OK port of an excellent game. If I were to review the game itself I would give it 5 stars. It's one of the best and most addictive games I have ever played: well balanced, good graphics, fun gameplay mechanics, and more. I like it so much that I actually bought the game twice: once on iOS for my iPad mini 2 and iPhone 6, and once on my iMac. I do have to say that the iMac version is far superior. First of all, in my opinion the iPhone 6's screen is just too small for the kind of gameplay of selecting precise spots to move units in a tactical game. Secondly, performance-wise the game is just very hard on the Apple devices. In particular my iPad mini 2 (A7 processor) struggles at times to keep up with it. It doesn't affect the gameplay but it's just not smooth. On the iMac it's a very smooth 1080p experience. Third, the game can be a little difficult on a touchscreen because of the way the controls are implemented (not very precisely). Compared with a gamepad or mouse/keyboard it's just a lot less precise. BUT, for a version of the game that I can fit in my pocket I suppose this is an OK tradeoff. I'd say the game itself is 5 stars but this port is 3 stars.

Xcom unknown vs xcom within. I originally owned the first version xcom unknown. Great game but had some stuttering bugs that annoyed me when playing. Xcom within has been a night and day difference. I'm playing on iPhone 6s Plus iOS 10.2 and seriously the loading is less than 5 seconds for me between launching the battle and being on the ground. In xcom unknown I'd sit there for 30 seconds or more. Graphics are better, controls are better, I have no issues with going up or down a level (use either two fingers swiping up/down or touch the camera icon and use the up/down icon). I'm more than 8 hours into the game with full power armor, new ships, exalt and weapons. I see the DLC for the game in the options but maps are smaller. To me this is a 9 out of 10. I love strategy and action games, this is fluid gameplay and can get really hard fast if you aren't smart with your strategy. Big difference between the two is the DLC, loading times and bigger battles with more than just aliens, humans too. But I must acknowledge that my experience is likely better because I'm on an iPhone 6s Plus so better processor (dual core) and more ram (2gb ram) than previous devices I've used (iPad 2-3, iPhone 5-6). I recommend but best experience will he with newer devices, with the DLC added this second installment was worth buying again for an experienced adult gamer; supports app switching (love I can take a call and get back into the Frey).

Buggy as hell. I have an iPhone 6 plus with the latest iOS as of time of writing this review. First, I was not able to change elevation. Restarted the game and then I was able to. Then the game gets stuck in some menu option. Restart and then it works. Restart restart restart and then restart. How many times should I restart the the game in 10 mins to play??? The game does not freeze people. It just gets caught in some state and won't let u progress. These are clear bugs in the game. I won't wish such frustration on my worst enemy. Such a shame. Such a disgrace. And don't believe the PR rubbish that they are fixing the bugs. This is the rerelease of the game and they have still not figured this out. And all the hype and editor's choice this game has received is all because of PR. That does'nt change the fact that the game is waaaaay to buggy.

5 Stars with a caveat. It's one of the best video games ever made. High-level strategy, a compelling plot, and a lot of alien killing. It's also better on every other platform on which it's available. That's not to say this is a bad port. It's better than I expected; I'm just more used to the more agile controls and smoothness on the PC. It's also missing the Slingshot missions and the crappy Psy chick missions, but that's certainly not a deal breaker. It's also lacking the escort Council Missions, but that's not a big deal either (except for missing the best NPC in gaming history of General Van Doorn). Long story short, get it.

Retains the feel of the PC version. I have an iPhone 6+ w/ 64 GB if that matters. This is the first and only game I've installed. It runs flawlessly. That said, I've only played the tutorial and only have 8 hours of gameplay, so I can't give a detailed review but I did want to offer a counterpoint to the "buggy as hell" reviews. I played the original xcom games on a PC back in the 90s and this retains that same feeling of tenseness and satisfaction. My only complaint is that I wish I had more screen real estate, but of course I'm not sitting in front of my 24" monitor so it's a silly complaint. Nonetheless, it does make situation awareness a challenge. Still, it's the same addictive game I remember so fondly. Best $7 I've spent in awhile. Update: I just completed my 4th full campaign. That's about 2 solid months of playing. I've had all of one (1) crash. When I restarted from the crash I added an action so as not to trigger it again and it worked like a champ. If I could give it an strange star if do it.

Fun gameplay, but a dead end. The gameplay is fun. It reminds me of the original. Graphics are decent. Aliens use pretty good squad tactics. That's enough to warrant 3 stars. However, the game is old and hasn't been updated for 3 years. For mobile games, that's an unpardonable sin. The mechanics are tough even at the easiest setting. For example, keeping all the countries happy to prevent them from exiting the council is near impossible. Keeping your team alive to promote beyond corporal also proves to be overly difficult on the easiest setting. The final nail was today. For no apparent reason, audio dialogue just stopped working. I tried resetting to the default settings, stopped and restarted the game. I even restarted my device. No luck. So, I've reinstalled the game. If that doesn't work, I'll probably delete it and write it off as a $10 loss. Shame on you 2K.

Bring on the E.T. Slaughter!. As someone who played the original X-Com and almost every iteration of the game since, I have to say this one is amazing. The fact that it is a mobile game is even more remarkable. The game play and content are top notch. The only thing that lets you know your on a phone is the screen size and the lack of a mouse. Now said lack of mouse has caused some combatant movement that I did not intend, and a “undo” option would be great, but that is really my only critique. (You can overcome the problem with slowing down and being extra careful with screen touches.) All in all, this is a great game and well worth the money.

Great game, bad bug. I really enjoy this game, it's very similar to the original I played in the 90's. Only one complaint on this app, and it's a big one... On iPad 4, the game crashes very frequently once a mission is completed. Meaning that I finish a tough mission, app crashes, then have to go back to the last 'autosave' marker and do it all over again. Sometimes this is only a couple melee's back, other times it sets me near the beginning. Very annoying. Every time this occurs it's during the animation of the shuttle craft landing at the XCOM base. Good animations, but it's obviously causing problems with gameplay. Please keep working at this..it's really good. Just than dang crashing bug. Thanks for bringing back some of the fun I had in my childhood.

Best Turn Based Strategy & Tactics Game! 3 Years Running!. Gentlemen and Ladies, I would like to applaud the hard work by the grunts in the back rooms at Feraxis Games for updating this for the 64-Bit Appocolypse! It would have been a true shame to lose this game. This game is a interesting take on the classic kill all the aliens games out there. It became genera defining. You will have to equip your soldiers on the strategic layer of the game. While you are engaged in tactical combat on the ground repelling aliens where ever possible. You will have to make meaningful decision. Somethings will not go as planned, and good soldiers will die, but make sure it was not in vain.

Please Update Camera Controls. It’s XCOM. On your phone. It’s a perfect little time killer throughout the day, as the game picks right back up where you left it as long as you don’t completely terminate the app. My one and only gripe about this port is the camera. Please, for the love of the Council, add more camera options. The current sensitivity gives me Tinder flashbacks with all the swiping that’s required to move it in any meaningful way. I want to be able to drag the camera at a speed and distance that matches my finger’s movement. And I’d like an option that allows me to keep the camera zoomed out when I switch soldiers or end one’s turn. Constantly zooming the camera out before moving soldiers is bothersome. These little improvements would greatly increase what is already a stellar experience.

Best iOS game to date!. In my previous review I wrote that I rate games by playing time only. My playing time reflects everything that matters to me. Not graphics, bells, whistles, songs, but how long the game keeps me entertained. As an XCOM neophyte I had a steep learning curve. The in game tutorial was the best I could ask for. It was optional, not forced, and the game was as 'unlocked' immediately as it would ever be. Cxms game had a incredible false ending that caught me unawares and led to a new story arc and many hours of play time. My only caveat is that this game is a battery killer and it seems to heat up my iPhone 5 64 GB. Plan accordingly or this is a nuisance. This version seemed rushed to capitalize on popularity and contains more snags than the original. I was caught in a loop at the Chryssalid wharf and had to restart game and iPhone to play. I had to start at a prior auto save and redo the entire mission.

Not a fair fight. I absolutely loved this game for the PS3 back in the day. While it is still the essence of that great game, the difficulty of this version is completely unfair and out of whack. I was accustomed to playing this game on normal difficulty and up for PS3 so I was clearly familiar with strategies and tactics for success. In this version the percentage plays are totally stacked against you. Thinking this might have just been a subjective bias, I proceeded to reload one specific engagement 25 times on the Easy difficulty setting. My soldier was 56% to hit the target, the final result was a 2/25 success rate. Obviously a limited sample size but it confirmed what I had been suspecting. Not to mention over watch is rarely successful and the enemy’s hit rate is through the roof. It’s such a shame because this is one of my favorite games and it runs very smoothly on an iPad, yet I constantly find myself frustrated at an enemy that is nearly unbeatable even on the easy difficulty setting.

Shockingly, this game mostly works on iPad pro. Yeah yeah I know I’m 8 years late with this review. I’m just here to say, this remains to this day one of the best PC-style games on iOS. Also, it mostly does works on my big fancy new iPad Pro. It looks pretty good too! There’s a couple drawbacks, but if you’re reading this you’ve probably played the game on PC already and are looking for a mobile hit of sweet sweet XCOM, so I’m sure your brain will fill in the sound effects. Because there won’t be any. Sound worked perfectly well the first play session but then never came back on. Also, save scummers of the world, this is our time to shine because the game will sometimes freeze during in-game cutscenes (I suspect another sound issue). Reloading a save will get you through. The one bug that does really kill the game is the Sectopod jump animation (or sound!). So you just need to kill those before they get a chance to jump. Easy peasy! Anyways I got to the traditional endpoint of the game, where by long and sacred tradition you can’t go through the final door of the final level because you missed an alien cowering I the dark 6 rooms and three miles ago. So, once again, an exact replica of the PC experience! 5 stars.

Best iOS game I ever downloaded.. I paid for this game before COVID… and here we are April 2023 and this is hand down still best best iOS game I’ve ever played. If you ask me it’s better than on Xbox and pc. Call me crazy, but it feel perfect on my phone. Yo be fair I didn’t play the second one yet… but I liked this one more anyway. So, if you’ve never played this game or thought about getting it. Do yourself a favor… I don’t even write reviews, but after picking it back up… It’s just as tight as the first time I played it. Im buying the second one just to support them for doing such a good job on this one.

Runs smoothly and plays well!. I’m frankly shocked that this game runs so well on my iPad Air 2 while still looking rather good. Of course, closeups and certain visual flairs reveal how downgraded the graphics had to be in order get a high level of performance, but so far the trade offs seem well thought out. Controls are good with movements and abilities requiring a separate button to confirm the decision (no accidentally sending a soldier out to die or wasting a headshot because of touch controls). The soundtrack fails to disappoint and customization options for soldiers while diminished due to graphics quality being lower are still available and fun to tinker with. It’s the whole game for your tablet! Xcom 2 had some cool quality of life features, but don’t let the existence of a sequel dissuade you from giving the first title a shot. It’s super fun.

Please add control capability. There is not a doubt in my mind this an awesome game/series. On that end, I have no complaints. But it seems like there’s a total disregard for how technical this game is. This game being played strictly touch screen requires insane patience. You’re going to be spending a lot of time just correcting and adjusting. So sadly I don’t play this game currently. Please make this game controller compatible if you’re going to continue to sell it. The game is pricey enough so there’s not many excuses you have to make that adjustment. And if you don’t, you’re just gonna keep getting many complaints along the same category/ regrets in buying game. Please please please make this update and I’ll happily change my rating.

Nicely done!. When I first played this game on the PC, I thought this would make an awesome Mobile game because all you are doing is just clicking. That is what lead me to this game, and what an amazing job 2K and Firaxis did! It was an audacious step to bring Xcom back from the dead, and to me it paid off. The gameplay is streamlined and dynamic while still maintaining that feel that Xcom is supposed to give you. You always feel hopelessly outmatched, but it does it so that you still feel a sense of accomplishment even when retreating from a botched mission, and even more so in victory. Even in a game where there are no set characters the soldiers develop their own personality through the awesome gameplay. Even the sky ranger developed its own feel to me. However Where this game excels is in the gameplay, and although there are a few bugs here and there, they have mostly been addressed. To the developers I say well done and thanks for having the courage to market a turn based strategy to our FPS generation, but you better not slouch on Xcom 2!

Keeps closing. I never write complaints on these ever, only reason why i am right now is because i want a quick fix soon. I love XCOM EW its my favorite game of all time that ive ever played on PS3. I have always wanted a port to a PS Vita but got mega excited about the iOS port. I downloaded yesterday and turned on, got super excited and after i try to start single player, it immediately for e closed in the loading screen. I had all my other apps closed and it did it so i just restarted it, and tried again, same thing. I uninstalled and reinstalled and same thing again. I am using an iPod Touch 5th Generation with iOS 8s latest update. It says on the compatibility that itll run on iPod Touch. It runs yeah but doesnt play. Im probably gonna have to pick up the PS3 version again and hope for a PS Vita port and im really looking forward for an update to fix the use on iPod Touch 5th generation. I really really love XCOM this doesnt ruin my love for this game but it really got me worried about downloading new games

I have loved the X-Com games since the 90s. This game is great. Game system quality and I bought it even though I own it on Xbox and pc. I should have reviewed this long ago but I just don’t review things enough. The one problem I have is I can’t play the game and listen to my podcasts. I know you haven’t done any updates in forever but if you could fix that one thing it would get me to play it more. I like to learn and laugh when I play games. I can’t imagine it would be s hard thing to fix. However that is the only problem I have. It’s just a big one because it keeps me from playing it. I love the game and I end up just playing dumb games because I can listen to stuff while playing them. I know I’m just one person asking for this fix but I myself have payed so much for these games over the years. I think I’ve owned every version of X-Com made. Some I’ve owned more than one copy of. TFTD twice, Apocalypse twice, and enemy unknown for three different systems. Anyone who likes these new ones should go check out the old ones. The graphics aren’t so great but the games are awesome. Anyway thank you for the great games. I’m playing X-Com 2 on PS4 now. Keep up the good work and keep’em coming. Maybe make one more like the old school ones with a whole bunch of solders and time units. Just make it look pretty but other than that just like the old ones. Please. Anyway thanks again.

Awful app. The game is amazing and if you like turn based strategy buy this game on PC. However this is one of the worst ports I've ever seen, the worst being the original xcom app that was so bad they removed it from the App Store. This app is incredibly buggy freezing on a drop of a hat for extended periods, text dialogue that usually appears at starts of missions stays on your screen unchanging for the entire mission. I had to skip the tutorial because after every cut scene or voice dialog the game takes five minutes to catch up before running again. Also I've turned off all sound but sound still plays at full volume on cut scenes like the drop ship taking off/landing or story cut scenes. And so help you if you try listening to anything while playing this game as every little action will cause this game to pause your music, even if all volume sliders are turned off. The studio that ported this game was just looking for a paycheck, they got there money and pumped out this lazy port with basic touch controls, no testing, and no respect for the xcom franchise

Great game but some issues. A decent port of an excellent game. Pros- 1.runs quite well on my device (iPad Air) 2.decent graphics for an iOS game 3.gameplay almost identical to the PC or PS3 ports 4.awesome game if you like tactical turn based shooters Cons- 1.semi-frequent game breaking bugs for example at the end of a mission 1 alien can be stuck in some corner that requires a 10 minute search to finally kill, or when launching satellites in response to a request the satellite doesn't actually get placed over the country yet takes your satellite uplink capacity. 2.rare crashes 3.bad control scheme, even with the largest apple device I feel like I frequently tap one space but some adjacent space is registered Suggestions- Fix as many game breaking bugs as possible. Optimize the game more or decrease graphics quality. (No matter how "good" it looks it will never be as good as the PC port I would much rather have the graphics be sub par and have awesome frame-rates than have as many pixels be jammed onto my screen as is possible and get low/fluctuating fps) Overall I think it is a decent port of an awesome game that could use some bug fixes. It is nice for long car rides but I would still much rather play this on my PS3 or PC.

Same feel. The game has the same feel to the PC down to the shiv 's turning into soldier bug, decal reset on many soldiers bug, and even the backwards hand flip when selecting a weapon for the soldier bug. Everything gameplay-wise is there, it even has the main story from the previous one. But you might be asking, this file size is smaller then the PC version. Well, the things removed are: many duplicated cutscene of alien autopsys and alien interigations of individual aliens has been removed, as for the textures that gave it a high detail shine(agreeable from portable playing). Another thing removed is alien encounters on the field. Many pc players would know of this one, where if you encouter an alien, say the sectopod, It would play a cutscene of you encoutering it ingame. Not bash worthy, and totally understand that scripting can cost some frame rate issues. Last is some missions are missing. I dont know if anyone else has seen these council missions where saving a president or diplomat is still in the game but with these missing missions means missing maps to conquer. However, with the enemy within comes a whole lot more maps. Other then that the game plays the same as the pc with an OBVIOUS porting for phones. Would get if you have money to burn as its not like these pay2win games... Full game outta the box. But if you dont agree to the downsizing. Would wait for a discount to appear as either way the game is worth the boredom of phone games.

Fun mobile x com but bad controls. I get it’s a phone game but still the controls aren’t the best they don’t really respond or work just right as intended I try and click on a stair case to select upstairs and my character goes to a different location down stairs I try and climb a pip to get on the roof and just walk up to the pip I eventually get what was wrong I needed to click the camera thing and move it up but that’s a small hassle and also buggy along with if I’m moving farther Spaces in the yellow it sometimes jumps me to a different character and doesn’t let me move so yeah but still worth 5$ if your a big x com fan who wants to play it on the move mobile but also as a fan who’s used to better controls on either PC or console especially console just cause that’s what I played it originally on so I was used to that way of playing it feels off and bad but still happy I bought it but that’s why it’s so low rated 3* but could have been higher on console I gave it a 5* and it’s probably best on pc :)

Too easy or too hard. Normal difficulty is too easy and I get bored one hitting everything to death. Put it on classic and it just becomes frustrating. The aliens can critically hit you from any angle and any distance while you, with a 98% hit expectancy miss every time. I cannot level up my characters because they die in one hit from across the map while in full cover! Too many video cut scenes. I want to play this game, not watch a plane fly back and fourth in three different cut scenes. Some cut scenes can be skipped while others cannot. I do not really care about getting saluted for giving a medal. Why can I not skip that cinematic?

Game crashes loading EVERY mission beginning and end!. I love XCOM, and I really enjoyed this port. However, every time I assemble my squad and try to start a mission, the game will crash. I will have to reload the game, then the save, several times before it'll work. I am on an iPad Air 2, so it doesn't make sense why it so frequently crashing out. Also, if I manage to get to the mission and beat it, once we go back to base it'll freeze up and crash again. This means I have to replay the mission with variance hoping it won't crash again. So, this is a problem for me. Other than that, I love this game. One of my favorites. I may just go back to playing it on the console if this keeps up without a resolution. now I am stuck at the same mission for weeks because every time I return to base it crashes. Fix it!

Has potential, but be prepared to loose everything....over and over and over. So at first I was very excited about this game, even though the tutorial left a lot to be desired regarding how to move, how to pick up things, how tough the aliens were, what to develop first versus last, and a whole bunch of other things. After playing the second time and investing a whole bunch of time, I had my entire crew wiped out in 15 minutes at the fishing village. Two enhanced heavy combat mecs, a sniper and two other support. I can see losing one or two guys, but to have your entire crew wiped out by insurmountable odds, and creatures that are way tougher than they should (zombies kill you in one hit, crustaceans spider bug thingys impervious to fire and mini cannons) who’d a thought? I don’t know about you, but if I invest 20 hours into a game only to lose all those guys, with their mods, in 15 minutes, I’m not so motivated to keep playing. If you have a life and just want to enjoy a game that you can play, learn, lose a battle and then come back to....then don’t pick this game because you will lose ALL of your hard earned progress in 15 minutes....irrevocably. Poof!! Gone!! Finished! That’s one DEAD parrot! Lol now if they ad a save feature and afford you the ability to refight a battle....then I’m back in....but until then....I’ll pass.

One of the best turned based games period. Pros: •Great combat that never lets you feel too powerful. Even when you’re late in the game and feel like you’ve “got it” there’s always something that can, and does, happen to fix that feeling. Whether it’s a surprise enemy you ran into that’s in overwatch that you didn’t expect or your soldier missed a critical shot, you can expect the game to be unrelentingly smart about causing you problems. •Permadeath. Pretty much if someone dies they’re gone for good. You always have the fear of losing your best soldiers; who have sortied over 15 times with 50 kills that turn missions into your favor when they deploy EVERY time you send them out into harms way. That is real fear so easily built into this game. Those are the two main pros for me about this. Cons: •Glitches, ever so minor. Basically things like changing height differences with the camera to get a better view of things causes issues where you want to see the roof of a building but the game shows you the interior instead. Or when you want to see if your character can climb a drain pipe and move to cover with a single action point but the camera only shows you their path inside the building again. Even with that it’s just so minor it does make the game any less great TLDR: download it if you enjoy turn based permadeath games that never stop being challenging but never stop being satisfying at the same time.

Tutorial is infuriatingly slow. I've played XCOM: Enemy Unknown on a different platform and am generally familiar with the game mechanics, but decided to enable the tutorial in this game just to be sure I don't miss anything. Turns out, there is NO way to skip the tutorial messages and advance to the next prompted action (move a soldier, promote a soldier, etc). Instead, you are forced to read the message from Central until the game decides enough time has passed for you to be allowed to perform literally any action. There is also no way to set tutorial message speed. I'm playing on an iPad Air 2 and other than this ridiculous oversight/bug the game looks great. If this behavior is not limited to the tutorial and I have to wait a minute-plus for this game to process my turns while I'm trying to play actual missions, this game is basically unplayable.

Great Mobile Port. I am a huge fan of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and its expansion, Enemy Within, on the PC. When I saw a mobile version for my iPhone 6, I had to give it a shot, especially for $10. While they did have to cut a few of the features due to hardware and storage limitations, the tactical and base building areas of the game are pretty close to the original. Most of the cuts they made were to soldier customization, tactical cinematics, fewer maps(I think), etc. The core game and the majority of its features are still there and, more importantly, they're fun. I was very surprised how well it runs on my iPhone 6. Load times are very short and the interface is very well done for a touch screen game that has this much depth. Despite my large fingers, I'm able to run through missions without any mistakes caused by the UI. If you enjoyed the new XCOM games, you will more than likely have a lot of fun with the mobile version that you can play anywhere and fits in your pocket.

Best game in App Store. Update: any problems people have with crashing I suspect is due to user error or device error. This game is legit and the best of its kind by far. The different ways to level up your base and troops really engrossing, and allows replayability that feels new and different. I still can't believe it's an iOS game. I have played countless games on my iPhones and iPad over the years, and this is hands-down the best game I've ever played. It is a console/pc game ported perfectly to iOS. Truly engaging, challenging, and fun. Can't believe it's on a handheld device. Standing O to the devs on this one! 5 stars? Nope...10!! Get. This. Game.

A Tactical Masterpiece. The XCOM series has been a favorite of mine when it comes to tactical, turn-based combat. When I purchased this on mobile, I was afraid of the controls being awful or the graphics to look way too outdated. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the controls. Although the swiping camera controls can be difficult at times, using the buttons works great for me. The game feels good to play, and rewards strategical thinking. Not only is there turn-based combat, but also base building and resource management. The choice is entirely up to you: to spend your resources on a newer, better weapon, or to spend them on creating MECs or super soldiers. This game is amazing, even on mobile, and will continue to be one of my favorites.

Tactical, intense, alien-fighting fun. This game is my introduction to the XCOM universe. I'm very impressed with the look and sound of it, and the depth of it overall. The controls are a little confusing at times, especially in tutorial mode where the happy path is not always obvious on a "tiny" screen like the iPhone 5s's. But they could be worse. The game itself, especially the story, is INTENSE. I've already lost one game, and geez, talk about the agony of defeat. Soldier after soldier biting the dust. Then the grand finale in the situation room… as it slowly shuts down, the body language of the section chiefs gathered there is just heartbreaking—the numbness from defeat, the dread of what the future holds. Holy moly. What are you trying to do, game, make me kill myself? 😊 But I'm going in for another try! That's how good this is.

64-bit version? (Edited 64 bit support is coming). There is nothing within the app description about whether this app will be updated to run on 64-bit devices. I looked on the 2K website and forum and couldn't find any info. If not, this game will be abandonware and everyone who updates their iDevice to the next major iOS firmware update will no longer be able to play this game. Giving the app 3 stars. Will raise to 5 if the app gets 64 bit support. Will lower to 1 star if it doesn't. Edit: just found out that 64 bit support is coming. Changed rating to 5 stars. I can now wholeheartedly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys strategy games. Particularly turn-based tactical squad games. So when is XCOM 2 WoTC coming to iOS 😋

Helping the undecided =DECIDE!. --Never crashed or glitched Once! --I have a iPad air2 and I use my wife's newer iPad Mini..same thing= zero issues! ---verdict- the older you're iPad,iPhone,iPod is = the more issues you'll encounter. Just like pic gaming.. ---so with that being said I'll get down to the tablet version of this review. ---I never finished this game or the previous com because it always got boring. But this game is like the prototype perfect game for a tablet because it's a turn based game and there's no rush to do anything. So tablet works better then console imho.. --Graphic The best I've seen so far but as great as the iPad Air 2 is I'm yet to be impressed or blown away I've only bought this, motor and Sid Meir starships and Xoom blows them away. But I'm barely impressed. Tablet isn't a replacement for PC or console. -in my case when I'm away from those..I suspect that applies to all... This game was a lot of fun and found myself sitting playing it long after I shoulda left work or. Wherever... The best way to play com.. Wait for a sale like indie.

4000 BC. Ladies and gents. This is the best app out of the best apps you could ever find. I've played Xcom ever since the original game came out in 4000 BC. I'm of course not saying I'm that old. What I'm saying is that much like the great pyramids of Egypt, nothing can match its splendor. Xcom is one of the great wonders of the world. It was amazing then and it is amazing now. Right now! You complain that the controls are weird? What!? Get some better fingers people. The controls in the game are the best you can get from a mobile device machine. This takes some major strategy, some major brain usage. I suggest playing the game on CLASSIC and IRONMAN. The frustration might run slightly high when one of your faves die, but when you conquer the onslaught of alien beauties the feeling of success is like that of taking a shower for the first time after a month long hike through the hot rainforests of South America... I... I've never been... I mean I take showers... I'm just talking about the rainforests... the... you know what I mean!.. Why are you reading this!? Buy the game! What!? It's not free you say!? So what! You were gonna make in game purchases with whatever free game you were thinking about playing anyway! Buy it now and you will be on the golden road to bliss. XOXO, The Aliens

Great game, better app. I was originally very disappointed by this game. The graphics were sad, the loading times were long, and it was missing some features I wanted to see. However, I recently redownloaded it and am blown away. Both on my iphone 7+ and my 2017 ipad pro (12.9) it runs VERY well. I cannot believe how quick the load times are. Also, there are some features present that I don’t remember them having, like armor tint. I am very happy with it. One thing I would like a lot is if they would incorporate keyboard support. Being able to map hotkeys for overwatch and use WASD to move the map around would be huge, as well as a keyboard interface for troop selection and things like that. I enjoy the game but being able to use my keyboard would make this just phenomenal. I understand that is unlikely but it would be nice and I would really appreciate it as a feature.

A Favorite. Easily one of my favorite games, and I don't just mean favorite mobile games. This is a fantastic strategy game. I've enjoyed the franchise on PC for years. The port to mobile is excellent. I prefer it on iPad, but it works surprisingly well on iPhone as well. The strategy involved is entertaining and challenging. Each successful mission feels like an accomplishment. Hours of gameplay for a single run through the missions and great replayability. Can be played in short blocks or long session. I can't say enough good things about this game. The price point is actually quite good as you get the full game that sells on PC for more than twice the cost and no in app purchases or pay to win tactics that usually plague mobile games.

You’re looking for XCOM. ⬇️. Game runs well. 2024 running a iPhone 11 Pro iOS 17.3. The only reason the star is missing is because the sound effect of the fire I think bugs the game where it can have a static sound and person in XCOM I like the footstep aspect and the subtle sounds to let you know a character could be close but it doesn’t ruin the game you can play with music in the background if you’d like. All the basics of XCOM are there plus some extras. XCOM2s story is better but for $4.99 on the App Store you’ll be able to get your bang for your Buck. - Minor Bug List • Static on Levels with Fire • Grapple On Top of White Moving Van with Maxed Sniper w/ double Tap, next move Shoot Once, any monster that tries to intimidate you you after your shoot it and don’t kill it locks your second action, have to reload game.

Good but controls worse than previous xcom IOS. In general this is a solid game, and I love the extra features from Enemy Within. However, they seem to have made a control change from Enemy Unknown to this one where clicking on an existing selection(where to move or fire a rocket) is counted as accepting that. In the previous version you had to manually select the appropriate confirm/move button. This is a problem because(understandably) the touch controls have some difficulty selecting the appropriate spot. You can eventually get to the correct spot... unless the game has taken one of your clicks as confirmation. This is bad enough if you do not move to cover, worse if you fire a rocket at your team. The game should go back to the selection process of the previous IOS game, where you had to hit a specific confirmation button.

Best app out there. I'll be forthcoming, I'm biased. I've been a fan of the XCOM franchise since I played the original on the PC. That said, this really is a great game. So much that I've not only purchased it on the Xbox 360 (both versions), but also on my kindle and now my iPhone. In an age where nearly every app out there, let alone "strategy" selections, are littered with in-app purchases it's refreshing to pay the one time charge and just enjoy myself. I don't even feel angry that I've bought this game 4 times over now, I'm happy my contributions have helped bring about XCOM 2. Now it's time to get a PC capable of playing it.

Worth more than $10. I don’t leave reviews unless I’m p*ssed so that makes this mean that much more. This is by far the best and most played game I’ve ever purchased. I was weary about spending $10 since I try to keep my gaming budget on the cheap but after knowing the gameplay, this game is well worth more than $10. There are several new missions that are not in the original computer, or Xbox games, with new enemies. The difficulty of the battles only makes me want to beat it more. The graphics are beautiful in how they go into detail of each turn. The catchphrases of the soldiers are awesome and hilarious. This game will take days to complete even if you were playing non-stop, there is so much gameplay. Please 2K, make more games with this strategy, it is truly the best. I would gladly pay more money for more games like this, where is the donation link??

Love the game, hate the bug. iPhone 5S. Awesome game. Played it through without any major bug issues. After beating the single-player mode, I started on multiplayer. Very cool feature. I was going along fine for a few games, then suddenly hit an error message in the middle of several games. I can still log in and see the games I have in progress, but tapping on any game just gives me the same error message: "Connection failed. Please retry later." It's been this way for several days. So frustrating! I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it didn't change a thing. I have no idea what to do. Given what I payed for this game (and for its predecessor), I'd like it to keep working!

Top 5. The only thing I want that isn't already a part of this ludicrously amazing game, is for there to be the sound of splashing when units move through water. I'm sure I could nit-pick and find a few more. Yes, it crashes occasionally. Yes, the camera angle can affect how easily you direct movement of troops, but you can change the perspective, so that is a minor annoyance. Some of the multitude of reasons these small trifles do not detract from this gem are: strategy in a myriad of facets of the game, fantastic graphics, and the replay factor is unparalleled. Engrossing, and easily one of the best ports to iOS I have ever played.

Man this game is fantastic. Alright let’s talk about XCOM and for the hate that this game got first of all it has been updated so ignore the reviews that where there 3 years ago second if you have an old device sorry but you have to update your device anyways and yes this game in my opinion is worth the money especially if you don’t have a pc. The game is hard so don’t get frustrated with it just take your time I’ve been playing it for about a year and still haven’t beaten it also it gives you the entire game and it’s expansion the pc version does not do this they just give you the game plus 12 or 15 dollars is pretty cheap for a 40-60 hour game Ps (I am not paid to write this review)

Unplayable. I played X-Com EU with crashes every time I loaded and finished a mission along with constant reboots and headaches. When I got to the end of that game my guys got stuck in a door way, gg. I had seen X-Com EW played on PC so I knew what I was buying into. Little did I know it was even worse than EU. I spent hours just trying to start the first mission and now the game crashes every time I try to return to base. I look back at the app I had just wasted my money on and see that it is only compatible with about 3 or 4 devices, my IPad mini not being among them. I guess I should have known based on my experience from the first game but I've been swindled again. Seriously? Please somebody fix this, I would love to play this amazing game. Even a little bit of a heads up would have been nice or better yet not being able to buy a game that can't be played on a certain device. Beware buyer that this game is filled with crashes that stop the game right after one mission. If the game does work on any device than it would be one of the best games available on the App Store.

Excellent port of an excellent PC game. My title says it all. I have loved the X-Com games for years and being able to play on something like an iPad is awesome. I play on an iPad Air 2 and it runs great. The game is exactly like the PC game; I have really noticed nothing changed or different. The change in controls to accommodate tapping on an iPad works very well. My only complaint is how the game chews up battery power. I simply play with it plugged in. For me , this is not even enough to take away one star. This game rocks and I highly recommend it, especially if you are a fan of this series and like iPads.

Good Game. Although buying the game like an idiot on an iPod this game, from what I've played, is quite similar to the full one on PC or console. It has the features and options of the game but I can't quite understand why it doesn't work for iPods and earlier devices. Its general gameplay is actually fantastic still with one or two lag spikes seen throughout a whole mission even on the early devices. To Some this may seem like a lot but for a slow moving convoy-style player with heavy defense I say this is really good. Also, from my time with mobile games Firaxis really made the graphics high-end compared to most games. Overall, they did amazingly from what I've been able to play.

Terrible game if you hate losing. Always.. It started off so well. I’m a huge fan of the concept of this game (maybe). Building facilities, upgrading soldiers, turn-based tactical strategy... yes, please. Missing three shots in a row with 80% chance to hit, then having my top ranked soldier get killed in the first enemy attack in two hits on easy mode... no, thank you. There is way too much prep time involved in this game to lose so easily. Maybe I just don’t like this TYPE of game. I think I like the idea of perma-death and the strategy and immersion it provides, but that’s the problem with this game, you invest a LOT and play very cautiously to AVOID having your best soldier killed only to have bad luck (or bad design) cause you to lose so easily. Sure, you can save your game anytime, but that seems like a poor game mechanic and misses the point anyway.

All 5 Stars (EXPLAINED). 1. Going into this game as my first XCOM purchase I was skeptical because of the price of the game. The first star is awarded because of the good tutorials and overall help of the game. 2. While I believe this game may be toned a bit from the original which I understand the second star is awarded for the unlimited amount of content this game offers and will never get boring 3. The third star I believe which is an expectation of any game is the smooth play that it offers. I play from an iPhone 7 and have never experienced so much as a frame skip. 4. On top of all this there is a multiplayer system which is fun as hell and adds to the overall quality of the game. 5. While most people would've stopped at 4 I will not rob this game of it's justice. It has prompted me to buy XCOM 2 on steam for $60. While there is nothing worse than losing a major in battle this is probably the most entertaining game on the App Store. I highly recommend this for anybody. I am not even into strategy games. This is my first XCOM but will certainly not be my last. Thank you for taking the time to read my review.

Xcom EW Without a usable camera. I am an avid fan of the XCOM games. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single game (Yes, even Terror from the Deep) in the series, and XCOM: EW is certainly no different. I have 1000+ hrs on the PC version, and have beaten Ironman Impossible Long War. As you can tell, I am somewhat obsessed with this game. I bought this so I can play a bit of XCOM when not at home, and it is a very good port of the PC edition. The only issue I have found is the terrible camera and it's broken auto-adjust (ex: when I want to go up a ladder, and the camera, even when I go up a floor, still thinks I'm trying to jump through a window to get inside). I don't like that you can't zoom in. Other than that, it is a solid port of a game everybody should play, and is definitely worth a buy. 9/10.

Phenomenally immersive quality. Graphics and gameplay on iPad 2 retina are perfect. I've now finished this game twice. It's repayable. It's difficult and immersive. I hope more developers produce games like this. I find myself looking for new ones every week or so, but nothing compares to this game.

Great game. Better than the original and I loved the original

Not learning from previous mistakes. You'd think that releasing a game (xcom: enemy unknown) with such TERRIBLE instability would make it critical to improve experience the next release. Alas, after crashing 3 times BEFORE the game has even started, then again after the first and only mission, it's clear that the developers care more about getting your money than about the product. Just a horrible experience all round.

Not Working. Have iOS 11.0.2 with an iPhone 8 plus... doesn’t work, gets to menu screen then can’t do anything, clicking on any of the menu items doesn’t work just unresponsive with the music.. can this get fixed ASAP...

Love the game, but a glitch make it crash. I'm currently on another play though and have encountered a glitch that causes it to crash back to the home screen, otherwise a perfect game, hopefully the next iOS 10 update will fix

Brilliant. Even after years on iOS, it's still one of the most engaging and replayable tactical games on the platform.

Soooooo much better that Enemy Unknown. Got Enemy Unknown first. Was extremely basic. This one is fantastic! Love it. So much more things to do.

Rock solid iOS implementation. I’ve never had a problem with it, and it’s as playable as my PC version. The ability to alter seed values, etc, means you can play over & over, great value for money. I’m addicted again. Remember, those who dash, die ☠️, those 👽 are unforgiving.

Awesome game. Love this game so much ... brings back memories from the old days of UFO ... easily the best game on iPad and looks good on the iPad Pro 12.9 ... can be a bit buggy and would be good if they updated it but overall a great game ... hopefully they bring out xcom 2 on the iPad

Please fix the bugs. This is a great game and was working just fine, but recently I've been having issues with the sound, which stops working properly after the first mission following loading, voice over goes as well as button sounds. Please fix. There's issues with the return to base sequence as well, never runs smoothly. Expect better on an iPhone 6+, particularly when it worked previously.

Still going strong. XCOM EW still works well on my iPhone 14 and my M2 iPad. Even after all this time it is still one of the best games on the platform

Little sad. Either though I have enough storage to download it won’t let me any tips to fix it

Unbelievably good!!!. I loved this game sooooo much, it was an amazing discovery type of game yet balanced out well with sci-fi, action and adventure. I reeeeaaaaalllly want Xcom2 to come out on IOS it would be a great deal to lots of people. Keep up the good work (by bringing Xcom2 to IOS).

Amazing. Incredibly interesting game in all areas. Great story, interesting tactics. However when doing the psi testing towards the end of the game, the whole game crashes and I can't keep playing. Please fix!

Good game. This game is so cool. Graphics are great. The features of this game is good. If only Mods can allow in this game where we can use different weapons and outfits. But anyways this game is good. Hope there will be another XCOM game on ios.

Update. Please update to get full screen and long war expansion option.

Best game ever. Once you finish normal gameplay, go play multiplayer it will test your skills. Hopefully Xcom 2 will come to iOS.

Plz another game like xcom 2. Please make a Xcom 2 this game is great I think the price should be lowered a little but the rest is great the only problem is you don’t know what to do once the story is finished oh and some bug fixes like I lost a mech to a floor when he walked on it

Bugs kill this game. Playing with an IPad Air - so you expect this game to work right? Wrong! Seems every second mission stops play dead with an in-mission glitch that requires cancelling the mission and starting again. What's the point of playing if you have to play every mission several times?

Great game. Amazing game, needs to be updated for newer devices tho. Also waiting on xcom2 to come to iOS

Totally addicted. This game beats all the others games that I've ever played I love the story line of this game and how I am able to choose the gear that I want to equip on my soldiers plus the graphics are cutting edge.. I could just go on and on I love every thing about this game except one thing developers please make more games coming And please make them available for Australian citizens. For you guys that read reviews I totally Recommend you purchase this app if you like shoot em up games as much as I do because I'm hooked on (xcom enemy within) and also if the developers bring another game/App like this out that would be so awesome

this game is fantastic !!. keeps crashing in my ipad mini retina 2. downgrading to 1 start, avoid the game at the moment its very unstable. Word of advise this game contains the dlc called enemy withing. In many aspects is the same game however there is a lot more content tah the original game. More enemies more upgrades to the soldiers, this is great. If you love xcom get this one , its awesome.

Great. Very fun game. As soon as I saw the price dropped I bought it instantly, the previous price was a bit high

Better on iPad Pro than PC. Better experience on iPad Pro than pc. Amazing. Also 2.99mwas a great price

Works well... Kinda. I'm impressed, bang up job, runs really well on iphone 5 iOS 7.1 BUT they didn't put a button to leave character customisation in the barracks.

Constant crashes. Game doesn't work on iPad mini. Just keeps crashing. I bought iPad Pro .. game now loads but when in combat you just get stuck with not being able to change soldiers or make an action. Clicked on anything / everything and can't seem to be able to proceed. Very very disappointing .. looks like it might be a good game if it actually worked.

Best game. This game is soooo flippen good and I don't know what everyone else is talking about with the bugs and the crashes because I experienced none. U should get this game.

Excellent game-still deserves 1 star. I can't believe I paid my money just so you guys can advertise some more. The game is AMAZING but the ads ruin it. There aren't many but there shouldn't be ANY for a paid app, albeit a very expensive one at that. Will remain 1 star until you remove ads. Will give it 5 stars when it deserves it.

Buggy, dead product with no development or support. Do not waste your money buying this game. To sell a game and provide no response to your customers is unacceptable. This game has dealbreaking bugs in multiplayer, but you’ve done nothing about any of them.

Worth the money. Very good game. Great graphics and decent game mechanics. Fairly addictive. Still have a bit of glitches here and there...one time, game crashes and I wasn't able to reboot it. But overall, of glitches fixed...happy to have it on my IPhone.

excellent game. I think this is the best strategy game I have so far in a mobile device, Really wish to have XCOM 2 on the iOS as well. Because I rather play it on Portable device on my way to work than turn on the console at home.

Good but there are still bugs. Great game, great add-ons to Enemy Unknown but there is a massive bug that renders the main story unplayable. I capture the Outsider, get the cutscene with Dr Vahlen and Dr Shen talking about researching it but I get no option to research to Outsider Shard or manufacture the Skeleton Key. It worked fine before so I don't know what happened to make this unplayable in the current update.

No "restart mission"?. This is a great conversion of a great PC game. It is fast, the graphics and gameplay are perfect, and only rarely do I select the wrong unit or send them to the wrong square. However there is one critical function missing; "Restart Mission". This was implemented in the PC version and for some bizarre reason, despite the game autosaving at the beginning of each round, it *doesn't* automatically create a save for the beginning of each mission. Which means that if you want to restart the mission you better hope you remembered to make a manual save, or else restart wherever in the *last* mission you remembered to make a manual save. Please fix this!

So disappointed. The xcom series is one of my favourite for the iPad so it kills me that I have to write this review but it has crashed so many times in the same place and it's such a large game that I will have to delete it in the next week if an update isn't released to fix it. I'm running out of room for updates to normal small apps cos this game is so huge. Very hard to justify keeping a broken game this large on my iPad. Before working on next product please fix this one or I will struggle to justify buying anything else from the xcom series. So much respect for the work you've done initially in making such a great game, just so disappointed that it hasn't been finished properly

Multiplayer crashes the game. It’s a great game for single player. Very cool! However. It’s getting annoying that the game keeps crashing when on multiplayer. Game says hasn’t had an update in 2 YEARS! Bit disappointed. Ah well. Good game and I hope it improves soon.

Last mission bug. Ridiculous game starts off one hit killing you, and if you stumble upon a path of progression, it gets super easy. Amazing to go through all that and get stuck at the very end because of a bug, well done.

Best iOS game I have played. Just like xcom games on the PC/console and the touch controls are great. Load times are great as well - especially after xcom2 on the PC which had loooooong load times.

One Small Issue. I love this game however I found one slight issue. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY SECTOPODS. I shot down a small UFO just after getting my final laser weapons, and there it was, 3 sectopods not even halfway through the game. But apart from that the game is good

Best strategy game eva. I love this game although it is better on the computer this is well worth the money if you cant get it on steam

Woozaa. Best game app. Although turn based the story and combat scenes add an extra dimension. Well worth the purchase. An expansion pack or two would be sweeeeeeeeet. Addicted to killling Aliens.

Not like the Consoles. This game has great graphics and audio sound track however it feels shorter as a lot of the content i.e. Just the abduction missions seems to have been culled to a minimum essentially making this game harder relative to its console and PC counterparts.

Just Great. If you have a bad old iPad, have fun getting this game to work. But if you are like me and have a good one, it may be a bit choppy sometimes but it's a great game. I just finished my first playthrough and it was truly amazing. It's just XCOM, it hits you in the back when you just don't want it to. Anyways it is great

Sigh. Great game, but wish I read the latest notes before buying. Clearly states that it won't work on iPad mini 1 so having to play on my iphone 5

SAVED!. Van not thank 2K enough for saving this bonafide classic for future iOS generations. The way this looks and runs on an iPad Pro is better than XCOM2 WOTC runs on a modern rig. This game was made for retina resolution and touch screen graphics. I have clocked 1400 XCOM 2 hours, and I am now rediscovering this one all over again. There’s just something magical marrying the XCOM gameplay with a touch UI. Just a perfect gaming experience.

Best game I have played on IPad. The game plays like a fully fledged PC game with graphics to match. I got so addicted I played to 4am one night. Just finished after hours and hours of gameplay and kinda sad it's over. For me there were no bugs at all, perfect smooth play. It's highly tactical so for some gamers it may be frustrating but I loved the challenge and when you get your soldiers levelled and equipped properly it's good to have some payback on E.T

Get XCom2 instead. Xcom1 needs an update badly to add full screen support for the newer phones. It also needs to make the game playable offline - it already is but without internet connection the menu buttons become very unresponsive or sluggish (such as when you load or save a game or when you start the app and wait for the “Resume Game” option to appear). It is clear that 2K has abandoned this game, so my recommendation is to not buy this game and instead get Xcom2 which was just released on mobile. Not only is the sequel a better game, but the port was done by Feral Interactive so you know the game will be supported much better.

An effort in frustration. It’s X-com enemy unknown, and then some... ...and that’s the problem. I played this game maybe a year or so after it’s original PC release and loved it (does get a little tedious late game if I remember...), but—beyond more fiddly and accident prone controls (with no way of “back stepping” outside of immediately closing the App.), the additional content added to this game (the genetic abilities, mechs... and I don’t remember the vanilla game having award medals either...) just serves to bloat what was perfectly lean before. Less is more. NOTE: 2/5 is pretty harsh but there are enough “5/5 needs improvement” (that it wont get) reviews that are inflating the score

Old time Gamer. Just some context from me before review: 50+ yo gamer - from Amiga 500 and games like D&D Pools of Radiance - then PlayStation Final Fantasy VII (still one of the best games I ever played) to Baldur’s Gate 3, Skyrim, Fallout 1-4 I mention RPGs because while this game is not really an rpg - it is a very good port of an excellent franchise XCOM. Turn based good strategic combat - realistically proportioned characters (not the silly ‘bobble-headed’ character sprites in about 80% of RPGs JRPGs these days. Serious story-driven narrative - you get invested in each of your troopers (which don’t have to die if you are careful and smart) One time payment - zero micropayment- no stupid flashy effects with damage in the thousands like most ‘kid’ games. Get this if you want a game that has consequences - has a nice somewhat serious tone and is rich in gear, research and building up your base without being stupidity bloated with GACHA BS (like 80% of the junk in App Store) Oh, and fyi - Raid Shadow Legends - is NOT an rpg in any sense of the word (keeps showing up when people search for RPGs)

Console Worthy Strategy Game. I first played XCOM on PlayStation, and was highly impressed by how little is lost in its journey to iPad, the full story is there, the graphics are amazing, only a few maps are missing but I can't recommend this game more highly, it is very unique and well suited to iPad 😍

Good but needs improvement. The main I didn't like is the fact that you cannot play as the aliens. If this could be rectified so when you selected new game it gave you the option to be the aliens or humans the objectives being the same an example of this is the aliens try to take over earth thus facing of with the humans and also the tea research should be in more depth as in to make the mechtoid you'd have to research the armour then the weapons how to augment the sectoids and the plasma cannon. Thus making the game harder and pleasing the diehard fans and getting a bigger revenue stream. Thank you for your time sincerely -Hamish

Xcom review. Amazingly well ported to mobile. My only struggle is camera control but otherwise game runs beautifully.

Is it compatible with IOS 13.x. I have written to support a few weeks ago with this question but no reply! I just want to make sure i can still play it if upgrading to 13.x I have to say that it is still buggy, although minor annoyances (e.g. shiv starts shooting blanks in the middle of gallop; MEC stopped being upgradable despite all the research done (fixed with a re-download of the game; and others...). It is still quoted today as one of the best strategy games for the iPad, despite its age. I love it for being able to play it with the need for internet. Hoping it will not go the way of my ever fav game “Lord of the Rings : Middle Earth Defence” by GLU.

Read the discription fools. So you freak out about the game being unplayable and don't read the technical specs. Dude really just read it before you buy anything

Update for iPhone X+. Update for iPhone X+ please XCOM 2 is too expensive

Doesn’t work on startup screen. Brutal. I’m on iPhone 8+. Just need my xcom fix. Gonna need to get my money back, I guess.

Love this game !. Loved playing this game on my computer and love playing it on my ipad. I have little issues placing my squad properly during fights but this is still a five stars to me. Hope you release Xcom 2 on IOS soon !!!

Baddest Assest. XCOM rules.

Awesome game worth the price. Thank you for the iPhone 6 updates. I like the shadows. I am thinking you can up the gfx even more or make it a user setting. Love to see atmospheric fx and better textures. Better freedom to rotate camera angles and pan tilt would also make my experience more enjoyable.

NO 64-BIT SUPPORT. This is an excellent port of an excellent game, but be aware that it is currently a 32-bit app and will stop working with iOS 11 unless the developer fixes it. This seems unlikely given that the app was last updated in 2014.

Can’t install on device with only 16GB of space. I’ve been trying to install this game on my iphone 6 for hours now. Deleted EVERYTHING I could, photos, ALL my apps . I’ve over 8GB of free space, yet this game won’t fit somehow. Too bad because I’ve it my PC and it’s an awesome game. Leaving a bad review because the app store display it require only 3.5GB of space.

Good game but bad compatibility. Plz add support to new iPhone XS Max and IPad Pro 2018

Please improve the graphics, I have an IPad Pro. Please improve the graphics, I have an IPad Pro. The graphic could be way better.

Unable to download. Team, I had to reinstall this great game but I keep getting unable to download message. Please fix and I will upgrade my rating.

Does not work. Cannot click on anything on title screen Newly purchased the game on an iPhone 8 Would appreciate an update or a refund

Manette Backbone non pris en charge. Manette de jeux Backbone non pris en charge. Bien dommage. Jouer à ce jeux avec écran tactile pas terrible.

Good but frustrating. Great game, but impossible to control elevation of certain abilities, which is very annoying, movement is a little finicky.

Great game 😅. Except the GOD DAMN CRYSILIDS, WHY MUST THEY EXIST

Great expansion. Not exactly new, more like an expansion to the original. Well worth the price, though. By far my favourite iOS game, and I like lots of different kinds of games. Super fun tactical game. iPad Air 2. Not a single crash. Not sure what people are on about. Trying to run fancy new games on older hardware, I expect. Edit: updated for iOS 11! So thankful that I get my favourite game back. Works fantastic on 12.9” iPad Pro. Unlike many games, the graphics are high Rez beautiful on big iPad. Buttery smooth, the best XCOM tablet experience yet.

Game flash quit. I am blocked at the end of one ufo mission. After killing the last enemy the game just flash quit and block me from continuing my progress.

Fix asap pls. I am stuck at the 2nd tutorial where the guy is on top of the roof. It wont let me do anything it just explains the use of each action. Also its hard moving the screen around and adjusting the view.

EXCELLENT !!!. The game is amazing. A lot of fun and very strategic. PLEASE make another one. Also please make “enemy unknown” available in Canada. I’d be happy to purchase it and support your game and it’s devs. Cheers.

A lot of fun!. I love it! It takes a short learning curve to get used to the controls but afterwards it’s very addictive!

Favorite iOS game of all time. XCom is my favourite iOS game of all time. Even years after it’s release I find myself still playing it through. The story line is awesome as are the graphics and gameplay. So many interesting layers to this game.

Need a code rebuild for ios11. No crash after playing a lot on my ipad air. With [quite dead] Age of Booty Tactics they are my fav. But what about continuous improvements e.g. IOS 9 build ?

Fun but one feature is annoying. Loved this game and have yet to play the sequel XCOM 2 but the only off putting thing is that my phone music can’t play over the app.

Thanks 2k!. Thanks for the 64bit update guys. Always been an x com fan and I’m glad you made it possible for me to continue enjoying Enemy Within.

Amazing game, but. Loving playing this classic on my iPad, can’t quite run the sequel, but happy to play the first one. I have run into a bug, however. The ‘revive’ skill doesn’t appear to work properly. Have confirmed on multiple save files, and after reinstalling the game. Option will not appear when nearby team mate is downed. Your soldier can be standing on top of the squad mate, and the option to revive or stabilize will not appear once the ‘revive’ skill has been unlocked.

Not suited for phone. I love the Xcom series on console and PC however I find the game doesn't translate well to the touch screen. To strategize well, you need to look around the map but with so many clickable characters on screen it's easy to make wrong selections and accidental moves that can cost you the game. If you can get past this frustration, it's a good game.

Perfect Adaption for IOS. The flawlessness with which it has been transposed is nothing short of remarkable. If you loved the console version, you will not be disappointed. The developers hit a home run with this adaptation.

Amazing game but. Please optimize this game for the iPhone XS Max screen, I love xcom and would like for it to look even better on my phone, that’s the reason for the 3 star otherwise I would give it 5

Still not working on iOS 11. I have the iPhone 8 plus and this is still stuck at the opening screen. The intro movie plays but your stuck after that. Please patch.

ios11 update! Thanks!! Awesome!!. Thanks

Amazing game got better. Such an epic game, easily the best game on iOS. It's good on an iPhone plus, but it's epic on an iPad. If you like turn-based strategy, this is it. No game has managed to surpass it, not even xcom 2. Also touch interface makes this game MUCH better than the pc version, at least on iPad.

Alien Extermination on the go!. Just like the earlier ported Xcom Enemy Unknown, the now ported Enemy Within is a faithful, and complete, port that is well worth your cash if you enjoy turn based strategy games. You get everything you would find in the PC Version of this title, save for a slight reduction in graphical quality. Pros: - Faithful Port. No pruned Major Features here! - Same Xcom Turn-Based Strategy Gameplay, but on the Go! - Early Access to several of the more "Amusing" (My opinion) or Tactically Interesting Second Wave Options. (Great for owners of the PC version of Xcom seeking an instantly customizable portable playing experience.) - Running on an IPhone 5, the game runs beautifully with very little lag and fairly quick loading times. Can only imagine newer devices would perform even better than it already does. - Despite reduced graphical quality, the graphics do seem to have been updated slightly between Enemy Unknown's iOS release and this titles release. Cons: - Camera and unit movement can occasionally result in unintended move or Area of effect Attack orders when attempting to pan the camera within a unit's Movement range. Swipe with care folks! - Customization got the short end of the stick. Most Armors only have one Alternate Appearance, and the Mec Suit's overall appearance does not noticeably change over variants (A Brand New Mec will look essentially the same as a Fully upgraded Mec). They did keep those rather dapper Fedora's in though! All in All, if you own Xcom, like Xcom, or want more turn based strategy on the go, this title won't steer you wrong. (As long as you make sure your chosen device is supported by the game of course!)

Excellent turn-based game!. Enjoying this game a lot.

Love the game, could be improved. The game is great for the iPad, tho there are some shadow glitches and I wish there are more ways to customize control. For example an option to disable the double tap to move. It’s really easy to misclick it

Where is XCOM 2. I downloaded this game recently and starting to play again, love every minute I spent on it. I played XCOM:EU and then XCOM:EW, they both excellent port from the pc version. Don’t listen to others I never have problem for the control although I never play XCOM on console or pc version. Fantastic game, when can we enjoy the XCOM 2? Can’t wait!

Great game by way too hard for casual play.. Super hard deeper into the game to the point of losing enjoyment.

What i think. Literally worse the console version for the year this was made, the AI is beyond terrible, soldier’s can’t aim or shoot anything pretty much, aliens hit all their targets I’ve noticed, controls are confusing the tutorial didn’t help much at all and this is just a worse version of an already terrible game great job for making trash.

Best game on IPhone. The title say it all. I own this game on Xbox 360, pc and IPhone.

All my progress got deleted by bug!. This game is very good, 5 star review for sure. Except I put about 30 or more hours into the game just for a bug to delete my progress. The story in the game is very linear and extremely boring to replay. Wish the game had multiple auto saves like the console version where it gives you an auto save at the start of every mission so you don’t have to Ironman if you don’t want to. Great game. Needs better auto save feature and bug fixes.

Need to go on earlier devices. You should make this game be able to run on earlier devices because I just got an iPad mini 1 and like it didn't work cause it's too old for it but I could get it on my phone but it ends up taking up 3.3 gbs out of 16 so that doesn't really work that well on my phone cause all my contacts and texts are on there and work that also takes up a bunch of space but otherwise it's a great game much more choice over enemy unknown with meld with the gene lab and the cybernetics lab

Amazing with minor flaws. My only real complaint is about the functionality when attempting to select or deploy assets to other levels. On an oftentimes complex map with areas reached by ramps, climbing, or jumpjets, with competing layers, it became a matter of trying to fight with the interface to get the correct location selected on the correct height before moving a soldier to that location. This was such a consistent problem on the iPhone11, despite the large screen size to work with, also the pinch and rotate commands often got confused. But mainly it’s the other issue that nagged my gameplay. Maybe if I was playing on a desktop these would not be issues at all. Otherwise this game outperforms while paying homage to its Xcom predecessors. The classic from the 90s, before they went underwater, is the best. This latest version does many things even better without dropping anything from the original style. Many ThanX for this wonder!

Game does not work. From the start you cannot select the barracks. If you skip tutorial, then you cannot move soldiers to elevated/high grounds... I was expecting something without IOS bugs, like the PC original, but is it is nothing like it! Refund please!

Unplayable. Bugs prevented me from completing the second mission.

iPad Pro 11in support please. Very good game, I just want iPad Pro 11in support :( worth buying either way though

Please update. Great game, enemy within. Please update Xcom Enemy Within.. this game storyline goes well with Xcom 2. Its really fun to play the both of them.

Unresolved game breaks prevent finishing game. Like other users who have commented, I couldn’t finish the game bacause of a known glitch. Tutorial stalled and could not be completed either - also noted on the web by many users. So I can’t recommend. Too bad, as it’s a lot of game for the money, if it would actually work. Generally good design, although camera views and verticality are poorly executed.

Good gameplay and has the right XCOM feel to it. I’ve got about 3 hours of gameplay on this game and I can tell you it’s really fun and strongly recommend it to anyone who likes turn based strategy game, the only reason I only put 4 stars is that it doesn’t feel like real XCOM graphics, I mean for a phone it’s alright but for XCOM it’s not so good

Best game ever!!!. Best strategy game!

Superb game with annoying bug. I’ve been a big fan of the franchise from Day 1. One thing that hasn’t changed is that bugs are included in the purchase price. I haven’t been able to access the Barracks (screen goes black after clicking on the button and no way to get out) ever since I got the Gollop Chamber. Tried hard to work with support by sending crash logs etc, got some very nicely worded messages back to sooth my troubled mind, but zero solution. With this bug it’s impossible to finish the game. Any ideas are appreciated, the support surely don’t have a clue.

No crashes guys.. Why do you people think that a port of an advanced graphics to this point will run on your outdated phones/iPads? I downloaded it on my iPad, crashed every time of course. Than I got it on my new iPad Air 2, after which it ran fine. Guys, it's crashing cuz you have an old phone! Why would you expect this to work? Great game, hardly a step down from the console. A little small of a screen on phones but you can't do anything about that of course. 9/10.

Some bugs and graphical issues. 28th Feb 2020 iPad Pro 3rd gen iOS 12.4.1 Still works great for a game that hasn’t seen any updates for over two years. However it seems to suffer from some graphical issues, nothing major and doesn’t really interfere with gameplay so can over look it. I’ve put a lot of hours into this game, so def got my monies worth. However I just experienced my first major issue in years. I was at mission control, counting away the days to progress the game and it crashes back to the home screen. No way to get around it. Months of game play lost (playing second wave). Had to start again, so that was a bummer. Not sure what this game will run like on iOS 13, hopefully it gets updated for fix these small bugs others have been mentioning in the reviews.

Faithful to the PC Version, however.... I love the PC version, and have logged 200+ hours, and as much as this stays true to the original, I find it hard to recommend. The game looks great, and the controls make sense, however the camera controls, at least on the iPhone 5, are very sluggish and non responsive, and can easily lead to mis-clicks. This can be fatal if you are playing on ironman, and otherwise leads to irritating reloads. Might be better on an iPad, but if you are planning on playing this on your phone, you might want to stay clear.

No Longer iOS Compatible. The game no longer works with current iOS and the developers no longer support the product. The developers are aware of the issue but is predatorily maintaining the game in the App Store. Read other one star reviews within 1 year of this one. The game bugs out at the first mission away from the base. You will lose your money if you buy this game. Instead, consider going for XCOM 2; the port is done by a different developer that still supports it and that has a number of superb ports to iOS. As always, however, be sure to always review recent one star reviews to see if any given game is still functional and/or supported.

I hit 2 bugs that ruined single player. I love strategy games and this game is a great one but the developers let a lot of bugs get through. The first time I tried to Play single player the game bugged out on one of my turns and wouldn't let me move, shoot, throw a grenade or skip my turn, some of the buttons like cancel didn't do anything. I started a new single player and got to the first diffuse bomb level - while looking for the last bad guy I got stuck behind a building with all 3 of my squad members, it let me drop down off of a building but not get back up to kill the last enemy. My only options was to abort the mission, failing all my hard work and killing the last 3 squad members. Such a horrible bug

Unable to play, nor rate so far. I know for a fact that this is a great game, having played Enemy Unknown on Steam. That being said, I cannot say that I have even played it on my iPad Mini. I have successfully watched the 5 plus minutes of intro, tapping frantically to skip the graphics (which do look very pretty). I opted out of the tutorial, a wise move in the end that allowed me the privilege of picking a base! Once I finished my brief happy dance, I proceeded to the loading screen for the first mission. This screen always took a while on my Mac and I expected it, but unlike the pleasant end of my anticipation I was accustomed to I am treated to a crash. I have tried several times to run the application and have gotten no further than the previous attempts. Developers: Justify your overly lengthy intro video by finishing what you started. These are not "minor bugs" as you claimed to remedy in your last update. I am thus far disappointed in my purchase. Buyers: Do not purchase this game until it has been properly repaired. Enough said.

Best Game on the App Store Hands Down. XCOM is one of my favorite PC games of all time and this port absolutely does it justice. The touch controls are perfect (if a little uncooperative at times) for the game's turn based mechanics. Everything, excluding a few autopsy cutscenes and lower resolution textures, is in the game and long-time fans will feel right at home. There are a few visual bugs here and there, but nothing too intrusive or unbearable. It runs great on my iPhone 6 and I definitely recommend it to fans of deep turn-based strategy.

Great game finally updated for iOS 11!. Thanks to the Firaxis & 2K teams for updating this for iOS 11 (and beyond)! This is a great game, and I'm so glad the teams decided to keep the franchise going on iOS 11. Now, I am *begging* Sid Meier, Firaxis & 2K to reconsider updating Ace Patrol & Pacific Skies for iOS 11. Those 2 games were a labor of love for Sid and a small dev team. Sid took the classic Ace of Aces gamebooks from 1980, and did a killer job bringing it back to life on iOS. Please don't let this series fade into oblivion again. These 2 games deserve to live on!

Great game, Buggy port. The game itself is a high quality masterpiece of the strategy genre, and at first I thought this port was the same, but as I played I ran into several game ending crashes that stopped my entire progression in the game. The first time I couldn't pass the second tutorial, so I started a new game without them. I played for a while until I had a crash loading the HQ after a mission. Each time I reloaded and attempted to return, it crashed again, halting that game progress. Now I can't get an hour in without this happening again. 2K, please work on fixing this. I'm playing on an iPhone 6 which is supposed to be compatible.

I'll raise review once fixed. First of all I love xcom and this is an amazing game. But let's just say it has a MAJOR bug. I'm still on the second mission and can't get past it. The game will randomly get stuck on an action and when I click accept (for instance if I want to fire at an alien or throw a grenade, or try to move) it doesn't do anything. No freezing or crashing. Even if I try to move it won't let me. I have an iPad Air and am running iOS 8. As soon as you fix this bug I swear to raise the review to five stars.. Thanks 2k! PS, You guys are my favorite company :)

Very close to the PC versions. The game is great. It's definitely an old XCOM game, without bonds, added bonuses, and new characters but none the less still fun and time consuming. Personally I have it 4 stars for the simple fact that the camera is difficult to use. It has trouble with some camera angles and can sometimes force your character to move when you are trying to scroll around the map. Either way it's fun and not game breaking to say the least. I just want more.

Smooth as butter, but something's still bother me. I have an iPad Air 2. I have never had a crash and it runs amazing. With that out of the way.... I beat this game on PS3 in normal or classic difficulty with little problems. I decided to try easy and I am getting destroyed. The missions seem more relentless and just awful. I honestly wonder if it is a bug. I am taking off a point for the inability to change nationality or gender. I can make everyone black but cannot have only women or an only Nigerian army. Dumb. Don't take away my choices.

Great game but broken save?. First of all the game is addictive I have played it 4 times and beat it every time but on this one I was one a large ufo and I was battling a sectopod when the game crashed and now that save only that save doesn't work it crashes mid load :( please fix this ps if you get this game make sure it is compatible or you will not be able to play it even thought you have it I am not asking for a fix to my save just so I know it won't happen again

Easily the best game on iPad. I logged 500 hours on PC and another 100+ hours on iOS. I used to play this on my iPad 2 and it was very slow. I would only recommend it on iPad Air or iPhone 6. Otherwise you're going to have a bad time. The only two issues I have with the game are elevation control and double click movement. Elevation control is a bit buggy - I often fight the game to recognize that I don't want to go on the roof of the ship, but inside the ship. Also it would be nice if you can disable double click movement. Often, I'm trying to find nice cover and trying different angles, but the game thinks my double click means that I want my soldier to move. Far too often I have my guys out of position because if this. Please let us confirm movements. Otherwise I think this is the best game out there. I wish there were more like it.

Pretty fun. So I’m a sad poor boy who can’t afford a pc but I’ve watched streamers play this game and they can choose between the different specialists like sniper, assault, heavy, ect. You can’t do that in the mobile version. It didn’t bother me to much when I didn’t know that the pc version had an option to choose. The only reason I bring it up is because I recently started a new game and I HAVE 23 SUPPORT SOLDIERS for reference I have 25 soldiers in total. I know the game has been here for awhile and I doubt that A. Anyone will see this comment and B. If the developers did see it I doubt they would change it. I just wanted to vent about it

Great!. I finally pushed myself to get the app and I've loved it so much. I was a huge fan of the pc version, but was worried that mobile versions would ruin it but it didn't. Not including a little lag and bad textures which are standard for any mobile port there is only 2 problems, On maps with elevated multiple terrain sometimes the camera will glitch out, and also me being a custamaztion freak when It comes to xcom, I was a little disapointed the dlc helmets and hats didnt get in. Besides those though this is a great mobile port and it will prob replace the pc for me.

Great transition to touch controls. This is a game I've played 100s of hours of on the PC, and the ability to have this on iOS makes my addition even worse lol. Not only is this one of the best strategy games I've ever played, but it translates perfectly to iOS. Runs smooth, the touch controls are not perfect, but they work great when you get the hang of it. If you like Xcom or just turn based combat games, you will not be disappointed. Get this game.

Great game just one issue. Such a fantastic game I’ve played the first one on my phone an Xbox and now I love the ads on version enemy within. Just I hate how zoomed in it makes you start with each turn. You literally have to zoom out every time or you can’t see anything on the battlefield. It’s so irritating and I hope they release a update to choose what view is preset. I’d absolutely love that. I can’t stand how much I have to zoom out every time I move a person.

Awesome game - but can’t complete. 5 star game, 4 star issue with iPad Pro. I have really enjoyed this game - it is a faithful port and has worked quite well on my IPad Pro.... until the final boss battle with the Uber Ethereal. The game will not display anything beyond the last door into the last chamber... as such, I can’t enter, engage in battle, and save (or fail to save) Earth. Bummer ... the other 40 hours of play have been amazing, however. Well worth the fun if you are playing on another device. Thanks, 2K, for creating and (re)releasing a phenomenal game.

Great Game. Great game. Just wish i could zoom out and stay zoomed out. It zooms back in automatically every turn which is annoying. Also with headphones when I move on the screen sound goes to only one side of my head. I understand the 3D attempt but frankly it's just annoying. Those are the only 2 complaints I have. I wouldn't be saying this if I didn't love this game. I want these 2 things fixed. Other than that it's the best game in the App Store.

Awesome game, need some fixing ..... If you played original game, this is it but a little bit downgraded. Game likes to drop out time to time. (So save constantly ;) If you zoom out (because phone screen kind of small) the game zooms back inn automatically after any action. There is no way to exit to main menu from the game. (Only way is to kill the program and start it again) The hit percentage isn't actual (on hard and very hard mode at least), some damage need adjustment too (like plasma sniper rifle does 30% of the time 1-3 damage. Comparing to other UFO games this is the most easy and short one with only few weapon updates. you can only send 1 fighter to fight Alien ships and many other small issues... The game is kind of hard in the beginning, but then it gets extremely easy. Which is very disappointing ;( Some maps and missions are missing from original version.

Still one of my Favs. I’ve played this game at about 10 times all the way through (1-2 days of straight game play). I figured it was time to write a review. If your a fan of turned based strategy then this game is for you. It is a shining beacon for what game devs should be shooting for when it comes to this genre. I keep checking in with you 2k for something/anything even close to what you did here. Please for the love of god make more like this! Ok time to make it 11 😉

Great game, but bring long war... I have played Xcom enemy within from front to back, and the port itself has great reliability if with a few hiccups here and there. Now, the base game is great, it is fun, fair and unfair at times as is war,but it has come to my knowledge that there the Long War mod that simply adds so much to the game, makes it fairer and harder as well as unique. I wish I could play with those rules myself, but sadly, I do not own the PC version, so I am here with only the base game. Probably development for this port has stopped, but I can only hope that somehow Long War could be added somehow...

CRASHES! 0SUPPORT DONT BUY!. Buyers remorse!!!! All these positive reviews where they come from?!?! Paid?!? Cuz I'm not the only one! It also appears that they have completely dropped support for a FULL PRICE THATS 10x's that of the typical game! The nearly 4GB file took days to download & now I can't even 1) do the tutorial! CRASHES BEFORE IT LOADS! 2) skip tutorial, & it actually allowed me to play the 1st. Mission, then as soon as the cut scene, the game crashes. And then crashes and crashes and gee guess what it then crashes some more!!!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!!!!! NOT FOR A TRIPLE A GAME AT FULL PRICE! I demand a REFUND!!!!!!! None of the reviews mention this! They all just rave about how amazing it is! (I'm sure the games actually great when it works & u can play it!!!) but since it hasn't been updated in what 1-2yrs!!!! ????!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous!!!! APPLE SHOULD NOT ALLOW THIS SH****T!!!!!!!! Give me a break. I want my $$$ back!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm about done with Apple the direction it's heading in is not good! Bottom line don't waste your money! The game has been abandoned! Zero updates! Not supported.

Way too buggy. As of writing this I have an iPhone 6p and the latest updates. I have experienced numerous game breaking bugs that prevent any sort of progress from happening. As it stands my character cannot fire his weapons, or any other type of action to progress the game. This is not the only bug I've experienced. I have had the game not allow me to change elevation, switch between characters in combat, simply not respond to button presses despite the button showing it had been clicked in the game. I loved what we had on PC but the flaws in this games coding are far too hard to even consider playing this again until the devs resolved these issues.

Won’t work on iPhone 8 (update). [Update: Works now. Pretty good pc port of one of my favorite games. Good control scheme. Only frustrating thing is that at some points it doesn’t seem like the camera does what I want it to.] I upgraded from an iPhone 5 to an 8 and was excited to get this game on my phone. The app said that it didn’t work for iOS 11 so I waited for an update to download the game. Now I can open the game, watch the opening cinematic, and then I get frozen on the title screen and can’t start the actual game. Very unacceptable for a 2 year old game.

Pleasantly astounded!!!!. This is by far the best iOS purchase that I have ever made. Game runs smoothly and the graphics look great. Short of the cut scenes of soldiers taking shots I have not noticed a difference in the gameplay. I still can't figure out how 2K has this game running this good on my iPhone. Really well done. If you have enjoyed XCOM in the past then you will not be disappointed. I can take it with me on the go.

Bug. So normally the game is great I love playing and would normally play it all day but I have an issue. So I load up the game I go to campaign select click on my campaign with like 72 hours of play and I try to load it and it exits me out of the game I try to restart the app still doesn’t work, I restart my phone still doesn’t work, so I load a different campaign that I’ve hardly played and it works, I don’t know what the problem is but it’s irritating not being able to play something I payed for, thank you for reading, please fix this.

crappy. game crashes every session. I have to restart the app and re-do everything. It has trouble transitioning between the cut scenes of the ship landing for example. It will also crash if I edit my squad before a mission and start the mission, causing me to lose all modifications done while 'editing' a soldier. I've bought this game on xbox360, pc, and both versions on my iPAD so obviously I love it, but the iPAD/iOS version is poorly executed. I am not complaining about the normal bugs that this game has and have learned to accept, but the crashing has made this app worthless to me. The developers aren't making fixes it seems so they won't even read this. whatever. Dont release Part 2 if it is going to be like this.

Sound Doesn’t Work on New iPad Pro. I bought this game back on my iPad Air (original) and it was great, very close to the PC version. I got a new 12.9 Pro just recently and the sound does not work. I contacted support and they had me delete and reinstall and full-restart and it still has no sound. I also lost all but one of my iCloud saves after the reinstall. I’m on iOS 11.1.2. The game seems to play, albeit silently, so all the great in-game audio and cues are gone. The original game won’t even play (Enemy Unknown, which I also own) so I’m not holding my breath for a fix. Too bad, they’re great games. 2 stars for (lack of) support and updates.

No audio. I’m a fan of Xcom 2 but had never played the original. Thought I’d try it out on mobile since I’d be unlikely to invest the time in playing it on pc. Overall a good time killer if you’re a fan of the franchise. Sometimes controlling the camera to look into buildings can be a little tricky. For some reason the audio isn’t working on my Apple SE second gen and there’s no customer support available anymore. I’m assuming because it’s such an old game. A little disappointing but doesn’t make it unplayable.

Like The Original, Fun Gameplay But With One Problem. I was enjoying playing this game. Good feel and fun. But then I reached the final temple ship. Killed off the aliens guarding it. Spent the next 2 hrs walking my guys around looking for a way to advance to the final battle. There is no indication as to where I should go or what I should do to move on. Just a bunch of locked doors and no way to open them. Gave up and deleted in mad frustration. What a waste of my time. Was loving it up to that point.

Great game. Really enjoying playing this. Had no idea it would be so addictive. It has a few bugs that can be really annoying at times. When you need more meld really badly and have a hard go of getting to it, then the game bugs and you can collect it no matter how many times you click it. That’s the worst clitch. I’ve had it crash a couple of times just as finishing the mission, but usually can get back close enough not to do much damage. Other then that, it pretty good. It’s worth the $10 bucks. Most of the apps out there are junk. But this is well done.

Painful Painful Sadness. This game is and was amazing the whole thing played really well, comfortable controls, ran smoothly. I am also biased because I love the XCOM games. HOWEVER, be warned! There is still an absolutely game-breaking bug that I'm suffering from on Iphone 5S. Looking into it there was a thread on their support forums that said this same bug was fixed. This is not at all the case currently. The bug manifests itself on the very last mission of the game, a good portion of it plays fine but then you find your squad piling up against an impassable door with nothing but darkness on the other side. Consequently darkness is now all that is in my heart because I was so close! This game otherwise would have received 5 stars and a stellar review from me, (it will change if it's fixed). In closing, if you want to play through an entire game and not be able to finish it because of a bug. Then sure get this game. Otherwise save yourself the heartache and money. Do not buy.

Save your money.. While I am an avid fan of X Com on the PS3 ( one of the best games ever) I just can't get behind this version. The game mechanics are ok, as far as the touch screen and so forth, but the game play, sheesh! Your troops can't aim worth sh!t, and that gets really frustrating. I'm saying that as an experienced X Com vet. Even after grinding away for a couple of days to build up some decent troops with gear and they still ALL miss close range 89-90% shots I had to delete the game. It should be fun and challenging, however, it is just infuriating. Not a good experience. Save your money and just slam your head repeatedly into the wall instead.

Deep and addictive. First things first: I'm on my second playthrough on an iPad 3 and have had no technical issues at all. This game is not hopelessly broken for everyone. The short review: This is an incredibly deep, intense, and rewarding game. This is pure gaming, not a freemium money leech hiding under an empty shell of a game. It's not perfect. Moving your soldiers can be frustrating. Load times can be sluggish. A users' manual would be nice for a game this complex. Despite all that, it's still easily a five star game.

Great game. This game is one that lasts the ages and I never get tired of playing it. I hope that they update it so it keeps running on my iPad. Update after contacting 2K support: We really appreciate you taking the time, both to reach out to us and for sharing your feedback and frustration with us! Unfortunately, as we are 2K Technical Support team, we do not have any input on the development team's direction on future game releases and updates! As this is the case, we highly recommend keeping a close eye on 2K Blog and XCOM Twitter for new information regarding new patches!

Game is AWESOME but.... This game is awesome honestly it has so much strategy and every decision changes the way you play. The game has many quality’s that so many games don’t have. It has realistic art and gameplay that makes the game look way better. Though when u abort a mission all your people that u sent are gone, dead. It is very annoying so I recommend you put a auto save so u can change what u did or keep the people you sent. Else this game would be perfect.

Great game but needs some fixes. I love this game and I've spent hours immersed in the combat and base building. But there are a few things I've noticed and it drives me crazy. First on the fishing village mission my heavy got stuck over the water and I was not able to move him for the rest of the mission which essentially doomed him to die. Using items, attacking, reloading the save, restarting the game, reloading his weapon, and waiting a few turns does not fix the bug. Next whenever I try to adjust the camera the screen the graphics go crazy and sometimes walls start glitch into in the way so moving soldiers is impossible.

broken trash. this game on steam is easily 5 stars but even for a mobile port this is bad... like seriously i cant even believe how broken the base assualt is, and you can revert any of the "second wave" options because you can inly access it when youre in a game but you cant change them in the middle of a game. anyway seriously just buy the thing on pc because its really not worth it to buy it on herr for any reason. you would be better off playing that TRASH known as clash of clans or candy crush or any other mobile garbage they use kate upton to advertise. im looking at you game of war: fire age. mobile developers should seriously consider killing themselves.

Great Game!. I wanted to start by saying that I love this game. I had it on PC, and aside from occasional tile select issues, it plays about as well on touchscreen as it does with a controller, and certainly better than mouse and keyboard. It has ~95% of the PC version included. It certainly doesn't need me to say it, but it's essential playing for fans of Turn-Based Tactical games. I gave four stars, instead of 5, because I have a few concerns moving forward. The first is that this game is still 32-bit, and there are rumblings that iOS 11 will lose 32-bit capability. The second is that the game is missing a few things from the PC version, most notably a handful of maps (graveyard map and restaurant map most notably) and the Slingshot/Progeny missions. I for one would be more than happy to pay a few bucks for these as DLC. Now that developers can respond, I'm hoping they can comment :)

Solid port.. I played the original XCOM: Enemy Unknown on Steam and the mobile version does an excellent job of retaining the gameplay, graphics and pacing of the PC version. I played through the game twice on my iPad mini 3. Some crashes occurred occasionally, but the autosave system means you won’t lose much progress. Great turn based strategy and tactical gameplay. The touch controls work fairly well. Highly recommended for someone looking for pc strategy on a mobile platform.

It’s XCOM on your phone. I’m a big XCOM nut but I haven’t downloaded or played Enemy Within until just recently. I can confirm that it is full bore XCOM, but the control schematics make it so missions usually take twice as long as they should and switching between floors and climbing up floors is usually an ordeal, if you can get to a different floor at all. It’s good for people who can’t get enough XCOM and need a fix away from home but it’s no replacement for the real thing. The bugs don’t usually interfere with the experience. $10 is a fine price. I’ll revisit it occasionally.

Please Port XCOM 2 to Mobile!. I'm not sure how much support is rallied behind pushing for a mobile port of the phenomenal sequel, but please Firaxis, please. I am a massive fan and a daily player of both Civilization and XCOM. I love them both beyond verbal expression. Unfortunately I don't have a very capable computer to run the future of these series' as I am a console gamer. However, I am as much as a mobile gamer as I am on console, and it would be a momentous feat should XCOM 2 make it iOS just as its predecessor. Thank you for all you do, Firaxis.

Broken. Bought the game and was excited to play. Already within the second mission and I can’t actually play the game. Constantly getting issues where no inputs are recognized and it won’t allow me to move, or it tells me to aim at an enemy but there is nothing to select. Can’t move the camera, can’t change elevations, and the only fix is to reload the game and hope that it actually lets you do something. If it does work, it’ll work for one turn then in the next turn guess what? You’re stuck with the same issue again. I’m done trying to work around this broken crap. For $10 you’d think they would have this sort of thing fixed. Requesting a refund.

Play it from iphone 5 and on (update). It's a full pc game on mobile, so no complaints. But it runs slow on ipad 3. Also, I needed to play the game on easy mode to be able to restart missions, since you can get bugs in normal mode that can prevnt further progress. Please, fix these bugs. Example, in the north america mission 2 on normal, i'm forced to attack an enemy out of my range, so I cannot do any action and needes to start on easy mode. UPDATE: the game runs marvelous on iphone 5! Strongly suggested to play on any device from iphone 5 and on.

I love this game!!!. This is one of my favorite games ever. I remember playing it back in the 90s on the PC when I was growing up and I was fit to be tied that they came out for the console and later the iPad. I played it on PS3 and all of the graphics and animation's are a little better but the iPad version and iPhone versions are incredible 😊 Never crashes. Amazing fun gameplay. Exciting always changing missions. Try on Ironman and try not to lose your cool LOL.

Bugs - unplayable. Just bought this game and now I'm stuck. I'm on my first mission and I've got a guy stuck on a roof because the game "tutorial" told me to climb up there but now won't let me climb down. The only thing I can find that seems to suggest a way down is the "change cursor level" but swiping with two fingers does nothing and any location I select, other than the roof, has a yellow X. To make matters worse, now I am stuck in the action menu for the same guy and nothing I select does anything. All I can do is select menu items but I can't cancel or accept any of them. I can't even switch to another member of my party. Bugs!

Awesome. Such a great game. Every now an then the game crashes and you have to re-load. Multiplayer is not cross platform form. Don’t bother playing multi player. Either crashes or some players use glitches to stall the game on your turn and you loose for not being able to even play your turn. Very frustrating. When you actually get a match though, a lot of fun. Just play multi player with friends.
