So helpful!. This app has provided me all the incentive I need to stay focused. In this world of nearly constant connectivity, having the app encourage me to ignore my phone has also helped me put aside emails, other side tasks, and in-office distractions in favor of writing. I first used this app during a writing workshop and got so much done that I decided to incorporate it into my daily writing practice, and I have not been disappointed with the results! Thank you! I do wish that the app played a sound when a tree has grown. I also wish that there was a way to allow the app to turn off notifications, because if I leave my phone screen up so I can see when the tree is done, I also see my text messages, emails, etc. come in. I don’t open them, but I still wish I could have screen silence while working on a tree. I’ll investigate playing around with my settings. Maybe there’s already a way to accomplish this!

Very Good App but with a very annoying flaw. The app is great for what it does. It’s not too complex, but just has enough fun functionality to keep you motivated and involved. You might not like these kinds of gamified time trackers if the game part isn’t attractive to you (aka you don’t like growing trees or raising an RPG character), but for everyone else they should like this. There is only one very very annoying flaw. There is no landscape mode, at least not on tablets. People have been asking for this for a while now and it still hasn’t happened. I understand why they’d hold off on making it initially but with the release of the Magic Keyboard (which is now gen 2) that puts iPads in landscape, they should have developed this by now. Essentially it’s their way of saying only use this app on your phone. Also it’s not a bad web plugin but I don’t really find it that useful. Maybe if your workflow lived entirely in a browser, it’d be more helpful. This isn’t to be a downer though. It’s a very good app, it just has some flaws that are puzzling at best and keep it from being really great

Tangible for ADHD. I am someone who struggles tremendously with studying due to my ADHD. Part of this is because setting restrictions on time and trying to force an intangible structure on myself doesn’t work. I can “say” I’ll follow a schedule to do my homework, but there’s nothing stopping me from straying from that schedule only I have a stake in, so I don’t maintain it. This app gives me a time limit that has a tangible consequence for breaking, because the flower or shrub (or TinyTan BTS member) I’m growing will die if I break the rules of the app, and will remain on my forest record forever. I don’t want that to happen, so I follow the rules and do what I set out to do originally. However, as is the case for many people who are neurodivergent, setting habits is almost impossible, because one missed step or one missed day ruins the entire process. So opening this app and turning it on to study is a choice you have to actively make every day, and that’s difficult. I choose to because I like the act of having a little forest I don’t have to maintain in real life, but also because I know I feel worse if I don’t study or don’t get everything done when I could have, but it took me 2 years to get to this point of knowing the choice to open this app and use it is worth it. It’s so hard to do things of my own volition, but this app helps. It’s not perfect, but it’s better than nothing at all, so I think it’s worth the download.

Adorably Motivational. The cute little trees are just so adorable that I start wanting to put down my phone so I can unlock new ones! I am eagerly awaiting new trees to be added. The user interface is very simple and aesthetic. All in all it’s a great app; the only problem is that sometimes I run into situations where I plant a tree but then end up needing to use my phone for something (like if my mom calls or I have to look up something for homework) and can’t wait for the tree to finish. There is a feature where you can have the app continue counting time after the tree finshes growing, so you can work around the problem by planting a short-time tree and then just continuing to not disturb it. But it would be really great if there was some sort of pause feature, maybe with some limitation like not earning coins if you pause it so that people don’t take advantage of it to ‘cheat’ on their time. Or maybe something where you can erase or reset the time, so you don’t have to feel bad about killing a cute little tree when you actually legitimately needed to use your phone for a minute.

Idea. This app is great. What would be really awesome too is if it could have a feature that allows users to track what they spend their time on —it would be a great thing for freelance billing and for getting an overview in general of how much time certain tasks are costing people. For instance, it would be so useful if I could set the timer for say, 25 minutes, and before hitting “Plant,” if I also had an option to name that 25-minute planting session “Storyboard illustration project 01,” or something. And then also to be able to save these task names on a list if such a storyboarding project is going to take me numerous planting sessions, so that I can just select it from a list instead of typing it ever time. With such a feature, I’d be able to look back and see how much time I tracked —good to know for my own productivity, and also to be able to track my work hours all in the same app. Either way, the app is amazing and I’ve already been able to have a real tree planted :)

Forest is my new favorite app. I’ll be honest: I’m a student, and I spend WAY TOO MUCH time on my phone. It is a major distraction and I can feel myself getting sucked in but was having trouble ever convincing myself to just put it down and get stuff done. I never buy apps (I only go for the free versions of everything) — I literally just paid actual money for my first app ever earlier this year, after owning a smart phone for the past 6 years. This app is well worth the $2. It helps motivate me to stay off my phone when I’m practicing (music student) or trying to get work done. My boyfriend also has the app and we’ve made rooms to help us both focus simultaneously a few times but I’m hoping to get more friends to buy it so I can do this more. It is the perfect combination of motivating and making you feel disappointed in yourself if you slip up 😂 Seriously, it’s so satisfying to watch your forest grow and it’s very easy to use. You can also create new “tags” for why the trees were planted, which I love (I made one specific for practicing which is also a good way to help me keep track of how much practice I do). I had tried setting time limits for screen time/social media through iPhone settings but I’ve already started ignoring that....but Forest is so much more convincing and I just can’t let my sweet little trees die lol. Overall I love love this app and wish I’d heard of it sooner! It’s a relief to have something really hold me accountable for my screen time!

Such a useful app. My first app review...here we go! This has to be one of my favorite apps. I take some pretty advanced classes and it’s important that I get the focus time I need. This app does an amazing job at encouraging me to not only stay off of social media apps, but to actually want to use this app to rack up coins and study time. You get coins for using the timer, and once you finish, you can spend them in the virtual store. It’s so satisfying to be able to earn new study sounds and/or trees to plant. Ah- forgot about that. While you focus, a virtual tree is planted and grows until you finish. It’s then added to your personal virtual garden- and I make a daily goal to make it as pretty as possible! Also you can use the coins you earn to have a real life tree planted somewhere In the world! Imagine getting work done AND saving the environment? Killing two birds with one productive app!

i like it a lot. To be honest, I really like this app. I think it’s super helpful, and super beautiful. I really like the grid layout and all of that. My only complaint is that I think that although the developers know this already, it is silly that there’s a limit on how many real tress you can plant through the app. my biggest complaint however is not necessarily with just this app but also similar apps that reward you for focusing which is that they don’t really get of a full Pomodoro experience, i.e. letting you set up multiple cycles of 25 minutes of focus and 5 minutes of break. Instead, you have to open up the app every time you finish your focus session and click to set a timer for the break and go back to the app after the break to start the focus timer again. Of course, this isn’t a dealbreaker on the app for me, it just means after that five minute break I will often get distracted and forget to come back to the app. Other than that I think it’s a great app and adding the classic Pomodoro experience would push this app to five stars for me.

Best app for this!. I have this thing where I need to be doing something in my phone it doesn’t matter what it is. I even deleted social media and even when I got so much better it got to a point where I would even check on my gallery, the thing was to be doing something in my phone and escape from work. This app keeps you motivated with a purpose (growing a tree) so your mind is into something and you can select which apps you can access to (I only allow like emergency apps) so your phone stays pretty much obsolete and I love it. It also motivates you with little messages and you can make your own so you know exactly which thing to write to keep your head on the ground. I love that you can have little tags so you can monitor how much time you spend with God, studying, cleaning or whatever you wanna put on there! You will not regret having this app. 😊

Really keeps me off of my phone. A few years ago I downloaded this app on my tablet and loved it. So as soon as I got a device capable of installing the app again, I did! There is just something so rewarding about growing a tree while doing something I actually need to do. I have been known to turn it on in serious study mode or when out with friends so I can really be in the moment. Since the last time I used this, they have added some new capabilities. You can tag trees to say what you were doing while growing your tree. You can use the app with your friends to really make your group focus or actually spend time with each other. And, one of my favorites, you can use the virtual coins you earn from growing trees to plant a tree in real life. If I have one criticism, it is that they set point values for new trees and real trees entirely too high. It is very hard to raise enough coins to unlock even one new tree type let alone get the funds to plant a tree in real life!

Engaging, creative and fun time mgmt tool. I usually use an online Pomodoro timer to help me focus and stay on task. However on my new IPad I was unable to get their notifications plus I was still playing on my phone. As a first year medical student my new lifestyle is mainly studying. I needed a time management and focus tool that would help make studying less painful. 😩 I heard about Forest and was skeptical at first. I did not want to pay for the app since I am cheap and thought I could do it on my own using alternative ways. However I was not successful and decided to buy this app. Since purchasing Forest I have no regrets! 😊 I enjoy the ability to track and visually see my progress. I am a visual learner and am positively reinforced by the forest I am growing and enjoy earning money to unlock more features of the app. What sold me was the social impact of the app where you can plant a tree. Love it! Highly recommend and so worth the money spent. Would definitely buy it again.

Amazing App, I Highly Recommend It. I have been slacking off and pushing off a lot of responsibilities lately and recently I heard a student in one of my classes mention this app and how you can grow little trees and a forest and I thought that was amazing, the second I got home I checked out the app and decided to buy it, one of the best $2 I have ever spent, I’m staying way more productive lately and I love seeing the little trees get planted, it has great graphics and design and is really simple to use. When I saw there was also an option in the app to plant real trees to help the environment I thought that was absolutely amazing and made me feel really happy for getting the app and supporting the developers. I have also just recently purchased the other app by the same developers called SleepTown and it is also amazing, it has been helping me have better sleeping habits and I have been way more productive and active during the day and just feel over all happier and healthier and feel like I’m getting my life back on track. I would recommend both of these apps to everyone, I have been telling my family and friends about it a lot and how it’s helped me and they love it too. Over all 10/10 great apps, I hope to see more from the developers in the future and love what they have done to help others 😎👍 🌲🌳🌴🌵🌱🎋🎄🍀 😴👍🌖🏠🏡🏘🏰🏕🏛🏫🏤

A pleasurable experience. I have picked up forest a few times through the years as a means to re-train myself to be focused. The premise is simple: you are betting against yourself. Accessing your phone costs you a beautiful little tree in your forest. It is also kind of fun like a game, "how can I shape my forest?" So, you have many motivations to not access your phone. At the end of the day, you see your forest with few (or preferably no) dead trees and you can say, "I did a good job today." The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the inherent limitations of such an app: it cannot differentiate between uses of the phone. For example, if I need to access my photos because I took a photo of a whiteboard in a meeting, I can't until the focus period ends. There is a mode that let's you cheat, but that defeats the purpose of the app. There is no solution to this, as that would defeat privacy measures in the phone. But, maybe that is a good result: changing your habits to discourage productive dependence on the computer in your pocket.

Fantastic!. This app has truly assisted me in staying focused on all my homework that i’m getting as i’ve got a lot going on between ap classes, music dedications & the track season coming up. i’ve always had a really bad habit of playing on my phone instead of completing the assignments i should. it’s caused me to loose a lot of sleep and this app has definitely helped with that. overall i totally recommend this app for anyone who has that annoying habit to procrastinate when you shouldn’t. on a side note though my friends and i typically converse about homework and check our answers with one another trough texting and after i’ve planted a tree i cannot respond back, which is the whole point, but id like to see a way i could pause the growth of my tree for say 5 minutes to allow myself to review the information that’s being passed on to me. it kinda goes against what this app is for but i feel it would be beneficial especially for students who regularly converse over their assignments

Best focusing app ever. I truly love this app. It really helps me stay focused, plus the trees are just so cute. The ability to collect coins is also very fun as it keeps an incentive to want to not breakYour focus and kill your tree. You get to buy new fun things with your coins which continues to motivate me. I like that you can change the look of the trees, you can keep it on for a very long time which is very useful. The Breaktime feature is also very helpful as it allows me to take breaks but still come back quickly and not procrastinate. You have the ability to keep a streak for a certain amount of days as well as the app tracks how long you focus for over the course of a day, a month, and even throughout the year. I would very much recommend this up to anyone who procrastinates or has struggles with staying concentrated as I do as it has helped me immensely.

Missing key features that would make a 5-Star app!. I’m an ADHDer and daily Forest user - the App has helped me to stay on track and check things off my to-do list (or as us ADHDers call our “wall of awful”). However, there are times I need to focus more than three hours and that three-hour limit is extremely annoying!!! I have unhealthy addictive habits that I’m trying to break - I started by restricting these activities to once very two hours and each week I increased the interval by 15 min; now I’m doing good at once every three hours but I can’t make progress without being able to set a longer interval. I’d also love to have more control over the visual design of my Forest. Specifically, I want to move things around and enter new lands that represent my progress with longer intervals. Because these features are missing, I’m now looking for a new app that offers more customization. I’d absolutely return to Forest if the developers offered a meaningful update - I’d even pay good money for the elements I’ve described here!

Where did my coins go???. I was 1 coin away from having 900 coins, enough to buy a new tree and I was very excited. I planted a bush for 10 minutes and now I’m at 867?? You can only imagine my disappointment. Is it charging me to plant trees? If so, then it’s a dumb feature and just makes me want to stop using the app. If it was a bug on your part, then I want my coins back 😡 I worked hard for those. They’re not easy to accumulate. But overall, I’m giving this app 4 stars (5 if I get my coins back). When I was referred by a friend I thought it was silly but it’s literally the only thing that keeps from using my phone when studying. You’d think planting fake trees (you can also save up to plant a real tree) wouldn’t be motivation enough but it is!!! If you convince your friends to buy this app, you can create a room and study together and hold each other accountable! My friends and I compare the trees we have and are always eager to expand our forest. Great app! Just give me coins back 😫. A suggestion: bushes SHOULD NOT cost the same as trees. That’s ridiculous, especially when the price increases with every buy.

Incredible for people with ADHD. As someone with ADHD who struggles infinitely with focus and maintaining my attention on one thing, especially with a phone within my grasp, this app has been an absolute life-saver. Before I started using this I would zone out, mindlessly pick up my phone, get lost on social media or some app, and completely forget I had been working or doing school work to begin with. As soon as I unlock my phone and see the Forest app open, I’m reminded of the task I was originally trying to focus on and it prevents those rabbit holes I would get lost in. Getting to see the physical manifestation of your focus and hard work is priceless. Not only do you get to see your forest and know that each individual tree represents 2 hours of focus, but you can look at each day, week, month, year to see the exact amount of hours you spent. I was really down on myself and felt like I wasn’t spending enough time studying. This app made me realize I’m actually spending a full 40 hour work week on homework, studying, tests, etc. It was a confidence boost that I am actually putting in the work.

The best pomodoro timer. I have ADHD & the pomodoro technique is a god sent for me but it’s hard to find a timer or a system that will really help keep me focused. THIS is the app! I’ve used Forest in the past & then drifted and used a dozen other timers for the pomodoro technique but I always come back to forest. And now I’m here to stay! This app has everything you need to use the pomodoro technique in a way that works for you. You can set timers for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, to 60 minutes and everything in between! You can schedule your breaks and use labels and make notes on your tasks as you do them! It’s so flexible and perfect and I love the Google Chrome extension as well so I can use it on my Mac & my iPhone with no added cost! I love seeing my forest grow and the options to buy different trees and things as well! Work hard enough and Forest will plant a real tree for you! 10/10 everyone should use this app!

Life changer!. I love Forest! I’m a huge procrastinator and often have issues focusing on work, staying present-minded, or sleeping due to the major distraction that is my phone. Forest has been crucial to breaking my phone addiction and I consider myself better off since I’ve been using it daily. I started using it to plant a 2-hour tree at bedtime to avoid looking at my phone, but I now use it constantly throughout my day to keep things on track. I love the ability to see all the nice “trees” I’ve planted, the coin earning system to unlock additional varieties of trees, and the option to plant a real-life tree as part of reforestation efforts. It took me a while but I was finally able to plant a real tree last month with all the coins I had saved! Thank you so much for making such a positive, life-improving app! To the Developer: I would love it if you added a widget to forest so that I can view my sapling’s progress even when my phone is locked 😊

Fun and works, but needs more features. So far I’m actively using it and having fun with it. I do feel more rewarded and accomplished when I finish a task which makes studying more fun and working from home less of a chore. It was definitely worth the $2! I think a reading feature would help though, especially for studying. It operates strictly on a timer, but say you need to read two chapters before tomorrow. It’s really hard to tell how long that will take. If you take to the material easily, it won’t take nearly as long as you expected to finish but if you stop the timer early you don’t get rewarded. So a checklist or task feature that maybe worked it conjunction with the timer would be better, something where you could mark a task as completed without being pinged because you got it done quicker than you thought. This could also work well if you’re trying to get chores done without getting distracted. Right now, this is better for work or sleep when you know you’re only going to be doing it for a set amount of time.

Great app and idea, but could you consider adding this feature?. Hello, First off, I love this idea and the app is well designed and visually appealing, great job on that! If you could add the option to have an unlimited timer, and the ability to pause that timer, this app would be exceptional. I guess not so much a timer, and more of a stopwatch since it would be counting time forward. It would be really cool to have multiple trees grow in a day, maybe one tree every two hours or something. I like keeping track of how much time I spend studying, but I can't pause the app's timer if, for example, I want to grab a quick bite or use the bathroom. Maybe an option to not kill the tree if you exit the app would be nice, too. I understand that the point of the app is to get people to not use their phone and be productive, but some of us have note card apps on our phones (ex. Anki) that we use, and so I would want the time spent doing note cards on my phone to also count towards growing trees! So basically I'm asking for a stopwatch feature to the app, that would be amazing!

Not for me. I feel like this is a concentration tracking app more than a productivity app. You plant a tree for every task you wish to concentrate on and if you break your focus (leave the app) the tree will wither. The problem here is that I need to concentrate on work, to work I need to use my phone. This app allows you to create a white list of apps that are required for your task, however this feature is not available in IOS devices. This renders the app to be nothing more than a tea timer and a graph depicting how many times you set the tea timer. You are allowed to create your own tags, but you can’t assign a task to your session until after the session is over, this means that if you read a book 7 days in a row you plant 7 trees instead of continue to water the same tree to keep it alive. I only bought this to be a visualization of my consistency with the various aspects of my life, but the app doesn’t work this way. I don’t see why this app isn’t free with ads considering that one of its most important features does not work on iPhones.

Helps with my ADHD!. I have ADHD so I tend to getting easily distracted by my brain. I’ve been using the free chrome extension which helped, but then I would just go on my phone instead. I was hesitant to buy the app but it was really worth it. You feel kinda guilty if you end up going off task and kill a tree, which sounds bad but it really helps keep you on track. Once your in the groove of whatever you’re doing you don’t even notice that the time you set aside has been up already! If you’re a student that procrastinates, this is great for you! You can set the time and use it for more than just studying: breaks, cleaning, drawing, writing. Some of my only complaints are the price. Even though is pretty cheap, there is a desktop Chrome extension of this that’s 100% free. You’re only limited to only one tree and a bush which gets boring after continuous use; and if you want a different tree it’s only in the mobile, which is rather annoying. Other than that, it’s very versatile and user-friendly no matter the age. Very well done. 👍🏼

Totally Worth the Money. This is the app that’s got me through middle school and two years of high school. I don’t have a diagnosed focusing disorder, but I get writing blocks and procrastinate a lot. Like, a LOT. This app has helped me so, so much. It’s really got everything you could ask for. An amazing user interface, currency that you get from focusing, fake (and real) trees that you can plant to make a beautiful forest out of focusing, tags so you know where you’re spending time focusing, and really cool analysis tools that show you what days and what times you focus the most. This is the one of the only apps that I would say is completely worth your money. The tech team is really amazing, I reached out to them about an issue I had and within a day they responded and within a week had fixed the issue. I’ve also for years been pushing for a stopwatch feature in their feedback survey(as a student I don’t always know how long homework will take) and they listened! The only things I guess I would say could be better would be the leaderboard, since it’s worldwide and there are some people who use the app to just get away from their phone, so they can have seriously high hours and it’s really impossible to beat if you use Forest for studying. Overall, amazing app that has literally changed my life in a positive way.

This app is a GODSEND. I have just the absolute worst habit of procrastination, and I have no idea what else to do to help me stop being such a sleaze-bag and stop sleazing around and shirking my homework and studying. I needed something to take my Sleaze level way down from Super Saiyan Sleaze God to, like, just a regular Super Saiyan Sleaze. One day, during my procrastination addiction, I was looking though some apps and I saw it: Forest-Stay Focused. I immediately felt drawn. “I’ll just keep procrastinating and sleazing it up while I check out this app,” I thought. Unbeknownst to my Sleazy Habits, this app would soon become the death them. I use it all the time and have gone from not studying or doing homework at all, to working on homework and studying for over 3 solid hours a day (and growing! As is my forest!). This app is awesome, and I can actually feel my Super Saiyan Sleaze Power leave me. Best $2 I ever spent. If you think about it, I’m only giving up like, a snickers bar and like, one or two 4-packs of Wrigley’s gum. Also, I can’t wait to unlock mushrooms and start sleazing it up with them.

Makes me want to be productive!. I really enjoy using this app! I recently got it and I used it on the first day I got it. I think the features it has is cool, too. There are different settings for the background noise and they start you out with rainfall outside a window. (You have to “earn” the others with the coins you make). Another feature I thought is helpful is the ‘deep focus’ setting that you can put the app on and if you leave the app, then your tree or bush withers and dies. It kind of forces you to put down your phone or else the thing that shows that you’ve done your work is gone. I like being able to label the trees or bushes with the task I completed as well. My forest is growing! The only thing I don’t like as much is how you have to wait for a long time to unlock a different type of bush or tree. It’ll probably take a week to two weeks of like, an hour in order to unlock a new tree. :/ Overall, I really enjoy this app! (Please let me have a new tree).

The app everyone needs. Let me start this off with a statement everyone can agree with — I never want to spend money on apps. But Forest is the best app I’ve ever used and I’ve never regretted spending that $2 for a second. I am a student with horrible attention problems and struggles with staying motivated, and this app manages to solve it all. I’ve been using it since 2018 and I’m only reviewing it now to say that the newest update brings this app to a whole new level. With the app allow list using apple’s screen time feature it solves every single little problem I had with the app (except for the plant together feature, it lags a bit when planting with users across platforms, if a developer is reading this please fix it!). I’ve referred so many friends to forest and it’s helped them so much as well, it gives us an incentive to study, to be productive, get off our phone, and then makes it so easy to do so. If you need help staying focused, this app is the app for you. And you can help plant real physical trees!! No other app gives you the chance to save your brain and the planet. I really do love this app & I can’t recommend it enough.

Easy, motivating, effective. I downloaded the app for work productivity, but it’s made me hyper-aware of how often I actually pick up my phone. For any task, just having the reminder that my phone is not currently available to me is extremely helpful. I’m realizing that I waste a ton of time that stems from, say, just looking at a text that could wait until later. Moral: don’t think this app isn’t useful because you’re not at a desk all day. It has countless uses. I agree with what other users have said about gamification being a good motivator, and the user interface is very appealing. Creating and naming tags produces helpful data. For instance, if you’re concerned about work-life balance, you can see a colorful pie chart with a few simple clicks. One thing: I’m fine with how the trees become more “expensive” as time passes. However, it can take a long, long time to gain sufficient coins after awhile. I’m not asking for instant and easy gratification, because that’s contrary to the spirit of the app. I think adding more achievement bonuses (that don’t depend on having friends that use the app or on leaderboard performance) would be great. Unlocking achievements is also rewarding and something to strive for, so I’d love to see more!

Great Concept & Motivation for Studying. It’s a huge plus that there’s a humanitarian and ecologically motivating factor for diving into productivity. I’ve perpetually avoided school work (among many other less than desirable responsibilities) for years and I’ve tried countless things to help keep me on track and focused. Along with other self-care tips like creating a relaxing setting for studying, proper breathing, getting up and moving, meditation, vitamins and eating/sleeping right This app is the icing on the cake. I can bring a more creative/optimistic outlook on studying. Also, for student that don’t know what the Pomodoro technique is - it really works!! If you’re a student and haven’t tried to, give it a shot. The technique is setting a timer for 25 minuets studying/reading/working & 5 minuets off. Personally I found that taking two 5 minuet breaks every two sessions and then one 15 minuet break after the third round is my sweet spot. There’s plenty of research to back up the technique if you’re interested in it :) For App Developers: Please bring this app to full timer control/functionality on the Apple Watch!! A lot of students are looking to completely get away from their phones while studying (at least I am). Other than that amazing job on the app, will be by go-to every time I need to crack down on some productivity :)

Improved my grades from a “D-“ to “A+”. I don’t usually write reviews on apps but this deserves app my 2 cents. If you are like me where you see your phone even if you have tons of homework and you get distracted by social media and you do homework last minute. Then you need this app. Before I bought this app I had “D-‘s”and “F’s” in all my classes. Everytime I Would get home from highschool I would immediately go on social media. But with Forest my life is completely different. I now have “A’s”In almost all my classes and if not an “A” the a “B+”. When you sign up into Forest you are greeted with 2 trees that you can plant and then unlimited other trees that are so many cute designs. When I got the app I expected it to be confusing but it’s not. Forest shows you where everything is when you get the app. You can have to up 3hrs for a plant to grow. Over all best app I’ve ever bought for myself.

Seriously, find a way to incorporate regular breaks like pomodoro.. It’s a shock to me that the most recent largest revamping of the app is just installing a count-up feature. I mean is that seriously the most demanded feature? I’ve been trying to incorporate regular breaks into my continuous work sessions by running a pomodoro app together with the Forest app for ages, which has been super inefficient, and I’m sure I’m not alone. Maybe you can set an allowance of max of 5-minute break every 30min. You can choose how often you break with total amount of break time as constraint. Say you are planting for 2h, giving you a max break allowance of 20min. You can choose the traditional pomodoro method of breaking for 5 every 25min, or you can choose to work 1h and 40min and take 20. But seriously regular breaks are so essential for concentration and I just think missing that feature is a big flaw in an app that aims to improve concentration and productivity.

I LOVE this app! A couple of requests.... This app is the best for those who need a little visual stimulation and extra incentive to stay productive. I truly hate exiting the app during a work session (thus killing my little sapling), and I get a lot of satisfaction from seeing my daily forest grow. The app has kept me from getting distracted by calls, texts, and web-browsing on many occasions. A couple of requests: I would love more kinds of ambient sounds to be added to the "store." Also, please create a version for Mac desktop to keep us chronic procrastinators from using distracting apps and websites there! I know that a basic version of Forest exists as a Chrome extension, but it lacks a lot of my favorite features from the app, and doesn't currently block distracting desktop apps. I'm not such a fan of Chrome, anyway (I prefer Safari). In any case, keep up the fantastic work! Oh! And go check out the SleepTown app by the same developer. It uses the same concept to help people develop better sleep habits, and I can verify that it helps with getting a good night's sleep!

Lovely App. Helps me focus to study; as someone with major ADHD, it’s useful to provide motivation for short periods of time! Love the aspect of unlocking trees, just worried about whenever I unlock them all; if the app creators can make some sort of consistent and ever-expanding progression system where you always have motivations to keep gathering the coins it’d be 5 starts for me! Given that they occasionally add trees, I think they’re getting there — could definitely improve the sounds/atmosphere music offered for purchase and maybe more purchases or aspects could be added later? This is all just nitpicking though, currently I’m quite happy and highly recommend the app! Edit: A simple addition would be a way to batch edit tags; it’s a simple fix, but would improve user interface as I create tags for classes and different aspects of projects; once a project or semester is done though, it’s tedious to individually delete — and I’m sure other people rotate through different tags as well :)

Eric. I usually don’t write reviews, but I knew I had to write one for this app. At first, I had doubt. I’m they guy who constantly checks his phone for no reason and gets distracted. I planted the first tree, and magically, it just worked. I did longer trees and it helped me get off my phone for the whole night! The app makes you plant a tree, and you can’t exit the app for however long you set it. If you finish planting the tree, it goes in your forest. However, if you leave the app, the tree withers and shows up on your forest as well. You can use this with friends, coop, and gain coins for ever tree planted and achievement completed. Not only that, it is a relaxing app that has a selection of calming music(beach sounds, forest, etc). I believe the reason that this work is psychology. It makes you want to finish the tree and get coins, any brag you your friends about how many trees you planted. It puts pressure on you to not give up which I think is genius. Overall, this is probably one of my best purchases ever.

Consistent user since 2016, love it!. Hey forest team. I rarely ever post reviews, but I feel after this many years this app deserves my effort. I’ve been using this to help me focus since 2016 and have literally logged hundreds and hundreds of hours using this. It’s helped me with highschool, college, technical programs, and other courses. I’ve even used it to track my meditation and personal reading. I just want to say thank you. I have a ridiculously difficult time focusing thanks to a myriad of mental health issues that are quite literally out of my control. This app has been a game changer for me and I hope other people can have the same experience. I also just wanted to voice some issues that I’ve had with the app (not very many at al but I know your development team is strong and actually takes reviews seriously). One issue is with the friends feature. I’ve tried to get many people to join the app and plant trees with me but I feel like each time it’s pretty difficult. That process could maybe be a bit more streamlined? One more thing is I think that I’ve noticed the app slow down as I’ve been using it. Maybe it’s because how much data I have logged in it? Not sure. It doesn’t affect the functionality too much but just something I’ve noticed. All in all, hands down the best app I’ve had the pleasure of using. Again, thank you. If I could give more the 5 stars I would.

Great app. I love this that it helps me stay focused and I can get enough of it you get trees and depending on how long your focus for depends how many coins you get because every 20 minutes you get seven points but anything like 25 minutes or how are you hat you can plant a tree anything lower than 25 minutes is a bush and any cool events you get cool trees the best part is is that you can’t buy anything but you can’t pay for coins you can’t cheat so the only way to get coins is you have to play the app for a while and it’s not technically a gameTechnically it’s not a game but such a cool thing to have if you’re having trouble staying focused like me I would totally recommend this app but anyone who is looking for a game to play don’t take this up but if your having a little bit of trouble I suggest taking a try at it it will be deafly worth the while of two box rather than going for the cheaper version the free one which was Flor at no offense but the only way you can login is my Facebook but this one is much more accurate and definitely the more original version I would’ve definitely done this if this was definitely free but it still worth two dollars you pay at the very beginning I would totally go for this app if you are really need some help focusing.

100% Worthy Investment. I do not buy apps. Ever. It is against my religion. However, there was a quiz made by this app going around Twitter that told people what kind of plant they were. It was Pure™, so I looked into the app itself. When you need to get something done, you just set the timer and start planting a tree. I am an AWFUL procrastinator. I am procrastinating right now by writing this review. I can rarely be successfully guilted into not procrastinating. But when you leave this app, the tree you planted starts to die. Nothing has ever motivated me to stay off my phone more than a pixelated tree’s life in my hands. The app will even play soothing music while your tree grows. Everything about the aesthetic of this app is amazing and it actually works, if you find yourself saying “I’ll just text this person back really quick” then end up scrolling Twitter 30 minutes later. PLUS you can help plant real trees. 10/10 a great app, definitely worth the $1.99.

Great for studying. Honestly, I’m the type of person who just suddenly goes on my phone or laptop in the middle of doing homework, projects, etc. It’s especially been a problem since this new school year started. This app has helped me quite a lot, though sometimes I forget to plant a tree before I begin completing assignments. It’s helped with decreasing the amount of time I spend on schoolwork, and makes me feel like I’m doing so much more. Whenever I do reach over to my phone and am about to do something besides studying, like scrolling through Instagram, I’d open it and see the tree on my screen. Then, I’d ask myself, “Do I really want the tree to die?” I’d say no. In the beginning of using this app, I was always close to using my phone while the tree is growing. I began to develop a mentality after a few days that I should finish my homework before going on my phone and do other things. Of course, I sometimes still do it when I don’t use Forest, but I feel as if I’ve lessened the amount. This is the first productivity app I’ve used, and I’ve always seen people recommend it. It’s definitely an app worth the money. You can use it on your laptop or computer as well, as a Chrome extension (which is what I started out with). It’s simple to use, and has a minimalistic aesthetic that I really enjoy. Overall, it’s a great app.

Got it for the cute interface, stayed for the productivity increase. I’ve only been using this app for around a week, but it’s already cut down on the amount of time I absent-mindedly use my phone. Initially I got it mostly for how cute the little forests look, I’ll admit, and for the fact that earning enough in-game currency lets you plant a REAL tree! Now, it even helps me keep my phone away when going to bed (a big hurdle for me), since I set it to the longest break setting (2 hr) as I’m laying down. Obviously, how people use their phone-free time will vary. For me, it’s allowed (forced?) me to eat my meals uninterrupted by scrolling, and I’ve begun creating art more frequently again (as I would always get stuck in the loop of “looking for inspiration” on my phone and then never actually getting to the art). Honestly this is the best app I’ve ever paid money for (and one of the very few I shelled out cash for period), and it’s been completely worth it. If you spend upwards of 4 hours a day on your phone (like I was doing), I highly recommend taking this app into consideration!

Pay to focus. My experience of this app is that the limited variety of plants available at the start is unappealing and the cost of coins for purchasing new trees is too high. Having to begin with Christmas trees, coral, bushes, and seals is very confusing to me, and I would much rather preferred aspens, white pines, maples, etc. This poor variety makes you want to buy more plants right way but to do so you need coins of course. This results in my having to constantly pick up my phone and reset the focus for every activity during my day in order to accumulate enough coins to actually purchase the trees to plant a forest with and variety or just trees. This is both tedious and distracting in and of itself which is ironic given the apps purpose. This process can be sped it up by purchasing elixirs from the store of course. maybe I’m too frugal, but I have an adverse reaction to paying for an app, and then being nickel and dimed to make the app more functional and appealing and the lack of variety to promote pay to focus is off turning. Lastly, the daily tiles don’t give one a sense of a Forest, more a wooded lot. I suggest having a visual of the daily tiles connected to one another to show an larger dicpiction of one’s Forest that has grown over time, which would be satisfying.

Title (Haha, review is more serious than my title). I absolutely love this app. I fee really motivated to work when I use it. Even if I’m not being productive, I’m still working on something when I use it. I love how you can cancel a tree without killing it for the first 10 seconds after planting one, but I really wish that time was longer for bigger trees. It would be pretty helpful. The biggest moment for me was when it came time for me to kill my first tree. I really didn’t want to kill it, but I hadn’t been working. If I hadn’t chopped it down, it would’ve opened the floodgates for me. The main difficulty for me is starting to grow my tree. If I don’t start it, I don’t have to be productive. I’ve had this app for under a month and I’ve already recommended it to a few people, who have all said it was really helpful. I definitely think this app is worth a try, and I love the little changes that come out every one in a while. Gotta go, my math homework is waiting!

A beautiful way to stay focused. I got this app after seeing a really cool quiz on Twitter that was about what kind of tree/flora you are/like/etc. I had downloaded it a while back, and didn’t pay much attention to it until now. I have made in-app purchases, (which I usually forbid myself from doing for apps,) because the variety of trees you can plant while focusing and the amount of different relaxing sounds has made me fall in love with Forest! I feel a pang of guilt when I pick up my phone and deviate from the forest telling me that my tree/s will die if I quit focusing LOL it’s actually been extremely helpful for me to keep track of my study time, I never realized how often I am distracted by notifications, text messages, etc, and Forest has helped me stay on track in the most interesting and beautiful way. I love the timer and Deep Focus Mode feature, I really owe the amount of work I’ve been able to complete to Forest.

100% RECOMMEND!!!. If you are on the fence about buying this app, take this as a sign to purchase and download it. This app is so fun and motivating. I have tried other methods like the Pomodoro technique, but it doesn’t seem to work. However, as someone who sometimes has trouble staying focused and getting things done, this app is helpful than one may realize. I love plants so this app is definitely for me. I get excited once I have planted things in my forest and sometimes don’t even feel like I am working because I am motivated to make my plants and forest grow. And I am disappointed when one of my plants die. Maybe it is just me but I also love how I am encouraged by receiving coins, which I can use to buy different types of other beautiful plants of my choice (which just motivates me even more). I love the aesthetic of the app and don’t know where I would be without this app. I spend A LOT of time on my phone, so the Deep Focus setting that kills my plant if I exit the Forest app is amazing. Because I hate seeing my plants die. I hold my forest in my heart and love watching it get bigger and bigger. The app is the best. It helps me get my work done while keep it stress free, light and fun.

This is the only app I’ve ever truly loved. I’ve never reviewed an app before, but I love this app so much. I downloaded it after my previous pomodoro timer app, tide, stopped timing correctly, which was literally all it had to do. The timer on this app works, with reliable notifications, and the “gamification” of being focused may seem silly, but it adds a cute and fun element to using a pomodoro timer. Also, the ability to tag how I spend my time (ex: work vs all other things) is an easy way to stay balanced. For instance, I can see if I’m falling behind on daily meditating even if it’s something I’m not conscious of. I can also see someone using this app not necessarily to boost concentration but as a way to literally bar yourself from using your phone for periods of time when you need to be present (ex: during a meeting or with a friend). One more thing I love: I just finished a project that took two months, and I went back and looked at my little forests for that time. Each lil tree helped me get that project done. It’s such a beautiful reminder that everything big happens with many tiny steps!

Love it!! Please add forest animals. This mom is completely addicted to this app, I’ve been using it since July, and so have my kids. I love the idea of this app and find it so helpful to just tell the kids to Go Grow a Tree if they need a break or need to finish homework. Here’s my problem - I’ve unlocked almost everything except for a couple trees I really don’t like. While I could just keep growing different combinations of trees and bushes, what I really wish I could do is to add forest animals. I’d like to be able to earn various forest animals to my existing forests, or maybe start with the animals some times and then add the trees, or add a couple trees and sprinkle animals in. For the shorter time frames smaller animals like birds, butterflies, bunnies, lizards, squirrels, bats, etc. and for the longer time animals like deer, elk, wild pigs, and other regular animals found in the forest. I think the animal options here are endless and also would really make the forests look cool. The animals would just “grow” exactly like the trees and bushes do. The animals should match the various kinds of trees that are available. Some regular, some tropical (for palm tree), etc. Any chance of animals coming soon? Also the smaller animals should cost less coins and the bigger ones more coins. I find it annoying that currently the bushes cost the same as the trees. They are smaller and therefore shouldn’t cost the same as the larger trees.

Perfect for students who just can’t focus!. I’m a high school student, and I use this app when I have to study or take notes. For those of you who aren’t interested in reading a really long review, here’s my summary: This app wards off distractions and is a perfect way to keep yourself focused! The in-app purchases are not at all necessary (I haven’t felt even the slightest bit tempted to spend money), so you should definitely give this app a try! Here’s the longer explanation: I originally heard about Forest from a friend after I told her how I was struggling to avoid getting distracted. It seemed like every time I tried to sit down and start working, a new notification popped up on my screen- whether it was a text message, an email, or a game alert- and I couldn’t stay focused. I love this app because it helps me stay on track and get work done. With the adorable game design aside, using this app is just super gratifying! Of course, the tiny trees are cute and it’s fun to grow your own forest, but this app isn’t just aesthetically pleasing: it’s extremely functional. It allows me to focus, avoid distractions, and succeed in school. There’s nothing you need to buy in order to use the app, so just download it and give it a try! If it doesn’t work for you, then you can just delete it, but it might end up being super useful for you, just as it was for me!

BEST INVESTMENT EVER OMG. I hardly ever write reviews for apps, but I seriously LOVE forest! The whole app is very intuitive and they seem to be very invested in making sure the customer actually enjoys the product. They’re also always releasing new features so if you’re super ambitious and have bought all the trees, there will always be new options for you. I have two absolute favorite features. One is the break timer—you set it for a few minutes, and then it sends you a notification reminder when it’s time to start working again. It’s like a customizable form of the pomodoro method because unlike other apps you can choose exactly how long you want different intervals to be. The other feature which was just introduced recently is the stopwatch feature! My issue with selecting a time beforehand was that I didn’t know how long a particular task was going to take, and I prefer to do large chunks all at once. This way, I can do the hard part of starting a task and putting down my phone without having to fit my tasks into pre determined increments. Some people might just pick up their phone again right after the initial required 10 minutes have passed, but i feel like this feature allows me to work more because I don’t feel like I’m making a huge commitment to not touch my phone for 45 minutes. Overall, fantastic app and 100% recommend!

Excellent app. This app is really good. I’m a student who uses my phone way too much and this app has both made me aware of that and helped me spend less time on my phone. It takes a while to get new trees but I don’t even care because you start out with 2 or 3 anyway. I like to use different types of trees for different activities. As someone who enjoys nature but doesn’t have much opportunity to be in it, I’m very drawn to the forest aspect. I also like how you can see your forest for the day, week, month, or year. My ONE suggestion so far would be to have a feature that counts up instead of down; either that or a way to continue the same tree immediately after the timer goes off assuming you’re still focusing. If I’m focusing on reading I don’t always know how long it will take so if I set it for 25min and read for 45, I’d rather just extend the tree than have multiple smaller ones. Other than that this app is fantastic and I highly recommend. I’ll keep using it for sure.

Honestly a game-changer. Don’t get me wrong, my phone is a useful tool, and I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m addicted to it. However, it’s also a super easy way to waste time you don’t even realize you could be using on other things. I use Forest mostly in small increments, and it keeps me from picking up my phone whenever I have a few free minutes and get bored. Since I don’t actually need or want to be on my phone, the small motivation of growing little bushes and trees is enough for me to direct my attention elsewhere- and it turns out that those few free minutes throughout the day can translate into a lot of extra productivity! Otherwise: initial download price might seem a bit high, but considering that they plant real trees if you make enough coins to buy the option, the $2 is warranted. Coin prices in the app are average, but payment per tree during the week is okay and you can make enough yourself with a little effort (I personally think you should make a little more per tree than they offer, but it’s not a bad amount either). The interface is simple and intuitive, the art is charming and stylistically uniform, and my favorite part- the white noise options- are incredibly helpful for studying and neither overly expensive or so complicated that they become distracting. All in all, great app that I use frequently. $2 has never bought me so much extra productivity.

Was great, but updates have ruined it. I first downloaded this app in early 2022 and it worked exactly as advertised and did exactly what I needed. Strongly discouraged phone distractions and improved productivity. Now in the last couple of months I found I’ve been able to browse all my other apps on my phone without the usual consequences: no more notification telling me to stop, and no more withered dead tree. This defeats the purpose of having the app. There are several people on Reddit and other platforms complaining of the exact same problem! What’s the point of this app if it fails at a core feature? The “deep focus” mode doesn’t work, and in any case, having to mess around with Allowed Apps lists is too complicated (and according to my research, doesn’t work on iPhones anyway!) The updates are a failure. Give us the old version back. If not, I’ll probably delete soon, and look for something better.

Definitely worth it. This app is definitely worth the money! I was a bit hesitant when I first saw it, and I thought it seemed counterintuitive, but it is so useful for studying- I don't know what I'd do without it. Once you set a timer, you can't leave the app or the tree will die, meaning that you're less likely to go on social media or games to procrastinate. Knowing that you have a timer also makes you want to stay focused rather than zoning out, and there is a sense of pride when you see how long you've managed to stay focused for. I managed to study for about three hours on one of the days and didn't feel emotionally or mentally drained because of the ability to set a rest-time timer. I really liked the rest timer because it doesn't let you add more time on once it's up so you can't be tempted to say "just five minutes more" and then not get back to work. When I wasn't using the app, I would procrastinate for hours and relax when I needed to study, but as soon as it was on I got heaps done. I really recommend the app.

My kids love it!. My kids (6 and 7 y.o) saw me creating my own forest and became very curious about the app. I let them to play around a bit and they got very excited about the whole idea. So I downloaded it onto iPads and the results are amazing. I've added tags like "outdoor play" "reading" "sports" "chores". "Morning routine" etc If the kids start getting distracted I warn them that will have to "cancel" (kill) the growing tree. That keeps them very motivated. Less time In front of TV and more time for outdoor play, reading, piano. Also we added each other to friends and can see our trees growing, do one task together. Very happy to find a way to motivate girls and make them focus on a task!

Amazing!. Like most people I most definitely have problems focusing on a task at hand when my phone is beside me, but I also often need it beside me if I’m not home/ if i put it in another room I’ll still go and grab it. The beauty of this app is that not only do I have a lot of incentive to not be distracted, but I can also log the amount of hours I’ve studied every day, and write a description of everything I got done. This is great to have a reference of exactly how much study/work I get done, and what I’ve finished instead of writing it all down on a different piece of paper. This has most definitely been my most valuable purchase on the App Store! Would highly recommend!! Thanks Forest team.

Surprisingly effective. I didn’t think it was worth an actual app just to tell me to split up my study time into easy blocks, but I decided to give it a go after reading the reviews. It definitely reminds me to stay focused and not get distracted by a notification or a random thought leading to a loss of time accidentally scrolling through social media or messaging friends. The only thing I would change is to have a more clear notification for the end of each session. I can get too involved in lectures or videos which means I’m not using the music provided & I never notice when the time is up. I end up going too far over time and feel a bit like a zombie/consume too much content and it’s a bit of a wasted session. If it could flash on and vibrate to notify me of the end of the time, that would give it 5/5 from me.

Definitely Helped Me. Got this app sometime early this year, and I love it. Helps me focus on my work, and growing my forest is a great motivator. Also tracks the amount of hours you’ve focused on a particular activity. I usually use this for studying, and drawing. However, I wish the app on iPadOS was landscape view option, especially that pretty much every iPad has keyboard support. I also wish that it would sync passively, instead of manually syncing it with my phone. Other than that, love it and wouldn’t get anything else. With every cent

Really helpful, still require self discipline. So I’ve been using this app for quite a while now since it was recommended at a study skills talk at my school. I downloaded it immediately, and since then I’ve found it extremely helpful when I’m trying to knuckle down and get things done. It really gives you the incentive to work for the entire duration of the timer, and then you get a nice pay off afterwards. The only thing to note is that you need to have the discipline and drive to actually use it, and use it to its full potential. You may be tempted to just not set the timer and trust yourself, or you might want to have a quick look at something and so you let your tree die. Otherwise, wonderful app, perfect for students who struggle with procrastination and distractions (such as myself).

Wow. I will be honest, I wasn’t sure how much I would like this app, but I got it during online schooling because I thought it might help me stay on track. It is so worth it, not only do you need to stay on track to grow trees, but the longer you focus, the more money you get to buy other trees, which I love. Just one small thing, on the chrome extension (which is also so cool) it would be nice if you could change the formatting, I cannot access a tree I bought on my phone on my Mac, but other than that, seriously a great app!!!

Really good! Some suggestions though:. First thing out of the way, this a very good app if you struggle with motivation and distraction to help you stay focussed for short or long bursts of time. Is worth the 3 bucks. However, some features I believe would improve the experience are: - a way to pause the timer if you need to exit the app for something that doesn’t kill the tree. I guess you could see this as cheating but if you cheat then you’re only really cheating yourself so... This would be extremely helpful for that moment when you’re working on an assignment and suddenly realise that you need the photos you took on your phone which means you can’t continue working on it without killing the tree - cheaper trees or greater rewards. It takes a ridiculous amount of time to reach 500 coins and hence kind of takes away the incentive to work towards earning them. Thanks for reading! Hopefully this was helpful

An excellent concept. I have problems focussing and this app is definitely an excellent reminder clock. I would rather pay AUD$5.99 or the like to unlock all the trees, bushes and sounds. It seems it would take a large amount of usage and consistently paying for elixir to unlock the ones I want. While I understand this is a good way to build a habit, the developers clearly don’t understand common game mechanics. I’m a lot less likely to stick with using this app if the quickest way to setup the study environment I desire (tree and sounds I want) involves paying over and over for elixir only to have the silly price increase after each purchase! Try looking into Logarithmic Curves for reward systems instead of constantly making us pay over and over (food for thought).

This actually works. I am the worst procrastinator of all time. Trust me. If I have a few hours to do something that takes a day, I’ll still waste half my time doing unrelated stuff. That usually involves being on my phone and on social media or messaging people. This app really works. I set it for short times like 30 minutes and then set myself a short break of 5-10 minutes. I often find myself checking my phone before the 30 minutes is up but seeing the message telling me to put down my phone actually makes me stop because I can see there isn’t long to go and I know there will be a break coming soon. Just try it. As long as you set the timer it works. Also, no technical issues. Great little app.

Very helpful for people who need help in focusing. For me I wanted to focus more on other things that enjoyed me and that needed to be done. It helps me knows what I need to do and stay focusing when working, but also help me find my old joy in the things that I used to love. I love reading and this ended up helping me focus in a way that is helpful and yet entertaining for the individual. Growing plants while focusing on the task at hand makes me feel achieve as I know I am getting things done but also allowing to be planting trees and bushes to grow my tiny forest. I would recommend this app for people who are trying to spend less time on their phone and for people who are looking to get help on focusing on other things that matter more than their phone.

Intriguingly calming. A very simplistically artistic application. It helps with distraction as it makes you almost feel bad that you don’t let your tree grow. I also love the idea that taking a break from your phone, regardless the intent, can be used to help regrow trees. The group function of this app is also very helpful as it increases the amount of trees grown and it also promotes distraction free group activities such as study. Study is in my opinion the best use for this app as I sit down knowing I am doing something good for myself, the environment and my phone battery :) I also love how much more control it’s given me when it comes to impulsively opening snaps or messages from colleagues, now I just let the notifications roll in and feel really good about it.

Changed the app on an update- now totally useless. I’ve sadly had to change my rating. This app WAS amazing, so helpful at keeping me focused for uni study and not looking at social media. However, NOW it’s basically useless. They have updated the app so that now, when you exit the app, nothing happens. Your tree doesn’t die, you can use whatever other apps you want. They say it wasn’t working on iOS, yet I never had an issue before. Now, you need to turn on “deep focus” mode in order for it to work as it did before. This requires a passcode (no idea why you’d need that) so if you don’t want one or can’t use one (which I can not), too bad. Totally changed the app, no longer what was signed up for.

INCREDIBLE… just AMAZING. Before I used to struggle a lot with managing my study time as I would always sit down to study and then find myself still sitting on Tik Tok and Instagram an hour later. This app should definitely be over $50 for how much it has helped me. I am absolutely obsessed with the cute trees and plants and the study sounds are amazing! I can’t stop going on about this app and talking about it to everyone I see. Would 100% recommend, even if you don’t struggle with screen time. It also helps with tracking and managing study hours. Believe me, the small price of $7 is worth it!

Better than expected!. I bought forest because simply because I was at my wits end - with myself and my inability to stay OFF my phone while studying at uni. I wasn’t expecting much but thought it was worth a try. If you want to make a change then this will be the app for you! It’s honestly helped me so much. Whenever I decide I need to do focus I start using it. I also find it useful as you can label your times so I know how many hours I’ve spent studying on a subject during the week. Thank you guys! It’s awesome.

Amazing app. This app is actually amazing and has helped me prioritise certain tasks that need to be finished. Other than that, it has helped me to minimise my time with studying different task each day. Instead of not balancing my study time on different task, this app helps me identify how much time I should spend on a task. It motivates me to actually study more since I get a tree at the end. What I love about it the most is how when you start studying, there is a rain noise in the back ground that you can either listen to. And it is optional, but I always listen to it because it is very relaxing and you can focus properly. This app is extremely helpful. I mostly recommend it, it’s worth the money.

Can’t believe it works!. I’ve struggled to stay away from my phone during times where I can choose to study. Staying on top of homework was a struggle and I always wanted to do better but just couldn’t stick to the habit. I heard about forrest from a professional and me being a natural greeny I just had to check it out. Now I have a fun forrest and all my homework completed thanks to this app giving me a fun reason to stay focused. Also I’m super excited for the BTS trees.

Amazing. This app is great! It lets you pick the amount of time for your breaks and each session instead of being stuck on 5 and 25 minutes respectively like other similar apps. It’s so motivating to see other people on the global charts and I love that the coins earned in the game are able to be used to plant a real tree. I struggle with motivating myself to study and being able to help the environment even by a small amount has really helped to motivate me. It is better than other apps which are similar and well worth the money.

Forest freed me from slavery to my phone. Such a good app, so versatile and so many customizable settings, so every user can tailor the app to use it however they like. The graphics are aesthetic and clean, it’s easy to use. It is very effective in helping me stay off of social media or games when I need to study, I also have used the app to help me stay off my phone when I eat to practice mindful eating - so I focus on my food and enjoy it and I don’t overeat. I am very proud of my trees and my forest. It is so rewarding. There’s also forest sounds that you can use for white noise. Amazing!

Pretty darn great.. Lovely indeed. I struggled to focus at all before, but the incentive of the cute little tree is all I need to keep focusing. Pairing this with their other app waterdo is also really useful! My one issue like other people have mentioned though is that the coins for cosmetics are also the coins used for planting real trees. I think they should be different currencies so people can still have the option of getting new in game trees without feeling bad that they’re not planting real ones, because they wasted the coins on in game skins basically.

AMAZING APP (I have a suggestion). This app is amazing! It really gets me studying and prevents me from procrastinating (I’m the ceo of it!). I use the app everyday after school and on weekends. Despite loving the app, I do have a fewww suggestions! For the global leaderboard you should have two sections. One for uni students and the other for people still in school. Atm the people on the leaderboard do like 12 hours of study a day. This is legit impossible for a high school student considering we are at school 6 hours everyday. So by having two different leaderboards it will give high school students the opportunity to compete with each other and actually make the leaderboard!!

Better than a cup of coffee. Honestly the best decision I’ve made in the lead up to my exams. I’ve had it on my computer for a while and bit the bullet and purchased the app. For the price of coffee it’s absolutely more valuable. Love love love it. Especially the timed study break function too, keeps me in check and I’ve found I’ve just naturally been more productive and less reliant on my phone whether the apps on or not, but a great safety net to get me started! Plus, I’ve put a few of my friends on it and we’re growing forests together which is fun and keeps us on track

Love the iPhone app but the watch app isn't working. When I open the watch app (watch series 3 and iPhone xs with all latest updates) you see the Forest grid and when I tap on that it just says "start planting today!". But there's no way to start planting on the watch app (without going to the phone to start). Which kind of makes the watch app of minimal if any use if you have to have the phone right there to start it? The whole point of the series 3 and 4 Apple watches is that they can be used independently of the phone. If I'm getting it wrong or misunderstanding how it works then I'm happy to change the review. Otherwise maybe replace "start planting today" with "open the app on your phone to start planting"? One tip if possible for the phone app is to allow a whitelist of apps. One of the tasks I do is reading and use Kindle on my phone for that. However the app kills the tree everytime I do that task. However I understand if the limitations of ios means that you can't whitelist.

Incredible app!. Amazing app. I use it when I am doing my homework and it sets a clear time limit of when I should be doing my work. You can play relaxing rainforest sounds in the background. It helps me stop playing on my phone while doing homework. The one thing I would change is when I am in deep focus mode and I get a text from someone, I cannot answer them even if important or my tree will die. I wish that I could choose certain apps that I would be alllowed to be on while working that wouldn’t kill my tree. Otherwise very good app and worth the money.

Awesome!. This app honestly is the best thing I have downloaded! Not only does it help me to study or focus on something important, it is also is a good way to stop using my phone so much! Too often these days my head is in my phone and I realise I’m missing out on the little things. Not wanting to let my little trees die is a huge encourager to keep off my phone and get back to whatever it is I was supposed to be doing. I also love the fact that there is the option to plant really trees! I think this is a fantastic project and also encourages me to keep planting trees so that I can eventually plant a real tree! Thank you heaps!

Pretty good app. Would recommend. The app is actually really helpful. I’m a teenager that would much rather be gaming than doing my uni study but with this app it’s kind of rewarding you. And too think that once I grow enough trees and get enough coins I can grow a tree in the real world is kind of a way of giving back. I would recommend this to parents that have kids like me and maybe reward them with something physical like a meal or a drink or something. Like say you grow three trees, then they can have some drinks with you or go to that party they wanted to go.

Amazing app and so helpful!. This app is so simple but amazing. It helps me all the time to stay off my phone for a certain task and stay focused in the moment, and I’m motivated by the fact that if I succeed I’ll have a beautiful tree to add to a lovely forest and I don’t want to kill a tree. It’s a great visual for the time I’ve focussed. Also this app is amazing because after a certain amount of time focussed and coins made (I think it’s 5000?), trees are planted in real life! The people behind this app seem so lovely and like they care about both the individual using the app, and the greater picture for human well-being and the environment.

I love this app. This app is great if you have trouble staying focused! Like me, I always procrastinate and I don’t get my work done. But this app has helped me get all my work done! 😀 I recommend this AMAZING app to those who procrastinate a lot. Because it motivates you to do work. For example when you leave the app your tree dies! 😩 that’s what I like about it. It gives you a goal to set. This app is also helpful for you to be social and to not be on you phone all the time. Which is good for me because I am that person! Haha 😂 I really recommend this app to lots of people who like to procrastinate!

Fantastic for studying. Studying for medical exams. This app is excellent for helping discipline. It gamifies time spent studying also with a nice feeling building of a forest. It’s definitely led me to study more than I would have without it and helps with a sense of satisfaction. I find being able to ‘tag’ activities one of the best features, and have used that to keep track of what subjects I am studying most, and will keep an eye out to make sure I’m doing a bit of everything relatively evenly, by looking the pie chart that is automatically produced by this. Worth it.

It’s counterintuitive, but it works. I was a bit sceptical about using an app to wean me off IT - but Forest’s main message (‘Stay focussed’) is what it really delivers on. Like having a personal trainer at the gym, it gently encourages you to stay with a sustained task (reading, writing, editing, whatever) without giving in too soon. ‘Just four more minutes ... just three more minutes.’ The app started me at 25 minutes and I’m now stretching that to longer periods of sustained focus (like adding more weights to a familiar routine at the gym). The tree-planting reward? A bit goofy, but at least it’s a fun way to show yourself how many sustained sessions you’ve achieved in a day. The other stats are helpful little rewards too.

Great app!!. This app helped me focus a lot more when studying. I was a bit unsure of paying money for this app, but it is completely worth it!! I used to always pick up my phone during studying to socialise or play games, but now I have no need to because Forest encourages me to stay focused! I would recommend this app to all students who need help to focus, or even just to get off your devices for a certain amount of time! I would also like to suggest two new features. Firstly, it would be nice to be able to decrease but mainly increase the time when you are using it because sometimes I do homework for longer than expected. And secondly, it would be amazing to be able to use study apps such as google classroom or restricted google use (maybe like a category based list like Apple screen time). An easy way of doing this, would be to add a way to edit a list of apps or categories you are allowed to use during the time when you are studying. Thanks so much!

The day has finally come!!!. The day has finally come where I can actually focus on my work. This includes studying, homework and assessments. The great thing about Forest is that it makes you work for something as well as helping you complete everything you have to do. In the app you want to keep your tree/bush alive, and the way to do this is to focus on whatever you have to focus on without getting distracted (or in my case procrastinate). I think this app is a great way to stay focussed as well having a rewarding experience!

Productivity Has Increased. I am a year 12 student and I’ve been using this app for about a month now and I have to say it has really increased my productivity. It’s definitely worth the money and it’s especially motivating to see how long you’ve spent studying each subject and to personalise your Forest. It’s an amazing app and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to boost the number of hours they work everyday. It’s good that I can’t exit the app or pause the timer so it really pushes me to continue doing work. The only suggestion I would recommend is that I want to be able to change tags halfway in the timer, incase I want to switch to a different subject.

definitely worth the money!! amazing!. i love love love this app! i, like many others, suffer from procrastinating when im supposed to be doing work. although it costs like $2, it is definitely worth the money. not only does it help u to stay off ur phone when working, it also helps u focus with relaxing sounds like rain. there is in-app money that u earn by growing trees. with the money u can buy new trees and new sounds. u can also track your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly progress as well! what i think is one of the best parts of this app is that once u get a certain amount of coins, u can plant a REAL tree!! not only is it great for focusing on work, its helping the environment. all around, amazing app!! well done! 👏👏💗💗

Great app. I love this app and use it all the time, though I have a couple of suggestions on how it would be better. Something that I think would be an amazing addition to it would be if you can choose which apps that you can access without killing the tree. Sometimes there are specific apps that I need on my phone which I want to access while the timer’s on but I would still like other apps blocked. Another thing which would be great is if it was more compatible with the Apple Watch. At the moment you can’t plant trees on the Apple Watch and there’s very limited that you can do on it.

Impressed. I realllllly recommend this app, I was hesitant at first about getting it because I don’t like buying apps often. But it’s super useful, it helps me get back on track whenever I’m thinking of going to Instagram. It also gives you breaks which is very handy, and it has a button that allows you to listen to relaxing music. It tracks how long you focused that day, but the part I liked was that the app is laid out super clearly and not confusing. Overall if you’re a student who procrastinates and is always super stressed out the day before your homework or project’s due I really think this is the best app you can get.

Great. I love this app!! This is the first app I actually bought with money so that tells that I really did like this!!! But one thing I would change is instead of a notification there should be an alarm to tell you that time is up. Now I constantly have to look at the phone and keep it by me to see if the times up, and if it’s not by me then a lot of time passes by. For that reason I gave you guys 4/5. So please change the notification/alarm option. Maybe you can put in an option for people to have a notification or an alarm. Sorry this was so long!!

Great. I’ve struggled with studying and doing work for the longest time possible. Once I’ve cracked open a textbook I always seem to miraculously have a phone in my hand. With Forest, I’ve been able to focus on my work and be more productive overall. However, I still have problems with procrastination and finding something to motivate myself to start studying. I always push study time until the last minute. Perhaps Forest should start a system to encourage people to START and FINISH as well, like a login system with daily gifts? Or alarms? All in all, a great app. Save time and save the forests too!

So helpful, thanks Forest!. I’ve been using the app only for a few days, but it’s already motivated me so much. Like a lot of people during this time, a lack of motivation has been really frustrating. This app encourages me to get off my backside and actually get stuff done. My one recommendation to the developers is to create some kind of pause button, in case someone interrupts you or you need a bathroom break or something, instead of having to ‘give up’ on your focus time. Apart from that, love it!

Perfect. I was ecstatic to get this app for the longest time. What is there to critique? It does everything it promises, and even surpasses these at times! Anyone hesitant about “splurging” for it should put their minds at ease - it’ll definitely be a purchase you won’t regret. Request for next update: I’ve fallen in love with the app’s ability to track phone usage and I would really love to see other features added to this idea. For me, personally, I would love to be able to customise a “time limit” where I receive a notification if I use my phone for more than I intended to. Thank you for your wonderful app, be proud of yourselves for making such a sleek, functioning execution of a brilliant app idea. Cheers!

Oddly satisfying and useful. I have found this to be quite useful. For some reason, I feel the need to actually be very productive when using this app. Even though I use my laptop for internet study, I close all social media apps as I feel guilty using them while growing a tree on my phone. Using a timer lets me focus for a period of time and then I give myself a ten minute break and start again. This is the only study app that I have found that helps me to be productive and it’s strangely satisfying to watch my forest grow. Love it.

Love It...but.... Love the app. Extremely helpful especially during the exam periods to prevent myself from procrastinating. Also love the friends feature. Only issue is that I wish the app could sync across multiple devices, rather than me having to start a timer on each individual device. As currently even if I have the Forest app activated on my phone, I get around it by procrastinating on my laptop or on my iPad. If there was a feature that could let me choose to activate Forest on the one device or select the devices I want to stop using. Overall it is a very good app that has helped a lot.

Amazing but bug error causing my tree to wilt. I have only had this app for a few days after seeing lots of really good reviews from people with ADHD. I have been so excited to use it and today for the first ever time after finally beating procrastination, I think I have finally found something to not only help me focus but motivate me to actually get started studying! I study on my MacBook and use my phone for forest next to me. It was all going really well until I took a screenshot on my Mac, then the forest app closed itself after around 10 minutes of focus. I wasn’t sure why at the time so I started again, took another screenshot and the same thing happened. I’m not sure if it’s an Apple glitch with the two being linked or if it’s a forest glitch, but it was quite disheartening 😢 I don’t want to turn off the deep focus (leaving the app will cause the tree to wilt) as that keeps me motivated! Great app and I’m excited to keep using it but I hope this issue resolves!

Fantastic!. This app is SO good. I bought it this afternoon with the hope that I can manufacture some focus in my adult ADHD brain. I’ve completed two plants so far and I can’t wait to start my day tomorrow to use it for a full day. I love that there is also an option of planting real trees with our earned coins too. I’ve set a revenue goal for my business as well, so that when I reach the goal, I will reward myself by buying one of the premium boosters. I would love to be able to move the different types of trees around, or maybe have a veggie or flower garden option with movable plants, but other than that I think this app is FANTASTIC and worth every penny. Thank you so much!

Easy to use, and effective. Forest is easily my favourite productive style app. For a one time payment of three dollars you get a lot of features. You can either set a timer or do the deep focus mode. With the timer you set a time in which you have to be productive on a certain task. I love the new deep focus mode. Sometimes getting into the flow of task rather than saying you are going to do it for a certain amount of time is easier for me. They are so many cute species of trees that you have to earn money to buy and it’s fun because it gives you something to look forward to. I really love this app

Planting Real Trees?. The only reason why I don’t rate this app 5 stars is because, it takes a long, long time to get the 2,500 coins in order to plant a real tree. I’ve had the app for quite some time and have only planted one real tree from the app. And also the fact that certain ‘virtual’ trees cost 500 coins, and therefore I’d rather not buy the virtual trees because it takes so long to even get 500 coins, let alone another 2000 to plant a real tree. I would suggest that there be two different currencies/points, so coins go towards buying virtual trees, and diamonds or something go towards planting real trees, so that you’re able to both have the fun of having a decorative forest as well as the main reason of the app, for doing your bit to plant trees. And hopefully as well get double points for working an extra hour or something, make it more exciting and be able to earn coins easier. Thanks

No other app like it. I recently have installed Forest, and in my first few focus sessions I was a little confused, as I could close the app and use other distracting apps. Needless to say I was a little disappointed. However, I discovered a feature called “deep focus”, which blocks all apps except the ones you allow, which was a game breaker to me. I don’t know of any other app that does this. I would highly recommend this app and it is definitely worth the money.

This app is a game changer. I’ve been using this app for about 3-4 years now and it’s about time I reviewed. Honestly at times (especially during covid) I’d be lost without it. Having always had a bad tendency of using my phone too excessively, once I flick this on I feel like I have some obligation to not cheat on myself and complete the set time. I’ve been using this during my studies, at work and to maximise my weekends more. Even at times when you really want to procrastinate and try to cheat the app, it’s pretty much impossible and your tree will die. Couldn’t give a more positive review of this app.

A way to see your progress. Pomodoro method, if your looking at this app you’ve probably considered the pomodoro method 25 mins of solid work and break... Well for some it’s easier said then done, as Uni student I pretty much get everything set up to study and have all the intent but honestly procrastination bug bites and first I check my phone for emails justifying that it’s fine then 5 mins later in checking Snapchat and binging Netflix... I think the app is a great solution to helping you stay focused by removing one more distraction and at the end of it you feel good you might not have done the best bit of study but maybe you started and that’s all the counts plus you have your forest something to show your efforts.

Great app plus it's only a one time purchase. Lowers my screen time quite well and really helps for studying

Great app !!. So good

So good. 10/10 love this app. It makes me so productive.

Lol. Forced to write review

Works!. It truly motivates me to study! I want to plant a real tree so bad that I actually enjoy doing homework with this app haha

Crashes. Not sure why, but the app always crashes when I try to open it. Currently unusable unfortunately.

Flora is a better app and it’s free. Flora is a better app and it’s free

So far so good!. Great app so far!

i am actually studying!. get this if your a uni student studying for exams. !!if you want those trees you got to study and i want those trees!

Aggravating. The app is a great idea, and has a really cute premise. After a few hours with it, though, I had to uninstall it. It wasn’t worth the aggravation. The problem is it isn’t sophisticated enough to differentiate between work and recreation. If I suddenly remember I need to reschedule a meeting in the calendar app, I should be able to do that without killing my tree. This might be an OS limitation, but if so they could have found some way around it, through different mechanics. There’s no way to pause cycles. If you need to have a messenger conversation about plans later that day, your tree is dying, no way around it. There might be some way using the in-game currency, but it shouldn’t need that. Why is there even a currency system for a pomodoro timer?? I get that companies like making money by selling you ephemeral nonsense, but they charge for the basic things you’d use the app for. Its messaging is also really harsh. “Go back to forest immediately!” is pushed when you change apps. While in the app, it says things like “stop looking at me!”. And yet it’s hard not to look at it, as things keep changing/moving onscreen. By killing the tree and leaving its corpse in your field, they punish you for failing. I’d rather you just lost progress and had to restart planting that tree. I wish they focused more on positive reinforcement and less on punishment. I feel like they put a lot of effort into the aesthetics, making it cute and pretty, but not enough into user research and usability. I’d give it a 1-star in terms of how well it accomplishes its goal. There are better pomodoro apps. But it is very pretty and there’s something soothing about seeing a field full of trees. It has the skeleton of a great app, but it’s not fleshed out.

Amazing. Gxgd

Review. Helps me focus fr

OK. one thing is bothering the hell out of me. The overtime timer only counts when the device is off. I thought it wasn’t working because i use my ipad to work (drawing) and it doesn’t count when i’m continuing to draw after the timer has gone off. gives me a very inaccurate time of how much i actually worked for.

Amazing App 👍👍. Using forest app is a great way to avoid distractions, when performing a particular task. It’s working well for me 👌👌👌

Don’t care about the app. I don’t care

Forest. Good

good. good

Aw Yea. I love this app. It’s increased my studying and I keeps me more focussed on my work and reduces my urges to go on my phone while studying. The only thing is, if you plan to satisfy for long periods of time (>1hr), there’s no option to take a break. If there is, I haven’t found it. If you know please tell me. I also really enjoy the fact that once you raise a certain amount of coins (you get coins the longer you study), it goes towards planting a real tree somewhere in the world. Which I think is something we really need right now #savetheamazon

A. Good app

Unknown. This is amazing it’s helping me stay productive

Plan a tree. Forest app

Really like the app. Really good app makes me feel bad when I kill my plant and it’s ugly in my garden so it really keeps me on track and not kill any plants so I can have a pretty garden.

You should use it. A good app. Help me control my time.

Great app!. 😎

Great for productivity. It really helps blocking the notifications and focus more on your work. I have seen a drastic change in my screen time since forest.

Great app for productivity!. It’s great that you can still allow certain apps to be used (iMessage, etc)!

Perfect for me!. Gamification is awesome, this app was recommended by chatgpt for my task/worker type.

Bon. Bien

Pausing. It’s a nice app and I really liked the coins system. The only thing I would say could improve is to have an option where you can pause your timer if you have something you need to do on your phone for two minutes (without killing your tree). Or to have an option to set short and long pomodoro rounds that automatically start. It would greatly help to stay focused because I wouldn’t have to set timers all the time and kill my tree whenever I need to take an important phone call.

Great.. Fun and useful. Seeing the plant grow keeps me motivated to continue focusing Too many in app ads though, especially when I’ve paid for the app already.

Amo!. Muito simples de usar, uma ótima forma de não se desconcentrar com as notificações do celular.

⚠️ They Track You. They track you across apps and the web. Do you really trust a company that does that? See the App Privacy section of their App Store page for details.

Incredible, just incredible. This app works, I bought this app a while ago and its made me a lot more productive. The idea is great for having a reason to stay off your phone being getting trees and real life trees. Other things like the payment in the app itself is smart not giving you coins but tripling your coin output is really smart to get people motivated to put on a timer. I highly recommend this app and think the price is certainly worth it.

Cool. It’s neato

Good apps. This app can let me focus on what I should do right now

just awesome. nothing motivates me more to not touch my phone than knowing my focus can help plant a real tree. brilliant idea and lovely app.

Great app!. I love seeing all my little plants grow! It keeps me off my phone and more productive throughout the day!

makes studying fun!. never thought i would say that, haha! i really do enjoy using the app, and i definitely notice a change in the way i study. i feel more concentrated with the manageable time intervals, helps me stay off my phone, and the growing the tree is a cute and effective incentive :) worth every penny! but i do wish that i could see all my trees that i've grown since the beginning. also, i would like to have a pause button for the longer interval times (35+ mins) for when i need to go to the washroom or grab a snack lol

Great app!. So cute + helpful for my writing work

Helps get off the phone. It’s so much fun and so cute to see your forest grow as you get off your phone. Helps you pay attention more to what you are doing.

棒!. 在forest种下了第一颗真树,不玩手机居然还能为大自然做点贡献,真的成就感满满!小小的希望有一天我也能做出这么好的app,forest加油!!

Ben2004737372. Great focus tool

Great!. Happy studying

Highly recommend. You should be using this app everyday Multiple times.

Good!!. really keep me focused and use the time to study

Good. Good one

Adorable & Effective!. I love this app. It helps you set work timers and see how much time you’ve spent doing deep, focused work throughout the day, week, or month. It’s effective because it’s easy to use and because it taps into our ability to connect with other living things - each focus increment takes the shape of a plant you don’t want to see grow! It’s essentially a Tamagotchi and a Pomodoro rolled into one.

Top notch. I’m so thankful for this app as it helped me to focus better on my studies. The UI is amazing too. 5/5 Recommended.

A little ‘harsh?’. So the app is quite cool and all, but what bothers me is the messages. While the timer is running, it will display messages like ‘Get back to work!’ , ‘Put down your phone!’ And so on. This app is so cute and kinda relaxing so I just find these a little harsh? Not a reason to not get the app though, just something that they could maybe work on :)

It actually gets you to keep studying. For me, the hardest part about studying is actually committing and doing it. Like everything is all set up for you to do it, but you just don’t start because you just don’t really want to. Well, I find that timing myself gets and keeps me in the mood to get my school work done as well as manage how much of each class I do. It keeps track you your progress and depending on what tags you use, it can also show you what you study the most. Also I really like nature and I’m so down to plant a tree to keep me focused. Though, if there is one improvement I would want in the app, it would be that you get more money the longer you study. Like a significant amount more. It’s kind of a let down to see that you got 35 coins for studying or committing your time to something for an hour and thirty minutes.

Super Helpful!. So whenever I do work, my mind usually drifts off because I feel like I can think two things at the same time (if that makes sense). Basically, my attention span on my work is super low. But ever since I got this app, whenever my mind starts to drift off, I think about how I’m planting my tree. Honestly, if anyone is afraid because you have to pay, this is really worth it if you’re a procrastinator or have really low attention span like me. Think of it like an investment for your future! Great app! The only thing I don’t like is how I study for like a good hour but only get 15 coins or something little like that. I think I deserve more coins since buying a new tree is like 500 coins. In a way, I hate it because it takes longer but I love it because it helps me strive for a new tree.

i enjoy it, but i’m missing some things. i really like using this app to track how much time i spend on my work and it helps to take breaks with timed sessions so you avoid burning out. i like the tagging system so you can see specially how much time you spend on a certain task, such as certain classes or chores. i like that it shows which days you’re most productive and other interesting stats, and you can plant actual trees after awhile. some features i wish were included would be the ability to add a tree/chunk of time for the times i do work and forget to set the timer. id also like to be able to set a stopwatch without an ending because sometimes i want to keep working past the original time set. it’s annoying to have to pick it up and set an extra 10-15 minutes. at the same time, sometimes i’ll finish my work sooner than when the timer goes off, and then i need to kill the tree i’m currently growing or just let the timer finish, but then my times are slightly inaccurate. i know this is nitpicky, but it’s just some features i’ve used with other apps that i really enjoyed. i will continue to use this app regardless because i like their commitment to helping the environment and i think the forests are cute ways of tracking time spent.

My productivity has grown. I usually don’t buy apps, but this one is worth it! I am a very task driven person, and being able to see a concrete thing being accomplished by setting time aside to be productive helps me not give in to picking up my phone. I love the little trees you can see that you’ve built over time, and that eventually you can build a real life tree! The only criticism I have is that I think it takes way too many coins to buy new digital trees or a real one. I understand it’s expensive to plant a new tree and they make money by people buying things to make them get more digital currency, but it seems hard to set your goals to plant a real life when the goals seem unattainable. Regardless, this is definitely the best productivity app I’ve used! Worth the $2!

Needs more improvement. Too similar to Flora.. I like the way this app works. However, I found the function of this app very similar to the app flora (which is free). I think that you need to add more functions and features to make this app worth the money like break time and make the app more different from flora. Sometimes, when I’m doing homework and I need a break, I can’t stop the timer and the break time is counted as my studying time. I would love a break time function! I also think you should make this app more like a game. I love games and it’s the reason why I downloaded this app. You should add levels, character shops, more rewards, maybe competition to motivate people, motivation quotes, more items in shops, studying tips, functions that help concentration like to do lists, and make sure the features or functions that are new are not distractions and helpful to make the app fun and motivating. I hope this helps! Thanks for reading this!💗

Started out good, seems to get slower. Hello, I’ve used Forest for many years at this point. I remember when I initially joined, bushes were still for just small increments of time. I like a lot of the features that have come around, stopwatch mode, toggling deep focus, integration with screentime, etc. But it feels like the app has just slowed down. It takes so long to react to touch input, particularly when selecting a tree species. I just want the time to be faster to create a smoother experience. And I do actually miss the smaller bushes being for smaller increments of time only. It provided some variation and when looking at a forest, told me if I had done a lot of small focus sessions or fewer and longer ones. It was rewarding for 2 different skills. A feature I would love to see is a return of the short timed bushes, and the addition of some species for longer times only - sequoias come to mind. Thanks for all the work you’ve put into this app. 2024 updates: Hello! I still like this app. Still seeing some slow reactions when tapping buttons or loading information like the forest timeline and today’s forest, but still fast enough to be acceptable. Feature I would love to see: being able to adjust the app allow list from the planting settings - I have a few that I use throughout the day and it would be wonderful to just save a favorite tree with the app allow list, instead of switching them in the settings.

Love this app! Could be even better if.... I’ve been using Forest for two years, and it’s been extremely effective for helping me stay focused when I can’t put my phone down. I love the different trees and the different goals. The only feature that I really wish they would develop further is its social features. I have several friends who use the app, and we’ve added each other, but all I can see from them is their history from just ONE day. I wish the friends leaderboard would be weekly instead of daily, and that there were more social features: maybe permanent groups you could create and see if everyone was focused together (imagine how school teachers could utilize that!) or who had the most minutes that week in a particular group. All in all, amazing app, I would just use it so much more if more social features were added.

Amazing App. I have long struggled to be able to put my phone down to do my work and stay focused. But with Forest when I pick up my phone I think to myself, if I use my phone I’m going to kill a tree, and then I’m going to have to look at it. I have OCD so looking at those dead trees would make me uncomfortable and angry. I think the various different trees are super cool, and I love that some plants have different levels, so the longer you stay focused the more “upgraded” it gets and makes it look cool. I especially love being able to view all the trees and plants I have grown in my forest. The sounds are really calming as well. I would love to see a campfire sound, because the sound of crackling fire calms me deeply. Thank you Forest for helping me stay focused and on task way more. 💚

Please add scheduling!. I love this app so much - I have a horrible phone addiction and have tried a ton of other apps but nothing is quite as motivating as knowing I’m going to kill my little tree if I don’t get off my phone. I’ve set up those Apple Screen time limits and every time the limit comes up, I just say “15 more minutes” with absolutely no shame. But I NEVER kill a Forest tree. The only thing that would make this better (and for which I’d love the developers forever) is if you guys made it possible to schedule trees in advance! I often wake up and start the day on my phone and half my work day will go by before I *realize* and actually plant a Forest tree. If I could preschedule a tree for the morning, that would allow me to start off the day on the right foot. Super hope you guys implement this - and thank you so much for the wonderful app!

An OK pomodoro app with poor Apple Watch support. The most frustrating aspect of Forest is the limited Apple Watch support. If users could start focus sessions without using their phones, they would look at their phones less. Which is the whole point of using the app. But that feature isn’t available. Instead, all you can do is look at your forest. Other annoyances are some questionable UI choices, like the annoying pop up on the view Forest screen that can’t be turned off. Balanced against this is the clever tree planting system which gives users a stake in completing through on their focus sessions. Also valuable are the statistics, competitions, and ability to acquire more flora through sweat equity. These features make Forest one of the best pomodor apps. It’s just unfortunate to miss on something as basic and useful as Apple Watch support.

Great- Could be better. This app is amazing. Really gives me motivation to follow through with my to do list. I pair this app with their other one, Sleeptown. I love that one too so far. And a to-do list app by someone else “To Do Adventure” There’s only a few trees you can start out with... And the rest you have to save up coins for which is great incentive but it also takes a ton more saving than I would expect. It’s because you can also buy coins, which I wouldn’t expect from an app you already are paying for upfront. I thought the in-app purchases would be donations going towards planting irl trees. So that’s disappointing. The forest also resets everyday so your trees disappear, instead of building one huge forest over time, which is saddening. But the incentive still works because I don’t want the tree to wilt and I at least want to build up a nice little for the day.

Not ideal for Pomodoros but cute. I purchased this app hoping that this could help improve focus on my tasks and support use of the Pomodoro method. The idea of having a visual outcome of a virtual forest to show a productive day sounded great. The issue is, while you can certainly set the timer to 25 min blocks of time, this means you can only get the less ornamental (just above the base-model/bush) version of trees since the fanciest versions require setting the timer to longer stretches of time. Over time, this has led to me having to use a second timer to break down a 2 hour block into the 25 min/5 min Pomodoro segments, which ultimately shows the app’s limited usefulness as a fun, standalone task timer. As a result, my use of the app has gradually fallen off (still trying though). One thing that revived my interest was the developers putting holiday themes for the trees/bushes in December. It was a nice touch.

One of my favorite apps.... Update: I mistakenly said this app was missing a feature which it actually does have. I wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t for the quick and friendly response by the app developer. That just goes to show that these guys really do care about their users’ experience. ... This is a great app. It helps keep me away from the phone. The previous version gave you extra coins if you stayed off your phone longer than your set time. Now it only gives you coins based on your set time. The drawback to this is that you have to repeatedly go back and set a new goal once the time is up if you want to be rewarded. That means being distracted by having to reach your phone. Overall, a useful app, just a little less than before.

Great productivity App. Dear forest, Thank you for making a productivity app that’s fun and that’s encouraging me to be more productive. Since I have been using it i and more productive and I’m able to complete all of my assignments and tasks daily. Keep up the great work!!!!😁📚I’d recommend this app for kindergarteners to graduate Students this is an amazing app I wish I’d had it before college. As a homeschooler, Every school term my mother would purchase timers from the dollar store and get them to my sister and me and we got bored with using the timer because it wasn’t very exciting. In 2018, I resumed the pomodoro method in my Sophomore year of college and I started using the forest App. That’s when I fell in love with this app. I never knew that there was a name for it but our mother brought us up on the pomodoro method😆.Well thanks for making a great app!!!! Keep up the great work🎉😁💝

Enhanced my Productivity. I spend way too much time on my phone and use it as a way to procrastinate or distract me from things I need to get done. This app has been so helpful. I recommend it to friends and I love that we can plant a tree and focus together!! I look forward to buying and adding new trees and the new additions have been so cute. My only complaint is with the forest aspect. My forest is not very aesthetically pleasing because there is no option to rearrange your plants or trees. Sometimes the organization by time focused is not what i’m looking for. I would be much more inclined to use it as a widget and really care about which plant i’m growing if I could change the way it looks. Highly recommend. The little price you pay for the app is incomparable to the pay-off of the way this can help you focus.

Most adorable and fun way to beat procrastination. I use the Pomodoro technique (25 min focus, 5 min break, repeat) because I know myself and I will be paralyzed with procrastination anxiety if I remind myself “I need to study for 7 hrs today. That is 420 minutes.” Cutting the studying up into manageable chunks of time worked for me after I overcame the hardest part: starting. I needed the Forest app to incentivize me. The Forest app keeps track of the number of minutes I stayed focused for that day (reminds me that I am accomplishing more than I give myself credit for and 420 minutes of focusing is conquerable) along with keeping me accountable for my lovely garden filled with various whimsical trees. I cannot bear to see a dead tree caused by my utter lack of focus (exiting out of the app) in my lovely garden. Who would have known the guilt brought upon by killing a tree would be powerful enough to beat my years of procrastination? 5/5 great productivity app!

Looking for a reliable, fun, practical hands-off phone timer? You’ve found it!. I absolutely love this app! The game aspect of it offers consistent rewards for your commitment to set your phone down. There are so many fun flowers, bushes, trees, and odd plants to plant in your garden! Plus you get to plant REAL TREES! I’m in love with the concept of planting real trees in favor of more time connected to nature and each other. 🌳❤️ I’ve used it for years to keep myself off of my phone and stop myself from doom scrolling! I had a terrible habit of this, but this app has been a HUGE help to slowing this habit! 5/5 - I always recommend to my friends and family! To developers: I wish I was able to start and stop a timer from my Apple Watch! It would help to keep myself off of my phone for even longer during the day while planting trees!

Motivation. This app has been great for keeping me on track with my studies. Getting a tree to put in your forest gives me just a little extra nudge to do my work uninterrupted. Where I used to easily get sidetracked, there is just something about having that tree growing that stops me if I want to google some random fact or click on a news article. Even though the app is on my phone (so my computer is still available), I have no desire to “cheat”. What is the point in a forest full of trees you didn’t earn? One overall suggestion I will make is that the sky is the limit with an app like this. How about a building? A town? A farm? An amusement park? There is definitely a lot of potential here if a talented group of programers want to expand on this whole idea. For immediate improvements I would like more it the shop. I have a feeling that will keep coming though.

Effective but can be improved. I’ve been using the app for a few years and love how it motivates me to stay on task. That said, I think it’s time for this app to do far more to really facilitate better focus. The Pomodoro Technique is effective for a lot of people because you can move between productive time and small breaks. The way this app works, however, is that if you want to plant a tree to its full size you need to focus for two hours straight otherwise it dies or you get a small, not as cute looking tree stub. Frankly, I don’t know anyone nowadays who does that. That’s 1/12 of the whole day already. As a student, I need breaks like most people do. Other productivity apps have this option and I think the devs should consider incorporating a Pomodoro Technique option when you decide to focus for longer than 25 minutes. This is frustrating because I slaved away to earn 1000 coins on buying a cute tree that I can’t focus long enough for. To contextualize, you get 5-6 coins per 20min study and the number of coins earned increases the longer you study in one session. You can imagine how many hours I spent with this app to buy a few trees. These days though, the shrubs are clearly more valuable because the focus-time for those is 20 min at most. Please consider incorporating a Pomodoro Technique mechanic. Just to note, I suggested this in-app but received no response which is why I’m finally posting a review.

Decrease in Quality Recently & Counterproductive Chrome-to-iOS Sync Issues. PROBLEM: You must improve Chrome-to-app syncing so that we can use and reap the gold rewards for using the chrome extension on multiple devices AND this app on multiple devices. Currently, users are punished (by losing gold) when they run the extension and app simultaneously. For an app rated at #2 in productivity, this seems counterproductive. TIMELINE: This has been an issue for over a year now (there is a Chrome extension complaint about this from Feb 2019). We paid for this app. That means you have the funds to dedicate resources to improving the Forest application. SOLUTION: If you’re worried about players getting gold too quickly by using multiple devices, then input an algorithm that first recognizes when multiple decides are running a session simultaneously. If a user has only one device, then they earn gold normally, with no change to the rate. The gold earned from any simultaneously-running extra devices (eg extensions or app) should be at a lesser rate. I’ve used this app for over a year now, and it’s been good for the most part. However, the Forest app developers need to get it together. For a paid app, I expect better. PROBLEM: App developers have ceased giving users motivators for lengthier sessions. All the new trees have just one stage for all session lengths. That’s laziness. SOLUTION: Make multiple stages for new trees. Low rating to get app dev attention.

Excellent for resisting distractions. This app really works for me. I’m not sure I really care about growing a forest, to be honest, and there are plenty of distractions out there that do not use my phone, so it would be easy to cheat. But the point of this app is to set a 25 minute timer to stay focused, and then to “nudge” you mentally back on task when your mind starts to wander, or if you think of other things to do—check email, get up and get a glass of water, whatever. This app is a reminder that whatever you think you need to do immediately, it can wait and it’s not that hard to stay focused for the time remaining in your 25 minute work session—and if you succeed you will be rewarded with a new “tree” for your forest (if that is important to you). It’s also good to see your progress day by day and week by week.

Easy to Use Incentive & Tracking. I love Forest. I started using it about 1 year ago to help decrease my screen time and, most usefully, to track my focused time working. I find it especially helpful for tracking writing time. The act of planting a tree adds an element of habit that helps me focus. I don’t really participate in the community there or competition, but I have planted with friends. I find it a bit clunky in that regard because we often have to enter the codes manually to join a room or do so from email. One time I was able to just click an invite in the app. I think you have to have the plant with friends screen open for that to happen and that timing is rare for my slightly scattered friend and I. It would be great if that link stayed available or there were another way to make this easier.

Helps you stay on task!. This app is good for those who unconsciously move their hand to their phone and then get distracted for 4 hours! In other words, someone like me... If you have a heart and do not have the audacity to kill a pure, growing, virtual plant, then give this app a shot. It helps me stay away from mindlessly going on social media just to check “something”. I get sidetracked very easily and I’ve been wanting to improve that habit because I end up being less productive. Unlocking my phone and witnessing my little seedling growing seems so pure that I allow it to grow. (Most of the time. There had been some incidents.) If you’re like me and are easily distracted and you lose focus often on what needs to be done, by all means try this app out if you lack the mental stability of ignoring your apps.

Best Productivity App Ever!. I very rarely spend money on virtual things, but this app is definitely worth the $2. I have never been this productive in my life. The sheer quality of this app is amazing. Forest has a beautiful Graphical User Interface. I end up spending the most time on my phone using this app, if you don’t count Safari and Messages. Forest has a feature that displays a graph that implicates your productivity throughout the day. The feature that breaks down how much time you spend on individual activities is also quite useful and interesting. It’s genuinely a great app. My only complaint is that you cannot rearrange the order of your tags, or the order that they show up in the pie graph. Also the Time Line tab is a bit useless. Other then that, this app is perfect.

just one suggestion. i didn’t have very high expectations going into this, assuming it was just any other study timer app. but they were definitely exceeded. i have ADHD and struggle soooo much with procrastination and sustaining work duration, and nothing has done the trick like this app has. especially in group sessions, if your tree withers everyone else’s does, which definitely does the job to keep you going! if i could suggest one thing- i wish there were a chat option after finishing group sessions, even pre-made messages/stickers would work if free chat poses any problems. i think it’d be a nice touch to make it more interactive and tell each other good job, all that! while i love group mode, it does feel like it’s missing something, so a feature like this would make it more encouraging. but overall, love it

Need a timer ding. So far I’m loving the app it’s really helping me stay on task and focused. The only things I think could make this app that much better are if you set your timer for 30 mins maybe have it make a “ding” sound when you’ve reached your 30 mins at the end of your timer. Or if your still studying after the timer has been set have the app count up and those extra 5 or 10 minutes that you were studying could count toward something bc what happens is I’ll tend to keep looking at my phone when the end is near (bc my phone locks and goes to sleep to save the battery so I can’t see the countdown timer) to make sure I’m not going over my timer bc what’s the point of studying if it’s not being counted and getting points for it. Right?! 😜 Seriously, I’m loving the app though and I’m loving the little tags that you can write your own notes on.

Great way to focus and get stuff done. Its a great app if you need to get anything done, work, sleep, or just can’t put down your phone, it works very well. Seeing the amount of trees you’ve grown over the month is very satisfying and actually quite difficult/heartbreaking to kill trees, I haven’t killed one yet. A few notes though: there isn’t a way to end a timer if you got all your work done, meaning even if you have everything done, you still have to either wait for the tree, or kill the tree. I wish there was a good way to get the work done, maybe change it for a different tree, but something so you don’t have to kill the tree but don’t have to wait 20 minutes. A few quick things about the app; Parents: This is not a good way to make your child get work done as they still have the choice to get out and will get out if this is against their will. I am not a condoner of things like OurPact, there are better ways to control your child and let them get their work done Students/anyone else: This app is a great way to stay encouraged and not have the distraction of your own phone, I count computer games as killing the tree though, so you set your own rules and get down to getting your work done! I wish you the best of luck!

One of my go-to productivity apps. It’s funny; I’ve downloaded so very many productivity and timing apps which are, admittedly, more sophisticated. However, time and again, I turn to this app to stay focused. I really enjoy it, seeing my cool trees grow. My one complaint is how sparse the interface and “forest-view” are. . . This is the only reason I’ve taken off a star. It’s a free app; I get that. However, there are optional in-app purchases—-it seems to me that it would be worth it to the developers to put a “prettier” pic in background while growing my tree and a MUCH nicer view of my forest. I’d pay a little for this if they did it (for sure) and/or perhaps they could implement better/different in-app purchases to support such an overhaul. Anyway, would be truly my fav productivity app, and never would I stray, would they work on these aesthetics!! In the meantime, though, I’m sure I’ll continue to use this pleasing little app :)

Great, with Some Opportunities for Improvement. I love using Forest as a way to feel like I am doing something positive (planting imaginary, even actual trees) while focusing on various activities. My one suggestion would be to offer an option where a timer for focusing can be started and run for as long as focusing lasts, rather than requiring the user to specify a time period. Sometimes I’m not sure how long I’m going to be able to focus before I’m interrupted (e.g. my son running into the room needing something, a call coming in that I can’t dismiss), and it sometimes discourages me from planting if I’m worried I can’t determine how long I’ll be able to stay focused and don’t want a dead tree on my hands. Sometimes the break in focus is outside of your control, and I think this would be a good feature along with the timer option currently available to ensure that users can track how long they’re able to focus without interruptions.

Wish it was compatible with pomodoro!. This is a great app, and I’ve been using it for years now, but I’m really disappointed that it isn’t compatible with the pomodoro technique! Per that technique, I only study for 25min at a time but of course do multiple 25min sessions in a day. Unfortunately, this app doesn’t have a mode that works with the pomodoro method; I can’t plant one tree and have it grow due to cumulative time for one day, I can only plant multiple sprouts of trees that never grow. It’s disheartening to not be able to grow big, final form trees just because I use a more paced studying technique when the whole point of the app is to stay focused so you have the reward of looking at your beautiful forest. If they were to add a pomodoro mode that either lets you plant final form trees for every 25min OR lets you plant one tree and have your cumulative time for the day grow it, then I’d give this app 5 stars!

ADHD user loves it. Wow, I actually love this app. I rarely write reviews but this is important info to get out. I’ve noticed with my ADHD I get very bored very easily and if I don’t have something that keeps me accountable, I will simply forget what I was just doing and start playing on my phone. With this app, I leave the screen open with the timer counting down and my task of “work” or “homework” facing me so when I get the urge, it’s a reminder of what I SHOULD be doing. I love how the app isn’t busy so when you take your 5 min break it’s super easy to just set up another timer and not get lost in something else. This app rocks, I recommend it to anyone and everyone especially those of us that suffer from constant distraction that inevitably lead us to picking up our devices to “cure” boredom. Thanks Forest team, I told my therapist all about you!!!

Great app but there are some issues. I personally enjoy this application quite a lot. There are of course a few issues with it. One I would like to focus on being, I personally prefer the “deep focus” setting which will kill your tree if you exit the app, but the problem is if there is something you need to check on your phone or if you need to look something up you cannot so simply do it. now, I am sure there is a way to prevent this but it is not immediately clear. My second point relates to my last. While the app is simple looking, looks can be deceiving and takes a bit to get used to. It is by far the most helpful tool in time management that I have and for that I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a better way to focus without the distraction of technology

Great, but could use some more features. I absolutely love this app. I’ve gotten into the habit of using it so much that it’s part of my studying routine. There are some things I wish it had. 1. It would be really nice to be able to pause a tree. For example, if you were planting a tree at work, but then needed to step away from your desk for a few minutes to help a coworker or something, it would be really nice to be able to pause the tree and then come back and restart it. Otherwise, you either have to kill it, or just let it grow - but letting it grow isn’t a truthful measure of your focus time. 2. I think the “Plant Together” feature could be updated. It would be nice if friends could plant a forest in a room together, but not be constrained by the planting time of the other person. For instance, if my friend and I started a forest for the day, it would be nice to independently add to it at the same time with different trees and different lengths of study times. Right now, you need to be planting the same tree and the same time and for the same length of time as your friend. Overall, I really do love the app. I just think a few updates could make it even better ☺️

Increases productivity. Forest has helped me stay present over dinner, at work and in my leisure time. I didn't realize how much I actually look at my phone until I started setting time frames to leave it alone and allow trees to grow. I've even scored one real tree planted so far, which is cool. My friends who are with me in body appreciate it. My friends and family in mind who text me do not. I'm okay with that. I've read four books this month and been more efficient at life. I would like to see some upgrades such as an option to save different tree types as labeled for different activities (cherry blossom for studying, birdhouse for cleaning...etc.) and seeing a large grid of all trees ever with a zoom function. Graphics could be better. However, it serves the purpose for which it was created. Recommended! Update: I’d also like the option to grow trees for up to 8 hours at a time. Why the limit to 2 hours?

Loving it so far!. I’ve only just gotten this app but it’s helped my productivity loads! The only problem is when I’m trying to use my phone as a calculator or texting a reply and suddenly my trees die, I wish there was a sort of a pause button on it (even though it’s fine the way it is). I also love how you can buy different trees but I wish there were more achievements that one could unlock, I find myself not having enough money to buy items (especially as the price goes up by 100 coins after every purchase). I also wish there was a setting for longer than 2 hours (I usually go out for longer than that but don’t bring my phone with me and I can’t help but lament the amount of coins I wasn’t getting). Besides that, everything is awesome and this app is definitely worth its price.

Positive Inspiration is Working Bettering. You name it, I’ve tried it when it comes to productivity/focus aids. I was not expecting this...but somehow this tree-planting thing is strangely motivating me. I feel protective of the tree while it’s “growing”. I feel like it’s not too hard to resist my impulses until the tree is finished uling software “growing”. With the ability to tag trees gwith various categories, my mind is exploding with the possibility of where I could be after “100 trees of #websitedesign” or a forest of #meditation or how my relationship with my kids would improve after “50 trees of #qualitytimewithkids”. It is bite-sized so it isn’t daunting. I don’t have any guilt associated with not-planting-another-tree-right-then and it is SO fast to get started that I don’t dread it like I dread loading my scheduling software each morning. I’m pretty safe to be productive as long as I keep planting trees and GO! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

i love it!. Not gonna lie, I NEVER buy apps. I always go for the free version. I actually first discovered Forest through the free Chrome extension and fell in love with it! I had planted so many trees that it was to the point where I was like, okay, time to get the app. I haven't regretted it! I even just got the 21 day coin booster, which is also well worth the extra $2. Instead of getting 43 coins for my regular 2-hour sessions, I get triple that amount for a great price! I wouldn't even mind paying a few extra dollars to make the booster permanent, if that was an option. I also love that it syncs to my laptop. In the chrome version I can block off certain websites while my tree is growing so I can stay on task, which I definitely need. I'm a full-time homeschool student and it is SO easy to get distracted, but with this app I just can't risk letting my little tree die! Overall it's a great app and I HIGHLY recommend!

Saves Time & Energy. Forest is the BEST productivity/focus timer app out of the dozens that I’ve tried. Forest is truly so helpful and they partner with Trees for the Future to convert focus time into real trees being planted. 🤩You’re allowed to customize the intervals for task time/break time and even lock access your phone (or not) to enhance concentration. Your garden gains new flora with every successfully completed focus round. This is a beautiful representation of sowing a seed and watching it grow with time. Forest also have a handy web browser extension making it accessible for most phones, laptops, and tablets. LASTLY, we can’t forget that you can actually use focus coins to plant real-life trees and to support Trees of the Future! Forest has planted nearly 1.5 million trees. If you’re looking for a quality productivity app, look no further my friends. Forest app is the crème de la crème.

The updates and tree variety keep me hooked. I have a newborn son, and we have a routine. He wakes me up about an hour to two hours before I’d normally be up for work. I plant a two-hour tree with Forest and I play with my boy. It was hard at first, because babies don’t appear terribly interesting at times, and I’ve had such a long-time habit of checking the morning news on my phone. But when I plant a tree in the morning, I am so focused on my boy and no longer tempted to read or check my phone. He has my complete attention. My wife and I also plant trees right before we sit down to dinner with our kids or watch a movie with them. Forest really helps us to be and stay present with our family. I’ve tried other apps that had similar concepts of growing plants and trees, and when they stopped updating I got bored. Forest has a wonderful variety and updates that have kept me hooked and interested.

Great app!. I have ADHD and this app has been incredibly helpful! It’s greatly improved my ability to stay on task and off my phone. My biggest problem when working is I don’t realize I’ve gotten distracted. Before it was easy to just pick up my phone and spend hours not doing anything. Now when I pick up my phone I see the forest app I realize I’m distracted. It’s an amazing mental stop and is usually enough to get me to go back on task. If not the little trees are cute and I know it sounds silly but I don’t want to kill a tree to check reddit. If you do kill a tree it also will put a dead tree in your forest. You can also unlock new trees with coins. You get coins by putting more trees in your forest so it’s kinda a motivational thing to focus more to unlock more trees. (You can also unlock sounds to listen to while you focus.) The app is a great tool for anyone who gets mindlessly distracted and doesn’t realize. It’ll keep your phone from being a distraction point at a minimum. (It’s not magic unfortunately and won’t stop other distractions). If you’re the kinda person who deliberately procrastinates or realizes that you are distracted it may or may not help. It depends how much you can bring yourself to care about the app. It’s helped me an incredible amount and I am thankful for the app.

Amazing. This is probably the most useful app on my phone. I spend most of my time on this thing procrastinating (like how I’m writing this now instead of writing a paper...) and Forest is amazing at helping me control that. I like planting little trees in my forest and being able to plant real ones too! The only thing I would change, is being able to design your own forest. The way it’s laid out is good, but it would be nice if like in SleepTown, you could customize a little forest using your existing array of trees and maybe buy little decorations, because looking at over 800 little trees at once is kinda overwhelming, and you have to go into months or weeks to actually see them. Other than that it’s literally perfect, and that’s really just a recommendation on how to make it better, but it’s perfect the way it is already!

My Favorite App!. Forest has made a hugely positive impact on my studies and productivity. The main focus of this app is to stop you from getting distracted, which is already amazing on its own. However, there are also other great things about it. It MOTIVATES me to study because the ability to view how many minutes of work I did in a day/week makes me feel so happy and proud of myself, and it encourages me to plant more and more trees. It also encourages me to continue studying even when the timer is done since you can get more coins. Being able to study with friends is really fun, too! The different trees/bushes you can buy with coins you earn from focusing are all super cute as well. Lastly, I LOVE the idea of being able to plant a REAL tree! (It takes a TON of coins, though, so it takes a while to save up for.) Overall, I love this app so much, and every penny was worth it!

Amazing if you make too many excuses!! :). Alright, I’ll be honest here. I’ve only had this app for maybe a week. However, like many people, I’m a big procrastinator and I always make excuses to not get things done. As much as I hate to admit, I am definitely a little addicted to my phone. Forest does help with this, so long as you have the little bit of money to spend on it and just a little determination to change things. Forest gives me a little extra motivation to put my phone down for some time every day, and get things done. I would recommend using their other apps too, and I would really recommend to anyone that has the same problems that I do. Thank you to the developer(s) of forest for helping us all out a little, I hope this app can become more popular! :)

Different Timing Options. I really like the idea of planting trees and getting coins as rewards for staying off of my phone, but choosing how many minutes to set a goal for is hard because I never know how long something is going to last. If I set it for 30 minutes but then get an important text message from my mom, I have to give up and kill my plant. I would suggest having a mode that lets you just turn off your phone in the app for as long or as short of a time as you want without setting a goal. And if we leave the app, it doesn’t kill the tree. Just the amount of time we stay in the app without leaving it results in different colored plants and trees. Like maybe 1-5 minutes could be a flower and maybe like 60 minutes could be a willow tree and so forth.

Absolutely lovely and effective, worth $2. I have really really really been enjoying this app. I have spent considerably more time off my smart devices and in my real life simply by planting virtual trees :). Everything is perfect about it, it has daily forest growth squares that adds into the larger grid of your long term forest and keep the data for when and how you were of you smart phone. If that isn’t complete enough, it has a setting to turn on to track your phone usage, very compare his experience and pretty, if not horrifying data haha. It’s really just been a joy, and very effective. Haven’t made an account or even explored the online factors, oh and get earned only (non purchasable 😌) coins to buy a super fun variety of trees and bushes, which I hope continues to be built up. Okay, worth two dollars, bye.

Good! But I’d like an Autoversion. The app is good at helping me keep track of the number of hours I work on art and teaches me to take periodic breaks for my own health. In that respect it’s successful. And it even has a pledge to plant trees. That’s always fun. You can look back on your productivity and keep track of how "good" you were that week. I’d be interested in a version of this app that works automatically, though. Like you set up a date and times when you intend to be productive the following day, and if you don’t make it to those things you promised yourself, it keeps a record by showing you how many trees you "could have planted" if you had been on time. Like maybe some transparent trees in your forest. Just a thought!
