Missing cash back. I will never recommend or buy anything from Rakuten again until I received my cash back. I am an old customer of Ebates and now Rakuten. I never have any issue with Ebates. I just recently purchased some items from Gilt City and spent about $2300 and Rakuten offering 15% cash back(about $400) . About 2 or 3 days after I purchased I went back to check for my cash back n it was not there. So I contacted the customer service n they said that I have two accounts, so they merged the two to one account. And Asked me to email them the order numbers and the amount. They said this will fix the problem but I have to allow it a few days. So I did, a week later I still didn’t see my cash back. I contact them once again, I spoke to the customer service and now they said that the order have not clear because it was not shipped out yet. I have to wait until it shipped. And they are not sure if will get the cash back because Thy have to wait for The store to respond back to them. And they tell me to call the store n so I did. Gilt City customer service said they have nothing to do with Rakuten, Rakuten offer the cash back. So, I got pushed back and forth . Now I feel like I have been cheated and Rakuten stole my money.

Stands the test of time. I’m updating my positive review to gripe about the app change that immediately launches to each store instead of simply opening the deal page and showing the T&C of cash back. Yes, they are displayed before hitting “OK” and continuing to the site, but sometimes I have a choice of merchants and want to see the best offer amongst them (without being taken to the site). Once I see the offers then I can launch the store’s app if I wish. This causes extra navigation and is aggravating. I’ve been using Rakuten for a couple years, sometimes more than others. All offers have qualifying criteria easily available and cash back posts quickly from most vendors. Rebates paid promptly each quarter. I contacted CS once about an offer and the replies and prompt and helpful. This is one of the first and the largest clearinghouse of rebates and it may not pay as much as other apps, but I learned my lesson after buying a high ticket item with a competitor and due to purposely-restrictive rules, I never received the cash.

Love this app - really love the cash back!. I love this app! I wish people would realize how easy it is to use. Instead of using a store app, you just open this app and go to that store and shop and you can also save with extra promos, coupons and additional cash back. I have made hundreds of dollars with them. It’s also great to walk into some stores and receive cash back for just shopping at certain stores. For In store purchases, be sure to click on each individual store below the “in store” section to add to your account. I know that they use to pay you via check or PayPal. I suppose it is still the same. They my have more ways. Only downside to this app is that they changed their name. It was easier to tell people to go to Ebates but now it’s hard with a name like Rakuten because it is hard for most American people to remember and pronounce. However, the company has done a great job with the commercials teaching people to pronounce their name and become familiarized with their app and company!

Best App Ever!. I wasn’t sure what to think about Rakuten at first; but I figured it’s absolutely worth a shot. Especially when it’s for free and no work involved. I honestly thought it had to be to good to be true. That it might be great for others, maybe for those who spend 1000’s online..unlike myself. But BOY WAS I WRONG. I Just open Rakuten, find the store I want to shop. I love that it clearly states what percentage I’ll get back, & opens the store’s website or App. Then I simply shop and check out as usual. That’s it! And i get a percentage of my money back. I love getting a my “big fat check” straight to my PayPal! My most recent check was over $90! Just for buying things my family uses anyway. Clothes to toiletries, Medical supplies Gifts to meal plans and everything in between. Even on takeout orders and trips. I just can’t say enough if you don’t have Rakuten, get it you won’t be sorry!

The app has been okay so far.. The app runs fine and does exactly what it says. Wife gets more out of it than I do as I do not buy much modern style things. No problem most apps like this don’t work for me much anyway because of my taste and style, suppose I’m too old fashion. I am getting offend by the amount of rainbow icons that have been made by this app and other apps over the years. I don’t get to see any apps going with patriotic colors, pretty sad! We shouldn’t have to change the color of icons to rainbows to make others happy. I know people who won’t download an app like this till the icon returns to normal. And if I didn’t already have it I would not download. I’m actually thinking about removing it till it’s back to normal. Updated 6/1/21 Still doing the rainbow icon. Sorry but I will delete the app everyone I see that till it’s gone. It offends me that an American flag icon won’t be made for holidays such as veterans, memorial, and Independence Day, but a rainbow is thrown right up for pride week.

A bit misleading?. I have found that the cash back promotions are not always transparent, especially the inclusion/exclusion criteria. Most recent example- there’s a promotion for 15% cash back on beauty deals on Groupon. When you click the link to activate the deal, it takes you to Groupon which then displays deals under that category. I purchased 2 deals; however, when I checked my account, the cash back was missing. I went back to read fine details and didn’t find any mention, so I reached out to Rakuten and each time was told that my purchase did not qualify. I inquired where on their site is that information displayed (so I know for future purchases too); unfortunately, I received the same response from their customer service- that my purchase does not qualify. Just keep this in mind if you’re enticed by the high cash back rate advertised— and even after checking the fine print— you may still not get the cash back as advertised. I’m disappointed that their customer service was not able to provide additional support regarding this issue.

Great app but sad my account got inactivated. Awesome app but sad my account got inactivated. Their terms/conditions don’t specify what you can/can’t for them to be able to inactivate. My account along with two of my Friends accounts got deleted by Rakuten because they though It was “fraud.” When I referred my two friends, all three of us were supposed to receive $40 back. One of my friends didn’t have a PayPal account and didn’t want a paper check through the mail so I helped him link his Rakuten account with my PayPal, and the other friend forgot his password for PayPal so I also helped him link his account with my PayPal so that when they received the $40 cash back, it would fall on my PayPal. Once I received that money I would pay them in cash but Rakuten assumed I was using these accounts to receive this money for myself and all three of us ended up not receiving any money for this misunderstanding so they spend money and didn’t get anything back. It’s not their fault. I read the term and conditions but I didn’t see anywhere that it said I couldn’t link my PayPal on their Rakuten accounts to help. Y’all need to specify on the terms/conditions. Note : I received a response saying to contact customer service and that they were here to help and I contacted y’all but still no response.

slooooowwwww as molasses. I just started using Rakuten, and while it’s a little annoying in a browser on a computer, it’s worth it. But today through the app, I wanted to take advantage of 4% back even on top of NYX’s 30% off sale. Maybe other websites perform better with it, and it certainly wouldn’t be as bad if you were making a small purchase, but I bought a lot and everything took an obscene amount of time to load. With cosmetics, 3/4 of your time is spent clicking on and looking at various shades, and when it takes 15 seconds for each of those to load, the wasted time adds up very quickly. The app also froze on me three times, forcing me to (slowly) log back in to my NYX account each time. I would have given one star, but we all love free money, and I like the fact that unlike, say, Ibotta, there’s a minimum blanket percentage back at the quite wide variety of stores that participate. In summary, it seems like a good service, but try and do your shopping on an actual computer unless you’re a fan of watching paint dry or similar activities.

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I waited and waited for my “Big Quarterly Check” and never received. This went on for over a year. Every quarter I would check. No check, no bank deposit, no paypal deposit. I contacted company: it was a “whoops, you are correct So sorry. We will correct. We will send you instructions.” The instructions: make a spreadsheet identifying each item (not total purchased), price of item (exclude shipping fee), date of purchase, store AND how it was paid: check, debit, store credit card, visa, master card. And don’t forget to include the date RECEIVED! I don’t keep a spreadsheet of every purchase I make in a year. Sometimes it is dog treats on Ebay! Yes, I could list the HUNDREDS of items I have purchased during a two-three period from my most frequent stores, but not all. But how I paid for a container of honey from Ebay, how I paid for multiple items from JC Penny, Overstock and multiple others, I would be retrieving and printing hundreds of pages -as I would need to print the entire statement for every month for every financial source I have had and then start extracting transaction data.

Pretty great app, actually gives cash back. So I’ve gotten back around 80$ this year since starting to use Rakuten. After doing some googling this is an app made by one of the largest banks in japan who also do a lot of other things with their money. This app works like Honey but it also gives you a percentage of you’re money back in purchases. I only use it when I’m buying something anyway and it happens to have an option for it but even then it’s been nice to get random cash back and coupons. I recommend using the Firefox browser extension instead of the app because sometimes the cash back is only offered through a browser and not the app which is weird and a little confusing. Other than that it is pretty amazing, if you add a debit card and use it in person at stores offering cash back (specifically in store cash back, confusing at first I know) it will automatically add that to you’re Rakuten account. This is essentiallly selling the same information You would get from a frequent shopper card but you get part of the cash from the sale! Enjoy!

Failed to deliver on larger rebates. So I’ve been using Ebates for 6 years now. This is the first time where I feel like they aren’t what they were. Is it because they are now owned by Rakuten? Around last Thanksgiving, few days before and also on Black Friday I purchased some things from J Crew totaling almost $400. The rebate was 6% - I even have the email Ebates sent me advertising this. Well- one order never came through. I sent them multiple “missing cashback” messages to no avail. And I just noticed the second order, they’re showing I only spent $35 so they are rebating me back $3.50 even though my entire order was $175. The funny thing is Ebates has no problems when the rebate amount is less then $10. In the same month, I bought an area rug for $291 and they had no trouble issuing its rebate of $5. Your business promises that in exchange for us going through your website, you will rebate us a portion of our purchase, the assumption is *everytime*, NOT *sometimes*. Those are the goods you advertised. In exchange, I assume these retail companies are paying you a commission for bringing them more business. I went through Ebates anticipating money back. You didn’t deliver. There’s absolutely no incentive for me to continue shopping through Ebates. The last thing I want to do is lend support to and propagate a business that *selectively* chooses when to fulfill its promise.

Rakuten Rocks!. I have been a customer of Rakuten since it was eBates, and use them most frequently for Black Friday shopping since that’s when I do most of my online purchases, and since that’s when retailers offer the biggest cash back percentages. However, I have used them a few times for other purchases. Not only have they helped me score some hidden sales, but I have also gotten cash back on rock bottom prices. One of the purchases was on henna for my hair that was out of stock for some reason at all the usual retailers, including Vitacost. Through Rakuten I was able to find my usual Star Botanical organic brand, in stock, and at half the price of the usual price of retailers that were sold out. I was floored! The product was fresh and undamaged, and arrived quickly from the seller. Also, I was recently able to find an expensive fitness item that my son wanted for his birthday for several dollars below both MSRP listed on the manufacturer and big big box store websites, plus get cash back. I can’t always find what I’m shopping for, but when I do, it’s always worth it. I have never had any issues with Rakuten sellers, either. The only small item I wish Rakuten could change: they have a cash back notification for my Mac, but don’t offer that feature for iPhone, so I’m sure I’ve probably missed a few cash back opportunities when I’m shopping from my phone because I forget to check their app. Otherwise, I highly recommend Rakuten for nearly effortless shopping discounts.

Negative Stars. If I could give this company negative stars, I would. This company used to be Ebates. I signed up with Ebates in 2016 to see what kind of cash back opportunity they provided. The opportunity seemed “dead” compared to others. I chose a different cashback company and cancelled my membership in 2016. I recently received an invitation for $40 cashback from Rakuten. I was excited to see what cashback opportunity was available. After I signed up and saw the cashback opportunity, I was convinced to use the service. I won’t deny that they have the best cashback deals that I have seen online, thus far. I made some purchases and was credited the cashback and $40 promo. I also couldn’t wait to share the link with others. The next time I opened the app. the $40 had disappeared from my account. My referrals thought Rakuten was not legitimate because of that action. I tried to convince them that it must be a glitch in the system. I contacted customer service and was told that they would not honor the invitation because I had previously opened an account with Ebates in 2016 and closed that account the same year. I asked them to remove my information from their company and deactivate my account if they would not honor the invitation, because I did not feel comfortable with their business practices. As of today, they still have not honored the $40 invitation and have not deactivated my account or removed my personal information from their systems.

App Changed for the Worse. I’ve been using e-bates for several years now after being turned onto it by my mom and sister. I even convinced my boyfriend (now husband). We haven’t made any purchases in a while and just ordered vitamins from The Vitamin Shoppe. My husband has done this before with no problems. This time he was so frustrated trying to use the Rakuten app! I ended up doing it for him and saw why he was so frustrated. The app has changed considerably since we last used it. It used to have very straightforward menus and navigation. Now it’s difficult to find the store you want to shop at. There used to be buttons at the bottom of the screen; one to see shops in alphabetical order or by type, another that listed your favorite shops, etc. This is now gone and has been replaced with a jumble of information. When I finally got to The Vitamin Shoppe site, the app froze up at least four times as I was navigating to the items I wanted to purchase and put them in my cart. I had to close and reopen the app numerous times to make the purchase. Please go back to your straightforward, less busy, less lockup-prone app.

Doesn’t always work. I recently made a fairly big purchase through the app. The Ebates banner was on my top left screen so I knew I was in their system. I spent a good hour filling out all the info on a flower delivery website for an amazing 30% cash back. After all was said and done Ebate’s system didn’t register my transaction. I sent them screen shots with proof of everything in order for them to make it right. No response. So disappointed. ALSO, there were times I clicked on their links to stores to shop through. It doesn’t always work. I would notice that their “Ebates” banner would not be there despite using their “activated” links. I would have to go back and click on them again then cross my fingers that it would work. Ugh Ebates. Ugh. Update: They finally responded and fixed the missing cash back BUT why did this even happen? Thank goodness I had taken screen shots of my transaction details otherwise I would have been out of luck. Again.... make sure that banner is at the top left corner before checking out and be sure to make it quick because apparently the system kicks you out after a bit. And the biggest tip ... take a screen shot of your receipts/transactions. -_-

Good app, unless payment is a larger amount.. I have been using Ebates since 2012. I had never had an issue until recently. I have recently decided to try some new services because the cash back was a decent amount and I wanted to try the products. Both transactions went smoothly and cash back was in my Ebates account (equalling about $55, which is a lot, and was an incentive to try something new). Unfortunately, the cash back disappeared from my account. I had never had this issue before. I paid the money for the services and went through the app with absolutely no problem. Then the money just disappears a few weeks later and customer service tells me it’s because the company didn’t report it but they are still looking into it... but the money was in my account for the transactions. Twice in one month. I’ve always been a huge advocate for Ebates but now I don’t trust getting my cash back if it’s a larger amount.

Can’t get all the cash back.. New update: emailed them to close my account. A Representative went above and beyond to help me. I was credited for all of my travel that was missing. Originally this post was the minimum one star both times. Today I upgraded it to 3 stars - actual stars - not the minimum required plus two! I just won’t use the ap for travel rebates. It’s not worth the hassle. Update: placed a package order through Expedia. I have all the receipts. Can’t get my money promised. CLOSING MY ACCOUNT TODAY. This ap is TERRIBLE and a waste of time. I will use my IBOTTA ap in its place. I have three outstanding purchases that I can’t seem to get cash back on. NEVER use Priceline on this ap. You will NEVER get through to anyone. When you contact them they want the order info and date of purchase. It’s RIGHT THERE ON THE AP. It is too much of a hassle to fool with this ap anymore. Once I get my next check I’m done.

More work than it’s worth. Things started out great, as usual. I was delighted to QUICKLY earn $50+ dollars on my first check. Second & third checks, however, were less than half that amount. Which was perplexing so I checked things out. Seems there were A LOT of my purchases going “unrewarded”. Therefore, I started updating the data in “MISSING CASH BACK” which is extremely time consuming. They list EVERY time you use the app, even when just browsing, as a potential for “missing cash back”. Plus you need order number and subtotal; both have to be looked up from the actual store you made your purchase from. You can imagine the amount of searching and time it takes to file a submission for each MISSING CASH BACK submission. And we aren’t talking 1 or 2, we are talking 9 - 10 monthly that fail to get rewarded. So after diligently submitting MULTIPLE requests things were moving along, although at a much less satisfying rate than my first check (hmm). Finally, the last straw fell when after my last round of Missing Cash Back submissions were all responded to with the same thing: “ your purchase was not coved!” What gives? I’ve been buying the same things the whole time. I finally gave up, at the urging of my partner, as it’s not worth the .35 cents you get (or not get) for each laboriously completed and submitted MISSING CASH form. The only thing that will be missing from now on is ME- from the Rakuten app!

Download This App Now!. I too was skeptical when my friend shared this app with me. But in just over a year, I’ve earned $150+ just by shopping normally my favorite stores. It couldn’t be easier - open the app, select your favorite store and shop as normal. As long as you use the app to get to your store, the rebates are automatic. Plus, you can still use any coupon codes you may have so you are not leaving anything on the table. I haven’t tried the In-Store shopping function yet, but I will very soon. Payment is by paper check or Paypal, or sometimes you have the opportunity to earn additional cash back if you choose to take payment in the form of a e-gift card to one of your favorite stores. You really can’t lose here! And their Customer Service is top-notch as well. Super quick response time, so resolving issues of missing cash back is a breeze (only happened twice so far, and both times was resolved within 48 hours or less). This is legit. Try it - you’ll be glad you did.

A waste of time. Let me start by saying most of my transactions are always “pending” for long time and I don’t receive a cash back from them. The company does nothing about it when you report them individually through this app (and that option is not even available for every transaction), but when you have a ton of transactions to report missing cash back from, then becomes an impossible. There is no way to contact customer service about cash back missing from a large amount of transactions. Very convenient for the company. No way to contact this company through this app. No customer service email, no phone number, but the app does have an automated robot that does not understand basic sentences. And now the app doesn’t let you report cash back from just clicking on each transaction pending regardless of how old the transaction is. Just crap. Do yourself a favor and research their competition. There is no reason to be tortured looking over and over for your cash back when the company should be the one on top of it, cause, you know, you can just go somewhere else to get cash back on your purchases.

True love in these crazy times!. I am also one of those people who have used this app since it was Ebates and as long as it exists, I will continue using it! I moved in with my parents six years ago to take care of them and after about six months my dad started showing signs of dementia. Soon, our lives revolved around his care and we did everything possible to keep him at home. Saving as much money as possible was critical in us being able to do just that! He passed in June. Ebates/Rakuten was and will continue to be an important tool i use in helping me save money and maximize my mother’s modest Social Security and pension, combined with my social security. I am constantly trying to maximize any amount of savings I can find using specific credit cards to buy specific items and I’m so glad to have Rakuten as another weapon in my arsenal. Thank you for your help!

The balance for welcoming bonus disappeared and I didn’t receive the referral bonus yet. I hope they solve my issue because I have referred a lot of people to download the app but I haven’t received any referral bonus yet, even though I contacted my friends to make sure they made their first purchase and they did complete their first purchase but I didn’t receive any referral bonus anyway. Also, the 40$ welcoming bonus just disappeared from my balance. Furthermore, I believe I received cashback wrongly from my purchases because according to their app calculations I made 2 purchases at the exact same amount in 2 different stores which isn’t true. I purchased in two different stores and the amount spent were different. I contacted them (the customer service from the app) and a day after someone replied my email saying they are gonna transfer my issue to a speacialist. Since then, nothing. Hopefully it is gonna be solved soon and hopefully this app isn’t a scam. I will update here as they solve this issue.

Terrible experience. I joined Rakuten using a friend's referral link and made a qualifying first purchase. The time for my payment came around but suddenly my balance had disappeared and showed $0 instead of the $30 I had earned. It required numerous emails to Rakuten support, in which two different people were replying to me. The first person replying kept telling me I would not get a payment for three months and also that it would only be $5. The second person replying told me that I would be getting the $30 in 5 days. These conflicting answers combined with the amount of time and effort it took to finally resolve the issue left me with zero confidence to do any further business with Rakuten. From reading other reviews here, I’m sad to see that my experience is not unique. You should have a much more organized and consistent business model as well as better trained customer service representatives. I will be sure to warn everyone I know not to bother with Rakuten as the hassle is not worth what you may or may not get. If one person reads this and avoids this company then my experience was worth it to save the next person from going through what I did.

SCAM!! Takes money earned back and doesn’t give you referral bonuses. I recently signed up for blue apron through this app and received $53 back, I referred my husband and he signed up with my link and he spent the required $40 on macys through this app (he actually spent more than $40) we both received our $40 bonus for him signing up with my link, then the next day it was gone. We have both emailed member services numerous times and haven’t received a response and it’s been over a week since we sent the first email and to top it off I noticed a couple days ago they also took back my $53 earned from blue apron. Such a joke they give you money back just to take it back!!! Scam! Horrible customer service and unless things are made right and we get our money back that we earned then neither my husband and I will use this app again!! And I’ve already warned others in a money saving group I’m in about this as well and it looks like numerous others have had this same exact issue!! I SUGGEST YOU STEER CLEAR OF THIS APP!!!

Update! A freezing mess!. I just tried one more time after leaving and making this review and now I could no longer login at all. It doesn’t let me login because it says I’m inactive. So, I try to join because maybe they had me on Ebates and not this new company. Once I try to join it then says member already exists. So, I guess this app is just a lost cause now. I usually make large purchases and if there’s so many problems before even shopping then that’s not a good sign for me to trust them with such large transactions. What a shame, I enjoyed it when it lasted! Goodbye Rakuten! Last review: I used to love this app and couldn’t imaging shopping without using it. I couldn’t but to recommend others because that’s how amazing it used to be. Now, it’s just a freezing mess. As soon as I open the app I’m logged in then I select a store and it’ll ask me to re-login (why login again?? -*shrugs unnecessary) . I’ll try to re-login and it just freezes every time. I’ll close the app and try again. Still the same issue!!! Okay something has got to give! I also have missing money that I was supposed to receive the last quarter but ever since they switched companies it seems to have disappeared. There used to be proof there and suddenly it said $0. So, all around I’m very upset. I’m not giving a 1 star because I’m hoping the bugs and issues will get fixed. Also, once upon a time this was my fav app. Please fix ASAP! Apparently, there are many others having the same issues. Thanks

Not worth it, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!. At first I loved this app, I was a little hesitant at first to try it because some of the bad reviews turned me off to using it. I was using it for every purchase I could and I was so excited to be able to save some money. I took precautions and took screenshots of the money I had earned along the way to show if they did take my money away like some people had said. Sure enough that did happen and it is true. They give you bonuses for referring friends and then take it away, your purchases that you previously earned money for just disappear. It was kind of a pain to do because you had to really make sure you were doing everything correctly and that you were still connected to Rakuten at the time of purchase.. but would of been worth it if you actually got the money back that you were supposed to. I have stopped using this app due to it not being worth the time. It takes to much time to do just for them to take all of your money away and you have like no money remaining in the end. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS APP.

Customer service. Their customer service is the worst. I referred a few friends for their referral reward and my friend and I met the qualifications and did not receive anything. When we tried reaching out for help they first told us she did not qualify. After reviewing her purchase they ended up giving us our $30 but took it back the next day. When I asked what had occurred, they accused me of making multiple accounts to receive the $30. I referred my mom, my boyfriend and my sister. I thought the point of referring people was for your friends and family to enjoy the app as well, especially right now during the Christmas shopping. If they do not want to reward the people for the program they advertise, what’s the point of advertising the reward? Now they’re just ignoring my emails, and I’m also missing cash back from shopping. I’ve read the reviews and noticed that they’re doing the same to everyone else. Horrible customer service. There’s another app that has better cash back deals, use that one instead.

Only works half the time. I used to love this shopping app when it was Ebates and I never shopped without using the app but now that it transitioned to Rakuten the app is horrible. Whenever I shop online I always use PayPal as my method of payment and have never had any problems until the recent change. I log into a store, then choose PayPal as my method of payment, and then “Cannot connect to merchant” pops up so I log out of Rakuten, log back into my preferred store, choose PayPal as my method of payment and my purchase actually goes through but unfortunately it doesn’t go through Rakuten so no rewards back to me. I have noticed this happens every time Rakuten offers double cash back, my purchases never connect to the merchant. I am so tired of the frustration of logging in and shopping only to have to redo everything so my transactions can go through. I have decided to delete my Rakuten app and I’m now looking on the App Store for another savings/rewards app. I used to refer everyone I talked to but now I wouldn’t recommend this app due to the frustrations I have.

E-bates mobile app review. This is a great app! I’ve never experienced an issue, and whether I’m looking for just one particular product, or one of the thousands of stores E-bates partners with, I’ve always been able to find what I’m looking for with ease! If a store isn’t a participant, they’ll let you know, and some stores participate sometimes, and sometimes they don’t, so you should always check E-bates before ordering from any store on-line. You might be able to get up to 15% back on your purchase! I regularly recommend this app to anyone I talk with that doesn’t yet have, or use it, but so far I don’t think I’ve received any bonus money for my recommendations. That may be due to the people either not using my link, or waiting, researching, then just downloading on their own. It would be nice if everyone would use the link I send them, but I’m only in charge of me, so..... Otherwise, I’m 110% thrilled with E-bates!

Offering great deals with new options daily!. I've only been using EBATES for about 2 months & have already earned lots of $$ on what I would buy anyways. The deals are constantly being rotated/updated. I'm not one to just buy things because they're on sale, as I don't think your saving much if you're spending more just because you can. With such a wide variety of participating retailers, I've been introduced to many places/products I may not have been aware of otherwise. I needed almost a whole new wardrobe (lost a few sizes) & thanks to these great deals/cash back, I've been able to accomplish this quickly. My friends are always asking where I found such stylish pieces & can't believe the savings! EBATES has also made it possible to give much better gifts & surround myself with great quality furnishings for my home, pets, car, etc. LOVE earning cash back just for buying what I need anyways (even groceries) & being able to afford to do it in a more timely manner. LOVING EBATES!!

Disappointed in customer service when it comes to referrals. I agree with the person below me. When I started using Raketun I love it because I do ALOT of online shopping. I had my referral bonus disappear for referring my friend , I got an email that said I received the $30 referral bonus. She even got a check with the $30 bonus. But it disappeared from my account. Customer service said the same thing, the person has another account... not true. And some other excuses I got as well. But I have copies of the emails from Raketun from OCTOBER where it says I earned the $30 for referring someone , then it just disappears from my account. And in OCTOBER my friend even got her check with the 30$ for me referring her. This makes people I refer think it’s a scam. Because it doesn’t make sense and customer service just gives me Excuses every time I inquire about it.. so I just gave up on it. I wish I could give it 5 stars , that is my only issue ... and it’s quite a big issue if you ask me.

It was better before. The customer service is not good enough.. I’ve been using this app over two years since it was Ebates, it’s legit for the ones thinking it could be a scam. I have saved a lot of money and get some extra from referrals so it is one of my favorites... but... since their change to Rakuten I’ve had a lot of issues about referral bonuses that have been deleted with no reason and their response is always that my friend has another account when it is not true, and it’s exhausting having to make requests every time this happens because my friends think it is not legit. I have had requests for weeks without a satisfactory solution and lately all my friends that had joined with my link disappeared from my referral list. I’ve been waiting for over two weeks for a solution and nothing have happened. Sent again the same request trying to get another agent and quicker response and she said I had to wait for the first ticket to be responded, I understand but two weeks without any clue about what’s happening with my account it’s not a good customer service. Many of my friends already completed the promotion and I still don’t receive my bonuses. It’s very disappointing having to contact the customer service so often because the app is not working well.

Ebates->Rakuten. Earlier this year I started using Ebates. It was going great and I got several of my family members using it. Since the switch to Rakuten I have had several issues. First it kept asking me to confirm my account for security reasons. No problem, I had to do that before and there were no issues. But this time it will have me confirm my account, but as soon as I click the account button, it will ask me to confirm it again (even when it was just confirmed). When it does let my account work, all of my cash back has disappeared (and on my next check I was supposed to receive over $60). I finally decided to sign out and sign back in. It keeps telling me I have the wrong password (I have it saved and update them if I do change it, so it shouldn’t be wrong), and when I requested a password change email, it wouldn’t send (I checked junk folders too). I have requested the email several times and it still hasn’t come. I never had any of these issues when it was still branded Ebates, and they only started once it was branded Rakuten.

Poor customer service. Wow now I see, it happens not only to me. My account got deactivated with no warning, and literally no reason. I had an account and of course I tried to make my friends to download the app too, so I can have referral bonus which they promote so much. And then one day my account just got suspended. I tried to contact customer service but no response for months. I created myself a new account, and almost after couple days got deactivated again. Again without knowing what happened, of course I didn’t get any cash back. Months later my friend suggested I should use her referral link and I did, and couple days later my account got deactivated again. And of course i didn’t get any cash back. And finally customer service responded to me and said that there is abuse from my side, what abuse I didn’t understand. Also, they won’t even unsubscribe me from the email list even though I asked them directly because I can’t do it from my account. I used to love this app, but it became really privilege.

App & Store Websites Freezing. I am a huge Ebates/Rakuten fan and have told family & friends about the website and app for years; However, the changes and updates, that have taken place over the past months have stopped my usage of the app almost completely. The changes that occurred months ago, that changed the flow and setup of the stores on the app, made finding information on stores with information on stores offering “in store cash back” hard to locate. In the past, this was an option I chose quite frequently, now it’s difficult to even find where that information is located. However, it is the more recent app “up-dates” that have stopped my app usage. Regardless of my WiFi strength and/or cell phone signal, every-times I’ve tried to complete a shopping transaction, the stores’ website either freezes, refuses to load or stops completely. After months of shopping ‘trips’ that have failed to completely and ended only in a great deal of frustration and where I’ve ended up making our ages elsewhere,I figure it’s not worth my time and effort to use Rakuten’s services anymore. Such a disappointment!

Difficult. I agree w the Cloudryer review. Ebates has become user un-friendly since they switched their name to Rakuten. We don’t get the refunds on purchases consistently and it’s too much trouble to write and ask for a rebate when it’s over a few dollars. Def don’t use it as much anymore, not worth the hassle (& the rebates are very low for the work involved). We used to purposely go through Ebates every time we booked a room through Hilton Honors (not expecting anything anymore) and only once did we get any credit (we have long stays and pay a lot for our stay, a big reason to use Rakuten). The one time we ended up getting cash back was only after we went through a long and hectic process having to prove all over again to that we went through them, stayed at the hotel, and paid in full.

Not all what it’s cracked up to be. I was excited to be able to “earn” money back on items that I needed (or maybe wanted) to purchase. Sadly, more often than not most of “shopping trips” were lost. Many still showed up but I had to contact them and have them look into what happened. I was having to keep a ledger of the items, stores, dates, shopping trip numbers and whether I received credit for it. You couldn’t contact them too soon because some stores take much longer to give the necessary info before they can credit your account. Basically, it is very easy to forget about some of them, especially when you only have access to view your shopping trips for a limited amount of time. Then I’ve come to learn that sometimes the store feels that it doesn’t fit their requirements so they don’t approve it! I make sure to read all the fine print and bought within the guidelines and nothing. I was told, it’s the company’s doing. I wouldn’t waste too much time or expect to get a lot of money back from this company.

Stick to other apps.. I used to have ebates a few years back and I liked it, but at the time I didn’t have that much money to spend, so I had only earned a little bit back then. After seeing rakuten being advertised to me, I decided to use it. I started off by earning $10 cash back for using one of those meal kit websites. I earned it! Then It said that if a purchase of $25+ was made, I’d earn $20. I had earned a total of $30, and was excited to receive my “big fat check.” Suddenly, after a few days my total went down to $0. I emailed back and forth and they accused me of making a second email when all they were seeing was my old ebates account. I solved this issue by combining my accounts. But I only had $10 in the end because they accused me again of making an account to invite when I invited my little sister to use it. They choose to not believe me because I paid for her order like I pay for everything else of hers. Never received those $20, nor did I ever receive $20 for inviting someone to use the app. I’m sticking to ibotta. This app just scams you.

Rakuten is rascally and deceitful website. I don’t know what happened to my account. And now I cannot login to my account anymore. I told to my family and friends who had and used Rakuten. They also had the same issue. Now let me tell all customers a true, and this is a real thing just happened to my family and friends. This website is a scammer's website. I have joined and used this site for several years. After that I recommend it to my family and friends. They also registered and used this website. However, when the cash back on their account reached a certain amount, this site started to play rogue. I have just discovered that this website not only freezes my family, friends and my accounts, but also confiscates all the accumulated cash back. When this website obtained personal information such as my family, friends and my email information, name, phone number and address, it began to restrict and freeze the accounts of all people related to me. It turns out that this is the real purpose and marketing means of this site. It deceives us consumers. Now I don't care about the money, I just do my duty to tell the truth because it violates the basic rights of consumers. I show my personal experience to let more consumers no longer be hurt and deceived. Consumers with the same experience can call 311 to report and complain.

Rakuten refuses to give referral bonus. I can’t help but wonder if this is a scam. I was initially so excited, so I referred 4 people. With each referral and my own referral, the sign up bonus will show up in my account, only to disappear a week or two later. I’ve had to email each time to have it come back. It makes me suspicious about this app, especially since they aren’t very good at responding. I will not refer anyone else until this situation is fixed and I feel assured that this problem is fixed. In fact, until then, I will actively advice AGAINST using this app. Update: Rakuten emailed me to inform me that I can’t have more than one user. I explained I DO NOT have more than one account. I live on a campus of 1,000 people, which is why some of my referrals have the same address as me (which I did include my room number so that shouldn’t matter). They have not responded and are now ignoring all of my attempts to reach out. They are also telling all of my friends on campus that I referred or the one that referred me the same thing. They also explained that these are different households. Rakuten will not respond or follow up their end of the referral process. I am now shopping for a different cash back app that is more cooperative and easier to communicate with (Rakuten ONLY allows email), after which we will all be switching. My advice - go with a different app. This company is dishonest and uncooperative.

Awful. I used to be a devoted Ebates evangelist. I made hundreds in cash back christmas shopping and found using the app easy and worth the slightly more labor intensive shopping online. Since the switch to Rakuten I have had NOTHING but issues. The app never works to finalize orders, always error codes and because the transactions get past the point where the CC is run the pending charge hangs in my account despite me needing to exit the app, log into the sellers site directly and complete my order, losing the cash back incentive. Besides not earning a penny since the switch, my ebates, now rakuten credit card has also become a complete headache. Snafus with payments not registering, causing late fees and subsequent calla to customer service whose explanations for the errors are not only ludicrous (“your late fee was removed due to our error but it was added to your minimum payment due” ...what??) but I was hung up on after my last call disputing another billing error. I’m done with rakuten, it makes me so sad - Ebates was awesome, easy and never felt like a scam. Rakuten is a racket and I’m onto it now. Paying off the cc and calling it a day. Waste of my time and energy with zero payoff.

It was a good app. Not so much anymore. I’ve received a few good checks from shopping on here. I do forget to go through the app first and then I wanna kick myself bc the cash back was good. Anyway the past few months I have been shopping through the app first and Macy’s has been 10% cash back a few times. Especially after thanksgiving. Every single shopping trip they did not acknowledge my 10% cash back. One trip they said I didn’t shop and gave me 0 when I did shop ! They should link our accounts like Ibotta does so we don’t miss any Cash back ! I have all proof of my shopping trips with 10% cash back and they still say no. Lol. It’s unfair. Unless they change and give us what we deserve they will lose me and I brag about them to everyone! Not anymore unfortunately. My last few shopping trips were not through them but through Ibotta. They give cash or gift cards. I already made $80 in a few months. Please change Rakuten it’s really not cool what is happening, not cool at all. :(

Not what it used to be, at all. Missing rebates often. I’ve been a loyal Ebates (now Rakuten) customer for the past 4 or so years with a total rebate amount of $2500 or so and have referred others as well. I have also told everyone I know about it. In the past few months, I’ve noticed that while I use this app/site the same amount as I did before, I’m only receiving emails about the shopping trips and the actual money back maybe 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 times I use it. If I look at the log of shopping trips, there are maybe 2 reimbursed out of maybe 6-8. I’m not sure what they’re doing but whatever it is probably isn’t affecting their reimbursements that they get from the merchants. I’ve seen some of their responses on here that tell others with negative experiences to “contact us about missing transactions.” We shouldn’t have to contact them about missing transactions when we’ve used their site to purchase something. They should be doing it as promised and not just applying the rebates when and if people ever contact them about it. That’s shady and I for one don’t have time to do that nor do I have the time to screenshot and keep up with everything. That’s their responsibility. So, unless it changes, I’m probably going to stop using them because at least then there won’t be an expectation from me that I’ll be getting any money back.

Woah free money $ not a scam!. I don’t know what the catch is. But I’m just mad I didn’t know sooner. I cannot even imagine the amount of money I left on the table!!! All I can think about is where I shopped in the last year and free money was just wasted!!! So much!!! Please note I haven’t been paid yet as in money hasn’t been deposited. I’ve made $25 in less than two weeks and I’ve been tame with the shopping. No work at all. Free money. **One warning - make sure you click on the actual cash back for the particular store that you’re shopping at (either online or in the store)and then the app activates a “shopping trip” and that’s how you get paid so big step to remember. That’s IT! No receipt pictures or downloads or entering anything. You link your credit card and the app tracks what you spend. Instant cash into your account. (I use PayPal) ***Minor annoyance is that I didn’t click and create the shopping trip a few times and missed cash back. Not sure if the cash back could be retroactive and applied or not so I wrote to customer service asking.

YOU HATE MONEY IF YOU DONT DOWNLOAD THIS APP. I saw the commercials for this app a couple years ago, to be honest I thought there had to be a catch, some fee or charge or anything negative... but I downloaded it anyway, didn’t hurt to check. Wow, BOY OH BOY, am I glad I did. It’s LITERALLY FREE MONEY! I swear you just go into the app, see if a store you’re already purchasing from is on there and then just click shop and do your normal online shopping and wake up and BAM , money back. Sometimes it’s little like .10 cents but sometimes it’s big like 10 dollars. With all the online shopping people do these days you might as well see if you could be earning money back for shopping there! So far I’ve gotten over 400 DOLLARS CASH BACK! Whaaa! Insane! Think about that. I would have bought all that stuff anyway, but now I have 400 in my account I wouldn’t have had before! THANK YOU RAKUTEN FOR EXISTING, I LOVE YOU & I tell everyone about you! I’m a forever customer xx

Saving on things already buying is a win!. Love the concept and it’s pretty darn good in practice. The only things - sometimes the browser interface doesn’t work correctly with the store’s web site so I try to get everything I need in the cart and then open in Rakuten, but when I forget, then I lose $. Other day, chose a florist, app was being wonky, so went to Safari to get everything into cart, only to forget to go back to Rakuten to make the purchase. - Lost $6. Also, my mom hooked me up by talking this app up and sending me the referral and all that. I finally looked… mom is always right! But she never got the $30 referral credit even though I used the link… think it might’ve been bc I used Apple sign in, not my email address. But then cx service never responded to my request to resolve it. Which stinks for mom. I easily see a 5-star rating in the future though with improvements I’ve seen in even the past couple weeks.

The most used app on my phone. Not that I need to do shopping everyday, but I like to see when Rakuten releases new cash back percentages. That makes me want to go visit that website and see what kind of sale they have, and take advantage of both sale and cash back. I do a lot of online shopping that all I need to do it click activate, and they’re doing the hard part for me. Which is, looking for the most up to date coupons and getting cash back. I rave about it to all my friends and family. Sometimes it’s a small percentage given back, but boy do they add up over time! It’s a nice chunk of change in your mailbox every few months. I recently was missing cash back so I reported it. They use an automated messaging system on the app. I normally hate speaking to an automated messaging system because it never understands the questions I ask back. But, this one, was 100% the easiest and most helpful system. It got straight to the point, and was able to track my missing cash back within a couple minutes. I wish all websites/apps were this simple to use!

Amazing. Not a scam.. Cash back rewards are the best kept secret for helping people find savings where they thought they didn’t have any. This is an amazing app, I highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you Rakuten, I’m very happy with the situation! I only wish more retailers got involved and that the cash back rewards were higher for some retailers, but maybe if more people participate, that could happen. Rakuten is a win-win for everyone! So far no downsides. It does what it says it does. No hidden catches. Just be really careful if you use your mobile phone to pay attention when making sure if something is eligible and that for in store purchases, you have gone through the app first so it records the sale! Its easier if you’re on your desktop or laptop if you have the Rakuten button installed because it will pop up but I missed out the first few times in store and online with purchases on my mobile phone before I realized that part wasn’t automatic (unless it’s dining in or delivery orders I think?) , that you have to go through the app to get it. Thanks again!

They don’t give large rebates. At first the cash back was awesome, until I learned that they only give you the small amounts. When you have something that is a large amount you never get it. I’ve placed orders and got the cash back with in a couple hours. But when I placed an order through Factor a few weeks ago (when there was 60% cash back) I never got it. I’ve sent multiple emails and they said they needed the order confirmation. I emailed Factor and had them send me an email with the info sent to to ratuken like they asked, and Ratuken said they still had to wait for factor to confirm the order directly. Well it took Factor less than a day to respond to me twice. Ratuken hasn’t responded to me again and it’s been 2 weeks. I’ve sent another message about missing cash back and I’m waiting again. The other time was when I referred a friend and we were both suppose to get $40. We got the $40 then they took it back with no explanation.

It’s not a scam!!. So I had heard about EBATES here and there and thought yeah, right. They’re going to give me cash back for shopping. Sounds like a scam but after some research it’s true! My first check was for about $14 but that’s $14 that I wouldn’t have received if I didn’t go through EBATES. It’s so easy!! (Laughing because I sound like an infomercial) Get the app. Click on it and see the store that you want to shop at or search for the store name if you don’t see it. EBATES sends you automatically to your selected store and also tells you how much percentage of money spent you will receive back. Done! The EBATES app is very easy to use. Finding the store names is a very easy process and so are all the various help/questions & answers sections. I’ve been referring all of my friends and hopefully they will decide to use EBATES too. Of course getting referral cash back would be nice but I truly want them to use EBATES because we can all need a little cash back reward for shopping. Thank you EBATES!

Shame on the company. When I was invited to use this app, it told me that I can get $20 reward, while later they cancel the reward and announced that only American user can get the reward. That’s okay! Last year, I used this app purchased on skinstore.com, and the reward was tracked soon. After 3 months, it showed that the reward was available. When I was gonna to get the reward paid, my account was unavailable and I reported it immediately. Another 30 days past, I was informed that the order cannot be confirmed. That’s ridiculous because they even didn’t resolve the locked account problem.

Jess. Brilliant, Excellent, will use it a lot:)!

Ms. No problems so far

Great. Great

Amazing. All my shopping needs on one app with fantastic rewards

Scammers. They cancelled my Rakuten account bc I shop too much. They stole the remaining money in my account, locked me out and told me to go elsewhere. Rude and given me no answers.

Awesome App. Ebates is a great way to shop and now even better with your new autofill feature! Thank you!

Best shopping app. Amazing app!! Love the cash back.

Great app, always check it for cashback before I go shopping online!. Love it

Absolutely terrible app. The app continuously crashes and freezes. It’s not compatible with other retailer apps so it’s quite inconvenient when trying to log in, creating a loop over and over of trying to sign in the retailers account. The extension doesn’t help either and is a bigger pain to try to manage. So much for easy shopping. The headache is not worth the cents you get back not to mention rakuten gets all your information if you allow them to.

New app icon design is fugly. Unless of course you’re cheering on the British NHS. Then full marks.

Joke of a company. App has little bugs and is hard to shop through, which would be tolerable if you actually got cash back, but it’s a joke. Made a few purchases, and every single time the company “did not provide cashback for this purchase” so you have to contact member services and convince them you actually made the purchase. My guess is that Rakuten makes their money by taking cashback payouts from companies, not giving it to the customers, and hoping that the customer just gives up. I actually feel stupid for giving them the benefit of the doubt at first.

I love Rakuten(ebates) but I hate the app. Honestly just got so frustrated I came here to write this review. I love Rakuten, I love earning cash back but I can’t tell you the number of times I have lost out on “hot” items because the app kept crashing. For example, I was just trying to purchase a pair of cashmere pants that were on sale for $34 (from $120) and the app crashed so much that the pants were sold out by the 5th refresh. Use Rakuten (I absolutely love the cash back program) but use it on your computer!!

Canadian users beware. Downloaded this thinking it had an option to toggle between Canada and US Rakuten. Turns out it only supports the US version and only lists US-based deals.

cannot change country. how to change US to CA

Going downhill. Can someone tell me why I’ve had to notify customer service every time I make a purchase and it doesn’t show up in my ‘Shopping trips’? I even give it 3-5 business days. Ever since they switched from EBates I’ve had this issue. Before it was quite seamless.

Deactivated account. Placed orders with 15% rebate but got 4.3% instead. After contacted Rakuten, they chose to deactivate my account and they claimed that it was because I returned several orders from the merchant which I found unreasonable. Looks like they will terminate your account if you return any orders. 👎

Misleading 🤬🤬🤬. they will email you about the rebate amount but it never shows up on the account unless you email them about individual transaction. this is very dishonest and time wasting. 😡😡😡

Terrible for Canadians. I hate this app. There is no way to switch to the .ca site and it always links to the American sites. Create an app for Rakuten.ca !!

Can’t sign in. I haven’t been able to sign in. I followed up with two emails to the company. Didn’t receive anything back. Will not be using this again.

Never trust. After installing i have sent refer code to some of my friends and they do first their purchases, so the app give me 30$ for each one, but I couldn’t reedem it and they block my account… never trust to this app.

False advertising!!! Cash back not given. If getting cash back from using Rakuten is just by “luck” or if the vendor “feels like giving it to you”, then maybe don’t do false advertising so I assumed purchases made thru Rakuten will be given cash back. Made a purchase at Sephora on July 6th, status of cash back kept showing “pending”, until today when I went back to check, it changed to “$0” cash back and also said “Sephora did not provide cash back for this order”... I didn’t use any coupons, discount codes or do anything funny for this order, not sure why this happens.

Never paid out. I’ve been using this app for a couple years now. It’s a great concept and has a large variety of stores. My issue with this app is they never pay you out until you chase after them. Every single pay out period I have to contact them and wait to be approved to have my cash paid out. They claim to pay you out on certain days of the year automatically to either PayPal, Amazon gift card or check. I’ve yet to have this happen automatically and without a hassle.

Terrible App. I have not received any cash back for 2023, and I have definitely earned some (they owe me over 100$) I use the app, and shop on it, every couple of weeks. Customer service can never be reached, it’s atrocious, I feel totally ripped off! I have been using this app for a long time, I joined years ago when it was still Ebates. Very disappointing!

Terrible for Canadians. The app is beyond frustrating to use as a Canadian. All the stores default to the US sites so you have to switch to their Canadian counterparts before you can do any shopping. Then once a purchase is made, the money NEVER gets added to your account automatically. I’ve made multiple purchases and have had to contact customer service for every individual rebate, which can take months before you actually see the money. Not sure why they advertise in Canada as it’s a very difficult app to use.

The worst. This company used to be good when it was called ebates. They tried to tell me that I was only getting back 3 percent back on an order that was over 200$ from clearly contacts .. it was set at 10 percent. After several emails they finally agreed upon the 10 percent. They are crooks do not use this site.

The referral bonus is a scam. I successfully referred my friend and we both got $30. However, Rakuten deleted the money from both of our accounts and are not providing any help to get them back.

Canadian vs USA. Downloaded the app from the Canadian AppStore and noticed it sends me to the USA site. Almost used it by booking on expedia. No way to switch to Canadian rakuten site

Amazing. Amazing

Endless loops when editing info. This app sends the user into an endless verification feedback loop when trying to change/update settings. Also has a contact us feature that seems to go nowhere as there is never a reply.

Has its own schedule…. I’ve tried using the Rakuten Canada app a few times and it’s got a mind or an agenda of its own. Very frustrating when you want to quickly and easily purchase something! Also difficult to navigate to the Shopping Cart after adding items.

Horrible. Impossible app that locks you out when trying to change password and tech support is useless.

Site not honest. They don’t respect their amount of cash back and sometimes they didn’t add any cash back

Extension does not work in Canada. Only works with Rakuten.com but not Rakuten.ca

Good app. This app is great for earning cash back when i remember to use it! Would be great if when you click on the site for cash back it take you to your app where you have everything already in cart. I think I’d like that better than having to use a mini browser with in Rakuten. Other than that I like it.

Notifications. I’ve only been a member for almost two months and I’m finding Rakuten very well. The only issue I’m having with the app is that I don't see notifications even though I have it turned on. If this can be solved, please look into it.

Great. I have just signed up and am wondering why I did not start to purchase Through them before. Can't wait to start especially with Christmas shopping.

Amazon Deleted. During this time of lock down you delete Amazon, how convenient 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

New to this. Just started and already loving it!!

Love... howevever. Even when cash back is higher I only ever get 1% back. Waited to buy stuff on amazon at 6%, was rewarded 1%... every-single-time!!!!!

Dishonest and unrealistic. There are so many clauses, so many little details, even if you manage to get cash back they will skimp on it and give you less and find reasons to do so. Extremely dishonest app and service. Try Drop... I’ve never had even 1 issue with Drop and with Rakuten I have to follow up with them after EVERY purchase

Why is there no gift card shop page?. Dear Rakuten Canada operations department: 1) I wanna know why you dont have the "Rakuten gift card shop" category/page on this app of yours? 2) Also why cant I see my payment history on here?

Complete scam. Complete scam especially for big % cashback and purchases. Support is not helpful too and keep on not working to remediate cashback issue. Dont download to save you your high blood pressure and headache.

Canada - this is NOT what you want. This is for Rakuten.com, not Rakuten.ca. Canada do not download. I wish it explained that clearly somewhere. Once downloaded it does not clearly let you sign into your .ca account to link. Very sad.

No rebates. Was an awesome App before Rakuten! Now I rarely get money back on my orders.

Does not work. I have used this app for Amazon purchases and hotels.com bookings. The app does not recognize that something was bought most of the time and when you go to correct it afterwards, tracking the purchase is near impossible. Complete waste of time.

Coconutlady. The simplicity of shopping via the app or on the web and the amazing promotions got my attention, but I still had doubts about getting the cash back. During the holidays, there was a 10% cash back on Dyson products. I had been looking at the new air purifier/humidifier and knowing I needed 3 machines ( $1000 CAD each) I bought them via Rakuten . At that price, any discount is welcome ! My family and friends made fun of me for believing that I would get the cash back in February . I got my « big fat cheque » recently and the amount was exactly as promised. I really could not believe my luck ! Thank you Rakuten for being the real deal !

CC. It’s very difficult to get my cash back from shopping channel. It’s been now three months and I’m still waiting. Is there a problem? Are we living in the Stone Age? I think something is wrong but nobody’s contacting me. Secondly made a purchase from Aldo and I also didn’t receive cash back put in a complaint nobody’s gotten back to me the service has really deteriorated. I don’t know if they’re shortstaffed or they just don’t care about their clients, considering the amount of advertising y’all do on TV and other social medias you would think you would be that you would be quick to resolve the customers issue, especially the small amounts reconsidering this whole Rakuten thing

Garbage app. Keeps telling me my log in is incorrect for the shopping site I’m trying to log in to when I just changed my password, no way it is incorrect. Tried several times.

Delayed. Very delayed in issuing your cash back. Amazon was listed for 6% cash back, we only received 1% and it was almost 2 weeks after our purchase. I wish this app was geared more towards in store purchases. Overall, not impressed

Liars & Crooks!. They refuse to respond to multiple requests for what happened to my cash back. I booked a hotel through here and did not receive my 6% cash back. Had I known they would be crooks I would have booked through a company with a little more integrity.

Still haven’t been paid. I did all my Christmas shopping through the app and never got my payment. I message customer service 3 times and got no reply.

$.23 on a $230 item. Not worth the paper the chq would be written on

Too easy. Just check out the Rakuten app before you make a purchase. If the store you are purchasing from is on the Rakuten list, grab the free moneeey!!:D

Not for Canada. Safari Extension doesn’t work in Canada. Keep redirecting to US site

Scammers. They’ll honour the rebate when it’s a small amount but anything over $100 and they’ll find every single way to avoid paying. Doesn’t matter how many receipts you show them or show them the activity on the Rakuten account, they always refuse to pay. They refuse to honour a $150 credit card application to Scotiabank despite Scotiabank sending me an email confirming the transaction. This platform is a scam. You’re better off using one of the others.

You could have added your gift card store to this app of yours. Please either put your gift card shop page on this app or a link to it cause WHAT WOULD BE THE POINT OF DOWNLOADING THIS APP IF WE CANT ACCESS THE FULL FEATURES as available on your desktop and mobile website?

Useless.. The whole point of using this as a consumer is to receive the cash back. I (along with my wife), have not received our payment from February. After dealing with customer service, they say they have no record of my purchases from that time. We both have $25 referrals along with cash back from purchases that they say they have no record of. Don’t bother supporting this company.

Worst App Ever. Horrible Customer Service that never responds!

I like it.. So I’ve been using Ebates for about two years or so. I’m honestly very pleased with it & yes I do agree with some of the other reviewer‘s that sometimes it does log you off but I just go through the Internet instead of the app. Only because sometimes it says my credit card information is incorrect or I’ll go to through the app and I won’t receive the cash back. But overall Ebates is great because when I use it directly from online I always get my cash. So basically you have somewhat of a grace period so if you don’t have the items in your cart or know what you want it won’t give you the cash back because you’ve taken too long. But at the end of the day who can’t go wrong with 16% off or 10% off there’s not really that many sites that will give you back money for shopping unless you’re doing reviews or something.

Proud to be Ebates user. I learned about Ebates about 5 months ago and now I save a ton of money on items I buy anyway. The best part I save money by ordering online and having items I need shipped directly to my door. Spend less time going to the store and less gas by not having to travel to the store. It’s a win win and then every 3 months I get a % check wow it’s great. I have already received 1 check and I’m working on my next check coming in November. Already up to over a 100 dollars check coming . I buy household needs toilet ,paper towels ,shampoo ,laundry soap ,monitor I needed , and just simply everything I would have purchased anyway. It’s cool Ebates even finds me coupons I did not have to search for. Guys this is for real and I love it . Bless you Ebates you are an awesome app.

When app works its great -but many issues with tracking shopping trips. I am having the same issues as mentioned by others since this apps conversion from Ebates I find I have to keep checking to ensure I get credit for purchases. I do everything correctly going thru App to make a purchase and even see check mark that purchase is tracked correctly but then I never get the cash. App response they have to wait for store to let them know about purchase. However I have made smaller purchases through same store(Sams club) and I get those credits but conveniently my large purchase they say store didnt notify them. I have emailed them and its been several weeks and according to reps can take 10wks for them to be notified. Who has that kind of time to chase down that purchase. It makes using the app frustrating and if continues to happen not worth the aggravation.

I love eBates ❤️ ❤️. I’ve been using eBates since at least 2010. My lifetime cashback bonus is amazing!! Sometimes I’ll get .08, at times over $20 for one transaction. Since those pennies keep adding up, I always remember to click on eBates first!! There is no better site that’ll give you free cash just to do your online (and now in-store) shopping. I’ve had no problems with eBates posting my cashback (unless it’s store-related) & I find their customer service excellent. I’ve referred friends & family, & though I once found they did not credit me for the referral, I have had no other issues since. Other sites have “hidden” requirements/cashback minimums and do not post or pay back on time, which makes using them a waste of time and very irritating. I just LOVE eBates.

Poor customer service. This company needs an overhaul especially in the customer service area. Don’t try to contact anyone for assistance because it is the most frustrating experience ever. The app’s automated assistant is a complete joke, so don’t waste your time! But there’s no other way to get an actual person - it takes DAYS to get an email response, which results in an incompetent “helper” who cannot solve a simple issue. I’ve had money (cash back) on a legitimate, approved purchase added to my account, only to find days later that it’s been removed from my account, with NO explanation or notice. Even with proper documentation sent to the support email THREE times, nothing is resolved. Utterly unbelievable. Until there are competent and intelligent people employed here, who have an understanding of true customer service, I Do Not recommend this app.

Savings could be better. This site offers great savings, especially for big families with several children, like ourselves. At one time, we had 6 school-age kids in our home with our blended family. The only downside that I personally have experienced is several websites I frequently order from do not offer much in the way of cash back savings, only smaller percentages like 2% to 4%. And some offer no cash back savings at all! I have been ordering most everything online for years, way before this COVID-19 mess came into play, for everything from Christmas gifts to school uniforms & shoes (and with buying for 6 kids, we could use all the savings we can get!) simply for convenience purposes. This is my reason for only giving 4 stars. Will continue using this site & hope to see better savings in the future.

Don’t count on the friend referrals. If you use the app to get cash back, it does the job but your friend referrals will disappear before they get a chance of being cashed out. And you can’t even cash it out at will. They control when the money can be sent out. It’s infuriating that when you refer friends that the money has a chance of disappearing before the cash out date. I sent a message and they said that they’re transferring me to a “specialist” and I have yet to hear from them again. This is really making me not want to use this app anymore. The cash back you get from buying from their stores won’t disappear so that’s safe but after this, I don’t want to support them cause there are other ways to get cash back like using PayPal. Why would I let them make a commission from my purchases and my friends’ purchases when they won’t honor the $30 friend referral?

Oh my goodness.. I just wrote what I thought was a review. When I checked to see if it was listed, it was just a feedback that just goes to the company. I’m not a complainer but, after more than an hour on the app. trying to get help, I decided to share. I needed help on some issues I was having. I saw the help pop up in the corner. They said to use the link. I did and wrote a detailed question to help me. After trying to be as precise as I could I hit send. My response? A message that said, “failed”. This has happened before but I thought it was something I did and didn’t think much of it. I let it go. Today though I went back to the little help box in the bottom corner to ask what to do now. I got some response that had nothing to do with the question. Finally it popped up with, I’m an AI BOT. Really? You can’t call, you can’t write and send. They advertise all over the “T.V.”, maybe they should take some of that money and hire humans. After seeing several other reviews, I see I’m not the only one. Good idea. Poor management. Thanks, for listening 🤷🏼‍♀️

A Great Company!. I have been using Rakuten for about 4 years now and lately I have been watching my spending so the past few years I haven’t used it much at all. When I was notified by them to pick what team and size I wanted in a starter jacket I was shocked, cause I never win any giveaways or drawings. This was no drawing or contest they just wanted to give me a free basketball starter jacket, they also let me pick the size and team I wanted. When it arrived I couldn’t believe what a beautiful jacket they gave me for nothing, I chose the New York Nicks and let me tell you it’s beautiful. I am so appreciative that they gave me this jacket, today nobody gives you anything for free, so thank you Rakuten for thinking of me.

New to Rakuten. I’ve always been a thrifty shopper and purchased things on sale or clearance. Three months ago online I came across Christa coupons talking about couponing and posting her deals. I was in awe with the money being saved. So, that began my mission to begin couponing/saving. In her video she was also talking about Ebates/Rakuten and how to save even more money when you shop, so I downloaded the app and I’ve been saving since. I’m not good with electronics and I was concerned that I wouldn’t be able to figure out the Ebates/Rakuten app, but it was easier than expected. Being disabled I do most of my shopping online and this app has saved me so much money. I’m loving the app just mad at myself for not downloading it sooner. If your about saving money anyway you can this app is for you!!

Missing money again. Twice now I had money in my account just vanish. When I contacted them they want all kinds of info like purchase date, purchase number, and even the tax on the item and many other things. Is that not in your system since I’m buying everything through your app. I don’t like leaving negative ratings but they make you jump through hoops to try and get your money back that was already approved in your account. You can’t get your money whenever either they have certain dates they payout and it’s usually like 3 or 4 months between. That wouldn’t be the biggest deal except my money always vanishes before the payout dates. Kinda sketchy if you ask me and this second time I’ve still gotten my money back. I’m done with this app because I’ve found a much better one and won’t recommend this app to anyone. I only found it because of the payed YouTubers who shill the heck out of it 🤦🏻‍♂️

Pretty Good. I used Rakuten a few times the other day and it was pretty easy. I always forget to check here before ordering directly from the seller. All was going well except for my last transaction. I can’t tell if it actually went through. I don’t see a PayPal transaction nor anything from the vendor. There was a pop-up, “we’re sorry, we’re currently unable to display exact charges and/or savings. Your credit card will be billed the correct amount, and actual charges/savings will be reflected on your packing list and in your order history”. I don’t know that it was a problem with the connection between Rakuten or the vendor. I just would like to know if I’m getting the item I was ordering, because I can still order it for the same price, today.

Referral program has issues. The cash back is legit and has paid with no issues. The referral program is another story. Referred a friend, she made the minimum purchase and neither of us received our bonus. On my app it says lending her purchase. When I look it up an the help section it reads that her account doesn’t exist. Tried repeatedly to send messages through member services and no response, so help. I’m not even sure they are going through. I see a spinning wheel the nothing. No comment that the message was received and no response through email. My friend is unhappy and doesn’t plan to continue with the app. I will continue using it, but not the referral program. We lost out in $40 each, which is a fair mount of money not to get. If the referral program worked as well as the cash back program it wound be a 5 star app.

Everyone needs this app!. I love this app. I was hesitant at first thinking it’s one of those scam type apps, but not at all. It’s more like a search engine that pays you, and I mean it really pays you with cash back. You can find most any stores and some offer cash back on all purchases. Let’s say one store called kalmart 😆 says 6% cash back, and I buy a laptop from kalmart through this app, I will get some real cash back and it sits on the app and the app pays you out once a month, you can choose to receive a check or direct deposit (my choice) over the last year just from buying my kids clothes pretty much and Christmas gifts and bday gifts from the normal stores I’d buy them at, I got paid over $50 now just from shopping through this app.

One step and money back!. Extremely easy to use. Open Ebates, select the store, shop, check out, and receive a check. I just received a check for $59. Here’s the longer version of my steps. Open this app, launch the store you want (there is a list of hundreds of stores (or use the search option)), select the one you want, and Ebates will launch that store’s app or open their website. Shop as you normally would and check out. That’s it, nothing else to do. Just make sure you launch this app before you pay. You can shop through the stores app as long as you are signed in. The cart will be as you left it. No need to start over. Note-Percentages of cash back change. One day it may be 2% the next day 10% (especially around the holidays).

Why doesn’t everyone use Ebates?!. I’ve been a member for many years and have received big fat checks totaling over $1000, and I don’t even do that much online shopping! I use Ebates when I book travel and any time I buy online. It’s easy and free to join, only takes a second to open the app or go to the Ebates site/use the Ebates “button” you can add to your toolbar, and then find the site you’re going to buy from. You automatically get a percentage of what you spend added to your Ebates account. Sometimes there are additional savings with coupons. Who doesn’t like free money?? Great app...never had any problems with it. And customer service has been excellent on those rare occasions when ebates weren’t credited. Always get a quick response and the problem is solved. Keep up the good work, Ebates!

A no-brainer if you shop online!. I have been using Ebates for many years, since shortly after it was launched. I do most of my shopping online, and over the years I have saved well over $1,000. Ebates has frequent promotions that offer double cash back deals (twice the usual rebate percentage) on a selection of stores, as well as other excellent offers. The app is great - easy to use and there’s always some great savings opportunities. How much you save depends on two things: how much you spend and where you shop, since the rebates for some stores are quite low (1%) and for others they’re quite high. If you shop online often, those savings will definitely add up over time, and it takes practically no effort on your part.

SCAM - NOT PAYING ME $230 I AM OWED. The most terrible customer service!! Their website has major technical issues and I am surprised to read a bunch of other reviews of other victims who went through the same thing as me and are also owed large amounts of money. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a business that doesn’t fix an issue when they make a mistake. I have followed literally ALL the terms to receive cashback, provided time stamped photo proof of the whole process including the shopping trip being created and the rakuten terms for the specific website I was shopping that day. Even though I did *everything* correctly and their website messed up, they are refusing to pay me the money I am owed. Imagine you deciding to make a very large financial purchase because you are banking on receiving that $230 of cashback, and then you lose that large amount of money because Rakuten’s website made a mistake and their customer service refuses to give you the money you are owed.

Good, but could be better.. I really love to use this app when I do online shopping. It’s useful and it’s legit. It takes a while to receive the cash back as it is distributed every quarter or so throughout the year, but it’s free money from my normal purchases, so I can’t complain. However, I do run into some hiccups here and there. Sometimes the cash back doesn’t go through or doesn’t recognize my purchase, which can be a bit frustrating. Prior to every time I click “submit order” for whichever website I am on, I always make sure the link is active so I know I will be receiving cash back. It’s a bit tedious, but nothing too horrible to go out of my way to do. Customer service can be a hit or miss. Recently when I reached out, I would get a response within 1-2 days, which I don’t mind. But years ago it was tough to get through to talk to a human person, so I eventually strayed away from Rakuten. This year I decided to get back into it and so far it has mostly been good experiences. Hopefully, customer service will stay the same if not improve more and maybe on my end, I just have to keep double checking to make sure my Rakuten link is active. Overall, I would recommend this app!

BEWARE. This WAS an excellent program. I now find it to be lacking in competence. I’ve had to contact the automated system due to not receiving my cash back on SEVERAL occasions even though I had proof of purchase. I had to jump through email hoops to send all the proof REPEATEDLY. I’m sure this is beneficial to the corporation that owns the app since most people aren’t paying close attention to their purchase & cash back. I’ve also seen cash back appear in my history & then disappear for whatever reason. Not the program it used to be. Also noticed MANY retailers no longer participating in this program. Just handled a problem regarding the dining program offers. My cards were linked to EVERY dining place and I did NOT authorize that action. I know this because not ONE of the restaurants are anywhere near me, I’ve never even heard of any of them that are on the list. Not sure where Rakuten thinks I live but CLEARLY they’ve got something screwed up in my account.

Cheats you and has awful customer support. I thought this app was great at first, I did all my shopping through it and recommended a lot of my friends and family so we could all get bonuses. I screws over $120 in bonus cash from all my referrals and one day it all got taken away from me and from those I referred for no reason. I kept trying to contact customer service to see about fixing this, I sent about 6 emails, but only got the same automated messages back saying that I must have broken one of the programs rules, which I did not. It’s a week later and I still have not received a response to where my $120 went. I was cheated by Rakuten and I can’t even get ahold of a real person to complain to because the only contact info they have is an automated system through the app and an email address that only sends automated messages. This whole experience has been so frustrating and disappointing that if I could give 0 stars, I would.

Faulty advertising. Just in case you with thinking of using rakuten I would highly steer u towards any other app out there. The reason is as follows....back before thanksgiving 2020 I had placed an order through rakuten app on the Tory Burch website buying about 500 dollars worth of things for my pregnant wife who has had a rough go of it, after her accident She has been in and out of hospitals and thought I would get her something nice. I noticed that rakuten was having a 10 percent back on anything from Tory Burch so I hoped on the band wagon which I assumed many people did for other retailers. After postponing my rebate by 14 days it just dropped off the payment inquiry and I guess forgotten about. I sent multiple emails with invoices from Tory Burch to rakuten and was met with “we will look into it” after a month I just received an email stating they can’t do anything about it and can’t do a refund. I am very disappointed in this app and will start using over rebate apps

Free Money Not A Scam!!. I’ve tried to get my friend to sign Up for Years! Everyone thinks it’s a scam, It’s NOT!!!! I Only shop when I need things If my kids needs shoes, clothes, Christmas Time. Anything I would normally buy Online Anyways! Today they’re having 20% cash back at many stores! AND If for some reason you forget to go through the app, you send them the online receipt and they will Give you the cash back. It’s so easy instead of logging onto example JCPenney you just go through their website click JCPenny and shop! I always watch the app for when they’re having big cashback days such as today is 20% Cash back. I’ve seen 3%, 15%, 13%, cashback either way if you’re going to shop online why Not earn some money?! It’s not a scam people! SIGNUP

5+ stars for cash back, 3 stars for usability. I love Rakuten for cash back on things I was going to buy anyway. I have installed it on most of the browsers on computers in our household. The interface for purchasing through the mobile app is slower than directly in a browser and doesn’t seem to allow direct access to password managers and form fills. I try to remember to use Rakuten, but sometimes forget because of the friction of remembering to switch. It is easier if I fill the cart on a regular browser or app, make sure I am logged in to my account, and then switch to Rakuten and login there (copying and pasting from my password manager) to get the cart to check out. Or do the same and switch to a laptop for the final transaction.

Love it!. I have been using this app for a long, long, long time. I remember in the beginning they didn’t have that many stores and the web browser plugin did not exist. This is how long I have been with Ebates and I love it!!! I have seen how they have grown. New stores in the app, the plugin addition, the buy in store, and so on. I have used all of them with no issues. Of course in the beginning I was scared of giving my PayPal information but never had any issues. I don’t understand how this works, all I know is that I get cash back from doing what I have been doing, purchasing online. If you are a person who does most of the shopping online you are loosing money if you do not have Ebates. I highly recommend this app. You can trust them.

Slow and failing to follow through with service. Bought a lego set during a 15% cashback offer with Rakuten, contacted customer support at least 5 times and took days to hear that will be a while still. How can they not give me the cashback when I made the order from their App and jump through so many hoops to prove I made a purchase with Rakuten!!!!! And all of my purchases so far I had to go through customer service to get it all filed and provide proof of everything. Time isn’t the issue! It’s Rakuten’s laziness to pick up its info is the issue! As much as I don’t lose anything but the fact that I should be getting cashback has made itself a liar to think the process is easy!

Free Money. I love this App! It’s seriously just free money! I did all my Christmas shopping last year through it and while it takes a small amount of extra time to go through a different app or wait for better cash back days… and I comparison shop a lot….it is well worth it. I ended up getting $194 back for buying things I was going to buy anyway! I took that money and bought a new chandelier for my dining room. My kids thought I was rediculous about it all until I forced them to use it just one time on something big they were planning to buy anyway…. And then they understood! I always get mad at myself when I’m forget to shop through Rakuten!! So I took all the store apps off my Home Screen so I wouldn’t forget and that helped I love Rakuten !!

Excellent shopping benefit!. I really enjoy using Rakuten, especially because most of my shopping is online. However, quite a few stores are now offering cash back when you shop in store. You just need to make sure to let Rakuten know about your purchase after you make it, which is incredibly easy. Don’t be intimidated, it is very straight forward and I have been using this app for about two years and there is no catch. Seriously. I choose to get my “Big Fat Checks” deposited into my private account and the deposit is automatically paid to me four times a year. Best shopping app I have ever used - I mean you’re shopping anyway, right? Why not get paid for it?

Always missing cash back. It’s a hit or miss. The good days is everything was tracked down and you get cash. The bad days, which is happening so often recently, are they miss them and you either have to spend a good amount of time digging out these “missed out” orders, providing them “evidence” that they need, and even if you provided what you were asked to provide at first they will ask for something else later, which to me is a waste of time for less than $10 cash back. And honestly they should be looking at their app and find out how these transactions were missed out, fix them and prevent it to happen again. Instead of coming to customer for bunch of info and then it misses again the next day.

Not Reliable. One has to be on top of his/her cashback statement as many cashback (specially high amounts) tend to magically not to be “captured” by the system. I’ve have had cashback from trip to sites such as Under Armour, Priceline and Verizon not show on the transaction list and/or the cashback statement as mentioned above that tend to happen when the cash back is a high amount which actually draw my attention (I wonder how much money I’ve lost because the amount wasn’t high enough to draw my attention to check). Many times after submitting a missing cashback request Rakuten would apologize and refund the money (it takes about a month). Other time they wouldn’t approve it citing that the merchant didn’t verify even though I provided them with a screenshot of the receipt, a Rakuten shipping trip id# and a merchant order number. Furthermore, if you use the app to shop the app doesn’t capture any additional discount the merchants offer “i.e. Military discount” while if you use the desktop version it works.

Absolutely amazing. I have never been so pleased with a company before. Everything they say that they do is true. This app has saved me so much money and they actually give it to you I have even received referral cash. I have made hundreds of dollars over the years. This is all free money. Everything I have purchased are things I would have bought anyway and this is in addition to the cash back I get on my credit card. I did all my Christmas shopping online last year just so I could use Ebates. Oh and now they finally allow mastercard for in store cash back so now I’m really earning a lot. This thing is amazing. Wish I could earn cash back on other things like gas and my bills. Wouldn’t that be nice. Thank you Ebates.

Totally scam. I saw there’s a refer bones $30, so I used my friend’s link and registered , and then successfully made a purchase. And then I also referred my another friend to register an account and he also made his own purchase. At first, Rakuten gave me $30+30 but they took away a few days later. I asked the customer service why they take my points away, they just replied they suspected that I and my 2 friends are the SAME person, so they won’t give my points back. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? They don’t even make a double check then thought that we three are the same person, even though we have different names, phone number, address??? And all of us lives in United States!! I replied the customer service that they made a wrong judgment and never got reply then. It’s just like a scam, to induce people to register and make a purchase. But finally make up a ridiculous reason to justify the behavior that they takes our points away. Very disappointed that Rakuten is like tricking their customer by this shady behavior.

Rude Customer Support. I signed up for Rakuten simply because of the welcome bonus offered at that time. A day later, I referred my friend. He realized he gave me the wrong email and asked me to refer the correct email address. He made a purchase using the second email only and we both received our bonuses. A few days later, my welcome bonus was gone. When I reached out to customer support, I was told it was because I had two accounts, which I did not. Threatening to deactivate my account if I made another account, I was given my bonus back. A few days later, I realized my referral bonus was now gone. The customer service rep stated that “any further abuse may lead to deactivation of all accounts”. I was not abusing the system at all. I will not be referring anyone else and I’ve read of so many others who have had problems with the referral program as well. I got my money back but the hassle and the aggression from the customer service representatives is not worth it.

Easy way to get some money. I like Rakuten, because It is very simple to earn some money when I shop online. All I did was add it as an extension to my browser on my laptop. Every time I search SOME website to shop, Rakuten Shows up on the Left up corner to let me know I may earn some cash back money. I also have its app on my cellphone to look in a glance what stores are offering cash back, because some days are more percentage than others. So, I use Rakuten every time I NEED to shop online. I haven’t tried IN STORE shopping yet. When it is time for them to pay me the cash back I have earned they send a (paper) check to my address I have provided them during enrollment.

SCAM!. Get you to refer people with there 25$ for you,10$ for your friend promotion. I referred my sister and two co workers they created accounts & made the qualifying purchases. got my 75$ they there 30$. Great... couple days later my sister 10$ was taken away my 25$ was taken away. Was told cause we have the same last name and same address we’ll duh saw this cool app and I wanted to let my sister know I would do the same with a sale going on or coupon share the good stuff. I was wrong apparently they want you to refer totally random people that have no connection to you. So now co workers few more days past my coworker said her 10$ were gone so I checked my account & sure enough another 25$ was gone. The reason this time none no response what so ever! I won’t be surprised tomorrow if it happens to the other coworkers I referred! And to think I was tell more people about this app & my co workers were gonna tell there people but after this all our accounts are getting deleted no use to us having a scam app.

Liars. They used to be so good in giving cash back and referral bonuses but just about two weeks ago I had referred friends and they made their qualifying purchase after signing up with my link and we all get our $40 bonus. But then after a couple days the bonus money disappeared from our accounts. I contacted them and after like 5 days they tell me “ At this time, we are not able to make any changes to your Rakuten account. Our program does not allow members to create or manage multiple accounts. In some cases, we do remove members from our program. Lastly, the bonus program is restricted to members within the United States and Canada. We regret that you had this experience with Rakuten. “ I DID NOT CREATE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS. If you DONT WANT TO give the money don’t but don’t lie and do false advertising. IF YOU PROMISE MONEY THOUGH THEN YOU SHOULD GIVE IT!!! So I suggest don’t download their app because they are not like what they used to be!!!!

HORRIBLE SERVICE 😡. I loved the app at first, especially during the holiday season. I referred so many people to the app. I was supposed to get $25 per referral, and the person I referred would get $10. I should have earned several $100 in referrals, but they took all the referral bonuses away from my account. The customer service is HORRIBLE. I had proof of my referrals, but they did not care. One of the friends I referred never got her $10 for downloading the app from my link, and I didn’t get the $25 (of course). She used them to purchase a cruise so she could get the cash back, they refuse to give it to her. This app is a joke!!! I hope they don’t do this to anyone else. I used this app over other ones bc I thought I would come out better in the end. Instead, I missed rewards I would’ve actually gotten from other stores that actually do what they say. I have told all my friends to stop using it, and then found out they none of them were getting their cash back & had already deleted the app.

Try it, you’ll love it.. The best shopping discount app. Period. So easy to use. It didn’t waste my time like some others I could name. Many, many stores and restaurants and hotels. The triple rebate specials are awesome. I’ve gotten solid rebates on our Apple iPhones, Roomba floor vacuum, etc. Just click through Rakuten on your mobile and go shopping. Then drop the rebates into your favorite bank savings account every three months, and better yet take one more step and send that savings account deposit on to your favorite micro investment tool. Do you know how much money you can grow for free from money that otherwise just goes away when you don’t use Rakuten? Thank you Rakuten for some sizeable rewards!!

Beware - Complete invasion of privacy?? Since the “contact us” won’t work, I’ll post here.... I would love to change this review, the app seems cool, but I don’t understand the complete invasion if privacy. I am just copy/pasting the message I was attempting to send to the Contact Us link, so I don’t have to re-type. Gmail users beware! This seemed so sketchy!! “Hi, I’ve just downloaded the app and selected to continue with my Gmail account. However I was met with a message informing me that “this will allow Ebates to: read, compose, send, and permanently delete all your email from Gmail”. I have a screenshot of the message, as well as a screenshot of the additional information I was able to get when clicking the exclamation point that appeared next to it. This seems highly suspect, and I’m sure many people would be uncomfortable with this if they bothered to read everything they’re agreeing to. Can someone please explain to me why this app requires complete access and control to my email account? Thank you.”

Missing Cash Back More Often Than Not. So far, I have a missing cash back rate of 60% of transactions. Past a month, I submit the requisite form to customer service, and I am *usually* credited. However, I still have a large purchase from Dyson that has not been credited yet pushing on two months. I have used other shopping portals before (Chase is the one I've used the most), and I've never encountered an issue with rebates that did not issue within two or three days. With Rakuten, more often than not they do not issue at all unless I report them as missing (and even then, not always it seems). Customer service is not terribly helpful and just responds in copy-and-paste boilerplate that never even entirely addresses the issue. At this point, Rakuten has lost my trust. There are other, more reliable shopping portals out there. Sometimes Rakuten's returns appear to be better, but they aren't if you don't actually get them (and you have to be vigilant and put in extra effort most of the time).

Difficult but worth it. This app is cool for being rewarded for your purchases. However be aware that it will glitch open (especially while you are in the process of buying your items from an affiliated site). It’s GREAT for linking your debit/credit cards and purchasing in store. No issues purchasing that way. Also, I have realized that the option to use AfterPay on sites that have that option as payment, will usually not show up when purchasing from the site through this app. Overall though, it’s cool! They’ll list deals and coupons for the stores that you’re shopping from that you can copy and use at check out.

Not Good For Travel Cashback. I used Rakuten for big travel purchase this summer but didn’t get my 10% cash back. I have been told that vendor didn’t provide them the cash back so they can’t give me my cash back. Even after providing the purchase confirmation and payment receipts I got only 2% cash back after 3 months out of my 10% cash back earned. Now they even stopped responding to my email replies. I will discontinue using Rakuten as they don’t seem to care about customers and there are many better options available. Had used Rakuten for other purchases before and they were good. But this experience was horrible. Also to note, cash back are not available to transfer until “Big Check” dates once a quarter. Other cash back services I used allow you to move money as soon as you earn minimum cash back.

Rascally and Deceitful Website. Rakuten is a deceitful website! I have joined and used Rakuten for several years, and the website was named Ebates before. After that I referred it to my family and friends. They also registered and used this Rakuten. However, when the cash back on my family’s, friends’s and my account reached a certain amount, this website started to play rogue. I have just discovered that this website not only freezes my family, friends and my accounts, but also confiscates all the accumulated cash back. When Rakuten obtained personal information such as my family, friends and my email, name, phone number and address, it began to restrict and freeze the accounts of my and all people related to me. It turns out that this is the real purpose and marketing means of this website! This is an act to deceive consumers. Now I don't care about the money, I just do my duty to tell the truth because it violates the basic rights of consumers. I show my personal experience to let more consumers know and no longer be hurt and deceived.

I got my credit card information stolen. I was purchasing a VPN through this app. While purchasing, I typed in my credit card information and was asked if I wanted to save the information, I accepted. After the transaction went through, the price of the service was charged on the card I usually use and is saved on apple wallet. The new card, with no other transaction prior, that I used and saved through the app started getting charges of thousands of dollars. This card was only used and saved in this app. I reported it to my bank and emailed this app letting them know of the incident. What I received from them is all denial and no investigation, not even a “we’ll look into it”. The first email I received a “let the third party know”. I explained that the third party didn’t even charge that card. And then I received a basically “Not our fault our system has been certified”.
