can’t stand the glitch after glitch thing that comes along every time, for a while I was ripped off and had to use a different email to use this app, now I finish a movie and it still remains on the “continue watching” list, I love this service but please do a better job keeping shudder under control.

App is broken and they are crooks. I was enjoying the first 40 minutes of a movie before the screen turned black and wouldn’t load anything, I deleted the app and re downloaded it and it’s still not working, I also signed up for the free trial and they took 50$ anyways.

The worst part is the developer hasn’t seemed to address any of the issues people have been complaining about since the app was released. I can’t even cancel my subscription and it’s been almost five years now. Who wants to watch a movie on their phone? When you connect to a tv it just says shudder on the screen while the movie plays on the phone. What’s the point of that? Only a handful of good movies and series like creep show. Looks like everyone else hasn’t been able to cancel either. I’m paying every month for something I would use if I didn’t have to hold my phone with earbuds in for two hours.

Fix Please!!!!. I LOVE this app, all my favorites plus new shows and movies I have never seen…… BUT the app does not work hardly ever! When I log in it pulls up the shudder tv which is great, BUT ALOT OF THE TIME you can still hear the tv in the background of what ever I put on.. or it will freeze in the middle of a show or movie and when I give it time to unfreeze it’s blurry and kicks me out of the app. When I start a show and have to come back to it or restart the app it’s starts me over at the beginning of the shows it doesn’t keep track of what episodes or where I am in the episode…. Please please fix…. Sometimes I can’t even log in. I have this downloaded on my iPhone iPad and Apple TV…. Please please fix

Great selection, terrible app. I have both the mobile app and the app for Apple TV, and they are incredibly glitchy. The subtitles don’t stay on if you rewind sometimes, or even episode to episode. The “continue watching” does not reflect the episode you left on (currently on season 2 episode 3 of a show and it keeps playing in the middle of season 1 episode 1. Even tried clicking on it and ffwd through all episodes. Exit app, does the same thing), and often times, when selecting “next episode” instead of watching end credits, the app closes out altogether. Please fix these bugs. It does not make the experience easy or seamless if watching a series!

“WAS” very happy until now. I was extremely happy with this app until recently. Once this quarantine stuff started and they had their last update. I am unable to successfully login to the app. I have contacted customer support and they told me since I was subscribed through my IOS account I had to contact Apple. So I contacted Apple. They in turn told me that it was a third party app and they have no account to their information and can not access my account to help me. I only pay through Apple. So back and forth I go. Shudder support keeps giving me incorrect or out dated instructions to log into my app. So I have canceled my app and waiting for a response to my refund request. Hopefully I won’t be given the run around again.

Started off good buuuut..... Soo I started the free trial for this a couple days ago and I was really enjoying this service, I was happily going going to pay the firsts months fee. it ran smooth and has the best variety of choices in everything gory spooky and scary! but then yesterday it kept freezing and dumping me Out :(, and I have the highest speed internet centurylink has to offer sooo wasn’t a Connection issue. SO today I’m somehow signed out of my account my password doesn’t work and I can’t reset it I’m not getting an email from them at all I’ve been trying for hours. So upset I really wanted to like this but I’ve canceled my subscription, if I can’t get into my account I’m certainly not paying for it :(.

Love the app, one caveat. I love shudder. I’ve been a horror freak since I was 9 and accidentally watched the grudge on tv. Was I scarred? Yes. Did I love it? Yes. Shudder delivers all you could want and more through its wide library, chock full of well-known, rare, and original titles. The only problem is that with this app, if I exit the app to do something else (say, answer a message), when I jump back into the app the full screen has reoriented itself so that it isn’t occupying the entire screen but instead is upright when my phone is vertical. I then have to exit the movie and restart it every time and that’s a little frustrating.

A Horror Lover’s Nightmare!!!. Just recently, I’ve begun getting into reading horror stories, playing horror games, and now watching horror movies. So, I’m absolutely thrilled that Shudder is here to provide an ever rotating roster of scary movies to keep me up at night! The curated lists are a genuine treasure; helping me navigate the huge world of Horror by sectioning each sun-genre into easily understandable pieces. Classics like Nosferatu and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as well as a growing line of Shudder Originals makes this streaming service terrifyingly awesome!

Great Streaming Service!. If you are a fan of horror you should have Shudder. They have a lot of classic films and get some really good newer ones. They also have some really good television shows also. They have slowly gone up in price over the years, but they are still competitive in price to other streaming services and they have been getting more exclusives that make it worth it. They are always doing codes where you can try them out for free if you aren’t sure about it. Go check them out and enjoy!

Wonderful Selection and a few Surprises. I love this channel/app, and I took out a year subscription just over the holidays. I enjoy discovering old horror films or foreign thrillers that you just can't find on any other channel, free or premium. I do wish they would add close captioning however, since I would like to watch films on my iPad with the volume turned down when around my wife, who refuses to watch scary movies, or to just have it on casually in the background. Also, a 10-second rewind button would be handy too, in case I miss a critical moment or want to watch a memorable scene again.

Beautiful selection of horror with an awesome platform. I spent an hour combing through their library adding titles to my list. I probably won’t even be able to get through all of it in a month. Not to mention they keep adding new titles. I love the way they have channels running that simulate live TV channels. I love the collections of curated horror that is put into creative genres. I love their original content and the fundamental horror that is collected through decades. Just wow, very impressed. They also have a great subreddit that the Shudder staff is active on. I highly recommend checking this out!

Need less foreign films and more that speak English. Shudder is great for finding older movies. But if Shudder wants to stay relevant they’re gonna have to stop with all the foreign language films. I want to watch a good scary, modern horror movie or thriller. I pay a monthly subscription fee for this streaming app and am flummoxed as to why soooo many movies that I skip over because they’re in Japanese. I started to think that maybe I hit the language button in my acct profile by against. Every time Shudder promotes a new film I guarantee 60% of the time it will be a foreign film with subtitles. Ugh! If I wanted to read while I watched a movie I would rent a merchant ivory movie! The last thing horror fans want to have to do is READ and miss the visuals. Cmon Shudder. You can do better.

A few tweaks and it could be great. First and foremost, it’s a great service and the app is mostly fine. That said, it constantly logs me out and I have to re-enter my login. Not a fan. Not wise for a subscription service to waste my time. Next problem is with the queue. When I remove an item from the queue, it remains there until refresh the app or go back and forth from other screens. If I click the title again, it automatically re-adds it to my queue. Another problem is when going through layers of suggestions related to titles. Netflix gives you the opportunity to exit out of this quickly with one click where this app requires you to backtrack through back button pushes to get back to where you originally started. Last problem is intermittent service problems. This seems like a problem I’m seeing more lately. If these few things were resolved, the app would be fantastic.

Solid content, but not enough. They decided to go further than just horror, which is great. But adding like 5 movies a week, and sometimes most of them being the same series or franchise, is not enough. For 5 dollars a month I could probably buy more movies that I really enjoy than I would out of the 20 or so they release every month. That probably didn’t make much grammatical sense but you get the point. And when are they gonna update the categories like genres and lists? Same movies everytime I’ve looked for the past year. So you release 5 movies a month if we’re lucky, 3 of them are completely in Japanese, and the other 2 are poorly written, yet gritty, indie dramas.

Like the service, app and website have issues. When I remove movies from my list, 75% of the time it seems like they remain and aren’t removed. Movie Reviews don’t show up on the app, I have to load it in my laptop browser to view any reviews. They keep active links open for movies they don’t have anymore, so it’s easy to stumble upon a page from google which has a play button like you can watch the movie, but once you click play it says “the gremlins are working in the problem”. Also annoying is how the app frequently logs you out. Could be so much better.

THE APP IS BROKEN AND DOES NOT WORK. This app is broken and would not allow me to access content at all since it would not recognize the fact that I had in fact subscribed to the service. I’m typically quite relaxed and forgiving when it comes to the technical performance of streaming apps (UI issues, response time, etc.) but the fact that this was so completely broken on such a fundamental level is just ridiculous. I feel like simply allowing someone the ability to access the content they have subscribed to is how a streaming service functions on the most basic of levels and I honestly have no idea how they have so spectacularly failed to meet the bare minimum in terms of what can be expected in terms of software infrastructure.

What is going on?!. Supposedly recently Shudder went through an “update” and ever since then, I have been having issues with the app saying I do not have a subscription. Right after the “update”, I noticed it said I did not have a subscription so I contacted customer support and they fixed the issue. Again not even a month later, I am having the same issue. I have paid monthly and should not be having these problems. After reading other reviews, I am starting to get the impression that they are trying to find ways to get a little extra money out of peoples’ pockets. It’s unfortunate because the app does feature pretty good movies but it’s annoying to continuously have to contact customer support. I will be unsubscribing if it happens a third time.

Love the service, the app not so much. I want to preface by saying I think Shudder and the movies and shows they provide/make are fantastic. I have no complaints about that and love that they cycle new movies in on a regular basis. However the app needs some work. Picking and choosing a movie works just fine but multiple times once you start the movie the app will not flip to a horizontal view if you are watching on mobile. I have to close the app out and open again and sometimes the problem still occurs where it will lock in a vertical position and not flip to horizontal when I attempt to do so

I've had Shudder for a few years now but I was growing a bit bored with it; there's such a rich history of horror from all over the world, you could literally go from country to country, from the birth of film until now and probably never run out of movies to watch, but instead they keep adding frankly bland exclusives and series that I don't care about. But then came the return of Joe Bob and the marathons, and now his new series. We get together with friends and watch together, it's great! #TheDriveInWillNeverDie!

Great content with an app that barely functions. I don’t usually leave bad reviews because it makes me feel like a Karen- but this app is terrible. All I wanted to do is watch spooky movies all day and I can’t get a single thing to stream without stopping to buffer every two seconds. I checked my internet, as well as other streaming apps to make sure it’s not a user issue and everything was functioning correctly. This truly happens every time I try to use the app. It’s infuriating. On top of this, the interface is clunky and makes little sense. I wish my list was more accessible. Shudder TV is very cool, but again never works properly.

MUST Have Channel for True Horror Fan. I love horror but never seem to watch subscription channels due to long work hours and being an avid reader so I was hesitant to subscribe. When The Last Drive-In was announced as a weekly series I decided to go ahead a subscribe. While The Last Drive-In phenomenal, Shudder has so much more to offer, I have been amazed at how many great horror movies I had never seen even movies that were in the video stores in the 80’s when I was a kid renting horror movies almost daily. Excellent channel and love the app that goes along with it.

Disappointed with Shudder’s political virtue signaling. I’m not sure if Shudder was trying to lure in new customers based on racial divisiveness but, when they decided to make social media statements like “Black Lives Matter” it was a huge turn off considering people like myself use these types of entertainment apps to escape the unending tension on social media and the world. It’s not their one sided statement of racial divide that made me choose not to be a customer anymore, it’s almost the ironic nature of the film industry genre that they’re part of where the stereotype of “The black person is usually always the first to die” in horror films. I actually enjoy films like “Get Out” and “Us”. You know what you’re getting before you watch the movie.

Love the content. I absolutely love the obscure and generally under-appreciated titles on here. It’s wonderful to see movies and TV series that both time and other streaming services have forgotten. However, there are some technical glitches (like syncing with Apple TV and other Bluetooth devices) that could still use some fine-tuning. They also have a tendency to delete less-than-positive reviews about their exclusives or original content. They claim it’s because the reviews contain profanity or spoilers, but that’s not true. They’re just trying to control ratings to improve viewership of their products. But hey, it’s the only app you can watch Joe Bob on, so they’ve got me as long as they have him.

Like downloading a virus. I don’t want iTunes on my pc and membership is hard to cancel on purpose.. The only thing good on there is Todd and the book of pure evil. Hardly anything else worth watching and the originals are terribly written. Characters are moronic acting and their decisions make no sense. Worse than when the sci fi channel went full garbage for awhile. Not worth the hassle they made it, on purpose, to cancel. Do not bother. Do not download. I hope they go out of business. The biggest horror you can expect is whether or not you will have to get a lawyer and your credit card company involved to get this garbage service canceled. Not really much horror. Just an hour or more of your life trying to get rid of it. Huge waste of time. Do not bother.

Low res makes no sense. I am writing a few weeks into my subscription, which I just canceled. On the surface, Shudder might appear like an oasis for horror fans. And to some extent that is true. But it absolutely befuddles me that content is streamed in 720p when 4K is available elsewhere. If you invested in a nice surround sound system, be prepared to hear only a stereo mix (even when the film streams elsewhere in 5.1 or better). For the price of the service I’d expect a little better. Since I do have a modern tv and modern sound system, I’ll watch my horror films through streaming services that can offer a more theatrical experience. Shudder’s corner cutting isn’t working for me. Also, on Apple TV there is a bug. If you select a movie through the Apple TV app instead of through the Shudder app, and stream it on Shudder, you will get the video from the movie you picked… the audio from the movie you picked… and simultaneously the audio from a completely different movie.

Great app and great selection but..... Really loving the app has amazing movies on here. Only complaint I have is there isn’t a lot of movies or some has been taken off. I really love the last drive in but I feel like it’s missing movies. And one more is that if I screen mirror to my tv it will not work on my Samsung smart tv just only sound, but works perfectly on my chrome cast. Even with the few set backs and negatives I have found still 100% happy with it and recommend. It’s a working progress and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Must have for horror connoisseurs. While Shudder does lack a lot of new horror movies and popular classics, it DOES have a wide selection of slept-on and underground US horror/b-flicks, as well as a very diverse selection of foreign horror films. The tv shows available are also very good. The option of reading and writing user reviews for any movies or shows within the app is another cool feature. If you are a true horror fan, what this streaming service lacks shouldn’t steer you away from the many qualities it has in spades.

Great content, but buggy. As with a few media apps, Shudder has PiP mode, which is great for if I’m mid-scare and get a text. At least, it would be, if it didn’t cause the video to rewind and the audio to keep going when switching back and forth, so to keep it from doing so, I have to pause it, go to whatever notification I have, come back, and resume. Content-wise, the service itself is fantastic, with some exclusive stuff, some that I’ve tried to find elsewhere to no avail, and so on, but the app could use some work.

Love the service, not fond of the apps. First off, I want to note how much I loooooove Shudder. Even if the apps are glitchy and lack basic features that allows every other streaming service has. It has a great selection of horror movies and I looooove their series like Behind the Monsters and Cursed Films!!!! I do get frustrated that there isn’t a closed caption setting in the iPhone app or the Roku app. I’m not sure about the website or other apps, but I feel like all of their apps should have this. While it’s still worth the lack of features and glitchiness, itd be cool to get some updates!

Add podcast player. Overall this seems like a nice app with lots of content, but with 1 major issue regarding podcasts. I came here to listen to all of Video Palace... the episodes are available for regular download on podcast players but to get all the episodes right now, you have to subscribe to Shudder... that’s fine and I’m willing to pay but listening on here is a nightmare. 1st, it plays as a video and half the time you close the app, it stops the feed. Plus it’s using more data with the video than just the audio. Not sure why that’s added on here because the video is just a loop and adds nothing to the experience. 2nd, there’s no offline listening. I work out of a vehicle and only have service in town. I listen to a lot of podcasts but I have to download them first. 3rd, the app doesn’t mesh with car systems. I can’t pause/play the podcast from the system. I have to close the app. I’m not sure why they offer a podcast with no podcast functionality. I will be cancelling my membership until this gets remedied. Hopefully it will soon because it seems like a great idea overall and I’m sure the video side is good.

My favorite streaming service. I love Shudder. The horror content is better than any other service. If you are like me in that all Netflix ever recommends to me is various horror, drop Netflix and get this instead. The exclusive content is excellent and you get access to much more international content that has been so wonderful the past few years. The curated content is great too and I really like how you can watch a series of films from different decades in the same sub genre like creature features. Without Shudder I would never have known how much I love Swedish and Norwegian directors.

Why does the orientation lock?. The content provided is decent — definitely not a years worth of content, but it’ll keep you busy for a couple months. The iPad app needs some work. Firstly it doesn’t let you change orientation by flipping the iPad, and the stand case I have faces the other direction. Since I only watch from my iPad using the stand there was no reason for me to leave the app installed. Aside from that, a common problem shudder has over various viewing platforms: a lot of good movies are hidden away and only found by directly searching for them. The collection tabs are great but a LOT of content is hard to find unless you know what you’re looking for.

auto play for series. Love Shudder but this app needs A LOT of work. One of the main reasons i use streaming services instead of finding pirated content free online is bc of series auto play and saving. I’m trying to watch a show and i have to manually click on the next episode when I’m done. I would love if it auto played the next episode like every other streaming service. Also, it doesn’t save ur place in a series. On the series page it still says “start season 1 episode 1”. Ive watched 4 episodes so far (i think) so hey doesn’t it save my place? Once this is fixed i’ll gladly rate 5 stars.

High highs low lows (many bugs). The selection of shows and movies is phenomenal, great originals. HOWEVER this app is really buggy- sometimes audio gets desynced, video loops, or upon stopping something halfway through the “continue watching” feature just starts you from the beginning, and you have to manually fast forward to where you were which is cumbersome when you just want to watch a movie without 6 interruptions from the hamster wheel shudder servers. However the content is amazing, the platform could just use help on the IT side maybe.

A very worthwhile little outfit. I like niche film genres and horror/suspense is one of my favorites. Shudder is really just getting going but they are scouring the world for unique gems and oddities along with what they can land in the main US/British market. I tried them on a lark about five months ago and I always check them first before going to the big-name streaming services for content. While there are a lot of movies I would suggest they try to land from the older catalog of horror classics I’m still nowhere near caught up with all the things I want to watch that they currently offer.

App shutting down. This is the only reason I have rated Shudder four stars, the app just randomly closes for no reason on iOS. Shudder is the only app out of all my apps that continuously has this issue time and time again the ONLY application on my iPhone, and I assure you I’m not exaggerating. I apologize for this review....I’m just an enormous horror fan so it’s very irritating when I’m in the middle of a movie and the application closes . Please please please try and resolve this issue as soon as possible because I would hate to have to cancel my subscription . I couldn’t imagine going a day without my Shudder app. Thank you

Great service if you love B horror. Let me start by saying that you aren’t going to find many blockbuster horror, science fiction, or thriller flicks on Shudder. So, if that’s what you’re looking for, just stick with Netflix. Shudder’s uniqueness is the amount of “unusual” movies you can find in one spot. You’ll find most of your cult classics plus you’ll make new favorites. My personal favorite feature is Shudder TV which plays slashers, originals, and psychological horror 24/7. Are you a true horror fan if you aren’t listening to Shudder TV while you sleep?! I only give 4 stars because the apps could be greatly improved. The search functions could be more robust. Sometimes, Shudder TV just displays a black screen. Often, they don’t update the holiday theme of Shudder TV. For example, a Halloween theme was playing well into December and a Christmas theme was still up in February. Overall, I’m satisfied with my monthly subscription just for the Shudder TV aspect alone.

Great app, great content, I just have a bug to report.. I was watching Halloween 4 on the Shudder app last night and suddenly about an hour into the movie, the dialogue became unreasonably quiet but the sound effects and music didn’t. I tried restarting the app but that didn’t help. I’m not sure what other videos have this issue but it might be something to look into. I’ve watched multiple other videos on Shudder in the past and this is the only video that I’ve had this issue with.

Not worth the money. You would think that an service that offers scary movies would have actual blockbuster theater quality movies. These all seems to be independent or low budget films. They advertise it as something worth getting when it’s anything but. I am not very happy with it, so I decided to cancel my subscription on the shudder site but when I tried it offered me another month free and it never canceled my subscription. Another issue is that you can not access your account Ans subscription info through the app. You have to visits the actual website from your pc to access your account and cancel. That is another tactic to try and make it more difficult to cancel. Do not waste your time and money.

Huge range. I’m a horror movie fan for sure but I now have a new found love for an even broader range of flicks. This apps got the classics, the new, and the not so known. All different decades too. Stephen king movies, rob zombie. Classics like Carrie, and my favorite “Halloween”. Yes the first one! Even some old timey Japanese films! Never knew I’d even like that but it’s awesome. Oh and season of the witch was surprisingly good. If you’re a horror fan you’ll fall in love. I look forward to watching a new movie every day after work. I’m hooked.

Great Concept. I love horror movies so this was a no-brainer for me. I loved the “Horror Noire” production so I decided to subscribe. So far, I like the selection and recommendations. They’re some gems on there! Unfortunately, every time I use the app for the fire stick, movies tend to freeze and lag, which is definitely frustrating. Also, it’s not as intuitive as other apps so when I’m forced to restart, I can’t just pickup where I left off- unless I open the app on my phone. So they’re bugs to fix and I’d love a new interface for the fire stick app, but I have no complaints about the app on my iPhone. In all- I'm definitely in for the long haul.

Great service - terrible tech. I have nothing but praise for Shudder’s service so far as content goes: I love the movies, the curation of the films is top notch, and the new Shudder productions are creatively on the top shelf. Shudder falls dreadfully short in it’s technology, though. The apps are glitchy to the point of absurdity, the search function goes off the rails as though possessed, and cross-device integration simply doesn’t work: it makes the service feel slip-shod and unprofessional. I even wonder if the complaints others have about the content is really a tech problem. I love Shudder and will always keep my subscription, but whoever is in charge of making sure the apps get the content to the viewer needs a serious talking-to.

App lacks functionality. This review is for the app itself- not the streaming service. The app lacks critical functionality. At least on iPad version, when you click on a title, you cannot see see the description of the movie/show. All you have are user reviews, option to see a trailer, and option to add to your list. Similarly, you cannot change seasons. I am currently watching season 2 of a show on my Fire-TV app of shudder (also not great,but better than iPad)... On iPad, I can only see season 1 and there is no option to change between seasons. This makes it nonfunctional for why I downloaded it. Overall, it is a failure of an app.

I want to watch ur shows or give me my money back. Just tried to renew my subscription to this app because I watch it every time my favorite series gets a new season or if a new movie is out, this time i tired to rest my password with none of the emails going through. Then finally got in and renewed it, then tried to log in on my laptop and it didn’t work so i tried to log out and use the same password, it didn’t work. So i found an account with a password i know but i have to renew that subscription and since i already have one my phone will not let me renew again, this is stupid and i asked support and they have closed majority of my “tickets” and has been more than an hour since i first contacted them, try to be more courteous then maybe I’ll use the app more.

Disappointed. Shudder is something I seen advertised on Facebook & i decided to check it out . It has a TON of great titles nonetheless. But here’s where I become super disappointed. I have signed up and subscribed for the monthly payment due to the great that it offers. However , I attempted to stream it on my tv to watch some movies with friends and family and was not able too because that is not a feature that the app allows . It’s actually a restriction. So shudder is only usable on your mobile device . No where else in your home unless it’s on a phone or an iPad. As everyone does not have one of those either . Needless to say my usage for Shudder went from a 75% to a 5% witching the first week . They should really considering removed tv streaming as a restriction I think it’s dumb for the result I’m sure they were looking for. Thanks

I love the creeper features. I love “Wolf Creek” the down under serial killer series. It keeps u craving more with each episode. The more in depth the story I stayed hooked desperate for more. You want to know what’s going to happen next. It keeps you guessing, thinking u figured it out only to be side swiped into a whole different angle u never even came close to getting it figured out. The actors follow the strong female lead making this a great series to bring out the abilities and let the females get to show their talents in roles that deserves Oscar recognition for their great performance throughout the two seasons.

Sorry SHUDDER.... I really want to support this service forever, as a massive horror fan I love the concept and the app is put together really well (except the lack of options to fast forward or rewind, but thats okay.) They were even nice about me acting like a straight up Karen when disputing a bill for an account I forgot I made. If I could take it back I would. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star rating is the lack of content sadly. I’d like to see more modern titles instead of throwbacks from the 70’s and 80’s, or at least some more good classics.

Nonexistent customer service. I’m seeing that a lot of other people are having the same problem I’m having. I’ve had a subscription about five months and after this most recent update it won’t let me watch anything. It brings me to a screen that says I must change my subscription, but when I click to do that it says I am subscribed. They’ve taken my money for this month and yet I can’t watch anything. I’ve tried emailing customer service multiple times. I always get an automated response saying they’ll get to my issue when they get to it 🙄 and now I just got an email saying that their email service didn’t actually receive any of my emails. I like having this app but there is literally zero customer service!

Can’t access. I loved when I had shudder a long time ago, however I cannot access at ALL. I try to log in and it says it needs me to renter my password and it will send me an email to do so. I never received any email. I have tried dozens of times, literally, to log in and NOTHING. I emailed support twice, but get that “high ticket volume” crap both times. What is the point in spending money on movies that I can’t watch?! Update: have emailed support 3 more times and NO RESPONSE. It’s like they don’t want anyone to have their service! I would tell you not to sign up for Shudder, but it won’t let you do it anyway! Lol! Soooo disappointing because I used to love it, and there are several movies and series that I want to watch but can’t. Abysmal lack of customer service. Very poor business practice.

I love it, but I hope they can make it better in some ways!. Dear creators of Shudder, If you guys read this review, can you guys creat a way to search movies by ratings? Like most popular to least popular, and also I love the idea of the review section. Is there away we you guys can make it more of review and comment section, where it can be more interactive between us users? Anyways I love the concept, and my wife and I love the app. I’m excited to see how it evolves moving forward.

Love and Hate Shudder. I really enjoyed Shudder, they have really cool interesting movies like Caveat but I haven’t had much time to use it. I had a month free trial and was going to end the subscription but Shudder gave the option for another free month. I took it ofc lol but now I don’t see an option for cancelling. I checked on the website and I have no option and it’s a bit frustrating that I have to go through support and wait until they fix the issue when it shouldn’t be an issue to begin with. I’m not sure if this is what others are going through. I do love the movies on there but if its difficult for me to cancel then its a bit of a bummer for me.
