Great app but be careful. I have been using this app for a while now and it’s an easy way to save some extra cash you didn’t realize you had. But if you’re like me and sometimes push your bank account red this can be dangerous. My back charges 29 dollars every time an attempt is made by ach debit and i don’t have sufficient funds. This company try’s 3 times to pull from and empty bank account causing me personally to have to pay almost 90 dollars in penalties. It has happened a couple of times now and it’s rather annoying. I also have lost money on their investments so far, not much but some. So everything I have in this account is what I have put in minus what I’ve lost. I do recommend this app just be very cautious if you think you’re funds are gonna run low. To the developers response: I know that they can be turned off manually. My problem is I have no ability to know when funds are going to be attempt to pulled from my account, there for have know way of knowing when to turn off the account. That’s why I have pulled back all my funds from your account (to which only lost my money) and have decided I will not be using your services again. Thank you for the automated response and I pray for your success. God Bless!

Do not use this Company. While they make it easy to save, they are clearly reckless with their customer’s Personal information. My husband and I both signed up to save passive income and it turned into a nightmare. We assume because we have a joint account. Assume because no one actually could tell us. His account was frozen first until he could prove his existence. After his was frozen, mine was next. I was asked to provide either a bank statement or canceled check in an email that instructed me to login to my account to do so. Well… since your account is locked, that is not possible. When you ‘chat’ you are solicited for multiple personal information documents such as ss card, DL copy, a bill and bank statement. When informed that the email states they only need a voided check, you are told no and to submit your personal documents via chat. I escalated to second level phone support and made the individual read the email to me after they were trying to justify this. They could not. I understand the potential that customers can defraud the company, but Acorns LLC has an obligation to protect their customer’s personal information and to be so reckless with it is appalling. I encourage anyone looking to start saving to go to an established company that likely has good security measures in place and proper training. What we experienced was insane. To be honest, we had no idea what the issue was with our account. We just had to keep guessing.

Charged Me A Dollar For No Reason. I woke up today, and saw a charge for one dollar by acorn. I was very confused because I hadn’t opened this app in a couple months. On top of not using the app, I was not notified that I would be charged any money. I have had the app on my phone for a while but never used it. Apparently they signed me up for a subscription but I was unaware that this platform had subscriptions. I definitely haven’t been on this app in two or three months so why would I be charged a dollar out of nowhere at the end of March? The problem isn’t just that they charged me a dollar for what I consider no reason, the problem is why now? My other question is, where did this dollar go? And why would I pay a subscription to save money? I have a lot of questions needless to say but one thing that I am sure about is that I will never and I mean never recommend this app to anyone. It was a good idea when I heard about it but to see them do business like this, unacceptable. The last thing I’ll say is, I don’t believe this is the first time this has happened because one of the options when trying to cancel your account says that you were charged unexpectedly. Hope y’all do good with the dollar y’all took!!! I also checked to make sure that this was not the first time I was charged comment and it said that this was the first time I’ve been charged from acorn.

Customer service response time bad.. I signed up with Acorns a few months ago and enjoyed the app, it’s overall simplicity, and the fact that I was able to save money without really thinking about doing so (through roundups). Acorns offers referral reward bonuses at various times. I believe I referred 4-5 people who literally signed up and began to use acorns because of my discussion with them and positive referral. All I got out of it was a measly $5 reward, not the $500 or even $1,000 reward they offer at very specific times. I made a comment on an Acorns Instagram post, kindly recommending that they provide more generous reward bonuses for those that have referred others, without the specific (and difficult to achieve) guidelines regarding timeline of those referrals. I was told that my suggestion would not fall on deaf ears and that I was to DM acorns. Well, not only did I send a very respectful DM stating my position, I also emailed their customer support team. And, you guessed it. I haven’t heard back from either or anyone from acorns since. Customer service is paramount with me. At least take the time to reply to a legitimate concern/suggestion. I will be looking for another investment app if acorns fails to reach out to me within a few days.

the app that stole christmas 🗣. I only gave it 1 star because 0 was not an option. I downloaded this app because I thought it was like the app dave that gives you a payday loan. Upon making an account and linking my bank account, I realized what this app was actually for. I opted in for the app to round up each purchase to the nearest dollar and for reoccurring $5 investment each week. After the first week, I realized I do not actually care to invest and wanted to delete the app. I couldn’t quite figure out how to unlink my bank or delete my account to prevent any withdrawals from my account from occurring. I found a setting that allowed me to turn off all investments. So it wasn’t supposed to pull from my bank account at all indefinitely, as long as I did not turn it back on. I checked my bank account today and saw that I was $35 IN THE NEGATIVES. I have over-drafted and will have fees assessed once the bank opens in the morning. I’m very upset that they continued to take my money after I opted out. And $35 is way more than change from rounding up my recent purchases to the next dollar plus $5 for the week. I also cannot figure out where these investments go nor how to withdrawal them. So I have essentially been robbed. Do not use this app if you understand the importance of money. I did not have $65+ to lose for no reason. This app will take your money without consent and claim to be investing in you but not allow you to get it back!!!!🥴🙄🤦🏻‍♀️

Pathetic Business Practices. Used to use this service 5-7 years ago. It was an interesting and fun concept. Over time, naturally consolidated investments over to larger and more sophisticated financial institutions. Welcome 2022 and Acorns decision to automatically enroll folks whose bank information is still connected somehow to their platform (*because they don’t actually allow you to fully ever disconnect said information) to a monthly subscription fee “service” that gets you who knows what… I haven’t had money on the Acorns platform in years. Bottom line: tremendously infuriating to have any systematic auto-enrollment initiative begin charging you money. There’s never any guarantee that we still have the App on our devices, we may not receive emails from a particular account that’s over 5 years old (eg an old school or work email)… we may not even be able to login to the App/Service platform anymore because of all of the aforementioned logistical issues. Don’t charge old customers money by auto-enrolling them because you need to drive your own revenue. It’s an incredibly dishonest and irresponsible manner of capturing a few extra dollars. Completely shameful. So infuriating that I’d absolutely be willing to be part of a class-action lawsuit should one ever materialize. Frankly, if I were a lawyer, I’d file it myself.

$5 dollar sharing perk scam & nonexistent customer service !. I am trying to like Acorns but am finding it very difficult. 1) I am a student and want to take advantage of the perk they offer - monthly fee waived for 4 Years- however my college does not use .edu email addresses so I emailed customer service to see what they needed me to provide as proof and 5 days later have still not received a reply, although I did receive confirmation that my email was received. 2) I wanted to share this app with my husband and sent him the link which says repeatedly that once the friend “completes registration” they and you will each receive a $5 reward, only to find that once you complete registration is says great you completed registration and you will receive $5 after you make your first investment! This is bold face lying to get people to sign up and I do not support his tactic at all. 3) when you connect your account and turn on “round ups” it collects previous days purchases from your account- this needs to be disclosed when the round up option is activated (it prob tucked away somewhere deep in fine print ...) . All of these issues right off the bat! Hopefully someone from customer service will eventually get back to me and I can end up liking the idea of Acorns again!

In shock!!!!!. Ya know, Acorns for the most part is a great idea and useful and user friendly platform for people to invest, bank, and do other things, but I have to say that I just found out that without warning or notice my debit card was cancelled and a new one was ordered all because of. A dispute that I filed about a transaction I had seen that I had no knowledge of. So without calling me or emailing me to let me know the results of my dispute and after I specifically told an employee over the phone I cannot have my card cancelled they without warning did it anyways so now not only do I have to take the hit of the transaction unknown but now I have to endure the bombardment of returned payment fees if all the bills I have set up on autopay through the card that was cancelled. This is a very halfbaked unthought out protocol and I am on the fence of switching to a different investment institution because of this. And it’s not like they expedited the card delivery either, I now have to wait 2 weeks, and that’s business days don’t forget so weekends don’t count for the amount of time I’m waiting. Wouldn’t you rush someone’s card to them seeing how there is no physical bank for acorns and one depends on that debit card to have daily access to the money they worked hard for? So frustrated right now

Worst customer experience. I had a spend account with them which i finally closed because it wasn’t benefiting me at all. They had very low limits on how much you could withdraw from an ATM. When I called to close the account, the rep told me I will get my funds transferred to my other bank account in 3-6 business days. Took 10 business days and I still didn’t receive the funds so I called back and I was told they don’t know what happened and had to submit a research. I waited 3 additional days and they finally emailed me and said that I “should have “ received an e-check. I told them that I didn’t. They said they will check on it. I finally received the e-check 2-3 days later after our last conversation and I deposited it. After I deposited it someone reached out to me and said that they are now sending me a physical check. The didn’t even bother to follow up with me before stopping the payment on the e-Check.I got charged a returned item fee from my bank and my perfect record ruined with my primary bank. The customer service is very slow. They have two different teams, phone reps and “back office”. The phone reps cannot do really anything except submit a request on your behalf and you get email days later from A different team. There’s lack of communication between the two teams.

Not happy. I had my checking account as the funding account but was having a hard time getting it verified. I gave up and started using my Cap 1 acct. But though I signed up for round up my checking account has shown withdrawals ranging around $5+/- . The problem is that my account has been charged 5 overdraft fees totaling $175 bc I no longer really use that account bc I was diagnosed w End Stage Renal Failure which forced me to lose my income and I’m relying completely financially on my husband who pays my Cap 1 bill. Now, bc I didn’t verify my bank account I completely forgot about the whole thing for almost a year (I was diagnosed late August 2017). So how in the world is my checking account getting screwed up!!!!! And costing me $175! I read all over the app that my account was paused “to protect me from overdraft charges” but there were THREE transactions yesterday!!! And so many others that make no sense. How was it coming out of my account when I literally just verified it 5 min ago?? So my round ups and what I thought were my $5 Investments from my Cap 1 account have totaled $45 in a couple of weeks (I looked at it 2 weeks ago and saw my TD was “paused” and felt good about putting away from my Cap 1). But im out $90 now. Can someone EXPLAIN this bs to me???

Virtual Change Jar. I've been using Acorns for a little over a month and I'm quite happy with it. I have the investment set on ultra conservative, because my main goal is to save, investing isn't a super priority right now. Back in the day before plastic was all the rage and main form of payments, I did use cash, and would break bills and set aside the change. I still do that somewhat this day in age but it's hard. So that's why I got interested in Acorns, to use as my virtual change jar. So far I have about 30 dollars in it, which to me feels impressive. If I have to pay a dollar a month for them to be my virtual jar, then I'm okay with that. It's two cups of coffee a year, in reality. I look forward to future roundups and someday I'll look into what other investment options there are. I feel very encouraged to save using this app. Once I get enough to go on a vacation, I'm going to withdrawal that money. I like that I can't touch it and it takes a few days to process, gets rid of impulse pulling. :) It's not a get rich quick scheme, and you have to be in it for the long haul if you're going to invest, and the market goes crazy sometimes. So have patience with that.

A Great Way To Save Spare Change:. I’ve been using the app for about a year and I love it. It’s a nice way to save additional funds (just a little bit at a time with the round ups) on top of having a regular savings. But if you don’t have a regular savings, this is a very nice way for you to at least start saving money. I’ve read some of the reviews from some of the savvy investors who are kind of trashing the app. If you don’t like the returns, fees, flow of the app or if it’s not Wallstreet enough for you, then by all means delete the app. It‘s designed to encourage and assist people who do not save on a regular, and it allows them to choose what approach is best. But for those of us who already have a savings, this is just a little lagniappe - which is nice. (Updated January 25, 2024) Still loving the app, and have turned a few people on to it. I use it as a way to put extra on credit cards. For example, when it gets to $300 or a little more I take out $200 and apply it towards a credit card if needed. Or, I put it in our regular savings. I try to never let it get under $100. Great way to help tackle debt.

Customer Service is incompetent. I was put on to this app by my brother. He has had great success with it, but that has been far from my experience. When creating an account, I was prompted several times to enter my information because the app either crashed or didn’t connect to their server. After finally getting my account set up I attempted to link my checking account for funding. In the app it clearly shows my bank account listed, checking and savings, yet still prompts me to link a checking account. I have followed the request of both customer service reps (one by email and one by phone) to manually enter in my routing and account number. Acorns comes back with a message saying “There is no bank associated with this routing number” yet when on the phone, the lady confirmed that I had entered it in correctly. This is after 2 days of emails back and forth with someone else who, after the second day, quit returning emails altogether. I have yet to hear back about a solution and feel that the difficulty to just sign up may not be worth the headache should something important and time sensitive occur. Great idea and very streamlined in how it is supposed to work, but atrocious first impression for sign up and even worse customer support.

🚨SNEAKY🚨please read before downloading ☟︎☟︎☟︎. They had a promotion on the app, if you share it with your friends you would get so much money, so i shared it with several people, and on all of them it was ‘pending’ and never fully went through. So it was pretty much impossible to share and get your referral reward. They were also doing a $75 promotion for getting the debit card, so both my brother and I order the debit cards. As soon as I got mine I went to activate it and the promotion disappeared. My brother called to ask about it and they told him that the promotion never existed. My brother then realized that they would take a percentage out of whatever you’re investing through them, so we both decided to cancel our subscriptions because they don’t tell you there’s a charge for investing through them. So we decided it wasn’t worth it to use them. Since you can invest through other places with no charge. Later I saw I got a $5 charge for acorns for my ‘subscription’ (this was after I had deleted my account) another charge from acorns that they try to hide. After that my friend who had signed up also got a charge. Even though her account through my referral was still ‘pending’. So if her account was ‘pending’ why would they be charging a subscription fee?? I was excited to use it since it’s a great idea for investing. However it’s not worth the cost or deceitfulness.

Not worth it - my money has disappeared. I got this app about 4 months ago months ago. I chose to invest a relatively small amount continuously until I figured out if the app was legitimate. I started noticing that I would have money taken from my account, in small sums but money is money; and it wouldn’t be reflected in my acorns account. I decided about a month ago that I wanted to pull the nearly $35 dollars it has pulled out of my account over time due to the fact that it was just sitting there and it told me there were errors and it couldn’t transfer to my account. I also had less money in my account than I had invested at that point. I recently got on and tried to take my money out again and it not only signed me out but it also has forced me to either “agree” to their new conditions which state that I agree to letting them continuously take money out of my debit account and I agree to let them take the subscription payment out of my account when they state and that I am fine with a fee if there are insufficient funds in my account when they try to do so. I not only cannot log in to my account where I have almost $50 dollars just sitting in, I have to agree to their terms therefore putting me in a binding contract with them in which I don’t want to be in just to receive my money. I am very disappointed and do not recommend. This app did not work the way they advertised it to.

Bad policy!. In this day and age I understand security is important. However, there is such a thing as overkill. I ran into a situation where I needed to change my banking information. My old account was closed due to fraudulent activity, plus I changed banks. Because I was in the middle of the verification process the app/website wouldn’t allow me to change it. I went three rounds of back and forth through emails with no luck. So I decided to call. Upon getting in touch with a representative(which didn’t take long at all), I explained to her my situation and if she could possibly override the feature in the app that kept me from updating my account information. She couldn’t do until she very I had an old account with the old bank. I had no statements or old checks as the account was closed over a year ago. I know it wasn’t her fault as she only abides by the rules and procedures. After calling the OLD bank and not being able to identify me(because I no longer have an account with them) I decided to give up. As my simple request was not being handled. What a horrible draconian policy to have in place as banking information can change at anytime. This is truly asinine. There should be a way to just change your information like any other website.

Fraudulent!. I got invited by a friend to join acorns as they have a “you get 5 and they get 5 dollars” to invest promotion and so I followed the link to join. Never received the promotional money. I emailed them and a guy named “Alan” replied and said that I was not going to get it. And then sarcastically sent the promotion to me again which is just absolutely inappropriate. I’m not an idiot and I followed the steps correctly with the promotion but didn’t receive it. Clearly, this is a way to get people to join and you have to invest in order to receive it which I did! Absolute frauds. Everyone join the app “Stash” as I did the exact same promotion and received the money promotion. Better customer service as well as they did not have someone like Alan be inappropriate Update/FYI: I recently looked further into the reviews and I’m not the only one who has called out this fraudulent investment app. Scroll and see for yourself as others have had the same problem as me. Not to mention several other problems such as awful feedback and having to wait up 4-6 days to get withdrawal back... I have since proceeded to withdraw my investment and it’s going to take a while 😂. Also acorns has plummeted from being ranked #10 to now #12 and will continue to do so. If you are a beginning investor JOIN STASH!!! They have awesome customer service, legit promotions, and legit want you to succeed as they have this “coach” that helps guide you into your investments. Check it out for yourself!

More like a weed then an oak this app is a joke. What a scam. I like the developers responses to anyone writing a review about negative returns. “O the market is going down right now” No it’s not! The market flex’s well acorns steals! A dollar a month to take our money?! I linked my credit card and after months of just losing money I decided to transfer what was left into my bank account. 3-6 days (more like almost two weeks) by the way Robinhood is instant... they front you the money and you choose what you invest in, you pick your stocks... not some blind shoot that you always loose. Also it is free. Fidelity doesn’t even take that long. You can take our money instantly but it’s weeks to get back?!?! But I digress from the real scam they pulled on me... after getting the account info (Acorns needed to transfer my money too) within days chunks of money started disappearing from that account!!! I went in and without asking they just started taking “roundups” from my bank account!!! I had to manually shut it off... but wait it gets worse!!!! My wife starting noticing money missing from her accounts... without my permission acorns just started taking money from all our linked accounts (four) I had to unlink all those accounts and then somehow they just turned my credit card back on themselves!!! This is a sneaky scam! People just invest your own money yourself in the market no reason to make these people rich with our money!!!!

Lacking. I get the concept of this app but I feel like it’s not for me and I’ll tell you why. Acorns invests round-ups to the nearest dollar on your purchases. This means you have to wait until you buy something to invest in the stock market. Not only that, but the app itself does not give much insight into which stocks or ETFs are being used. So essentially you’re blindly putting in money that is going “somewhere out there” and hoping for the best. I get that there’s an option to deposit funds directly without waiting for round ups, but since that’s what I want to do, I’d rather be able to have a choice as to where my money goes. This app is for individuals who want to invest without the hassle, but I felt like it was almost too dumbed-down for me. It also took me more than half a year to receive my debit card, only to find out that instant round-ups aren’t available yet, which is why I wanted the card in the first place. The features on Acorn do not give you very much control, and for that reason I’d rather invest directly using a different service. It was a nice start into investing, and after more than three years of using Acorns it was hard to part with it. But the app’s purpose of taking the effort out of investing almost worked too well. If you want to invest, there are better ways of doing so in a more efficient manner.

Incredible!!!!!. As a 26 year old. I finally believe that this app was really for me. It has helped me develop as an independent young woman. At the beginning, I was doubtful about an app that could be this easy, but I could rest assured. I’m amazed !!!. When I was born, my hateful parents were too busy to care for me. They were so busy that they were not there when I was born. I was born at an extremely young age. When I turned 6, my pet fish drowned in my pool. I believe that this all could help me from these trauma s. Life like Trying to be Christ like In him I find delight His love is always right Jesus loves me This I know For the Bible tells me so Little ones to him belong They are weak but he is strong Jesus loves me he who died Heavens gate to open wide He will wash away my sins Let his little child come in Jesus loves me how could this be To love a sinner to set him free After many years I finally see It’s was always about him never me Jesus loves me me a disgrace With warm hands he will embrace All my sin and faults has has erased Praise to him full of grace

I don’t even know man. I started trying to save money n invest then I stopped for awhile just for reasons and after I stopped recurring every Friday for a bit it started taking 5$ away from my bank account without it being recurring so I deleted it so it wouldn’t steal money from me- yeah 5$ ain’t much but when it’s over n over n over I think they just want my money- especially when the money they took didn’t get invested for my acorns account- probably close to 50-60 bucks just gone and didn’t even try to get it back- why? What’s the point I can just invest in a different app that doesn’t take money without asking and not using that money for my investment account which is ridiculous- every time a 5 was deducted I checked acorns and nothing was there every time plus i was a new user at the time so I think it was a bad app for investing unless you want your money taken then sure be my guest. I don’t know if anyone else noticed this but yes if you turn off recurring bill for any amount of 5-20 per week it will start to take it out of your account for no reason and it won’t even be there in your acorns account- sorry but I aint downloading this again if that happens- hope someone sees this✌️ in the end don’t trust most things people say that’s all

It’s scam app. I deposited $15 to this app to try and than I decided to close my account I link my bank account with this trouble app and than I try to transfer my money to from this app to my bank account and I did and I receive confirm message from this app but I Check my bank account after 7 day and than after 15day and than after 30 day but never I receive my money in my bank account I contact with support team but they never answer me. Gays I want right now tell all off you whatch out your money and your information because this kind of app just they want make money and they don’t care about your money if your want to invest invest in your saving bank account by your self I learn by the time just send evry week or evry monthly some money to your saving account and save by your self don’t give your hard working money to this kind scam app owners off this kind off app they don’t have that much money they just create one app and than they want start make easy money they keep our money and then with our money they make money overall I’m not happy with this app and I home App Store and google play store take this scam app done so some poor regular people they don’t have that much info about what’s behind this kind app they don’t install in there phone and be aware and be careful!!!!!!

I’m not sure about this. I know the market isn’t all that stable and will have their ups and downs but my money just has downs. Everyday it goes down. Then it if goes up it’s by a penny. Then don’t get me started on the round ups. So what they do is wait until you have 5 dollars in round ups and then they take out the money in one chunk. The point of saving spare change is not to feel/notice it. If I spend 2.75 somewhere and they automatically were to take out the .25 at the same time as the 2.75, then I wouldn’t really notice that. But if they wait for me to have a lot of transactions that will add up to 5 then I’m totally going to notice that. It doesn’t make sense. And lately I see a lot of transfers for 7.86 or 9 dollars. I thought it was only supposed to be 5 dollars at a time. I am going to close my account because this is getting silly. I can get a regular savings account and just deposit 5 dollars a week automatically too. I don’t see the point to this account if you’re going to lose money anyway. And yeah I did get 5 dollars in “found” cash which was a pleasant surprise because I didn’t try to get them. I bought some groceries through Instacart and then I got 5 dollars. Not bad but I’m still wondering if it’s worth it.

Pretty good app. I will say that this is a good app and good concept. It just wasn’t for me after time. When acorn started they had the ability to have no automatic round ups and it would let you select your own from the list of transactions. I loved this feature, but sadly they removed it. The reason I loved this was because I use my debit card for literally every single purchase ever, and that means TONS of round ups that would cause me to invest more than I could afford. If I set up automatic amounts it’s no different than other apps but they charge a fee. If I turn on automatic round ups I’ll run out of money. And if I rely on the 3-5 transactions they show you that you can manually round up I’ll never get a lot invested. I miss the old way of seeing all of your transactions and picking from the list of which you want to round up. Because of that I did close my account because it just wasn’t for me; however, I do think this app is a great idea and will work for many people. When I was making small frequent investments I did notice that my account would steadily increase month to month even with the $1 fee. Never any issues and great support.

Like and Don’t like. When I first heard of Acorns and the idea of an electronic piggy bank that invest your spare change from purchases I thought “what a great and cool idea.” So after awhile i decided to give it a try. I like that all my banking accounts are linkable and you dont have to do anything after they are linked. What I didn’t and don’t like is when I first put my credit card info in, the app pulled all my accounts for the option to link. I would have rather done that manually. Another thing I don’t like is, my credit card that I first put in, is the account that all the spare change comes from even when several accounts are liked. I would rather have the spare change come from the individual accounts that are linked. The last thing I don’t like is when you transfer money between your accounts like I do each transfer also invests $1.00. I hope that makes sense to you and helps on deciding to start collecting your acorns and invest them. Update: A developer has since responded to my review. The transfer of funds between your accounts that invest a whole dollar can be adjusted. Although this feature can be adjusted and has after the fact, I dont recall it being mentioned while setting up an account. Don’t get me wrong I am still using this savings/investment app.

A little shady in my opinion. First off out of 6 cards that I carry in my wallet only one was able to be linked to my account and it was not my Huntington bank card that I use for daily purchases yet they were able to transfer money directly from this account for monthly fees . Second somehow I got signed up for acorns later feature with no mention of a monthly charge , no big deal it was only 2 bucks but when I realized that account was going nowhere after 6 months I transferred my money out to my bank account but I guess somewhere between when I set up the transfer and it actually initiated .07 cents was added to my account . You can not withdraw less than $5 from your account so I had to contact customer support via email and inform them I wanted to close the account . Roughly 5 days later they transferred the remaining change but that same day charged me again for the $2 monthly service fee and said it must have gone through before my account was closed . If you knew it was going to be closed why leave me signed up? For services that I could not take advantage of ? It’s not the money it’s the principle , if you can’t be trusted with small transactions and work in good faith why would anyone instill trust in you for a larger account?

Okay-ish.. I’ve been a member since 2019 and for the most part I’m okay with the app. One thing that truly gets under my skin is that I can’t review my statements from the app. I have to physically get on a desktop computer in order to see my statements. It’s quite annoying considering I don’t always have a desktop around when I’m doing my finances. You cant go online from your phone and do it, you have to use a desktop. I’m not sure why it’s set up that way, but it’s annoying. Also, I have used Robinhood for 2 months, and in those 2 months I gained over $70 in stocks/investing. Whereas I’ve had Acorns for almost a year and the most I ever gained in investing is $35. I have waaaay more money in Acorns than I do in Robinhood, yet I managed to make more with less. Idk what Acorns is doing with my money, but it’s not really investing the way it can. I’m thinking of canceling Acorns because it’s honestly not working for me anymore. I think the best feature is the roundup investments, it lets me save by keeping the change. However, my personal bank does the same. It seemed like a good app when I first got it, but now I’m feeling like it’s not putting my money to good use. Plus, needing me to log onto a desktop just to see my statements is, once again, very annoying. Most apps, whether it’s a bank or another investing app, provide you with your statements without having to do the extra work. Why are they being so extra? Why are they not investing my money properly? Idk..

A bit scam-ish feel. I had this app in 2017 & 2018. I used it for the round up feature. It worked fine. Great actually. I made $23 in round ups 1 year and $28. Not much in investing so I got out / deactivated once my bank offered the round up feature. Recently this summer I was using Uber or something & I saw a discount if you connected the offer through Acorns so I decided to try again and see how Acorn operates now. So I requested my account to be reopened. That was quick and easy. Linked an account but never a debit card. I also read that acorns had fees now. Anyway life happened. The world had opened up and I started to travel and then bday and back to school. I never went back into the app to choose an investing plan or options. Looked at my bank statements and noticed Acorns charged me 3 months in a row and I had not even linked a card for the roundup feature even though the feature was selected. They had my bank but was not rounding up. Yet they were charging me. THREE MONTHS. No email saying “choose an investment plan” or “next steps to saving money”. Nothing informative, just charging me, but I’m not sure what for since I received no service? Kinda shady.

Acorns is AWESOME. I’ve been using Acorns for 3 years or so and I love it. It’s very simple and easy to use. I love that they give you information to read on the app to learn more about investing options. My wife and I use the spend account ALL THE TIME! It’s simplified the way we can divide up our spending money and bills money. For the people that are complaining about not getting their money back from their investment accounts for around 6 business days... The reason that happens is because THEY HAVE TO SELL OFF YOUR SHARES. It’s not a quick and simple process. It takes time. To be honest, if you’re planning on continually taking money out of your investment account, you shouldn’t even have one. The idea is to LEAVE THAT MONEY IN THAT ACCOUNT! Don’t be deterred by some of the other reviews! It’s a great and simple app that helps you with all of your investment needs! They even have a savings account for your kids! I show my son how his savings is growing each week and he is understanding that having a savings account is really important for his future and he’s only 4! Thank you Acorns for making my financial situation better and easier!

Great Idea, terrible customer service. After using them for years I switched my bank account after my bank got bought out by a horribly incompetent one. After changing information on all my other investment portfolios I went to this terribly done program to do the same. To switch my primary account I have to submit to them a voided check from the first bank and the new bank(which just added more time since I had to wait for new checks to arrive in the mail for the new bank). After doing that they said they would make two deposits into my new account which never came through. After contacting them they first told me i have to check my bank account and confirm the amount put in so clearly they didn’t care what my email said. They then proceeded to tell me I hadn’t properly cleared the switch and I needed to upload voided check images again… after the first upload i was told the one check came through improperly(which okay that can happen) and so I uploaded it again. After confirming I uploaded it again I got a new customer service associate who seemed totally unaware I had uploaded the documents and is requesting me to restart the process. If it’s not figured out soon I will unfortunately have to go the legal route which I really do not want to do since as I said in the title the idea behind this really is great…

Great concept, but needs serious improvement. Make unlinking accounts ACTUALLY unlink accounts. I had “unlinked” my checking account only to find that, whenever I tried to deposit money or pay my subscription, the UNLINKED ACCOUNT was used. As a result, I incurred $175 debt from 5 (FIVE!!!) different overdraft fees, all from an UNLINKED account. Absolutely ridiculous — all the money I had saved in Acorns and more (about 2x more, if you’re curious) went straight to banking fees because of this ridiculously convoluted system of linking/unlinking accounts. I wanted to use Acorns to save money passively, but instead I ended up losing everything I had saved and more over the course of my ~2 month usage due to some silly fees resulting from either a terribly architected UI (make unlinking accounts ACTUALLY unlink accounts, don’t gray out an account that is still being drawn from, don’t make me navigate past 4 different menus into some obscurely placed drop-down to ACTUALLY unlink an account, etc) or an egregious error on Acorns’ end. Such a shame — the concept for the app is wonderful, and I firmly believe it can help myself and others learn to save effectively, hence why I left an extra star up on my rating. I am now skeptical towards this entire platform due to the months of small, incremental savings wasted to banking fees that could have been avoided if the app did what it said it did.

Horrible customer support.. I recently tried depositing a check and they locked my whole account, including my debit card. When I called to speak to a real person, they said they are not on the internal team, and cannot connect me directly. I was left with no access to my funds in the bank. I have never had a bank lock down an entire account when depositing a mobile check. It’s insane. Rendering me unable to access my money that was already in my account for days. What’s worse is they said this is standard practice anytime I deposit a check from someone new. As a contractor, I have lots of small projects and new deposits meaning every time I try and deposit a paycheck, I have to deal with days of head aches. It’s flat out unusable. Additionally, I was making a larger purchase and called to see if I could get my debit card limit increased for the purchase. This has been common and easy to do with past banks. Once again the call center person, had no power to do anything, leaving me unable to access my funds. I recommend Recommend Chime which does the round up debit card for free. Then find other ways to invest your money, as this just simply isn’t well supported with trust worthy customer support. Better yet, go back to your local credit union which actually has human beings and empathy.

Love!. I am by no means a wealthy person and I have very basic knowledge of the stock market. I am an independent contractor so planning for the future is a little tricky. Thanks to Acorns I started investing the little I could and I can’t tell you the security I feel knowing I may actually be able to retire someday! Every year my business grows I try to invest a little more. I even started investing for my kids colleges/future which I worried I’d never be able to do! Acorns made investing so stinkin’ easy! Investing can be so intimidating if you don’t know what you’re doing. I’d read books on it and it just felt like a foreign language. I didn’t know where to start but I knew investing is the secret to really growing your wealth. I heard about acorns 4 or 5 years ago and it sounded so practical! I can’t say how much I appreciate how this app has enabled everyday people like myself to be able to invest successfully! I don’t even think about it! Thank you, thank you, thank you Acorns! You’re helping people to help themselves! You’re giving hope to the hopeless; lifting up the weak; making the American dream a possibility again! I am forever grateful!

Useless if you don’t have a mainstream bank.. Honestly, this review is only going to apply to people who bank with smaller, less popular banks. Just like everyone else, I saw the ads, invest your spare change, blah blah blah. I was super intrigued and excited to download and set this up. Come to find out, my bank isn’t listed in the seemingly endless list of banks big, small, and very small banks. I ended up having to go through the hassle of manually setting up my bank via account and routing number (which is the least inconvenient reason I’m leaving this review). After i contacted my bank I’m immediately prompted to get a subscription to advance further. I never was able to verify my account because they never sent me the micro transactions. I couldn’t connect my card because my bank was not listed and there is no manual card setup. So in the end I had no access to the thing I got the app for in the first place. Very disappointed overall because there’s no easy way to contact someone and ask them to add a bank or anything like that, but who knows maybe someone will see this and open up some new doors for future users. It’s a 0 out of 5 for me. Worth a shot I guess, probably works great if you back with a mainstream bank.

Really screwed me over. So I just started investing. I’m about 19 and only work part time, so since I don’t have a lot of money to invest I thought I’d start here. I’m in a bit of a tough spot now because Acorn was trying to charge my card, but my work just switched from weekly pay to biweekly pay so I was taking a bit to adjust and didn’t have much money in my checkings account at the time. Well, Acorn didn’t take the hint that I didn’t have enough money and kept trying to charge my card rather than just declining it. Every time they tried 30 dollars got taken away from my account. Not only that, but no money at all was added to my acorn portfolio. They didn’t even notify me my card wasn’t working, and charged twice on the same day (What looks like twice in a row) and then again the next day so I ended up losing 90$ for absolutely nothing. I tried contacting customer support, they said it’d take 1-2 business days to process the request. It’s been a week and I haven’t gotten any email past the confirmation email. It’s really frustrating having just under -90$ in my account because acorn wouldn’t stop trying to charge my card and didn’t notify me that my card wasn’t going through in any way. Acorn is the only company I’ve had do this to me. So I’m done with it.

Horrible Bank and horrible customer Service- RUN FAR AND FAST!!!!!. They don’t honor their word at all, they had my bank account frozen for over a month after I provided them with all the necessary documents they asked for and to this date 1/8/22 my account is still frozen. I deposited a check into my account where I cash my check and funded the card, they told me I had to wait for after the holiday Weeknd to use my funds leaving me looking stupid in the grocery store. I never received any rewards from their extensions but I get email saying “ You’ve been an amazing early adopter of our Acorns Earn Chrome Extension. Thank you” But I still have no rewards! I saved the best part for last. If you do sign up for there rewards it takes 120 days before it’s invested for you. Customer service does nothing but send you emails and claims they don’t have a supervisor on duty. I’m embarrassed for the referrals I referred. Receive an email from the app developer team 2/1/22 stating they would like to rectify the situation. I called him this morning from the number they provided on the email and again acorn does nothing the girl didn’t even know what I was calling for I had to explain my whole review all over again and no change nothing , horrible customer service do not come to this place at all

No help setting up my account. I was really excited to use this investing app. Part of setting up your account is having small deposits going into your personal bank account to verify your information. I received those deposits and went into the app and typed in the dollar amounts but for some reason it kept telling me that the amounts were incorrect. I waited a couple of days and tried again, still nothing. I sent a message through the app to have someone from the company contact me to help me try to figure out if I was somehow doing something wrong. I never got a response back. I waited a couple of days thinking maybe it might take awhile to get back to me even though the app says to wait 1-2 days for a response. I got no response so i tried sending another message. I have never heard back from anyone at the company ever! I’m really disappointed so I tried closing my account with them through the app. The message at the end said that they were working on closing my account and that I would receive an email when my account was closed. It’s been a month now and I have heard NOTHING. Not a reply from either of the messages I sent or an email on my account status. I would not recommend this app. Please just close my account for me.

Love the app but it could be some better things. I believe in my opinion there should be more guidelines on how much to invest if you were truly looking for a more residual income in or Divet in income/profit however you put it I’m not the stockbroker with this Siri service needless to say it would be highly appreciated for myself as well as many individuals I’m sure that would agree that are new to this type of software that information on how much you invest is what how much you should project over the next year instead of sayingThis is how much you may have one year 69 if you live that long basically not too appealing a monthly weekly quarterly half year full year statement 23 year statement something like that half decade full decade etc it would make people invest more that’s what I do marketing and sales he would drive a lot more revenue to this company if you should more incentives in the work I mean not saying that the long-haul isn’t lovely but some people might get cancer and die at 69 some people might get cancer and dying in the next 10 years and they’re only 40 the more present projection would definitely be a lot more Easier to understand

Amazing Way To Save & Invest Without Being Wealthy!. Acorns is amazing, I can’t say enough about it! First off, my wife and I are not the saving type of people but with Acorns round ups, you can have them automatically save your spare change from purchases you made...and what’s even better is that they automatically invest that $ into a diversified fund with a risk profile of your choosing! So if you want your saved money to grow a bit but don’t want to risk losing any bc of the market fluctuations, you can adjust your risk tolerance. furthermore, they offer parter vendors that will give you cash back into your acorns account if you make a purchase through clicking on their website through the Acorns “found money” section. I earned money just by getting insurance quotes, buying a sweaters at Macy’s and even by buying everyday things like food and gas. Bottom line, if you are like most people and don’t have the money to invest in the stock market but want a savings account that actually shows you growth results, Acorns is the way to go!!!! Trust me...

Awful Customer Support. I like Acorns as a concept and their investment model is sound. However, and this is the part that really ruins it for me, their customer service has been so incompetent and annoying in my case, beyond tolerance. They stand out even in the sea of deteriorated customer service in general. I was hoping that with multiple tries I will eventually run into that one great customer service representative that will make up for all the others. Never happened. Here is my case: I wanted to stop my automatic withdrawals from my checking into Acorns until the market volatility calms down a bit during the Corona threat. I stopped withdrawals in the app. In the app it clearly shows that withdrawals are NOT on. However, they kept making withdrawals from my checking account and investing every week. Then I emailed them and got a response with instructions on how to close my account, which wasn’t what I asked. Three more emails to them with the same request after that, with their responses confirming that automatic withdrawals were stopped, shortly after I would find out otherwise. This morning, two months after my initial request, I glanced at my checking, another withdrawal was taken out. What am I supposed to do to stop withdrawals for a time being? There is no number to call, support in the app clearly didn’t work...They really ruined a good thing for me. Now I will think about closing the account and sticking with the classics.

Invest when you can, don’t when you can’t. I was very excited about the opportunity to invest the spare change from my debit card transactions, but let’s face it; things get tough sometimes. I’m the only adult in my household with one kid & a below median income. I’m concerned about my future because I’ve watched one of my parents suffer financially, and as a result in many other ways, later in life because there was nothing invested for the future. So. When I can, I want to put anything I can towards a financially (& therefore otherwise) more secure future. I like Acorn because I can turn the investments on & off with the flip of a switch on the app. I can add more to my account anytime I want AND (the best part!) if/when I fall on hard times, I can withdrawal whatever of my funds I need. The withdrawal does take several days, but it’s definitely better than nothing! Plus, I can earn dividends on even the smallest investment. I don’t care if I get $0.10 per quarter on a $200 Depot - it’s better than nothing & I like how much control you have with the app.

Easy Saving and Investing for LONG TERM. First of all, markets fluctuate and gains are usually better for 1y+ (also you pay more taxes on short term investments) I wouldn’t start up if you have less than $100 to put in because your fee of $1 with absolutely negate any earned almost 100%. But for relatively cheap your savings have the potential to earn. There’s a $1 monthly fee for their “core” account. $2 for “later”. And $3 for “spend”. I find it hard to find money to save usually. However, with Acorns I find it motivating to track the balance and unlike a traditional savings with your bank your money cannot just be transferred immediately as it takes 3-6 days to receive your money, so you can’t impulse spend it. I just made my first investment that they’re going to allocate into RTFs highlighted by portfolio. I went moderately aggressive, and I will try to update every now and then. Dividends are paid quarterly for the stocks and monthly for the bonds. If anything it’s better than the savings accounts most offer with a monthly fee of $3 with balances less than $50 or $200 as there is no minimum account balance penalty, just a minimum of $5 to start investing.

Just do a monthly transfer to your savings instead..... If you spend a lot of your time shopping because there are deals, then this will be great for you as the only way to actually make money is by utilizing their “found” money deals. I’ve been using acorns for over a year now. I do roundups only, but I have every transaction I make rounded, so I’m averaging about $5-$10 a week. In this time I have made $0. In fact, I am -$26, but wait, that’s not including the $1 a month service fee I’ve been paying since I started. So I’m really -$38!!! Every single one of their investments has a negative YTD return. My own stock investments and 401k don’t even have that awful of a return. What makes it really bad is you can’t even see what their portfolio performances are until AFTER you’ve invested in them. All they show you in the portfolio selection process is what the top 6 companies are in that portfolio. Absolutely awful with their transparency on what the performance TRULY is. I’ve waited and waited to make this review hoping that their investments would make a comeback or that that they would answer my app feedback requests about adding info on the portfolio performances up front but each month I check back, nothing has changed and it’s another $1 spent and a little bit more in the negative. Thanks Acorns for saving my spare change and taking more than coinstar ever would have.....

Referrals are a JOKE. Acorns is fine if you want to squirrel money away for a very small percentage return and never think about it, or try to actually make it worth it with referrals (which is the sole factor in making a large return with this app). It is unethical at the lease and unlawful at the most extreme. I referred SIX people for the July promotion of 5 referrals for $500. The way you have to complete referrals is so complicated I had to walk everyone I referred through the process and two people still did it wrong. I only realized this in august after the referral offer was no longer valid. The customer service phone line is a joke, the line is so scratchy half the time you can’t hear the acorns representative. After probably 25 emails and 10 phone calls to acorns (I’m not kidding) to try to retroactively apply the credit for referring six people (1 over the 5 people required for said promotion) they said the referral bonus was in engineering and should be processed... Joke was on me because the “referral bonus” they were referring to was the $5 referral for one person, not the $500 I earned. Again, I this was after weeks of detailed conversation with customer service highlighting the fact that I rightfully earned the $500, and them acknowledging they were looking into it. I was speechless. This review is the last time I give this company a second of my time. I urge you not to waste yours.

User agreement nonsense. I opened my account over a year ago. Personally, I made the mistake of not doing enough research on the company before opening the account. After doing research, my disagreement is with the fees applied after cashing out. The bigger issue for me though, is the nonsense with how the company has been operating with it's user agreement. I received a new user agreement back in May of 2018. The agreement stated that I had to accept the agreement inorder for the app to keep managing my portfolio. At this point, I didn't want to accept the agreement so that the monthly deposits would be frozen. I received 2 more emails with extended agreement deadlines. I did not proceed with either. I have not opened the app since before the first agreement email. Regardless of my actions, the app has been taking money from my bank account on a monthly basis. I contacted customer support a few weeks ago and all I got was an email saying that they are sorry for losing my business and that I can login to my account, sell my investments, and close my account. If I follow through with this, it would require me to accept the agreement before I can even access my account. I have discussed this issue with my lawyer and we are in the process of notifying Acorns. I know others have had this issue as well, so I will try to give an update soon.

Simple to invest, nightmare to withdraw. Acorns is an attractive option if you are looking to begin your savings with little knowledge investing. The low monthly fees seem like a good option and the app has a great UI; although I’m not a fan of the first thing I see when I log in being another Acorns ad for opening more accounts instead of my portfolio. I’m leaving this review, however, so you begin your investment journey with this knowledge: Acorns makes it incredibly difficult for you to take your money out. I’ve had issues where they have transferred funds to closed accounts and confirmed transfer requests to the wrong businesses. If you rollover you’re Later account, you’ll need to find a Medallion Signature Guarantee even if you are the individual account holder. As well, they will not provide updates to your other firm and will keep you locked out of your account throughout the process. The industry standard is 1 month and they are well behind in their response. Imagine these issues, all the while, communicating with Customer Service though email and hour-long holds on the phone. I believe their model is to make it as difficult as possible to leave Acorns so that they hope their user gives up and sticks with their service. Plenty of other options available to early investors.

Transaction Dispute. A fraudulent company accessed my checking account and took almost $1500 from my account in a matter of a few hours. Upon seeing the first charge come out, I called customer support in a matter of a couple of minutes of it happening to implore them to freeze my debit card to stop the charges. I was told I would be sent an email, which I was, with directions. The directions were to log in to my account. Why can’t the person on the phone walk you through what do. I was obviously already logged into the app on my phone; how else did I know that fraud charges were hitting my account. I filed a dispute on the charges. I was told there would be a 10 day investigation with the possibility of a provisional credit depending on what they find. I will change this one-star review if this company actually does the right thing and provide me with the relief that I deserve and their insurance will cover. I hate to say this but I suspect it was an inside job and the same people who are investigating this matter are the ones who perpetrated it. I just received an email stating that I have not responded to their email inquiries (not true) and that they have determined that the matter is resolved on my end and that they have closed the ticket. I can’t believe that after having had $1500 fraudulently taken from account that not one single person from Acorns can give me a call on the phone. I am being treated like I am the criminal. Beware of using this company!

Idly save spare change. This app works perfectly, the reason for the poor reviews stem from people who try to save money they don’t have. This app is for those who have a few extra dollars after their monthly bills/expenses that wanna save their change rather than blow it. It invests your money into stocks automatically depending on the portfolio you choose but you have to keep in mind in order to see any sort of return you need to build up over several hundred dollars and have patience. This isn’t something that’s gonna accrued vacation money within weeks or months, this is something you build up at your own pace and forget about for the future. Don’t use this app if you feel you’ll need to withdraw from it frequently, it’s great for anybody who lives within their means! Me and my wife just had our first child and I figure by the time he get’s his license or wants to go to college this may be used to assist with that, otherwise it’s here for any reason that may arise in the future. Personally it’s fun watching my pennies stack up without even thinking about it.

Manual roundups feature lacking!!. This post is more of a question to the developer that I see respond to some of the reviews. I’ve tried posting reviews but they never appear so I can only assume that the creator of this app doesn’t want other people to see the limitations of the app. I tried call the customer service # that I’ve seen in some of the responses to the reviews and acknowledged that the limitation that I was asking about does exist and don’t know if it will ever be fixed. I do not round up all transactions but do them manually. Since the app was upgraded, the page with all transactions that can be selected from is no longer available. When I go to: Invest for your future —> Core —> Available Round-Ups, only 2 transactions appear with a “+” next to them. That’s fine until you see 2 transactions that you don’t want to round up. There is no way to skip them or see more than 2, so I can do any manual round ups after this. If I can’t perform manual round ups, I might as well leave Acorns because it’s useless to me without that feature. To the developer that monitors these reviews, are there plans on adding back the manual round ups the way they were prior to the recent upgrade? If so, can you give a timeframe? If not, I will be leaving.

Hidden Treasure!. I have always been interested in learning about investment strategies - with Acorn, the learning never stops! This app has loads of information right at your fingertips, as well as various tips on how to further grow your investments (all from various wealthy and wise investors). Plus you have the ability to apply what you’ve learned to your investments QUICKLY and EASILY! What I love most about this app is that I don’t have to think about what stocks I need to invest in, how much to invest and watch the market to track my returns and/or losses.... because it’s already being done! SIMPLE! NO BRAINER! And the type of stocks (and % of what’s been allocated to it) is clearly displayed and readily available for review! All I have to do is sit back and shop at my favorite stores (some of which are partnered with Acorn AND will either provide me ADDITIONAL cash back, OR invest a % of my spendings back into my Acorn account). For me it’s definitely a win-win situation. I am totally satisfied with the risk taken to try this app and definitely recommend this Hidden Treasure!

Promising idea but disappointing. The features of this app sound appealing and it’s why I chose Acorns over similar micro investing apps. Those features aren’t quite as good as they seem however. “Round ups” - they keep a tab of the round ups you make on your credit cards you link but don’t round those, but rather take the entire sum at once from your linked bank account. Small amounts of change for each purchase you wouldn’t notice, lump sums of money you do however and also that money is sitting in your account instead of immediately being invested. “Found money”- advertised as Acorns investing money for you for making purchases with their partners, and it’s like found money because you weren’t expecting it. Doesn’t work that easily or simply though, you have to book or make purchases through their site to get the rewards which takes a lot more forethought and effort and isn’t at all unique. Finally the money is withdrawn from your bank but won’t appear in your account until days later. Update: Closed my account and what was refunded to me didn’t was less than the value I had in the account. The shares were sold and I was waiting to be refunded but the amount it said was pending refund isn’t what I got refunded.

SLOW, TERRIBLE, INADEQUATE CUSTOMER SERIVE!!!. It’s by far the most horrific experience I’ve had with any bank customer service and that is saying something because I’ve been with BofA. 1-2 business day response for an email question?!!! What are these guys using dial up? In the world of instant communication that we live in, this is a joke. Why on earth does it take that long and if your lucky you get a response. Yes I love there product in the sense of saving money for the future but if you hit a wall your screwed I suggest not using there bank service, just transfer the money or link up your physical bank to your acorns. If you want an online bank with great customer service go to Discover or Ally even Chime and they all offer the same apy if that is your main use for an online banks and if you want to invest they offer that too. I just want my a new debit card because their debit card stopped working wether it be the chip or swiping. I have all my none responded emails and recorded all my attempts at contacting them via phone. I’m simply going to make it my hobby to blast this type of review time and time and time again and on all the social media platforms because this an absolute joke.

Glitchy, not enough choices, tripled fees. I had high hopes for this site. I have been using TD Ameritrade for 20 years and Schwab for a few months but wanted to take advantage of Acorns’ Round-Up feature and automatic approach. Been a member for less than a year and it could be so much better! Pros: Round-Up seems to work well, large list of banks/institutions to connect, easy automatic approach and setup, simple ETF basket investment choices based on personal goal and other questions, and weekly positive emails with informative and inspiring articles, stories and resources. Cons: Eliminating their “basic” plan and forcing current members into next tier at triple the monthly fee! (I just don’t need a checking account or debit card, sorry.) Actual linking of accounts requires multiple tries if it works (still can’t link two accounts after several attempts), forced to use “Plaid” to link—couldn’t input account info as an alternative on app; unable to choose specific ETFs or even sector choices; unable to choose monthly investment option like other sites—weekly ONLY.

No control!!. I got this app initially to use the feature that rounds up your debit card purchases and saves the change in an account for you. I had something similar before. However that one took the change out each time you used your debit card and immediately put it in their account, so you never felt like you were missing anything. This one waits until it adds up to at least $5.00 , and then they take at least $5 out of your account at one time. I know that it’s really the same thing in the end, but when you’re taking $0.23 or whatever it is at a time you don’t feel it. You see at least $5 come out, and you feel it a bit more. The other thing that I don’t like is that they control your money, YOU DON’T. I’m not sure why I can’t move my money from one part of the account to the other. I know that you can’t just movie it around like crazy, because it’s supposed to be invested for you. However, there should absolutely be a way to take like $50 out of your account and put it in your spend account if your in need. However, you can’t. At least I don’t know how (and I looked) if it’s possible. It is my money after all.

Good unless you need to withdraw quickly. I’ve been using this app for over a year and a half. It’s a great way to save money without feeling it really hit your pocket. A couple complaints- first is it keeps disconnected from my bank account for roundups, but not for the weekly withdraw so it’s odd it’s connects to withdraw but not for the roundups. It’s happened 5 or 6 times since I’ve had it and it’s kind of a nuisance to keep entering the same details. The reason I’m leaving a review is because last week I went to withdraw some of the money because I had a large expense and needed this as backup. I go to withdraw and it says it’ll take 3-6 business days to receive the money. It immediately deducts it from my Acorns account, but it’s business day 6 and it still hasn’t hit my account. So they’re getting the interest over 6 days while the money is neither in my acorns or bank account. I can see no resin for it to take so long to transfer to my bank account and ended up not being helpful at all when I needed it. Don’t count on it if you need a quick transfer.

Acorns. This is a real clever idea!! Only wish it were around 40 years ago. I called and got help from the nicest person I have spoken too in years, and I’m an old man so that should say something in itself. I won’t point her out for her privacy but if your fortunate to speak to a M.W. Your going to be glad she got your call!! Their can’t possibly be a nicer person there, hands down and I’ve been told I’m one heck of a poker player....What an Idea, ACORNS ?? Geez sure wish I thought of it!! Good Luck to All. I have to reply again... I’ve never been treated so good!! Monica and her team mates are second to none. If you don’t leave happy, something must be wrong with you. It must be like working in the Keebler Elf Tree, everybody’s always so happy. I think it was Warren Buffet that said the best advice he ever got was: When everyone’s buying like there’s no tomorrow, run like hell and get out of there! And when everyone’s droopy and sad because the markets down, Buy like there’s no tomorrow cause your buying at a discount that the guy yesterday paid.

Used to love it but now it’s TRASH. Update: Decided to wait a couple more months, ordered a replacement card TWICE and haven’t gotten it. It’s literally been months and no one can give any answers. Their agent responses are even more unrelated and useless than I originally posted my review. Just don’t do it. Everything in the app is good but DO NOT open the spend account. It’s complete garbage. I have the simplest question since I opened one a while back but they cannot respond with a straight answer or even a related topic. I literally keep asking the same question as simple as possible and they don’t know what they’re saying. Just keep getting the same automated response. Called my other bank and got an answer straight away so I guess I won’t be doing what I needed this account for. Update:The communication go so much worse. They can’t even read an email before sending a completely irrelevant response. There’s literally no way to contact anyone useful if you have a problem. My question is a super simple one: how to send money from a spend account to another account. Now I am stuck not knowing how to get my money out of their useless debit cards. Don’t do this to yourself and learn from me.

Easy, fast, automatic. Before starting to use Acorns, I did a ton of research. Like many others, I compared Stash investment app and Acorns. What I liked (and now LOVE) about Acorns is how easy and thoughtless it is to begin investing. To start, I did not want to pour thousands into the market all at once, but I wanted the option to do so later. You can use Acorns just to invest your spare change from a purchase or turn that change into 2x, 3x, 5x, or 10x the amount of the spare change from a purchase. I started my recurring investments low and now have a pretty hefty amount going into my portfolio every Friday. You can see a breakdown of exactly which companies Acorns has invested your money into and what percentage of each investment goes to each company. Be as aggressive as you want or as conservative as you want; there’s no right or wrong way to start investing with Acorns! Whether you want to break into the investment market or just use the app to automatically save money each week, this app makes it unobtrusive and simple. Give it a shot!

Acorns best decision ever made!. To be honest, at first I was a little skeptical but as I learned more about it and got the app figured out, which is really easy. With the articles to read to help save for the future.. It’s the best thing I could’ve done for my fiancée and I especially because I do a lot of online shopping, purchasing gas and General grocery shopping itself, makes you feel better to know you get Something back from moneys spent. You’d be surprised how by the end of the month you have extra money you Earned from day to day purchases. I’ve recommended all of my friends and family, since they’ve started using it makes finances feel better to know you have some help if needed in the future! Definitely a great and easy app to use! Especially when starting to grow for retirement. And! With there being many partners the found money part is Amazing. From EBay to Many Many others. It’s just good to know you have financial security that you Earnes yourself! Thank you Acorns!!

Worst Customer Service. I think this company would be better off if they did not even have customer service. Not only did it take weeks for a response from any one of them when I give them all the information that the requested they respond to me telling me that what I want is not possible. Then we are back to square one. I have only received two replies from them despite the six messages I have sent to them (each at least 1 business day apart from each other). Neither of these replies seems to be aware of the fact that the other replied to me. They’re both on completely different pages. Also I tried to deposit a couple hundred into this app with an additional weekly deposit and absolutely none of my money has gone through. It’s been withdrawn from my USAA bank account but within the app it has been marked as pending for over two weeks now. I am completely appalled at how terrible this app responds to people rather than money. Many of my friends have used this app and none of them have had any problems before and have never had to contact customer service. We are completely perplexed as to how this app can fumble its customer service and just general accessibility can be so primitive.

Can’t find anything!. I love Acorns! I have very little money but in the past I have never been able to save. I don’t miss the roundups and they add up really fast. I am already retired and live on a small income. My investments are a way to save for things that I need (large purchases like a down payment on a car or a pricey vacation). I’d rather have it here and have my little fund work for me instead of my bank which does the very minimum. This is the first time I have ever done anything with the stock market! Acorns takes care of me and my little bit of money as well as they do for those with many thousands of dollars. It makes me feel good. All that said, the last update has upended me. I can’t find anything anymore, including where to withdraw funds when/if needed!! It’s just full of information that I already have!! All the functions are a pain to locate. And the help information doesn’t help! Please switch back to the user friendly app it was before. I hated having to give you only 4 stars!

Investing hands off. I am not endorsed nor sponsored by Acorns as much as they should sponsor me because I’ve told many folks about this application without any kind of reference reward. I think acorns is very fair with their dividends and paying out. 7% IMHO is very good and that’s where I’m at with Acorns. Robinhood takes forever to deposit money, and won’t let you buy fractional shares. This is why Acorns rocks for hands off investors. Just throw whatever in, and wait. Beware, starting slow will earn you nothing and the 1$ per month fee can eat your earnings. But in theory if you’ve got a few hundred/thousand or more in this account you will see gains likely and dividends every month. I still can’t believe how much more I get now. I’ve had acorns for 2 years. That being said- from small acorns mighty oaks can grow ! Everyone in America should have this app. Our generation doesn’t know squat about money management. This is a very good start for beginners. 12$ a year is pennies if you think on it

Not for me. At first, I was impressed with Acorns. I signed up through a referral link and received the $5 bonus which was nice. I started out with issues regarding the round-up and invest now options. When I saw my first $5 in round ups I assumed I could hit the “invest now” button - which is right next to the round ups tally- but it actually invested an additional $5 on top of my rounds ups. There had been times when my round ups were not invested at $5 and instead they waited to deduct $6, $7 or $8 instead of the $5 that I assumed. My biggest issue was while using the auto-roundup investment feature I noticed they were rounding up on both pending and posted transactions. So, instead of investing $1 on a single whole dollar transaction they charged me $2 or even $3 for one transaction due to the pending and posted status (on one occasion they double rounded up during pending and then rounded up again after it posted to my account). I would not recommend using the auto round up feature and because of that I closed my account. I didn’t find it reliable and trustworthy for my use.

Great app and business model. A couple things to work on. Love the navigation and look to the app. The debit card they supply is very cool and has your signature on it that will never rub off. It did take over a week to finally receive my card in the mail, but this was more of an annoyance because I was eager to start using the round-up feature. Another annoyance is the incessant email and app alerts prompting you to link your account with your work payroll’s direct deposit. No way that I can find to turn these off. The area that is bothersome is that money transfers into one’s checking account (to reload the debit card) takes a LONG time to clear… like 5 business days. This is longer than any financial institution I have ever dealt with, and is the only major drawback to Acorns in my opinion. Support is very good, but they informed me that in the first 60 days of my account that transfers will take 3-5 business days, then 1-3 business days to clear after 60 days. Would happily change my rating if this problem were to be solved.

Round ups don’t work. When I first started using the app was pleased and referred a couple of friends. Then all the trouble linking and reminding your account to have some transactions round up, and some that don’t. It’s a check book nightmare. Then after 2 weeks of them blaming my bank as the the problem it was there change in software that knocked it out. All their tech agent gave then same speech if round ups don’t work I can manually add funds to my account it was another option. That’s when I learned no one had even looked at my account from tech as I have been also using that feature for months along with the round up feature but there whole software is advertised as grow acorns to oaks and that’s the roundups and they can’t get or keep it working and the support I got was the same answer each time like someone off the street is reading a manual to you about relinking your account but that set we did 2 weeks earlier and now the 4 tech person and many hours later on the phone still broke so you be the judge if it’s worth it for me I say no I will be moving mine to someplace I feel has a little more tech savvy to get me back up and going if they change things and my account stops working. David

No Real Point to this App. Although it seems like a good idea to have an app that can save money for you automatically and invest it, it’s really quite useless as the returns you will make are very marginal and you will more likely than not lose money as you are not protected when the market goes down. May as well learn to invest yourself, you’ll actually make money. Plus he account verification takes way to long and it inconsistent. Tried changing my funding source from one to another and then was told I had to verify my new account. Which wasn’t new as I verified and linked both of these bank accounts the first day I registered for Acorns. Now I am in this catch 22 where after I changed my funding source I need to verify it by inputting the deposit they made into my account which never gets made. Been trying to do this for 6+ days and now I am losing money because I am unable to withdraw any. Very sad and disappointed. Just learn to invest yourself.

I'm got robbed!!!!!. When I first got this app I was doing it for the soul purpose of it being convenient so it rounds up change from my transactions. At first it was okay but it was taking such a long time to transfer the account, my card was saying I had $5 dollars gone while my acorns account wasn't showing the $5. But my biggest issue is my investing... I set up my investments to it taking $80 A WEEK, but having second thoughts I almost changed it twice but ended up leaving it at $80. Apparently every time you adjust your investment amount, they charge you THAT AMOUNT LITERALLY RIGHT AFTER. I had to find out the hard way when I saw that it took a whole $240 from me THAT ONE DAY, but again it didn't show up on the acorns account... yet it showed that it was gone from my card. I really despise this feature with a passion because now I'm short on money more than I should be and. Ow I have to wait a whole 5-6 business days just to get MY money back... PAY FULL ATTENTION.... WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T MAKE AN INVESTMENT UNLESS YOURE 100% THAT ITS THE AMOUNT YOU WANT TO GIVE, OR ELSE YOU'LL LOSE A LOT OF MONEY BY JUST TRYING TO MAKE A DECISION!!!! 🤦🏽‍♂️ I'm deleting this app as soon as I get all my money back because it's just not worth it.

Decent WHEN it works. When it’s working correctly it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Three stars because they are HORRIBLE at communicating. For example my round ups randomly stopped working. After several messages to them they said it was because my bank requires me to un-link then re-link every so often. They never explained this in the past so I lost three weeks worth of round up’s. They suggested I try auto investing a set amount each week. 1st, doesn’t that still come out of my bank I have to re-link on a set schedule that you’re unsure of since “every bank is different?”, and 2nd, you promote and market your round up feature. That’s what I want. If I wanted to auto invest I’d open a Roth IRA (which I did through a different company with no fees thanks to Acorns suggestion 😂😂). Yes $1 a month is minimal but still you are paying for a service none the less. A service they can’t provide a lot of times and that fails often. You have to stay on top of your account and do their work for them if you don’t want anything ever interrupted. If I could start over I’d choose a different company to be honest. It’s average at best.

Great Concept but Shady Marketing. All in all, Acorns is great for people to begin saving. I’ve used it for a little over a year and it’s been prettt cool to watch something that starts little grow into something more. For that I give 5 stars. The offset to 3 stars is their constant marketing schemes. If you’ve ever read the book “Start With Why”, you’d know it’s a form of manipulation via promotions. What they do is they say hey we will give you $1000 if you recruit only 5 people to Acorns. But reality is, you’re given 2-3 days, they all have to make initial investments which can take some time, so therefore it’s practically unattainable. They’re relying on breakage as, of course, they don’t want to give out $1000 to everyone, so they make it unrealistic enough to where they can get 2-3 new people each time they run that little scam (it’s very frequent) while maybe only a select few actually reap the benefits of the promotion. Eventually, there’s no one left to bring to Acorns, so it kind of works as a pyramid scheme in a sense. I feel it’s dishonest and it’s the only thing I don’t like about Acorns.

Peoples bitterness. This app is great if you’re not inept. I have put $1,500 in this account over 8 months. I have 3 referrals, $15. $12 in dividends. 7% return, or, $70 in market gain. That’s almost $100 in free money so far. I put $25 every Monday in my account and round up. About $180 a month. I have no intention of withdrawing my money but growing my oak is priority because this is a saving account. The market could drop 30% which would be a sign of a recession and I would buy the same shares at a discount at that point. Think long term and let the market work for you. The people who say Acorns overdrafted their account when they put $5 in their account... if you don’t have $5 in your bank account.. smh. I’m waiting for the day when my acorns account has more money than my checking account. I’m waiting for when my quarterly dividends are enough to pay for my account fees. That day is coming soon and then I might upgrade even further and get Acorns spend. I do not work for these people.

Dishonest Money Withdrawing Machine. I manually entered the routing and account numbers for the checking account I wanted this app to withdraw from because the Plaid financial authentication service wanted to connect all accounts from my institution, which I canceled out of, but it still connected all those accounts, including an 18 month CD that charges large fees for withdrawing before maturity. I only discovered this on my own while exploring the app: it didn't tell me that it accessed five separate accounts from one account & routing number. Worse, when I tried to cancel the automatic investments, it wanted me to authenticate my checking account with a transaction that hadn't happened yet, so I would have to wait 3 business days before I could cancel a weekly withdrawal that presumably would have happened before then. After canceling and deleting everything I could find, I can only hope they won't rob my proper investments. Even if this is a misunderstanding, these people should know there are a lot of folks out there who could use a little more transparency. I give this app two stars because it's otherwise decently well designed.

Acorns is a Scam. I signed up for this app based on my brother's recommendation. I was investing once a week. I received the offer that if I refer three friends, I will receive $500, so I referred three of my family members, and they are also investing. According to the acorn policy, the rewards should be verified within 14 days, and I'm supposed to get money, but it's been months and I haven't received any. I received another offer in which I would receive $700 if I preferred 5 friends. I invited 5 friends, and it's been more than 14 days, but I still haven't received my renewal. It's a complete scam, believe me. I'm going to delete my accounts and will notify everyone I invited to do the same. Someone playing with other people's money and making money is not acceptable. This app should be banned by the US government as well as the rest of the world. I'm so regretted that I've already squandered some of my money here. Another issue is that they have terrible customer service. Every time you call, they will put you on hold and no one will be able to help you with your problems, and they will prove that you are wrong. Please avoid it at all costs.

Love the concept but frustrating... I do like the round ups and the concept behind it but I’ve had an acorns account for several months now and every time there is an update and many times when there is not one....my account becomes unlinked (cards I’m using for round ups). I always go back and re-link them but it’s come to the point of being annoying. It should be easy to do this. Yesterday I could not re-link them so I think I’ve thrown in the towel. I’ve contacted customer support and once it’s fixed, I’ll withdrawal and move elsewhere. The two stars are for the concept of Acorns and not the ease of using the app. Update: My Acorns acct still unlinks with every update and often when there is not an update. It’s approx every other week. Maybe it’s my credit union acct? I honestly don’t know. I just logged in and see there’s been no round ups for 9 days. My card says it’s linked but it did this the last time. I had to manually unlink it and then relink the card. It’s just a bit too much to manage. I love the concept but it should be easy and for myself, it’s not been. Pulling out and will look for something at my credit union or another app.

At my wits end. I admittedly made a mistake and changed my primary funding source by accident. But trying to change it back has been unbelievably difficult. I have submitted the requested documentation 3 times now and have never received verification. And with each inquiry as to why not, I’m just given a blanket response telling me how to submit documents, which I’ve already done. Customer service is a joke. Once this issue is UPDATE: Funding issue resolved...somewhat. I’ve had to use Paypal as my main funding source, which is linked to my bank. So in a roundabout way my issue has been resolved, albeit with no actual help from the lazy and inattentive support staff offering nothing more than pre-rendered responses. But now I’ve been sporadically locked out of the app and web browser and told my password I’ve had for months is incorrect. Cool! This service has taken a complete nosedive in quality in the last few months for me. New investors should look into other options

Getting started. A little complicated at first, I always read reviews and there seemed to be more positive than negative. One mathematician calculated this was an expensive fee system another simply stated a rate so low couldn’t be found on the normal trading market... which is it? guess it depends on values and return. Looking for simple that I don’t have to track everyday. I was also a bit concerned about customer service issues. Talking to somebody is great but this is an email/electronic based service. I received an email response for my electronic submitted question in under 24 hours more like 10 hours. Nice job, keeping rating at 4 stars because the mobile app is a little confusing and details of setup are hard to find hence my question about automatically taking round-ups prior to signing up. Answer is no, previous round-up eligible transactions must be manually approved. Note “even” transactions round to the next dollar. So if you have a transaction in your funding source account for $1 round-up automatically adds another dollar to invest. Enough for now thanks

Don't download it's a scam!. Their company is dishonest and they falsely advertise to get you to get people to grow their business. They recently had a "promotion" where if you invite 10-12 friends to use the app they pay you $1000. We'll guess what? Yup you guessed it, it's a scam! False advertising. Also once you complete the task the processing takes for ever and they always short you on the number of accounts you referred. Then once you exalt the efforts into getting more referees they'll tell you you've completed the process but here's the kicker when it's time to pay you your money they will constantly put it off with slow feedback and while all this is going on nothing is going into your account they'll even tell you hey you should see it processing by the end of the day which is another lie. Then once you've had enough of the deceit they will hit you with the major lie and say someone you referred closed their account out before the time frame making your referrals invalid all though they already paid you the money for the referrals which means you completed your referrals. It's complete bs and a scam! Do not grow this company they need to be banned from the App Store!

Stealing money.. I signed up for this account because I was ready to start investing. I felt that having the option to do round ups would make me feel better about my spending and make better choices when spending money. I have been signed up for almost a year and was never able to use the round up service being that they are not able to attach to my bank account. However they were able to take 5 dollars a week for ten weeks which I found odd. At this point I now have a random bank account attached to my account and I have no clue whose it is. I have been trying to get to the bottom Of this but no help from customer service. I have verified all the info that they required however the final piece they are asking for. I can’t provide. They want me to confirm the amt that was entered into my account that is on file. But the account they is on file is not mines. I’m not sure what sort of system issues crossed my account with someone else’s. I just want the 5 dollars a week I put in. Now no one is answering me. This makes me feel really uneasy and unsafe especially because they asked For personal info and sec info pertaining to my bank account. Really annoyed and upset that I can not have my money back.

Great App, but could be streamlined.. Overall I’ve nothing really bad to say as I’m just getting started and crunching some numbers myself to figure out if I’ll stay with Acorns in the long run. But two things Acorns could do to make it easier for non-Wall Street money managers or the like: first, those of us who do the Round-Ups manually vs. automatic, we should be able to select all the transactions we want for one larger deposit instead of limiting it to about $5 a time. Who wants multiple $5 (or thereabouts) withdrawals from their banks on the same day? Second, the graph indicating profits/loss isn’t very clear. Let’s face it, anyone who’s trying out Acorns knows of or probably also used Robinhood. Their graph is a bit easier to understand. These minor issues aside however, Acorns is pretty solid in my opinion and will likely keep with it as a supplement to my finances. Just needs some streamlining and it would be even better!

If I could give 0 stars I would. This has by far been the worst banking experience I’ve ever had. If I could close my account I would but I can’t actually access my money. I closed my bank account that was previously linked to acorns and have tried repeatedly to link a new account. They said it can’t be verified unless I enter the micro deposit amounts. But no deposits have been made to my account. Now my spend account is overdrafted and they won’t let me deposit to the account because my source still can’t be verified. I’ve provided them with multiple bank statements. I keep getting emails saying I’m going to be turned over to collections but when I call the help line they can’t help me deposit money into it. I also can’t close my accounts and withdraw the money in my investment accounts because they won’t verify my bank information. I asked if they would transfer directly from my investment account to my spend account and they said that’s not possible. I’d first have to withdraw it (which I can’t do) and then deposit it (Which I also can’t do). I’ve tried repeatedly to remedy this situation and if I get turned over to collections I will be looking into my possible legal options. This is beyond ridiculous.

New portfolios. The option to invest in ESG ETFs is a great new option and I was excited to see this. However, in order to partake in this new option it forces you to withdrawal the investments you have already made, and then reinvests them. This causes taxes to be withheld from any gains you have made. I wish they would add an option to keep the investments you have while investing any new deposits into the new ESG portfolios so I don’t have to pay the tax on my earnings. Otherwise this is a great app and makes investing so easy. I have no other complaints and recommend this to anyone serious about wanting to invest but not sure where to start. Round up feature is great and the recurring investment option is pretty seamless. The amount I have accrued in dividends and the returns I’ve made on my investments have already exceeded the price ($1/month) the app charges so it has essentially paid for itself. I’d give it 5 stars if they added the option to invest in the ESG portfolios with all new investments and not forcing you to switch everything else over as well.

Many Options for Learning. As an adult, I sure wish some sort of “financial education “ had been part of my high school experience! Now, it is (and was for my son) thankfully, but for me, THIS ACORNS APP has been that kind of educational help. I’ve learned about investing and about the market, as I’ve used the app to show me what my future might look like if I invest more or less starting now, and I’ve learned about saving even small amounts with roundups. There are articles to read and always more to learn through this app, and I love it! I now have the new Spend card and account, which I love, however I am having a glitch - it’s taken over two months and they still don’t show my active checking account as “verified,” even though my first couple of months I was using it just fine. So I’m not sure what that’s about. But that’s the only issue I’ve ever had with Acorns, and overall I LOVE the app and what it has taught me about managing my money. Thank you!

Best of the best!. This app is really amazing! U have multiple ways of making money. I say is better then a savings account because savings account u get like under 2% interest, that is nothing! Unless your a millionaire and u collecting 2% interest from saving but let’s be real, most of us ISN’T. So when Make open this FREE account , u have to place a primary card and u have multi-secondary cards to put in. Every week/month u can set a day and amount of how much u want this app to take out from PRIMARY account. They take it and place the money into your portfolio, i personal do $50 a week on Friday! Just make sure u got money in your primary account , so that’s 1 way it building your portfolio, another way is.. all the money u SPEND using your primary and secondary card it automatically takes a small % into your portfolio, so that’s 2nd way u making money, 3rd way is the total amount of your portfolio they invest small % into stock market in different sections! This app good for long term saving!

Financial educator. For most people this app works as a way to save spare change. It promises to squirrel away small funds and eventually materialize into larger sums of money. It definitely does this. I joined in 2016 and began modestly rounding up and set up a recurring amount of $20 a week. I promptly then forgot all about it. About a year later I opened the app and was pleasantly surprised to see almost $1500. This prompted me to investigate what was happening with my ‘spare change’. I learnt about ETFs, Vanguard, compound interest, the S&P 500 and my spending habits. The app publishes ‘finance articles’ every week and are written in such a way i actually understand them. I was so inspired I increased my roundups to 3x and additionally increased my weekly recurring amount to $50. I have now almost reached $10,000! This year alone I have watched my ‘spare change’ double in value. This app has changed my life. I am now modestly financially educated and excited to share this knowledge. Highly recommend.

Love it - can’t wait to keep growing!. I love this app! It’s genius! It is definitely an app you want to download, put it at the end page of your phone and forget about it. In the beginning I was obsessively checking in and the ups and downs of the market almost put me off. Then I got really busy and I didn’t check it for two weeks and when I did there was so much in there!! It’s savings that don’t hurt, you don’t even notice it. I do check every time I’m going to make a purchase online for that found money which I love because hey it’s free money! As a first investment venture the experience so far is great, I do wish there was more “grow” stuff as I would love to learn more about investing and the market itself, like sometimes I’m down and I just wonder why? So I have to go looking for what affected the stock market and I just wish acorns would develop more content that was more “live” to really help users understand their investment as I imagine most are fairly new to this game.

Great App. Needs more features.. Acorns is a great app, but it’s not getting better over time. It has stagnated. While they’ve reached that lull point of stability whereby everything works properly, nothing is new. This is always what happens when a company gets investment money; they over-hire and sit on their hands pretending to be focusing on efficiency and scale. I’d like a Goals feature like Betterment has. What I’d also like to see is their being less attached to the single mode and method. I’d like more granular control over investments, the ability to dedicate funds to specific stocks if I’d like, and just general granularity that can be tucked away so that I don’t have to have 85 different investment apps to buy what I need. What about those who like passive investment for the long haul but are ready for more? A real, percentage-based cashback program would be so much better than this cheesy, commission-based Earn program. Some days I don’t know why I pay the $3/mo. for the privilege of their Spend account when most banks would pay ME to keep my money with them. Spending goals is long overdue at this point, especially for an account I’m paying for.

No ability to fine tune “Round Ups”. I have been client and user of Acorns since 2016, and believe that this is a genuinely good way for people looking to get into investing, and set aside a little bit of money for their future, without much difficulty. That being said, their “Round Ups,” which automatically round up your debit/credit card purchases to the next whole dollar, and invest that money for you, is the bread and butter of this service. Unfortunately, they do not allow you to set rules or thresholds on these round ups, so your $2.01 cup of coffee every morning, costs $3 now, or an additional $20-$30 per month. I find it somewhat hypocritical, and dare I say predatory, that on one hand, Acorns provides financial health, budgeting, knowledge tips (often quite good ones), but then does not allow you to fine tune your round ups to only occur when it’s “$0.50 or less.” It has made me turn this feature off many times, and made me hesitant to refer this to friends. I have sent feedback to them, and I will adjust my rating to 5 stars if they implement this feature.

Great App. Love the app so far. Ups and downs in your account can be frightening but thats any market so nothing to freak out over. The only issue that I have had so far is when it comes to found money. If you leave the app it requires a passcode to get back in and brings you back to the homepage which can be really frustrating when trying to purchase something while speaking with your SO via text about the purchase in question. Security is a wonderful feature but resetting any progress made towards a timed purchase for tickets that are being held for me and could be bought out by someone else at any time is really quite frustrating. It would be amazing if acorns could implement a feature where “found money” can be accessed directly via these partner companies websites and not solely through the app that closes everything out the second you leave the app. Keep up all the good work over there acorns! Look forward to seeing some new updates! ;)

Investment for the inventors. The people who invented this app is so smart into fooling you that their helping you invest and double your money when in reality they withdraw more than the nearest sent or dollar when actually they are rounding to the nearest 5$ and up minimum even tho they state that it’s by the nearest cent unless you choose to have a consistent withdrawal fee that you can input the amount yourself...the gyst behind this was for the inventors of this app to profit by using a wide outlet of an audience as their income source in which they keep almost all the profit and only deal you a 10% cut....I thought this app would help me save money not just steal it from me and scatter it into increments all over the virtual web market....customer service is trash and super late on responding but yet we rate it a 4.5 star app because the rich is getting richer off of it so let’s keep the merchantilsm spirit guys because pyramid schemes is a go to for marketing right 💁🏽‍♂️

Can’t access since 2019 - no support- 0 stars!. They took my information and did not provide service or support. I signed up for Acorns late 2018/early 2019. I provided all of my personal information and all of my banking information. After providing it, the app said I needed to provide additional verification without details and without a phone number to call. Ever since when I try to login it says additional verification needed and does not allow me in. When I’ve contacted support they say my request needs to go to a special team. The “special team” has not provided a response since the new year and I still cannot access the account despite providing all requested information and following every step they’ve asked. I’ve now asked them to delete my account twice and 3 weeks later they still have not responded. Personally I’m sad I gave them my information because now they have it and I have no way to know what they are doing with it. I don’t feel like they are a legitimate investment company if they do not provide any support for their product. Glad I never funded it. I’ll take my money elsewhere, but not until I ensure they provide support when needed.

A sneaky way to build a nest egg. This is an excellent way to accumulate savings without even feeling it. Their’s a retirement account also to get some retirement savings started. This could be the only retirement that some people can manage. I’ve had very choppy employment. This is great for me because I’ve always felt that I was to broke to get started, consequently, I got a very late start on my retirement savings. Small automatic withdrawals are the key, I believe. The portfolio that I set up in the ‘Invest’ account was just answering a few questions. It was the same with the account that they call the ‘Later’ account. It’s a retirement account. If your account balances goes down, you still own the shares. Historically, it’s worked out to hold on to them. That’s how Warren Buffet does it. But I know nothing about investing, so DON’T take my word for it. Nobody knows what will happen in the future. If you can start an account for your children, it would be a great way to get their future under way doing round ups and/or contributing small amounts.

Unsure. I signed up only a few days ago. I set it up to MY account. Well my name is still on my exes account due to moving child support money to my bank account. It automatically without my permission linked that account too. Not only that but used all his round ups, atm usages for $1 each, bill payments etc. and went back like a week doing so. I didn’t agree to use the other bank account. Only the one I signed up with. I was shocked when I saw $10 taken out already when I have swiped my card twice. Looked and caught it thankfully. It still hasn’t deducted my card swipes personally. Only the ones on the account I didn’t opt to register but apparently the ap decided to without my approval. Rly reconsidering my decision to join now. Giving it a couple of days and if this continues I’ll close my account. I simply can’t afford to pay $10 every couple of days for it. Let alone it actually cost me money to move child support. Update. I’m a dollar general employee. I can’t invest in a lot of places because of it. I literally watched all my money I had invested go away with the portfolio they designed for me. I highly doubt I will put another penny in this app. Beyond dissatisfied.

Not All It’s Cracked Up To Be. I’ve been investing with Acorns automatically at the level of $50 per month for the past 7+ months. Here’s what I’ve experienced. Initially, I was excited about using Acorns for the automatic savings, investment AND the found money feature. Immediately, I turned on that found money feature. I shared an Acorns invitation with several friends and family members, as well. Soon I began getting feedback from them that I’d just given Acorns permission to track and use all my spending information according to their privacy policy. I decided that feature did not benefit me as much as it did them. Turned it off. Now, with a few months into this automatic savings, my contributions with dividends and interest have netted just pennies, and they are charging $1 per month. I’ve lost money and would have been better off in a traditional savings account that does charge monthly fees, at least until my invested amount reaches a significant balance. I didn’t really expect huge results but I didn’t expect to lose money while trying to build savings automatically. My advice is to take the time to read carefully the privacy policy, and consider whether another more traditional institution or savings avenue might be better for suited for you.

FRAUD. Well after reading all the reviews it’s almost seems like this company needs a class action suit against it. I signed up and elected for the round up option. I’ve issues getting into my account since I opened it. Finally got someone to reset the password for me. Sign in and realized they hadn’t rounded up for over 8 months. That for some reason they stopped rounding up and investing it for me but they didn’t stop charging me the monthly fee to do that. So here I thought they were investing my money and they weren’t. Just taking my monthly fee to do JACK. Customer service was no help just “Oh sorry for the inconvenience”. Seems like companies acting as investment agents should be doing just that. Seems like if they’re not it’s an issue for the FEC who governors investment firms. Customer said maybe it was your bank that blocked the round ups. I was like then don’t you think you should have notified me if that was the case. Seem like they had no problem taking my monthly fee from the exact same bank. Just asked to withdraw my funds. As soon as it’s in my bank account I’ll close the account. This company is just screaming for a class action suit.

Great for all ages! It’s a gosh darn digital change jar that invests your spare change!. *ONLY catch is they do charge $1, $3, or $5, depending on your plan and they don’t exactly make it very well known, but it’s still extremely worth it with the spare change. My investments pay the cost.* *It also takes 7-14 days to Withdraw from your change jar account, but it’s all legit with no, or extremely minimal fees (I don’t remember paying anything and I took out $50) I couldn’t believe this wasn’t a scam, I search high and low. Nope! 100% legit and it’s helping me save so much. $50 in change a month on average, and I think I’m going to double that because I don’t even notice the money missing. Their deals are also amazing, takes 120 days (haven’t gotten mine yet, so we’ll see. I’ll take a star away if anything goes wrong) is at $55 of free money, and (if it does work) much more as I’ll be using their debit card (only for their specials and emergencies) Top notch for beginners, I’m 28 and feel so stupid I didn’t do this a decade ago (well idk if it was around then!). Once I build up some extra cash, I’ll start moving money around myself with Robinhood. (But continue this app obviously because a cyber change jar that isn’t a scam and invests the change? FREAKIN COOL) But I’ve easily combined my Roth IRA, added to throw in $5 a month while I’m unemployed. It just makes it so easy.

Not a good option in general. First and foremost, to make back anything close to the fees you’re paying you need at least $10,000 and need to be at least it moderately aggressive investing and that’s with a good market. Round up seem like a cute idea but they’re completely useless against the fee that you’re paying. I personally had an issue that they were not able to resolve in that I am a sole proprietor and therefore my only checking account happens to be a simple business account. They would not link to a business account. They requested documents for me that I supplied and they still would not linked to the business account even after I complied. There may be a solution to this problem except for that this company will not do phone support so the communication is absolutely terrible. Between this and the inescapable math I’ve not actually able to earn money here I decided to withdraw and close my account. I might’ve considered actually putting $10,000 into this account, but the way they’re doing business is too shady and the communication is too poor. I’m not trusting them with my money. There are other self driven investment tools that are much more economical. Too bad. They have a good elevator pitch but it doesn’t survive further examination.

Scam alert You might not get back your money. Hi there my name is dov just as all of you I was looking to find a way to save some money on the side when I finally was able to save about $2400 and then came a time where I needed it for a rainy day so I decided to cash the money out so they told me 3 to 6 days the money will be in my bank account so I waited after six days of income I waited 10 days until I started emailing support and then they said you need to verify your account with us so I went and verify my bank account but they said it wasn’t good enough so I went to my bank and got all the documents they wanted and then sent it to them but yet again they have no reply to me I called and waited on the phone for 30 minutes and not only did I wait for so long the call just dropped and said sorry no one can help you this whole thing is been a horrible experience I hope I could have a lawyer get my money back but for now all I could do is tell the rest of us don’t put your money in this place because it’s a headache getting it out If you really want to resolve this matter I would love to get a call from you guys I sent you my information in the email

I hate this app. So i’m not sure where I should start about my hatred for this app, but I think I will start with the fact that they overdrafted my account, I will never use Acorns ever again, I had a set amount of money in my account for them to take five dollars out, they took that five dollars plus some random amount that was over the amount that I had in my account which then made my account go into the negative balance, and put me even more into a negative balance because it overdrafted and I could not get money in there fast enough, I am so livid because their customer service is so slow it takes almost 2 days to get a response for anything, and now I am probably going to get my money that I took out of acorns into my account but I would still be in the negative balance, hopefully my bank will take off this overdraft fee that I have and I will be deleting my Acorns account because this is ridiculous, are usually try to keep $10-$20 in my bank account for emergencies but acorns took it all. Before anybody says or asks yes I took off any auto service and made sure that it was manual. They should make sure to ask for permission multiple times before they actually take money from people’s accounts!!!
