Great journalism- terrible App organization. I am a subscriber; an “Insider”. There must be a better way to organize the stories on this App. Just today (15. Nov. 2020) I’m trying to find the podcast featuring Marsha Gessen for members only. Impossible for me to find it scrolling around endlessly. Finally found it, but it’s locked! Oh, must have be accidentally logged out. I again scroll around endlessly until I finally find the login page within the “Subscribe Now” page. Log in, try to go to the Gessen podcast page, F**K. Can’t find it again? Please. - Please do a nice redo of the Beast app. I also subscribe to the New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal. Sorry, but the organization of their apps are light years better!

Through It All. Muddling through a pandemic and a surreal presidency, the one thing solid and dependable is The Daily Beast. The level headed, progressive perspective makes the news bearable and provides hope. Through all of this nightmare, I treasure The Beast.

Enhancement Request: Search. The app isn’t bad, but it could be way better. Wouldn’t it be great if I could find all the articles written by one of your editors at large like Molly or Rick —or what if your app could notify me when they post a new piece?

More better than web version.. for me it is much more convenient to read content from the application than from the site.

Distracting ads. The app is COVERED in those animated ads for casinos and credit score offerings. It is so distracting that is almost impossible to use. I read it through my browser now.

Getting trashy. Articles are getting trashy, eg the flurry over someone’s shoe height. And, the ads are distracting, especially the ones that pop open as you’re scrolling, eg Monopoly. I will unsubscribe if this continues.

Just became a member. Have enjoyed The Beast for a long time but the dynamic duo of Jong and Wilson made me want to read and hear more and (most of all) support all The Beast stands for. The fact that Molly and Rick (who would have been oil and water in the past) mix so well to make the perfect cocktail antidote to the times we are working through gives me strength and hope and (just as important) makes me laugh when there is so little of that about. Keep up the fight—it ain’t over yet!

Great news. Enjoy the point of view! News that keep Trumpian Zealots honest. Keep digging for truth and not give in to fantastic lying! Where is the America I once knew? The cockroaches are coming out of the woods!

Ads are ridiculous. Gosh I can’t even listen to a track because the annoying ads stop all music. Also annoying to have every other story be an article on something they wanna sell

Scam. I have repeatedly contacted their support because they took my $35 and they won’t let me on the website to download the app again it doesn’t work it doesn’t work just doesn’t work there thieves These thieves, thieves, thieves, thieves Do not give these people any money They’re thieves I’m not sure the Better Business Bureau and then to Apple I guess

No Search Function?. It seems there’s no search function, which really lowers the usefulness.

Every day. Wouldn’t be a complete day without at least a portion of the Beast…

News Source. Daily Beast provides a trustworthy in depth news source.

Love the content but the ads are too much!. Every scroll is met with an accidental click on an ad! I can’t scroll without playing hopscotch over the ads. The advertisers are likely seeing an incredibly high CTR as a result but there’s no question these are accidental engagements. Very frustrating experience!

I Read Everything. I can get my hands (iPad) on, from the sublime to the outer limits of ridiculous. That means I spend a lot on subscriptions, tho I (my wife) set limits, therefore I am forced to choose (cue sounds of quiet sobbing). The BEAST is near the tippy top of my list of favorites. One of the first I scan in the morning, then fill my time with during my very barely busy day. Oh, and just so you don’t get the wrong idea, I play lots of tennis too. What a lucky bastard I am! Please keep up the good work with your very gifted writers. Thanks.

One of my favorite news sources. Combines the best of heavy commentary with the buoyancy of a silicious story to make for the perfect deep read.

Good Opinion Site. Besides Matt Lewis the site is great, LOL! The red tag lines are a bit annoying, you get stuck on their intention and relevance before clicking. Nice variety of stories and odd news.

Strange name; great coverage. Reportage is in a natural voice, as people talk. Irreverent. Some good scoops, as well, credited on other service. Thanks, Delta Bravo. And that’s the way it is…

Truth. Prints only news worth reading

Not a news junky. But these reporters and writers are quite talented. Thanks to them for all of their hard work. I’m very happy to be a subscriber.

The latest news. I love The Daily Beast because it’s got the latest news with intelligent commentary and I appreciate its type of content, which takes a dim view of Trumpian antics. But the Beast covers news of all sorts and is not limited to that and they do it well.

I love DailyBeast!!!. DailyBeast is simply the best news outlet there in this country at this critical time in our country. I learn so much from DailyBeast that I could not have found from any other source. I absolutely love DailyBeast, and the best part of all is that I can count on DailyBeast for the truth all the time. Thanks to all the hard working reporters there for their diligent and valuable work. Sincerely, Grady Ned Shoaf

Dark Mode anyone?. I keep checking Settings to see if/when Daily Beast might possibly offer Dark Mode. Realize there are those who don’t care for or even want a Dark Mode, I love it for two reasons. Lower battery usage while viewing Daily Beast, and much, much easier for my eyes. Practically any App I have on my device that offers dark mode, I’ve chosen that selection

I used to use this App daily, no more. I actually downloaded an app that let me see exactly what app’s completely disregard privacy requests on my iPhone and this app was the #1 offender and sold or shared my data repeatedly even when I specified not to by engaging with their less than premium ad content. I literally said no personalization with the Google ad. And the very next ad the setting was on and of course the garbage ad followed. So, bye Beast, I love your content. I pay you and you still abuse my good will. I will be canceling.

Subscription signup page “Unsecure”, some links don’t work. I got this so I could read Betsey Woodruff Swan and other great political investigative journalists. Paid for $1/mo/30 days. But cannot manage topics due to unlinked links today. If you fix this, I’ll renew & update review. So far, not as much fun as I thought w cheat sheets, etc. due to links!

Terrific Stuff. I thoroughly enjoy reading most of your articles. Especially now with the election 2 months away. Keep them coming! Looking forward to celebrating VT Day!

Fixed article sidebar. There is no option to hide the sidebar that has the list of article in it. As a result, you can not read articles in fullscreen. Nearly half of the screen is devoted to this sidebar. It’s extremely obnoxious.

Search Function. Why doesn’t this app have a search function? I like reading Rick’s & Molly’s columns but they are hard to find. Seems like a simple fix since DB charges for subscriptions. I’m thinking about canceling since the app and website lack a search capability.

Infuriating app I regret getting. Aside from every third piece being a bizarre profile of a random bartender as if he was some kind of celebrity, or a review of some cocktail recipe or liquor label, most of the good content is "inside" and requires an additional subscription charge. Worse, the app has SO many (and such obnoxious) ads and pop-ups that the app crashes my phone nearly every time. The app also wont run if you have pop-up blockers running.

Stories could be shorter. I love your reporting, but I keep thinking that you use 5 words instead of 1. Please learn to say the same thing with more concise words,

No problems so far. App runs smoothly and delivers the great journalism they are known for!! No problems with bad connectivity either.

Needs a search function. The app is very nice but needs a search function. I frequently find articles on the website (on iPhone) but can’t find them in the app

Daily Beast is my default news read every day.. Between the Los Angeles times, New York Times, Washington Post, Yahoo! News, Apple news, etc., I select my DailyBeast app first every time I open my phone to read about the day’s events, the latest political apocalypse, movies, hot new TV streaming shows, etc. I even pay attention to their ad-sponsored stories. The only problem with my DailyBeast app? It’s addictive.

It is so hard to figure I out how t LISTEN to.. I love the new abnormal and want to listen to the bonus issues. I can always READ it but the site is difficult for me to figure out how to listen. I’m going to stop paying for the bonus issues it frustrates me too much.

Enjoying the subscription... mostly. The articles are good and most of them very thorough. I’m not a fan of the tabloid style headlines and layout though. Too foxy for my taste! I also don’t feel the “insider” subscription is worth it.

New Layout - not great. I don’t care for the new layout. I liked the Cheat Sheet having the column of headlines on the left and articles on the right. Same for the home page - though the layout there is a little better than the cheat sheet.

Why is this app so highly rated?. For a change of scenery, I surrendered a cherry, $3/mo subscription to Washington Post and forked over a year's subscription to Daily Beast. At MINIMUM, the ads should have been removed. Where photos relating to the articles should be, there are ads instead – like 3 or 4 ads per page. The photos related to the articles are small, and it is not possible to enlarge them. There are no "account" features that I consider pretty basic, like the ability to save articles, comment on articles, set up notifications, etc. Also, there is no way to search for articles or subjects. What I am paying for should have been completely free. At LEAST remove the ads.

Love the content but. Dear god the ads! I’m a paid subscriber and I enjoy listening to music while reading and your ads consistently take over my device while scrolling an article. It’s frustrating

Pay for advertising?. I subscribed thinking this news group would provide interesting and useful content. Nope. Disappointing. And then, they have ‘stories’ that are just stupid ads. What a total waste of everything.

Ads with sub?. Reporting is top notch, app seems fine, but am I supposed to be seeing advertisements when I’m logged in and I have a subscription?

OBNOXIOUS ads and glitches. I like their reporting and they had a good deal for an annual subscription, so I doled out the $35… But when I pay for news I don’t expect to be bombarded with advertisements and glitchy apps. Frequently when I open the app all of the frames where there would be news stories are occupied by obnoxious repeated advertisements for the same product (likely a high-end source of revenue for the beast). After struggling to get the app to finally show the actual news, often times news stories will open to broken links. I shouldn’t have to struggle this much for something that I’m paying for. I think I’m gonna ask for my money back.

You will never be able to contact customer service. I read the DailyBeast only through my browser. I already rage quit once last year, but I downloaded it again and have had the same problem. I cannot access my account password page to change my password. The app keeps telling me I need to reset my password because it is expired. They send me emails that sends me to a page with FAQs. I have not been able to change my password and this app is useless to me. If I get on the app to read anything, there is a big subscription, login banner at the top that I cannot get rid of.

Lena Dunham. That article was so disgusting. Once again we go after people who want to help and get attacked.

It's alright. I mostly like it. I'm a subscriber, but sometimes the app won't show me a story and have to go read it on the web anyway. In the story's place is a form to sign up for email newsletters. It doesn't make any difference if I sign up for the newsletter or not, it just doesn't show the story. It's kind of pointless. Now that I'm here complaining about stuff, also I really don't like that I can't use my password manager to log in. They have some kind of weird form controls that aren't really username/password text boxes in the normal sense. They can't be auto filled and must always be pasted into.

76 yr old female • no party affiliation •from the south. The Beast Inside is the only digital subscription for which I have paid. Keep Going!

Harder to log into than my bank. Joined Beast Inside, but hard to use on the app, which constantly tries to resell beast inside. Log into the app, takes you out of the app to your email to a login link, back to the app where it doesn’t recognize me. My bank is easier to log into.

Login button doesn’t work. Bought a one year subscription and I think they are trying to drive business away. The account login button doesn’t work on the iPad app. Nor does the login button work on the Safari or Firefox iOS apps for the iPad.

Not Filled With Hubris. Good solid reporting, not full of flowery words. The main reason I bought a subscription is that I can adjust the font size. Easy on these old eyes. Why can’t every news app do this?

INSIGHTFUL AND ‘OF THE MOMENT’ REPORTING. I read The Daily Beast as one of many national news sources for current events. Their staff does careful diligence when reporting on news of the moment, constructs concise narratives that inform and on occasion entertain without sacrificing accuracy. I am a Beast Insider (subscriber) to support online news vehicles. The New Abnormal podcast, hosted by Molly Jong Fast and Rick Wilson is an additional draw, I recommend giving a listen! - c

Reality will win!. I’m proud of this fine resource and share the articles often.

A user nightmare. The app has great content, but it’s impossible to search. Too frustrating. Not sure I’ll continue subscribing.

Convenient. Always on my phone. Available any time and place. Up to the minute

Decent enough app but why the ads?. With a paid subscription to The Daily Beast I shouldn't have to see Google ads. This is a deal breaker for me and I'm going to delete the app. Other than that, the interface and organization are fine. I'll wait until they streamline things a bit more and dump the ads.

new abnormal listener. the navigation to get to listen to the behind the paywall podcast content is terrible. great content thats hard to get to. pls improve

iPad App Lacks Full Content!. Unlike the iPhone, the iPad version only gives you Top Stories & Cheat Sheet. Not acceptable! And then, even with a paid subscription, you still get ads.

Simply the best. Hard to beat The Daily Beast for snapshots, depths, and unique perspectives.

Software Buggy from the Start.. Refused to accept login = death at birth.

Niche news. Perfect as a complement to major newspaper coverage. Short and snarky and regularly refreshed.

The Daily Beast is what a tabloid rag would’ve been in Nazi Germany. This truly is Hitlerian tabloid propaganda. You have to be incredibly ignorant or gullible to take TDB seriously.

Ads. Ads, ads, ads. Took only one look to get my fill!

Hate this app. Worst developed app on my phone. I’m an “Inside Member” and hate it.

Excellent weekly news app. I love the Beast because the range of “news” is compelling - history, science, politics, current events, you name it. The app is easy to use, just scroll through the headlines and pick a topic. I like how the progress bars show how much I have read, and how the stories are checked off as I finish them. I call it weekly news because it is not the “latest”, but there are plenty of those, so this fills the gap of background and extraneous news. Love it all, and the app is easy to use.

Great stuff.. Interesting, non-salacious and well written.

What happened to swipe navigation?. Love he Daily Beast content. Always have. But the app has removed swipe navigation, which is cumbersome and a backward step. Why??

Enough with the links!. It's like you don't actually want us to read the articles that we would otherwise think you are very enthused that we are reading (you are literally keeping score of the number after all) - how do we get through an article if every time we attempt to scroll to read, and make the mistake of tapping the part of the screen with imbedded link-text, we are INSTANTLY taken to another article on the web? The twit who thought this up clearly never tried to *use* it before hitting the "go" button on publish. Let's re-think this before your app is skipped, permanently, ok? I would love to reach the end of an article without being forcibly thrown from it multiple times. Your choice, not mine.

Nice App, some annoying behavior. Solid app, visually appealing and with a nice interface. Makes checking in on the world a pleasure. Two very annoying bugs / UI choices though: first, when scrolling, if you touch a link and then drag to scroll, you're then thrown to Safari and the link is opened. This happened a dozen or so times to me, all unintentional. This is inconsistent with all other apps as well - following a link should only happen if you tap it, not drag. Secondly, once you scroll to the bottom of the article and pause for a few seconds, the next article will peek up from the bottom. This is probably meant to happen if you scroll quickly into the bottom as a "momentum" type effect. As it is, it's distracting and unexpected.

Content Great! Operation Awful! 😡. Daily Beast is a reputable news organization, however they have put up an App that is so clunky as to render the good reporting and editorial content inaccessible. (1) The App only operates in portrait mode with no opportunity to switch to landscape. (2) When the App opens, it takes forever for content to become available, while the App seems to freeze. (3) The App provides an easy opportunity to delete an article you'd like to read, by simply sliding over the title pane. All matters concerned, I continue using it because of the great content, but I often can't get past the screen freezes, and I leave disappointed. FIX IT Daily Beast, so the App's not a beast to your users.

From Bad to Worse. All the time.

Fantastic News App. The Daily Beast has done a great job creating an app that makes their articles accessible and digestible. There is always a lot of content available with the Daily Beast and now there is a slick way to quickly find the articles that interest you, track what you've read, learn what you like to read, etc. It's great content and interface put together. Highly recommend to anyone who loves consuming interesting and thought provoking news content!

Okay. This app is functional, but it’s really hard to find articles on it that you know are there. No search feature.......seriously?...

Laughable. What an embarrassment this is! Name change recommendation: The Daily Least 😂😂😂😂

Pay attention. How about getting rid of the Chris Noth story after 2 months? Can’t be a mistake at this point and the fact that you are purposefully leaving it up speaks to lack of journalistic ethics

Unless you pay the subscription…. …YOU AIN’T READING ANYTHING HERE!

My go to news source. I rely on TDB for timeliness, accuracy and a soupçon of snark!

Easy reading. What a change! The newly formatted Daily Beast is so user friendly, I just spent over an hour reading away without realizing it. It used to be frustrating trying to navigate without being thrown off the site. Now, I can open what I want and read the whole article. Finally! Always loved the articles, both fluff and serious; now I get to read them instead of occasionally catching an interview on MSNBC. Thanks, software warriors!

Search function ?. Why the hell isn’t there a search function?

Disappointing. I like the Daily Beast website, but the app is awful. The loading time at each start-up is so ridiculously slow, that most of the time, I give up. When I do get through, the content is mixed. Some terrific articles mixed with many others that are uninteresting to me. I don't really see the point in being able to swipe to skip, if the only thing it does is remove the headline. It just seems like a feature that should be used to help personalize my reading experience. After "skipping" every fashion article there has been in the last month (and it's been quite a few), it would be nice if they just stopped showing up in my feed at all.

I don’t write reviews. I don’t write reviews

Ok, needs improvement. I like the concept of the app but the article selections I receive are terrible sometimes. Also I noticed that on your website there is a menu, where you can select a subgroup of articles that were posted that day like books, movies, politics instead of just taking what you give me. A better way to run this app would be to do a questionnaire the first time to open the app to get an idea of a persons interests to get you started and then learn more about them through the articles the choose to skip or read. I do love reading articles about what's going on in our world but that is not my only interest and all I get are world articles and entertainment. Ok, but about to be deleted I can go to my CNN app and get better variety.

Stop with the forced App Store visits. Stop forcing users to go to some websites that leads to the App Store. How annoying and unprofessional is this?

Tabloid garbage. This should be in the humor section.

Not that good. I didn’t like the APP . Didn’t find the articles well written.

One of the Worst News Apps. Slowly, inevitably all of the news sites I read got an app… Except for the Daily Beast. One of my go to sites, they finally got an app that was a mixed blessing at best. It's so buggy! If you want to open it, be prepared to wait a minute at a minimum before it unfreezes and you can actually read any of the articles therein. I actually used my phone's stopwatch to time it… And then after timing the freeze wait time, when I went back in to the app I had to wait another minute while the article that I had just waited to unfreeze, unfreezed again. That's right! If you go out of the daily beast app while reading and go back in you have to wait a minimum of one minute for it to unfreeze again. One minute! Doesn't sound too bad but if you're on a quick lunch break and just want to catch up on news articles having to wait for an app to unfreeze and actually let you read anything can be a bit of a pain. Fix it!

Simple, quick and innovative. The app landscape of news/journalism is littered with awful experiences. This app isn't one of them. It placed reading and relevancy first. It's refreshingly simple and intuitive. Articles appear instantly upon tap or swipe. When it comes to delivering intended functionality, this app satisfies. It's not over designed. It's smart in its focus on minimalism. Kudos for creating something innovative yet intuitive. This is a positive step forward. One that I hope other publishers admire and aspire to themselves.

Unusable. This used to be one of my go-to apps for my daily intake of news media. At some point several months back they made some changes to it and it is become almost completely unusable ever since. I don't know if it's bogged down with ads that won't properly load or something, but every time I open it, I have about a 10% success rate on actually opening and completing an article. It either crashes completely or is incapable of scrolling through the main page to choose from the articles... How hard is this? It's a very simple design with a couple of news articles added per day. How they can't pin this down and get it to be super streamlined and functional is beyond me!!!

Want to use it constantly. Avoid it cuz it's painful. Really want to like the app and like the ability to load up on stories then go offline to read (on planes etc) but all other reviews are spot on: incredibly slow, hangs and stops responding, sometimes get the wrong article.... It is an excellent frustration generation device, but a very poor story consumption app. I really really hope they sort this and fix it. Minor point - I find it very irritating it does a full top header and blocks the system bar particularly the clock. Having to entirely click out of the app just to watch / check the time while on the go is a huge drag. Show the system time people! Make it an option if you want the "overclean" look to be default!

Update 7.0 is cluttered, hard to read. A daily enjoyment - reading the Beast - now a pain in the a$&. I’m a Member who likely won’t join again.

Obnoxious Loud ads Play without Warning!!. I paid for a subscription to the Daily Beast because I thought supporting independent journalism important; however, I am now being inundated with loud obnoxious advertisements that start playing without warning. So, here I am trying to read quietly in the waiting room of a doctor’s office, or in a conference room, and this loud crap starts spewing out of my phone telling everyone I am not doing what I ought to be doing. This may be a trend among journalism apps, but it stinks, and why should I be paying for it? So beware!! I don’t feel like I should have to turn my phone volume completely off before opening an app, because I invariably forget to turn it back up, and miss something important. Now I got to figure out how to get back into ITunes, and get a refund on my subscription before deleting this highly irritating news feed. There are plenty of others that aren’t doing this.

👍. Phenomenal app. Highly diverse reads, and conscious of those strapped for time, but still looking to stay informed (perfect for on-the-go). Only technical issue I'm experiencing is the inability to share articles via message (note I'm using an iPhone 5 that runs on iOS 7.1.2 with the most recent update). Really disruptive for user engagement. Other than that, The Daily Beast is a resource about as baller as T.J. Henderson getting wasted and throwing a party while Floyd is out of town on business, and despite wavering from Marcus and Yvette.

Sleek app, great content. Everything loads quickly and the animations are smooth. The sharing/etc features are easy to access, yet don't get in your way. That's a big win that a lot of other news apps don't have: putting The content first. The content is shown front and center, with everything else in the design getting out of your way. Topic following is a neat feature that I imagine I'll get good use out of. Highly recommended!

Progressive?. The article on Schmidt has factual discrepancies that I can prove as a layman. If you cannot publish truth you shouldn’t publish at all. The author & this publication, in this instance, is no better than FOX or OAN. Disgraceful & disappointing.

Pretty good take on current events. 👍🇺🇸

They hijack you to write a review. So I give it one star. Leave me alone.

Can you please make the New Abnormal podcasts for Beast Insiders (I am one) discoverable?. Can you please make the New Abnormal podcasts for Beast Insiders (I am one) discoverable???? No links to the podcast ever work. Weak sauce people 😒

GREAT SOURCE. If you want broader coverage with less bias than MSM, I recommend I DailyBeast.

App Crashes Immediately/Won't Open. The app is a really cool app and I used it before a lot. Now for the last month or two the app pretends to open but immediately crashes. My phone is up to date and the app is the latest version but constantly crashes. I think they need to update the app and work on some serious big improvements. When reading through articles I wish it wouldn't categorize you and show you "relevant" articles based on accidentally clicking on an entertainment story. So needs some big improvements but is a cool app and was laid out beautifully. Wish I could use it again.

Julia VDR. Always informative always fair always funny. Need I say more?

What’s better than the cheat sheet, you ask? Absolutely Nuttin’!. The solid journalism of daily beast writers is by itself something I would want access to on your phone - and on 1st screen (whatever the word for that is..?). But the thing with this app aside from all the people behind it and it’s own content is the brilliance of the cheat sheet. I realize as I write this that my enthusiasm sounds as though it may require a good curbing, but I tell you ... not the case. The top stories are always updated on the cheat sheet and neato part is that the beast gives you the gists of various top news produced by other outlets with option to read full articles when you have the time and interest in the complete article .... basically you always know what’s up when you check in with the beast and scan the cheat sheet. It gives you more than a headline and less than the complete article because you can’t read everything. It’s just right - concise and current and .... just check it out if apple news and msn news is throwing too much at you and all ya can do is read some headlines and feel overwhelmed and confused keeping track of what you may have want to read later .... and hey, mister beast, if ur listening, I want to say whoever thought of it is a person you should be really nice to because you want to keep them 4-eva!

Gimmicky features annoy hard.. The content is good of course, but the app is glitchy and gimmicky -- especially that "skip" feature. Touch the overly sensitive screen a certain way -- which only ever happens by accident -- and the article you're reading disappears permanently. It's been "skipped" as if you need to permanently delete any article you don't want to read, and much less one you're actually reading. It only happens when you're actually enjoying an article. The way the app tries to analyze your interests based on what you've read is inaccurate, silly, gimmicky and gets in the way of what you are actually trying to read. They are trying too hard to be different and it's not working. It's just annoying.

Obviously bias. Propaganda garbage. If it was a paper I wouldn’t let my dog pp on it👎🏾
