💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Great but I wish the invoice options were better. I love the app! Everything runs smoothly between the app and online. The only thing I don’t like are the invoice options. I use a different app to send customers invoices because this app doesn’t let you create one invoice and split the payment options and dates. I require a deposit immediately before the actual due date but I’d have to make 2 separate invoices instead of just one with the option to split payment. I also don’t like that when I create an invoice it doesn’t give the option to save. You HAVE to email the invoice to save it. I don’t use this app to send invoices I use square but I want to insert my potential income in QuickBooks as well. I would definitely like the option to just save an invoice without having to email it and maybe an option to be able to connect with the square account like it connects to bank accounts and PayPal.

Used to be good but is now complete garbage. This is getting out of hand. I’m now 2 weeks behind on invoices due to QB on going updates and issues. The app was just fine but then they decided to update everything and it’s all broken now. Should have just left it the way it was. Can’t even load invoices now. Invoices were previously out of order even if you sort them. I keep getting error msgs saying that can’t be done at this time, try again later. All my previous uploaded line items are all gone. The invoices look absolutely stupid now like a child made them with over half the page going to customers address and invoice numbers. Why is that much space being wasted on nothing? Plus they used to be aesthetically pleasing but now look plain and boring. I mean these updates are completely irrelevant and took the app backwards not forwards! What are y’all doing!?!? I have been on the phone for over an hour with no answer yet. I’m also online waiting for a rep and no help at all! I understand there’s hundreds of people without invoices right now but come on! Get this fixed. Your literally costing us all money. Why should we be paying for an app that doesn’t even do what it’s supposed to do?? Absolutely disappointed. If this isn’t fixed by Wednesday I’m leaving QB and telling everyone I know that uses QB to do the same. I will never give another good reference again for QB if this is not fixed soon.

So glitchy, not worth the $$$. I wish someone had told me to use some other app to track my freelance expenses when I was first starting out. At this point it would be a huge undertaking to change to another system, but QBSE is SO GLITCHY. Not worth what you pay for it AT ALL, and when I’ve raised issues with the support team, they’ve literally never been able to offer a solution. Auto-categorization “rules” I’ve created never work, and when I try to re-categorize something it missed, it says I already have a rule to that effect (I KNOW—then how come you didn’t categorize it?!). Different accounts will just stop syncing even though the system says they’re synced. For an independent contractor, missing a month or so of work expenses can make a big impact on my taxes due, so this is really a problem. Nobody at QB wants to solve these issues, or even offer a refund of a month’s subscription, they’re just happy to take your money and never speak with you. And for the invoicing feature, even when a customer pays by ACH/direct deposit, it takes a week for the funds to reach you. Embarrassingly bad app, I’d caution freelancers and independent contractors to stay away and find a different system.

Owner of quality handyman. I first saw this app when I had a vendor use it when I was paying them to haul off house debris and I checked onto it and realize that I could use it for my business and it’s working great. What I like is I can do this from my cell phone and don’t have to go home and do invoices from my computer. I can also push a button that says the invoice has been paid. And also it notifies me when the person I gave the voice to sees the invoice which I like very well. Because it’s a confirmation to me that they received it. now that I’ve had the app for several years, I’m not as happy with it as I was in the very beginning. I’m not getting notified when they see the invoice. Also when I’m trying to create an invoice, if I use the same wording as a previous invoice, which could’ve been several years ago, it tells me that I cannot use that and have to change it which is very frustrating because I do the same type of work over and over again, this recently started a few months ago when they raise the price on me and updated the app. I am now considering other options if this is not fixed within the next month.

More Than One Business. This App is one of the easiest to use and for the most part meets my needs; however, I’m one of those business owners that actually has 2 different small businesses. This app currently doesn’t allow for me to identify expenses and/or income for each company individually and appropriately throughout the year. This leaves me having to spend hours dividing everything out at the end of the year prior to filing my taxes. If there was an option to allow business owners to enter more than one company, that would be huge! Also, I currently operate both businesses out of a home office. This is mostly because I’m not large enough to need other accommodations at this time, but now with the COVID Pandemic, I personally think our society will be changed forever. With that being said, I feel we could use some additional (more descriptive) categories under “Business” such as those in the “Personal”. For example, I provide equine therapy services, so I’d love to see (all) the categories under “Personal” made available for selection under “Business.” Thank you, Small Louisiana Business Owner

Used to be a great App. I am a business owner that has been using Quickbooks for over 3 years. Through these last three years I have tried Payroll, Mileage tracking, expense tracking. Pretty much every aspect other than time keeping. This last year the company has really gone down hill. The customer service is not trained properly, they know enough to transfer yoh to an expert which is usually someone in a department that can’t be reached directly because these experts are mostly outsourced to third party companies, when customer service does get involved they make mistakes and don’t follow through with corrections. I waited 4 months for a payroll correction error to be handled by the supposed “experts” during this time I fell behind with my taxes because the IRS thought I owed several thousands more than I actually did. All this just to find out that they closed my case without notice or resolution and never told me. When I called to get help again they just sent me to talk to the Bookkeeping Team which is a paid service. They offered to fix the mistake if I paid $1500. Basically in the end the payroll error was never fixed, I stopped using QuickBooks for payroll and have a massive tax issue in my hands that is still unresolved. I recommend Quickbooks for very basic tracking and bookkeeping items and only if you are a small business otherwise you should look for a company that doesn’t outsource their services, including and most importantly Tax and Payroll corrections.

Couldn’t do without it. I used to use the basic service from joist. And yes it did a lot for free but when you get to a certain place with your business, having all your ducks in a row the easiest way possible means a lot and is worth it’s weight in gold. For me, this app seriously has changed my business for the better and has given me piece of mind come tax season because literally it’s one button click and all your expenses etc are transferred to turbo tax. Which is great for me since I don’t need an accountant at this stage in my business adventure. Thanks quick books I’ll be a customer for life as long as this app is here. One thing I would really love to see improved with this app is a estimate tab where I can create , get clients to sign off on, and email estimates. Currently I’m running this app with joist and there’s no integration on the estimate side so I’m having to manually transfer estimates from joist to self employed in order to invoice.

Start up company. Started my first company this year ! Did not realize how much paperwork was involved when it comes to dollar’s and cents . This app is a real game charger just put in all your information and it walks you through everything and if you get stuck there bot messaging service is there 24/7 just type in what you want to know and get a Instant reply QuickBooks plus TurboTax package is well worth it makes filing and paying your taxes quarterly very easy . If not sure if this is for you they offer different packages if you want to Star off small . Just remember if you upgrade from QuickBooks to QuickBooks/ TurboTax it takes 45 days to gather and combine all your information. I highly recommend this app for the small business working people that actually do the work makes life a lot easier ! If you don’t like it cancel at any time . You won’t !!

There is no support for Quick Books Self Employed. I am incredibly frustrated! I downloaded the app yesterday and added my account information for it to track. Cool. Today I signed on and it asked me to enter my name and occupation. The problem is the occupation. I’m a Real estate investor but it would not acknowledge any occupation outside of mining, ranching, farming, or animal breeding. It would not let me continue until I picked one of those occupations. I went ahead and picked mining just so I can move on and thought I would go back and edit the occupation. I can’t find anywhere on the app to make that edit, nor can I find any help support on the app. I logged online and was still unable to find my occupation to add it in Settings. I’ve called, I’ve emailed, I’ve tried reading through the questions answered by the community to no avail concerning my questions and I have not been able to get any support. I’ve spoken to two different Support operators but neither of them could help me with self-employed question. They just re-directed me back to the webpage. And here I am now frustrated and no where to ask for help. There’s no way I want to subscribe and pay for an app with no tech support.

Excellent mileage tracker. With all the other mileage trackers out there and you’re paying for the monthly fee. This app helps you with business expenses as well as tracking all trips wether personal or business related. This year alone I have over $5,000 in mileage for over 10,000 miles driven. It makes your accountant happy that you have this information. I tried running Doordash but that happened for about a few months. But with every trip wether it’s to fill up with gas to deliver food or drive to pick up orders. The mileage is all business related. If you’re heading to the store to pick up supplies for your business. The trip is business related. If you’re heading to the gas station to pick up food then heading to work driving. The trip to the gas station is business related. If you go anywhere related to your business, the mileage is deductible. I’m at the store now for business supplies while I’m typing out this review. This trip is business related and the mileage is deductible.

Love it now that I got help with how to use it. At first I was ready to cancel because I couldn’t figure out how to easily photograph receipts to keep track of businesses expenses. I have a jewelry business selling on Etsy and at Art fairs and wanted something that would let me enter expenses by photographing receipts and a way I could keep records on my iPhone and iPad rather than a computer. This program works very well for that . I contacted customer service and they told me I could enter receipts by going to transactions then either add expense manually or add income manually. This allows me to enter the amount then take a picture which stores the receipt. Perfect! The app will also track you mileage as you drive which is great for my purposes. I can quickly add income as I get checks and as I do an Art Fair. I also connected my Etsy account so it automatically imports my income and transaction fees. This is just what I was looking for.

Im not sure what happened. Its been months and i have sent multiple emails to their support team and havent heard a single thing back (keep in mind this is a PAID service and im receiving 0 replies to anything i send them for help). The app wont update on its own. I have to manually uninstall the app and reinstall it in order to update it which means i have to reconfigure it everytime which is sort of often since they keep pushing out updates every few days. Im not sure why this started happening but when i click update the icon goes grey and it sits for days and days doing nothing. No part of the icon loghts up like all of my other apps do when its partially updated or running through the update process. It literally sits greyed out the entire time. Im on an iphone xs and this happened with every one of the ios updates so i dont think os version matters anymore. I cant be the only one having this problem can i?? How does every other app i have install and update perfectly fine but this one refuses to update?? I restored my phone back to factory stock as well and that didnt resolve a single thing. Wth am i paying for at this point??

I don’t know what happened, but it used to be good. I’ve been using QuickBooks self-employed since the end of 2018, and it worked great for me for several years. I highly recommended it then, and the fact that it was linked with TurboTax made tax season really easy. Over this past year and a half though I’ve noticed it’s been more buggy, and customer service doesn’t seem to have good answers for it. For example, I track my business and personal expenses by linking my bank accounts, and as of last year the app suddenly can’t link with my main bank even though it had worked for years. I brought it to quickbooks attention several times, and it took months and a lot of calls for a ticket to remain open, and then I eventually got a reply basically saying that they’re aware of the issue, but it wasn’t going to get fixed and I just go around it in their desktop version for the foreseeable future. The only reason I still have is because I’ve been doing my taxes with TurboTax for years and I want to be able to continue to export my information directly. If you do your taxes a different way though I would recommend a different app.

Death by cloud. I’m glad intuit let me try this piece of junk for free, so I have no qualms about deleating it. Blame the iOS App. Poorly designed, noisy, notification/ad heavy, info light initial screen. Bad at remembering transactions that should be processed automatically. Lots of anoying things that one can normally overlook. But no backups? When deleting what I thought was a redundant account on the App, all my accounts and nine months work were gone, never to be seen again. Now I’m deleting this APP, never to be seen again. No wonder QuickBooks split. Thanks for the reach-out. Now that the cows have left I see no reason in trying to shut the barn door. Restructuring the data does not address the chief flaw in the product. No backups and no “saved state” option. It presents a compelling argument to avoid cloud based systems, especially complex ones. I thought I was deleting a single account, not all of them. Why bother to reconstruct something that a poorly constructed interface update, which occur on a weekly basis these days, can have me accidentlly delete with no hope of an easy recovery. I’ve learned my lesson, I’m moving on.

BE AWARE OF MILEAGE TRACKER!!. I downloaded this app about a year ago so I can track my miles for work. It worked albeit a but clunky on getting the reports but I was able to make do. Fast forward to 11/12 and this app updates and then doesn’t track my miles for several days. In the meantime, I’m working with their tech support to fix this and they said “it must be my phone”. I looked in their community chat rooms and SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE REPORT SAME PROBLEM, but yeah, this was “only my phone”. I download another mileage app and it works perfectly fine while this doesn’t. So I simply ask to get a refund and cancel my subscription since the app isn’t doing what I paid it to do. They say I have first cancel and then they can initiate a refund. So I do this and then guess what? They deny my refund. SO IF YOU USE THIS FOR THE MILEAGE TRACKER, I would point you to other apps instead of this one because this WILL mess up and QB will just say “not us” and you’re out the money. Terrible, slow service and getting their people to respond was like pulling teeth. I’ll never use again and decided to write this to warn others. BUYER BEWARE!

Update to last review. The developers were very kind to offer solutions for my failing mileage log. I am no stranger to app development being a retired software developer myself. It’s a thankless job and I can only imagine how tough it must be to please such a large user base. I believe my woes with this app are due to apple iOS updates. Their enhanced app security “features” often and randomly log me out of the app. Once this happens my mileage stops logging. I’ll sign back in and it resumes. I do have all the app’s recommended settings set up correctly and this shouldn’t cause background services just to stop. Unfortunately it seems to do just that. My advice is to check that it is indeed logged in and running daily. Even if the badge alerts seem to be working. I truly have lost a lot of mileage tax credits because of unexpected log outs. Anyway thank you to the developers for your responses and good luck with your app. - Craig

PCI requirements for taking credit cards fee not included. There’s a new law for companies that take credit cards as payments. This is called, “PCI” compliance and is done through a third party. This is because of a recent industry data breach issue. It applies to you even if you personally do not take or store credit card information and solely use Quickbooks as a portal via invoice, having them process payments, “which they already charge you for” with quickbooks already being in compliance. This is why you pay for a “subscription” to use their services. Regardless, the third party still wants you to make an account and charge you a repeating “compliance” fee. It is akin to you riding in a city bus but after you pay the driver they make you purchase auto insurance to ride on the bus. The app doesn’t have a master “off” switch to no longer accept credit cards as payment and must be deselected as an option when you make an invoice, but every time you make an invoice. Makes you wonder who wrote this bill and if they have any stake in the third party which was made to manage the compliance. Quickbooks should handle this since they make money processing our payments and also have a master credit card off switch so as to no longer take credit card payments. No credit cards equals compliance.

Good app, missing some details.. Overall this is a great app for me and my business needs especially since I'm traveling to customer locations. I have the ability to bill them, collect payment from them, manage income and expenses all from this app. A major plus is my ability to scan my receipts or email them in and have QuickBooks input them to my expenses so I can just approve them saving me time and money, great job on this feature! BUT I have noticed that the mileage tracker is not great, sometimes it pickups my drive sometimes it doesn't. I've been forced to use MileIQ for my mileage tracker which is annoying to say the least paying two separate companies when QuickBooks advertised the Mileage Tracker. Another downside is that this app is only available on the phone, not the iPad. I know I can run iPhone apps on the iPad, but it don't look as professional and clean especially when presenting estimates to customers. With times evolving and more business using tablets I would say it's about time that QuickBooks looked into getting their app updated for Tablets.

Antiquated and difficult. I could have had the payment be made through Cash App and hit my account sooner with less fees than using quick books process. You can create the invoice on this app, get paid through this app but cannot Request it instantly deposited from the app, when you call in or ask for assistance, they cant help you it has to be through a whole different app or department, which cant be transferred to but redial or reconnect entirely, and all this needing to happen on multiple app or platforms is absolutely just horribly thought out and time consuming. The only good thing is they’re deductions system as it seems easy and efficient but to have everything so convoluted and difficult to get done is absolutely not at all recommended and is a surprise to me how they have such a high rating when all i see is low 1 star complaints. How they are even still a viable option for payments is truly astounding, this has been thee worst experience, and do yourself a favor and just use the square app process, while it has its flaws, its no where near unnecessary frustration with this company.

Good app. *****Update*****the problem I was experiencing below has been fixed. No longer crashing when switching to miles. Still only 4 stars as there are some things I would love to see added or improved. ......................... I was loving the app but a few days ago every time I try and access the mileage tab the app shuts down. I’m not sure whether to delete and reinstall or wait and see if they fix it. I don’t want to lose the trips that are in there waiting to be processed. I’ve read through their responses to everyone else with the same problem and it’s quite disappointing they aren’t understanding the problem. The app is tracking the trips and miles, I can see the number of trips going up BUT when you click on mileage to view the trips the app CRASHES. You can’t access the mileage portion on the app. It’s broken! Obviously with so many people reporting the same thing the problem is with the update. Please take action to fix this.

Tracker and Inconsistent. After three months of troubleshooting with customer service, I was told repeatedly that I was the only one facing the mileage tracking issue and every time they just walked me through the basic restart troubleshooting options. I have been inconsistent receiving service for the mileage tracking but as others have said it is basically useless, frustrating, and I will lose money on time because of this issue. Furthermore, I ask that I receive a discount on my $15 subscription since I wasn’t able to utilize the service I was paying for. The response was no, since I was the only one having the issue it seemed like my phone not the software. After looking at it on my phone after all of this, I now see that mini mini people are havingThe same questions. I actually had to call Apple and they took the time to do some research and found all these other Bible with the same issues, all this after three months of customer service through QuickBooks. At one point they just Google troubleshooting for this issue. Very frustrated

Wish it had landscape mode too. I run a very small business with only 5 clients. The self employed Quickbooks app has been helpful in allowing me to send invoices and receipts, track income and business expenses, and project my tax deductions but there are some features I wish were better. Most important change I would like to see is option for landscape mode. I use an iPad Pro with the magic keyboard as my personal and business “laptop.” If I need to use quickbooks with my keyboard like when prepping invoices, I literally have to turn my head sideways while typing. Very frustrating to be spending $25/month for a high quality, reputable app that doesn’t have an important basic feature. I also wish there were more options when you want to “create a rule” for transactions or milage besides apply all. For example I started my business in July so transactions/trips from Jan-June 2020 for the same places were not business related. Additionally I wish there was a filter and better sort for business transactions, like sorting by certain accounts, types of business, dates, money amounts, location, ect...

App doesn’t work. I subscribed to the service the day I downloaded the app. I’ve been tracking all my miles, expenses, income, etc ever since. I tried logging in today and got “your free trial is over please subscribe” so I click to subscribe, cause maybe there’s an issue with my subscription? I click on subscribe and it tells me I’m already subscribed. Yet I can’t get into my account because it keeps telling me to subscribe!!!! Canceling this and getting my $ back. I’ve got well over a month of mileage, expenses and income now to recreate. Update: after being told they would help me get back into my account, and after days of back and forth emails, I was told by their tech support that I have an expired free trial. I responded with all the info (via screenshots) showing I paid for the app for the past 2 months, and since I had to now go without using the features and have to manually record all of my mileage, expenses and income, and can’t get to ANY of the data I input for the 2 months I WAS able to login, I requested and received a refund from Apple, I never heard a peep from this company again. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE customer service and tech support!!!! I lost every bit of data I put into this app, and they could care less. Do yourself a favor and just say no.

Very Poor Customer Service. I would give give the app 5 stars, but I’m (suppose) to be receiving a free subscription because of using TurboTax. In December, it asked me to renew my subscription to log in. So I did it, and in January, I got an email from Intuit saying the subscription renewal request was an error and I’m still under the free subscription. It refunded me for the month I paid. Then I got the same renewal request last week when I tried to log into the app. Based on when I filed my taxes last year, I should have a few more months left on my free subscription. I tried to contact Intuit, but they don’t have a customer service phone number where you can speak directly with a human. And the rep I chatted with online only provided a link that wouldn’t even open. I’ve used TurboTax for several years, but after this experience, I’m about done with Intuit.

Good app but could definitely use different features. The app it self is good but not being able to add a PO number to my invoices is a hassle because a lot of big companies require PO’s to send payments to vendors like myself. Also the limitation on the invoice notes for the client makes it difficult to send an invoice with detail about what work was done so the client has a written document of all the work that was accomplished for future reference. Another thing I would really like to see is an option to allow clients to make partial payments because some money is better than no money when a client can’t afford to pay the entire sum of a bill because then I have to create a brand new invoice and adjust the old every time. One last improvement I would really like to see would be the ability to send a quote through QuickBooks that I can turn into a invoice with a contract section and ability to E-sign the contract for the client and contractor. All of those would be great addition that would make my decision on keeping this app a whole lot easier

It’s great, But….. So I’ve been using this app for at least 3 years now. Currently I like it but one flaw it has is my only drawback. So this little app can sometimes work with the Tax application they have to make life easy; well it’s not super easy half the time and will also cost a bit more the self employed. So it will track expenses, take pictures of receipts, categorize half the stuff for you and it will learn over time what’s what, but there is one thing that I absolutely have an issue with… it’s the miles. It will track some miles sometimes and other times it will start tracking in the middle of my drive( legit I have one where it’s got me on I-80 as a starting point). So I also should mention that I have this app set up to track the miles automatically so I don’t have to remember to pull up the app and track it myself. However I’m about to start doing that because this is insane that it only tracks 50% correctly. Also it tracks me when I’m walking about the salon or when I’m home! Like that’s not supposed to happen but it is!! So with all that said; yes that app is great for self employed people but it’s also a pain half the time. So please just take what it gives you with a grain of salt.

Fraudulent-false advertising. I have been using this app for transactions for two years. Recently I started to track my mileage. According to their advertising this app allows you to create rules for frequent drives. THIS FUNCTION DOES NOT WORK!! Buyer beware!!! I just got done with a chat conversation to solve this and the tech support said, and I quote, “As of the moment, Mileage rules are not applicable to past drive mileage.” When I expressed my confusion because this feature is clearly present on the app they said, and again direct quote, “I checked with the team and Rules are no longer applicable to Mileage Trips.” They literally display features on their application that are absolutely fake. They are knowingly providing a feature on their app that is non-functional. I have spent hours and hours trying to make this feature work, setting up rules, deleting rules and re-setting them up. They even have forums with directions as to how to create mileage rules...ALL LIES! Now I have to manually go through thousands of drives hundreds of which that I thought were being automatically categorized. This is unacceptable and I will be reporting this company to the BBB and any other authorities I can think of. Shame on this developer for doing this to its customers.

Over all great program. The only gripes I have with this program is that invoicing doesn’t allow the option to mark invoice as paid until I send the client an email first. It seems odd to send two emails to get the receipt to the customer. Adding the option to mark invoice as paid without sending would be nice. The other issue is the option to accept credit card transactions does allow you to charge fees to the customer. I make mostly larger transactions and that can get into our profit margins and telling the customer after the fact looks really bad. Most of my work is bid and I use DocuSign to send proposals and mostly use this program to provide client with a receipt. Also adding the ability to scan multiple receipts for each total would help out. My suppliers receipts don’t come as standard receipts. They only put like 10 items per page and it usually around 2-3 pages. Over all great program and fairly easy to use. This program really is a time and life saver and I hope updates are coming to address these issues.

Customer service. Don’t try to get help unless you have 2-3 hours to spare(and considering it’s a business app, who does?). To get an agent to call you, you must click on help and request one. Except if you click on help, nothing appears. If you try to chat with an agent, you must fill a form with your name, e-mail and reason, then you get a random agent asking for that info again. In my case, the agent couldn’t help me, so he provided a link which took me to the same form. The third time, and about 25 minutes later, I was nearly in tears and told the agent so. He gave me another link and told me to close the window with him first. So I followed it and never connected to anyone. So back to the form, and two more rounds of links to the same form. I found a contact number, so I called it and a recorded message told me to click on help and request a callback. I started at 6:48 EST, and finally was able to get a call at 8:40. The very helpful lady tried to resolve my problem, but it wasn’t working, so she had me on the line until 9 EST and told me merchant services were closing at that time. She did promise to call tomorrow to try to help, but as of yet, my problem (which is about being able to take online payments when I send an invoice-pretty basic) is still unresolved.

Mileage Tracking is Unreliable Lately. Update: Mileage Tracking still HIGHLY unreliable !! No fixes. No communication from the developer. It takes more work to double check everything. Ugh. And I’m paying for this? In the past few months I’ve noticed that entire trips aren’t tracking. There is a manual tracking option, but I’m paying money to have it automatically track. I’m a roofing contractor and drive A LOT. Every time this happens I have to pour over my calendar and consider every customer, every supply run, every inspection, etc that I have. Then I have to map each of those drives myself to determine the miles. Only then to enter it manually. At this point it is costing me actually money AND costing me valuable time. I’ve already selected the mileage tracking troubleshooter in the app and confirmed all my settings are correct. It has all the checkboxes checked off. I’ve confirmed that the app is open and running in the background each morning. I’ve emailed customer service with a couple examples. And reading some other complaints here, it seems I’ll have to do more of the developers job by not only tracking down each trip, but now I’ll have to catalog them all and send in to a different customer service person. Why am I doing the developers job checking for bugs on an app that I’m paying for?

Great until software update. This software is useless without the capacity to upload tracked expenses/receipts to an invoice. Who out here doesn't have billable expenses with receipts? None! We all need to track and show our costs to our customers. This, in a previous software revision was available, but was removed recently and seriously hinders my ability to bill my customers effectively and with complete transparency. To have to jimmy rig my invoices to show my costs incurred is not only ineffective but unprofessional! Also, now it appears to incorrectly address the uploaded receipts on date, name of company, and amount. And it does it randomly. This now is taking up all my time, rather than making more efficient use of my time. I have contacted support multiple times and they have said they are working to improve this function but have no timeline to fix this. They offered me one months credit but never applied the credit. Can’t call someone because they don’t give a number and I have asked for a call and they said they can’t call me. I have called other numbers not related to self employed and they directed me to the email process. I have submitted comments to the software engineers and have not received a productive answer other than we are working on it.... if you had it working in the past, how hard is it to fix it and put it back in if it was never a problem?!? No one has ever explained what was the issue.

Helpful, but needs a few features…. I find this a very useful application for keeping track of income and expenses and calculating taxes, but I don’t like how it duplicates my receipts in my photos if I’ve already taken a screenshot because that’s how I received it or because I took a photo of the receipt and didn’t have the time to enter it right away because I knew that I was waiting on something to post correctly on my card such as a refund. I would also like to be able to have a round-trip feature on the mileage rather than just having to enter it manually because I have a driver and I’m sure even for others, not all travel is business related, so it would just be nice to be able to select round-trip and even select the date of return. Occasional glitches, but I tend to be able to figure out my way around that. Hopefully, the update will help with those.

Mileage Tracker Flaky UPDATED. UPDATE: After another support ticket getting no response BUT them responding to my review I tried the proposed solution to band aid my missing trips. No luck. Still have the program and it is STILL not logging mileage. Now it’s completely failing all trips. I’m not incompetent when it comes to these things. I’ve built multiple CPU’s; have my home setup for multitudes of automation tasks using IFTTT protocols, etc. I have checked and checked again my setting which are correct. I’ve used the online support and followed the guides given in the reply to my review. Check other reviews. I’m not the only one. If your looking for solid mileage tracking look elsewhere. Flaky at best with absolutely dismal customer service. ORIGINAL REVIEW: One of the big reasons I got this was for its inclusion of automatic mileage tracking. Well even after reading bad reviews of people saying it didn’t work right I tried it with the 30 day trial. Worked great until a week ago (I’ve since purchased the software). Frustrated I sent an email via the embedded support tab/button. No response in two days and mileage tracking is still only picking up 1 of 3 trips or so. Can’t recommend a product that is that inconsistent and has no customer service to back it up when there’s problems. It appears my support email is either ignored or is backlogged by over 2 days which would suggest many others are having problems as well. BUYER BEWARE

Great all purpose app, but needs fine tuning. I have been using this app for about 3 months now and it is great for running a small business, hows there are 2 key things that I would love to see changed. First is the mileage tracking, there has to be a way to make it more user friendly, I used mileIQ before this and it was great in the way it would let you name the location you started and stopped at, making it super easy to classify your drives. QB just gives a general address to go off of so then you have to look at the map to remember where the destination was from the drive from last week. Second thing is the invoicing, I used the Wave app before this and the way you could make a list of items to pick from when creating an invoice was great, with QB you can pick from a list of recently used items but it’s not as streamlined as it could be, all in all a good all purpose app because it does do everything including taxes but just like anything all purpose it doesn’t do any one thing great.

Has good framework, but missing some crucial features. QuickBooks self-employed has a great, simple ideology behind it, but I think that QuickBooks is either intentionally throttled some functionality to force users to pay for more premium products, or that they have gone so minimalistic that it has gone too far. The ability for customers to pay partial payments on invoices as one of the most simple, easy things that any business in the service industry has ever thought of. But QuickBooks self-employed does not allow you to do that. It’s ludicrous to think that the majority of customers using QuickBooks self-employed are in the service industry, and for the majority of that industry companies require a 50% down payment. It’s really annoying that QuickBooks doesn’t have this feature, because if I want to get a down payment from somebody, I have to create two separate invoices which looks very unprofessional. Without this feature, I will definitely be switching away from QuickBooks as soon as I can find a better alternative.

Clunky and annoying. I use this app since I file with turbo tax so it would be great if it was easy to use. It keeps good mile tracking which is surprising because it is so clunky in other aspects. It has had a lapse in account activity which is weird because it just downloads that info from my bank. While it keeps good mileage it is very disappointing in entering wether they are personal or business. Sometimes it freezes while trying to categorize other times it categorizes to quickly and I end up having to review again and change the category. It is also annoying when it comes tax time and you have to transfer your info, you only get one chance at it and I’m not sure the transfer to turbo tax is correct. It looks nice but works badly. The app has annoyed me enough lately I’ll probably switch from filing with turbo tax. If the app cost less per month I might consider continuing using it but 15 bucks a month for a app that doesn’t work well isn’t gonna cut it.

Doesn't live up to what was said about it. The app has potential but really lacks much. It constantly kicks out my banking information so several times a week I have to re-verify my account as quickbooks tells me that my information is incorrect when it's actually correct. It is incredibly annoying. As far as the tracking. It's good at picking up the start of a journey but horrible at detecting the stops. As a delivery person I make several stops and then go to a pickup. This makes all of it one trip. I can only imagine using this for Uber or Lyft as it would make your entire day one trip. This doesn't even give you the option to force stop like you could do with Mile Iq or Hurdlr and those are free apps. I would expect more from a company who wants money from me on a monthly basis. I gave two stars because it has potential because of the ability to set rules for your purchases to make it easier to categorize purchases but at this point I'm not going to continue to use this as a free app and I definitely wouldn't use this as a paid app. If you are someone who drives constantly this isn't the app for you.

Disappointed, lacking key features. Quick Books self employed looks promising but is lacking critical features such as the ability to set recurring transactions, duplicate transactions, time tracking, and most importantly the ability to change an invoice’s status without having to email to a client through the QuickBooks system. I’ve been using FreshBooks which has all of these features (and a cleaner, prettier UI), but wanted to give QuickBooks Self Employed a try since it has the added functionality to estimate quarterly taxes and the ability to export tax info over to TurboTax. I could make everything else work, but forcing users to email an invoice using their interface is very limiting since I need to use PDFs for a specific clients. Not having this basic feature is probably a deal breaker for me - Especially since support’s response is that they don’t currently have plans to implement this feature and there are older support threads with multiple requests to add such a basic feature: to be able to change invoice status when using PDFs. As is, If you do not want to email an invoice through Quickbooks Self Employed, you will not be able to get the invoice out of draft mode and, more importantly, you’ll be unable to mark it as paid and have the payment reflected within the system. Such a shame since I really do like the quarterly tax estimates, integrated tax payments/tracking, and the ability to export everything to TurboTax at years end.

Disappointing!. I have used this app for nearly 2 years and in recent weeks I haven’t been able to link my bank account anymore. Called my bank, everything is Ok on their end. Called Quickbooks and they can’t figure out what the issue is. I thought I could just delete and then reconnect my account but instead Quickbooks DELETED all of my transactions I have ever recorded from my bank. This has caused a major problem for us unless I can get my bank linking again. It is a problem from Quickbooks not my bank. They cannot fix my issue and said it could take 2-3 days before I get a return call. Very disappointed in this service, people depend on this program to work and we PAY for it to work. And when it doesn’t work AND all of the transactions get deleted talk about stressful! I hope they can fix the issue, things worked fine then out of the blue unable to connect to bank from any app or browser. I hate to think about how many other people this happens to. Mostly upset that our transactions got deleted as well! Why would my transactions get deleted after I have painstakingly sorted them throughout this whole year? It makes no sense why the program would do that for things you have already calculated. I am looking for another program to use that will WORK! If I could give this 0 stars I would.

Mile Tracker Needs Improvement. The ‘Miles’ feature tracks drives and allows you to create ‘Rules’ but the automatic sorting is inefficient. Currently I have over 100 drives listed as ‘Unreviewed’ but when I sort them and select ‘Create Rule’ the majority of them give an error message that the trip already has a rule in place. If the trip is logged, and there is a rule in place, these trips should be automatically sorted by the app. I’ve contacted support about this and the only solution is to open the app daily and leave it running in hopes that it will automatically sort your drives. This solution will not help sort the past drives. The Transactions feature has similar rules and users are able to ‘refresh’ the transactions and they are automatically sorted if they were not already. The app would be 5 stars if the ‘Miles’ section would do the same. I would recommend using another app with better automatic sorting instead of investing the time to create rules on this one, then have to go back and still sort them manually.

Excellent for managing tax expense deductions!. Overall its an excellent app and I don’t have any complaints, it makes managing expense transactions as well as your total mileage driven very simple, however, I do have one important request…….. I recommend updating the platform for a way to import CSV files, which then allows for you to import your existing mileage driven that has been kept track of on a different app prior to starting this “quickbooks” subscription. It’s a much simpler way to automate the process, as opposed to having to manually enter your past trip(s) mileage on a trip-by-trip basis…….that task is far too tedious & time-consuming to put up with. Given that it’s the 21st century and with all the technological advancements out there, you’d think there would already be a much simpler system in place that allows for the import & export of data! Automate it, so I can add my past mileage driven in 2023 to “QuickBooks”! Until that import/export system is developed, I won’t be able to eliminate the use of the MileIQ app that I’d been using previously, as it contains my past trip(s) mileage since the start of 2023. PLEASE MAKE IT HAPPEN, it should have already been put in place by now! Aside from that GLARING issue, the app is win-win. 👌🏼

Buggy as heck but still worth it unfortunately. I struggle with this app on a near daily basis. Every now and then it randomly doesn’t pick up one of my trips and I have to manually put in, and then sometimes that trip pops up the next day, and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes I will mark trips as business and then there will be no deduction in the reviewed trips list, until the next time I login. I get notifications of transactions that I need to review after I review them all the time. Like this is a regular occurrence. Still, it is a quick and easy way of keeping track of my mileage and my expenses so I don’t end up cramming and doing all my accounting in January. It’s just barely worth what it cost to me. They are walking a very thin line here. The second there is a competitor that will track mileage and do accounting, I am ditching this app and I frankly can’t wait. That’s it, I’m done. It hasn’t tracked any of my trips in days. I’m not paying for this. At the end of this year I am getting off Quickbooks and I’m not coming back. Competing apps do everything QB does for free, this app barely works, what the hell am I paying for??

Room for Improvement. Been using this app for 5-6 years now. Has several great features for small businesses/ independent contractors, like mileage tracking, quarterly tax estimation, and is a quick way to see your P&L snapshot. BUT for the last year or so the app has become frustratingly difficult to use due to lagging and slow touch response. Also would be greatly improved by the addition of a batch edit (even just batch exclude) function for transactions. Even the ability to make a rule to exclude certain transaction types would help, but you can only choose business or personal, not to exclude. If it’s going to continue taking 10 seconds for the app to recognize I even tapped a button, batch edit at this point is a necessity. Have reported the issue through the in-app feedback, but still not fixed. Also requires attempts at categorizing some transactions multiple times for them to move from “unreviewed” to “reviewed.” For a paid app charging as much as it does, it’s unacceptable that these issues have been present for a year or more.

Just soso. I signed up in February and am still learning how to best use the app. I own a small business that provides health care based services to kids. The app is appropriately sales-based as more businesses are such. It does a good job with transactions, and it is cool looking at the reports. I can easily send invoices and mark payments. My bank account got a ton easier to categorize. I am not financially minded, so I admit I get hung up in the unimportant details. I attend continuing education, and other uncategorized expenses that I would prefer to track individually. I am sure my accountant cares less about that, though. My beef is with the mileage feature. There are entries recorded that are miles off. I am looking for an entry that was 9 miles long and it was recorded as almost 15 (it just never stopped when I stopped). Little entries that are 2 mile drives enter at nearly 5. It is only 2 or 3 a week, but it tales time and more tracking than I think it should take.

Payroll. It would be so nice if there was a smooth transition or an option to add payroll on this app. I don’t need an enterprise accounting solution and don’t feel like I have the ability to transition to chart of accounts accounting because my business is so small, 2 employees other than myself. I think for businesses that are in transition into becoming larger and beginning to hire employees, seasonally or temporarily, it makes sense that I could use a simple program like self employees but also be able to keep track of my payroll within this app or at least be able to classify it as something other than others business expenses’. I may not always have employees and the need for a cumbersome enterprise accounting solution- so something in between this and enterprise would be nice. Something that incorporated payroll accounting and self employed features and simplicity. It’s a great app and great software at a reasonable price but even if it didn’t do payroll per say but could help keep track and account for those amounts sent out between paychecks and withholding it would make tax time easier and give me a better sense of revenues, expenses and better reporting and insight on how to charge the correct price based upon new overhead with employees and without employees. There should be an in between program that doesn’t force you to go to chart of accounts- because that is more accounting than a little business needs or an in between business needs.

Unruly. I’m just trying out QuickBooks. The interface is very nice. Intuitive one might say. When reviewing transactions I see a nice button that says “Create rule” so I hit it. In a very helpful way it asks, would you like to automatically categorize all transactions from vendor A as category Z. I hit confirm, then save my transaction. I then see a little notification that says X number of transactions were automatically categorized, which I’m very excited about because it seems to be making my life easier, yay! Then, to my horror, I see that all the X number of transactions are reviewed as “uncategorized” and even the first item I reviewed and based the rule on has a completely different category than the one I selected and saved. And this wasn’t just a fluke, I had been going along like this for several transactions, vendors and categories until I noticed they were all screwed up. The very basic function of this software, the flagship software of the industry, the function of sorting your transactions for tax purposes, is completely broken. So I look for a help option in the app to report the problem, don’t see one, only an option to leave a review. And here I am, warning the next fool to stay away from this very nice looking but completely broken app. P.S. I found the help, it’s an AI chatbot. It had to forward my problem to its humans, they’ll get back to me.

My information vanished. I was thrilled with QuickBooks for several years until the end of 2023, when I noticed the app had trouble connecting to my bank. I contacted QuickBooks via X, and they sent me a few steps to solve the problem, mainly refreshing the app. When it did, it failed; the service reps told me I had to do it online, not in the app. I followed the steps to solve the problem, but my information was not there. I spent one morning entering all December expenses to see if the app would retain and process the data. And that information vanished, too. My accountant told me I had to review all my bank expenses to give her my income and expenses for 2023 since the app was not working. That could take me a whole week of work. So why am I paying $36 a month? Finally, after days of stress, I connected to my bank using QuickBooks self-employed online, and the information reappeared so my accountant could use it. I was not able to see my information again. This bad experience made me decide to cancel my QuickBooks subscription, and will look for an alternative. Customer service has a lot of room for improvement. I do not recommend this app.

Intuit, Quick Books, and Apple. I purchased the basic subscription via Apple after downloading the app. After getting into the subscription I determined that although the basic showed tax information there was no way to pay taxes via the basic plan. In order to pay taxes via the app you needed the Self Employed + Turbo Tax bundle. I upgraded to the new subscription via the app, was charged and the payment completed, however my subscrition was not updated to the new level. After 3 days of calls never getting to speak to an actual person just getting a recording to leave a message with no call backs. I finally got to speak with someone who informed me he couldn’t help me and couldn’t transfer me, I had to call a different number. I called that number and was informed that although they agreed they were paid for the higher subscription they couldn’t give it to me because I used Apple to pay. I had to cancel my subscription, wait for a refund from Apple and then after the account was closed I could purchase a new subscription. Intuit customer service is apparently not directly available to discuss the issue. You have to either deal with Quick Books or Turbo Tax. The customer service with Quick Book is a disgrace. I will admit that if you search hard enough there is a disclaimer about getting refunds directly from Apple, not that if you use there app and pay for ian upgrade with Apple that it won’t work.

Would not recommend this product. This is a good product for organizing income and expenses come tax time. However, the main reason I use this product is for the mileage tracker. My business requires me to visit anywhere from 5-20 client homes every day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The tracker is completely unreliable and has so many bugs, as does the rest of the system. It’s a clunky user experience to say the least. You put out updates practically every week to “squash some bugs and make a few improvements behind the scenes,” yet there are always bugs! Dealing with customer service via chat or phone is a complete nightmare because, for some dumb reason unbeknownst to me, the reps are unable to get into anyone’s account to see what we are seeing. I finally gave up. I’ve endured the inadequacy of this app for 8 years and today I received an email that you’re raising my rate by 33% on the first of the year!!!! You guys really have nerve. Time for me to make some changes.

Pretty glitchy. Duplicate transactions notified but don’t show, creating rules for transactions rarely work, include GST is not default so every expense has to be ticked for GST (time consuming when you’re going through a thousand expenses). Should have percentage option for split, as you have to calculate percentages outside of app. Overall disappointed as I was hoping I could get a similar experience to Xero with bulk transaction categorizing but it isn’t very intuitive.

Gets app but crashes. Good app for my business but keeps crashing so unreliable and especially when your paying monthly for it. Now after it starts to work again there’s another problem... won’t let me sign in. I have all the right login details, I even changed my password again but still no luck. Disappointed in this app so far to say the least. Won’t be upgrading my star rating until its a more reliable app. WEL this is great, do an update today Friday 19th January and now it keeps crashing upon opening the app.... what a disappointing and pathetic app! Will be looking elsewhere for my business needs!!! 19th if july update has taken a step back! Now you have to manually input your banking details on every invoice every time instead of having it set up automatically like it was before. Your making business life even harder wasting my time to manually input it every time I do an invoice. The people who do these updates need to have there’s jobs monitored more closely with these backwards updates.

Can’t send receipts to customers or create invoice templates. Hi there, App would be great if you could generate a receipt to send to customers who you have invoiced using the app. Currently, I invoice from this app, then have to go to another app, create an invoice in that app, mark it as paid, so that I can then send a receipt from that app. An accounting app should have a send receipt function. I was very surprised to learn that a paid app by QuickBooks didn’t have this option. Also, we should be able to create a template or save information to the app’s template, info such as bank details, Terms and conditions other information that doesn’t change, but is always required. These two functions would save a huge amount of time and make the app a 5 star app! Thanks!

Receipt forwarding doesn’t work, poor customer support. Overall I was happy with QuickBooks self employed, however the receipt forwarding and automatic recognition doesn’t appear to work, meaning that this data needs to be manually entered. Quite time consuming and no ability to upload PDF like would be the case with forwarded receipt. I have attempted to contact the QBSE for assistance, however after email acknowledgement of request, there is no support. The advertised telephone support on QuickBooks website is for the online version rather than the self employed version of QuickBooks.

Time Saver. Enjoying the app for a while now, it really saves time categorising items, however there are some issues when reviewing (swiping on) transactions, most are now coming up as Motor Vehicle expenses when they are not and the receipts aren’t syncing with the transactions. Also when reviewing Mileage some will repeat after they have been swiped/reviewed, which is a little annoying and time consuming. All in all great app, would be better if the price stayed at $10 per month.

Easy to use. For a very small fee of $10 a month, this program saves me so much time in storing receipts, generating invoices and automatically tracking where I drive among other things. It’s so incredibly easy to use and it literally would save me hours of work each week. There is a display screen that shows you your income against your expenses for the financial year/quarter making it easy to track an estimate of how much you should have put aside for your tax. Linking this with my bank account to see all transactions in and out make it so easy for me too instead of entering manually. I recommend it to everyone out on their own.

Poor customer service. Never have ever had an ap with so many errors and no way of reporting the reoccurring problems. The arrogance of Quickbooks to refuse support for this mobile version of their platform is atrocious. Invoices that go to junk mail. Confusion for customers receiving invoices for two step process to view. Continuing lose of account payment details and invoice numbering resets. Let alone the missed bank reconciliations of whole months. Happy to help you sort out bugs but what about a trial test before messing everyone’s books.

Where have you been all my life? :). Pros: Tracking expenses- This app is amazing! If you’re a “paperwork challenged” person, this is the app for you. I had my receipts everywhere, in my car, drawers and it was always a thing stressing me in the back of my mind(i missed a lot of them)..but, with this app you just take a picture and they are added immediately, so amazing. I’m up to date with everything. Very easy to use and a lot of stress and chaos has just dissapeared.. The milage deductions is just brilliant! Very mild Cons: The milage auto-tracking needs a bit of work as it kind of does its own thing (i switched it off) the invoice creator needs to be a bit more easy to use but, to be honest I do my invoicing separately anyway due to my type work, maybe i haven’t tried hard enough...🤔

Actively preventing me from filing my tax return. So, if you had asked me a week ago I would have said that this app is great - synching with my bank accounts, categorizing my spending and adding pics of receipts + the car travel functionality is fantastic. However, following the most recent update this app fails on the one fundamental aspect that counts above all else. I cannot email (export) the reports, that is, get the data out of the app and to my accountant. The functionality says it’s working, but no email arrives. This functionality was working just a month ago when I tested it in preparation for my accountant appointment. Apparently it is a ’known issue’ that they are ‘working toward fixing’. However, when requested they can’t/won’t give me a timeline for a fix to even be worked on little one deployed! Furthermore they don’t have the ability to manually extract it. A years worth of tax transactions and no way of accessing them and no indication of when, if ever. Hero to zero Intuit - or should I make that hero to xero? FIX IT NOW! *rocks back and forth sobbing*

Good app so far. I just subscribed it yesterday and find it pretty good so far. However the format of the invoice is not quite right yet, you put in the address but it doesn’t show up in your invoice and no place to put in your ABN so I had to put it down the payment detail. One other thing they need to improve is that it should be able to attach the invoice in the automated email which sends the invoice to your customer, so the customer can open the attachment straight away rather than loading it from the QuickBooks portal. I would go with QuickBooks online but it has no milage tracking which I drive a lot. The format of invoice is way better than this though, wouldn’t mind to pay a little bit extra to have both in one place.

Great until a recent update. After the recent update of the app mine will open for a second or two and then shut down. I have deleted the app and reinstalled it no luck. My question is what do I now do about my data that I can’t access? Please fix. Update: thank you very much for the quick fix. Very well done. 5 star.

Constantly crashing. This app is really unreliable which is so disappointing because it’s a great app when it’s working. Every time I update, it crashes and I can’t log in. The app also used to automatically calculate mileage based on start and end point but it doesn’t do this anymore which means adding mileage is very time consuming. An option to automatically add return trips would also be great and make life easier as well as more expense category options. I won’t be renewing this app next month as it is a time waster due to constant errors, when the reason I purchased it was for efficiency.

Help. Hi there When ever I have updated my password because for some reason I can’t sign in, I have trouble re signing in once updating password. I now have to delete the app and re download it (again), this is still not working so I take you up on signing in another way which takes me online to your browser, I can log in there but none of my transactions are showing.!? Also can you please update my account user name. The current is an old email I no longer have access to, can you please change my user ID to my name or currently registered email. I have previously asked but you only directed me to update my contact email. Please help, I am messaging here as it is also difficult to contact you online, which I tried.... N

Good but needs one major feature. Been using this for a month now but needs to have a option to assign Bluetooth to vehicles that way if driving a different vehicle, logs aren’t recorded all the time, eg: I drive my wife’s car. Also another option should be to be able to set a minimum speed before starting to log a trip, for my work I drive Kawasaki Mules on site, if I go over a certain speed it will start to log trips as it thinks I’m driving.

Was good at the start until you drum up more business. This was really good to use at first until you get lots of jobs/work and need to start sending quotes and paid receipts etc. You can only send invoices, and then you get paid by have your bank details on the invoice. There is a ok part about this and it’s the tracking but even that doesn’t track the whole trip in one hit, I travel an hour or more to jobs and it records snippets along the way if I’m an stopped at the lights for a few seconds it starts logging a new trip, by the end of the day when I’m doing my books there’s about 29 trips I need to sort out if they were personal or business related and when all I’ve done is one trip to one job. You can’t send quotes. You cant send a paid receipt if you get paid cash or by card with a eftpos/card reader, you have to send a invoice, mark it as paid then you only have the option then to send a receipt for the work you done to the customer. I’ve had to change to Xero now, I just have to log box my kms and trips now the old fashion way ☹️

Very useful app but,. Very useful app and works really well. The only issues I have is it not linking with my bank account (details have all been checked and are correct) and when I mark invoices as paid it still says I have earned $0 Then adding the trips manually can take a long time because the rules you create have no effect. When we mark invoices as paid it would be much more helpful if it showed in the income section. Doing this manually wastes a lot of time

Super value!. I sell online and started out with a small business tax program that required me to manually enter every single transaction. I used to get so far behind, it was a real headache :(. I found this app and as it syncs with my bank and Paypal, I was able to back-date all transactions to the beginning of the financial year saving me hours (days?) of work! It’s super simple to use and they update and improve all the time. At then end of the financial year I can choose which reports I want, print them and hand them over to the accountant. Its a relief to know that at tax time, all the information is accurate as they stay up to date with any changes to the tax laws. If you have any problems it’s easy to get help, they are super quick to respond and are very helpful. Highly recommended and well worth $5 a month.

Bug fix caused errors. I really like this app and for the past 5 months has worked well for my business but a couple of days ago I noticed I couldn’t connect to my banking details. I just realised there was a bug fix 4 days ago so hopefully the developers will fix this so it doesn’t keep happening

QuickBooks Self Employed - It works!. Put simply - this App works really well and the promise of simplicity is real and true. I commenced QB SelfEmployed last July 1st. I have flown a Boeing 747B Flight Simulator (with no training) and found it WAY easier than using my previous software supplied by the big competitor (you know who - M_ _ _ ). To make things even more insulting, I was paying 8.5 times the price of my present QuickBooks SelfEmployed monthly fee and could only use their (disappointing) prescribed Card Reader which cost $200 and performed like a petulant child. (I now use a $19 reader from Square - still learning & suffering with that - but the price is far less painful - in fact the price is a pretty true reflection of the current quality!). As a nice little addition, I’ve also enjoyed some quality, useful Webinars facilitated by QuickBooks - at No Cost. For my specific needs - a struggling Sole Trader electrician - QB SelfEmployed is, thus far, near to perfect.

Got worse.. then it got better.. Started out really easy- everything worked- now...after two recent ‘updates’- can’t split transactions, crashes, hasn’t received emailed receipts- nightmare!! FIX IT!! UPDATE: since the last update, things are working again, and I’ve since learned there was an outage... I would love a ‘raw materials’ category or a ‘consumables’ category, but apart from that, now, things are easy once more.

Easy to use and upload documents on the go. I use this on a daily basis an entrepreneur and rideshare driver. It’s so easy to take photos of receipts straight in the app or track mileage on a daily when I’m driving for multiple rideshare services. I’ve had no dramas with it this far even though I’ve been using it only for a short period of time. Thank u

Not completely ATO compliant. Yes you can get a generic ATO deduction based on kilometres. However, to get the maximum deductions you need to record odometer reading at start and end of financial year, and odometer readings at start and end of full shifts. Self Employed doesn’t have the ability to do this. You need to stop marketing the app in a way that makes people believe they have all the info they need for maximum deductions. I think it’s misleading. So at the moment I’m still using manual Excel spreadsheet. There are other apps out there that allow you to do this so may even consider another app.

Why eliminate perfect features?. I’ve been using this app for almost 3 years and it alway was quite handy and precise to keep my information, but since the last update it seems that the feature to check income and expenses in an specific month is gone, why you have eliminated it? If you want to check the income in July you only have a graphic but it doesn’t show any specific number and then you have to go to transactions and manually calculate them, so what’s the point of having your information with the app?

Easy to use. This app is simple or easy to use. I like the fact that it tracks mileages and store tax invoices. The only thing I’m not sure of (because I can’t find it) was if it’s capable of automatically upload the transactions from your bank account since I connected it to the app. At the moment, I can only see my bank balances but I can’t see the transactions and allocate it accordingly.

Okay. My biggest issue is there are too many steps for a client to be able to see the invoice and I’ve had half a dozen clients not be able to see the invoice at all. Running a babysitting business my clients are parents. They don’t have time with running around after their children to click four links to be able to see the invoice and then to have the invoice not even be readable. The view invoice link on the email should take them straight to the invoice not mess around with opening a browser and then click on more links.

App not tracking trips. This app has been great for the last 4 or 5 years I’ve been using it, up until the last few months the app has started logging me out and not keeping track of my trip, I made sure everything was still tracking, reset it and still having the same problem. I used to rely on it to work out my trip and hours I’ve worked but now I have weeks with no tracking, very frustrating. If that can be fixed that would be awesome!

Has potential to be very good, but serious bugs. I’ve been using this for absolutely everything related to my small business and was going OK with a few minor bugs that I reported to QB. However things got worse, upon producing an excel export of transactions for submitting my GST/BAS my accountant discovered approx 15 transactions out of 40 or so had very unusual GST amounts calculated. E.g. $250 spend, with $320 GST, $15 spend, $32 GST. None of it made sense. So I went back in and re-calculated every single transaction GST amount and discovered further issues where if you edited a transaction spend amount it would automatically change to some other completely random amount later. It was absolutely doing my head in so for this quarter I had to do a fully manual spreadsheet defeating the purpose of using this app. I have emailed support with screenshots and have not received a reply that was two weeks ago.

Keeps crashing - fixed. Crashing issue seems to be fixed. Look forward to seeing how it functions from now on. (2 days ago downloaded app, spent a couple hours sorting out my personal vs business exps, been trying all day to open app but it crashes with a second or two on opening it. I’m sure it would be great if it worked lol)

Worst update ever. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS APP As soon as I can download my info from this app, I will be deleting it from my phone. I used it to track my mileage, since the last update, I have to change every start and end point. It can’t predict or suggest an address close to me at all. Every time I change the address, you need to type the entire address in, because the suggested addresses that appears are in a different country altogether, I’m in Australia, this thing keeps suggesting addresses in Canada. It doesn’t allow you to just change the number of an address anymore, you have to type the entire address back in again. It also tells me an address doesn’t exist that I’ve been traveling to for over a year. I would rate this app as pathetic.

May as well use excel. So read all about this and how it can work for our business, We we’re using excel and the way it reads this system would simplify the process, We’ll after trying it, It was useless and saved no time. Just give me headaches trying to enter all the data, not saving information on invoices and having to enter the information the same way we were using Excel, For the cost of it I can’t see how this can work for you as it doesn’t save any time and you have to use the same time and effort using Excel invoice generator and tracking.

Service went down hill when I started paying. I did the full free trial. I used the app quite extensively during this time and it was responsive and synced regularly. Reminded me that I had transaction and trips waiting to categorise. As soon as I signed up and started paying for the service it no longer seems to sync properly with my bank accounts, it will update the balance when I manually refresh it within the app but not display the transactions to be cataloged. It’s also seemingly stopped tracking my mileage and (apparently) I’ve not made any trips since August! (I drive every day, everywhere!) Don’t know what’s changed or why it’s worse when I’m paying for it - surely it should be better??! Bit of a poor show Quick Books. You’re not making my life much easier right now.

Banned by ANZ for security flaws. SORRY, YOUR REPLY IS FACTUALLY INCORRECT! Why do you even bother showing ANZ Bank in this app if just shows an error page? QuickBooks Self-Employed DOES NOT have the functionality to allow direct bank feeds. You are still leading customers who use THIS version of QuickBooks to enter their full banking customer reference number & password. If you’re an ANZ customer you won’t be able to use this product. QuickBooks Self Employed ask users for their full online banking login details. Because of this they have been banned by ANZ until further notice. Expect other banks to follow suit shortly for this security overreach. Don’t ever give your full login details to anyone, even a well established brand like QuickBooks.

QB has lost all of my transactions. Having spent 15 hours getting ready for tax time between midnight and 8am all work completed has disappeared. In addition functionality on email receipting doesn’t work.... proceed with caution!!!!. The problem with QB’s response below is that I have had daily emails, where no action has been taken and I have had to provide further details and clarification each time. Despite a promised phone call to resolve, phone has never rung. Have cancelled my subscription and wasted time and money.... never again!

Happy with it. Happy with this app. I’ve had it for a few years and it comes in handy as I drive for work. It runs in the background so I don’t have to remember to log my trips and can just go in and categorize them in batches when I have the time.

Fantastic app but pls perfect with a few tweaks. I only got this today and it has been amazing for getting my business organised and relieving me of that pressure of a tonne of tax “bricks” on my shoulders. I am definitely on my way to getting set up and lodges. Unless I am using it wrong for some reason I have to manually go in and classify every single existing transaction, once for category, and once for GST. The rules I set only apply in the future. I get that. But even a “select all” or a “mark several” option would do wonders. Or an apply rule button to all existing bank entries in a date range... they would save hours of tapping away. I guess the phone is supposed to supplement the computer. But my business is mobile and I don’t even have a computer. Lol. Very minor suggestions but all in all a fantastic way to get your taxes and business under control and see exactly what goes in and out and where. Some additional categories would also be invaluable there too or the ability to add custom ones. E g I would really like to list fuel separate from other car expenses.

Could be improved. Easy to use app. Would love some tweaking though. The app needs to be able to input to record odometer readings, I need to be able to reconcile my purchases into custom categories as pretty much all of the categories are not relevant to my business (I am a hair and makeup artist so most of my expenses are in ‘other business expenses’ which won’t help me at the end of the year) and the app should send a receipt to my client when an invoice has been marked as paid.

Nothing less than amazing. Quickbooks is the only way to go when it comes to running a small/micro business. You have all your accounting needs right and your fingertips! And it’s so EASY!!! And beautiful. The only thing it could do is make people pay invoices faster!! 😂 Couldn’t recommend highly enough! 😍

Sole trader km tracking. Since the recent updates my sole trader app isn’t tracking in the back ground anymore although all tracking is allowed even when I’m not using the app now I’m missing about 20 trips each week that would normally be able to go through and sort out of being personal buisness now I have none

Helping me with Tax time 2018. Such a great app, the feeling of taking a photo of my receipts and having them in a safe spot is such a big weight off my shoulders. Love how the app is matched to my bank account really makes it easier to keep track of my spending habits 😀 9 years later I realise there’s an easier option for working for yourself and keeping track of everything. Thanks Guys 👍

A great business relationship with a few hiccups. This app is the best I’ve ever used to help keep my business up to date and efficient. I would recommend it to any sole trader or small business owner. However I would still like to be able to add a catagory if needed in my transactions list for expenses. Not sure if this is possible but Other than that it’s still does what I want it to do.

The help service is shocking. I had an issue with the app in regarding deleting old contacts /customer details that I no longer needed. They directed you to a chat message system, you get to talk to a human not ai or computer then that person tells me sorry we can not help your issue you can provide feedback to the tech team to add this feature I have done it in the past and it did not happen or get a response So unfortunately quick books self employed has a very poor help system, they do not provide an email to write or phone number to verbally talk to resolve issue They will direct in circles or say sorry we couldn’t help hoping that you will give up or palm you off to another department which ends up telling you the same thing Very unprofessional and disappointing I can only hope they see this complaint and try to improve to support there paying clients with better help

Good until you need support. I used this in my small business for 3 years before I hit problems. Please be aware there is no actual human to speak to at this point. I have been waiting patiently for 4 weeks now to speak to a technician who was supposed to help. I have now paid the extra and moved to Xero. This has been an expensive lesson as my accountant had to set it all up and manually enter all data from previous years. Super disappointed.

Inconsistent reliability. I’ve been using QB Self-Employed for over 4 years and have found that most times that I try to change the email body before emailing an invoice directly from the app on my iPad, an error message appears as soon as I hit 'Send'. Only once after a recent app update, this error stopped occurring, but it’s now returned. As a result, I end up having to export/share my invoices via my mail app. Doing it this way loses the advantage of being notified when my invoice has been viewed or paid. What am I actually paying for every month? A suggestion to improve the app aside from the above mentioned would be to be able to save a customised template of the email body, and to automatically remember email addresses entered into CC/BCC, or to automatically include the sender’s email address in the CC/BCC field.

Could be great, if it did all it promised. This app sounded amazing! It was exactly what I wanted and I needed. I was mostly looking at a GPS tracking app, to track my mileage for tax purposes. Tracking my bank accounts was an added bonus. Unfortunately, the app doesn’t track all of my drives. I would hazard a guess that it tracks 40-50% The bank account tracking is off-line and requires re-connections several times per day. I try to re connect ASAP, but still, not all my transactions come across anyway. I don’t understand why the tracking doesn’t always work, it is very inconsistent. I’ll be cancelling my $10/month subscription.

Worth every penny, Just gets Better and Better.. This app is constantly refined and is superb for my use. Reporting a bug is a little cumbersome however. As its just not possible to talk to someone or get a clear email address. A shortcut within the app to do this would be helpful. Highly recommended. Developers please list what each update is correcting rather than 'bug fixes'.

Hard to use. I snap my receipt and it takes many tries to get the whole thing in screen (especially if it has a fold). Then the receipt goes to Pending, so I can’t edit it manually or even delete it!! By the time it’s stopped pending, hours later, I’ve entered lots of others so I can’t find the one I needed to adjust. The better way is to Manually enter the receipt, then snap it (if it’s a bit folded or faded). Also my bank synced once but won’t sync at all any more.

Good but requires improvements. Transaction from the linked bank doesn’t sync to the recent transaction in the app. Not sure how long it will take before the transaction appears in the apps. Also you not allowed to generate invoice without filling in customer’s email! Not many customers prefer to give their email for invoices. The apps should allow the invoice to be generated with either phone number or email. It’s easier to forward invoice in messages. No email needed!

Terrible. After using this app for the last year they cut off my bank account link and tell me it’s my bank that won’t let them connect (spoke to ANZ my bank absolutely not the case) if I upgrade apparently ANZ will connect ?! Obviously a ploy and shifty one at that! I call customer support speak to someone I can hardly hardly understand who says I need to speak with the self employed app People to which I say put me through then please and they inform me that there is no way of talking to them only by the messenger Service?!?! What a joke! So now Need to find a decent bookkeeping app other than this mob suggestions please! Also try and sort all my bank transactions I haven’t been able to !

Great app but still needs improvement. I have been using this app for several days now and it still has not registered my house address properly in the to or from address section. It lists my neighbours on both side & the house across the road but never my house. Sometimes it lists the other addresses wrong also. I have to change something every time I go to update trip info.

Pathetic. This app refuses to save my information for future invoices, it randomly deleted all my invoices only for them to appear 4 months later, often the invoices go to my clients junk mail and when they do receive them it's incredibly fiddly for them to open the invoice. I've gone broke some months because my clients simply haven't seen their invoice and I was unaware. I have tried to contact Quickbooks help and have been ignored multiple times. I'm moving to Xero.

Quickbooks. Great for keeping on top of all your business expenses.

They screwed it up. I was unable to enter correct GST Business number They have it set up for 9 numbers but in Canada the GST Business number is 15 characters. The format of your 15-character account numbers consists of your nine-digit business number followed by a two letter abbreviation denoting the type of account it is, followed by a four digit number. For example, if you have a GST/HST account, your number may look like this: 123456789 RT 0001. I talked to Quick Books and all they said was “that’s the way it is” Quick Books then suggested I upgrade to another more expensive product. Bad customer relations. After several attempts ( you can’t speak to any one, it’s all email) All they want to do is up grade to a more expensive program. It would appear that 5hey just don’t care. I could you trust the upgrade small business if there self employed program is not correct? I do not recommend this product

Waste of time and resources. If I could rate 0 stars I would. The app is glitchy, the invoice service doesn’t work, and customer service can’t do anything to help and barely exists on anything other than painstakingly long waited text messages. To top it off, the desktop version won’t load any of my data so I can import to the online version rather than the self employed version. Very very unsatisfactory experience and would not recommend this app to anyone looking for this kind of service.

App not processing payment. After the initial offer for 99c, I battled trying to process the payment . It said it went through but then the error message came up every time … not recommended.

Avoid this app if you use Scotiabank. It's been over a year and this app has gradually not interacted with Scotiabank anymore. I've called and messaged and nothing has changed. The app used to at least give me some capabilities if I reverified by bank account but now does literally nothing unless I login to the website, reverify and then the newest transactions will show on the app. This app is not useful if you use Scotiabank.

Help. Why can't I print a report for my tax period and tag items on my app?

HORRIBLE!!!. DONT BE FOOLED DEAR LORD, customer service doesn't exist here. Overall terrible service in every aspect, dont waste you time.

Problems posting transaction since iOS update. I hope there’s a fix soon. Since updating to iOS 11 I can longer post receipts

Doesn't allow for Self-Emoloyed to charge GST only. Doesn't allow for Self-Emoloyed to charge GST only, which is a crucial feature for me. They have ridiculous workaround where you don't include tax and then add the 5% as a separate item. I also can't seem to specify a specific date for each invoices item. For those reasons, I immediately cancelled. When I signed up, I paid for a subscription but cancelled less than 5-minutes later but am now subscribed for a whole month. I contacted QB support and they gave me a phone number to contact Apple to get a refund on the subscription. After several tries of being given the automated runaround and never speaking to an actual human, I decided to stop wasting my time. If you still want to try this product, do it, but as a trial and make sure it's what you want before subscribing. I got sucked in because they placed an ad for a discount as soon as I signed up so I signed up without checking it out first.

Not worth it. If you accidentally unsubscribe even for a day they will loose all your data. No support as no number or email. Only support is chat which is not helpful ( quickbook is different to “quickbook self employed). I did research an a lot of accountant hate self employed quickbooks. Honestly disappointed and i have to do more accounting at the end even though I paid for the app that suppose to help me.

Why do they have this app??. This is totally different from the QuickBooks online app. There is no customer service. You can't transfer data to online version when you decide to upgrade. The app only works on iPhone. No iPad version. Waste of money.

Business owner. Why is there no space to insert a P. O. Or an address Why is there no space or mention that interest will be charged on overdue invoices???

Quickbooks. Don’t buy it. Paid and never used it one time. Now it wants me to buy it again. You will never see your money again. No one to talk to. I also use TurboTax. That program had major issues this year. No customer service to answer questions. Company has significant management and customer service issues... not to mention software glitches. Well we were contacted by a bot after the above posted review. The bot thankfully sent us back to the same places we had spent hours already. It wants us to look up our issue amongst thousands of other questions. We have already done that. Poor stupid bot (dripping with sarcasm) . We just want our money back customer service bot. Is there less than one star. I haven’t even used the software to give it one star.

Convient App for small business!. Saves a lot of time and paper!

No help, no customer support. No help from QuickBooks /Intuit if you have the self employed package and the app. Try and call customer service, they say they can’t help and then transfer you to the USA and of course they can’t help. Not impressed at all - not worth the money

Hopeless. It wont give quarterly sales tax rioorrs and the help is hopeless

Owner. Easy and affordable to use for a small business owner. Tracking which invoices are paid is simple and organized. You can't beat the "capture receipt" function either!

Forget it, not worth a plumb nickel. 45 minutes so far on hold, two weeks of useless back and forth with “support”, online Chat support that was a waste of time, and still cannot use APP or desktop - if you want an idea of what is in store, just click on the App support link next to the review button. That’s all you need to know. Try to find something else. So finally got through to Support after 71 minutes, not his department, is trying to find someone to transfer me to, I’m guessing he’ll give up and hang up on me. To his credit, he didn’t hang up on me, but failing to find anyone to help me, he has promised that someone from QuickBooks selfEmployed would call me “first thing” tomorrow morning. I won’t hold my breath...good thing I didn’t hold my breath, that call “first thing in the morning” still hasn’t happened.

Quick Books Self Employed. It doesn’t work. Mileage is tracked when the app feels like it. And you cannot categorize receipts or split them or even separate out the applicable amount of tax. A complete waste of time.

Support for bank integration is horrible. This app cannot handle two step verification anymore. Constantly have to confirm with my bank and now it doesn’t match up transactions and I get zero support from the app. *update still not fixed even If I manually verify accounts no transactions populate*

Stopped populating transactions. Randomly stopped pulling bank transactions and will not reconnect, waste of money!

Stop! Do not buy!. Worst app no features

Review. I gave had constant issues with my mobile app staying current with and updating transactions. Although they show up when I log into my desktop, they do not update on my app. I have logged several calls with the technical team but the issue remains. This is a very frustrating situation as I try to use the app over the desktop. Thanks, Declan O’Reilly

QuickBooks App. Continuing problems with tracking mileage every time there is an update. Wow!

Development improvements. All in all when the app works properly it’s great but it has been very laggy and full of bugs for the past couple months.

Consistency issues with transaction tracking. I’ve had the app for a while now and have the odd time where there’s a bank connection issue and I have to disconnect and reconnect my bank. Unfortunately, since the beginning of the new year, it hasn’t tracked a single transaction, despite disconnecting and reconnecting my bank several times I tried reaching out to the chat. Someone entered the chat, but didn’t reply, super frustrating will be looking into other services similar with hopefully better experience

so frustrating. this app constantly freezes

Would give zero stars if possible. Mileage tracking does not work consistently and no matter how many reports I’ve sent in, no one has contacted me nor fixed the issue. Tracking is literally the most important aspect of this app for me and it is remarkably frustrating, unreliable and useless.

Mileage tracking. Mileage tracking used to be quite consistent. Recently it only seems to track about 20% of trips and is completely random with which ones. Using iPhone 13 with iOS 17.

No ability to change payment method. I’d like to subscribe for my business but system will not allow me to choose a payment method and forces me to use a personal account associated with App Store. Nobody seems able to help. Just send me on to the next person. Very frustrating. Doesn’t matter how good your product is if your customer service sucks.

Frustrating. I downloaded this app, started using it, then realized it was the American version, even though I’m in Canada. Tried to switch it over. Now every time I open the app it switches back and forth between the two versions, and I’m also being charged double. And no one can tell me how to fix it. Bad customer service and glitchy app.

Doesn’t work. I have been doing it for months putting the paperwork in it’s not connecting the transactions to the deposits, and when I try to run reports are totally messed up so discouraged.

The best! Best’. Love this app, honestly changed so much in my life… so much stress poof just gone… than you!!!

Issues with bank connectivity with Canadian banks. It’s only a month into 2024 and this was my last chance to use this app to keep track of transitions etc. and ALREADY there is a week and a half missing of transactions, even with recorded receipts so yet again I will have to at the end of the year go through bank statements month by month as I had to for 2022 and 2023, making this app obsolete other than sending invoices. Oh and if you’re in Canada good luck they don’t even have a phone number for you to call you can only chat through the app and you have to keep the chat open and you’re phone can’t lock even though it can take up to 30 minutes for a real person to respond and they can’t even recover lost data anyways and getting a real person is impossible half the time. What is going on quickbooks?? You were great for 2 years.

Customer service is AWFUL. Convenient app has been helpful in helping me track income and expenses for my small property rental business. Unfortunately, the experience has been marred by my encounters with customer service EVERY TIME I’ve needed assistance or support. 1) Software bug resulting in tax statement error: Reported this issue and they said they would need to investigate it and follow up. No email follow-up. Months later, I receive an email communication apologizing for the delay and offering a solution completely unrelated to my initial issue (very likely intended for someone else’s support ticket). Didn’t inspire confidence. I fixed the issue manually in my spreadsheets and gave up on Intuit support team addressing the issue with the tax statement. 2) I receive an email from Intuit alerting me that my QuickBooks Self-Employed service would end in 7 days unless I “subscribe now”. I followed the call-to-action button to ensure I could continue running my business. I am would now be charged $15/month via Intuit direct billing instead of $10/mo via ApplePay. But surprise! My initial subscription’s monthly charge via iTunes ALSO kept being charged. Noting that something was clearly amiss, I contacted support. They took responsibility for the email having been sent to all 3rd party subscribers “in error”, but they since they had now irreversibly transitioned my billing from ApplePay to Intuit direct billing (at $5/mo more), nothing could be done, even though they acknowledged this was a completely unnecessary step to keep my account active (contrary to the email notification). I followed up with Customer Support to either have the billing change undone or apply a $5/mo credit for the difference. The agent suggests it was my fault for following the call-to-action, suggesting that *all other* 3rd-party (eg Apple) subscribers had had the good sense to inquire with Intuit first and managed to avoid this issue. (Insinuating that I was the 1st person in the world stupid enough to follow the call-to-action and that was not their problem.) The worst of it is that they know thousands of 3rd-party subscribers received this deceptive communication in error, and their response is not to issue a public communication taking responsibility and crediting their accounts for any difference in price, but rather, customer support would only acknowledge the error as proactive customers took the time out of their day to contact Intuit about it. Expected more from Intuit than DECEPTIVE business practices and talk about an absolutely disgraceful way to treat a paying customer. Waiting to see the results of this issue being escalated and will update this review / adjust my rating accordingly! Edit: it gets worse! Supervisor Ivana S. contacted me on Nov 23 and continued to frame the issue as my user error (no mention of Intuit’s misleading Nov 10 email), but mercifully, she would offer 20% off for 3 months. It appears they feel it should cost them no more than $9 total to con me into a 50% monthly bill increase. Escalated to Better Business Bureau!

Very buggy, huge lack of support. Worked well for a couple of weeks. All of a sudden lost ability to email invoices and collect credit card payment. Technical support is only done through chat and they don’t offer any solution.

Not very good.. Not very good.

"You’re so passive aggressive". It looks like a nice clean app to send my invoices and track my expenses. Amazing! I’m happy to subscribe as soon as I am prompted. Definitely worth the money. Perfect, time to send my first invoice. Oh wow, this is going to save me so much time. Let’s just enter my province for the automatic tax calculation. Hey that’s weird. Quebec isn’t there. "Right now this app doesn’t support Quebec and QST" My partner asks "don’t you think they should have said that when they saw your Quebec phone number?" What an idea, guys.

Vehicle expense failure. If you want to use this software to track your vehicle expenses for tax purposes, beware! It auto tracks the trips you take just fine but it fails to do the math on the expense total x the business use % in the tax summary and reports. This makes then entire tax summary incorrect and the reports incorrect too. I reported this and went through hours of online chat support (because phone support is not available for this version) to be told it doesn’t do this!!! What’s the point of accounting software that doesn’t do the math! Beware. It also has a bug in the business use of vehicle %. On the trips report it tells me I used 28.41% and on the tax summary it tells me it’s 1588% and then says my deduction is $0. Very wrong and no help so far. Not happy after paying for this software for 3 years. This needs to be fixed. ASAP. Edit- This review got me an email on the subject. It’s clear to me now that QuickBooks knows this occurs and hasn’t tried to fix it. They have applied the “standard” method of reporting instead of the “Actual” method, apparently. This means do the math yourself! I have requested that the user should be able to choose the method and the software should then do the math accordingly. Right now, no choice. We’ll see what happens.

Good not great. You will quickly find the limitations and a certain lack of professionally with this app

Wish I could add expense categories. I wish there was a solution to create expense categories. Categorizing all vehicle expenses as “Motor Vehicle Expenses” doesn’t help at tax time when I need to list Fuel, Repairs & Maintenance, Insurance etc all separately. Same for the very generic “Other Business Expenses”. If I have to separate them all anyway, I might as well use a spreadsheet.

Great for small business. Great product

Terrible. The app doesn’t sent emails, invoices paid don’t show as income, and terrible customer service and support.. don’t waste your money or time.

Pretty good. I switched to this app for my small business for the mileage tracking aspect. So handy to go through my locations and mark whether personal or business. Everything else is fairly easy to figure out. One problem I’ve found is with the invoicing and credit card payments —there’s no way I can charge the credit card fee to the customer instead. My other invoicing system gave me the option to choose. Also, I wish I could create price quotes on here to send my clients.

Simple & convenient!. Love this app! Makes life so much easier!

Worst. Worst Customer service, can’t select fiscal year end

So many problems. I’ve been using this for over a year. Ultimately it’s been a huge waste of money, but I have stuck with it because i don’t want to put in the work learning/migrating to a new app. My recommendation - STAY AWAY! Don’t buy it for mileage tracking, unless you want to create extra work for yourself and drain your battery. Receipt snap is a good feature that works quite well, but then the app has a bunch of dumb rules that will make it impossible to actually file your transactions (it seems to want to see a credit card transaction to match the invoices you put in, so cash invoices sometimes just sit in the “unresolved” section forever. Issues are one thing, but when you encounter them the customer support is bizarre and terrible. I’ve now had several interactions with them and they have been consistent unhelpful, sometimes rude and mostly I’ve left each interaction feeling like I know the software better than the person I’m speaking with. To make things worse, BEFORE you speak to a human you have to deal with a chat bot that is so useless that you’re already filled with rage by the time it gives you a person to chat with. So, millions of bugs aside, most recently the app has become completely useless. About two weeks ago, it simply stopped allowing me to save or send invoices. THIS FROM A FREAKING INVOICE APP!! What’s the damn point of an app that doesn’t perform its primary function? Stay away. This company is very happy to charge you $10 a month for the rest of your life, but they don’t seem to be that interested in spending any of that money on develoment or support.

Not suitable for Quebec. No Québec sales tax option.

Signed up for 3 months only to discover the QB for self-employed does not permit inclusion of Quebec sales tax.

Customer service is poor & errors with accounts syncing!. No accounts are syncing. Tried over & over again… still no luck. Customer service has yet to get back to me & it’s been months. I’ve contacted them multiple times!

Rename to Ridiculously Slow Books. This app and their customer service is ridiculous. If I only use the app I can log into my account without a problem. As soon as I try to log in on a computer I get caught up in an endless loop of ads trying to get to me subscribe to their service. I already pay for their service via the app store. I finally got fed up and decided to chat with a rep today. After 10 min I was given a customer service number. I have been on hold for 28 minutes as of this moment. I’m typing this review while I wait on hold. The service will not import transactions from my credit card. It claims it is linked but always tells me to try again in an hour or two to import transactions. So I am stuck fighting an endless loop of ads so can attempt to sign into my account on my computer so I can use a real keyboard to type in the transactions or spend hours typing them in on my cell phone. I did manage to link my bank account to the app only to find it randomly imports transactions more than once severely inflating my books and skewing my numbers. I have contacted quickbooks about this in the past and their response was, yeah we know. Its your banks fault not ours. So I have to police the app regularly to make sure my numbers are accurate. (Still on hold with customer service. Its been 42 minutes now. I’ve been in an on line chat with one of their agents for 37 minutes!)

Consistently malfunctions & virtually no app support. I use this app to track ridesharing miles. It consistently misses entire days and hundreds of miles — repeatedly I ensure that I have the newest version of the app and that all the necessary settings on my phone are on that Quickbooks tells you to have on for auto tracking. In the app you can submit logs to them to have them fix the issue when this occurs — I’ve done this dozens of times and never heard back any confirmation of anyone working on the issue nor any response from Quickbooks at all. It has become an issue I repeat going through about 2-3 times a week and then some days it will work fine. All in all, this app is supposed to make it easier to track your miles for tax purposes and I’m quickly getting convinced it’d be easier and far more accurate if I tracked my miles by pen and pad. What good is this service they’re offering if it only works 30% of the time and then they don’t respond to you when you submit logs to them for a data fix? Atrocious.

Love The App Interface & Tracking But The Background Usage. I love the way this app tracks mileage, transactions, and invoices. It is ideal for all of my small business needs. The only problem I have is the amount of battery it uses on my phone. I have a IPhone I have had for 2 years now and have never had issues ever but after having this months a little over 3 months I notice my battery life is terribly drained. I have a job where I can charge my phone all day at will be even then I find myself closing out all extra apps, turning brightness to minimal, and checking daily what my phone battery health looks like, all while wondering if I am needing to update my phone or app because of a functionality issue. I have set up an appointment with Apple to where I don’t know what else to do. I also on the weekends turned my location off and notice that my phone is near perfect again making me realize the background usage really impedes my phone.

Crashes TOO often.... Honestly the app itself is great, but the frequency in the crashing is frustrating... I’ve been doing Instacart a lot recently and I use this app to calculate my miles mostly, but there’s been several times where I would have to re-download the app so that way it could take me to the mileage tracker without it crashing on me. Seeing that I’m always on the go I want to track these quickly and correctly so I can get the best outcome for my returns. There’s also delays in when the mileage is tracked which is very inconvenient... I should be able to track my mileage when I arrive to my destination, but I find myself getting unorganized because it takes 30+minutes to get the mileage tracked on this app. Everything else on the app seems to be running fine, but once again I’m mostly trying to track mileage, and seeing as these problems keep occurring, I can’t recommend any other delivery driver to download this app and the 1 star will be here to stay unfortunately...

Can’t even upgrade account. Spent days. Service is awful still haven’t been upgraded to advanced. Worst experience ever. I’ve invested over 6 hours trying to upgrade my account to advanced. QuickBooks can’t even make a sale easy!!! Over $6000 of my time invested in a company that just doesn’t get how to make a sale or how to take care of a customer. I can’t even try to spend $90 month for an advanced plan without getting tortured, losing money, and still without resolution. Buyer beware!! All of your business details are controlled by these people and they can’t even upgrade an account. Beyond disappointed. Shame people don’t understand how to make sales go smoothly and how to take care of a customer. Most importantly is valuing the customers time and taking responsibility for failures!!!!! To date I’ve lost over $6000 try to work with QuickBooks and I still don’t have a simple upgrade complete. Time to look at the alternatives.

worst app i have ever used.. you can make invoices in a fraction of the time with just word or excel. takes forever. no way to import or attach back up or expenses. no way to add more than one email address to senders. no way to add more than 1 project on an invoice or invoice detail. no calculator. doesn’t even have BASIC formatting, editing—nada nothing. Can’t bold, underline, etc. if you need to add a new invoice line item or need to re-arrange your invoice line items, you have to DELETE the entire invoice to do so and start over. lacks even basic functionality available 20 years ago. invoices don’t save after you spend hours working on them (as creating them takes forever) and there is NO AUTO SAVE!! how they can charge for this product incomprehensible. no customer support. there has not been 1 product upgrade EVER to address lack of basic features or the countless questions frustrated users post.

Locked out of account. I’ve been locked out of my account for a month now. I’ve been locked out for no apparent reason. I have contacted customer service 6 times now and haven’t gotten my issue resolved. I can’t even create a new account because it’s like the whole website/app/program is down. There are important documents I need to fill out for a client that I can’t because I need an account to do it. It’s pathetic. Customer service is garbage because after spending a LONG time talking to them, they just keep telling you to submit forms that don’t even work. Then they make you hang up with them before the issue is resolved and wait for them to solve the problem, which never happens. They say they’re going to send progress updates but never do, so I’m left hoping for a resolution that never happens. Now it looks like live chat is down too. I’m so exhausted. I just want my account back…how hard can it be? Jeez.

Happy user. I have loved Quick Books from the very beginning of y’all start. I’m been small business user on & out from the start. I love the App for its easy & handiness. There are somethings I miss like attaching job# to each trains actions. Would be nice to attach job # or invoice # so you could run profit/loss report per job. I’m getting the hang of using the invoice tab. My customer want y’all to add a window for their Job/Work order # & job address/info up by the invoice Date & Number. I would like to be able to insert a new service or part in between the others because I always forget something then have to redo all the others items so that the one I missed will be in order. Other than a few little things like that I love it.

Great tools to have for self-employed. This App is very useful not just with rideshare individual. It can be useful for other occupations as well as regular workforce personnel. It does all the math on your receipts, auto categorize it, user can import/export email data. Track your earning, expense, mileage. As well as pre-fill your tax form. Link your bank, created invoice for payment. There is a feed for using invoice services. Which i dont understand, because ur paying a subscription monthly. Which I assumes it should be free. I guess $10/month is not enough. If your generating 10/20 invoice a month. Your subs just became more than $10 already. Also. “Your Name Are Your Business Name by default” because you pay taxes under that social security. If you choose anything other than your name. You will have to register and get a business EIN.

Love this app as a super valuable business tool!. I love that this app will track my trips and that I can also auto categorize many of my typical business expenses! I get so overwhelmed with a paper mess, and the ability to snapshot my business pertinent receipts is a wonderful space saving feature! My only disappointment as some one that commutes ALOT between job locations is that this app does not yet have the ability to auto categorize certain locations as business trips. It’s currently the middle of November, and I have over 500 trips to categorize! I just can’t seem to catch up! 🤪 I called CS a couple months ago and was told auto categorizing trips was a feature in the works. I’m hoping that it’s released before the end of the year! Overall though, I am very pleased with this program as an invaluable business tool and look forward to using it for years to come!

Quite unreliable. The mobile app is very unreliable, especially with mileage tracking. Trips often don’t show up for days, but if you fully quit the app (even restart phone) they appear. I’ve entered trips manually that did not show up, then found the duplicate a day or two later. Too much baby sitting what is supposed to be a highly automated system. Also got message there was a connection problem with my credit card. The problem was with my personal card (which I had to cancel due to fraud), so I deleted that card. The problem was my business card is with the same bank and it deleted everything with that bank. When I reconnected my business card, I had to go through every transaction for the year to categorize them and rescan all the receipts. Huge time sink. I will dump this app if these kinds of issues persist. It is not a good value and might be more work than my old manual spreadsheet method.

Has potential but missing basic features & functionality. I turned to Quickbooks in an effort to streamline my accounting. I’m still using the free trial period and have nearly inputted three months of expenses but the deeper I dive, the more disappointed I am. Although I’ll admit that because I’ve spent so much time and energy getting every into the app, I’ll most likely end up paying to keep it. In some aspects the app is great - storing receipt photos, quick glance summary, etc. However, it lacks some really basic functionality/features/capabilities and it’s extremely frustrating because something seemingly simple like categorizing expenses takes a painfully long time because an expense doesn’t fit into the options given and there’s no way to create or rename a category. A customer service rep advised me that the categories are straight from the IRS Schedule C however, a schedule C makes a distinction between raw materials, shipping supplies and office supplies. Quickbooks does not. It would also be nice to be able to select several transactions at once and categorize them or exclude them with the click of a drop down. It’s absurd to have to go into every transaction manually when this basic function exists even in my email account. The mileage portion of the app doesn’t always work even though it’s set to auto track. I have MileIQ running concurrently and it tracks every mile accurately. And lastly, why is Square not supported?

Fake Misleading Advertising. The assumption is that with this app you can take a picture of a receipt, and the data is automatically entered into a database, so that you can keep track of expenses. This is totally false, because the OCR technology for cellphones is not yet good enough to do that. That is compounded by the fact that many receipts you get have been printed by printers low on ink, etc. So what Quickbooks is pushing is nothing but a picture app, like the picture/image app in every cellphone, and a database where you need to manually enter in the data yourself. There are many Scanner apps that have OCR capability, but not good enough for receipts. I’ve been designing databases since the 80s, and would love to see an OCR that was that good. So far I have used many OCR apps, and the best one I have seen is on an app called ScannerPro which is only available for iOS. My oldest daughter’s husband is a programmer for the company Nuance who is the leader in OCR technology, and he explained to me the many problems.

Receipt scanning workflow is ridiculous. You want to scan your receipt immediately after purchase so you don’t lose it or forget, right? Wrong. When the transaction comes in from the bank, usually the next day, it won’t link it to the receipt you scanned because the dates aren’t the same. So you get two transactions. QB wants you to wait until the transaction processes about 3 days later (note NOT when the transaction first appears because you can’t do ANYTHING with it while it’s pending like add a note or category) and THEN scan the receipt. Which you’ll forget to do, or have lost it, or otherwise just get behind and never get around to it. BAD design. Concur let’s you scan a receipt into a library and then you can go join it to a transaction later. Which is better but still not as good as just using a simple algorithm that id the vendor and amount are identical and the date within a day or two its the same transaction, or if that’s too risky just let the user MERGE two transactions

DO NOT USE THIS APP, USELESS!. I wanted to love this app. I stuck it out like a bad relationship. I went through all the trouble of making sure all my stuff was set up correctly, all my accounts were logged in etc. I was so excited! This was going to make life so much easier and give peace of mind and ease to being self employed. Oh was I WRONG. At first it was ok. Maybe a few days. I literally spent hours filing the whole years transactions (linked to bank account) into their specific categories. Then the problems began. Duplicate and triplet transactions. Check my bank account. Nothing wrong there. I go into weeks long back and forth with customer support. “We’re working on it”. Week goes by. No change. Another week and emails, no change. Now. Not only does the duplicate/triple transactions make it 10x the work if you were to just write it out on paper, but the app has thrown every single transaction I filed back into the “transactions to review” section as if they had never been done! Leaving me to do ALL...OVER...AGAIN. It does the same thing with mileage tracking. What. A. Joke. Lol This could have been so amazing...and yet, it is so so so terrible leaving you frustrated for ever spending the time energy and hours all to have nothing to show for it. It riddled with bugs and should be avoided at all costs!! Please take my advice and save the time. Use another app

Hasn’t worked for months. I have used this app for years and the past 5 months it has not worked properly and they have no idea on when/if the issues will be fixed. I can not access invoices after I have created them so I can’t send reminders or mark when paid. It won’t connect to my bank account so I can not categorize my weekly spending. Because of both of these things I can not properly track month profits and losses. This app has been useless for months aside from writing initial invoices. My third time calling to see if it will be fixed they did not have answers to that but offered me half off my monthly bill for three months, which I have one month left of and then will be canceling my subscription and finding something functional. I gave two stars as I did really like this app and it served me well for years. I would love to go back to 5 stars but it needs to do the features it advertises and I’m paying for.

Trash. Constantly have to wait for payments, no customer service, too many issues with platform. Update after speaking to A representative nothing has changed, was told that my payments “Batch out” as soon as I received them and it’s nothing QuickBooks can do..I recently paid $300 in fees for 1 transaction that was $9500, the money didn’t come instantly which is a scam have to wait 1-2 days for the money unlike PayPal where I have always received my money instantly without issue. I had another customer pay me $530 today, I selected to receive the money instantly, had to pay a fee on the money and it still has not been deposited instantly. The fees are not worth it, the monthly subscription is not worth it. Quick books payments are trash I have had more that 100k come through it for the little 6 months that I have had the platform and it’s been nothing but issues and more fees, I would recommend a different platform. “PAYPAL” is better and it doesn’t cost as much.

Only one business?. I really want to love this app, but I’m not there yet. Between my husband and I we have four businesses. One Sole Proprietorship, two LLCs, and an S-Corp - and they all do very different things. I’m trying to figure out how at attend to them all in this one app. It doesn’t seem possible. I’m not sure the app is worth only attending to one of them... Edit: I received a response to this review from Caitlin letting me know that the app isn’t for me because it’s only for businesses with no employees. So let me clarify, none of our businesses have more than one employee (my husband’s business is his, I’m just better at tracking paperwork, something I don’t get paid for). Apparently Intuit doesn’t understand that in this new economy it is necessary to earn a living doing several different things. Yes, people work more than one job. Yes, people have more than one business, and it would be great if their app was able to reflect that.

Better off with an accountant. Little too confusing. With quickbooks in general 1. State sales tax is NOT clear and current with rules as applies to very small business sales across states sales and applicable rules as applies individually to small business needs 2. I signed up and there is multiple ports of access to quickbooks. Not just one. Meaning you think you signed up for one and than there are multiple. Online/ small business/ quickbooks this quickbooks that…. Product needs one portal to sign in on that automatically navigates the user to their account… multiple portals with multiple product that really offer the same service. Is super confusing. Honestly the whole platform is confusing and not user friendly. Web page platform is antiquated and not user friendly to use on cellphones. App is too limited… and is it’s own separate application from the online product. Too many products, not user friendly.

Not that great, very disappointed.. Things seem to work ok at best. Can not save/print an invoice without entering an email address. I don’t sell online so not too many customers provide an email, and they shouldn’t have to if they don’t want to. No option for creating estimates either. Makes my physical business harder to run and track than other softwares out there. Quick books has really fallen off the band wagon here. Also, takes several days for payments to be transferred to bank account. I’ve used free software that performed better and paid me faster for the same exact percentage. Thinking I’ll be switching back to the free software( by another company) since life was much easier then. Too bad, I had high hopes for this app. The only plus to this one is the mileage tracker, but I can manually track that and still come out ahead. Disappointed.

Has great potential. I have been using QuickBooks Self-Employed for a couple years now, and find it does a pretty fair job. I have contact support a few times to inquire about some additional options, and sadly didn’t get the results I was hoping for. A few items that would be super helpful would be: 1. The ability to mark items as a quote instead of an invoice. 2. Have an option on the payment page to add a “tip”, currently you would have to ask the client if they would like to leave a tip and then add it as a line item. Not very helpful. 3. Time tracking on the app. I know it is currently available online (desktop version), but being able to utilize it on the app would be helpful as well for cost breakdown.

Do it!. You need this app! I am a one-man operation and this app is really amazing. I've set up everything that I need to for my business online and it's like that oven on tv where you "set it and forget it". I teach private music lessons and I don't have time to waste on handwriting everything and remembering who paid and who didn't, what I spent etc. I trust this company, as my dad used intuit software in the early 90's, and neither he nor I have had any issues with hacking or viruses. This is a very safe app to use (especially if you're linking your bank account). The mileage tracker is pretty darn close to accurate, however, for some reason all gps mileage trackers will say you drove if you go for hike/walk. So just be aware of that. All in all, these programmers know what they're doing and have done an excellent job creating a USER FRIENDLY app. Get it.

A Business Essential!. Using this app has streamlined all my needs - money in, money out, mileage, etc. - into one location. Having it all in one place AND being able to set rules for reoccurring transactions has saved me a lot of time which, as a business owner, in invaluable. Sending a customized invoice is a breeze and it even allows you to see when it’s been viewed and resend if necessary. Takes a lot of the awkwardness out of having to follow up with clients about payment for goods and services. I love being able to see all my transactions in various charts and graphs for a quick visual of my spending/earning ratio as well as a quarterly tax estimate to keep you honest with the IRS. If you’re an entrepreneur - particularly a solopreneur - I would HIGHLY recommend using quick books self employed!

10/10 RECOMMEND!!. MUCH BETTER than paying an accountant! This app makes it EXTREMELY easy to do all of the accounting yourself and you don’t even have to have experience with accounting! I did actually recommend this to a business friend today actually! I love this app so so much! There is one thing I do have to say though, on my TurboTax app it gives you the option to connect this app to it & every time I try on that app it says to try again later that the system is busted right now so I kept trying on different days and the days would be daysssss & daysssss apart from eachother each time I tried it again and it still said the same thing... please please please fix that so I can EASILY file my taxes online with these 2 apps! Thank you!

Still so many problems, so sad…. A few years ago, I would have and did recommend this app to all of my self-employed friends and coworkers. But over the years it has gone downhill quickly. The rule setting in the transactions is all screwed up, and there’s no real way to fix it yourself, it keeps telling me that an invoice hasn’t been paid that was paid years ago, it also keeps including transactions from years ago so I’m constantly having to delete them.I have been searching for another tax app and business app that works as well as QuickBooks self-employed did when it first started. Problem is there really isn’t anything else like it out there that I have found. Today an update was finally issued to updated the app which was supposed to fix “bugs” but now my bank accounts are completely screwed up. And I pay for the premium.🙄

Easy to use. This app is exactly what I wanted. Something that would track my expenses and mileage with minimal effort on my end. Expenses take only a bit more time during set up, because you have to assign each one until you get most set up on auto-assign, but that’s very easy. I just check in on my trips every few days and a quick swipe is all that’s needed to tell it which trips were business. A lot of people will say to just track your expenses and mileage yourself on paper, but the yearly cost of this app, while it seems like a lot all at once, is minimal compared to the amount of time I’d spend tracking myself, plus the peace of mind that I haven’t forgotten to write some down. Saved me thousands on my taxes last year. I definitely recommend this app.

Ambivalent Appreciation for the App. I really love most of the things this app does. I haven’t any problems with tracking my mileage. I personally don’t sync my bank account with the app so that’s not an issue for me because I use my bank for personal reasons so it’s easier for me to just manually enter what I need. I love that I can upload a picture of a receipt to my transactions. My biggest issue with this app is the fact that I cannot send my customers an electronic receipt when they’ve paid me!!! This is so unprofessional!!! Also I’d like to be able to send an invoice to more than one person at the same time. Theses are very simple things to add on as features. Also, there’s no way to add tax or to compute the fee that I lose every time customers pay me electronically. I’d have to manually calculate. Additionally, the customer service is absolutely deplorable. I’ve called or emailed or chatted with very little resolve.

Great for a Musician Business With Only One Flaw. I having been using QuickBooks Online for a while and think it is great. As someone who is a self employed musician, I love the ease of being able to store contacts in it and have quick access to create invoices and keep info when giving estimates for my overall price for the gig. However, I didn’t have the ability to count the miles to and from gigs that is where QuickBooks Self Employed came. Once I downloaded the app using the free trial offer, I saw that I could track my miles to and from my gigs and that caused me to sign up along with being able to see my income as my profit. The only thing I do not like about the Self Employed version is the fact that I cannot save my client’s info, give estimates, or create different categories. Overall great product.

Simplified, Basic Self-Employed Accounting - Great for receipt archiving. I use QB Self Employed as a simple back up to my quickbooks desktop. It automatically downloads transactions from Etsy, PayPal and many banks so I can get a quick overview of my financials. The most important feature is to upload and store digital copies of my receipts. The AI technology is amazing at scanning receipts and pulling data from them. The $12 a month price for the service is good deal for that feature. Plus I also like how I can keep track of my personal expenses to make better budgeting decisions. I love how the app keeps me up to date with my current financial overview. But any proper small business will need to use a more advanced version of quickbooks with full chart of account and balance sheet reporting. That is not available with Quickbooks self employed.

Payment issues/No assistance. My invoice was marked as paid, it’s been about 4 weeks or so and I’m still waiting on the money to be deposited into my account. I contacted support through the app chat and was told they can’t help me with that and that I need to contact a different department. The support department hours conflict with my work schedule and there are no after hours support. Don’t expect to get assistance with any issues. On top of not getting paid a refund was given to the customer for overpayment. *UPDATE* I finally made contact with the support department. I was advised I didn’t receive payment because the payment was disputed by the customer. After further review by support it was determined it wasn’t disputed by the customer and that it was labeled as disputed due to the customer having insufficient funds. They explained I should have received an email notifying me of the disputed transaction, which I did not receive. They explained that there was nothing they could do and that I would have to get in contact with the customer for payment. I am no longer in contact with the customer although if I would have been properly notified I could have handled the situation when I was still in contact. So not only did I not receive payment, the customer accepted the refund for overpayment knowing they did not make the payment. The refund was only given because notification from intuit advised I had been paid. This service is completely unreliable.

Useless if you have more than one gig. I’m self-employed and work in the gig economy. I do a mix of independent contractor work, but QB self-employment can only accommodate one gig. It’s features are pretty basic for the cost, the mileage tracker will drain your battery faster too, which isn’t helpful if you’re out driving to gigs all day. I tried to cancel my subscription in the app and it just keeps saying “wait don’t go!” Then won’t actually cancel my subscription. I tried to get help and their bot keeps saying to do the exact steps I’ve been doing to cancel, but on a computer. Why is there an option to cancel on the mobile app if you need a computer to do it? I’m not impressed with the app, would rather just keep track of everything manually than pay for partial record keeping and a dead phone. This would work great for someone only working one gig, and who doesn’t need their phone through their gig.

Multimillion dollar company sticks it to small businesses. I am leaving quick books due to it taking so long to get paid (even though on of their sale pitches is “get paid faster”). I had a client pay though ACH on the invoice on February 10th the money came out of my clients account on the 11th but here on the 17th still waiting for my money. Client could have mailed the check by now and it be in my account already. Their merchant team will tell you ACH rules is 5-7 days and it’s out of their control. This is a lie ACH rules is 1-4 days. I’ll be moving over to Freshbooks who will issue ACH in 1-4 days. They will charge me 1% fee but it tops out at $10. Which I am totally fine with to not have to wait on my hard earned money. Goodbye Quickbooks!

Great app, hard on battery when mileage tracking is on. Hi QB SE team, Been using this app for a little over a year now, I’m also a TurboTax customer so the integration is nice to have. Sometime over the last month or two the auto mileage tracking feature while normally pretty easy on my battery life has been consuming 15-35% of battery according to iOS battery settings. The wildest part is I haven’t left my house that much at all. So it’s just chugging away while I sit on my couch. Today I haven’t gone anywhere, and this app has consumed 15% of my battery. I’m on latest iOS 15 and latest version of QBSE. Otherwise great app, fix the new battery life issue and I’m back to five stars. :) I run a sole proprietorship and this app is the best option for taxes and accounting for a business of this size.

No phone support but can charge you $4.99 a month?. I really wanted to like this app. Used it for about a month And worked great. Then came the software update. Which logged me out of my bank information and self-employed Apple account. Once I logged back into the app and tried to add my bank information I kept trying to do it for a week and could not log into my bank. I reached out via phone and was told there is no phone support (but they’re OK with taking your money monthly right?) I was told to go to the website and start a live chat. The person on the chat told me that they don’t provide chat support (but $4.99 out of my pocket is nice right?) And support for this app was only through email. They directed me to an article that lets me know how to add my bank account to the app 😬. I got fed up and deleted the app and canceled my membership. This is why small business owners for taxes and accounting purposes are always going to be in business because of crap like this.

Very unsatisfactory. I have a small business and signed up for quick books this year for my cleaning business. While they make most business related chores easy to do and keep track of, they make accepting payments through an invoice very hard! I’ve used this function once and will most likely never use it again. Rather, accepting payments electronically using another system; PayPal etc. They make it easy to create invoices, but after they’ve approved you to put a PAY NOW button on your invoice it comes with a hold to your hard earned money and laundry list of extra documents asked for, after you’ve been cleared to use this function. Something like this is highly inconveniencing to a small business like mine, it’s it’s beginning stages where every penny counts and is expected as promised. It’s one thing to deal with late payments from clients, but when it’s from the platform you’re paying to make things easy and efficient,it’s extremely frustrating! After my issue is solved, I will determine whether is worth keeping the subscription.

iOS 11 compatible. It seems to work perfectly now after the last update. I use this to keep track of my rideshare mileage and to separate personal from business income and expenses transactions. IMO, it’s a complete all in one app that gives you what you need every tax quarter or season. My only gripe is that, and it may just be personal preference - but I wish the maps for each trip showed the actual route taken from point A to point B. If I were auditing, I would question a log that’s 55 total miles with what looks like a 5 mile separation from point A to B on the map. The in-between trips and round a bouts in town are not very transparent -not sure if this was intended. It is possible to track routes- there’s only one app in the App Store that actually does this well, but it’s not as complete as this app.

Save your money! Unless you like dumpster fires.. Possibly the worst app I have ever used! There is no way to include a deposit or partial payment on the invoices. There are no terms on the invoice and no option to save a template with saved text in the “notes to customers” section. The mileage tracker works about as well as Mapquest did when it first came out. Sent invoices are from QuickBooks not from your email, and unless you bcc or cc yourself, you don’t have anything as a paper trail showing you sent the invoice. And because clients are looking for emails from you, not some spam looking email from QuickBooks they can easily be deleted or overlooked. I could list a million other reasons this app is the worst app created but if the above mentioned reasons aren’t enough to convince you, nothing is. So go on, get the app, pay the monthly fee and find out for yourself what throwing money into a dumpster fire is like.

Great app for bookkeeping. I love the app, helps me to visualize easily my income and expenses, track mileage and pay my quarterly taxes. But I wanna suggest a few upgrades after been using it now for 8 months, I would love to be able to see my metrics based on the job, so I currently have 3 business, but I have to see it as a total, I can’t see how much money or expenses I have per business. I also would like to have the option to enter just total mileage, even when you can track your trips or uploading every trip I has done. Just entering total miles to keep track of my mileage would be helpful for me. Thanks anyway it’s super good this app to keep track of my financial goals monthly accesible from my phone at anytime!

We LOVE this ap- THANKS, QuickBooks!. This application is absolutely perfect for our small company. It is so easy to learn and easy to use and keep updated. We adore the feature of connecting our bank accounts and being able to mark certain places or for the same assignment each time automatically. There are some places that, quite frankly, we will only get our inventory, parts, business services and whatnot and it’s nice to have those automatically assigned it to a business category or as a personal expense without us manually having to do it. I really love this application and it’s ease-of-use! We HIGHLY recommend this for any small and medium-size company. It will make the tax filing an absolute breeze this year, which has been an absolute nightmare in previous years that I deplore doing each time.

Worst service !!. I was starting a new company and I use this service following their good ideas on how to bill my clients in a discrete manner. Everyone was happy until one of my clients accidentally forgot about her transaction and opened a dispute. Intuit immediately started to withdraw that money that I no longer had on my account. They continued trying to get the money from my account several times and create a huge amount of fee!! BE AWARE!! They said I can’t spend or reinvest my money, I have to let the money sit in my account for several months in case a dispute happens. This just gets interesting, my client fixed the problem and now Intuit wants to charge me a lot of fees because my account didn't have the amount on my account and they weren't able to get the disputed money without consulting me. No matter it wasn't my fault they are now harassing me to pay the fees for having a dispute (no matter it wasn't my fault and it was legitimate transaction) and for not having the amount on my account for them to hold the funds.

Price increase. Just increased their monthly fee by 50%. Ridiculous price gouging. After emailing them with no response and finally reading their reasons from the website, I’ve concluded that they are trying to gain money so that they can develop bells and whistle‘s that are not useful to a small business owner. Meaning: They are not increasing in a way that is helpful; they just wants to cash in for additional $60 a year per owner Somehow the app works just fine and yet they need more money from the small businesses they claim to support in order to develop a better experience for us. I’m looking for other other software that understands what small business owners actually need. Obviously, they don’t care about small business owners with this behavior.

One problem after another. This would be a great app if it worked as planned. The mileage does not always work and when it does, it doesn’t work correctly. The Connect to Bank account feature encounters disconnection problems every day and some times it will reconnect on the first try but most times it will not. I’ve been unable to get my American Express card reconnected for the past week. It keeps telling me the site is down for maintenance. Quickbooks is working on it but after 8 days i have to wonder if keeping the service is worth it. I will mention that i started using it late Sept 2018 for my Etsy shop in hopes of making entry a bit easier and less forgetful. If these issues persist by month end (November) i’ll go back to MileIQ and an Excel spread sheet and save the $5. December 5, 2018 UPDATE to my Review Prior to Thanksgiving, i received a Developer response e-mail from QB. I’ve yet to hear back from my reply to that e-mail. I will say that the Mileage began working about a week after my reply. No idea if it was something they did but i can say it wasn’t anything i did. I will move it to 3 stars from 2 since its mostly working as it should. There’s still that problem with Bank disconections each day but clickibg on the fix-it button does fix-it.

Useless. Useless program. Total waste of money. Has only specific categories with no ability to create accounts that are applicable to your own situation. I’m now working with ZOHO I bought it at the beginning of the year and have been working in QB online for my other company. I started to work in this for my self employed items and this is useless for my needs. I wasted a boatload of money because I didn’t check it out earlier Customer service with QB is a bigger joke. No email address to send inquiries. Finally found the phone number and then 14 minutes on hold to talk to someone that was totally clueless. But she was able to give me an email address. Lol Got back to my computer and found how to cancel it but it would wipe everything I put in. Got back on the app and found their chat line. Spent another hour going through via typing with CHAT trying to find their weird download button that looks more like a forward button that only shows up on one screen. (They really don’t want you to leave) got ‘er done though. Then went to cancel and it locked up with ‘OOPs, we ran into a problem and can’t cancel’. Spent another hour waiting for the person on chat to get it to finally cancel. Why am I thankful today Got everything downloaded from QB Not going to jail for hurting anyone I can appreciate the fact that I don’t work for QB I can be proud for not being nasty to anyone

Mileage tracker doesn’t work. The sole reason I downloaded the app was to track my mileage as I drive a lot for my business. It worked at first but not accurately. It doesn’t start recording until I’m down the road. Now it has stopped tracking anything at all. I haven’t even been using it 24 hours... (yes I have auto track turned on, location services for the app always on, changed my password settings to required infrequently and have even started to make sure I have the app up and running before I go.) Also if I have to put in mileage manually why is there even the option to add Google Maps integrated start and end location if it’s not going to input the mileage automatically for me?! I’d also like to be able to name the locations and for it to recognize frequent trips and/or locations. I’m a pet sitter so for some clients I drive to their house up to three times a day for several days.

Horrible and frustrating “service” limited options in app. The customer service is horrible and frustrating! You’re on hold for at least 30 mins. Only to finally get someone and spend 30-60 mins with them, trying to understand them, then to be told that they’re not trained in “self employed” app or program. Yet I constantly get sent to people that are not trained in that program, even when I co tact them from the app and specifically state my issue is with self employed. Why do I continually get sent to people that are not trained in it and why does it take them 30-60 to finally realize that I’m using the self-employed app/version, even when I tell them that is what I’m using. Service it absolutely horrible and not helpful whatsoever!!! App is good for what it can do, but is extremely limited. You can’t add miles to it, unless it’s a trip you did that day or you have auto tracking engaged. I’ll definitely change as soon as I can finish this tax season. I’d never buy this app!

Doesn’t consistently records Mileage. I’m trying to believe this is my go to app for recording mileage but 80% of the it doesn’t. The app will do great 2 out 7 days, all the other features work great on the app. I wish technical support would seriously look into improving one of the MOST IMPORTANT features of their product as many of these reviews have the same complaint. I’m on the $10 monthly plan and just feel like I’m wasting my money. The number one purpose for getting this app was features and support but I starting to believe this company doesn’t value customers feedback and concerns! I would love to hear back from them as to whether they concern about building their brand or just put products out and abandon them. It can be a great app if they invest in updates and support. Hopefully, I don’t have to jump ship to another brand/company the stand with their customers. It’s this what reviewing a product suppose to do? Bring awareness to flaws to improve quality???

You get what you paid for. I opted for Quickbooks self employed because I have two Etsy shops and wanted the auto import function. Somehow some entries were imported twice when I first started. Then one of my credit card had fraudulent charges and a new number was issued. Quickbooks was having problems importing the new card. After an hour on the phone with support and trying many things, it still would not work. They promise to get back to me and o have not hears back for over two weeks. This is a very stripped down version of Quickbooks that I was used to. I would recommend other versions or other companies instead. I actually like GoDaddy’s bookkeeping and used it for quite a while until the Etsy integration went away. Now I went back to Quickbooks pro desktop with a double entry accounting system. If you are serious about keeping your book clean and correct, I would not recommend self employed.

No support but they charge like a service, not an app. I’ve been using QB Self Employed for almost 2 years- it’s been handy but deficient. Categories are fixed and limited to what they decided would be a self employed persons needs. If you need to go back and add or correct something it is labor intensive, and the latest discovery: if you do take a bank account transfer payment from a client it will take “several days”- an undetermined lapse of time for them to give you your own money, now at 6 business days I still can’t get a straight answer and when calling support the wait is between 30-45 minutes, the chat is automated and can’t really help. To upgrade to Small Business they want $70/month, while any of the new payroll/bookkeeping app/services offers a far better rate. As soon as I figure out how to back my info up, I’m out.

Do NOT trust this app to track mileage.. I’ve been using this app since the beginning of the year. I have not used all the features but do have an Intuit account. As a rideshare driver I get free access to premium features. 1. Mileage tracking is abysmal. This is the worst app I’ve ever used for mileage tracking. I used to use Mileage IQ but that costs $60 a year and is quite accurate. I also have been using Stride Tax as a backup to this app. This app does not accurately track mileage, very memory intensive and doesn’t even log some rides. I have auto start enabled. I’m running the latest iOS 13 on my iPhone 8S. 2. You cannot see the current trip you’re on or end it manually. You have to wait at lest 5 minutes for it to time out before it shows up in trips to be reviewed. Also I’d like to end it manually so I can start another trip for a different purpose. 3. It seems the app engineers give two s$&ts about this app. I have to add trips manually it completely misses. Make sure you use an additional mileage tracker. DON’T TRUST THIS APP TO TRACK YOUR MILEAGE!!

Intuit steals money from your account. I signed up and downloaded the app so i could save money not having to go through an accountant, but ultimately decided my time was more valuable so logged in and cancelled my subscription. I didn’t think about it but noticed months later they were still taking out money! So i called them and since i had cancelled my subscription/account they couldn’t find anything for my email or phone number. No biggie i went and got a new debit card which solved the problem for a couple months then poof on the new card there it was another Intuit charge!! I called my bank and asked them how that happens and they said they have only seen that a hand full of times so i said screw it and completely closed that account. I turned them in to the BBB and they tried telling me that Apple was the one billing me, but i have 0 active subscriptions.. Absolute joke of a company
