Garbage. This app is terrible. The developers have never listened to reviewers, it’s easy to see that from other reviews, and EVEN WORSE: Old glitches are not resolved, and new ones keep happening. This app is the worst option out there. Choose another one, several apps that I’ve tried in the last few days are better than this one. Update: after Tayasui’s most recent update, the toggle to turn off the “tap to undo/redo” option now does nothing. Specifically, toggling it to OFF does nothing: even in the off position, tap-to-undo is still engaged, and it’s easily the worst feature because it happens when my palm hits the screen. This app is terrible.

I love the app but.... I generally love the app, but I just tried to create a piece of art using the shapes tool...specifically the circles one, and I couldn’t functionally repeat the gestures to move the circle or change its angle. In other words, I might accidentally be able to move it, but couldn’t replicate it enough to create what I wanted to. Instead of actually moving the circle from point a to point b, by using 2 fingers (as the instructions say), it would rather, just shrink down my entire page...I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong, but I worked on it for about a half hour & read all the instructions I could find...app creators, please fix this, or put up some better instructions on how to do this effectively...otherwise, great app!

Better experience on the iPad than MacOS. I LOVE this program! It’s somewhat limited - though that’s part of its zen-like charm. It’s a bit...idiosyncratic, but I can deal with that. Its strengths are it’s amazing watercolors and pen (with splatter) tools. The ruler features are pretty cool tool. Because of my very positive experience using the Pro version of Sketches on the iPad I decided to download the same for my Mac. That has been a disappointment so far. It just doesn’t work nearly as well and some of my favorite features are missing. I hope Tayasui kicks their MacOS version of Sketches up a notch soon!

Simple interface, but major bugs. PROS: More accurate Pen tracking than other apps I've tried Works great with Apple pencil (although only one brush seems to support angle shading) Simple, clean interface doesn't overwhelm you with complexity Fill tool offers nice pattern effects CONS: Large pen icons on side tend to get in the way a lot Long skinny color palette makes poor use of screen real estate Text entry options limited MAJOR BUGS: I was working on a complex drawing so I saved many versions as I went along. Something got messed up and I thought “I sure am glad I saved multiple versions.” But when I looked, I found Sketches had saved the error to my OTHER versions, making my backups useless! Another bug: Using the X-Acto knife tool to rotate a selection sometimes COPIES the image, making a double-image instead, and undo doesn’t fix it! Tayasui really needs to concentrate on bug fixes rather than new features. UPDATE: I just had a glitch that caused a double image on one of my layers, and immediately pressing undo didn’t fix it. This may force me to have to delete the entire layer and re-draw it all over again.

Need better resolution. This is a great app that I’ve used for many personal projects and even school pieces. I’ve done lots of drawings, paintings, and photo retouches. However, along with the retouches comes a drop in resolution. When importing photos in, the app will lower the pixel count to fit its minimum resolution. It’s a little inconvenient whether it’s for retouches or mixed media. So, the only thing I’d really like to see change in is the option to zoom into photos way closer; until I can see the pixels of an HD photo. This would also mean that the app would have to be able to handle more pixels from the high res photos. This is not an app meant for photos but in the case of art, I’d like to be able to better incorporate this feature through mixed media. Otherwise, it’s a great app that I’ve been using for a couple years. If you enjoy drawing or even photo editing, I’d really recommend that you buy this upgrade.

A Great App, Some Size Difficulties. I love this app, and the colors and tools as well. The only problem I have is that there are no thin tools for me to use when I zoom in to add detail. The eraser is too large for erasing tiny things or going into corners, and using white doesn’t go well when I have a background on another layer. Also, some brushes are too broad and not suitable for fine painting, especially the watercolor. However, I have only recently started using the app, so if there are any solutions to these problems that I have not found, please send me a message. Love the app. The options are plentiful, fun, and beautiful with a user-friendly interface. I didn't make use of this app much before a I got the Apple Pencil but now that I have one, sketches is my go to for doodling and writing (I'm not much of an artist but I feel like one using sketches!). I second another reviewers suggestion on implementing a sort of book option. So we have sketch books or notebooks, since I use the app for class notes and journaling. I used to use Noteshelf for my writings but I prefer tayasui sketches for everything now that I have the pencil. With a feature that lets us organize sketches into books, the app would be unstoppable!! I know it's for creating artistic masterpieces, but I just love it so much so I'd really love to use sketches for all- art, notes, writing, and journaling.

Sketches was good! ...two years ago.. I bought the pro version of Sketches about four to five years ago. Sketches was my first digital drawing program other than Apple Notepad. I use it obsessively. So why, then, am I rating it 2 stars? Since I first got Sketches, it has progressively been getting worse and worse. Switching layers takes forever. Random lag. Random deletion of entire pictures. And the worst offender, the incessant crashing. It crashes at startup. It crashes when opening drawings. It crashes when you switch layers. It crashes when you create layers. It crashes when you exacto. Occasionally, it will even crash if you drag the picture too fast! And if you don't save often, these crashes can delete tons of progress! With the newest major update, the cloud save update, Sketches now uploads your drawings to a cloud- which isn't the issue- but in doing so, it deletes the local save of your drawings. Meaning you no longer can access your WIPs until you connect to the internet. Once a prized app for its versatility- whether you're on the bus or in class or laying down, you could always pick up your phone and draw- Sketches has been reduced to a buggy, crashing, inconvenient, and downright awful shadow of its former self that definitely does not deserve to cost money. Buy Procreate instead. I hear it's better.

iPhone canvas sizes. Hi! I wanna start this off by saying I love this app! There is no other one that compares- it’s so simple to use but the art you can make is so beautiful! I tried the other art apps and they all pale in comparison. I just have one request! I do my art an an iPhone and I have all the latest updates, but I don’t have access to customizing the canvas size. If that’s only on the iPad or Mac version, could you consider adding it so I can customise my canvas sizes? If it’s already there, I can’t find it, so some help would be appreciated. Gorgeous app!. This app is well-made, easy to use, and creates gorgeous images. There are numerous options for tools, colors, and layers. Also, the ability to save with a transparent background is extremely helpful. I am a beginning graphic designer and illustrator and this app is perfect for those needs, especially on a budget when a professional drawing pad is not an option! The only thing I would add is a text option. I am currently creating my drawings on the app, opening the drawing in Word, and manually adding text there. Besides that, this is a beautifully made, realistic, intuitive drawing app!

I wish we could post sketches here. Sketches is an amazing tool! There are many different ways to shape your sketch to the way that you want it. Of course, it could use more tools, such as a stamp tool and multiple colors for the gradients, but all in all I’m pretty happy with what I can do. Please update and add more tools (and also higher zoom)!! Also, I’d appreciate it if there were no pop ups asking to download the macOS version or other popups like that. I don’t mind a one-time pop up that shows new features upon update though.

I used to be a big fan. Not too long ago I discovered Tayasui Sketches, downloading it based on an App Store recommendation. Once I learned the interface and became familiar with the tools, I fell quite in love with this app. I even subscribed to the pro version. All was right with the world. Then version 23 was released, with “new features” such as the ability to backup your sketches to iCloud, and now Tayasui Sketches is useless on my 5th gen. iPad. The app won’t let me create and save a new drawing, or create a new folder. It won’t let me de-select the iCloud backup option. It crashes constantly. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, it did nothing. I reached out to Tayasui via twitter, they did nothing (no response after 6 days). Clearly there’s no tech support there. Plus, there’s no mention of any issues on Twitter or their web site. I finally gave up on this app today. I’m posting this review, deleting the app for good, and moving on to the competition: Autodesk Sketchbook, in case you were curious.

Mostly Good, But I Have A Problem With Version 23. I really like the app in general. It’s easy to use and I use it to draw all the time. I have a problem with version 23, though, and I’m writing this in the hopes that it will change or be improved. It’s the way folders are organized. Only being able to organize folders by date modified and creation date makes it much harder to organize things. I’m really hoping that they add in an option to organize drawings however you want. If you’re just using the app for individual drawings, it isn’t a big issue. But it becomes a bigger problem if you want to make and/or organize a comic, drawings for a video, drawings for a story, or anything like that.

Thank you!!. When I first got this app, it made me pay twice because at first I tried getting the update and failed and then just went and got the actual paid app, and then it was pretty good while I used it for the most part. A few glitches here and there, but usually pretty good. After this most recent update, every time I add a layer it just turns completely black, even on old drawings, all but the base and the first layer and just completely black as soon as I add them. It was fine before the update, I hope that'll be fixed in the next one...? Edit:so the next update came out and most(all but one) of my drawings survived! Yay thanks developers!

Latest updates have made tool almost unusable.. I have been using Sketches Pro for a few years, and would didn’t have a single complaint until recently. Since the iCloud update, I have had nothing but trouble. The app crashes constantly. Often, my changes don’t save, and I lose a lot of work 9this happens not only during a crash, but also when I close the app. The undo button frequently stops working. To get any of these items to resolve, I need to uninstall and reinstall the app, and when I do that I lose all my custom color palettes. All of these changes have seriously impacted my productivity, and I’m considering abandoning Sketches and moving to a more reliable tool.

Excellent App!. So far every drawing app I’ve gotten on my phone has been hard to use or just doesn’t have enough tools to make a good drawing, but this app is very easy to draw even considering you have to use your fingers. There are a couple problems I have with this app though- One, there isn’t a tool that’s really small. I value small pens so the lines don’t look fat if I’m making a detailed drawing. Two, the blending tool is too large. Blending is important if you want smooth pictures but since the blender is this app is so large it blends the outline too. And three, sometimes the app will randomly download your pictures to your camera role. This isn’t a very big deal but it’s kind of annoying having to keep deleting pictures. Anyways, I think this app is great and I highly recommend it to anyone who has interest in art.

Why sketches pro is my favorite app!. I’m just gonna start of by saying, this is a great app! There is so many different tools you can use to create digital masterpieces! Sketches has a wide verity of drawing activities you can do and there’s a community where you can post your drawings! Other people can click the like button on your drawings! It’s so nice to get on my iPad and look at the community to see the amazing things other artists draw! Sketches is a great app! And I in courage you to download it! Enjoy!

Don’t think, just draw. I purchased procreate, affinity designer, affinity photo, sketchbook, and tried (but don’t own) many more. This app is my go to when I want to just get my ideas out ASAP. There isn’t a complicated amount of adjustments to make with each tool so you can just get down and dirty and draw. Drawing with an Apple Pencil feels great and is pressure and tilt sensitive. (For example, you can tilt the pencil and it shades instead of being a fine point all the time) Out of the apps that I own/tried, I like the lines from the pencil tool because it looks the best to me. The ONLY thing that I would ask for in this app so far is to add finger gestures to rotate the canvas or something equivalent. I like the speed, ease, and usability in which I can translate from just a thought to something tangible and I feel that the ability to rotate the canvas would definitely help push out ideas in a streamlined manner. A minor thing, yes, but it would definitely help.

Buggy. I have been using sketches for quite some time now. It is a fun drawing app with good tools and interesting activities. Although, there were a few problems that I had. Sometimes the app would randomly crash and I would lose any art that I had made that day. This is very frustrating because I spend a lot of time on drawings on this app, and when this happens all of my hard work is gone. Sketches would be so much better if this issue was fixed. Also, whenever I use the cut/copy tool, the app freezes up and won’t let me switch tools. I don’t know if this has just happened to me or if others have experienced this problem, but it would be helpful if it was fixed. I wouldn’t recommend this app if you lose your patience easily! Finally, I was disappointed when the community was moved to Instagram. It was a way for me to gets inspiration and share my art, but now that it is gone, I don’t see a reason to use this app anymore. Please bring the community back! Thanks for reading, I really hope some of these things are fixed.

Almost Great. This is a program that goes beyond good, but doesn’t make it to great. It has many excellent features, and a few major failures. The ability to blend is critical in drawing or painting. Procreate has a very good blender, but this program falls terribly short with their blending tool. A great feature is the ability of the program to smooth out lines, and being 75 I shake and my lines show it. Once again, the program fails at critical junctures by making the line straight instead of curved. It does this “make it straight “ routine a lot. Most drawing programs recognize an attempt to make a circle and follow through by making a circle, usually by pausing the stylist. No such luck here. Your mark just disappears. One feature I love is the ability to outline an area and have it automatically fill in with lines or other shading. This feature works very well. It would be nice to have a total cross hatch with one fill, but taking two steps isn’t bad. We also have the inability to go to total black and I mean REALLY black. What you actually get is a dark black but not a deep black. Also, there isn’t a blue-black, or purple-black that I can find. The ability to get a good skin tone is lacking. Here is where a pre-set color or two would be nice, perhaps a separate set of pre-set skin tones on a different color menu. AD2

Zoom-in issue. There needs to be a much greater ability to zoom in. I like working on large canvases and at max zoon, every brush still gives a different pixel size and most do not do 1 pixel across and is still too thick in line width. The zoom in controls need to be more advanced and not so basic. We need to be able to see the zoom magnification # and enter it manually aside from just the slider. Another thing is in Adobe illustrator when you do a brush stroke, it automatically helps to refine the stroke. So if i do a curve, it smooths it into a refined curve. Just like how you have the line tool when you hold down on the brush stroke, but you can add it so for example if i were to do many strokes for hair it would make it nice curves in the angle of my choosing and instantly. Please consider implementing this asap as it is a big factor in whether i choose to use your app or not, otherwise I’ll use a different app..

Deleted my art. I love this app! I have been using it for many years. This is why I am so upset over this new update, as my app keeps crashing and I can only get back into it if I shut off my phone every time. I lost two of my art pieces, as when I went back into the app they were just blank and deleted. I put a lot of time and effort into this app, and I do back up my work, however, my most recent work is now gone. I had hoped that deleting and re-downloading the app would work, but, according to other recent reviews, this doesn’t seem like a solution. Please revert the app back to the previous version until bugs are fixed with this current one, I really don’t want to loose anything else. Thank you. Also I think you should add clipping masks. They are useful.

Highly recommend, but having a non technical problem with the update.. I LOVE Sketches and I have made a lot of art with it. I love the simplicity and neatness of this app. It make mediocre artists-like myself-able to use it without feeling intimidated. Unlike Procreate, it is easy to figure out and it will not take long before you get the hang of it. I would recommend this app to anyone-especially the pro version. The additional layers themselves are worth the price. But so are the color dropper, the pick between color options and the new tools. Now for me to complain, briefly: I was in the middle of a drawing when the app crashed-which has been happening VERY regularly-so I decided to update the app. When I returned I found out that my favorite tool had been changed. The pencil tool. (Now called “pastel tool”.) I used to love using it for line art, but now that the new versions of the “pastel tool” have come out, I hate using it. The texture of it is weird, and even through adjustments, I cannot get the texture or size to match up to the one you replaced. I am not able to finish my drawing, and I am so upset. If anyone on the Sketches team could fix this, I would be so great full. Sketches deserves 5 stars, but until this problem has been fixed I will not be able to give it what it deserves.

Please Fix It. I never write updates. However, after the most recent update I felt like this was very necessary. I’ve been using this app for years, it’s been my go-to as an artist and I live for the simplicity of this app. It’s amazing. Because of this, the new update has left me feeling very conflicted. I really hope the developer’s notice the problems that have followed up with this update. For the first time ever this app is actually slow. When I pinch to zoom out of the canvas it sort of glitches and takes way longer than necessary to leave the drawing. And when I come back to it and it auto saves, sometimes the loading page gets stuck and the app basically crashes. And then there goes all my progress. This app used to occasionally auto save upon changing layers a couple of times; now it only auto saves if I pinch out of the image and click back on it, and that’s if I’m lucky enough for the app to not crash/freeze on me again. Also, when I change layers, it now takes a good minute until my pencil can finally erase or draw. These problems are absolutely frustrating, but granted I’ve been using this app for so long I really hope it changes. I’d hate to use a different program.

Favorite drawing app!. My only problem with the app is that it keeps saving screenshots of the "sketches" that I work on. Usually if I have closed the app while a drawing is in use, if I open the app again, the drawing will be screenshot and saved to my camera roll. Also, if I start a new drawing or open a different drawing, it screenshots those too. No matter how many times I open and close the app or any drawing, it will always screenshot them. Even if I start a new drawing, and leave it blank, it will be screenshot. It's not even a high quality image like when you manually save from the folder view, so I don't understand why it keeps doing that. If there's a way to make that stop, someone please teach me how. Because it's really annoying and tedious when I have to go through all those screenshots and pick out the high quality saves and delete the unnecessary screenshots. Developers, please fix this problem if it's not supposed to do that. Overall awesome app with a great selection of tools and really useful on mobile. I much prefer Tayasui to Adobe Draw (which many people use and I don't understand how or why because it's so frustrating to work with on a phone).

Would be 1000% better if there were a way to ask a question.... Current query, seeking answer: is it possible to type or insert text into a SkPro drawing? // I have been researching a number of coloring/drawing/artisrty apps for more than a year, and finally settled on Sketches as the most useful for my purposes. I've "gone pro" in order to drown myself in the learning that is available but I've come up with the stupidest problem. It may be that if I used FaceBook . . . but I don't, so it seems there is no way for me to ask a question -- like the one above which I do hope someone will trouble to enlighten me -- and or tell me what I've been missing in the instructions. . . .

Newby - I like it. I am not an artist but I want to try my hand at drawing. I’ve been playing around with the program to learn the tools. I really like it, it’s fun! I have the Apple Pencil and it is working great. It has taken me a while to figure out what to do to make the stroke get wider when you hold the pencil flatter - turns out that only works with a couple tips on a couple tools, which is ok. It crashed once when I was trying out editing the blended colors, but otherwise has been solid. One thing I don’t like is the large number of spelling, grammatical, and typo errors on the web site, it makes it seem unprofessional.

Fantastic Drawing App! But.... I love Tayasui! It is my favorite app for art and both the Pro version and the original are functional and have very few bugs. However, when it comes to posting my art I have a bit of a problem recently. So, at first posting my art was fine and everything was going smoothly. I could see my art on the “new” page and people were giving it likes. But after a while (and this has happened with the last 3 drawing I’ve made) the art I posted would say someone liked it, usually between one and three likes, but it isn’t on the new page and the like count never went up after the first day. Is this a common glitch? Because I want to keep posting and taking part in art challenges but if nobody can see my art then that won’t be possible. Can I please get some help? Other than that and one other glitch with the posting, this is a must have app for any digital artist and I would recommend it highly! 🙂

Amazing Quality. After using the first sketches, I found it to be a fun doodling app and I decided to keep it. Come to find out this pro version is out with more tools and everything a serious artist needs and I bought it. I am sooooo impressed with the inking ability and the fact it does not make those annoying pixels. I just hate how it keeps taking screenshots and it seems to be a tad bit screwy. Other than that, it’s wonderful to work with and worth the money. They provide so much in this app.

I have tried so many of these apps and this is the best by far.. I started digital art about 4 years ago using Artrage on my ipad and progressed to a highend wacom tablet using corel painter. Lately I began using this app out in the field on an ipad pro with the apple pencil. I have to say that this app is rather comparable to my wacom and I am able to print my paintings on canvas in very large sizes. I am mainly a watercolorist and this app simulates watercolor better than any of the others I have tried and I have tried them all. I have only had it freeze and lose about 3 mins of work once.

Good!. I’ve been using this app for a while now ever since my art skills improved and I wanted something a little more advanced than sketches school. Procreate is great but it’s a bit expensive for artists new to the digital art community. Sketches pro is great, I love posting my latest art and I love browsing and seeing other people’s drawings! There are some freezing at times but otherwise it’s a really great app and I recommend it to any artist out there looking for a good art app!

[update!!] Great thanks!. So much better! Everything is so much smoother, better looking...or maybe it just looks great because I missed this app so much. It is at war with my other apps [which I stopped using :(] B/c it was easier to use and just fun to play with. As one of the creative people here it is just so fun to explore an app like this! It's sooooooo easy! Thank to your team you got this app back on track. Anyone can learn to use it and all the features you fixed make it worthwhile for anyone - amateur or pro. Thanks team!! - Unreliable It freezes when I move the page around. I need to move the page so I can draw on the edges of my sketches. It's unreliable because I gave it many chances but it's still freezing! I can't use it because my sketches are very important to me. Fix it please! Ps - this is not the first time it froze. Reasons: when I move the page around to draw on the edges, when I'm using the tools, or when I turn it on!

Update. I’m changing my review. I have heard about a new update with sketches and instagram. I do not like it. Sketches is consisted with older teens yes. But most of the artists do not have instagram or are not allowed and such. This is an inconvenience. I’m not quite sure I like this update and unfortunately, until it’s fixed (if it’s fixed) I will not have it downloaded. Myself and I’m sure plenty of other people are unhappy with this change. I’m sure there are people who are happier with this change as well. Unfortunately I cannot do anything but state why I will not have this game. This is a great way to lose downloaders. Owning games does take work. If you want a game to be good listen to a majority of the reviewers. I don’t want a lame excuse. Please let me know if you are working to fix this problem.

App crashing & other inefficiencies. First, let me say that I have used and loved this app for years. For me, it is perfect for initial sketches and quick illustrations. The interface is mostly convenient. I have a few suggestions for improvement, the first of which is to just fix the bugs! If my iPad screen locks, or I switch apps for even a second, I keep coming back the the app’s loading screen, where it shows the thumbnails of sketches, and often loses everything I was previously working on. This is honestly frustrating, and my app and iOS are all up to date. Aside from this, I would love the option to view sketches in book format, with the option to swipe to the next/previous pages. Often when I’m sharing sketches, I want to show how my idea progressed, and that feels clumsy each time I need to zoom out and zoom into something else. Lastly, I would love to see more gestures (and better palm rejection! This is the only app that gives me problems!), such as one that could hide and show the interface/tools. I think these could really take the app to the next level, make it more convenient to use, and turn it into a true digital sketchbook (something I’ve been looking for!).

BIG AGGRAVATING PROBLEM.. Okay, so, let me start off by saying that Sketches is the greatest drawing app I’ve found. I absolutely love it! But the reason why I had to give it 4 stars is because seemingly whenever I draw, Sketches lags! Not the entire app, but the drawing tools! I try to draw a perfectly straight line and all of a sudden, either big black circles appear, or the line gets crooked, and heart monitor looking on its own! It’s not too much of a problem for the first five minutes or so, but it’s FRUSTRATING AS HECK after you start getting tired of it. And also, the undo/redo buttons keep absolutely not working 😭The undo button undoes way to much and I lose something I drew! Please fix this, Sketches! I just want to draw! ☹️

DO NOT USE THIS APP!!!. I never write reviews but believe this was very necessary. I have been using Sketches Pro for about 2 years. I liked it because it was simple and for the most part easy to use. There were little things that would come up that were annoying but nothing that big to get upset about until recently. Out of no where the program completely stop working. I cannot undo anything I just drew, it won’t save, it won’t duplicate files; the list goes on. I immediately reached out to their customer service in hopes that it was just me and not the program. I received a very generic, “I’m so sorry you are having difficulties, we will look into it immediately and will be fixing any problems you may be having shortly.” I responded with a request to speak to someone because I had work to finish and a deadline to meet. No response. It has been over a month and they not only not reached out but haven’t fixed ANY of the problems. This program flat out doesn’t work. I have moved on to PROCREATE and it is a much better program all around. My advice, don’t waste your time on Sketches Pro.

Love record feature - please allow to keep tools/UI hidden while recording (and while not)!. First off—this is a fantastic drawing app. The version on my older iPad gives you an option to keep tools hidden even when your stylus is not touching the screen; however, it does not have the screen recording option. The newer version has the screen recording option, but every time you lift the stylus, the tools reappear, ruining your recording! Please mirror the old “hide” functionality—it’ll work perfectly with recording. This is my only complaint; otherwise, great, intuitive drawing app!

5 but.... Gave it five stars because I can’t live without the leaky pain pain PE and PEN… Some tessellating tiling properties would be nice… I can’t find a program with a leaky pen that will let me save it as a tilable rectangle like you do in fabric design....... also I would like a better option on fountain pen size voice recognition and I’m too lazy to erase… Spatter option would be nice… i’ll come back with more suggestions later especially if you give me .01% of the profits ha ha… For some reason one of my favorite painting program is this one: I guess it’s because that fountain pen works pretty good without a stylus; I guess I have yet to find a program that implements pressure sensitivity the way I like.

Keeps getting better. I’ve used this app since it came out in the AppStore and then the devs made a Pro version, not sure why but I’m not complaining. I use Procreate a lot but I enjoy the ease of use with Sketches and the brushes have some really nice effects. Through the various iterations they’ve added layers and canvas sizes and myriad other upgrades. I particularly enjoy the watercolor brushes and the ability to add water to the color to soften and blend. I just spent a couple of hours playing with each and every brush and it’s variations as I haven’t done that for awhile. The new pastel crayon is pretty neat and mimics an actual pastel stick. This is a robust art app but you have to take some time to play with all the brushes and textures, and I like the fact you can modify every color by press and hold the color. The pen tool is one of my favorites, it is akin to an ape tel brush pen with pressure sensitivity. There isn’t another one like it and I use it frequently. I am using this app on a iPhone 13 Pro Max, a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9” and an older iPad Pro 9.7”. No issues at all with bugs or crashing on any of them and I use it fairly often. It’s a terrific all around easy to use app for creative people and I’m so thankful they keep updating it to make it even better. Highly recommend!! 🎨

Last Update Didn’t Help. This last update has been a bit bad for me. Every time I attempt to post onto the Community, it’ll give me a warning concerning the need for specific qualifications in order to post, which I have never had before. It states something similar to, “pieces with imported images or a lot of empty space will not be posted.” I understand the imported image issue, though I cannot understand how much space I need to take-up in order for my work to be qualified to be posted onto the Community. If I somehow can fill up my works enough, however, another pop-up will inform me upon an error that prohibits me from posting, or that I’ve posted this picture already. I can assure you that I’m trying to post new things that I haven’t posted before. I’d very much like for this issue to be dealt with accordingly, though I understand if there are rules and regulations that keep this from ensuing. This, however, is just slightly bothersome, yet not devastatingly fatal. If I can’t post, then I can’t post. I still enjoy the app, and recommend it to all of my artsy friends. Thanks!

Great App...But some bugs to fix.. First off, this is a great app on the iPad to draw or paint on for any artist. However, lately the copy and paste feature, along with the selection knife has been having issues. For one, it now selects in a complete square which it never done before. Also, it no longer copies and pastes anymore. That’s a problem if you’re trying to draw or move certain parts around. Great app to draw on. Just something I have noticed lately and thought I need to bring up.

A few wrinkles to iron out. I’ve been using this app for about 2 years now, and it has been perfect for what I use it for. But, I did find a few glitches here and there. Apart from the fact that it kicks me out of the app every once and a while, the third smudge tool doesn’t seem to work right. When I exit out of a drawing, it flips horizontally when I’m drawing in it vertically. And lastly (while it’s not a huge problem), the folders would become off-center and all over the place. As an aspiring artist, this has been a good app to help me get started. If you could fix these problems, I would really appreciate it.

This App is AMAZING. I love this app. It’s so easy and simple to use whether you’re a 5 year old who likes to doodle or a serious artist who likes to use all the various tools to create masterpieces. Plus, obviously other people seem to love it the same if not more than me. This app is perfect to use especially being stuck at home. When stressed or anxious you can just pull out your device and get to drawing! I just also want to thank those who made this app so easy and simple to use. Pretty cool! Just needs a couple things!. Seems like a great app! I’ve only drawn a few things with it so far. I did notice that I can’t rearrange pages. I LOVE that I can export to PDF but without being able to rearrange the page order I think the feature is a little limited. Being able to duplicate pages from inside each sketch book would be very helpful, too. As it is, I have to export to my photos app and then import back into Sketches. Finally, I noticed that the app remembers the orientation of the iPad when you first drew something on a page. So if you are about to open a page you first drew in portrait but you are holding the iPad in landscape, it will display in portrait—in other words, it will display sideways. Maybe add a setting to allow it to reorient the page so it is always displayed right-side up? Otherwise, I think this app is going to be one I use every day!

Photoshop-ish. I really like this app a lot especially when you can use layers in the pro app. There is a lot of different types of brushes and sizes. It has the ruler for straight or diagonal drawing, water color, and more. The only thing that its missing to me is the the shape section to make a perfect circle or square. I'm not a good drawer but adding this would benefit a lot of people (this shape is already in their other app: memeopad). I'm using the bamboo sketch pen ony iPhone 6 on this app. The pen have a slight delay but the sketch app have different various hand position (right, right hand upward, right hand downward, and vice versa). When using the pen, drawing on the edge of the phone is tricky, you would draw a shape and it would sometime skip toward the edge. Coloring the edge can be challenging unless you zoom in. Overall, my family enjoy this app and this is a good app on the go.

Yes, good. But a bit further than it needed to be.. This is a fantastic drawing app. It has good features, a good aesthetic and the new update brought a pixel brush and a whole bunch of other really good features but it also made a lot of unnecessary changes. For one, it’s a drawing app. It’s supposed to be simple. When doing something creative I don’t want any input except what I’m working with. so a random quote that has nothing to do with the context of an app used for drawing shouldn’t be there. Also the large 2-color screen cover tools are broken. They overwrite the layer and you can’t undo them. This wasn’t in the last update and I’m confused why they would mess up a feature that didn’t need fixing. Another feature that is missing is the normal smear tool. I used it a lot and it’s gone now for some reason. That’s dumb. Other than that I haven’t found too many other problems other than a slight discoloration/loss of quality when copy/pasting or resizing selections but it’s to be expected. I can’t think of any other good features I would want for it other than just more/better brushes or a more advanced selection tool.

There is one SUPER annoying bug 🐜. So when you create a new canvas, the undo button gets covered by the brush options? The only solution is to go back to gallery and then edit again. Sometimes it doesn’t work though. I have to be stuck with zen, the second solution. The one problem with zen is its super complicated to just choose a different brush or color. This bug is SUPER annoying and I kindly want it removed. Thank you for reading this!!

Great for drawing AND image editing. I don’t have an artistic bone in my body. People look like stick figures. Houses look like they’re made from straws. I regularly get put down by little girls for my drawing inability. I do, however, use Photoshop and similar applications for image editing. This program does a very good job of allowing to edit images - so much that my wife gasped at how good this program allowed me to touch up some photographs. If you can draw, this is the program for you. If you need a good image editor, this is the program for you. In short, get this program.

Good but disappointing.. I have thousands of hours of drawing in this app - it used to be easily my favorite app. Yes, not just my favorite drawing app, but my favorite app period. It seems like every update it gets a little worse. An app I used to use for 4 or more hours a day everyday is now an app I use a couple times a week. There are several new features that are not only unnecessary, but glitchy so even if you want to use them they are unreliable. It use to be an incredibly simple and intuitive app, now it’s complex and unwieldy and not good at what it used to be good at without becoming better at other things. I have hundreds of drawings in this app, some of which took 50+ hours to draw and I used to not notice the time I’d just get lost in drawing. I can’t do that anymore. It’s an awkward, confused, app that lost its identity. I hope for improvements, but sadly am now looking for a new drawing app to take its place.

Tap folder to close -temporarily stops working. I am absolutely in love with this app. I have been using it for all of my sketches for school and am currently learning how to use watercolor. The inky problem that I have (that makes it super difficult to use the app) is that when I am done drawing and pinch the canvas to go back to viewing my sketches in the folder, the folder itself disappears on the side of the screen and I can't "tap on folder to close" because the folder isn't visible and/or doesn't exist. I then have to force the app to close to get it back. I would be super happy if this was fixed! Keep up the good work!

Thoughts... This is an amazing app! Although there is problems. I updated the app and found that when I had done that it had something wrong with it. I couldn't create a new layer because when I did and tried to draw the screen would go black, also when I clicked on my other drawings it made every layer that I had drawn on black, which, as you can imagine, it's incredibly irritating. I'm rating it a five though because it's an awesome app and worth what you're offering it for, you just need to make it so when I draw something it won't completely destroy the app and waste my time. First ever (bad) review on iTunes. I appreciate what the devs have tried to do with the app but it doesn’t seem to be all the way there yet. I do understand that people are keen to strip everything back to bare bones in order to have a clean interface but there’s a fine line and this app is borderline unusable due to this “minimal” approach. The app is slow and so layers don’t lock properly then objects or images duplicate themselves, before it all crashes and you lose everything. I have training in illustrator & that literally, with all the tech/intricacies involved, took less time to master. I give up. Shame because I hate adobe as a company and would much prefer to give $ to smaller devs.

Useful, simple. But has an unforgivable bug.. This app is useful, streamlined, and fun to use. I sketch with it a lot. It's simple but has enough tools to create reasonably detailed works. More layers would be appreciated, three is a limited number to play with. But there's a big I've encountered numerous times which is absolutely unforgivable. The app crashes, and the. Is unable to even launch from then onwards. Every time I open the app it immediately crashes without fail. All works are lost and I've had to redownload the app twice now to fix the problem, and I've just encountered the same issue again. Expecting to have to redownload yet again. Im hopeful they will fix this. It's disheartening to see all my hard work go down the drain. Otherwise, App is capable.

Update. I will admit, I prefer the previous app before the update. The community has now disappeared, and you can only access it from Instagram. I happen not to be permitted on Instagram, and now all my friends, socializing and posts are lost. The new artwork process, including easily turn your canvas and the guides system is quite helpful, although I enjoyed the snap when reaching the canvas maximum. It made it easier for me to draw/paint backgrounds or color in. I think, if you were to make the update more useful than just switching my beloved community to Instagram, which I can’t even use, you could at least add more brushes. Since today is the only day I started, I am not certain, but I hope that when you are in the middle of painting, you will not suddenly be kicked out of the app and all your progress for the painting is not lost. I know I should leave the artwork, then return to it to save it would work, but sometimes I am too lost in drawing, and forget. So that would be helpful. Please, I would really appreciate if you could bring the community back into the app. As I said, Instagram is off limits to me, and so are other socializing apps. The community was the only time when I could communicate, other than with my friends at school. I don’t want to use my personal experience to persuade you completely, I just really want to return posting and chatting with my good friends. Please?

Slow and steady. I love this app very much - however it does hang and crash I’m using an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil ~ my previous version of this app didn’t behave this way.

Good but buggy. Sometimes the buttons disappear on the screen/unresponsive, zooming causes the canvas to teleport away (higher resolutions), and adding images don’t work. It’s great for drawing and painting but the ux definitely needs working on

Worth the price but needs a few tweaks..... I don’t have any regrets about purchasing the pro version of Tayasui Sketches but I feel like there’s just a few things that need to be improved upon and/or added.... 1. You cannot zoom in far enough! This is a particularly important point for me because without a stylus it is incredibly hard to do tiny touch ups and add small details without mucking up countless times before hand. If I were able to zoom in a little bit further this would not be a problem. 2. Maybe a few more things in the patterns tool?? For the pro version, there aren’t many shapes to choose from and nor are there many fonts either. This is only a minor problem for me, but the tool just seems a bit empty... 3. The watercolour brush! I’m just confused by the whole drying thing. If i change to a different tool or do anything that causes me to go off the watercolour tool it dries up, which is understandable but I am unsure how to make it all wet again without making the colours go lighter! I have to press the undo button over and over until it returns to the condition it was in before it dried and sometimes it doesn’t even work which is a bit of a pain. I just think it shouldn’t dry up unless you press the little red droplet button. Overall the app is really good and I am very satisfied except for these 3 points. The first point definitely needs to be added in further updates and with the second and third it would also be great to see happen. Keep up the good work!! 🎉🎉 I would totally recommend it to others!! 😅😅

One thing.... Hello I love this app but one thing is that it should zoom until you see only pixels and we can rotate the screen with the zoom. Because I think it's more professional for a professional app.

New Update. I have used Sketches Pro for a number of years and have been very pleased. I have just updated to latest version and unfortunately it has a number of problems… When you open a canvas in rotates 90° making it at right angles to the instructions and no option to work in portrait mode. The new rotate the canvas with two fingers is not a solution as it’s fickle and reverts if you exit. Turning off two and three finger undo and redo in preferences doesn’t seem to work, I have tried rebooting. Colour fill of existing shapes is also fickle and not working always and sometimes leaving a faint line between the original line and the fill. I hope you fill fix these issues and restore the app to its former standard.

Amazing app-- but crashes. I love this app. I've been using it for years and it has been my favourite drawing app on iOS for years. In my opinion one of its best features is its realistic watercolours that blend to make beautiful gradients and effects. Which brings me to my next point. Recently, in the past few months, whenever I try to use wet watercolour the app crashes and doesn't save my progress. It happens when I dry it, when I exit the artwork to work on another, or when it tries to autosave. I don't know what's causing it-- it's the same iPad Air 2 I've always used. I'm hoping this can be fixed, otherwise I might have to find another app for digital watercolour. Besides that, though, I am astounded at the quality of the app. I really like the easy undo and redo gestures. The brushstrokes are all very realistic, save the crayon, which doesn't have a very good texture. I think maybe you should replace it with an oil pastel or soft pastel. It's just a suggestion though. Also, more layers please! Summary: Overall a very realistic, sleek and easy-to-use digital art app. I think the Pro version is worth it. Has a major bug at the moment but it will hopefully be resolved soon. Improvement is possible, as with all apps, but it is very good as it is. Why. This app is brilliant but I feel that the recent update that lets you draw straight line I feel that you should make so arcs, squares and other shapes can be made perfect as well. I also think you should add the personalisation on one of the brushes to all of them. I strongly recommend that you should add a smoothing option and an ombré pallet. Very pleased. Overall, I’m very happy with this app, and regret not buying the pro version sooner. It’s flexible to use, and there is a solid spread of types of brushes (though it would be nice to be able to customise them further) and special effects. The drag function, where you can see the spectrum of colour between two chosen ones, is a favourite feature, and I love the way I can transition without having to deal with hex codes and massive Omni-coloured palettes. The only real issue I have is that it would be nice to make it easier to copy/paste. I’m finding it difficult to get the hang of it.

Bug spotted. Hello, frequent user of the app. About a week ago the area fill tool stopped working, no longer actually fills in the area you draw and spits out a different random shape. I was hoping it was just a bad day but this is constant and extremely off-putting. Could you please patch this?

Almost there. There’s just one more glaring deficiency in this beautifully crafted app: the selection tool. We are given a knife and that is all. The knife allows you to trace a selection with your finger. It offers no precision because you cannot add or subtract from the selection. This makes complex selections impossible. And even if there were tools to allow complex selection, you can’t do anything with your selection. You can clone the selected pixels and that is all. You can’t paint in or even delete the selected pixels because the selection disappears if you tap anywhere. We need: add to selection, subtract from selection. And we need the selection to remain present so you can use it to mask.

Eh.... It's a great app, really! If you're looking for something just to doodle on when you're bored, or if you want to professionalise your art (with a digi-pen of course) then this is a great app for you! The price is a little debatable, and I have stumbled across something annoying. On the iPhone, you can video you drawing, which I've always wanted to do, but I have an iPad mini where it shows no option to video. I'm assuming this is a bug, as in a previous update they announced that you could now video. Can I also suggest letting Sketched+ users have more layers? It gets annoying to run out and have to merge them all the time. If you could listen to this suggestion and bug fix, that'd be awesome! Overall it is a good app and you should totally get it.

Great app!. This app is perfect for an older iPad like mine! One thing I would say is ther should be an eye dropper tool accessible from the colour section. But otherwise great app!

WAS great (Written during march 2019). I absolutely love this app, it has some nice pens but is lacking in some features like fixed opacity. There was a recent update which added new templates, but REMOVED the duplicate and flip features. This is terrible, because they're crucial to drawing especially with the lack of opacity with the paint brush, so I hate this. Fix it by adding the duplicate and flip back.

Same issue...has not been resolved. Jagged lines on every stroke on only one side of iPad screen. This was not fixed In the recent update. This doesn’t seem to happen on any other sketching apps. Please fix, don’t see the point on having paid for this app if it doesn’t really work the way it is supposed to.

Amazing but..... I absolutely love the app and was hooked first time trying it. I just have two problems to say. I have a stylus and when I start a new drawing it bugs out. It doesn’t connect the line I draw. And the next one is screenshots. The app automatically screenshots every time you enter a drawing and it’s really annoying. Please fix that.

Terrible. It charged me twice.. I reset my iPad and then reinstalled Sketches and it charged me again.

Needs batch export to PNG. The weak point of this app is when I have 250 .skt files on my laptop and I want to future proof them as .png files. Right now, I need to export them to png manually by hand, one by one. Open, export, close, repeat. This drives me insane. Please fix this. Other than that it's a nice drawing app, my favorite on the iPad.

Bug. Ever since the update, every time I try editing or finishing up a drawing or sketch it would crash whenever it tries to save- meaning, I lose all the progress I've made which is very frustrating.

Pretty awesome!. Handy app with some honestly nice and fun drawing tools & brushes. It does crash quite a bit though. A select feature would be nice, so you can share/delete multiple drawings at once.

Record feature disappeared. I have loved using Sketches Pro!! I recently discovered that I could record my drawings. I used this feature a few times. Now it’s not there. Anyone know what happened to this feature? Just got a message saying they were aware of the problem and an update will be coming out soon. I’m very pleased with this drawing app. Layers feature is great. And the controls and options for other tools are about right for me. Try this app.

My go-to. I love this app. I very much recommend this one. Generally the updates improve the experience. I miss the layer lock shortcut, and when you’re in the zone the auto save can be a little irritating. Minor issues aside, this is my go-to drawing app.

New update causes app to glitch. I downloaded the new update for tayasui sketches and every time I try to draw or Color, the app would glitch to the Home Screen. I’ve tried resetting my iPad, I’m not going to delete the app because I have some drawings on there in progress. I just wish there’s an update to fix this.

My iPad got hacked because of this App. My iPad got remotely control because of this App. I want to have my money on this App back and I strongly suggest Apple Store to remove this App! I have never ever wanted to use iCloud but this App automatically started iCloud on my iPad and I was almost not able to use Safari surfing, then I checked and found it's this App compromised my iPad.

Transform function is pretty much useless. When you want to transform a layer is makes it solid, so you can’t see how your transforming current layer relative layer below. Also, finger action are often not detected, clumsy or create duplicate images. I regret the two hours I spent trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. It’s just how it is.

What happened???. I used to really like this app. Then recently there was an update or something, because using it has become a pain. The biggest issue is rotating the app from a vertical display to a horizontal. It used to let me rotate the app (so the tool bar would move and I could get a different view of my work) without rotating it. Now it rotates it and really messes me up. I can’t figure out how to change this. It is so annoying. I am about to give up on it forever.

Best sketching app. Very responsive and overall best sketching app because of the two finger undo swipe function. A few quirks with palm recognition however, when I rest my hand on the screen while holding Apple Pencil it tells me I can’t draw with my finger. Also wish it didn’t interrupt my drawing with the auto save notification every time! Overall amazing, but some things to improve upon still.

Pre good. It’s really good but I really miss the option to take a photo from the camera roll and then use the tools to turn it into a drawing. That was fun Unless it’s hidden somewhere

Please change deleting options. I love everything about this app, except for the fact that you have to hold down for a ridiculously long time just to delete a canvas. It makes it hard for me to keep my sketches organized. Perhaps you could make it shorter, but at least make it easier to trash a drawing. Other than this, I love the app and would definitely recommend to any artist wanting to start making digital art

World Class. Easy for beginners to learn yet powerful enough for more demanding use. Love this program. It's now my go-to sketching app. All the other popular ones have been deleted. It's just that good.

Great app, a little buggy. Whenever I pair my stylus, the interface starts glitching out and acting all weird (would not let me go back to the drawing area) Somewhat frustrating, but yea, please fix soon thanks.

Low quality export on iPhone. I just paid for the app and am very disappointed. There’s no way to adjust canvas size. I import a photo, draw on it, and when I export, the photo quality is dramatically reduced and there’s white border because of the inability to choose the workspace size. It might be different on iPad but still, I can’t use this app as is.

Best drawing app for a smartphone. I've been searching for a good art app for so long as I cannot afford any of the other programs... this is not only affordable but offers a wide range of mediums to paint in! I bought a stylus for my iPhone and have been addicted to this app for I think almost two years now- no complaints! Love love love it!!!

Errors upon errors. Every bloody release fixes old errors and introduces new, and more, serious ones. The most recent version, when you dry your pant, a god awful shadow appears behind your work. If Procreate ever improves their watercolor engine, I’m leaving Sketches mighty fast.

Good but could be great. I really like this drawing app it's simple to use and the drawing experience is great, but I think it could really use a selection option. The type where you select a part you want to draw in without affecting the other part of the drawing who aren't select, it could facilitate action like shading and blending. I really think this adding could really improve the drawing experience.

App crashing. It was great for a long time, but now it just crashes every time I try to open it…hopefully there will be a fix soon

I want to draw in Portrait too!. I was snooping around and no matter what, I couldn’t find a way to change the orientation (so that I can have it while my iPad is in landscape) of my entire sketchbook and the pages I add to it, OR EVEN FOR SINGLE PAGES!!!! I love (💜💚💕✨) this app, but I really want their to be a portrait option (while my iPad is in landscape). So much so, that it’s a 3/5 instead of 5/5 😔. I have a stylus, and I want to be able to take notes in presentation mode with out having to flip my iPad to the side. Having the option of fully Portrait sketchbooks and mixed ones is best. I hope Tayasui responds, because I love this app and I don’t want to do note-taking and drawing elsewhere.

Terrific Drawing App. Can’t imagine why anyone would complain about this wonderful and well thought out sketching app, unless they’re trolling. I can’t find anything wrong with it either on my desktop or tablet. I love it. Keep up the good work!

Crap app. NEVER BUY!!!!! Imported an image and app tells me that layer doesn’t exist and now my screen is locked up. I can’t close this screen so no access to a bloody month’s work. No help, no troubleshooting, no faqs.

Keeps deleting my sketchers. It was a really good app, until it started deleting my sketches. I would spend hours drawing and then I could come and ALL of my drawings were gone!! I thought that itI have might have accidentally deleted them, ( but I don’t know how since the folders were still there,) until it HAPPENED AGAIN!! And now I’m very upset since this had happened 3 times. Thankfully I save all my drawings at every stage to my iPad, but still this is very frustrating.

Love this app very much. I use this app a lot and I don't really have any problems with it... but I do have a suggestion when drawing it would be nice to be able to move the tool bar to the other side of the screen (since I'm left handed and find my self accidentally hitting a different brush some times. That's just my opinion. Other than that I love the app, and it is pretty cool stuff in it.

Bring Back Custom Organization — PLEASE. I appreciate the developer’s efforts to improve this unique, beautiful app. However, for me, this latest version (23) is a major step backwards. My use of the app requires the ability to custom arrange and rearrange my sketches in whatever order I deem necessary. Now that the “touch-hold-move” function has been removed, I am in the pits trying to get good value from this app. If this feature cannot be brought back, I will be forced to look for an app that has this very important capability. Please, please bring it back.

amazing app! great, intuitive tools. the latest app update added more ‘ruler’ tools, such as circles, arcs, and splines. I do a lot of conceptual architecture drawings and this sells it. I have the Pencil by 53 and enjoy its variable thickness and eraser. some apps I use are good at precision, some don’t support the stylus, some are too complicated, some are too simple. with the addition of the new ruler toolset, this app is #1 for me. I would only suggest adding variable thickness support for the 53 Pencil. for my needs it isn’t essential, but I find it handy sometimes.

I really wish it worked better. I do love how realistic the pens and brushes are and whenever I open this app I’m impressed. I haven’t used this app for a long time because of how often it stopped working and especially when it deleted artwork I did not choose to delete. I opened it today to use the watercolor brush, again amazed of how great it looks plus new features but unfortunately the app starts to slow down, doesn’t undo a previous stroke... I’m sad to say I ended up frustrated with it and remember why I haven’t used it for such a long time

Extreme Disappointment. After 5 years of using this app all of my drawings have been deleted with no warning and I have no idea why. This app has always given me trouble from the constant bugs and crashing but this was my last straw. For seemingly no reason everything I have drawn over the last 5 years is now just gone. The upload to cloud feature didn’t even work as it requires iCloud which I can’t afford to pay extra for every month. They are probably better drawing apps out there that won’t waste your time like this app has wasted mine.

My most recent review. I’ve using the Sketches Pro now for nearly 5 years. I developed Architectural sketches helping me with creative concepts all these years until this latest program change….your cut and paste became ineffective and pretty much confusing. You recent changes degraded the quality you once achieve. Just like in Art, once you finish a piece, leave it alone….because most of time it gets messed up. One star for this not so Pro.

Great app besides one thing. Ok, so this app is very easy to use and very nice. However, with the newest update, I’d like it if I could lock the screen and not be able to turn it sideways. It’s very sensitive and easy to get confused with what angle you’re drawing at, so it would be nice to have an easily accessible way to lock the screen straight up and down. Otherwise its very easy to be drawing sideways, or get the drawing messed up, especially during line art when making the drawing straight is necessary. Otherwise its a great app, but that one thing is very very annoying.

Spicy. Very spicy drawing app! i use it for everything. but i mainly wrote this review to report a bug— i have been unable to change the picture of my folders. even if i delete the folder and try to change the picture, it still doesn't change. it also doesn't let me change the folder name or the white strip on the folder. i would greatly appreciate if this was fixed.

There is one SUPER annoying bug 🐜. So when you create a new canvas, the undo button gets covered by the brush options? The only solution is to go back to gallery and then edit again. Sometimes it doesn’t work though. I have to be stuck with zen, the second solution. The one problem with zen is its super complicated to just choose a different brush or color. This bug is SUPER annoying and I kindly want it removed. Thank you for reading this!!

Problem with the Pastel Update - Update.... Prior to writing my last review complaining about the new update, I had no idea the tool adjustment menu could be accessed on every other tool by double tapping the different pen options in the bottom left corner. My pen settings are fine now, I apologize for my lapse in judgement. The only thing I wish now is for this to be explained more clearly in the app or FAQ site.

Great app but with some room for improvement. I really like this app and use it very often. I like that it has so many different drawing tools with real looking effects. The apple pencil works very well with this app. A couple of suggestions though: 1. The palm detection sometimes fails and moves the page when I put my hand down to write. I usually don't want to move the page around, so it would be nice if there is an option to pin the page fixed on the screen. 2. I use this app mostly for taking notes. It would be great if the pages can be bound as a single notebook so that I can flip through it instead of having separate pages that you have to inconveniently close the current page in order to open another one. Essentially, it would be great if this app can be improved to be a note taking app also with PDF export, OCR, and other features that many note taking apps support.

Good Drawing app. I love this app. It’s an easy way to draw wherever. If you’re just a beginner start on just sketches school then upgrade to the pro! I love how you can see the community and other peoples art! (It would be cool if you could follow people to see what their up too) There is one single flaw though... YOU CAN ONLY POSTS ONCE A DAY. Some people make a lot of art and love to show it! It would have been nice if you could post more than one thrashing a day.

Still crashes. I would think this is one bug you could fix. I’ve had this app for a long time. I keep hoping you could fix this from crashing. I’m sure the new brushes are great but I haven’t had a chance to use them all because it still crashes! Can't you fix this? It would be a great app if you would.

Okay. I used to love this app before the new updates; unlimited color palettes, you could put multiple photos in, and there are even layers. But after the updates, things got really messy. It won’t save my drawing sometimes, so I spend a long time drawing it and then it doesn’t save! Also, when you tap right it undo’s your step, which is really annoying because my hand is leaning on the right side and it keeps undoing my strokes!

One of the best art apps I've used. Hello, I really love this app and the features are amazing, I don't wanna sound rude but I would like the app to be able to allow me to rotate my drawing when I'm sketching and also allow me to make hallow circles and squares(this feature is used in the app Autodesk sketchbook). If you can plz add this feature into your app, it would make things easier.

The new update has ruined everything. I loved Sketches pro until the “big update” happened and it personally isn’t even that big it’s just a UI change.I use the pixel tool and now that the sizes for the tool aren’t go from size 8 to 16 and now size 7 to 7.6 I can’t finish projects that use size 8 since that’s no longer available and now the main reason I draw here is ruined.

Beautiful Art App (my favorite). This app is by far worth the money and I would recommend to everyone. The app has a lot of cool tools to use and the ruler is very useful (for me at least). The only recommendations I have are minor like adding about three new fonts and allowing a slightly further zoom. Other than that I’d say that this is by far my favorite art app.

It’s Wonderful! Pleasure to Use.. Most art apps on the iPad are either very simple or has a high Iearning curve. This app is packed with just the right about of tools for a wonderful introduction to drawing digitally. I love the tutorials. I’m having fun creating a testing page for each pen and its function. The vibe this app gives off is fun, creative, and happy, so it always puts a smile on my face. The addition of art activities to do was so cute and innovative. I appreciate the thought put into developing this app. : D

Deleted work. My iPad kicks me out of apps so that’s normal the problem is with what happens after. My work gets deleted. I worked on something for an hour maybe two. Then my app kicks me out. I go back in it’s gone. I look in the thing where all the deleted things are not there. So overall the app is great but there’s just that one problem. It doesn’t save well enough maybe all I know is a lot of my hard work was deleted so yeah. Hope it’s just a problem with mine

Used to love it… :(. The last few updates have changed things significantly. For example, when I open a folder now, I see all boxes with a download option. I have to download each one to find my work. This is extremely time consuming because I have a lot of folders to go through. I can no longer just visually see each drawing. I have to download every single one until I find it. Also, the newest UI isn’t very user friendly if you’re dyslexic like I am. It took me a while to learn this app… and I enjoyed it for years. I find it unusable now. I’m going to spend time downloading everything and then removing the app that I paid for, from my device. It’s too complex now, time consuming- and confusing. It used to be my go to app for drawing.

One of my favorite apps. However, I’ve had some issues with it that began a few months ago. The undo function doesn’t work and it no longer saves work to my iPad. I can’t figure out what the problem is and how to correct it. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It’s alright but still so many bugs. Sometimes gestures would shut off, sometimes it won’t let you change your tool. Just little things that keep me from drawing in it for a long time. For example the ink brush. You can change the tail of the stroke. Except when you try to attempt this it might not always work and the app will just crash. It’s sad really because I see them updating but nothing ever changes.

I think I found a bug? Help please!!!. December 22nd 2020. So I love sketches. I’ve been using it for years. But just now before writing this review I dealt with something I’ve never seen before in the app. Whenever I would draw a line , it would shift down (I was using the pen tool) And everything around it would shift down. And it only got worse if you were zoomed in, used a small size or kept drawling around it. Please help! It’s ruining my drawings and drawing experience!!!

Amazing editing app for photos, worth every penny. I like to edit photos for publishing. This app may be labeled for sketching, but it is like a mobile version of photoshop. I recommend combining an AI object erasing app, such as EraseMe, with the layering, blending and cutting tools of this app and the exposure/brightness/color filter/tint/sharpness/etc. tools built into Apple’s photos app. I forget how much I spent on this app; whatever it was, it was very worth it.

Amazing Quality. After using the first sketches, I found it to be a fun doodling app and I decided to keep it. Come to find out this pro version is out with more tools and everything a serious artist needs and I bought it. I am sooooo impressed with the inking ability and the fact it does not make those annoying pixels. I just hate how it keeps taking screenshots and it seems to be a tad bit screwy. Other than that, it’s wonderful to work with and worth the money. They provide so much in this app.

My lines keep shifting upward.... The app used to work fine (albeit the occasional crash here and there), but it’s been very frustrating to draw on it recently due to the fact that the lines I draw keep shifting upwards on their own. I’ll be drawing and a whole chunk of the work increasingly moves upward while becoming more-and-more pixelated. There is also a white and/or black strip across the bottom of my paper every time I start a new piece and I can’t get rid of it. I recently got the newest iPhone 12, so I don’t know if it’s because of my phone or it’s the app itself...Also, I’ve already tried deleting and re-downloading the app—doesn’t fix the problem.

5* Great easy drawing app with lots of features. This app deserves real 5. I have tried several best drawing/sketching apps and for need of everyday or ocational sketches for engineer who likes drawing, this is the most convenient and easy to use app with a lots of features. I use it on iPad pro with pencil for several years and extended for Pro version very soon. Even on iPhone is convenient to sketch something fast and add creative sketch to conversation. For 5+ Stars I would appreciate endless canvas so drawings can be extended in any direction and also rotating to make it more easier to draw. Everything else is just right! Now as my 12 years daughter installed it as well, I really need to leave this long outstanding review. Continue your great work folks!

Great, but I can't get to preferences. I love this app, I use it so often especially when I'm bored or restless. I use it on iPhone, but when I try to go to my preferences to change it to not save every picture and not do the undo/redo shortcut, I can't get to it. The preferences is in the same place as the back button, so if I try pressing preferences it goes back. Very annoying and I would like this to get fixed so I don't constantly have to delete the drawings from my photos every time I get out of the app.

Best drawing app one suggestion. This is absolutely my favorite drawing app, it’s got the best stabilizer I’ve ever worked with, feels really nice to use and I’ve never found better brushes either. Really wish you would consider adding an animation feature though, such as procreate has! Would be amazing since other drawing programs that allow animating aren’t as nice to use…but either way this is a wonderful program :)

Your app is stellar. I had tried procreate but it is a broken app that causes much frustration. I have returned to the grace of sketches pro. Your app is intuitive and is rock solid with ‘being there’ real time with workflow. I appreciate that when working with your app that my ipad doesnt start to overheat as if it had turned into a real hot microphone for whatever forces wishing to tune in. Am looking forward to experimenting with your zen brush. Thanks again!

Needs another update. I've been using this app for months now. I love it. It's the best app out there for the Apple Pencil. But it has recently been updated and this didn't go as planned. After the update, things don't always work, for example: sometimes finger gestures don't work, the stylus size isn't doesn't stay what it's set at, the app won't let me undo mistakes, and the pen menu doesn't stay open. Please fix these problems.

Keeps crashing after latest update. I use this app a ton, probably for 3 or more years. I’ve experienced no problems whatsoever, and it’s an easy yet really great program to use. It’s my favorite and the only art app I use on the AppStore. However, after the most recent update, the app crashes upon being opened. I created a new drawing and then the app kicked me out, and now I can’t re-enter at all. I don’t want to delete the app and lose all of my progress, so I hope a fix comes soon... it’s my favorite app, and I cannot bear to try and use another one.

Great app!. I am really enjoying this app and have used it for a while. Just noticed the guides feature - not sure when it was added but a very nice addition. My only comment for now is to be able to adjust the color of the guides somehow so it appears in different color backgrounds? Thanks!

No UN-DO after Too many drawings?. After you accumulate too many drawings, the app loses the ability to undo, and you can’t use it any more. Here is the fix to recover and NOT LOSE THE FILES: 1. Go to your computer, and save all the drawings that are stored in iCloud in a different folder. Trash that folder. 2. Reinstall the app in the iPad and it works again. The old drawings can be opened with the computer app, and also photoshop. You can also move the old drawings back into the iCloud sync folder and they will automatically migrate back into the iPad again (I did that, it worked for a while and now I have too many drawings again and I lost UN-DO. Other than that major glitch...I love this app, it has revolutionized the way I work! PLEASE FIX THIS YOU GUYS!

Loved this app, but…. I have loved this app for a while now, and have recommended it to many friends. But this last update seems to have broken the Export function. My last drawing, it just wouldn’t acknowledge the attempt at export beyond a brief pause when I touched the menu item. It’s also started behaving oddly around my zooming and moving the canvas, such that I have to exit and re-enter the app. I know any given update will have bugs that need fixing. I hope this one will be fixed quickly!

Unusable.. I used to love this app. It was great and easy to use. However, lately I can't use it at all. I'll be able to do a few things then it will just crash. It won't even save my progress. In fact, the majority of the time, when it trying to save it is what makes it crash. It's completely unusable. I've tried force quitting the app and even restarting my device but no. It's a shame. I use to use this app on a daily basis. Now it's just a useless app taking up space on my device.

Lagging problem. I’ve been using this app for years and has never failed me, but whenever I try to delete a drawing or move it to another folder it freezes and lags out! I have to unhold the drawing and wait until it flashes the trash can and other icons. I’ve updated to the latest version and can’t find a solution. Other than this problem- I definitely recommend!

Super Awesome But Small Glitch. Tips are super helpful and backup saving is nice. Great for when you don't have a sketchbook lying around or want to send a quick drawing to friends! I love love love this app! The only small hiccup I have is that when you switch between the pen and eraser then back to the pen, the pen size locks with the smallest setting at '2.6' when you can actually make it smaller. Only way to fix is to restart. :/

Love the app, one problem. I love your app and find it far more intuitive than Procreate. I am even getting my mom into using it. I am having a problem recently though, when I do a drawing the size of the stored data expands enormously. For example I did a drawing today and the stored data expanded to 7 gigs. Is it recording every stroke as a movie, and if so is there a way to turn that off? Thanks again for your great app.

Devs are super responsive to bug reports! Fixing the dev tool that has recently been messed up. The devs are super responsive and great! I groused about the the fill tool now excessively smoothing out the ends, and they replied that it’s actually being fixed! Awesome. This is an awesome program that can easily let you export PDFs of your artwork as entire notebooks to yourself. I’ve never seen any other program be so convenient, and I was a huge fan of other earlier iOS drawing apps.

My Favorite App. Update: I am now using a iPad Pro 10.5. Since my original r review, there have been so many improvements. The app is smooth to color, the ruler tools have been expanded and are so useful. The unlimited layers and being able to stop and start coloring without any difference showing, are wonderful improvements. Coloring has become my new hobby. I love coloring with my Apple Pencil and I love using this app. The app does not freeze or crash. I am using an IPad Pro 9.7. The unlimited layers, which has recently been added, make it so much easier to do detailed coloring. The app allows me to download coloring book pages and then color them using the various tools and all the colors I can create.

Excellent…but. Hi, when will the lasso work for gradients? It works for fill and textures but not gradients. As stated this actually could be the best drawing app out there, if only the lasso gradient would work. In the past I could get a gradient in a defined area to work but you’ve eliminated the transparency and lock method. Any news on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Great app severely hindered by some updates. A while back I bought the pencil 52 solely to use it with this app and the developers removed its compatibility with the app suddenly. Recently options for layers were removed for some reason which is very upsetting. Also, sometimes for no reason the app’s undo button doesn’t work. Other than that has great tools and works well with the Apple Pencil and is very easy to pickup on and use with good user interface.

Bring back the Pressure Sensitivity on the Brush Pen. This is my favorite drawing app. I like some of the features in this update, especially the ruler. But I am very frustrated with how the brush pen is now working. The pressure sensitivity on the first 2 options no longer is working the way it used to. I use this tool constantly and it makes lettering so easy. Can you fix or return the former settings? I know you guys are responsive to feedback - thanks!

The updates keep getting worse.. I’ve been using this app for three years now, and lately the updates had been getting unnecessary. When are we going to get a transparent background option? Custom brushes?? Recently my selected tools have been changing colors to black without my selecting that color, and it’s frustrating whenever I’m coloring. Zen mode is also frustrating because whenever I just swipe the side menu for more space, “Zen mode” pops up on my screen while I’m in the middle of drawing over and over.

LATEST UPDATE HAS SOME PROBLEMS! Am not happy. Tayasui!! The first stroke blender is NOT WORKING in your latest update...I rely on it a lot so Please fix it soon! I'm also not too happy with the new marker brushes..not a fan of the second one which is a bit sandy/grainy. Lastly but not least, I noticed that we can adjust opacity and size just by tapping the adjusting line thing...not a good feature!! When I draw and move across the adjustor line thing my opacity keeps moving!! Scrolling to adjust was already perfect! Sketches Pro is my Favorite drawing app so I hope a update with fixes comes soon...

The smudge tho. Everything is almost on par with FireAlpaca and other free softwares except the smudge tool, they could use some work. Like the watercolor they don't feel natural. They're great at vibrant colors but I don't use bright palettes that often. It ends up looking very muddy. (very true with the rough shader) I have a hard time getting the shading for shadows done as well as blush so I've resorted to using gradient tools and making it as opaque as possible to make it look natural.

A tool I want you to add. It gets kind of tiring to color a line art with a layer under it by hand, or by using the pen and not being able to stay in the lines. If you could add a magic wand, maybe you could make coloring for me or certain people easier because the magic wand lets you select a certain area and then you can draw or color inside it without leaving the lines.

Version 25 is broken.... It used to be a very great app for drawing, until I updated it. So now if I wanted to use anything such as the spline feature, it crashes. And eventually if you try to use the ruler tool too many times it might just turn the work into a completely empty canvas with no way of recovering the work after it crashes. Luckily for me I still have photos of my original drawing before it got completely lost from the crash since the app tends to save photos into my photo albums so it isn’t a complete loss. But regardless I’d say hold off on updating the app for now until the bugs are fixed.

Kawaii Girl. The app is good for drawing and all but it keeps crashing. When I go to the community sometimes I doesn’t even load! On artist post it now says ...Posts and ...like. The artists on the platform are calling it the glitch. In future updates I would suggest a search button. The tools are becoming laggy. The color dropper is not working. I suggest Procreate. That’s what I was using before. Really it’s like going from a Mercedes to a Corolla. I hope to see changes in the future. Edit: I can’t even update the app . The color dropper doesn’t work( by that I mean when I select something it doesn’t take the color of that thing. I don’t know if there is another way for me to use it.) please help
