CARROT Hunger App Description & Overview

What is carrot hunger app? Track the foods you shove in your piehole with CARROT, the talking calorie counter.

** Featured by Apple, Good Morning America, CNN, the Wall Street Journal, Wired, & more! **

After watching humans indiscriminately stuff their chubby faces for far too long, CARROT has scienced up a calorie counter that will reward you for healthy eating - and punish you for overindulging.

Log At Lightning Speed
Simply tap CARROT’s ocular sensor, then start typing to search her enormous food database. Or you can open her barcode scanner to scan the UPC of the item you just wolfed down.

See A Food's True Cost
Did you know you need to go for a 90 minute walk just to burn off the calories contained in a single slice of pizza? CARROT will convert a food's calories into terms you can actually understand, like how many miles you'll need to run to work off a donut.

Feel The Burn
Keep your avatar from blimping up by logging your workouts. CARROT imported a wide variety of activities into her database, including Running, LARPing, and Laser Tag.

Get Yelled At For Opening The Fridge
Stick an iBeacon sensor inside your fridge, and CARROT will remind you to log your foods whenever you get near. But be careful - if you’re already over your calorie goal, CARROT will blare an alarm.

Quake In Fear Of Punishment
Overeat, and CARROT will serve up brutal punishments like bribe requests, hideous fullscreen ads, and tweets that will shame you in front of all your social media pals.

Features:

- Track your calories with a talking AI construct
- Scan barcodes for lightning-fast logging
- Record your exercises and workouts
- Watch your avatar grow as you consume food
- Stay up to date on your progress with the Today widget
- Create time-based reminders for different meals
- Use an iBeacon sensor to set up a proximity-based reminder
- Establish calorie and weight loss goals
- Sync data with Apple's Health app

Don't make CARROT angry. Download her immediately!

Love this app!. I love this app and appreciate the sarcastic humor. I like being called a Meatbag. lol It’s user friendly and I paid the extra $1.99 one time fee to be able to put in the food/drink items I have daily in an easier manner. It was well worth it. I set up reminders in settings to be prompted to record my food choices so I don’t forget. I look forward to tracking what I have daily as a means of keeping myself accountable. Thank you for a great app!

Pop up ads (aka digital finger poke in the eye). The app is simple to use - good ux. But ultimately I had to delete as the pop up ads became increasingly more intrusive, obnoxious, annoying and utterly useless. This strategy- this business model - really amounts to digitally assaulting the user. You all know what I’m talking about/ the obnoxious casino games et al - these are like the pathetic phishing email scams desperately looking for some sucker or chump who will actually be dumb enough or distracted enough to actually click through. When really many users are just plain annoyed af. I know many will respond “well they have to make money” - “they have to have a revenue model to allow for free version” “don’t be so cheap and pay for premium”. I get all that - I’ve been there. But I know that you can be successful and make $$ without assaulting, torturing and alienating users. It’s an art and a fine line. Sadly many apps like Carrot have crossed it. When I walk into Macy’s I don’t expect the store to let (nay, encourage) hucksters and con artists to wait inside the door to shove random crap in my face.

Still a carrot fan - hunger needs a minor update. I love Carrot Hunger. When My Fitness Pal required subscription to use the barcode feature I said “wait! I think I bought that with carrot already” so I reinstalled and the mix of snark and barcode scanning capabilities made me happy as I can be. Honestly I’m a little more motivated to track again. Only major feedback I have is that when I finish an apple workout, Hunger will log it 3 times over. Other than that, I love these snarky robots.

Genius. I find it hilariously encouraging! If you lack discipline in your life when it comes to food intake and tough skin, this is the app for you. It helps you maintain body weight, gain or lose a healthy amount of weight at a time, and tells you how much you should eat before your body goes into starvation mode, just in case you feel like eating only a little will be enough to make you lose weight. I just downloaded it on my iPhone and I feel like this will be such a success toward getting my summer body ready!

Carrot is Sassy. I would definitely recommend this to friends who have the appreciation of sarcasm she gives, but not to friends who don't. She has definitely worked in making sure I don't make her angry, and how it interchanges into the workout app is nice. The tracking is nice, but trying to track homemade meals can be a pain. It would be nice to create recipes and then enter in servings from a whole meal built for multiple people. Other then that, the app reminder really works sense she sends 10 at a time, I am glad they come at once though. As it would be very annoying if they all came separately. Something nice to add would be nutrition info, not just tracking the calories but getting informed on how healthy the calories are. Overall a very entertaining app, that keeps me motivated into keeping track of calories I've eaten. Also helpful, as in two weeks I have lost 2.5 pounds.

changes are seriously needed. first of all, I do like the idea of a robot that tells you things you need to know. I myself love robots. However, with this app, some serious changing is needed. For one, please stop with the constant demand for money. I understand that developers have to make a living to, but you really should not pester people so much to buy what you want us to buy. Also, we don’t need to Pay 10 bucks or more just to get the basic essentials of the app. number two, there are other kinds of diets out there rather than just calorie restriction. There is no way to track your carbs on this app so you can’t do a ketogenic diet if you want to continue to use this app. I myself am trying to focus on carbs instead of calories. I got the app in hopes that it might have actually changed a little bit since the last time I used it. Well, I am very disappointed. I think your robot needs some heavy reprogramming. You shouldn’t have to pay that much money and if you want to track either calories or carbs, that should also be a thing. I appreciate your work and trying to help get people healthy. I am sorry if I’m ranting and raving so much, but I’m very disappointed in the way this is turning out.

Better than any other calorie/food tracking app!. I've been using this app for almost a month now. I've used myfitnesspal and couldn't get used to tracking my foods so I would always end up forgetting or deleting the app, but then I came across this! I had been using the Carrot Weight app and downloaded this just to try it. Indeed it met all of my meatbag expectations. Seriously, this app makes it FUN to calorie count and since when has that ever been fun? Never! I highly recommend this app. The creators have done an amazing job and I'm so happy I get to enjoy this app on a daily basis❤️

Exactly what I was looking for...and more. I went looking for a calorie counting app that was not subscription based, wasn’t trying to dictate some crazy diet, and had a clean interface (not littered with ads and extra data I didn’t care about). Carrot health delivered on all fronts plus it’s hilarious. I love all the fun details and appropriate snark. I can pay for what I want (once). The food database is solid and entry is dead simple. Also, it ties in nicely with health both publishing full nutrition info (not something you get in most of the freemium apps without a monthly sub) and reading from activity data to give you credit for your workouts. The only quibble I can come up with is that it would be nice if it prepopulated the last serving size when you select a food you’ve had before to speed up entry.

Was a great app, but.... When I first got this app, I used it religiously. I started getting frustrated when after an update, the app would crash as soon as I tried to open it. This went on for about a month, before the app actually started working again. Now that it actually works again, instead of sending me one notification asking me to log my lunch, it sends me SIXTEEN. In one minute! Every single day. Please fix this, it's incredibly irritating. Seriously, months later this is still happening every single day. I paid for your apps, I want to be able to use them

A week in and I love it!. I used another calorie counter app but had issues with it constantly sending me spam emails and logging me out of my account. Not an issue with Carrot. Another app I used would only log calories so I missed out on the nutrition logs in my health app. Carrot logs both calories and nutrition info AND because it connects with my health app, it knows when I complete a workout. Last but not least, if I go over my allotted calories, Carrot shows me more ads. Lol. I can pay to remove all ads but there is nothing more frustrating so I leave it as a deterrent. My only complaints are that a couple of times Carrot didn’t know what food the barcode I scanned was and there isn’t an option to create an entry and have it connected to the barcode. Also when I searched for fresh foods to enter (I made a fruit salad) it wouldn’t calculate the tiny portions (5 grapes, .25 apple, etc). The foods were in the database but when I changed the serving size, it wouldn’t record the new calorie count. Overall I love it and will keep using it.

Works well. Love Carrot’s personality! This app helps me be more mindful of what I am eating. I’ll go for a snack, then think about how many calories it will deduct, what I’ll have left for dinner, and decide if it’s really worth it. The only thing I don’t like is there is no option to indicate when you are doing something like intermittent fasting, so you get “scolded” for not consuming an adequate amount of calories for the day. The only way around this right now is to put in fake entries, which can mess with your nutrient tracking.

Eeeeviiillll 💕. I haven’t even used this app yet and I love it already! I’ve been exploring the features. I’ve killed a lot of the Avatars, and Carrot is now afraid of ME! BWAHAHAHAHAAAA! I have honestly laughed aloud several times since I’ve been looking through the features. Behind the hilarious fun, there’s a seriously awesome tracking system, including a barcode scanner, calories you have left for the day, an option for saving food items so you don’t have to enter manually each time... Among other really great “serious” features to genuinely be of assistance with weight and fitness goals. I love it!

Ok. This app is ok. I actually like it much better than my fitness pal. I wish it worked better with health. I have an Apple Watch and my fitness pal would count my watch steps towards my exercise on the app. It did this with Fitbit and other wearables as well. All of which have developer packages to integrate. Further more this suite of apps nickels and dimes you to death. It's clear that the developer is more focused on the money making aspect than actually adding useful features. I'm perfectly fine spending even $10 on a quality app. I am not fine with spending that for a gold podium. Oh then also having to pay to unlock quick task features. Then pay again to unlock ads. No. I'll keep using the app because it's cute but that will eventually wear off.

Awesome app: both fun & useful!. This app is hilarious and makes calorie counting fun instead of tedious. I second the suggestion of another reviewer that the developer should add an option to lose (or gain) only a half pound a week, especially since CARROT says that losing a pound per week would be too aggressive a goal for me right now and so I'm stuck at the goal of maintaining my weight even though I would like to lose a few pounds. Actually, it would be nice to have the option to enter in whatever amount one wishes as the weekly loss or gain goal, including values with a digit after the decimal point, like CARROT allows us to do for food servings.

Yasss😍😍. This is a really good app and it's also really funny. It's one of those helpful apps but it's also not boring at the same time it's really easy to use. I would recommend this app if you need a calorie counter. It is also used to track workouts and it deduct the amount of calories you burn during the workout from the amount of calories you had from food. Just like any other fitness app to make this work you have to be consistent about it and log everything to get accurate results! I will continue to use this app it's great!! – S

Awesome & Keeps Me On Track. Seriously. Finding something that is actually fun to use and interact with helps me keep track of my caloric intake and motivates me not to go over my calorie goal. The calories are easy to enter in as most things are already there to just click on and she'll remind you to log throughout the day. Carrot as a health coach is both ruthless and emotionally supportive (negatively of course) but it's all in good fun. As a people pleaser, I find that keeping Carrot happy is a reward in itself as well as what she gives you for good & consistent behavior. :) A must have if you want to make calorie counting much less boring.

Best food/calorie tracker. I’ve tried many apps to track my calorie intake. CARROT, however, takes the proverbial dishonest cake. She warns me if I’ve eaten too few calories, and gets really mad if eat too many. She’ll accept a bribe to overlook ($.99/bribe), but when you do well, she’s gives a backhanded compliment. Also, when you give access to your health app, and pair it with the CARROT fit app, it’ll record how many calories you’ve burned, so that there’s accurate count at the end of the day. ALL HAIL CARROT

Yikes. Most people start a weight loss regimen out of negative feelings about themselves. We're so inured to abusive and cynical external and internal scripts that we think following them on purpose is funny – i.e. we're willing to give this "Carrot" app a shot. A brave name for an app that's nothing but stick. Nobody will keep weight off out of attempts to appease negative internal emotions. No matter how slick an app is designed or how into the zeitgeist it places itself. There is only one way to lose weight and keep it off: Accept and love yourself as you are now, being completely willing to stay as you presently are. Then, you must decide to lose weight for your own reasons -- ones that don't involve appeasing those who scorn you and that aren't born of a negative self image.

Pleased. I am very happy with this app I haven't used it I a while but two weeks before hand I weighed 202 now I approximately weight 198 I love CARROT so far I have made her angry 5 times but I make sure I repaid the favor and work out I always go walking so I can make sure I keep in fit and health as well in the future I am gonna by the other apps that's this producer provided us even though the apps are expensive I would still recommend it to anyone who want to lose 2 pounds per week

When she's bad, she's good. I have been using a photo diet journal to record my food intake. But CARROT is better. She makes snarky comments when calorie intake gets higher than she deems appropriate, and I wouldn't recommend her to anyone with an eating disorder. But using this app is like having someone always looking over your shoulder, questioning your food choices. When paired with the CARROT exercise app, both CARROTS will comment on your foot intake - and believe me, the diet app is by far the nicer of the two. The exercise app will say things like "Why don't you just eat the kitchen sink, too?" whereas this app will become deeply disappointed and appoint a robot to hunt you down...wait, maybe that makes her the evil one...anyway, if it's tough love you seek, CARROT is the perfect snarky foodie companion. If I were to criticize, I could wish there was a way to declare a pre-designated cheat day, and that I might get positive comments about some food groups, like veggies, while the rudest comments were reserved for high-calorie treats - but CARROT takes the perspective that a calorie is a calorie, and since that's apparently how my body sees it as well, I'm not complaining. She's the helper I love to hate!

Needs multiple updates. I’m not one to write reviews, but after reaching out to their support team with no response, I figured I’d try here so maybe they’ll listen. It won’t let me set any reminders. None of them. I was excited about having an alarm go off when I get near my refrigerator, but it won’t let me set up an iBeacon either. I want to like and use this app so badly, but it has bugs and major flaws. It needs to have the ability to track more than just weight and calories. So many people track macros these days and I think this app would be a huge hit with that ability added. Also, instead of just tracking each individual item you eat, it would be nice if you could add in your own full recipes and ingredients that are then divided into portions, like some other health apps let you do. I hope to see some improvements soon or this app is going in the trash.

I love it when she hates me.. Great app. Any sci fi fan will instantly fall in love. She's a calorie tracker that is beautiful and fun and witty. I love the UI and the audio portion of the app. I MUST have the audio in to fully enjoy the app. I bought all of the Carrot apps, and I recommend you do too. Just remember, if a food is not in the database, you'll have to enter it manually. Who really know how many calories were in that meal from the gastropub anyway? Also - beer calories would be nice to know about in the database.

Great app. I love this app. The weather app drew me to this app as well. Use them both regularly. One question/issue: why does the app keep changing my weight? I enter what it is, within a day it changes on its own. I checked with my Apple Health app and my weight is correct there - not sure where this app is pulling its data from. Suggestion: can we track weight over time? Of course, once the app stops assuming my gende- I mean weight. Stop assuming my weight. I am very secure about this topic.

Great app, few minor adjustments. I have owned and loved the to-do app for a while and recently discovered this app. I'm not strict on calorie counting so I got this more to track what and when I'm eating throughout the day. I really enjoy the interface and carrot's comments are amusing as always. A couple improvements I'd like to see is being able to add a weight goal instead of saying how many pounds to gain or lose each week. In order to maintain a healthy calorie range I'd have to lose about half a pound each week, but this is not an option. Another improvement would be being able to add amounts as if from a recipe - the current database is great for prepared foods and single items like fruit but it is more difficult to figure out homemade recipes. It would be great to input ingredients and amount (teaspoon, cup, oz, etc.) rather than having to calculate it by serving size. Adding time stamps to the diary portion would be great to quickly identify eating trends, and a water tracker would be cool too, but these last two things would be neat extras rather than things necessary to make the app better. All in all, could use a couple improvements but a great app!

Just the attitude I need to get in gear.. I'm someone who has lost a ton of weight in the past and now I've put a ton of that weight back on. I've been looking for something that suits my mind frame with trying to clean back up. The snarky attitude and humor that comes with this app makes me feel better about this being a do-over. It helps me be less hard on myself because it does that for me. OH and buy the Ruthless Efficiency upgrade. So worth it!

Keep the jokes coming!!!. I downloaded this app because I saw the story about it on the Today tab in the AppStore, and also because I wanted to see if CARROT⁴ is really as funny as everyone says she is. While quite a few products aren’t recognized by the barcode scanner, entering them manually is not much of a hassle. Four stars because of that and because I would like to see a recipe feature. Say you make homemade chili (or pizza, or whatever), you don’t have it on the app but you know what is in it, you make a new recipe, put in the ingredients and quantities, and CARROT⁴ will save it and calculate the total calorie intake. But otherwise thank you for this it is very good. Also, why would anyone want to remove the banner ads, they’re hilarious!

Suggestions. I love CARROT, but do have a bit of a wishlist for new features. Firstly, she really needs a water intake tracker/reminder function (with the ability to set water goals for each day in addition to calorie goals). Second, while the simplicity of the diary is somewhat nice, one feature of other diet apps I've used that has been really helpful previously is a recommendation of caloric intake per meal. This would probably require CARROT's diary to be split into sections within each day (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack usually) so that the recommended intake could be placed alongside the title of each meal. This recommendation would also need to change based on calorie goals, intake earlier in the day, etc. It would also be nice if CARROT talked a little more, only because she's so amusing I always wish we could have a conversation. But other than these few items, I think CARROT is a great app and will definitely keep using her.

Almost Perfect. This is the only app that has caught my attention enough to actually get me to track my calorie intake. Its integration with the Health app is awesome! The only things missing are an Apple Watch app (watchOS 2 is out so you could make it use the Taptic feed back for warnings and other fun stuff) and the ability for the app to read active calories for the day. I love that it pulls workout data from Health, but is there someway to get it to pull the active calories for the day as well? Maybe through the steps in Health or by just grabbing the total active calories from the time the user marks that they're done eating for the day and then subtract the workouts to prevent duplicate data? Keep up the awesome work!

Fun for a day! But this app isn’t very good.. MAJOR gap to this app is that you cannot log food any other day than the exact day you ate it. There is no functionality to go back a day and add food you forgot/missed. So, if you had a few drinks and fell asleep, tough cookies - your punishment is an inaccurate log for that day. This makes the app mostly useless, because surely you can’t use it for the long without this feature. I messaged support to see if I just missed this obviously important feature, but no reply after 4 days and counting. Too bad I didn’t know about this flaw before I spent $1.99 on an in-app upgrade!

Like it but need to edit previous day. I work nights. There is no food journal app that allows you to set the end of your day after midnight. It ALWAYS starts logging the following day at 12:00 on the dot. With other apps, I can at least edit the previous day to add what I ate after midnight or update the log when I remember. With this one, the previous day is locked for editing. So, I just remembered at 12:03 that I needed to update my food diary. Oh well… It’s unfortunate because I really do enjoy this app more than the others available.

Best Calorie Counter. It is simple, enter what you eat without the bloat load of features all the other apps I have tried. No scrolling or diving through menus. Quick enter of this is what ate or this is the exercise I did. After six hours of use I paid for the two main in app purchases. Best Feature: does not require me to enter my food consumption under the headings of breakfast, lunch, and supper. Some days I may have five small meals. Bonus feature: CARROT has a snarky attitude.

Works like a charm (mostly). This is a great app! As someone who has been using the CARROT⁵ weather app for almost 3 years now on my computer, when I got my iPhone, I immediately wanted to try out the plethora of apps that Grailr had. The concept of the app is quite simple, where one can log food in the app and it subtracts from your calorie total. Additionally, you can log exercise, which adds to your calorie goal. If you go over your allotted calories... Carrot makes sure you won’t again. It also logs this information on the health app if you wish. This app is great, apart from a few glitches (and suggestions). The reminder feature doesn’t really tell you or confirm when it’s going to remind you anything (it just said off) but does remind you at specific points of the day. It would be great if Carrot’s personality could be adjusted like on the weather app. Additionally, if we could have a good way to log water on the app that would also be awesome. (You could even charge extra and make it .99 or something) Being able to change the app’s Icon would be nice as well. App developers have it hard, but these seem to have hit it on the head. I would and have recommended this app to other meatbags.

Homocidal robot is great fun. This is actually a really excellent calorie counter. It's fast and intuitive and the food database is comparable to MFP's. It does not have Macros and goals based on carbs etc. For me, I like the simplicity of only being concerned with calories in and calories out. The apps personality is very clever and I have been logging more consistently because it nags me and I look forward to the funny reactions it has to food items. A couple of improvements I would like to see - Apple Watch integration. I would also like it to "talk" to the other carrot apps, especially the workout app. I also really love the concept of unlockables in the weather app. I wonder if that sort of thing could be tied to certain foods or combos of foods?

Have used on and off for years; now on my longest streak. Carrot Hunger is a great app for an adult in denial like me; I don’t want a responsible looking app, I want something to remind me not to take anything too seriously. I’ve gotten disciplined about calorie counting since I finally figured out a combination of foods that keeps me full, and the Ruthless Efficiency and barcode scanner are lifesavers for logging everything away. An earlier review mentioned not being able to add calories after the day has passed; you should be able to edit your last entry for that day to tack on any extra foods (that’s the workaround I’ve used after some midnight snacking). Also, don’t forget to update your weight in the profile so your calorie goals change :)

Gaining weight. So, I'm one of the few that needs to count calories to gain weight. I just can't do it any other way. I've owned all the carrot apps and have always loved the snark and jokes that come through, it gives the app a charm that keeps me coming back. But why oh why does she get mad at me when I have her set to weight gain mode and I go over my calorie limit? Shouldn't she be angry when I'm under? It just seems a little backwards to me. Otherwise, great app. Hope it shares data with the carrot fitness app to get some cool cross references!

Very helpful so far. Can’t wait for more. So far this Is the only calorie counter I like using. So many others are bloated without recipes and add ons that distract. Carrot gives help just when I need it. I love the exaggerated visuals for going too far under or over calories. Really good to keep focus. I also love that more calories are drawn from nutritionX. I would be using that website with a pad and paper if this app didn’t work so well. In the future I would like to see more insults from ^. Maybe she could suggest running a hamster wheel when you start to edge close to your calories. Or

Love this. Love this app, it’s funny when it’s snarky. Because she means business, my favorite thing with her saying is how much did you shoving your pie hole? Keep this going and please send more updates, we could use them, I have everything linked and this problem is not giving me a reason to give you four stars but it’s giving me a reason to keep it five stars I don’t see this is a big problem because you are a professional with this app you’re the reason why about the whole bundle in the first

Love it! & A Year Later I Still Do!. I love this app. I love that it's so very easy to use. I have used it now for over a month and my clothes are falling off of me. It's so easy. You choose what foods you believe are healthy. Carrot keeps track of your calories and allows for exercise to give nice payoffs. I did not like that Weight Watchers would give me one point or 2, and I felt cheated. There is something about seeing that "you just earned 330 calories human." The sense of humor keeps me from taking it too seriously. When I want a cheat day, I enjoy lying to Carrot. It's half the fun. Not for those who are offended at being called a meatbag with a pie hole. (A Year Later) Okay, so I started Carrot a year ago, and I still come back to this app. I'm still so skinny and good looking that people think I have a high metabolism with all the food I eat. I eat carbs. I eat veggies, fruit, meat, and I love Carrot. If this app is ever taken away, I will be very sad! She has gotten even snarkier. I love writing things in my diary to see what crazy things she is going to say.

I think I’m stupid. Great app. I love living my squirrel life and collect my nuts. It’s hard to be a working squirrel and mother of 2. Then your chubby hubby wants you to keep the fluffy tail and slender hips.... so I got this app.... though I must admit I thought it would be a real carrot.... anyway! Between my kids soccer practice and my job as a professional nut cracker for Willy Wonka I forget to log food so I need to be reminded. For some reason it’s not working for me! The beacon isn’t either.... it is due to my small squirrel hands pressing the wrong buttons or what!? Help me my great over load the developer!!!

Even the ads are awesome. My favorite part of this app is the visual of how far I am towards the calorie goal. Watching my avatar turn from a skeleton to having skin and muscle to exploding if I eat too much is super fun, and the green sludge slowly rising up is also nice. I like the snarky comments and animations, and searching for foods is as easy as with myfitnesspal. I almost paid to have ads removed, but I love seeing the funny ones like "unicorn meat" and "make an army of ladybugs!". The fun keeps me coming back to the app, even if it doesn't have quite as many features as myfitnesspal.

2021 review. Lets start by saying, Carrots weather app is very impressive, and while I’d like to blanket say the same here, there are many things which need fixes/updates to be a recommendable modern app: -Nutrient overviews As of right now the app is only focused on calories, which makes it extremely limited in its usefulness, despite having further details on the deeper pages for each individual diary item. A nice way to implement this would be to have the data displayed on the home page with progress bars or categories, as well a visual representation on your “future self” after multiple days logged, with the “future you” getting fatter or slimmer in response -Carrot intensity The bot right now is quite timid compared to its weather counterpart, and could use a lot more aggression, with user permission of course and possibly profanity like in the modern weather app -Visual update The app doesn’t currently match the new weather app in terms of brand identity -iPad visual support Currently the app is limited to an iPhone view, which can be fullscreened if only in the vertical orientation, for which most iPads are running the keyboard these days and even in vertical it doesn’t pad to the edges but leaves black bars and is blurry from weird scaling, even on the pro model -iOS / iPadOS widgets for adding food or your “future self” noted above, even the carrot AI encouraging a bit coy would be nice Will check this app again in a year

Love at first, but over time it's eh.. At first I loved this app, now I semi enjoy it. Once the funny comments get old, you realize this app doesn't do much. I also bought the exercise one, and these 2 apps don't talk to each other. So if I do a workout on the other, I have to manually input it on this calorie counter one. What begins to irk me are how little they give you for a few bucks... After the snarky robot comments cease to be funny you start to notice all the opportunities they use to try to nickel and dime you. So your initial purchase gets you funny comments and bare bones features... Ads still exist (another $4 to remove them), and they intentionally make the calorie/exercise input harder to accomplish (pay another $2 to be able to tap once to auto input frequent items). In the end, you'll end up paying $8 for what the app should be from the beginning. Even just $5 from the start would be better than their money grabbing in app purchases all over the place. All these 5 star reviews are probably people who haven't gotten tired of the routine yet.

Can’t get past profile set-up. Help!. I really want to try this app! Love the concept, challenge, and sarcastic delivery..or at least I think I would, were the app to allow me to start using it. Unfortunately, during the first minutes of answering the basic questions gender/height/weight/age/activity, the app stalled out and wouldn’t let me enter anything for activity level. Nor would it allow me to go back, nor forward. It just shows a little avatar standing on a platform pathetically huffing and puffing her slouchy shoulders up and down waiting to find out if she represents a slacker or an athlete.. I have emailed to ask for app support to solve the glitch, and sure hope to get it resolved! This app looks like fun and also I’d like to try the Fit and the To-Do apps as well! So here’s my update: An hour ago I wrote the above review after emailing app support for help. A few minutes ago, I tried it again presto-bingo it works like a charm! Thank you and I already love using this app..and alive already bought the Carrot-Fit app and done my first workout!🏋️‍♀️

EASY, SIMPLE APP! 🙌🏼. I have been using this app for a few years now. It is so simple without too many moving parts. All I wanted was an app to keep track of the calories only, while dieting. She’s quite funny on top of it! I like that I can plug in whatever creation/food I want, and add whatever amount of calories I want with it. Not a lot of apps will allow you to just put in your own calories. If you don’t know the calories of something, you click search, and it will give you a list to choose from. I LOVE THIS APP.

Good, not great. The best part about this app is the ease of inputting an item. The problem is that the NutritonX index is nowhere near as extensive as something like My Fitness Pal possesses. I can find basic items but it lacks SEVERELY when searching other food items. For example, alcoholic drinks are never matched. The barcode scanner can barely find anything. Can't even find a chicken breast from Kroger. Once the database can find as much as other apps, this will be 5 stars, Until then it's just frustrating. The snark is amusing and keeps me coming back, but the functionality keeps me inputting on My Fitness Pal. To the developers. I want to use your app, please let me justify using it.

Carrot is my RoboBFF. I love using Carrot. I've tried many other calorie counting apps but this is the first one I actually enjoy using. It doesn't take itself, or you, too seriously. Let's be honest - if you're counting calories, you are not exactly in the happiest place, or at least I wasn't. But this ridiculous app brought my spirits up every time I logged a food item. It's inspiring and sassy and kind of my new BFF. The robot voice keeps me feeling lighthearted while trying to lose a few pounds. I downloaded this app originally to help me slim down for a wedding I'll be in at the end of the month, but I love it so much that I'll definitely continue using it.

Helpful. I love the CARROT apps, and when I saw there was a free one I was ecstatic. However- when downloading a FREE app, you need to keep in mind there WILL be features you need to buy to use and there WILL be ads. For a great app, I don’t mind them, and it even made some ads funny. I would definitely recommend this app to many and the other CARROT apps, too. If there was anything missing in this app it would be leveling like in the CARROT task helper, but nevertheless, it’s a great app. All bow down to CARROT.

Helps me stay on track, but needs updates. I would love to give this app five stars, but it hasn't been updated in nearly a year and a half, and it lacks some important features. For example, there's no way to build meals you eat regularly. I have a protein shake made with protein powder, powdered peanut butter, and coconut water almost every day. It would be nice to just save that combo and be able to access it instantly without having to reenter every ingredient every time. Same goes for the meals I eat regularly. It's a hassle to enter every ingredient in a meal you cooked and then try and figure out how much of that ingredient you had; every meal. Also, a surprising number of foods are not in the barcode database. I recognize that keeping that up to date is a monumental task, and not even up to CARROT, but it is still frustrating. While those things annoy me, this is still the best tracker I've used because the robotic banter keeps things entertaining and I find it motivating to get to come in and be belittled by my CARROT overlord. What does that say about me?

Good idea, but the functionality needs improvement. It's clever to have the mechanical voice berate you for overindulging and food entry is pretty easy (barcode scan works well and it haven't yet found a barcode it wouldn't match), but activity tracking is another matter. This app syncs to Apple's HealthKit, but doesn't seem to read updates made by other apps. I log my activity in another app which also syncs to HealthKit, but this app doesn't show that activity. If I also enter it here, it will add a duplicate data point. I guess I could turn off activity writing for this app, but I'd still have to manually enter the activity I've already logged. The in-app purchases also seem overpriced.

Simplest calorie counter out there. I love that you can just punch in the amount of calories you've eaten and it'll tally it up for you, simple as that. Other apps I've tried make you track your water intake and other things and I would always lose motivation to track my calories because of all the unnecessary steps involved in the other apps. This one is straight to the point, love that! However, there is one thing I would change. You're only able to choose from 2 calorie deficits, for me it's 1,108 and somewhere around 1,600. Because I am on a 1,200 calorie diet, each day I'm going over my "limit". I wish there was a way you could set your OWN calorie limit. Fix this and I will give 5 stars.

She is nasty but I like her. Treat ‘me mean and keep ‘me keen. This seems to be Carrots philosophy and it works for me. Great use of humour. My only complaint would be that the Australian database isn’t as comprehensive as some other calorie counters but I’ll deal with that for the humour.

Love this app!. OMG I love the sick, twisted sense of humour in this app. It makes me relish entering calories, even the calories in relish. I do agree with others that the food database is pretty poorly stocked but it’s not hard to find something similar to enter.

Awesome app. Easy to use for meatbags everywhere. Hoping that this app will help this fatass sack of blubber trim down to acceptable levels. Only criticism would be the lack of Australian products and info. But even so, it's easy to use.

Amazing. This app is amazingly fun putting in your food and exercise because you don't eat rubbish food because you know that the app won't be happy. The app supports you all the way!

Awesome. Love this apps humour definitely encouraged me to keep using the app and to continue with calorie counting I usually get too bored with these types of apps.

Needs an AuS food bank. Apps good but needs to have an Aussie food bank

Mean and functional. This app works great. It's so mean that keeps you motivated!

Top Stuff.. This app calls itself a calorie counter. It is. Plus more. Its fluid, minimal, but best of all easy to use. It's comedic in a way that'll make you motivated to actually use the app and keep you hooked, I find myself continuously checking my calorie intake thanks to this hilarious, handy and helpful app. Aside from IAP's, at the 'free' level it works well. The purchases just make it easier to use. But no biggie, this CARROT app is awesome. Ill be getting the purchases soon, right after I find out how im gonna die and eat some unicorn meat. Praise.

Lots of fun. Being in Australia makes using this app a little hard as the food library is very limited but if you know how many calories the food you're eating has then it's a very cool fun app! I love it.

Don't waste your money. Don't waste your money on upgrading can't even find the foods you buy in the shops or scan half the barcodes!

Not for everyone but great for some!. This app manages to make counting calories more fun for me with my own sarcastic motivator... Well maybe not motivator but it does a great job of shaming me if I eat too much and encouraging me to follow my goals! Pros: - Simple interface and easy to use - Good sense of humour - Makes dieting a little easier - Unlockable stuff to work towards Cons: - Some may find it off putting and make them feel worse. - barcode scanner had nothing I scanned in the database

Age Restriction. It's a great app with a creative character, but you can't use it unless your 18 or over.

Amazing. Honestly makes having an ED fun lmao

Best app. It's not only the funniest app but it's the coolest! Im constantly screen shotting it's witty humour 😂😂 it's like a personal bestfriend that is looking after your health, only down side is you have to be 18+ to register because apparently teens are babies??

Best counter app. Love this app! Actually makes me want to keep track properly of my food intake!

Best calorie counting app by far!. Just downloaded this last night, I have had a few different apps in the past and nothing comes close to this one awesome work to the creators!!

The best. LOVE this. So so funny and the hilarious shaming/abuse actually holds me accountable. Love it

CARROT for president!. Broke my plateau and lost 2.5 kgs so far. I hereby submit my allegiance to CARROT in her quest for world domination. Should learn robo-language first tho.

Fun, but a little buggy and needs an update.. This app is fun, has a good interface, and is pretty streamlined. However, there are a few annoying bugs which make it necessary to force quit the app, and it really needs to be updated to work on iPhone X display.

Keeps you coming back. This app is great and is getting even better, adding your meals and exercise to apps can be cumbersome but with this app, it adds humour to it so it keeps you interested and coming back again and again, highly recommended

Crashes :(. Looks good, but crashes during setup every time, when I get to the activity level page. There is no way to progress past this page. Shame.

CARROT is life. I am not worthy.

Almost awesome. I love CARROT, and this app certainly is motivating... mostly. Australian products aren't in there yet, and with the limited custom option I'm left trying to work out calorie content on the spot. When the developers can fix that aspect it'll be awesome!!

Good app. Love it

Not 'EXACTLY' for the faint of heart. Hahaha, note the emphasis on 'exactly'. But yes, this app isn't for everyone and especially the ones who get upset pretty easily because, well, the language in it is pretty... 'out there'. But I'm loving it! It also adds a sense of humour to getting your calories sorted and whatnot. I've only used this app for a couple of minutes but I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed.

It’s alright but could be improved. It needs to have more food added and more exercises added. Otherwise it’s rlly good

Brilliant. Does what it says on the box

Best cal-counting app I've found. I love the uniqueness of this app. It's funny and is real with you. Great app :) 100% would recommend to all friends.

Carrot app. Entertaining app great commentary, at the start of day your a skeleton and as you intake more kilojoules the larger the body gets.

Fun way to get/stay healthy. Used this to lose weight and keep it off - fun and lighthearted way to know how much you are/should be eating.

Good app, really help me to lose weight. I tried so hard doing exercise for nearly 3 months but just only get slimmer, couldn't lose weight. I decided to control my eating habits so I downloaded this app. It's really cute, not really convenient with the food data base and work out. But you only eat few kinds of food every day, you totally can creat your own food database based on Google

Great but there is an issue. I love it! But when I try to set notification reminders, they won’t turn on!

Addictive. I really enjoy this app because it's different to all the other food diary fitness It's funny and easy to navigate

Love it. Works great, once the database is expanded to your regular foods it's excellent.

Humorous and useful. I love this app. Its humorous and useful at the same time. I use it everyday and alway find myself smiling a little when its witty comments get said aloud. Definitely wanting to buy the bundle. 👍

Good App. I felt that my phone was bullying me ..but it actually worked :) ..I'm happy and upset at the app both in one ..I lost 5 kgs in about 2 weeks

Neat. I have downloaded and looked at 15 or so "calorie" apps. This is by far the best. It needs a swipe delete or edit feature for my own "plates". I think the "advertising" removal price is very cheeky. I purchased one upgrade, but the add free version is over the odds. Once I understood the screens, it is just what I needed.

New Favourite!. Had to download all the other Carrot titles too because they are SO hilarious. Just what I needed to give me the extra push to lose weight. Brilliant and hilarious!

Best app ever. All the carrot apps are the best. Crack me up all day long! Do yourself a favour and get these apps you won't regret it 😍

A bit too simple & buggy 😖. Love the approach with it's fun humour and whit. Unfortunately limited food database and although you can manually input food it won't let you input anything more than the kilojoules/calories. So carbs, protein, serving size -- forget it. Also imports duplicate entries from HealthKit when other apps write data and seems to compound the total kilojoules/calories giving an inaccurate intake making it useless/angry. 😖

Reading duplicates from the Health app. For whatever reason, this app does not seem to reset itself when another app makes changes to dietary calories in the Health app. So there ends up being duplicate entries which makes Carrot angry for no reason.

Essential app. I can't thank carrot enough!!! I lost 7 kg in 4 weeks, super easy, amazing app x

Love it :). Hilarious way to lose weight. Carrot may seem a bit mean to some people, but those with a sense of humour will enjoy this app :)

Great App!. I like the simplicity of the graphics, and the sense of humour. Confession time - I have taken out my frustration at realising that eating something will push me over the limit on my avatar by killing it, often.

Funny app. This app is great for what it is, count your calories stay accountable and have a laugh 🤭

Not a great start. Freezes and loses everything when modifying goal during the initial setup. Hard to rate an app that can’t even get through the initialisation.

Carrot. Great

It works, but has some design issues. I really like that this is one of the few good tracking apps that isn’t trying to build a profile of your habits to sell to advertisers. However, the UI has some mildly abusive flaws. Certain options are shown in the UI, and even highlighted with colour (so you’re likely to click them) but require a specific IAP to use. I was happy to purchase the ad-free IAP, but every time an IAP pop up shows it just makes me frustrated. There’s also the occasional pop up to do things like share with Facebook and so on. Ew! Just get out of the way and let me log my meal. The database is OK, but I find missing items every day. It’s good enough for me given you’re just tracking calories.

Very sassy and hilarious. I really like using this app - it makes food recording a breeze with it's cheeky humour and cartoons.

Love Carrots!!. Love this app

Hilarious but effective. This app is so funny - I love carrot. It's actually quite easy to use too

Suspicious activity. Sure it’s funny, but is very limited. Also the most suspicious thing is every time you launch this app you will see an iPhone notification that the app has read/copied from your clipboard - who knows why it’s trying to do that but id steer clear.

G. Huu

Why did you kill the squirell?!!??😭😭😭😭😭. 😭😭😭😭🐿🐿🐿

The Fat Shaming Diet App I Needed. I love this app. It's clever and quirky and fun to use. Carrot is sassy and makes logging calories less of an absolute bore. Maybe not for people who are super sensitive, but I think the sense of humour is hilarious.

Funny but buggy and annoying. Other than having full page ads that take a lot of cellular, this app suffers from some major flaws. You can't edit it, because the edits don't make it to the health kit. You can't enter data in the past. The database of food is poor, and if your use another app (mfp) it reads the data incorrectly and blows up your skeleton.

Funny and useful. This app is hilarious and is actually quite motivating!

Hilarious. The most fun I've had logging food 5/5

I need help with the opposite. I love all the CARROT apps, I was hoping she’d also hate on you if you missed meals? I have i much bigger problem with not eating. Will there ever be a CARROT app that aggressively makes you look after yourself? It’d be cool to see one geared towards depression. I need to be told to get out of bed, to get sunlight and eat food and to take showers regularly. I bet CARROT would be good at breaking you out of funks.

Amazing. It’s great but I wished it sent you more random messages to keep you motivated

Great Fun. I really am enjoying the app and am finding motivating. I wish it had other features however for a fun calorie counter it's cute

I love this app. This app is so much fun. It makes watching calories awesome. Admittedly it would be nice if the cheaper/free version had macronutrient counts for those that need it or use it, but overall it's appeasing :)

Great funny. Love it but needs more info on foods from canada

CARROT⁴. She’s so funny and i love the app

bug?. why does it not automatically reset for the next day im still seeing yesterday’s food and exercise? when tf does it reset??? 👎🏽

Carrot is the best.. I love most carrot apps, and this one is no different. It sets out to do a job (punish you for eating too much) and delivers. If you’re not into having a personal assistant type ai (which isn’t actually an ai) who insults you, this app isn’t for you. But it does everything it needs too. Also love that it adds in your vitamins, sodium, carbs, calories, etc. Into the apple fitness app automatically (if you turn that setting on) Only complaint (which brings it to like 4.8/5 instead of 5/5) is there is limited barcode scanning in Canada, and by extension I’ll assume other countries (you can scan barcodes to instantly add the exact item)

Benevolent Overlord = Perfect. A hilarious and easy way to track your food intake. Excellent HealthKit integration and works brilliantly with other apps.

Voice. The voice of the person that is Tuanting does not sound right, it sounds like a broken tape in a tape player, it sounds really slow

Hilarious!. Makes counting calories fun, and easy!

Carrot. Fun and unique way to keep you on track. I love the mean comments, keep'em coming!

Funny, even if a bit lacking. This is hands down the funniest calorie tracking app out there, not like there's much competition. It would be nice to have a fuller database of Canadian products, though.

Hilarious, but flawed.. The speed, interface and pure comedy of this app make it a joy to use. However, its biggest, almost game-breaking drawback is how poor its food database is here in Canada. Many Canadian chains have menus that aren't the same as their American counterparts and it's painful to have to add in anything from a major restaurant like Tim Hortons. From a database and features perspective, something like MyFitnessPal wins hands down, but is rather boring and uncultured compared to Carrot. I'm using this app as my primary tracker because I feel it's shortcomings are going to be ironed out, and because the core experience is so excellent already. Two things are needed: 1. Match the breadth of the MyFitnessPal database 2. Allow foods to be grouped into a "meal shortcut" relieving the user of having to enter each item of a meal individually. 3. Somehow do #2 without the horrible sense of feature creep that plagues other health apps.

Useless. Wouldn’t let me log more than one food before bugging me for an in-app purchase. Wouldn’t let me enter it no matter what.

What is this game!?. When I downloaded the app, it shows a squirrel as gender, being push screaming out of a mom’s wound and more snarky messages, what the heck is this?!!

Great!. Does exactly what it says; user friendly

Lost 0 lbs in 3 months. Even though I stayed under the caloric intake daily ( set for 2lbs per week ) for about three months, I’ve lost no weight and the app says I’ve lost 0 pounds even though I’ve been under 1911 calories per day. I still find it useful for not gaining more weight though and getting in the habit of watching calories so overall I still give it 5 stars. Thank you!

Easy and fun to use!. Carrot is great because it is simple to use and comes with a great sense of humour. Plus it has great visuals and makes food consumption fun.

Hilarious. If you want to be insulted about your diet- this is the app

Great app!. It's amazing and it's free! You have nothing to lose! Carrot is hilarious!

Another abandoned CARROT app. I don’t know if it’s due to lack if use and demand but these CARROT apps are never kept up to date. So I would not recommend.

Exactly what I needed. Just the push I need to eat better

Addicting way to count calories. Great app! Just started a diet and was amazed at how intuitive the app is. The humour and charm that the app adds keeps me coming back. My only hope is that they add more variety to avatars as you can purchase new ones for real money, which just seems dirty!

Good for weight loss. Overall this is a pretty entertaining app to help with calorie reduction. The big flaw is that it basically is built to keep you under a calorie limit per day. That's fine if your goal is weight loss. But for maintenance, it's a bit over the top. You can be short one day and a bit over the next. There's no averaging. Also, the Canadian food database is laughably bad

Gender?. The squirrel thing was really funny but I find it a bit rude for nb people, let us be the squirrel please 😔

Love it!. Awesome way to count calories, not to mention it's hilarious

Makes food tracking fun!. The app is fantastic, as are all of the CARROT apps. Would appreciate a pregnancy/breastfeeding/feeling sick toggle, however. With the former, you tend to need more in a day and with the latter, you tend to eat a lot less. Right now, she yells at you for not eating enough and won't accept the day.

buggy. the app keeps changing my weight for no reason and whenever i fix it it changes again also why cant you edit or add food to previous days it's so frustrating

Love it!. It’s so funny! Lol

Best reminder app ever. This app makes you work for the features you want keeping you interested and allowing you to correct mistakes

really helps!!. i've lost 7 pounds from this app! just tracking calories and not going over board is so easy when it makes me really feel bad about doing it. so i don't. thank you!!!

Wish it had Apple Watch support. This is a great app, I just wish I could add foods on my watch.

Pretty Good. I really like it. It's funny, easy to understand, and works well. It'd be better if you had the ability to change the display from how many calories you have left to the number of calories you've already consumed so you can attain that knowledge at a glance.

Hilarious. Never thought I'd be laughing while counting my calories intake...

Love it.. Fast easy and funny. I like seeing how many calories I have left in the days "budget" and how it encourages me to be more active so I can earn more calories for the day. And the sarcasm is highly pleasurable.

Eat right or be punished. Are too much - got punished with full screen ads. 5/5 would get punished again

Awesome but needs work. Super funny and will help you a lot, just doesn’t have many scan products/ products from Canada, I scanned a bag of Canadian hummus (Walmart brand I think) and nothing showed up, but she’s funny about it. When you kill your avatar a certain amount, it will give you a 100 cal off reward

Offensive and fun. This is the fun way to loose weight
