Double jump works 50% of the time. I’m really liking the game, but got so frustrated by the third level because the double jump is buggy. About half the time, it doesn’t register that I’ve taken my thumb off. The button stays highlighted, preventing it registering my second tap for a double jump. I thought maybe I wasn’t raising my thumb high enough. Nope, that wasn’t the issue. I thought maybe I was tapping too quick. That wasn’t the problem either. I messed around with this for like 20 minutes testing. And it’s simply the button just doesn’t refresh fast enough sometimes after I lift my thumb, even 5 inches away from the screen and it stays highlighted. It’s annoying to make difficult platforming jumps or reliably fight monsters while this happens so consistently. I hope you guys could fix this, I couldn’t find any info online about it.

It has soul. So this game reminds me just a tiny bit of darksouls because you have to make mistakes to learn. For instance some floors break away and they're ducks about it so when you play through the first time you're going to drop into lava you can't see, anyways I really love the mystery behind most of the weapons and they all have unique movements I just really love them. The only problem I've found is the moving spike boxes because sometimes it just seems like they can reach much farther than their spikes. Most of the grinding is actually pretty fun but sometimes really tiring because you have to risk your life to find secrets and try over and over but it's fantastic and great. The only thing that could be better would be the music but it's really good as a background and all in all a good game

An essential platformer on iOS. Aside from the graphics being very Terraria-esque, and the first levels being a little hard due to only having three hearts, this game is excellent. The platforming, enemies, secrets all feel very reminiscent of old school NES and SNES games, and I specially like the currency system, which makes the game have progression, you can buy better weapons and feel like a pro wearing awesome looking armor. This is truly a must have mobile platformer for anyone looking to play one, and being only $2 with more content added via updated, you can't go wrong.

My favorite game. I have had an iPhone for years, and this is my favorite game. I managed to complete all the levels, but still haven’t found all the 3 treasure chests. Some bosses are really hard to beat and my son helped beat 2-3. Overall it’s still a blast to play. I just wish even more levels would come our way. Best jump / shoot D&D game out there, imo.

I’ve had this game since 2015. It’s worth every cent.. I rarely give five star reviews. I rarely enjoy platformers. Hell, I rarely even play iPhone games. This game is the best investment you’ll find on the App Store. The game itself is challenging, reminiscent of Castlevania. The art is also quite beautiful, each sprite obviously shown love and care. Level design is flawless, and the hunt for chests and crystals makes the game deeper than you’d expect. The devs have added loads of content for free, each meeting the high standards of the core game. Show some appreciation for one of the few games that doesn’t tout in app purchases, trust me that you will love this game!

Oh my god. So good.. I'm gonna be honest here. I mostly downloaded this game because of the good reviews. People were ranting and raving over this platformer so I thought well 2 dollars isn't bad. It's the best $2 I've spent on a game so far. I'm really picky when it comes to mobile games. I usually play them for a bit and then get tired of them and delete. I've been hooked on this game for 2 weeks now. It's challenging, rewarding, and a lot of times downright ruthless. The art is beautiful and the enemies and characters are wonderfully designed. You can customize your character with different outfits, weapons, and relics that grant you special abilities. The hidden chests and gems are a favorite part of this game for me. They are craftily hidden throughout each level so you'll have to have your wits about you if you want to find them. Seriously. If you like 2D side scrolling games. Get. This.

Nice game, but left wanting more.... I don’t buy a lot of games, but after reading the many positive reviews I thought I would make an exception. The controls are easy to get used to and the game begins with great promise. However, as I got further along I was left wanting more. There is almost no difference between weapons and thus very little incentive to upgrade your character. I played the last 5 chapters with the same sword I bought in the first chapter. I was a little annoyed that there is no perceptible difference in the suits of armor (only there for fashion?) and I still have no idea what purpose the souvenirs play in the game. It would have been nice to be able to trade, sell, or incorporate these souvenirs into the overall story (e.g. quests given by the townsfolk you meet along the way). About the only exciting thing was discovering the different relics. I would have liked a little more character development and more of a story to motive further gameplay. It would have been nice to have a health bar rather than discrete hearts; I think that would have helped fix the issue with the different suits of armor. In the end, it was an entertaining game, but I admit that I only completed the game because I can’t leave a game half done.

Phenomenal, But…. This game has been a staple in my arsenal when I’m on the road, out with my family, or at home with an unfulfilled schedule. I’ve beaten the game a few times, having collected every item, finished every quest, etc. But each time I do this, I break out of it wanting more. I would love to see this game have another update. Although It has been quite some time, I find that not only I, but many people would love this. It’s truly a great game and is well deserving of more action. Thank you, sincerely, for the fun you’ve given me and others over these past years. Highly recommended downloading this. Potentially there will be another update to come.

Goblin Sword Review:. I've NEVER reviewed anything before... but with THIS gem, I had to. I grew up loving the Castlevania series for the NES. This is the closest thing to it. Absolutely flawless. The controls are smoother than silk. And it DOES become challenging in the latter half. But once you beat it, you'll go a couple days and want to do it ALL over again! The bosses are unforgettable. The graphics (if you like the old school 16 bit look) are incredible. I'm PRAYING for a sequel. Easy 5 stars across the map. WELL DONE!

Amazing Platformer. I love everything about this game. From the NPCs, to the bosses, to the costumes, to the weapons. It’s an amazing, unique, and overall very, very fun platformer. I just really wish it would get updated with some new content, like an overtaken kingdom or something. I mean, how cool would it be if there was a level where your life would slowly drain and you’d have to find hearts to survive? Or what if a boss finally gave you something more than a souvenir and some gems? Anyway, it’s a great game and my only complaint is how it’s getting a bit old after two years without something new.

Awesome game! But I have a few recommendations. This game is awesome it's very addicting I can barely stop playing it. But I have a few recommendations. 1:character editor I think you guys should make it so we can create our characters instead of a blue haired character every time. 2:cheaper weapons The weapons are awesome but I have to admit they are expensive! So I wish you guys could make the swords a bit less gems 3:shields I was thinking what's a 15th century fighting game without shields!? Yes I know there's guardians but I was thinking you guys could do shields as an accessory that could doge some attacks but not all. Shield types (they do the same thing):wooden shield,Iron shield,Golden shield,platinum shield. 4:make a world I was thinking that maybe you guys could make it so we game creators could customize our own worlds then publish/play them on the game as a custom level. 5:multiplayer Now as to seeing that the bosses are so hard if your not as good at the game maybe you could put in a multiplayer system to let us play with others locally or around the world. Well that's all I have to say and I hope you guys could recommend my ideas into your game. TY.

AMAZING. I have played this game throughout three times. Meaning I have collected all the treasures and crystals from every level, done every challenge and collected all the swords and whatnot three times. And you bet I will be getting it for a fourth time. I am enthusiastic about a potential new level as ones in the past have never disappointed Thank you, Lucas

Woefully Uninspired. Mindless, simple, bland, and completely uninspired platform/Arpg with no original ideas, barely existent gameplay, and no point. The platforming and controls are smooth and that’s the last good thing I have to say about it. There’s something to be said for keeping games simple and sticking to a development plan that is reasonable and achievable. However, If you are lacking any original ideas from gameplay to presentation to artwork to theme it makes me wonder why you would even bother to get out of bed in the morning to attempt making it. That must have been soul crushing for whomever had to do it so I’m glad it’s at least made some money and giving some meaning to this things existence and gives me some hope after playing and then writing through this truly depressing experience.

I don’t usually like platformers.... ...and I still love this game. It is NOT an action RPG as I originally expected. Every level is a puzzle that requires slow, careful planning with no room for mistakes. But the levels are bite-sized, eliminating most of the frustration from dying. So far, it has just the right level of difficulty. The feeling of discovering a new secret every time I play is addictive. UPDATE: The third stage is much more punishingly difficult than the first two. I don’t have time to repeat a level 10 times, so I’m quitting.

Best Game on the App Store. I’ve recently purchased this game and omigosh, it’s amazing. I just can’t get off of it. I think though that you should be able to wield the Goblin Sword instead of having it gan from your wall. I know that it’s the most powerful sword and all but that’d be really neat. I’m excited when the next update is to see the new worlds(I beat them all already). I love the game because it’s challenging and fun to look for the treasure. Anyway, hoping for a new update. P.S. I have everything in the game.

Incredible!. This has to be one of the best mobile games I’ve ever played. There’s so much content, and every aspect of the game is done quite well. I really hope this studio puts out more games - a sequel or brand new titles. Amazing music, rewarding gameplay, and a visual style that pays homage to some of the best platformers out there. I really can’t say enough about this game. 10/10 would recommend.

Let me tell you how good is this.... First of all, can't believe only 3 persons are on the credits, a programmer, a Designer and a musician. The game is simple, retro, challenging, has perfectly hidden rewards, RPG elements, every weapon is different, every armor is cool, the level is design is really good. I've been playing video games since the '91, believe me, you won't regret buying this gem. Even my wife started to play it and loved it! Congrats developers, you nailed it! I enjoy every update with new levels since the game came out, a demonstration that simplicity can be this awesome and fun!

Best mobile game.. I played this game almost non-stop until I completed every level and collected every item. I never once felt there was a thing that needed to be changed. A bonus feature is that you can shift the controls around to fit your needs, really cool idea! Also, my wife really isn’t interested in video games but she got hooked on this game! She was playing it so much on my phone that I bought it on her phone too so I could get back to grinding 😂

Fantastic game. Great game. My favorite action game/platformer by far on the iPhone. Whoever said this game is uninspired and depressing must play way too many games or otherwise being approaching this from a "hardcore" or "critic" view that is overly jaded. This game is really fantastic, it actually has amazing gameplay that is balanced. The gear has an impact on your character visually and adds welcome variation to the gameplay without altering the basic challenge of each level. You can't be OP, and the difficulty seems to always be at the right spot. It is great value for what you pay. Its easy to pick up for a quick level or play for hours depending on what you feel like. It has kept me playing until almost 100% completion. The only thing is the story - I was like "what story?" I just played through all the levels and twice the game randomly "ended" after I killed some bosses and I was like wth happened. Who cares though, I didn't even want a story, I like to play this while I listen to podcasts or talk to someone on the phone for a long time. Besides that I agree with all the stuff the other people say about it. Just great!

Best Side-Scrolling Game in the App Store!. This is a fantastic game. I’ve been playing it since it’s release and I just keep coming back. It’s so much fun. The controls are great, the action is challenging, and the graphics are wonderful. This has been my favorite iOS game for a long time now. I ask the developers to please release a sequel or some more levels for the fans!!

Needs serious work. The game is simple at it’s core but lacks in the most basic of game design principles. Your character walks as slow as possible, maps hide things (good and bad) vertically where you can’t see them quite often, secrets typically consist of you walking around and slamming your face into every wall to see if it’s real or not, it’s difficult to attack in mid air, as attacks only process on tiles, collectibles aren’t saved/tracked between plays, so if you want to get both collectible icons for that level, you have to get every secret in one go, the challenge that comes from the game should be stemmed around it’s thought out and well made maps and enemy placement, but instead the challenge comes from poor design. I tried playing further to see if any of these problems were fixed, but after the first boss, I had to delete this game. If the App Store worked like steam, I’d ask for a refund to be honest. Go buy Cally’s Caves.

Great Game!. I don't normally have a lot of patience for these kind of iPhone games with the controls on the screen. I normally find them finicky and difficult to use. This game's control scheme isn't perfect either, but it's the best one I've come across. And the game itself is so compelling that I keep playing despite the sometimes frustrating controls. There are lots of interestingly designed levels and compelling gameplay mechanics. Definitely recommended! The only thing that would make it better is if it supported the Apple TV.

The right game for some, just not me.. There are many elements about this game I enjoy. Side scrolling, retro graphics, hidden areas, and upgradable equipment, all good things. Diverse enemies with unique attack and movement patterns scale the challenge as you progress. It’s a recipe for success. Unfortunately I found some of the levels almost tedious pass. Collecting everything could feel punishing. The controls were predictable, a plus, but the movement and speed seemed almost sluggish. To some extent the physics of movement adds to the precision that must be used to complete the levels. It forces you to learn from your mistakes. As you work through each level, you learn how to control the character’s movement to avoid enemy and environmental damage. I like games that are a little more forgiving. Something that requires less than my full attention. Goblin Sword has a lot going for it. It just didn’t fit my style of game play.

Great Game! (DEVELOPERS PLEASE READ 🐞). First off I want to say that this game is the most enjoyable game I’ve played on my phone on recent memory. The controls feel consistent after the first few levels. Tye only issue I had with the game is the background music. For some reason my music stopped working, so I went into the options menu and turned the music off/on again and am still having the same issue. Even with the music issue, I don’t have a problem rating this game five stars. If you make more content, I would buy it.

Fantastic game for lovers of Megaman X. I love the discovery and actual upgrades to your character which fundamentally change game play. It's sort of like the Megaman X-series, where as you upgrade your character, you can then go back to levels that you had trouble getting all the goodies. I keep coming back to see what new games they've released. This is such an amazing game, I can't wait to see what they do next. It has the feel of an old school arcade-style-RPG like Golden Axe, but this is so much better. Update: I bumped it up one star because the dev added a great whole new level. This game is great. Update 2: I came back hoping for another release and was pleasantly surprised -- again! Hoping to see what else they make! Update 3: This game is one of the only games I come back and check on every so often. Its such a lovely game. Its got such perfection in gameplay, something so rare these days. This is the kind of game I'll remember forever. Update 4: Just came back to see what was new, and I watched the video trailer for this game. I love how it shows the deft skills you develop while playing the game. The hero never gets hit once! Rock on! Update 5: Congrats on getting featured y’all! Any more updates or new games coming? You’re the best.

Fixes everything wrong with mobile gaming today. Absolutely fantastic. I sincerely applaud the developers who made this. In today's age of "pay to win" tactics and cheap gimmicks, I honestly feel like the people that made this weren't in it for the money, they just wanted to create a good game. And they did. No in-app purchases or garbage timers until you can play again. The level design is ingenious and really thought out. The game runs amazingly, I have played this game for countless hours and have encountered no bugs. The dev team continues to support this game with huge updates that bring more levels, more weapons, and so much new content. And it does have a huge amount of content. This is not a game you can beat in a few weeks. The ONLY possible bad thing I could say about this is that the control scheme takes some getting used to. There's nothing anyone can do to fix this, it's just the way it is. Your fingers just have to learn where the buttons are. But it's really not that hard to get used to, and once you do, the controls respond to movement really well. It feels just like you are playing with a controller. Seriously. Please buy this game. So much love went into it and it really shows. After you play it you'll be so glad that you could support the makers of this game for creating something truly incredible.

Amazing. This game is one of the most "bang for your buck" titles on IOS. With lots of levels, bosses, and collectibles. The graphics are nostalgic but modern, it is a very Mario/Zelda feeling game. It has little to no bugs or exploited apart from one on the giant snake boss. You can get a reaper or dragon guardian and hide in the space between the spikes and the wall, the guardian kills the boss and you can't be damaged. Now I have an idea, you should add a "create a level" I would love nothing more than to create a level and share it with the community. This game could easily be sold for $5 or more! I applaud the developer(s) for their hard work and commitment.

Such a breath of fresh (albeit retro) air!. So nice to have a simple concept game that charges you once and doesn’t choke you down with IAP, gem packages, daily’s, and all the other formulaic crap that the game industry is riddled with these days! Also the game itself is a super cool throwback to platformers and the secrets are devilishly placed with some nasty jumps/timing required for some levels. Definitely a fun game to wind down to, play on the plane, etc.

One of the best games in the App Store.. This game is retro like and those types of games are the ones I like and it isn’t that costly for a game nowadays. I have collected every chests and it took me about 2 months. Sure I have slammed my head against every wall to reveal every chest but it was worth it. Let me talk about the strengths this game provides. Hours upon hours of gameplay, intriguing hard boss fights, hidden secrets, and it costs just a few dollars. The only bad thing I can say about this game is that after completing the game, it is really boring. You can do nothing after completing the game is what I’m trying to say. I personal enjoyed the boss fights as it was an actual challenge instead of just a boss shooting up above him and running like a drunk cow. Would highly recommend this game to people who like platformer games while still having the feel of your average fighting game.

Fantastic. Really good and well thought out platformer. The art is excellent and truly pixel art as opposed to some games which use pixelated images but still rotate and transform everything to the point that it doesn’t look right. This looks exactly like a SNES game. The only thing I wish it had was a little bit more depth, like if the armor actually did something besides change your appearance and you could equip more than one special item at a time.

Best Mobile Game I Have Played. This isn’t even a mobile game at this point. With it being on the Nintendo switch. Got this when it was new. Been through added content. I have generally 100% this game. Literally every single thing you can do in it. Took a lot of time. I managed to do it all while just simply having time to go on my phone and play. While on a long car ride. Before a movie starts. Waiting on something. Things like that. Had fun every second. Worth the buy for sure. Would love to see a sequel or more content added soon hopefully.

Utterly epic. No doubt about it.. This game is fantastic! I love the graphics and the retro style, while still having polished and smooth animation! It's challenging, but somehow in a fantastic way! Just (SPOILER ALERT! BEEP BEEP! SPOILER ALERT!) I wish you could actually wield the goblin sword. Or, like, if you get the ending where you take the sword and rule the world, there could be, like, a battle inside the players head where it's his good side (green) vs his bad side (red). Then if you choose to play as the bad side and win then you could take the sword and get an ending where you take the sword and rule the world, or if you play as the good side and win then you can get the goblin sword and control its evil and use it in game, but not at its full potential so it doesn't take control of you. (SPOILER ALERT IS OVER. I REPEAT, NO MORE SPOILERS.) Also, can we have a place where we can completely customize our character. All in all though, if you have $2.00 you're willing to spend and you're considering buying Goblin Sword, the buy it. Please, buy it and you can kill your boredom like never before!

Amazing game! It’s addicting. I don’t usually write reviews, but felt compelled to comment on how awesome this game is. I have been playing it non-stop since purchasing it. The retro feel of the game and graphics are amazing. The controls are simple, but create perfect gameplay. I was looking for a game to play when I have some downtime and this has far surpassed my expectations. I hope to see more games like this from the creators. A+ on this one, good job.

This is what a mobile game should be.. I like this game, it’s really entertaining and as always ability to grow, progress and customization power is what makes games fun and engrossing, which it has. I have a few quip though, I want the ability to attack while moving and to mix and match relics (up to 3 at least). A bonus would be the ability to choose your warrior, change appearance, etc.

So good!. Addicted! Levels were easy in the beginning, and I was getting a little bored, but then the next "world" was harder and kept my interest. As I progressed even further, it has become even more challenging, and it really opened up and became a whole new game. Sooooo good. Worth the money. So much gameplay, and if you collect all the stuff each level, it makes for a really great and challenging game.

It's a great single play through experience. Goblin Sword will scratch that Megaman itch you have for a few days. The game has a nice difficulty curve and the unlocks are exciting. However, once you've done everything you can do there's not much to keep you playing especially after you've unlocked everything. The game becomes unplayable when you have all the items the game offers to you due to the upgrades being too powerful. Secret levels are where the greatest replay value is but that's only a few levels which isn't enough to keep a player invested for the haul. A fun bit short experience.

NEEDS MORE LEVELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. This game is great and all, But needs an insane amount of more levels! Right now, there's only 6 levels. There should be at least 15 levels, having more levels than just 16 levels. There should also be more relics, armor, and swords. The bars the swords usually have is only 3, but there should be 5. Other than these, The game is sooooooooooooo good. Keep on updating!!

An awesome 2D hack & slash game. Found this game hidden under the disgusting pile of freemium garbage. This game is fun, challenging and highly rewarding for skill. There's a shop for buying relics, armor and weapons. You can even find some of these items hidden in the levels! There are a lot of different enemies to fight. Overall the game is well polished and the devs have taken good care with the level design. My only complaint is that the music usually feels cheap and uninteresting.

Great game. This is how game apps should be. It's fun, it gets challenging in later levels and I love that it is a single easy purchase and you get the full game with no data/wifi required. Way too many games these days are just click bait - free download, fun for a couple days, then it gets extremely slow to progress unless you buy the upgrades anywhere from $1 to $99. Very annoying, it's like getting a service with hidden fees. But this game, Goblin Sword, perfect. As it should be. I gladly paid a couple bucks for this app. Runs just fine on my iPhone 7 plus.

I have never been so blown away. Honestly, this game is one of the best and most fun games I have ever played on any system. I dare say, it could flat out compete with the the little guy with a mustache ;)...seriously. The retro style is amazing in its simplicity, yet simple it is NOT. It's the perfect amount of challenge to keep you focused for hours upon hours. Just don't give up! The fun is the challenge and you sometimes need to play a level 20X to get the patterns and timing down, but the payoff is huge! Lots of secrets to find to make replay value through the roof. The value I got out of this would be the equivalent of buying a brand new PS4 or XBox game for $1(but I promise, this will be better!). I play it on my iPad while my 7 year old plays it on his(I am 39) and we have so much fun together. Buy this game! To the developers, PLEASE make a sequel, you guys rock and your logo should be on the next dollar bill(which I still have many of because your game price was so reasonable). THANK YOU.

They should be charging more!. First off, Goblin Sword is an amazing game! I love it! Easy, but difficult. Straight forward, but has enough variety to get you hooked. Well done! This is a gem of a game. Offering an Apple TV app and this app would be stellar. I would gladly pay $5 to have this on my big screen natively. PLEASE?!?!? Also, iCloud syncing is not intuitive (buried in the Statistics option with only a small icon with no explanation until pressed). Developers are super responsive! Thanks!

Best Platformer on iOS. As someone who’s played goblin sword since it’s release and through the updates, I have to say that it is the best platformer on iOS. Easy controls to get used to give the game a great flow and the retro graphics are a nostalgic touch. Boss battles are fun and have decent mechanics that aren’t easy their first go around. One of my absolute favorite games on iPhone and highly recommend to anyone who loves that retro platformer.

Good for a mobile game. This game is ok, the graphics are good, and it’s pretty fun as well, definitely worth the money, but I have a few problems with the game. 1.there is not much variety with levels, I don’t like having 10 forest levels, then 10 castle levels, it takes away some of the fun from the game. 2.to difficult to quick, after the forest levels, the difficulty rapidly increases, which makes the level much harder, and it takes away the fun when you have to the same level over and over and over again, it makes the game very boring.

Excellent Platformer. An awesome game with simple (yet very responsive) controls and some interesting level design. Having a blast playing with a MFi controller (I am personally using a DS4). Note to the developers: my only complaint is the focus state of the buttons when using a MFi controller is way too subtle. It would be better if the icons blinked a brighter white, or had some sort of outer glow/outline so it was clearer what button/item/option I had highlighted. Also, it would be nice if when purchasing items from the Merchant, there was a confirmation popup before it took your coins. This is especially important because of subtle focus state and it’s sometimes difficult to tell what items are highlighted in the UI. Lastly, it would be cool if “O/B” button could perform the “Back” operation in the menus. It’s fine to have it do the same thing as X/A in-game.

Goblin Sword is an EXCELLENT game. I am late, but this game is absolutely awesome if you are a fan of old school platform games. Just enough dungeons and dragons/monsters/sorcery to keep a fan of that type of stuff interested. Not super difficult to get through the mazes (hint: especially if you collect enough coins to buy a powerful sword ;), but enough to keep you engaged and plenty of levels. WELL worth the app purchase!

Needs more updates. I have had this game for at least 2 years now and have completed every new area as soon as it has come out (2-3 days to complete each new area). I then spend some time getting crystals and chests and stuff but that doesn’t take too long either. With the new weapons, the bosses are too weak and you don’t even really have to move at all to kill them, you can just spam in one spot. I think either the levels should be harder or maybe make more areas. For example, the boat should be able to travel to another island or something like that. Overall, still a great game in my opinion.

Amazing game!. This is the best platform we game I have played so far from the App Store. It's got good cutscenes, many customizations, and a different ways to end the game. Although there are lots of different levels I've gotten to the point where I am now waiting for them to update the game with new levels since it's been too long without any new levels and I've already beat the game

Must buy, amazing content for price no IAP. This is easily the best platformer if its type on iOS. You get the full game for a purchase, which is a serious amount of game. I don’t want to spoil things because you unlock them as you go, but there are multiple world of 16 levels each, a bunch of bosses, secret levels, hidden weapons and relic you can find in levels, tons of enemy types. It’s challenging and also strategic in that the right weapon or relic can help you through an otherwise really tough level. I just beat it after a few weeks of playing and I must say I loved it and wish there was more!!!

One of the best games I've ever played.. This game is absolutely amazing in every way. New weapons, relics, enemies and bosses make the gameplay interesting and varied, while at the same time offering a good challenge for new and returning players alike. It's pixelated graphics are stunning, with amazing backgrounds and animations. The game can be played many times over without losing its fun, which can be shown by the fact that I'm on my sixth play through in the last two and a half years.

Easily the most complete platformer for IOs. It’s hard to believe I hadn’t heard of this game prior to stumbling upon it. If you want a complete side-scrolling action hame similar to mega-man or Super Mario this game is for you. The graphics are colorful and varied, the levels have differing enemies with different attacking styles to keep things interesting and the game introduces new elements like icy blocks, lava and falling blocks as you progress. I personally also love that there are multiple weapons with varying effects and special attacks, different armor and a really neat buff system which are called relics. Similar to rings in Dark Souls they give you permanent buffs like increased speed, increased magic bar or increased defense as long as you are using the relic with that skill. Many to acquire so the game stays feeling very fresh, which is also due to how much thought went into the level design. If this game had been on the SNES (and if feels like it could have been) it would have been a hit. The controls are very responsive which made navigating the levels so much easier. This game is a steal at 2 or 3 dollars and I personally can’t recommend it enough. Outstanding retro platformer which is among the best I’ve seen on IOS.

Genuinely great. I'm always wary of touch controls in these games, but Goblin Sword surprised me. It's responsive and manageable, allowing the challenge to come from the game not the controls. Great game one of the best.... This game is overall great and I think it's one of the best games I've ever played. Sure it may not look the best via graphics but it has good gameplay overall. Here are my pro's for this game. Pros: It has a good variety of weapons to choose from. It has pretty good gameplay overall. You can also get relics witch are like special attachments to help you kill off monsters. The levels are well created and good for casual players. The controls fell easy to use making it easy to move around the levels. There is bosses. Cons: The bosses can be very challenging. There is no long range weapons like bows ,wand etc... There needs to be more updates for this game. There weren't as many levels as I expected to be in this game. This is also MY OPINION so don't go complaining at me about my OPINIONS so this is my review for this great game later alligator

Perfect Pixel Platforming. Got this game years ago, don’t recall where I heard about it. Maybe TA. Played it for a while. It was good. Solid. Not spectacular, but smooth and rewarding. Then, a few months later, came back and played some more. On again, off again, been playing this for three years. It’s still a great little platformer. Now, my four year old son absolutely loves it, and is honing his 2d skills. Every day he asks to play Goblin Sword. Every day I smile and play with him life-for-life level-for-level. Just like when I was a boy. Can’t recommend more strongly than that. 😆

Fun game but controls are shoddy. Decided to re download the game since it’s been a while, I’ve loved this game since the beginning. However, the controls were never this bad. Looking at other reviews it seems like other people are experiencing the same thing. I even took the developers advice and moved the controls around however the buttons still freeze up making this game virtually impossible to play.

Wow, after all the freemium and incremental pay nonsense; here comes a game that's not only pay once and play (and cheap mind you) but it is an actual GAME, going back to the old days of platforming hack n slash, the retro style is done well without shoving it in your face and the levels actually get challenging, I keep burning out my battery from playing this game too much.

Solid. Outside of mutant mudds this is the best platform I have found on the iPhone. It's got lots of levels, that you will have to replay to unlock and discover other levels and items. Lots of secrets etc. easily hours and hours of fun. 100% recommended

If you have less than 10$ and want to buy an app, don't get this one, you'll regret it. If you got a lot for ur birthday or something, get it to experience this type of game. Frustrating controls. It’s a good game but the jump control is really inconsistent which adds an unnecessary complexity to getting through some levels when you need to do a dbl jump. It could just be on iPhone 8’s, but looking at other reviews I’m not the only one with this ‘glitch’.

Stunning game!. This game is amazing and I'm having a blast playing it however I was wondering if you could implement a feature where the armour could actually protect you from hits from enemies and other objects. Other than that I give it five stars!!

Best app. Apple weren't lying about pay once and play for this app. Really great, there is at least one month worth of gameplay here! Very challenging as well, some deaths felt a bit cheap but they were far and few and I could understand them. It's been a while since I've played a challenging game but not without the massive difficulty spikes which is probably the best aspect of this game, there is a steep learning curve in the later levels but it gradually takes you there so it's more challenging but not cheap either (looking at you angry birds 2). Really glad a new chapter came out as well! I was thinking this game might've been forgotten as well! One of the best apps out there, I don't usually take the time to review apps and that's when they ask me to. I haven't even been asked to leave a review but I still love it so much I decided to anyway.

Good controlling, fulfilling, rewarding, excellent learning curve. Excellent learning curve. Not too difficult to be frustrating and repetitive, not too easy to feel bored so that you are thrilled every time you found a new path leading to a loot. Boss levels are great and need some trials and practice and finally able to pass, which is quite fulfilling. Last time I saw such a well designed game is on PC called Guacamelee. More fun is that the developers are updating it, adding more levels and new weapons. Btw, the controlling is smooth simple in iPad, best controlling for action games. In total, best game in iPad and probably one of the best light action game in all platforms

Fantastic gem of a platformer. It's nigh on impossible to find a platformer with decent controls on touch screen, let alone pack some great levels and enemies. Goblin sword knocks it out the park. The controls are spot on, the graphics amazing, and there's almost no glitches in the game. There's also a lot of levels! It's taken me about 6 months to complete all levels and quests, and I can only think of 2 or three times the game ran anything other than perfect - I can't say that about 1 old school platformer. Only minor grievance I had was that once I'd completed every quest, the last one 'view good ending' didn't mark as complete however many times is did it, but really that was a small fault given the hours of fun and side missions in the quests area. Very highly recommended - I already miss having things to complete!

Like the good old days. This 2D platformer reminds me a lot of games like Megaman, simple enough game design which changes every level but also has a smooth increase in difficulty. If you're looking for a cheap, 2D platformer that's actually good and doesn't have micro transactions, get this one!! They also occasionally upgrade the game - for free - adding new levels and bosses. Most bosses have some sort of a cheese, but are otherwise fun.

Magnificent Game!. Goblin Sword is the most outstanding platformer on the App store. I've been looking over the last few years for a game that was similar to Wonderboy in Monsterland. A fast paced action platformer with rpg elements from the 1980's and, my favourite game. Well, this is it. The gameplay in Goblin Sword is extremely fluid, controls are very precise and responsive. Great but.... It is a really fun game. It's very simple and challenging. Secrets are everywhere. But I only wish it had a story to it, instead of just killing enemies and jumping and finding collectibles. Kinda like super Mario bros. a simple story. A princess gets kidnapped and you have to go through levels to save her. Just like that. Not a big narrative story like the withcher 3 or rise of the tomb raider. But a simple one like super Mario bros. Oh and also please consider making a sequel.

Nice looking game, incredibly boring.. It looks great, the music is nice, the controls are tight, but if you are looking for anything with a decent story, look else where. As much as I want to love this game, I can't seem to get over how boring it is, every level feels relatively the same, and no plot to keep me driven, it just feels empty. The charm of good music, great graphics and tight platforming controls aren't enough to hold my attention. Games like these are a dime a dozen, so many like it. While I admit this one stands above others with its high production value, there isn't enough there to keep me wanting to play. Honestly, I might play it on and off for a while, but I don't see myself loving this game. The game throws you into it with some cheap clichéd line about some evil guy getting some sword, and he wants to control the earth or something, and you're the only one that can stop him. I shouldn't be so critical of a game this simplistic, but I wanted to get my thoughts out, thanks for reading.

Repetitive. It feels like a not-as-polished version of Swordigo, which is much older yet somehow better. The worst part is that if you die, you start all over, re-collecting the same items you did a moment ago, over and over until you pass the level. It gets old after a short while. The double jump mechanics are flakey. I don’t like how you have to find a secret area that if you miss jumping to, often you are unable to go try again without restarting the entire stage from scratch as it locks you out with barricades, bridges or whatever. Secret areas aren’t too creative, just run into all the walls and you find them. Changes the flow of gameplay when you have to just run into all walls. There should be stats on armor/weapons so we know which one to purchase. The good side, is that they added some unique elements like summons. Sound effects are well done but music is repetitive. I really wanted to like this game more! Will keep playing and update my review if needed!

A pure gem of a mobile game. I can't believe how great a game like this is on a mobile platform. Truly a must have for fans of old school platform and adventure games. The look and feel is amazing, and simply a great way to pick up and play or get lost. You can't beat the price either. I can't say enough good things about this!

My only reward was a great casual experience for around a buck. v2.5—Goblin Sword's development team has met the gold standard for continued support on iOS! This is THE most polished side-scroller ever developed for the platform.

Golden. A good, polished platformer. Each level has two chests and three crystals that you can find in between beating down enemies. That is basically the whole game besides beating bosses. It can get challenging finding the chests and Krystal's, like solving a good puzzle. The enemies are a little easy to beat, but it doesn't detract from the gameplay.

Playing through the game is fun, but I wish there was some way to play with friends. Actually good.. I am close to finishing it with almost every secret, and have to say it’s really good. Those bad reviews complaining about it being too hard or bad controls or horrible collision boxes … those are simply poor gamers. For 2 dollars it’s a bargain.

We want more. This game is single-handedly the absolute best game on the App Store. I completed everything 100% in the game and I was never bored in doing so. I can only ask for more content.

Heart potions. The game is awesome but the reason I put four stars is because I can't figure out how to get more hearts I have 4 I potions but I can't use them I don't know how there needs to be an update where when you're looking at the world map you can click on heart potions person thing like that

No music or SFX. I’ve only played it for a few minutes, seems wonderful and fun, but there’s no music or sound effects. I went to settings and made sure they were turned on. Still nothing. I have an iPhone 8. Please fix and I will change to 5 stars

Fantastic. Fantastic old school rpg game... I would pay for updates honestly. More levels and bosses... Maybe make some more purchasable items... (Like gold and diamonds to craft into swords) took me about 6-8 hours to beat and 12 hours to max everything out

Outstanding. I've been playing his for a few hours and it's probably the most captivating mobile game I've ever played. If you're a fan of hack and slash games and like the story elements of an RPG then this will blow you away. The price is too low for the sheer amount of content.

Absolutely Fantastic. I was really looking for either a dungeon crawler or a 2-D rpg side scroller and this game incorporated both. I even convinced my friends to have a friendly competition throughout the game. Goblin Sword was just the game I was looking for! I do hope however that you do continue to create and release new levels with new loot! Thanks for your game!

Fantastic!!. I do not usually take the time to write reviews, but this game was awesome. Nice classic feel while still being challenging. It’s really nice to not deal with IAPs as well. I highly recommend playing this game. I hope they make a sequel, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

1# game to get. Love this game. I just hope they keep expanding and adding more levels to this already great game. Still waiting for more new levels, are they coming? I keep getting updates, and no new levels yet.

Great game. I have literally always come back to this game. It is great and no matter how hard I try I can’t ever stop coming back. I hope that the developer is just laying in wait to either update the game with even more content or possibly developing a sequel.

Perfect Game. I have been playing games on iOS for many years and am always trying and deleting. This is honestly the first game I have played to total completion. The touch controls are easy and respond great. The levels are challenging and if you are collecting everything it never gets boring. This is an amazing RPG and an immense value.

Must play for old school fans!. I am a big fan of 16bit era games and hack and slash and this game is a lot of fun. Nice controls and graphics. Fun to play. Best of all hidden areas to search for and great combat. Love the game! Would love to see it on playstation or Nintendo so I could play with a controller.

One of my favorites!. This is one of my favorite games of all time. I have played the entire thing through three times. Tons of replay value. Lots of secrets and side quests. Very reminiscent of original Nintendo games. Would highly recommend!

Dying and restarting with nothing. I played this after playing Swordigo which was awesome. This game is great, but dying in the stage shouldn't cause you to restart with nothing at all from the beginning. You should be able to keep your crystals and treasure chests for that stage. This is not a game on a game cartridge with low memory. Have it remember that much.

Please... MAKE ANOTHER ONE!! :D LOVE IT!!. I don't know what else to say, there's always a critic on every game to make it better, but for this, the developer kept it old school right in the retro games, pixel, specs, couldn't be more than happier as it is. Loot, Treasure, Strategy, Storyline, Gameplay... simply the best. Highly worth it, and recommend that you get it too 👍

Solid Platformer. Platformers on mobile devices have always been difficult to enjoy, because the buttons are also on the game screen, but when it's kept to simple NES-style controls, it seems to work. Enjoyed the game's simplicity, and felt compelled to play it all the way through to collect everything in the game.

Best game ever without a doubt.. I downloaded this game years and years ago and I still come back every once in a while to play it, never gets old. Love it! Just wish it never ended.

Great platformer. Perhaps the best “8-bit” style platformer I’ve played on the iPhone. Great graphics, easy controls, and all sorts of hidden power ups that keep the game intriguing. Be sure to equip your player to best match the levels you’re playing.

Amazing(Please add more!!!!). This game is amazing. It is so addictive and is very fun. I rarely write reviews but decided to write one for this game because it is exceptional. I finished the game and was hoping there were new areas but there weren’t :(. Please add more!!!!! Make the boat go somewhere!!!

Good game, but armor doesn't do anything.. I love this game got it on sale when it was 99 cents and glad had no in app purchases and is a lot more then it's worth, but I did not know the armor did nothing. I have wasted my precious coins, when I could have gotten more powerful weapons or powers. Plz add an armor disclaimer or give them some sort or protection and/or abilities. Thx!👍😼

Wish there was more!!!. Great game that forces you to improve but not unattainable. Didn’t grow up a gamer or even own a system now, but thoroughly enjoyed completing every challenge and quest this game offered. Only wish there were top secret levels that unlock after the quests are complete. Maybe with a puzzle focus? ;)

Has potential, but needs work. The biggest problem are the controls, there locked in on place. So for big screen devices this is a problem. Then it's very hard to jump and attack at the same time. You can't develop a game with joystick controls on a touch screen. Other than that the game has potential.

Amazing, but. I think goblin sword is an amazing game my brother and I play it every day but I just think that the final dark caves boss needs to be reworked. It is way to hard and I beat the giant snake so that says a lot. And thx if you did make it easier.

Buy first think second. Look, I’ll be honest here, I play this game every day, I’ve done that for 3 years, I already know all the levels and have all the weapons, I play it while I watch shows or talk to people I don’t want to talk to, I must have over 5000 hours in this a minimum, this game is part of my life, just buy it.

Stunning. I absolutely love it! Although it would be nice if an update dropped it feels so abandoned it’s a truly fantastic game and I want to see it evolve with new content every once in a while!

An iOS RPG at its best!. I'm not big on mobile games, but I saw this and decided to give it a try. I really enjoy the game. I think it is one of the better mobile RPGs in recent memory. However, I'd like to give it some recommendations to make a little better. - A character creator/editor - A character upgrade system (stats) I really don't have any problems with it. It runs perfectly fine and I haven't had any bugs or crashes. I really like the game and I think you should give it a try, especially if you're into RPGs. 4/5

Old School. Great old-school adventure platformer. Lots of collectibles and new weapons to find, levels are short and sweet (perfect for a mobile game), and the challenge is just right. And best of all, it's a full game, no microtransactions!

My Favorite. Hands down my favorite game I’ve purchased on the App Store. I love the music, graphics, tight controls, fun gameplay and variety of weapons and enemies. It’s a challenge to 100% each level. Even a couple years later I still haven’t found anything to beat it.

Worth Every Penny. Great puzzle platformer! Awesome for sitting down and playing for about an hour or so. I spend two hours a day riding a commuter train to and from my campus, and this game is fun and engaging enough to make that time fly by. It's very kid-friendly as well if you're looking for a game for your little one to play.

Excellent platformer, responsive controls. Loved this game, challenging and wildly entertaining. Different swords and artifacts change how you’ll play each level, However finding all the loot can be time consuming- lots of hidden nooks and crannies

Best iOS game on the App Store.. Super awesome, great detail, design, depth, and beautiful sprites. Challenging as well! One of the best platform, puzzle, and adventure games I’ve ever played However, there is one small bug or something when you bounce on springs. After the high bounce from the spring, the the next regular jump only works 50% of the time.

Ehh. This was a great game that lasted my a couple years to beat. But that’s the problem, there’s nothing new in 2 years and the last update was a screen support for iphone x. This game is great don’t get me wrong but there is nothing new. If the developers add a new world or some new swords then I’d probably redownload but in the meantime go check out deadcells. It’s pretty much goblin sword but better.

Incredible game. This game is very creative and intellectually challenging. I play it all the time. I love all the puzzles and quests it has to offer. Although, I would like to see another update with some more levels and gear.

Best platform we on iPhone!!. I beat this over a year ago and still haven’t found a game that quite holds up to the smooth and amazing gameplay that comes with this platform. I hope they make a second one soon.

Best game on IOS. Goblin Sword has been my favorite game on iOS since it came out. You have tons of levels tons of weapons, armor, and items that are all customizable to the player. It even has a challenge throughout it which is collecting chests and gems. Hands down best game.
