A mess. Can’t tell where North is. This version is a complete mess. Point the iPad South, the app says it’s North. Or East. Or West. But never South. Flips to portrait mode by itself and won’t flip back without being force quit. Really very useless.

Inaccurate…. I’m looking at the Moon about 45degrees about the horizon and am told it is way below the horizon. I’m guessing that there is some way to calibrate but can’t find how to do that.

Star. GREATEST. I have used this app for years. It is the best app for casual stargazing. I have tried other apps but nothing rises to the challenge. Even tho it is not free anymore, it’s worth the 99 pennies it costs.

The illustrations are lovely, and I love the way the stars connect into constellations as you pan towards them! I also love that you can click on the stars or planets and get information about them. Simple and Great. I’ve had this app for years now and it’s been worth every penny. It makes my inner child happy to be able to put names to constellations I’ve seen since I was a kid. Sometimes the alignment can be slightly off, for example Orion is located more left on the on screen map than it is in the sky. But you can still figure it out really easy, even in a high lit area like a big city.

My go to celestial app. I have downloaded several nigh sky/star apps and I always go back to this one.

Make animated starts. The app is great and I love it. I will recommend make all the starts animated. Like the fire in the sun and the others starts have movement, that will be great and very realistic. I love this app!!!

Best app for stargazing. I’ve had this app for many moons now and it keeps getting better and better. It’s super easy to use and that just makes the experience so much better because you can actually focus and appreciate what you’re seeing, be present in the moment Instead of messing around with options and tweaks. The simplest is often the best!

The Best. Simply, this is the easiest to use, easiest to understand, most informative sky-gazing app I've used. I've deleted all the others on my device!....(four years later)and since I originally wrote this review, this app has gotten even better. Still shamelessly simple to use but now they’ve added gobs of information for each star, planet, and constellation. This is an excellent app!

Frozen. I’m experiencing difficulty getting the app to move the sky when I rotate from left to right. It’s not working right.

Problems!. For a long time now, sky orientation does not match up with the app. I point my iPad to a compass direction, and the display shows a night sky which represents some other direction of night sky objects.

Informative, helpful, beautiful, and fun!. I just recently got this app and it is definitely worth the 2 dollars! It gives a long paragraph about every constellation you could think of!

I love it, But there is a problem. I love this app. But it has the cycles of the moon and other constellation way off now. Today and into tomorrow is the super harvest moon Sept. of 2023. Yet the app is showing the moon as a half waning moon. I noticed that there has been no new update in 9 months so I’m not sure if this app is even truly active anymore. I hope to hear back from the creator to find out one way or another. And if find out if there is a way to update the issues of the moon cycles. Thanks much.

AR. Isn’t it supposed to act like I’m pointing my camera at the sky, following my movement? Well it isn’t. I have to scroll manually, plus it’s not showing an updated sky..,

Broken since the update. Ever since it updated to 14.0 it doesn’t work. It opens in a static position facing north even though I’m pointing south and if I tap it to re-orient, it jumps to another static position below the horizon.

Fantastic Astronomy App!. This app is the best for viewing celestial objects and assisting in recognizing constellations and planets real time. Just point your phone at the heavens and immediately see the positions of the constellations and planets.

Doesn’t work. Since updating to iOS 14 app doesn’t work. Must be manually moved on the screen to the correct direction which defeats the purpose of the app.

This is amazing. Love this app!! it's very clever and interesting to read. I like looking at it day or night to see how things are moving around. It would be good if the sun had an outline or something so you know where it is, as it doesn't show unless you do a search for it then you get a floating arrow. Great app!!

Not bad. Yeah, not bad I guess. Putting a few more key constellations (like the Southern Cross) on here would be good, just like adding a few noteworthy stars (such as Alpha, Beta and Proxima Centauri). I like how Pluto is still referred to as a planet, though. That makes a lot of people very happy.

Good app. This app would be much better if there was a calibration button: Point your phone north, press button then it should re-set the compass to be pointing north... Another thing that would be great is that to get your location, type in your longitude/latitude (optional) But overall this app is pretty good

Went from a 5 star to a 3. Why would you develop an app of the stars where you can't calibrate the directions??? When I face what is in fact North, it show West, NW at best and goes from there. Did I miss something??

Incredible!. I've always wanted to learn more about identifying constellations & this is an amazingly great app for that purpose. I live in Winnipeg Canada & the light pollution sometimes obscures stars but during my travels to the Caribbean when the nights are clear & stars are brilliant I'm able to locate and identify everything easily using this tool. Am looking directly at Sagittarius from my balcony as I write this review. Thank you!

Weird location glitch?. Love this app in general, probably my favourite app, but for some reason the automatic navigation based on my location is backwards/mirrored now. The sun was setting and the app said it was on the complete opposite side of the sky than it was. Unhelpful if what I’m looking at on the screen(which used to show what’s in front of me) is what’s behind my head. Not sure which direction is which either now.

How do I calibrate this?. I pointed at the sun and it said the sun was below the horizon. How do I calibrate this? It is a good app but doesn't point to the right spot on the sky.

Amazing!. This is such a cool app to see the stars. Great for anyone who wants to see the sky in a new way. Story Time: I was out one night and I noticed a bright light beside the moon. I didn't know what it was, so I used the app to see that it was Saturn!

Not accurate! Big letdown. This app will skip or interrupt the compass calibration step 9 times out of 10. And no option to re-calibrate in the menu: huge oversight. I've never seen this app be accurate, even when I have calibrated it, it's still off by a few degrees. Should have an option to re-calibrate or even to find tune on the fly so you can really line everything up perfectly

Used to work great. What the heck is going on guys?? I load the app, and it goes haywire wanting to calibrate, and can never finish. Used to work great before the IOS software upgrade. Now it's crappy. Hope it gets fixed. This is one of the better star gazer apps, when it worked.

It is fun, BUT!. The app is a lot of fun,I wanted to see the constellations and the stars, and planets, but I agree with an earlier review, the calibration is way off. If you hold the screen steady and lock it on the horizon or the sky it drifts around and is not sure of the direction. Maybe the version I have is wrong or has a bug, but I tried it on my iPhone if you did the same thing.

Great for me... and the kids. Terrific for teaching my kids the constellations, even from inside the house or on a cloudy evening.

Moon phase incorrect. How can the sun be to the LEFT of the moon, and yet the moon is lit on the RIGHT side?

PERFECT APP. This app is seriously amazing. Coming from a girl who downloaded this app while laying under the stars on a date, I can't find any flaws with it whatsoever. You just hold your phone up to the sky and it accurately points out all the stars, planets, and constellations above you! And it gives you info about what you're looking at!! My favorite app by far!

Fascinating!. It's fantastic to be able to just point my phone in the air and see the universe come to life! So much fun. I've noticed it is not always perfectly aligned with the sky however. Sometimes you have to find something you know to figure out how far off the accuracy is. Overall I've enjoyed it.

Fun to use!. A couple of weeks ago the news was all about the great view of Mars we would have that night and how to find it in the night sky. Sure enough-it was easy to see. The sky was very clear and we live far from major city lights so we were able to see so many bright stars. But what were they? I quickly found and purchased this app and was able to use it to identify so many constellations! Really fun to use!

Calibration is off. I love this app the only problem is the calibration is off . I point it to NE and it tells me it's NW , i point it E it tells me it's W now I face sun rise so unless sun rise is to the west The Calibration needs to be fixed 5-4-15 the calibration is still off unless the earth completely shifted I point my iPod n iPad east and it says it's West I point it South a And it says North and now I can't even find Taurus in the sky

Awesome but.... This is an awesome app but it would be even better if the devs could add the ability to show the orbit lines of planets, the moon, and the sun. That would really help with perspective.

Absolutely amazing. This app has beautiful animation and art, making it as beautiful as the actual thing (maybe even more). The fact that this is real time and real life astonishes me. Amazing. This app is awesome!! Very fun and zero glitches. You can scan over any part of the sky and see detailed views of all constellations. There is no wait time for them to appear either. Plus you can click each one for more info. I love this and so does my 4 year old son

So fun!. I don't usually write reviews for apps but Starlight is so fun, I have to share my opinion. I've always wondered what planets and stars I could see in the night sky but could never be sure. With Starlight, I now know. Besides showing constellations, the app also shows planets. Pull the screen out with your fingers to zoom in to see planets and stars. Also, check your direction to be sure your app is calibrated correctly. If you are directionally challenged, compare to your compass app. Your starlight screen shows the direction you are pointing with a small letter in white on the horizon. If you are off, fully close the app by double clicking the center button on your device then swipe up to close. Now reopen Starlight. Then app should recalibrate for you.

Use to love it. I use to love this app but now everything is in red and dark, can barely read anything.

Mornings are better now!. It's not even "crack of dawn," but I just got up and took out the dogs. But because of this app, it's so much more interesting every morning. I look up at the sky and then open the app to learn what constellation I can see. Very cool!

Fun app. It has never been very clear to me where the picture in the constellation was, but with the app, it shows me the constellation and how the picture fits into it. Lots of fun.

Best App Ever!. This is extremely fun and easy to use. Point it to the sky and see the layout of the constellations and names of the stars and planets. Want more information about the planet or particular star? Just highlight it and it tells you more detailed info on it. Wow! Educational and inspiring how good it is.

I like it, but.... This is a very nice app. The gyroscope is cool, but I don't always want it on. I wanted the app so I could just set it down by my bed and watch the stars rotate, the stars that I couldn't see already. It's a good start but there aren't a lot of options.i would like to be able to zoom out so I can see a larger portion of the sky as well. I guess overall I was disappointed. :(

Beautiful. Everything I was hoping for.. I was looking for a constellation app that would show the sky in realtime depending on where I pointed my phone. This works perfectly. It's smooth, beautiful, and you can turn the horizon and constellation imagery on and off depending on if you want data or art. Beautiful. Thank you!
