Great for practice!!. I just downloaded this app yesterday and I am in love. I have used MuseScore from my laptop, but it’s very hard to play the music off of that since I play the piano. I love being able to just play the music right off of my phone. My favorite thing about this app though is the practice feature. It’s great being able to hear the song as you play along with it that way you can know how well you’re doing. It’s also nice that they give you the option to turn off and adjust the volume for the individual instruments and the metronome. I also love that there are a multitude of composers and arrangers on here who put out a lot of very high quality scores. This makes it even more enjoyable. My only complaint is that sometimes it can be a little slow and takes up a lot of battery. I also wish that I could get the pro features for free, but I would never expect for that to happen.

Love the idea but over time this app is not as functional. I used to love this app and it worked well for me. But I’m noticing the past year for some reason I get logged out. When I log back in all my favorites are gone and pretty much anything I’ve saved is lost. This is very frustrating but I went through the process to regain everything that was lost. Now again, when I’m promoted with this flash winter sale that somehow logs me out again, I click Restore (as usual) and now all my favorites and songs are lost!!!! This is so frustrating and I immediately regret purchasing another year subscription for this. Also when I go to look at different songs it is now saying that they are only available online?? What’s the point in having the app anymore? Yes, I am using the most updated version of the app. Please fix these problems!!!

Scam. I have never written a review on an App or a company before. This company has terrible customer service. Please be very weary when every response that you receive is from “Paula Abdul”- I think everyone here has talked to Paula. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was unable to cancel my subscription within the time frame. In fact, I canceled it a few hours after the deadline, thinking most companies would see I never used the product and it was not what I was looking for. Instead, the company wanted to up sell me on a PRO account and said they would offer me a 40% refund. Ok, I get it. It was a free trial and I canceled 2 hours too late. But the company response was awful. I’m trying to locate what country they are in to file a further complaint, but no one has responded. In fact, I really wish I had read all the reviews about this company before I even opted into the trial. Review after review indicates how awfully they treat customers. I tried to write a review on FB about them, but guess what, you can’t write reviews about them. Hence, why I’m here, writing my first ever review on a company. Seriously consider not doing business with this company- they do not care for their consumers. Or file a complaint and you might get to talk to Paula as we all have....

New update makes it very difficult to read and use. The previous version was definitely barebones, and I appreciate that the developers are attempting to add new features and make improvements! Unfortunately the new version makes using the app as a reading tool (for playing at an instrument) cumbersome at best if not impossible. The page turn animation is so slow that I have to stop playing to wait until the next measure is revealed when sight reading. My iPad is less than than a year old, so I know it’s not my device. And the previous version was more than fast enough. The layout of the individual symbols has regressed to the point that symbols and notes and chords are on top of each other, covering and jumbling, making it impossible, sometimes, to read the notes. And finally, as others have noted, the default size when a score opens is extremely small, even on the slightly larger iPad Pro. Having to manually change the size is fine, and I’m glad it’s possible, but that’s when the jumble of symbols happens! I am grateful the developers have grandfathered my account in feature-wise, and also acknowledge that this app, at least for me, is free. Thank you! I hope that further updates to the app give me confidence (and opportunity) to pay for the hard work it takes to construct an useful app.

Keeps making very questionable decisions.. I’ve had this app for 3-4 years at this point, and I mostly very happy with the changes made over that time; however a couple questionable feature decisions immediately come to mind. About 1-2 years ago you used to be able to speed up a song as well as slow it down, it was a feature I used often, and still miss to this day. And just a couple days ago (the reason I am writing this review) I noticed that the newest update removed the sort by new functionality. This was a great way for me to check I there was a new song from a game or album I liked and removes exposure from newer arrangers. These decisions take this app from a 5 star to a 3, and I hope they add them back, or at the very least give a reasonable explanation as to why they did remove them.

Want to love this app but.... Really want to love this app. At first download it worked pretty good but since has been the buggiest app I’ve ever used. There is always some issue: the sudden app crash upon the click of any sheet music or function, erratic controls when you flip the sheet music page or try to drag the repetition slides, screen doesn’t flip orientation with turn of device, constantly logs out of account, and right now when I open the app can’t even click anything because there is a small box centered on the page (a buggy splash page?) that can’t be closed out so the app is completely unusable. I could probably list a dozen other functional issues that have occurred over the last 6 months of using the app. When the app does work, I truly enjoy it and hope the developers can work through these issues. I will happily return if so but unfortunately until then this app too maddening to use.

Ain’t What It Used To Be. I started using this app so that I could use Finale files on my Mac Book Pro and my iPad after the creators of Finale Notepad threw Mac devices under the steam calliope. For a while, it worked well on my Mac and I could post my music to the online server and then access them on my iPad. Now, it seems clumsier, and I can see only five of my songs at any one time on my iPad, unless I upgrade to “MuseScore Pro.” I seem to remember paying for the app in the first place, so I am certainly unhappy to be asked to pay again. When I have contacted “support,” my questions always seem to be misunderstood and are not adequately answered. After about five tries when I asked why I could see only five songs on my iPad, I finally was told 1) I needed to pay yet again; and 2) there might be a fix for this problem in January. I am afraid to click the update button. So I would have given the app at least four stars, mainly because of nearly non-existent instructions. Now, it gets no more than two, and since it has limited usefulness to me, that’s a generous gift.

Types of Instruments. I really like this app. The UI isn’t confusing, you just type in the song, and you can even adjust results based on what instrument you play, but this is where the problem lies. In one of the newer updates, they added the ability to choose what type of instrument you could search for. (i.e. Under Trombone you would find Bass Trombone, and under Trumpet, you would find Piccolo) But the problem is they didn’t add all types of instruments, so I can only pick a Bass Trombone when I don’t play that kind of trombone, I play a Straight Tenor Trombone, but since Bass Trombone is the only option they have, I can only search for music pieces that use a Bass Trombone, so now I can practically never use the app since I’ll be searching for results with an instrument I don’t play. If they fix this issue, the app would be a go to app for playing music, but for now, I can’t even use it.

You cant play music from the app. The way it displays music is “classic” one page page turning, making many songs impossible to play... it wouldnt be that hard to make it scroll instead of just change. They did respond to this but they just mentioned the inconvenient practice mode where there is no option to show more than one part of the piece at once, despite the large area of white space which would fit perfectly. If you want to see more than one part, which any serious player would, you have to use the impossible to play page turning. ALSO, the “practice mode” for some reason makes the measures wider, so you cant reasonably get more than 4 measures on screen. If these people played instruments, they would know you have to read far farther in advanced then that. Finally, the search doesn’t even work, it repeats the same couple dozen uploads over and over and once you get past those it forcible pushes you back up to the top of the search

App has major bugs still even after recent update. After researching music score apps, musescore was trending near the top and the reviews looked good. After using this app for only a few hours, I don’t know how because I have experienced major bugs that prevent me from using it and considering filing a complaint with Apple. Three things I expect from a music score app 1) it will cost “something” for a large collection 2) I can search and find music, and 3) I can open music to play. The only thing this app has succeeded at is collecting my money. I keep getting errors about internet connection and 20 minutes, or just error - score not available, or even that scores are not available in my country - and this was happening for every score I was trying to open. I see there was a minor bug update yesterday right before I installed the app so no excuses it should fail as horribly as it does! About the details: new iPhone, 1TB storage, fiber internet, restarted everything, waited 10 hours and after re-opening worked for a few songs then full failure again. Side note, the website worked okay but lost a bunch of favorites I saved yesterday so another failure.

Ok at the beginning.... When I first downloaded this app I obviously had to read the reviews to see how good it was. I read the first one I came across. It stated mistakes and good things about the app, then I read a reply from the people who made this app. It said that they had fixed these problems. So I was using this app and it showed my favorite songs that I wanted to play on the piano. I had saved those songs in my favorite list, I went back to one of those songs to learn it. There wasn’t a problem there, until I wanted to listen to the audio. The button was just now working, so I figured that it just had to restart the application. When I went back in after restarting it, it wasn’t in my favorites list and when I went to search it up again it said there wasn’t any results. I hope these problems can be fixed, so I can use this app again. Thank you.

Bad since last update. The app has lost features that I used. The functions that are there don’t work correctly most of the time. I have contacted the company and have not received satisfactory answers. I paid for Pro so I would have access to advanced features on the app which allowed me to transpose the music and export PDFs of the music transposed and by single part if needed. I can no longer do that. The company has stated they are considering restoring those features, however, I can no longer use the app as I intended to. As the app is no longer of use to me, I stated I would pay for the months that I used, and requested a refund for the balance of that year. They have refused to refund my money or any portion of my purchase. They told me that I need to use a PC instead. That is not why purchased Pro which include the app. I would like to use the app the way it functioned in the past, if it does that in the near future I may change my rating, but for now serious disappointment in the app and the company’s response.

Same fate as everything else. It used to be free to download music and as a creator who uploaded music for people to use for free I hate to say it’s very monetized now. It’s only $10 a month but as someone who only needs sheet music once a month at most, usually less, i’d have to pay $10 per song or $180 for a year which is insane for sheet music unless you’re making money off it or something (I wouldn’t imagine any of it is commercial free anyway). It is also now riddled with ads and even pop up tab ads. I know something happened with the company a few years back. I don’t remember the details but it has been by far for the worse. The music program itself is still great and free and improving so I also understand the need for monetiziation, but I’m rating the app which is effectively the website, and there should be means other than subscriptions to allow people to more so pay for what they actually use.

Beware. I downloaded the app because I was curious about the song selection. I was having difficulty navigating it and I agreed to sign up for a 7-day free trial. I had a great deal of difficulty trying to print any of the music so I gave up and canceled my trial the exact same day I had signed up for it. Come to find out, there was a $30 charge visible on my PayPal account from this website. I have confirmation screenshots that I had canceled my trial the exact same day and after emailing customer support about this issue, I received a response to look over their terms of service which doesn’t help my issue at all. There was an advertised free trial and I was charged just for trying to use it. This feels like a scam. If you’re interested in checking this app out, I highly recommend checking whether you’ve been charged during your trial period. I’m glad I trusted my gut enough to take screenshots after starting my trial and for doing so again after I canceled the trial. Make sure to cover as many of your bases as you can and avoid this app at all costs.

Excellent application!. My first encounter with musescore was almost fifteen years ago when i was in high school, in the app's infancy. I had so much fun making music and playing around with the tools. Now it's a fully developed program and i use it every day as a music teacher, and encourage my students to look around at all the scores. It's an excellent teaching tool, excellent for arranging, and the repository of user-uploaded content is insanely useful and fun to look around. So many people writing down music they care about, with the ability to easily share it with others. I cannot say enough positive things about this application. And their most recent sound update? Ugh, so good! I'm more than happy to pay for the service to download the sheet music and help the developers make this app even better. Well done!!!

It’s actually good now.. I’m one of those people who’s never written a review for anything, and I was never going to. But MuseScore’s app changed at some point in a monumental way: where it used to be kind of clunky and hard to use because you couldn’t easily search for songs, or look at your favorites, you can do both of those things now! You can actually search for sheet music by genre and you can look through your favorites for easy access to the songs you like! I used to use the website instead because this app was almost useless in how slow it was without these changes, but now that it has these necessary features it’s way easier to use than the website, which is what an app’s all about! This app had a great turnaround with the newer updates, when most other apps would just stagnate in mediocre-ness. 👏🏼

…yes. This is by far the best sheet music app I’ve seen, a lot of these are well made but there isn’t enough people writing music to have many options. It’s always especially difficult for people who play less listened to instruments, i play flute and piccolo and can’t say it’s the easiest to find music when I can only find stuff for piano, I can still play the song with piano sheet music most of the time, but it’s usually really low and annoying, so I’d much prefer to just be able to find flute and piccolo music which is much easier in this app, I’ve found some really obscure stuff here that I didn’t think existed, there’s a lot of options,… plus I love that you can make it play the song, very convenient

Fantastic!. Muse score is basically the best app I've ever used to find music for different instruments. The ability to find music for different instruments makes it easy to put together little bands that can play together. The transposing button is awesome so you can change it to whatever key you want! The play button allows you to listen to how the score is supposed to be played giving you a place to start and sort of your own little teacher. You also have the option to print off scores, it's a little confusing, but worth the struggle. And the ability to write your own scores is awesome! They have an application that you can write music on and share with everyone! All in all, an awesome platform for writing and finding music!

Great, but finicky. I’ve found this app and the website to be one of the largest easily accessible score providers out there. It’s a wonderful platform for finding music from every corner of the internet and I love that, but I have one major gripe with it; that same accessibility is now behind a paywall with the recently enforced weekly score viewing limits (which is a terrible policy in all honesty). On top of that, the app continues to be incompatible with certain scores. So combine the two issues and now I am not only unable to use the app to view my music, but I cannot even use the website because I’m paywalled from the content. I did not mind the paywall previously because the app circumvents it as intended, but now it’s become a major headache. Either fix the compatibility issues or remove the terrible paywall.

this changed my lfime. I gave up everything for this app. My family, my friends, even my mental well being. This app has impacted my psyche like no other, when i open the app i feel like i can do anything. I improved so much in the time i had this app downloaded onto my mobile device; i went from playing hot cross buns to the moonlight sonata 3rd movement, in fact i made another movement: the moonlight sonata 4th movement was made by me because of how inspired i was to use this app and learn different piano pieces. I havent seen my wife OR the sun for at least 13 years because of how obsessed and addicted i am to this amazing app. In fact i exist only while online in this app, i dont even feel emotion unless im on this app. I could have fallen down 12 floghts of stairs and not felt anything as long as i didnt have this app open, So i thank you musecore. For changing my life

Trolls and unnecessary banning. This is a nice app and has a variety of different music sheets of all genres, and the website even has private chatting. However, there has been an increase of trolls and flamewars in the comment section that is taking up everyone’s feed. I was banned from my account, and I emailed the musescore staff asking why. They said I spammed. I did not spam. I followed up saying I never spammed, at least give me proof. They didn’t. They were just like “well we looked at the score and you violated this part of the terms of service because you spammed”. I was so aggravated. All my friends I ever made could only be contacted using musescore, and now I lost them all. The mean people who are always cussing and reporting innocent people for no reason at all are not being banned. I never did anything wrong. This is unfair. At least give proof after banning someone. You said you always look at the problem carefully and decide whether it’s really necessary or not to ban someone. You didn’t.

App is okay, subscription feels scammy. I’m not a serious musician, just wanted to learn some music for my brother in law’s wedding I’ve been asked to play for. The app is kind of cool, fun to play around with. So I signed up for the free trial and immediately cancelled the auto-renew. Got the confirmation email and went on my merry way. One week later, I got a scam alert on my card because I’d been billed $70 for a year subscription. Maybe I just didn’t read the terms closely enough, but come on. An honest company in this day and age can’t rely on people reading terms and conditions carefully. But a scammy company like this one can easily rely on people NOT carefully reading the terms and conditions. Sent a refund request the same day and got all but $10 back, so that’s better than nothing. I’m not going to fight to get my own money back since maybe it is my fault for not reading carefully enough, but I do want to make sure others can be made aware. The customer service is also extremely impersonal and unsatisfactory.

Frustrating. To start, the concept is nice. I’m a paying customer and have been for years, but this year especially has been infuriating. They keep changing the layout which messes up my practice. I’m not saying they changed it once or twice. I’m saying four or five times, today included. And now it won’t turn to the second page. It’s useless now. I updated the app and I’m about to restart my device, but an app should just work! Especially one that I’m paying for. Also the 3 different pay levels is ridiculous. With my service I don’t even get the official scores. I have to pay again if I want that. And every day that I log in it wants me to buy courses. I already know how to play. This app has made me mad more times than I can count. I’m ready to pay someone else that will keep their dev team from making constant changes to the layout and one that has services that makes more sense and doesn’t make me feel like I’m throwing money down the drain while they lock songs and ask for even more money. So done with this app.

Change default sound. I always listened to scores on my browser rather than the actual app because the browser has the actual sound of the piano the score has instead of the mediocre sounding one in the app itself. The browser version has been bugging out lately, the track keeps playing forwards when I click to replay a measure while it replays the measures visually so the measure highlighted isn’t what’s actually being played, and about a minute or so into a score the audio cracks loudly and the song restarts while the highlighted measures continue on. Because of that I can’t listen to scores on my browser because it’s severely bugged at the moment and using the app works but the piano sounds horrible. Sound means a lot to somebody like me. It would be nice if you could add the default piano sound rather than the apps current one that sounds nothing like the scores.

Don’t Make a Subscription!. MuseScore has some of the worst business practices I’ve ever seen. I signed up for a one week trial with MuseScore to test it. It was pretty good but I decided I don’t need to go PRO. So I canceled my subscription through the Apple app. Well... they never got the notification and decided to charge my paypal account that I used to set up my account. It wasn’t the monthly rate that they billed me for they went straight to the annual rate! Tried to contact them and they said they don’t refund according to their “policy.” Website doesn’t have a phone number just an email and when you try to respond back to their email they don’t. Try to contact their PayPal account they won’t get back with you. Tell your problem on the forum and ask to get a hold of customer service some rude guy named JoJo Schmidt responds. If I could give this app 0 stars I would. As for the app itself, it never worked always said I timed out. WORST COMPANY AROUND! SCAMMERS that aren’t there for customers just the money.

After Support, I Feel Better. After Support: Now that support has contacted me, I feel much better. For some reason the pro version I purchased liked to a different musescore account I used to use. I’m currently trying to figure out if I can move it to my active account. I still recommend using the computer version of musescore when possible since it is more put together than the mobile version, but the mobile version is convenient if you need to access your songs in the go. Before Support: I’ll change my review when I (1) get the pro version I paid for or (2) get a refund. I’m emailing support later to see if they can help me, but as of right now, they scammed me out of 6.99. Just use the website; you can use every feature free there.

Great free sheet music option. I have been using MuseScore for about 1 year now and here are my thoughts. It is a well put together app giving creative musicians a chance to express themselves through sheet music. I have found some very impressive pieces of music even as a level 8 piano player (advanced) that are perfect for my level. Despite not ever purchasing any sort of subscription on the app. Once in a while you may find errors in the music, but that’s to be expected considering this is music uploaded by other people and not professionals. If all your looking for is sheet music to your favourite songs, the free version of the app does not limit you at all! Highly highly recommend if you’re looking for a free access to sheet music that varies from several different levels.

An incredible app that makes me want to play. looking for scores can be such a hassle sometimes and often when Im looking for a decent interpretation for a piece I like Its always behind some paywall. This is THE place for free music and honestly with the amount of people making scores for this app its not limited to just one genre or level. From begginer to experienced EVERYTHING is here. I began using the payed version after they made a limit for the ammount of scores you can view per day but tbh the limiting wasnt really a problem in the first place. I only have the premium just to support the app because of what it got me through from my first few years learning piano. Now, with the free version you can still do just as much and Id recommend everyone trying musescore at least once. Final note: One of my crazy music friends straight up composes pieces on this app and its impressive what he can do, so just the sheer power of musescore is impressive. Tldr; Cool app, fun scores

WARNING to potential users. Do not create a login for this app. I purchased a pro+ membership on their website using a credit card. It is supposed to include free use across all platforms including this application. So, I logged into this app and it told me that I was involved in some sort of trial membership and that they are going to charge me hundreds of dollars in 7 days after the “free” trial ends unless I cancel before the trial ends. However, the app does not provide a way to cancel the trial. In fact, it tries to lead you through a path where your only option is to immediately purchase that expensive membership. I refuse to press the button to immediately purchase the overpriced membership. So, the app is stuck at that point and I can’t do anything else on the app. I tried to click the App support button on this page. It brings up an error stating that the page doesn’t exist. So, I don’t know what to do next. There is a forum group on their website for paid members only. There are other paid members who tried to use this app and had an experience similar to mine and no support or resolution from the vendor.

Please, use songsterr for tabs instead of this garbage.. My friend wrote me up some tabs and put them on this app so I could learn his songs, downloaded this and it’s absolute mess. The tab in question has all the lead & rhythm guitars, as well as my bass part, so it defaults to zoomed way out, so much so that the numbers are so tiny they start pixelating. I have to zoom in so far to even be able to see the numbers that I can only read about a bar or two of music at a time, and when I play through the song every time it transitions to the next slide of tabs the app zooms way back out to where I can’t even read anything again. Also there is no way I can rewind or skip through specific sections of songs, only the option to start the whole song over from the beginning. You’d think that the bar at the bottom of the screen would allow you to rewind a slide or two? Why is it only there to show me how many slides of tabs I have gotten through? This has been driving me up the wall trying to learn these songs. I WOULD NOT be using this app if it wasn’t my only choice, and from my experiences I'm sorry to say I cannot recommend. If you’re a musician looking for an actual good tab app, please go to songsterr instead of this garbage.

Good, does what it needs to and more. Pushy on the payment. It has a solid selection of sheet music tracks, both official and custom user-made. The options to favorite and comment are nice for advice sharing as well as sorting, but the ability to Download scores and listen to them? That's amazing for the price. (I forget what I paid, but it was pretty reasonable for someone who grabs a few scores per month) About money-- that's the only reason it's not 5 stars. I opened it one day, and it asked me to pay. That seemed odd, since I'd renewed it just days before. I signed out, reinstalled, and nothing. It wouldn't let me continue until I paid. I actually came here to complain, but right before, I found out that you can actually skip the payment window by following a specific menu path with hidden buttons. It was for an extra OPTIONAL service, too. What I thought was a bug was, in fact, an intentional design choice. This worries me. This is a five star service which hasn't changed at the core, but that deceptive paywall is something I can't overlook, especially since it's during sign-up. I hope Musescore doesn't stray further down the path of anti-consumer design. I like what you have, Musescore, but if you get more brazen about trying to steal my money, then I'll go and find someone else who respects me more. Please don't become evil, Musescore

A good app with a major discoverability problem. As an intermediate pianist trying to re-acquaint myself with reading music, I loved the interface for playing, and there is a wide selection of music available. Unfortunately, there isn’t any searching or discoverability features other than filtering by instrument. I can’t search based on difficulty, popularity, new/old, or anything else that might help me find anything other than the top 10 songs that are shown by default. To me, this renders the app unsuitable for my purposes. I would expect basic filtering/sorting, and also some kind of “playlists” feature where similar songs could be grouped so I could find a bunch of songs at around the right level that I could play through. Something to get me as quickly as possible into the deep well of content available on the app.

Don’t see PRO as a very wise choice.... Recently, MuseScore has changed its site entirely and requires a PRO subscription to download and print almost all music created by writers or translators. Before, it was a simple site where people could share music as a recreation and people would download them, and MuseScore would make money through advertisement. I may be biased and understand funds, but I believe the choice of ‘PRO’ mode isn’t a wise one. The reason MuseScore was such a popular site in the first place is because it was free, could be easily navigated, and was the software for creating music was highly polished. Creators are supposed to get the ‘benefit’ from pro mode, as their content can’t be downloaded without permission. Still, people who are trying to make money out of sheet music shouldn’t be uploading on a site like MuseScore anyways! You should be charging users for using the creation software, not the browsers if you aren’t already. The ‘PRO’ mode can still be easily bypassed, so there’s no point in upgrading anyways.

Seems a little shady. I had a free trial - printed out the sheet music I was looking for - which by the way was formatted weird and started half a page down so the top half was blank - there was no title or composer attached to the print out so I had to write it in myself. Anyway, I forgot to cancel my pro subscription, asked for a refund, and they said no, we can give you 35% refunded OR ten months free after your year. Then I responded with no I just want a refund i won’t be using this app…every other time this has happened with a different company they’ve refunded me there’s been no issue. They THEN respond, “ok we’ve refunded you the difference between the yearly and monthly version” - - so I'm out $10 which is a month long cost. It’s shady that this wasn’t an option in their first response email. And also why does every other company have the ability to refund me the full amount but they’re unable to. I suppose I can understand, but not the fact that they left it out of their first response with all my “options”, when they then quoted their policy I can get a difference of yearly/monthly cost within the first 14 days if I cancel. So just weird vibes!

Scam. I signed up for a PRO subscription years ago while I was working as a private lesson teacher. As I no longer am in that field of work, I canceled auto-renew in September, and received a confirmation email that I had done so, and they were sorry to see me go. Then, upon noticing that it was somehow still active, I canceled auto-renew AGAIN in December, and received ANOTHER confirmation email. Now, in February, I was charged $49 to renew my subscription for a year! When I asked for a refund, and sent proof of the confirmation emails, they told me that because I had not canceled before the start of the billing period, that my purchase was fully pre-authorized and they cannot issue a refund. I DID CANCEL, TWICE! AND SENT PROOF! He said because of the “inconvenience of the existing situation” that he spoke to “his head office” and they could give me a “special offer” of a 55% refund or 10 months extension on my subscription — a subscription which I don’t even want and tried to cancel twice before being notified they had billed me. The lackluster response email they sent was sent from a “do not reply” email account, so that I couldn’t even re-attach the proof that I had canceled the PRO account and reiterate that they need to refund me in full. I’m going to have to take this up with my bank. Ironic that I thought I was helping the “little guy” by supporting this app. What a joke.

Worse than the website. Hi, I’m a trombone player I have been play it for a year now and I was looking for a good app/website to print out some video game music to perform with my friends and I came across the website for this I thought this would be good, and I can easily print something out to play it but no. One you have to pay for everything which would be fine and stuff, but paying money to print some thing that just seems a lot. it also keeps trying to get me to download the app so I do it the same only there is no print button and if I download it as a PDF I can’t only get trombone it’s really buggy and hard to use and when I tried to do the free trial, it just simply didn’t work it cut off half the things on the screen so I would have to turn my tiny phone, which, then I couldn’t even read the music the music that I want is only on this app so it really frustrates me that I can’t do what I want to do with 1. not having to pay 2. it being super buggy. would not recommend for anyone trying to print or practice something if you’re just trying to listen to something then it’s for you. Ps. i’m not too good at making constructive criticism. and my grammar is horrible. Hope you can make this app a little more user-friendly

Good right now, but could be much better.. So this would be a 4 star, but there’s one thing that I think would make this app a whole lot better. That thing is, to be able to make score sheets in the app, or at least have an app that solely focuses on the ability to make score sheets that pairs with this app, as in you could upload scores you make in the supposed sister app from this app. And I haven’t exactly come across some of the issues other users have had with this app, except for when I try to open score sheets that are very long, so for instance medleys which tend to be over 10 or 20 minutes long. Every time I try to open a very long score sheet on the app, it freezes and I can’t do anything except for close the app and relaunch it. Meanwhile, the website has little to no problem opening the same exact score, and just to be clear I use a laptop that is over 2 or 3 years old, it’s a Dell and is not exactly great, and I use google chrome as my default browser. Other than that I don’t have any real problems with the app, and if you could conjure up something that allows users to make score sheets on their mobile device and upload from this app when on the go, that would be quite a make up for the mentioned “issues” that users comment on that I can’t seem to find or come across.

Helpful, but flawed. The service that MuseScore offers is fantastic: a way to easily compose music and share it. The companion app, however, is rough around the edges and borderline unusable at points. UI/usability glitches include: menus that come back after you dismiss them; music pages changing erratically; irrelevant results throughout the search menu; internet searches showing up and blocking out the My Favorites tab; menu areas not extending to the edges of the screen; the inconsistency when hiding UI elements while looking at a piece of music; every song you’ve favorited being forgotten about; occasional account logouts you didn’t ask for; etc. The core function of this app is still present with a lot of time spent navigating, but sweeping renovations are needed to make it feel clean and friendly. I hope more development goes into making this a more seamless user experience.

Great app. Helpful song selection. Any opportunity for limiting hard copy sheet music?. Hello, I pay for the subscription to your app and have been happy because I can find many of the songs I want to learn on your app. I only have one main question. Can I download pdf versions of my songs onto a tablet, kindle, or iPad and scroll each page as I play on my keyboard? This would offer a customer like me a few vital benefits, such as the limit of money I spend to print several pages per each piece, eliminate the space I need to keep track of all my hard copy songs, easier searching when I want to play a song I haven’t practiced recently, and a much easier time flipping through pages of the song while I play. As always the library of songs offered for me is the primary benefit and more is wonderful. I love current popular music, I occasionally download classical music on the piano. I don’t play any woodwind instrument so I take my guitar sheet music from other apps. Any suggestions on electronically updating my sheet music practice I’d appreciated.

Unreliable, unresponsive, and a huge downgrade. Since the MuseScore Songbook app was retired and replaced with this app—which, as I understand it, new users actually have to pay a consistent fee to use—I’ve almost never been able to functionally listen to scores on my phone. When I download a MuseScore file, it’s a gamble as to whether it’ll stay in my Songbook or just display an indefinite loading screen. If I manage to get past that, sometimes scores will just crash while playing, often on their very first page, even if they’re very simple scores. Then, somehow, if I get lucky enough to be able to play an entire score, I have to grapple with extremely finicky and unclear controls. If I want to skip back to a specific measure, I’m left struggling with the unresponsive page-turning mechanic and have to try multiple times until the app will let me select my desired measure. Of course, that’s all assuming the UI is even showing up around the score in the first place; I think you’re supposed to tap to bring it up and tap again to see only the score, but it’s more like it decides at random. If you’re going to establish a subscription service for your app, put out a quality product. At the very least, it should have maintained the already mediocre quality of the old Songbook app. Instead, the drop in quality is beyond baffling. Please invest in hiring legitimate app developers, and maybe a MuseScore subscription would finally be worth recommending.

Predatory Monetization. This app was once excellent and I would have given it 5 stars, but it has been updated recently and introduced a “Pro” feature for $50 a year. What were once free features available to all (things like offline viewing, auto scrolling the sheet during playback etc) are now locked behind the Pro subscription as well as now serving ads to free users. I would have happily paid money for this app in its previous state (I can’t remember if it was paid or not originally - I have used it for a while now), but I cannot support the decision to lock absolutely basic quality of life features behind a yearly $50 subscription. I am giving it 2 stars, since it does work quite well, but I would have easily given it 5 if it were not for this predatory monetization practice. In its current form I cannot recommend it to anyone. Find a different sheet music app to give your money to.

Something Went Wrong…. This is the message I get after using the app for about 15 minutes when selecting a piece of music to view. Several hours later, it will start working again but only for a short amount of time. I keep checking for updates and make sure I always update. I had been using this app for awhile before I decided to purchase a subscription to get the full benefits. Now, I’m getting less. I am running iOS 16.1; I have restarted the app, restarted my phone. Nothing works. This is an incredible app for what it offers and I have been rating it 5 stars easily; but today it’s a 2 star rating and will remain that way until this issue is fixed. I don’t want a refund I simply want the app to work again. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Shady business practices and poor customer service. I attempted to sign up for a one-week free trial of MuseScore Pro on their website to see if the service would be useful. In the process of signing up, I was given a chance to opt for what looked like a special summer deal at a reduced rate, but it was not clear that this special price did not include the free week. I noticed within 40 minutes that I'd been charged and immediately canceled my account and initiated a refund request with customer service. After trading emails for a couple of days, they finally agreed to a 25% refund. Whether MuseScore contains quality scores or not, I don't (and won't know), because I won't use it. But it is clear that their customer "service" is anything but. Perhaps it should have been obvious that the cheaper rate did not include the free trial, but the lack of a grace period is inexcusable. I'd advise anyone against giving this company any of your money. Update: After sending the above review to their support, they promised a 100% refund (processing times being what they are, I haven’t received it yet). I appreciate the refund, but it’s annoying that it was so hard to get, and my trust is obviously lost.

Very Buggy. I am a MuseScore user and have been since 2014, and donated towards development of the mobile app when it was in unusable testing phases. I love this website but the app has been utterly disappointing. Half of the time I try to use the app it gives error messages or just crashes. Most developers would have fixed these issues or at least suppressed them, but the MuseScore developers have had bugs in the app for as long as I’ve used the app. That was around 3 years for the full release version, not including development. The community scores aren’t great and there is no good system of finding the quality scores that are so rare. You have to pay your way into downloading scores or accessing professionally done sheet music, which is NOT included in the useless Pro subscription. While this app may be better than most other free sheet music apps, it has its overdose of problems and issues. -Love KaidenSkinner

I need an account? Seriously?. I don’t know how good or bad the actual functions of the app are, because it wouldn’t let me try any of them out. I literally can’t do a single thing in the app without signing into an account. Sure, I expected some features to be locked behind in-app purchases, but you won’t even let me try it before I decide to make an account. I would rather pay for the app outright and be able to use it straight away than to pay for “free” content with my user data. Seriously, whatever happened to apps that just work? I’m tired of having to create an account for every single app on my phone, and it honestly just feels like a shady attempt to gather user data if they won’t allow literally any of the app’s functionality to be used without an account. So I just deleted it. I’ll find something else, or maybe just stick with the desktop app. Response to Developer: I understand that having an account comes with personalized benefits, but I expect to be able to use the app without an account, even if the functionality is limited. Signing in to an account should make a good app great. It shouldn’t be required to use the app at all.

It’s a great software.. So, I haven’t actually written a review for an app before, so bare with me. Essentially, this app, along with its desktop application is very reliable. I am a high school student, and I can’t Pat for premium music composition software, but MuseScore has my back. I’ve used it for 6 years, and they’ve done a great job at receiving feedback and getting back to people. Personally, I haven’t experienced many problems, tho I don’t use it as a job either. Not only does it allow you to create music, transpose, arrange, and everything in between, it creates communities with similar interests, instruments and music styles. This app for being free (assuming you’re not purchasing pro) gives all of that. The pro version I have not been able to personally get, but when I get to college I’m definitely thinking of investing into it. It helped me express myself with music writing, and helped me compose my first piece that was played at my high school. I definitely recommend this app to people who just wanna get the chance to write music, it’s the audio art anyway!

Amazing App, but One Issue.... I have used this app endlessly for about two years now, and I have found so many songs that I love listening to. A cool feature is in this app where I can see the music to a singular part to learn the piece if I wanted. All up until a month ago, I was able to play multiple parts on this feature (e.g. Bass Clarinet sheet music is on screen, and Bassoon and Baritone Saxophone parts are also playing), but then it became buggy for a bit, then got fixed recently. However, in that bug (idk if it is intentional or just on my end), it would only let me play either the part on screen or all at once, which I found annoying as someone who listens to many concert band arrangements, and wants to combine a small number of parts together at a time. If this is a bug, can you fix it? And if it was intentionally removed, can you add it back? It was one of the main reasons I use this app so frequently. Thanks!

PLEASE READ. Before this update the app was AMAZING and I loved it to death. I’m an advanced pianist and I use this app every day. I take it on the go wherever there’s a piano. This means there usually wasn’t WiFi available so I downloaded the music to my songbook (thanks to the $2.99 one time purchase which is very efficient and blessed 10/10). I would proudly say I used MuseScore whenever someone asked where I got my sheet music. It was amazing and was my favorite app. I’m sorry, but this new update is worse than ever, the format is intimidating and bland and now you guys are just pulling even more money from people’s pockets. The notes are automatically zoomed out and tiny and it’s gonna be annoying to keep zooming in on the notes every time I open a piece of music. The quality itself just downgraded so badly I feel like I’m using iOS 6 and I’m taken back to the era of iPhone 4’s. I can’t download music to my songbook without the subscription- worse yet, more than half the songs downloaded to my songbook disappeared. 6.99 subscription every month? Come on, you’re kidding yourselves. I know you need to make some profit but subscriptions draw people away. Monthly or annual payments? What a shame. Please take it back to the previous system and formatting. It was PERFECT and was working GREAT before. There was absolutely no need to update this. Otherwise, I’m very upset and disappointed with the app I once adored. Please take this into consideration and fix it.

Absolutely in love with the concept, not the way it currently functions.. This app is amazing where transcribers, song writers, and general musicians can share their work and provide others the opportunity of learning something they can’t anywhere else. I especially love to reference this app for A Cappella because of the amazing transcribers found on this platform. There are major downsides, simply with the way it functions. Some features work one day, but either completely don’t work or crash the app another day. For instance, the option to listen to individual parts was somewhat functional, but then its button changed to “transpose” and I thought that was a pro feature. The individual part selector is something I relied on as a free feature as a chorus member. Sometimes when trying to listen to individual staves or parts, it will still play the other parts, and I would have to back out of the music and go back in just for it to work. Sometimes when listening to the song as a whole, the bar that indicates where you are in the song is ahead of behind of the audio, making it challenging or confusing to follow along. Again, the concept of the app is like no other and revolutionizes the music world, but it’s coming up short with its lack of reliability in functionality.

Just a big pain. If this app actually worked, I would love it! I play the piano and the trumpet and this app has a ton of awesome songs to play. The day I downloaded it, everything was great, I found some really great music, learned some cool things, and just overall had a great time. But since then, the app has just been horrible. The interface covers up a whole line of music, and if you try to remove the interface it works sometimes, other times it doesn’t work and often it will misunderstand and turn the page. However, If you try to turn the page, most of the time it won’t do anything or it will toggle the interface. The problem is, there aren’t any controls for the functions you want, you just have to tap, swipe, or pound on the screen until it does what you want it to. Oh yeah, also, often if you turn the page it does the little page turn animation but doesn’t actually turn the page. Then no matter how many times you try to turn the page, it just stays as the same page of music (or it toggles the interface and you scream at your phone and you post a lengthy-one star review about how much you hate MuseScore)

Has become an indispensable tool. With COVID lockdowns and the restrictions on liturgical choirs, I was able to convert Kyivan Chant polyphonic liturgical hymns into monophonic ones quickly and easily, and now we have a permanent library of scores which are easily accessible for all cantors. Musescore3 is simple to use once you get the hang of how to do things and you’ll wonder how you managed without it!

What happened to this app?!. Use to be my go-to when it came to sheet music but recently the app has become COMPLETELY unusable. Every time I open the app I have to relog back in, the search engine crashes and makes the screen flash white do I can't search anything and on the odd chance that I do manage to search someone and click into the sheet music I want... Give it three seconds before it takes me out of that score and back to the search page or better yet; just kicks me from my account. I'm begging you... FIX THIS. This app is completely broken, that I haven't gotten a score from it in months.

Icons and interactables are not visible!. It’s a great up however it needs fixing! I tried reinstalling the app however it still results the same - all the gui are not visible for me! However I can still press on it no matter if I can’t see it. Please fix developers!!

MuseScore's the best. As a Finale user since 2009 I was horrified when they very quietly abandoned plans for the iOS version fix. They said it was easier to abandon it. That's typical of Finale; excellent notation with poor support. I've now been using MuseScore for quite a few years and never had a problem with notation or support. Guess which I turn to first!

Not good.. GREAT. It is a very useful app that helps me find pieces I love and learn them with easy to understand formatting, metronome, pace.. I only think that an improvement should be that there should be a way to allow note names to appear above the notes. Maybe add a button which activates this. Otherwise this is a very good tool to learn with

This is the worst app I have ever used. For the past few days I have been fiddling with this app as I have not used it in a long time. All I have been trying to do is read sheet music that I paid and bought. Through further investigation it has refused me from making any alterations and after crashing on me multiple times I have given up. I have tried to use this app on my phone and computer as I originally starting using this app a few years on the computer when it was functional. As I have the computer program it does not allow me to use any compositions that I have bought or downloaded and when I try to do anything with it constantly refers me to the app on my mobile device. After further attempting to download the app on my phone, more problems begin to occur. After seeing the same issue as before of the constant buggyness and permanent redirecting to buy the subscription. I am then blocked out of using the transcript after using it to its full capability for 5 minutes. All I am trying to do is read a piece of sheet music that I paid for that I can not find anywhere else on the internet and for some reason has been so aggravating that I’m deleting the app.

Useful in theory, terrible in practice. For some songs it’s great, really useful, but for the majority they are either locked behind a pay wall or completely inaccessible within the app. With almost half of the songs I’ve tried to view, the app has just told me to look it up in the browser version, like what???? And then the browser version has a limit so I’m stuck because I can’t access the song through the app and I can’t access it through the browser. It’s clear all these guys care about is making money, don’t waste your time, just stick with the browser version

The website is better. I was listening to one of the scores in the app, but at one point, the music hung and by then it was on the next part of the song. The hanging caused a weird effect of the music slowing down and speeding up. Other than this, and the ads that pop up every now and then, it made a decent app, but I’d still rather use the website, due to the ads being small and not covering the entire screen and the delay in scores in it being less noticable that the app’s.

The app of a music reading muso dreams! Fix up the menu bug!. Incredible work, only issue is I can’t see the menus! Same on the iPad version so you blindly stab around where they are and eventually get there

Where have the chord letters gone with the latest update?. His app has been great, finding a wide variety of songs I never would have found. It was working fine on Friday, then all of the sudden he chord letters disappeared from lead sheets. I can only chord extensions (e.g. 7, m7 etc.). The chords appear in the thumbnail, but not when I open the score. I left it over the weekend and no fix. I deleted the app and reinstalled, but same issue persists.

Constant crashes, bad typos. The new update appears to have manually added internet lag to MuseScore. For some arcane reason, I’m sure, but the effect is that if your internet is not perfect, you are no longer able to access any scores at all, instead greeted with a “Check your connection” screen. I have sufficient connection for everything else that requires internet on an iPad - I just downloaded the hell update, after all. The declining quality of updates made clear by the frequent glitched states and more and more common basic typos and grammar edits has clearly culminated in this app-breaking update. This, unfortunately, seems to mark the end of my four-year relationship with MuseScore. Here’s hoping it is soon fixed.

Great app!. MuseScore is a pretty good database of pieces ranging from Mozart Symphonies to Tchaikovsky Concertos. However, I have two complaint, some pieces such as Mozart’s Sonata in C Major 309 only has the 3rd movement, without the first or second. MuseScore, if you’re reading this, please add an entire catalog of OFFICIAL scores for prominent composers such as Bach and Mozart. Also, for some scores, since they are uploaded by the community, sometimes, there is little to no fingerings. I’m using MuseScore as a digital alternative to physical scores but, the fingerings are non existent, and the formatting can also be quite weird. MuseScore, if you’re reading this, please fix this by having proper OFFICIAL scores that are properly edited. Otherwise, I recommend MuseScore! (P.s the subscriptions for MuseScore are a bit confusing, at first I thought that MuseScore Pro+ was the best, but then I found it that it was MuseScore One. Please make the subscriptions more clear and concise.)

Excellent Score Management App. MuseScore is an excellent app for anyone looking to to download and listen to musical scores. The app allows you to browse through, listen to, and even download any of the hundreds of thousands of scores on the platform. Would highly recommend to anyone interested in this sort of thing.

Log outs. It never remembers who I am. Every time I leave the app it says I have to sign back in again. They need to fix that. Also the filter system sort of glitches out for me sometimes and doesn’t include the instrument I put into it. Used to have lots of great songs but recently it’s like they’ve disappeared. Even songs I had apparently saved are now just gone Other than that though it is a good app.

Hopeless and a sellout. I had used this app for a while, it never had much variety, most of the songs I wanted to sing weren’t there and the times they were they usually had mistakes. This was ok however when it was a one time purchase. However for the price of their subscription the quality and variety of music is poor. If you are going to spend money on sheet music you’d be better just going and getting an authentic copy instead of wasting your time with this app.

Good app but surprised by sudden subscription. I had a look at the app and decided to use the free trial two days ago only to find out today I’ve been charged for a yearly subscription. Having said that it’s a great app so after the surprise I’m happy to use it seeing that I have paid for it.

Keeps on asking me to create an account though I have an active subscription. We have been using the app for more than a year and have a valid subscription up to middle of this year. No issues last year and this was a major tool my daughter used as part of her musical training. Lately when opening the app it keeps on asking me login, and once you have done so it asks you buy a subscription. My recourse has been to keep on restoring purchases which seems to solve the issue for the meantime, but the issue will again resurface after viewing a few songs. So very annoying and distracts you from enjoying the app.

Perfect!. As a late beginner to learning the piano, I am finding the MuseScore app (as well as the desktop program) just perfect for digitising my music and then using the app for practice. The app makes it so easy and enjoyable to practice whole scores or even just to listen to a few bars at different tempos whenever I like. And it is so convenient to have all my music available on my iPad (with the great zoom feature for my terrible eyesight) and not be trying to control all the bits of printed paper. I downloaded the app quite recently and I am already noticing improvement in my practice sessions. The piano sound is really nice too. Thank you very much.

Accidentally paid for subscription. Took a while to get my head around the app but now it seems to be working well. Easier to use on desktop computer I found. Hope I can make the most of it.

Excellent Variety of Music. This is an excellent sheet music app. It has a variety of genres with varying levels from beginners to advanced pieces. In addition to the sheet music, there’s an audio feature which plays the music with adjustable volume and speed. The music can be broken down in segments for ease of practising. Theres a metronome which can be turned on and off. There are multiple instruments but I only use the piano. I cannot recommend it enough.

♪It’s Decent... ♫. Hello to whoever is reading this. Musescore is a okay app. You can access different sheet music and there is also a practice mode. But the main problem, and the reason I’m only giving is ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆ (3 stars) is because it glitches. A LOT. For example, if you are in the count down to start the song and pause it, it won’t allow you to pause it at all, making the pause butting useless. To fix that you have to exit the score, and then re-open it. Another one I faced is when I exited the score I was previously on, the screen that shows a list of scores got stuck and only showed half of the screen. (I’m sorry if that is very hard to understand). And there are also quite a few ads. Something else I’d like to add is there are a lot of features that they advertise, but the only way to use them is by buying PRO. Sorry but, I’m not going to spend $70 annually to get some stupid features and no ads. Please fix the things I have spent 10 minutes writing about. From somebody who has been using Musescore for a year ツ

Becaureful before you subscribe.. The app it self has no problem but there will be no full refund for Auto renew subscribe even though you didn’t use the service. They gave me 2options for refund which both sound not fair for users when they fairly asking refund. Terms of conditions are very Vague and not clean. Feels like i have got scammed by them and won’t use this app for forever Option a: 10-months additional access + your current 1-year PRO access + PRO features in mobile apps included (by choosing this option you'll get in total 22 months of PRO without additional charges) Option b: 45% refund + your current 1-year PRO access + PRO features in mobile apps included (this way you'll get back 45% of the paid funds and keep the 12-month subscription).

Unable to create own scores. I used this app on my MacBook for school and didn’t need to pay a subscription, and I was excited to see that it for there for my ipad, but I needed it for composition, and I could find no way to compose my own song without buying a hundred dollar yearly subscription. I am extremely disappointed and now have to resort to another app, when I was extremely happy with this on my laptop. It is completely outrageous.

It was good until. I hadn’t used the app for a while and I went back to it cause I wanted toy learn a new song. I accidentally clicked on a button which apparently was to buy the premium version which I didn’t want. Because I can’t make in app purchases because of restrictions this little pop up of no in app purchases allowed and I clicked ok but it kept coming up to the point where I could swipe up and to exit out of the app I had to turn off my turn it back on and then swipe up before the pop up came up again. I would’ve like to just be able to search up my music and play instead of closing the app and not being able to play the song or any for that matter. Pls fix this bug 🐞

A very useful application for choir singers.. This app allows choir members to filter out the distraction so that one could focus only on the part relevant. The only thing I wish is the ability to set markers and start from any of the markers, and to more easily loop within any of the saved markers. I wish this app could play in the background and while the phone is locked.

I really needed this app-. It’s so hard for me to find sheet music for the songs I want to learn and I’m so happy I found this app because now I can accurately learn the piano pieces I wanna! ^^ So happy and I love how the app has multiple different genres not just classical, or pop. Would absolutely recommend downloading it weather or not your a beginner or a full pro, it really helps out a lot.

Great app but has show stoppers. I have been enjoying using this app but for one issue that makes it somewhat useless to me - in a score with lots of instrument parts the score is so tiny on the iPad that it is basically unreadable on a piano music rest, there is far too much score on the screen to be able to see individual notes and chords. If I pinch and zoom to enlarge a section to a useful size to actually see the manuscript it snaps straight back as soon as I lift a finger. In the end I have to do things the old way and print it on paper. If I am just concentrating on the piano part I cannot use the app as a music score for learning and sight reading, the app just is not configurable enough to act as an electronic music book for live playing.

Love this App!!. As someone who has been playing for many years this is such a game changer to the old printed sheets where you would forever be shuffling sheets around and turning pages! Now i play soley off my ipad :D I bought the pro version and think it is amazing value for money considering I used to spend $20-$30 on a music book. I love how you can save music to favourites, and the practice mode is just amazing how you can turn the speed up or down - it’s just the best thankyou!

Careful. I am so disappointed. I looked at the free trial of this app but decided it wasn’t for me. I went online to cancel two or three days ago and saw that I was on a free trial. I can’t remember the wording but felt that I wasn’t subscribed to pro. I couldn’t see a place to cancel so assumed wrongly that I would be notified or get a reminder. Anyway I’ve been charged for an annual subscription that is useless to me. For people who don’t subscribe to much the process should be more transparent. So many sneaky tactics these days to get money from unsavvy people.

You have to pay for specific things. This is really good I just you have to pay for specific things, like can’t we just have something for free? Other than that their selections is really good

Clicked on Free Trial to try it out but immediately charged.. As the heading states, I clicked on Free Trial Period and immediately got charged a subscription for 12 months. I have now cancelled the subscription because, even if it is a fabulous app, I think I was conned into a subscription without having the ability to trial the app.

something this app needs is to show the notes. So as someone being introduced and teaching my self keyboard and not knowing music theory especially how to sight read, this app proves difficult for me to learn new pieces, on pc it’s no worries I can highlight the piece and find the notes... but on this app... with out being able to see the notes this app is useless for someone like me who cannot sight read.... get flowkey until they implement this into the app... as for me this app is unless with out it and also disappointed I paid so much for it when the pc app can do it but this iPad app cannot.... utterly ridiculous

Good app. Providing a space for artists to share their inspiring piece of music and a platform for growing artist to learn from them. Love it. One suggestion tho, when you having a controlling panel come up it is a little bit annoying how the screen keep adjusting to it, I would prefer if it will just show on top so the size of sheet won’t shift. But many thanks Also really wish there is some sort of pen control that i cna write over it or i can at least export it to pdf so i can do it myself But many thanks again!

The gui doesn’t fit on screen. I have an iPhone 7 and the gui doesn’t seem to fit on screen correctly. I install the app and then am greeted with a bunch of questions about my preferences etc.. then it gives me a screen that says I’ve successfully created my profile but I can’t see any way to close it and move on.. this making the app useless. I assume there’s either a continue button or an x to tap at either the bottom or top of the screen but as the pop up seems to be larger than my screen I can’t see them to click. Pretty poor effort that there’s no way to scroll or modify the gui to fit. I’ve tried force quitting te app and starting again but it just goes back to the preference questions so the app is useless.

It’s hard to understand. When I firsted open the app I chose to do piano and the flute but I wanted to be a beginner and learn but when I bought the pro it didn’t let me start?? I don’t know if I had to get a different one but when I press on a course it said learn for free and when I pressed on it I had to pay a lot of money but I already bought the pro so I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. If possible can you please help me out with this issue I am having because I just want to learn. I’m very confused right now.

Paid subscription - have no access. Paid for a subscription - access was never made available - contacted app- absolutely no reply - really disappointed

What's happening?. I have successfully used this app on my iPad to share, via Dropbox, the U3A recorder group music arrangements done by me or the other music director of our group for the last few years. Now, suddenly My Library lists what's there but when I go to open a file it very, very briefly shows the music then I get a "Sorry, this file is unavailable" message. Can someone tell me why this is happening? I'm very disappointed as there are a few in our group who only work from an iPad/tablet and cannot access the laptop version. Thank you in advance for your assistance. DB

Website is better than app. I’ve usually used MuseScore on my computer but when I started using the app on my iPad, it’s just ‘okay’. The worst part I found was searching for scores, as it never searches for the name and in the search filter only can search by ‘comment count’, ‘view count’, ‘rating’, and ‘upload date’, none of which search for what I typed into the search bar, it gives me random scores I don’t want, whereas the website doesn’t do this and I easily find what I’m looking for. Another thing is the constant promotions every time I open the app, I get promoting is good for business but I don’t have to be taken to a different screen each time, and then close it just to open some sheet music.

Musescore is great but,. I love using Musescore and I have been for quite a while now, however I do not like the new update because I can’t access my favourite sheet musics anymore and it was the easier to use it instead of searching it up each time. I definitely reccomend this to any other musicians looking for access to hundreds of sheet musics out there.

Great app, not a fan of the support. Love the app, there are so many pieces to play and is well worth the subscription to print off the music. My main problem however, is that the app registers my self as a pro member, but gives none of the benefits. I am mainly concerned about my ability to view ‘official scores’ because every time I attempt it, it says I must pay subscription. Other than that however, I love the variety of pieces and being able to print it off is amazing.

Great app but some problems. I’m overall happy with MuseScore but so far I couldn’t view any scores I published from iOS app, while they are fine from web browser, have lodged a ticket a week ago but no one respond. Hopefully it can be addressed soon.

Great app except for when saving scores. I’ve been a MuseScore subscriber for a while now and want to give them 5 stars. However, they have changed a very useful feature recently which is extremely frustrating. On the app I could change the key and save the score in the different key to my device. Now when I try to do it, it reverts to the original key! I don’t want to read from the MuseScore app as It is not practical when offline. Why has this useful feature been taken away?

Improved the system to complete uselessness. This used to be such a great app. Now it’s full of glitches. Even though there’s a function where you allegedly can view the score as a single line, the damned thing never allows you to do it. It used to be easy to set metronome speed and music tempo and it used to stay on that settingn until you changed it. Now you have to change it every time you open a score. If the app hadn’t automatically renewed my subscription and I’m paying a fair whack of money for it, if scrap it.

worst app ever, customer support team does not care about customers.. i would never recommend musescore to anyone. the “support” team clearly does not care about, let alone support its customers at all. they need to be fired immediately or undergo intensive training in being civilised towards customers. my friend, who is a single mother working 70 hour weeks, was taken advantage of by the musescore team as they attempted to gaslight her into believing she had no option but to surrender her hard earned money towards this useless app as she had not been able to cancel her subscription in time due to her working. now, her 3 children will starve for a week. thanks musescore! think of these poor, helpless, vulnerable children, who, because of the greedy, money-hungry, capitalist musescore will not be able to eat a single morsel for 7 long days. furthermore, these options that were provided were not in like with their own terms and conditions - do they believe that their customers are stupid? how offensive. i myself am a corporate lawyer with 49 years of experience and i will be taking musescore to court should i believe it is necessary. #F***CAPITALISM

The App I've always been looking for!. I'm a self-taught beginner/intermediate learner and have always found having to buy songbooks just for a few songs you like in the book is burdensome financially. However, this app is just awesome with so many easy arrangements and the bonus is that you can actually learn from listening to the recording files that accompany each sheet music. Thank you very much, developers, for your effort 🥰

Great app, however, there is a bug. Sorry if this review has a typo, because I cannot see what I am writing, so apologies in advance. This is just q of the many bugs like when you drag the play thing, is starts glitching like crazy, and when you zoom in using the feature (I forgot what is called) it doesn’t follow where the play thing is. When bo th of those are applied it starts shaking (screen) so you basically can’t see anything. Please fix this bug. Thank you for your time!

Excellent Product. For an amateur musician this does everything I want and more. Intuitive interface, easy to learn. Great help files and community dialogue for the more complicated matters. I am surprised at the complexity of score sheets available and the fact that midi playback respects, repeats with numbering, codas, hairpin dynamics, easy entry of triplets, quadruplets, trills and more. Very happy to discover that the mobile app dovetails well with the desktop version and the desktop version work ok on win 10 and even better on Linux but windows is abysmal on my laptop so the problems with its operation on windows is more down to windows than to the app itself.

Very useful app for pianists.. I paid the subscription fee. Well worth it. Still learning how to organise my scores. Some of the arrangements are a bit sus, as they seem awkward and arranged by non professional composers/musicians - from a pianists point of view they need to be more “pianistic”. Some items are hard to find. Otherwise it’s great and I’m sure it will improve.

Critical Bug Fixes Needed. Recently after updating, it seems as though the search option has been completely removed. The feature is still there and visible, but when you go to search for a song, the app will say that no scores are to be found, even though there used to be many scores. Otherwise the app is excellent and one of my favourites when it comes to playing scores. Edit: If anyone else is having this issue, just log out and in again. That fixes the issue but seems to delete some songs in the process...which is another major bug.

It’s Decent. I have used musescore for a bit now, but it does glitch. Like, I might be using playback, and all of a sudden it just keeps repeating the same line while the cursor keeps moving. It’s an okay app. But I think, if you’re just looking for an app with sheet music for you to play, it’s pretty good.

Scam, buyer beware. This is a scam. Read the reports online before you sign up for anything including a “free” 7 or 30 day trial that for some reason requires a credit card (should’ve been my first clue this was a scam). Tons of stories of people like me who were charged full yearly prices before the “free” trial period ends. You email their support and they bounce you back and forth between their .com and .org sites. Then they blame apple and itunes. The whole process is designed to drag it out so you pass your trial period and can’t get it voided with your credit card company. I contacted apple and they processed a refund and suggested I post negative feedback as the only real thing a consumer can do. Avoid this like the plague. Buyer beware!

Don't do it.. Thought I was signing up for a trial and was charged $81 on my credit card. Have been trying to get a hold of somebody to cancel this unwanted app but there seems to be no way to actually contact a human. Be careful.

Thank’s. Thank’s

No free trial as advertised. They advertise a 7 day free trial but they charge your credit card immediately. You then have to navigate their website to both cancel the auto-renewal and find a refund request form. I’m still waiting to find out if my refund request will be accepted. And… there’s no way to print scores. You have to read along line by line on your phone or tablet.

No refund for purchase error. Be careful with MuseScore… I thought I was starting the trial and by accident bought a full subscription to Pro. I contacted them immediately and after back and forths, including quoting their T&S to them they finally gave me a partial refund but wouldn’t fully refund because “it wasn’t their policy”. What kind of company charges customers for things they don’t want these days? Even Amazon will refund you for things bought in error. Gouging musicians… their target market? Strange tactics

Won’t let me open til I review?!. I’ll review later

Good, but could be better. MuseScore is a great platform, only problem is that some unpopular songs aren’t on there.

The previous version had a better interface!. 1. After changing to the latest version, the piano score page will be covered by the floating part of the music introduction and comment area, which is very inconvenient. 2. It was very easy to zoom in and out manually before, but now it is impossible to adjust the score according to the page by clicking reduce and enlarge in the upper right corner. Hope to adjust back!

Good app, but.... What I don’t like about this app is that when you begin, you can’t chose more than one instrument and you can’t chose more than one genre of music. I really wish you could! Overall good app.

Wow!. Je le recommande. Si vous ne trouvez pas votre bonheur musical à travers la vaste bibliothèque de partitions… vous êtes simplement mort de l’intérieur. Vous n’avez juste pas d’âme. Have fun!

MuseScore 4 files. It is great for sheet music, but please make it so that MuseScore 4 files can be viewed on the app. A majority of newer scores are MuseScore 4 and cannot be viewed on the app.

Scam. This app compromised my credit card and attempted to use it for an escort service. Do not give them your credit card number!!!

Best place to get online sheet music. I love this app

Printing. Extremely hard , not at all user friendly for printing music sheets. Too much options that none work for my iPad. Not impressed at all for the payment I made.

MuseScore. Love the app and have found it so useful to play music scores. Thank you

Keeps asking for me to subscribe. I have a paid subscription and it keeps asking me to subscribe and cannot determine who to follow up with 😡

Great but metronome. It’s really great to use! But I’ve noticed when I have the metronome on, when it plays the second time of a repeat the metronome disappears, but it’ll reappear when it moves onto the next part. Would appreciate this issue getting fixed!

Capital pig. Used to be good until they absolutely remove the show keyboard for free.

Merry go round of life. Really good! Canon In D

Great job. Thanks

Do not pay money for MuseScore Pro. As an amateur musician, I pay for MuseScore for the privilege of transposing existing lead sheets to the key that I want it in and then downloading it or printing it. This worked well until recently, when I was no longer able to download or print a chart in my chosen key. It proved difficult to reach MuseScore support. When I did get through after finding the email address, I received a perfunctory response that did not solve the problem. When I followed up to get the information I needed I then got no response. I like aspects of MuseScore, especially the community and the ability to share music. But if they will not support the product effectively, then I waste far too much time. I do not recommend that you pay for MuseScore Pro unless you would like to spend lots of your own time solving tech problems instead of playing music. Joy

Score not available in your country. I’m a pro member. Every single score I attempt to open I get an error stating the score is not available in my country - Canada, even songs that are 100% public domain such as classical pieces. Will be cancelling my subscription if the issue goes unresolved.

Nice. Good.

Poor update. Was a very happy user until the new update. Now, when you want to flip to the next page a simple swipe on the screen isn’t possible as it used to be. This is really important since I hate to have to stop the entire piece just trying to go to the bottom to switch that blue bar. It ruins the experience and makes playing so much harder. Please fix this and make seemless page flipping for better user experience.

Great program. Love the iPad app but also have a MacBook Pro and whatever the iPad app falls short with, the combination of adding the MacBook Pro allow me all the advantages....great program/app!

CREATE. Needs music creation functionality, big time! iPads in 2024 have a decent keyboard and a trackpad, a usable music creation app on iPad needs to be a reality. MuseScore needs to have a PROPER iOS port!!!

BAIT-AND-SWITCH. The app features a prominent button labeled “Start Free Trial” which, when tapped leads me to a page with ONLY paid plans. Sure, the quality and variety of sheet music offered is good. But Bait-and-Switch tactics are borderline illegal. So, smarten up, MuseScore. Be upfront and honest about your offers. 👎👎👎

Doesn't work. I bought the pro version but couldn't use after a few days because the ios app does not work it won't load any sheets. I tried to logout on my iPad but can't login again. Tried on my phone and iPad nothing works. only website works and it's terrible.

Subscription cancellation. Difficult to cancel subscription and too many steps. Big “Rip off” they charge you even if you cancel.

Beginner. The community is great The app is amazing The desktop is also amazing Beginner in the piano and everyday I learn something new. I’m still at it but otherwise it’s worth the money. Maybe I will discover more (good or bad) let’s find out.

Was amazing until recent update. I use this app for all my music but due to the recent update it has become harder to use because when I tap it auto scrolls I wish it were possible to switch between the new UI and the old one, also when searching for new music in the home screen it only shows the same 10-20 scores and nothing more aswell as me now needing to pay for a subscription to only see one part to play.

I press subscribe by mistake. I did unsubscribe directly it’s enough right ?

Amazing. Cannot recommend this app enough. What’s even better, is that I’m a freebie and I’ve been using this for 200 days and they gave me a giant discount of the premium. Now, i didn’t buy it, but i would if i could! Thanks 🙏

Very glitchy. Your app is very glitchy for turning pages and choosing where to start playing.

I hate this app. Already have a full year subscription .. every time I open app it want to sell me a ‘special rate’. Getting the score I want takes forever .. it’s terrible , wish I did not subscribe!! Get it together MuseScore! :(

Poorly Designed. Poorly Designed

Awful. I never had as much trouble installing or using an app…the only thing that works properly is taking your payment

Good job!. Nice version for Mac. Makes it easy for educators and students to use.

Doesn't work anymore.. I can't play pizzicato or tom-toms anymore in scores. Additionally, I can't play separate parts (practice mode) no more! Wonder if someone could fix this…

ok. cd

Needs premium for official music. Why can’t I have the official music and the music also doesn’t sound like it’s supposed to. Terrible app.

Not user friendly. I am having a tough time finding tenor sax music. This is not a user friendly app. Will not be keeping it

Auto-Renew Subscription is a Fraud. To get the free trial you have to enter your credit card number and they sent you an email the same day that the trial expires and says you have until 6 PM. They are trying to get you to forget and then charge you $49 US. If you fight with them, they will only offer you a $42 refund claiming that you already are into a month of the subscription. Watch out for these scammers.

Charged me. I accidentally purchased something and when I contacted them about it, days later they emailed back saying to tell them what happened. I told them many times what happened and finally got an email back days later again saying I got my refund. I checked my account and they didn’t even give me my full refund. I won’t stop asking till I get my full refund. Payed $75 and got back $50🤦‍♀️

Amazing apps. It’s an easy app to use to compose songs you created! I like it

Very nice but…. Oh lord is there so many disadvantages on the free version

Confusing pricing options. Musescore is a good App, however, the pricing is very confusing and too expensive for beginners.

App full of bugs. Please fix!. This app used to be so good, but recently it has been super slow and many of the songs I had previously favourited are gone. Also, when I tap on a song, it often just glitches and does not let me view it (they are not paid either). Please fix this as it is my favourite music app. The bug fixes in the most recent update did nothing!

Nice idea but . . .. Every time I open the app on my iPad I have to got to the website and convince Music score I paid and go back to my iPad and hope it worked. I had tunes in “my scores”. Not there any longer. Very frustrating to use. Sorry I paid for this.

Autumn leaves. Merci

Won’t respond to me. I never leave reviews. However, I am very frustrated with this situation. I did a free trial for musescore pro, then cancelled it before the trial was over. It shows cancelled in my subscriptions on settings, so I do have proof. However, when the trial was over, my PayPal account got charged. I immediately sent an email to discuss what had happened and to get a refund. No response. Sent multiple emails. No response. Tried to fill out the refund request form on their website. Didn’t work. Sent another email. No response. I am extremely frustrated with how this is being handled and will tell everyone who asks me to not use this company. I feel this was shady and I am still mad that I got charged even though I had very throughly gone through all the steps to cancel. It’s unfortunate, because I did think they possibly had some good sheet music to print off, but now I’m pretty annoyed.

i love this app but it’s a pain in the 🍑. it USUALLY works but every once in a while the app says “you don’t have anything in your favorites” blah blah blah when i do have stuff there. idk if it’s my wifi, or the app, but either way it’s getting tiring. another thing, is that a couple days ago there was this small rectangle in the middle of my screen, and i couldn’t even use the app because it was frozen or something,, other people had this problem too. i loveee the concept of the app, and i always find the best songs to play when i’m bored or during rehearsal breaks. i also use it for a duet and/or violin 2 when i don’t have someone to play with. it would be 5 stars if there wasn’t a bug or something wrong with the app almost every time i use it. whenever you have a problem with musescore, i recommend the app “Flat” it’s basically the same thing.

Pretty Bad. If you’re looking for someone that can make a good app almost unusable, it’s the people developing this app. There are so many basic things that aren’t working properly, if you’re wondering here are some that I encounter: -When scrolling through scores some will be invisible -Once a score is tapped, it might not load/ crashes sometimes -When zooming out/in in a score, it will vanish and still be playing, even after waiting -While in a score, tapping the center to get rid of the top bar causes the score to vanish, but still play -When exiting a score it will take you to the top of the list you just looked through, causing you to have to look through it again -Random crashing -Red bar that indicates where score is playing becomes out of sync with the score -The app is overall slow and unresponsive (which is why I prefer the website) With all of these issues it makes the app very difficult to use. This app used to be great, everything worked properly, so we know you guys in the development team can make a good app, it’s been seen before. For any people wondering about using the app over using the website, I’d recommend the website. Not only does the website actually work, but the instruments on the website sound better too.

Stole my $40. The app constantly prompts you to pay for one of their many tiers of service. I purchased the $40 summer special access when I opened the app, it took my money, and THEN it asked me to create an account and sign in. When I did I was greeted to yet more prompts to “start trial now” and purchase paid memberships (huh, I thought I just did that?), and when I went to my settings it said that I had no paid membership 🙃 so it seems the terribly executed paywalls are even too much for the devs to manage because they literally took my money before I even had an account and then failed to link my purchase to my new account. To make it worse, when I clicked the Support —> “I’d like to ask a question” button the app just freezes.. so I’m hoping I’ll be able to find an email or a number or something to reach out to help recienve a refund

Useless customer service. My main complaint is not so much the app, but the company itself. I was on a 30 day free “pro” trial, which it turns out is not even necessary for effective use of the app and sheet music (although they sure make it seem like it is). I went to cancel the day before it ended, but there are multiple steps to cancellation and it apparently didn’t end up going through. Upon being charged $49 I emailed customer support and explained what had happened. Firstly their customer service hours are in GMT time, so it took me an entire week of emailing once per day to get a response. Then, I emailed again just before a weekend and have had no response since (4 working days). The customer service representative was lazy and unhelpful, not even answering my questions and instead sending links to the policies. Extremely disappointed in the service, and due to this (on top of the lack of music available), I would never recommend using this.

Glitching in music. I found that in some of your music sheets like Billie Jean ( 14 instruments) the music glitches and gets off beat. It really becomes an inconvenience whenever I am trying to follow the music and it isn’t on time. Also, it can be fairly frustrating when the song name billboard won’t go away while you are playing to just see only the music. You end up flipping pages and missing notes because I am trying to just see the music, not the entire billboard of the name and the play button. Please make it more convenient to just see the music and all parts. Thanks, have a good day.

MuseScore’s Decline. After the “big” update, the app just doesn’t work properly anymore. When going through the browse menu the same songs keep popping up and will now freeze the entire app if you go too far. The songbook for me now never finishes loading and I can not look at any of my songs I have saved. Many song when limiting the instrument you can view get screwed up. The app always has “unexpected errors” and I think that the update focused more on cleaning up the graphics and organization of the app instead of fixing the core purposes... Sad to see, I’ve been using this app for a while and I am even a pro member. It seems as the app has taken a step backwards.

Huge scam. Just know if you accidentally forget to cancel your subscription. you will NOT receive a refund and they will only give you 35% back. Should’ve listened to the reviews I highly doubt even a actual person emails you. Someone on here from a couple of years ago said that if you revive a email from Paula then it’s probably not a real person. Guess who I received an email from? You must be working so hard Paula responding to everyone’s emails? I will definitely warn my friends and other people of this app. The developers don’t care at all about their customers. You would think a great, nice, and professional thing to do would be to let users know before doing a free trial that you don’t get your money back. Not hide it under 3 pages worth of terms of service. I even told them I couldn’t afford to pay it and that I just did it to get sheet music my piano teacher wanted and it was my fault smh…

Could be improved.. Ok, so as someone who has used musescore for a long time, I have a love hate relationship. It’s great. But still should have some fixes. First of all, the soundfonts. A lot of them are exactly the same or sound nothing like what they are supposed to sound like. Second, add options to swing 8th and 16th notes. Third, let private scores be unlimited. Fourth, let people create scores on mobile. For now I don’t have much more criticism, but musescore is a great option if you can’t get expensive programs for music. Noteflight is great, but it’s limited. The only limit musescore has is the amount of uploads. I’m broke so I can’t afford a subscription, but you can still create as many as you want and save them on your device. I rate it 4.8 :-}

Sound?. This app is amazing for a music player like me. I find all sorts of amazing music on this app, especially movie and game music fitted to my instrument. An issue I have repeatedly noticed is the sound quality when playing a score. This issue may just be a strings thing, but when I listened to a score on the webpage on my phone, the score sounded great. I could clearly pick out the violin, cello, and viola. When I played the score on the app, it sounded like a machine, just playing the notes. The webpage sound had vibrato, and actually sounded like what the song was. The app made the score sound bad, even though I knew the songs were amazing. Other than that, the app is very easy to work with.

Product is good, iPad app needs work. The product feature set and price are spot on, but this iPad app really needs some attention. I understand that often apps are developed for phone first and iPad as an afterthought (if it’s thought about at all) but most of us aren’t reading sheet music from a phone screen - this should be an iPad first development. Yet there’s all the tell tale signs of neglect: layouts don’t show as expected, and some functionality simply doesn’t work (such as sorting your saved music in order of most recently saved). There are also some easy opportunities for ease of use improvements. When I open the app, I’m several clicks away from viewing my saved library of sheet music - this should be at max a 1 click navigation and ideally 0 click (load directly into your library) as I’m sure the vast majority of users are navigating to this the vast majority of the time (and only occasionally searching for new scores). This app is very close to great, but all recent updates seem to focus on their monetization pieces. Devs: Please dedicate one sprint to iPad quality of life updates, we the users will greatly appreciate it! Note: I’m on an iPad 6th generation (2018 model)

Eh. I subscribed to the one week free trial. Hardly used it though. Went to cancel my subscription two days before it ended and I was directed to the website. I cancelled my subscription through the website and even received an email confirmation. However, today (which would mark the end of my free trial) my card was just charged for the post-free trial/“premium” version eventhough I had already cancelled it. I was confused then I thought to check my Subscriptions in Settings. Lo & behold, I was “still” subscribed. Cancelled that immediately. Second email came in confirming I did, exactly the same as the first. Why aren’t the website version and app version synced? I’m just glad I didn’t have enough funds in the first place for the charge to go through, ultimately declining the payment. Otherwise, I would have been beating down people’s doors.

Privacy nightmare. If you installed the app before app store had clear privacy labels, beware: this app uses AppsFlyer, which claims to “ give you [businesses/developers] full visibility into your customer journeys across every channel and device, while preserving customer privacy” while AppsFlyer’s website makes it clear that privacy is a mere afterthought. The privacy policy by this analytics/ad services also states that it will share data with “Third-party marketing and advertising networks to help us market our products on our own website and on third party websites (e.g. remarketing ads across the Internet by Google)”, including “Cross Border Data Transfers”. Read AppFlyer’s privacy policy. The tone of general complacency is disgusting. And this app will happily supply AppFlyer with your personal information.

Missing MuseScore now that I’m using iOS only. I truly loved notating in MuseScore, however, my MacBook Air finally aged itself out after 13 years and I’ve moved exclusively to the latest iPad Pro with Magic keyboard. It works so beautifully for me and just like a laptop for everything I need to do—except MuseScore notation, for which I pay the $79 subscription. What a tremendous disappointment. I’ve had to subscribe to Sibelius, which means more money, a new learning curve and I don’t frankly like it as much as I did MuseScore. I’m a professor and arranger and I need a notation program to work quick teaching examples and full scores. MuseScore did all that for me so wonderfully. I’m so disappointed and maybe even a little angry at the time I spent building MuseScore skills. Is there ever going to be a MuseScore notation app for iOS? If not, I will sadly be forced to cancel. I’m not buying another laptop when the iPad pro works so seamlessly for everything else I do. :-(

Recent updates make it hard to use. I’ve been using MuseScore for a few years now, and besides features being withheld if you don’t pay for a subscription, it’s surprisingly good. However, with the most recent update (?) I’ve experienced more glitches and crashes when trying to use it. The most frustrating thing is turning the pages. All you had to do in the past was swipe, but now you have to use the small blue bar at the bottom of the screen. This is only slightly annoying when I’m using my iPad to read sheet music, but with my phone screen, which is much smaller, I’m having a more difficult time playing along and turning pages. It’s just very frustrating. Please fix if possible!

It’s eh, but has potential. The mobile version suffers from not having a sythesia type of deal the browser one has. Also I can’t compose anything on mobile say when I’m going somewhere. And the song library is laughable because It’s not full enough in my opinion. And when you download it and you log in, they ask you to say what instrument do you play, where there are two categories for “Keyboard” and “Piano” seperately and when you pick the genre of music, it still dumps in those overused songs that every beginner is learning when I clearly state that I’m a professional to the app. So, why do I give it 3 stars and not 1 or 2? Because it has some potential and I’m waiting for the improvements if theres any.

Frustration. Why can’t the app freaking work?! I can’t go from page to page anymore; the app randomly glitches out from time to time; for some scores, I need to visit the website instead of the app that I already have and paid for; and it overall seems way too low budget and glitchy for one of the top music apps. The scores are pretty good, it’s just the app interference is way too frustrating at times to even use. Also, why is it also asking me to subscribe again for trash like MuseScore Learn every time I log in. I’m fine with the subscription I subscribed for, I don’t need all those overrated other courses. Also, why on earth do I need to pay for an official score such as Fur Elise or the Entertainer when I could just look up a version someone else posted that’s the exact same? I enjoy using the app but all this stuff is just too frustrating.

Great app with constant problems.... I usually don’t write reviews for apps; however, I feel that it is necessary to let the developers know about some bugs. As a musician, I absolutely loves this app. It allows me to get an endless amount of music for free, and I don’t have to carry around a bunch of music, or go searching through an endless pile of music. However, this app is constantly giving me issues, and trying to fix them wastes valuable time that I could have used practicing my trumpet. The most current issue I’m dealing with is how the app responds to exiting a score. Usually, the app will smoothly back out of the score I’m reading, but now it loads only half the screen and leaves a white nos around the left side of my screen. So far, the only work around that I have found is to close out the app, which is just inconvenient and annoying for me.

Perfect, but see below. The reasons I almost gave 4 stars are performance and premium. Let’s begin with performance. It often crashes, freezes, or severely lags. Another notable has been that songs continue to play despite having the user gone back to the search page. However, I am using MuseScore on an iPad mini 2, so I can’t fully blame these issues on the app itself since I don’t know if it’s just my outdated tech. Premium is another reason. The fact that I need premium for certain features such as mixer or convenient transposition is annoying, but musescore is completely free other than that and has no ads, so I gave it 5 stars out of appreciation to that.

Ok but library is sometimes down. I love the depth of the library. Oftentimes, however, I find myself looking up a very popular score (in this example, Widor’s Toccata for Organ). All of a sudden, the entirety of the search results was “temporarily unavailable”; I had to click through each one to discover it wasn’t an isolated occasion. I know this is but a limited inconvenience, which is why my rating is still high. Playback options are incredible for self teaching. There’s a lot to love. But this is a personal grievance of mine. I will keep the subscription barring anything else better, however. This may be the best one in my experience.

Horrible dishonest company! Do not use!. Horrible dishonest company. Do not do the free trial! I added the trial to see if the service had what I wanted, quickly realized it didn’t… canceled the free trail within 2 days. Then 7 days later, I was charged $70 for an annual service with no authorization. By the time I fought the charge with PayPal ….. they gave the run around…. I called muse score to complain and was given the run around for a week, then told I was past the 14 days within which they could refund. I had never authorized the $70 charge so you can imagine my disgust. It seemed like PayPal was in on the scheme with how long they took. Now working with the police and banks to get justice. Also note… they can’t be reported to BBB because they are international. Buyer BEWARE! I am an everyday honest citizen who was robbed by this company. I have proof in many forms.

songs are good, but very hard to play along. I play the violin and use this app to look for some new music. There are a lot of song options that I like and they all sound beautiful. However, there are a lot of problems with the music and functions that come along with it. For example, I think it would be MUCH better if I could see the next line while playing so that way I won’t fall behind because I didn’t know what the next note of the next line was. Also, there were times where I dragged progress line to beginning so I could start over, but whenever I unpause it, it just goes straight back to the end. It only works if I pressed the rewind button. Overall, I really enjoyed this app. If there were a few tweaks that were made, I would’ve given it 5 stars instead of 2.

Bug infested. The latest update really messed up this app. For one, you cannot view your uploaded scores via the app. It directs you to a link to the website where you would upload. That’s fine but there is no way to even view your own scores! The only way is to go to notifications and find your score by chance or search the database. When finding your scores through notifications, the app will occasionally come up with an error and cannot display your score. You can tell before you even get there because the rating will show as unrated. This app supports a huge database of scores but you can’t easily access your own work. It is frustrating and really does a disservice to creators. If an app doesn’t make my experience easier, why do I need it?

Love this app, needs more updates. I’ve been using this app for over 6 years now. I play the Clarinet as well as many other instruments. I use it to help me practice and learn new songs. I’ve never really had a problem with this app. I think it needs to get updated a bit more though. The problem i’m having right now is that it seems like the phone app can not load sheet music uploaded or updated with the new musescore 4. This really limits the app and I usually have to open musescore through safari or google. I do really love this app but it is kinda a nuisance that I have to open the website on my phone instead of just using the app. Hopefully it gets fixed soon!

Musescore. Musescore is amazing and I enjoy the large selection of songs available to many instruments. One thing that would definitely make this app better was if you could adjust the volume in separate clefs. Like, if you could turn down the bass clef so that you could hear the treble better and vice versa. Make the clef volume adjustable, if you understand what I’m saying. Also, it would be really helpful if you would be able to add a note drawing thing. As in, if you needed to annotate that this or that note was whatever, or played in 8va. Or if the author of the score wrote it wrong, you could write in the correct note. These changes would not be made public, but just for yourself. Other than that, Musescore is a great app that I highly recommend.

Worth Every Penny x20!. I grew up with free piano lessons from my grandmother & the combination of zero talent, short sausage fingers, increasingly bad vision & irregular piano access btw age 18-25+ made me lose touch w/the joys & rewards of playing (at least as a hobby!) Since learning the “old school,” pre-online/app way (paper sheet music & mostly classical), Musescore is the best app for resuming piano via keyboards as an adult. I can’t imagine life w/o music & Musescore has AMAZING sheet music selection & value. I’m using other apps, too, but this one’s insanely affordable, infinitely enjoyable & the best ROI by far. Other apps have niches & selections I use case-by-case, but Musescore is my day-to-day go-to! Trying to gift it to my dad for xmas

Please adjust.. This app used to be amazing with free easy access sheet music. Not only has the update caused the app to be weird it also has caused the app to not even show any music. It always tells me that there is a network problem and I need to logout. When this first started I would just log back in and be able to access my scores, but now I’ll login back in and it will tell me to logout again. If I try to X out of the network notice then it will say I have no internet and can’t view any scores. If there is anyway to fix the problem I’d love to continue to use this app but until then it is completely useless to have.

Just Because It’s Now Free Doesn’t Mean You Have To Go OUT OF YOUR WAY To Make It Worse. While I’m grateful that the app is now free, everything about the recent big update is incredibly flawed, much more so than the older one. The sounds have significantly decreased in quality (I actually really enjoyed the sound of the French horn but now it seems to always hit some random out of tune note before every single pitch, it drives me nuts), selecting certain things are hard (and my phone is relatively sensitive so this is not a phone issue), and the app crashes way quicker than before. It used to only crash for me when a song with a lot of parts was played, and now it seems to crash randomly. The only two improvements I’ve seen so far is 1. The saxes seem way less out of tune than before and 2. The dashboard is easier to handle now. Really disappointed, and I might just use your PC version until this is fixed.

Really buggy and lots of weird limitations. I like the app kind of because it helps me learn songs, but at the same time, if there is a song completely out of my range I can’t transpose it an octave up. Seriously what is the reason of letting you transpose to 12 if it won’t even go up an octave. I am not going to manually fix it myself because that is goofy when you already have the option. Also the buttons barely work and I keep having to close out of the app. And on top of all of this, I am now paying for a subscription I don’t even want, because the options said it was a 7 day free trial and I canceled it the day of the free trial, but I already paid in full for some reason so good job on taking the free out of free trial!

This is the best you can get, But.... MuseScore has helped me improve my skills in a way I would never imagine! It's a very fun app to use when I want to learn a song or just play around! I've been with MuseScore longer than I can remember without the pro version and I still enjoy it today! But (respectfully) I don't like monthly payments because the money eventually adds up to more than I'd like it to be... So if you can make a ONE TIME PAYMENT option, that would be the best! But I still highly recommend this app with or without pro to everyone els out there trying to find a music sheet app! Thanks for reading this!

Underlying Issues. I love Musescore a lot, I use it very often. I like the app, but sometimes it's worse than using the actual website due to some underlying issues. One issue is the soundfonts on the app. If the user uploaded a custom soundfont, they are replaced with a random soundfont on the app. On the website, custom soundfonts are supported, and the default soundfonts sound so much better. For an example, search "Halls of Science 4" from Portal 2 on the app and the website and you'll see what I mean. (I didn't make that score but it's a good example) Second, there's no way to make/upload scores on the app. This isn't such a big deal, but it would be nice to have a sister app/ in-app program or at least be able to upload a .midi to the app. Overall, it's good for practicing, but if you want it to sound good too, then the website would be a better option.

It is so easy to find great sheet music!. This app has so many good scores and even has extremely obscure music so I can play nearly all the music I want! It is all free which is so generous there is a premium which is very cheap and I assume is very good based on the quality of the app! I can’t recommend this app enough it’s so good! Tons of songs even ones I would never have thought anyone would make sheet music for are on here. You can use any song for free, it is so nice. The premium option doesn’t cost very much and gives you a bunch of new options and tools. If you don’t want to pay it is still a very useful app that gives you very good and free sheet music! Personal I really love the app.

Pay to Play..?. I remember the good ol’ days where I could download this very app to see and save amazing, user-created sheet music for almost any song I liked. The community seemed to be aplenty and I really enjoyed playing everything there was to offer. I slowly stopped playing as much due to family constraints, having a child, etc. Fast-forward about 2 years - I redownload the app and expect much of the same, to be able to see and save amazing user content. Instead I’m greeted with a screen asking about the instrument I play, as well as the music I enjoy. Following that, I’m asked to commit to a monthly / yearly payment plan to JUST GET INTO THE APP, which is completely absurd to me. Maybe I’m just out of the loop, but I never realized that this app became Pay to Play. Maybe there is a better alternative out there. I’ll definitely be on the lookout to see. But until they stop this Pay to Play nonsense, I will not be using this app.

I Love this app so much!❤️. I usually don’t do reviews for apps but this one deserves one. I love that You can listen to the music you pick and the music sheets are wonderfully done. I could find almost any music in this app. It’s hard to find good music sheets on google but this app did the job. I noticed they also updated it and are now offering lessons in the app! I got the pro thing and I get to have more access to other features and I love it! If there is a music I like but it’s played together with another instrument I can just cancel it out with the pro features. Thank you for this app and I looking forward to updates!

I love this app, but it’s hard to use sometimes. I absolutely love this app so much, it helps me get music i want for a monthly subscription i can get TONS of sheet music but sometimes the apple flat out doesn’t work. After downloading a lot of songs it might start just saying “error couldn’t load song” and even if u try to reset the app it won’t fix it. It will somehow fix itself if you leave the app alone for like a day but sometimes i don’t want to wait. aside from that, the app has great musical selection (especially for piano) and i would highly recommend if you’re willing to pay the subscription.

Navigation has annoying bugs. 1) Trying to search for a specific piece after selecting a hub never loads any results. I always have to search from main page and then filter by instrument 2) Selecting ‘all hubs’ and then selecting a hub makes the search bar disappear. This basically makes browse tab get stuck. I cannot go back to list of hubs, nor can I search for anything because search bar is no longer visible. 3) Filters cannot be used after going to a specific hub page. 4) Selecting a hub locks me out from “all hubs” page. The app is a massive headache to navigate through even though the website is drowning in ads saying “the app is easier to use”. Spoiler alert: it’s not *Response to the dev query: I’m on iPad 6th gen. Current app version is 2.9.05

Great music, but the ads. I’ve used Musescore for a long time, and I absolutely love all the free sheet music you can play. It all sounds really good, and is usually pretty accurate. The only thing I’ve recently been having a problem with is the ads. For some reason whenever I get an ad (no matter what ad it is) it will not let me exit it out, rendering the app basically useless since I’m unable to view any sheet music without an ad popping up. I don’t mind the ads at all, but it get frustrating when you can’t see any of the sheet music and the same ad pops up each time. I’m not sure if it’s because I have an older device (IPad 2 mini) however it does run on the latest update. Hopefully this can be fixed!

One of the best. Have you ever tried to become a musician? Do you love music or at least like it? So, that means that you have probably searched the app/play store before looking for music apps. This is one of the best. It monopolizes the other companies that try to give you like the cheapest app out their that just gives you a quiz on like where is a concert g? This app is awesome especially for musicians who need and need and need more music under their belt. You can look up anything and it’ll show up. This version of MuseScore is a “pocket edition” that doesn’t have everything on it. For instance, it doesn’t have the program download to make your own music(I want it soo bad on my phone!). But I can and have downloaded it on to my computer. Another problem is that the sound is electronic so you can’t even play swing or any jazz unless the artist writes the syncopation out with slurs(it takes a while) So, MuseScore is totally awesome and is great for any level of musicians out there now. But also please try the internet MuseScore that you can make music from! Enjoy!!

I like this app but it could do better. I am a teen in middle school learning cello. This app helps me play my cello during the summer or when I have no music to play. The only problem is that the cello is uncommon, so there is a smaller selection or music to play from. I feel like there need to be a bigger selection of music for not just the cello, but for all of the uncommon instruments. I also find a problem with when the music had a coda. Instead of going to the coda when it gets to the sign, it plays through it, all the way to the end of the coda. I hope this helps other cello players, and helps the app become better.

One of My favorite music App. Muse Score is an app I come back to time and time again not just for finding music but also for writing music. I have found the interface for composition purpose to be well made and simple to work with. I play a multitude of instruments and being able to write music for one and then modifying it for another has been made realitivily simple on all fronts. I also like the aspect of being able to find music that people have put and added to share because some times finding a piece can sometime take a lot of time and then the cost for that single piece to me isn’t worth it. The draw back I find is that I can’t always find the pieces I want.

Percussion sound fonts are broken. I’ve been using musescore on my MacBook since 2014 I think, and it’s an amazing open source solution to music notation. The iPhone app however, not so much. I can’t find a way to start a new score which isn’t a huge problem for me because the main reason I bought this app is so I could play them back to my professors without just opening the mobile website. This works great for most scores I have but all of them with percussion tracks (specifically stand tunes that I am trying to get accepted into our rotation at my college) play as if they’re a synth keyboard of some kind, and of course the sounds that it make are horribly out of key. I’m unsure if there’s a way to change the sound font in the app like you can on the desktop and Mac applications but it’s a big problem I hope is updated.

Music Newbie. As someone who started Piano lessons only 4 months before discovering this app I am beyond impressed. I have found tons of songs that I love in the real world and I have used this app to learn them on piano. There are nitpicks for sure, but at the end of the day for someone who’s only been reading sheet music for less than half a year this app does an amazing job with the combination of practice mode, being able to see which keys should be played and so much more! I don’t think I’ve written an app review in almost 3 years, but I would 10/10 recommend this app to a friend especially one who is new to music! (I primarily use the iPad app and website!).

Ppl put scripts in the descriptions. Whenever I search for something, there are ALWAYS a few certain songs that are at the top of the results. They don’t even apply to what I’m looking for. The reason is that people copy and paste entire movie scripts in the description, which means that whatever key words you’re searching for, they are most likely going to be in those movie script descriptions as well, making them the first results. You devs probably know this and are fixing a bunch of things already (hopefully), but can you please add a word count limit for descriptions, or at least a report irrelevant content button to songs? Also I don’t even have access to song descriptions on mobile anyway, but I read a few comments of songs so that’s how I know. I haven’t seen desktop version yet, and I’m 🤍ing a bunch of songs before getting pro version so I can download them right away, and I’m very thankful for you guys for actually responding to negative comments and that you are aware of many problems with this app and are trying to fix them. Others devs usually aren’t that involved. So I’ll be waiting patiently for you ppl to smooth out this app, so take your time and fix as much as you can I guess.

In satisfied and no refund. I signed up for the free trial, I was certain I removed my credit card information. But unfortunately I did not. I used muse score one time and quite frankly it’s not the platform for me. Upon request for a refund I was only offered a discount or an extension of the service. I explained I wouldn’t be using this product at all and it wasn’t fit for me. However no response after there initial offer is rather bullish. So instead of being concerned for the consumer they would rather take my money. So I’m giving a one star for customer service and customer satisfaction. I didn’t like the product, I made a simple mistake clearly, yet $50 is more important to them, then good customer relations. Maybe I would have signed I for a monthly subscription and given it another chance, however if my needs are not met. That won’t be happening.

Something Happened. I probably sound like a broken record compared with most users that wrote on this, but jeez, this app was AMAZING before the update. I’d use this to practice a bunch of new songs and I’d take it with me for a few performances. I actually couldn’t detect half of the issues people are complaining about simply because the app literally won’t let me do anything. Every 10 seconds, the app will throw me back to my last page, and it’s extremely difficult considering I’m trying to read music and it takes me right back to the search bar. Please fix this issue or revert back to the original, this app WAS amazing.

Great service but the bugs are infuriating!. I’m not one to write reviews, but I just had to vent my frustration with this app. There are two main bugs that completely derail the process of following along with the sheet music. First, the line that tracks the notes can easily glitch and set itself off rhythm. It’s then useless trying to visually read the music while it’s playing. In fact, it can become harder because the tracker can throw you off. Secondly, if you tap your screen the wrong way, it pops you back up to the top of the page. Why would I ever need that happen? I’m trying to scroll along with the music while I sing or play, and it instead throws me back to the top. In what situation would I EVER want that feature? How has that ever helped anyone? I then lose my place and have to viciously try to scroll back down and find where I was. This is almost always impossible when part of a larger group that is singing along with you. Now I’m stuck without my music and have to pretend I haven’t completely lost my place. It’s a good service. It provides my club with a lot of really well transposed music. But every time I use the app I want to throw my phone across the room.

This app is so broken. Overall this is an okay app. I enjoy being able to find music then learn the notes and rhymes of the piece. But what is really frustrating is how if a score has lots of parts whenever a new measure hits and you are viewing the top of the score it then instantly goes to the bottom of the score. Also with one of the newest updates I am unable to favorite music scores and the scores that I had favorited before the update disappeared. The apps search feature is also very broken in the since that if I’m searching for a specific instrument with 3 parts it’ll still show pieces with a different number of parts and sometimes additional instruments with in the piece. The search feature isn’t as frustrating as the first two issues. If the app didn’t have some of these issues I would enjoy my time with this app much more.

This app is almost perfect. I love the fact that almost every song imaginable is here. So many times I thought they wouldn’t have a song I wanted to play, but not only would they have it, they’d have it for a ton of instruments and at several difficulties. Upon that, u are able to listen to the music like it’s an mp3 file and a bar follows along with the notes. Both of these make playing and learning so easy. The only problems are that u can not print directly from the app, and u can not download the file without a subscription. However, at the time this is written you are able to screenshot and print from photos which I hope they keep.

Plz fix the issues as soon as possible. OMG!! This app used to be super excellent but guys... what happened ?? I’ve been using this app for over a year. The latest update causes the app crash all the time. And my iphone gets overheat and it always burns my hand whenever i’m using the app!!! Weird, right?! And there are also problems in turning pages or in choosing bars when using the score. I’m totally obssessed with this app, and i got super excited when my acount turned into pro version automatically because i was an old user!!! So thank you because of that. I’m sooooo greatful. But plzzzzzzz fix these issues cause they are serious problems!!

Amazing app - Only one big suggestion. As a pianist, it is so nice to be able to carry around all of my “sheet music” on my iPad. I can learn faster with the play back tools, the play along feature is arguably miles better than a metronome - and I am ecstatic that I can transpose on the app. The ONLY thing that would make it better would be the ability to make notes on the music while I have it pulled up for fingering, or other suggestions to help. MuseScore, please add the ability to write notes directly on the music and I will continue to push this app and all of its upgraded settings on all of my musician friends!
