Great alternative to iTunes. I was looking for something other than iTunes or Apple Music to play my iTunes library on my iPhone because of apple’s syncing issues and this works great. I really like everything about it. It’s simple, looks good, and just works and I don’t have to worry about my custom song files being replaced with standardized songs by apple. Side note: VOX has an equalizer that looks good and it is something that I personally could really use, but they want to put you in a subscription to get it. I understand that devs gotta eat, but I can’t stand the way every business these days tries to push me into a subscription. In fact, I absolutely hate it to the point of actual anger sometimes. I’ve dumped companies because of their subscription hardball, and will continue to do so. Anyway, I would totally pay a one time $20-30 for the EQ. I’m still giving the app 5 stars because it does everything that I want it to do.

😍😍😍😍. If you’re reading this for anything but the gap, this is not your review... I have been cursing my iProducts for a long time because of the playback gap. Some of my most beloved live albums... ruined, really - and crossfade is just a way to make it worse! I JUST downloaded this app and I’m in love!!!! I’ve been dreaming of the days when an album would play properly, and I’m surprised I never went on a hunt for this before! Happy I found it 😎

Works fine but I don’t like the acoustics. I got this to play FLAC files on my iPhone. It works great for that. But I don’t like that the app’s acoustics playback sounding different than my phone’s acoustics. I wish there was an option to just use my phone’s acoustics. Also, I am having trouble applying album sort metadata to albums. I have tried many different album sorting metadata values and it seems that VOX is not programmed to detect them. I prefer to put my albums in series order instead of strictly alphabetical order, so I use sorting metadata like “Album 1”, “Album 2”, etc. to get them to display in the correct order.

This app saved my music!. I use the A system, which takes total control of your music if you use it. They decided which tracks that I shouldn't play due to not being "licensed in my location". The real issue there is that the songs in question never belonged to Them. They were ones I ripped from CDs in my collection. The main reason I came to Vox was that A music was dictating how I listened to MY MUSIC. Down to causing my Classic MP3 players to become paperweights so I would buy another product. I paid extra for the storage since I don’t want to use Tunes to manage my music. Toss in that I have moved to Linux. VOX gives me the perfect solution for managing my music. There were some playback problems due to syncing with A music, but switching off auto sync pretty much solved that.

Poor features and very buggy. Songs randomly disappear, especially when uploaded directly to app. Some songs from albums show up; if disappeared tracks show up, the others then disappear. No playlist function. “Collection” feature requires tracks be added to a collection one by one, rather than a checklist (adding a single song will require several clicks). Extremely time-consuming and not worth the effort. No Repeat or Random function whatsoever. EQ requires payment or social media account. Too much prioritization and insistence on cloud services. Locally stored files suffer too many problems. I hoped this would be my go-to music app. Alas, it is the buggiest one I’ve ever used. If these issues ever get worked out (I pray for the developers’ safety, for their sake, during these extremely hard times in their country), I will gladly re-install this, and perhaps pay for premium, if but for the EQ (it better not require an internet connection). On another note: Stay safe, guys. Most of us will never know the struggle your people are dealing with. Keep up the good fight, and ignore the fascists intentionally giving bad reviews unrelated to the app’s functionality. God speed!

Be careful with subscription. I tried this app about 2 years ago. I thought I would really like it, and frankly it wasn’t terrible. However with the advent of Tidal, and other Flac streaming services it just didn’t seem to be worth the hassle. At that point I uninstalled it from all my devices and thought I cancelled the service. Apparently not, got a charge on my credit card, and after some digging, found out it was VOX. Immediately cancelled the service. Asked the company for a refund and they said nope, all sales are final. I received no renewal notice or any communication from VOX about the upcoming renewal. Sleazy way of doing business. So charged for a 2 year renewal for something I haven’t used for a year and a half and paid for another 2 years. Boy am I stupid!

$60 a year just use the equalizer...?. Let me make sure I have this straight. You want me to pay $60 a year. For the “privilege“ of using the built-in equalizer in the application? Care to guess why I’m giving you two stars? I’ll download the Onkyo product and pay $10 for the same privilege. Thanks but no thanks. EDIT : I appreciate that the developer took the time to respond my review however my review still stands. You’re asking me to subscribe to something that other people provide as part of the cost of the product. And then you try to explain it by saying it’s because you’re a small shop. There are plenty of small shops that do not stick it to their customers like that. I’m out.

Best music app for iOS. Seriously the best there is, it’s very fluid and I love the big album art. Just minor improvements: removing the 3 dots over the art for a long press would make for a cleaner looking album list, and a horizontal orientation cover flow like in the old iPod music app would be awesome. Being able to sort by album release date as an option would be great as well, I know there’s artist then year but just year would be an easy option to implement. Such a great app - thanks!!

I love it but it has one major issue. I use VOX to play music that I copied from iTunes, that’s my only use for it, I prefer it to the stock music app. The trouble is that if I at all open the default music app and then go back to vox even after I’ve quite the music app it’s jumbles up my playlists, I have to then restart the phone before I can see my playlist properly and I need to make sure that I never open the music app otherwise I’d need to restart again before vox shows my playlists properly. This is on my iPhone X, but it does it on all my older iPhones, it’s been a problem for a very long time now, and now on my iPhone 5 it won’t unjumble my playlist when restarted at all making it utterly useless to me. It’s highly irritating, I’ve left a review before stating this and still left a 5 star rating, however I didn’t get a response nor was the problem fixed. I like your app but this will be a 1 star rating until this issue is finally sorted out because the issue makes the app useless to me in some situations.

VOX - In a nutshell. VOX has the best ergonomics for one-handed usage that I’ve ever seen, plus the quickest loading times for songs you’ll find in any iOS music player. It IS simple though, VERY simple, lacking a search by genre feature and cloud play from services like OneDrive and Dropbox. In short, if you can look past these too shortcomings, this is the best music app you will ever find. Otherwise, look elsewhere...

Love this app!! One thing, however. First off, this is easily one of the best quality music players for iphone, and 90% of that lies in the beautiful parametric equalizer that can even make apple earbuds sound clean and smooth as a decent quality speaker. I don't even mind the free version at all, all the necessary features are in that imo. i literally never write reviews for apps and this is my first one, which is a testament to how muh i like it. The one thing keeping this from a 5 star review for me, however, is the fact that it scrambles my playlists or "collections" as theyre referred to here without my input and not on shuffle or anything. like, i had my itunes playlist, but when i tried to find a song when i looked in it, my songs were all over the place in the playlist. the same thing happened when i made a new collection in vox. if that gets fixed, this is easily a 5 star and will probably fully replace the stock music player for me.

Almost Perfect. I want to be able to see my Vox music folder on Files. So I can add music from other applications easily. Right now it only adds one track at a time which is frustrating when you try to add an entire album or discography. Pls add this option. PS: EQ should not be a premium feature. Some people need EQ as a hearing accessibility. That's not nice at all. You can always keep other features as premium. Sound effects, themes, dsd player (maybe) and so many other cool features. Make your premium app awesome instead of makin the free version as basic as it can be.

Almost perfect. I hope Vox reads this because their desktop app is perfect but their mobile app is almost perfect. I love everything about it and still giving it 5 stars except, I wish there was a 10 band eq rather than the 4 and 5 on the mobile apo. I pay for premium and the desktop app has it but if that mobile app gets it then it'll be prefect. Hopefully in a future update? Either way best music player out there by far.

Great in theory.. Update: Thanks for your response. Unfortunately the Vox App continues to crash regularly. Would be nice if you could get that worked out. Very unstable could use major improvements for it to be a decent app. I am in love with this app. It really does everything a digital audio player should. The only major setback is the cloud steaming stability. I find it crashes a lot. Hopefully this will be fixed with some future updates.

EQ held hostage. Once upon a time, Vox was a great app. It was the only one offering a parametric EQ. But then they bundled the EQ in with their subscription service. Ugh. I’d pay $50 for the Vox app to have that. But $50 a year with a zillion features that I don’t need? Nah. That is the antiquated cable tv model everyone hates. Please - separate the app from the sub features and let those who don’t need all the cloud feature just buy the app. UPDATE - RESPONSE TO DEVELOPER’S RESPONSE: I appreciate the developer’s review, but my review stands. A core function of this software that you offered for free was removed and put in the subscription version. I’ve said I’d gladly pay once for a version that has the EQ. I don’t need all the other bells and whistles. Please come up with a third buying option. One that doesn’t require a subscription. Just make it a player with the EQ, as the version I have on my iOS9 devices has. I’ll pay for that. Once. And if you significantly upgrade, I’ll pay for an upgrade if I think I need it. Please. For now, I am forever locked into listening on older devices. And that’s OK, but they won’t last forever. So, I implore you to please simply move the EQ function back over the threshold to the free version. Those of us that are older, on fixed incomes, and have hearing loss need to be able to tailor the sound without feeling as if we are being held hostage to a subscription scheme.

Excellent service for uploading, storing, and playing music library. It is surprising how few apps and services there are now that will allow the upload of one’s entire personal music library. Apple still offers iTunes Match but who knows for how much longer. Vox offers a great service: my library is nearly 600 gb and it uploaded fine and I can listen to it on all my devices - well, except for Apple TV. I hope they add an Apple TV app, though given where they are located, I realize that new features may be difficult right now.

Glitchy. No developer support.. VOX will not play any song all the way through, without skipping tracks or pausing the current track. I am attempting to play all songs locally, via sharing from Files. My situation is very similar to the one posted below. Please fix this. Otherwise, I will need to cancel my premium subscription. Thank you. Local files in my iPhone are about 100 discs, something like 65Gb. Most are flac, but some are alac. Problem presents itself on both cases. I started changing from flac to alac in case I have to switch to the apple music app to avoid the problem. Sometimes it stops after 1 song, or after 2, others it cam hold on for some more. When it stops, sometimes instead of just stopping after the last song it played in the queue, it jumps to another song in the queue maybe 1 or 2 before, or maybe 5 or 6 after the last one played; then it stays there waiting to manually be restarted. If I check the queue, it is still there, unfinished.

Streaming service with PREMIUM is terrible. So it has been a few days and I was excited to try this app to stream my lossless collection across multiple iOS devices. Being able to centralize my entire music collection across multiple devices seemed like a great idea. However this app does not stream the FLAC files without chatter and interruption over Wi-Fi (I did not even try it over a mobile network). So being a new user I posted my concern on the VOX technical support forum. Not only did the VOX community not reply but even a company rep did not reply. Useless cloud integration for a pay service. Useless technical support. Appealing UI. Intuitive features. Disappointing product. #TimeToCancel

My New Go To. I took a little risk and signed up for the VOX Premium with 2 year unlimited cloud service. The price was right and the research I did indicated promise. Sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t. This time, the audio gods were smiling on me! I couldn’t be much happier with the audio quality. In fact, I’m thinking about selling my two high res audio players because this app sounds even better to me. No, it’s not perfect. Sometimes uploads are slow due to whatever, but not enough to deter me. I have loaded 171 GB of mostly FLAC files, and have a lot more to go! Not all of my artwork is showing up either, but their responsive service staff has assured me that these issues will go away when their Windows app is released and I can upload from there instead of the website. The bottom line for me is audio quality, and this app has that in spades.

Like having a stubborn, whiny child on your phone. I came across VOX looking for a good way to control music from the Apple Watch. Their implement, for all the fanfare dedicated to being a one stop interface for multiple music sources, gives the bare minimum control on the watch app. Not a great fit for my use, no big deal, move on. But just to try this functionality, I had to sign up for a Vox account, resulting in 2-3 spam emails every day. As others have said, a lot of basic functionality of a music player is behind a premium subscription paywall, and as you might guess, ads for premium take up a lot of real estate in the app itself. There’s no option to pay a reasonable one time fee for a full featured music player. The majority of positive reviews suggest that things weren’t this naggy and abhorrent before a recent update.

The recent update has ruined some things 🙁. So I really love this app for its design and abundance of features, but the recent update seems to have ruined some things which worked perfectly fine before. For some reason, I can’t copy or open song files from iCloud directly to the VOX app anymore. No matter how many times I try, the song just will not appear in the app anywhere. Worse yet, the new update seems to have actually deleted a few music files I already had in there. And I have no way of putting it back. Deleting the app and re-downloading it did NOT fix this issue, and so now I’m at loss. And again, I stress that this feature was working perfectly fine before this current version (Version 2.5.3). I originally gave this app a 5 star rating, but had to drop it down to 3 stars after experiencing this glaring issue. This was the feature adored most about this app along with the EQ and tempo features. So I’m really hoping the dev team reads this and addresses this issue soon.

Very good music player. I use it on iPhone 7+. That being said, it’s the only good thing offered. I’ve purchased premium twice & still haven’t utilized it. Subscribed to premium June 21 and still reads I must purchase. Support has done nothing but suggest what anyone would do before contacting support. Asked for refund several times now. Trying to find a way to discuss problem with Apple. Don’t believe the false advertising that you need premium subscription to fully use the music player. Only thing I see premium does if you can use it. Stores all the hifi files ( any type near as I can tell) with unlimited space. I don’t use a laptop or desktop so no opinion on vox in Mac OS.

Almost perfect!. I love this app so much, it's replaced my default player! The EQ and crossfade options make this a fantastic app for my music library. I also love that I can listen to SoundCloud just as easily, as if it's on your phone too. There are just a couple things I would love to be features that would make this an easy 5/5! Firstly, track-by-track volume equalization would be greatly appreciated. Having to control the volume every few songs can get rather annoying. Secondly, being able to see the lyrics. I have custom lyrics saved on most of my songs, so being able to read them would be a big plus! Being a part of the tags, it should be pretty easy to implement this. If these features are put in, I would never use another music app on my phone. Other than that, this is a great app!

Good, but could be better.. The app is great, especially the cloud service. However, there are is an occasional bug that allows two songs to be played at the same time and there's this weird error that pops out every now and then. I also think that the search option could be better, it's a bit slow sometimes, and I think that when you look for an artist, there should be a grid option for their albums because so far I have to scroll through all the tracks of the albums.

Almost there. Out of all the apps that allow for music through iTunes file sharing, this is the only one that ticks most of the boxes while actually having a good UI/UX. I love that I can play Opus files and have the album art show up by putting it in the same folder rather than wasting space by embedding the album art. The only thing that I miss is being able to shuffle by albums. The foobar2000 app is the only one I found that does this but the UX is much worse on that app. This matters a lot to me as I often do not know what I want to listen to at a given moment, and shuffling by songs is less than ideal as a lot of albums are meant to be listened to in their original order. If this feature was introduced this would become my go-to music app for sure.

Glitch - please fix. The app bugs out a lot where the audio/video just completely stops playing and I have to restart the app in order to continue listening. I like to listen to calm music playlists while I sleep, but sometimes the audio will just stop halfway through a particular song or halfway through the playlist and will not continue. I end up having to restart the app to get it to work again.

Great sounding and looking app! But broken:/. I recently downloaded Vox. Newest version, new phone, newest iOS version running. Everything as it should be. However, the app CONTINUOUSLY crashes. I tried some trouble shooting, reinstalled, worked for about 15 min, crashed. Signed up for a subscription, thought maybe the payed version might be more stable...nothing changed, crashes about 3 min after starting...what I DID get with my membership fee is access to the Vox community...seems like a dumpster fire, TONS AND TONS of topics listing hundreds of screw ups and glitches. Some even having the developer promise a new update app version!! Coming in a few days! Only to have the customer say “it’s been 58 days since you said that?!” I’ve tried reaching out, but no response, tried sending crash reports, but it crashes before I can send. The website for the Vox community will redirect you if you navigate away to get reference material or numbers for a report. It also seems to crash just as much as their app. Maybe this app used to be great? Idk...all the full star reviews sure got me to buy into it. Massive let down.

Too many emails, app does nothing. Before downloading, and please if you are considering a subscription, read the responses by these developers. They don’t sound all that bright. It appears as well that they don’t have a good handle on grammar. and I’m supposed to trust you by subscribing? How much are you charging per year? That’s right a ridiculous inflated amount for features nobody wants. These guys are relentless. Constant emails trying to sell you their premium package. Several every single day! Really?? FYI, you get NO features unless you go premium - none, not even a little taste of how their app is supposed to make your music experience better, instead they just tell you via annoying emails. That’s right, no equalizer. Nothing. How are we supposed to know how good your product is? Not sure what good this app is unless you give them cash. A little advice - if you want to sell your tasty snack to new customers you need to give out a free sample. These guys are super greedy and will do anything to get your cash. Including giving you nothing until you subscribe. Deleting the app now. I advise you do the same if you have already made the foolish decision to download it as I did. See you in the funny papers Vox. Update (in response to developer reply): Too late. I’ve already deleted the app. You said it best yourself, “...our price model is not perfect...” Thoughtful gesture but I don’t see you trying to perfect it. Later.

Suddenly has ads. I’ve been using VOX for many years. Suddenly with the last update (March 2023) it has ads now and this is not mentioned in the version history. The app is good but I see no mention of the ads or if you can pay to remove them. The only reason I started using VOX in place of the music app on the phone was when Apple changed the app to Apple Music they broke the shuffle feature and it no longer shuffled all local tracks as a whole and instead picked randomly after each one. This was a problem because I had several days of music loaded and was hearing duplicates on the same day. VOX has shuffle implemented correctly allowing me to randomize my library as a whole and it’s the only reason I was using it. For the record, the ad I got was from Google Ads with the usual “do not show this type of ad” buttons, NOT for VOX Premium. Now that I complained about it they changed it to a VOX Premium ad.

Convinced!. Audio eq apps like boom don’t stand out like this one. That point alone will set the tone for the rest of this review. I own an expensive system in my car so I was looking for something better than the oh so terrible eq apps out there and I did more than an honest man’s share of testing and research and nothing came close to the near perfection of this app. Appearance: looks that kill! Performance: Like a banger! Usability: Simply put, that little boom app is a poor excuse of an eq app compared to this maamajaama! Bottom line: You deserve the best in life right?? Then offload and get rid of those terrible eq apps from the other developers and get this cause if you don’t then you won’t understand how good it is!

No Sonos, SMB support. I want a music player that indexes an SMB source into a nicely organized music library with artist/album art that lets me quickly browse and cast to my Sonos system directly or via AirPlay. Or, organize the Sonos library like I want it. I don’t like the Sonos app, which takes multiple taps to get to my album list, and only sorts by album title — nobody has ever sorted their music collection this way — rather than artist/year or artist/title; it doesn’t cache album art, as though changing album art is something you do so frequently that it requires refreshing on every visit. After trying about a dozen apps, this doesn’t appear to be a thing that exists. But that’s not the reason for the 1-star rating. Despite the description, there’s no Sonos support, or at least nothing in the settings that indicates you can connect to Sonos. If it had any degree of Sonos support, I’d have just skipped rating it.

Finally a worthy Stock Music app replacement. I’ve been searching for an acceptable Music app replacement for sometime now. I’ve tried everything and was about to give up the search until I heard about Vox. It is by no means perfect but man is it close. I don’t need all the streaming features but it’s pretty cool that it offers it. It’s smooth and responsive app, which seems to be really difficult for other music apps now. End your search today and get yourself a copy of Vox.

HORRIBLE APP DOES NOT WORK. DO NOT PURCHASE. I bought the annual & continuously had issues with the app freezing & kicking me out on daily basis. Would have to uninstall & reinstall app. Emailed customer support numerous times. ZERO RESPONSE. The main reason I purchased this app was to adjust music to 432 hz which app advertised- LIE. The settings do not allow for such a precise adjustment. So, ended up cancelling my yearly subscription & deleted app. One year later they tried to charge me another $55 for a renewal subscription. Tried logging into app to ensure cancel but app states I don’t have the premium & is wanting me to “pay for their service” yet again. Terrible company & faulty app. No support whatsoever.

Was useable, now is not.. This was overall a good app. There are some missing features like being able to shuffle an individual album while in artist view, which seems like an obvious one for such a music-centered app, but I guess it’s not the end of the world. However. The latest update seems to have broken the app. My hi res FLAC files as well as my CD-quality file no longer stream from their cloud service without massive lag that makes the app unusable. This is true on WiFi as well as over the air. It is not an app that I will be able to continue using it the problem is not fixed.

VOX review with one concern/question. Overall I like the flexibility the app has over most music sources. Good quality music. But the reason I cannot go with five stars is because of an issue I have with the Radio. I have set up some favorites and For some reason it likes to change between those radio stations on its own. I usually wind up changing them back. Tell me how to get around that ( or fix if it’s a bug) and I’ll go 5 stars. Thanks

I’m loving this app so far. This app has been very useful to me and I think it is perfect. I’ve been using it for a few hours and the only error I’ve had is that for a moment the song that was shown to be playing wasn’t the actual song playing. But apart from that minor issue I only encountered once, this app is great and I recommend it to anyone who has a large music library across multiple platforms.

Almost there. I like the simple layout and that it works with CarPlay. A few things that could make it much better: allow the option of a folder layout, for those who don’t want their music organized by artist/album, etc. It’s the main reason I don’t use the stock music player. Allow the moving of files from one folder to another, and also the ability to share files via email, transferring to other apps, etc... easily 5 stars if these options are provided.

Just Not a Good App. It plays music (including FLAC files), so it gets two stars. Otherwise, it’s unpleasant to use. The UI is poorly designed. I have release-dates on my albums, but the app randomly puts a handful at the top of the list out of order. When you select an artist, the app displays a list of all albums including all songs on each of those albums, so if you want to get down a long list to the album you want, you’ll be scrolling a lot. The now-playing display uses ridiculously small fonts with no visible controls, wasting a ton of screen space, but shows a scrolling “map” of the volume of the song which serves no purpose whatsoever. Oddly has “playlists” and “collections”, which seem too similar to justify both. I made sure to add art to all of my albums, but the app randomly omits it or replaces it. The app sends regular notifications, but they’re just ads for what the premium version would give me if I want to subscribe, so nothing useful. Seems like a high school programming class project, and not from the end of the year.

iPad update a disappointment!. I was recommending VOX to everyone who was looking for a player better than Apple’s, then VOX’s iPad update came out. I HATE it when an update is not as good and takes away features! The update has shrunk the size of the text of songs in an album, shrunk the display of the album art on the playing page, and has REMOVED the display of the next song in the queue! Thanks a lot! BTW - The VOX website has deactivated the ability to give feedback! So, I had no choice but to gripe here.

Was free now $$$$. I’ve had this app for years but honestly seldom used it as I prefer EVERMUSIC. I decided to give VOX a try again assuming they’ve made some improvements. Now it is SUBSCRIPTION ONLY. No thanks! I can’t even try any possible new feature to see if the app has improved. Then the developers give snarky comments to other people who have given them a less the 5 star review, developers stated WE WILL NEVER MAKE EVERYTHING FREE AGAIN! Stay away from this app and their bad attitudes! The app wasn’t great before, I’m sure NOT going to pay just to find out it’s still not great. Too many bad reviews to waste $4.99 just to try.

Great alternative to iCloud music library but missing key feature. I’m an Apple Music subscriber but refuse to put my local library in iCloud music library because of track matching issues. VOX cloud library is a good solution for my local tracks. The UI is smooth and uncluttered, and it isn’t buggy at all. The one thing VOX Cloud is lacking is the ability to edit metadata. It is pretty silly that to change metadata in your VOX Cloud library you have to remove the track, edit metadata in a separate application and then re-upload. That can be a cumbersome and time consuming process, especially considering how long it takes to upload lossless files over most internet connections. Overall though, a solid app, and the free version is just as great if you don’t need EQ or cloud storage.

Okay app. I’m pretty sure my previous review was deleted. Anyway, this app could be a gem were it not for the UI, which is not intuitive. The main menu seems hidden and to get to it you have to press a down arrow icon. What? Why? Collections are pointless if you’re gonna have playlists. I complained about not being able to give my music metadata such as a genre or album name in an email, but a music app developer seemed to have no idea of what i was talking about. I’m looking at the app now and when I open the Library section, I can only sort my music by artist, then year... that’s it guys? Also, I still have to manually add my music to my phone bc VOX can’t sync my Mac/iPhone libraries automatically when I connect my phone to my computer, but they do want me to pay for that cloud service to do it. I would not mind paying for Premium if small issues like these were fixed. Oh, and once again developers, please condescend me in a response... That’s how you get someone to pay for a Premium membership.

Premium Ad Permanently Over Mini-player. A recent auto-update has placed a VOX Premium ad above my mini-player, and there isn’t a way to remove it as far as I can tell. I contacted support but have not received a reply. I will happily change this to five stars once the issue is resolved, but it needs to addressed on a top priority basis. This practice is simply unacceptable when I have paid for the app. Edit: They have made this right in version 2.7.18.

Exactly what I was looking for. This app is exactly what I was looking for. The ability to upload ALL my music in lossless is incredible and well worth the subscription price. I’ve waited for someone to do this and I’m happy so far. I do feel there are some navigation issues that could be done to help, but I’ll send that to them personally. If you like high quality music and have a large collection then this is the app for you.

So close to being great. I’ve been using Vox for a little over a month now. Overall I really enjoy it. It allows me to upload all my FLAC files and keep them in one library (I used to waste a lot of time converting the files to play in Apple Music). The EQ adjustments are a great tool as well. My biggest complaint is it is very difficult to navigate large libraries with any sort of convenience. I have 188 albums by one artist, once I click on the artist in the library I have to scroll through every track of every album in order to find what I’m looking for. A simple option to change the view of the library or collapse the albums into a list to avoid scrolling every track would be a major improvement.

VOX Music Player gets FIVE STAR rating. Very satisfied with the VOX Music Player. Over the years, I went from listening to LP, to CD to my iPhone. I synced my library with I-Tunes, but my music library had been ripped in MP3 format. I have a good sound system but so much sound quality is lost in compressed formats. I heard about high-definition music but when I found out I needed special software to play it I just gave up. Then I found VOX. I found free software from the web and I’m ripping all my CDs in FLAC format and uploading them to my VOX library. It’s so simple. Now, with a little help from an Apple compatible DAC, I listen to music in all of its glory. Don’t let anyone tell you that there’s no difference; there is a big sound quality difference. Vox instantly syncs what I upload from my PC to my iPhone; the app even has an excellent parametric equalizer that helps me adjust my music to the listening environment. I’m somewhat technically challenged so when I reached out to the VOX developer, I received the same day response to my questions. How does it get any better? VOX gets FIVE-STARS!

Great HiFi Beginner Pick. Pro's: - by far most intuitive interface I've come across for a FLAC app - reliable automatic album organization - premium gives you unlimited cloud storage Con's: - ALL audio settings require premium - Premium is hilariously overpriced for anyone not interested in cloud storage For someone just starting to get into FLAC music, I highly recommend this admittedly sleek and sexy app. However, unless you like annoying emails, I highly advise you NOT to create an account. If you want premium, I'd recommend you make one with an extra email you don't care about. Unless you can't live without gapless and crossfade won't do, I can't see any reason to recommend this app over ONKYO's for people with at least moderate experience. That said, if the audio features were either made free or accessible via a one time payment, I'd change my tune in a heartbeat. It's sad that such a nice looking app gets held back by (what at least seems to be) corporate greed.

Doesn’t work for Grateful Dead collectors. I’ve been using this app now for a while, trying to get it to function for what I need it for, but I’ve had no luck and support is more than useless. The big issue here is that, if you want to upload a lot of music from one artist, VOX frequently gets tracks confused if they’re named the same thing (i.e. 1-01 Promised Land) and live shows won’t upload correctly. Ive loaded over 8,000 Grateful Dead songs into my iTunes library and have had zero issues or mixups. After about 40 albums the app refuses to let me input anymore of my music, loading it all into an Untitled folder. I would love to use this app to load all of my Grateful Dead collection into for hi-res listening, but it simply just does not function well enough to do that. Unfortunately, there are practically no other good options for FLAC listening, so I guess I’m sticking with iTunes.

Glitchy uploads from Mac Ventura, but great once done. I did a very negative review here some weeks ago (weird - I can’t find it now to update so I’m doing this new one) but I am here now to say that I like the VOX system quite a bit. If you’ve got a very large library of songs then VOX is the only thing out there which allows you to keep all of your music files and play them in their original form from all of your devices. My original negative review was because the VOX app had locked up permanently on my Mac which runs Ventura. I couldn’t upload anything, and I couldn’t make the app do anything even after removing and reinstalling it. Then I discovered a beta version called VOX Universal and thought what the heck I’ll try it. That fixed everything on the Mac and it uploaded my first batch of music which is over a TB. I’ll eventually have over two TB’s of music stored on their server for no additional cost. That’s a fantastic bargain, and it all runs on my devices (couple of iPhones and iPads) smooth as silk. The audio quality is excellent with ability to adjust EQ and cross fades. I couldn’t be happier. The reason it’s four instead of five stars is that it was so glitchy on the newer Mac Ventura. Trying to get the app to run on my Mac was infuriating until I found the solution. I thought I had wasted my money which I paid a year up front, but now that the songs are uploaded it’s amazing. I totally recommend.

Just what I wanted, and NO ADS!!!. A solid music player and organizer, VOX lets you organize music by creating collections (playlists) and editing the order of your songs within each playlist. You can also find all your songs in the Library and listen to them all straight from there. Just as advertised there are no ads, which is essential in my opinion! My only complaint is that you can only import one song at a time, so it does take a while to copy your music into VOX. But once all your music is transferred, you are home free with no adds or WiFi required to listen to your music!

Definitely the best Flac player for the iPhone. Am using this app to play my CD quality flac files on my iPhone 7 Plus. It's definitely better than any other flac app. I also like how you can create playlists and move the songs around in the playlist on the phone. Nice touch.

Awesome. This app does an amazing job of rolling my iTunes and Soundcloud libraries into one easy to access app. The menus take a little getting used to coming from the Mac, but overall very impressed.

Add sort by 'title' option. Good app

Crashes when opening and has for over a year. I want to love this app. And I just can’t because it can only successfully open it maybe once out of every 8 times I try.

“Pasted from”, crashes & unloaded music files. Why is this app pasting my copied text every time I go into the app.. sounds like a invasion of privacy (thanks iOS 14-16 feature). What’s the worst thing a music app can do ? CRASH… this is the last thing should happen. ”Loading music” (not all) “Viewing filtered content”>”Show All” Failure. This app is buggy, it buffers a lot with offline music… this app is trash. I’m going inspired to make my own hi res app.

Best music app. I have using the desktop app for awhile and I absolutely love it. The iPhone app is amazing too. I hate the Apple Music app is just rubbish. 😍another feature that I love about this app is that it remember the current playing position even after a restart which is absolutely amazing as I have long lectures and audio files that I Listen to and most of the time I remove the app from the background. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Best music app I've tried so far. There isn't much to say other than what's already in the title, although a slight change I would suggest is to add an option to list individual tracks by title rather than artist or date of download.

Simple and great!. I discovered the desktop version a few years ago and loved it, this lets me take that experience to my mobile devices.

Bright, Brilliant, Beautiful. Very nice clean visuals easy controls and best of all beautiful audio. Sad to say it leaves iTunes for dead as far as sound quality is concerned and that's all you need to know.

Only player I need. Been using vox on desktop and iOS for over a year now, initially tried it because I needed something to replace iTunes. It doesn't have any of the skipping issues that iTunes was suffering from, and I haven't come across any other consistent bugs. The developers release frequent updates. Couldn't be happier.

Great App. Reason for 3 stars is that it lags and sometimes playlists dont load at all I'm on iPhone 6 Otherwise great app

Once was great.. Feel like enjoying spam in your inbox (every two days) and need to rely on a web interface that sadly didn’t work? This is the APP for you! Once this was my favourite way to play FLAC with high end cans that could use it. Now, getting music on my device simply doesn’t happen and I get garbage in my inbox daily. What it does work with, it does well. It as a secondary interface for my Apple Music, it seems bloatedly expensive for a subscription.

Good app but glitches. I love the app but some artists which so up on the Qobuz app don’t show up on this app and the app regularly glitches and the app closes, I’d like the app to not close all the time, I’d like it to show more artists and for it to have a 3D sound option.

Bluetooth. This would be a 5-star review if it weren’t for my ongoing Bluetooth issues. No matter whether it’s my car, Bose wireless headphones or a Bluetooth DAC, this app crashes CONSTANTLY when using Bluetooth. Even just having Bluetooth turned on causes it to crash. Basically unusable in its current state. I’m using na iPhone 11 and have spoken with the support team but I don’t know if anyone else with the same issues. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled more times than I can count. It will work for a while and then return to old behaviour. Very frustrating.

Ripped off. Cancelled the subscription back in July and they are still charging. Buyer be ware. Feels like I have been scammed

Really needs Multiplatform support. Awesome app, does a wicked job-BUT it is *Still* not developed properly for iPad (eg, runs as a phone app). Would be awesome to see this app do so much more on an iPad in regard to app playback and sound tweaking/functions and overall ease of use!

Not so offline but nice media player. --Update 2: Over all nice and pleasant to use, The UX on library context menu is a bit annoying, it is too sensitive, with a quick of touch it just go away. Need to do that few times to get actual changes done. Looking forward to improvements. --Update1: Data usage/Internet/Privacy concerns was explained by Developer. Thanks. --Original: I have local musics but seems like there are non-stop internet traffic running at the background. Every time i pull down library to access settings screen, i can see active internet spinning next to cell/wifi icon. What is it doing? what/where data go and for what? I am not singing into any other account. No reason why it should send anything out of my device. Despite the app is great, privacy still a top priority and to gain trust.

iPhone X & ios11.1.1 is an issue. Used VOX for a long time and really really like it but started using it on iPhone X iOS 11.1.1 and it crashes all the time. I assume the developers will get it sorted but till then it’s unusable. When fixed it will be back to 5 stars.

Need multiple selection. There is no option to select single or all songs to add the collections. I have to add each by each, which takes time and is not smart. Also, I highly recommend VOX can show up all songs like iOS native music player instead of player all.

DISGUSTING RIP OFF!!!. I couldn’t access my music for over a year!! They kept emailing me, telling me they would fix it and fix me up. But they never did. I spent over a year chasing them for my refund for a service they never provided. I am now having to go through legal means to get my refund. DONT EVER GET THIS APP FROM THESE SCAMMERS!! RIP OFF, worst customer service ever!!!

Quality!!. I've had hi res music for years and never been able to enjoy them at friends houses but this just made it a million times easier!!

Great experience!!!!. Tried so many music apps mainly to play flac files all were missing some things and almost gave up but Vox just ticks all the boxes for me it just works out the box so effortlessly and it's free

Disappointingly Limited. I’ve been using Vox for a couple months and while it does a lot of things I love (remembering playback queue primarily) the interface is incredibly basic and limited. It’s a bit strange to have a music app in 2019 not let you sort by genre or year. It’s generally cumbersome trying to browse through a large library. It’d be nice to be able to customise the UI a bit, eg. Disable Soundcloud like seekbar, remove the arrow in the artwork come to mind. Has a lot of potential but it’s still less annoying than Apple Music.

I don’t want cloud. I used this for years but now it keeps asking me to login to use the cloud every 30 seconds, I have gone through the settings to turn of the cloud function but still it asks me to login.

No Siri. Seems like a nice app, but it doesn’t link to Siri, getting Siri to play a specific song in vox is … difficult. If impossible. I just want an app that will play all my songs, not lose any of them, and be voice controlled when I’m driving. Also not constantly mis hear me and start promoting a paid subscription like Apple Music.

What’s happening to this app?. I’ve been a long time Vox user. Like others I feel that the subscription price is OTT! Meanwhile, I’ve been getting very frequent emails offering me a “lifetime” subscription if I invest in the future of the app. Judging from the poor spelling and grammatical errors (why not pay someone to do gramma check?) in the emails and marketing content, and that the company seems to be miles off its target raise, I’d say their greedy subscription fees have caused them potential failure as a business model. Shame, as the software has always shown great promise.

Songs keep disappearing. My songs keep disappearing. I always need to force close the app and reopen a few times for those songs to show and after playing for a while they disappeared again. Very frustrating.

Best sounding & looking music player on iOS!. For people looking for a high-quality audio music player on their iOS device, that displays the album art with no borders, as well as waveforms like on Soundcloud, that is also FREE - this app is for you! If you’re like me and still drag & drop files from your computer’s library, and want to hear your music in the best sound quality for iPhone, you’ll defs love this app.

Disappointed.. This was a decent app once. Now that you have to pay a large amount of money for subscription just to access something as simple as the EQ is very disappointing. Just pure greed as the EQ was free once. I have now deleted this app as I have and use another free music player app that provides an EQ, has a better sound engine plus more features for no extra charge. Bring back the EQ as a free feature and I’ll happily use it again.

Good app, slow development.. I have no issue with Vox on iPhone and OSX, however I simply cannot believe their is NO version designed for the iPad UI and the Windows version is nowhere to be seen. DO they not realise that ubiquity is key. Things must be worryingly tough over there at Vox HQ! Tell me it ain’t so!

Great. Well, now that the current version doesn't cause my 6 to overheat and crash after 3-4mins, this is great, eagerly awaiting your windows version.

Sort function. The music track sort function isn't really good. It can view by track or album and this is fine. But the point is after I view as track, it only can sort by Recently Add or Artist Then Year. The only thing that I want is be able to sort by title when view as track, that's all. This is a good app to listen to music tho, thank you :)

Does not play all my likes tracks on soundcloud. Was really into this app. I even purchased a subscription. Unfortunately it doesn’t play all my liked tracks on soundcloud and skips half my playlist. Which has made it unusable for me as I don’t use any other streaming service. As soon as this is fixed I’ll be back.

Waste of money.. Cloud storage is not reliable. Radio links not working. Support service is terrible. Lost customer 👎

$49 a year?!?!?. You have to be fing kidding!!!!

Very buggy. Crashes every 10 seconds (and this is on an iPhone XS Max). Shame though, great sounds on ALAC files.

Locked features behind subscription. This app used to be great, but since they updated it, my soundcloud songs no longer work, and I can’t access the advanced sound settings I used to be able to before they updated Unless you’re up for paying a monthly subscription for old features we used to have, I don’t recommend this app.

Another Subscription. Not signing up for another service just to access the EQ controls. Sorry. Its just too much money to have an ongoing cost. It’s good software, but I cannot afford to have another service. The Onkyo app does the same for $15 one time.

Good before horrible now. I've been a long time vox user but they have recently released an update that restricts access to the equaliser unless you have a paid membership. Extremely disappointed. Vox app has been permanently deleted from my iPhone.

Great player!!! WORKS FLAWLESSLY. The app is fantastic, it will play all sorts of files including FLAC and MP3 which is the most important. One REALLY ANNOYING feature i hope they fix is that you cannot sort the songs alphabetically when viewing tracks.... really weird... other than that it's as close to poweramp as you can get on an iphone.

a beautifyl player!. with various radio stations

Constantly crashes on iOS 13 / iPhone XS. App worked perfectly the first time on phone but after I added some flac tracks via file sharing in iTunes, I reopened the app where it begins to scan for new music and 10 seconds later, it crashes. Don’t have any such issue with the iPad version.

Shuffle all doesn’t work. Keep playing the same song

Features cut from free version. This used to be a good app if all you needed was decent eq and a better interface for playing music in the car. Now they have removed the eq from the free version and want you to pay for a rather expensive subscription for features you may not want. The app also had a lot of issues with crashing but I was willing to put up with that considering it was free. Pretty silly move from the developer. App is now deleted. Looking for something better.

Lacks Finesse. Good in principle but is loaded with bugs and support is none existent. Forever having to sign out and sign back in again just to get it to sync with uploaded music and collections. For the price charged this sort of stuff shouldn't happen. As for support ..... don't waste your time

Buggy. Keeps crashing when I’m playing songs. Definitely not worth paying for.

Great app. Simple, intuitive. Great performance. If your looking to stream hi def tracks, or wanna have all your music in one place? This is the app for you.

Change to track view. New update doesn’t display artwork in track view.

A good alternate to Apple’s player. Vox is probably a the best alternative to Apple’s native player. Playback in all formats is excellent. The minimal look and feel is stylish. The UX is a little clunky and lacks features which you’d assume wouldn’t be too difficult to include (e.g. album sorting options, such as ‘sort album by year’). Creating playlists is quite long winded and click heavy. I did have an account but permanently logged out because I kept getting ads for the premium service. Overall this is a great app, and it looks nice.

Vox Player. This app has good feature and is an easy use. It also produces a relatively good sound quality. My big problem with it is it regularly places a wrong album cover when I upload or share music to it, even really well known albums get an incorrect album cover, and often a single album cover is repeatedly used making selecting an album really confusing. This, for my part really lets a good app down and has reduced what would otherwise be a 5 star rating from me. Have tried to remedy by sending jpg’s of the actual correct cover but it makes no difference, ultimately you have no control over which cover the app attaches to your album, extremely frustrating.

Disappointing experience :(. Disappointing app, whenever I pause music and switch away to other apps/close (iPhone) and come back to VOX - it says it’s playing my last song but no audio (play/pause have no effect), I have to go back to the library, find the song and skip forward to where I think I got to last and then play.

Youtube?. I like this app a lot. It used to have Youtube search+streaming. I understand the removal of that but is it going to come back?

The version 2.7.19 doesn’t work. The version 2.7.19 just doesn’t work. It gets frozen after start. iPhone 11 Pro, iOS 16.4.1(a)

Removed free EQ. Other apps that play flac have.

Use foobar2000 instead. Software is basic, but it played my flax files fine so I was ok with it. For some reason this app will not output to my bluetooth headphone (Sony WH1000XM2) going back to foobar2000. Where I have options. And will output to my bluetooth headphones.

The *best* audio player for iPhones and audiophile headphones. Everything about VOX is so well done: the layout, options, interface, just everything. Best of all, it can play hi-res tracks perfectly, with the option of a solid EQ to tweak the sound to match your cans, and has BS2B presets!

Record/Download feature. When this app was in it's alpha and beta phase it had a record/Download feature in the Soundcloud section. This has changed since the  store version was released. Also, it crashes frequently. I can deal with the crashes, but the inability to download from Soundcloud is a big fail for me as this feature is what drew me to the app in the first place.

Not so good. Installed it after good comments... Seems to be great but... Confusing interface Repeatedly crashes when playing lists Slow to synchronize even on fast connection

Major Improvements Over The Last Few Versions!. Major improvements over the last couple of versions has turned this app into one of the best Music players on the App Store. The bass sound has improved greatly and the level of bass is great!

Good & easy to use. Did not add ALL songs from my iTunes playlists tho.. & I can’t seem to fix this.. Otherewise, good app ..I like that it auto downloaded my music directly on the iPad without having to connect to pc

Awful and barely surviving. What a terrible little piece of software. The promise of a beta for windows only to find out after you pay for your non-refundable subscription that it doesn’t work. Well... nothing worked really. even on a Mac, uploads were slow, used all my ram, albums mis-sorted. And again - non-refundable subscription to TRY the software. Boooo!!!

Great app ruined over time.. This was once my all-time favourite iOS app. I could live with losing some functionalities that now require a subscription to enable, but now in-app ads too? Give me a break! I wish I could pay a one-time fee and have the original, GOOD version of this app back!

Almost great. Fifth star withheld for a few reasons: VOX will suddenly cut/out crash, and limited sorting options (iTunes playlists always default to alpha list, so even if Shuffle is on, playlist always starts with same song). Otherwise, sound quality is vast improvement over iTunes. For free app, it's a very good choice.

No Amazon music support. Liking this app so far- but please consider support for Amazon music!

Junk. Was good

Resubscribe or unsubscribe??. I paid for 30 days, I have 10 days left to resubscribe. I can no longer use to equalizer, when I click Equalizer the annual subscription appears. If I understand correctly, I am no longer entitled to the premium service even though I have paid. this is a dishonest action on your part.

Terrible rip off company. Beware.. This company will steal your money.

Crippled. This software used to be great. Now it’s not. Stick with the last version, if you were still lucky enough to have a downloaded copy.

Parfaite!. Idéale pour le 24 bit. Simple et élégante. Fréquemment mise à jour.

Well Overpriced. I really like the design of this app both in iOS and on the desktop however I find it well overpriced. I never used the loop feature as it's too expensive in my opinion for what it provides. Probably the most disappointing thing is the ridiculous pricing of their radio functionality which provide you with thousand of (already free and totally available in iTunes) radio stations for the criminal price of 13.99 CDN. Then to add insult to injury you are asked to pay this same amount again in MacOS! Upon email the developer they informed me that this is not their fault but rather it's Apples fault for not allowing a level of integration between app stores. Pure Nonsense. The application also has little to no music organization capability at least not without subscribing. I can't and won't continue to use. Unfortunate waste of 13.99...up to you if you want to repeat my error.

It’s pretty good. But it is TERRIBLE at picking up the artwork for some artists when you have it set to sort by artist. The album Art chosen isn’t even remotely close to the artist. For example the art used for LiSA is definitely not LiSA, same goes for tricot. So I don’t know where you guys are getting the album Art but wherever it’s from it ain’t working. It at Least get better with getting your AI to find the PROPER Art when it comes to artists from Japan. Also I sometimes have to restart the app after I connect my bt earbuds. Idk what that’s about. But it is still better than the stock app even though I’m only giving this 3 stars. Fix those issues and maybe I’ll give you 5.

Great app. Has all you need in a music app : gorgeous design, convenient, plays all hi-res formats and has a very convenient equalizer to fine tune to your needs. Tried a few other apps before and wish I came across this one sooner!

Slow cloud servers. Their cloud servers are way too slow to play my uploaded files. Even standard definition tracks take 5-10 seconds to start playing, CD quality FLAC a lot longer. Anything over 96kHz stutters so much it’s unlistenable. I’ve tested on a few networks, both cellular and wifi, and the speed has not improved. I could stream the same files without a problem from my private server. I’m located in Australia so maybe their servers are just too far away to make the service usable. Anyway, I’m out one month premium subscription fee.

very disappointed. my money wasted

A horrendous mess. Really messy app with terrible organization- if I want to view an artists’ collection to pick between albums it’s a disaster. In Artist view if I click on David Bowie (I have 43 albums with 475 songs) it has all the albums expanded into song list view with no album titles or album covers so I have to scroll through all 475 tracks to find any songs I want to hear. I can’t sort them by album unless I choose album view which has all the albums in alphabetical order and not under the artists’ names. Most of the albums don’t have artwork either. It’s a nightmare of an app

Poor ui implementation. You could not have designed a worse interface if you tried. Player won’t advance to the next track automatically. What is this? Do you even test your software?

Super. Super application, possibilité de jumeler avec son compte qobuz

Apple File acess. The app is on point. But it makes it hard to add music to the app without a computer. Flacbox remains the king of managing flac files on iPhone

Horrible. Songs don’t appear after syncing the phone. Sometimes only the name of the playlist appears void of all songs.

It’s good but one issue. It allows me to play my flag files anywhere but when I connect to my cars Bluetooth my phone screen has to stay on or the app will stop playing music like the app closes can you please fix this

EQ no longer accessible. App used to be fantastic, now merely subpar because of the EQ omission- forces you to upgrade to a monthly subscription. Now really no better than apple's free music player. Disappointed.

Better, but audio settings are hidden for previous user!. A much fairer update than the MacOS version (in theory). However, the “equalizer and audio settings” do not work for me. I need to buy the premium package before I get these back. Dev said these will be included in the iOS version (unlike MacOS), so we will see what happens...

Terrible technical service. Technical support is non-existing. The only answer I received after long wait time was a copy / paste one. Issue never fixed. EQ format not friendly at all. I’m cancelling and changing app. This developer answered to “contact them directly” (only when I published this review) which I did multiple times. A “Viktor” answered once and never responded again despite multiple messages I sent him asking for help. Never again. Happy with my new app.

Buggy. Super buggy, some of the songs are disappearing and re-appearing randomly from time to time, and its not displaying the right progress bar for song that I’m playing. I would’ve throw my money to upgrade to premium if everything works as it should, but well. Fire your programmer.

Amazing. I love it it’s better than YouTube music or Spotify combined

Vox [Cloud]: A Disaster. I've been trying to get Vox Cloud working for a week. Support has been awful. They emailed back and forth for first three days then stopped responding?!?! Service doesn't work, the app is useless to me unless I can play my lossless audio. Maybe I should've just stuck to Music. I would highly suggest looking elsewhere, they don't seem to care about their customers.

Disappointed. This app was the best for FLAC and had the absolute best sound possible - all of a sudden, to even have a bloody equalizer you are forced to subscribe? I purchased this app so long ago and now I’m deleting it because they’re just fkn greedy. Peace out VOX!

Solves ITunes music from cutting off songs. I had the problem of iTunes music cutting off songs early. Only solution was to rebuild entire iTunes library but you loose your playlists. I have a playlist with 100+ songs so that was not an option. This app easily accesses your iTunes downloaded songs and plays them properly.

Garbage. Paid for 30 days and it has been a horrible experience so far.. basic s/w, frustrating as it takes longer than it should to upload simple playlists, inconsistent… feels very amateurish and clunky to use. Save your time and money!!!

No good for musicians. Save your time and skip this one. Box is useless for gapless playback loops and nearly impossible to import your music files.

Why. Since when tf do we have to pay for the damn equalizer honestly the limit on this app just makes me want to delete it Good job 😒

No service after upgrade. I wanted to try the app, so I paid $6.49 for one month premium, all that I want is because I want to change the equalizer but every time I try it ask me to upgrade for premium so I paid for one moth. when I try again it say that I already premium but if I try to change the equalizer it asks me to upgrade again….

Great features but incredibly sluggish performance. This app would be perfect if not for the fact that it is nearly unusable because it is waaaaaaay too slow. According to the support team (which replied to my email promptly), the app rescans the music library every time the app is used. I have about 9000 songs in my collection which takes several minutes to scan and the app performs horribly during this time. I have an iPhone 8+, so it is a modern device with a fast processor. Below is the reply I received from the support team. Hopefully they will fix this, and then I can give the app 5 stars. Other than this one SERIOUS issue (and another less serious issue below), the app is great. But this is a HUGE inconvenience. Before using the app every time, I have to launch the app, LEAVE MY PHONE UNLOCKED and the screen on, for several minutes to allow the app to finish re-scanning my library and become useable. I can’t turn off my phone during this period or even switch to another app, because this process will not run in the background. Another issue I have discovered is that all my on-phone playlists are scrambled up. And this is when it is NOT set to shuffle. If I set it to shuffle, it just randomizes it further. Really annoying!!!! I’ll use shuffle when I want to, but if I have shuffle turned off, doesn’t that imply that I want my playlist to play in the correct order? All other music apps that access my playlists (which I created in iTunes) do play them in the correct order. Developer, please fix these bugs ASAP!! Thanks. Reply from support: “Currently, VOX will scan you library everytime app start, just to know if your library was updated. It is a mandatory process and could not be switched off at the moment. However, we are going to have some improvements and make a switch off/on toggle to disable or enable this function manually in future updates, which should resolve this issue.”

By far the best.. Its sorta like apple music but night mode. It's also way better. Soundcloud integration is incredible.

Avoid This App!. This app is a joke. It is merely a media player, like VLC. And VLC does way more. This app doesn’t even let you use the equalizer without paying. The EQ is the only reason I got it. Ridiculous! Deleted! Get VLC. It’s better and FREE.

Seriously the AWESOMEST app ever used. I mean it guys, download right now and just pay for the premium!!!! This app changed my life routine and i have gotten the chance to listen to audio books and radios and etc OMG so awesome. Thanks developers!

EQ Good - No Shuffle. Until there's a a shuffle all option, I just can't love this app.

Used to be great. App was perfect now riddled with ads and pages of personal ads to scroll and turn off, no option to buy 1 time but a monthly subscription for all these options I don’t need, just let me pay once to get rid of your terrible ads and all these settings to know my identity, such a shame time to use something else

The support for this app doesn’t respond. I like the app, however I had an issue of been charged 3 times for the same subscription. I have been trying to reach out to support for weeks now for a refund of the extra charges, but no response.

Unique music machine. For those who wants all kinds of music source in one playlist. Listening Your own local music files as in old days? this app is also for You. And has paid infinite cloud for music. Good EQ and lot of other audio mumbo jumbo feels right in place. Irreplaceable in a car.

Does not have a true parametric equalizer. I subscribed to the premium plan because the app description included a “parametric” equalizer. The equalizer is actually a semi-parametric equalizer (you can’t change q-values) and doesn’t have very many bands. I’m still giving 5 stars as the developers gave me a refund very quickly.

The best app for listening music I’ve ever used!!. It’s the best app for listening music I’ve ever used. I’ve been using iPhone for 9 years and have tried so many apps for music, but this one is the best. Very intuitive UI & I love the dark UI, I think it’s also good for saving energy on iPhone X with it’s OLED screen. Thank you guys.

Been a VOX user for over 5 years. But…. I’ve been a paying VOX user since the beginning. I’ve religiously paid for their subscription since 2016, including when the price changed, because they were the only ones who had a music player that did lossless Flac with my library in the cloud. Fast forward to 2 months ago. Suddenly the library won’t sync. Contacted support, no reply. I love the app, but would love to be able to use what I pay for too. Come on guys, this just isn’t fair.

Not nearly as good any more. I used to like this app a lot and listen to all my music on it. But not any more. The recent change means that the equalizer only works if you use the paid version and pay per month. It’s really annoying when free features are suddenly not available any more. There are other apps out there with good equalizers and for a small one-time charge, without having to pay every month.

Used to be great. I’ve been using the free VOX version for awhile but will have to look for something else because with the recent update you now have to pay a monthly fee to get equalizer access. I really liked the app and it was easy to use and worked great, but I’m not willing to pay $4.99 a month just for an equalizer and a few other features that I don’t care anything about. I don’t think the features they’re offering are worth the price.

Good UI, but not as stable as it used to be. This has been my go-to media player for a while. But recently it’s been crashing more often, especially while using it in carplay. Right now, it will crash 100% of the time when I hit “shuffle all” in carplay. Also, this app unfortunately doesn’t support many voice commands beyond “play” and “pause”. Among the free options, it’s still probably the best out there, but it feels like it’s been declining.

App is Great, but EQ is behind a never ending paywall. As said in the title, love the app and clean UI. However, I’m aware in the past the EQ option was available either free or pay once and keep forever option. It has been moved over to a subscription only, which I’m not fond of. Apps w/subscription based services are just piling up and one day, you’ll just be spending $100+/month on services instead of one time purchases.

Flexibility is a plus. I like VOX for it flexibility. It allows you to place your songs into its file as they are. The file goes in and is not altered or replace like iTunes does if you have Apple Music. I can listen to my collected songs that I purchased & converted from CD then compiled into folders/ collections the way I wanted for my listening preference.

It’s fine. It’s just fine. I’m glad I can transfer my flac files from iCloud to it but it’s so cumbersome and annoying to transfer and most of the time it doesn’t even transfer all the music. Even overwrites whatever album artwork was already on the album. It’s just an inconvenience, especially since you can’t even change the album artwork yourself. I haven’t found a better app tho so until then it’s just 3 stars

Just ok. This app seems to be abandoned, and has not seen a meaningful update or new feature in years. Unlike other apps, Vox does not see any of my Chromecast devices. Forget about connecting to your NAS. Forget about playing files in the Downloads folder of your iPhone. Also, it often does not recognize metadata and album art that other audio players have no issue with. This is a much better app on macOS than iOS.

This is the music app to have.... I am loving this app more and more. Do yourself a favor and add loop and radio... it will be all you need. A special thank you to the devs for adding a radio station for me.. Yes, they really do that for you. They are constantly improving this app. That is a rare quality with iOS apps in general.

Soap. This might be a good app but for the following: I much prefer slider bars to adjust the equalizer. Sine wave thing just doesn’t work for me. Maybe needs an amp booster or preamp. My old but still used player does that and I certainly need that with this new Hyundai. This Santa Fe boasts an Infinity sound system but man it is just a name. My old 2004 Sonata was way better and my 2098 Titan truck with a Rockford Fosgate system blows both away. Need the Apple CarPlay ability but more Cow bell from the VOX app.

Guess I’m misunderstanding this.. Or something. Everyday I’ve gotten an email offering the Premium upgrade. That seems to be all there is to this. The basic app is just that. No different at all than the Apple Music/iTunes apps that are on my iPad. Oh, except if I pay for premium, then I can access MY music from other Apple devices!!! WTBF! (Bloody) All I would be doing is paying them for storage! Equalizers and whatever else they offer I can get for free. I can get free storage for that matter from Google drive!

Support doesn’t care about bug reports and just wants you to go away. Reported an issue about filename handling with iTunes file sharing and support is talking around my issue instead of treating it as a bug report. Otherwise a decent app. Plays FLAC, apart from my handful of missing files. Scrolling feels weird and the UI of pulling down to go back instead of the standard iOS experience of swiping from the left edge or a back button is not great.

Took away from us. I started using this app for a good while keeping up with all the updates and everything. Over time as I got comfortable and began to prefer all the settings, customization and so on they decide to make this service a PAID subscription!? Why would it all be taken away if we already had it to start and offer it back to us as a weird monthly subscription just to use a couple extras!? Not fair and makes no sense, keeping it original and making adding a couple skin packs could earn some extra coin. Not a subscription :(

Really?. I would love to right an angry review, I really would. Though it’s satisfying on my side, it’s useless for you. This is about the EQ being behind padlocked closed, and the only key is subscription. I loved VOX, but that EQ is the main reason I had it. Nobody wants your other tools enabled within the premium subscription, they just seem to want the EQ. I have recently deleted the app, and I assume a great deal of others have too. Maybe something will get done, as I know I’m nowhere near the only one ticked with the abrupt and unreasonable changes.

It has adds now. I’ve used and loved this app for years. I don’t have the premium version because I don’t need any of the premium features and $5 a month is a lot for a music player. If there was a one time fee I would pay it to support the app but I cannot add another monthly payment especially when there are other free alternatives that do the same thing. Very disappointed because I love the UI of this one but I guess it’s time to move on

The best. It's the best music app i've ever know But it needs some changes . For example if u can add the EDIT botton for albums and songs and playlists to edit the album/playlist Cover/Art and the information of the song It would be nice of you to take this seriously and work on it Thank you

Good, can be better. I’ve tried lots of music apps but for now I can say VOX is best of all, even better than Apple Music, BUT this app has been just released and needs many improvements such as supporting Lyrics, themes ( can be awesome if for example the theme changes automatically during a day according to time... ) and ..... But at first place i wish next update will have “ lyrics support “ . Thanks VOX, you are already the best ❤️

Great app, but missing songs. This app is absolutely amazing, i could never play my music on my phone the way i wanted to until i got this app, the only reason its not 5 stars is because one particular song i have keeps disappearing and wont show up until i update the app but it will still disappear after a minute, i dont know how to fix this

Solid App. Solid design and controls. Do you guys plan on supporting Dropbox as a file source? Updated based developer response: Okay, well I already pay for dropbox every year, I don’t need another cloud service, which, presumably can only be used for music right? Also I can push music to my dropbox account from anywhere and any device. How does one accomplish this with your service?

Love this app. This app is a great music player, but my favorite feature is the one that watches your clipboard for music links. I won’t say anymore than that. However, if the developers read these reviews, my wish list is that you would add shortcuts support, so that we could add links using the Shortcuts app. Regardless, it’s an awesome app.

Please add the "E" in Explicit songs played in the app. There is a missing player abillity that adds the "E" after the song title in the iPhone music player status that appears in the Notification screen whenever a song is playing, and it's missing the "E" for explicit songs played in the app

Easy to use unlike the others. Syncs with my old iTunes laptop app and enjoy playlists created on a platform larger than a sardine can. Could not figured out if the app is free if only used with my media? I do not stream. Guess it will be clear if i see a charge later. Don’t want to pay monthly but would gladly pay a modest fee for the app.

Unstable and buggy.. I am a paying customer for Vox Premium and I am frustrated at how unstable this platform is. The cloud service is constantly breaking. Some of my albums don’t load, randomly. One hour the service will be working then out of nowhere the whole thing stops streaming music from the cloud. The app itself could also use a design/usability overhaul. If this continues I am most certainly going to cancel my subscription. For the price this should be a lot more stable, and don’t get me started on the lack of new features being added since I started my account over two years ago.

Great app but missing a couple necessary features. No complaints about the basic functionality...the best cloud solution I’ve found so far. But no way to delete songs from the iOS app, and also no away to edit metadata for uploaded songs from the iOS or desktop apps, so still some work to do.

Good Player... My amended review. Gave VOX 5 Stars now. Contacted support and figured out how to sync my collections with my iPhone. It is a one-way sync from my computer to iPhone, but that is good enough for me. ***************** Original review I think this is the best player that I have found, and I have been looking at several as a replacement for iTunes. At this point one of the primary reasons I am looking away from iTunes is that their playlists don’t always sync right, and the Apple Music is bugging me too much. VOX doesn’t seem to have a way to sync collections between the iPhone and MacOS. This will be a deal breaker for me. VOX Developers, if you get this right, I will likely stick with VOX.

zero price transparency. I looked at this app with serious intent. Went to their website and searched around. With the exception of a vague “from $4.99” they provide no pricing information whatever. Instead, they force you to subscribe with your email FIRST. If their pricing was reasonable they’d want to show it to entice you to subscribe instead of demanding your email first so they can SPAM you after you realize how expensive it is. I don’t do business with shady developers who don’t show their pricing. Until they have full, open transparency about their pricing… DELETE

Request!. Hi developers! I use your app on a day-to-day basis, and I have a request that would be very beneficial to me and most others. New song sorting. The way the song are sorted confuses me. There should be an option to sort the songs alphanumerically instead of by artist in alphabet order. Here is how I recommend it get sorted: The songs that have symbols (parentheses, dollar signs, etc) get sorted first, then songs that start with numbers, then, of course, letters.

So much potential, useless if you have Apple Music. Lack of Apple Music support makes this app pointless. Looks good, sounds good but only works for music you own. A shame really. Edit: Response to Developer - here’s a suggestion: instead of being an elitist audiophile pr!ck you may want to consider taking some time to actually respond to valid criticism of not supporting Apple Music since you are developing for iOS after all. By the way other iOS apps such as Marvis Music Player and Jet Audio support Apple Music.

Just needs a UI tweak. This app is amazing in terms of functionality, but looks awful on the iPhone 12 mini. When browsing my collection the word "Library" appears to be underneath the notch and the menu buttons are so high up that they're difficult to press. Hopefully this will be fixed in the next update, in which case this is a five star app!

Truly amazing !. This has got to be the most perfect audio file app out for sure , but with one minor problem but it’s just me being nit picky ! It only plays or with find my “purchased” music ??? I have the iTunes music subscription but this app will only let me listen to what I’ve purchased ??? Other then that for real this is absolutely amazing!!!!

SoundCloud log-in bug. The SoundCloud music will not play if you don’t login. During the process of logging in it creates a hidden screen to create a New account therefore leaving you unable to sign in. Now I will never be able to listen to music due to that bug. Can you please see what the problem is. Thanks

Frustrating waste of big money. This app does not work and the user interface is maddeningly frustrating. It is very difficult to cancel your subscription once VOX has access to automatic drafts from your account. I was finally able to cancel today, I think, after months of trying. It’s an annual subscription for an app I never use, so I forgot about for a year until they charged me another $99. Ouch. Subscription rate is now well over $100 a year ($139, I think). Hope I’ve saved someone some money and headaches with this review.

screwed up my art. The only reason I got this is because it plays some different music formats Sadly, like Apple, these jerks default changing art and “automatically downloading“ artwork. I find it very very rude for any application to assume you want to automatically download crap. What’s worse, is that this app changed some of the custom artwork I had. WTaF? there is a setting within to turn off automatic downloading, but their menu structure is very weird, and it took me a while to find it once I figured out what was going on. The only reason I gave two stars, is because it is formats that they can play. automatically downloading stuff without asking. Really screwed this app up.

Latest update adds distracting ads. After the latest update, a full-width banner ad appears over the miniplayer, right where you're likely to accidentally click if you're not careful. Not to mention that it covers up a whole row when you're browsing the library. For an app whose clean, distraction-free design is such a large part of its appeal, this is hugely disappointing. It's especially deceptive since it was not mentioned in the patch notes whatsoever. Otherwise I would have known better than to update.

1000x nicer/classier than Apple’s music app. This app is actually built with the user in mind. Apple’s Music app seems to be designed primarily to get you to sign up for their subscription service, your music playing needs come second. Not so with VOX which presents your albums simply. Couldn’t be easier! Love it.

Love this music app! Best music player for my FLAC library. I've been using VOX for more than 3 years. I keep all my lossless music library in VOX Cloud. It's very comfortable because I can listen to music everywhere from my iPhone, MacBook, and Windows computer at my workplace. By the way: check Qobuz source inside VOX. A fantastic music source with Hi-Res music. P.S: Parametric equalizer is the best I have ever tried!

Good app but better are out there.. I already have this installed on my Mac and my phone and my iPad, already pay and already use the premium cloud feature so I’m not about to quit just yet, but why they do not extend cloud support to the Apple Watch is completely beyond me. I was assuming that that was already done, if that isn’t ad in the near future I will be dropping this for one of the six or seven competitors that already do so with the same high-quality.

Subscriptions?. I “bought” this app awhile ago so I could manage my music outside of Apple control, avoid the stupid data waste and/or costs of streaming, and to have a nice interface. I call it freedom. I hadn’t used your product in awhile but I’m using Linux full time again so I wanted a way to avoid iTunes and streaming. Oh well... One day all these young kids are going to get tired of being nickled and dimed to death for simple things, like file management, and realize they have no real control over any and everything they buy or create. It’s stupid.

Software ding-a-lings. This UI is SHATE! (Scottish for you know what). You can’t even call it a UI. How about Crappy Mess (CM). Where did you guys find you so called software engineers; down the NY sewers! Like you went down there and said; “Hey sewer workers, wanna become software engineers? OK, great! Just follow us.” H-m-m-m.......that would explain the SHATE UI (or CM). The sewer is where shate belongs! And you guys have the CAJONES (that’s Mexican Spanish for you know what) to ask for money to make this shate do what so many others provide with their free version. So....you’re both crappy software engineers AND crappy businessmen! Shut your shate down and drag your cajones home!

Good replacement for Cartunes. Since Cartunes is no longer supported in ios11, this is the best replacement app I’ve found for easy control of my playlists while in the car. The UI is at times obscure (I had to search for the settings menu), but I t’s easily learned. The developer is impressively responsive to feature questions!

Apps good, just one thing…. I mainly download this app because it supports last fm Scrobbles on SoundCloud but it seems to not work because the scrobbles aren’t being submitted to last fm. Other than that the app is good. Also no ads! If the developers see this, please fix the last fm Scrobbler. Would be greatly appreciated.

Issue Playing Songs. This app worked great for the last year, but now it won’t load any songs. It keeps buffering and skips to the next song without actually playing anything. I deleted the app and re-installed it, but it’s still happening. I’m gonna have to cancel my subscription unfortunately. Will try again in the future.

Sonos Not Truly Supported. I bought this app and subscribed to use FLAC on my phone and use it with sonos devices that aren’t on my personal network. That doesn’t work well at all. You’re not guaranteed to find the sonos device and the rooms don’t work at all. You’re just casting it to sonos over WiFi. The app is also super slow with large FLAC files even when downloaded. I canceled my premium membership and will look elsewhere. Unfortunately other apps I’ve tried like CloudBeats didn’t work well either for my personal FLAC library.

Just what I needed !!. I needed a player which would play lossless music and which could function independently from my iTunes library. And I found it ! This app is just great for my needs, and I can import hi-quality music right into my iPhone thru the special upload window in iTunes - no muss no fuss. And it’s easy to operate too! Thanks !!!

best music player. Actually I should give this app 5 star and I really like to do that but I don’t understand why a great app like this that it is even better than iOS native music app should not have ability to show lyrics?! This app has everything you need, quality sound lover, lovely interface, fast, user friendly and has lot of features that iOS music player lost it step by step from iOS 6 till now.

Buyer Beware!. I subscribed for a 2-year account and am beyond frustrated with VOX. Great idea but very poor implementation. Web uploading barely works, no cross-platform support, no way to see what’s uploading properly and what’s not, etc. Customer support offers zero resolution or refunds and just says ‘we are releasing an update soon” or “try uploading 1 album at a time (which does not work)”. This does not work as advertised and you will not be able to refund through their service. Buyer beware! Know what you are getting into, but I would recommend Plex (FLAC support), subsonic or another service.

Love this app!. I do have a complaint though... The artist library view gets populated with pictures from whatever database they are using, and I am so aggravated with the photo for Nas (the photo is for Lil Nas, and I hate that I can’t change it). Nas is an important artist to me, and I feel that he is an important enough artist to be properly represented in the artist library... If there is anything that can be done, I say IT MUST BE DONE. I hate looking at the artist library with that looming in there!
