Sampling issue. I’m on an iPhone 6. Every sample I record sounds like it went through a children’s Robot effect. I’ve tried everything I know to do, and cannot get a clean sample with this app. This is particularly frustrating, because I really just want to use this app as a tracker/sample sequencer. The fact it does that is amazing, but I’m working with nothing but robot sounds, and it is very frustrating. Please update.

Please respond!!. I just want to say that I am super grateful to even be able to use this all these years! It is the only DAW that I will use and I’ve used it for all my music to date! I just wish the windows version works better, I’ve been trying to teach my brother how to make music with caustic on windows but once a certain amount of patterns are placed on the sequencer (max like 3) the screen goes black or all the text and pattern designs go away and bug out and it then becomes unusable, if there is a fix for this please help and respond to me my friend!

Doesnt work on iphone?. I paid 10 bucks open it up and I cant actually manipulate anything at all. I can scroll up and down but everything is centered to the left half of the screen in landscape and i cant interact with anything except the bar that slides everything vertically.

Outstanding but few problems. Amazing sounds and beat machine kits however I haven’t been able to open up any projects since Caustic can’t seem to rotate to landscape mode even without orientation lock enabled! Not sure if this is a problem other users have experienced or just my phone but would definitely like to be able to use to keep using this app again! I’d also love to see a function where caustic can export songs to my phones files without needing to open iTunes on my desktop.

I love this app but.... It won't connect to my Bluetooth headphones. Everything else on my iPhone 7+ will, but not Caustic. I won't be able to mix well without that - I hate to say this, but I either need it fixed or I need a refund. :( So excited to download this app, now very disappointed😭

Make as audio unit. Could caustic please be made as an audio unit extension? and also have a folder made for caustic in the files app so you can access your songs samples instruments and etc?

Update. It need to be updated to work on iOS 16

One of the best music creator apps!. Been making music since 1983 and I have to say, for a digital WS, this is quite impressive. I have tried a lot of similar apps, but I keep coming back to this one. The only problem I have experienced is on my iPad, when I try to connect via Bluetooth, it will not connect and only plays sound from the speakers. No other issues. Great app! Update 2023 Version doesn’t seem to be compatible with the new iOS 16 update. I literally lost years of music. The app doesn’t seem to be working since the update. Are the developers going to update Caustic? It would be worth it.

This app is not working anymore. Yo why is caustic not working anymore???

wish i could use my BT headphones :(. cant use bluetooth with this app

Developer Is Lazy. If you build a monster then you feed it. File transfer difficulty is not all on apple

Files. I really like it but I don’t know how to import my files in it 😐

Great app. This app is super fun and I believe super underrated. However, I believe adding bluetooth support would improve it ten fold.

Why?. I’m unable to have sound through Bluetooth headphones. No option for output in settings.

Doesn’t work anymore. The layout is wrong even though I’m holding my phone in landscape mode

Thank you for this masterpiece. One wish that i have is that i hope this developer could update this app to at least support for some time 🥲🥲 perfect app for mobile music creations!!!!

Issues with caustic. This is a very versatile and creatively expressive app. The only issue that I have is that my Bluetooth headphones keep disconnecting every time i try using the app. It is really frustrating as I’m usually in public and can’t listen to what I’m playing on my speaker. If this issue is fixed, this would be an amazing product.

Updates plsssa. This app is truly capable if sooo much! But needs updates...... More synths, the ability to add more than just two effects, maybe a multiband compressor, etc....

Great. Amazing app. Just wish it could transpose your notes if you change scales. For example if u change from c major to f major the c will change to f instead of staying a c. More than worth the money as is tho!

Little things.. It literally takes 3 minutes to make a smaller or bigger trying to change the length of it... so much hassle for little things like the grid and going back and having to put another note to replace and back out of the grid it’s just terrible and very confusing with not a lot of help

Incredibly intuitive, powerful, and fun to use. I have messed around with production since 2011, trying different DAWs to find one that I truly liked. I downloaded Caustic in October and have spent 1000+ hours using the app. I’m still finding out new ways to use its tools and very rarely feel like I’m held back by the limitations on the machine. There are some elements that are inconvenient when using an iphone (sound doesn’t play on Bluetooth headphones) but the portability and ability to quickly jump into production more than makes up for it. Would recommend this to anybody, whether as a supplement for desktop DAWs or as a primary workstation for amateur production.

Amazing Mobile Daw. Best mobile daw ever created! Thanks Rej I have a very important question tho.. I’ve recently installed it in an iPhone.. How and where do you find the Caustic-data folder ??

Best mix of features. This is the most comfortable and well thought out DAW that I have used on a mobile device. Just yesterday I was wishing for different time signatures, and guess what? This update has them! Among plenty of other good things. Thanks for all the good work.

Ghost notes?. Getting keyboard triggers for keys never pressed. Unable to record due to this (felt like I was playing 2 player and it was always the other guys turn)

Exporting doesn’t work. Clicking on any of the prompts including SoundCloud will not open those apps. Also, the exported files are nowhere to be found

NEEDS AN UPDATE!. I can’t even use it anymore because the screen is locked in some weird position. The developer completely abandoned this app. It was amazing for years until the latest apple update. C’mon man, DO SOMETHING!

So so close to perfection. This app is a gem. It has let me make amazing songs on the go. 1. Exporting stems doesn't seem to work. 2. It's impossible to line up the dots that control the volume of a track at a certain time. They will always be a bit off from each other. 3. The modular synth exports with TERRIBLE crackling that isn’t in the synth before exporting sometimes. It seems like the mixer modules can glitch like this sometimes. I can’t figure out how to prevent the glitched exports! I hope these issues get addressed!

Needs update but.... I wish I had discovered this sooner. It doesn’t seem to do it’s FTP thing correctly. And also doesn’t export stems correctly. I think both these issues are tied to the new IOS folder schematic. However, it is the only app that I get a song out of every time I use it. It’s really easy to compose beats on. The sounds it makes are awesome. Sadly I’ve only been able to export stereo and not stems, nor have I been able to use the FTP server to continue tracks in another DAW so it’s a bit crippled in that regard. The stuff I export doesn’t show up in the EXPORT folder either. I don’t think this is quite compatible with recent IOS. If it were updated it would still be a top app as far as I’m concerned. Geza X

Update for goodness sake hohoho Merry Caustic. 2021 update Please Still this app shows how little improvement has really happened with iOS music tools over the last 10 years. The developer of this app was so far ahead that only now he’s being passed. Wish list: Refresh the interface look/design, work as Audio Unit or AU’s within Caustic, better or access to Pro Mix/Mastering tools. Pass by every music app again for another decade.

Sad to report…. The app has since been rendered useless on my iPhone ever since the iOS 16 update. I have yet to update the app on my iPad and I hope it isn’t broken there as well. Having paid for the app a couple of years ago and up until now being pleased and even impressed by the quality and user friendliness of such a robust and feature rich DAW, I’m sad to see it in a state of disrepair. However, I’m keeping faith in the developers and hoping that they will fix the problems and restore mine and all of the loyal Caustic fans that rely on their software to flesh out their ideas and their creative outflows that would otherwise go unfulfilled. We need you. Don’t let us down. Thank you for everything you do.

Perfect if it appeared in files app. If the dev could make caustic visible in the files app users like me would pay 30 bucks a pop without blinking.

Your other app editor for Volca needs an update.... ...and now seems to be missing from the App Store. It was awesome. Please update it.

Caustic has glitches in newer operating systems.. It worked before, but when i updated my device, it started to only be like half of my screen.

Does not work on new iPhone. Paid 9.99 for an app that will not run properly in the new iPhone. Can’t even hit the transport controls.

No longer works on iPhone. Caustic used to be a fun synth app with a great sequencer. No longer seems to work with the iPhone. I guess the party’s over.

Garbage and I paid for it!. This app worked fine on my iPhone however after an update for the phone the app only offers a single synth and only fills up half the screen. Junk! I want money back, what a rip off!!!

Lots of fun! I like it more than Gadget. Quick tip: to get patterns longer than a bar- 2, 4, or 8, simply navigate to the machine of choice and scroll down. Each machine has its own piano roll beneath it, that is where you set the pattern length. Press grid, then 4x, 8x, etc. Recording live is great, rock solid quantization. SOUNDS great. There are deep sound design possibilities but the fx are so good you could get by just with presets and fx. Once you understand how things are organized, which didn't take long, it's very easy to create a lot of music very quickly. Don't bother arranging at the start, just create patterns till your heart is content and then arrange later. Not much to complain about aside from very small interface quirks that aren't that big of a deal. I suppose more instrument tracks would be nice. But with the live automation recording and 16 tracks, you won't lack for cool sounds. Also, don't miss the PCM synths ability to import audio from elsewhere. You can edit and apply fx to imported audio endlessly. Great app, my only regret is I didn't buy it sooner!

Headphone output doesn’t. On iOS 17 the headphone output is simply none functional. This is clearly over Bluetooth.

Great app, but needs update!. Had this app for years on multiple devices and it’s always been amazing and I’ve written so many songs here, but since my last update a few months ago it hasn’t worked at all! Willing to pay for update

needs update. needs update

Sequencer needs work. Overall it has a lot of great features, probably the closes you'll get to Reason 4, sadly the sequencer section is not that good, I find it very cumbersome to get things done, I spent at least an hour trying to figure out how to make a pattern that was more than 1 bar long so I wouldn't have to record a chord progression a section at a time, apparently you can, so it really makes it a slow drawn out process, and for the most part, it just not that intuitive. I wish I could give it a higher rating but imo, the sequencer is more suited for step sequencing versus real time.

Bluetooth headphones don’t work iOS. Great app but the fact that Bluetooth headphones won’t work on iPhone with the app is killing me. I’ll rate 5 stars when they fix this.

DOES still work with iOS15 and AudioShare!. I hope they do update sometime (we would be happy to pay!) but it is still working fine on my older device with iOS 15, except most of the export options have broken! I was still able to use the AudioShare option however after purchasing that app and from there can save to iCloud, etc. like other modern apps. Might still be possible to sync files with iTunes as well, have not tried. Thanks for all these years with this groovy app!

I can’t view my caustic files. This app is pretty good but I can’t get access .caustic files, I want to save all my project files and collab with other caustic users but I can’t because if this

Bluetooth headphone support!!!. Needs Bluetooth headphone support! Especially now that newer phones lost the audio jack

Great!. Such a great workstation and workflow with so many great machines. Hope the developer keeps it updated. Thanks!

CANNOT EXPORT!!!. I used to love this app until I bought the iOS version. $9.99 and I can't EXPORT the file unless I buy another $3.99 app? The export to share does nothing, you can't even save a local file with this app. What a joke. Fix this. 1 star because I can't give 0.

How can I import sound. Caustic 3 is a great daw but I can’t import sound that I have please update

Exporting is broken. A bit of warning to you all... The developer wants you to fork over an additional cost for a separate app to export your songs. If this allowed me to export to Dropbox or Google drive from the get-go, a higher rating would be warranted.

Cannot load presets. I cannot load anything past caustic, I cannot load any new presets or sounds

Excellence +. I cannot really express just how good this is. Extraordinarily easy to get going and produce quality results. Controls are responsive and intuitive and the video tutorials must be the best of any app in the store. Simple, precise and without any jargon. A real bargain at this price.

amazing and efficient. best value package all in one studio like the old Reason 3.0 on desktop. Surprisingly, the little modular synth in this sounds better than the big modulars by other developers that make you pay for each component. All the machines that make up this studio sound great and consume little cpu. The only criticisms i have are - midi file import (fixed next patch) - audiobus (fixed next patch) - screen size doesnt fit right, it crops the top and bottom in landscape mode, this needs fixing. I would love to see the following and would be willing to pay extra for the options... - would like more flexible fx routing options (fx chains, channel splits, etc) - would like a better compressor or a multiband compressor, this would make glueing multiple parts together to create a layered super synth a possibility. - ability to layer samples in both the PCM and the Beatbox, with the option to roundrobin/random or layer/blend. Fun purchase, highly reccomended.

Wow. Amazingly powerful DAW, easy to get started and sounds great.

Please refund me. Please refund me, I have only just bought it and it’s not doing what it’s showed to be doing. Bluetooth should work.

FANTASTEEEEQ. GREAT APP GREAT SOUNDS BETTER THAN KORG GADGET.

Incredibly capable yet underappreciated app. This software is amazing. It is sort of like Korg's gadget except it uses hardly any resources. The only thing missing is one more instrument which would do midi out so I could control external equipment or other apps with caustic.

Great App. This app is indeed great. I had issues with it crashing on startup and couldn't use it. However, turning on flight mode fixed the issue. This app is awesome.

Caustic is missing something!. Don't get me wrong this is a great app! If I could use the presets! They're not coming up in whatever folder they may need to be in. Please fix guys

Best of show. Fantastic app that seems to get overlooked for the big names. Drums, bassline, very useful synths, and best of all an intuitive and easy to use sequencing interface for getting ideas down. Worth every penny!

Terrible app for $15. WHATS THE POINT OF HAVING FOLDERS IN THIS APP IF THEY ARE ALL EMPTY, there are no preset folders or anything, there are much better apps for a much better price!, do not get this app, I suggest getting Fl studio mobile or korgs gadget, they are both great and are actually useful, if I could get a refund I would but because I can't I am writing this so no one else waste money on this app, thank you for reading, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS APP!!!

Awesome Sound, Great Value. This app gives a lot of similar apps a run for their money, money being the operative word, as all the the instruments and effects come WITH THE APP at no extra cost. Nice to see a developer put their cards on the tabletop..;)) Simple and intuitive interface with great sounding rack modules.

Wow. Very nice app. Although it must be much better on an iPad, it really does feel very considered. I have used all the apps, I really loved nanostudio at first but I could never get into its interface, especially the sequencer. I can't wait for updates and stuff. Grade A!

Don't waste your time or money!. The app has not been updated for a long time, midi control and implementation is inaccurate and choppy to the point of unusable, the best thing it does is play their demos! Wish I could have my money back!

Unbelievable value. Easy to learn and use, great sound, many helpful Youtube videos, and a free OS X version. Stunning value for low cost and great fun!

Holy crap this is the motherlode. I was a Gadget fanboy before really giving this app and it's workflow a chance. It's worth spending a bit of time to figure out to take advantage of the super clean and highly convenient UI an workflow. So damn powerful. I love the easy split between recording live and piano rolled patterns and song based data (automation and notes independent of patterns). The interface is simple and a joy to use once you put in the time. Certain things that appear missing, like undo, are there (in edit mode). One just has to get used to the mode based editor interface. Once thing "missing" is being able to record audio lyrics and stuff but that can be done in other software, and Gadget doesn't bother with this much either. The instruments are more advanced and varied than many of Gadget's offerings too. The strings simulator KSSynth and the drawbar organ, and the padsynth (additive synthesis made simple) are my favourites. I love the fact you can simply scroll through the instruments and piano rolls on the rack. Fantastic UI!

Edited for BLUETOOTH. I love Caustic... I have been using it for years, I haven’t found another DAW app like this ever... I had to edit this review because it really really sucks that when I got a new iPad, and connected my AirPods, Caustics audio still plays through the external speakers. PLEASE REJ PLEASE I WILL PAY YOU FOR THIS

awesome mobile music workstation. great little workstation for ipad. i use wired earphones so i have no issue with it. it’s sad that some really good apps have become “legacy” apps due to the developer moving on and no longer interested in updating it, but it doesn’t mean they’ve completely lost relevance or can’t help you make music anymore. use them for what they are.

Causticité. Très bon séquenceur multiples synthèse avec effets

Best there is .... The synths are great, fx, mix, everything. Worth every penny and more.

Fantastic!. Fabulous, productive work flow. Low cpu usage - runs faster than any other DAW on my iPad 3. I mean, no hiccups, it just flows! Great sounds. Excellent Youtube tutorials. Free Mac and Windows versions*. Hard to go wrong here. * The developer could easily charge for this app on other platforms ... why he doesn't is beyond me.

Issue on start up with iPhone 11. Looking for some direction how to be able to use this app Soon as I launch the app a rack loads up but I don’t have any control Any know if this is a an ongoing issue?

awesome!. Caustic is a wonderful field of experimentation that delivers high quality results both on desktop amd on the go! a truly marvel. I have only one downside : please either update you caustic to Volca app or include it in upcoming caustic versions. we really need this unique and wonderful app on top of your main software which is amazing already!

Great loving it. Easy to use. Lot cheaper than Reason.

No Bluetooth, no Aux (IPad Pro 11).... Ya I will be looking for a refund.

$14 app worth $50!. Everything is intuitive, fun to learn and powerful if you know what you're doing. I will never go back to any Image Line mobile product again...

Stupid. You cannot even use your airpods for it, waste of money!! I’m looking for a refund

❤it!. I love it, very powerful sequencer and diverse selection of synths. Downloaded and played with it for hours before i could stop. This would be a five star review if it was more updated though. It's been two years since the last update and the app needs more than an interface refresh. If it weren't so good i wouldn't have tolerated the black borders and the clunky buttons.

Love it. Love it. Been using it since 2020. Sad it won’t be getting anymore updates anytime soon.

Awesome app! But bluetooth?. Why does this app not work with bluetooth headphones/speakers? This is a great tool for making music but I can’t even use it with decent sound? Yeah yeah, dongles exist, and I used to use the app with them, but I shouldn’t have to carry around a different pair of headphones and a dongle just for this app. Great app. Only giving it 1 star because I want this problem to be fixed.

So Pro yet so much Fun. This app is just simply amazing. I was making killer tracks in no time. You can touch on this app lightly and still achieve great results or you can dive deep into the app and create some very astonishing tracks. Most fun app and the most productive tool I have ever used. Well done 6 stars. ******

Little overwhelmed. This is more a "user review" than not. It has been several months using it on a near daily event. I am wanting some cool presets. These are hidden in all the tweaking. On surface most are gurgles and bleeps. A few real sounding instruments. So your satisfaction using this will depend on one's ability to coax the sounds you want. We need a video of some sonic possibilities and how to go from start to finish. Are there sound packages? Drums, leads, guitar? Ambient sound textures, pink floyd atmospheres? ?

A lot of power for little CPU. In the realm of "all in one" music apps, few are as easy to master and yet are so very powerful. All the control of the creation process is in the hands of the user. If you want one of those apps that creates music for you, you'll want to look elsewhere. This is an app for people who want to create amazing music themselves. Slick update! Lots of new functionality. If you're looking for a self-contained music creation station, you've come to the right place.

One of the best music apps!. Great sequencer and piano roll makes it easy to write a song. Many synths, a vocoder, a solid drum machine, lots of effects. Sample editing and chopping that you can assign to drums or a few of the synths. You can record moving knobs and faders. Nice big buttons and easy to get around makes it seam like a beginners app, but it is really a powerful music app.

WOW. Like they said, truly amazing package. Practically worth it for the tutorials alone. This really sets a new standard for an all in one music making monster. Of course there are other apps that do individual things better, but, in the big picture Caustic stands alone.

Amazing.. This app is smooth, reliable, and full of stuff. I would like to point out that rej hasn't updated for mor than 7 months (PLZ DO SUM MOR COOL STUFF). The midi editor is my favorite midi editor, and I like how the mixer has reverb and delay in it. 2 fx slots for each track, and the effects you can apply are rly cool. Pcmsynth can do samples, with a really amazing sample editor, but if you want to sing here, you might want audiobus. Gr8 i r8 8/8 m8

A lot of fun! Great for learning. Would like bluetooth/AirPod usability. Pls

Okay for experimentation, difficult to figure out the sequencer.. I could not do much with it in the first 30 minutes of learning it, I have a short attention span I admit, but how many of those who reviewed this app actually tried to record a song from scratch. I'd doubt the demos were recorded and edited with the app.

Thank You Rej. Got it after a convincing prompt from James on the company's forum. It is a VERY intuitive app, I am making music right away...I was pretending to be the Moroder/Jaia remix of The Chase with this app...total satisfaction. Yes, I second any emotion to get this app PRONTO! You will NOT be disappointed! It can be controlled via midi, you can compose it realtime...now it needs to have the requisite Audiobus implementation and so forth. But I am telling you all this: super firepower in its workflow considerations...really everybody, the competition in the likes of Nano_____ in particular haven't a candle lit to the torrent of this thing..Fully programmable synths, mega array of synthesis options, effects galore, 16 mixer channels! NO, I am not a paid schill, just a synth devotee that knows a good thing when I see, play, and hear it! Apple fanboys, be thankful this dude ported it over PERIOD. Merry Christmas and all the tidings of joy whatever flavor. Peace.

In every way. Every aspect of Caustic is dialed in and both accommodating to a new user and wide open for advanced operations. In addition it's streamlined and can run quite a lot of processes without a hiccup on an iPad 2. I just got it because it sounded great and spent the first night shaking my head in awe trying to figure out how this came to be. Unreal

The only music app you'll need for IOS. This app is fantastic. Looks and sounds great and very intuitive to use. If you're hesitant, try the Win/OSX version first.

Fantastic!. I almost never leave any comments about apps that I purchase, but this is one outstanding app. The quality and the variety of the individual components are amazing. I particularly love the vocoder and the modular synth. While the current release is a tremendous value for the money, I hope that future releases will include audiobus support, inter app audio and an arpegiator function.

Reason In Your Pocket!. I echo most of the comments here. I own NanoStudio, FL Studio, Beatmaker 2, and several other music apps. I also used Reason, Live , and Sonar. Caustic is flat out one of the best software DAWs I have worked with on PC, Mac, and IOS! If you are a fan of Propellerheads' Reason software you will feel right at home with Caustic. Caustic's sound quality is excellent. The wealth of presets are stellar. Getting new sounds into it via sampling, importing, Audiobus, etc. is easy and awe inspiring. The synthesis options are vast and some of the best on iOS! Modular in particular opens up new worlds of sound creation and sound stacking. The sequencer is terrific for creating both patterns and songs quickly. The finished song mix sounds professional thanks to well coded effects that can be applied as inserts or globally. Best of all the developer has found a way to provide an incredible arsenal of synths, samplers, and effects that use a fraction of the CPU used by apps half as powerful. Just an awesome musical app that makes my IPhone a serious and complete music production tool. If I was on an island and could only have one music app to play with, this would be a contender for the app I would choose. Lastly, reviewing the excellent tutorials is a must to get the most out of Caustic.

Super easy. This is a great app that is quite easy to use. The synths are not super deep as far as editing, but they sound great. Fun when you want to lay down a quick sequence. Fun to use.

sounds great, flows like lava. i have tried almost every iOS pro audio app, and of the stand alone units i find this to be the most user friendly, best sounding and positive for workflow. highly recommended.

Needs update. Doesn’t work on iPhone 15.

What? Seriously!!!. This app does not let you export Stamms at all

amazingly powerful, sounds great, hours of fun. but without the ability to export individual tracks, it is still useless to me in a practical sense. I salute the developer for his hard work. I will keep making tracks in it with hopes that the above feature is eventually added. that'll get the extra star.

Won’t work. I downloaded this into a iPhone 14pro max and it simply won’t run.

KS synth rocks!. This is the best mobile music production out there. I dont write many reviews but i wanted to take this time to give some love to the developer for doing an outstanding job. The tutorials are great too. Learning a lot from them. Thanks! Updated Review (May 21) Audiobus support takes this already amazing app to a different level. Love the new KS synth. I dont know how it is possible but it keeps getting better and better. Thank you to the developer! He's a one man army!

Totally unusable on IPhone XS Max. Interface loads in vertical mode with most of the keyboard obscured, will not rotate to horizontal. Completely worthless app on iPhone XS Max. How do I get a refund?

Hurts my eyes. Navigation is like a maze ...and the modular synth crashes the app. Plus many of the synths are boring and have a very digital sound .the sequencer wants you to understand quantized value in notation.(awesome if your not able to read music or if this is your first all in one app)The demos were written on multiple screens not the iPad! There are so many daws that put this to shame ! Why bother?this apps fan club for this are wrong ! Designed for people who love the extra three steps per event. Go figure. Christo

Interesting but overly complex. There's a lot to play with here for sure but I find the learning curve a bit too steep for my taste. There's a ton of different sounds in the app amongst the various machines included but far too many bizarre ones and not enough conventional ones (simple strings, for one...at least I couldn't find any). 3 stars anyway since there's so much under the hood with a lot of potential.

No Bluetooth headphones support. I only have Bluetooth headphones and this app doesn’t support it in iOS.

The best music app up to now on IOS-Essential must have!. I got animoog and basically all the must have synths out there including the latest by Korg called Gadget, but ever since i found out about this one, oh man i can't stop playing and making music with it. What i really love is how simple the UI is. But like others have mentioned, don't let that fool you. Because once you hear the sound quality and type of awesome music you can make with this app, you will be so amazingly surprised. All of this for a mere 10 bucks? Unbelievable!,, my favorite synth in Caustic is the PCM synth cause the sounds remind me of what is possible with the Korg Trinity and what is also amazing is that it has a built in sampler with tons of options. I haven't even scratches the surface of what this amazing app can do but i am learning it everyday. I also plan to use my iPad live on stage with a midi controller and this is going to be my main synth app. So i really suggest you get it if you are truly serious about making music. The developer is awesome and always ready to help so that is a big plus. I didnt even mention the tons of effects available get it!!!!!

Only grief about the app. When opened it plays whatever the last song you were working on and wish there was an option of creating a new song or continuing with the last. The second I hear the old riff is the second I forget the new riff. It’s really annoying wanting to put something new in and then you have the old riff in mind and I just forget the new riff. Would be excellent for option of creating new or continue old. The amount of machines to be used with an instrument could be expanded. And the export feature could make sense. Have never been able to utilize it. Maybe I’m just dumb and don’t know how to use app to its fullest extent, but more direct resources to what you want to hear and do would be awesome. Have often heard little riffs in videos I’d like to use in a song but getting it into it is idk just seems like a mess to sort out in audacity. Would like to see the app more streamlined to make some devastating songs and riffs. As is kind of a casual user experience to mess with when you’re on the plane or bus. Would just like to see something that truly makes this app powerful. Am stuck in a rut with it and everything comes out as a chip tune which is alright I guess but nothing that comes to as essential for the creation process. More of a roadblock than anything else. I might be stupid and asking too much, but I’d like being able to easily record a riff on the guitar or vocals and just put it in where I want it rather than trying to make it fit in. Everything feels forced when I want it to flow. Just an ordinary user’s experience.

The perfect tool for music creation on ios.. I don't write many reviews but I feel that caustic deserves my time and praise. There are many great things but I will try to focus on just a few. 1. it sounds great and is very stable even when pushing lots of tracks on my ipad 2. 2. It has the best, most usable workflow of any DAW I've tried, and I've tried many. 3. It has great compatibility with Audiobus and Audioshare and is capable of owing all of my old soundfonts I made in the sound blaster days. 4. This for me was huge. If you just take some time to watch all of the tutorial videos the creative potential is completely unlocked. Whether you are experienced with synths and daws or are new to all of this, these very comprehensive instructions will have you understanding the process and making music in no time. I can't emphasize enough how great it is to have solid instruction for use of an app. So few developers take the time to make this many videos. Bravo Caustic team.

Awesome. This is simply the best implemented sequencer app on iOS. The instrument quality is superb and everything works better than I expected. Export is a little buggy, so no five stars, but without a doubt worth every cent and the first one you should bury.

Got so many things on the mark including Binaural engine. I love that Caustic makes a sound when your finger touches the sequencer piano roll view. How many apps can't get that most basic intuitive feature. Thank you Caustic. And the second thing that I like to do is scroll through available instruments trying out the melody. Just flip through them like its a book. Excellent. I've been going one by one through my apps to see which can do binaural wobble. Binaural requires separate left and right bass engines playing bass at frequencies that differ by 0-60 hz. The brain pulses notices the difference and sends it's own pulse which among other things aligns left and right hemispheres, helps with sleep alertness, dreams, etc. ... And makes sick relaxing exciting bass wobble. Most synth app developers put the pan after all the oscillators only on the main output. To produce binaural the pan has to be on each oscillator to isolate left at one frequency and right at another. Try it out for yourself. Relatively easy on caustic because you can use whole notes and also sin waves are the best to use. The Caustic Subsynth for one has it. Hopefully Caustic can expand on what I mentioned so that only one pattern is necessary instead of two synth patterns and also it would be nice to know the frequency. Illness posting binaural track at DJ Greggar soundcloud. I'll be writing more just wanted to say thanks for those nice features and also the update with Audiobus.

Lot like Reason. Yeah and I love Reason. This is very much like P-Heads Reason for iPad that I had to say it. (though others are too I imagine). It's a great all in one composing program with a cool rack-like style that allows for the various synths, sampler, drum machine, other keyboards to be set up then routed through effects then ultimately sequenced and mixed. It's sweet and although it doesn't LOOK as smooth as Korg's Gadget but smoother than Pixitracker it works great! The modular synth (included) allows for some really complex patches. Works great with a controller so I actually just set up a bunch of keyboards and use it live with great ease. Very lightweight setup that sounds nice and fat. Buy it.

YES ;-). Ive been using REASON since it came out and it's my # 1 app for production.. This is like "REASON" for your iphone and I mean that! At first I thought caustic would sound cheezy and kill my CPU. Wrong.. This app is stable, sounds great... It not all that intuitive but after u mess with buttons here and there and "READ THE INTRUCTIONS ! You'll want no other music app on your phone. Hopefully there have an update with more sounds but making your own is easy. If u have Propellerhead Reason you'll see what I mean and your hear it too. I can't put caustic down! I'm hooked Caustic is the best app! Hands down.

Lightweight too!. I use my iPad primarily as a MIDI module for live use, with Audiobus, you can stack the hell out of things with Caustic. My current favorite is Magellan > DFX > Caustic. Magellan outputs 2 MIDI channels that Caustic sees. I can stack 2 sounds from Magellan, then 2 more in Caustic. Wall of sound!

NO REVIEWS??. I reviewed this product because there was no reviews and I thought I might as well give somebody my opinion about the app. It's great. hands down, the best music app on the market as of now for IOS. Beats GarageBand by a long shot...

Synths are too weak.. Basically this is a good app, full of features. You can't imagine what you got for ten bucks. But the problem is all the synths are too weak verging on useless. Which renders the whole thing a complicated toy. Caustic reminds me of early Reason. Reason was a classic and unique music tool, it probably still is. The early Reason didn't have too many synths and effects. But those few synths got the job done. Caustic is a different story. The dev apparently developed the app originally for smart phones. So he had to keep everything as simple as possible. All the synths became too simple like something you would expect from a tutorial demo in Reaktor. Furthermore the dev only allows you to add two effects on every synth, and the effects window is at a very uncomfortable place. The dev gather all the effects into two separated windows. This I could never understand, because this makes operating effects unnecessarily troublesome. So the users have little chance to improve sound by effects. Korg Gadget synths are simple too. But they don't reduce the sound quality. That is the major problem of Caustic. I wish dev could spend more time to improve the quality of at least one of the synths.

Almost a great app. Handy app for mobile use, however... Export to Audioshare has been broken for months, with no indication of when it will be fixed. This means that exporting midi is impossible until the problem is corrected. So yeah - it's fun for iPad use, but don't plan on moving your ideas to Ableton as midi until the next update.

WHY CAN’T I IMPORT A SOUNDFONT?!. LITERALLY I WANT TO IMPORT A SOUNDFONT BUT IT KEEPS PUTTING IT INTO PCMSYNTH AND I DON’T SEE PCMSYNTH ANYWHERE. WHY WILL YOU NOT IMPORT THE SOUNDFONTS ONTO SOMETHING ELSE?!

Why the hell cant you use this app with Bluetooth?? It’s 2018. Lame

Don't pass on it. The font is terrible. Don't sleep on this one though cause that's the worst part of it. Synths are very usable, effects are very usable, and the programming, while tricky at first is not a hindrance after about 5 minutes working your way around. Similar to how Reason is on a computer, this is one cool alternative to all the other daws on the App Store.

Solid "studio" app. I'm glad I found this app, its a lot of fun. Lately I've been working with the modular section, combined with my midi keyboard. Learning a lot about analog synths, and making some great patches. I also like the subsynth, the FM synth, and the PCM synth modules. And although a bit limited, the drum machine sounds used in the Beat Box module are pretty well sampled. I'm not a huge fan of the pattern-based recording, but it probably makes sense given the limitations of some older iPhones. Overall I'm fairly impressed with Caustic, and find it to be worth the $10.

Essential, Deep, Beautiful. There are so many praiseworthy things to say about Caustic - I'm going to hone in on a couple beyond the fact that Caustic SOUNDS fantastic. Caustic is clever, sleek and designed with a definite genius but somehow it pulls off the ultimate App (or Program) Trick: being extremely intuitive while also being deeply capable. It's an app you can get started with almost immediately yet also delve into for months discovering and exploring new and wonderful capabilities. The approachability of a far more limited app but with a further depth resembling an actual DAW -- Caustic has become one of my favorite ways to make music period. Additionally it exports at a choice of 16, 24 or 32bit, has a great UI, automation and an aspect I'm coming to appreciate more and more: Caustic has a heart and a personality -- that's truly rare even in apps that do what they do very well. Lastly the price: completely modest and beyond fair. everything about Caustic feels genuine and powerful. One of the absolute all-time iOS Greats.

Fantastic App. I have tried several of these "all-in-one" music sequencing apps, including GarageBand and Korg Gadget. IMHO, Caustic is the best one I've tried so far. It has an extremely diverse and usable set of synthesizers. There is only one drum machine, but it too has a very diverse set of kits, including a couple of really "different" ones (Latin, congas, tablas, coffee can!). The whole app seems to have been very well thought out to provide lots of capability as well as ease of use. And, it looks like everything in the mixer, effects, and most synth settings can be automated! Not only that, but the documentation, tutorial videos, and manual are extremely well done and understandable. This app would be incredible at 5X the price. I'm going to be exploring this one for a LONG time...

?. Why won’t this app work for Apple AirPods??????

Great app for sidechain compression. This app is great for sidechain compression and never crashes. Unfortunately doesn't work over Bluetooth speakers/headphones but keep the updates coming.

A ford that drives like a caddy. I was expecting to lock up my Ipad Air by loading 14 patches and multiple effects especially compressors. Not the smoothest interface, but it definitely a must have app for any innovative music maker. Note that exports are not as primitive as detailed in the documentation. Dropbox, Soundcloud, and ITunes file sharing are all there, if you purchase the Audioshare app

Not better than gadget. Not worth $10. The sequencer is completely unintuitive. There is no count in to record live. Pattern structure is a mystery. The manual is not much help.

So, so good. I already own BeatMaker 2, NanoStudio, Tabletop, and Garageband, so I was very hesitant to buy this app, but literally the second I opened it I realized it was worth the money. It's probably my favorite of all of them. I could go on endlessly about everything I love about this app, so I won't. Instead I have some feature requests: 1. Inter-app audio and audiobus! 2. Audiocopy/paste! 3. Audio recording!!!! (I would love to do demo vocals on my songs and not even have to leave this app to do it.) 4. More FX! Glitch, stutter, looper, etc. The more the merrier. That's all I can think of at the moment. Thank you for porting this app to iOS. It's absolutely outstanding and the closest thing to a desktop music program we have for the iPhone yet.

Amazing sound, features and value. Must buy for any iOS musician. Great synth modules, drum machine and sequencer. Very useful FX as well. Also great that it supports different skins. Cross buy so i'm enjoying it on both my iPad and iPhone6+. Highly recommended!

Best DAW for iPad. There were several REASONs why I bought this app. It was for a very REASONable price. I own Cubasis and Beatmaker, and Caustic's UI is much better than Beatmakers, while it's effects and automation ability are better than both. It is definitely a great buy. I hope the developer adds other export capabilities without having to spend another $4, and of course Audiobus. Thanks for your hard work on the port!

Just needs inter app audio. Great app, has all the bells and whistles. Best all around go to app with this update, but with more and more apps adding iaa support, audiobus is becoming, as audiopaste once was, something we use when we absolutely have to. The convenience of inter app audio support which would probably mean one more machine, one that controls iaa apps. Imagine the potential then, being able to use synths like nave. Then we'll have a 5 star app.

Almost perfect. With the ability to import sound fonts and instruments, this has become a hugely valuable tool for recording a raw sketch of a track. Two things that would make this even better, 1. MIDI Out. Would create an environment much like a desktop DAW controlling it's VSTs via piano roll... Which would be fantastic. 2. I understand that providing more inter-app compatibility is opening Pandora's box sometimes, but there are simply so many powerful effects processors and dynamic EQ modulators that would GREATLY enhance the quality of each track I record. Adding Inter-App effects to the mixer would allow me to mold tracks into much closer to final product than raw material. Thanks!

AWESOME!!!. Simply the best version yet. It added everything I wanted, to make this already excellent app even better. Thank You for creating and improving this amazing product. Keep up the good work!
