Intuitive, Functional, Appealing. One of the first things I noticed about this app was its ease of use. Even for non-tech saavy folks, the UI is easily navigable and intuitive. There’s very little searching that needs to be done to access most of the features. I love how simple they make the process of setting custom rules, though I hope in the future they offer some more complex options. I would particularly love to see if/then statements become available. My only complaints would be technical—when adding users, I keep getting an error when attempting to set a pin. Settings also tend to reset or not save when attempt to set accessibility for guests. The cameras also tend to freeze sometimes, and I’ve noticed that playback for events can be a little slow. These are little things, however, that don’t detract from the over all experience. Ultimately, however, I’d say this is definitely one of the best home security apps I’ve used in terms of features and accessibility. Thank you Vivint team!

Overall great! Few suggestions…. I’m coming from having frontpoint security system so I only have one thing to compare to. Right off the bat the customer service has been phenomenal, easy flowing layout, easy to figure out. The picture quality is amazing in my opinion and it’s totally customizable. One or two things I would like adjusted however is the talking via doorbell or cameras, if your hand is on the button you can’t hear the other person, much like a walkie talkie, I would rather it be like a phone where I can hear when the person starts talking so I can stop. On the panel you can’t zoom into images but the phone app you can. It would be nice if the panel and the app totally matched because they already practically do. The widget for the app could use a little tweaking too but it’s still functional. There’s a glitch or a lag when updating user names but it hasn’t been too big of a concern.

Doesn’t function consistently to expectations. The system is great, overall. However, there are issues that constantly pop up. The cameras are the main issue. Even though I set it for recording on movement and the sensitivity is set low enough to record when it detects objects as small as my chihuahuas, I’ll walk around in back for several minutes and when I come in to check the operation of the cameras on my iPad or iPhone, it shows under clips that the last recording was hours ago. I’d hate to have a burglary and have to rely on this system to provide authorities with evidence. The other issue is the wait time to speak with a representative when there’s a problem with the system. It took over 20 minutes on hold today to get a camera issue resolved. It’s the same excuse other companies use; higher call volume than expected. Geez! Figure it out. If your system is malfunctioning so often that you are getting such a high volume of calls, either fix the system or hire and train more reps. 20 minutes is way too long!

Doesn’t provide some badly needed features like others. The Vivint system has a critical missing feature that they don’t acknowledge and could likely fix easily. If you have cameras outside your house, there is not a ‘mute this device’ button. It’s driving me and my family nuts. Great security at night or while you’re traveling but if the kids want to play basketball or anything else, the camera notifications drive you nuts. If you want to mute the cameras, good luck. You have to go in and shrink the detection zone as small as possible since turning off notifications seems to do nothing. What people need is ‘mute this device’ for a specified time. We could do that with our old Ring system. For instance if you have contractors lingering in your driveway or kids playing basketball, I’d like a ‘mute for 3/4/5/or 6 hours’ setting for my watch and or phone. Something you’d think that they would think of, yet it isn’t there. I’ve talked to them about and they took it under consideration. 🙄 I don’t think they have a customer advisory board or even really consider how their systems may be implemented. Frustrating.

Feeling Scammed. We have had many of the same issues others here have written. Since our installation around Christmas time our system, cameras, doorbell, microphones, app, panels freezing and no reset helps, etc have never ever functioned appropriately since the minute the first install tech left!!!! We have had multiple technicians out and have notified Vivint nearly every time (exhausting, inconvenient, annoying). We have told their manager fix it or give us our money back. No response. So we call back for a repair tech. Each visit’s fixes and upgrades do nothing. We have repeatedly heard “Your home is too large, cameras are too far away”?!? Really?!? Then why sell to us telling us it will all be great?! Everything is delayed just like many here have written. We get double notifications, mics don’t work, video starts after the car has driven in or out of view. We have our doorbell on our gate. We never have gotten a live feed or live notification ever! It’s really really shady business to charge what they do and the product does not work even close to promised. Only our Nest works and that’s not even Vivint’s. Ugh! VIVINT I would like you to honor your commitment or give us a full refund and put our house back the way you found it!

Terrible company with terrible products. We’ve been with Vivint for 5 years and could not be happier to cancel our contract. In that 5 years, Vivint changed our contract by cancelling a service we paid for (cloud storage with space monkey), failed to honor our moving terms that were specifically discussed before we signed our contract, and had faulty equipment installed at our new house that resulted in the police being called and my home being searched while we were gone. The app itself is horrible. Playback on our cameras almost never works. It takes about 2 hours to get playback to do anything if it decides to. Our camera on the front door always disconnects and sends an error. The app settings are set to auto record a doorbell ring and visitor but it only records if the bell is rung. The sales people for this company are AMAZING. Truly nice and honest people. They try to upgrade and sell to us often. We don’t bite any more because the customer service after you’ve signed up with Vivint is THE LOWEST OF THE LOW. Vivint does not care about anything but money. They are not a security company that wants to protect you. They just want your cash. Worst 5 year contract ever!!!

Very disappointed with Vivint. The application for Vivint is OK. It stalls a lot and that is not helpful when you need to have a more immediate response when you’re trying to see who’s at your front door. But the service overall has been incredibly disappointing. We have had over the last several years about eight different representatives, all of whom have not delivered on promises that were made when we first got the service. The customer service through Covid was unbelievably terrible and now it’s barely any better. No matter how many customer service representatives we have talk to they all make promises to make the right, the many wrongs of the service and not one person, including the supervisor has responded to concerns that we have registered literally for years. There are always Vivint customer service reps, crawling throughout our neighborhood, and we stop every one of them to share our experience. They all express their regret, take our phone number, and file to have someone to contact us immediately. We’re still waiting, and it’s been three years. I do not recommend Service to anyone. It is a support example of what excellent customer service should be, and it is far less than what any customer deserves. This is an expensive service with very cheap attention to the needs of its customers.

Pausing Motion Alerts. I absolutely love my Vivint system! HOWEVER, there is one issue that completely frustrates me - the inability to silence motion alerts from my cameras. We upgraded from different camera (just a camera with record ability) to this system. That system had a feature that allowed you to temporarily disable motion alerts if someone was working/cutting grass, etc for a specified time period - usually 30 minutes to 2 hours. At the end of the duration you selected, motion alerts would automatically re-enable and you’d resume getting alerts. With this system, you have to go into the program and choose to disable motion alerts. THEN, you have to REMEMBER to activate them again, otherwise, you won’t get motion alerts… seriously, this is a major inconvenience and has the potential to miss some important events. PLEASE develop a system to temporarily disable motion alerts with said alerts automatically resuming after the selected period! Thank you!

Vivint app. The app itself is better than previous version, however connectivity is horrible. I constantly am being disconnected from video when trying to view my cameras, half the time the app does not load or takes more than a minute to load. What’s the point of having security cameras and alerts when you cannot load the video in time? We use a camera in garage for backing up the boat in the tight space and sometimes it takes me 15 minutes because the video would drop after 5-10 secs, then load again and then drop again and take 2-3 minutes to load. I would have to exit out of app and close it, then load the video again and then it would drop the video. Mind you this all happens while I have full reception of Wi-Fi because I purposely bought a strong enough mesh system and put one in the garage for this reason. I’ve tried to get an answer from vivint and they blame the app connecting to the garage door openers which is another problem in itself that sometimes shows that it failed to close the garage door, when I sat there in the car and watch the door close. And then sometimes the app works fine. Not really much help from Vivint other than them telling me to update the app, so every time I have these issues I look for an update that isn’t available.

Ok. I’ve appreciated my security system for years. Recently, I’ve had issues and trying to reach Vivint has become increasingly more challenging. If my phone screen goes to sleep while waiting in que to chat, it kicks me out of my place: which is very frustrating when the wait time is 20+ minutes. It’s hard to keep my screen “awake” that while time while also trying to watch my child. My current issue is a pink hue that has taken over one of our cameras and if we watch any section of video we are unable to watch it again. We get a message that says “video unavailable”. This lack of repeated video playback is a huge issue for me that I want resolved. I live in a “safe” neighborhood, mostly retirees and families with young children. Unfortunately, our safe bubble popped and one person was killed, 2 kids shot, and property damage occurred. Our video did catch some unknown vehicles prior to the crime and after watching one time we can no longer pull the video up. Really really upsetting

Very disappointed. I keep having problems with this app., for instances, the app keeps going offline, stating that the wifi is not connected, when it is. Why is this keeps happening. The pictures on the apps are dark. Why is this happening as well? What’s the point of having this app if it doesn’t work properly? Can you please fix this glitch? Thank you. Again I’m disappointed with you app!!!! It seem that my first review was ignored. I’m still having the same problem plus now the alarm that should go off when someone or animal is at my front door is not. My plant which was near the front door was attacked by a raccoon and not once did the alarm went off or the video took clips of the attack that night. Keep in mind that the deter was on and still no alarm. Yet early the next day the alarm went off for no reason. It did this 17 times and even recorded clips of no one there. The only reason I was aware that a raccoon attack my plant and not the wind was looking back at the unrecorded video and actually seeing the raccoon attacking my plants. Not to mentioned that one of the first recorded clip shows the camera flashing like it was taking a picture of the front door area with no one there. Can you please fix this problem!!!

Useless, should be sued, can’t give it ZERO. 1. Lately all the cameras are “Tap to skip to the next video”, usually happens when we need the video playback the most. 2. Long lag on doorbell camera, by the time I get the doorbell camera to load on the app the people have already left. 3. The alarm started to count down on its own and we didn’t even set it(lucky I was home). 4. The “orange boxes” under detection settings constantly disappear and we have to reset each box for each camera two to three times a month. 5. When we call the customer service center they blamed me for not “checking on the detection boxes periodically” or blamed me cause “our panel wasn’t updated with the latest software?” I have more issues but this post isn’t going anywhere, as I have sent emails up the ladder only to be compt’ed for one one month of service, but it is still crappy service. I don't care how much you charge me monthly, just please make the system work like it is intended to. They have really gone down hill in the last year. Can’t cancel cause it renders the camera useless. They are charging me $35/mth just so I can use my own equipment, no vivint monitoring or emergency calls to the authorities, THAT is the real crime.

Old house. I don’t usually write reviews on things. But I wanted to put it out there. Sales guy came to my door and we said we had to think so he came back the next day and decided to make the switch to them. They were here until 2 am installing everything but then had to come back 3 different times to figure out wiring. I was not that impressed. They state there price only goes down however what they don’t tell you is your taking out a line of credit in your name for the equipment . it is not part of the bill at all so you get “charged” twice a month. They state you do not have to pay for the equipment however that’s what the line of credit is for. Also I told the sales guy I did not want a thermostat he insisted that I have it .. we got it installed and my ac/furnace is only a year old and came with its own thermostat. When they installed Vivint thermostat they messed up the wires and my ac is now messed up and there is nothing any company can do. I had my ac company put on the original thermostat that came with it and now I’m paying for a piece of equipment I no longer use. In all I’m happy with the security system. However lately my cameras have been glitching and when I go back to rewatch what happened over the night I can not and it just looks like a picture. Not saying all this will happen to you however it happened to me so I would just like people aware

Great app for Vivint Smart Home Security System!. We recently purchased the system, and they had me get the app so I didn’t have to keep going back to the base unit to check on things. The app enables you to view previous videos not available on the main system. You can speak with someone at the door, or someone snooping around the yard or at my husband’s truck, without them seeing you, which is a real bonus. And monitoring video clips has proven that nobody has been snooping around the home. That is a great comfort! The only negative I can think of is that the system only provides 4-second clip videos, rather than 24-hour monitoring. Still, it provides clips any time there is motion around the house, so it gets videos of anyone snooping around or just trying to visit or drop off a package. I highly recommend the Vivint Smart Home system, and the app makes it a winner!

Can’t live without it now that I have it. I really love the Vivint security system. The installation wasn’t fast it took time. A lot of work. Even though it was pouring rain all day they still showed up and installed. The installer was a perfect gentleman full of knowledge. He took the time to explain everything I’m 60 years old and my husband is 68 years old not at all familiar with smart home devices. Because of the simplicity of the Vivint security system we also added google home devices. The smart home that was provided is easy to use and we feel very safe. The first time we left the house my Yorkie set the alarm off and I immediately deactivate it and within a minute Vivint called to make sure everything was alright. We have a complete view of the front of the house including our three driveways, both sides and the back yard of the outside of our home. I have one camera in the den and it’s wonderful to be able to see and talk to the grandkids when they visit and I am contemplating installing more inside cameras. We live on almost a acre of land and the video is clear, even at night. Thank you Vivint for making security affordable and our life simple.

Easy to use app, but missing an easy feature.. We just switched from an ADT/Ring setup and are pretty happy overall. The one REALLY disappointing thing is that you can’t simply snooze a camera in the app. Ring has this feature and it’s great for when I’m working in the yard. With Vivint, you must manually switch off alerts, and then remember to toggle them back on later. Not difficult by any means, but inconvenient when you’re used to a different company’s app. We also had to have a tech come out the day after our install as the installers didn’t even get all of our windows (which are all hardwired) set up with the system. 1/2 of our house wouldn’t have triggered the alarm in case of a break in. This doesn’t reflect on the app itself, but makes me worry what we’re in for with Vivint. Strongly considering using the 3-day cancellation document at this point as the salesman didn’t seem to know what he was promising.

I love it. I love this app it is so easy to use a is VERYYY helpful. My family and I use this. We have 5cameras and the doorbell. It works so nicely. When you watch the live camera or doorbell it’s less than 1 second delay which is amazing! It notifies you right away when there’s motion. Not just that but the people that came to put the cameras and doorbell on, are so nice, and they have great service. I definitely recommend this app!!! When you talk through the cameras, the audio is so clear and loud. You can lock your door easily even if you leave the house it will notify you and you can lock it from your phone. I love that it has the emergency tab. Or when someone’s in your house and they say to turn the alarm off there’s a button you click and put your passcode and the app will send help and it will look like the alarm is off but it isn’t. On the emergency tad they have three options panic, emergency , and fire. I love this app it’s a life saver..!!!!!!!❤️

Worthless without monitoring. Bought all the equipment outright for hundreds of dollars and then a couple years in chose to not have the monitoring anymore and six months later they took my app access away which makes my system way less useful and not worth it. I don’t need or want monitoring but they’re saying that you HAVE to have it to make the app work. I could understand if the equipment was free but it was very expensive and then that’s not good enough, they want to keep getting your money every month so took away the main feature that made this all worth it. Now I can’t do 80% of the things I did without access to the app. Doorbell camera was crap and didn’t catch over HALF of the motion events and people detected and I had someone enter my house once when I forgot to lock my door and the camera didn’t catch it. I had to get a nest camera for my living room as a backup to see my front door. I don’t like being forced into paying for something I don’t need or want just to have access to something I do need and want. Selling equipment and going with another company.

Not worth the money. The app rarely works for us. We are constantly having to reboot. Every time we’ve gotten notifications that our alarm is going off, Vivent calls to ask if our home is okay... and we’re not home so how would we know?? It causes such panic because we have been burglarized in the past. After we request they notify law enforcement, they have called back every time to say the police won’t be dispatched. Then what’s the point of having an alarm system?? And for the amount of time it takes to do all that, if our home was being burglarized they would be long gone. The cameras - when “online” - have been useful on occasion but typically when we really need them to actually work because we’re away from home they are “offline” and useless. For the amount of money we pay for the system and cameras and doorbell, I’d expect a lot better product. From day 1 the doorbell camera hasn’t worked properly. The only piece of mind it offers is that if our home is broken into while we’re away, at some point we will be notified. The way the system is set up won’t prevent burglars or make them leave... but at least we’ll be informed.

Might be the best system yet!. Easy to use, makes arming the house fun! Almost everything can be controlled from the phone as well as from your Alexa or Google Devices; arming and disarming, monitoring & controlling the temperature, locking and unlocking the doors, letting the garage up and down. We also have the digital key locks, and indoor & outdoor cameras. They also provided Linksys systems to help expand the WiFi throughout the house. There are other Aps that can be used with the system to help enhance its usefulness, such as Streety to help connect with other Vivint users in the neighborhood. Easy to change the PIN numbers also, and it monitors your carbon monoxide systems also. Alerts the police, fire dept, etc. The only thing I don’t like is that all of my doors have to use a different key now. Even though we do not have it yet, it has the ability to control lighting by use of special type light bulbs. Very quick install process. Definitely worth the money.

Glitch while using the app with an iPhone. I love this system and service but I only have one complaint. I have an iPhone and early on when I first got the system this didn’t happen, but some time after an update on the app things changed where I now have a problem while trying to change the temperature in my home. I go to thermostat and when I click on downstairs this doesn’t happen, but when I click on upstairs and try to change from heat to cool or off, whenever I touch the button it doesn’t work. If I go over and touch fan, nothing either. Only after I go up to the top area and click on the 3 lines or to the sprocket and touch there and come back out can I then go back down to the bottom and click the temp or fan button and it then works. Consistently every time these are the steps I have to take in order to change the temperature but only on the upstairs setting, not the down. This never happens on my husbands Samsung phone. I’ve updated the app so many times through the hub and this glitch never goes away and it’s been well over a year now since this has been happening. I’ve changed cell phones to a new iPhone and still the same issue. I wish someone would fix this. Thank you for listening.

Terrible cameras and detection.. I’ve had vivint for nearly a year now and I’ll say it’s not worth the money. The security is great with lock door features and the options of alarming the house when your away, however we really hoped the cameras would be better than Rings camera as they said it should, but it’s worse and lacking. We have terrible neighbors and trying to build a case against them we need our cameras to record any movement in our front and backyard. When we had ring we can save the footage whenever we went to live camera mode as well as talk through our back camera, and the detection sensitivity was so high it even start recording when a cat was detected in our backyard, but vivint don’t even have that feature let alone high sensitivity detection. Vivint never records whenever something is detected in our backyard or porch even when I put the settings to high sensitivity. We always have huge time gaps in our camera recording time. Even when using the app and we need to check the cameras it never fully work or we get a message saying the vivint system is having troubles. For the money and trouble we spent on this service I expected better at the end we still continue to use our Ring regardless of having Vivint that’s how terrible I feel it is.

Great design, great concept, great execution!!!. The app itself is very useful and comes in handy all the time. I have the smart lock, the smart doorbell, and 2 cameras and they work perfectly. The cameras give me good quality pictures and video plus there is less than a 1 second delay with the live video when monitoring from my phone. The motion-activated sensor on the doorbell works very well during the day, evening, or night even when the front porch light is off. The microphone and speaker on the doorbell makes it easy and safe to communicate with people I don’t know who approach my door. If I see someone trying to break in from the camera, it gives me the option to take a live picture from my phone and it automatically records movement picked up by the cameras. The app gives me notifications without delay for everything that happens inside and around my home whether it’s the doorbell being rung, the door being opened, motion from the cameras, my alarm system being armed and disarmed, or even my door being locked and unlocked. They really thought of everything to give you the maximum protection against threats or otherwise. I highly recommend Vivint for your home security and the Vivint app for easy access and extra insurance for the security of your home and the people you live with. (P.S. the alarm noise is REALLY, REALLY LOUD!!)

Aggressive Sales, Poor Product, Disappointing Customer Service. While the representative who sold us on this system was very compelling, our experience with Vivint has been anything but. The install process took over six hours— no information was communicated about the lengthy process involved when sold the system. There are frequent issues with the app requiring restarting. One of our cameras has not been working for over a month and technical support is very frustrating to deal with over chat, as they make you repeat previous troubleshooting steps that failed to correct the problem despite you telling them that. Then they have the audacity to upsell you on products when making an appointment for a specialist to come out to your house which is incredibly insulting— why would I want to buy more junk products that barely work from a company that clearly cares more about its bottom line than providing the functionality it promised its customers? The specialist no-showed for the appointment scheduled with a representative via chat, and when calling support we found out the appointment had apparently been rescheduled without ANY communication from Vivint. Extremely disappointed with the experience I’ve had with this company and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Garbage. This app use to only mess up on me occasionally but now it won’t even work. I’ve deleted and redownloaded several times, and customer is awful and can’t or wont help either. Spent over two hours on the phone with them and they fixed nothing. Their support through the app was unprofessional and very sarcastic when trying to “help” me. The app now will take 5-10 seconds to even load the live footage so whatever was detected is already moved or gone. The playback won’t work on my phone but will on all other devices. It’s so pixely as well even when on the clearer setting. The app won’t let me change anything in the settings unless I use another device or the panel. It simply went to doodoo in the last few weeks and customer service is doing NOTHING to fix it. They gave me a ticket number but nothing came of it. It’s takes a million years to get customer service on the phone. I pay way too much money a month for this to not work properly and them doing nothing to fix it. I’m over this company and I wish I wasn’t in this garbage of a contract if they can’t get their stuff together and fix these simple issues many people seem to be having.

Please bring back Status View. The app is good! A few tiny bugs but usually very stable and reliable. Unfortunately and more importantly please! Please bring back Status View on the the Hub. Not sure what the issue is with deactivating the status view. I really miss it! My kids miss it too. We want the option of activating it or deactivating it. Please Vivint give us back control of the status view! I’ll give you 5 Stars when you do. Update: Vivint has totally removed the Status View from the HUB! Are you guys planning to replace it with a more stable or similar view? Or are you completely done with it? I don’t understand the need to totally get rid of it. The explanation on the panel makes no sense. You guys update all the time but they’re still connection issues with the cameras. Dropped recordings. Communication via the microphone to the doorbell camera whether on your phone or using the control panel is “sometimish.” Something so simply like the ability to always see the time/clock and constant weather is appreciated. Not to mention it would go a long way with most of your clients. Just bring it back please!

Great when it works. I’ve had the Vivint system for about 6 months now and it’s been decent, but the app needs major improvement. At least once a week I will have to manually lock doors, close the garage, or arm/disarm the system. Which I know sounds like I’m just being lazy, but it’s the times when I need to access these things remotely that it becomes an issue. I’ve had items delivered to my home or needed to give a repair person access while I’m at work and I’ve gone to access the app and it simply refuses to connect to my system at all and that’s incredibly frustrating. There’s times when I’m in my driveway trying to arm my system after I’ve locked my doors and closed my garage and I go to arm my system and it won’t cooperate, so I have to go back inside and do everything manually. Whats the point of home automation when you’re app refuses to cooperate with the hub, which in turn negates the convenience of your app? If the convenience of the app is a big selling point for Vivint’s system for you like it was for me when I was shopping systems maybe look elsewhere because it’s definitely not the convenience they claim.

The dashboard could be more useful.. I have been using the app now for a week and found some annoyances. Mainly in the dashboard. I feel like it could be more customizable. I would like to have the option of the dashboard returning back to the security screen when I open the app every time, or any specific screen the customer would want to see when they open the app. Secondly, the security screen should have the option to add light/ room switches to the security screen for ease of use. I have ten Phillips bulbs in six rooms and this app does not make me want to go to it to operate those switches. Which doesn’t really make this the smart home controller that I was sold on. Third, I believe camera notifications for people detection should have a link to the video recording. Makes no sense to read the notification and then have to go somewhere else in the app to see the video. Lastly, the administration portion of the app does not work well. Initially when setting up the camera to my specifications, the app would pop up errors of configuration failed, but when setting it up on the panel, there was no issues. Fortunately, I now have it setup to my liking. For a lesser tech savvy person, I could see this as ver frustrating. I understand the connections between admin trough the internet and admin through Zwave, but not all users are tech savvy. And I also understand that there is tech support that can be called, but why should I need them if the product was simpler to use?

Application and installation. I’m sure this is a great company. I think they have done away with master electricians because the system is no longer being installed right with the electrical wires inside the walls. It is being installed with a plug. I have personally one on accident bumped the plug and it has been disconnected from the main monitoring system. I left and then the monitoring company called me to tell me it was disarmed and I had worked 18 hours that way and it was really inconvenient. I’m thinking about switching over to a company that will do a different job. As far as the application, the menus are not at all user-friendly. For example I have brinks at home and I can program it very easily to tell me who is opening the door who is not opening the door. To give them certain privileges. On the Vivint Application it is so difficult to figure out where the setting is, even then you’re guessing because it is not clear in any way shape or form. I think this is something the company can work on as I think they already have a big customer base. It would be nice for me at least because I am legally blind and needed a more user friendly company to work with. As far as a service, the people that work for this company are excellent people and have never had an issue so far to work with them.

Terrible experience. I have had Vivint since 2017. I have had roughly 30-40 different issues that required a technician to come out to fix. My house was deemed a 1 percent house. That means I have a team and a technician assigned to my house. They have replaced cameras several times replacing the wireless bridges several times currently they said they are having firmware issues and have given me free service since the features are not working. I have spent countless hours on the phone dealing with these issues. I have had a open work order for 3 weeks. I can not get anyone to call me back, so I emailed several contacts that were available online and still no contact from anyone. I have called the regional manager yesterday that is his last week there and still no response. I will be switching over to adt or different company soon. The problem is not all security companies have the options that Vivint does. The 5 cameras 2 doorbell cameras thermostat deadbolt locks the month of storage. I just wish they would figure out what the issue is so I can keep there service. I would just like to know if others are experiencing the same issues and the lack of wanting to honor the lifetime warranty. They are trying to make me purchase 2 new doorbells and 2 pro cameras. When there are nothing wrong with the new ones they put up last month. If I needed new equipment they should have replaced it when they put the old style doorbell instead of the version 1.

I really don’t like the app. Oftentimes, the app doesn’t work, or stops functioning correctly; like the cameras going offline. I have to constantly uninstall the app and reinstall it again. I just literally had to reinstall it at this very moment. There have been instances that I was out in a rural area and I couldn’t turn off my alarm. My husband would come home (he doesn’t know the passcode, crazy I know) and he ended up having to subjected to the alarm sound for 2 hours until I got home to turn it off. My cameras go offline quite a bit too. My alarm had several false alarms and they tried contacting me thru texts, email and I think phone calls (not sure about the calls), but NO ONE sent the authorities neither time! And I am locked in with a contract for 2 or 3 more years (5 years, unbeknownst to me). And customer service can only give so much help, like help you to troubleshoot. It’s having to go thru what I’ve stated in this review again, and again, and again that it starts to be a pain in the rear end. I would have given it a higher rate had I not been going through all these issues for the past 3 years.

No Landscape??. I write and work using my IPad. I use a case with a keyboard. It is always with me. Everything works great and I love Vivint. Customer service is very awesome. My Doorbell Cam, indoor camera’s etc. all work with very little down time. Always easy to reset. I use one Camera to help take care of my Elderly mother who has severe Dementia. We can make sure she is alright and we can talk to her using the camera. She can’t answer the phone anymore. Vivint as a company gets 5 stars from me. But, until this app has Landscape mode it only gets a 1 from me. If some rings doorbell or I get a notification I have to try and get my IPad out of its case. Or flip everything to see it. Very irritating. I have an IphoneX too. The app is awesome for it I love it. I do not need the phone when writing on the IPad. In fact I often do not want it to disturb me. I have to keep it near me now. This app is basically useless to me. My Ipad is very new. I love it. I guess I expected it look like my panel. It is Landscape. Hopefully Vivint will fix this soon. I did give it a 1. It works awesome if my Ipad is not in its case.

Frustrations with Apple Watch App. Every time I attempt to use Vivint from My Apple Watch it tells me to sign into Vivint using my iPhone. I am already and always signed in on my iPhone, so as soon as I open the app Vivint is available for use on my watch (sometimes because this has issues as well). Here is what’s frustrating…..if I have to use my phone to open the Vivint app on my watch there is then no need to use the app on my watch, I might as well use the app on the phone to perform actions. I use the Vivint app on my watch for convenience, having to also use my phone removes this convenience. Is Vivint getting away from having the app accessible on Apple Watches? If so, I can uninstall the Watch app and recondition myself to use my phone, but if this is not so please create an update to fix this. This issue has been present for weeks now, but as of recent I have also not been getting notifications on my watch about activity at my home regarding my alarm system and/or doorbell which is concerning. Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My Vivint review. My wife and I started with Vivint 2 years ago. The salesman was very informative and kind and we decided to go with Vivint. The man who installed our system was nice and funny but he was higher than a kite and he drilled multiple holes all over our brick because he was installing the camera doorbell system wrong and it took him 5 different times and 10 holes later.. it still today looks terrible and unprofessional throughout the house. Until this past weekend our doorbell system was off line 90% of the time and didn’t provide a picture at all. My wife and I have both been on the phone with Vivint troubleshooting for hours at a time before they would send anyone else to install a new one. This last week we had a young gentleman who was very kind and professional and saw several different issues from the last guy and fixed it then and there. He was awesome! All that being said we like how the system works and functions (when it works). And other than the installer and the customer service/network issues we are happy with Vivint.

Vivint support and devices. BUYER BEWARE!!! Warning!!! If you read this…Take a look at the real reviews on BBB and Business complaints website The positive reviews are likely from Vivint themselves. DONT BUY, YOU’LL REGRET IT! Currently, they’ve restricted tech support on my account. Who does this to a customer buying their product and it doesn’t work! They’ve given no reason real reason as to why and I’ve only had them since March 2022. They use alternative offers to keep until your 2 weeks expire or tell you you have 3days to cancel. Only 2 techs arrived to care for the problems, so now they won’t send anyone without the area supervisors approval. Puzzling and angry with this company.! They’ve been sued for fraud, read about!!! Don’t Buy!! My system would not connect online. It reboots from the app and when I look at my system there is no rebooting process from the panel. The cameras are blurry and many time the visuals deletes without you doing so. This system is hacked and I can’t rely on them for support; always, whenever I call I’m told they have to wait for a response from this area tech supervisor and no one calls me back as promised. Buyer regret!

Pros and cons. Was told it ran off of more than just my WiFi but my camera’s frequently require rebooting cuz they stop working or can’t connect. The ring camera isn’t super great, I wish the picture was better especially in the dark. I will say though, there have been 2 situations where I was super glad to have the service, both situations required police presence. It has also come in handy that I can speak to people outside through the camera. That has actually helped a few times. I’m disappointed bc I never saw a credit from the referral, It should have been like $250 credit for me signing up after 30 days and then the couple was supposed to get a $250 credit for referring me. They never got their credit either. Also one of the items I initially ordered wouldn’t work for my house so they came back and got it but my month payment never changed and I never saw a credit for the item. It has its pros and cons but I suggest looking around and pricing before signing any contracts.

I’m losing my patience. I’ve intentionally held back from leaving a review for months just so I could fully evaluate this app. I got their service in January. So, now let me share my experience. The app and cameras go offline every 1-2 hours per day. I’m very tech savvy, but my experience thus far takes the cake. I’m not impressed and I spend more time I. The phone troubleshooting the issue. Only to discover that I end up with a solution vs the reps. You guys have to hire a more competent staff and fix this app!!! Goodness, it’s so unstable. I can’t even look at the live view after updating to the percentage buffer when the video is loading via my doorbell. I met with constant error messages. Do more testing or get better beta testers to ensure the app will work before releasing it. This is ridiculous. I’m beyond annoyed at this point!!! 😤 Update 11/2 I don’t understand why you all would remove the ability to reset the panel from the phone. It was helpful having that feature. Now if the panel is down and I’m checking my home from the phone. Everyday I have to call you all to fix it because the panel goes offline every single day. Stop removing things and focus on making the app experience more stable. Apparently your beta testers and the app developers need to do a better job before releasing these updates because the app becomes more and more useless every release.

This company is a scam and doesn’t deserve 4.5 stars. First off I just wanted to say that these people lie. I was home one day and a salesmen came to my door and presented me with Vivint, a cutting edge security system that can control your thermometer, lights, motion detector and has a doorbell that records videos. It all sounded amazing so I decided to purchase it. The very next day the system lost WiFi, so I couldn’t even access the system while I was at work. I was told it would still record even while it was offline, which was a lie. I called the service team and was told that they couldn’t fix it. I then had to call the guy would sold me the system and he came over, told me that apparently they received a batch of faulty panels from the manufacturer and they just needed to replace it. That night a technician came over to replace the motherboard, which did not fix the issue. After about 2 hours they decided to replace it with a brand new, “hasn’t even been released to the public” smart hub panel. The seller told me that this new model wouldn’t have any issues. Only a week had passed before another issue with the smart hub panel came up. It is an inconvenience on me to have to call multiple times a month to have any issues with this system taken care of. This security system is not worth buying and I wish I never had.

Couldnt be happier. We had a new Vivint system installed a week ago and could not be happier. The app has functioned perfectly for us, arming, disarming, viewing live cameras, play back of previous footage, search of old footage (we do have the sky monkey which allows 30 days storage), we use the app to lock and unlock doors and also we have connected our Hue Bridge and can control our lights with the app as well. We have set up custom actions that work like a charm. Things as detailed as, when system is disarmed from keypad, turn kitchen and living room lights in 50% for 30 minutes. When I needed help adding the hue bridge, I used the support option in app and chatted with an agent. It was 11pm, I had 13 people ahead of me and I had about a 5 minute wait time. Not bad. They helped and resolved immediately. The next day when I needed help on adding a user I did same chat, I had 5 ahead of me and took maybe a minute. We are just completely pleased with our equipment, our sales person Mitch, our installer Ben, the customer service agents and this app. It has worked perfectly for us.

A lot of issues so far. Let me start by saying, I wanted my comment nickname to be “frustrated customer” and it was taken…. Not a good start…. We recently had our system installed. It’s our first time having a Vivint system, and have had several issues. The installation technician did not put batteries in the thermostat, and when they were finally installed it caused all other devices (including the A/C) to crash, because the system had not been “calibrated properly”. No doorbell or cameras either. They wouldn’t send a tech out until they walked us through troubleshooting it over the phone. When I say I spent a FRUSTRATING hour and a half on the phone, it’s an understatement.. We were then told that a technician wasn’t available for two weeks. Which meant no air conditioning for two weeks, in August, in Oklahoma!! Then we were told they would wave the service fee and that we “probably won’t owe anything”. SERIOUSLY?? It was never installed properly. Why would us owing anything even be considered?? After throwing a big fit, they were able to get someone out in three days. The new technician showed us features and codes we had not been shown at installation. This company has some improvements to make.

App is great when system functions correctly. We absolutely love the app when the Vivint system is functioning correctly. Mainly the video doorbell constantly stops working and the Sky Panel has to be rebooted to get the video functioning again which is very annoying. Technicians have been out several times, get it working only for it to stop working again sometimes hours, days or weeks later. My guess is that the Skye panel itself may need updating because my internet/WiFi works excellently. Only this time, the video is working on the Sky Panel but not on the app. So this issue may be a problem with the app. Also, we have a 2nd indoor camera that never worked after the technicians left our home. It may stay on 30 mins or less then goes offline. I think that Vivint needs to update all video components to their system. The remaining components are stable and works perfectly. We receive a lot of package deliveries which is why we need the video doorbell to work consistently. We love the system but may consider switching to a different company that can offer comparable services on a more stable system.

GREAT APP.... PEACE OF MIND!. I love this app. It is always working work no lag time or glitches. The options that are available are very helpful and there are dozens to choose from. I can leave the housefor the night or weekend and know exactly when my mom comes and goes, out of which door and that she’s home safe when she sets the alarm. I think the best option on the app is the setting to arm and disarm the system automatically on specific days and specific times. We don’t ever have to worry about the alarm being set when we’re home at night if we forget to set it manually. And there’s no more panicking when we’re not fully awake yet in the morning if we open a door and forget to disarm the system first, because it’s already disarmed when we are ready to leave the house for the day! Thank you so very much VIVINT, your security system and app gives us one less thing to have to worry about!💯

Batteries die constantly. Very ok service for the money. Everything is do-it-yourself and if u need a tech forget about it as they will charge you to fix the equipment which breaks constantly. Batteries die in these things like every week. Techs have the house rigged up all wrong and too hard to change it myself so have to live with it. Would give less stars but have no real basis for comparison and when one calls the people are pretty cool unless u get to a supervisor ... they are not so cool. Tech was very nice but overworked and clearly didn't understand what we needed. App is fine when it works but like right now it won't show videos for 3 days - this is a recurring issue that usually fixes itself at some point but can take weeks at a time. Update: app won't open even with update. Business model remains that they can't seem to be profitable without screwing the customer so beware when signing up that if u ever need tech they will charge u for coming out - even though it is their faulty product. Also - sun up and down should not set off visitor alarm every single time so I get 127,542 alerts in a 30 minute period.

Couldn’t of asked for a better service. When I applied for Vivint I was skeptical at first only because I was i’m familiar with the company, but my friend had their whole system hooked up in their house and I was amazed so I decided to give it a try. when I applied, they literally contacted me back within five minutes TOPS of me putting in my application. The customer service was amazing. Although the sales representative didn’t do a very good job at telling me the total cost of the entire equipment, the technician who came to hook it up broke it all down to me and explained everything to the T. The technician (Bronson) who came was the nicest and down to earth guy I could’ve asked for and did a amazing job at explaining how everything worked. He installed everything very quick and asked me questions about where I wanted everything and even gave advice on where the best place to put it was. He did little drilling to make sure there was no damage to the outlets to set up my outside cameras and made sure he cleaned up everything. He accidentally ripped his fingernail but of course we made sure he was okay but he didn’t let that stop him from getting the job done. I couldn’t of asked for a better person for the job. He gave me his contact info incase i had any questions and we both ended the day with a smile on our faces. Thank you Vivint!!!

*Edit #2* Orientation on iPad. Is there a reason that the app is not compatible with landscape mode on an iPad? It would be great to use it as a secondary touchscreen mounted in another room of the house. All of my other smart home apps have the ability to work in portrait or landscape mode. Please work on this, Vivint. Thanks for fixing the issue I stated below regarding the cropped screen. Not sure yet about the Nest functionality. I updated the panel to 3.10 so I’ll have to give it a few more days or weeks before I can tell. I’m glad you guys added support on the app and the panel for Philips Hue lights but what about adding it for the Apple Watch? Any idea when this might be updated?? Thanks in advance! I’m pretty sure the “fix” you guys did for the iPhone X has caused an issue with the resolution on all other iPhones. Whenever I pull up a camera now, the image is lowered at the top and cut off at the bottom. Please fix this for users who haven’t made the leap to the X. Also, I consistently lose connectivity to my Nest. I have talked to tech support and performed a reboot on the Sky Panel at least 6 times and it will work for a few weeks and then stop. It’s not my WIFI.

HIDDEN FEES - HIDDEN SERVICE CONTRACTS. If you’re considering Vivint, don’t!!! This review would be too long to type out my full experience but I paid for my equipment in full up front and was told I would owe $0 on a monthly basis if I paid for my equipment (opposed to financing it). Then got charged $40 a month and called to let them know I paid for my equipment already and they said that $40 was for “monitoring services” so they lowered my monthly bill to $30 a month but apparently upon that phone call it entered me into a contract (I was unaware of and never signed anything). Then I sold my home and they wanted to charge me to move my equipment (that I own and paid for in full already). So I left the equipment with the home and went to cancel my service and they told me I had to BUY OUT MY CONTRACT??! I was wondering “what contract” so upon calling and finding out that I got a lower rate for complaining about the salesman lying to me, that entered me into a contract and I owed $400 in order to cancel. So I paid that fee and then a month later saw they were STILL withdrawing money from my account. This company is full of fees and hidden services contracts and cannot be trusted

Customer Service is the worst I have ever experienced.. They sold us try to install it that night, but it was just becoming too late at night 10 o’clock is too late to install equipment said someone would come back the next day they showed later that afternoon and didn’t leave until almost 10 o’clock that night. Someone said they would come back tomorrow and fix the cord they had installed in the garage bring the smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector as well as my fathers life alert no one ever showed. I followed up a couple times a week was never able to get anybody to contact me until I literally was on hold being transferred within five hours at a minimum to get someone to finally come to my home, they never showed. The next day I called I was on hold with someone trying to figure out what happened for three hours promised someone would come out tomorrow between the hours of eight and 12 to deliver the equipment that was missing and fix the cord in the garage, No one ever showed. I called a few more times and felt like I was just getting a run around . Now I’m probably going to have to call again and be on the phone for five hours just to get somebody to come out. If this happens again I will 100% percent will get rid of this equipment and get somebody else more reliable.

IMPRESSIVE!!!. From DAY ONE, I was and still am, impressed with the VIVINT HOME SECURITY SYSTEM! This is not only a great investment, it’s a smart investment!! Worth every penny and then some!! Camera quality is clear, live video feed is up to date within seconds, microphone is as clear as a phone call or any high quality intercom system, and the monitoring from various vantage points is top notch!! And you can check and monitor EVERYTHING from any smart device; cell phone, laptop, tablet!! With videos and the ability to take pictures of people lurking around the property or at the front or back door, you’ll never be in the dark, as to who, when, what and where!! PLUS, motion sensors and blaring loud alarms inside your property, trigger a call to the police!! I recommend this system whether you live in a home, condo or renting!! VIVINT is like having a live- in, big beefy security guard!! But one who doesn’t eat you out of house and home!! Bottom line: GET THIS SYSYEM, IT WORKS!!!

It’s ok. Don’t always get alerted of “visitors”, and definitely does not detect everything and the voice mode on the doorbell rarely ever works. I do enjoy the special doorbell chimes for the holidays and the clarity on the doorbell cameras. The cost is high for what it is and don’t like the reinstall fee whenever we move since I was initially told in the beginning I wouldn’t be charged for moves (but more than likely, the sales person was just trying to get a sale). There has been a lot of improvement from with their employees compared to when we first signed up for this, so that is good. Also do not like that the installers keep saying we requested info on insurance when we haven’t, which in turn leads to lots of phone calls 🙄 Pros: camera clarity, holiday doorbell chimes, easy use of app, generally easy to troubleshoot basic things Cons: cost, voice mode often does not work, doesn’t always detect people/movements, phone calls related to insurance, reinstall fee with moves, sales people will say anything to get you to purchase and are not always truthful

Doesn’t always work. Initially when I got the system I thought the images were awesome and great but now something has changed. My daytime images almost look black and white I can’t even tell the different colors or shades that are outside which will be a problem when trying to describe someone to the police. I can’t tell what color they have on or what color a car is because there’s no color in my camera anymore. Also my system has disconnected from the Wi-Fi many times. The last time my system disconnected they could not get it to reconnect and had to come out and service my panel and that took a whole week to get an appointment . For that entire week I wasn’t able to view my security system from the app while I was at work or away from home it was a awful feeling. I got a $15 credit ... woohoo! Smdh My water sensor went out weeks ago and it takes at least eight weeks to get a new one so I haven’t had a water sensor for almost 2 months. Its exhausting to deal with this system and I’ve only had it about four or five months and I’m regretting purchasing it. About to call them again and try to figure out why I have Black and white images with no color on my camera.

Crashes. App crashes often when trying to review some of the saves videos. Positive is that it is quick and easy to alarm or disable the system.

Good but some issues.. For some reason as of May 16th, 2023 the timestamp dots (upon detection) have disappeared. Not sure why, must be a with a recent update? Either way, generally the app is decent with scrubbing when fast forwarding/rewinding to a part. Sometimes the app can be a bit glitchy and freeze but nothing too annoying.

Vivint app demo. Vivint app demo There is no doorbell 2gen there is the doorbell gen1 but not the 2gen add it to the app please Vivint

Horrible update to this app. I’m a vivint customer for more than 5 years. Since vivint has updated this app the experience has turned for satisfaction to horror. This app is so bad, so unstable , constantly glitching I’m speechless. Vivint please! Fix this app now.

This company sucks don’t but their services. This company sucks don’t but their services

Mr. Not good

Garage. It goes on offline and online

Biggest rip off of your life!. Don’t even. You’re locked into a contract for years and can’t cancel it until you’ve paid off a HUGE balance. Biggest regret! Customer service is not good either.

Great watch stuff at home when out. Good so far

Inconvenient. Takes forever to load, super glitchy, when it do load up to watch live feed it keeps cutting out and asking if we’re still watching. Don’t recommend Vivint to anyone.

Run like hell!. By far the worst service we’ve ever had. Grossly over priced, app regularly fails, customer service is horrible.

service. horrible service since telus has taken over vivint. our doorbell hasn’t worked in 5 weeks. 6 hours on the phone talking to “customer service” was a complete fail. we will definitely not recommend vivint to anyone. why didn’t the system notify vivint that our doorbell/camera wasn’t working? what if there was a break in at our house? very disappointed in you vivint/telus.

Great service. Calling Vivint is & expecting to get a answer or a problem solved is like trying to call god 🤷‍♂️

Problems. The biggest problem is the cameras don’t load, play back takes forever to load and when you try to load it, it didn’t record most of the day. Cameras go offline often( more then once a day if not most of the day). Had it where I tried to disarm the house but wouldn’t let me every time I tried to disarm it and dose it as well when I try to arm it.

Where’s the support. After install they just disappear. Our system has communication errors and no one’s around to fix the issues.

Cameras. Cannot view any live feed of my cameras

Crappy system. This system sucks and do not recommend to anyone. Takes camera action when it wants will not allow to monitor with IPad as it continually asks are you still watching. Customer service is so badI stopped calling them. Just want out of this system sooner the better

Cameras. Cameras keep going offline. Tried rebooting several times. Nothing works

It’s ok. I find ever since Telus took over the app doesn’t work as well, it’s always loading and our alarm armed itself then went off when my child went downstairs.. I had a babysitter over who had no idea what to do because it shouldn’t have happened. My child was upset and worried about going downstairs for awhile.

Definitely need to add on the fan option a time selection not just on and off. The Vivint app has worked well. would like to see a few small features added though😁 like being able to control my fan to stop in 30 minutes one hour two hours three hours four hours🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

The best security system out there …. Vivint staff, professional both in service and technical support. Thank you for always being there. I’m sorry to learn of the buyout here in Canada. I will definitely miss y’all. Take care n god bless. Rv.

Great!. Since new equipment has been installed it is a joy to use! Very convenient and easy to use

Does not reflect what is happening on the panel. The app will not match up with the panel , ie… thermostat read 20*and holding when I open the app it say 19* and cooling also ridiculously laggy on the camera loading on both

Really horrendous app. Randomly won’t start, and when it does, it takes forever to do it. Takes ages to connect to a live feed on cameras, which is really useless when truing to use the doorbell camera. Glitchy interface truing to talk through a camera like a doorbell cam. Buttons are too close to each other making it hard to use. App doesn’t respect my font size choice on my phone. Half of the time notifications aren’t being delivered like “Someone just rang your doorbell” until literally FIFTEEN minutes later. To make matters worse, this is now the only way to connect to your security system’s because they took away the online portal and left this travesty of coding in its place.

Review. Most of the time there is such a delay they person is gone before I can even answer. Often the cameras go off line and it’s just plain frustrating.

How come. Ever since Telus took over my panel has been losing connection.

Won’t open. I just downloaded the update and now my app won’t even open! Not impressed.

Furious. Had our carport camera stolen! When we asked if they would replace it or give a discount, they refused. We all did the new update and now the app takes FOREVER to load. Seriously thinking of finding another security company as Vivint’s customer service has gone downhill fast this past year. Why pay for a system that constantly has issues????

App not good any more. App used to be very good. Now I’m having to open and close app to be able to see my clips. Clips also do not always load or record videos.

Cameras only function part time. The cameras are very on and off with service. I’m not confident in the system that the cameras will work while I’m away since I’ve had people show up and the cameras were not triggered at all. I currently have 2 outdoor cameras and a doorbell camera. I feel that if the doorbell is not rang the camera doesn’t pick anything up even when set to the highest sensitivity. Would not recommend

I like it when it works. This alarm system has given me a lot of trouble. From going off for no reason in the middle of the night, to opening doors on its own for no reason and constant error messages. Cheap components with the exception of the panel are also the issue.

Useless. Same issue that people are complaining about. I can’t rely on this security system. Every time I Open the security cam it keeps loading and it’s glitching. Then when I go to play back it takes forever to load or it won’t open. This has been on going for years now. We’re planning on switching on a different security system once we paid off Vivint because apparently they don’t accept cancelation on the spot.

Terrible service. Was on hold 3 hours trying to speak with Loyality dept .. tried 4 times

Glitchy playback. Between the driveway camera and doorbell camera the last few months I’ve hardly been able to use the playback function. What is the point of having cameras if you can’t play back the video.

Alright. Definitely could be better. Does the job.

Vivint. Find system great but do think if tech comes out it shouldn’t cost a thing if problems occur with there equipment it should be replaced at no cost because the equipment is theirs other then that I have found system to be great and online chat support has been helpful in fixing most issues

Options.. I would really like if I could make Vivint to talk with My Alexa system.

Not satisfied with the service. Few times already I have people coming to my place And I have seen them I’ll try to review it and camera But the playback was not available I have another property Also covered with same security system Some people try to ring my doorbell I was trying to answer, but the mic is not working Do you guys have sort of maintenance to check on the system or just collecting money monthly that’s all?

App is broken. This app is far from being good. It’s never had an update since the initial download.

Review. You guys have the worse equipment and service ever

Laggy. Freaking laggy. Always loading… Too much bugs and never fixed. No improvement at all, it’s been 3yrs like this.

Won’t fix their products. Our system is Brooke and all they do is send you parts to fix it. Well we are not techs and can’t fix ourselves. However we still have to pay monthly for a service that does not work.

As long as you’re there…. It seems to work better when you’re home. If something goes wrong with your doorbell camera, you can’t fix it unless you’re at home. Frustrating when you’re 3 hours away!!

Not impressed. For a home security app, this is really glitchy. App takes for ever to load, can’t open cameras playback not available at times etc. Vivint! Do Better!!

Costumer’s service dishonesty. When u try to cancel their service they first lie to force u pay half of the rest contract, but the things on the contract say u have right to cancel. Then after u realize that is a lie, u send the cancellation letter to them they never ever process it, the billing still continues and if u want a refund? Go find it in ur dream. Never choose this company.

Gary hunt. There billing is bad and their customer service. I would not recommend this company to anyone….

Trash. Service is garbage had tech out here for the same problem 2 times and still the same issue can’t wait till contract is over to get rid of this shut

GREAT service!. Yes, we’ve had a few issues. But Vivent ha been there to help us work it out. Two years in they replaced all hardware, just to rule out any problems there. LOVE the guys they have working for them; they are ALL knowledgeable about the product....would definitely recommend.

It’s okay. Usually when I need it to work (eg someone is at my doorbell or heaven forbid in my yard) the app is ridiculously slow. There have also been times where the alarm is very slow to turn off - I’m in the house, I think the alarm has been turned off, but then all of a sudden the alarm goes off and the app and panel is slow to respond.

Crashes on launch after update, multiple devices. Fortunately the watch app still works but it’s only a matter of time as the moment the phone app says ‘try again’, the watch app will stop working as well.

Fantastic System. The system goes together nicely. I love the convenience of locking my door and setting my alarm from away. The cameras detect motion and give me the video and peace of mind I was looking for when leaving or staying. Purchasing this system is super simple. I love the fact that you can pick and choose each part to your smart, security system. It is made to fit YOUR needs and inexpensive to add items. The best part of purchasing this inexpensive system was the staff. From the initial meeting with Chase, to the tech Mike coming after I changed the time of the appointment last minute, to the assistance with any technical issues or questions... you name it, they have gone above and beyond. I recommend this to anyone looking for a cost efficient yet quality security (and smart) system!

Peace of mind. The outdoor camera pro is a hit and doesn’t miss a beat when detecting passerby’s. The new doorbell camera is good but it would be great if it worked out a slight and occasional lag when viewing clips for my hard drive playback. I think it might need to work out some software final touches because the doorbell camera just rolled out. My wife loves that the doorbell camera deters and alerts me whenever someone comes around and I’m at work and it’s just her. My vivint also linked through my garage myQ so I can control my garage from my vivint app also which I thought was cool. Overall we have much more peace of mind now with the system whether we are home or away. The 24/7 hard drive is a must to access footage any time of the day in the event I had to pull a clip of a passing suspect vehicle to show authorities. If the doorbell camera didn’t have the occasional lag during playback I would give it 5+.

Don’t Buy—read comment. Don’t waste your money on these cameras for many reasons. They do not catch everything. We have had people come up to our front door while being home and did not record or notify. We have had many of these issues. The cameras are not clear and choppy on playback. They charged us for playback from the get go and did not activate it. When they came out to see what was going on they could not figure out why the camera does not do playback and still doesn’t. We NEVER got credit for what we were paying for and didn’t get. Our cheaper Zmodo cameras did a much better job of recording everything and had a much clearer playback. The customer service has been horrible as well. We researched the feedback and thought we were getting the best—NOT so. They pressured us into buying this and when they come out for a service tried pressuring us into buying other services. BEWARE!

Actually 4 stars rating. I agree with “Marty mcfly1” , Vivint delivers excellent service. There was one negative thing though, the “alarm horn” is not as loud as my former alarm company system. I was very disappointed when they disconnected the rival’s alarm horn ( you could hear a block away) and put in a Vivint alarm horn which you can only hear inside the house or maybe next door if you are quiet ☹️. Vivint’s panel was moved to another wall for best signal location and the wiring was not completely installed inside the wall. I was not happy about that. 7 cameras later, 3 inside and 4 outside plus keypad lock and numerous sensors have me satisfied with Vivint and it’s monitoring service. It has been close to 15 years of service now and I can honestly say that Vivint is a reputable and reliable service. Quick to resolve any and all issues.

Not happy. My husband was out of state working when I got my system. I let them know that I only probably needed it for a short period of time before they installed it, so I made sure to ask if there was a contract. I was told i did not have to be stuck in a contract with this company and that if I wanted to end my service I would just have to pay for the equipment that was $1,400. After my husband got home I called to have the service shut off and pay for the equipment and they told me that my contract wasn’t up for two years and that if I shut it off I would have to pay $2,900 for equipment and service. When I told them I was told I didn’t have to be in a contract they told me I was informed wrong and will still have to pay?? On top of that every time I get on to see what’s going on in my house because I have kids at home while I work, the videos always delay and I can’t speak to my kids like I’m supposed to be able to do.

Poor Service. Not only did we go through quite an ordeal of getting a technician to our home to install the equipment we order weeks ago. The system has not correctly worked since the technician left. He apparently knew that our modem was too far away from the vivint panel. He even made a comment about the distance. I believe he used his iPad/laptop equipment as a hot spot to boost the signal between the router he installed and the new panel. He then went through the demonstration of the new panel. After he left I notice the panel started communicating that it had no signal to the WiFi. I’ve reached out to Vivint for assistance and after a great deal of time on the phone with support, they were unable to help. They are sending a signal booster, so I have to wait. Mean while I have some expensive new equipment that I can’t use. The camera in the backyard also keep detecting someone in the back yard when no one is there. I hope I don’t continue to regret my decision to stay with Vivint by upgrading my equipment.

Not happy with camera constantly going off line. I’ve had my Vivint system only a week & the driveway camera goes off line almost every day. At first it was only an hour or so & then went back on line by itself. Help line can’t explain why & they can’t help you troubleshoot unless your home. So today the system was offline for 8 hours while I was at work. I was able to get it back on line with their help tonight but couldn’t believe the fix. The solution, unplug the camera at the outlet for 1 minute & then plug it back in. Am I going to have to do this every day? If this keeps up, I’ll have to consider if it’s worth paying for a system that’s not giving me the service I’m paying for. #shoddyequipment?

Just flat out poor customer service.. Been a Vivint customer for several years now and while it was pretty decent when we first started out, it all goes downhill from there. This past summer we decided we wanted to add another camera to the front of the house facing our driveway. Instead, the put it on the farthest corner of the house where if anyone shows up, you could get a good face picture of them. They said it was impossible to put a camera where I wanted unless there was a power outlet close by in the attic. Obviously, they don’t have wireless cameras. Now all of a sudden our cameras don’t work with our Vivint hard drive so there isn’t any way to playback anything we want to see. Been trying for months to get this issue corrected to no avail. Our son has bought his own place and needed a security system so we bought some Blink cameras from Lowes and we couldn’t be happier with the results. After we get our equipment paid off we’ll be making the switch as well.

Good the bad and the ugly. The good: I like the fact that I can control my system from my phone. I love the clarity of the videos and I love love the spotlights that chase you around in the yard. It reminds me of that song when I move you move. Lol, just like that! The bad: The installation guy did a terrible job. He did not put my equipment where I requested. While I was upstairs cleaning the spot for him to put the camera he was downstairs installing it where I asked him not to put it. He said he would come back and move my cameras but he never did. The ugly: this is a wired system but they forget to mention it’s a wire attached to a huge box that you plug into your wall sockets. It’s horrible. When the salesman told me a wire system I assumed (my fault for assuming)it was going in the wall and down to the electric box or something. Not on the exterior of my wall, exposed to for everyone to see, including the intruders.

Meets our expectation. Shopped for a security system for our house that we could do ourselves, and got very frustrated with the wireless systems and the battery the liability in our cold climate. I didn’t want to have to be climbing on a ladder in the winter time with the snow and ice just to replace or we charge a battery. We stumbled upon Vivint through a door to door sales person and listened to his pitch. It was very noninvasive and they could install a system within a couple of hours that afternoon! So far the system has met heart expectations, the cameras are placed strategically where we can watch the sides of our house and backyard. We can also observe the dogs activities. The app itself has been very good while we are out to Chuck camera and dog activity. Garage door system is very efficient, so we are pleased the Sphar.

How to Fix panel and cameras WiFi issues. If anyone is having issues like I did and technical service couldn’t help you This is what I had to do. After a year in a half of my panel/camera and WiFi not communicating correctly I finally fixed it myself. First step is if You already tried resetting your router and unplugging it multiple times and every other device connects to your internet just fine then it’s not your router it’s your panel and app. ———Steps——— Delete app and Re download app and log back in. This ironically fix the panel WiFi issues. If cameras are having WiFi issues Turn off cameras for 60secs by unplugging them or turning off the breaker (if doorbell camera is hard wired). Power back up your cameras Check to make sure your panel is now connected to cameras. You can do to your settings and click devices or just check the main panel screen. If doorbell doesn’t reconnect you may have to delete the doorbell camera and reboot control panel. If panel doesn’t let you delete camera you may have to reboot first in order to delete. Then once you delete reboot again. (I know it’s a lot of rebooting) Then add the doorbell camera back and follow panel instructions for configuration. Note: when rebooting and re-powering cameras you may have to reconnect to WiFi. Also you may have to delete app and download again after all this just to make sure you don’t panel WiFi issues again.

Sigh. For hours and hours reads garage door is open and reminds you it’s been open too long. But not only is it shut but it jogged on the app trying to find it or being available for hours. I was told to open and close the garage door manually to reset the sensor. Park turn off car. Go thru the front door go to garage open it. Check app get in car go to garage. That’s not why we have this feature. How can you run an entire home system from only one app. With zero ability to do it from computer as an emergency back up. Without the app it’s useless to monitor your home from a distance. “Panel still functions” we need more ability to operate than an app. I can’t image being an elderly customer being asked climb on ladder to do home troubleshooting with the phone techs. Alarms blaring that it’s 47° day and night when in summer nothing is 47° ever period. Be quicker with your customer service and monitor abilities

Overall I like the service. Everything for the most part works well. Having the peace of mind that the system offers is invaluable. Once you have the system on your home and the app on your phone you won’t be able to go back to living without it. At least I can’t. Having the ability to see your home instantly through as many cameras as you wish and knowing when doors and windows are opened. I don’t want to live without it. My only complaint is they advertise “ refer us to a friend and get $200” I have yet to see that and I have referred several friends and family members to get systems. They have used the link I sent them to get started but never got any money or credits to my bill. 🤷‍♂️ But I still give them 5 stars, I’m happy just the same because my friends and loved ones are now protected too.

Vivint Alarm System. We have had Vivint as our home security surveillance after switching from ADT Security. I have been very disappointed with this service and deeply regret leaving ADT. Just last week, we called for assistance with one of our sensors which was malfunctioning and a technician was sent to assist with the repairs. He came and upgraded the system to 5G as well as repairing and replacing the sensor. I thought that 5G would have been a remarkable upgrade. Now the system has long delays in announcing whichever doors are open and at times, it’s difficult to set the alarm (to stay or away), This morning it took an extremely long time to unarmed the system as it’s extremely slow and does not react to the commands which are inputted. Something is extremely wrong with our security system as it’s not functioning properly. Maybe a technician with the experience as Rodney R. who knows what he’s doing would help to correct this ongoing problem. Thank you!

App is Basically Only Good For Arming. I got talked into this system in the summer of 2016 by a fast-talking kid. The appeal was the camera doorbell system and the fact that it operated on WiFi. It worked fine the rest of the summer, but when heating season hit, the heater wouldn’t come on. I was on the line with support several times. Eventually they agreed to send tech support—10 days later!! I had to make do with space heaters in 40 degree temperatures! When the tech guy arrived, he replaced one of the wall units, but the heater still didn’t work. He said the problem was obviously my heater. My heater was fine and is serviced by a professional before the start of the cooling season each year. I ended up calling him while the Vivint tech was there. He nearly freaked because the installer used heating wires to make the a/c work. It could have fried my heater if it was forced on. Lastly, the app seems to have a mind of its own regarding temperature. It periodically refuses to follow the set schedule. I’ll wake up sometimes in the middle of the night roasting and find the heater set to 78 when it should be set to 64. This week it has refused to follow the simple schedule of 66 degrees from 9 am to 11 pm and 64 degrees the rest of time. I try to set it manually, and It says “it failed”. Right now, it has decided not to heat my house, and the inside temperature is falling. I cannot wait until this 5-year contract is over.

Not quite 5 star. I have been using this app every day now for a few months, since getting out system put in. I love the convenience of this app so much, but it does come with a couple glitches....like the garage door opener. Sometimes, the app won’t open the door or close it either, but works fine when you push the button on the wall to work. The app also tells me the garage is open or closed when it’s the opposite of that. Last week I thought I couldn’t get in my home because of this issue, but thankfully the back door was left unlocked. Also, I can’t seem to switch from the app to cooling the house to heating the house. It’s Georgia, so sometimes, we do need the heat and air in November. But I go to the monitor on wall and it works fine. I would say the app still works 90% of the time which isn’t bad. Maybe this update will help...

I didn’t like ADT , so me the BIG Dummy switch to Vivint. I had their system for 2 weeks , 2 weeks and ever day until this past Monday I have had a tech come out, if they didn’t come out I was on the phone , the bell camera hideous , it works when it wants . I have 5 other cameras that go off frequently, I couldn’t stress the fact how important it was for them to protect my children and myself . The cameras came back up after the tech came and reboot but its showing images from almost 2 weeks ago not today not yesterday not this hour if I walked around my house. I won’t go back to ADT , they don’t call you if the power goes out, they should be tracking that, they take your monthly bill to do absolutely nothing but I’m sick of this BS , I haven’t even called them back for my cameras not recording as they say , call for what ? for what ? I don’t need my pressure going up . The only good thing is they on point if that alarm goes off 👎🏽

Playback decided to quit. The cameras work fine but as of two weeks ago, I cannot playback ANY of the recording which are supposed to available for 36hrs if I’m not mistaken. Talked with a vivint expert via live chat but all she told me was to restart the Space Monkey or whatever it’s called now. That didn’t fix the problem. She said our system was not updated to the latest version and that she would update it on her end. She said I should give it 24hrs once updates install. Then I should check if the playback feature works. If they don’t work, I have to call back and they’ll send us a new hard drive but they don’t send technicians out🙄🙄 well, you sure sent one to our door overselling this alarm system and “smart house”. Anyway, I’m Still waiting on the update and it’s been over 24 hours so of course it doesn’t work because they still haven’t updated our system😤😡🤬 I’m still in square one, where I started! 🗣FIX IT

Same issue like everyone else. I’ve only had Vivint for exactly 6 days and the app isn’t being cooperative with my panel. For instance this morning I arm the alarm and on my phone it says it’s disarmed. So I knew something was up. I went inside and the panel told me to disarm the system. So let’s say I get home and my house is on “Stay”, my wife is inside and I check my phone and it’s telling me it’s disarmed. One of us probably might catch a heart attack from the sudden SCREW UP from the over advertised company. 😡 Now currently on the app it’s telling me that if I don’t disarm my alarm it’s going to go off and the speaker is jumping in the top far right corner. I check the camera on the inside of the house and I don’t hear an alarm going off. So it’s messed up in all honesty. I would of rated it higher if this happened in 6 months not 6 DAYS!

Not a big fan. I’m not a fan of the wires everywhere and they refuse to install them in the walls. The app can be glitchy and slow at times which is an issue when you’re trying to shut it off remotely so the alarm doesn’t go off. We still have not received equipment we paid for at time of install, which is over two months now. They were unable to install the panel where the previous alarm company had installed a panel; next to the garage door. They said they need an outlet to plug it in. So this means a criminal can just unplug my equipment to disable it. Unlike those that run a line in your walls so this can’t happen. I had asked for the remote garage door opener as my garage door opener is compatible, but instead they just installed a garage door sensor. This is not what I wanted. The initial sales rep I met through the home show tried to scam me and was quite shady. I paid for the equipment outright and I did not want a contract. He attempted to still sign me up for a five year contract and stated I still had to do a credit check and I could pay the entire thing off the following day. Also, he kept saying he is giving us all these special deals. I asked for a breakdown of all the items and he refused to provide a list. We were told not to talk to other Vivint reps or customers. My wife contacted the corporate office and we were advised we were being signed up with a five year contract. These all might seem like minor issues, but they add up.

Disappointed. I was told several lies by the salesman Sammy Friend. He said my long buffering times on the cameras was over because the cameras were on cellular when away from home. When I was away from home and had someone at my front door I needed to be able to check and talk to whoever was at the door. I found out that the cameras operated on WI FI and not cellular. So I am having the same long buffering times as with ADT. As much as 2-5 minutes buffering. Sammy also told me that I could at least speak to people even tho the camera was buffering. Not true. I had your strobe light over the garage because when it was raining in 2 separate storms the camera would pick up the rain as a person and would alert every 2 minutes. Very annoying. I regret ever signing up with Vivint. Really unhappy. Oh and Sammy said Vivint and he would take care of paying off ADT. Now I understand that I have to wait for a gift card 2-3 weeks in order to pay off ADT. And now ADT is demanding immediate payment. Please send the gift card. I will never recommend Vivint to anyone!!!

Not satisfied. In the beginning everything was great, equipment worked great and customer service was great. However was changing battery on motion sensor and the prong that holds battery broke, cheaply made of course, called to inquire about new one was told I had to buy a new one. Need better products if your going to do this type of business. This business only calls to collect payment not interested at all in how my equipment is doing. Tried to get additional products was told my credit was not god enough but somehow was good enough to get it started up... hummm. Well not really sure what the structure is regarding customer service but the products certainly reflect the type of service they provide. Not satisfied to say the least.

Started out rough but Now.... My husband and I joined Vivint a few years back. We left the company due to several technical issues and came back after a salesman knocked on our door. The salesman advised us that there had been significant upgrades to Vivint's technology, He was right! We have 5 cameras so the band-with is great now!! We can access Vivint from anywhere using the app. We can let family members in the house remotely or our UPS delivery guy to place a package inside. We have 24-7 recorded surveillance. This came in handy when the police knocked on our door and asked to see our doorbell camera footage. We were not able to solve a crime but it was good to know that if there are ever any dangerous situations, we are protected!!

Alarm functionality. The app works well most of the time. There is support when I have an issue. They usually send someone out fairly quickly if that is needed. I like the update of the deter on and off from the camera. Sometimes we’re out in the driveway and the deter goes off every 30 seconds. So that’s a nice feature. I like that we can take a picture from the camera feed. I like that we can view in mostly real time and speak through the camera. I really wish there was a way to activate the alarm from the app within each camera view (similar to the deter functionality now) Sometimes, things happen but the panel isn’t armed. If I catch it on my phone from alerts, I would like to be able to activate the alarm! There’s a button to talk, but no button to sound the alarm! Other than that, we have enjoyed the system for many years now!

Almost perfect, with one glaring flaw. This app is super convenient and easy to operate. I haven’t had the Vivint system long, but so far I am pleased overall. TBH, I’ve never had a home security system before, so I would probably be pleased with anything. My only complaint about the app is that it’s a bit slow. There is a 4-8 second lag when you tap to open and a little less when you tap to open the camera access. If I am inside and I hear a strange noise outside, I don’t want to have to wait 10 seconds to see what’s going on. Ten seconds doesn’t sound like a long time, but people can move quickly and when you’re trying to assess whether or not you could be in danger, even just a few seconds matter. That’s a big deal to me, which is why I am giving this app only three stars. If it weren’t slow, it would be five-star worthy.

STEER CLEAR! Do NOT sign a contract with Vivint!. Our Vivint experience has been horrible. We have now had Vivint over a year and more of that year was spent with a system that hasn’t even functioned. All cameras aside from the doorbell have been down for months. They pretty much just want me to fix everything myself and when they asked me to get on a ladder to climb up to my second story to adjust the camera I had to draw the line and finally tell them to send out a tech, at which point they said I would need to pay extra fees to have a tech come and fix the issues the original Vivint tech caused. If I could break the impossible contract to break, I WOULD INSTANTLY! Be aware of signing a contract with this company, they are shady and unwilling to help, but believe this, you WILL be paying them and paying off that massive loan weather your equipment AND Vivint services work or not. Trust me, I’m not just an upset customer here to rant, I have tried everything to have a positive outcome but just wish I could get out of this horrible situation at this point.

Most ingenuous company I’ve ever paid!. Vivint equipment does not work has never worked. They have sent multiple techs out to solve the issue I was promised twice that they would let me out of my remaining contract. The tech came the equipment does not work when he left I still wasn’t able to rewind. And I have a video of me being able to open and close my front door with out the alarm going off. I called them back today and the tech wrote in his notes that it worked and of course the retention agent didn’t note that if it didn’t they would let me out of my contract I have been on hold spoke to a sup and they want to send another tech out her just to confirm have me miss another day of work for them to make me feel like a liar when I have video also don’t be fooled I wished I did research they have a 1 start for BBB and have class action lawsuit against them for all being liars. Still on hold waiting for the sups sup. I do not want another one of their lazy lien techs coming to my house! I’ve been a customer since 2015! Just keeps getting worse!

How do use if you have a disability. The video images from the cameras are fantastic. They’re very sharp and images are detailed. However, having to use it through an app on your phone or a tablet makes it difficult. it would be better if it had a way to display it on your TV using a different input like a fire stick works. This way you can easily switch over to look at what’s going on outside. I don’t typically keep my phone on me 24 seven or a tablet. So, having a way toAccess the system through the TV with a remote would be greatly beneficial. also, having a way to access it through your computer would be great. Possibly through a downloadable app that connects to the Wi-Fi of the system. having this on your phone on 24 seven quickly wears down the batteries.. Have an ability to use your TV or computer would help release the strain on the batteries of your devices.

Good Product, Poor HW/ Lifecycle Management. I have been a Vivint customer since 2018 and I installed numerous components of the smart home system in my residence and I have been very satisfied with the service. Recently I went to enhance/add additional HW devices (cameras) and it turns out the products operating system (OS) has been upgraded and the 3 year old Hardware I own is not adequate to run the new OS. In order to come up to speed, I have to purchase new control panel, all new cameras, sensors, etc. Basically, I need to purchase a entirely new system (at full cost) in order to utilize new functionality. I feel SW/HW lifecycle should include backward compatibility so users/customers like me so that we don’t need to purchase entirely new systems every few years, in order to a stay current.

Get ready to get MANY FALSE ALARMS. I absolutely HATE their service!!!! I have had to leave work because the sensors have malfunctioned. It has also woken up myself and my children up at all hours of the night!!!!! We get so many false alarms that the day we have a REAL EMERGENCY, we are all going to think it’s a false alarm. I have called their support on numerous occasions and they always have me trouble shoot and then send me new sensors. Problem continues!!!!! There’s ALWAYS an excuse for their lack of care and I am sick and tired of being woken up and having my children crying because they are scared. In order to send a technician to my house to fix the problem, I have to pay $99!!!!!! I’m warning you all, don’t waste your money. I’m unfortunately stuck with their morons for another two years even though I’ve had their service for over 6 years. To make matters worse, I’ve had a package stolen and the doorbell and front camera completely missed it!!!!!

Not happy with equipments. First, I have had Vivint for almost two years. Since I had my first equipment, it was laggy and blurry, and the app kept freezing since day one! The service was horrible since they installed it, I was not able to see any of the live events, and it was horrible paying for service that sucked; I called so much and complained, and a technician came and said that the cameras were not working correctly and said someone would come and replace them, no one came, and after a year finally someone came to my door, mentioned the issues and upgraded also another person mentioned when I called that my loan would be forgiven my old loan. I will have the new loan, for the latest cameras, lies, now I have two loans, cameras that aren't working and suddenly they can't find the conversation, and the person that came to my door was a sales representative. I'm so frustrated and mad with Vivint; canceling my service will not do it because I will still have my old loan to pay, and cameras that aren't working; so disappointed 🙁

How are these people still in business?. The sale went fine but the installation and everything afterwards was amateurish. First, all my communications was with people who had English as a SECOND language. After an hour being switched to multiple departments, they finally agreed I was overcharged by almost $300.0. I then needed to have the installation “touched up.” The technician essentially wanted me to reinstall the system on my own. Problem is I’d already paid $200 to have it done. I sought the remedies of having them send me a document by email or text to say, in no uncertain terms that the overcharge would be listed as a credit. In 5 days I’ve received no document. I also made the demand that they send a technician out to in effect properly install the system. In 5 days in has not happened and have received no further communications from Vivint. I frankly have no idea how they remain in business.

Awesome company and app!!!. Finally!!! A company that is everything that they claim! I've been a client with ADT and Monitronics who became Moni or went by Moni and then Brink. From day one my experience was a complete nightmare. The system never properly worked. Kept going offline. I was told the truth about the cameras. Their sales rep told me that all of the equipment belonged to Brink. It wasn't until I started experiencing a lot of problems that I was informed that their cameras were from a third party. Their app never worked consistently for me and horrible customer service! Vivint is truly way ahead of the pack! They stand alone as far as security companies are concerned. Everything works as described and everything they do is prompt and friendly. Their app is a godsend. It works and is user friendly!!! Finally I have the peace of mind knowing that my family and I are back by a TRUE security company! Thanks Vivint!

Service. What good is the system when it’s not doing what you pay for it to do, doorbell camera have not recorded anything this entire week The front door Mike, the door bell Mike have not worked in a while, front yard camera was not working when a murder was committed right next door. The perpetrator was seen going across my front lawn. Their car parked right in front of my home and my camera was not working. The alarm was activated and nothing at all recorded. I did not even receive a call as to whether or not it was a false alarm and the list goes on; at this point I really would not give one star, very very bad bad service. it’s amazing because it has not always been this way. I have had some great service in the past and when I receive even better offers my reply was it’s not broken so mine does not need to be fixed I’m good well it is broken badly and it does need to be fixed can’t put everything on Covid

I couldn’t give the app zero stars. This app is so buggy and the delays make it pretty useless for what you actually need it for. It never syncs with our thermostat, and often we end up too hot or too cold because the app breaks. It also constantly crashes upon opening. And when it alerts us someone is at the door or caught on camera, it takes soooo long to open the app that the person is long gone. Customer support is too terrible to help and makes you do everything yourself. Our sales guy promised he’d send someone “tomorrow” to fix it. That was maybe 4 months ago and we never heard from him again. One winter afternoon I called for help the customer service person had me reset the system and accidentally broke it, leaving us with a home with no heat. We have a baby so that was super helpful. It took over a week to send someone to fix it. Often times too I can’t set my alarm from the app because it says a door is open when I’m staring at it from the outside, shut and locked. Fix your bugs, Vivint!

Cameras need recalibration. Overall this system gets the job done detecting people, however, whenever there is a shadow from a tree or during light rain or heavier, the detection goes off as if a person is there when it’s not. Living in the suburbs, we have animals going through our yard including bears and coyotes. It’s concerning that I’ve witnessed these animals walk in the proximity of the cameras and it does not pick it up. We have a small child and we always look twice before anyone steps outside because the motion detector simply does not pick it up. I called Vivint and they said they specifically look for things that may be shaped like a person and could not help me after resetting the system multiple times. It would be nice to pick up other animals on the camera and not shadows of trees or when it’s raining. My parents have the Ring system and it picks up exactly what is needed and omits what is irrelevant! In hindsight I wouldn’t have gotten this system. I hope this helps!

Security cameras and support. We’ve had the climate control system in our house for years and it’s worked great. When we started adding cameras we ran into issues. The most important cameras went offline repeatedly and the only free support services are chat based or on the phone with some offshore call center person reading a script and the process took hours. The last time it happened the chat and phone based service person couldn’t figure out how to figure it out so they connected me to sales who tried to tell me the new equipment was outdated and I’d need to “upgrade” and pay for a service call. The camera was less than a year old. The tech person didn’t trouble shoot correctly and after 5 hours of my own time I figured out how to fix it. I don’t pay for a service that I have to service. So instead of offering a refund or discount they wanted me to pay more for something Vivint couldn’t fix? Please…

Great system, but one little program need. We’ve had the system only a few weeks and have been very pleased. Except, for a small tweak. It’s true that one can stop door entry alerts and stop the deter alarm for the cameras for when you’re home and/or moving about outside. However, notifications of such activity are always sent to your phone. I find it annoying. Yes, I’m aware that I went outside and that I’m in the garden, mowing the yard or washing the car. Getting these alerts should also be an option. I can block the alerts on my phone, but it’s annoying to have them blocked on her phone and need to remember to reactivate the alerts. The deter setting on the cameras can be turned off for a selected number of hours. Then let’s have notifications sent also have that option.

Dream seller. This company just sells a dream of all these great features, and takes your money. You will spend half your life on the phone with them walking you through repairing their equipment yourself. It will take an act of God to get them to come out to fix. My panel was offline for a whole year. I got tired of calling them. They only changed out the panel after my car was broken into. Then the thermostat started miscommunicating with the panel so it would be 90 degrees in the house, but the thermostat and panel thinks it’s 70. After 7 calls in one month. They finally sent a technician out. Two days later it’s doing the same thing. It’s was 8 o’clock pm when they originally installed all my new equipment and didn’t finish until 10pm, but they can’t send a technician out to fix a problem because “they have all went home”. Advise to anyone thinking about using this company.... go to download ring and just buy the equipment out right. It’s WAY cheaper and there’s no monthly charges.

Don’t Purchase Vivint. I’ve now had technicians to my home 3 times and am waiting for them to arrive again on Tuesday. First, The “Smart Assistant” ran out air conditioner at a lower temperature than we normally keep our home for the entire duration of our vacation. Now, on the first cold night of the year, my thermostats (which we’re not installed correctly) won’t turn on. So here at my home with two small children under 3 and no heat with temperatures in the 40’s. The install was done poorly, the support has been terrible with copy/paste script “troubleshooting”, and the app doesn’t seem to control much of anything. Also, beware that if you do the doorbell you have to accept notifications on your phone or you’ll never be notified someone is at your home as they do not hook up the doorbell to the standard chime that is installed in most homes. I have not been this dissatisfied with a product or service in my entire life. I would highly recommend you stay as far away as possible from Vivint.

Unuseable cameras that not benefiting the customers. I am not satisfied with this system or service. I have cameras that doesn’t pick up cars that comes and goes located over my garage. I have exposed wires on the plug on my sink countertop where another plug is located for a camera. I have had services with this company for 3 years and this is the worse service that I have received from this company since I had my services transferred. I was told that the camera’s are not designed to pick up cars just people and since that’s the case this is a waste of my money and time because if somebody break into my garage and steal my cars I can’t tell the police anything because there is nothing to show them because they drove off freely with my cars and there is no evidence of when it happened. There isn’t anybody that’s going to steal from you and turn around dance for the cameras after they have gotten your property. This system is not set up to help the customer it’s only helps the company. Thank you Alnita Jones

Wishing better. I wish there were local technicians that could service the system. Phone representatives are difficult to understand, even had one call with a representative that had roosters crowing in background. I recently had a problem with the system and it was not shutting down when I came in the house and when I called Vivint I was asked to troubleshoot. I am not a technician and I am not being paid to be a technician on the system. I asked to have a tech come out to get my alarm working properly and I was going to be charged $50 for the in person service call. I am paying for a system to work and if not, I should not have to be the one servicing the system. This has happened more than once. The next day, a very nice Vivint technician, from a city 90 miles away, came and worked on my alarm. Great service from him, not good customer service from Vivint. I suggest caution with Vivint.

Deceiving. This app has a way of working when it wants to. There was times when it will not allow us to turn on the alarm. We can not see footage in the events, because it will keep spinning and then tells us that it is no longer available for viewing. Sometimes the camera will go offline for long periods. You don’t know when someone rings the doorbell. It also does not always allow us to rewind. It randomly will alert us to when someone is on our property. This is really frightening due to the fact that we had a murder in our backyard before. On my husband’s phone it does not show the dots when a person was there. Once it alerted us several times that someone was at our house and no one was there and that our garbage door was open as well as our front door. Fortunately some was home to verify that there was no one there and that, the garbage door was closed as well as the front door. This has app does not help to feel comfortable leaving our home. This is so terrible.

Works well 50% of the time. And by “works well” i use those terms loosely. When I’m just doing a regular security check it seems to work fine, but as soon as i need to speak through a speaker in one of my cameras to someone all of a sudden the video and audio time out. It’s grossly annoying. You will get many false alarms and/or the app will freeze giving you a false record of events. Oh and yes I’ve restarted routers and whatnot, we have in the home techs so it’s not a user problem. And don’t try to call them for help, they’ll speak to you like a 2yr old child and tell you that if you have any issues with their hardware how they’ll charge you for to have a tech to come out and fix THEIR equipment. We’ve have to super glue things back in place ourselves smh. Their system is so not the trouble to buy. I hope you all have guard dogs and personal protection like we do, because this app and system will not make you feel safe with it alone. We will be leaving the company towards the beginning of the new year.

My most useful app!!. This app is without a doubt the most useful app. I have the motion activated door bell, inside camera and the auto lock installed. The video on the inside camera and the door bell is crystal clear no matter the time of the day. I use the app to both arm and disarm the alarm system. I have also used the app to unlock the front door on occasions when I was in the front yard and needed something inside the house. Super handy and also gives me peace of mind while I’m not home. Yo get notified each time someone rings the doorbell along with a 10 second video clip. You never know these days, being in law enforcement I have worked cases where people ring the doorbell to check to see if someone is home and if not they break in. I haven’t set off the alarm yet (knock on wood) so I can’t attest to how loud it is. I can’t recommend this app enough!!

Vivint is exceptional!. We researched home security systems for over a year and found Vivint to be far above the rest. Affordable, easy for beginners to use the app, 24-7 security and peace of mind. Notifies you when anyone comes to the doors, is in our front, side and back yards and any attempt to break a window. I can see all areas from the inside panel or on our phones. I can talk into my phone at work to someone who has rang the doorbell at home. The 24-7 live video is very clear even at night. It will alert you if anyone is on your property and will playback the event. The service is excellent but the best thing is we are safe and also knowing if our property is breeched the alarm will sound and the police will be here faster than any other service we researched. App and interoperability issues. Let me first say, the different between a concept and reality should mean a lot. I find that I was a sold a concept of a system, the the reality is that my app and system work about about 70 percent of the time. The rest of the time I am on the phone with Vivint trying to resolve an issue with my app or system. For example, my playback option on my app doesn’t work properly and I am missing weeks/months of video. I have called many times but no one seems to know what to do, I have been asked to remove and reinstall the app multiple times with no change in the issue. With 1T of storage, I should be able to recall at least the last several weeks of video, but sadly I can’t. The reason I decided to go with Vivint was be cause of the 1T storage capacity with the play back option on the app. I am not getting a good return on my investment with this system, I can only hope that Vivint fixes the issues with this system.

Fantastic. I’ve had Vivint paired with my app for 9 months now and I love everything about it! I’ve never had an issue with the app or my smart home system. I love that you can make custom rules that allow you to get the most out of your system. For example, I have the app work with my motion sensor and light dimmers so when I walk into my kitchen late at night for a glass of water, my lights automatically turn on to a dim setting. Also if I walk away from my home for more than 5 minutes and I forgot to lock my house, my Vivint system will lock my home for me. The best part is how it saves on my heating bill because it senses I’m not home through motion detectors and doors opening/closing and will automatically turn off my heater. Love my system, my cameras have always worked great and save all my clips!

My Family feels Safe. We had Alert 360, our cameras were terrible at night, foggy and blurry within the first year. The Alert 360 install tech put in different cameras from what the sales person sold us, saying they were superior to what the sales person sold us. This system had no value to us. I didn’t feel my family was safe, we got no support from Alert360 after many calls asking for assistance. Now, with Vivint I have a clear view of my property, and cameras with spot lights that notify everyone in our family immediately of an event and can see clearly and play back events immediately. This technology lagged terribly with our other system and was difficult to play back. We are happy and have the confidence that Vivint is keeping my family safe. I am so glad I talked to the Rep who can to my door.

Slow and ANNOYING. Takes forever to load and update any current footage now matter how good my connection is. It lags and if there was ever a real emergency this would not be helpful because it takes several minutes to load a new clips. Live has a small lag as well it’s really frustrating. The microphone works when it wants to which has cause me to miss the opportunity for packages to be left for our retrieval and communicate with visitors. -Camera is not the clearest, yet not the worst. I’ve done my part to make sure my WiFi is running at an optimum level, but honestly no matter where I am it’s the same experience with Vivint. I’ve also contacted customer service to ensure my software is up to dated across my home system and my personal mobile and still the same issues. Same experience with other members of my home. I’m not happy with paying over 1k for cameras, panel, door bells etc and an additional $20 per month for a service and product that doesn’t deliver the quality it should.
