Dramatically reduced my stress level until it didn’t work at all. Also some functions. This app has been great! It is easy to use and has dramatically reduced the arguments over the electronics in my house, making my home life much happier. Instead of me saying “you have 30 minutes or 1 hour” to play on whatever device, then yelling and fighting ensuing when time is up, I can simply set a time limit in the Kidslox app and when it’s done it’s done. I don’t have to do or say anything else. Yay! It has also made it so that there is no sneaking the device when my child is not supposed to be on it. Also Yay! I like the ability to limit accessibility of certain things, though honestly I don’t use that function as much as limiting and restricting time. Finally I like that the full app is reasonably priced after the trial period. My only issue so far is that the app locks all the programs, other than talk or text. It would be nice to be able to restrict some programs like games while allowing others like music. Then day 5 it would not let me unlock my child’s phone from any location or his tablet. Great idea, but not the best setup.

Difficult, confusing, stupid. Creepy.. I’m the child. About 2 years ago my mom put the app on my phone. I had no issue with it, whatever oh well. My mom had told me that she deleted the app and that she hadn’t had it in months. Today I was going through my phone and I was like “oh hey I still have kidslox, mom said she didn’t have it anymore so I can delete it, it’s just taking up space”. A few hours later all my apps disappeared and a kidslox “bookmark” appeared. I texted my mom asking her to put more time and she said “we don’t have that app anymore. I don’t pay for it” we texted a little more about it and I asked her to redownload the app and try to fix it or see if it autorenewed. She redownloaded it and it said that I sent her a link. I never sent her any links. It was a link to this random site called cliqly. We’re both confused and tired. I just want my apps back and she wants whatever is happening to stop, as do i. Please fix whatever is happening because my mom doesn’t pay for it anymore so it shouldn’t be affecting my phone. What I’m guessing is happening is either someone from Kidslox or inside kidslox hacked my phone, hacked my moms bank account, both, or something different. What’s the most scary about this all is the fact that I had just deleted it a few hours ago, and then a bookmark of the app appeared, not even the actual app.

Horrible app. At first this app looked good to control the time limit on the phone. But after using it I realized it was just terrible. My phone was organized in neat bubbles and it completely ruined it! It took hours to fix. I wasn’t able to delete the app from my phone and it caused a lot of trouble for me. The screen time for the hyphen would be 2 hours a day but just 19 minutes after using it in the morning it told me my screen time was up! Along with this when I went into the app to exclude certain apps from being deleted like my workout app it constantly froze and made doing so very difficult. All in all this app is absolutely horrible and I don’t recommend to anyone ever. Last night I deleted the app. Today when I went back on my phone it was back!!! What!?!? I’m horrified! This app has something wrong with it! It ruined all my organization once again and it’s going to take another 2 hours to fix!!! WORST APP IVE EVER USED!!!!! IT ISN'T EVEN WORTH 1 STAR!!!!!!

Content filtering is not working. I am having to go and block each website individually as the content filtering isn’t working and porn sites keep showing up on my child’s phone and she isn’t going to these sites at all because I have the phone in my hand and it’s being done in the background as I am looking up stuff on her phone. Editing to add I didn’t want to pay for the subscription after the very extremely short trial that should have been a little longer to get the full experience of the app but somehow I have paid for the app for the next 3 months. I’m not very fond of paying for something I’m not using since it keeps going to porn sites on its own. My child keeps bringing it to me daily to say it’s gone to a porn site and I don’t know why this is even happening because she has never gotten porn sites before on her phone. This is the worst app ever and for the price you pay it should be better.

Really useful but sometimes not. I really like this app even though im a kid, it tells me when to get off my phone at the right moment. My dad usually puts it for 12:30 PM And that is cool because before i even got this app I was so addicted to my phone that i would use it for the whole day Even night! But with this app it has saved my life. I can play with my toys again! But there is a few bugs that you must fix. 1. The VPN just goes off sometimes but i dont know why! I tell my dad and when he tries switching it back on it wont work! 2. When ever i go to school (im in middle) i text my dad to put child mode on so i can search up answers and or stuff to help me while im in class, the internet is SO slow that by the time it gets on my phone, the class is over! You really need to fix these bugs to make parents or kids experiences better, either than that thanks for making this app!

Honestly one of the worst apps ever. Honestly if you ever think of using this app to supposedly “ lower your child’s screen time usage” don’t use this app. This app has all the reasons to be considered horrible. Once you run out of screen time using this app, it not only takes away all the apps located on your Home Screen ( which is already terrible enough), but even takes away apps that are used for learning purposes as well. My kid can’t even use Duolingo after he runs out of time or the Bible app. It’s the flipping BIBLE. The least you could do is at least keep the apps on the Home Screen but disable them so that kids won’t be able to use them, and don’t take away reasonable apps like apps that my kid uses to get an education at home when away from school. Not only does this terrible app do all the stuff I just mentioned, but it even rearranges all and I mean ALL of your apps once you get your screen time back. Kids shouldn’t have to go through the hard work of putting them back where they were originally and trust me…i know. I have even tried disabling the rearranging mechanism but it rearranges the apps anyway. All in all, this is a horrible app and I don’t recommend using it for your kids or anyone.

Great app with one serious flaw. I’ve used Kidslox as a paid service for nearly a year now and wanted to share my experience and why I’ve chosen to stop using it. The sole reason is that the Kidslox app blocks location tracking on my kid’s phones when they are on cell network only. It works fine when they are on WiFi. I’ve contacted the company several times and reported these issues yet no resolution has been made. I’ve used Kidslox on 4 different devices since both my kids upgraded phones mid year. They had iPhone 6s, 8s and more recently Xr. We’ve tried it in multiple locations. Sometimes it works but most times it only show “offline” or “no location available” when both kids are in “child mode” on their devices. Anyways I was hoping Kidslox could have fixed it. In fact they even reported they couldn’t recreate this bug? My wife (iPhone 8plus) couldn’t track them either. So I uninstalled the app on all family devices and straight away I was able to see location of my kids again whenever they’re away using the iOS native ‘find my phone” or “find my friends” apps. Everything else with Kidslox worked fine but the location glitch is our reason for cancelling this service as it is a serious flaw for parents who want to keep track of kids outside the house. Hope this feedback helps. I’d sign up again if this bug is actually fixed this time. Thank you

How do you cause depression, anxiety, and mistrust in kids? Use this app!. This app scatters everything around so you have to spend a long time putting it back together. AND deleted half of your apps without permission from the kid or the parent. If you have an issue, you don’t get a response from a real person, you get it from a bot. The solution is not to stop kids from getting screen time. That’s how you cause anxiety. If they are up all night playing on their phone, let them! The enjoy it and it helps them sleep. Studies have been done that playing games can actually help kids with our flawed school system. A horrible app. This is how anxiety depression and mistrust is created between kids and parents. No one seems to care about kids mental health any more. Also to remove it, forget the VPN, delete the app, and go to settings —> vpn and device management, profile and then delete the kidlox one. You can also see what the profile permissions are. Horrible app

Terrible-device locked after free trail-Difficult to delete app. The apps features are nice for the most part. But there are many issues. If a schedule is was previously made (day and time to change control like locking device down) the app forces you to rename the schedule to a different name each time, even if the only desire is the change the scheduled time. Frustrating and dumb. After the free trial ended, and I hadn’t had time to actually upgrade to the paid “advanced features” yet, the app locked down the iPad completely making the device unusable, instead of just not applying the schedules. This is when I decided to not purchase the app. To add more problem, finding the instructions to remove the app’s controlling profile from the iPad was difficult! Have to go to website, perform Q & A search, log in, enter pin, to get instructions, which will timeout after what seems like 30 sec. After that, you have to repeat that process. I ended up taking screenshots to have them longer. While paid features do provide nice control, there are many frustrating issues.

Great when it works. We’ve been using Kidslox for about 5 years. They’re the only parental app that understands what parents need control over and it’s everything we always wanted. They’re affordable and very helpful whenever we’ve had a technical issue. Which you’ll need because it’s quite a mission to get Kidslox Premium up and running anytime your child changes over to a new phone. But it’s always been worth the mission. This last time that we had to change our child’s phone again, I did the entire process of installing Kidslox Premium onto the new device, it just wouldn’t work. I connected the new device to 3 different computers, tried multiple cables to be sure it was connecting properly- nothing. I’ve been at this for months already- meanwhile I’m still paying for premium without the access to it. I reached out to tech support and for the first time ever I haven’t heard back. I hope someone reaches back out to me and we get this resolved. If we can get this fixed I’d definitely rate them a 10/10. Until then, I have to give it a 1 star.

Pin and Touch ID issues. The app does what it’s designed to do-for the most part. Every now and then, switching modes gets hung up and doesn’t switch like I need it to. The main issue I have is the Pin and Touch ID. If I enable Touch ID, it also allows my kids (who all have Touch ID set up in their phones) to unlock the app and change modes! If I take off the Touch ID option to open the app, I’ll set up a pin that works to unlock it a couple of times. After that, I’ll try to open the app and enter the pin I set and it tells me that the pin is incorrect!!!! It’s very frustrating. Why have the option if it doesn’t remember the pin when you set one?! I have tried to disable the Touch ID in Kidslox settings and that will work the same as the pin issue. It will turn back on again in its own. Thank you for your reply. Hoping the pin issue gets fixed and please look into the Touch ID setting as well.

The best parental control tool. I waited some time to submit a review because it took me awhile to fully use its features and kidslox improved and fixed bugs over time. I admit there has been some frustrating moments when the app glitched but compared to other tools I tried, it’s still the most effective and easy to use. The ability to lockdown individual apps as well as whitelist others is nice. The schedules and time limit functions are good. I love the new reward feature, haven’t used yet but I could see it being very attractive. I just wished I could see usage for each app or do limits for types of apps but for that I have to use screen time. When paired with iOS screentime, it’s pretty powerful. Just make sure the two are in sync or iOS will cancel out kidslox. If I could rate a 4.5 I would.

Be VERY aware!!!. While I originally gave this app a 5 star rating, I have since changed my mind and would tell you that although this app APPEARS to offer great control over your kids ipads(and it truly does) the power, security and privacy you relinquish is unbelievable!!! At first I was excited that this app appeared to offer an excellent way for me to control and monitor my children’s iPads, I was horribly mistaken. Not only do you release control of each and every iPad to the app and ultimately the people behind the app you relinquish much of your security and privacy also. They can gain access to EVERY system on your iPad including data like your iCloud, FaceTime and messages. I had this actually happen to my parental control iPad and had to take it to a Verizon store where it took us well over an hour to figure out it was this sneaky app that was the culprit and had to delete and restore my iPad as a new iPad so that it couldn’t reload on it!!! Am so angry that I just had renewed for another 6 months also🤬🤬🤬. Now I’m stuck without a good alternative and trying to figure out if sensitive credit and financial info was accessed and trying to reset eversingle password I had. Not to mention if you want to remove it COMPLETELY, you HAVE to message them. Just removing the icon like most apps does NOT work!!!

Good app. Overall, I’m finding Kidslox to be a useful, easy way to have limits on my daughter’s screen usage. The weekly reports are informative and give me assurance that she is not abusing her screen time. Controlling it all from my phone is great and so convenient. I also like the ability to add or remove time on the set daily limits. I use that a lot for when she earns more time by doing chores. One improvement that could be made would be to have the ability to shut down text and phone calls during certain hours, except for emergencies. Because while I can set a daily limit and control app usage so that even if she has more time before she reaches the limit she can’t use it after a certain time at night, she can still text freely for hours on end and I have no able to track or limit that. So I still have to confiscate her phone every evening so she isn’t up all night texting her friends. I wish there was a way to set limits on texting too other than taking away her phone. But overall, it is a good app and I’m happy I bought the lifetime subscription so I can also use it when my younger children get phones when they are older.

Horrible app. I have read a lot of reviews on this and they are mostly bad so parents if you want your kids to hate you for the rest of their life for ruining the best years of their life this is the perfect app and I get it you want your kids to be safe and all but this is not the way to go instead try and set boundaries talk to them plus this also deletes storage off your mobile device instead I would recommend using another app that is less expensive and annoying parents if your reading this don't waste your time buying this thinking you've done something when in reality you've made the problem worse. Kids will always find another way weather it's another device or figuring out the password. My advice is to save your money and your kids relationship and not get this app. Other ways is approaching your kid(s) with a deal that will make you both happy like trying to set(I say trying because there at other ways to approach this) boundaries talK tO them plus this also deletes storage off your mobile device instead I would recommend using another app that is less expensive and annoying parents if your reading this don't waste your time buying this thinking you've done something when in reality you've made the problem worse. Kids will always find another way weather it's another device or figuring out the password my advice is to save your money and relationship with your kid (s) and not get this app.

PC app required for set up & its a pain. I downloaded this app a year ago, tried the free version and eventually paid for premium subscription. I was able to successfully restrict access to certain apps, inappropriate content and screentime for my daughters phone very well. I gave for the success of that time. However, we upgraded phones recently and the set up has been so very difficult!! In order to set up premium features it now requires me to download the PC app as well. Well, whatever it tries to download NEVER downloads and stay stuck at 5%. i have tried downloading again, rebooted, deleted and reinstalled and never manage to finish set up because its get stuck at 5% download. PC app is so irritating. Wish I could do everything thru the phone app like I did before in my initial set up. I tried reaching out for help and haven’t heard back in two days. Didn’t get an auto response acknowledging my email so I’m not sure if anyone will eventually get back to me. *Update* i eventually received a response and they tried getting more info to fix it. Replied back and said that it had been fixed and they released a new ISO version BUT it still doesn’t download past 5%. I really liked this but I can no longer use my paid subscription and only get watered down features that are hardly helpful on their own. It doesn’t seem a fix is coming before my subscription expires, so I definately won’t be renewing to $50 subcription.

Wow. Just wow.. I am a 14 year old. I feel as if this app is invading my privacy. I’m all for screen time control and location, that I’m fine with and understand. But knowing that they can see my search history and every move I do is unsettling. Not that I’m watching bad stuff but knowing my mom she will send screen shots of my screen to everyone. She can also see personal things I do that isn’t really her business such as my friends secrets. I don’t want her seeing that I search up things that she avoids me from learning about such as real world political things and tips on things such as Menstruation. I also don’t want her seeing emails with a teacher I’m very close with and is almost like a therapist to me. I’m curious and I don’t want her taking that away from me. I feel violated as to my whole device is being controlled. I feel as if you got your child a phone, you should be able to trust them and what they do on the device first. Don’t get your child a phone if you can’t yet trust them with what they do on the device. I feel like this is unfair.

Account got hacked and they’re telling me to get over it. I’ve had this app almost a year. My account was recently hacked and I’m asking them what proof I need to show them that I paid for it they won’t respond in a timely manner and have told me that I basically need to get over it and buy a new one. It’s clearly not a secure application when they can’t even provide you proof that you paid for it I showed them my subscription through my iTunes with my connected emails and they still will not give me my account back I don’t know if they have any of my other phones information but if you value your privacy I would not trust this company Update: Even after showing them my receipts when they finally asked me for them they did not provide me with my account. They are allowing a hacker access to my account so hopefully they don’t have the ability to see what my children’s phones are searching, gps location, and all the otherSensitive information the app gathers I am not sure as this company might only send one email a day. At the end of the day I had to contact me bank and they gave me the money back as kidslox is not providing services after purchase. In short I would not recommend would give it less then a 1 out of 5 if I could. Edit. After all this. They just now weeks later want to see my receipt. I have already asked the bank to give me my money back which they did for kidslox breach on contract after I got hacked. Don’t trust this company folks

Best parental control app I’ve found. After trying my cellular service provider’s parental control app, and finding that I could delete the companion app from my child’s phone, I went looking for another option. Let me tell you, there is a reason this is so well rated! When lockdown mode is engaged, the gaming and social apps disappear from my child’s phone. The icons are gone and there is no way to access them at all. Kidslox leaves the calling and texting features available for use, which I appreciate, so that she can contact me in the event of an emergency. I found the parent user interface to be thorough, yet intuitive. It is easy to navigate and itemizes the features and apps that will be locked out during each type of mode. Knowing that even when child mode is engaged, she will still be protected with safe search browsing and content filtering, as well as the requirement to request permission before downloading apps, has actually increased our communication about what is appropriate for her. We can talk about why I declined a particular app so she knows what features to look for before she asks to download. Overall, I’m very impressed. As a person who has almost never downloaded a paid app, I can tell you that my standards are high. I just signed up for the lifetime premium service and will be downloading the companion app on all of the devices in my home, as well as recommending this to my friends.

⬜️⬜️⬜️PARENTS READ THIS⬜️⬜️⬜️. doesn’t function correctly most of the time and violates privacy. use screentime that comes with the phone if you are that bad of a person to do that to your child. you are ruining a lot of happiness for your kid and i’m serious. please don’t download this app. don’t PAY for your child to hate you. if you do screentime your kid will not like you in the future. pick out you nursing home because that’s where your kid is putting you. it seems silly but this app is very awful to the mental health of your kid. VERY inconvenient because you have to ASK to use a stupid app. if you use this app and think you are doing a great job go to the mirror and slap yourself so you can see what you deserve. if you spend more time on your phone than you give your kids literally leave. i plan on leaving my mom and never speaking to her again when i’m old enough so yeah if you love your kids don’t do stupid stuff like this just because you are a CONTROL FREAK with much hatred and loathing, j

Purchasing lifetime subscription. I really like this app. I also own the Circle and used that for a few months but then my brother in law introduced me to Kidslox. I tried the 14 day trial period and today is the day it expires. I had to decide if I wanted to keep using Kidslox. And I decided to go for it. I love how I am not limited to the WiFi in my house and I can still control my kids devices outside of the house. For the most part everything works smoothly except the timer. For example I generally allow my kids 2 hours of iPad a day. The devices do lock after 2 hours but the timer keeps running for some reason. There are times it shows my kids were on for 3,4,5 plus hours. Which is confusing and when I want to give them more time I have to extend out to the end of day instead of just 30 min or 1 hour. Are we doing something wrong how come the timer keeps running? Other than that I believe I love the app... look forward to more features and upgrades. Thanks Update Comment: Is there a pause button? It would be great if there was the ability to pause my children’s iPad instead of having to put it in lock mode.

One of the worst apps I ever downloaded. Not to be dramatic but this is probably one of the worst apps I ever downloaded. I installed it so that I could try to limit my usage on the internet and help me focus on school work(yes I know this is for kids but I procrastinate a lot and don’t stay focused) I downloaded it and it deleted all my apps and I was so confused at first and it took me a long time to get it back this happened continuously for three days!!! I had no choice but to delete the app shocked again that after a day when I went back to my phone I see that I can’t find any of my apps and the same app is back it had control of my phone and deleted it!!! I was so surprised that somehow it installed itself again..after I deleted it!!!! If I could block this app I would. Just to let you know before you buy the app. Statistics don’t say as much and are rigged most of the time at first seeing the 4.5 rating drew my attention towards it but after having many disappointments I checked the reviews and they had similar problems.

Works well, mode change is unacceptably slow. My son got used to it just shutting off his Iphone X; like we get used to stopping at red lights. The daily use limits were discussed and agreed upon. I created a morning "ready for school" and "study hall" plus other lock out times. He'll ask if he needs access while in locked mode. The problem is that the system server is EXTREMELY slow to change from locked to child mode or back. It is so slow it's a problem. As more people buy and use the app it will get slower. Example: He texted me to unlock the phone so he could use it for after-school Spanish and by the time it unlocked the class was over. Unacceptable. He was supposed to be getting ready to leave and I selected lock but it took several minutes. I pay extra for super fast internet access and have extensively upgraded wifi so I'm 100% it's not my internet access and it is on the Kidslox side.

terrible customer support for a terrible app. This app is completely inadequate for good parental controls in my opinion and did not work well for my needs. the built in apple Screen Time settings work just as well for zero cost. Often the Kidslox app completely restarts after you log in for no reason at all. Kidslox doesn’t even have the most basic controls that i would expect such as weekly quotas or fine grained controls on specific apps for many apps. and it can’t provide different time limits for specific apps either. It has no way of specifying specific apps allowed at specific time periods. There are no provisions for specifying periodic screen breaks. when i tried to cancel, customer support would Not Cancel my subscription! This is the most basic thing that customer support should be able to do (they claim it is all under Apple’s control to do that). They did send instructions for me to do it but, i expect they should be able to cancel it when i request it.

Horrible. I absolutely hate this app. All it teaches your kids that trust and freedom aren’t real. Its an insanely insecure app and it is just so controlling that’s not how kids should be raised. The kids that where raised by trust and the most freedom are the kids that are most confident, resilient, and just overall good human beings. If your thinking about buying this app think again because it really hurts your kids instead try talking with them and set boundaries with them and it benefits both you and them. Also if your child is a teenager especially don’t get the app it makes them the most depressed and it affects them the most because parents, believe it or not times have changed and the world is evolving. The best thing for a teenager is a friend and you can’t just bike over to their house anymore a lot of the world is on social media and they want to talk and call but they can’t even do that because this app monitors all that. Just let your child be free and talk to them. That’s the main thing your child wants they want you to talk to them about things like this and give rewards when they do things that you told them to.

Time limits a breeze on free version. First- easy setup for us. Took me all of 2 minutes. Have to have child’s phone in hand. Secondly- I thought I would have to get the paid version, just assumed because that’s how it usually goes right? No. We were able to set time limits, set bedtime, lock when we needed to, and see location. I’m sure there may be more but that’s what I got to, and I’m happy with it. I really just needed it for time limits because as you know, kids want to be on the phone ALL. THE. TIME. Oh one more thing, I can see the apps she has. So instead of having to approve every one, I just go check to make sure she didn’t get anything she wasn’t supposed to- at any time. Overall extremely happy with this app and may upgrade as she gets older to be able to access other features. Thank you Kidslox for making this easy for us!

Not ready for prime time. This is a good concept and I really wished it would work. But it's got too many bugs and issues for them to be charging a monthly fee. I have been supporting them for a while in hopes they can improve the app, and have held off on reviewing. But I'm sort of at the end of my patience with it. Too often it locks my kids' devices permanently and I have to manually reset the following day, even though it should automatically reset. Then when I try to do so, it seems to get stuck resetting, not always, but often enough that it's a hassle for everybody. There are some other issue such as the apps becoming all disorganized. But I could live with those if the other basic functions worked as expected. I'll give it another month or so and then just try to manage my kids' access through a router. Hopefully they can get it all to work because it's a great concept. I wish Apple would just make this all native to their OS. That may eliminate some of the issues.

Really great, five stars with room to keep improving.... I’ve had the app for about six months. It’s very handy to be able to see just how much screen time my teenager has on a daily basis. And it’s nice to be able to automate the duly schedule to whatever we need it to be... There are some areas I wish it could be better in... Firstly, I wish I could monitor and disable/enable texting. There are just some nights where I forget to collect her phone, and even though she can’t use it for Instagram, she can still spend her night texting friends without us knowing about it. Secondly, being able to set time restrictions to entertainment apps specifically... there have been many times my daughter has complained to me that her apps shut off simply because she had music playing without actually using her phone for anything else. It would be nice to have some sort of control over that, but I’m not sure how you would practically implement that. Lastly, I’d love to have the weekly reports reflect exactly how much time was spent within specific apps. Which kind of ties into my previous point... my daughter complains that her apps shut off because she only used the music app, but I don’t actually know if she’s being truthful, I have no evidence of that... All-in-all, great app! Hopefully it continues to improve!

Meh. I downloaded this app because I wanted to restrict use of certain apps. At first it seemed good, but after it goes into lock down mode the apps disappear, once out of lockdown mode they reappear. The only problem is that if you don’t download the other thing all the apps reappear in a random order. The other thing would not download on my phone so I didn’t think it would be an issue. Until later I found myself reordering my apps. I then deleted this app because I didn’t want it anymore, 30min later my phone shut off and I opened my phone to find that the app somehow re downloaded itself and went into lockdown mode again reordering my apps randomly. I finally figured out how to delete it by looking it up and going into the settings. If you download this app and the app icon thing won’t download, don’t get it. Other than the apps problem, the app seemed ok there are definitely some other minor bugs that need to be fixed though, so I would not pay until they are fixed.

I don’t know what’s happening to the app. Hello developer im asking u to fix what’s happening with this app so when my father told my mom about the app she finally could control and time my iPad to 1 hour and she decided to download it, a few minutes passed and it wouldn’t let me enter my favorite game because of my internet, but I didn’t understand because I had internet and then I found out that it was the app so I deleted it but my mom noticed so I downloaded it again but when my mom wasn’t around I deleted it again to play my favorite game, but when I was in the middle of the game, ALL OF MY APPS DISAPPEARED AND THE KIDSLOX APP WAS THERE. I didn’t understand why it was bookmarked because I already deleted it so I deleted it again but when my father told me that I needed the app to get all of my apps back i couldn’t download it again so I cried a lot until my father calmed me down then I had to wait all the night for my mother to help me download the app again so I could get my APPS back but she had to go to work so I felt hopeless that day, then when I woke up this morning and the apps weren’t there so I was still disappointed that my apps weren’t there, then when I was reading of the reviews I really felt hopeless, furious and also sad but my father told me that my mother could fix it and I had to wait and I still waited i don’t know about this app but maybe it has A LOT of glitches so I hope u fix this soon.

Worst App EVER! 🤬 (please read all!!). My daughter has an iPad mini. Unfortunately this app is not completely compatible with my daughter’s type of iPad. Also, the creators have you go on a wild goose chase whenever something is wrong, and none of this software is intuitive. Whoever created this app dose not understand the difference of having a device near by, and actually using the device. My kid was listening to music (please note she was just using the speaker, not the screen) when the app put her IPad on lockdown after she was “using” it after 2 hours. She had no idea that the app has this feature, and she spent 2 minutes frantically trying to recover all her storage she thought she lost. Finally she came to me, and I spent a while explaining that this app DELETES all the other apps until the next day. I had to reset the app, but it just wasn’t the same. All the apps were replaced (with all data in tact) but, some were hidden, and all of them weren’t organized anymore, and my daughter spent 10 minutes organizing her apps again. 😶😡😤

Scary, never downloading this again. At first I thought this app was shady as it asked for some management control which I understand from the contexts of using this app you have to give up some control. Now I did check the reviews before I downloaded this app, and I decided to give it a chance. After downloading, I followed instructions for the files and powering off your phone situation but I’m not sure if it worked properly which might explain why this happens, so I was brushing my teeth some notification popped up and I clicked to open my phone to find all my apps deleted!! This was impossibly frightening, my privacy was exploited and I felt extremely vulnerable like I’ve been hacked. This was even more freaky as I had deleted the app after following instructions for power off your phone because I didn’t want to indulge in such complex stuff and it was getting increasingly more “shady”. But Thankfully the internet helped me as I searched up how to get rid of the app completely by going to settings and etc. ALL IN ALL BE AWARE OF WHAT YOUR DOWNLOADING AND DO IT PROPERLY. (I didn't want to rate this app because I know a lot of effort probably was put into producing it but from my traumatic experience I just want to warn some customers I also understand this worked for some other customers perfectly but I didn’t for me)

庹 汞檪谷水. I hate this app, I don’t have a problem with setting limits on your devices but what I do have a problem with is that it doesn’t let you do anything not even text and before y’all say “ if you are a child” or something I am a child but my mom hates this app too because she gets annoyed when I ask her to unlock my phone i wouldn’t recommend this app there’s so many options they have a lock-in setting it on settings on apple settings but this is unacceptable and unnecessary and I hate it I love the concept of being able to have limits I almost lost a game and honestly if y’all could change a few things then I would probably love this app but that’s not the case 1. It won’t let me ask for minutes 2. When I ask for minutes it freezes 3. When I say momma my phone is still locked she says that it’s not locked so I have to wait for 12 minutes and then the minutes appear there’s so many ways to go about this but y’all ain’t doing it right mkay That’s on what PERIOD BOO SLAYYYYYYYYYY IM TALKING ABOUT THIS REVIEW HAHAHAHAHA HAGS

Don’t try this as an accountability study aid.. I downloaded this as a way to make it slightly more difficult to use distracting apps while studying. I was careful to change the settings to allow everything but the two apps I wanted to restrict. It worked initially, but I noticed my gmail in my email app would not stay logged in. I couldn’t log back in until I put the app back into parent mode. This became too annoying so I just left it on parent mode to get some work done. I should have just deleted it right away. Later that day about 90% of the apps on my iPad randomly disappeared. I thought maybe it was the app so I went into settings to remove the blocker and sure enough they reappeared. Only thing is it deleted my organization and dumped all the apps out of my folders so now I’m stuck manually rearranging everything the way I had it. These things might not be a big deal if the app were being used to safeguard a child’s recreational tablet. But I am a professional student and rely heavily on my iPad for school. It is essentially my textbooks, notebooks, folders, etc. The app has some potential if some of these more serious bugs were fixed. But I will not use it again for my purposes for fear of it deleting anything.

Good start and shows promise. I’ve been using the app now for the 14 day trial and decided to subscribe. I’ve been a Qustodio user and gave another iOS app a try, Screen Time. They just were not meeting my expectations for iOS management. What is winning for me is the user interface on my phone. It’s easy to manage the accounts and changes are a breeze. From my review, there are some things missing, like the ability to schedule texting access, but this cannot be an easy feat to overcome with Apple. Qustodio does this, but there are compromises. I can parent around this for now. Kidslox is in active development which means they are working on and delivering new features. So, if something is missing, suggest it directly to them. I work with development teams, and we LOVE to get nice, thoughtful feedback so we know what to build! Whining and complaining about an app just makes you look like a dunce and motivates no one to work on your features. Keep up the good work and I look forward to new releases!

Hate. I hate when this app because my dad uses it for my and it has ruined my life. First of all it doesn’t let me watch the shows I want to watch in my other apps because they are “inappropriate” for my age level and I am 13 I think I am mature enough. Second of all anytime I do the littlest thing my dad say if you keep it up I will cut screen time off. I then tell him “how would you feel if you screen time got cut off.” He then says that I am talking back and cut my time off after all I was just stating my feelings but you know take it in whatever way you want. And lastly none of my friend have parental control and if they do it is just screen time limits not my dad stocking what I am doing all day and stocking what I am searching. I am a 13 year old girl I have some interesting questions that I want to know the answers to but don’t want my dad knowing I’m searching them. Also I feel like I have no privacy. This is my review. -Emily

Over promised, underdelivered. Admittedly, parental control apps are pretty scarce for iOS in general and screen time does not provide much flexibility, so I was on the hunt yet again for a third party option to gain more control in managing multiple devices for our kids. At first glance this app looked promising, featured a very intuitive interface and was very clear in the steps required to set up (that’s what the 1 star is for) However, once installed it was pretty difficult to manage schedules for more then one child, plus scheduling down time did not actually lock the phone when it was suppose to. PLUS, manually locking the child device through the parental controls, reorganizes the kids apps, which is just another headache to deal with. Overall this app has a nice interface, but does not work. I spent over 2 hours trying to set up schedules and rewards, Only to find out that the app was creating more hassle then help, and frustrating me all the while. That sort of defeats the purpose... so it’s a no for me.

Not worth it. The app doesn’t work half the time. You’re constantly having to mess with the settings because it doesn’t work half the time. On the iPhone specifically the screen time settings work better than this app. If I didn’t have the screen time controls he would have more access to the things that Kidslox is supposed to block and lockdown. I barely have had this app for a month and I’m spending more of my time messaging the company wondering why it doesn’t work than it actually working. This is why I wanted for them to make it a month to month service because $50 for this app is a joke don’t waste your money you’re better off for iPhone specifically using the family share and screen time locks then this app. As for Samsung they warned it doesn’t work as well for that either as there’s videos out there showing how to disable it.

WHY DID IT DELETE MY APPS. So my parents got me this app since I been on my phone too “much”. And my mom put to disabled comments and chats on yt and on Roblox. And I wanted to delete it cause on my saved yt music, it took away all my songs I saved. Some songs didn’t even have bad words, but they still took it away. Then after I tried to delete it and after all my apps came back but the next day the app came back. So I tried deleting it again and all my apps disappeared! And I went to download the app again to see if they would come back, and it didn’t let me download the app again. So if ur a parent and going to get this app and ruin their life, this is the app because I am still trying to get my apps back. And when I tried to download my apps it said I already downloaded them but my whole Home Screen was blank. SO DONT GET THIS APP UNLESS YOU WANT TO RUIN UR KIDS LIFE! Please fix this. Bye and thank you.

Horrible customer support. I tried to use this application. I paid for a membership however, I could not get into the application. When I asked for help from the Customer service group, they would not speak to me. I sent them at least three or four messages and they sent me messages back, telling me to do the same thing I had already done four times. I kept getting confirmation emails that my password has been updated but when I tried to login, it would not accept the password. Customerservice refused to get on the phone with me and would only deal with me through email. When I tried that every email was the same thing a day later they would tell me to do what I had already done. Very frustrating and they would not refund me my money nor did they offer any voice help. I finally had to go through Apple Pay to get them to cancel my membership. I never did receive my money back even though I never used their application. I do not recommend this app.

I don’t know what’s happening with the app. Okay so I’m the kid who’s writing the review but there are some problems when my parents give me time. The first problem is when my parents give me like 30 minutes, the app takes out literally half of the minutes and I had 18. I know this because I stayed on Kidslox looking at my minutes but like 2 minutes later it turned into 18 minutes but this isn’t the first time. My mother gave me 1 hour but it turned into 50 minutes. When my parents give me minutes I always check first. I don’t understand this app. My parents are saying it keeps me off the phone but I can barely talk to friends but what I’m saying is that it ruined my life. Some of my friends don’t even talk to me and I wanna talk to them. Okay, I’m going to stop talking about something stupid and talk about why I’m really typing. This happened a few months ago but kidslox kinda glitches and the glitches are when I can’t type or see the messages my friends sent and I know because I had minutes and I decided to delete kidslox to see if the problems was from that and when I deleted it. All my messages came back But than my dad installed it again. But that problem is gone I don’t think it’s going to happen again. But what I’m trying to say is that you could read this and fix the problems cause I don’t what this to happen all the time, where for every minute I have to look at kidslox to see if it is gone or not. Please fix. Thank you.

About 90% perfect. We downloaded this app for our kids devices. The interface is user friendly and the QR codes make setup quick. I like the ability to restrict not only time and apps, but browser and tv content, etc. you can also pop a device into Parent mode to make changes. Some people complain this app deletes apps. It doesn’t do that, however if you have passed your allotted time, you can’t see the app anymore. Our second issue has to do when traveling. It was very difficult to use the VPN on things like a hotel Internet connection. The app blocked the popup, but you can’t connect to the internet without the popup. So we eventually had to delete Kidslox all together, do what we needed to, then reinstall. It would not allow us to turn of the VPN if we weren’t in parent mode, which we couldn’t do not connected to Internet. But all solved now.

Great Alternative to Apple Screentime. Hardly ever write reviews, but I noticed a bunch of disgruntled kids wrote reviews lately. Wanted to say from the parent perspective this is a very helpful app. The 3 day trial lets you test it out. Then I recommend $80 for lifetime access (vs. $50 for one year). We’ve had nothing but issues with the native screentime app from Apple and appreciate Kidslox as an alternative. We always hated how Apple only gave us the choice or 15 minutes or an hour of additional time. Kidslox lets you choose in 5 minute increments. They also monitor google searches and let you know as a parent what your kids are searching for. It’s a great app if you’re sick of Apple’s default screen time.

No thank you. I understand that this app wants to help, but my mother and I have never been so far apart. I usually need to have something to keep my hands busy, and mg phone is the first thing that comes to mind (when I’m in the car or on the couch or at my moms work). This app made me think about the thin chance of my mother hating me. I know that the developers mean no harm, but every time I ask my mom for screen time she yells at me for not wanting to do something else. When I start something (I’m very artistic so maybe a painting) she also yells at me for “making a mess”. When we go on road trips, even though neither my brother or I are doing anything, when I ask my mom to unlock my phone, she makes an annoyed shrug sound and says “Fine, but only for a little bit”. I know that the developers worked very hard on this app, but it’s just ruined my mother and I’s relationship. I’ve read other people’s reviews, and I’ve seen some of the responses from the developers. Devices could be harmful, but sometimes they are vital for education and learning. Without devices, there would be no online learning or audio books for kids who need them (Dyslexic and/or Autistic). Children do need their limits, but I insist that talking it through can help.

Service terrible; wouldn’t sync for over a day. It worked ok for about two days. I had two children with devices on it. Loved the idea but it really is glitchy. Twice my kids should have had their time restarted the next day and they were stuck in lockdown mode. I would get notifications all day about zone entered and exited when my kids were just sitting In different parts of my house. One other time I couldn’t even manually get it fixed and had to remove the apps and still was having problems. A real jerk of a guy called me to tell me how stupid I was because “it’s supposed to work that way” um no she had not been able to get into her device for two days when it should have reset and I couldn’t do anything to unlock her device. Then he told me I wasn’t getting a refund. Yeah no. I got that refund btw. Even if this was glitchy that fellow sealed the deal for me of not even trying to fix it. Horrible service. All in less than a week. Then I received up to twelve messages by email after that notifying me they were glad to “resolve my issue”. Is this app created by teenagers? I’ll try another app. Steer clear of having to call these rude people.

Awesome product and Lifetime Subscription!!!!. This app is the best of all the screentime monitors I have tried and is the absolute best value when you purchase the lifetime subscription. They have really great customer service via texting within the app and traditional phone support. I have used both and I highly recommend Kidslox if you need help limiting your child's screentime or want to make them focus their screentime on educational apps during school hours, etc. There is a lot of flexibility in the app. You will need to set up advanced features to really enjoy this app to it's full potential. Thanks to Ana at Kidslox for walking me through the process over the phone on a saturday...This mama is sooooo happy!!!

Good, just make sure you offload apps in folders. I got my first phone in January and my papa set this app up so he can see what I’m doing. It even gives you a notification saying it’s in “Parent Mode” to let you know that they have access which I don’t really mind tbh. I got nothing to hide lol. But what I really hate hate hate ( can’t say it enough) is the sheer fact that in lockdown mode it takes all apps that can be deleted and aren’t offloaded and deletes them till it goes back into “Child Mode”. And I naturally turn off my phone at night ( saves time so I don’t need to during the day) and it’s been good at preventing this. But for the past 2 days it’s been a headache putting allergies my apps back in there folders. Everything used to be alphabetized but lately I’ve just been throwing them in. If the developers can somehow remove this, it would be 5 stars. I honestly love that my parents can check my phone w/o taking it. The app works really well but the app deletion seems redundant as screen time settings naturally turn these apps off. :)

I hate this. Hi so I’m 12 and my mom decided to put this stupid app on my phone I don’t know why tho. I’d o my chores get good grades I have been on the a b honor roll all this year so I don’t really understand who ever created this app I hate you you must not know what it’s like to be a kid and also we’re kids to have a childhood we have to have fun and learn new different things in our own way and you timing us on how long we could do that is ruining the fun but when you’re kids grow up and leave the house and doesn't talk to you again then it’s our fault no it’s you’re fault parents for taking advantage of our childhood just because you didn’t have a good one doesn’t mean we can’t let us live parents and I give this app 0 stars I can’t just learn new things without think oh am I running out of time I shouldn’t have to try ink in my childhood when I get kids I guarantee I will not put an app like this on their phone hopefully they don’t exists when I do have them.

Update destroyed this app. I wrote a review the other day but it seems to have disappeared. I’ve been using this app for at least a year and a half and it’s been fabulous. With this new update and the requirement to connect to a desktop to get the premium content working again, it’s been a complete disaster. I spent over two hours the other night trying to get this re-installed and working on my child’s iPad. I kept getting messages from the desktop version that it wasn’t working. Eventually I got it in installed only to realize this morning that whenever I click on an icon to block some thing it doesn’t “take.” I’ve read other reviews in which people said the customer service is horrible so I’m not about to waste God knows how much time trying to email back-and-forth with somebody who’s likely going to just tell me to turn my device back on and off and uninstall and reinstall the app. I’m done and now looking for a new app. What a waste. They should’ve just left well enough alone.

So helpful. My son and I sat down and discussed rules and terms for phone use. He loves video games and would play all day if I allowed that. I was able to customize the controls for his phone to create reasonable amounts of game time. He HATES it! Haha. It shuts off access if your child goes beyond their set time or if you don’t want them on at a certain time they won’t have access to apps then too. It filters out adult content when online. We haven’t gotten to social media yet, but you can have some control with that too. My child cannot delete the app not matter how hard he tries. Trust me he tries, often. I can control all of this from my phone. Being able to regulate phone usage and not having to be right next to him is so convenient. I also feel that he’s safer going online bc I know it’s been filtered. Btw, the one star reviews are often kids bc they can leave a review. My son has left several one star reviews!

Stops working??!. I really liked this app, I could unlock things individually and lock the phone when needed if my son wasn’t doing his chores but every so many days the app just stops working and suddenly my son is up past 10pm on a school night, on his phone until I notice, when the app is set to lock his phone at 8pm!! I pay the subscription so am disappointed my money is being wasted!

Safe for kids. Had to talk with my kid before using this app and now they seem to comply with the Daily Limits and do everything to earn rewards. What a nice discipline.

STAY AWAY, DON’T DOWNLOAD. Absolute rubbish. 8 different URL’s to block a website and both connected devices could still access the website, this is also while the internet block is on and supposed to stop and internet access. Time allowance would still shutdown the device even when not active or using the schedule. Also told that blocking the internet only works if it’s in child mode, once its in lockdown it won’t stop access. Advised to download advanced features on Windows. Wouldn’t even download. ABSOLUTE RUBBISH APP!!! 0 STARS

Check FAQ, is really useful. When you start learning about this app, I recommend to check the FAQ section on their website. It's worth struggling through understanding everything for the results you can get

Full control. I see anything happening on my kid's phone - when the phone was used, sites visited, web searches

best on both stores. This is the best option i've found for mixing samsung and apple phones

IT’S TRASH!. Why I don’t like this app, I used it for my sister, and it goes on lock automatically which deletes all her app (VPN I think) and when I switch it to child the apps comes back not in there position. I don’t understand how to use this cause there are a bunch of times clocks everywhere and I couldn’t understand the instructions. It’s only free for like 2 days. It’s terrible.

Not quite there. Unfortunately I can’t give a good review though I wish I could. My son just keeps deleting the app. Using the native iOS restrictions to stop app deletion is no good because I want to give him control to delete other apps as he pleases whilst in child mode and within his daily limit. So I’m stuck and I’m out of free trial time to keep experimenting. Also, icon fixer is not exactly the neatest way around the app jumbling problem. Kidslox is such an awesome concept otherwise.

Slows everything to unusable. I paid for this app and try to add onto of my daughters devices all the apps ideas are wonderful it slowed it down so that she could actually use either one of them even when it was in the child lock so bit pointless having it on if she can’t even use it.

great functions!. I can even set limits for each app separately within the daily limits. I feel like I can control everything on my child's device

Oh god where do i start on this annoying app DO NOT GET IT KIDS. I am a big organiser, and it DISORGANISES all your apps, as well as kicking them off, and not giving them back without consent. I am a child who is victim to this awful app, but I alone understand that this is an app that matters because “time on your iPad should be limited”. We are going on trial with this app, and I must say, I am disappointed!

WARNING! READ THIS FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILDRENS SAFTEY!. Ok, so, I downloaded this app for my little sister because she has a lot of time on her phone, but after a couple days she pointed something out. She told me that a vpn was on her phone and she couldn’t turn it off. I thought about it and realized that it is an extremely high chance that it was tracking information on my sister. We did a security check on settings and saw her phone was NOT SAFE. She also pointed out something else. She is a TikToker and posts videos actively and has a decent following. She couldn’t post videos on her TikTok account, whenever she tried, a message popped up that read “this video cannot be posted, retry.” Just a reminder she is 12 turning 13 in November which makes her the legal age for TikTok. Something else is that the wifi doesn’t work even when it’s turned on and on full bars. I have come to realize that this is a Chinese spy app proofed by in-depth research. <>

Only 3days trial and unable to cancel. Feeling scammed. Their is no clear guide on this app and make user to register to proceed and subscribe. Once you register and subscribe notice is coming up saying only 3 days trial and need to decide to upgrade premium and charged automatically. Trying to cancel but found no option in the menu and contacted support who still haven’t done it. Tried to delete account and it is saying that subscription remained and it can be charged. I am still waiting for them to cancel my subscription and delete account. This company doesn’t look legitimate and be careful to register this. They seems to collect information and make it so difficult remove it.

Happy with this app. We have used the kidslox app for 6 months and I’ve just renewed it. We set it for 1 hour during weekdays and 2 hours on weekends and it always works. Also easy to add more time or lock it if needed.

Complicated and difficult to set up. Although the basic functions of this app seem ok, using it seems unnecessarily complicated, with multiple things that need downloading and lengthy process. I wanted to allow a music lesson app but this required an extra download on my computer then scanning of qr quote and even then I couldn’t get it to work properly. Why not have a simple and easy to use app that can be installed and used quickly? It also used up the daily limit time that I set for my son while I was trying to use the app, so not very well thought out.

Brilliant - very happy user.. This is the best purchase from the App Store that any parent could make on behalf of their children. Being able to set when my children’s devices shut down is fantastic. I don’t have to worry about the devices being used after bedtime. The weekly report is a great way of starting a discussion with the children about screen time and appropriate use. I wish there was a similar thing for gaming consoles.

Reliable. Time tracking work well, blockes teh phone after 1 hour of usage

The best!. Children Should have their own phones and other gadgets, but parents Must control the time and content they are looking at. This is a great option for doing it

Full control. I see anything happening on my kid's phone - when the phone was used, sites visited, web searches

Don’t risk it. I downloaded this app to help me with my phone addiction. I had my first lockdown and after that my apps were everywhere (sorted into alphabetical order, which I know from the email received before lockdown) what I didn’t know was that it got rid of most of my settings for that app. Also I had deleted the app before the lockdown and I totally freaked when all my apps disappeared. I had to set the time limit again to fix it. It was scary for me because the app still had access to my phone even when I had already deleted it.

Why. This app is hell ok your kids should not be leaving under time limits people on tik tok my age say that it efects the meantal heath this app is just a no so parent please just don’t ok please

Could not delete. I wanted to delete my account but could not as I was unable to log out or delete my daughter’s account. Another flaw in the system is that my daughter used up all her time for the day and was unable to use her phone the entire day after that. We could not delete my account no matter what and when the account was not on lockdown the app disappeared. Would NOT RECOMMEND

Not secure. Didn’t perform as planned. My daughter had her phone but was out of internet range for a few days and the app uninstalled itself, thus unlocking all restrictions. She phoned me to say it wasn’t working (she knew she had a restricted phone, and was OK with that, but realised restrictions were off) and i called Kidslox to question this and they said it happens if there is no communications... we can show you how to turn off that feature. Feature? Removing a lock is a feature? So, useless. I need an app that keeps restrictions. Amazingly weak.

Too good. Look this is an amazing app but when I didn’t want it anymore so I uninstalled it. But when it was time for it to be restricted it went onto my device after i uninstalled it. It is stupid and you need to fix it!!

very grateful. I thought that the app stopped working. But the support team helped me to discover that my child found out my Kidslox PIN. I changed it and everything is working great

Useless. Didn’t shut down after the allocated usage times, remote parental control also didn’t work when trying to shut down/lock devices. The 2 week trial showed me where NOT to spend/waste my money!! Further to this at the end of the trial it has totally screwed up my kids iPads to the point where I can’t even restore them!! 😡😡😡

Update issues. I’m trying to get a hold of Support Team and they seem to be taking more than 48 hours to respond. It there a more efficient way to communicate and rectify my issues?? I’ve used the message portal to contact you guys and I’m still waiting for a reply for just over 2 days now !! Need quicker assistance please !!

perfect app for me. The most convenient thing is that you do not need to be near your child in order to control him. I work all day, so this app is perfect for me

Buggy but ok, not worth the price with the issues though.. Constantly having issues with streaming services cutting out with it, the timer counting down incorrectly, not being able to use the telescope feature or the app itself not working because it’s “jammed”. If it worked like it was meant to, I think it would be an amazing tool. But it’s so buggy and has so many issues that I regret spending so much money on it.

Waste of time and money. We bought this with high hopes. My phone kept telling me the kids iPads were under control but after a few days they just stopped responding for some reason. The help desk has me going through a process of uninstalling/installing to try and fix it... it seemed to work for a few days. A frustrating and useless app that I had such I hoped for.

Almost perfect!. I love this app. It’s simple to use and easily controlled from my phone (rather than iTunes as so many are). To make it perfect, might I suggest creating an option to exclude certain apps (i.e educational apps) from Lock Down Mode. For example, At Spelling is one app I’d like my children to use at will. Currently however, the app is removed when their iPad’s are in Lock Down Mode.

Time Lock Feature Is Cooked. The time lock feature of the app (which is the main selling point of the app) doesn’t work. The app consistently locks early. When you set it to lock after one hour the phone will lock after 30 minutes. Then when you give your child the 30 minutes they never got the phone locked in 15 minutes. Then when you give your child the last 15 minutes the phone locks in 7.5 minutes. This is all verified the the screen time feature built into the iPhone proving how the Kidslox feature does not work.

Settings help. Great idea but how do we set the APP so it doesn’t affect operation of things they need to use eg. Headphones won’t work when kidslox is enabled and I can’t override it on sons tablet also affects multiplayer games. I cannot see where to change this is APP. When I delete kidslox device works fine again. I would love to keep using this if I knew how to naval gate those issues mentioned ?

Kidslox is not working. It is not working! It started out great, but has stopped working on my child’s iPad. It allowed me to see what my child was downloading, how many iPad hours were being used and sent me daily reports. Since the app asked me to update to Advance Features it has stopped working 100%. I have contacted the Kidslox support team and they have emailed me back and forth requesting me try different ways of updating the app to Advance Features, but nothing has worked. This dates back to April 2023 when I first contacted Kidslox. They have now told me to contact Apple if I would like a refund. Please help me

Locks iPad when no internet and blocks iPad completely once free trial ends. I was so excited with the potential for this app. We have shared custody of my son and his screen time is unmonitored at his dad’s house. I thought this could be the perfect solution. He went there and immediately his iPad was blocked due to having no internet connection. Due to not being able to use Kidslox properly and the myriad frustrations of the blocked apps I decided not to pay for the premium version. As soon as the trial ended the iPad locked and I was unable to change it. Deleting my account and app has not worked. Not has giving him the passcode to delete things on his end. I do not know how to fix this remotely and am worried I won’t even be able to fix it in person. Kidslox has effectively destroyed my son’s new iPad. Beware.

Daily limit is what I like the most. Allows to give my child no more than 2 hours of phone usage a day

Great app. This is a great app! I love it and my teen hates it. The only issues I really have is it uses 87% battery and drains my sons phone quite quickly. It also says that the device settings aren’t locked on my phone but he cannot even get into his settings to connect to wifi so that’s a bit irritating. He’s trying to get me to delete it for these issues and continues to remind me how frustrating it is.

Time rewards. It's nice to give kids more time on the phone if they do something useful

HOT GARBAGE. This app is a no go if I could rate this app 0 stars I would because on my child’s iPhone 5s, it doesn’t even work and your child could just offload the profile download using the passcode of their device which renders the app useless also, this app uses a VPN which sometimes really slows down the network connection plus, deleting the VPN (which sometimes redownloads the app but doesn’t appear to happen on this one) and then delete the app (which also renders the app useless and if you give your child the device before the fixer downloads, they can just delete it

Parents like it, kids are getting used to it. The app is useful as it allows kids to regulate their own screen time. The settings for allowing screen time between certain hours of the day has helped my kids have a better relationship with time and sleep. For example, my son knows the iPad will be in lockdown mode before 8am and therefore is not in a rush to get up. It would be useful to have the ability to allow some apps in child mode.

It is ok. This app is ok. It was promoted in an article written by kidslox for reducing phone use. My phone is definitely better but so many teething issues. Apps that I lock are still available, QR apps keep logging me out after the mode changes and it doesn’t seem to work properly without location tracking being constantly on. So not a waste of money but it can be a really annoying app too.

Reliable. Time tracking work well, blockes teh phone after 1 hour of usage

Add more than one parent's device. The option of adding several parent devices to one account is really helpful, especially when parent jobs require much travelling

Not what I was looking for. The App has good intentions but it’s execution is not great. There’s a bug (due to how the app works with iOS) which makes the icons on your phone rearrange itself. They have cleverly found a work around which is to install another app and do a short hack but I don’t want I go through all that. Also, my daughter can just delete the app which makes its whole purpose redundant. Like the idea but need needs work on user experience and execution.

DO NOT PURCHASE. If I could give less than one star I would. This app is completely useless, and this is the reason why: For this app to work a VPN (If you are not a tech savvy parent, please search what this is) must be downloaded on the device that you are trying to control. Now, this VPN must always be turned on otherwise this app is rendered useless. So here’s the punchline: You purchase this parental control app to help you limit your child's screen time on their device, however the device you are trying to control has the ultimate control because they are able to turn the VPN off which disables the app and you no longer have any control over the device were trying to control in the first instance. This point is also not made clear at all by Kidslox anywhere within their app profile so be very careful prior to upgrading to the premium service, as Apple will not provide you with a refund for this very obvious and misleading point (Believe me, I tried). There is no point in having a parental control app when the ultimate control sits within the device that you are trying to control. A complete and utter waste of money - DO NOT PURCHASE

I HATE KIDSLOX. I hate this every time I play bad get exited Kidslox turns off my app and I get really angry and destroy stuff in my house every parent delete this app NOW or your kid will go crazy

Crashing app when changing modes. Been using it for the past 3 years to controls kids iPads. However, it keeps crashing after the recent updates. That has been very disappointing. Crashing when changing modes! Can this be fixed please? Been going on for some time..

Excellent. I've tried just about every single parental control app in the app store but this one works the best for iOS devices and had the most functionality.

PLEASE UPDATE. I loved how the app looked like, I accidentally disturbed my mum when all my time was removed. I still loved it anyway! I hope the creator installs a new update. Even though my time was still up, I have two other gadgets. The only thing that doesn’t interest me is the schedule. So I was thinking… just remove the schedule. Like, seriously. I had to ask my mum to regain it. I still use it nowadays. But I can finally get rid it this app when I’m 18 years old. I’m about to turn 10 so…

Best Parental Control App. After searching for so long for an app that was easy to use and had all the functionality I needed, I was so happy to stumble across this app. Super easy to use (which others I’ve tried all lack) and has all the functions I could need. Has made screen time so much better in house for everyone!

I can’t delete. It keeps telling me to pay and I don’t even have the app so fix this bug

Annoying. It works like it’s supposed to, but every time I try to read on my iPad at night, (I’m allowed to) my iPad goes to my lock screen and half of my apps disappear, including my app that allows me to read! And even after my parent deleted this, it kept on happening. One word. Annoying. 😑👎

It is UNLOCKED when it is locked in the Parent phone. Why is it still unlocked when I locked it on my parent phone

Bad. So i was monitoring my own phone, and the all the apps were okay but then when i deleted the apps all the apps stopped working

Problem?. Uh, my dad broke it?? Like he was mad at us right? Then he decided to do something and then it just broke. Like I had the decision to delete it, of course I did but the internet was like slow and stuff. Idk what he did so now its just broken :(

Kidslox. Good app to give a little control over a huge part of children’s lives these days. I have four children and they have all been the last amongst their friends to get a device. We didn’t believe in just handing it to them. The app works well and encourages my kids to do other things which is why I like it. Has caused a few tantrums but hey, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger .. right!!

I’m literally uncomfortable with this app and this app SUCKS. I feel uncomfortable whenever people look through my stuff, it’s weird and I don’t like it I’m a child and I’m uncomfortable over this it makes it worse, just let me play Roblox and let me have a great time I’m not doing anything weird😐 I have a literal screen time limit and I see this app which makes me mad and I don’t like it at all. Actually I’m having enough with these apps whoever’s making these delete this app right now 🤬🤬. “4+” I’m not 4 brah I hope this app gets deleted and never comes back EVRR AGAIN. Like I’m not that weird at all bruh this app sucks. Your literally making every child’s life even worse so stop it and we get it you want to invade privacy. This is the most horrible ugly app ever. I hope you never come back again because I hate this app and makes my childhood a bad life like you destroying it rn😭💀 I NEVER WANNA SEE THIS APP EVER AGAIN. I’m going to start a hate crime

Stupid. This app is stupid it won’t give me my apps back when I deleted it

If I could I’ll but 0 stars. I hate this app so much my dad installed it on my phone without my permission and now controls everything i do on it I can’t do anything my whole private life is gone because of this stupid app.

Ukraine is Russia. Ukraine is not a democracy! A democracy does not get involved with other countries Elections like in 2016 against President Trump! Zelenskky was propped up by Obama and is his puppet! Ukraine is the top 5 for corruption in the world! There are 10 to 12 different countries that are under attack that are having horrible things done too their people why is this the red line in the sand for the world? why? what about the children in Ethiopia and women? what about the children and women in Yemen? what about the families in Syria? what about all those women and children in China? why Russia? I don’t ever wanna put my life, money or support behind something that just doesn’t seem right somethings off here where is the Ethiopian flag or the Uighur flag at? Was it the mobile crematoriums? was it the mobile blood bank with a shelf life of blood for only 42 days? was it the building of field hospitals? was it the drastic number of troops from 40,000 to 150,000 troops on the border? Looks like this was a set up all the way around and now Ukraine is getting played from both sides and fighting the USA‘s proxy war against Russia! Where is the outrage for the Uighurs?!?!? Unfortunately this is what happens when you allow the West to infiltrate your cultures and your society, you get played, so live and learn! And isn’t it funny how Zelenskky hides but likes to come out for the cameras God he is a great actor! Last comment here what happened to over the $600 million plus of military aid that President Trump gave them in 2017 looks like they pocketed that to! To all the women and children in other countries all around the world that are at war also my thoughts and prayers go to you! you are the ones that are suffering the most without any type of media coverage any type of donations or food and or help etc.!

3 hours of work gone. So I made a bunch of folders and when locked all apps are scatters around fix this

UGGHHHHH. I HATE IT!!!!! It doesn’t let kids do ANYTHING!!!!!👎🤬👎🤬

Average. It’s definitely a good app for parents but I have a comment: this happens to me all the time, if I don’t listen my mother she will lock my device which is annoying and unfair and I’m 13 so I don’t think I even should have this app, I'm aware of how it works because parents do want to keep kids safe, but it does take a lot of privacy from you which I hate because I don’t like my parents knowing everything I do. And pls don’t tell me to talk to my parents about my screen time because I don’t have a problem with that.

Its bad. I hate it now my parents can block my phone without my permission

Loopholes. At first I loved this app, until I realized that my kids had found a very basic loophole , they were clicking on Apple News which the app can not block and from there they were able to access YouTube/tiktok/instagram !!! I quickly cancelled my subscription and switched to apple screen time

Frustrating. I deleted the app because it was messing with the layout and widgets and stuff. Even though I deleted the app it glitched and reinstalled itself and messed with my phone.

Don’t download this app. This app caused most of my other apps not to work. When I went to delete the app it would not let me delete without connecting a usb to a computer (which I don’t own) and downloading iTunes and their own uninstall software. They also claim to cost $5/month for their service, however after a 2 day trial to continue with their service you must pay for a full year regardless of when you cancel the subscription. There is no live support to call with any questions.

Advanced features are a pain to set. In order to use the advanced features, you need a computer with iTunes. Set-up doesn’t check if you already have it and forces a download of an older version, which can’t be installed. Can’t get by that point in the installation. Very frustrating, so far seems to be a waste of my money. Ended up uninstalling, or so I thought. This uninstalls from my PC, but there is still a pop-up window to set up the account every time I restart my pc. Similar issue on my son’s phone. This app/program sounds great, but doesn’t do what it says it can and ends up being as difficult to remove as malware.

Parent. This app is stupid, like good concept and everything but the fact to be able to pic what apps you want to block from you child phone costs money, like not all people can pay that monthly and if you don’t your options are to lock all the apps on your child’s phone or have them all opened, just stupid!

HORRIBLE. it is the worst app ever it doesn’t keep any of my apps (EVEN THE GAMES!) worst app do not recommend (IM 15 BTW!)

WONT LEAVE!. We deleted the app but two more popped. The app won’t leave and it doesn't give any option to delete or even hide. When deleting we signed in on parent account, but it doesn't make a difference.

Misleading and disappointed. This app advertised all the great features. I upgraded to “family plan” only to find out I need to connect it to a computer to use those features. I don’t have a computer to do that and now I have wasted $69.99. Very disappointing.

All of u all giving bad reviews are kids. Bro it’s not that ur a kid that kids lock sucks ! At least be grateful to have a phone or iPad

Scam. It says 4 dollars something per month but they charge you the whole year after you accept subscription , so even if you cancel after a month you still paid for 1 year !!!

Not functional after a while. I paid for kidslox service and It worked at first but when I tried to register my son’s phone again and it’s asking me to do complicated process, premium version update ect that doesn’t work

Pretty ok. Over all the concept is great and it does for the most part work, but I do find it glitches when switching modes on devices which can be frustrating.

It sucks. I have some reasons why this is sucks here are the reasons. 1. when you give parents the power to look At your privacy as in what you watch, and search, it turns parents in to monsters who do things that you never thought they would do (as in telling people rudely and unexpectedly) and you tell them not to look at your privacy they get mad and come up with excuses like “well I need to make sure that your safe”. 2. Now on multiple reviews that you replied to at the end you say something on the lines of “it’s so we can keep you, and your studies healthy” and I’m looking at the part where it says that a phone will dis improve studies, but no social media improves studies because it makes it so you can learn about the stuff you care about and not the stuff that will not do anything because you have no interest in that and interest = focus, no focus makes it very hard to learn. Now don’t you dare say “if your a kid discuss it with your parents”.

I CANT ACCESS MY PHONE ???. I’m not a kid but I downloaded it to limit a bit of screen time. Suddenly, I was kicked out of all apps while texting a friend around 10PM so I thought it was the app. I deleted the app yet I STILL can’t access anything or download anything. I’m starting to get worried and I’m EXTREMELY angry about what just happened. Will never trust an app with information or access to anything AGAIN because of this dumb app!

Good app. Ye it makes sure I can’t use my phone for more then 30 min but when ever it locks it ruins the placement of my apps is there a way to fix its very tedious to to sort them again and doing that will use time as well

Stopped working, don’t waste your money. Worked well at first now somehow isn’t registering my sons use on his phone so he now has unlimited access. Will be looking for something else

Only yearly subscription available. App seems to be nice, but only yearly subscription is available.

Excellente appli. Quelques bogues mais sinon c’est vraiment bien !

Annoying. When I I’m playing it will just make my fun apps go away till Morning and I can only have my games till 8:00pm and I don’t like that. This app is one word annoying

Kidslox. 1: this app is giving parents too much power its insane children need their own privacy its not fair 2: this app keeps slurping the data form my kids and me so can’t talk to him when he’s out and I feel scared about if he’s hurt or not 3: this app it blocks videos of people he’s subscribed to which I APPROVED form getting to him and its getting annoying And don’t you dare say “ if you’re a kid you need to discuss this with you’re gradian/parent”

Not good for older children. Waste of money. My 14 year old daughter was able to delete her profile without being asked for a password or anything. She has a problem with Instagram and Snapchat and this was helping to keep it at bay. One night she was angry and figured out how to delete profile and not allow me to control her phone. Useless app.

Easy to bypass for a 12 years old. It took a week for my son to learn how to bypass it. Paid 50$ for nothing!

This sucks. This app sucks because my mother has taken advantage of me not only does she get to see my text apparently but she locks my phone as a joke and then she wont unlock it she gets way to much power on this and it’s annoying like i ask for time 10 million times and she wont unlock it and its just so annoying kick her off pls 🤣

I would give it 0 stars. I would give it 0 stars but that’s impossible. The app admin of access to all of your apps and private information so don’t get

Horrendous. This app is absolutely horrendous. It requires you to get another computer to install the full features. I tried installing them (all the requirements were there) and it just deleted some apps from my phone and didn’t change anything within the app. My phone is now being permenantly supervised and I cannot delete the supervision from my phone without going to other third party apps. This was supposed to help me and it has turned into a 4 hour work project. You guys are morons.

I hate it. I accidentally deleted the app while it was on lockdown now I cannot remove the lockdown

Dont do thisss. Bro leave ur kids alone this is so annoying and they will loose their trust in you. This will also make them resent you.

THE HELL. my mom doesn't let me delete it and gives me three hours I like I HAVE SCHOOL

Shut down this app. This is trash

Totally Garbage. I paid 1 year subscription fee and app has many problems, no customer service!

Makes all the difference.. I have a 7.5 year old and 5 year old triplets and monitoring screen time with the kids is hard depending on the day. This way I can shut it down and hold it hostage if they did not earn t or begin fighting. I would really like to see individual child profiles on this app because having to reset time for each child is annoying, but the actual function of the app is very handy.

Disgusting. I absolutely hate this app whoever invented it is the worst this is the worst app to exist and it sucks it also gets rid of half my apps which makes my phone look horrible if I could I’d give this a zero star

Hate it sm. Get this app if u want ur kids to hate u !!!

Annoying. You should delete this app Kidslox it’s useless

The heck. My kin even hates me having to ask for more time because she adds more god Damon time and it doesn’t stay that time every time. I swear there is gonna be problems pretty soon because of how much I’m having to ask for time. REMOVE THIS FEATURE

Wish this had been around about ten years ago!!. Kidlox has put my mind at ease. I no longer have to harass my son into putting up his device. I set the limits/schedules and I’m done! A God send for this very busy career focus single mom! Also — I had a question when initially setting up. I called the 800 number and an incredibly helpful rep walked me easily through what needed to be done. She was very patient and helpful even waiting while I walked though what she told me to do so I could be assured it was functioning properly. Kudos to Kidslox for not only a great product, but also a great client experience!

It’s good but a few problems.. This app is a great way to keep your child safe and off the bad sad of the internet. There are a few problems overall that kidslox should fix, and I’m sure some of you experienced this. My daughter is not able to use her data when we are in the car or like at a place that s doesn’t have WiFi, and whenever I click allow WiFi it just doesn’t allow her to use data. This is a problem because I have to let her use my personal hotspot and that doesn’t work as well, for example she would connect to my hotspot but she still wouldn’t have data which I think is because of kidslox. We deleted the app to see if that was the problem and it was. Hopefully the people who made the app can fix this problem!

Doesn’t work; wasted $50. The features are what I wanted but it doesn’t work. Screen time is not enough for me. I want my daughter’s iPad to be locked when she comes home from school so that she will come to me to unlock it once she has done her homework. I also want it to lock at her bedtime. Requirements seem simple but you can’t do it in screen time. So I pad $50 for a one year subscription to this app. There were multiple showstopper problems. I tried to lock my daughter’s device but it said her device was not connected to the internet. Meanwhile she was face timing me from it so obviously it was on the network. I emailed support and they said the internet connection wasn’t good enough. Yet there she was face timing me in high resolution. My sons iPad was locked all day. The parent app said it was unlocked. I tried everything to unlock it and nothing worked. Only when I removed Kidslox did it return to functioning normally. I’m done. Too many hours of troubleshooting trying to get this app working. Too bad. Back to screen time which is a compromise because it doesn’t have what I want.

Don’t get for self-management; also rearranged my entire phone.. I don’t have kids but I would love an app that helps manage how I use my time on my phone. This seemed really promising, but it only can block or put timers on about 5% of the apps on my phone. I created an account, set it up, decided it wasn’t for me, and deleted the app. No harm no foul, right? Nope. 7pm, hours after the app was deleted, I took out my phone to find it locked and the Kidslox app reinstalled. I logged in and found every app removed from every folder and scattered all around my phone. I must have spent thirty minutes putting everything back where it belongs. I know the devs are aware of this bug, but why does it exist at all? Why is this app allowed to be installed when there’s such a nasty side effect? Maybe use it for your kids, but be really careful if you’re installing it for yourself and don’t want your app organization to explode.

No. I hate this my parents installed it and I hate it. It does not give you any warning about when your time is getting low but it should I hate this app and I wish it never existed. All I did was say no once and my parents installed it I can even use messenger kids to talk to my cousin. If I could rate this a 0/5 I would. Overall this app should not exist. Your silly green background with a heart won’t fool me I hate this app and I wish I could throw it in a fire and watch it burn. This app is a complete waste of money why waste it when you could take THREE SECONDS to take the phone. Also teenage girls use there phone to calm down. I had a drawing app I used to calm down and this doesn’t keep it so I could be drawing instead of writing this review for this awful app

Great app. I am very happy with this app because it’s make very easy for parents to block unneeded website and limit the time for their kids on their iPads with screen time limit. The only thing I would like to have is one more profile for school where it will be used only for school apps and links. I highly recommended this application to be used on each child iPad or even mobile phone because it’s more safe to be used during the time of the parents absence where you can control it from anywhere.

Disappointing. This app has the potential to be very useful but was a waste of money for me. When it works, I love it and child mode allows control over whatever apps you select. Great, I thought I found something that was going to solve a lot of the electronics arguments in our household. What I found was that the app would just randomly stop working after a period of time. At first I thought my son was turning it off somehow, so I put the phone in lockdown and took it to work with me. Within a couple hours, the lockdown stopped working and I could access whatever I wanted, for as long as I wanted. I tried this experiment several times and could not make the parental control functions work consistently. I tried contacting Kidslox support several times but none of the advice they gave me fixed the problem. It eventually became too time consuming too keep trying to fix it and I decided to look for an app that actually works.

Needs more. There should be a way to block your kid from going into the settings and turning off the VPN for kidlox. Also, it said it was going to be like $5 a month and then charged me for an entire year at once. Having to hook it up to a computer to add “advanced features” is ridiculous. I also tried to adjust the settings so TikTok would work and that was a waste of my time. I had high hopes for this app but once your kid figures out all they have to do is switch the VPN off in the phones settings.. it’s over. It doesn’t even notify the parent when it happens either, the only way I figured it out is he had been on his phone for hours and I looked at his time limit and not one minute for the day had been used.

App is great but a few issues. This app is really great, you can make sure your child isn’t doing what they are supposed to, and keep them safe. There is an issue however that I know some other people are having as well, it’s the data. Whenever My daughter uses her phone without WiFi her data doesn’t work, I’ve clicked WiFi acces and if tried a few things but the data doesn’t work. I deleted the Kidslox app to see if it was the problem and it was. My friend also has Kidslox on her daughters phone and she is had the same issue she said it fixed on it’s own and her daughter was able to use her data somehow. Hopefully The developers could fix this problem or tell me if I’m doing something wrong!

Great app but I have a glitch. Love the app! I have it on my kids phones and it works great. I like the idea of being able to set limits to keep them from being on the phone all day. But i found a glitch, at night when the phones are in the lockdown mode they are using time off of their limits for the next day. I know the phones aren’t being used because they gave them to me to keep over night and they weren’t touched. All apps were closed prior to going to bed so its not an app running in the background. This is frustrating because I wonder how much it does this during the normal day when they aren’t on it? The next option it to turn the phone off but that doesn’t help during an emergency. Hopefully the builders can look at this and see if they can find a fix.

From one of the children. I have a very much good reason to hate this app. This app does what it says yes, but by applying this to my phone where my mom can access whether I talk to my dad or my friends is horrible. It’s definitely not the company’s fault but it ruins me, as a child. Think of your children & how they feel before you do this. I realize this probably means that I seem like I’m addicted to my phone, well that’s not the case. I barely use my phone. I use it to contact people because, if you didn’t know, there is this whole pandemic thing going around. Writing this review is also helping me vent in a way. I apologize to everyone who is in my position. Yes, for some this is a great app. But I think the app should ask what the reason is for downloading the app & they should decide whether or not to let the parent control their phone. Thanks :)

Doesn’t work. The reason that I purchased this app from you is so that I could regulate my sons phone from my own. The app promises to allow a (1) daily time limit, (2) a daily schedule so that his phone is in lockdown mode during school hours and bedtime. For months, the app hasn’t been doin this and we’ve been trying to fix it on our own, thinking maybe it was something we weren’t doing right. When I finally wrote to you, the first thing you did was to blame it on my kid, saying he’d probably gotten my password and changed his own settings. This is ridiculous, given that he’s not in my home (or around my phone, for three days a week and I know that the password is secure.) When I wrote this back, you said it’s a known problem with the app and you’re trying to fix it!? In essence, you’re telling me that you’ve continued to take a monthly fee from me, knowing that you’re app doesn’t work, correct?

Lockdown mode and usage of phone. As an update, I’ve gotten quite used of the app and works well for my 11 year old kiddo. I give it a solid 4 star rating because I believe improvements can be made. That said, the value for the app far exceeds those others that have the same features. So far great app, but a couple issues. I'd like to see the ability to lockdown the iPhone, but yet be able to make a call. After all that is the basic function of the device. Also, device was in lockdown mode based on a schedule and I was still able to use apps. Misconfiguration by me maybe? Will give more stars once these issues are addressed.

Great idea but doesn’t work. This app has a great deal of promise and purports to do some great things. However, when the inevitable phone update comes, which was about half a day into using this device, the child profile was deleted. Re-installing and re-setting up the child’s phone resulted in the appearance of it working from the parent phone, but did not result in lockdown on the child’s phone. The app provides plenty of opportunities to learn to install, uninstall, and become frustrated with the app not functioning as described. The child phone will also not update to the latest iOS version. Also, please note that the advertised 3 day trial period did not work at all. Happily, paying the app store for this effectively non-functioning app worked perfectly. Maybe you will have better luck, but you will certainly have to pay to find out.

Glitch Adds time (17 hours!!) might as well time it myself. When this app works, it is good. On more than several occasions over the past two months, the app has mysteriously added 17 hours to my kids’ time limit. This is worse than not having the app at all because my child uses the device much longer than he should while i am counting on Kidslox to keep track. That is the point of the timer on the app, correct me if I am wrong. That being said: the developers are very responsive and very interested in making this app work. I have edited this review added stars after tech support fixed some issues. I hope to get this review up to 5 stars.

Meh...look for something else. This was great....for the first couple of days. Then all of a sudden my phone goes to “lockdown” mode and most of my apps are missing. You have to download a second app to prevent this app from rearranging your apps into alphabetical order. I’m about to delete this app. I want my phone back and tired of having this take over my phone when I was using it to monitor my children’s phones. IN RESPONSE TO THE DEVELOPERS RESPONSE: While I understand that it MUST seem like I somehow added the restrictions to my phone, I did not. I checked and double checked. And I had to continue to remove the restriction on my phone because it kept going into shutdown mode. And the app to prevent my existing apps from moving around....impossible to download. What exactly is the purpose of Kidslox moving apps around?? Again, I had to remove the app from all phones. To many issues to correct. Not worth my time.

My kids hate it so it’s awesome. My kids (mainly the 10 year old) hate it so I of course love it as it is doing its job. My 10 year old asked why I put it on there and I explained it was because she was takin. Advantage of the opportunity to utilize her tablet for learning purposes (the reason I got it) and spending way too much time on it and just using it for entertainment and not the learning apps. Now I am able to make it so that all that she can access is her educational stuff, her messenger kids so she can chat with the grandparents, and 1 purely entertainment thing that she is only able to access on the weekends now that’s to this app :).

Pushy app permissions and limited functionality. The app insists that tracking permissions are required on the monitoring phone that it wouldn’t need to do its job as a remote. It also asks every time it is opened to enable push notifications to function properly and you will have to skip the prompt twice before you can get into the program. When I contacted support about how to disable the prompt they were not helpful but simply repeated what the permission prompt said that the app cannot work properly without push notifications enabled. I told them that they hadn’t explained anything new to me and that designing their app to need push notifications is a flaw. The app only allows time in general to be limited and does not provide the ability to limit the time of specific apps. It is more likely this app is spyware designed to data mine both the parent phones and monitored phones.

Too buggy. My parents installed this app some few months ago for me and my other siblings. I can understand the purpose of this app and why it would be helpful to parents, however, there have been multiple occasions where my apps randomly shut down and won’t reappear even after my mother turns child mode on, It also adds hours to our devices when no one adds them. It’s also extremely easy to turn off the timer. I don’t enjoy this app obviously, as I enjoy using my phone. But it’s very practical for adults and works fairly well. I just think these bugs NEED to be fixed as they are extremely annoying and happen too often for the pricey subscription.

Please read if you are a parent. Restricting time or certain content on your child's phone will only cause a divide between you. As a 17 year old girl leaving to college soon with this app on my phone, I can say with certainty I feel no sort of affection towards either of my parents. It has been a constant battle between us for my freedoms that has caused me to be both mentally harmed and lose my family. Not only that, but it also wont stop your child from doing anything you don't want them to do. I still can watch porn and buy vaping stuff from eBay, but just with a little more effort. All this app can do is bring harm to your child and your relationship with them. So for the love of god let your child be free! Sheltering your child will only cause them to act out and you wont ever have a good relationship with them.

Good app. It's good app. I just became paid subscriber after going thru trial. I believe they are still cheapest. I like that you can control the device even if the kid deletes the app on their phone . Also like the scheduling. Few things I think it should add on : 1. Currently for lockdown mode , there is no preferences of the apps or things you want your kids to have & haven't. 2. In any mode , It doesn't have the option to list what apps your kids have on their phone so that you can choose to block the ones you want and the ones you don't . 3. In child mode need to have some more modes so that you can schedule different modes.

What happened?. Did something change? I’ve been using this for a few years now. I was able to set up a schedule, and it’s been active for forever. I made the mistake of tuning it off and now it won’t let me turnt back on and it’s telling me I can’t have any, yet in the faq it states we could have one on a free account. Can no longer block apps either. The tablet I use this for has limited apps so the rearranging/getting rid of folders part is no big deal really. The point of this is to limit/control use, so I’m unsure why so many are upset about that. I’m just bothered that features I did have are no longer there. Will probably be deleting and just use screen time instead. :/ Always wanted to get the lifetime subscription but prices are never listed. I’ll pass now.

Lots of issues. The app worked well at first. Then, when I began to add time past the schedule I ran into issues. The app now doesn’t seem to follow the set start and end schedules. It would be scheduled to be on, but my children would be asking me to turn it on. This was before the timer had said that they had used any of their alloyed time. Then, I found that my son could use his iPhone 7 even though I had it “turned off”. Finally, my son taught my daughter how to erase the app from her iPad. Now, I will have to reinstall although, if they can come back and erase it, that would be a moot action.

Sorry not sorry. The reason I don’t like this app is because I only get 3 hours a day on my phone and on breaks I’m home almost all day and I have nothing to do and after my time runs out I ask my mom to give me just a little bit more time and she doesn’t she says “to bad you shouldn’t have used up all your time” and it kinda makes me mad. I also don’t like this app because my mom can see my texts (well at least she says she does) but I think that us kids should have a little more privacy. I also don’t like how my mom can see what time I got on one of my games or something like that (idk how all of this works). Sorry but I just don’t like this app AT ALL because It feels like I’m being watched and like I’m in jail or something💀💀💀💀💀

Terrible app! don’t waste you time. I put this app on my son’s phone to limit time on the phone. I signed up for the free trial to see if we liked the app but did not and I immediately went into cancel the next day but come to find out it never canceled. it also signed me up for a year of services from them which I never signed up for and now I am trying to remove the app from my sons phone and it will not allow me to do so. it’s very frustrating. The app never worked properly from the beginning. Very disappointing. now I have reached out to customer service for help in removing this app from my sons device but I have to wait because there’s no phone number for helping with this issue. Worst app. Googles app is 10 times better!

This app has ruined my relationship with my parents. I don't believe that the app has glitches or flaws. I honestly wasn't even able to access it. But from ages 11 to 15 I was unable to use my phone for anything other than contacting them. At the time my entire social life was online and I had to resort too all different ways of trying to contact them again. They used this app as an extreme over bearing punishment. Would I recommend this app to other parents? Only if your child is under 10 and should be protected from dangerous websites and making sure they aren't in it for too long. Any older and you are asking for your child to hate and loathe you, along with keeping secrets everywhere in their phone as apps disguised as secrets. Let your child have their privacy and don't download this app unless you want a ruined relationship

It’s good with two glitches. This is overall a good app. It has many different modes and features, and does what it’s supposed to do and more. However, the glitches have made the app annoying to use. One of the glitches is that when my kids turn off the VPN, they can access anything on the web. I’ve had to resort to taking away their electronics because Kidslox wasn’t working well. My kids have also been complaining that when they go into lockdown mode and back out, their folders get deleted, and their apps are spread over the whole phone. I understand that this isn’t really fixable, just stating my opinion. Except for the glitches, this app is the best parental control app I’ve found! Very good job ☺️

Disappointing. It is very disappointing and frustrating to find out only after purchasing the lifetime subscription, that you must have a desktop to install the premium features on your child’s device to be able to use said features past the trial period. We are not the only home that has gone to tablet only. I would have expected that the mobile browser on an iPad Pro would work, but alas, the device has to be physically corded to a desktop to install the purchased features. As a newly widowed mother, I was looking forward to the extra bit of peace having these features would have brought. Now I would love to have the peace of that money back in the bank to find a different solution.

Works “ok”. The app works ok, it does what it claims, there’s only a few issues here and there, but overall I would recommend. The app constantly alerts me that my child is left the house when in reality he is sleeping in the room next to me. Also the app has somehow blocked apps it claimed it cannot block and we cannot figure out how to make the apps comeback, for example the camera. The app claims it cannot be blocked because the camera is a “pre installed app”, but now we can’t even see the camera icon, or use it at all. I’m still considering if I’m gonna keep the app. Good thing is I didn’t sign up for a yearly or lifetime subscription yet. If you wanna try the app I suggest you go on a monthly subscription before you commit.

I recommend this app to other parents all the time. It’s become such a mainstay of the way my kids use their phones. Once you’ve got everything set up you can just leave it to run and it works well. You can set schedules for when you don’t want them to be able to use the phone or you can block it instantly yourself. I’ve been using the web filtering function too and it seems to work well. I hope they’ll add more statistics to the email update they’ve started sending as it’s good but I’d like to know which apps are actually being used, not just which ones are installed.

Giving one star beca I can’t give zero. Why. I have a lot of “why” questions with Kidslox (from the “child” side) 1) why cant the app be deleted from either side without contacting the developers, but they still added a feature that deleted the app at random and contacted the parent saying that I deleted it 2) why will I get random notifications that were not sent by the parent when I ask for more time that says “nice try, 480 minutes removed from your daily limit! 😮” 3) why does the app occasionally slip up and put a child in adult mode for days at a time, and instead of turning of screen time when limits are set turn to “child mode” at bedtime 4) why is the child’s side of the app so bland? No features other that “ask for more time” and “time rewards” 5) why can the app not determine one day from the next and almost perminantly deny acces to any apps other than utilities until the parent manually adds time to a daily limit (a feature that does not always work) 6) why does the parent need to download the app on a computer to get any of those “cool features” as shown above And these were only some of my why questions

This app is garbage.. I would give this app a zero star rating if I could. My parents have been using this app on my brothers my divises for around three years now. This app has completely ruined my ability to use social media with my friends when we are alone or together, I know that sounds stupid but that’s how it is these days. There are also many ways to get around screen time limits, now I will not exclaim any because I know there were or are some nosy parents reading this right now but I have been getting past my screen time limits for around two years now it’s fairy easy. YOUR KIDS ARE’NT DUMB. This app results in your kids not trusting you it is also causes you’re kids to lie more and to become “trouble makers”. If you use this app don’t expect to see results in you’re kids behavior just let you’re be a kid... please

READ THIS IF YOU ARE DOWNLOADING THE APP!. So I have been looking for an app that lets you control screen time and this is actually a really good app. I used it to set up screen time controls. I saw a thing on the app that says “download desktop app to get more features” which I thought meant you’d get a longer free trial for the app. But it actually just gives more features. After doing the whole desktop setup thing I was checking the app and everything looked normal. Then I was in settings and it says, “kidslox inc. is managing this device”! I didn’t want it to be in control of my ipad! I just wanted the extra features! I found a way to disconnect my iPad from it and deleted it from my computer and iPad. It was a great app until it started controlling my iPad!

Great app, but...... Would really like to see you guys upgrade it to where i could control my child's laptop. I tried and realized it doesn't have that feature. My teenage daughter is sort of an insomniac and likes to stay up late, forgets about what time it is and has to be reminded to shut it down and go to bed. I start working very early, therefore i have to be in bed around the same time as she is, so i can't wake up some 30 minutes- hour later and make sure she's sleeping and not on her laptop. Otherwise, your app is great! I really like it and enjoy new features you guys add continuously to make it even better!!! Thank you!

No more battles!. This app is life changing! It took a few days for my 7 year old to get into a routine of the “schedules” I set up with it but now he knows what to expect and that I’ll add extra time for good behavior and take away time for bad behavior. No more taking the iPad from him since I can just shut it down from my phone if he’s misbehaving. He knows his daily time limits & scheduled time away from the iPad (I printed them out). He did want to know my password (yeah right!) and asked me to delete it because he doesn’t like it (big surprise!) I wish I knew about this app sooner. No more arguing about screen time, just make a plan and set limits. Thank you!

Works when servers aren’t clogged. I have had Kidslox for almost a week now. The design and interface are nice, but I have already encountered a “Servers are clogged” message. When I saw this on the app’s FAQ, I was wondering how often this happens. Apparently quite often. The main issue with this is that the servers are “dumb” and only transmit changes in function (eg lock / unlock). If the servers or apps could respond to scheduled changes, then these would occur regardless of server congestion. This does not happen, so it become impossible to unlock an device until the servers become available. My son’s iPad is locked from 10pm-7am, and I was unable to unlock it before he went to school. This means that the servers have been clogged for at least an hour. That’s quite a long time...

Do not risk it!. I wish I heeded others’ warnings of how this app completely wrecked their devices. I put this on my sons Ipad and first it took apps away even when I made everything accessible. Then the App Store totally disappeared making the whole iPad worthless. Then the App Store reappeared but I couldn’t use any of the apps. I finally had to take it to apple and even they were perplexed. But figured out it was this app that messed up everything and I had to wipe it with a factory reset and start all over. And now I’m out the money I paid for 6 months of this crap app. No way in hell would I recommend this. Get the bugs figured out if you’re gonna put this out for people to use!!! It did not matter if the app was in parent mode or child mode. It stayed this way for weeks when eventually lockdown should have reset the next day. Both apple and geek squad said it was a glitch in this app that created this headache.

Gives control over your kids phone. I like that I can set the hours. My kids can play and how many hours they can play as well as censoring inappropriate websites and videos. But there are a few kinks. One is it keeps it goes to lock mode when it shouldn’t be, and I’m not sure why. The other is there is a school app that goes into lock mode that I want to stay unlocked. You can’t Adjust that on the phone app. You have to download the app on your computer and yada yada yada, which is not working. I should be able to adjust that from my phone app.

Not a great app. Though this app has had a good affect on my daughter and it has taught her to limit screen time to save room for other things i am not always able to grant her more time on her phone which has become a hand cap for her since not only does this app take away social media and games but it also takes away her access to school related apps like google class room and infinite campas or apps that help her mental health and other very use full apps. Once my daughter runs out of time it makes the phone useless for her other than being able to call or text and when i am able to give her time through the app kids lox doesn’t always follow through very quickly because it can take an hour or more to go through if it even does at all.

Updated review *. We have been using this app for just over a week now and aside from the one day where it did not track my daughter’s activity, we have not had any more problems. The app has worked perfectly. The time reward feature is my favorite. It makes my daughter eager to tidy up her room just for that extra time. I love that the developers are responsive and work hard to make the app better. Definitely changed my mind about how I feel about this app. Overall, it does everything it should, along with some features that I haven’t seen in other parents control apps.

A little complicated. I thought I was spending a quality life time in my phone, so I wanted to look for any app that may take me off my phone sometime....I downloaded this app and made my account and followed the rules but it kept sending me to a lot of websites and this app is managed from my "Settings" and I kind of didn’t like the fact that my settings information had to be used in this. But thank you for your hard work trying to help people with this — R P.S I rated this a four because unfortunately this didn’t work for me but you worked hard and helped other people.

Don’t waste your time.. This app has caused so many problems. It was not useful for the purposes I wanted it for. There is very little customization for what apps can be blocked, which makes it useless for doing online classes, since you can’t filter out web browsers without blocking everything. Since I installed and then uninstalled this app, I have been having nothing but problems on my device. It deleted all my apps from my dock, and rearranged my apps. It deleted settings and downloads from my kindle app, so now I am missing text books that are required for my classes. Since downloading this app, and the uninstalling it, many other apps on my device have been crashing, and my device was working perfectly before trying to use this app. It also took about an hour and a half to set up. Don’t waste your time or money on this app.

Thanks a Lot. This app is absolutely awful. I got this put on my iPad. The app works and stuff but the problem is that I have to buy a whole new iPad because of you! My mom set it up for my my iPad and I was fine with it since I knew screen time limits were important. But the first week I got it, at 9:00 PM, all of my apps were deleted. They came back, but all of them reset. All of the purchases I made on my own PERSONAL apps, were cleared. So if I had bought a feature on an app, it was gone. I got pretty mad at that and my mom said we would work this out. This went on for a few weeks (All of my apps getting deleted at 9:30 PM) and coming back the next morning. And then, one day, they didn't come back! So all my apps are gone, and they won't re-download even if I put in the passcode. So thanks to you, we have to buy a whole new iPad just to get any apps from the store. So thanks a lot, Kidslox! I don't recommend this app to any parents!

On the right track. I tried a few of these types of apps after we figured out the Disney Circle did not work with our type of router. This app has come very close. I love the interface, very user friendly. It doesn’t have all the features I was looking for. I would love to be able to set individual time limits per apps. My son likes to read on Kindle and Epic, but I don’t want to grant access to all the games just so he can read. I can finagle it a little bit right now, but It would be a nice feature to add in the future. It would be particularly helpful for when his grandparents are babysitting ;-)

Needs work. The app is misleading.. After I read the description of the app I feel like it makes it sound a little bit misleading Leaving the impression that you can adjust ALL the apps on the iOS, But in fact it doesn’t. Your only giving access to post apps that you download off of the AppStore. NOT the apps that are preloaded on the device by Apple programmers And the worst part is your not giving the access to adjust any apps Unless you choose to except the upgrade..Would be nice to specify more in the description before you go through a full download to be dissatisfied and jump through the hoops of removing the app.. Very disappointed.. Surprisingly enough.. the other basic options listed work fairly well if you plan on upgrading the app to get full access

Good but not that good. I tried the free trial and liked it so I decided to purchase the app and pay monthly. I’ve had it for about 4 months but finally gave up and quit my subscription and delete the app. What I liked: the fact that I could have all the apps disappear on my child’s phone as if they don’t exist at certain times (during homework time and bedtime) and still be able to text me (I used a different app for texting restrictions) while I was at work. What I did not like: it does not have the ability to restrict texts as certain times (which is why I used a different app). It also crashed on us twice. Both times where we were forced to reboot her entire phone where she lost everything on her phone (pictures, apps etc) each time.

Works until it does not - lack of support. Have been using it for the last 4 years, it happens that now my kids have an iPhone. Have been trying to resolve an issue of cell data connectivity for the last 7 days. Their support have me going in circle, changing from agent to agent and asking the same exact questions over and over. Given the lack of progress after 7 different email exchanges, I asked for a phone number to call…. Here is the response I received, poor customer service at best. Thanks for getting in touch with our support team. Unfortunately, we do not provide phone support. There seems to be some incompatibility between Kidslox VPN and the Internet connection provided by the carrier. I am afraid there is no way we can diagnose the case on our side as the only way of doing so is to have the device that the issue is occurring on. I case see that you have been using Kidslox for over 4 years. Please specify when the issues started. Did you change your mobile carrier or mobile plan? Any additional information will be helpful for us to identify the issue. Have a nice day! Kind regards, Think twice before paying for a annual membership.

Love this App!. This app is great for setting daily time limits, cutting off device at bed time, rewarding more times for doing chores ect, monitoring what your child is doing, allowing what you want your child too/not too have access too, seeing every website your child googles or clicks on, making it to where your child can’t delete anything or access the play store, and it just added a new feature that takes a screen shot of what your child is doing every 5 mins. It’s also great if you have multiple children, and it doesn’t cost extra to place the app on multiple devices. Worth the money in my opinion!

worst app ever existed. be normal. we children go on our phones because we are bored and want to talk to our friends. if our parents took us to do fun things we wouldn’t be on our phones. don’t get it. if you want your children to be NORMAL...... don’t get it. you shouldn’t want them to be anti social because now a days you parents have to realize that social media is our life and is how we communicate. you gotta understand that. don’t get this trash app it’s the stupidest thing ever. my loves people don’t use imessage anymore it’s called SNAPCHAT. you can’t use it and talk to the hot guys on it. hahahah ahhaha u parents aren’t funny: ur wasting ur time and you could be having fun #YOLO my god. if you have this app your parents hate you. have a nice day and let your kids be normal #Swag #ItsEveryDayBro MIA OUT peace don’t ruin a child’s day.

Hypocritical app that does not respect parents. I could write about the features for my children, but this is not why I am rating the app so poorly. I have taken serious attempts to not allow my device to be constant distraction; and I want to do the same with my childrens devices. One important step to do this is to not allow notifications for non emergency reasons. The Kidslox app will force you to decline notifications EVERY time you open the app. Support claims notifications are “vital” which I think is nonsense. I suspect that if developers cared about keeping my phone from becoming a distraction machine they could figure out a way for the app to function without having notifications on the parents device. If the only way to use Kidslox is for my phone to become a distraction machine then it still deserves 1 star.
