Update is SO BUGGY please fix it or revert it ASAP. I use this app all day every day. And now I’m in a hang up because of its issues. I mark-up pdf documents, and i also am now using a stylus with the iPad Pro. This buggy update is going to cost me my job. It’s caused the pdf to crash the app, and when I emailed it to my old iPad with the non-updated version of the app this new pdf crashed that app too. It’s not a corrupt pdf, it’s corrupt because of this new updates bugs. The marks I put in the pdf using this app literally corrupted the pdf file. Other issues include the page moving, instead of staying still, so it’s not allowing the pen to write or copy. That is frustrating. And often I find that I can’t swipe thru the pages anymore, which makes this app very difficult to be patient with or useful. Considering you now want to charge more money to use this app you better fix it!

If only I can split the view within the app. The product is wonderful. It is very easy to manage files, all nice selections of turning pages(vertical/horizontal), writing notes; it is a great app to read papers and books for students. If there is any bit of part that is lacking, then i would like to say the split view. Of course with this app, you can multi-task. However if i want to read two books at the same time, especially when one is for reference, I have to export one of the books to another pdf reading app and multi-task these two apps to have two books in my sight simultaneously. This is a bit of a hassle. As a owner of a 12.9” ipad - with a large screen, in-app split view would be a great option. Anyways, other than this small issue, everything is perfect.

Dishonest reviewers. These negative reviews are extremely dishonest. Readdle is an amazing company—always super responsive to its customers. If you upgraded to PRO in a previous version, then you still have the same functionality. Tap restore purchases and stop badmouthing one of the best developers in the App Store. The new subscription is geared toward professionals (read: businesses) and is a bargain compared to an Adobe subscription. Honestly, I prefer Readdle’s UI to Adobe’s hands down. If you’re not a business, then just be grateful for the free updates and keep on freeloading for as long as you can. Software is a service, not a tool. It takes a lot of time and energy to build and maintain. To those users who deleted the app because they can’t have 15 colors of highlighters or whatever— good luck finding an app that can even nips at the heels of PDF Expert in terms of functionality.

Honestly, the best PDF reader ever!. For the past couple of months, I have been solely relying on PDF readers for school work since the Pandemic has really taken over. It is very difficult for me to visit my local library for physical books, forcing me to turn towards electronic books instead. I’ve used various PDF readers in the past but have always been very uncomfortable with the limited features they offered until I discovered PDF Expert. This app has every feature I can ever ask for. One BASIC feature that most PDF readers did not have (from my experience) was the ability to change the PDF file into dark mode. The background of each page change into the color black and the fonts to the color white, making it easier to view at night. This feature has greatly improved my health. I no longer suffer from migraines and eye strains. Thank you Readdle! You guys are truly a blessing.

Misleading update. While this has always been the best pdf app for school textbooks, the new update has ruined what set it apart from competitors in terms of workflow. It used to have all the tools in one toolbar with four customizable pens/highlighters so you could quickly switch between different colors and pens. Now the most useful tools are scattered between different toolbars and there is only one pen and one highlighter in the toolbar. And instead of using a long-press to customize your tools like in the previous versions, you must now tap extra times to open an expandable toolbar, thereby adding a step to the process. This is a serious step back as it negates the strengths of a tablet and diminishes efficiency. It seems like a confused philosophy that prioritizes aesthetics over functionality. And now if you want the same toolbar that was in the previous version, you will have to pay for the “pro features” in order to access the customizable “favorites” toolbar. So while the update description states that it only adds to functionality of the previous version and doesn’t take away anything, this is simply untrue (in my case, at any rate).

Grad Student. Almost all my classmates use Notability, which I had and used for the first part of my program. I switched to this app, and have fallen in love. It allows me to organize my files multiple folders deep and they stay in my iCloud Drive which allows me to access my notes on any computer since it’s just saved as a PDF. It allows you to select to highlight the text vs. just using the highlighter so my notes look much neater. You Can also strike through and underline the text. You still have the ability to hand write notes and such on top of just doing the changes to the text. It gives ability to view the outline format, and if you purchase the upgrade you can build the outline (which has been a lifesaver for 120 slide class PowerPoints), also with the upgrade you can also make links within the text.

Loved it, now my files are held hostage. I’ve used this app for almost three years to save and organize scholarly research articles for graduate school. I loved everything about it. Now I’m completing my capstone project and I can no longer upload anything new unless I pay 50 dollars a year for services I already had access to before. I cannot even highlight passages. No warning was given to me prior to this change. On top of that, several of my most important files are now unretrievable due to being corrupted when I decided to save them to the cloud so I could pick them up on other devices. I intended to keep this essential library of research into my professional career, and now the only way for me to do that (and complete my capstone project) is to painstakingly re download each article onto a new app. This would not be so infuriating if I had been given notice of the upcoming changes.

One of the Best. I must say, by far this is one of the greatest apps I have ever used that I just had to write a review. Finally, there is an app the includes everything you could want to do on a pdf: make underlines with a variety of colors, highlight, also ADD NOTES to an underlined portion or highlighted text, type out notes even using different fonts, handwritten notes and so much more. This is such a wonderful tool to use for studying that I just cannot imagine a better way of doing things. I love the filing system with folders, linked to files app, to photos. Everything in one place is such a wonderful solution to so many problems. And thank you development team for putting forth the effort to make so many different widgets. You all have done a great job and makes me want to buy the app just to ensure you all are fully supported financially for the fine work done.

No way to purchase app, can only be ‘rented’ for $50/year. I would gladly pay whatever you feel your software to be worth to own it. However, this “subscription” model where you are essentially only renting out the app, is exceedingly unfair with the customer. I’ve been using Goodreader, for example, for years and years. By 5 years, your app has cost 250USD, and by 10 years, 500 dollars. Please add an option to purchase the full version of the app outright, rather than a subscription-only model, to which I, and many like me, would never agree, no matter how good the app itself. Don’t give in to this unfair concept of software as a service, instead of a product, which it is. It’s being pushed currently as it’s more profitable, but exploitative to customers, don’t encourage it. UPDATE-REPLY TO DEVELOPER COMMENT: Thank you for your reply; what I’m requesting is the ability to purchase the app outright and permanently, for whatever it’s price is, and NOT to purchase a subscription in order to be able to use it, no matter how flexible. My request is for a purchase option, whereas you currently only allow subscription-based option, which I, and I imagine many like me, would never do, although I would be willing to pay a considerable amount to purchase the app, it’s currently not an option for any amount. A “more flexible” subscription plan doesn’t help, as I will not purchase a subscription.

Great App, Beats Competition, but…. Functionality not consistent across all platforms. (Tools and cloud files). Merging files is wonky. I love so much about it, in many ways it’s the best PDF tools out there. Which is shocking in 2023. PDFs aren’t as specialized as the were 20 years ago, literally everyone uses them. Why don’t we have all the tools for the most ubiquitous and flexible file type on the planet? Bluebeam is powerful but garbage interface, actually makes working with PDFs slower. Acrobat has long been the industry standard, and although it’s the most powerful, true to Adobe ethos, it’s with very restrictive and greedy paywall, and it’s geological slowness to adapt and modernize allows startups like PDF Expert to give us what we need. Please keep it up, guys! (and support and love to you and your country)

So, so good. There are so few apps that bring me joy every time I use them, but PDF Expert is one of them. It provides all the functionality I need - but plenty of apps do that. This one is special because it works *just* right. No extra taps. Whenever I guess how something should work, it does! And I spend a LOT of time with PDFs, so being efficient is crucial. Plus, I totally live out of Dropbox, and its connection is completely reliable. And finally, I go back and forth between iPad and MacOS and PDF Expert works appropriately and efficiently on each. I’m spending the time to write this review because I depend on PDF Expert every day and want to make sure it continues to live for a long time. I see people using Acrobat and see how much they tap and click and what a mess it is. Yeah for the simplicity and reliability of PDF Expert!

Unparalleled Excellence!. If you are looking for a PDF editor / file manager and more, you will not find one that equals or surpasses the excellence of this app. I have been using iOS pdf apps for years and I tried PDF Expert when it first hit the App Store. At that time, it was good, but not the best. But I continued to follow the progress of the development team over the years, and about 18 months ago they reached the top of the performance and functionality charts in my estimation. I have a PDF library of around 4,000 volumes, and I use this app exclusively to manage and view those files. (I also recently used it to proofread and mark up a PhD dissertation for a colleague, and the annotation tools couldn’t have been better designed.) And there is more to come as the development team continues to listen to users (and respond to their emails!) and add more functionality. Buy it now before the price goes up to what it is worth!

New version crippled my favorite app. I loved PDF Expert for the first 2 years that I used it. An incredible tool — to synch across all my cloud services (Google, OneDrive, Dropbox), and to easily mark up and edit PDFs. Then, last year, they “improved” it with a major update. Some changes were mildly annoying (like hiding commonly used tools several clicks down). But the real problem is basic performance. Documents now constantly lag. Handwriting with the pencil fails to appear on screen for 5 seconds after you write it — leaving you waiting, like an idiot, wondering whether to write it again or just wait or shut the app. It has made it almost unusable, which is a tragedy. I really wish I could “downgrade” to the 2018 version of the app, which was a jewel. When this first happened, I assumed it was growing pains with a major rewrite, and that they would de-but it within a few weeks. But nothing has happened. More than 6 months have gone by... I have the latest version of the app, running on the most powerful iPad Pro on the market... and it continue to freeze, freeze, freeze. Readdle: where is your development team?? Are they on vacation? Is no one tracking usage data on how the app is actually working for users?

Re-paying for features we already purchased once. When I originally purchased this app before the newest updates (downgrades, for those of us who originally paid money for the app, which suddenly lost all capability, unless we were willing to fork over an additional $50!) I would have said it was a great app. I work as a paralegal, and this app used to be awesome for on-the-go creating/editing of all the court documents we work with which must be submitted as pdfs. I especially used to love the signature feature, as it meant I sometimes no longer even had to travel in order to get client signatures for continuance forms. I was so disappointed to discover, as of a couple days ago, that my paid for, super awesome app no longer provided me access to any of the useful features I had come to love. Apparently if I wanted to continue using the app as I had for the past year, I was now expected to pay an additional $50. I’ve never had a company pull such a bait and switch, and I’m incredibly disappointed at how transparent a money grab this ploy is. Shame on you guys, this app used to be a great product and a fair price, but I’m not going to keep repaying for things that I, the consumer, was lead to believe would be a one time purchase to unlock price. Bummed!

Another Subscription. Almost every app from the worthwhile app to even the piss-poor one's require subscriptions in order to use them. It's enough to make you go bankrupt! This has gotten way out of hand, and is simply not fair to the consumer. Many apps even conceal costs and info regarding purchases required to get anything of value from an app. Then, there is of course, the text which lays out "the terms". Most average people cannot understand or even read the content which is written in profuse legalese. I've shown some of these "terms" documents to attorneys, and even some of them were scratching their heads. In reality, the way these things are constructed, it would probably be wise to retain an attorney just to review these terms before you agree to use any application. Some of the lawyers I spoke with said they'd never agree to having their clients sign on to any number of apps with these terms. That is especially true with regard to issues of privacy which always seem to appear in the very smallest of print. While this app does look very capable and would be a welcome addition, you add up the costs of 10, 20 or 30 subscriptions, you suddenly realize why you're running a deficit at bill time. Offer a purchase option for people!

Good, mostly.. Pretty good pdf editor overall, but some issues. Big one for me - for date fields it only allows their custom date-picker keyboard UI, but the output doesn’t seem to be compatible with that space in the pdf I’m trying to fill, and it doesn’t let you over-ride the date-picker keyboard for a standard keyboard....incredibly frustrating, please fix! Furthermore, it seems there’s an issue in both this app and documents app while editing a pdf field that if it says ‘only enter spaces, letters, etc’, and the modal dialog for this pops up, you can’t then dismiss it without force quitting the app. Incredibly annoying and frustrating. Also, the file structure of the various readdle apps with relation to your device and iCloud is frustrating, not very convenient to use them together even bough I’ve paid for every single in app purchase and every one of their apps.

Lost features. This is undoubtedly the best pdf app out there, too bad that recent update made it go backwards instead of forwards. First of all, The option of three pencils was very efficient and quick, as well as the “zoom in pencil” function, which is now buried deep inside the color selector of the only available pencil, which is nothing but a slowdown. As i used to have multiple colored and sized pencils ready to go, now i have to change it every single time. Secondly, ive had this app for about 2 years, ive had about 1000 books inside of it, but it’s all gone after the update, I can’t seem to be able to find it anywhere after the lastest update, even though they’re still taking space in my ipad “3.3gb is the storage taken by this app” which means they’re still there somewhere, i just can’t seem to find them anywhere. Luckily I could re-download those books, but i just can’t get over the fact that all my highlights are gone now.

Great but needs improvement. 1. Now iPads are powerful and we can open many files at the same time, but scrolling over long thin file tabs is a bad way to switch between them... Xodo/ Notability has the option of see these tabs as a pop up window and navigation over there is easier. 2. Gives an option to fix the tools area, to disable the auto-hiding mode. Goodnotes has a fixed tool area and it can be good when auto-hiding is annoying to some people since it can be often triggered accidentally. 3.Double tab to jump from different modes, fit to page, zoomed in, fit to width. I like this part of Goodnotes. 4. A great app but needs improvement and definitely does not justify the yearly subscription price tag so far from my trial period experience. Hyperlink would be a very great tool for me sometimes but I don't like to pay 50 dollars every year when I could find other methods to replace this function to some extent.

Great support service team. I was made aware of PDF Expert recently before the update to version 7, and took a while to decide to make use of it, especially the pro tools, since my needs are those of a college student. I'm very glad I made the choice to acquire the app and its pro features however. Its the only app that actually lets to modify and work with or create pdf documents with all their features (like hyperlinks - which was my key interest for note taking). The app has a simple and hands on interface and works very well for me. My key uses for it are for organizing information ive collected from other sources and class notes, hyperlinking between my notes to improve my studies and learning, as well as, when possible with the pdfs I use, edit the pdf file itself to select elements to keep. While screenshots are wonderful and useful, and incorporating them into note apps are easy and useful, when working with pdfs, being able to use the image quality and format of the pdf books i own allows me to work with the content as is, rather than an image of it, which really appeals to me. I had a few issues with my acquisition with regards to its update to version 7, and through this learned how attentive and thoughtful Readdle is to their user base, including new users. They made me feel like they really wanted me to make the best use of their software and feel like it should have a place in my workflow. I'm grateful to the quick responses and attention to my needs and uses.

Converted to a Subscription service after I Paid $80 and used twice. Edit: so just to be clear… According to the developer the app for the Mac did not change to subscription? That was a one time purchase that remained? The iPad only version is a subscription? If so that explains it but honestly I find it ridiculous that I have to pay three times to get the app across all three of my platforms. I would even pay a one time fee but not doing the subscription. Adobe acrobat pro is a monthly fee and you get it across all the different devices. Why would I pay $80 for the Mac version and then monthly subscription for the iPad version and then he knows what you’re demanding for the iPhone version. Just like the title says. I paid $80 for this app which is already quite a lot of money and how do use that maybe twice. Every now and then I need to merge or split PDF documents. Very light works. I was told this is the best app. I came back to it to do some PDF editing and it’s telling me I need to pay $50 a year. I already did a one time purchase of $80. Completely dishonest and unfair business practices. At least grandfather and the people that already purchased the app for a one time price or credit them the $80 they spent towards a subscription. Now you’re expecting you to pay 50 bucks a year? So I paid $80 to use the app twice?

love it, BUT. I use the pro version of this application on my iPad with an apple pencil. Perfect software and device combination for my court case brief annotations, and digital textbooks for school. Currently providing a rating of 4 stars because I want more custom interface personalizations. for an example a custom color palette that consisted of more colors, like 10-12, palette to be locked and saved on my toolbar instead of changing back to default. Instead of having it layer under more that two clicks (or touches of my pen). Yes I have a half a dozen options now two clicks away. Personally I would prefer a dozen. I do see the favorite tab and that is okay. The annotation feature is my favorite, I enjoy how easy it is to make a paired down outlines for studying. Love the option to have a couple documents up at once. Love the bookmark feature! This is a great tool. Looking forward to more collections of stickers, specifically stickers that I can insert text into. Please take me back to 90s Word graphics. Another factor, wish this application had the ability to create or edit fillable forms. I was disappointed when I found fillable form creation was not a feature. Very essential during these pandemic times. This application is the primary reason I purchased an iPad. Thank You!

Good, but sometimes freezes. This app is great with the Ipad Pro 2020. I downloaded it for school so that I could take notes in my online readings for class and research. I have the Apple Pencil 2 and smart keyboard, which work very well with this app. I love that this app also automatically syncs with my Google Drive account. I store all my class files and online articles I’ve researched in my Drive. I can easily access the PDFs stored in my Drive through this app to read and take notes. Then, the PDF I took notes on automatically updates in my Drive. It cuts out a few extra steps and keeps things organized. There’s no extra downloads or transferring files between apps needed! The only thing I would complain about is that every once in awhile, the app freezes. I always have a few files open at once, so I don’t typically just click on a different file and it unfreezes. I am willing to take an occasional freeze from time to time in exchange for this app’s efficiency.

Correcting myself — I was wrong and tech support was excellent. Frustrating experience outlined below; my tone was not nice. When I reached out direct to Readdle, it turned out even though i only actively installed the app on the iPad, the app was on both iphone and ipad, thus I couldn’t delete the PDF Expert folder until app was deleted on both devices. Readdle support was professional, and responded in a reasonable time. They were so good and pleasant the review goes from 1* to an easy 5*. Maybe the app wasn’t for me for now, but customer support that listens is worth a great rating. I. Was. Wrong. Thank you Readdle. ==== Old review ==== When I tried out the app, everything worked okay, but it just wasn’t what I was looking for. It created a folder for PDF Expert files in my iCloud folder, which created one in my iCloud for Windows. I uninstalled the app from the iPad, and removed the file and folder from the iPad just fine...BUT THE PDF EXPERT FOLDER CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM WINDOWS. I have tried a number of ways to change the folder’s Read-Only permissions on Windows in order to remove it (it’s empty). I CANNOT change permissions (access denied) via command prompt, Windows powershell, the GUI, or anything. Don’t point at Windows as the problem—nothing else installs a read-only directory other than PDF Expert. Not LiquidText, not the Downloads folder, just this one. Wretched programming on the iCloud synchronization.

THIS IS THE BEST. BETTER THAN ADOBE. For years I’ve had nothing but issues with Adobe, Apple Pages, Word Doc. Nothing would ever work under one umbrella. In two simple words absolutely dysfunctional. This App by PDF Expert allows you every kind of access to exit, create and multitask all PDF & word documents easily and add components you cloud not in other software. There is nothing it cannot do. FORGET ADOBE & stop paying monthly fees & get this all in one APP that will change the way you work. Thank you for creating an App that never fails & performs in a way that leading expectations are met by the standards you’ve given in an APP. Most recently there was a corrupted important document - sent it to support. FIXED within a day & returned. In today’s world it is extremely difficult to have a company give such satisfying customer support. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Adobe- ALL FAIL miserably where READDLE succeed. We are very grateful & wish READDLE as a company much continued success. This is why I left Adobe years ago & switched to READDLE. Product & customer support. It’s the backbone of any customer relationship & READLE recognise this at every turn.

Has some major limitations. This App is OK for a mobile app if all you want to do is fill in existing PDF files, but for truly editing documents it falls short. There’s no way to add enterable fields such as text fields, check boxes, signature fields, to be able to send to others and have them fill out. Additionally there are formatting issues any time I try to edit text, you can’t make text bold (what the heck??) and can only underline, and when I do try to underline text is screws up the formatting. Adobe Acrobat DC reigns supreme when it comes to editing PDF’s, however because I use my iPad as my work computer, this means I’m out of luck. Would love for the devs to add some of these features, or at the least, clean up the formatting issues. EDIT: I am currently trying to edit a pdf and there are SO MANY GLITCHES that it is more trouble than it is worth. Formatting issues, even hitting a number key and a different number being added (typing 4 creates 6’s in one field). This app is a buggy mess.

Surprising amount of free very useful features.. Needed to scan a document to send to court and opened this app I’ve had on my phone for a while that I was only using as a pdf viewer/converter and was pleasantly surprised when scanning an image and saving as a pdf file was so simple and most of all, a free feature. My experience in the past is whenever I need to use an app for something important, it’s a paid version and I have to spend 5 minutes searching the App Store for a free option that is also going to watermark or make me sit through ads to use. This app made it simple enough and pleasant enough that I actually felt the need to go open the App Store, find this app, and write a review; that’s saying something! So- thanks PDF Expert for making an app that has free features that are actually incredibly useful and simple.

Do everything PDF application for iOS. Essential application for me. I get several faxes a week (via eFax) these are PDF files and I can send directly to PDF expert, mark them, physically sign them (on screen) and re fax. I get PDF reports that I need to fill out, and this application makes it easy. Type or draw on the PDF document, then email the edited copy. It allows me to move pages in a PDF document (sometimes page 1 needs to be page 3 - easy to move). I can rotate pages, delete or add pages. I have merged up to 4 PDF documents into one new document. Removed, edited and sorted pages. Delete pages you don’t need. I can fill out PDF forms. (Have not made a form that has to be filled out - never had the need, so I can’t comment on this capability). I can fill out any form by entering text on the appropriate line even if it was not originally meant to be filled out online. [NOTE: I am a real user and have never been contacted by Readdle. I don’t rate many applications, but this one has been so useful to me, I wan’t others to use it so Readdle will continue to support this excellent program.]

Best PDF reader, editor and document manager. I have used PDF Expert for my business to organize all my documents from companies I used to represent. Merge documents to prepare for customer meetings. So easy to quickly prepare information upon request for customers no matter where I was from my office to my car in between my appointments. Now that I am retired I still have need for PDF Expert for information from my reading and personal research I do online. Form editing is important for managing my investment and medical PDFs. I will keep using PDF Expert because I continue to find need for it going forward. The updates just keep making the app better and better. It is obvious that the PDF Expert team is dedicated to keep making this app the best in its product category.

Love New Inbox Feature. .. Do not like company went to subscription model. I have used this app for years and it is a great, full featured app. I paid every time new features were added and happily did so. I appreciate that all I have paid for, I still can use. I wish I could use this app fully as an all in one but not paying for another subscription when the technology subscribe to, in other apps, I do not need a subscription for. I ask for a one time price as others have, or go back to paying for new upgrades. As for app itself, love it and use it everyday. Apple is creating their own apps that do many things for free now, so a subscription model for any app is definitely not the way to go. But, I do love this app and because they honoured my purchases, am giving it 5 stars.

READ False Advertisement All Day READ. The product is mediocre compared to things you can get for free anyways but here was the kicker for me. I started using this software for the editor to pdf invoicing. I use a MacBook, IPad, and iPhone Pro as many cross reference these devices as Apple has been notorious in setting up there devices to be used this way. So I started off on my computer downloaded the software, then connected them and used the app. It was a free trial for a week and then was 50/year. I make a couple invoices and my trial ends and I’m charged for the year and get on my Mac which is now telling me my trial has ended? I contact support who informs me that each platform has its own license fee? Ha, gimmick all day. So you pay 90 for the Mac a year 50 for the iPhone and I don’t even wanna see what the iPad says. So you need 3 different licenses to make this actually work! Let’s talk about a company that has a clue shall we? Microsoft 365, you purchase a license and it can be used on each device! It’s 100 / year and it’s clear as day for a license that can be used on iPad iPhone and a Mac. Nothing about it is a secret. This company is false advertisement all day deceiving you to think it is a one time subscription fee without informing you there is a subscription fee for each device used so at the end of the day you pay what 300/year for a pdf editor? Got my laugh for the day when these are free all over the place.

Long time user upgrading from version 6. I’m a long time user who purchased the full app capabilities along time ago and i use this app on a daily basis & i wouldn't know what to do without it, i held on upgrading to the new version for a while until things settled down because i use this app for my studying and i cannot afford any mistakes. Version 7 is great Upgrading is alone worth it just for the dark mode Editing tools have changed in position which was annoying the first few days but you get used to it and its fine now, i can’t tell what else is new and if you’re thinking that you’ll miss new things if you stay on ver.6, you’re not missing anything major other than a facelift for the app itself. There is a bit of delay when switching to another app and going back -the pdf is blurry for a couple of seconds- which i hope is a bug As for pdf editing if you purchased the capability before i can confirm that its still in the app without a subscription I don’t know if the subscription strategy will work but honestly i liked buying a new version every couple of years and i was fine with that, but i wouldn't pay 50$/yr, but if there was a cheaper tip jar or lower priced level, i will in-fact purchase the full version if it becomes available on the store

Needs a little tweeking. I normally would give it 5 star but since IOS updated to 11, i have noticed it frequently freezes and crashes when importing files from another app. Forces you to kill the app more than once because of how it freezes before a crash. Sometimes when you reopen it, the file you were importing is still there and sometimes you have to go find it. It is integrated with multiple cloud accounts and works with safari as well as other file manager apps. I was lucky to have first downloaded it on a promo day when it was free and i have used it ever since. I strongly recommend for Ipad users. It actually offers more than adobe does and (for me it is free) but for those who purchase the app i assume the features would also be free. Also works very well on the iphone. Must have for PDFs hands down. This is my go to.

Moving password feature to Pro is very disappointing. EDIT: Thank you to Readdle for responding to my review with information. HIGHLY APPRECIATED. They are correct in that to access the password protect file feature, even in the non-Pro version, you would do so from within the individual file rather than from the file navigation view as I had assumed would be consistent. I missed this. To comment on the non-Pro version of the app overall, I think it’s fantastic, believe it will easily handle day to day PDF needs of most users, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. Updated review from 1 stars >> 5 stars. ORIGINAL: The app was able to password protect files previously. After a recent update, it became a Pro feature, apparently. Taking a previously included feature and moving it behind an additional paywall is incredibly disappointing to say the least. The review is not for features included, but for practices of the company. Password protecting is not a “Pro” feature. It should remain a standard feature as our digital information is increasingly at risk. Pretty shameful stance.

Performance dip. I am giving the three-star rating based on past experience as well as present. If I were only rating this on the last few months, it would be a 1-star review. This has been one of the most indispensable apps for me, as a teacher who uses an iPad pro to teach from. The efficiency with which I was able to store, organize, and edit documents was beyond comparison. Lately, however, there have been major slow-down issues and often I find myself staring at all of my documents stored on the cloud, unable to download them. I have wasted 30-plus minutes trying in futility to pull up a file I needed on the cloud without success. Incredibly frustrating. More recently, even trying to transfer a file from an app like notability to this one has caused PDF expert to just close without actually receiving the file. I hope they fix these issues because it would be a pain to find a new app to use.

Reopening, and two identical pages in separate windows. Thanks for providing this great app, probably the best free option on iOS. Yet from my point of view there’s are two major problems which are annoying. First, sometimes, recently most of the times the app reopens Every single time when I switch between apps, for example, whenever I’m reading something I frequently use my dictionary app so I have to switch apps a lot, and when the pdf app restarts and some times with a distorted page setup then it’s irritating. The second problem is that, when I want to open two distinct pages from the same pdf file, say, in one window I want to open chapter 1 and in the other window I like to open notes section of the book, but when I do this the other window shows exactly the same page, for example both windows show chapter one.

This is a great app. I use this app for my lectures in vet school (which move extremely quickly, as you could imagine). The only drawbacks I have had involve the overall flexibility in functionality. I would, for example, like to be able to make certain parts of the text box bold, italicized, different font sizes, for emphasis of certain topics. This is only available in the sticky notes part. I would also find it useful to be able to have a blank sheet on one side, as one would use for Cornell notes. My lecture slides do not always have a lot of free room - I understand this is not the fault of the app, just a suggestion for people with PDFs that are a bit crowded, but would still like annotations side-by-side, or overhanging on the side, to be able keep everything in view as much as possible. Otherwise, this is the ONLY app I use for my slides as I am the most satisfied with its functions and general ease of use.

STILL DOESN’T WORK on iPhone 13 Pro. I feel awful that I finally had to lower my review to one star after submitting numerous reviews over the last six months that I still kept within the 3 to 4 star range because I was hoping they would work out whatever bugs were causing the problem and the issue would be resolved. I’ve been using Readdle’s products (Calendars 5, PDF Converter, etc) for a very long time and like them as a company. However, the last six months I have not been able to get PDF expert to open on my iPhone 13 Pro, despite installing numerous updates for the app. Every time it just opens to the white start-up screen with the logo on it, but never continues on to the main home page like it used to (my phone’s iOS is updated to the newest version). I’ve even tried deleting and reinstalling the app a few times, yet the problem persists. I’ve left a number of reviews about this issue, but it has never been resolved and I would like a clear answer as to why it is no longer working after all of this time. Thank you, Carver

They expect you to pay 50 dollars A YEAR.. Are you kidding me? I’m going to sink hundreds of dollars into this? No way. One time would be bad enough but that adds up quick to hundreds of dollars, and when you inevitably cancel what are you left with... nothing. This subscription model trash has gotten completely out of hand and is completely unacceptable in my opinion. Either charge a big one time fee up front or just admit you’re a bunch of con artists on the tin. Because that’s all this subscription crap is, an extortionist con job if you ask me. I don’t like it. It just gets under my skin and reeks and stinks of the worst kind of greedy nonsense, it’s my pet peeve and it’s why I left Photoshop. If it was a good deal that would be one thing but dude it’s a PDF editor. I paid 40 bucks for 3 top notch Affinity apps in one go. I would be using much more colorful language about this “subscription pricing model” newspeak (imagine an expletive or several of your choosing) but I guess I can’t do that. Just fill in the blanks. Don’t listen to their customer service crap, absolutely nobody likes this behavior. It’s not an issue, it’s greedy corporate money grubbing, keep your money out of their hands.

Get it. I’m frugal when it comes to buying apps. Ok, I’m a cheapskate. Why should I pay for a pdf editor with so many free ones out there? Well, if all you do is open and email pdfs’s then you don’t need this app. If you do more than that, anything more, then this is well worth it. This apps features are already listed so I won’t repeat them. I didn’t see the page combining and removal feature listed which is exactly what I needed. This app has that. So for that alone I bought it. I do historical research and use a lot of PDFs. This apps organizational abilities for not just combining pages but copying, pasting, removing or adding photos and text is outstanding. Of course it has the features like the other editors have but none of the others have all the features this app has. It’s intuitiveness is excellent. It makes what I do so much better and easier that I’m honestly happy I paid for it. And that’s coming from a Scrooge😳

Lost Files and Poor Pencil Support in an App I Used to Love. I used to love this app—and have for years, but lately I’ve been let down by it again and again. First and foremost, I had half of my files in the iCloud folder disappear on me. I couldn’t find them anywhere—then discovered that on a random Sunday when I never interacted with my device they were deleted. Luckily, I found them within the iCloud recovery window and could restore these files. THEN - I started using my Apple Pencil and have been driven mad by the awful palm rejection, slow response times, and marks that just don’t appear. It’s hard to write a single sentence on a PDF without missing a letter or a line. None of these problems are evident in the Apple Notes App—where the Pencil works perfectly. I’m going to look for another App for notation but I’m just disappointed that PDF Expert has let me down so much.

Great for Annotating and Highlighting. For the past year, I've been using the free version of PDF Expert to annotate PDF documents at work, and I must say that it has proven itself to be reliable and trustworthy in terms of its build quality. Writing digitally is the same as writing on a piece of paper, which is good by me. Although I have not tried out the premium features (as I have no need for them), the free version is great, which shows me that their premium feature should just as good, if not better. Lastly, I definitely like the fact that PDF Expert syncs seamlessly with iCloud, Dropbox and OneDrive, without me having to create a copy of the file on the iPad separately, make edits, then save the edited copy back to the respective cloud source. Again, it's proven itself to be quite reliable, and should be something to consider if you regularly annotate PDFs either personally or professionally.

Great App. Update: this’s still today the best PDF app you’ll find in the market. They update ir continuously and it works flawlessly. I’ve bee a user for a decade now and I’m still impressed at the quality of the app and seriousness of the developers. Now, you can even present with this app if you happen to be a student. I even use it every day in my daily work and have ZERO complaints. They offer a paid subscription and you can also buy it as a one time purchase. I thank them for giving that opportunity to its customers. I’m even willing to pay for some updates if it must be the case since you don’t live for nothing. Thanks, Readle. The last update for 2019 is great in most of its features. I use this app to read and annotate PDFs, there’s no other app out there that can complete with PDF Expert. I use it literally every day. The reason I didn’t give 5 stars is bc I have to keep hitting the highlighting button multiple times if I want to use a different color to highlight something important, which didn’t happen before the update. However, I still recommend this app for everyone who enjoys reading and annotating PDFs. It’s still an excellent App, and I know they will fix this problem. Thanks, Readdle.

Almost perfect!. This app has been vital to my routine as a graduate student for the last year and a half. It serves me well overall, especially the ability to easily sync my bookmarks, outlines, and annotations across devices (iPad and MacBook). Two issues that have come up for me: (1) It would be great if the iPad version had a sort of “zoom lock,” so that I could more easily rest my palm on the screen while making annotations with Apple Pencil. The app can be a bit hypersensitive to the palm, so that when I go to make an annotation, the page zooms or scrolls, and I have to readjust the page before writing. Sometimes this happens multiple times before I am able to make a single annotation. It would be easily fixed if I could lock the zoom at “page width” or similar. (2) If I make a bunch of annotations on my iPad, then immediately go to rename the document, the annotations are lost. I’ve learned not to do that. I simply have to back out of the document, i.e. return to the folder where it is located, and allow my changes to sync. Then I can safely rename the document. But this process is not intuitive, and it has cost me some important annotations in the past.

Great App, Hope the “scroll to top” could be disabled. I have great experience in reading books and papers with this app. It is the best PDF app I have used on both tablet and Mac. Except for the “scroll to top” option. I wonder who actually need that function ever? Like using the slide bar isn’t easy and fast enough, they need to click on the top area to get to the beginning of document instantly. I couldn’t imagine a single realistic scenario this could be useful. Instead, once in a while, I accidentally touched the top area and goes to the cover of my book. Then I need to find the page I was reading and reconnect. It feels more like a bug rather than a feature. I know this is an “feature” that from Apple. But it doesn’t look like they have any intention of fixing this. So this really becomes an annoying thing when I enjoy reading with PDFExpert. I will be very appreciated if there could be anyway to fix this from the app’s side.

Great App. This is one of the best apps I have had the pleasure of using. I am using it on my ipad air Gen 4. I am getting personal use out of it for language learning. I have the pdf in here and take all kinds of notes about pronunciation and things. I also use this for work. I have all kinds of engineering documents I need to read and edit. I like doing my drawing and editing by hand at first, and this app is great for that. I used to print out documents and draw on them, and this has that feel without wasting and carrying around a bunch of paper. I also love the fun colors and stickers you can use. I use them to the max. I pretty much put the avocado sticker on every page. It makes me feel like a kid who is having fun when I am doing an otherwise tedious task.

Does what you want it to do. I use this app every day on an iPad Pro with an Apple Pencil to mark up, grade, and return online homework submissions that students submit either as PDF or phone camera photos of handwritten work. Exceedingly helpful for adding comments to first drafts of papers (including in type of students can’t read my handwriting) and theses. I also use it in committee meetings almost daily to refer to and add comments to documents as they are being discussed. It is also a great app for adding doodles during the boring parts :) In my opinion, the only things missing are (1) the ability to add an extra blank page when you need to create a summary page of notes and (2) the ability to take a snapshot of a section that includes drawings / images/ equations for pasting into another app (such as an email).

Don’t Update to Version 7!. If you have version 6 beware, the version 7 upgrades are minimal but what you lose in simplicity for your daily annotations and edits is significant: Annotations: In version 7, you lose most of your color presets for highlights/underlines/drawing (you only get to keep 5 color presets in version 7, while in version 6 you had about 15 color presets). In version 7 you’ll have to open a color wheel button to manually select a color every time you want to use something other than those 5 colors (this takes 3-4 clicks every time you want a new color, which quickly becomes frustrating if you use the app for what it was designed for: significant PDF annotating). Or, you can pay $45 per year if you want to “favorite” certain tools for quicker access in version 7. Edits: In version 6, you could buy PDF editing for a one-time $10 fee, but in version 7 you will have to shell out $45 recurring per year to get PDF editing (unless you were smart enough to buy it in version 6, in which case it comes with you to version 7). It’s not all bad, version 7 makes it a bit easier to use the search and bookmark/outline features. However, I have found the “outline” feature to be a bit buggy in version 7 when adding new chapters to the overall outline. It seems to insert them in strange spots, rather than keeping the outline automatically organized by page number as version 6 did.

Works well for the limited number of things I do with pdfs.. Don’t do much editing. Do lots of annotating and Pdf Expert is solid with enough options to make it adaptable to most every document. I suspect if I did I might find PDF Expert app a pretty good note-taking tool. What I really enjoy is the overall reading and annotating experience. The Readdle file management is probably my favorite so far as well (meaning I like it better than Adobe Reader if your looking for comparisons). The Readdle apps seem to do a good job (better than others at least) of having options available in the “Share” menu(s)... Okay, been using PDF Expert non-$80/year subscription extortion mode for a few years now. Here is a fact: the search function within the app file/folder system has not worked for years. So you can't search even the document titles within a single folder. All you every see is a blank white screen with a rotating circle of spokes. I've adapted and rely on careful naming of folders. The search within a single open pdf doc is fine. Anyway, this sort of $80/yr for a pdf editor/reader nonsense/greed is going to kill this golden goose ... the sooner the better.

Indispensable App & Superior Customer Service!. For over 6 years I’ve been using this app & it has been a fantastic experience. There was a learning curve in the beginning but after that I’ve had nothing but positive experiences. Originally I bought PDF Expert to study & archive periodicals but it has become an integral part of my iPad life: keeping all of my scanned bits of paper & recipes organized, filling out online forms, even doing creative projects. And talk about customer service! If only all companies had their finesse! I’ve had to contact them 3 or 4 times with questions & not only do they write back promptly but the tone of the response is thoughtful & friendly. And I don’t know if it was just a coincidence but early on there was only a deep purple highlighter so dark to be almost unusable so I submitted a request for lilac. On the next update lilac was there! Now, of course, there are plenty of color options. Another time I wrote them because I couldn’t figure out how to do something & they wrote me back as if they had nothing better to do than help me. So impressed. With every update PDF Expert only gets better. Bravo to the Readdle team! Congratulations on many excellent products backed by a superior customer experience! Keep up the good work!

Upselling. I have used this program for years and own it for both my computer and my iPad. They came out with a professional version and now all the functions that I had in the ones that I bought are gone. I know that I had them because I used one of them every day to redact information on PDFs. I sent information into the company saying that after the professional version came out I lost the ability to do redactions. The function still works on the computer version that I bought but not on the iOS version to get that I must upgrade to the new professional version. If you buy this program be aware you may be required to upgrade to get features that you use every day. I sent him proof of purchase and they still don’t have an answer for me they keep telling me that there is a version for iOS and there’s a version for windows operating systems. I Purchased for both and I know that already my only question is why didn’t the way up teacher that I already owned.

Excellent. Have been using this to take notes and highlight text for uni studies. Very impressed with ability to recognise text and highlight without overlaying on text using the stylus. Very nice looking layout and I like the ability to switch between grid and list layout (I much prefer list layout).

With a little more it could be a LOT better. Apart from crashing several times in the past 24 hours since I bought this, I really don’t think this app is adequate for a professional file-system for reading, annotating, and filing PDF files and books. It is, overall, difficult to locate files to begin with, hard to move an original copy without making a second “copy”, and extremely limited in the options it gives you for storing, moving, and accessing files generally. Right now I’m writing this review because I can’t even open my app to get back into it! With something this unreliable I fail to see how it could be considered a professional working tool. Really not impressed by this over-hyped app.

Best in market with room for improvement. Overall very good with most comprehensive features that support my requirements for work and University. The developers are clearly top notch. The biggest pitfall for me is the cloud connection and inconsistency when editing and saving documents and specifically new notes into Google drive. Sometimes it won’t save any work and everything is lost. Doesn’t happen often but when it does it can be discouraging.

Need Help!. I buy the app few months ago, and I could edict my PDF by the app until I updated it yesterday, because I found my note was lost(yes, my note wire by apple pencil loss, I think it may since I need to update, so I did). But now, it doesn’t work, I mean My lost note still lost, and even worse that I cannot edit my PDF on the app, unless I buy the edition function???????? Please solve the problem, thanks.

It’s the best I ever came across. I am amazed how well the app handling a big pdf file. I quite often require to do markup on drawings file that over 100mb and it doesn’t miss a beat so far. The interface is intuitive. The only improvement that I can think of is that I am not able to return to the PDF interface after trying to open a new pdf if I didn’t ended up opening a new pdf.

Great App. Very good app overall. Have used it for over a year now. My only suggestion would be that I want to be able highlight while in readability mode, rather than having to exit out highlight what I want then switch back. But as I said this is a good PDF editor.

Happy customer. A long time user, I don’t know what would I do without it as my reliance keeps expending. However what I most satisfied with is their support, over the years they were very responsive and helpful, most recently when I reported an issue with the iOS 15 rollout, it took only a couple of days to roll out an updated fixed version. Than you.

Perfection!. I’ve been using PDF Expert for years and it’s not only been a joy to use day-to-day, but the team have constantly been improving it with both large and small updates. The integration with various cloud platforms and the ease of editing documents have made a big difference to my productivity. Can’t recommend highly enough!

too many ads, occasionally flakey. Largely this is a good app, especially for stylus input for highlighting, and it is able to use that to get ‘summaries’ (i.e. the highlights). But unfortunately occasionally it will just keep reverting changes, the language used for describing features and the UI generally is not intuitive (albeit functional) and overall it mostly gets the job done. That said, I’m not convinced this is a viable alternative to documents being printed for study for example. You can read the doc, you can highlight bits, you sorta can scribble on there for notes, but it remains cumbersome. That’s not just the App, but the setup overall, but the UI issues are definitely not helping. Overall it seems to be one of the better alternatives, but less ads in a paid for product would be nice, although … yeah … wouldn’t check out those new features you try to get me to pay more money for.

The best. Hands down the best pdf app on the iPad. Well thought-out interface, can access iCloud files without importing, search function with context… wonderful! My single small complaint is that pencil input feels janky compared to goodnotes, somehow not as smooth or accurate. Love this app though.

Owner Greed Changes to Paid Subscription.. Typical. Get really popular. Create dependence in customers. Then drop the subscription model! Greed won over loyalty. Then justify with “let’s us build new features”. Common excuse. Your yearly fee is more then Entire Microsoft Office 365. No longer recommended. PREVIOUS REVIEW FOR V6: Read thousands of pages through PDF Expert. Made thousands of lines of annotations, highlights, and Apple Pencil diagrams throughout the pages. Also use PDF expert every day in class to present the material on Projector (via Screen Mirroring) to class. We downloaded every popular PDF editor/reader in store through the years. Including new GoodReader 5. Without question, PDF Expert is light years ahead no matter how many copy-cats arrive in hopes to grab share of profits. PDF Expert makes sense in every way for the brain, and makes learning a joy from PDF texts.

Long-time user, less impressed now than when I bought it. I bought this app when it was a one-time purchase. Since then I can think of at least one feature that’s been removed altogether and some features have been switched to in-app purchase. The latest update has altered the annotation tools significantly enough that I’ve had a look at the competition and am considering making a switch. Please, rather than update an existing app with changes that alter peoples workflow, just release a new version. I’d appreciate the option to remain with the app I paid for and was familiar with.

Great app but.... I use the App in my business for a lot of service techs in the field. It generally works well. It would be great if it had options to hide certain menu options and editing. Keeping it clean and simple and have the ability to switch off some options would be great!

Slow Lately!. Great for students who want to manage textbooks and many documents. Works well with the Mac app too. Great support and rarely any bugs UPDATE: Lately it’s just been slow, buggy, and crashes occasionally. Don’t know what happened, but I now start to detest using the app. Would just use Files app if I could but this app has just a bit better markup and viewing

Too much about the profit rather than the customer experience. This is a great work tool, but to be able to move from one Mac device to another like a MacBook to an iPad and be able to scribe on the iPad PDF and then hand off to the MacBook again, you need to pay for the MacBook version PLUS an annual subscription to the iPads/iPhone version of PDF Expert too. When I queried this with the developers after purchasing the MacBook version their attitude was like it or lump it. Really really expensive way to manage your pdf’s from one device to another. Great idea, bad implementation. It seems the developers are profit focused rather than customer centric. Look elsewhere for a solution. I am going to.

BUYERS BEWARE OF ATTEMPTED SCAM ON SIGN-UP. Please everyone, read the whole comment: apologies for length. I have used PDF Expert for years - hands down the best PDF editor available. I paid for it before it was made free, so, usual story: somebody who paid for a program then had to put up with severely limited functionality because READDLE had discovered it could gouge more money from users by creating a two-tier free/premium structure. All the best features have for several years only been available to subscribers. The new free version is more basic. All that’s bad enough. However, earlier this year, PDF Expert (it’s on my iPad) stopped communicating with my DropBox account. I don’t know why. Anyway, I reinstalled, and have just tried to sign in again. Here’s the warning: there is a deliberate and deceptive attempt to fool you into signing on to the Premium version with a 1-week trial that automatically then flips you over to the extortionately priced subscription. I had to uninstall and reinstall twice before I realised what was going on. Make sure not to click continue at the point the Premium version appears on the screen. Instead, click the option that comes up to restore previous version. I’m sure the nice people will now say how sorry they are that I had this experience. However, this is a deliberate attempt at bait-and-switch. It’s an attempted con by professional scammers…sorry, innocent and well-intentioned online business.

Great app but could offer some better options. This app is nearly perfect but has crashed on my iPad a few times lately during PDF annotations (possibly iOS update compatibility issues) and restarting the app didn’t work requiring an iPad restart. Offering a greater number of colour options like a slide bar or colour wheel rather than just a set number of colour options would also be good. Keep up the good work.

Really good but needs a couple more features. PDF Expert is a really well thought out app, but for my needs (marking up design drawings in the field) it really needs a couple of extra features. The option of a landscape mode for viewing PDFs would make a lot of sense for landscape drawings. An option to rotate text boxes (arbitrary angle would be ideal but cardinal angles would be better than nothing) is very important too.

Fallen from grace. For as long as I have been using PDF Expert the app had Dropbox for Business integration issues. Periodically the team would push out an update that seems to fix the problem but soon after the same issue resurfaces. The app has become unusable for me at work and I regret having purchased the annual premium membership. I’m switching to another PDF editor. If you don’t have the Dropbox issue you might not have the issue either with the Premium. In that case you will most likely enjoy using this app. I have written previously to the developer about this issue but only got lacklustre support responses. So, it’s time to let the public know.

Great in Full Screen - so so in Split View. This app has been great as it does what it says on the tin. Good feature set for annotating, reading and storing PDFs. I have no need for the paid features, but if I did I’d snap them up. I find the free features wonderful. My only gripe is that once Split View is established you lose the ability to view tabs. I find it very frustrating that unless you have a 3/4 Split View, you cannot quickly switch between open PDFs. I’ve mentioned it to them and they’ve thanked me for the feedback, but yeah, 5 stars if this was there.

PDF Expert App on IPAD. An exam paper was sent via email to my IPAD with spaces for answers to be added. Each time I emailed the completed exam only half the answers appeared, the remaining answers were removed during the email process. Finally I found the app “PDF Expert” and with help from an IT support person my exam was converted to a format that the receiver could read with All my answers in tact. I’m still trying to navigate around this App but the conversion took about 10mins to navigate and send my exam. Whereas the earlier email boomerangs to check if the answers were there had consumed 3hrs of my New Years Eve afternoon. Was so relieved to find this app.

Latest update has some bugs with saving to Files and cloud. Use PDF expert all the time on iPhone and iPad. Find it a very powerful editor, especially with page level edits and editing to all aspects of existing PDFs. I also use a bunch of other Readdle apps, big fan of their apps in general. That said the recent updates haven’t improved things. App is now not saving to my Files app, or to Cloud based storage for some reason. Also the Export function now asks me to subscribe to PDF Pro for $78 a year, very annoying to receive ads in a paid version of the app. Exporting to PDF should be part of the core functionality of the app anyway, and is a task that can be performed natively by all Apple products so is a bit of a waste of time trying to charge for it.

Fantastic. Does everything well. JavaScript support makes a huge difference, though a few extra options here would make a world of difference. Can’t fault the PDF side, though the ability to add a PNG to the saved signature would be far better than signing with my finger (though that option is brilliant on the run). Also when using JavaScript to lock a form and email itself, the file grows massively... 98kb to 2mb... something seriously odd here!

Text in comments too small. I wrote to the developers about this in December 2019. The text in comments is about 5 pt in size. It is almost impossible to use comments on the iPad. I just downloaded the latest version and the problem is still there. Pinching out does NOT work on the comments text. Has the developer tried this? It is blatantly obvious it needs fixing. The use of this app in a work environment is greatly limited when collaborating with others. I sincerely hope the developers fix this ASAP.

Nuance and Peace go hand in hand #SlavaUkraine. While I deeply sympathise with the people of Ukraine who are facing unimaginable atrocities, human rights abuses and hardships at the hands of the Russian government and military; it is wrong to hold the average Russian citizens collectively responsible. It is wrong to punish them and deprive them of very good software just because of their nationality. Please stand with the brave Russian citizens who are being arrested and beaten by the police in Moscow & St Petersburg for protesting the despicable actions of their government. Punish the Russian government, not the Russian people.

Really flexible and powerful. I use this to manage a pretty extensive PDF library. I’d love it if they had a paid tier below the full subscription though — I don’t need the extra subscription features, but I’d like to pay *something*.

Still the best app I’ve ever used. I’ve been using PDFExpert for many years and it’s just wonderful. The integration with google, Dropbox, and OneDrive is brilliant, the markup tools are very powerful, and it is able to keep all my PDFs in perfect order. The development is always ongoing, and results in improvements both big and small. The company is incredibly responsive, and any time I’ve encountered a problem (usually pretty minor) they come back to me within a day to ensure they understand the issue, and then resolve it pretty fast.

Complete Rip Off Subscription. I paid for this app and other Readdle Apps. It appears that greed has now completely taken over this company. Having paid for this app and now asking for a $78 per year subscription for functionality that should be a reward for loyal customers who paid for these apps in one off charges before is just wrong. Makes me wonder when the other Readdle paid apps will start with these tricks too like Scanner Pro, etc. I think this is absolutely shameful behaviour ripping off long time loyal customers. Don’t worry though, most of what I need like converting web pages to PDF etc is natively possible within Apple Apps and shortcuts, so I don’t need this anyway..bye bye Readdle.

Forced into it. We’ll worth it.. With PDF Converter biting the dust I pondered, after all I am retired. Why do I want all that stuff? That’s still true but the features are all worth it and I don’t mind paying for quality, after all I basically had a free ride with Converter for years. Why not 5? Because I can’t wade through using all the features 😄.

The auto-save is a FAIL. I lost 2 assignments after working an hour on one document and 2 hours on another. When attempting to save the document to PDF format after editing the document (400 word answers to 15 questions), all of the text I had written vanished as soon as I hit “save”.. with the exception of the first line that I wrote in each question. UNDO did nothing, none of my information was recovered. I purchased the Pro subscription; for this I would have expected a decent product at $16 per month considering my accounting app is half this. It’s not worth it. This is an unreliable app for anything serious; study or business. If you need it as a quick read PDF app or a PDF converter alone; there’s your 1 Star each. Not worth the subscription; the tech support asked me to recreate the situation and record it (I don’t have another 3 hours to waste, thanks)

Great App for Work. With the recent update, the app has become unusable. I use this daily for work and while typing into a pdf tillable form, it keeps refreshing or reloading every few seconds, sending me out of the fillable box and not filling what I have typed. I constantly have to restart my sentence only for the form to refresh again and restart the process. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app a number of times but it has not resolved the problem. In addition, I have a premium subscription and even though I select the restore button under settings, my premium features are not restored. I now only have 4 out of the seven menu items I had previously. I hope you fix this fast or I will have to find another program since I cannot reliably use it in the current state. I have been using this program and other readdress apps for about 4 years and have loved the apps up till this moment.

Biggest Problem is Syncing. Firstly you will be hard pressed find a app that does the same for the price (not the subscribe price) Pay for the extra features but DO NOT subscribe, if you want to shrink PDF’s use PDF Genius Lite. I use this with One Drive, and File Browser Biz, BOTH of these apps can sync in the background, though File Browser Biz uses a manual sync method, plus has some other handy feature in bulk renaming files. It is beyond me why PDF Expert cannot sync in the background, and even when it isn’t in the background you seem to wait forever to see the files....that are already in the other 2 apps. I have been using this app for many many many years and i would be lost without it but it is frustrating to see the “orange exclamation marks” or for it to lose sync with One Drive. It definitely at times has a problem with folders with a lot of files (many GB) in it. If only it synced like One Drive.

Readdle has crossed the fine line between practicality and greed.. For anyone who did not get the in app purchase from PDF Expert 6, this app is completely out of line in how much they charge, $79 per year! And what do you get for $79 each year? -The ability to select and use more than one pencil type, which is a basic feature in almost any annotating app. If you wish to select between two pen colours, it is 2 or more clicks away. -File conversion to PDF - Basic stuff here, but $79? -PDF size reduction - only unique offering? -Editing PDF text - was previously a one off $15 purchase but very costly now it is in subscription mode. I like how they are making changes and updates to the app, just this cost model is the way to see their business collapse. Having paid $15 I can’t believe I only get to choose one pen option at any time. Ridiculous, and that’s why it only gets 1 star despite me thinking it would be 3.5 or 4 prior to this update.

Best PDF app ever. Readdle make great stuff, and this app just keeps getting better. I’ve been a user for years and I just experienced the PDF Reader function when opening a A4 print formatted PDF. It made reading it on my phone so easy! Thank you Readdle 🥰

App keeps crashing. I purchased this app a few months back and all I have had is problems. I have contacted the support 4 or more times to help problem solve. At no point could they help me. All suggestions from them I did and the app continues to crash midway working on a document or immediately after opening the app. I am continually told they will escalate the issue to their engineers or tech team, to which I get no resolve or response. This app is not worth the money they charge. Also support is only offer via email, which is not best practice. Avoid this app at all costs!

The free version is great! Everything I need.... I’m a teacher and I only use the free version of this software, but that is all I need. It does everything flawlessly for marking student work when it is submitted as a PDF, which my school’s content management system handles well. This is such a valuable tool for me in this age of electronic submission and marking!

Great app. Thanks to all of the developers who work on making this one of the greatest apps you can have. This is the best app to allow organising documents and doing reports. I use this app everyday. The updates just keep making the app better.

Great app that keeps improving. This is one of the best PDF apps available. I give credit to the developer for not resting on his laurels by continuing to add features. I would like to see expanded drawing tools and the ability to embed photos directly into files selected by clicking on an icon.

Great PDF Editing App. Great app for editing documents daily. Multifunctional and serves its purpose. It would be great to have a edit function of text boxes with an arrow already. Rather than having to apply a text box and then draw an arrow from text to what you’re trying to identify.

Absolutely love all your products but..... I have purchased most of the productivity apps from Readdle. PDF pro, PDF converter, Calendars, Printer Pro etc. They are simple, yet powerful. They have truly transformed my ability work on my iPad Pro. But... I cant justify a monthly subscription fee for your latest add ons. Sorry. I think a one off payment is more reasonable. If sometime in the future you feel your product has advanced so much that you need to charge again, re-release an updated version and charge for that. Again, huge fan, but subscription based pricing for software is something that does not sit well with me - perhaps I am getting older and think back to the glory days of one off payments....

I like the app, BUT..... I have purchased PDF Expert on iOS and MAC, and I do like the functionality, when they don’t take it away and make you purchase something else. Readdle, care to explain how I used to be able to convert to PDF inside the app but now have to purchase a separate converter? Using updates to remove functionalities is underhanded and conniving. Please enlighten me when that happened, and was it reported to customers that the update would do It?

Disappointed. I've been using this app for at least 8 years on iPad and a few years ago on my Mac, and have been very pleased with it. I’ve recommended it to many people over the years including my work. Most updates are ok, and I've had to pay to upgrade twice. However removing key features such as PDF conversion and then being asked to upgrade to a more expensive subscription is outrageous! I don't want to support a company that is no longer consistent with reliable product performance and support. Sadly after all these years I've started looking elsewhere.

Latest version crash a lot for new and old IPAD PRO. I was happy with the product for a while. However, recent ISO upgrade and PDF expert updates i found that PDF expert crashing a lot. Not sure what is the root cause. Bit disappointed by this issue. Any notes are added to file also disappeared. Although it is great app for taking notes and marking PDF file, i urge developer to perform further testing and fix the crashing issues. Thanks Ahmed

So much better than Adobe. This is an absolutely wonderful product. So convenient, – user friendly for annotations, searching bookmarks, outlines an overall ability to deal with large documents.

Cannot connect OneDrive! And flash and quit automatically. I have been using this for a long time but recently it cannot open my OneDrive files and always saying I have no internet connect even it was actually all fine. I reinstalled the app and as soon as I reconnected my OneDrive account it started flashing out! Every time when I opened, it just quit!!! Please fix this! I have no idea what happened

Could be a perfect PDF viewer. I have been using this app for reading and annotating on PDF files. It’s almost perfect except for lacking of a proper page crop function. Currently there is one function BUT it is fully automated and only applies to text PDF books. When I tried to crop the margin of PDF books made from scanned pictures, there is always a notification that page crop is not available. Other readers as well as PDF expert Mac version could let people manually set page size and choose how much margins need to be cut from page and it doesn’t seem to be a real difficult function. Please consider adding this one in the future update. Thank you

Still one more feature to make it a perfect app. This app is so versatile! I have used it across different jobs in different sectors! Absolutely brilliant! It is missing on feature... create your own tillable PDF form. I would be willing to pay additional money for that feature!

Recommended. I’ve been holding off on recommending this PDF Expert as I was annoyed by its inability to properly access icloud storage. This has now been addressed. I find the package well laid out and easy to use with a short learning time. I particularly like the ability to record and store signatures which allows speedy dealing with large numbers of documents and forms that need filling in. The editing functions are comprehensive and easier to use than other packages that I have used in the past like GoodReader and Notetaker HD. I’ve found that, to be effective, I need to use the app in conjunction with PDF Converter (by the same company) to ensure compatibility of files. It would make sense to me to incorporate the pdf conversion function into PDF Expert rather than making it a two app/two step process.

iOS. The iOS is just nonsense. I have to save the edited PDF to Adobe’s own folder first. Then I have to copy that edited PDF to the folder I wish on the iPad. Then I have to delete the original edited PDF from Adobe’s own folder, as otherwise I have two copies of the PDF, why would I want that? But then I can’t just delete the PDF from where Adobe saved it on the iPad, I have to open Adobe to delete it. Talk about making something complicated for no reason. The only reason I gave this 2 stars, as opposed to 1, is because this allows adding text for free, which is better than Adobe’s other app (Reader I think it’s called) which needs a paid subscription.

My ten cents worth! ........ I really like the quality and friendliness of this developers software (I have a few others) and would like to purchase this one. I am a home user, not a business so it is for the convenience, not the productivity that I would like to have this program. So what is holding me back? It is the yearly subscription that makes it a no for me, even for a $150 one off payment I would buy this. As a non-business though, paying a hefty price each and every year is just too much and I think; unreasonable at that!

Con!!!!. I purchased PDF Editor a while ago and a was able to redact text and edit text. But now the pro version is out I need to purchase these features again!!!! Rip off

POS! Was the best, paid for pro now subscription only. This app is a story of GREED. A very good and stable application that did exactly what it said. I paid for the upgrade to Pro and was happy. Then GREED took over...a forced update with all new rules...it’s time to pay & pay & pay boys & girls.... just give me back what I had and leave me alone. I don’t want your forced new features, I just want what I had! You know, before you thought it was a great idea to RIPOFF your customers! I’d rather NEVER use your app than pay subscription fees. But I paid for pro now I’m left with nag screens and warnings about a subscription requirements. Should be renamed “but Adobe does it PDF” because it’s no longer a “real” app, just a money grabbing mining app. These are all just my personal opinions! (You might love spending $$$ every month for an app you might use once a month on average) find a paid version from someone else save yourself a ton of money!

GoodNotes is way better. Too expensive for the options that are given. Lags all the time. Not great and not fluid. I’m running back to GoodNotes.

I have paid already. ACTUAL APP DESCRIPTION : “Readdle may at any time for any reason and without any warnings take away what you've bought and ask you to rend it :) Why? Well Readdle just doesn’t respect its costumers and can’t be trusted!” I purchased this app for school a while ago, and it worked perfectly fine and smooth for all my needs, 5/5 stars for sure. But now its asking me to pay *again* to use some of the features I have already bought? Imagine if you bought a dresser and after a year the company just came back took away the drawers and told you to pay 13.99 a month to use them??? This is not fair, and I can’t believe you're legally allowed to do this. Apps like these with hidden paid subscriptions don’t trick people into buying more, it just makes us lose our time and look for other options. Honestly I dont mind buying/subscribing to apps, but you can be sure I won’t give a cent to devs like this. How can I be sure that next month there wont be a new update saying I can only save documents if I have a new more expensive subscription? Hey, at least the flow of negative reviews will serve to warn anyone who’s considering buying pdf expert.

rip off. I bought the “expert” version and now have to pay a subscription to do what was possible earlier? Talk about bait and switch!

Il faut maintenant payer un prix abusif!. L’application fonctionne bien.

Free App selling for 13.99. I though I am buying a full App for 13.99. Turns out you are buying a basic app, and you have to buy other features for more money. I did not expect this kind of CON from this company. I don’t mind buying for 13.99 if it has value of it. Zero dollar value in this app.

Always crashes and a con!. This used to be a great app but now I have two major issues: 1) I purchased this in 2018 for £10 and had access to all features and now they've added a subscription service and removed the features that I had already paid for. Now to access these features I have to pay again?! Such a con. 2) The app now wont even open and crashes immediately...I can no longer access any of my files/work. (The app is up to date as is my ipad) I have essentially been robbed of £10, try a different app and steer clear of this one.

Disappointed. I bought the version 6 of this app and was disappointed when they automatically updated it without my consent to version which took away a ton of functionality. In order to regain the previous features which I had bought, they expect me to pay a monthly fee. This is a cash grab if I’ve ever seen one. I had previously bought their entire suite of apps because I was impressed with Readdle’s quality however now their integrity leaves much to be desired.

Latest update working. I had left a bad review when I had lost some of the features I had paid for but after latest update they are back. This is my favourite app and very happy they corrected the situation.

Fail. Lost functionality after forced update. Terrible treatment of long time customers. Please rethink your strategy. Of course, if you are immovable from this new position, your existing customers will go away and new customers will buy into your new model of sales. Thank you for the functionality while it lasted.

No Longer Recommend!. This used to be my favourite pdf reader/annotation/manipulation app. But now I’m looking for another and advising others to stay away because of the subscription model. Just don’t need that kind of monthly expense. Thinking I might dump my other Readdle apps too, since if one moves to subscription the others might not be far behind. So sad. I used to say Readdle was one of the best app developers out there !

Lost what I paid for. I purchased this product when around the time it was first released. At the time I purchased it, I had the ability to edit my documents. I no longer do. I contacted readdle cx support and was advised the version I purchased doesn’t include the edit function. Well, it did before they introduced a premium version of the app and went subscription based. Absolutely dishonest and I would highly recommend never purchasing/dealing with them.

Can’t sinc between devices. Would like to be able to sinc between devices

Why charging again. I purchased Pdf Expert few years ago and now for signature and some more options which were included charges me. Why should I pay again?!!!!

Rip off. I had purchased this App for my 2016 iPad Pro. Works great. Now I got a larger 2019 iPad Pro and they want you to move strictly to a subscription model ?! Give me a break! I just want to use what I previously paid for!!!!

Complete ripoff after update. Paid full price for the app before knowing that it was a powerful tool. Now they’ve “upgraded” to a subscription model so all the stuff I paid full price for gets ripped out behind the paywall. I’m not happy and I hope everyone this effects voices their opinion.

Shady update. I see that in the new update, the previous feature to have a few customized pens saved for easy access has been moved to the new favorites tab which is a subscription-only feature. I don’t appreciate using an app that loses functionality over time as a function of the developer’s greed. Stop being so ridiculous.

$$$ abonnement $$$. Toujours impossible de transformer un fichier exel ou word en pdf, mais pour 14$ de plus on peux éditer du text!?!?!?

I want the previous version (Version 6). Three major disappointments 1. Multiple pencils become a paid feature. 2. The zoom in and go back to default zoom by clicking the button is gone 3. The ribbon looks so clumsy with paid features. I paid a one-time purchase fee to use version 6, now the company delisted that in the App Store, which is a shame. I am just asking can Readdle keeps PDF expert 6 in the App Store so that old users can use it and choose if to upgrade. Now, I am forced to upgrade since I have to upgrade at some point if the only version is 7. Looks at what the company designs GoodNotes does, it released Goodnotes5, but still GoodNotes 4 is in the App Store.

Regularly Crashes.. Plan to redo your work. Have used for the last week to annotate and has crashed every day, multiple times a day. Work is lost each time. For an app of this cost, expectations are much, much higher.

Awesome. I just annotated a document for an hour and it blinked and all disappeared; no save; no undo, and it kept doing it and even though I have paid to Dec 2021 I deleted it as I am so ticked off you can’t imagine, and have used it for a few years, just horrible.

Rip off. Purchased the app and it worked great. Got a new phone and now it won’t let me do anything unless I pay a subscription. My review is a drop in the bucket, you can see all the other but eff these guys. Don’t buy/don’t subscribe. Edit: I have reached out and so far it’s been 5 days of you asking for receipts and asking me to describe the features I’ve lost(all of them). Email replies are slow and it doesn’t seem to be a priority on your guys end. Clearly you guys are aware of what you are doing with the update and asking me to subscribe to receive features I had previously paid for. Got to squeeze every last cent out of people!

Price increase and subscription model. Price went from 5 dollars for life to 100 dollars a year. No respect for initial supporters and people who bought this app 5 years ago when it was just expanding. Greedy model that keeps repeating itself.

Switcheroo. I had the ap a long time ago and paid for it. Now all of a sudden I can’t do anything unless I pay again. I literally cannot do anything on it now and will try and get my money back.

Total scam app.. This app was great when it came out originally. Then all of a sudden I need a new iPad and I can’t download the old app from the cloud. I have to buy it. Then I need a new phone, and I can’t download from the cloud, and o have to buy it for a different device. Then all of a sudden in order to reduc a file size I need a $65.99 yearly subscription? Are you kidding me? So a get the trial and it won’t even reduce file size. What a pile of steaming garbage. Get it together!!!

Another app starts subscription-scamming. Too bad.. Don't waste your money. The old bait and switch. Looking for alternatives now. They start with pay for the app... And then suddenly... Subscribe!! No thanks.

Subscription is evil!. It is very expensive app now. As an early adopter I still have most of the features but many will not be able to use this app. Subscription model is like renting, rent an app. You do not own it.

Not what I paid for!. Paid the one time fee for the upgrade to Pro only to discover that the latest version doesn’t recognize that I paid to upgrade and now they want an annual subscription. What a rip off. It’s a great app, but their pricing structure sucks!

How is this legal in any way?. Recently purchased the app and then updated. Now, I’m getting constant reminders and notifications to purchase their pro subscription for $50 a year!? Either just use their free app or use another of the literally hundred other free apps in the App Store. Do not give these crooks a dime of your money cause they’ll just end up taking it and asking for more...

Don’t Buy!!. Pop up$9.99 upgrade fee to “Pro” every time you press the “edit” button. What this app offers for the $13.99 base edition you can find for free elsewhere.

Way way too expensive; not faithful to loyal customers. Having already paid a fair amount for the app, I find it extortionate to have to now pay a ridiculous subscription fee for similar functionality to what I had before. I had four pen presets in v6 of the app. Now in v7, there is only one pen preset. One has to pay $65/yr to get access to a favourites bar to achieve the original functionality. Looking for an alternative. (Market opportunity for other developers ;))

Buy another one. Rip off. I cannot concert to pdf ( you need to pay CAD 10) and you cannot edit text ( you need an extra CAD14). Why did I pay then. On store it says it does all of that. Download Adobe Acrobat for iOS , it does everything for free. I want my money back and now. Thieves.

Greed. I paid for this app and now to be able to use all the features I have to pay again! What a rip off, pure evil and greed!

Horrible Rip Off $13.99 Did Not Unlock. Just be advised you might end up one of a select few that purchase the app for $13.99 and then it no longer unlocks the pro features and it will not restore/ remember your purchase so you end up paying for absolutely nothing. Apple states it is the developers responsibility and the developer does not respond (rather conveniently) you end up in an App Store loophole while everyone benefits but you. Very disappointed in both the app purchase result and Apple.

Sharing through Facebook messenger. Dear PDF expert, I was able to share PDFs via messenger no problem but now I am unable to, could you please troubleshoot this problem.

Scam. I purchased this before, and now I need to pay again for the same features?!

Freezes all the time!. This app used to be good, but now the app freezes all the time. This constant stuttering makes the experience unproductive and is not recommended any more. I am forced to use other PDF apps and they work pretty well, smooth and without hiccups. PDF Expert team needs to work on this.

What are you doing???. I purchased all your products many years ago and have been extremely happy with them. Now I see if I want to enjoy continued updates and improvements, I have to sign up for a subscription service of approximately $64 a year. Someone had better provide me some answers as to why a longtime member using multiple products is being sucked into paying every year?? The only two benefits of the subscription plan that would be a benefit for me would be the improvements and updates. These so-called favourite options is just gimmicky. Compression of PDF files will not save me enough space to justify the time to do it. So for me the only benefit really is the updates and for that is worth $65 a year??? Are you out of your freaking mind??? I also have a GoodReader and it does everything your program does and I do not have to pay a subscription fee to enjoy it. Could someone please explain to me why I should continue paying $65 a year when I can use the other application I paid for for free??

Company Removes Edit Feature from Purchased Version. I purchased PDF Expert some time ago so that I could edit PDF documents. I have just attempted to edit a PDF only to be treated with a ‘Try the trial version of Pro’ to edit PDFs. Excuse me?! I did purchase PDF expert that was able to edit the PDF. Why should I pay you to unlock a feature that I have already paid for? I followed your suggestion in another reply the stated to ‘select restore purchases’ only to be told no previous version purchased. How about instead of me paying you to GIVE BACK something I have already paid for, you PAY ME BACK for removing the function you removed. That, or allow me to revert to the previous version where I can edit PDFs again. You have essentially stole $ by removing a feature I, and other users paid for. What’s your solution!!!

Don’t purchase from this fraudulent company. I purchased this app a year ago with the promise of having extended features from their “free version”, like simply editing text in a pdf. Recently, they stripped us paying customers of these features and turned it into a yearly $70CAD subscription. Going to be deleting all the Readdle apps from my iPad and switching over to a legitimate company soon. Please don’t make the same mistake I did and waste your time and money.

The update is horrible. The older version was so much better. The highlighter and underlining functions are too thick and cover the texte. Very disappointed with the update. I used to love working with PDF expert and now I am looking for an alternative.

Must not have the app. This app constantly crashes while you are working. Although This app has some good features, crashing and freezing while you are working are really annoying.

AirTurn won’t turn pages anymore - please fix. I used this app a lot to play my music from PDFs. I was trying it today during a concert and surprise! The Bluetooth pedal doesn’t turn pages anymore. It just scrolls the pages a little bit. Not sure which version produced the change but I hope the bug can be corrected. I give it 3 starts because it’s still a good PDF editor. Please fix.

After updates…. It lost its lustre. Performance lowered

I bought it, then they change it, need buy again = no way. I bought the version i was needing at one time they sold me one working very fine. Now they changed it no more access in the documents, they ask me to buy the pro version.......for how long ? So its a fool i m not happy, no more......PDF Expert

Paid for what?. I bought the full version of this app last year and now they have changed to a subscription based service, and I no longer have access to the full features !?! I want a refund !!!

From free to costly.... They say “This update adds amazing new features for free”. To this I would like to add”... and remove some free features now available at a subscription cost”

deceptive and greedy pricing. The title says “fast and beautiful pdf editor”. It should say “pdf viewer and annotator ... with editing option available as in-app purchase”. I bought the app at $13.99 and now it has disabled editing and wants me to buy it again via in-app purchase. Readdle apps are good but this experience is very disappointing. update: now they switched to subscription and it’s even worse. $65/yr might be worth it for someone who uses it frequently, but for someone who just needs to edit a word or two in a pdf every few weeks, it’s nuts! Readdle you are dumping users with this excessive price barrier. why not have a price tier for low volume use?

Downloaded it to annotate a PDF.. I wanted to annotate a PDF. Downloaded the app. Was either forced to enter a 69$ agreement or not be able to get the emfesture I was promised in the App Store. If the app is free. And it says it does something. You can get people to download it and for them to get into a contract for 69$ with you to use the promised feature. Companies and apps like yours are substandard.

Greedy app devs. Spent 20$ and still have to pay 50/ a year for bonus features. I like the app, I get that pdf apps are huge in business but as a student who spent 20$ (10$ then another 10$ for more features), I can’t even have an option to personalize the tool bar of pen and highlighting colors and anything else I need. That feature is an extra 50$ a year and if they added that feature into the 20$ I already spent I’d be very happy. I get that pdf conversion should be hidden behind a pay wall but the fact that I can’t even customize my own tool bar to save me plenty of extra time switching between the MAX 6 highlighting colors is very annoying. I have a system that needs 8/9 colors and it’s such a hassle and a pain to switch between them all the time. If y’all add this feature and stop being greedy I’ll rate 5 star but now I’m just debating a refund. If you’re a student look elsewhere, we’re already broke and their nickel and dimming you for basic features is annoying.

Best PDF Platform By a Mile. This app + iPad Pencil has completely eliminated the need for paper in my work flow…and I’m someone who pre-COVID had stacks of paper on my desk that should be measured in feet rather than inches. It not only replaces paper but ups the game way higher than I thought available. I have been using it for about six months almost every day after trying all the credible alternatives. It takes the 🍰 by a mile. Can’t recommend enough for anyone with an iPad + Pencil. Total game changer. The free version is actually really great, but if you think you might use the added features (you will) the money is way worth it.

Loss of features. Updates of this app removed features unless one ponies up a lot more money. Suddenly the Pro version I paid for (PDF editing) is downgraded to Basic. I particularly hate how they removed the useful feature of being able to mark up PDFs by simply inserting and deleting text. There was no attempt to explain the decision-making process here, unlike with many other apps that went the subscription route. Maybe the fee they are charging is still fair in the subscription model context, but they've lost my trust. (By way of comparison, Ulysses let legacy users subscribe at about half their general subscription price.) The Basic version of the app is still rock solid, and I recommend it as one of the available options. But I'm no longer enthusiastic about it. I also don't how well the Pro features work these days.

Expert PDF has Great Features. I started with the 7 day trial which worked GREAT! When I couldn’t find a command to complete a conversion from text to PDF or how to Export new PDFs to my iCloud, their support group always provided quick answers. They answered all three of my email questions within 24 hours including two video How-To examples. And their support came during my FREE 7 day trial! So I purchased a Pro subscription to open up even more features. This App makes my iPad more like a computer, converting many pages of text and email to PDFs which I then upload to iCloud for all my devices to have access. Highly recommended!

Terrible update/price increase. I paid a one time $10 earlier this year for PDF Expert pro, and had greatly enjoyed using this program. It is very efficient and super easy to sync with dropbox so I can seamlessly edit pdfs and transfer to and from my computer. I loved having multiple pen options at my reach. Now with the new update, my app has been reverted back to the basic pdf expert and I am offered a subscription service at a ridiculous price to use the pro version, which I already paid for and had. You no longer get access to multiple pens. In my mind they just created a drastic price increase, and I will most likely cease to use this program, and switch back to using Good Notes. From what I can tell, a program which used to be $10 for the pro version, now costs $50/year?? This is an outrageous price gouge. I do not like the subscription model, and wish I had never updated.

Reason I’m getting through grad school. I love this app. My boyfriend discovered it for me and I have been using it throughout my Master’s program. It’s helpd me organize important information I need to write my papers and with splitscreen I can see PDF expert and write my paper at the same time. I don’t even have to take notes anymore because it lets me add notes/comments into the places that are relevant and color coordinate and highlight all the stuff I need. It also puts all the annotations enlarged on the side so you can clearly see the things you need to see. It’s seriously made my life so much easier. I highly recommend for people that are visual learners and like organization!

Original adopters don’t matter.. How can an app and a company completely disregard the original adopters and users of an app that they PAID FOR $10 be treated as the same as new incoming members who can download the app for free? I have long used your suite of apps in my daily college life but there are alternatives out there. I just can’t support a company that doesn’t care about their longtime user base, the ones that got them to where they are now in the first place just now out of nowhere start demanding a $50 year subscription fee to use some features they already had and to gain further access to their new ones. No free upgrade or even a discount. I recognize the fact that the subscription model is more profitable, but to demand the same subscription fee as any incoming user of the original user base is just unacceptable to me. I’ll be deleting this app along with the other suite of apps the company has. I’m seriously disappointed in how they went about doing things and have certainly lost my business.

I guess I’m not “pro” enough.... ... to spend $50/year on a .pdf app. I used version 6 somewhat regularly, and was surprised when I opened it and found it had updated to a new version 7. A new version 7 that requires a monthly subscription to access the features I’d already paid to unlock in version 6. See, I’m not against subscriptions - WHEN THEY MAKE SENSE. I have plenty of subscriptions now: Netflix, Apple Music, business apps that offer online connectivity (read: hosting costs), online access to my security systems (read: more hosting costs), and several others. Does PDF Expert have any server-side or hosting costs to justify a subscription, or new creative content being added, or anything besides regular software updates? No? Then no thanks. For me, regular software updates do not justify a $50/year subscription to this mobile app. Even assuming there’s a major release every year, $50 is an awfully steep price for a mobile .pdf editor. Especially since that same subscription replaces what I’d already purchased a *license to use* (I know I didn’t own it), then I lost by updating. So I opened the app, and tried to do they few piddly things I needed to do. After the second time the “Upgrade to PRO!” popup appeared, I uninstalled. Lesson here: turn off automatic App updates and read reviews before updating manually.

Highlighter tool is very Bad!. I felt forced to write here as after contacting and emailing screenshots of the problems with its highlighter pens to them, still not seeing any fix or, improvements to the flexible highlighter pen! It is high time they fixed it. # Highlighter pen Problem: Highlighted marks fall on top of the words and for that reason, the words in the page become opaque, hard to see. In every other apps like microsoft onenote, goodnote etc. the highlighter marks fall under the words making the words stand out, look really highlighted, no matter how many times you highlight them. But in pdfexpert, paradoxically, highlighter marks make the words look less visible. You can only better see the colors on top of the words, not very good the words themselves, the very reason we highlight! Also, highlighter marks are also distorted when you try to erase something close to the highlighted marks. In addition, when zoomed in into a page, then highlighted something, then zoom out, the highlighter mark/field become distorted, especially, some edges of the mark/field disappear! There are these three main issues that has been disturbing me for this one and half year with this app. Quick focus is imperative. I hope they look over the other apps I mentioned, fix it soon as I am feeling irate at this stage after following up with them through several emails with screenshots quite a while ago.

Perfect. It's a perfect pdf reader. I love it. Plz change the position of toolbar so that it stick to the right or left edge of paper so that it does not cover the text, now when i put the toolbar on the right side, there is a gap between it and the edge of paper. The top toolbars could be more compact so that more screen would be available. Finally, i strongly request that upgrade "marker" so that it's color does not cover and blur the text, although it has the opacity option, but it doesn't function as perfectly as what we see in other apps such as "good notes". It would be wonderful, if it's color could work the same as "highlighter" color. Tnx in advanced and looking forward for new upgrades.

Almost Perfect - Subscription a Let Down. I kind of understand Spark 3.0 including a paid subscription for all of its features, and PDF Expert to a much smaller degree, because emails vary and evolve for lack of a better word much greater and faster than PDFs. To keep up with change and keep it up to speed, I am more into supporting Spark via a subscription than I am PDF Expert. A one-time fee to unlock its editing features makes sense. A subscription for that? Not so much. It would make more sense if it was just to unlock a collection of useful online features. But that isn’t the case here. I like the current desktop version of PDF Expert’s payment model a lot more.

Just not reliable. As a teacher, I used PDF Expert to take data on students as we were going through a lesson. I found it useful to be able to have my iPad next to me and record necessary information as I was going. However, lately, I have noticed that the app is increasingly unreliable. It would often freeze, in some instances the screen would flicker (for increasingly long periods of time) and there is issues with communicating between Files, Google Drive and OneNote. Today, was the last straw; was doing a running record with a student, the app froze, I had to stop the lesson, shut down the app, wait a few seconds and start it up again. When I did, all the data I recorded was gone. Prior to this, I had deleted the app and reinstalled it (no help); restarted the iPad (no help), etc. I need an app to just work, and this one no longer seems to.

FLAWLESS!!! On iPad Pro, iPhone, And ESPECIALLY Desktop.. I am a seventh year medical student with only a semester left before graduating. I have used PDF Expert now for years across ALL Apple platforms. BIGGEST PRO: it is the only app that is able to handle my large PDF medical textbooks, when most all that I have tried (which is MANY), cannot. BIGGEST CON: NOT being able to purchase it outright. While I have come to trust PDF Expert throughout the years because of personally speaking to its highly responsive staff on numerous occasion, not feeling comfortable with monthly expenses is just something personal that I do not like to get myself involved with. This said, “if” PDF Expert were to revert halfway to their old way in offering both lifetime purchase AND the more affordable monthly rate that they now offer, then; RECOMMENDATION: I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO PURCHASE THIS APP, OR ITS ADVANCED FEATURES (Non-Advanced features are still offered FOR FREE by the Company-which I am very thankful for their generosity, which IS WHY they deserved me taking my time to review their app). Keep up the incredible work PDF Expert Team! It IS appreciated by many of your loyal consumers, even if we do not always mention it. Thank you!

This is the Ultimate. I have tried many pdf programs, but this is absolutely the best. This program is everything it claims to be, and it is so cheap it is unbelievable. It has the ability to add pictures, charts, diagrams, etc I can instantly create an invoice and sign it - right on my iPhone. I can take a picture of a multi-page form and PDF Expert will turn it into a pdf that I can fill-in and print or return to the sender. Anytime I delete a file, it saves it to a “recently deleted” folder where I can retrieve the file. I have used this program for many years, and I have yet to find a deficiency in it.

From best to worst. This has been my favorite app since I discovered it, and recommended it to many people. But, now it became a nightmare. It keeps creating a second file (which are corrupted) for most of my files. Every time I open the app, files on iCloud have to be redownloaded again, this never happened before. And when trying to download them the app crashes. And it does so constantly. There is a constant shuffling of files, appearing, disappearing and then appearing, but only to be downloaded again. This has made it very difficult to use the app. Also, open documents don’t stay open as they used to. When you look for them on the open tabs on top they are not there anymore. I was counting on an update that would fix these bugs, but it seems that it’s only getting worse. I rearely write reviews, but it seems that reviews are helpful to know what userers are experiencing with the app. I hope these issues are fixed soon so that I can enjoy the great app PDF Expert used to be.

Good app with some issues. I have been using the app for some years on my iPad and in general terms it works really good. However, it’s been several times now that some pdf files appeared as blurry images of entire pages, and also some white and gray squares, that never get adjusted in resolution. Even, I scroll to other pages and the entire document looks like that, when at the beginning it was normal. Thus, under this circumstances it is impossible to annotate some files. I don’t understand why this happens with this app, because when I open the same file in other app (Acrobat reader) everything looks normal with good quality images and text (no blurry characters and images). I prefer this app for the tools it offers, but when this issue happens, it’s really annoying.

This App is a SCAM !!!. 2 years ago, this developer made my Version 5 pro unusable by forcing everyone to pay $10 to get version 6, then 1 year later, they force you to pay another $10 to get so-called "new" edit tool. Now, This developer got even more greedy. In 2019 August, this unethical company is ripping and scamming thousands of their customers off by removing all the basic and Pro features that we already paid for and forcing you to this expensive $50 annual subscription! Are you kidding me? Is this even legal? Why can't you add another $8 in-app purchase for the new features? Apple should launch an investigation on their unethical practice. How can you void or nullify the features we have had and force us to pay $50 yearly to get back the features we had? If you want subscription model, create a separate app to do that! You cannot make the upgrade to void all the features we paid for. This is a scam! I just paid the Pro version 3 months ago! After upgrade, everything doesn't work! This is fraud!

So much better than Adobe for iPad. I only have an iPad, not a computer. However my coworker still uses a computer. I use to struggle so much because the documents he can edit are not editable on my iPad, and vise versa. This app has a lot of the same features that I use from Adobe, including editing and file conversion. They even converted a file I couldn’t access at all. They sent an automatic email explaining there would be delays, but the file was still sent back to me about 15 minutes later. (I didn’t need it for the next day or so) And the best part is the paid product is cheaper than the paid version of Adobe. Love this so much and thank you to the developers!

Game changer. I am am interior designer, frequently making redlines to architects plans for builders to use. The features have made redlining so much faster and cleaner. Enables our team to be able to quickly revive and send digital plans. Has been an invaluable tool for my team. Only thing I would say it’s missing is the ability to create layers to be able to turn on/off (similar to CAD) so I don’t have to start a new document each time. Sometimes I need to reference notes from previous a previous doc and would be next level to not have to go in and out of different docs. Overall, has been a major improvement to my work flow and glad to have it but would gladly pay extra to have the layer feature.

Best PDF App. I love this app. Other apps have had some good features, but this one has the most for me. Two things it’s lacking that o left behind in other apps are the ability to pull up two separate PDFs side by side (I can fake this by using the Readdle Documents App in a second window) and I wish I had more color options in the color picker like GoodReader had. Aside from those, this app’s UI feels better than the others did when I was using them and they aware so quick to update. Plus I already used the Scanner app from Readdle and now this allows me to really easily add pages to a pdf by scanning. I also have it on my iMac and the ability to work on iPhone, iPad, and iMac seamlessly is a HUGE plus. Worth the money for sure!

Pro user of PE6 still retain their features. I was at first very frustrated with Readdle with the release of PE7 because I assumed I would be forced to pay 50/yr to retain features I already paid for. I am less mad though after doing some research. It seems that the pro users of PE6 still retain all of the features they purchased (excluding the ability to have two pens or markers). We get grandfathered in it seems — where new users have to pay 50 yr to have our features we only had to pay 20 dollars. It also seems that the only benefit pro users get in updating to the new pro tier in PE7 is: conversion of office files in-app, reduce file size option, and customize toolbar. These aren’t worth 50/yr IMO. If pro users of PE6 do upgrade to the new pro tier of PE7 we’d become the losers because then we would have to pay 70 dollars in total (if you Include the 20 we paid in PE6) where new users only had to pay 50. In short, pro PE6 users can update without consequence (excluding the lack of ability to have two pens and markers). I am still extremely disappointed in Readdle’s decision to move to such an absurd pricing strategy (as I think most are), but I think I will be content using the app as-is for my time in college. I will never pay 50/yr.

Non functional. With newest update (7.11) pdf expert has stopped working. Anytime I try to submit a document, the app freezes and must be manually closed and reopened. I sent customer service a note on Monday night about this issue, and since then I have only had a couple communication. They wanted videos, I replied in less than 5 minutes. They wanted the documents in questions, I replied in less than 5 minutes. The team takes more than a day to respond and only responds if I follow up first. It’s now Friday and I’ve been without my ability to save work documents for a week. Each time the team reaches out it’s a new person and they ask for the same things: video and documents. I asked for a work around by being downgraded and was told that’s not possible. So I’m stuck with a program that doesn’t work and no solutions.

Beautiful and useful PDF reader. The interface is gorgeous and the functionaity for reading PDF textbooks--including easy highlighting, underlining, notetaking, and outlining--is superb. I also occasionally use the PDF editing capabilities, which are simple and efficient. The developer responds very quickly to suggestions for improvement, which is a good sign. Overall, this is one of my favorite apps and is a pleasure to use. I use it several hours a day on an iPad Pro 12.9" to read what are sometimes mind-numbing texts, so having a PDF reading app that looks good and functions well is very important to me. This is the best one I have found and I have used several.

“Upgrade” disabled functionality, Readdle won’t fix it. I purchased PDF Expert: PDF Editor in January, 2018 for $9.99 and have the iTunes purchase receipt. I used the package occasionally to edit or redact PDFs, and it worked very well. About a month ago, I opened the package and it wouldn’t work. When I tried to edit or redact, it offered me a “free trial” teaser leading to a $50/year subscription. I tried “restore purchases” which didn’t work, then contacted Readdle. We’ve been back and forth on this for 3 weeks, but their final message on the topic appears to be “Screw you.” It is unimaginable to me that a company would “upgrade” a software package (named PDF EDITOR), removing its core capability, and try to get me to pay an outrageous upcharge to restore the functionality that I ALREADY PAID FOR. This is the most customer-hostile money grab that I’ve seen in a long time. While I really liked the software, I now hate this company, I’ll never buy anything from them again and I’ll do everything I can to discourage anyone else from doing so.

App is now useless. Years ago they with me to add a few features that I needed to use the app for annotating papers and to take full advantage of Apple’s pencil. The result was an app that really stood out for me. Unfortunately, the latest update is a huge step back. It is clearly designed to make folks upgrade to the pro version and your subscription plan (which I will never do). However, the biggest problem is that the new version is very slow now and I can barely use it on my first generation iPad Pro. I restarted the device but no help. I then realized that my wife on her iPad (same model) still had the last version of the app. I deleted it from my iPad, extracted the old app from my wife’s iPad and transferred it to my tablet using iAmazing. However, when I did that the version that opens on my iPad is again the new one. Thank you very much for this enormous improvement. Either you give me back the old version of this now unusable app or I will need to find another PDF annotation program that I can use again.

Update: Fixed? (Readle PDF expert holds your files hostage.). Update: Perhaps the recent update fixed this issue that I referred to below. I hope it did. It seems as if it did. For that reason I’ve changed my rating from 0-3. One thing for sure, I don’t think I’ll ever update this app again for fear I lose my files and app usability again. Thank you for appearing to fix the issue for previously paid premium members. Original Rating; I’ve had a paid premium purchase that worked well for me. Now they’ve gone and change their business model to a paid subscription WITHOUT giving previously paid customers a ‘heads-up’ and notice that once they update the PDF Expert app, they’ll then lose access to every single one of their PDFs that they’ve ever made using this app. POOF! All gone. They could change the name of this app to ‘Readle-iculous PDF X-Pert’.

THANK YOU FOR GREAT APP. If there is only one thing I must have after civilization collapses and everything else is lost, it will be PDF Expert! The amount of thought, dedication, paying attention to details, and striving to make it easy and intuitive to users the developers put into this app is overwhelming and greatly appreciated. PDF Expert is the only place where my dreams come true! Many many time as I’m reading a book I’d stop and say if only I can do this...only to realize either immediately or after an update that I actually can! I’m not a fan of apple or apple products, but I can’t live without Apple Pencil and PDF Expert, in fact this app is the only reason I own an iPad! Thanks a lot PDF Expert family!

Unstable. This app is having serious stability issues. I have been using it for over a year and I am a big fan. However, files are freezing, bookmarks are not working, and I am being forced to close and reopen the app several times. Today I emailed the login file to the support team. I’m hoping the problem gets fixed. I want to continue using this app because I don’t find any other app to compare. Maybe I reached the apps capability in terms of amount and size of files it can handle. This would be good to know from the app developer in order to use the app as efficiently as possible.I just deleted the app and will try to reload it and try once again. I probably lost all the files that I had stored. This was a desperate measure but I need this app to be working Monday morning. Hope this review helps developers in the audience.

Amazing app to read on with only 1 large flaw. This is my to app to study on. The multiple tabs/windows that update each other instantly. The ability to have multiple highlighted quickly to access in the favorites toolbar. The only flaw i have found is with a missing tool. Switching from highlighter to non highlighter every time i want to define a word and then having to click the word and then the definition option slows down my workflow. This would definitely be a 5 star app if there was a tool I could add to my favorites bar that would let my click a word and its definition automatically popped up. Other than that this is an amazing app and definitely worth it’s subscription price. Thank you for this app!

Update makes it painful to use. This is a great app and has served me well. However, the latest updates have made this app painfully buggy and slow. When highlighting text, there are times when, upon lifting my finger, the highlighted portion jumps from the proper selection to a sentence above. I then have to delete it and re-highlight. Sometimes i need to zoom out to full page to get it to work. The notes feature has been affected as well. When long pressing to create a note, it takes anywhere from 3-5 seconds for the options dialogue box to appear. Sometimes it it takes longer, and as i tap around to see what happens, the delay catches up and random selections have been made. Sometimes the note won't open. If the note is on the edge of the document, i tap on it, and it turns the page. This repeats. I zoom out to full page and the note disappears. I have to recreate it. This is a good app. Please fix these bugs!

Last update. I use this application on a daily basis for college. I can take notes and read text books perfectly. I frequently switch from one pdf file to another while taking notes and studying. After the last update, when using the app, the top tool bar disappears and I am unable to switch to a different file. I have to close the app completely and reopen it for the tool bar to reappear. Also while taking notes, the app seems to forget that I have the pen tool selected in annotate mode. I have to tap the pen tool again to continue writing. Even though the last update was made to optimize the app, it has become less efficient then the previous update. Edit: new update installed, issue with not being able to open different files has gotten more persistent... the tool bar disappears and I cannot go back and forth from different pdf files. I must close the app completely and reopen it to restore the tool bar. Very frustrating when taking notes for class.

Readdle Rocks, Rolls, Rules. Seriously, everything this company produces is outstanding. I've purchased them all, so I know. They were also very responsive and helpful the one time I had an issue, which, I hasten to add, was purely the result of user error due to sleep deprivation. I especially like how well this app integrates with and complements another Readdle application, Documents. As a professor of rhetoric and writing, I use the two in tandem on a weekly basis in responding to student papers. The App Store Editors are not being hyperbolic — it IS as simple to revise a PDF as it is to use a word processor. In fact, I upload Word files to Documents and convert them to PDFs because doing so gives me more functionality (and thus options) with none of Word's frustrating bugginess.

Version 7 is great, but... (revised review). REVISED REVIEW: Discovered that when edit bar is moved to the sides, the other toolbars can be hidden. Hallelujah! Combined with the new “quick return” capabilities in the lower left, my editing is substantially streamlined. Luckily, I have some pro features “grandfathered” in... $50 a year for a single app is crazy! 4 stars until a more reasonable pricing model comes along. PDF Expert has been my go-to doc editor... from reading theses, journal articles, to day-to-day doc management. I loved the clean markup interface, which set it apart — just the markup toolbar and nothing extraneous. In version 7, this is replaced with the full toolbar, file name, and markup toolbar, resulting in a significant decrease of screen space for the doc itself. It’s terrible for the 9-inch iPad.

Great App Poor Add-ons. Purchased this app for two ipad pros along with the add on pack, so initial 9.99 plus $10 (times 2). Excellent product would highly recommend. I also have a Adobe account so I was able to compare with Acrobat DC. I am Very satisfied with this app. Here's my gripe, I went to updates and there were 2 additional add-on packs, one was free, the other was the 11 Anniversary bundle. Of course I chose the free first. When I went back to purchase the 11 Anniversary bundle it denied me. I would have rather purchase the 11 Anniversary bundle first had I known I could only take advantage of one bundle. I contacted Read let directly and they advised me they couldn't help, they don't control what Apple offers in the bundles. For the lack of providing accurate information I am giving a 4 star rating.

The Simplicity of this program is great!. I gripe about a lot of programming. It could me my nature or the fact that in my job precision is critical. The more steps, the more likely one is to create errors. With this program I can convert documents, edit, make notes, clarify points and return my findings in just a few simple steps. It saves time and transfers smoothly to my other app which in turn shares the finished work product with the redundant mainframe cloud and each of the assigned recipients around the world. All in the time it takes to read and make notes! It could use more user options such as font and scientific data conversion from handwritten notes. Better organization by .pdf # would be nice but most people can read dates and alpha files. Great job!

Thank you for updates. Can we have some customization on the toolbars though?. Love PDFExpert! It makes studying very easy if you have your textbooks in digital form. My one gripe (actually two) is the lack of customization options for the toolbar. I would like to be able to put the ‘select’ option alongside the pen-colors-eraser toolbar. I believe this makes more sense practically-speaking. When you are writing on the PDF, you may find yourself wanting to move around your annotations or drawings or imported pictures. As it currently stands, the select option is segregated to the ‘general section’ of annotation tools. Allowing us to customize the toolbars with tools we use synergistically would be a great update. Secondly, and this is minor: I feel like the inking intensity is really inconsistent. Its a similar problem across the board on varying brush sizes. You need to be zoomed in at a particular level and have a certain brush size for your handwriting to look nice. I find myself applying a consistent movement/pressure but the thinness/thickness of the handwriting stroke is variable. Again, not end of the world problems. Love your app.!

Love, love, love this app!. I haven’t found a single thing I wanted to do that I couldn’t. They seem to have thought of everything. I have my life organized into 28 folders (so far) with everything from art classes and knitting & weaving hobbies to family healthcare records to book notes. I read my articles on the app and annotate them then easily file them and all of this is at my fingertips in an instant. Very intuitive to use and a good user guide if you can’t just figure it out. Even the free version was useful but the upgrade is reasonably priced (unlike some more common PDF programs out there!) and well worth the money. This is one of my all time favorite apps!

The subscription fee is quite absurd. I love the app, and I have been using it for quite a while. It’s good to see that i am able to get a upgrade from pdf expert 6. However, as it turns into subscription based for newcomers or for existing user who want to become “pro”user. 50 for a year is absurd. People love the app and also love the one time purchase feature. Considering that app like affinity designer, procreate, GoodNotes bring all the new features to existing users, I don’t think the price is any fair. I know subscription has become a trend in iOS app lately as it is a more profitable businesses model, but at the same time, it would turn a lot of people off. Once Apple add more functions to future iOS update, people might not even consider using this app (just take a note from luna display) due to the absurd subscription fee.

New “service” model unworkable for us. Prior to this update, we would purchase the app for $10 for new hires. We have this installed on dozens of devices and we’ve been very happy with it. With the latest update, the stamp and signature functionality has been locked behind a $10 PER MONTH subscription. So for 1 month, we can now get all the functionality we had permanently for the same price before. This is especially difficult as our employees use their own Apple IDs to manage their devices, so previously we could just use a gift card to purchase the app. That doesn’t work for a subscription. As a medium-sized business, we simply cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars per month for functionality that we were able to pay a flat fee for before. We will be looking for alternatives as I assume they will not be changing their model. Incredibly frustrating as we had multiple workflows built around their functionality. Would love to be educated if I am missing something.

This is my school go-to. Hi! I love your app. I use it for my grad school work and personal archiving. I appreciate the ability to create, highlight, write on the PDF, bookmark, etc; it has helped me to transition to being able to more effectively use digital resources. My attuned spatial memory is one of my strengths; and the stickers allow my brain to remember where in a document (sometime up to 900 pages long) where the information is. I would like to see more diverse stickers. Creating unique qualities of my notes engages more sensory inputs to help build my recall of the information. I still prefer to use books because of their smell, touch and the flipping the pages, but your app is making the transition easier for me.

Overrated and absolutely horrible. Are you kidding me? This app does not allow you to adjust fillable forms. It will simply fill out in a light blue color like all the free ones do, but I bought the premium and it won’t do any more than that, you cannot in anyway adjust size or color of fillable PDF forms??? remember this cost $80? Now I try to open up a document shared and it only will give you blue lines and boxes everywhere. Not only on my new, but previously saved ones were this never happened before. I’ve tried everything to get rid of the box but you can’t and you could only paste where you choose texts were that wasn’t the case before and even then you can’t move the box once you paste or change the properties as you could before?? This is nothing but garbage, I would avoid at all costs unless you want to waste money and have nothing but aggravation. How in the world is it rated 4.7 stars???

Subscription For Basic Annotation, notes and highlighting should not require $50 subscription!. There is a basic functionality that 90% of users need to read, edit, annotate notes, highlight etc. To ask a recurring $50 annual fee to do this basic function... is a rip-off. Apple, the author of Preview on MAC should be ashamed for recommending this application. These functions should be part of the initial $10 purchase. The fact that they are not, is terrible. The “editor” part, where you can change the internals or writing in the document should be part of the “pro” part that is fine. These basic note taking and annotation functions should be easily available to all... the program is not hard to write, the updating is not difficult. Recommend functionality we used to find in Goodreader, hopefully Apple has not forced them to adopt a subscription model as well.

Had this app for years, now all of a sudden I have to pay a subscription to even use it. I purchased this app years ago ($8 maybe?) and was using it every day until yesterday. Now I suddenly can’t edit PDFs I was editing just yesterday because I’m being prompted to pay for a subscription. I’m not doing any heavy duty work, I’m just essentially filling out paperwork, but apparently I need to pay $50 a year to do this. I thought when you purchased an app, that’s for life. It was until yesterday, I guess. I should be able to do the same things I’ve been doing for years and be given the OPTION to upgrade if I want, but it won’t even let me make a single mark with my Apple Pencil. I’m extremely frustrated because now, instead of getting work done, I have to find a new PDF editing app. I never write negative reviews, but I’m extremely upset by this. I’d be happy to find out that this is just a misunderstanding and my functions will be restored in an update or something like that. Until then... bye readdle.

Make me pay for features I already paid for. I used to love this app as a long-time PAID user, but I don’t need to use it frequently; perhaps 1-4 times per year. So today was one of the days where I needed to use it to do a slight edit on a PDF. Lo and behold, for me to use the editing functions I’m being prompted for a subscription. WHAT!? Features that I previously paid for are now part of a subscription? No way. As an early adopter, I helped fund their development. Now they treat the early users like this by REMOVING features and making us re-pay to have them? I get it that to stay alive many developers are going to subscription-based. In principle that’s okay - as long as you don’t dump on people who bought under a different model. Other organizations did this right. They didn’t force the “downgrade” on their users by providing this hidden “upgrade” (downgrade) of an existing app, with no possibility of going back to the full-featured version. Instead, other organizations created a new and distinct app for the subscription version, and simply stopped supporting the old one after a while. That was fair. This is not. But anyway, I don’t use it enough to pay $50/year even if I were tempted to give you more money, which I’m not. I’ll find another option!

LAG! And lost features. And now expensive.. UPDATE: I’m changing from 2 stars to 1. PDF Expert 6 was one of my favorite productivity apps, and absolutely central to my workflow. Readdle has always put out well thought out, well engineered software until now. They took a great app, scrapped it, released something all new, completely different, and unbelievably buggy, and added a $50/yr subscription price! I find new bugs every day, and it literally makes me angry every time I work with it. Trying to find an alternative app to change to, but it takes time to completely redo one’s workflow. Maybe they will decide to eat crow and roll back to the old app and pricing before I (and many others I suspect) find something else. —————————————————————————————— This app is the single most important tool in my daily workflow. I didn’t expect this update to castrate the app. Constant lag and stuttering makes it almost unusable. In addition, tasks have been made more difficult: There used to be a sidebar shortcut for Synced Folders; now I have to navigate there from the My Files screen = more taps (and more waiting for lag.) I suppose I’m fortunate in having paid for the app previously, so that I don’t have to swallow a $50/yr subscription, and I only lose a few features by not doing so. I sincerely hope the developer fixes the bugs, and backtracks on a few misguided changes.

A good PDF app gone wrong due to shameless greed. This was a very good PDF reader and annotation app that I used to use everyday for studying my textbooks. In the latest major update they have removed the ability to have custom pens and tools in one toolbar and you can only get it back for 50$! Or you must waste your time navigating different toolbars. This makes the app practically useless for me and some of my friends who also used to love this app. Their latest update is simply a very disgusting effort to make you purchase their app again for 50 dollars. Oh and did I tell you this is a subscription service now? 50 dollars each year for a PDF reader app! It’s ridiculous really. Me and my brother and some friends have not used this app since the changes I described and have fortunately found alternative apps that we like more than this one actually. So I thank the developers for that.

A “Go To” App for me. I discovered Readdle Apps several years ago and they just keep getting better. PDF Expert has become one of the most used Apps on my iPad Pro. I frequently receive pdf’s for a number of reasons. The ability to sign and return documents saves me significant. Ability to annotate prepared text is something I do pretty much every week and I love that I can simply insert a new, blank page and expand my notes on that. Highlighting text helps me quickly go back and focus on things that need my attention later. Erasing any of my notes and annotations, keeps it all “clean” if I need to send something on to someone else. This App will cost you a few bucks, but the investment is priceless for me.

PDF EXPERT 7 a winner. I’ve been using PDF expert for a couple of years (older versions). This update is fantastic, but after several years of doing it one way there is a learning curve. It’s worth the investment of time and for now the pro features. I’m writing this on my iPhone since I’m running iPad OS 13 beta on my iPad Pro gen 3 12.9 and you can’t post reviews from beta software. So far on beta 7 no issues except using expert in safari, you gotta look hard to add it into the share button. The best feature so far for me is the ability to add folders to the iCloud storage in The PDF expert folder. The rest is just what I would expect Readdle, clean smooth and feature loaded.

Excellent work! (With a feature request). Dear Readdle, I’m a fan of your apps like PDF expert and Spark. Thanks for your excellent work. PDF expert is intuitive, fast, sufficient for all PDF annotating and reviewing tool for me relative to other PDF viewing/editing tools in the market currently. I highly recommend for someone if you are looking for a decent PDF application on your iPad. Give it a try. You won’t regret, hardly. Feature Request: 1. While viewing paper sized PDF on my iPad 9.7, I felt uncomfortable about the fact that every time I have to adjust the size of the page shown on the screen. I want the page of my PDF fully shown, without the hinder of the Toolbar. Can I adjust this in Settings? I really like to have an option how PDF Expert opens a PDF files with certain levels of zooms, like I can do choose “Fit to Width” “Fit to Height” “100%” ... options in PC pdf viewers. 2. When I draw on the pages of my pdf files with my Apple Pencil, I feel like the lines and characters written isn’t as smooth as I feel in other apps. Hmm, hard to explain but I would say sentences hand-written in PDF expert doesn’t look so pretty? Wish this feature request help to enhance the usability of already fascinating application, PDF Expert!
