Pocket Points: Student Rewards Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

They made changes (introduced huge glitches). Hey guys... what happened? The app used to work and be excellent, now it spontaneously says ‘you failed your goal’. I set my goal for 2 hr, set my phone face down and don’t touch it for 2 to 3 hours, come back and it says ‘you failed, better luck next time.’ Has happened about a dozen times... The old version of the app worked well! Guys... black is the new black. The wheel is the wheel. Sliced bread is sliced bread... Don’t make it complicated... When something works, you’re done, move-on, find another project... don’t mess it up! You are trying too hard to reinvent/improve this and now you have ruined it! Don’t be one of those companies that tinker with their product until it loses what made it work! If the fundamental/base feature is lost in your effort to improve it... you actually made it worse and possibly worthless! Please stop, turn around, go back to what worked... don’t screw this up.

Doesn’t load. For the past 4 updates, the entire app will not load. It won’t even pull up the loading screen. It just blank screens for 30 seconds then closes the app. None of the things you can buy with the points are anything special anyway. They are either not available in your area or are just coupons you can find online with a google search for companies that are far too expensive for the average college student to use anyway. While it’s a good concept that used to work fine, the new updates have made the app impossible to use and the lack of usable rewards have made it pointless.

Updated is trash. I would’ve given this five stars before but now it gets one star. The new update cheats you out of potential points with the fifty minute goal. I have two classes nearly three hours long and I don’t get rewarded for it like I would’ve before for having my phone locked for three hours consecutively because the fifty minute goal is so limiting in terms of points and you have to remember to reset it. I feel like the update was to appeal to businesses and in the end, capitalism, but the whole point is to help the student be less distracted so screw the update. I’m still going to use it because discounts are cool, but the new system doesn’t actually reward your actual effort anymore. If you haven’t gotten this app yet, I would reconsider and not do it, especially if you have longer classes or if you wouldn’t remember to reset it. Maybe try to find other ways for deals, and a lot of places gives you discounts right off the bat if they’re near your campus or if you have a student ID. It actually defeats the purpose because you’ll be distracted by the phone waiting for fifty minutes to pass rather than just locking it and forgetting it.

Ok, just not developed enough. This app is great! The concept is very helpful for students. I learned about this through a teacher who wanted us all to do it. I thought it was a great idea, because I have no problem with staying off my phone in class, and now I get rewarded for it. The problem is, once you earn a bunch of points, like I have, there is not enough places to spend it. I go to/use only one of all of these place (Moe’s), and I would definitely like to see that change. This game definitely targets stereotypical teenagers, because I haven’t even heard of half the stuff on there. In the end, they need to expand there quantity of stores by a bunch. If someone from development actually reads this, please try to add more free stuff and less discounts to things. Don’t add any more clothing stores. PLEASE!

Disappointed. I am very disappointed on this new update. I liked when we could just open the app and close it and get considered points without a set time to receive points. I think it’s super inconvenient because when I do set it; I would set it for the class but then class would get it early and so I would have to give up all the points. In addition, every time I do set, the application wouldn’t realize and I would check after hours of not using my phone and I wouldn’t be able to receive any points. That is super frustrating! However, what I do like is the driving setting as well as we can earn points being off campus too. I think if we could bring back those aspects it would make the app a lot better than it is now.

Needs improvement. I’ve been a frequent user of pocket points for the past few years and made a lot of use out of it. However, the new points earning system makes it extremely difficult to earn points now. Not only it’s gathering less points than before, when you set up the goal time, the app often refreshes and exits by itself, and when it happens the app indicates it as me exiting the app and therefore I end up losing the time I spent away from the phone. And there are no indications that this happened, so it takes me a while to realize I’ve lost all that time and points 🙄. This happened so many times now that theres no point and I’ve almost given up. If there’s any ways to fix this problem, please do, because otherwise it’s a great app.

Needs a lot of work. I downloaded this app hoping that it would help me stay off my phone in class to earn deals on the things they offer. I never really had a problem with my phone being distracting but I soon found that the app was very buggy. When I run the app off screen and on campus, it wouldn’t time me for the length that I’ve been off my phone. I would be off my phone for close to 3 hours and it would say that I had my screen off for less than a minute. I tried contacting the help center on the app and I wouldn’t receive any help for days, and when I did get a response, they would ask the same questions over and over again. I soon found that this app has become more trouble than its worth.

Pocket Points. This app could be better if there were more online merchandise options and more restaurant options. I do love that this app offers discounts on merchandise and food simply for not being on my phone! It’s a great motivational tool to keep me focused when I need to be productive. I also like that the points don’t expire. More points should be available when not on the phone while driving. Points should not be available if the person is on a school campus and uses the phone during class time.

Rewards make app not worth it for me. I love the overall concept of the app and was super thrilled about it first, but when I looked at the rewards section I no longer wanted it. The rewards are mostly just discounts for stores I have never even heard of and there’s no way to earn actual money back, so I feel like I’m not really getting rewarded for being off my phone. What I thought was going to be a perfect app for me turned into one that I’m now deleting because I see no reason for it. If the rewards got better and I could actually earn points to use towards gift cards or some way to get money back (like in other apps similar to this), I’d get it in a heartbeat. Even if the rewards were discounts for popular restaurants or stores that I could actually shop at I’d be happier.

It’s great but..... I’ve been using this app for almost a year and it’s great. I love using the app and my points are stacking a lot, especially after driving. The only issue is that the bug fixes haven’t fixed the fact that I can not access anything in the app. When I open the app I am left with a white screen that will not go away. I can’t do anything with he app now. I hope this can get fixed. It works for my friends, but I don’t know why it isn’t working for me. Is it because of the type of phone I have? iPhone 8+

If I’m Broke, Then I Can’t Spend $$$ on Expensive Rewards. I’m not a college student, but I am broke. I thought this app would be an easy way to earn things, and it is. I really enjoy how the timer works, except for when you get a call and lose all points. The driving system is great, until you check your points and earn a Distracted Driving point. I’d really like to see more fast food rewards like McDonald’s or Burger King. I’m already broke, I don’t have money to spend at American Eagle Outfitters, ASOS, or whatever protein powder. I have to spend money to save money, and I don’t think that’s incredibly flawed. The problem is that I DON’T have money to start with and I don’t have ANY options to spend money to save money if everything is out of my price range. I do think that this app has a lot of potential, but I’m going to quit and not recommend it to anyone if it doesn’t improve. I was recommended this app by a friend in the first place, and I am sorely disappointed.

Pretty good app but not much of a variety. As a college student I’m looking to try to get as many deals on as many things as I can get, it would be amazing if this app also had deals with places like bookstores and such that I can use to benefit my education in the long run and not just to get things that I like or don’t really need. Some more popular food places or grocery stores would be nice also. Students don’t really have much money to buy a whole lot of groceries so it would definitely be beneficial to your consumers if this feature was added. Other than that I think the app works great!

Not working. When I first downloaded, it worked like a charm. I’d get the little notification telling me I was earning points and I’d be good to go. Now whenever I’m on campus or just trying to set a timer, I’ll open pocket points to the correct screen and press start or whatever. The green bar at the top appears telling me to lock my phone. Yet when I do, I get a notification to go back to the app so I don’t lose my points. When I open the back back up, it’ll always say I was locked for ___ seconds and earned like .02 points. What is the point of staying off your phone if I have to leave it on and tap it every minute or so to make sure it doesn’t stop giving me points? Right now my primary earner is the distracted driving. But I’d really like to know how to fix this?

LOOVE the new update! Just one suggestion.... I REALLY like this new update, I stopped using Pocket Points because it was never locating me on campus, and it was simply too frustrating to try and make it. Now I use it to reach my goals of staying off the phone. However, I notice that sometimes I lose my points even when I haven’t unlocked my phone, but I receive a text. I feel kinda cheated losing all that time. Maybe we could receive a very small portion of points based on how long we have our phone locked, then if we reach a goal, we can receive significant bonus points? Just a thought. Otherwise, LOVE this app!!

Not my fave anymore. I used this app everyday for 8 hours at a time during school and I loved it. Nothing brought the greatest joy of earning teacher rewards for being off my phone. But now I can’t even keep the app open for a second to start earning points. I’ve tried literally everything. From deleting the app and redos loading it several times, to restarting my phone/trying to create a new problem. I don’t know what’s going on, but I would really like it if someone fixed the problem. Not being a hater because I really like this app and it’s concept, but I can’t fully enjoy it if it doesn’t want to work correctly.

Amazing. This app is great. Perfect for students or really anyone who feels they spend too much time on their phones. I would like to see it become easier to add people though. Using it in a class of over 100 and wish I could add them without having to get their phone number first. Would love to see connection established through accounts instead. Like if I could just click on their profile and send a friend invite or something. Other than that it’s absolutely fantastic.

Decent. Overall, my experience with this app has been fairly good. It is a cool concept and actually works, allowing me to stay off my phone while competing with friends. However, two big complaints I have (hence only four stars) is the fact that the app logs my “distracted driving time” while I am just a passenger and reduces my total points. There also is little incentive as there are few rewards which are actually relevant to me (more food and trendier clothing shops would be nice) and it is difficult to find any rewards local to my area or while I’m out of town. Besides that, I think the app is based on a cool concept and executes it well.

It used to work great. I don’t think I have earned points since any of the new updates (since the app started creating goals and adding ads at the beginning). I set a goal and when I pick up my phone after the allotted time it tells me I failed. Alternatively, when I’m on campus, open and lock the app, I have yet to see any points even after keeping it locked through an entire class period. I keep the app only because I got a lot of points at the beginning so it’s worth my while to use the points but when they are gone they app serves no purpose. It’s a great app for local businesses; I’ve returned to a number of restaurants I discovered only through pocket points. I tried the JcPenny deal and nothing in my cart was eligible for the discount and it doesn’t tell you what is eligible. The Target points were practically useless as well

Very few worthwhile rewards. I love this app in concept, and I really want to like it. However, there are almost no rewards that actually feel like they’re worth cashing in for. Most of the rewards are just 10% (or less) off somewhere (often somewhere expensive), and I’ve seen multiple instances where the reward was just a promotion the store was doing anyway. Many of them are for shops I’ve never heard of and/or have no interest in buying from. And ultimately, these (unexciting) rewards typically cost 20 or less points- accurate to their value, but when it’s pretty easy to rack up hundreds of points, it seems pointless. I’d be happy to spend lots of points on one reward (I can save up!) if it’s something I’d actually want.

It’s impossible to earn points with new update.. New update makes it extremely difficult to get points. I had an hour and 40 minute long class and got zero points because some solicitor called me. I didn’t even mean to hit the ‘end call’ button because I just knew it would say I lost points. It’s much easier to do the 10-20 minute time limits, but also you can really earn anything since you shouldn’t be resetting the timer during class. It’s also hard to check for points after class because if you get too far away from the room (like if you had to leave because a new class was coming in) it doesn’t register that you were ever on campus and therefore gives you nothing. If the next update won’t fix any of this, I’m just going to delete it.

Better a few years ago. I first downloaded pocket points when I was going to college and it was a great way to keep you engaged in class and stay off your phone. The rewards were pretty good and you could get discounts you couldn’t find else where. I stopped using it after I graduated but then I saw they’ve made it for everyone, not just students. While the concept behind everything is positive (reducing phone time), in my opinion, the rewards are wack! They’re not even unique to pocket points. You spend your points on discounts that you can find by easily googling for coupons. Or they’ll even make you spend points on deals that exist alone without using pocket points. For example, they had a Stila Cosmetics bogo for eye liner but when you go to the Stila website, they have the same deal and I don’t have to trade pocket points for it. Idk maybe the food discounts are better, but the retail store discounts aren’t that great.

Mmm. I use to love this app but now I just feel like I’m getting cheated out of points and not earning what I deserve. The only way I earn points if through the goal setting and if I need to access my phone sooner for an emergency, I just wasted an hour of staying off it and no points rewarded. There’s not a lot of options for food places which I’m more interested in being a college student and all. The clothing brands on there being offered, way to expensive even after the discount. If you guys could offer more food places and deals for Walmart, target, hobby lobby, Ross, Kohl’s, tjmaxx, and other things like these. Imagine the great deal of more downloads you guys would get. I know I would definitely refer the app to more people and use it a lot more. I love the app because of the discounts on food, but it hasn’t been worth it lately. Thanks..

I miss the way it used to be. Recently I have experienced issues with my points not appearing after I completed the time off of my phone. My biggest issue is that I will be off my phone during class and once I get back after my set goal it says that I earned 0 points! I didn’t even have my phone out! The integrity has been lost and I really dislike setting these goal times vs when I would just press start and push my phone aside while studying. It would be great to have more options for places around town to use my points, but it’s okay ish now. After this most recent update, my app won’t even open anymore. The app is now trash.

Not Enough Options. As a university student, I thought the whole concept of the app was amazing and I was really excited to try out the app. However, most of the stores and restaurants the app gives rewards for aren't in my area or just aren't places I often go to so basically I'm currently just saving points for no reason because I have nothing to spend them on. I wish the app had a lot more places to spend your points for like common restaurants at campuses, for example. Us university students live on food. We study with snacks right next to us, we try to eat in campus to not waste gas or lose our good parking spot, and we're always hungry. Stress makes us hungry. I have nothing to spend the points on because the restaurants at my campus aren't included in the app like Panda Express, McDonalds, Burger King, Sushi Maki, etc.

Works like a Charm. I’ve gotten really sick of being on my phone, especially during class. This app helped to motivate me to beat people in longest time not looking at my phone and I earned real rewards at the same time! Having the rewards close to home and things that I normally spend money on has been great! I love that they are updating it to expand to home, work, or where ever you are! Thanks PocketPoints!

Great, but confused... I have been using pocket points for the past week and a half now for school, and I’ve been trying to earn hours. I turned to goal mode to achieve those hours for that homework pass, and the app is supposed to keep me off of my phone, but the goal mode doesn’t allow me to lock my phone. Instead of paying attention, I’m more focused on trying to not let my phone turn off from inactivity. Thank you for your time.

Has potential. This app could be great if it worked well at ALL TIMES and not certain circumstances. It only works well if you continuously use the 30 min goal. If you try to go higher, for example - 60 min, it will cut off on you and you don’t earn points. It sends a reminder to come back to the app only for the 30 min or less. It also doesn’t give you time to come back to the app if you go over 30 min. I don’t know if it’s their way of cheating people out of points or not, but I have lost like 20-30 points because the app wouldn’t stay active for the 60 min goal. I haven’t tried the class option yet. We’ll see how that works! This is really helpful for focusing, but they HAVE to fix this! It’s annoying to keep putting in 30 min goals when you want to focus for an hour or more. Excited for the new features coming!

Does its job, but wish there were more rewards. Pocket points definitely does a great job of keeping me up my phone while I’m trying to do homework. The only problem is that there isn’t a lot of incentives/coupons for our area. Definitely wish there was more because there’s only four or five places that I can use Pocket Points, so I may get tired of using it after a while if I have all these points but nothing to spend them on.

Great App. This is a great way to draw attention to distracted driving. Since beginning to use this App at UNO due to the recommendation of a professor to get students to stay off the phone during class time and get rewarded for doing so. I became more aware of the amount of driving I was doing distracted and has helped me to significantly reduce that amount making me safer on the roads. I also use it now on my children’s cell phones to know when they are using their phones whiles driving.

Watch videos to claim points??!!. I’ve been using this app for a while, and recently they changed things where if I want to claim my points, I have to watch a 30 second ad. Ummm....isn’t the whole point of this app to keep people OFF their phones??!! It used to be I collect the points for staying off the phone and then redeem them for something. Now I have to sit and stare at an ad in order to claim the points I earned from keeping off my phone. Other than that recent development, the app works great and functions as it’s supposed to. Which is why I gave it 4 stars and not less than that.

Great idea, not well put together. It’s a wonderful idea. Who doesn’t want free stuff for not being on your phone? But the places that have coupons available are so few and far between, and the stuff that have coupons are mostly stuff I wouldn’t have bought in the first place. I’m keeping it because if I end up having to buy something that has a coupon from this app I can use it, but otherwise there’s no reason to stress about staying off your phone all the time to get as many points as you can. It’s just not worth the time.

Great deals all around my campus. My original review was 2 stars - while I loved the app, it started crashing every time I opened it. I finally fixed that problem by deleting the app and re-downloading it - not sure why that worked but I am so glad it did! I can rack up so many points while studying that turn into real benefits. Thankful that several businesses near me offer BOGO deals! This is a great incentive for students.

Hate the most recent update. So I just got hooked on this app, and it’s pretty neat. But the most recent update is full of bugs and glitches. My times are not being recorded anymore (even though I get the “Hooray, you hit your goal!” feedback.) Also, my phone automatically goes out of Sleep mode when I get a notification that I am earning points—although the phone does not unlock—; somehow, the app deems this as the phone unlocking, meaning I am never able to reach the time-limit goal. Sigh.

I don’t like the new update.. I enjoyed using PocketPoints until this new update came about. While I understand the idea of having a goal in order to give students something to look forward to while their phones are locked, I don’t think it helps anything. A student cannot help if their professor ends class early or if a class doesn’t take as long as expected. Also, what about the classes that are three hours long? The highest goal is about two hours, but I’m taking three courses that are three hours long within the first few days of the week. All in all, I think switching the app back to the way it was would be better.

Great, but needs improvement. It’s a great concept, but I wish there were coupons worth more points to redeem. I’ve accumulated over 1000 in the past month and I’m not sure what to do with them. Also the leagues are fun to compete in, but it’s kind of unfair that college students (like myself) are competing against high school students who are in class 40 hours a week. I use it every day so it’s a good app, but maybe add coupons that are worth more and put college students in league groups only with college students.

AMAZING. This is hands down one of the best apps i’ve ever downloaded. Whenever i walk into 1st period i’m always using my phone but with Pocket Points, the app makes me not use my phone at all anymore during class. You would think it’s fake or something but i didn’t spend a single penny on chick fil a and all those coupons for everything else is real. I recommend the app for everyone, especially if you use your phone a lot in class.

Classic PP was Better. The original way to gain Pocket Points was more unique than other apps on the market. You’d have to be on campus and in the app, and based on how long you were in the app you got more points. That was great because no other app on the market was approaching it in that way. If you were to get out of class early, you’d only get a few points, but you’d still get something. Now, you have to set a specific time for how long you want to be off your phone. What if you have a 3 hour long night class and you get out an hour early? You can either lose the points you’ve been earning for the past two hours completely, or wait another hour not using your phone at all. It’s just like every other “stay off your phone” productivity app nowadays, and is nothing special. Also, the app won’t recognize when it’s being used. An example, I left my phone in the app for hours in the campus library working on a paper, only to find out it awarded me no points despite giving me the “congrats on earning points” notification. RIP Pocket Points, you are not what you once were.

Great App!. This app is easy to use and really beneficial for college students. My professor had told me to get this, to get free/discounted deals. I was skeptical at first, but it really works! I have gotten multiple FREE foods and such. The only downside is if you are NOT on campus, it takes much longer for u to get points. 35 minutes only gets you about 3-6 points. But they always update the app and add more amazing features, so it keeps getting better. Definitely recommend for anyone.

Was a perfect app. When I first got the app, I was a freshman in college. It worked so good. Awarding me points, saving me money at local businesses and other manufacturers. And then... I got the new updates and all of a sudden, it doesn’t want to open. It doesn’t want to load the opening page, and I don’t earn anymore points. I work at a local business across my university, this app helped students eat on a low budget, now they all have the same problem I do. What happened?

Meh. When this app first came out I loved the idea, it’s great for students, it’s incentive to stay off your phone during class and you can use the rewards to save money because as a college student you are really on a budget. I really liked the system, the only thing I felt was lacking was the rewards but I figured that would get better with time. I stopped using it when I couldn’t spend my points on anything. I picked it back up after the update and I absolutely hate the goal change, it’s just a way to cheat you out of points. It also doesn’t really make sense because now you have to check your phone and tell it to keep going occasionally which defeats the purpose of getting you off your phone. The rewards increased in the number of places but they still haven’t gotten better. It’s just not worth spending a crap ton of points on 5% off someplace I wasn’t planning on going in the first place. This was originally targeted for students but now they are trying to broaden the spectrum of users, which is fine, but if you are catering to students and people of low income maybe have rewards that actually make sense to your demographic and are monetarily worth it. 5% a clothing store I can’t afford anyway isn’t really great.

New Point System is Terrible. The new timer point system is the worst, it’s almost impossible to get any sort of reward now and isn’t even worth using anymore. Edit: yeah.... it’s still the worst. They haven’t fixed anything. Edit 2.0: re-download the app for the new semester hoping it would be better. They said they added a non timer version which they did, but it’s awful. If you’re by yourself trying to earn the max you can get per hour is 4.8 points which is absolutely useless. Most things on this app cost an absurd amount of points and would require me to be off my phone for a solid two weeks while on campus to get 2 dollars off an ice cream cone..... and when my phone is used for homework it kind of defeats the purpose of even trying. 1 Star is far to high of a rating for this app. Don’t waste your time using it.

Bring back the old version!!!. I used to love this app! It helped me focus in school and the rewards are actually really cool. But this version is extremely annoying. I am constantly having to check my phone to make sure that my time doesn’t run out, and if my class ends earlier than I set my timer to, I lose the points that I made while I didn’t use it in class. Please go back to the old version, at least for the time that you are in school. Because I like this “challenge” idea for when I’m studying at home, but when I’m at school, the old version was a lot better, because I can’t control how long my professors decide to teach. And if my class ends and I have to check the bus times, I miss out on my scheduled points.

Waste of time. At first I loved this app. And now it’s just a way to cheat you out of points. The algorithm clearly was not set properly. After being off my phone during independent study off campus, I chose the max goal because I had been studying all day. After completing the goal, I opened my phone for it to tell me I had not completed it because I was off my phone and then jipped me of my points. All of that time wasted. Not to mention the driving isn’t even accurate. Even though I was home, parked in the driveway and getting out of my vehicle, it considered me to have distracted driving and deducted points. Great concept but poor implementation

Good… but no rewards?. So far I am really liking this app. Its very rewarding to put my phone down at the beginning of a lecture and then get greeted with reward points at the end. I really like the goal part of it as well. Its nice to essentially set a timer and work for that amount of time, while also receiving a few points. My only complaint is that there are no rewards that I can get. I dont mean that theres no rewards that only cost a little bit and I dont have that much. I mean that the only reward I can get is free shipping on a brand. There are no other rewards like the app store displays. I am able to still find the internal gratification of getting the reward points enough to stay with the app, but I dont think ill want to stay much longer if there arent other exchange options given

Needs better deals. I love the concept, the execution could be better due to the app not always being able to detect when I’m in class. For example, I’ll use the app during class, but when I come back to my phone, no points will have accrued. NEEDS BETTER DEALS. Most of the deals are discounts that the companies already offer. There are very few incentives to even use this app if I can get the same discounts for just going to the vendor’s website. Chick fil a used to be the best one, but that’s gone now. Definitely needs more food option. Mediocre app until they can get more/better deals, even if the rewards cost more.

Not Getting Points. I was loving this app and would have given it a 4-5 star rating if you would have asked me about it a few days ago. However, all of the sudden the app is no longer rewarding me points for the longer periods of time that I am off my phone. For example, yesterday I was off my phone for about 5 hours in total: 1 early in the day during a class, 2 at work, and another 2 in the evening. During all of those times when I locked me phone I had the notification that I was earning points. When I unlocked my phone, it was to my surprise that I actually had earned no points, though I had been off of my phone. I even tried setting a goal later in the evening and I got the notification on my screen that I finished my goal, but when I unlocked my phone there were no points. Very frustrated at this app. Great in concept, and it was great for a while, but very lacking in delivery. I’m tempted to give it a 2 star rating, but because I had a good experience at first I’m giving it a 3 star rating.

They keep taking away rewards.... This app was great at the beginning of the fall semester of 2018. Now we can no longer group together with people in our class and earn more when everyone is collaborating with no phone usage. Also, the rewards that students on campus are using keep getting taken away and now I have no use for this app anymore. I used to stack up points so I could get free coffee any size at Starbucks but then they got stingy and made it a free grande iced lemonade in the winter time.... I can’t even drink that because of my dietary restrictions. They also had a free sandwich deal with Starbucks but they took that away too and replaced it with nothing. Any other deal is vaping and ecigs that appeal to college students that shouldn’t be doing that anyways. Super disappointed and uninstalling.

Good idea, mediocre execution. It’s an excellent idea to keep people off their phones. The goal setting or counting how many minutes you aren’t on your phone is brilliant. However, the reward system is pretty limited, doesn’t do much, and it only uses a few points. It doesn’t fully encourage increased time off your phone, which is the point. It looks like they’re getting better, but maybe a few things that are free or close to it for more points would be better because I would have something to reach for.

Too many notifications. I really like the concept of this app. I’m in school everyday so I enjoy being able to acquire points for staying off my phone and finding small rewards for it. That being said, this app sends TOO MANY notifications. The notifications have to be on so that you know when you have reached your goal, but it sends me a notification that says “swipe to start earning points now!” about every 20 minutes. I’ve gotten soooo sick of it. I would suggest making your notifications less annoying, it definitely drives me away.

Versions give varying points.. I used to love this app to no end. I use it multiple times per week, and I used to always have the pocket points I needed when I needed them. Lately with this latest update, or perhaps a glitch in my version, the free points prizes are few and far between, I no longer get them for claiming my 10 unclaimed points, also sometimes I’ll get home and check my points after driving and there’s none. I don’t know what’s going on, but this week I had to pay for Chips and. Drink at subway, with money instead of points and I just don’t know why. I talked with some friends of mine at a dinner last night, and they’re still getting tons of points. I’m not sure if their version is different. I’m a full time student and work part time at the school and should be getting lots of points, but it’s gotten to where they’re super rare. Please bring the points back!

BEST FOR COLLEGE!. This app is great for college! It helps you get focused on your classes by keeping you off your phone during class. You get free discounts just for having the phone on in your app. I was also worried about battery usage. I haven’t noticed my battery go down a bit, and I have used it for 2 weeks at school. Great app!

Great App!. This app has not only gotten me off of my phone but also I’ve gotten free food out of it! (Which is nice because I’m a college student) is definitely recommend this app to anyone! The only thing is I wish there were more options for rewards just because a lot of them I wouldn’t use! Other than that this app is fantastic!

It’s a good app. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because some of the deals you can get aren’t good. By this I mean, a business may already offer this deal on their website and it’s like pocket points wants you to use your points on a deal you can get for free. But some of the deals are worth it so you just have to make sure your picking the right deals.

Very Encouraging App. This app really helps motivate me to stay off my phone in class, because when I did I get rewards from stores and restaurants around the area. They also started to add ways to get points when you’re home over the summer/breaks. I really encourage y’all to get this app!

Great as a teacher and a student!. I use this in my classes and have seen it help A LOT with cell phone distractions. I also like using it myself when I need to be focused on something or just need time away from my phone. The drive points are also great!

Please add more restaurants near me. Good app but needs more coupons for restaurants near me because many places have been discontinuing or businesses like cold stone creamery, qdoba and Panda Express are not including the locations near me. Some things that I love about the new update is that I was finally able to earn points 10 days in a row and I can earn points on campus before/after regular school hours and I can earn them off campus now too and I can earn double points every school day instead of Tuesday’s only.

Teacher Rewards crash the app. I love the idea and overall concept of this app. However, just as I was about to share this amazing app with my entire faculty, it turns out that when you try to use the teacher rewards function in the app, it crashes and doesn’t hope again. The only way to get the app back is to uninstall it and then reinstall it. I hope this glitch gets fixed soon as it is an awesome idea and would be great for our school.

Amazing idea. It's so convenient, you literally get free stuff for not using your phone and it takes the temptation away from wanting to use your phone when you shouldn't, though I do wish the two hackers would be banned since their basically stealing I can tell their hacking because they had 9.8 millions minutes in just a day! Impossible.

Ew ew ew. This would be 0 stars but I am forced to give it 1. This ugly app is literally so confusing to use. I accidentally spent points to get a coupon because I wasn't sure what I was doing. And then again, I accidentally used the coupon when I wasn't at the store ready to use it. I'm seriously so annoyed and just wasted all those points. I won't be using this app until there are clear directions included. I will also tell all of my friends about this horrible experience. Please fix it.

Super buggy. I would have given this a 5 star, but for the past year every time I get into the app it shuts the app off and kicks me to the home screen and won’t let me eat points. I had it on my old phone and kept it because I thought that once I got a new phone it would work but I just recently got a new phone and it does the same thing. I deleted the app, but maybe if this bug is fixed I will reinstall it.

Worst app EVER!!. Every time I try to use my points to redeem a coupon, the app freaks out and glitches. After that I the app stops working altogether. After this happened I deleted the app and redownloaded it to see if that would help. When I logged back in it said I only have 23 point!! Before deleting and reinstalling the app I had over 750 points!! This app is so frustrating. I feel like it is a scam because I have never been able to actually use any points I earn. Do not waste you time. They just want you location so they can sell the data to other companies.

End Time. The app is GREAT! I don’t get how you do it and how you have such an AWESOME IDEA. The only problem is that when you set a goal for one hour (example) at 5:00pm it should say that the end time is 6:00pm but instead it goes all the way to like 12:00am and that throws off the amount of points you get. When I should be getting 30 I instead get 0. I may be wrong because I’m new with the app but from what I know that is whats happening to me.

A must-have app!. I teach at a community college and have noticed more and more students staring at their phones instead of paying attention to the lesson. Once I introduced the idea of Pocket Points, I rarely see phones out unless we’re using them for a quiz or practice exercises. I mean who doesn’t love free food or discounts? I highly recommend Pocket Points!

Needs regular updates. I like the varied point earning system but when I go to a place I should be able to spend my points, they don’t offer those deals. Examples being Krispy Kreme and Jamba Juice. It’s frustrating to look forward to spending some points for a good deal only to find out you can’t get them. Please update more frequently so I don’t waste my time and know what I can actually use my points for.

Best part of my college career. I love pocket points because I finally got recognition for being the hardest working, most handsome, and most humble person on campus. I’ve been the top user at my school for the past two months and now everyone knows me when I walk through campus. Pocket points is a way better investment than any fraternity out there.

Unfair points earning system. The newest update (April 2018) absolutely ruined this app. I have no idea at any given time how long I will be off my phone, but knowing I earn more points the longer I’m off it is a motivator to stay and earn. I use PP every day, I love this app, and I’ve been using it since it came out. But having to set a time limit and not earn any bonus points or points beyond that negates the purpose of your app. Make the timer an option, not a requirement. This update doesn’t make any sense. It’s a completely different app now, and I’m probably not going to use it anymore. A serious shame.

Shame.. This app seems amazing in practice, yet whenever you eventually build up enough points for whatever, and you’re at the cashier waiting for a discount, the app refuses to work, immediately crashing and repeatedly to the point of no possible way for you to get any money off, but you’re already at this place you wouldn’t have gone to because you’re trying to SAVE MONEY and you’re ALREADY HUNGRY so you end up spending MORE than you wanted to. I loved this app until this weekend. Shame.

Great app. This app helps me stay off my phone, but also rewards me for it! I wish they had some more popular places to redeem the points & I think it could be really big if they did that- but love this app! It’s made a few of my friends competitive to see who can stay off their phone the longest, which is just what this generation needs!

Great app, but now the ad’s are messing up the point. How am i going to open the app on my phone during class when I have to sit there for 2 minutes and click through ads (that make the app glitch as well)? I’m not against ads on apps, but this is the wrong type of app to have ads on. I need to be able to quickly access pocket points while I’m in class and now I can’t do so. Fix it!

Proven Savings. I have been using Pocket Points since 2015, and I have been extremely impressed by the continual savings and offerings that Pocket Points has provided me. As a college student, finding deals is a lifestyle; finding deals on food is a necessity. Pocket Points has allowed me to eat at all the spots that I love in my town without having to empty my wallet. Excellent app!

New Update 👎🏾. The new update makes it extremely hard to earn points. I used to earn outs no matter what the length of time was, now you have to set a timer for very little reward. & if you don’t reach the goal (class ended early) I didn’t get any credit for the time I did have my phone locked. I’ve also had it simply not give me points at the end of time. After a day of class I only gotten 5 points, which makes it VERY hard to accumulate for any rewards.

Love the Concept. I’m hardly on my phone like my friends and it’s nice to be rewarded for not having my face buried in a screen. I also love the driving feature. It rewards you for being safe. I do wish more restaurants would participate with good rewards but that’s not Pocket Points fault.

Frustrating. I have had this app for a while now, I do not like it as I will be a passenger in a car and if I’m on my phone it says I was distracted driving this is really stupid it shows I have all kinds of distractions while driving and the problem is I don’t drive. LAME. And I just rode with someone across three states and I don’t like it how it gets to ten points and you have to watch a stupid ad to get your points each time and you can’t gain more till you do. I’m totally not feeling this app

More options for point use. I love the app but I wish I could use my points for more rewards. I also wish that the app would update for the aces that aren’t open near me anymore. For example a place I can use my points for rewards is a place called D.P Dough. This restaurant is no longer open but yet it’s still on the app saying I can use my rewards there.

Lost coupons. The app itself is cool and I planned on using it with my students in school to encourage them to keep their phones away. However, it’s not very user-friendly. While I was testing it out before I pilot it with them, I “purchased” a coupon with my points, but the coupon has since disappeared. If it were a little more user-friendly, it would be 5/5!

Can’t earn points anymore. I used to love this app. But it’s getting frustrating because there are times when I lock my phone for long periods just to open it and found the app didn’t give me any points. It’s the second time this week when I set the goal mode just to reopen the app saying I failed the goal and earned zero points...like how?!? it literally still shows the app. The leadership board and levels are nice. But if I keep glitching like this and barely gain new points, dropping ranks and levels is very discouraging to continue using the app.

I got screwed over. I thought this app was really cool and was a great opportunity to earn something for staying off my phone, but when I actually tried to use the points I've built on a reward, I got screwed, it didn't work and I lost all my points (Edit) They were totally nice and gave me my points back! This is a great app!

Okay just a bad app now. The time is now off from the time zone your in and it won’t show how many points I’ve earned either I may stop using this app completely if you don’t fix anything on it and give more stores it’s cheating me out from using my phone. Also the driving point is not working I’m either a passenger or on a bus and it still asking if I’m driving when I’m not ugh stupid app to begin with and I won’t recommend it unless it’s gives better rewards and the time on the clock is fixed.

Rubbish. A couple of my friends got this app and told me to get it. The first time I went on it, it lets me sign up and stuff and then when I tried to look around the app a bit, the screen turned white for like 5 seconds and then went to my home screen. Every time I go on it it does this, I’ve reset my phone and deleted and redownloaded to so many tines and it stills does the same thing. I really want to use this app but every time i try it just shuts off. plz fix it.

What happened???. Pocket points is an excellent idea, and as a student I really appreciate what they’re doing. However, the last update completely ruined it for me! Instead of getting one point for every minute you don’t touch your phone, it asks you to submit an exact amount of time you will be on campus for. I have no problem with changing the point system, but when I unknowingly get out of class 15 mins early and go home, instead of getting a partial amount of points I get absolutely none.

Update from hell, crashes, useless. Got this app awhile back cause I thought it was a good concept. Liked it at first, but the new update has destroyed it. The goal system makes you check your phone constantly to keep earning points, and so does the driving system which is really quite dangerous. Plus it crashes A LOT now, sometimes killing whatever goal you were working on. To top it all off the rewards are useless. 5% off a place most students can't afford makes no real difference in price, so I can't even use any of the rewards they offer.

It’s great but one problem..... Very time they put on my notifications that I get points every time I earn points and to claim your points every minute you go without looking at your phone on the road it doesn’t let me claim my points so if you can help me fix my problem then that would be great (love the app by the way)

Disappointing change. Changing how the point system works has made this app very difficult to use. I prefer the old point system. I’m also not sure why you can get 2x studying points at the same time and place as the normal points. Maybe have the 2x points be a time-set countdown, and have the regular one be a count-up time/point system like before. Also, there’s a bug where the regular points will work, when the 2x won’t, depending on location.

Only Promotional. Most of the redeemable rewards are first time promotions. Like Uber eats, 5 dollars off your first order only. Only would want to redeem points for companies and things I use and enjoy not trying to find new things to spend money on. Already use Uber eats so it’s pointless. That’s just one example there are more. Every reward is just some sort of promotion for that brand in some way. Also mainly came for food coupons and Uber eats was the only thing for food and it was only the promotional offer and al the others non food related were garbage promotions as well. I deleted the app.

Crash on startup. Great app, I’ve used points discounts plenty of times for things. However, for the past couple of months I’ve been unable to use it lately as, when I launch it, it shows up with a white screen, which then auto crashes after a few seconds of waiting. Unsure if this is my own tech screwing up or a bug that had yet to be fixed.

Pocket Points Review. This is a great app! Has saved me lots of money. I appreciate you all creating this in efforts to help out college students! I wish restaurants couldn’t quit or leave the app. Those are major bummers. Also at times this app glitches causing earned points not to be received. That is frustrating. But besides those, I’m grateful for this app!

Improvements. The pocket points app is very useful helps us study and eat something for free after ur tired. But the options in it are partial towards Non vegetarian. Vegan’s have no option on chick fill A, which is the nearest restaurant the USC students can find. Please include some veggie burgers in the free options

Not what you think. This app is not completely accurate. I tried a Panera in my home town when it said on the app it was accepted there and then I went to pay and they said we’ve never heard of such a thing. They refused to take it because there was no scanning option or feature to apply the discount. I sent an email to the company and they said they would refund me the points I lost from “purchasing” the coupon but I never received any points back. It makes me skeptical about this app so be weary.

Annoying. It's super easy to rack up a bunch of points but most of the deals you can buy with them aren't really anything special. Not worth the 4 pointless notifications a day. I finally just turned all notifications off for this app because there's no way to turn off the ones that aren't for actually earning points. Not one star because of the few decent deals here and there.

Points....ANYWHERE. I’ve been sad for a year now since I graduated from Chico State and could no longer earn points. Especially considering I only had an iPhone for 7 of the 24 months that I was there. BUT NOW! I can earn points as a regular civilian 😍 At my job and s*$t. I’m profoundly grateful for this new opportunity. Obviously.

Cool App but it Crashes. I love earning points and using rewards at local stores & restaurants. However, for the past few days it hasn’t opened. I click on the app, a white screen pulls up, and then it shuts down. Last week I was in a different state and it worked fine, so I’m wondering if my recent change of location had something to do with the change. Either way, I deleted the app because it’s not working at all.

Used to be good....but I cannot get into the app!!. I used to use PP a lot but haven’t used it recently. I had deleted the app a while ago but just tried to reinstall it but cannot get in!! The database knows that I have an existing account based on the user prompts of my phone number and/or email. But it does not give me the option to login using the existing contact info! It only wants me to try again but I would rather get into the account with my existing contact info to access the points that I had already accumulated. Frustrating!! Please fix!!!

Cheated and angry. Change the way that we earn points to be the way it used to be where we would earn points based off of how long our phone was locked and not a set amount of time. This update cheats the users out of points that could have been earned previous to the update, because I would’ve earned much more than 18 points in 50 minutes last week when the app actually works(because it didn’t always work…). Bottom line won’t be using this app anymore…

Change back to the old way you earn points. The new update requires users to not use the phone for 50 mins in order to earn 9 points. If you have a short class or keep it locked for longer than 50 mins you can’t earn anymore points. Please go back to the way it was where you earn points based on how long it’s locked. Multiple times I’ve missed out on points because I had a short class or I had my phone locked for 2 hours straight but I only got points one goal, which makes me feel cheated.

Still Crashing!!!. I like the app and the concept. However, I haven’t been able to earn points nor access my rewards (that I’ve already earned!!) in more than a month. The past 2 updates haven’t fixed this. At least now I can get to the screen that asks for my birthday before it crashes. In the past, the app wouldn’t even load a screen before crashing. Please fix this. (I have an iPhone 8 and iOS 11.3.)

Loved this app at first but now I’m not getting points!?. Recently school has been so stressful that I have almost cut my phone time in half. I’ll set 2 hour timers multiple times during the day and sometimes even go over that with extra time. But for maybe 2 weeks now I’ve collected 0 points. Including when I am on campus. It’s very frustrating. Please get this fixed or I will consider deleting the app and I really don’t want too!!

Money Instead of Points. Overall, I like the idea but I feel like instead of deals and rewards, we got paid with actual money. For example, if we earned 50 points, we would get .50 cents. If you earned 100 points, you would get a $1. It would be better to spend that money on the stores and restaurants that they promote, instead of getting measly deals which still cost a lot of money.

Am I the only one having this issue?. Tried to use goal mode... was off my phone for 3 hours, checked, received 0 points. The app also isn’t registering when I lock my phone. The 5 hours I spent studying yesterday (don’t get me wrong, I definitely benefitted from having not used my phone) I didn’t receive a single point (well technically 0.8 — no joke). Tried reaching out to the help center. No response. This app seems like a total bust. Good concept, doesn’t work (for me). From other reviews, it seems like they’ve messed up with their newest update. Hate when developers lose touch with what got them started smh.

Im HUNGRY. I never leave reviews. But it is so bad that it has to be done. The app has had terrible/ useless point-redeemed rewards for some time now. I checked in again for the first time in a while today seeing that they have implemented advertisements every time you redeem points. I was glad at first, thinking the company might use its extra revenue towards mediocre rewards, I was wrong, same rewards you can get just for visiting the company website, if not its going to be like a 5-10% discount to a store no college student would be shopping at, we need food not luxuries.

Really nice!. There used to be some bug where it wouldn’t work after I locked my phone, but it’s fixed now and works well! The goal function is also great because it’s kind of more worth(?) the longer you set your goal to.
