Good introduction to logic. I have never been a math or logic person, so the problems in this app were more challenging to me than they were for most. I wish something like this, with problems and explanations, all for free—were accessible when I was younger. I wouldn’t have known where to start looking! If I started at a young age, my math skills would be better, and I may have actually done math for fun. This the kind of stuff that they ask on IQ tests, not the silly memory or perceptual reasoning stuff they have on online IQ tests. Perceptual reasoning and working memory do not require preconceived knowledge or study like verbal reasoning does (verbal reasoning includes vocabulary and mathematics). However, all three measures can be improved with practice. You just have to know where to find the challenges.

Excellent in all ways: design, content, user experience. I've been able to learn beyond fundamental mathematics for the first time in my life, this is unprecedented for me when it comes to Algebra especially. As someone with a learning disability and ADHD, I highly recommend it for the way the lessons are structured -- it doesn't present a ton of things to read, you actually learn things as you go as opposed to the short term recall ("cramming") where it's temporary memorization to pass an exam only to forget it later. it's not bloated with content and it takes you through each lesson in simple steps, intuitive navigation and the visualization / graphics have helped me tremendously. A seven day trial in itself is worth checking out. Pricing: There is a 7 day trial, and the annual price (1 year) may seem steep, but the cost broken down by month isn't. Honestly I wasn't sure about it, paying for a year up front isn't something I'll do normally, but I decided after a day of using it that it's more than worth the investment.

Fallacies Discovered in First Two Minutes. App claimed the International Space Station (ISS) is ‘weightless.’ This is a slightly erroneous term but usually a forgivable mistake, if uttered by a layperson. However, as this is an educational app, I believe it should be held to higher standards and user proper rhetoric. Honestly, I am greatly disappointed because I was excited to learn some new trivia! It is a great injustice that this app is propagating slightly skewed information. I would find it a better exercise to fully explain the idea rather than hastily throw out a common misnomer, which even further normalizes this incorrect sentiment. Knowing that people who are not already well-verses in physics would probably not recognize this mistake makes it an even more egregious error! I am fed up with the educational system opting out of truly explaining difficult subjects. There is this trend of substituting them with slightly incorrect, water-downed, and much easier to explain versions of the true problem statement. The responsibility should lie within the institution to face this challenges comprehensively, so that we can build a model for the general public that cohesively explains such difficult subject matter.

Rebooting mathematics. So far, I enjoy the introduction to reasoning skills. I haven’t used the app very long, but I’ve experienced that the app is engaging from the moment you start using it. There are quite a few subjects to select from, and I’ve chosen to start from the beginning for a fresh outlook on mathematics. I expected daunting, simple problems to work through, and was surprised to find that while simple elements are introduced they are not boring . I’m grateful for the opportunity to enrich my perspective on the fundamentals as I’m a higher level math student feeling like I’ve reached a ceiling because my mathematical background is one of “here are the steps, now solve the problem”. I hope to regain a love for mathematics, and so far, it seems like I’m already there.

Quarantine learning. Last year I was a part of the graduating class of 2020 where I received my B.S.c in mathematics. As you might imagine, Instead of using my skills in the workplace (or at graduate school) I have been stuck in quarantine. Brilliant has helped me review key concepts I will need for whatever comes next by providing engaging problems, a user friendly platform, and a myriad of topics to choose from. As someone with a mathematics background, I particularly enjoy the logical approach to not only the math course but also the physics and computer science courses they offer. Overall it has been a great experience (other than the cost) and I recommend it to those trying to expand their minds while they are trapped inside.

Absolutely Brilliant!. This app is allowing me to expand my brains capacity to understand natures fundamental laws from special relativity, to solving complex courses such as problem solving/ Logic. Doing very good when it comes to logic. I’m improving in mathematics. However, I’m a little lost with special relativity. It’s most likely because my curiosity got the best of me and compelled me to skip all the other essential courses to understanding it and the meaning behind certain symbols (variables). I would highly recommend using an app called Elevate in conjunction with Brilliant. They go very well together hand-in-hand, at least from my experience. I use Elevate as a pre-workout to stretch and warm up my brain before using Brilliant, as it is more advanced than Elevate. Just a suggestion. I hope this review helps!

Real problems to solve, but pricey. I love this app as it has real problems to solve using logic or math or other mental skills. I love that it also offers an explanation and actually teaches how to get the correct answers. Other brain teaser apps that I’ve tried have answers that are loosely tied to the problem and either have multiple correct answers or leave you guessing for the right solution- this app leads you to one possible solution given the data provided in the problem. So you either get it right by understanding how to solve it, or you get it wrong and can try again or seek out the explanation. I am only on the free trial right now. I just wish it wasn’t so expensive.

Amazing app, but kinda expensive. The subscription is pretty expensive. Compared to other subscriptions (streaming services, programs, etc.), it is a lot more expensive. It’s 2.5% more expensive than my parent’s current streaming service subscription. I see that there is a student discount through UNiDAYS. While 35% off is great, why not make it free to students? UNiDAYS verifies student status, guaranteeing this won’t be abused. This app is great, especially for students, but I don’t see myself spending the discounted price of $16 a month on this subscription (especially while in college). Let’s better empower students by providing verified university students with free access. Just my suggestion/request. Love this app regardless, and I hope to support y’all in the future!

Great learning platform, limited variety of learning methods. I personally am more fond of listening to lectures than reading a lesson on my own, and because of this I sometimes can find myself mindlessly grazing over a lesson without truly learning it (yeah yeah, I’m in a minority I get it)... But unfortunately, for the week or so I’ve had the app I haven’t found a lesson which has an auditory option or something that fashion. I fully understand how insignificant this problem may seem, but with a $100 annual payment I would expect my money to be going to a learning platform which can cater to my specific learning style, perhaps with a 10 minute in-depth explanation on a topic or even a whole lesson if I my attention is divided (for example if I wanted to listen to a lesson on my way to work). Other than this minor problem I’ve experienced with the app, I have enjoyed the engaging lessons and in-depth explanations. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone, especially if the visual examples and written lessons are the way you personally prefer to learn. Although for those of us who prefer an auditory method of learning it can be difficult to fully take in the information in an easily digestible way. 4/5, needs more lessons in my opinion (more are coming so it’s not a terrible problem) and a way to keep learners of all styles engaged in every lesson. Great app :)

Continuing Education For The Serious. If you give serious commitment to Brilliant then you will come away with a working knowledge of high level mathematics and the discipline to work problems through to the end. It’s as hard as it needs to be to cover the challenging subject matter—but no harder. It exposed that I had a weak foundation in math and gave me the tools to fix it. Clearly, mathematics pedagogy has improved since I was in school. I feel like the advances in math instruction are being infused into this app. The illustrations and the progress tracking are motivating to the soul and pleasing to the eye. It’s worth the money if you are serious or thinking about getting serious about math/science.

Makes Me Like Math Again. I’m taking the Fundamentals of Mathematical Reasoning course which trains you to think like a mathematician in a way that feels like a game. Courses uses a slide(s) and question format, showing you problems with animations and stories and then asking you to solve them, with hints available to help you answer yourself. Oftentimes questions on your thinking follow questions about solutions, so you understand other processes you might have not considered. Lessons can be fast, ranging from 10-30 minutes, so I can play during lunch breaks or waiting periods. In the later lessons, I notice myself thinking more strategically about the best ways to solve problems and thinking about math in visual representations when possible instead of abstract numbers. Since my math education was rote, Brilliant is refreshing and fun. Math feels natural, accessible, and engaging to me now, so I find the Premium subscription worth the cost. Sometimes the slide graphics display partially or not at all, and Brilliant Support is slow to respond, but this happens rarely and doesn’t much affect my everyday experience.

I was refunded. Thank you, Brilliant support!. During my free trial, I decided Brilliant was not for me. Unfortunately, I missed canceling my trial by an hour and was charged a whopping $119 for a year membership. I left a review explaining why I was upset, the support team responded, we emailed each other, and they have decided to issue a refund. I initially gave a 1 star review because of having such a large surprise amount charged to my account (a surprise because I thought I would be charged for a single month, not a full year at the end of the trial if I were to not cancel in time). Because the support team responded quickly and professionally, I am happy to raise my review to 4 stars, because I do think the world could use more math and science! I however find the payment/free-trial method a bit controversial. So until they decide to change their model, I can’t feel comfortable leaving any higher of a review. My recommendation to Brilliant is to give people a 7 day trial without charging the payment automatically upon completion. Send out a reminder message that the trial is ending. Maybe consider giving a discounted price if they purchase during a free trial. Let the user feel in control of their decision! Thank you for understanding, and giving me a refund. I do appreciate that very much and wish you all well! Best!

My favorite app. Brilliant is the best app ever created. The knowledge within in the app is enough to educate any person sufficiently without any need for external references. I would wager that Brilliant has been more effective teaching me math, science, and their combined history than any school or teacher I ever interacted with. I would have given ANYTHING to have this knowledge growing up and I’m thankful I have it now. Apart from how much I personally love the app, I can tell the developers also care and they put so much work into making this app a wonderful experience. Shoutout to PBS Spacetime and Matt O’Dowd for introducing me to Brilliant, the way Matt talks about physics really inspired me and brought me here to continue my education.

Great quizzes, lacks gamification. I found this app through instagram marketing (as i’m sure many of you did as well). It ended up living up to most of the hype. The topics are broad and relevant. The quizzes are quick and simple, yet effective and brain-teasing. For anyone who likes learning, this is a great app, and for those who love a visual element to their learning, look nowhere else. ’But sir, you only gave it four stars,’ you say? (Brilliant developers, I hope you are reading these) It could be significantly better if there were scoring, points accumulation, a social element, rewards, or other features to make it more fun and engaging. Especially at this price point. That said, I’m enjoying the platform and look forward to future versions.

Dear Brilliant team, please update the iPad UI. I don’t know about using brilliant on my phone or laptop but interacting with the brilliant app is quite uncomfortable when using split screen. Whenever I’m browsing the course library on landscape mode or portrait mode and select a course to preview, the course overview and course sections vertically split the available screen real estate. It produces a very unflattering squished layout in which reading the course overview or seeing the various sections of each “chapter” is an uncomfortable experience. I don’t need to continue seeing course overview after I’ve read it once. I believe the course overview and course chapters shouldn’t be split and instead should be static at the top of the page in order to use the whole page real estate to comfortable horizontally scroll throughout the chapter sections (Think of the Netflix app for example, the main show they’re promoting at the top and different shows are scrollable horizontally, it would be quite annoying if we had to forcibly see the show they’re promoting everywhere as we continue scrolling down/ up while browsing). Other than that brilliant is amazing, I would just like it to be more split screen friendly on mobile devices.

This is REALLY helping me!. I’m going to college and taking academic courses for the first time in several years. I failed the first day assessment for Elementary Statistics, so I dropped it. Since then, I’ve been trying to brush up on my math in various ways. However, most of the “traditional” ways have either not worked, brought up negative associations for me, or both. This app TEACHES math from the ground up, along with many neat tips and tricks, in a way that’s novel and fun for me, but not insulting to my intelligence or dignity. Plus, this app’s approach to teaching math visually and conceptually is getting through to me in ways that several math teachers have failed to do. I only have the FREE version, too! Don’t let the subscription cost scare you! You CAN download, use, and benefit from Brilliant without paying a dime!

Bravo to brilliant’s self-serving UX and bad customer support. Update: I received the refund. Thanks! I wish the process would be much easier. Modifying the rating from one to three. Original: I signed up for a monthly subscription since there is only a few courses I’m interested in. After I finished the course, I set a schedule to cancel the subscription before it renewed. I thought I canceled it because it asked me why I canceled and I selected my reason. I thought that’s it. To my surprise, they charged again. I went in and realized that the subscription is not cancelled because they hide the cancellation button at the very bottom of the page after you selected the reason so I didn’t successfully cancel it Lol. Well, I get it — you want to retain your user. But if a user does not want to use your product anymore, what’s the point of making the cancelation process so difficult. It felt like I was tricked. And customer support refused to refund due to internal policy even though I wasn’t using it at all - check your statistics please. So for those of you who only find a few courses interesting, make sure when you cancel, scroll to the bottom of every single page. Otherwise, they will say it’s users fault.

Helpful but seriously limited. For most of my incorrect answers I try to learn and understand what I did wrong. For some parts the explanations are helpful but wording is so skewed that’s it’s a problem to understand without taking time longer than the initial question. Then I found a lot of questions are open ended or hides important information that makes solving the question a logical guessing game. Example pertaining to a probability question “guess how much money would be made on average per game” the question however does not tell you how many games will be played leading the player to come with an random guess which will lead them to a wrong answer. If the app is built for the purpose of learning or a wide range of learning levels the questions and explanations should reflect that. Instead of assuming everyone intelligence level will pick on the smallest details and understand what they already didn’t understand to begin with.

Absolutely astonishing app.. I found that I wasn’t just bad at math, I was just bad at calculating. And Brilliant helped tremendously with that. And of course, better calculations mean more right answers, more right answers = higher grades, they also essentially made my self of steam get higher because after practicing, I feel accomplished. Not to mention the question structure is often unique, therefore our brain remembering the question — and how to do it — because the brain was noticed and challenged something different that a flat out question with no visuals or no exquisite wording. All of those reasons support the fact that it is worth the download.

Good, but not upfront. I really enjoyed the mini quizzes, though I didn’t understand some of the material I still gained a lot of information in some of the explanations. My *only* complaints are: try not to be so vague on some founding principles if at the beginning of the course if it says “Not to worry! You’ll learn about it in chapter so and so...’’ but then don’t explain the fundamentals if the course is for absolutely beginners? 🙄🙄🙄 Secondly, let us know we have to pay for the course before hand! Please let that be included at least in the introductory section, gave an option to buy the full package. Really took me by surprise, I’m sure others as well. Otherwise I really enjoy the app. I’m going to buy it only because I have no doubt it would greatly improve my understanding and comprehension of material. Thank you all for developing and writing the content of this app.

54 years old & having fun improving my brain functions. I decided to conquer my fears of inadequacy and stay open to this app, and even in one week I can see how it’s paying off. About six months ago, I tried it but was quickly intimidated and even uninstalled the app. This time, however, I’m staying open and not judging myself when I get incorrect answers. (Although once I did judged the app developers for an “incorrect” answer of mine, but while writing a feedback to them for why their answer and explanation to their answer were incorrect, I realized why their answer was right and what I had missed in my own deductive training to have tracked the incorrect conclusion. LOL.) I do get a nice little dopamine hit though when I see that “Correct!” after hitting “submit.” The program presents in a way that is really encouraging to just get in there and work my mind in new ways. I noticed I feel better and more organized in my thinking when I start my day with about 20+ minutes of these kinds of brain exercises in the morning. So I have my coffee and breakfast while working through some problems in a relaxed way. I’m looking forward to trying other courses/programs after I finish the Logic one.

Love This App, But Proce is Untenable. This app has logic problems, courses on computer science, AI, etc. that are all broken down into simple, intuitive, bite sized lessons and quizzes. I enjoy continuing to learn, especially in small, manageable ways, and the content here is right up my alley. In short, I think I am THE target audience for this app. The problem is that I will never, EVER pay $150 for an app in one lump sum, especially not as an annual auto-renewing subscription. I could lose interest, or the app could stop being updated and supported because they couldn’t find enough people to pay $150 for it. I would gladly pay $12/mo. for this app, which comes to $144 annually, but a $150 lump sum for an app? It’s just not going to happen. Developers, please add some ads or a monthly subscription option or some other payment mechanism than a $150 lump sum. I truly will miss this app after the free trial ends.

Rip-off. First off, this app doesn’t actually teach you, it’s a series of gotcha questions that may be beneficial if you already have knowledge of the subjects and just want a review, but there are no lessons, this is a prime example of a minimum viable product with an expensive subscription. Now, after barely using the app due to dissatisfaction with the “learning” possibilities, I’m slapped with $100 charge for another year right as the holidays are coming up, and I don’t have an extra $100 lying around to spend on myself. There was no warning that my subscription renewal was coming, or how much it was going to be. (I bought the first year on a sale for $60 last year) As far as I know, there is no way of getting that back. When I cancelled the subscription in the app, I had to endure 5 huge screens of scrolling where the company either pathetically begged me to stay, or threatened me with a higher price if I ever dared come back. They must not get many people coming back if they treat them with this vindictive manner on the way out the door. After that, I’m not motivated to go to their customer support and try to get my money back, because the one thing they have taught me is that I won’t get anywhere with that.

Math courses are excellent for visual learners, but logic needs work. I have a lifelong learning disability with math, but I've always wanted to understand it. I'm a visual learner, and I can't stand the pretentious lingo taught in school. Overall, Brilliant is perfect for my learning style. It does a great job helping me visualize mathematical concepts and make them more relatable in daily life. That said, the logic course needs work. It presupposes that you already have an intuitive understanding, which I don't, due to my learning disability. I think in pictures, not logically, and some of the answers to the questions are downright baffling. In some questions, they say they have provided all the information needed to make a logical conclusion, when in fact we have no proof whatsoever and can only speculate. They expect a correct answer to an impossible question. I can't recommend this course to anyone unfamiliar with logical reasoning, because you're on your own with no help, unlike the math courses. The math courses are much better overall. Unlike Khan Academy, they don't simply tell you you're wrong with no explanation. They point out exactly where you erred, or what you should notice, so you truly understand what you're learning. That doesn't make it easy, but it's very much worthwhile. I hope the developers will take this approach with the logic courses in the future.

Great explanations. I downloaded this app mainly out of curiosity. I’m already well versed in quantum mechanics and I was simply curious to see how well they expressed the subject’s nature and quirks. They explained many subjects with astonishing perspective and accuracy. I can only imagine how well they explain the other courses such as calculus and logic. If you lack a sufficiently competent professor, this app will help you out in a pinch. Even if you’re already familiar on things like mathematics and physics, there is always something new to learn on this app. The memberships are set at a great price and the visuals pop and express perfectly the matter at hand. I just wish there was an offline version for whenever I’m on a plane or such. Cheers!

Totally different way of learning—fun, intuitive, challenging but not intimidating. I’ve only been using Brilliant a week, but it’s so much more interesting and engaging and fun than similar learning apps. The experience is like a combination of doing mini- courses with puzzle and game apps. I *never* learned math this way—it would have changed the whole experience for me! (I’m almost sixty years old and doing this mostly for fun, though I’m hoping it might help me with some novice level coding I’m also learning.) The interface is also very attractive and clean. My only suggestion: offer two levels of explanation. There were a few questions where the explanation was so brief, it was kind of puzzle itself. I understand you want to keep things brief—that’s good. That’s why I suggest two levels of explanation: first button says “Show explanation.” But then another button appears at the bottom that says, maybe, “ Need more detailed explanation?” for us beginners. But this is a minor critique. I’m really enjoying it. Highly recommend!

Endlessly Grateful. This app is the perfect way for anyone who truly loves to learn. Especially for those who enjoy teaching themselves. For those who may think you won’t have time, I promise you do. Never forget the universe has existed for a literal unimaginable amount of time. You only have about one Planck equivalent to witness and understand this universe. We should all try and understand as much of it as we can. P.S. If you are still doubting after reading this, just know I’ve literally started from the simplest math and sciences and after about 12 days and 80 lessons. It’s like a good book you won’t be able to put down.

Fun App, not perfect, too expensive.. First of all I love the idea. I studied Mechanical Engineering but haven’t worked in the field for 5+ years, so I just wanted to see if I still have the understanding for all the principles and check out new fields. I feel like some of the explanations should have been read over by somebody else who hasn’t written it. Most of the time I don’t have issues understanding the principle or I even know it beforehand but reading the text is sometimes more confusing than clarifying. Still, I’m enjoying the app. Lastly I have to say that $150 per year seems really excessive for an app like this. It is not going into enough detail to prepare people for exams or anything, so all it’s for is joy/ interest in the theories. I can get that from Wikipedia or similar websites. Granted, not as organized but for free. I will keep browsing topics this year but I will not buy another year of subscription. At least not for this prize.

Neglected and stale. 1) There hasn’t been any meaningful attempt at adding new content in years. Moreover, many “courses” share the exact same material. Brilliant has a problem with the amount of content they offer. 2) They’ve done away with the open discussion solution forum; all you get is the (often stupid) Brilliant staff solution. 3) The daily challenges, besides being broken (yet another bug to fix), cycle through the same boring repetitions of like ten different types of questions. Again, the app needs new content. 4) Much of the content is really poorly presented. Technical terms are introduced without ever defining them, questions are convoluted, etc. Calling them “courses” adds artificial legitimacy to what are actually just a bunch of multiple choice questions/problems accompanied by tacky, ClipArt-esque illustrations. Fix this crap. And stop charging people who’ve already paid until you get actual new content (not just ‘new courses’ comprised of a mish-mash of content borrowed from old courses).

Rushed to market. Many of the explanations for their problems are incomplete, and are clearly rushed through (and checked over) by people who already have a thorough understanding of the subject. This leaves the hopeful learner often stuck- wondering how to get from a->b. It’s discouraging, because the app is a great idea overall and it does eventually work. With the help of intense googling the explanations make sense in the end. However, because of this- it’s just not a finished product yet. It shouldn’t be on the market, at least for paying customers, when so much must be supplemented elsewhere due to a lack of due diligence on the part of the devs. The devs should focus more on testing their product to make sure it’s able to teach people and less on advertising all over the universe. Good products sell themselves. This is not yet a good product and they clearly lean into over advertising to compensate.

Great engaging content, some ui annoyances. Like the content. But sometimes it doesn’t feel like it’s made for an iPhone and the buttons for checking or submitting answers and/or the question are spaced weird and outside of what I can see so I’m missing context or can’t access the button smoothly. Another placement thing I don’t like and find annoying is the repeat lesson buttons and I hit those by accident and am sent back to the start. Then it looks like I never did the lesson even if I completed it. None of these are deal breakers. I mean I’m paying for the app after all. But it’s a bit annoying at times and seem like small changes that could be remedied more easily than full on content development. I have premium and after each block of lessons in probably for data analysis it keeps asking me if I want to try premium for free. Ok next request? Is space to write stuff down and figure out problems in the app. They have gridded logic problems and I guess they want us to draw this out on paper on our own? I realize this sounds nit picky but they go hard for visualizing things (and they sometimes don’t always add a lot of value) but then don’t have what seems like functional things like a place to solve the problems or draw things out on our own in app.

Amazing Educational Tool. I’ve been an award winning physics and engineering educator for over a decade. I’ve taught all grade levels from undergraduate to kindergarten, and I’m deeply invested in finding and promoting effective methods for teaching and learning science. I must tell you: I’m absolutely blown away by this app’s whole system and content. I got this app recently because I sustained a TBI from a bicycling accident and wanted to test/flex my intellectual skills and make sure I still retained my academic knowledge. While I’m happy to report that I’m doing fine, I was so thrilled to discover this app. In practically every lesson, I was constantly thinking “Wow! This is such a clever and effective way to present this information and scaffold one’s understanding of it.” I am taking a ton of inspiration from this for new ways I’d like to teach my students. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to learn, review, or level up their understanding of a variety of topics in STEM. Whether you’re just wanting some intellectual stimulation or you’re a current math or science student looking for tutorials that supplement your coursework, you will love Brilliant.

Great approach to make learning fun and develop a passion for interesting subjects. I’m using Brilliant to learn computer science. I’ve always had an interest in computer science, but always wrote it off as being too advanced and too technical for me. Brilliant has made learning computer science fun and approachable. The interactive material makes the learner much more engaged, which I believe is crucial for learning and critical thinking. It makes an overwhelming topic like computer science easy to understand and digest, which in turn leaves the learner wanting to do more. If you lack confidence in your learning ability, or are tackling a difficult subject, I highly recommend Brilliant.

I enjoy it enough to conquer my fears of math (mental abuse towards humans). I have been using it for the past 5 or so months I believe. I saw people advertise for it for awhile, some who were even an nasa engineer (mark rober shout out to him). I love the characters and the design for this app, but I feel like there could be a few changes. Personally, I like having notifications because it helps me stay on track a lot. This app does have notifications but they are addressing my league. This helps because I can stay on track with it and continue getting my streak. But that’s the thing, they don’t remind you of your streak but just your league. This also doesn’t help because you have to pay for the app and sometimes I forget and sometimes it feels like I’m wasting money. Solution for this? Either make a widget or do what Duolingo does to remind you of your streak. All regards though this app is very well devolved and thought out, just more notifications please!

College Quality Courses. This app is amazing. I downloaded it originally when I was looking for resources to brush up on physics. Since then, I decided to enroll in a math class at my local community college—Brilliant made learning so easy that my confidence has skyrocketed and I started daydreaming about earning a STEM degree. Of course, I used Brilliant to study for my math placement test, and after only working through half of the algebra and trig courses I tested in to Pre-Calc! I haven’t taken a math class since high school, ten years ago! I’m still using Brilliant on the topics I find difficult, the easy step by step process is so good at breaking down complex problems and helping you understand. I’m so excited to keep using this app for a variety of subjects. Thank you so much to the team that built this app and creates its content! This is modern digital learning at its best!

Math and physical and computer science. That should be the real tag line, "Math and physical and computer science only" because apparently the developer either knew nothing about biological and chemical science or they didn't have any friends to help them with this part of the app. There is no mention of chemistry, organic chemistry (which I argue is harder than many of the courses in there now), molecular biology, or any of the myriad of advanced or beginner subject that may fall under those broad headings. I downloaded the app hoping to use it for some study help worth some masters courses in molecular biology but, nope...computational biology is as close as it gets and that is really just a programmer course for people that can speak Python or some other language. If they can get some of these subjects added I will definitely be back, I like the look and feel of the app. So, good luck and let's hop to boys, let's get those subjects added and the future biochemist learning!!

Amazing App! One Request. Hello. I just downloaded your app and did part of one of the courses. I love this idea! I’ve always had a hard time understanding things like math and science, but I believe I’ll start understanding thing a lot more! I heard about this service from Mark Rober, a YouTuber that you sponsored in his latest video and I immediately downloaded this to try it. I have only one request to make, could you please bring Dark Mode to the app? I’m visually impaired and having Dark Mode would help me not strain as hard to read the text in your app. I read best with white text on black and I have an extremely hard time reading black text on white. Thank you for making this incredible app! I can’t wait to learn and understand more in the coming days, weeks, and months!

been using 4 days, liking it so far. Definitely different & far more educational then any of “Exercise your brain” apps! I know the running joke is “I’m so glad I learned the quadratic formula in high school instead of how to do my taxes,” but a lot of people disregard the fact that practicing math is essential in developing your mind & maintaining plasticity. You may not apply algebraic formulas to your every day life, but the use of logic that is required to solve complex math problems is not something we practice as humans in our day to day. I promise that practicing algebra, calculus, geometry, etc. has much more benefit to your mind than simply gaining the ability to find the area of a circle. There’s even studies that show regular studying of of mathematics can lesser instances & severity of Dementia & Alzheimer's, even when highly inheritable. Again, I’m only 4 days in, but I’d currently be happy to pay the price for the subscription. Removed a star because this app is clearly still in development, and there’s a lot of confusing questions. I took math all the way up to AP Calculus BC in high school, which I’m only 7 years removed from, and I still have to sit and read some of the questions out loud, and several times over, to understand what’s being asked of me.

10/10 app! 2/10 marketing/business strategy. Your program is phenomenal; I mean it. Your approach to business seems a tad counterproductive though. Perhaps add a WAY cheaper alternative to your subscription for middle, high school, and college students seeing as they require it the most. Adults can afford the extra buck and aggregate an offer/compensate by giving unique job/internship/opportunities/coupons. Consider partnering with Khan Academy or take notes from how they were able to “rise to academic stardom.” Understand that this’d be an investment as your acquiring a large net of customers in say five-ish years then when you have a solid customer base jack the prices while adding resource(s) and opportunities to recompénsate. You have the framework for something beautiful. Take it by the horns and see where it goes! If your at all interested in any of the aforementioned ideas implement them and consider hiring me as an intern ( I need the job exp). Much love, luck and good vibes!! - ET

better than any other math learning app i’ve tried. the other apps i’ve tried out only would have been helpful if i payed for their full premium version. This app has lots of different courses and subjects to explore and i did not have to pay any money to be able to access them. The only downside is that if you are not particularly good at critical thinking or thinking like a mathematician, some of these course are really hard to follow. I’m not very good at math but i want to be, so i go through the courses very slowly. I’m still very impressed at how much i can learn on here for free. I’m giving it 5 stars because i want other people to be able to easily access free education.

Exactly what I needed. I’ve always enjoyed math and science and I wanted to get ahead of my school courses and learn as much as possible. Brilliant allows me to learn at a very fast pace. I love the focus on intuition rather than the basic school approach of memorization and regurgitation. Even if I’m not understanding every little detail - because there’s some confusing notation that they don’t do an amazing job explaining - I know I’m getting value from the courses because my overall understanding is improving. Admittedly, this app isn’t great for everybody; I feel like it was specifically designed for fast, intuition-focused learners like myself which is super cool but beware before you buy it. I didn’t buy premium, I’m basically speed running all the best courses on the free trial so I’m glad I get my chance to learn without paying. Thanks guys, this has become my new favorite mobile “game.”

Great for learning small issues though…. I’ve used this to learn pre-calc through calc and that intuition it gives you is amazing. I can’t say I love the style but I’ve gotten used to how the problems are worded. For example, some of their equations used very technical formulas and coming from school to this is a whole different style. Give it a few days though and you can figure it out pretty easy along with some YT videos to help you. One problem I run into a lot is the screen seems to freeze I used to just close the app and it’d work but now I’ve been stuck after force resetting my phone and deleting the app. If this issue gets fixed I’d say easy 5 but the fact I’m stuck without any help from their website or the app making it disfunctional is a bit annoying. Hope to see this fixed and glad to have a learning tool at a somewhat reasonable price (premium)

Great instruction. I got this app because I’m mathematically challenged. As an adult that struggles with math I have to say I love the way this app provides instruction. Each set of quizzes starts with an explanation of the material and even if you answer incorrectly there are detailed explanations of how you can figure out the correct answer. I’ve had to be patient with myself but I’m making progress. My favorite class so far has been the one on logic puzzles, something I have struggled with in the past and Brilliant provides such excellent instruction that sometimes I’m very surprised at how well I’m doing answering the questions. It’s by no means easy but it’s designed to make it easy to learn. It’s definitely worth it.

Progress disappears over time. I have been progressing several courses on a regular basis, and then had to skip for some time ( a couple of weeks or so). When I came back, even though the top view showed the progress bars correctly, when I would click into the course all the sub courses were pristine, and I would need to figure out where exactly I stopped last time. That happened a couple of times already and the most frustrating thing is that even though I have a paid subscription, I submitted a bunch of bug requests regarding this problem and never heard back from them. I do enjoy the app, but the customer service is terrible and some small bugs make the experience bad, which does deter me from using the app and making me questioning whether I even want to continue using ( and paying for) it.

Amazing learning tool. This tool is amazing for self-taught learners and students that want to enhance their critical thinking or mathematical ability, and supplement their academic course work. It’s amazing a resource like this available. The learning content is great people that designed the course work really put thought into every problem. Most problems are fun challenging and interesting. There should be more apps like this. ^^^ This is automatically generated response of developers praising themselves and I agree it is a very well made and interesting app for anyone looking to exercise their mind and delve into interesting puzzles and problems and I agree with all the praise given by the developers to themselves in the autogenerated review but I would like for them leave some of the praising up to the user of the app. Amazing work this app is a great supplement to learning and the designers of the app are amazing.

Love this. I’ve self educated since 7th grade, I would have died to have had this 20 yrs ago. I had to work full time since I was 14 and I’m a single dad now, this is wonderful! I’ve had to countlessly go back, time and time again: Example: Studying Physics, I can see the theory in my mind, but had to figure out what kind of mathematical approach to quantify things. I self taught trig, pre-cal and cal, but didn’t know about pure mathematics. It saves so much time to have a path to build on. I’m completely stoked, and when my daughter goes to bed, the two hrs I get are highly prized times for me. So having a lesson planned out for me dames me incredible time and frustration. This app is a god send! Thank-you! You just don’t know how much I appreciate the (chance) to learn.

Easy. Fun. Learning.. I discovered this app while trying to find a good early education app for my 2nd grade whom is a struggling reader. When I first downloaded it and opened it I thought it was just another to delete from one of my app downloading splurges. But I always attempt to give the app developers a chance to win me on the app. So I started to explore around on it and I came to find out it wasn’t for my 2nd grader it was for me. I have enjoyed many of the different courses I came across from parenting to coding. They aren’t to long nor a lot of reading, that’s what I love about it. You can sit and watch the video to become more educated on the topic of choice. I have yet to find one con about the app thus far. I will update if I do find something I can’t look past with the app! Great job!

Definetly worth getting. I would definitely recommend this app (great job on the appearance of the app by the way. I like how simple it is.), because I love this style of learning. I have been using it for a few weeks now to understand Algebra concepts better, and it’s been working pretty well. I love how fun and interactive the quizzes are, and I love how you can just jump around and look at a whole load of different subjects without having to level up or something too. Now, I have given this review 4 stars though, because I find some of the explanations too complicated or lacking in clarity. Overall though, it’s a great learning tool, but for some of the subjects I feel it’s better to learn it the old fashioned way and then use Brilliant to really clarify your understanding and anchor down your skills once and for all!!!

Feels like playing a game. It feels like playing a video game but it focuses on learning, which is awesome. The few gripes I have are minor - for example there are a lot more typos and mistakes than I anticipated, but I’m sure they’ll get ironed out as people report them; there is no dark mode and the app’s theme is white so it’s a bit too bright at night even with brightness down; lastly, if you stop mid-lesson and later resume, it makes you start from the beginning again. I understand that this is probably better so you can review where you left off, but making that a choice rather than mandatory would be great. I’m not listing the pros of the app because they are self-evident and as advertised: it’s a fun, interactive way to learn and keep up with STEM concepts with very easy-to-follow explanations.

Gamer. Nothing against mobile games, I have played a LOT of them over the years. I’ve recently switched to “games” that provide more mental exercises. Brilliant does a great job of teasing you with problem solving concepts through puzzles. I can’t seem to bring myself to go premium due to the high price tag and knowing that I cannot get my monies worth without being on the app more frequently. So, the daily free puzzles will do for now. Also, I’d like to think of myself as a self starter, and if I’m truly going to invest in learning a topic, I wouldn’t rely on on app to get me along. So, this to reduces the likelihood that a premium membership is worth the price to me. This is just my opinion, as I do appreciate the work and effort that goes into this service, and would likely go premium if it were less expensive.

Oh really?. Question of the week regarding the SUV of toilets. The authors might like to reconsider their answer to this ASAP if they wish to retain any credibility. (Hint - Flush power and volume is dependant on the amount and height of water descending from the CISTERN not the volume of the bowl. The bowl illustrated could not even fill above the level in the “U” bend unless there was a already a blockage followed by multiple flushes, in which case the force of each flush would be absorbed by the existing body of water and have even less impact on the blockage.)

Amazing. Brilliant is what it’s called, Brilliant. It has allowed me to look at science problems in a and how to solve them in a whole new way while also being fun. I highly recommend this app for high schoolers as this can be very helpful in class and learning for fun.

Dark Mode. I like the app, it has lots of great features and content. A feature that I feel should be implemented though is dark mode. Other than that, this is a great app keep doing what you’re doing.

Great way to spend your downtime!. Brilliant has an excellent range of courses for anyone interested in STEM areas. Although some of the courses can not be accessed without paying for premium, there is still an excellent array of courses with lots to learn! My only suggestion is to make more courses free! (Only if possible, of course)

Brilliant Review. Brilliant is really cool because there are so many courses that you can do and try. It helps you practise your maths and improve in many different skills. The courses guide you through each question step by step and it is fun as well

Teach the basics as well!!!. I want to learn calculus just to get ahead of my math classes. However, when i started the calculus course was completely clueless what the actual heck was going on even from the ‘easy’ part of calculus. You can’t expect us students to learn something without teaching the basics first. Either that or I’m just really dumb. Overall, excellent app for us students to learn from!!! 👍

Brought joy again. You guys are incredible. Thank you so much for this app, I’m relearning math as an adult, and if only they taught us this way in school … many thanks for your creation. Please continue adding content, maybe applied math for economics?

One of the best platforms for learning however quite expense if for full access. Great application to learn many concepts in a way that suits a variety of learning needs- however you do not get to finish the course’s with out playing a fair wack of money.

Excellent learning app. Very well designed courses. The hints and explanations for each question make the learning experience challenging but not difficult. I have gained a greater understanding of mathematics in 10 hours of using Brilliant than I did in 4 years of high school.

Predatory Scam. This site auto-renewed my membership despite my account being set to not auto-renew and then stated they don’t do refunds despite me contacting them on the day the unauthorised money was taken which breaches consumer laws in my country. I ended up having to use all my Christmas funds to cover the stolen money and had no Christmas thanks to these people. I would avoid doing business with this company at all costs as they are a predatory scam.

Shallow and Not Particularly Broad. If you want to brush up on maths concepts it’s handy but I don’t really feel like it goes deep enough to reach the level of familiarity I was seeking. I personally wound up using Khan Academy for my self learning. And every topic that isn’t maths that I wants to learn or brush up on in the style Brilliant offers was available. That’s said the interactive learning and explanations for incorrect quiz answers are really good. It just didn’t do what I was hoping for and at a somewhat steep price.

Brilliant review. there are things I have always wanted to learn but haven’t been able to. Brilliant slows you to learn multiple areas of dumpster science which school doesn’t give you. It may seem like a hefty price but really everyone should get this app and experience learnijg things that just you can’t anywhere else. Overall a great app for a “worth it” price tag.

In every way possible: enlightening and engaging.. I have no problem finding the motivation to open Brilliant. It’s incredibly addictive even for an educational application. I absolutely adore the story-telling style of the courses, the simplistic, minimalistic design of the interface, and even the beautiful, organic artwork. It can even be seen that more and more courses are being designed and added: all I can is, and with confidence I do so, the people behind Brilliant are hardworking, intelligent, and most importantly—they have passion. Thank you, Brilliant!

Amazing Idea and execution. As someone who needs to visualise things to understand concepts, this app comes in handy. The reason for 4 stars is due to like small bits of text that I personally found confusing. I wish there was a way in the app to choose the wording and maybe reword that sentence or a help AI that makes it easier to understand and adds context to the previous paragraphs . Overall I love this concept, wish I could work for a company like this to deliver content and make it easier/relatable to life. I still need to learn more coding but if there is an opportunity for keen learner.

Good app, room for improvement. - spaced repetition would make learning much more efficient. For example, Codecademy has a daily practice option where multiple choice question are shown on the things you’ve learned. Brilliant could accomplish something similar by resurfacing problems that were attempted in the past. - changing the time zone for the notifications doesn’t work, the app exists the page for changing the time zone few seconds after opening it. - accessing old daily problems that were not attempted should be easier. Right now you have to go the archive, scroll down and check each problem to see if you’ve done.

Phenomenal way to learn. Much better than watching boring lectures with an uninterested lecturer. The interactivity makes it more engaging and game-like. My only critique is I wish there was more things to learn other than science and math. Learning finance concepts through this for example would be great.

I am learning a lot. 4.99/5!. This app is amazing at teaching. My only criticism/feature suggestion would be a dark mode. I have been solving a lot of problems in bed as I go to sleep and when I wake up. It’d be nice to have the option to flip the colour scheme from white to black. Other than that I can’t complain and would recommend to anyone interested in the topics taught in courses on brilliant .

Good but......... This is a wonderful educational app that make learning difficult topic easier . It fun and has a well designed interface. But one thing , is the types of courses are a bit limited. I would really love to see a corse on smell or taste. Or other corses on the compounds behind emotions. This would then really make a perfect app for learning as science is so broad! Overall this is a educational app that has great patentual but could add a bigger options of corse about other fields of science.

This is BRILLIANT. This application is a great way to educate yourself, your students, your friends. With more than 100 different courses, and lessons available for anyone. The courses include scientific education, mathematic problem solving, logic and calculation ect. This is a great app sponsored by kauskausart… I might have misspelt the name, but you can lean and take a step into yours and our future together.

Steep price but free stuff is still good. There can also be an assumed level of syntactical and symbology understanding in some modules. You might encounter a symbol used that you don’t know and isn’t explained. Otherwise I’m really enjoying the range of content and also how well it is all collected together in an easy to access and modular fashion. Great stuff. Shame that paid subscription price is so high though.

No more maths phobia. I have spent my whole life being scared of maths. In about a week of using this app, it seems to have gone. It’s early days but I’m feeling much more confident and even beginning to enjoy doing it. The format and design of the app is Brilliant for someone like me to learn from. If you find maths scary, this app will help you too. Give it a try. It’s worth the subscription

Great but. This app is great, only problem is high subscription fees, but usually a sale comes around once a year, so that’s nice. The biggest problem though is the sound effects. I like to listen to music while i use this app, and the stupid sound effects keep pausing it. Sometimes i can glitch it so i can listen to music at the same time, but that’s only happened twice. This has severely cut down my usage of the app. Please add in a mute button

Makes learning simple & fun!. I love this app - it’s one of the few I have purchased and it’s worth the cost. I was always reluctant to do further studies as I felt like I wasn’t “smart enough” and on top of that the pressure/cost of attending University/tafe. On Brilliant you can find so many different areas of interest and I found myself learning about things I never would have chosen initially - it’s expanded my knowledge on various topics and it’s really easy to use/follow. I also had an issue with my payment and had such wonderful support from customer service (Kenzie). Thank you for creating such a great learning platform and for employing great people!

Thea best learning app. I’m surprised by how well-designed and complete the product is. The courses are super intuitive and fun to learn, everything is gamified so friendly to people with short attention span or who get bored easily like me. Highly recommend to anyone who has an interest in STEM subjects.

Wonderful experience so far. I’m using this app to catch up on the maths I missed in high school, and it’s working really well for me so far. I’m someone who seems to only deeply understand concepts by trying to use / implement them, so the hands on interactive puzzles are perfect for me. Fantastic job!

👍. Very good learning app, makes it easy and fun, and has many interesting topics. Would love to see more people using this app. Thanks for the developers for making this amazing app. Slightly expensive, But worth it.

Well presented and thoughtful application. I enjoy the questions and how it references you to areas you can study if you are not sure. My only constructive criticism is that it should provide a better description of the methodology to study using the app.

Lube your brain. Brilliant puzzles are so well designed and crafted they provide you with new enticing ways to think about the world. There are so many new challenges in wide variety of subjects that are really good fun! I do recommend to anyone who keen to enjoy the thrilling of using your brain. It’s awesome!

This app is good but..... I have been using Brilliant for a while now and I get really annoyed every time I finish a Introduction and then it tells me that to continue the course I need to pay 160 dollars a year to continue. Overall I enjoy brilliant but you should make the prices cheaper

Brilliant.. I do find Brilliant exceptional. I can’t call myself a mathematician but I do like maths as a hobby these days. Brilliant has great exercises from an educational perspective and they seem to have an unlimited supply. I used to be part of a maths club but they did not have great quizzes and in the long run there was not a strong enough emphasis on learning for my liking.

Explained in a different way (but good). For me in a high school kid I have never failed a class but I never understood them either but this app has helped me understand the topics that we’re doing in class in a different way than they’re explaining it. I love this app so much two things though I wish there was a read out loud and a draw feature.

Very impressed - practical. I failed mathematics in school but have been great at programming. I struggled to grasp the formulae and didn’t see how it applied in real life. I wish apps like this existed then! Just spending a couple of days on the course, I understand so many things that I didn’t before! I can even see how it applies to real life now (I work in Technology)! This is awesome. Thank you!

Great tool. The lessons are always well planned and broken into very easily chewable bites. I’ve been going through several courses dust my trigonometry and algebra and, so far, The only complaint I’ve got is against my school teachers for not having been this good.

Excellent. Love it. If learning is something you like to do, this is an excellent app to learn something new, refresh your skills and encourage you to continue in your path of education. A+++

Very useful; still needs refinement.. If one profession has a tendency to attract more incompetent teachers than any other, it’s the math teaching profession, without a doubt. Brilliant is an attempt to overcome that. The folks behind the app have made quite good progress in this area. However, they still have a tendency to explain tricky operations awkwardly; jump from a basic math concept to a more advanced one without first walking the student through step by step; fail to give the student opportunities to practice what they have learned; and finally, they fail to give summaries of the key points of what each unit has taught, so the student can commit the key points to memory. Overall, however, this is a worthwhile app that will teach you maths in a way that you’re unlikely to learn in school.

Learning that is Enjoyable and Accessible. I love Brilliant's approach to learning. It is both fun while being thorough - not dumbed down to the point that it is pointless - and at the same time accessible for anyone no matter your background.

Great. I bought a subscription. The mathematics and science is at a college level and is well described and taught. The visuals are great and really aid in creating an understanding. However, it is not perfect. I believe they should have 50% more questions and go deeper in some topics. Plus, I really want Thermodynamics to be added haha.

Needs a practice hub!. Brilliant asks great questions but it’s seriously lacking focus on practice and repetition. You could argue it has practice within the course you’re doing but once you complete that practice it won’t reset to keep practicing, making a hub purely for practice where you can focus on courses you’ve completed or answers you’ve gotten wrong previously for 5 minutes to maintain streaks will really make the brilliant mobile app fly!

Very US-centric questions. I’ve only used the demo/free quizzes but there’s no option to choose metric measurements in settings anywhere. Meaning any question requiring a volume calculation requires me to know feet/inches/gallons and in some instances convert those sizes to equivalent US state sizes. We don’t learn US geography at school in Australia so I’m just guessing on those questions! Maybe settings can be adjusted in the paid version but at $25 a month I’m not inclined to find out!

Thank you for teaching me maths!. It’s been over 15 years since I did maths in school and I’m starting some study soon that includes two maths units. This app has given me the perfect revision and taught me plenty of new things. I feel much more confident with my maths skills and knowledge going into my course. I love the ease of use of the , the examples used in the content and the sense of progress it gives as it weaves through the different section.

Needs more. The courses and content in premium are good but the process for learning is not always clear and can get really confusing. I found it often has quantum leaps where I lost track. Should be backed up with video tutorials to consolidate learning as well as spaced repetition. This would better accommodate visual and auditory learners.

Love it!. One of the few math resources I’ve experienced that are engaging & push me to learn! I am really enjoying it so far and love the process. The style of art, the method of learning, the presentation of concepts.. fantastic. Thank you for the time & dedication!

Wonderful but the price.... My son was really enjoying this and I looked at parts and really approve, it’s how I try and think and learn. He said, but I can’t do anything more without a subscription, it’s $1.59 a year and I said well that actually sounds excellent! (The first time I’ve ever thought a subscription sounded value for money, actually cheap) but he was totally wrong. For the quality I’d even do $15, but seriously over a hundred dollars a year is completely insane. Wouldn’t it be better to have this spread everywhere over the world and people excited about it? Could you branch this off as a nonprofit part of your company even? It’s really sad that money makes something unavailable when it’s one of the few apps that teaches thinking that could help break someone out of poverty even...

Great app for my brain. Really enjoy this app. I am not very good but I love the feeling of trying to solve a problem. It helps me in my work and allows build my problem solving skills. Also when you are solving problems you are not worry so it is great for an anxiety.

Good app. Just want to give feed back. Great app but i just want to give feedback. Firstly, put a feedback button on the app or make it more visable in settings Secondly, would be great to be able to add courses to a save for later list (probs choose a better name). It would be great to have a list of the courses I want to do so when I finish one course I can go straight to my list and pick the next course

Truly brilliant. I am doing the Python set at the moment, and am finding that learning in bite-sized chunks suits me perfectly. The lessons/quizzes are well designed (with a few, forgivable, flaws) and almost more like playing games than working at learning something. This may be the way forward for all education, especially in these times of fear of being together in groups. The hardest thing about Brilliant is picking the right course for you, and, perhaps, entering at the right level if you have some prior knowledge in the subject area. For me, well worth the yearly subscription.

Apsolutely Brilliant. I wish they would update the community area to make things more user friendly. I love the courses particularly on logic and algebra but always want more practice questions to use my brain more. I really wish there was a clean and simple way to do this especially for paid users, without going to the daunting, confusing and uninspiring community questions area.

Great learning app. I know you have to be at least 13 years old but im just 10 and i love this app. My friend recommended it to me and it is great! Lots of courses and activities that help you learn. I reccomend this to all students who want to improve their skills and learn more about their subjects.

Wait! There’s more!. What I love is that the introductory problems can be done quickly but then the main problem is at a deeper level. Better still, the comments by others leads to interesting discussions which entail higher mathematics. Thank you to all contributors.

Beware auto renewal!. Whilst I found the app useful I was incredibly disappointed in the sneaky auto subscription & renewal - there was no notification from brilliant when it was setup, and nothing prior to the renewal date. They incentivise the annual payment, then bang, you’ve paid for another year with no notice - if it wasn’t for the PayPal notice of payment I’d be none the wiser without checking my statements. The cancelation process (in app) is also very long winded and designed to mislead, with very long scroll to get to the buttons, and the buttons you actually need to press are greyed out/look inactive. There is also no refund on cancellation, your ‘subscription’ has to run its term. For me, all the above points to a questionable business ethics - as they are seem actively trying to prevent customers from making informed financial decisions.

It’s Brilliant! (I had to). Honestly it’s just a great app. I’m too lazy to write a long review, but wanted to say it’s a great app. Schools should be using this ressource immediately.

Great. This app is AMAZING! It makes learning so fun! But could you maybe make a little more fun puzzles like the ones in the logic course? I just keep repeatingly do the logic course because that one is so fun.

Its grehtt. *shrek voice

Really good, but a bit expensive. Really good, but a bit expensive

Fun but expensive. It’s expensive

Decent but overpriced. So you are either forcing me to pay 120$ for a year or 24$ for a month? This pricing doesn’t make sense at all.

Math/science. Brilliant is a good app for a high school and college level math and science

Just started today so far so good. I’ve just started trying Brilliant today so I will be giving 60% as I have not fully explored it. But I’m writing this review because I’d like to ask if it’s possible to allow us to bookmark/save a completed problems of the week as I would like to go back to certain problems and learn more deeply about the concepts/topics (i.e. Center of Mass) in the problems. Thank you for considering my suggestion, will submit an actual review once I used the app more.

Bah.... Must pay beyond the first trial section. Bullshloppa

Love it, but a little expensive for all. I absolutely LOVE this app so far, it’s easy to use and makes it fun. I use a notebook to take notes as I go along and it helps me memorize and focus. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because for premium, you must pay roughly $12 per month, though there are many good corses that are free. I highly suggest Brilliant if you need help with math/science, or are just interested.

Nice concept, but lacks accessibility…. Great app and concept, but I have a learning disability and it would be helpful if it would read the text to you, or be presented as a video. I feel this greatly reduces the accessibility for those that have different ways of learning information.

Worthless, zero stars. Don’t waste your money.. Don’t believe all the fake reviews. Regretted spending money on this instantly. Do you want to pay a stupid amount monthly to do repetitive, hollow high school quizzes? Then waste your money on this. The only thing you’ll learn is how big of a sucker you are for slick, misleading advertising.

Misleading, Garbage. This app claims that you can "learn" and "grow," yet all of the lessons require you to have extensive prior knowledge of the topics. The explanations are also really horrible, so it actually never teaches you anything.

BRILLIANT!. I love this app! It’s honestly been somewhat life changing for me. However, I don’t appreciate how expensive it is, but I can honestly say that it’s worth the price. I understand what makes it so expensive. If you aren’t willing to pay the price, I’d suggest just using the free courses. There’s lots of them, and they’re still super good. The people going on and on about how this app is too expensive don’t know what they’re talking about.

A great supplementary tool for learning. I tutor full time, and I use this with my students from time-to-time. It is great for students with ADHD and ASD whom thrive with interactions/visuals typically. Pairing this with a traditional course and loads of practice is helpful. However, I would never want to solely depend on Brilliant for learning. On the app there is not much for practice (for math) and sometimes explanations fall a bit short (I’ve noticed this in “Calculus in a nutshell” but perhaps that should be expected for such a deep topic). It is a wonderful tool for visuals, interactions, and getting general concepts. The classroom feature is great for educators and the discount welcomed as it is fairly pricey for individuals. I like that it is a bit gamified with rewards systems and streaks which is definitely the direction we’re needing to go in education for our students. Thanks Brilliant!

Great but Too Expensive. This is a great app that makes math engaging and fun. The free version is definitely worth a look! The paid-version (subscription format) is just too expensive to be realistic for most people.

Never thought maths was fun!. An awesome app, I’m exploring and learning along the way!

Disappointed. I jumped in for the premium, then lost my account status. So contacted support, they got me back to my account being premium. It happened a second time , contacted support, they gave me some ideas as to why I might be able to reactivate my account. Cache issues, etc. I did all that with my iPhone. Spent quite a bit time on it. I only was able to use up the free version. But it’s not just the money, but the learning experience I found myself guessing a lot of the quizzes. And I suppose if you do that enough osmosis might kick in . That’s not really learning. I did that in school and was lucky to graduate. I’m just going delete the app and chalk up to an expensive lesson. I will say that support does address any issues, but I don’t feel that I’ve learned or will learn anything. Probably had to do with how one learns.

The app itself is great if I could use it lol I’ve tried getting help. Customer support isn’t getting back to me it’s showing I have premium in my subscription but not. In the app some one help please :)

Positive. So far so good. I am learning programming.

I wish this was the way I was taught in high school. Very comprehensive and introduces learning material in a way that is interactive and easy to understand. It would be good if there were more optional questions to try if you don’t understand the concept right away.

Goals don’t stick. Good app, but goals don’t seem to stick and there’s no way to see courses which I’ve set a goal for.

Excelente aplicativo. Estimula o raciocínio e apresenta muitos fatores didáticos incríveis

Awesome. This is a super brilliant website to learn and develop ourselves.

Please add dark mode. App is nice UI but needs dark mode, can’t use it at night

50/50. Fun, educational Limited, expensive for premium

Expensive subscription fees. Long gone are the days when what you purchase is actually yours, The monthly fees you're asking for are already half of what I pay for my cell phone plan. Yes, we know about your website and your weekly free exercises. But that doesn't address the amount you're asking for here does it?

Awesome app. Very fun way to upgrade your knowledge

Poorly explained Calculus lessons. Was going through the calculus lesson and it was not only difficult to follow and hardly explained, but the text often jumped around in terms of subject from one page to the next and there was very little if any cohesive flow of clear thought. I had high hopes for this app. Deleted.

charged me an account that no longer exists. after trying the free trial of this app i came to the conclusion that it wasn’t for me, not a bad app, just not suited for my learning style. i cancelled my subscription. i proceeded to receive four separate emails from this company telling me that they have attempted to withdraw a years subscription from my account. after the fourth, they stated that if this attempt failed, they would cease trying to withdraw, and cancel my plan automatically. confusing of course, given i had already cancelled by this point, and so in response to this, i deleted my account, because it states when you do so that any subscription will be automatically cancelled. this morning i woke up to a notification from my bank alerting me that the charge for the years subscription had been processed, and put towards an account the quite literally does not exist anymore. i’m now waiting for a response from this company, and a refund.

Transformative Way of Learning. I was shocked at how this app managed to make me learn things in maths that I haven’t been able to figure out in the traditional education of schools, and all of this is done through the interactive graphics with the least words of explanation. I’m obsessed with the power of the illustrations at delivering information to the brain, it almost gets etched on the memory that you don’t forget it, unlike school’s traditional learning method. The premium is a bit expensive, but it’s worth it. Yet, I wish they could reduce the price slightly. I hope they introduce chemistry, biology, kinesiology, and many other subjects. I wish schools adopts this apps’ genius learning method. Overall, great app and effort, keep up the good work. Well done!

Doesn’t work. It says nothing works offline which I would understand but I’m not offline, I’m at my home with full wifi and internet.

Tricks you into reviews. Educational, but expensive and tricks you into writing reviews, ahem.

Good app. Good selection of topics. Nice bite size portions.

Couple days in. Had for a couple days... It's pretty neat! Maybe some more varied topics could be needed but I've already learned a bunch about some stuff relevant to my profession, so that's cool. I just need to remember to check back every day!

New address. Good

Cannot change subscription once started with free trial. I’ve looked in the app, in my Apple ID’s subscription on my mobile device, Apple Music application and the web version. Seems like it’s either a free trial or ~$200 Canadian for the year. I really wanted to try the monthly subscription but I guess I’ll just delete the app unsatisfied.

Good app. But they charge over 200$ for whole year without my confirmation. Update: after an email with the details of the payment, they refund immediately after 2days. They need option to choose annually or monthly.

Amazing App. This is basically just an appreciation review to how amazing this app is. I don’t know why people give this app bad ratings, it probably takes a long time to make these courses and obviously nobody would make an app like this with this much detail and art and make it free. This app is honestly amazing

The best app for learning!. This app is just, I used it for 2 days and my critical thinking methods and problem solving methods improved DRASTICALLY. It’s unbelievable that I haven’t downloaded this till now. If they’re gonna ask me to pay 180 bucks for annual plan so that I can be like SO MUCH SMARTER THAN I AM CURRENTLY, guess what? I’ll frickin do it!

Très apprécié. Je l’utilise depuis 1 semaines et c’est parfait pour moi

A «Pay 2 Learn ». The title is explicit. All the courses require payment

This app is just brilliant. I hardly get impressed by apps but this one just amazed me. I really enjoy solving problems and not only did it teach me new solutions to difficult questions, but also I realized how I like computer-related issues. Thank you!

Good and fun but way to expensive. I loved the introduction part of this app. It kind of shows you what you are in for and how it works. Seems like a great app. And then it tell you that you need to pay 120$/year or 29.99$/month for this. Wayyyyy to expensive for an app like this.

Great Application!. So many useful things to learn. Visually engaging and keeps you coming back to learn. I think it’s worth trying out!

Really fun, puts you in a flow state. I noticed recently that my daily life never involved anything harder than arithmetic problems and that I was forgetting common mathematical rules. I figured that in tandem with all the googling we do (I.e never memorizing things anymore), not having to work through mathematical and scientific problems would atrophy my potential for quality thinking. So I was looking for something I can do anywhere a few times a week to keep my analytical thinking sharp and Brilliant is actually really really fun because it’s just the right amount of challenging and that keeps you engaged and puts you in a very satisfying flow state.

Tout simplement brillant !!!. Une application instructive qui va à l’essentiel tout stimulant l’utisateur.

Great app however. Great information however nothing really fits my interests and much of the stuff that does costs money. I would suggest that everyone should watch kurzgesagt in a nutshell which is produced in partnership with brilliant.

Deceptive Trial Cancellation. Incredibly deceptive trial cancellation practice. Customer service communication sends you in loops and the app conveniently malfunctioned not allowing me to cancel my trial until AFTER the deadline. Once available, the cancellation process requires a ridiculous number of “Are you SURE you want to cancel” questions and other processes meant to trick you into continuing your cancellation request. Customer service emails are not responded to in a timely manner and require several emails to convey information like “go here and fill out this request” - which at best illustrates incompetence and at worst deceptive business practices. All of the above renders the app useless - if you cannot stand behind your product on substance alone and must resort to such practices to gain subscriptions, then even you clearly don’t believe in your product.

Brilliant!!. Glad I found this app out. Maybe in the future the AI function can be able to examine the studying part term of users in order to help us better learn and exercise intelligently. This should be scientific enlightenment movement application for those underdeveloped countries! Hope there are more different languages. I am originally from China, if there’s a chance, I hope I could work with the developers of App and innovate the way of learnings for more people in demand of knowledge like this. Especially with the logical way of thinking and tutoring.

Super fun, challenging, and educational. This may be my favorite app - for my kids and for me. There are a plethora of short lessons to choose from. They flow well amd are easy to understand through the interactive modules - some have recommended prerequisites, which is helpful so that you don’t jump into something you’re not ready for. The section on quantum physics actually broke it down in a way I could understand. The logic section is great. My favorite may be the math basics / history one, which is fascinating and starts with innovative ways the ancient mathematicians figured out complex math.

Not convinced to pay $150 for an annual subscription. I tried the app with high expectations after seeing some really cool animations/visualizations, but walked away quite disappointed. The app is buggy: buttons freeze easily and had to relaunch the app multiple times and even reinstall. Most importantly, the courses are put together disjointly. I constantly finding myself questioning why I’m giving the challenges for no obvious reason. I don’t see the point of many of the exercises. Maybe the quality varies course by course and I just haven’t found the good ones? Any way, it’s a let down and I’m not ready to sink 150 for an annual subscription.

Problem Solving with a Great Community. Brilliant means “an inspired idea,” and that’s exactly what Brilliant is. The whole point of the app is to learn how to solve problems; using principles of science, math, and logic, you’ll be guided through lessons on all sorts of fascinating concepts. Grasp probability! Learn about the cosmos! Solve the weekly problem set! Best of all, Brilliant has a community full of brilliant minds who will help you understand solutions and why they work. If an answer doesn’t make sense, discuss the solution and see why it’s true. You never know what you’re going to learn!

Slow going, dull, scam on subscription—looks cancelled when active. Tried it after a youtuber said it is great. After trying it, I think he was paid to say so. The process is slow. To progress, you have to click through and read the explanation. But often the question or portion is a no-brainer. Slogged through a couple sections, hoping I’d learn something new. Nope. So I went in and cancelled. When I opened the app it said “renew subscription.” This implies it’s cancelled. So I cancelled and also read wording consistent with no subscription. And yet—a month later they charged me for ONE YEAR. It’s a scam with graphics. * Edit: checked again just now. After cancelling 3 times, it still says I have a Premium subscription. The site is confusing.

The Best. This is the best “brain training” site I have used. The others make you feel good by charting your “growth” while you optimize mnemonics and procedures to become more efficient with some game. That isn’t really growth; you aren’t learning. This is different. Brilliant asks great questions that require productive struggle, the true hallmark of brain growth. The structure of the questions leads you to deepen your understanding of math and science intuitively, while still being grounded in rigorous logic. I teach advanced math, and this my #1 choice when students or parents ask for enrichment resources. I use it for personal growth; it’s wonderful.

DO NOT BUY MORE THAN A MONTH. Don’t sign up for a year before you try the paid content! I found that the content was VERY poor in some places, including outright errors in the paid content. For example, I was given an explanation to a puzzle where all dragons had red eyes (as opposed to blue eyes) and the solution said one of them has blue eyes. The solution was also worded so poorly I had to read it four times to understand what they meant even. For reference, I am an experienced attorney - logic problems and reading do not come hard for me. I signed up for the yearly program with the expectation from the free content that what was in the paid content would be on par, but it was majorly inferior. Additionally, the mobile experience was poorly conceived and functioned intermittently. A complete disappointment. I asked to cancel after a couple of hours into the monthly/1 year signup and they refused, asking me to find a way to enjoy the next 364 more days of this horrible app. F- for customer service. Shameful. So try it if you like, but don’t sign up for more than a month until you get to see the app for the below-standard work that it is... or at least to know you like it.

Worth the Investment for those serious about Math. I’m using Brilliant to help refresh my memory on math, in order to help me create better computer program applications. This application explains mathematical concepts pretty well. There are things that I learned in this app, that teachers never bothered explaining when I was in junior high or high school. Because of this app, I’m already doing better at math than I ever did previously in my life. And I’ve only been using it a short while. To use this app, you do need to pay, but if you compare the amount of knowledge you can learn here, for $138 per year, with the amount of money you pay at college, it’s clearly worth it. Annual payments may sound like a lot for people, but they’re technically discounted most of the time, compared to the monthly pay. And it’s much cheaper than your average college tuition.

What I always wanted. I love the math and logic games. I didn’t have great math training growing up but math intrigued me. Over the years learned I am a very logical person. Then I started to improve my math skills with Khan academy etc. I like to play games very much but certain games like chess or simcity buildit. Then I opened this app the other day and was blown aways. The lessons here are soo interesting and mentally stimulating. It is like going on a mental adventure, readying a mystery novel, and playing an exciting and relaxing games. I can apply these skills to my life. My mind feels woke now. Thank you.

Amazing App (For those with time and interest). This app has amazing courses, some of the courses have a better explanation than others. For example, the logic course is amazing and very useful, in the other hand calculus done right needs a little improvement because the way they explain some key concepts are rushed and fussy. However, you will enjoy it and learn from it. I would recommend it to those who are into math, science and want to improve their knowledge on the matters. Don’t buy if you don’t have time, I bought the year subscription but I’ve only used it for the time gaps that I have between college terms, so consider time!

Very Good. This app has excellent graphical representations of mathematical concepts, many of which are interactive. Also, the descriptions are as concise as possible. It’s a great way to learn core concepts, especially if you are a visual learner or averse to numbers. I would like to see more practice problems for each concept, however . I have not played with all the features, but at least with the guided lessons I haven’t come across problem sets, just one or two examples and then on to the next topic. Overall, a very good app for what it is. Don’t expect a complete education from this app though in its current form.

For grade schoolers. This app has a few things here and there that you may learn if you are good at memorization, but other than that they teach you at a very low level. It is frustrating for me to click through a bunch of low level questions, that just so happen to have the answers right above them, and I would only classify myself as moderately intelligent. If you are going to make an app with such little capacity to induce learning then don’t change 120 dollars a year. If the app was free I might have had the will to muddle through all of the basic answers and learn what I could, but I’m not dropping a 120 bomb to use this kids game.

Brilliant is AWESOME!!!🤓😜🤓. It’s really worth downloading!!! So many subjects, explanations, information, and more!!! Best app for smart people and nerds🤓 (not that nerds are bad. It’s actually 😎 being one!!!). The only 2 things that I would like added and changed is something about biology and have all subjects being usable. But that will never happen because I know app makers need money. Really worth downloading!!! I’m 11 years old and it’s summer vacation right now. If you’re a nerd like me and enjoy learning about cool, new stuff, then download this app and spend a part of the day getting ready for middle school and learning new stuff!!! ❤️ this app!!!

Non-sustainable learning. If you want brain puzzles to entertain yourself/keep active then it’s a good app. I planned on using it to improve my Algebra skills for a class. Unfortunately some sections only have one problem so if you don’t get it correct you’re just given an explanation and the course still moves on. Without having multiple problems it doesn’t reinforce the skills it’s trying to teach so some lessons are pretty much wasted. For $25 a month I expected more problems to really drill in the skills I needed. It’s not a bad app by any means but it’s more of a puzzle subscription than a learning tool which isn’t worth $25/month for my college budget.

Expensive but worth it!. The monthly premium subscription is on the expensive side but the content is definitely worth it. I would recommend the yearly subscription over the monthly subscription unless you’re a sporadic subscriber as the yearly is under $15 a month. The content is fantastic, easy to understand with great examples, solid & consistent teaching style across the board. If your hesitant to pull the trigger there’s plenty of free content to try the platform out and get you hooked.

Neat app, poor pricing model. Came across this app in the app store. Gave it a go. Content and layout seem great. But it relies on a subscription model. What's more, only option I can find in the app is an annual option for $150. Steep. Most people dont stick with these things for a whole year and I bet the company knows this, so theyre essentially trying to make money on peoples planning fallacy / overoptimism. They also price a bunch of people out including consumers who might benefit most from the product. In short, while the product has a lot of potential, its pricing structure suggests its designed for rich, overoptimistic people. Too bad!

If this was free…. This is basically Duolingo for science, math, etc. I would love to give it five stars, but it loses most of it’s stars due to affordability. How many interested people can’t afford to go beyond the teaser lessons? This product is great if you have the money, but the price commitment is set, I suspect, at a calculated pain point. “What will the market bear? How can the devs & finance folks behind the devs optimize profits?” The price is not obviously exorbitant except when you factor in how nickeled and dined many of us are by other bills. Then $24/mo or $120/yr is too much. Too bad… I would love to be able to go through these courses. They seem well designed so far, though three lessons into probability is probably not enough lessons to draw conclusions about how good the whole course is. If this was $24 a year, I’d jump at this.

Great UX n lessons!. I love the colorful n interactive bite sized lessons, and the sense of humor throughout. Being able to visualize and interact with concepts I wasn’t previously aware of I super cool, AND I understand Calculus now! I did not know anything about that yesterday! And Python! I feel comfortable and open to learning more and challenging myself because I trust Brilliant to carry me and support me as I learn. They never skip information, it’s always piece by piece- and yet, it is never going too fast or too slow. A very fun way to spend my time.

Great resource - Room for improvement. These courses are very helpful. That said, the usefulness of the app (and even its fuller-featured web version) would be greatly improved with a few added features. In particular, I often find myself wishing I had the ability to “bookmark” or difficult problems in a quiz so that I could easily track which concepts I need to work on and return to them at a later date. This could go hand-in-hand with an improved dashboard page that gave a more granular view of my progress through the various courses. A highlighting feature would be nice as well. Beyond that, I’ve been quite happy with the app.

Amazing Educational Resource. This app is amazing for the things it teaches. Each lesson uses a realistic application to help explain the concept easier and the interface is super clean and easy to navigate. The problems are interesting and fun. My only problem is the price of the subscription is a little bit more more than it’s worth. And this might be a turn off for those with financial issues. Other than that, a wonderful tool to keep your brain in shape and learn.

Love this however I wish it had a bit more!. I love all the quizzes and courses to take, but I feel like it is missing some science courses on biology as well. There is one course of ‘Computational Biology’ however it’d be wonderful to have a more in depth courses about other parts of it as well. Also statistics on your own progress don’t seem to be as obvious until you manually go to your profile settings—rather than your results instantly popping up after a quiz. But overall, I’m really enjoying Brilliant with all its features in premium!

Very impressive (and fun) system of learning.. A buddy bought me a year’s subscription for my birthday, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it. I love the scope of the lessons spanning from middle school algebra to the latest in AI and advanced mathematics…something for everyone no matter your level, and the lessons build on the previous lesson in such manageable increments, that it really is “brilliant!”. I plan to renew my subscription for a second year soon, as I’m enjoying the competition in the various leagues that promote consistent learning habits.

Quenches the Curiosity. This is such an amazing learning tool! As someone who’s always had a strong desire to learn and grow mentally, Brilliant is absolutely perfect for me. If you’re someone like me, definitely try it out! The free trial is great, of course (‘cause who doesn’t like free stuff?), but it’s still worth the money. The curriculum is awesome and the way they implement ideas and facts into visuals is very helpful for remembering. All-in-all, I’m in love with Brilliant. Thank you guys so much!! Also - Regarding the app itself, my one issue is that the home page isn’t loading. It’s not a big deal, but it’s still a bug that I wanted to bring to attention.

Nice app, yet lean on learning. I subscribed to this service to refresh my memory on some fundamental concepts while also exposing myself to new areas of knowledge. Needless to say, this app is well-designed and flashy. The illustrations and user-interface are intuitive and engaging. However, this app lacks a lot with regards to pedagogy. While the brief lessons allow for quick consumption on-the-go, I think the superficiality of the explanations, examples, and exercises leads to shallow learning. If there were a practice/review tool that utilized a spaced-repetition learning model, I might feel more satisfied with my learning progress. In short, don’t expect the same learning outcomes from this app as you would from a more intensive course.

Exactly what I was looking for in a learning app. I wanted something where I could explore a wide range of topics (from how toilets work to astrophysics) and this app does just that. I wish there was a way to provide some specific targeted feedback on a lesson, if you see something off with the content, but overall I have very few negative things to say about the app. I use it for my own exploration, and I have found the way it approaches concepts are helpful to assist my kids in their math journey. Overall, great app.

Incredible!. Brilliant is amazing!!! I’m going into high school and advanced science and math, and I am using it to make sure I understand at least some of it, and it’s teaching me so much. I love how easy it is to understand the different classes, and the pictures and diagrams are very helpful for me. I’m a very visual person, so all of this helps me learn better. Also this isn’t just for high schoolers. There are classes for middle school to very advanced people! This is amazing I definitely recommend it! I also have premium, which is very convenient and not that expensive. I will keep using this for a while!!

Good stuff. I don’t really care to pay for apps, but if they’re this good, then I guess I don’t mind helping out the creators. At the rate I’m flying through these lessons - compared to my league - they better start coming up with more content. Quick! It’s a great way to learn. I recommend it to anyone needing to quickly learn a subject that they cover. Would love to see some other lessons in things like physics, astronomy, or quantum physics and string theory would be amazing. At least a starter course.

Puzzles, Learning, & Fun. These puzzles are amazing! The app starts you off with small, simple exercises and puzzles. But not so diminutive that they’re boring. Then, you progress to more exciting and intricate puzzles; all the while learning, and immediately exercising what you just learned. And the most awesome part, if you don’t understand why something is the way it is, there’s a down to earth explanation - complete with descriptions, pictures, and gifs. You can’t help but learn, and the fun makes you never want to stop learning. If you are a lifelong learner, you will love this app!!!

Can't get enough. I absolutely love this app. It reignited my passion for math and the world of numbers. It teaches in a wonderful fashion that lets you figure it out at your own speed and learn nonchalantly, as some learning should be. It integrates math and science into my daily routine of social media and texting, hopefully one day replacing the latter two completely! Unfortunately I am heartbroken by the price. I would pay it in a millisecond but I simply am a self sufficient student and I don't have extra funds. Despite this, I would recommend this app to anyone with a burning curiosity pertaining to the wonders of the universe and its intricacies :)

Love The App, but Images Not Showing Up. I’ve loved this app for years, and I bought premium for a month so I could do some of the full courses since so many of them seem interesting to me. But when I use the mobile version, none of the images load. Most of the quiz questions depend on some graph or picture, but since I can’t see them I usually just have to guess the answer. It’s really annoying. These images do show up on my laptop but I always do Brilliant lessons on my phone as a “I have 10 minutes free right now” type of thing. I don’t want to have to use my laptop every time I want to do a lesson. Please fix this ASAP. My premium month is almost up and this has made the experience significantly less convenient.

Well done, not worth the money for me. I really liked the lessons that I did. Sometimes with things like this it is difficult to strike a balance between childishly easy and face desk hard. However this kept me engaged and I was able to learn to think through the problems for myself. However to me it is not worth paying $120 a year, especially as this is just a thing I do in a five minute break. I would rather do Khan Academy for five minutes and that’s also free. I would definitely use this app if there was a full version driven by ad revenue that didn’t require payment. Ads are annoying to most people but I don’t mind if the product provides value to my life.

Meh. Looked like a cool app from the Today page of the App Store. Thought I would try it out for a while since it’s Free to download. Then I had to sign up to even see what content it had within the app. Then I get an ad for a 7 day free trial and then can pay $150 for a yearly subscription. There’s no options to pay monthly that I could find in the app. The daily quizzes are cool. The lessons cover a variety of math and science topics but each lesson seems shallow in content and similar to other educational apps that have been around for a while. Didn’t really hold my interest for too long, and the high subscription price is turning me away. Too bad they didn’t have a monthly subscription at an affordable price.

Very Cool. I never got to go to college, but I’m a big science nerd. When I read science for fun I have a definite lack of some fundamentals. I have been through tedious boring lecture type online courses and mostly I just fall asleep. I feel like I’m playing games when I use Brilliant. I know I’m actually learning stuff because I understand stand later stuff that builds on the first lessons. I don’t know why they just don’t give every kid in school a Brilliant app and everyone have fun and learn.

App glitchy, and offline limitations are extremely limiting. All the positive reviews must be paid for. The lessons seem cool and intuitive at first, but as soon as things start getting difficult it starts to read like a textbook. I also bought this app for the sole purpose of completing the lessons offline while I am on an airplane. After I purchased a year-long subscription, they implemented a limit of 6 offline downloads per month. Do not understand why they have the limitation. It seems like completely unnecessary BS. Also, if they update your downloaded lesson before you use it, they completely disable it, instead of updating the download or just letting you use the old version of the lesson.

Neat I guess but not even a little bit worth the subscription costs. I get it, it’s in the small print. A good app shouldn’t have to rely on a “gotcha” that someone’s *technically* agreed to, to maintain a user base. A good app should motivate the users to renew voluntarily. If you’ve got a good app that people like, you won’t have to worry about it. Cancelling the Premium account requires what felt like 10 confirmation pages, which is frankly pathetic and petty. There aren’t really lessons, just exercises pretending to be lessons. They’re difficult but not impossible, and genuinely interesting. But it ends there - they’re just “interesting.” The lessons are ultimately cursory explorations of each topic with no real goal for mastering the material. It was enriching, but not practically useful. Enriching is good, enriching is its own good. But simply “enriching” isn’t worth $120 every year, and it certainly isn’t worth $25 every month. There’s better, more in-depth materials out there that’re either cheaper or free. Why pay so much to just know things about things, instead of actually *knowing* the things? If you can afford $600 for the lifetime subscription literally just go [back to] college.

Could be great if you don’t mind registering. I was happy to download the app but was unable to use it due to having to register with Facebook, google or your email. I personally don’t like having to register in the manner that is requested but after speaking with the developers, they explained that this registration is necessary in order to protect against piracy issues. I understand where they are coming from and if you don’t mind registering, then perhaps this app can be an excellent study resource. I gave it a 4 star review only because I did not get to use it and I do not want to register, however I am sure the app itself is great and might be worth the 5 stars. Good luck!

Best out there, so far. I downloaded this and completed all the free lessons in a few minutes. I absolutely love this app. However, I am not able to continue using it because I can’t afford premium, but I still wanted to write a good review. I think premium would be worth it. The lessons are engaging and highly understandable. If you’re looking for something completely free, go Mimo or Sololearn, but as for paid apps, this one is the best. No question. Not even close. Good luck developers !

Best app for Learning. I am a 7th grade student, before I used to get into a lot of trouble at school (I never did my homework, hated my teachers). All around just did not like it. Then I started using brilliant and it was probably the best thing that has ever happened to me my grades shot up. I had all As and Bs but my computer science was definitely the best I had a 140% in the class that is unbelievable thinking that before that was one of my least favorite classes I was shocked there are so many things to learn on the app.

Not a waste of time. I’m an educated guy, master’s degree and own several businesses but I always found myself playing stupid phone games in my down time, wasting so much time. With Brilliant, I’m still enjoying the down time but instead of being mindless I’m furthering my education in things that really interest me that I’ve known a little about, but it gives the whole picture and really lets you understand things in a larger scope. I paid for the year and do not regret it in the slightest. If I could give this 10 stars I would.

This app has SOOOO much potential. Seriously.. This app has so much potential. The lessons are great. However, there’s no sounds anywhere, and it’s using the Duolingo formula yet missing the most important part; Duo. Make a unique character and build a brand with the character. I feel no connection to the little green circle guy that is currently there. ALSO, the app’s technical parts are terrible. It needs a lot of tuning. Ease of use is there, but there are so so many unskippable long congrats screens everywhere. Adding little things like a “skip” towards the bottom, add little sounds for right and wrong inputs, please please please. I would love this app to be the Duolingo of learning, like Duolingo is of language learning.

Great For All Ages/Levels. Brilliant is a wonderful app that promotes deeper understanding of both simple and complex subjects. As a college STEM student, there isn't enough time to spend on fundamentally understanding every concept and learning the practical applications at the same time. Often, more emphasis is put on practical applications, which results in a lack of fundamental understanding later in life as I've experienced. Supplementing a STEM education with Brilliant has been an awesome experience and I always look forward to the weekly challenge problems!

Had an issue but it was resolved. I have subscribed to Brilliant almost a week ago (Dec. 16, 2020). I had a technical issue with the payment which resulted in me being double charged for the subscription. I wrote to the technical support more than once and finally the issue was resolved promptly and professionally (perhaps they were busy with the holidays and end of year activities). As for the App itself, it is excellent (as anyone can tell from the limited free access features) and I look forward to them adding more fundamental science and engineering topics, complementing them with effective assessment techniques to affirm the learning.

Challenging. I’ve been playing for 2 days now and I like the challenges so far. It will keep me busy and exercise my brain for a while. The explanations are helpful and I wish this tool was around when I was in school. My only issue is when I was finished with a few puzzles I put my phone away and later when I went to continue where I left off the puzzles were there with my answers in place yet didn’t seem to register. I tried to continue but it wouldn’t let me. I clicked explain and it counted the puzzle as unsolved, ugh. There goes a perfect score on this challenge. Overall I’m happy with the game/tool.

Brilliancy Defined. I have only used this app for one week, but have to say so far it is devine. They break down Algebra concepts in Math Foundations class in a visual way that brings a lot more sense to some of the concepts we learned in high school. I’m very much looking forward to what else this app has to offer. With this innovative software I think I’ve finally found the tools I need to get me on track to becoming a future math teacher. Can’t wait for what the future holds:).

Great potential + wonderful site foundation. The content is worth your annual purchase. I love Brilliant and I thank them for allowing subject opportunity to many different groups of people. This site is advancing me in so many ways. I look forward to app upgrades with more functions. The content has no faults although the app lacks basic features that does not reflect the cost of purchase. For example there is so much content, I often scroll through exploring my options but there’s no way to: favorite, save, add to list - nothing, to basically bookmark something for later. A notes function would be GREAT. So many new concepts and things I want to remember for later but not at a desk at the moment. There’s plenty of room for growth as far as app and site functionality : they need to emulate online course sites that allow notes, bookmarks galore and highlighting. As long as they add features to be their fullest potential, I’ll be a yearly subscriber. (Brilliant already surpasses in every other aspect in comparison)

So close to 5 stars! Missing key feature. TL;DR Brilliant, if you see this, please please please include the community wiki on mobile. If it weren’t for this I’d give it 5 stars. No joke, if they made EACH wiki topic downloadable for offline mobile use, I’d pay another $10/month. It’s an incredible feature that plays a huge role in my continued premium subscription. For those who don’t know where it is, it’s the last section on each topic under the practice tab for desktop. I really wish this was on mobile since I’m paying for premium. It’s very doable too since each page is just text/images, not intensive graphics. With phone storage increasing over the years I don’t think an 8 gig download would be unreasonable. iPhone 13 starts at 128gig storage… Besides this the app is great! I love brilliant and commend them for making difficult topics easier to tackle. My generation needs a solid foundation in STEM if we’re going to solve all these intricate world problems. Thank you brilliant for helping us get there (at our own pace) one step at a time.

Very Enjoyable. Being in my mid 40’s, was looking to stimulate more of my mental side but have been out of the game for awhile. Like most, the knowledge I have and use is strong but what I learned a long time ago and haven’t used is hit and miss. Brilliant is great from the start… interactive, well thought out, and well executed. At 15 minutes a night it easily fits into my evening routine. Also… the use of email communication is nice and not burdensome - an interactive lesson on a random topic, click to open app and continue or delete email and you won’t continuously be bombarded with emails.

Awesome so far! One hiccup/bug I found!. Signed up for premium and downloaded a few courses to go thru in offline mode for my upcoming flight. When I boarded the plane and turned on airplane mode (full offline, no wifi) I was able to access the courses with no issues. The bug I think your dev team way want to look into is when the wifi is still enabled (southwest airlines free wifi for free messaging apps but no internet browsing or similar). The downloaded courses should have still worked but were not accessible. Really loving the app so far otherwise!

Great Lessons, Poor Account Implementation. So love the lessons. Love them so much so that I went to upgrade my trial on the website and saw a lifetime option and decided to go for that. They only offered to gift it, so I filled it out as a gift for myself. On a side note, if this isn’t going to be possible the form should check the email address being entered for the gift against the signed in account before accepting payment. Anyways, paying for it of course went smoothly, but then I couldn’t receive the gift for myself. And now I wait. The only option was to send an email. The current plan is to wait 24 hours and then file a claim against stripe payment processing. Not a great experience.
