Bus tracker. Hands down very accurate app on the time schedule of the bus

No longer a good app. This used to be one of the best NYC bus apps available. No longer. If commuting before about 5:30 am, it no longer shows times for approaching buses, it just pulls data showing scheduled times - which is useless in NYC. It’s a shame, this used to be such a useful app, with a good interface.

Often wrong. Both misses buses that come and predicts ones that don’t. Both are majorly problematic, especially in terrible weather. I guess I don’t understand how these apps work if they are so inaccurate.

The worse new app I’ve ever seen. This app is totally unusable, whereas before you could tap your stop and it would give you all the times of buses stoping there , this app give you none , impossible to navigate , can’t understand what they were thinking …. Really sad as it was one of the most useful apps even though it was not perfect this iterating is ridiculous

The new version is terrible. It used to be simple, easy to use and reliable app. Now it’s difficult to find bus stops, saving favorite stops means nothing as I can’t find the list of saved stops, and the adds are relentless… The app no longer shows scheduled buses that are not yet on the move…

No More Countdown Time. This app was great but the recent versions have done away with the countdown in minutes and switched to scheduled military time. Needless to say this is useless and not in real time. I don’t know what idiot came up with this idea but they should be fired immediately. If this app doesn’t update and go back to the countdown in minutes in 2 weeks I’m deleting it. Why would you screw up such a great working app?

Bus checker. I was really loving this app it accurately tells you when the bus is coming but lately it will say no bus stops are there and I would go online to see where my bus is it still has army time I’m not in the army and I don’t know how to tell army time and when I’m waiting for the bus it’s not giving me the stop I’m standing at it’s giving me a bus stop down the block can these issues be fixed !!!

Easy to use and accurate for bus only. Would be nice if same accurate system works for MTA trains in NYc

Fix it!. Please please please fix the app. It use to be my #1 go to app when taking the bus. Now it just makes me mad every time I open it and see it still isn’t working right.

Lately completely wrong. Used it a bunch yesterday and today and it was very wrong 90% of the time. It used to be good. Other apps were accurate so it wasn’t the data.

Saving me a fortune. I can now leave my office and know the bus will be there in 2 minutes. No more waiting for ever and giving up and taking a taxi.

Very Satisfied.. I love live this APP I have used it in 2 Boroughs QUEENS, BROOKLYN and it’s wonderful. Once in a while you have system down. But when it comes to bus schedule they are 99% Accurate. Thanks for this APP. I don’t drive and this app has been a blessing and a time saver for me.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Don't get rid of this app!. Still the most reliable second only to the text the bus stop number!!!

Not helpful. This used to be somewhat accurate and helpful but the past couple of months it’s been totally inaccurate. Buses show up when no bus is due and a bus that is supposed to be 2 min away takes 25 min, but says two min the whole time. I get things might get a bit off sometimes, but have come to realize this app is as useless as the timetables. As totally unreliable as the MTA.

Lousy. I used to love this app, since u decided to change to 24 hours time it’s the worst. I wold suggest the people who decided to up grade it shld also use it in the Bronx where it’s 24 hour time. Nowhere else is this 24 hours but the Bronx. I come out it says the hour time and guess what NO bus and I’m waiting first 10 minutes then another 10 minutes I would still be there I decided to use the bus across then the trains. So where is the bus ???

Best but could be better. Best bus app for NYC I’ve seen but doesn’t say much since the rest are terrible. Seems to have the easiest interface but wish the default was to zoom in closer to my current location. Bus times are mostly but not always accurate. Same with bus stop locations. I use it daily. Great customer service.

Very accurate. Tells me when to leave home, whether to seek alternative transportation. Makes life easier!

Unreliable. Inconsistent and often inaccurate, especially in my almost daily experience in Queens. Times are incorrect and buses frequently “disappear” from the tracker. It will say the next bus is 10 minutes away, then five minutes later it says 30 minutes.

Great app - a must have in NY. If you ride the bus but hate it's unpredictability this is the solution. Tells you the time it will take pretty accurately and everything is displayed on a map that can geo locate you. Only thing I would like to see is an overlay map that shows you the route of a selected bus.

Privacy concern. The developer recently made a change to need “always” enabled in location settings to see bus times, versus just “while using”. Great app, but do not see why that is needed (other than revenue from location data), as the live arrival times worked fine without that earlier.

Why fix something that doesn’t need fixing?. The time switched from countdown time to military time and that’s not helpful at all. Military time for busses to arrive is at the bus stop, bring back real time and location of the busses. Until then, this app is garbage. Will delete it.

Not accurate.. Sometimes this app works but most of y time it’s WAY off. For example, I left my apartment 10 minutes ago when the app said the bus was 8 minutes away. After 10 minutes of waiting the app still says it’s 8 minutes away. This happens every other time I use this app. Buses also disappear from the app. The app will say a bus is five minutes away and a minute later that bus has been removed from the cue and the next one is 10 to 20 minutes away.

Lately it hasn’t been working. When this app works- it’s amazing! A must-have! The bus countdowns are accurate and super helpful for my daily commute. However lately (the last 3ish months), the app hasn’t been work properly. It shows the bus scheduled times - not the countdown of how many minutes away the bus is (real time)- and it’s not accurate. My commute has become a small nightmare just with this minor hiccup on that’ll app. Please fix it!

Not as good as it used to be. Accuracy has gone down. It will say the bus is 7 minutes away and then a minute later say it’s due. Or the bus will disappear from the list entirely.

1. VPN 2. font size 3. widgets. Great app, use it all the time. Three things that could be improved: 1. The app doesn’t load data when a VPN is on. Works after turning off the VPN. Please make the app VPN friendly. 2. iOS 16 has a per-app font size selector, accessible via Control Center -> Text Size -> Bus Checker Only. This app could utilize that feature so users can quickly and easily adjust arrival time font size to their preference - super small for those who want to see more at a glance, super big for those who can’t see smaller text, etc. 3. This app is a perfect candidate for a widget. Users could set their favorite bus stops in the widget (or maybe have one widget for each bus stop) so they’d be able to see the arrival times on each bus stop for let’s say the next 3 buses (to quickly decide if missing the very next bus would be a problem or not). Thanks.

Not Accurate at all. Not accurate at all. If it tells you three mins it’s 11 mins. That’s not even close to correct. I understand that traffic makes it difficult to predict an arrival time but that’s why the app should track EXACTLY where your bus is. I should be able to see in real time what stop that bus is currently at and this app doesn’t provide that information. If it does, it’s not user friendly enough to be obvious. The ONLY reason I use this app is for lack of an alternative.

Directions. Cannot easily see which direction the bus travels. It’s either N or S; E or W — why not make it obvious/easier to select?

Nothing on the Lock Screen. Still can’t see anything on the Lock Screen. And there’s no widget.

Very accurate but... I’ve been using this app for the past 3 years but this recent update where it says the time instead of the mins there is left is confusing please go back to the way it was or give an option to change it!

Usually the closest to target. When waiting for a bus, my estimate (from this app) is nearly always the closest to reality among all those waiting. If there’s a lot of traffic, it can be a bit over optimistic.

The update is awful. I’ve used this for years and it used to be such a good app. It is now terrible after the recent update. It’s difficult to use and filled with annoying ads. If it doesn’t improve very shortly, I’m deleting it.

This app is on point. Never more are the days of running for the bus with only one eyebrow for no reason. Now I know exactly when it’s approaching and how much time I got to put my face on xoxoxo

Bad update.. This used to be my go to app. I loved the real time bus checker. But then the update to remove real time and go to army time in when the bus SHOULD arrive killed this for me. Hopefully there’s another update to fix this.

Right on point. I gave my young adult daughter this app. She is able to leave the house and get to the bus stop and catch her bus right on time, every time. Now she doesn’t have to wait for any length of time standing at the bus stop alone.

This is the “go to” app” for the bus.. It tells you exactly how minutes it takes your bus to arrive at the bus stop. Syncs w/ the Apple Watch which is useful. User friendly.

Amazing app!. This app is perfect! It truly is real time on where the bus is! It's very helpful. I gave it 4 stars only because it's missing 1 thing, it should have some sort of alert for a specific time when the bus arrives at a specific location. If I'm getting ready for work and I want the alert to tell me that the bus will be at my favored spot in "x" minutes (the "x" should be adjustable minutes to give me enough time I need to get to the bus stop.

Awesome app. Use it all the time. Problem with beginning of the bus lines. It says "near" because there is a bus parked nearby but it doesn't take into account of actual schedule. The bus may not even leave until many minutes later. Otherwise, this app is very useful.

Pretty good. Simple and to the point. No much ad interruption.

Fine useful app. Even though there are alternative bus apps, I like this one best and use it all the time. It's generally accurate within a couple of minutes, except in situations where, for instance, two wheelchairs get off and two more get on. The GPS has trouble understanding this, but it's only a machine. I can't imagine traveling around the city without it-simple, graphic, and informative.

Please Remove "Phantom" Buses. Great app, use it every day. Only major problem is the "phantom" buses that NEVER appear no matter how long you wait. Tired of getting hazed by the app telling me a bus is 1 min away and the one that actually comes is the 2nd or 3rd on the list 5-10 min later. Have to pay for SBS in advance so this can get very frustrating if the wait is substantially longer than displayed.

Quality of Life Improvement. I can't believe how much this app has improved my life. Getting around NYC is the worst part of living in the big city, and BusChecker has made it so much easier. Now I can stay home and time my departure perfectly to link up with my bus. And no more waiting at a bus stop wondering "Is my bus even coming?" This app has solved so many of my daily annoyances. Hate it. I can’t make it work

Highly recommended!!!. I am so glad I found this app. The bus schedule is very accurate, and you can save the specific bus stops as favorite so that you don need to search on the map every time. If you go to somewhere you are not familiar with, the map can show the bus stops nearby. Or you can search the bus you need to take and select the direction, it shows all the stops on that route, and you can set the alarm at the stop you want to get off so you won't miss it. Very helpful for bus riders.

Great app and convenient. Great app and very accurate. Love it even more after I found that I can add to the widget in the "Today" pull down. Now l can see all my bus arrival time with a simple down swipe from anywhere. No more needing to unlock, open app, and click bust stops..... Great job.

Highly inaccurate. Gives time of bus arrivals that have nothing to do w reality. Said the bus was 20 minutes away and a bus came in 5 minutes

Fixing something that isn't broke.... When I first downloaded this app, it was a breath of fresh air. All it took was one revamp and chock full of unnecessary features to throw that breath of fresh air became a whiff of putridity. Features that were readily available previously, I now have to dig for. I hardly understand the interface. It's full of features I don't need or use, and it's seems as though it's trying to resemble Google Maps. If Google Maps can do what I needed it to do as far as bus routes go, I WOULD'VE NEVER DOWNLOADED THIS APP IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! The only reason I haven't deleted this app yet is because I'm waiting for the developer/s to get the hint that they need to revert to the original, simplistic interface. This app seems to be the only app I know of, currently, that has the potential to do what I want it to...if only they can get the hint.

Timing of buses are EXACT. My friend introduced me to this app and at first I was a bit hesitant. I doubted that there was an app in existence that would give an accurate arrival time of the bus at specific locations. It saves me time when I'm going out because I know when to leave to get the bus so I won't stand at the stop so long. I HIGHLY recommend this app!!

Absolutely Fantastic!. I've been using this app for about a week now and I'm soooo happy with it! Now I know when I need to hurry to catch a bus and when I can slow down. It's great for trips when you have to change busses and impressively accurate on arrival time. Last week it saved me from standing in the pouring rain for 12 minutes to catch the M20 at a no-shelter bus stop. I just waited till the bus was two minutes away before going out. Brilliant!

Incredibly helpful. I really appreciate this app, especially when I moved to a new area where I have to rely on taking 1-2 buses to get to work every morning. My husband also loves it bc he hates waiting at a bus stop for more than five without knowing if he just missed a bus or it's that the bus is running late. It has the ads that pop up but I don't mind it. I am considering buy the app just to ensure that it gets some financial support and can continue to run without any issues. Thank to the creators of this app. You did an awesome job. 😁👍

Great app with amazing accuracy (life saver!). As other reviewers have said this app has dramatically improved my transit in NYC. It's so user friendly and helps you look at routes and all maps. But by far what makes this deserve 5 stars is that it tracks the location of the bus so that you know when the next one is coming. That is a really big deal. Until MTA decides to post such boards with times at bus stops and subways this app is the way to go.

Inaccurate reporting.. Worst

Bus times. Instead of showing minutes til next bus it now shows scheduled time. Not actual time. Useless. Missed bus this AM thinking new display was when bus would come. Late to school. Thanks for nothing.

I love this app!. It’s accessible

What was I doing with my life before this app. Ok so I've only used it once but it was incredibly helpful and accurate. If I hadn't checked the app I would have missed the bus I needed to catch and would have had to wait 30mins for the next one. It updated when the time changed due to a delay. This is a great app!

Distance. If this app showed the distance in miles of how far the bus is like some other apps, it would be perfect. Sometimes it says the bus is 3 min away, but theres traffic and the bus is a mile away so it takes it 10 min to come. Sometimes it says bus is 5 min away but the bus comes in 2 min because it is really close or there is a fast driver. Overall, if there was a time and distance update, it would be more accurate and helpful.

Very Good - One Flaw. This is a great app, that seems to use the GPS system not the MTA scheduling. In the busy city like New York, where I live, this is a great idea in theory. Where there is, is if Close by to the first AND last stops or need to catch buses at the first stop often. Since passes at the last stop, which is usually adjacent to or across the street from the first stop, your boss could show as "near" for 10 or 20 minutes because the GPS can place the bus accurately right near you, while the driver is usually lingering there for a break at the end of the line. So the closer you are to the first stop waiting for your bus the less accurate this app is. If they can find a way to somehow fine-tune this app to make it a lot more accurate if you are catching buses near the first stop it will be flawless. Because the further you are from the first stop the more accurate the arrival time is. If you are catching buses at least a few stops from the first stop, I can tell you that the accuracy is virtually perfect. Coming home by bus, I am often amazed at how the arrivals are literally down to the minute!

Useful, accurate, recommended. Currently, I cannot even imagine having to deal with bus schedules - this is live, always current and since I started using it - I saved more time per use than with ALL other time saving apps combined. And since time is money... Well , you get the point. I am a huge fan.

Incredibly accurate. I've been using this app daily for over six months now. It's incredibly accurate and I love how easy it is to access your favorites from the Notification Center widget! Can't imagine my day without it. I only wish they optimized the display for the 6+ screen already!

Do you really need my location all the time?. This app works great, I use it almost every day to check on where the B48 is, because that bus is the worst. Thanks to BusChecker I don't have to stand around in the rain for 30 min for a bus that is 15 min late, and I can readjust my commute based on, you know, if it's going to show up. My only qualm with this app is that it constantly uses your location, i.e. uploads a lot of data. It does this even if the app is closed, so I tend to turn my cellular data off for BusChecker when I'm not using it, which is kind of annoying. if there was a $1 (or even $2). version of this app that didn't do this I would buy it in a heartbeat. AFAIK the paid version only gets rid of the ads.

Love the whole idea. Love this app and use it a lot. Suggestions/questions: 1. I live close to the end of a bus line. So a bus will be parked waiting for the run to begin. The app doesn't tell me if the bus is en route yet. It will tell me 5min away but the bus may not be deployed for another 10min. Hard to factor this in I suppose. 2. Does it take into account real time traffic? 3. Would be neat to pull up a specific bus and have a visual that shows it moving towards your stop. So you can see the progress of the bus.

Great app for travel. I've been using this app for the past year and it has been a huge help. I take the bus a lot in NYC and I hated waiting for a bus that never came. Even the time slots on the bus station were wrong. But this app has been a savior. Rather than waiting for a bus that never came I would take an alternate route. While this app isn't 100% accurate, it is 95% accurate. And that's better than waiting forever for a bus that won't come.

Mind Blowing. I love this app. At first I was skeptical about it, because let's face it how often do our apps live to standard? In any case I started to get really excited when the app proved worthy and every time the bus was approaching I'd share with a stranger! I'd say "Hey are you an app user?" And if yes I never fail to tell then how accurate this app is. My commute is easier and so much more organized! Thank you :) !

Generally A Great App. For the most part it is accurate (or very close), since the app can't possibly know if an interaction will get blocked at a green light, someone double parks causing a bottle neck, etc. Generally speaking, if the bus arrives w/in a cpl mins of what the app indicates, I consider that "accurate". My only complaint is that I notice buses sometimes temporarily fall off the list of arrivals when I'm looking at a specific line so I always double & triple check the app.

App doesn’t even work anymore. Crap app. Used to be great but doesn’t work anymore without WiFi. Uninstalling for sure

Excellent and thoughtful app for people who live outside of Mahattan.... I found this app very useful to me when I need to commute to work by taking buses as it gives u the approximate minutes later will the first two buses come... Also I gives me great conveniences where what the bus is at the nearest bus stop... Not to mention that I can download and view the bus maps in 5 boroughs and 1 subway map of the whole city...

Hate it, I love the old version better. Bring back the old app now is too complicated because all the time I'm looking for a bus Places and Route are in list mode and instead of say what the bus said like B14 (via crown high or via spring Greek) now said the last stop name instead, I love the old version it was better please bring it back

Now Useless: Don't Upgrade. I am running the latest iOS, 9.0.2, on an iPhone 6 Plus. I upgraded to the new Bis Checker, and then updated it again a few days later. It's useless now. Do not upgrade. Now, it lists no buses coming for my favorite stops or stops on the map. I deleted it and reinstalled the app. That resulted in error messages in the app that claim there is no internet accessor network. I am on a strong wifi and have cellular service. I turned the phone on and off to see if it might help. It helped motivate me to write this review because the app is totally useless now.

Best bus app. ever!!!!!!!. Thank you so much. This app. is super accurate. I brag about it all the time. I even suggest to people to get it. I plan my bus trips accurately now. When I get ready, I always check when is the next bus coming. I leave home at the right time, than going to a bus stop and not knowing how long I will wait for. Thank you for making our lives easier!!!!!!!

So happy about this app. It has a lot of very cool features. I'm still learning to use them all, but you know how you sometimes say "dang, I wish this app did this ..." When you get a new app? I have said that with this app ... Quickly followed by the phrase: "oh, wait, it DOES do that! Cool" they've anticipated all my type-A wishes. I couldn't be happier. Now if they could just add a button to press to make the traffic go faster on some of the routes ...

The best. I have used this for several months and have found it to be reliable and above all, easy to use. I tried a number of others none of which were as intuitive or practical. It makes so much more sense to default to your current location rather than sending you to a menu of bus routes. Plus, knowing the time till your bus is due makes so much more sense than how far away it is.
