Best Hue App (I've tried them all). The only Hue app on my home screen. Great candle effect & customization abilities. The only Hue app that effectively stays active in the background for multitasking (including the Philips app). BTW I've purchased just about every Hue app for iOS ...

Total control finally!!. Beautiful, easy to manage Hue light controller. A million choices made easy! I bought this hoping for a nice flickering candle effect. Knocked my socks off! Total control over my bulbs!

Don't!!!. I bought this app because one of the screen caps showed a CIE diagram with the hue gamut. I've been looking for an app that will let me accurately produce CIE specified colors. This is NOT it. Waste of money. This app lets you drag the pointer all the way to the spectrum locus in the green, well outside of the gamut triangle, and the Hue is not capable of making those colors. Whatever else it does to make your lights flash, the technical side of this is inaccurate.

The most versatile animated Hue control app!. I have been using Scintillator for over a year now and I love all the different animation modes, I especially love being able to create different bulb sets as not all of my hue bulbs reach the same brightness or produce the same ranges of color. Scintillator allows me to have 3 sound reactive presets running simultaneously for the different types of bulbs I have in my hue setup. Running 3 presets allows me to create a evenly lit, sound reactive, color changing environment timed to whatever I'm listening to, with different color sets tuned to the differences between friends of hue products and the hue led bulbs. If you want or need granular control of different types of hue products this may be the best solution for complicated hue installations.

Creative use of Hue. Probably the best app use of hue yet next to hue disco. Had to manually add my ip to connect, but it connected once I did. Great level of customization and I look forward to new updates. Works on ipad but an ipad specific version would be nice. Number one update needed is for the app to run in the background. Worth a few bucks for sure!

The best, works like an app for the lights should. I bought 5 apps, hated them all. I almost didn't buy this one but I'm glad I did. Very user friendly and the app DOES NOT have to be in the foreground to keep the light cycles running like all the other apps. It's awesome, buy it, don't waste your time, money and patience trying others.

Almost Perfect. The _only_ issue I have is listening to video over BT in my phone with the app actively changing the colors in the background. The (always-on) listen feature deactivates my BT connection. Otherwise this is the best animated Hue scene app out there. It's really amazing to watch something with the scene changing colors in the room... it blows me away!

Pure garbage.. If you want seamless animations using a large selection of presets or create one of your own, this is your app. Simple,elegant. Gorgeous color variations to just zone out or set to your favorite party mix. Animations run after your phone has gone to sleep.

Great job. I'm using this in my living room. The really subtle color shifts make it great for relaxing without making it look like a nightclub. Really well-designed UI as well. Keep up the great work!

Works great. No bridge connection issues at all, connected instantly and stays connected. Love that it now stays on in the background, even after phone locks. So many options to fine tune, effects can be subtle or not. Great app, more options than main hue app.

Apple Music doesn’t work, finds 9 lights but only controls 3. I’m pretty sure the two reviews here are fake, first off it says it found nine hue lights however there’s absolutely no way to configure any of these lights and for whatever reason it only controls two of the lights and my light strips, the rest don’t seem to do anything through this app. Secondly it didn’t automatically find my bridge or a friend of mine’s bridge; I figured my Internet connection might be a little weird due to our network set up so I tried his which has his hub plugged directly into the router. Unfortunately the only way to set it up was to manually enter my bridge IP address. Apple Music integration finds all of my music but it’s all grey’ed out, doesn’t work. Unfortunately because they didn’t add a microphone option you can’t even use the music visualization feature. How terrible can you be where you force people to use one music option (Apple Music) which is integrated directly into your app (and broken) instead of having something like a mic option to listen to music in the room instead. There’s absolutely no way to configure which lights that this app uses that I found, the interface is terribly stupid and simple, all together it seems like a half-baked app that still in beta testing and never gets updated.

Worthless. This used to be an amazing app but no longer will it connect to the Hue Bridge.

Best Hue conroller I've found yet. I've dabbled in about a dozen Hue apps, looking for that perfect one that allows me to do ANIMATED light scenes, runs in the background, has good UI with minimal learning curve. After Goldee died and trying a dozen others I stumbled on the jackpot. This app is everything I wanted and more.

Shuts off Airplay. Why does this app shut off my air tunes? I was about to start getting into it but it doesn't seem there is a way to disable this. Also, does the app have to use the mic? Why is listening more desirable than just choosing the animation speed, as other apps do? These two issues need to be addressed.

Yes, this one!!. New user. I've tried 1/2 dozen apps, none GREAT till this one. I won't even open the other now, especially not the Phillips Hue app which is essentially useless. I absolutely love the total RICHNESS of this app. Wish I'd not purchased the others and this one is the most affordable too. Go figure.

Could be 5 stars. This is one of the best hue apps I've tried. I love that I can create my own scenes. My only critique is that whenever I'm using the app and it's running in the background the notification bar stays red and I don't think that's necessary, it's kind of annoying actually. Also support for spotify/soundcloud would seal the deal for me. I would love to have it go along with my music but I don't use the stock music app.

2.99 for a worthless icon on my home screen. Bought the app for my 4 lifx color 1000 br30 bulbs, open the app in excitement to go the the connections page and get it up and running, and all I get is a big fat red X. It won't connect to my bulbs that I was so readily excited to play with. If you have lifx, do not waste your money. I will update this review "if" they get it updated and working. Until then, trust me, it's not working with lifx

Just ok. Revised: It now works in the background which is great, I will add another star. Just can't understand why I need another app to turn off my lights, the off button in the app just halts the animation, how about a button to halt the animation and turn the lights off! Orig. review: This could be a great app with updates! It doesn't run in the background so you need the app running on your phone with the screen on to make the scene animation run. If you added the feature to run in the background, added an alarm so I can wake up to the flashing red lights or fall asleep to the flickering lights, and made it start on the last scene when opening the app so you can turn on the lights with one button press or a Siri command I would give it 5 stars, until then it is overpriced and 2 stars.

Best app for hue. I have to agree with many of the other reviewers. Many of the light control apps on the store make big promises about their features and capabilities but they fail to live up to their claims. Scintillator is by far the best and most useful of the apps I have bought for my hue lights. (It is the fifth one i tried) definitely go with this one.

Great Potential, keep Working!... 3 stars for the effort and ambition that went into creating this app. I have yet to see an app that can successfully drive the lights with my music, and this app was no different. That is one thing we all really want to work well, with sensitivity controls, the works. So I support your efforts and encourage you to keep working on this app! Great App. THE best of all Hue-controlling apps. I love this app. It's so close to being perfect...the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is that I wish the effects could go a little faster. I use it with music frequently, so I'd like a few of the effects to go faster. Otherwise, it's the best of all of the probably 20 Hue apps I've tried! You have to try this app! PS- Don't be discouraged by its complexity, it's really awesome once you get it all figured out!

Good Vibes. Definitely the best, most versatile app for color cycling. Allows full customization on colors, brightness, speed, and bulbs. The only downfall is that it doesn't run as a background process. Hopefully in the future.

More Customizable Please. After testing multiple apps to use on my LIFX bulbs, this is the one I’ve settled on as coming closest to my needs. Would have been 5 stars if there were more options to lock all bulbs to the same color. I’m trying to animate a setting where all bulbs pulsate the same color with random brightness and then all slowly shift to a new color after a few minutes. Whirlwind is the closest preset I could find but all bulbs are different colors with no option to link them.

Doesn’t work with LIFX. No way to add LIFX bulbs. Waste of money :(

Best Hue app. This is the best app for making light animations and easily having the colors change based on many different settings.

Absolutely the best Hua App.. I have 8 hue lamps in my living room with paper shades that really show off the gorgeous colors. Two of my floor lights have 3 bulbs each, the way this app animates the lamps in a constantly changeling light show is just mesmerizing. This is exactly what I hoped I could achieve with hue. This is by far the best hue app I have seen and I have tried many.

Amazing!. This is the animated Hue app I have been looking for. Create custom palettes, choose the lights you want, customize an animation. It just works. Developers are very responsive. Very good app. I'm very happy.

Revised review. This was a 5 star app at one point. I got it because it worked with Hue and Lightify flawlessly. I continued to expanded my setup extensively using hue and Lightify, then one day Lightify would not work with it at all. No response from developer and then all of a sudden they completely removed Lightify support. It does however control my Avea Bluetooth bulb, I wonder how long it will be before they remove the support for that. Update: now it will no longer control the lifx bulbs, no way to add them either.

Not exactly scintillating. The overall idea of this app is wonderful. The execution of it, leaves a significant amount to be desired. The special-effects stop the moment you switch to a different the phone goes into lock mode. Obviously, that is not the desired outcome. This app should also be re-engineered to work with “hey Siri”

Lacks 'Friends of Hue' support.. I was quite disappointed to discover that this app does not yet support the 'Friends of Hue' light strips or bloom lamps. The app is perfect in all other dimensions, but the lack of support for these components of the lighting system is a major deal breaker for those of us who want to do the whole setup. I imagine the developer is working on adding it but I can't have it soon enough. Everything else about the app is excellent - just let me control the other components of my Hue system.

Best Hue App. I’ve been using this app for years, and still no other app has come close to the functionality this one provides. It’s by far the most featured app for having lights display multiple colors in varying methods. It’s a must for party background lighting

Just about perfect. I use this app in addition to my other hue apps. Love the ease with which I can create recipes. Keep it running in the background most of the time for my blooms and light strips. (And my bathroom lights - have them on a fast loop of two identical colors so whenever I flip in the bathroom switch they take about a second to turn into the "right" color.) Only downside for me for the way I'm using them is there is no way to override the loops without going back into the scintillator app - so pressing "all off" in Hue turns everything off....... And then the recipe kicks in and turns the ones in the recipe back on. (Not a bad thing really. Nice feature. My bathroom light trick wouldn't work without this...) Love this app. Couldn't imagine my hue lights without it.

My favorite so far. I've used most of the hue apps. I use the hues in my house but also do weekend custom installs for events. This app allows the most interesting lighting scenes, from intense to subtle. It's not yet as smooth and slow as goldee, but I'm sure similar animations could be written. And it blows away goldee and other apps in the realm of versatility. One feature I would love to see: the ability to sequence a few animations so flow from one to another could be more automatic.

Totally worth it!. It's simply the best Hue app! It never gets old coming up with new settings to cycle through all the lights... It really seems like A lot of thought and work went into planning this app

Superb-Can Animate the Lights. A great selection of presets make this app easy to use. I love the animated flickering candle potion. These color blends are professional and animated. A simple setting allowed me to designate any combination of lights. I only had to set up the combinations once and they became just a click to choose. After using the presets, I started making my own custom combinations. Its my favorite HUE spp.

Music library shows songs but won’t play any. I just purchased the app and I’m trying to use the visualizer and I can see my music library but I’m unable to play any of the songs. The apps ui is clean and straight forward and very easy to use and setup. Except being unable to get my music library to work pretty great first impression.

Amazing Ambiance Creator. i have had the hue since it was released in dec. 2012, ive upgraded to seven bulbs... and likewise ive purchased almost every app  released for the Hue, including Disco, Golden Hue Remote... etc.. also i dont waste my time writing many reviews- THIS IS A SPECIALCIRCUMSTANCE ! because this app is light years ahead of all its competition... if you enjoy, desire, or need the perfect living ambiance to mirror your mood... or to change it- this app is it. Period. after using it, ive deleted all the other nonsense ive accumulated cluttering my iPhone. THIS IS THE ONLY HUE APP YOU NEED, and just like the clever physics reference or property adopted as the moniker of this beautiful app... the most clever thing you can do is buy this.... seriously... and you know what else,,,? you dont even have to press the dam button on your hue to get this up and running! haha. all jokes aside, ice only taken the time to write this lengthy soliloquy of praise because i was that impressed. !

Best Hue App. I downloaded over a half dozen apps to control my Hue lights and this is the only app I use. I am in full control of all lights, strips & blooms. You can customize so much to make it a better experience as well. I would recommend this app to any Hue bulb user. 5 star app.

Fun addition for my Hue System. This is the best app I have found for having fun with my Hue lights. It is highly customizable is easy to use and links easily. I am using an iphone 5. It can be programmed to cycle colors and also can respond to music input to set a cool party mode. I'm glad I found this app. I use it more than any other for controlling my lights in a dynamic mode. For pure static colors I still use the Hue app with its scene settings.

Love It!!. My go to hue app when I have people over. Is fully customizable and has a very nice interface. I also love the music option where the colors go with the music in my library!

Total control of my lights...without IAP's!. Like other reviewers, I've tried pretty much every hue related app out there, and this one is by far the best app for creating and editing your own color themes. From the variety of looping effects to the way you can create your own color palettes and sync them to your own music is fantastic. Best of all, no in app purchases! The developer isn't greedy....Buy it once and you can create any variety of looping colors that you want. I love that I can assign a group of bulbs together and have them all synced to the same colors. It's the only app you really need!

Probably the best Hue app on the Market, but.... This is a very nice app. The animations are awesome as well as the effects. The only caveat is if you have iOS devices that access multiple bridges, the app seems to get confused. Lets say you have an animation that uses a particular set of Hue lights(Each one uniquely named). If I go to another location that has a bridge I control with another device, the app will take control of random lights within a given animation that is running. This app would get 5 stars if it could distinguish between different bridges and their respective bulbs, keeping them separate. Almost there, but still the best out there.

Great for dynamic lighting. Powerful, complicated, and also pretty fun. The minecraft setting is my favorite, although I'm not quite sure what it is. It changes the tone/brightness seemingly randomly over time, which is fun.

Great for holiday displays!. I like to change my lights almost daily to coincide with holidays (think Empire State) this app lets me do that easily and with great animations. I run it on a dedicated iPhone and even if the lights are turned of from a timer, they pick right back up with the current theme of the app is still running. [EDIT: IT APPEARS IS IF THE APP LOSES COMMUNICATION WITH BULBS THAT ARE TURNED OFF FOR A ERIOD OF TIME. WHEN THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON YOU NEED TO REOPEN THE APP TO CONTINUE RUNNING A SCENE. NOT SURE IF THIS IS A LIMITATION OF THE APP, OR HUE LIGHTS, BUT IT WOULD BE NICE IF THE SCENE RAN AUTOMATICALLY. I’LL HAVE TO TEST IF I LEAVE THE BULBS ON IF THEY WILL RUN THE SCENE FOR MORE THAN 24HOURS.] Minor things I'd like to see added by the developer. A visualizer that can be exported from the app to display a design on a website or social media. A collection/DB where users can share designs besides email. (This would work best with the visualizer feature)

Was 5 Stars Until LIFX Firmware Update. I can barely give this two stars right now since it doesn't even work with any of my 3rd Gen and LIFX+ Infrared bulbs now. It used to just work which is what I like about the app. Not sure where you guys went wrong with LIFX. Time to push an update to fix this mess. I think I had to pay for this stupid app too. Unsatisfied customer.

Working again for Lifx. Update: The app is once again working for Lifx. I still have to spend some time with the app to truly get to know it but I'm updating my review to reflect that it is working. I'm only giving 3 stars so far due to it not having a notification widget and an on/off toggle, it has an off at the top of the app but no on making you scroll to bottom of the page if the desired effect you last turned off is located there. Interface is simple and aesthetically pleasing, and the app is a solid 4-4.5 with above additions.

Great App!. I don’t typically write reviews and certainly not for a pay up but Hue Scintillator is a great hue app, considering I’ve bought about 6 of them. What makes my Hue Scintillator my first choice app is its very simple and pleasing interface and pre-mixed options make choosing quick themes a snap. I wish there were an ability to search for other user created mixes. It seems there is a great way to share mixes among friends but the hue system is not all that widespread so most of my friends would not be able to create these.

Great. great app with amazing functionality unparalleled compared to any other app. I would love a more sleek less cartoony interface though but it's just a minor quip.

Great App - Add Siri Shortcuts. I love, love, love this app. It’s great for doing lighting effects like those in sports stadiums and makes it feel like you’re at the game. Extremely well designed app. This app has been thoughtfully designed and written. It works flawlessly and only takes a few minutes to learn, but gives unlimited possibilities.

Brilliant. Since the demise of Goldee, I have been waiting for an app that is of similar ability. I was hesitant about paying to try this app out, but I don't regret it at all. This app basically has everything you could want, plus more. The hue app is probably still good for setting alarm clocks, and geofencing, but Scintillator can create mesmerising changing light scenes that you can even edit. This is now my favourite app for Hue :)

The only hue app u need. It’s absolutely awesome this app. You can create limitless combinations of light. All the other apps I tested asked for ongoing subscription and were quite limited. This app is a thousand times better than anything else I tried.

Great but. I LOVE THIS APP; however, it recently stopped running unless my phone is unlocked and open to the app itself. It used to run with a bar on top of the screen (like navigation). Without that feature, this app loses all its appeal. It's either 1 star or 5 stars depending on that functionality.

It's ok.. Intentions are right but effects are dull. Lets see more flicker, every setting fades. I'm really interested in a good fire effect or candlelight, but it needs flickering, not just fades. Looking forward to updates.

Best app for Hue lights. My kids love playing with the hue lights through this app. Very nice effects. I also use it to create a candle like romantic atmosphere. Must have app for Hue.

Great for me. Just got a Hue Phillips kit compatible with Homekit. I wanted Scintillator for Visualizer with music and it work great for me. By default it is a gradually fading effect but I combined effet to make it more active. Lots of fun.

Does not connect to Osram/Sylvania lightify. I have emailed the vendor 3 times and no response. I have asked for a refund. No response. The app will not connector to the Osram/Sylvania lightify account. Therefore it it absolutely useless. Do not buy this app.

Can’t get colours of choice. When I try to construct a preset of purple, for example, i might get lots of white, yellow, And red. Not at all the range I was going for. Same result if I use the suggested palettes. Rather than a sliding scale, I would like to be able to put together a preset using precise colour numbers.

Grrr.... Only first 6 devices, super annoying. Every single Hue app in the App Store seems to have 1 or 2 arbitrary limits / bugs This app only does 5 or 6 bulbs, even of you customize bulb sets. Since other apps don't have this limit, I'd call it a bug Also won't approximate bulb temperature with non bulb devices, other apps let you decide for yourself whether you'll accept approximate colors or not Still 4 stars, it's a cool idea and design

Don't buy if you have lifx. Waste of money if you have lifx bulbs. There is no guide telling you how to connect the bulbs. Completely worthless for lifx. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY

Need better help file for more bulbs. Eventually got them all working though and love it!

Great Ambient Lighting App for HUE!. I guess this app beat Goldee to the punch. Love the ability to generate my own moving colorscapes. Really sets the mood. Well worth it's low price point.

Ok App. Hue Disco is better for a party but this it better for setting color schemes. The update says bulbs change color instantly but they don't. I set the themes to link all bulbs together but they still are a few seconds off

Doesn't work. I just downloaded this app and it is incapable to connect with my bridge, including manually. Multiple attempts no results. The regular Philips Hue works just fine and connected with my bridge with the first try.

App works great, except.... As a lighting app, Scinillator works great. The only problem is that it suppresses all iPhone sounds when it is running.

The best of the Hue apps. I've tried all the Hue apps and keep coming back to this one.

Can’t choose bulbs. Forces effects onto all bulbs which is impractical if you have hues all over the house.

Does not pair with base. Please fix this as soon as possible. Do not buy until this bug is squashed, makes app completely unusable.

Problems. The music visualizer doesn't change the color of the lights at all. Super disappointing.

Easy Programming but mutes everything. The idea is great and the design is awesome. However, this app mutes all of your alerts...phone calls, emails, texts, everything!

Favorite Hue App. This is my favorite app for hue. I've really enjoyed it and the update just makes it better. It allows for a lot of flexibility.

Constant Crashes. This app is unusable. Trying to edit a bulb set crashes it every time. What else is there to say.

Lights stop when App closes. Read above. Once the app closes the color cycle just stops. So, I need to keep my phone open and running the app so it will work. This is not what I was expecting.

App won't connect to bridge. Just purchased this app and can't get it to connect to the bridge. Wifi is on and bridge button was pressed but doesn't find anything. My other hue apps are working just fine. Waiting for a fix before I up my score. As of now its an app I can't use.

Eh not worth the price. 😕. There are other apps similar to this app that do the same if not more that are free. Not worth the money to just rotate some colors in a loop.

Not worth while anymore.. As soon as your device locks or you switch out of this app the lights stop cycling through their patterns. At this point I might as well use the basic philips hue app.

Stellar app. This is one of my favorite apps, I hope they continue to expand and improve it👍

Doesn't connect with bridge. Won't connect with bridge other apps find bridge no problem. Please fix this bug
