Bug fixes and performance improvements
Small big, though. After going through an audio, sometimes, it doesn’t recognize that I’ve gone through it. I run through it a couple of time but then have to close and reopen the app, run it again and then it acknowledges I completed it and allows me to take the quiz
The speakers sound jumbled by machine and not flowing. Videos are fine because they are authentic voices. But when words are machine generated not too good. Try for a smoother experience. Also PLEASE increase daily goal possibilities to 3,000 point daily PLEASE INCREASE DAILY GOAL TO 3000 points!!!!!
I’m intrigued that videos are offered. I haven’t seen that on other language sites. Unfortunately, you can’t actually use the free trial without giving your credit card for future monthly payments. I’m very interested, but I don’t give out my credit card unless I know I want to use the resource for my kids and I. I would appreciate an opportunity, even if for the day, to peruse the site and try my hand at it before giving my personal and payment information. (I don’t know what star rating to give since I haven’t been able to interact with the content. I hate for a rating to be brought down when I’m rating the administrative choices in offering the free trial. ) Side note: I have a high school junior studying Russian who has decided to major in Russian in college. A high school freshman who has taken an interest in Italian, and a 4th grader wanting to study Spanish. I wonder, when noting at the start of the app what language you wish to study, are we locked into that language for that email sign-on or if the app is fluid and we can switch between languages?
Really nice ideia but very expensive, especially because it is only a online content
FluentU really brings you into the full experience of learning the desired language because it’s interactive, therefore, it “forces” fun participation to speak, read and spell, quickly. If you feel that you didn’t quite absorb what was being taught, you just have to go back and revisit the content. It’s up to you how fast you want to go. It’s GREAT!
1. Be careful, this company will by default charge your credit card $239 for a years worth subscription instead of a monthly sub fee. We called our credit card company and they reversed the fee for us. You’ll need to go into your subscriptions and cancel it otherwise they’ll keep charging you. 2. Also, all these videos are available on YouTube free of charge. 3. This company is based in HongKong and their app is basically just an interface between YouTube and your mobile device.
It’s better than Duolingo, but barely. And too expensive for what you get. The basic subscription is really limited and to get unlimited is $240/yr which seems like a lot for what it is so far. So far the videos aren’t as immersive as advertised and are the same basic vocabulary presented like any other course. Also I have the same issue with this as I have with Duolingo, which is when the other language phrases things differently it only gives the familiar version and not the literal translation, which can be confusing when trying to build on what we’ve learned so far. For example: Je suis une femme = I am a woman But I am hungry isn’t je suis faim, it’s j’ai faim. Literally “I have hunger”, but they don’t tell you that. I took French in high school and am refreshing what I already know but I feel like if I hadn’t I’d be really confused by that. Especially since even in the vocabulary list it says “I am hungry”. So basically so it’s a really expensive Duolingo that’s slightly more accurate in pronunciation. Meh. If it doesn’t improve soon I’m not paying for it once the trial is up.
This app offers useful functionalities that help to practice listening and learn new vocabulary
Didn’t have the app installed and it began to charge a yearly subscription which was denied multiple times until now. Now I'm trying to figure out how to cancel because I didn’t want a subscription but there’s no way to even authorize if you tried to buy anything.
I enjoy this app. Great to hear contemporary spoken French and learn the vocab and sentence construction. Highly recommend
I love it so far (it’s been a day) but this isn’t a real iPad app as it only works vertically. Many of us use iPads with a keyboard and indeed want to type answers with a keyboard. I’ve invested a lot of time in learning to type Hangul and it’s really the only way to type in the text answers. I’ve developed apps and developing a landscape orientation while not changing anything else is a trivial endeavor. It’s a real dealbreaker so please invest in this.
I did not learn much from this app, but more importantly am finding it impossible so far to unsubscribe, therefore I continue to be charged for an app I do not use, very frustrating.
I downloaded this for my kid and this happens?! I can’t even get into the app just because of a username and password!?
Very good app for learning languages (I am learning Japanese). The interface needs to be updated for the iPhone X. One year on and still hasn’t been updated. Did get a full screen experience for 2-3 days however latest update went back to the black bars at the top and bottom. What is going on?
What is wrong with your iPad app? It shuts down as soon as I get past the password and only wakes in vertical mode.
Whilst I'm sure it's a great app, unfortunately I can't open it because it closes every time :( I really want to use it
An app is not iPad-friendly if you have to turn your iPad to vertical to use it. Until your app can be used on an iPad in the horizontal form (which is how an iPad is intended to be used) you’ll only be getting a one star rating from me.
I’ve used many language learning apps over time, this is definitely by far the most comprehensive and interactive apps. Makes remembering and absorbing the information more natural and interesting.
Really great app for me.
I subscribe to both Duolingo and FluentU and have to confess that I’ve only been using FluentU for a few weeks and Duolingo for about 18 months. FluentU is for an Aussie almost four times as expensive as Duolingo if you compare the cost of the premium access. I decided to try a year of FluentU and do the lessons in tandem when Duolingo was all too frustrating with a complete lack of grammar explanations and google searches were always bringing up good simple ones on FluentU. The app is excellent but not always intuitive to work out. The great strength is that they reply quickly to questions and are extremely helpful. Also there are far more video clips than one can trawl through for extra immersion and getting an ear for the language-considering the cost per year of language classes locally it is very much worth the investment:)
Done very well and worth the payment per month. Plenty of quality videos and lessons.
Literally every video is for premium? This app is so stupid???you can’t do anything if you don’t pay a lot of money???waste of everyone’s time. Maybe you should stop being greedy and think about people other than yourselves, its not about the money money money~.
This isn’t the way to go. You shouldn’t ask for payment right at the very beginning without giving the chance to the user to try the app for that supposed 2-week trial! Will delete the app now :)
I begged this app to take my money for 30 minutes, never got past the stupid free trial page...
i'm a former professional linguist and have tried a ton of apps to learn new languages. this is the one that has stuck the most, and the price is absolutely worth it if you stick to your lessons! i love that for spanish they bring in a range of language from across different spanish speaking regions rather than just offering dialects from one country. i like pairing this with duolingo flashcards app, which is free. the combined method is really helpful to keep the heavy learning moving forward in this app with vocabulary enrichment in the flashcards
You have to pay more for the quiz feature which is what really can help you even more and help you learn the vocab basically. Also it doesn't teach you grammar rules you just have to learn on your own sort of thing. But it is very good I have tried many other Chinese learning programs and still recommend this one
I was charged $249.25 two days after I downloaded this app. Apparently, I was charged for an entire year, even after the app proudly advertised “4 free months!” Also, I wouldn’t have bought an app for an entire year that I had never used before. I think this verges on fraud, but because the business can most likely ONLY make money by knowingly deceiving its customer base, they make it really hard to get ahold of them. I cannot believe that people feel comfortable doing this to others.
Not a good app for learning Korean
I have never had more fun learning a language. This is Better than a private instructor!
Really like the look of this app, it targets exactly what other learning apps lack - French listening skills - he content is really enjoyable and the game type experience is motivating. The con - an eye watering €33 euro a month, is simply way too expensive and not going to happen for many users of the free content (that seems to get trickier to use as time goes on), many people think Babble is too expensive and that is at €20 euro for 3 months. Unfortunately, i simply cannot justify the cost in my head.
Can you bring iPhone X support, that would be much appreciated
Amazing app!!! Improved my German dramatically! I would recommend this app to anyone trying to comprehend a language! It helps you with listening, vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar! I can't believe something so useful actually exists!!
This app is very usual Easy to use Relevant It's free too What else do you need !
Very clear and interesting， good for Pinyin and characters
I have been trying to learn German for a couple of years using the iPad, after giving up on expensive cd based courses. I use Duolingo daily and a few others. I give about an hour a day. I needed something with more extended listening, more challenging learning yet capable of helping a lone learner, whose power of retention is no longer what it was. I found Fluentu recently and really like the idea of YouTube videos, I like the enormous range of graded exercises. I am still on elementary and newbie levels which have sufficient variety and "meat" to keep me going. I love the revision exercises. I don't know how far I will get with this but I am enjoying the ride. This is an excellent addition to my attempt to learn German.
This app strikes a great balance between learning and fun. Very user friendly. Its creators show a real enthusiasm for language learning!
Nice application not having enough time to try it but looks good!
