Awesome reference!. This is a great reference tool for practice! For all of the users complaining about having to pay a subscription - this is expected with a reference tool that has to be maintained and updated.

Used to be a great app!. Updated the app and now it’s 20/month?!? What the heck! No way will I pay that. Already have Epocrates so won’t be paying for another medical app. Thanks for the good years but now will be deleting.

Love this App. I am in a rural university based FM residency which due to our geography results in constant cases which become very complex requiring specialties that we do not have. This app and website has been amazing when trying to manage these patients both from an acute and chronic standpoint.

Supreme resource. App is so good. Fantastic for common hospital problems and how to manage them. Also the clinical pearls that are added gives it that charm that makes it fun to read. Finally being able to search many topics is the cherry on top. So useful.

Fantastic resource. Utilized by my family medicine residency program at one of the busiest and largest public hospital systems in the country. All content is up-to-date, accurate, well-sourced, and presented in a concise organized fashion.

Was a great app till they charged.. Loved this app, had great non biased treatments. Now they charge for use.

Worth the $20. Many people are mad about the new charge but $20/year is nothing compared to the other apps and resources out there! I find this app to be as good or better than Epocrates which charges a much higher fee. If only everything could be free in life... but this really is a fabulous resource. Accurate, up to date content with the flick of a finger tip. If you have small doubt about a medical plan, this will lay it all out! Give it a try and you’ll find you completely agree! (plus the website option is still free)

$20 - I don’t think so!. Was a great additional reference, but with new laws I don’t qualify for work deductions on cost.....if I’m going to pay to use an app, I would want something better than this. So it’s been great, but I think it’s time we break up

Required subscription. Used to be great but they now require a subscription.

LIFE SAVER FOR NPs. THIS APP IS GOLD. I started as a new NP at an urgent care clinic where I was the only provider. This app saved me time and time again. Fast forward a few years, and this is still my go to. Through my organization, I have access to epocrates, Up to Date, Lexicom, and the NP notebook is still the one I reference more than any other. I literally use it everyday that I work. I like that the guidelines and recommendations are updated throughout the year to reflect the most current best practices. I wouldn’t have survived without this app. The price is a steal and the information is invaluable. I recommend this app to all new NPs (and seasoned) bc the information is current, concise, and backed by scholarly journals.

App stopped working. I work as a provider in the ER. I used to use this app but I’ll be finding another. When it was scheduled to review, it stopped working altogether and could not be fixed no matter what I did. Shameful issue for a paid app. Sad day.

Great app for Nurse Practitioners. I have tried other medical reference resources, but this has been the best one, by far. And one of the least expensive. This app was recommended to me by a fellow Nurse Practitioner a couple years ago. I use it every day. The information I search for is easy to find, and I appreciate how the app stays updated. For me, one of the best parts, is that I can pull up this app on my MacBook Air, with the new Apple M1 chip. I keep it open, so my resources are immediately available. I recommended it to an NP student, and she finds it helpful. Highly recommend.

Perfect. I love this app. I recommend it to any new person or season person in their profession. It’s nice to have a quick bulletin to reference from. I use it for quick reference when I’m busy and then later read Up-To-Date for evidence base rational.

Best free general medical reference in existence.. App is a wrapper abound the web site, which is a labor of love with well managed ad support. Site is particulary strong on emergency medicine but covers a very wide range of topics. Updates are better than most other references. Surprisingly strong anatomy reviews. Aimed at physicians, but readable by laypeople with science or clinical background. Up To Date is comparable but costs hundreds of dollars a year. I can't tell what one gets for the In-App purchases. It might be a good way to contribute to the site, I'm going to research that.

Seriously?. They used to a have a free option and now they went on a subscription model. Psh! Uninstalling. I would have paid for updated info and “Pro Version” I don’t use it enough to warrant paying $20 a year for it when I can google or there’s other apps....especially when various sections take you to outside information anyway. Nice try! But No.

Really enjoy it. I have a variety of resources I use in Primary Care and while there is a lot of overlap FPN sometimes gives more options than others like 5MCC. It is very affordable unlike UTD. It takes a little time to figure out how to maneuver around the app but overall I love that it is bullet points rather than paragraph form like other resources.

Scam. The auto "renew" auto "charge" is such a scam... Never even used the app for moooonths and it still gets your money! Such a hassle to cancel to uuuuggghhh!!!

Amazing and best $20 ever spent!!. I work as an inpatient medicine PA and I reference this ap multiple times a day. It is an amazing resource and much more concise than uptodate. I also got into on this application when it was free but I was beyond happy to pay $20 when it was started as a subscription. Disappointed to see all the negative reviews just because they want less than $2 a month for these amazing services. I was shocked it was free from the start! Would recommend without hesitation.

useless search engine. Useless search engine. Worked well using Google as a front end search engine. For example, seach for "peds uti", which worked through google as did all other partial searches. But, the built in search function is useless.

Love this app. All these reviews talking about the company being greedy yet want the app for free...hypocrites! Like uptodate is cheap lol. Great app!

Awesome app. Can you add a way for us to get CEU’s for using this? Thank you.

Shame on you. A monthly subscription? I used to recommend this site, not any more.

Once was good, now a failure. Used to be free. It was a good reference, however could have been better. Not worth the subscription.

Used to be great. This app used to be a great FREE resource for providers. Recently they started charging a monthly fee. Very disappointed.

Best of the Best. Absolutely the best reference there is, in my opinion. Exceptional. Highly regarded. I use it as reference for pharmacology and physiology. I am a retired Registered Nurse and tutor, on demand, for prospective test takers of the national pharmacy technician certification examination. It is actually the only reference I use. I especially enjoy how it is outlined. Thank you so much.

Change. I upgraded to a newer version of the app. Unfortunately, now they want to charge a monthly subscription fee. Too bad, I really used this as a resource. Bye bye

An excellent Evidence-Based clinical app for all almost all of my FNP questions and answers.. app when I was an FNP student and never stop using it in clinic d the app when I was an FNP student and never stop using it in clinic

Disappointed. This was a great resource for me throughout my residency. I am really disappointed that they have moved to a subscription-based service.

Misleading. I just realized I had been charged not a one time cost, but monthly. I never even used it.

Best App. I’m a new nurse practitioner. This app has the best information. It’s easy to use and understand. I’ve purchased several other expensive apps and databases and this is the one I use daily. I canceled several other subscriptions because this one is so great. There’s even a joke section to keep things light when you need it!

Don’t click on “free trial”. It is not.. There is no indication that a purchase is being made. The statement about a free trial prior to purchase are completely misleading.

Lack of due notice for substantial change. There are ways to go about starting a subscription service. Forcing a splash screen without disclosure to users, instead just vaguely stating “sdk update” is shady practice. To the developer: read your reply. It doesn’t address my comments. This is not about why you need to move to a subscription service. This is not about the cost. It is how you handled it. What you should do is pull the current version, put the older free version back in the app store, and make an announcement about your intent to charge for subscription on next update. I used to recommend this app to my colleagues, as well as residents and medical students. I don’t feel comfortable recommending it now, after this questionable practice.

Disappointed. FP notebook used to have a free option, with an option to buy more updated information. As of yesterday or today, they appear to have eliminated it. 👎

I never want a subscription to an app.. This was an awesome app until they changed to a subscription-only option. I would have paid the $20 for a one time fee, but forcing the subscription makes me not want to give this app any money now. If this goes back to free and one-time-payment options I might be interested in purchasing it but as it stands now this company lost some merit for this move.

Money Grubbers - Use Up To Date Instead. App used to be free and was great for guiding quickly. However, it was not always detailed enough or had some minor discrepancies and holes regarding treatment and diagnosis which is why I am not paying the new steep $20/year subscription - what a joke!

What the heck! You guys were the best app. You guys were the best app on the market before you forced people to pay for subscription with the splash screen. I was advertising for you guys for free with my family and friends until this happened. Can’t believe I have to delete this app after 4-5 years of it having the prime location on my iPhone. Will return once it’s free again.

Diagnostic testing and treatment. Can’t imagine having a better tool that is always current.

indispensable info. I’ve long been dependent on the FPNotebook website, using it probably 3x/week to help manage unusual cases (and some usual ones; for the life of me I can’t memorize the hyperthyroidism algorithm). This app is a polished, professional interface for devices. Thanks much for an amazing compendium of practical information for the doc in the trenches! The author is clearly undercharging for this info.

Accurate and concise. This is a terrific resource for nurse practitioners. It quickly allows me to find information and helps me with treatment plans. This is my go-to, most frequently used resource.

Great easy resource. I’ve used this website for 15+yrs, now the app is my new favorite for clinical answers. Thank You

Requires a subscription now?. Phenomenal app. Loved it, and used it at work constantly. 100% disappointed that you have changed it to require a subscription. I’ll be finding a new app.

Don’t update!!. After you update they will REQUIRE you to have a paid subscription.

Awesome!. Awesome info. Easy to obtain and straight to the point ! Can’t do without it! Thank you all for your hard work and research!

Freezes with every use. This app used to be great! Recently with use it has been freezing every time or every other time I open it up.

Greedy like every other app. Loved this app until they enforced a subscription only service. Shame on you. Deleting. I would actually be willing to pay one time for use of the app, but subscriptions are a rip off. Your app is good but not $20/year good.

Best resource for a Family Nurse Practitioner. This is ABSOLUTELY the best $20 you will ever spend on a medical resource. I find it absolutely incredible the amount of people who are complaining in the reviews about paying $20 a year. Family Practice Notebook is extremely well organized, has everything you need to practice safely and efficiently, and with the latest evidence. Compare this to the $200 plus a year subscription for a Epocrates—FPN wins hands down-regardless of the subscription fees. I recommend this to all the new hires that I on-board at my organization, whether new grads or experienced NPs.

Deleting this app!!. Why ask for money when it was offered free before!

FP Notebook. I have this App in iOS 9 which was working great; however it requests subscription in iOS 16, iPad 16 Really I get disappointed for this change!!!???.. Hopefully you will make free of charge for all people who got this App, long time before. Best wishes

Amazing App. I am a family medicine resident, I literally use this app on a daily basis. It’s essential for medstudents in clinical rotations and primary care resident & fully licensed physicians. I can’t praise this app highly enough.

Excellent. I wish I had this app when starting out in medicine

Awesome app. Great app for quick referencing.

Stellar!. Excellent app. Point form, easily searchable, high yield information that actually informs my practice decisions. I’ve used it through residency and fellowship on every rotation, and now in the ER. Highly recommend, worth every penny, especially when considering the cost of other services.

From free to paid subscription. Shame that the application went from being free to a yearly subscription. The resource is a good one nonetheless.

Fabulous App. The fpnotebook.com Internet website provides an explanation for the need of a $20 per year subscription fee when using the app on an Apple device. This cost is minimal! The app is well worth the cost! It is well organized, up to date, evidenced-based and complete. It is most advantageous for study and when providing services at point of care. I highly recommend this app and find every reason to uphold its excellent reputation!

Used to be Excellent!. This has been my go to app for a couple of years now over UpToDate. The information is concise and easy to find. However, since the update, the app now freezes often, which is really annoying when trying to look up things in between patients. The app worked better when it was free. Now that it cost $20/yr, it is less usable. Doesn’t make sense to me. I used to recommend this app to all colleagues and students. Not anymore, especially for $20/yr. The app would be worth $20/yr and would be a 5-star app if it functioned efficiently as it did before they started charging. Update 4/30/19: Functionality has increased greatly after getting my iPhone XR. Not sure if it was a coincidence or if my iPhone 6 was just too slow to handle this app. Anyway, this app is my go to for quick access to clinical guidelines that are easy to find!

My hero. Scott Moses is my hero. When I was struggling to come up with plans quickly in my 3rd year of medical school internal medicine rounds at University of Washington - FPN came into my life and changed my academic trajectory. Peers wanted to know my secret and attendings said I was obviously reading more and putting in the extra work after hours. FPN carried me through residency and and into my career as a rural doc on the Alaska Kenai Peninsula doing inpatient medicine, ER, endoscopy, and clinical medicine. I admire the man and his work so much, I wrote him a personal email to thank him and he wrote me back and told me to keep an eye out for “cobwebs in the corners” and let him know if I found any! I have been using FPN since 2015 and I can tell you I haven’t. I frequently use UpToDate, Epocrates, and other resources for complex medical cases or questions and in the end FPN is always current and accurate in my broad scope of practice. Not to mention, way faster and easier to use as pocket guide. Whether searching symptoms or medical problems, FPN has an incredibly slick, collapsible, terse format including etiologies, differential diagnosis, workup, and treatment plan. Cheers to you Scott Moses and thank you for this glorious medical repository you have created. Louis Bartoletti, MD
