A little overpriced for the number of species. 5 dollars seems like a bit much when many of the categories only have one species. Very limited use.

Good app but. It doesn’t have enough mushrooms on the app there are many more out there other than that it’s a great beginner app

Great app (needs more). The app is a great idea just need more species listed and their ranges. Also if you could group them but Order, Family or Genus that would be much more helpful in ID’ing

Well made. Solid, nice pictures, nothing is edible without expert advice and either I’m the world’s leading discoverer of uncategorized fungi or their database for North America is rather incomplete. How about an upload for identification option?

Good app needs more work. Pretty good list of mushrooms with some important details like spore print, but many species are not yet listed, photos are limited and identification through criteria is not the most accurate. Overall still the best app so far, hope there are many updates to come.

Great app. Easy to use. My daughter had a Mushroom project for school and she loved using the app. The teacher loved it too and downloaded it to his phone.

Great field guide. But they won’t commit on as to wether or not you can eat them. They do tell you which ones you CAN’T eat, so that’s a plus.

Very helpful. A very good reference for someone like me who knows nothing about fungi.

Not too good. This app is lacking a bunch! It doesn’t have lots of very common mushrooms that you would actually find in the woods. (Turkey tail, chicken of the woods, only one oyster) It also does a very poor job of giving a good description of key features needed to identify some mushrooms. Also, why wouldn’t list the spore print color for every mushroom? That’s very important! I’m very disappointed in this app and feel like I just threw $5 in the garbage. If you are serious about identifying mushrooms, this app is not good.

Good app!. So far so good. Ive inly had it a couple days and this app is educating me tremendously. The description includes scientific names for mishrooms, paragraph detailed description, and multiple color photos of each mushroom. This app helped me identify look alike mushrooms. You can also enter in your description of a mushroom and it will populate multiple possible matches based on a percentage scale matching your description. Well worth $5.

Great app. Search features are very specific and useful.

Not particularly useful. It doesn't have nearly enough mushrooms in the database, the search function provides completely unrelated mushrooms, and the edibility rating is useless. Great idea, decent interface. Not worth anywhere near $5.

A Mush Have App. If you are a dedicated 'shroomer this is an excellent app to have at hand. Great photos with a significant amount of info for each entry, plus offline access make this entirely worth having on hand for every foray.

Database needs to be expanded and search feature should be improved.. Stunning pics with a limited database. The search feature is pretty poor. The results produced did not match any of the characteristics I entered. The app is ok as it is now but has the potential to be much better. I hope they keep making improvements.

I like it.. Great pictures. Makes identification so much easier. I’ve recommended it to my friends who enjoy camping, hiking, photography.... etc.

ShROoMs!!!. I live in Washington state and there are so many mushrooms that it's awesome having an app for identifying! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I wish I had the ability to identify mushrooms using my camera and photos much like plant identifier apps. But thanks so much guys for giving us an option to identify and study these wild mushrooms!

Good app. It’s quite useful while out walking around, but I find several types aren’t in the database. I’m sure it will continue to improve over time. I use it all the time!

Great choice. Awesome stuff, love to go out on adventures around Santa Cruz and other areas of the Pacific Northwest. Canada is where I plan to visit soon oh and Germany.

Mobile app convenience. It's nice to have a mobile app that you can go with you in the field. Haven't use this much but I really like the features of what I've seen so far.

Lots of help. This app helped me identify and get rid of toxic fungi growing near my tomatoes. Useful for sating curiosity and developing some amateur ID skills. Would recommend.

Great app needs more content. If only there were more mushrooms and descriptions in this app. Good idea just need to build it out more. Good work. I want something as visual as this just more complete.

Limited but good. I purchased this to identify edible mushrooms in my area. The first mushroom we found (in our backyard) was not in this applications database. It turns out it was Chlorophyllum molybdites, which is the most commonly consumed poison mushroom in North America. You would think this would be on the short list for species to put in the app, right? Anyway, still a good resource.

More than what I expected but.... First off I wanted to like the app and it does indeed have great pictures. I do feel that the descriptions are lacking. I have also not had any luck using the scientific name in the search function which is kind of a bummer. Thirdly, it lists psilocybes as poisonous which is a little dishonest I think. All in all I feel like I wasted $5, had to give it 3 stars because it still has some good features and a decent library it still needs work to be a 5star app

Very helpful and well-done app!. This is by far the best app around to identify and learn about mushrooms. It features an extensive list of mushrooms species with high quality photos, many helpful criteria and nice, detailed descriptions that include edibility, fruiting period, environs data and brief descriptions. Mushrooms are organised by family and the app even lets you compare mushrooms’ features. As an amateur mushroom finder, it’s very easy to search and identify a mushroom on the go: the app allows you to narrow down a mushroom by features, including color, size, head type, ring, and more. It even records my sightings so I am able to determine exact location for future field trips. A GREAT thing about the app, too, is that the mushrooms aren’t only searchable by Latin names, which is definitely a plus if you’re not a veteran mushroom picker. Also love that the app includes a quiz: it makes learning about mushrooms a lot more fun!

Waste of $$ with wrong info. I just bought this ap and REALLY disappointed. The id pics are poor at best. All fungi id pics should include gills, stem and cap. Moreover, their edibility data is wrong on several species. The first one I spotted was Clavariadelphus truncatus, which is described as inedible, but in reality is highly edible with a sweet flavor. I would really like my $$ back- this is a bunk deal.

Basic. Pretty useless. Just buy a book or join r/mycology if you want to get into mushrooming. This app is junk. It has no useful information about territory of mushrooms, it doesn't list common names or useful scientific names. It doesn't tell you any details about stem, ribs or lack there of. It isn't extensive at all. I'm actually mad that I spent money and it was so well reviewed.

Identifying made easy!. We were able to identify a number of different mushrooms close to our home by using this mushroom guide! And learned about other kinds as well. Appreciate ease of use and the many varieties included. Thank you!

Fun and informative!!. This app offers the most complete catalogue of wild mushrooms and fungi I have seen. It has an abundance of photographs for all fungi species, including edible, poisonous mushrooms, truffles, puffballs and brackets. It is my perfect little guide for identifying mushrooms. Also included are descriptive keys word searches like: details of size, shape, colour, habitat, and even tree spotting nearby. Great way of getting further involved in a nature-oriented community! Its a perfect addition!!

Very useful. Is an excellent program and gives a quick way of Better identifying mushrooms. Features work well with no bug so far. I would like to see more photos, and would be happy to pay a couple dollars for a pro version.

My expert review.. I find the app very handy. It's great to have in the field when hunting different species. I only wish it had the common name as well as the scientific name on the quiz part of the app. Getting people to learn different mushrooms is fantastic. I just wish on the quiz part you had an option to change to proper scientific names. Nicknames can be confusing and passing down nicknames instead of proper scientific terminology does nobody good on the quiz section. Everything else is great. Great app. Thanks for all the effort on the app.

Great Start, Still Needs Work. I think the photos are great, but there just aren't enough of the ones that beginning foragers are likely to hunt for or find. Also there are several mistakes in the identification. When I enter "boletes" I should not see gilled or toothed mushrooms in the results.

Saved my life!. I’m a turkey hunter and while hunting I found what looked and smelled like morels but after checking this site I found out they were false morels and not good to eat! Thank you for your site! You saved me from getting really sick or worse!

Good show. This app is a winner it shows all the mushrooms in great detail and has good descriptions of them all great job

A bit pricey for what it is so far but nice app. A really nice app but limited. I hope they continue expanding the app. Good photos I like how you can add notes etc.

Ok but not great. This is missing a ton of common mushrooms and really scarce in what it offers. It also doesn’t tell you where in North America you can find the mushrooms. Taking pictures and doing a google search for free is more useful.

Good Portable Mushroom ID tool.. This is a fun App to have with you on a hike. Not every mushroom is here but enough to identify the most common ones. Learning the families is easy. I was glad to find it and look forward to updates.

It's decent. The app is worth a few dollars as it is put to get her well and it works. My problem with it is coming across many mushrooms outside that I can't find in here. I would like more details as well. Why is something uneatable versus poisonous.

This is awsome!. I love this app it offers such a wide arrange of types of mushrooms to look at. To be exact they have a list of 171 mushrooms all separated by their type and you can look at their edibility as well as the seasons they grow in and you have a mystery mushroom identifier where you answer some questions and it will show you all the mushrooms from the most likely to the least likely.

Nice pictures, terrible for IDing. I bought the app to help me ID mushrooms in the field based on criteria. I enter the criteria in the app and click the check mark and it displays mushrooms that clearly DO NOT MATCH MY CRITERIA. I say the mushroom is yellow and it shows me a blue one as the top match. I say it has decurrent gills and it shows me mushrooms with porous gills. I say it grows in conifer forest and it shows me mushrooms growing in grassland. When you enter MULTIPLE criteria, it should match ALL the criteria, not ANY of it. While the pictures are very nice and the info is handy, what good is it if you have to scroll through dozens of mushrooms to maybe match one in the search results? This app needs a lot more work to be useful. I certainly will NOT upgrade to the Pro version.

Very convenient. Found this app and gladly paid for it! Im very encouraged by the recent updates to the UI and I look forward to an expansion on the species included on these lists. My phone is much easier to carry than a book, and honestly I'm not trying to die from a misidentified mushroom

Nice identification System. I like all the varieties of mushrooms it can identify, no matter where you are. I have only had a few days so I'm not familiar with its intricacies. I feel it should commit more to identifying edible verses non-edible. I know that hens and chickens of the forest, for example, are edible as they were used in a restaurant fresh from the forest in a program I watched. In this app they use a noncommittal, disclaiming statement. Informative app.

.... Really?. The utmost information this app provides on edibility is "edible according to some sources". This is a completely useless statement. You really got to do better than that when it potentially comes down to life and death. Why not at least cite the ressources so everyone can judge their validity? My first ever app review since I thought this really to be upsetting for an otherwise nicely made app.

terrible! no instant photo id like other apps. TERRIBLE! Don’t waste your money! Other apps let u snap a photo of mushrooms you find this one does not! Terrible mushroom ID! When i put in precise mushroom descriptions, its comes up with mushrooms that are NOTHING like i’m describing! If you try to userhis to ID mushrooms, it couldcost you your life!!!

Well arranged and easy to use!. I love to collect mushrooms for a nice meal. I enjoy using apps whenever I'm exploring nature. This app really is a good help distinguishing the different species!

Finally, an expedient mushroom app for Canada!. The app exhibits a user friendly design and even as a mushroom beginner I’m mastering the identification task easily. I think the information provided by the app is really helpful to decide whether to pick up a mushroom or rather leave it where it is. The various images support the correctness of the findings. I will definitely use the record keeping tool for my sightings but don’t expect me to share my favorite collecting sites ;-)

Great resource!. Mushroom ID is a great resource. Love the fact that all the info downloads so you can take it with you into the backcountry without connection issues. Would it be possible to add a function that allowed the user to take or save a photo, submit it and then receive a set of possible species? Thanks for creating this useful app!

Mushroom identification. I enjoyed this app in the beginning but was disappointed when I found several mushrooms with only one picture in one stage of its growth. I can at the very least describe in the detail section of the app the different stages of a mushroom. It's database needs to updated as I found several mushrooms not in the App.

Great, but.... I love this app! It's great for identifying mushrooms while I am in the woods. I love the quiz part of the app, but it sometimes says my answer is wrong when I know it is correct. I have even stopped the quiz and used the app to look up the answer I gave(that it marked as wrong), to see the exact same picture appear as was in the quiz. That is the only problem o have with it as of yet, though.

Sucks. I live in the boreal plain ecozone of Canada and there no relatable material. Besides that, there library is small. Not worth it!

Missing mushrooms of the southwest. So many missing for people that live in the southwest. Lobster mushrooms is one. Please add more identifiable mushrooms.

Useless Identification System. Bad bad bad Identification System. Example: I input data for a gilled mushroom and my top result was 60% bolete. Refund requested 10 minutes after purchasing but I was charged anyways.

Not for field ID of edibles. I purchased this app to aid in field identification of edible vs. non edible mushrooms. What it provides is a very limited number of mushrooms sorted by family which does not help me in any way. The lack of varieties is striking for an app billed as Mushroom ID. It's does not distinguish between edible/non edible. The app provides one very good picture of a mushroom but lacks in specific identifying features. For example, under the category of oyster mushrooms two pictures are provided but the app does not distinguish between varieties. I would imagine This renders the app useless for the majority of users, at least those users sharing my intent. Maybe it's a regional guide, but it is not marketed as such. It certainly is not for the upper Midwest. It may work for some, but my guess is those would be few. I was hoping this app would replace carrying field guides in the woods. As of now, it does not. I will continue to monitor the app and will absolutely amend this review with improvement. Here's hoping.

Some mushrooms. No magic. Not what I expected. Looks like it's running on windows 2000 and it doesn't have the entire family of mushrooms I was looking for

Extremely limited species list. A well constructed app, looks nice, no glitches I've noticed; but needs more species. I travel around North America a lot, and have made many attempts to identify fungi I find to no avail. Doesn't even have Ganoderma lucidem, sad really. Mostly useless.

Pretty good for beginners. This app had a majority of the mushrooms I have found.

Needs more. I expected more from this app for its price. There is not enough info here to truly identify anything. Each mushroom should have a simple list of identifying characteristics at minimum. I feel like I was just robbed, needs major improvements to be useful.

Very limited DONT BUY. This is very limited, only certain species are included and many common species are missing. There is only 1-2 pictures for each, no drawings, not comprehensive life stage pictures. I can't believe I wasted 5$ on this crap DONT BUY

Cool but.... Every edible species says "edible according to some sources, seek expert advice...". Isn't that what I spent $5 for the app for? Pretty annoying to see this on even well known edibles such as morels and chanterelles.

Very few species. There are only 175 species in the app. It failed to identify any of the species from a recent trip to the Smoky Mountains.

Great for beginners!. Really good for beginners who are new to mycology; really helps in learning names and recognizing species.

Mushroom. Very good app

Lame - don't bother. The app is lame. I used it to id a mushroom I'd picked. After configuring 10 characteristics of my sample mushroom, the app returned a whole slew of "possibilities" of mushrooms that had all kinds of characteristics that my sample did NOT have. My sample was brown, but the app returned mushrooms of all sorts of colors --including blue shrooms!! My sample had free gills, but the app returned mushrooms with free gills, attached gills, decurrent gills, even porous gills. My sample had no ring around the stem, but the number one possibility returned by the app had a ring. It's as if the app returned a completely randomly selected set of mushroom ignoring the characteristics that you type in the id the mushroom. I'd like my $4.99 back please.

Crap App. Doesn’t even have Shitake or Lions Mane. It’s so unfortunate that people have to spend money on this to realize they got ripped off.

Skip this useless app. You'll get more info from a local pocket guide. I found no relevant info for my area. Also this purchase doesn't qualify for a refund (ripoffs) so save your money.

Mushroom id North America. We have a lot of mushrooms that grow in our back yard I got the app to try to identify them, I'm pleased that they all were in the app it did what I wanted and more by giving us an in depth explanation of each mushroom. I know I won't be eating any of them at all.

Good pics, but..... Great and vivid pictures, but I'd like to see many more varieties like "Hen of the wood" or "chicken" mushrooms. Other than that, it's pretty good.

Perfect app for the beginner. The app is designed for the beginner and seemed to have included the most common species which is great. There are apps with a lot more species including all the rare ones which you will usally will never find anyway. A really nicely done app with loads of reliable images and helpful descriptions to distinguish the different species.

Missing a lot.... There’s a lot I don’t like... 1. Doesn’t link to Wikipedia 2. Doesn’t have all the names... like Ringless Honey Mushrooms 3. Lacks filers... I wasn’t to see just the edible ones.. or just ones in FL etc... 4. Search function is broken and lists Mushrooms that are out of season in search criteria and the wrong color. 5. Lacks camera ID with simple image and color recognition software This could be an amazing app - very disappointing

Nice app. Good information

Mushroom ID. This app is on its way to being the best one I've used and I have more than a couple. The pictures are incredible and being able to drop pins is great. The only thing holding back from being, in my opinion, the best is the quantity of species. Keep them coming. I have also noticed some of the editable mushrooms listed as toxic or not editable.

Beautiful images - need more. The mushrooms that are included are described superficially but adequately. The images are stunning. Would appreciate more species included but it probably takes time to get such good photos!! A more detailed description would also improve the app immensely. I think it is a useful app . Sue

Horrible, barely scratches the surface of wild mushrooms. This app hardly has any of the mushrooms you'll find out hunting. Extremely disappointing and a huge waste of money.
