Exxon Mobil Rewards+ Comments & Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Problem need fixing. The newest version of this App will not let two members of the same family use their ExxonMobil Credit Card on separate mobil devices even though both have separate ExxonMobil credit card. Crazy. I am an ExxonMobil retiree. My wife and I both have ExxonMobil Credit Cards. Both card have the same card number, same name, same expiration date, but have different card number: 001 & 002 and different security codes. Both cards are active and can be used at the pump or store to make purchases. But only one of us can use their ExxonMobil credit card with the ExxonMobil Rewards App. If you try to add the credit card to the second App you get an error message and told to call a customer service number. Then you just get the run around and can not get the problem solved. Gee, I would think ExxonMobil would want you to use their credit cards to buy gasoline. Dwayne Litteer

Now always “too far away”. UPDATE: They updated the app again to add the pay button back. But every time I’ve tried to use it, it tells me I’m too far away even though I’m at a station right next to the pump. The closest it shows ever is 0.8 miles away. Location services are on with precise location enabled. What an s-show this has turned out to be. This update is a classic demonstration as to why I need to turn off auto-updates. This new version is an update for update’s sakes. 1) The new version needs a brand new login and authentication. A bit inconvenient to stumble upon. 2) The biggest problem is the as others have mentioned is the lack of pay through the app. This is a massive omission between app versions. Namely the convenience of using a few taps from within your car to handle payment. The other is security against skimmers. Without a payment option, this becomes nothing more than a directory, promotion vehicle and geolocation tracker. So what is the plan, Exxon? If there isn’t an option to pay from the phone in the next incremental update, then there’s no reason to keep the app.

By far worse experience. Love Exxon Mobil gas and oil products, so I decided to try the speed pass not only for the offer it was giving but since I and the family where gonna be going on our family summer trip soon, and would be a great way to earn points as well as find the gas station I love to use. Well.... where do I start, on the start of this trip speed pass not only once got my credit card flagged for theft but did so twice. On our family trip I spent many hours in frustration not only with this app, but spent hours on the phone with my credit card company to get my cards to work again. Does anyone know what’s its like to be 1,000 miles away with no access to your money.... very scary! After this experience I am now looking for alternative gas and products to use in my vehicles away from this whole company/corporation... Thanks again ExxonMobil for taking the enjoyment from our family trip! You were the bad and most negative experience of our whole vacation!

Good, when it works.. TLDR; Use Shell’s app, it actually works. I don’t typically write reviews but I feel I have to on this one. Exxon’s loyalty program is smart and works great, when it works. The issue is 99% of the time it doesn’t work. The location services for the stations never work. So I end up having to email support with my receipt every time I get gas. After almost a year, this has become tiring. I talked to Exxon support (which is abysmal. They tried rushing me off the phone while barely listening to the issue). They told me they’re aware of the issue and trying to fix it. It’s been a year since I talked to them and I’m still having the issue. I tried using the Exxon rewards card and it never gave me the points. I was going to dispute the points with support, but I’m done with that. Honestly I’m just going to use Shell’s app because it’s easy to use and works every time. And when it doesn’t, I just type in my phone number and still get my discount. Exxon; please fix the location services. Thank you.

Always out of stock. I shop here usually every day because it is convenient. However over the last year I dread stopping because I know at least 5 times a week they are out of what I usually buy. I always buy two Starbucks mocha drinks and Palma’s red one hundreds along with gas. This last week the store has been closed 6 times because they were short staffed Everyday for the last two weeks they have been out of te cigarettes I buy. The same rude employees act like I am bothering them when I want to check out and I get the eye roll if I ask when will more of whatever they are out of or if they can check in the cooler to see if there are any in the back. The two employees that I have constant issues with is a large black but light skinned black lady with a super short hair cut dyed bleach blond. She never has a name tag on. The other one is even more lazy. He works the night shift and if you show up after 230 the doors are locked and he is either sleeping in his car or hiding in the store. People bang on the door and he ignores them. He was licking his finger when he was about the check the person out in front of me. He touched their stuff with his just licked fingers. He had been eating chips. It was so unsanitary. Then I asked for my cigarettes and was told still out this is two weeks now and Starbucks he tells me he isn’t going to check they are out. I was actually glad he was lazy this time I wouldn’t have to wanted him touching my stuff at all.

Horrible new app, impossible to merge acvounts. I'd give this app zero stars is I could because it is utterly useless to ne. I can't log in. Basically, I used the password reset, and I got an email with a temporary password. So far, so good, I entered the temporary password, and it worked to get me to a screen that said my email is associated with an Exxon Mobile Rewards account and that I needed to enter my Exxon Mobile Rewards password. If course, I don't have it. That's the reason I tried to reset my password in the first place! So I hit the "forgot password" link on the new screen. It asked me for my email, but when I entered it the app kept saying that it was an invalid email. So basically there's no way to reset my password and get back into the app. This app is more trouble than it's worth, and I'm just going to delete the app from my phone.

App failure coupled with customer support that tells you to go to hell! 😂😂. App payment was blocked from day 1 for some reason. Called customer support they said they will fix it in 24 hrs. 24 hrs passed app still blocked called customer support again, sane thing as before. Waited 48 hrs this time I got an email saying the app was unblocked, when I went to the pump and was ready to use it, guess what?! Gave me the same error again! Being the patient guy I am, I called them back and went through the same dialogue of waiting and trying. I swear to you I’m not exaggerating, I tried this 5 times!! The last time I called the customer support person (his name was Luke) said he was going to issue a ticket and that he would get back to me in 24 hrs, when I told him that this is the 5th time that I do this and being told the same thing, trying to explain to him how frustrating it is, he simply asked if I wanted him to peruse the ticket or not, he didn’t care about anything I said and basically didn’t want to deal with it. I just thanked him and pledged never to go in an Exxon Mobil station or use a product affiliated with this company ever again.

Bad customer service experience. I loved this app until the latest update. The station locator was missed immediately but after I found a station (using a different app) the trouble started. When I went to use the app to pay for gas I received an error message to call customer support. I called and the pleasant representative took note of my concern, explained that there was a freeze placed on my app (my debit card is tied to the app not a cc) but could not give a reason (their system was updating). She sent an email to IT, I was told it would be resolved in 1-3 business days, and that someone would give me a call. Here we are 3+ days later, no call. I called customer support again and a less than pleasant representative told me all that could be done was to send another email to IT and wait... No apology for the inconvenience, no explanation, no real concern was displayed. It may have been an off day for the rep (we all have those) however the lack of procedure for correcting an internal glitch is unacceptable especially for a company as large as ExxonMobil.

New update not working?. The app was great until the new release. Now I can no longer use it at the pump. Tried reinstalling it and it didn’t help. After my family members had the same experience, I realized it’s the app. I’ll keep trying to use it but meanwhile I’m loosing out on rewards since I have to enter my card at the pump. As others said it states I’m too far. It’s also slower then the previous version. Took forever for my rewards to load. Bottom line this app is useless right now. UPDATE: Received a response from the developer who said to call support. I Did that and they had me close and reopen my account. They did transfer over my points. I asked will this resolve the location issue? Her response was on no that won’t. That issue is the stations fault for not updating there software to work with the new app. She also said all I need to do is enter my number to access my rewards. Well guess what that doesn’t work as well. I’m starting to think if she is right about the stations not updating there software.

Holds money with no sale. At first I thought this app was great and convenient. And then I went to fill up twice in a day on a road trip and it wouldn’t authorize my payment. Well according to the app that is. Still had to make another form of payment but for every time I tapped the button trying to make the app work, they put a hold of $26 on my card-which they didn’t return to me for a week! When I emailed customer service about the issue they replied weeks later said the account had fraudulent activity(for taking a road trip and filling up more than once?) and was put on hold. But then why was my money being held? I tried to let it go and just not use it more than once in a day but then last night it again said it could not process my payment. So I had to pull out my card and pay. And wouldn’t you know when I checked my account there was an additional $26 hold for the payment they supposedly couldn’t process? Absolutely ridiculous. My money is not for these people to decide to hold for no valid reason. I deleted the app immediately.

New interface is a step backwards. The old way of picking the pump number was a delight - it popped up and let you swipe to the number and hit a confirmation button. It’s only setting of 4 that you typically have to change during a transaction. Now to select the pump you have to click into a form field (and not the first one), which doesn’t have a distinctive focus state, so you’re not entirely sure that you’ve clicked into it, then wait for it to bring up a full alphanumeric keyboard to type in the number of the pump and then hit enter. A two-click, one-handed operation has now been turned into a multi-step, multi-click one. And this is the task that is the most important to the user.

Useless. This app gave me trouble on day one of its use but after day two, it has been trashed. Got the app and, as I was going on a cross country drive, tested it at home right away. Went to the station, pulled up to the pump, and clicked on “pay for fuel”, selected the payment method, and tried to authorize the pump. Got a message that authorization failed, try another pump. Tried again, and again. At the third pump, success. Filled the tank, payed with the CC, got the receipt. All was good. Next day, get in the car on the first leg of my journey. About 350 miles into the trip used the app to locate the nearest station only to find that station closed and closed for a long time. Back on the highway to the next Exxon station. Same deal as before, could not authorize the pump, try again. Tried again. Tried another pump. Finally went to a different station and tried again. Same story. Then, to my horror, my credit card was frozen by my bank because every one of these attempts to authorize a pump looked to the bank like suspicious activity. Managed to get gas by paying with an alternate card directly like I have always done in the past and, after calling the bank, got my CC unfrozen. Trashed the app. Don’t waste your time with this. When you need it most, it will fail.

Aggravated in VA. The app is great when it works. I m going on 2 months of intermittent use. First I was only able to use it the 1st time using the Exon smart card for payment. Then it locked up the payment the next time and during my initial sign up I opted to not get a card because I did not want another card to have to carry. Well you can’t set up an online account without the actual card which turned into a nightmare which after 3 calls and over a month gone by before I got the actual smart card and now I cannot even add it as a payment. During this whole process I kept adding other card payment forms so I could keep using the app. However I continue to have issues getting it to work and it having a hold put on it twice which renders it useless. Seems that if you have a weak signal trying to use the app and keep trying to connect it basically locks you out(guessing in their terms places a hold on your account) which takes them 3 days to review. Meanwhile your filling your gas tank with no way to even tie your fill ups to your reward account to continue to earn points. And it is a hit or miss for an actual attendant in the gas stations to be of any help. I’m hoping once I am able to get my smart card added it will be a bit more reliable, but not holding my breath! Good luck with your experience!

Convenient w/Apple Pay. I downloaded the App to give it a try because I always try to refuel my vehicle at a local Mobil station that has been remodeled, is clean, and convenient to my home or work. I didn’t love the idea of loading my credit card to the App to pay for the fuel but I do like using the Apple Pay feature to pay for fuel. I use my a credit card that credits me 5% cash back on fuel purchases so that’s a bonus. The App always works and I honestly feel that the transaction is a little safer than swiping my card at the pump. I do everything on the App right inside my car then get out and the pumps are ready to use. My wife and daughter also really like this App and use it every time. I used it on a cross country 1,400 mile drive and it worked every time at the Mobil stations.

Functionally Broken. I have been a long time user of this app. Before the most recent update, it was phenomenal. Paying for gas was so fast and easy. Unfortunately, since the redesign the app has been incredibly frustrating. Old accounts stopped working, so I had to create a new account and login to get into the app. At least at first, the app did still work when you got logged in. But pretty quickly the app stopped working entirely. For the last two weeks, each day I go to pay for gas it tells me that the pump is unavailable. When I try other pumps it quickly tells me that I’ve submitted too many requests and that I am locked out for 24 hours. It’s been over two weeks since I’ve been able to use the app to purchase gas at all, and am forced to resort to paying the old-fashioned way. I wouldn’t recommend downloading the app until they get everything sorted out.

latest update issue. I can’t get my existing information in to the new updated app. version. It tells me there is an existing account with my entry information which is correct have been using for years but does not allow me to engage the associated member into this updated version. If I try all over like first time registration then it tells me there is an existing account and associated with a membership number so how can I combine my existing membership information after login in to the new application platform. Asking for phone number and pin two times then says it is already associated with an account and does not let me combine them again to use the updated application. There is definitely something needs to be done and now whole application became useless.

Bye-bye Good Speed Pass Hello App Better.... Learning my Speed Pass technology had been replaced with an App, I reluctantly added the App to my iPhone 6+. I resisted using the App believing the Speed Pass was so easy to use, why complicate purchasing gas with an App. The interface is different. But different better. I realized I can pull up to the Exxon-Mobil station I prefer, and while remaining in my vehicle, launch the App (already logged in) select the pump identified by number, select buy gas, type in PIN number, request authorization, open filler cap from inside my vehicle in advance, select grade of gas and fill up my tank. No more pressing buttons on the pump’s keypad. While I prefer receipts, I never request them. Now an email arrives promptly and is easily organized so my receipt records are readily available. Love setting up the purchase from inside my vehicle. The App works perfectly.

Speedpass & Plenti are a perfect match!. I downloaded the speed pass last night, super quick and easy to set up, it synced with my applepay and I was able to add another card easily, I added my Plenti account also. I watched the video (super quick) on how to pay at the pump and apply Plenti points to my purchase. I tried it out tonight, I got to the pump, the app was open and I was recognized right away, I picked my pump # on the app and selected how many points to use towards my gas and that was it! Pumped my gas and got a receipt! I'm normally a 711 fan, but the easy use of this app and purchasing gas has made me switch to the Exxon family! Plus if you think about it, no one can take your card number, watch you put in your pin, you don't need to bring your card and no more touching the keypad (cause I'm sure everyone before you has washed their hands prior to using) ❤️❤️

It USED to be good. I don’t know what happened with the last upgrade but this app but it’s now totally USELESS! I have deleted the app and reinstalled and after using it for YEARS- it no longer works. And my husband has the same issues using it on his phone as well. For the past month or so we both get the following error message whenever we try to login (password and email login has NOT been changed): “Something happened - An error occurred. Please try again later.” There’s a “ok” button at the bottom of the screen as well. When we click the ok button, it takes us back to the sign on screen that is already prefilled with our info. Click “sign in” and we get looped right back to the “Something happened….” Error message. It’s frustrating, inconvenient and EXTREMELY AGGRAVATING. I am almost to the point of deleting the whole thing and going to Shell for my gasoline. Don’t bother downloading this app. It’s total garbage!!!

Auto update to this app breaks my ability to use it. Oct 2 update: continue to get deflection runaround from EM. Claim use of Personal card is not allowed due to security reasons but know of another retiree using his w/o issue. Then I get another email from the “developer” with what to try to correct - same instructions as initially given that didn’t work. Tired of the deflection so I’m planning to wait until EM figures out that they don’t know how to fix. I’ll take my business elsewhere likely. My Speedpass+ app was auto changed to the new Rewards app overnight. Cannot get past the login process which is asking for my old Speedpass password to link the accounts. Called Customer Support who had me try multiple different tries, only to tell me to wait 24hrs and try again. This means yet another lengthy wait to talk to someone else who doesn’t know what’s going on. I was satisfied with the old app. Obviously the new verse wasn’t vetted properly.

The customer service is not good. Me and my family all got the rewards app and we frequently visit our local exxon store and within the week all of our accounts have been blocked and call to get it removed. Apparently we been told that it will take a couple of weeks to get it reviewed by someone to unblocked it and well send a email to let us know if its been unlocked. I haven’t gotten a email within two months already but my mother has and it says her account is canceled? I have carefully read the term of service and it say they can mess with your account when on hold. So basically they canceled her account for no reason at all. So now she cant use her exxon account or try to make another with the same information. Its really unfortunate but what can you do expect deal with it I suppose. So this is a warning on what can happen if you get blocked. So be careful not to use your exxon account multiple times or you can get blocked very quickly and have to handle with the bad customer service and probably never get your account unlocked.

When it works.. I’ve had this app for about four years. It was perfect. With so much card reader tampering this was ideal. Just pull up, open the app, chose your pump, pump your gas and your done. You receive rewards points each time you pump your gas and in these trying times the reward points come handy. Receipt for gas is emailed or printed at the pump. The app keeps track of all of your points and transactions. Beautiful. Recently Exxon decided they needed to upgrade the app. Now it is terrible. Your have to sign in to the app every time you pull up to the pump. Sometimes the app doesn’t know your location or the station your at. If you don’t use the app, you don’t get any rewards points. If you can’t get into the app you have to go inside and put a deposit down for your gas. This is trash. I hope they get it fixed soon.

A “downgrade” not an “upgrade!”. Having used earlier versions of this app for years — easily, successfully, happily — our experience with this so-called upgrade has been atrocious! Just getting it set up for use — something supposedly as easy as entering our XOM credit cards as payment methods — has required multiple, frustrating, time-consuming efforts. We finally got mine to work. But, despite a dozen attempts, my wife’s app still refuses to accept her XOM card — a valid card she used to purchase gasoline as recently as yesterday — generating repeated “your card could not be validated” error messages. So then we called the support phone number shown and spent 10 minutes “arguing” with the automated response system that had no idea how to help, finally routed us to a representative, only to learn that the office was closed and we can now look forward to going through this whole terrible process again tomorrow. The app used to work easily and well. Whoever thought this version would be an “upgrade” should have his/her/their head examined — this is absolutely a “downgrade!” If we could rate it zero — or even negative — stars, we definitely would! :-(

AVOID: terrible, persnickety, painfully arduous. No support.. The cards I added keep referring me to my bank. Which I already confirmed with each institution and they are both working. Next up I have to call their customer help line which operates on EST only so I have never spoken to anyone as it’s always closed when I’m either not at work or actually getting gas. This app didn’t work a few years ago when I tried it out as part of a CSR Survey with 4 other people each assigned a different method of filling up via Apps. There’s no help screen or support window and the FAQ or knowledge base to assist one in troubleshooting is non existent with a smattering or information. Ditto everything I just said here about the god awful Shell save and pay or whatever it’s called. Same bugs. Same non existent means of troubleshooting that doesn’t require some arcane bizarre ritual to even get the app to actually recognize YOURE IN THEIR BRANDS GAS STATION. Talk about missing the point entirely. Avoid unless you just wanna curse like a sailor sat in your Car as yet another error bubble pops up and asks you to call or “make sure your details are correct.” If something isn’t correct on the 11th copy paste of the exact info I have on my card - then I need taking out to pasture, and putting out of my misery hahah

Broken app. Another update… still completely broken. Now, even worse, it locks you out for 24 hours ever time you try to pay at the pump. The level of incompetence by these developers, and how they refuse to acknowledge the issues and tries to blame users and give invalid “instructions”, is disgusting. Update: Note to developers…. NO THAT DOES NOT WORK. THE APP IS BROKEN. Location services are enabled for the app, and the app sees that I am at a station just fine. It DOES NOT give any option to pay at all. No pump select. No QR option. NOTHING. As I said, it is broken and you should be embarrassed to have released this build with such a basic failure….. Original: The recent update to the app broke it’s one primary function.. to pay for gas. The option to pay is no longer available. The app is now completely useless. As both a software dev and QA dev of over 20 years, there. Is no way such a major and obvious bug should have made it to release. I would be ashamed to work for a company this incompetent.

Very, very convenient when working.. I love pulling up to pump, staying in the warm car without having to fumble with my payment method outside or keying in Plenti card, then jumping out and pumping. No longer run the risk of dropping/misplacing my credit card at the station. The app makes it convenient to track your gas purchases. Though it hasn’t happened in the past few weeks, usually the pump would not work when you squeeze after the app says authorized. Was Also getting error messages on the app. Then my Keychain Plenti card wouldn’t work at pump or inside at register and would have to call Plenti to reimburse my points. They are usually excellent when you call except once recently when the girl kept repeating that she’s crediting my points as a “one time courtesy” when the need to call in for points happens on a regular basis. On a whole based on convenience I do recommend the app.

App just stopped signing in. Update: it’s working again! Thanks for listening to the feedback. I really do love the app and it is easy to get fuel and use discounts that accrue by simply tapping the button to use points. Original review: This app used to work well, but about a month ago it began giving The error message “oops! Something happened!“ Seems like a silly and nondescript error, and it happens every time I attempt to log in using the app. Before this, the app seemed to work well and it may simply be associated with iOS 14. I’m still able to login on their website, but not the app. Before this, it was a pretty good app allowing me to occasionally get a couple of dollars off my gas as I built up points. I also like that it excepted Apple Pay through the app, minimizing the locations my credit card information is stored.

TAKES YOUR MONEY FOR DAYS. I love the convenience of the app I swear. Not having to walk in the store to pay for gas is very nice, I love pulling to the pump and paying for my gas. What I DONT LIKE is you all will charge me 100 dollars when I’m only getting about $25 worth of gas and it takes 3-4 days for the $75 to come back in my account. That is extremely frustrating, especially heading into a recession. Please try to update the app with $20,$50, or $100 options so you won’t automatically wipe folks of all there money for a few days just because they need gas. There should be a way to pick the price you want to pump without just holding 100 before we pump. If we don’t have $100 in our account and have $75 the app will take the entire $75 when I only need $20 worth of gas and now I’m out $55 until it comes back in 3-4 days that needs to stop and it causes me to use the app less so I can save money. The irony

Complete Garbage. When Exxon had the little stick for speed pass it easy to buy gas. Now that they have forced us to use an app that is complete garbage, I will buy gas elsewhere. The previous version of the app never worked for me, even after multiple calls to the hotline. This current version won’t let me log in, so I reset my password then it wants another password, so I try to reset that one and it starts me all over again, so I’m stuck in a loop. My wife was able to use the previous version of the app and had become a Premium member even, but with this latest update it keeps rejecting her password and her attempts to reset it. Since the app has never worked for me and now it doesn’t work for her, she went online and closed her account. I know Exxon could careless about losing our business but hopefully this review will steer other people away from this garbage app.

Used to awesome, now totally useless.. I used to love this app. It made paying for gas easy, and I’d earn useful reward points through the app. However, I recently tried to add a new payment card to the app (Visa card, so nothing fancy.) Got the card added to the account without error, but when I tried to use the app to pay with the new card at a Mobil gas station ... the app refused to do so, insisting that I call customer service. Since I did not have time to waste on the phone at that point, I instead just manually inserted the new card (noting that it worked!) at the pump and got on with my morning. Called customer service later about the issue and was told that the card couldn’t be used at Mobil (despite me pointing out that it had already been used at a Mobil that very morning, just not through the app.) But OK, I’ll just use the other card I had been previously using in the app instead ... not the end of the world. Alas, the other card (which previously worked) now no longer works in the app either!! In fact, I can’t even successfully add any cards at this point. This basically means the app can no longer be used to make purchases, so is essentially useless. I guess enjoy the app while you can, but expect the whole thing to just stop working for you somewhere down the road ... hopefully you’ll have a physical payment card with you at that point in time!

Love this app 😳. Hope this finds you well and healthy? This is a awesome app I have been using this app for quite a while now and I love it you all it a great job on this app. however lately it is not working at all I pull up to the gas station I open up the app and it will not open up I go home I open up the app and it opens up like nothing wrong with it and functions just fine The first time I thought oh my Internet was not on I checked it, my phone was functioning fine the first & second time brought up a display screen something went wrong not sure what to think about it right now lol 😆

Took my money and never authorized pump. Set up Apple Pay with the app since they say all Exxon stations accept Apple Pay. Have used it twice before no problem. Yesterday went to get gas. Do the usual choose pump# and choose payment. It gives me some error message, takes ALL the money I had in my Apple Cash and doesn’t authorize the pump. I would have to fill two full tanks with premium for the amount of money it took. I just ended up using my debit card. I go to speak to a worker and he says they don’t accept Apple Pay here and there’s nothing he can do. So how am I supposed to know which station accepts apple pat and which doesn’t??? I thought the point was they all do. After a frustrating 1 hour back and forth with 3 representatives from The app customer service, they tell me they can’t do anything to call apple (they also did not know how Apple Pay works. I had to explain that Apple Cash is money that can be sent to me by someone else and is not associated with my bank account and I can’t just “call my bank”). I finally called apple and they were a bit more helpful and opened up a case. So hopefully this can get resolved. I won’t be using Apple Pay from now on. I will attempt to add a debit or credit card and hopefully that won’t give me problems. But if it gives me even just 1, I’m deleting. Not worth the frustration.

Awful to even worse. Latest update: Last time the app had an update, I got logged out and was prompted to log back in. Now whatever I do, no what later which method of signing in I use I can’t get in. Not even by trying to change my password! I was able to use it once “as a guest” (I.E. not getting or using my points at all), but now even that option isn’t even available. Don’t get me wrong - I know my password, I know my log in info, it just won’t log me in. I get “an error has occurred” every time. Thought it was a glitch and would be rectified soon as the support team realized the app had a big, but no, it’s been a few weeks now and no change. Time perhaps to change to a different gas station - one that has a secure payment method that actually works. Precious version: There are two things you want to do with this app: pay for fuel and find a gas station. They have removed the ability to find a gas station with this new app release. Fair enough - we can use google maps anyway. But now the only reason I’d use the app is to pay for fuel, and you actually have to search to find the button to pay for fuel! Stupidest app update ever. Wish I could revert to the previous version.

Location feature not working in Version 5.0. M. The Exxon Mobil Speedpass + app was recently upgraded and the location services is not working. I have the location setting enabled to always on my iPhone and have the Speedpass+ app setting set to always but when I select “Pay Now” it shows me a screen with a red exclamation point that there was a problem detecting my location. I have deleted and reinstalled the app multiple times and followed the setup instructions to enable location but still get the error. I have also tried using the app at different gas stations to no avail. There seems to be a bug with his new version and it is inconvenient to use the QR scanning option. Please address as this makes the new version useless. Update: There still is no location feature in this update and not sure what bug fixes were done but the app performs exactly as it did prior to this update. Do the developers actually use this app in the real world to test that it works? The “Find Station’s” link is the most important feature of the app and that is how we find Exxon/Mobil’s when traveling!. Also, the developer did not take Ford Pass into account when they upgraded. Now all Ford Pass users can not use this app until Ford decides to upgrade Sync 3 to this new version.

Rolling downhill. The app used to be great, but it seems the devs have not kept up with the issues. It no longer opens, doesn’t work on iOS 17, has barely worked on iOS 16, constantly logs you out for no reason, has trouble logging you back in, and the list goes on - and this is all in Baytown where our plants are located. As an employee, my family shares this account and use this app all the time for gas. It’s frustrating to think we put this out as a company with little QA behind it. EDIT Oct 29, 2023 This new version is the exact opposite of what everyone has been asking for. Typing in the pump number outside in the sunlight on a white screen!?! Brilliant. Who would even think of something like that? And, let’s not forget the lack of a dark mode in the app for years. Oh, and the forced phone 2FA now. Beyond stupid. My daughter put her number in when she accessed the app after the backwards upgrade and I couldn’t login. If I put my number in, no one else in the family can login. This literally makes the app USELESS - U S E L E S S. App team, do a favor for all the users, dump this version and go back to the previous one. Then, try to fix things from there. We now will be going to the credit card solely because of what was done in this “upgrade”.

Useless Unreliable App. This app used to work great. It was very convenient to pull into the gas station, open the app, and pay for your gas without a credit card. Over the past several months, however, the app all of a sudden has become completely useless. Error messages include “oops, something went wrong,” or “something happened, try again later.” I tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling. I called their customer service line and was transferred to some vendor tech line with voicemail. Prior to being transferred, however, the customer service representative did admit that they are having major problems with their app. Our small company has a credit account with Exxon. We are so disappointed with the way that this large organization has handled this major problem with their app that we are going to try to switch our credit account for the business to someone else like Shell. We have wasted many hours trying to deal with this issue and cannot find any guidance online or on their customer service phone number. They know they have a major problem. Yet, they allow their customers to waste countless hours thinking that there’s something wrong with their phone or the information they have entered into the system. This is unacceptable.

What happened to this app?. This app used to function flawlessly, now it is VERY SLOW and SLUGGISH. The original selling points for the app was its ease of use AND the SPEED of use (originally called ‘SpeedPass’). Now with all the extra features this thing is REALLY SLOW when all you want to do is to get some gasoline. While purchasing gas today I couldn’t help but think that it would be faster to use the credit card. That kind of defeats the purpose of having the app! Hey ExxonMobil, you’ve ‘improved’ this so much you’re making it very clumsy and slow to use. You need to get back to the original goals of the app or people will start to abandon it and it will fail as a customer interface platform.

Cannot add vehicle to profile. Kind of annoyed at this app right now. I am trying to add my car to my profile and the page just keeps loading. The load box appears and then disappears without the drop menu coming up. I have deleted the app several times and restarted my phone to try to fix the problem nothing seems to work. I can only think this may be a problem with the edmunds site since I can’t get it to work with all these fixes. And I can’t do it online because the website seems to have been abandoned and I can’t log in even though I have no problem logging into the app. I hope this can be fixed. This app seemed to have been working perfectly and now this problem. Update: Now I managed to add my car to the account I go to use the app at a Mobil and it now doesn’t work. I get a message saying “issue with account. Call customer service.” I am done with this app. Its not working out for me and will be sticking to my old faithful GasBuddy and BPme apps instead. Will be deleting this along with my speedpass account.

Great update miss old functionality.. First off this app is great and I have almost removed my physical Exxon Card from my wallet. There are still a few stations that I have used recently that the app has failed to authorize the pump but the attendant said their new payment system does not work with Speedpass or credit cards at the diesel pumps yet, so it is not the apps fault. It has only been two weeks since I have been able to use the convenience of pay at the pump, hopefully they will get it together soon or I will start looking for another Exxon station to frequent. One short coming in my opinion is the loss of sharing purchases from within the app. I may be in the minority but it was a great convenience to be able to send my companies Human Resources admin an email with my vehicle mileage and vehicle number without having to leave the app and going to my email client and sending it from there. In conclusion I would like to share a quick story. I was able baffle the attendant at an Exxon station one day by authorizing the diesel pump with out having to go in to get it manually authorized since pay at the pump is still an anomaly at some Exxon Mobil diesel pumps. I bet he is still scratching his head.

Do not use be warned. I have had this app for over a year. All of a sudden today I was charged 106 dollars to almost fill a 2012 Honda Civic. Which has a tank capacity of about 15 gallons. I went in the station which advised they have nothing to do with the issue and to call Exxon’s 800 customer service line. I contacted Exxon at the 800 number and they indicated it’s between me and the local station and I should dispute the charges with my bank. I contacted my bank who indicated I need to wait for the transaction to settle prior to disputing the charge. In the meantime I’m out 100 dollars for five days. I’m not sure how to prove this out as my receipt indicates 100 bucks even though I’ve never spent that on the app throughout the history of using the app. Do yourself a favor avoid this app at all cost because clearly no one owns the issue of how to handle when things go wrong like happened to me.

BAD update. I have used this app for a very long time and it was great. After this last update, it logged me out and then would not sync my rewards card with the app login. It was on a vicious loop of logging into the app then asking for my rewards password and telling me the password was invalid. When I clicked “forgot password” it gave me a temp one and I logged into the app but again looped back to syncing with the rewards card and telling me the password was wrong. I had to literally change my email on the website to a different old email in order to be allowed to log in, and it finally took. I’m not sure why this update would make this so complicated nor why it did not sync my previous credentials in the first place. Very frustrating and honestly when this happened at the pump and I did not have my physical card, I went elsewhere.

FANTASTIC APP TO PREVENT FRAUD. I love this app. Six months ago, I went to a Mobil gas station in Orange County, California (Westminster to be specific) and became a victim of fraud the moment I swiped my credit card. It wasn’t a big deal for me because I notified my bank and they immediately deactivated that card and canceled the transaction. With this app, Exxon is taking an excellent big step towards the future where payments will be completely digitalized via mobil phones. I love this app so much because it incorporated Apple Pay. My only complaint is that Exxon Mobil corporate needs to tell all of its franchises within the Orange County area to upgrade their gas pumps. Other than that, very good app and 100% satisfied.

Great App for paying for gas. Edit: October 2023, ver. 16.1, App works great but they really need to add it to the CarPlay interface. Apple opened this functionality over a year ago with iOS 16, but so far ExxonMobil has not taken advantage of it. I downloaded this app when it came out since I have been a long-time Mobil customer. In addition to Apple Pay, I added my ExxonMobil credit card to the payment options (set it to default). I’ve used the app twice so far, once paying via the ExxonMobil card option and today using Apple Pay. Both work well. The app uses your location to determine if you are at a SpeedPass Plus station. You open the app and select your pump number. It authorizes, then you select your gas grade on the pump. After pumping, you get a notification of a receipt on your phone. And, I got the same notification on my Apple Watch! Very cool and lightning fast!

Non beneficial, help me understand!. Cuz: OMG, I was just bamboozled in the store. I used my points, the store attendant said it didn’t work. So I left the store to avoid the hassle of him telling me that I can’t use my points when I know darn well I can. Once I left, I proceeded to check my app to see my points. Low an behold my points has been deducted. So I actually paid for a product the cashier said I didn’t or I couldn’t. And now my points is gonna. So I actually love this app. It gives you points on the back end. In and out of the store. But there is a dilemma that needs to be address. How is it saving me money if the store you use, has a cash and credit price. So using the app is considered credit, which means if the gas station you use has a cash or credit price you are paying credit price. Which in my case is 10¢ higher. So now using the app is defeating the purpose, except for convenience. Please fix this or I might as well go back to using cash. Because I’m losing not saving. PS: needs to make a way to use or upload receipts. Or scan so I can get my points if I forget to use the app or because the card I used is not linked. So once again how is that beneficial for us?

LATEST UPDATE HANGS UP. Yesterday, Jan 15, 2024, I used the updated app to pump gas, but when done, the pump screen would not close out the sale, showing “continuing …. “. Both my app and the inside station clerk showed I was still pumping gas. She printed me a receipt and put a bag over the pump, saying she would contact service. My app shows no gas was pumped, and now I just hope no one else get gas somehow under my open ‘card’! For one of the world’s largest corporations, this app’s failure is unbelievable. PREVIOUS REVIEW FALL 2023: “UPDATE WILL NOT WORK WITH IPHONE: With the latest update in fall of 2023, the “use wallet” overlay when opening app prevents any further screen response. I’ve reinstalled app and it makes no difference. Previously, I LOVED this app, but now I HATE HAVING TO CARRY MY CARD ALL THE TIME. And since the card is not a credit card, only a gas card, I cannot add it to Apple Wallet. Totally frustrating!”

Pre-update this was a GREAT app…. I have been using this app for years. I never had any kind of issue. Anytime I pulled into a gas station, the gas station immediately picked up the phone and I could select the pump. I wanted to use and go. I understand the software has been updated internally, and this new update is wrought with issues. 1) I had to sync my card back up to the app and it wouldn’t allow me to do it many times. I had to uninstall and reinstall the app several times until it married up. 2) Something is wrong with the mapping system. The majority of Exxon are no longer on the map. Since they’re not on the map, you can’t use the remote pump to start pumping your gas. It’s as the majority of Exxon gas stations have all disappeared. They are not on the map at all, including my favorite Exxon. 3) when I pulled into the gas station. It synced up to another Exxon that I was nowhere near. I had no option to change stations. The old layout had a button and the lower right hand corner that you could press and one of the options was fine the station, and then it would sync up to your station. That no longer exist. This design stinks I may change gas companies and go to another carrier because this app has really let me down.

Takes the car filling experience to a whole new level. Love this app! No need to even touch the screens on the pump. Keep track of receipts right there. It takes gas stations to a whole new level. The only thing I don’t get is that here on the App Store it shows support for Apple Wallet, meaning the ability to add some sort of pass to your wallet (separate the Apple Pay.) I don’t know what that could possibly be for, I don’t see an “Add to Wallet” option anywhere in the app. Anyways, I love how it automatically knows which station you’re at. It could not be simpler. I always thought that having Apple Pay + NFC at the pump would inevitably be a better but the fact that this app actually replaces the regular list of options and prompts normally found on the out dated screens on the pump takes the car filling experience to a whole new level. Just pull it out of your pocket or pull it up on your watch, select your pump number, scan for Apple Pay and you’re done. It’s that simple. I have no regrets with this service. If they ever add NFC Apple Pay to the pumps I will strongly consider continuing to use this app still. Thank you!

Why Exxon, why?. I use this app a lot. In fact, it’s the main reason I use Exxon. But then, you had to go and change a perfectly good app into this. The old version was so simple, first open it, then choose the pump and authorize. Now I’m presented with this glitzy “experience” type app, which forces me it use a menu to choose the pay at pump feature. And if that wasn’t bad enough, the first time I go to use it - IT DOESN’T WORK! Now I’ve got emails saying my Apple account is locked out (which could be spam/phishing attempt, who knows). But, to top off this “incredible new experience”, the Speedpass. App is no longer available for the Apple Watch. Do you have any idea how useful/convenient that was? My sincerest hope is that this is just temporary, and that in the very near future you’ll fix this mess you’ve created. I’m updating my review because I tried the app again a couple days later and it worked. So, I’ll keep using it. I still don’t like the new apps look so I’ll only go 3 Stars. Give me back my Apple Watch app, and I’ll give it 4 stars.

Upgrade removed useful feature. Was a bit frustrated after the update. I was happy that after having to create a new account it did sync properly. With experience in other apps and the previous one I was not expecting this. I am frustrated the Apple Watch app was removed. It was nice to hit two things on my watch to pay for fuel. It would also be nice if touch/face is could be used instead of having to type in a pin EVERY TIME I open the app to pay. I understand the security but would be helpful to have this. The whole point of this is SPEED pass. Not slow pass where I have to hit just as many buttons on my phone as I would if I pulled out my card at the pump. Also a view of current reward status on the pay screen would be a nice addition.

Points Don’t Accrue Properly. The app itself is fine. The interface is intuitive and the layout and design are helpfully minimalistic. However, it’s is very common for the points to simply not materialize after a purchase, which is essentially the bedrock of the rewards program and the primary reason for using the app. Before you say - maybe you aren’t doing it correctly - I have called customer service and discussed this issue, confirmed that my account is open and active, and that there isn’t anything process-wise on my end that causes this error. I pay for gas directly in the app, the app registers when I’m fueling and when I’m finished, and has a copy of my transaction receipt in my account history following the purchase. However, the rewards points don’t show up, even days later. This is a 4 star app if the rewards program upon which the app is based works. But if you can’t get points for purchases, the app isn’t worth the slight time savings you get by not having to insert your card at the pump. The points system needs to work properly.

Went from being useless to “okay”. I wasn’t able to login, all the same issues as seem to be prevalent, and was very angry. I didn’t call customer service, I sent an email through the app because somehow we were able to contact for help without being logged in. It took a couple of days to get a response, but I got two emails: the first a password reset, and the second from a CCS with instructions on how to get my app working. And it worked! Thank you to Clarissa. Now it works fine, I just wish it still had Apple Watch compatibility like the old app did, hence only three stars. If we get a update with watch compatibility, I will move this rating up again.

It works and then it doesn't. I think this is a great idea, but I can't get it to stay working. I had set up and used it. Then the next time just after I hit authorize the pump it failed. I tried reentering my data and it returned a system error, try again later. Very frustrating as I can't take advantage if the current 10 cent discount. I got a response from the developer explaining the issues I was having, mostly due to my account being frozen (which I had no knowledge) due to suspicious activity (didn’t know that either). Anyway, the issues are resolved and the app is working again for me, although it sometimes fails to start at a station I frequent, just get a spinning wheel.

“Something went Wrong “. This is the message I received the last two times I attempted to use the App to get gas. I even changed the password to attempt to fix it. Now in response to your email (which asked me to open the App) it’s doing it again. I’ve used this App for years and this is the first I’ve had trouble. However, you really should be advised that something is wrong! Please fix it, and stop wasting my time! After reaching out to “customer service” I was told by your representative that I had been “locked out” of the App. Really? I didn’t know that! He won’t on to say that he couldn’t reset the system. That I had to call back the next day, then he could reset it?!?! Soo is this what you meant by, “We’re here to help”???? Exactly how many attempts must I make to receive that “help”? Please advise!

Yuck.... This update fails in multiple ways. First of all, I no longer stay signed in. Second, I am forced to view the rewards program information when I open the app. And it was not immediately clear how to actually pay for gas. Seriously? How can I ever hope to get rewards if you make it so much more work to pay for your products? Third, the screen color is so harsh on the eyes I can’t even imagine trying to purchase gas at night. Fourth, If I am traveling as people tend to do in their cars I can no longer find the nearest Mobile gas station. How stupid is that? How can I earn reward points and buy gas if I can’t get help finding your stations? Really wish I could have avoided this update. The previous version was light years ahead of this experience.

App works great but something's wrong. The first two times I filled up it worked. $0.10/gallon discount. Then I went on a trip to NC. ExxonMobil station in Mississippi wasn't active on the app. Tried 2 more times once in NC another in GA. The stations seemed to have the ability to do speedpass but my account was blocked both times. Called customer service and talked to someone and they said I would get an email when the problem cleared but I haven't heard anything. I am using this forum to get someone in customer Service's attention. I never have a problem with my Shell rewards card.

Devoted user - upgrade stinks!. I have used this app exclusively to get fuel for several years, and have LOVED it! (Seriously, big fan! I even got the credit card to go with it, and have converted many others to Exxon because of it.) I fill up about twice a week and it’s been awesome!! The latest upgrade however is a hot mess!!!! I have 2 big issues: 1- There is no way to search for a nearby station anymore. When I travel I prefer to use the app to pay for fuel, but when I don’t know the area I depended on that functionality to find a station. 2- There are too many glitchy wormholes that you can stumble into and get completely stuck in, meaning that literally the only way to get back to the main screen is to force the app closed and try opening it again.

App is excellent but for one thing. This app is really pretty great. I would have given it 5 stars before today, but today when I went to fill up, it had randomly signed me out (it’s done this a few times. why?). I couldn’t remember my exact password but I was trying a few variations, when it suddenly said I’d exceeded password attempts and I was locked out for 24 hours. 24. hours. So there I stood, stranded with no gas in the tank, and no cash on hand to pay for any. I had to call my dad to wire me some so I wouldn’t be late for my appointment. My request is that you at least inform the user that their password attempts are being counted. I would have been more careful and used the Forgot Password earlier, and not have been stranded at a gas station.

Nothing works! -Resolved. Opened an account and everything worked for a few months. Now I can’t login to the mobile app or the website. I keep getting an error and to call the support number. No help either, they couldn’t figure it out. Finally I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and it just constantly crashes now. Wasted an hour trying to figure this out. Finally got everything up and running. Support had to delete my old account and open a new one. PITA! But glad it’s over and working.

No security features - beware!!. Beware if you are using this app! If anyone is able to login to your app they are able to pay using the credit cards that are saved in your app. ***There is no pin number required to pay with your credit card and there is no two factor authentication.*** Someone used my account and spent $150 on my credit card which was saved in the app at a gas station halfway across the country. Customer service is nonexistent and has no explanation for why or how this happened. They are also unable to give me any information about my account usage history other than completed purchases. This app is a disgrace especially because it is dealing with financial information. ETA: I’ve emailed and called the number in the developer response to no avail.

Great App...when it wants to work. I was so overly excited with this app when I was able to do contactless payment after pulling up to a pump or in a Mobil station. However, that has become an issue since the app refuses to open up. No matter how many times I delete it and add it back, it just won’t open up. All my other apps work but this one. To top it off, there is no one to contact for app support. I click on app support but it takes you to the website for login. Login in and nothing. I wish the developers would update the app to support IOS 13

App doesn’t work anymore- Please Fix!. Loved the app, when it worked...that was 3-4 months ago...I keep trying to log into the app and keep getting the same tired message, “Something Happened. An error occurred. Please try again later.” ‘Later’ has come and went for 3 months now...Major app disappointment coming from a powerhouse oil giant such as Exxon. This is very frustrating as I cannot use the app to pay for my gas or gain points! I am forced to use an alternate competitor “Shell” as a result and their app works fine....please get this issue resolved once and for all and stop auto-replying to customers reviews that the issue is resolved, when it is not and has not been resolved for months. Exxon you are better than this current application version 5.7.2 release...please fix the app once and for all!

Useless in MI, franchise owners not onboard. At first I was thrilled about the app, what a convenient way to pay for fuel. However here in Michigan most gas stations charge 5-10 cents more per gallon if paid at the pump with a credit card. The “cash” price is honoured if using a gift card or Exxon/Mobil credit card and in some cases via debit. The claim being for transaction fees, its really a scam so you go inside and buy the crap they sell. I got an Exxon/Mobil credit card expressly for this purpose, to be able to pay at the pump and not be charged extra for the privilege. When I use the app, the pump still shows and charges the extra 5-10 cents more per gallon price. When I asked the station clerk I was just told to “go inside and pay cash”. When I inquired with the smartapp Customer service I was told that franchise owners set their prices and premiums etc. Ok the perhaps you should send these owners placards touting the smart app with an “*” that other charges/fees may apply. Actually, they probably just need to reprogram their pumps to recognize the app as either a cash or an Exxon/Mobil transaction. So, for that purpose this app is useless to me and with the Plenti card discontinued I have no incentive to fill up at Exxon/Mobil gas stations or keep my Exxon/Mobil credit card.

Lost Ability to Pay With App. I have used the Exxon Mobile app twice a week for several years to purchase premium gasoline at a station 2 miles from my home and when I upgraded to the new app I lost the ability to see my station and pay for gasoline with the app. When I search for stations nearby, none show on the map and I am within 2 miles of a station. Before the upgrade, I would give the app 5 stars but since the upgrade I cannot use it anymore, therefore 1 star.

Nice when it works. This app is nice when it works. Makes it easy to locate Exxon Mobil stations and pay for fuel with Apple pay to get the 3% cash back. It’s hot or miss in my experience. I’ve been able to use it successfully maybe 50% of the time. Sometimes it will log you out and you will be unable to login again, it will just say try again later. Sometimes you’ll try to pay for fuel and it will tell you it’s not available, when you’ve used it previously at the same gas station. It’s a lot of hassle, I wish they just had the tap to use Apple Pay on the pumps, but I guess that’s a lot of money to upgrade pumps.

This app is somewhat glitchy. This app is somewhat glitchy.. I have this app on two mobile phones. It will work great on one of the phones. As soon as I use the other phone, however, the first phone totally quits and requires the app to be deleted, and then reinstalled. If I use it on that phone, the first phones app will quit completely, and requires deletion and then reinstallation. I sent this information to the mobile app developer, but never heard back. Other than the inconvenience of having to reload the app periodically as I change phones, it works extremely well. I will say that it is quite convenient when purchasing gasoline, and also finding a gas station when traveling.

Works well and I get discounts. Never bothered with Plenti points before (one more thing to keep track of), but once I got Plenti card into the app it does the rest and prompts me whether I want discounts. Only thing I have to be careful of is not picking up the pump handle to put into car until the app says the select grade of fuel. Sometimes I grab it while app still says “Authorizing” and then it gives an error. Now my habit is to use app in the car and then get out and grab handle, select grade. Works perfectly for me 95% of the time. No digging in pockets for keys/speedpass dongle, and integrated Plenti discounts (at my usual stations). So, big win for me.

Revert Back to the Old App Please!. This new update of the app is terrible! There is no longer a location finder on the home page, nor is there a “pay for fuel” feature on the home page. These two features were the best part of the previous version and they have both been eliminated with this update. There was a reason this app had a high rating in the past, so I don’t understand why it was decided to move away from the great functionality. I understand a cosmetic makeover with new branding, but the app is now slower than using an actual card to pay at the pump, as you have to sign-in multiple times and there are no longer useful home screen functions. Hopefully the negative feedback from this update will generate enough pressure to bring back the useable features.

Great app - one suggestion. This app has set the bar for apps of this sort. So convenient and quick - and more secure, thanks to not having to swipe a card at the pump. Thank you for bringing back the station finder function! One suggestion: offer a car wash-only option. I could pay at the car wash entrance but that requires swiping a credit card and I'm very concerned about skimmers. While I normally pay for a car wash when buying gas, sometimes it is either down or I don't have time for it just then. Having the ability to pay for just a car wash would be great.

It was great. I have been using this app for a couple years and never had a problem until recently. I went to fill up my car and noticed that the app took out 100 dollars along with the amount to fill the car up. It was pending in my account since last week. I went to fill up my car today and it took 100 on two separate transactions. So now I’m owed 300 dollars and I can’t even get in contact with customer service. In short I will no longer use this app. I will update soon to let you know if I receive my money back!

Used to be great, now can’t sign in often. I love this app when it works. Don’t have to get out of the car until the pump is ready. Get automatic receipt print out. Don’t have to put in my card for scammers using illegal swiper technology to steal my cc info. However, over the last month intermittently, it won’t let me sign in while I’m at the actual station. But when I arrive home, I can open the app with no problem. I’m using Face ID so it’s not because I forgot my password. It seems like it has something to do with your location. I tried turning off location services when this happens, but to no avail. I really wish there weren’t so many issues, because I recommend this app to everyone I know. Again, when it’s working, it’s fantastic.

Would be great.... The concept is great... A few major gripes: 1. “Network unavailable” happens too often... it’s not a cell carrier issue because all my other connectivity is fine. Can’t rely on the app and have to have backup payment available... sorta defeats the purpose. 2. It won’t allow multiple transactions at once... this got me when my wife and I met up while she was out with the kids and I tried to fill us both up. 3. When it is working I frequently have to wait for a long time for the app to “warm up”... like several minutes sitting at the pump in my car after clicking “pay for fuel”...

One request to make this the best. I refuse to get gas anywhere else strictly because I love love love the way to pay. I live in NJ and we don’t pump our own gas so I don’t even have to roll the window down let alone get out of the vehicle. One feature that is really needed is CarPlay integration. It would be amazing to not have to pull the phone out to search for the nearest station while driving. If it was on the CarPlay screen, we could just tap the app to find a station that is app enabled. Then only pull the phone out when we are stopped at the station to pay! The communications buttons were fixed! Thank you.

When it works, it’s pretty great. Really like the better piece of mind that comes with using this app to pay for gas than risk having my credit card compromised by a skimmer. The preauthorization for payment is a little slow but tolerable. However, getting the app message that it’s “currently unavailable at this site” all day — I returned 3 times to the same station near my house to fill up — was very disappointing. I understand sometimes there’s a system failure or maintenance window, but being down every time I tried at a station several times in a single day where it’s previously worked fine is really disappointing. On my final visit, I resorted going into the store, and their terminal at the register refused to work with Apple Pay too. 👎

sometimes doesn’t work. The app is great when it works but recently I am at the same gas station, I end up having to go inside to give credit card then email Exxon to provide proof of purchase to get rewards. Wish there was another way to get rewards and pay when app is not working. perhaps every exxon gas station provides free wifi on site in case connectivity issues play a role. if this continues, might as well go to other gas stations that are cheaper. when it’s no longer convenient, then there’s no point being loyal. fix the bugs or help find a solution to your customers.

Food for thought. Here I sit in my truck in Amarillo, Texas. It’s 25 degrees and 20mph winds. I live 400 miles away and Exxon froze my card?? I called said it was me and wasn’t fraud. They couldn’t/wouldn’t activate my card. They asked me to download this app and link my bank account. Well then their company hit my card so many times my bank then thought fraud and froze my account. It is Wednesday night before Thanksgiving and nothing is open tomorrow. I am stranded and have no way to get anywhere. Everyone is out of town. Can’t even get gas anywhere now as I said they caused my bank to freeze my debit card. All I get from Exxon is,”We understand.” No you don’t! If you understood it’d be fixed. So if you potentially wanna spend your Thanksgiving or an important event in an Exxon parking lot go ahead and use them.

Thieves. They do not give what they advertise. Signed up for Mobil Direct Debit+ Went to the pump supposed to get $ 0.10 off per gallon, the price was $4.25 per gallon for cash or debit ($4.35 /gallon for credit) the pump price changed to $4.15 / gallon and then went back up to $4.25 / gallon. I have receipts and photos documented. I will contact Head office and my lawyers about your false advertising. This is not the first time and you guys try to tell me last time some places don’t participate when it comes to using your Loyalty Card, but you lied. I found what you had to do is type in the number into the pump before using your debit card now you made it that you have to swipe the card you’ve never sent me. Your app and rewards program is a game and sham!

The update killed this app!!. Update 2: I was able to login by using a fake phone number and new PIN. It assigned me a new reward card number but all my history is intact. UPDATE: 9/28. It still doesn’t work after supposed fix. I’m about to switch to a new gas brand loyalty program. The old app worked perfectly. Now I can’t even use the app to pay for gas. It keeps saying similar account found!!! Try different information ... Duh! It’s me!!! It won’t let me login via the app even though I have no problem signing on online to pay my bill. So basically I cannot pay for gas the way I used to using my phone and I’m back to using physical cards. I cant use my rewards or check on how much rewards I have. I can’t see my receipts. So quaint, Exxon. Fire the dev team immediately!

Frustrating Setup. I found it completely frustrating trying to link my rewards card to the app. Apparently you have to create a profile for the app and then link your existing Exxon rewards card, which sound easier than they make it. I was asked for a PIN when trying to link my rewards card. After too many failed attempts it was blocked and asked to call customer service. I called and informed to visit the website. The website says my card is already registered. I try to login to the website using the profile I created for the app and told password/username doesn’t match. Now I’m locked out of the website and asked to call customer service again. Why is it not easier to link a rewards program to an app both created by the same company?!?

BEWARE FRAUD!!!!. This app seemed promising at first and it worked fine with no issues the first time. However, my second time using it was my last time ever! They lure you in with 10 cents off a gallon, but beware of their ploy to get your money. I just tried to pay for gas with ApplePay and it charged me $1 for some reason. So I went ahead and started pumping and it wouldn’t pump at all...it was as if it was never authorized. I left to go get gas at another gas station only to find out I can’t because THEY STOLE EVEYTHING I HAD ON MY CARD! So basically I paid for gas that I never got! I called customer service twice and I was told they couldn’t do anything...and one of them even hung up on me. Luckily my bank is willing to work with me. DON’T DO IT!! It’s not worth all that trouble for 10 cents off. They could have a major lawsuit on their hands...only a matter of time. Criminals!

Great!!!!!. This is great, it’s better to have this than the credit card they offer. I literally pull up to the gas pump and follow the prompts. I never have to take out my card and can do it fast. Then I earn points for the fill up. I have $28 of free gas on the app now that I let build up. When I was in nursing school it was great, got me $40 in free gas when I really needed it working and going to school. There were a few pumps that didn’t pick it up but majority of the time I always find one that works.

What's wrong with your update!?. I went to the gas station to purchase some gas. For safety I use the Apple Pay on the app to pay at the pump and also for the discounts. Now when I went to open the app, it demanded that I must update it or i couldn't use it until I did. I did the update and suddenly it didn't recognize me. If I tried to sign, it said that the app was used by another user (that's me!?) then if I tried to reset the password it said there was no account under that email. What did you do the app!? I am a woman and I drive for a living and most nights I have to get gas, the app is my safety mechanism for whether the station inside is closed or for pumping gas in suspicious neighborhoods. Please fix my sign in. I tried several times over a 45minute period until was forced to leave and go to a Shells gas station.

Do not update. The previous version i dare say was one of the most “simplistic” apps I have ever used. After the update, it is not as remotely streamlined as the old app. Harder to find items, my payments are glitchy; sometimes I can use the app to pay, other times it will give me an odd error not allowing me to pay with the app and I just end up paying regularly. thus, in the end I’m not able to collect points; not an inconvenience, but I do like to earn points. Either way, the old app worked terrific, didn’t necessitate a full on overhaul that followed suit with all the new apps coming online that are way over sophisticated for what we are trying to accomplish. Only chose to write this review because I cannot be the only person that has this opinion for the app.

Life saver. This app is so good and just saved me from an embarrassment. I was running on low and was in no where near of a gas station and then realized I forgot my wallet at home. Great! (Not really). I was going to pay with Apple Pay inside but it would not process for some reason so I had no way of paying for gas. One of the employees told me to download the app and I was able to fill my tank in a matter of just minutes! I love how it just automatically syncs and connected to me apply pay without me having to add a bank account or card manually.

Best app ever!. The app is very user friendly! I love how I can link my debit or credit card to my app and not have to pull out my card to pay for the gas! All the rewards are immediately available in your linked account on the app! All I have to do is open up my Exxon Mobile speed pass plus app and hit select my location, click which pump I’m using, enter in my pin and press the fuel grade even asks if you want to use a car wash! So easy! The gas is pumped extremely fast! I can view my receipts on my phone! Can’t say enough how much I love this app!

Don’t bother and avoid the headaches. I haven’t experienced this many bugs in a simple iOS app in a long time, and I’m talking about one error after another, and that’s just to make a simple payment for fuel at a designated Speedpass+ ExxonMobil station. It’s bad enough I can no longer use the Speedpass Key, which, in turn is actually a faster and more convenient method of payment at the pump. But after trying four different forms of payment to conform to the app (as requested), including linking Apple Pay as well, the app refuses to acknowledge any connection between Pay at the Pump and the app itself. Today makes it five different times consecutively that a payment will not be accepted to purchase gas. I’m convinced ExxonMobile is trying to tell us something. So, I’m going to listen. Your app developer just lost your business from me and my corporation.

Works at select gas stations. It seems you can only get this app to work for you in affluent areas. This goes for most of Nashville. I use to be able to use it at just one gas station near the airport BNA. I have been to Franklin and some other areas like it and it would work there too. But for about a month now the app doesn’t work at all. It doesn’t know your location so the message tells you to scan the barcode on the pump. Still no go. I use this mostly out of convenience so I won’t buy gas at Exxon or mobile because I have to go inside and wait in line. I’ll give this 5 stars if it ever becomes useful again. I haven’t deleted this app but I am getting ready to.

Good luck, you’ll need it.. I’d give it zero stars if that was actually an option. I haven’t been able to use this app since day one... I’ve called several, several times. Was given a ticket number with a promise of a call back. Never called back. Called them again, they lost my ticket! Started over, explained how all I wanted to do was add my debit card to my account so I could actually use the app, got a new ticket number... was told I’d here back in another five to ten days. Today is day 10 so I called once again (I’ve left out several calls bc same issue... not seeing anything wrong with my account blah blah blah). While on hold with the most annoying hold music (same shrill song every time) I’ve ever had to endure I’m writing this review. Guess what?! Get to wait for yet another call back!

Great App Again!. As a lifelong Mobil gas user, I’ve relied upon this app for years. With the recent version 5.15 update on IOS, the app no longer recognizes the 3 Mobile Stations within 3 miles of my home. I have a similar experience at my office location. Please fix the app Exxon/Mobil so we can get back to filling up at our favorite stations! I will update this review with 5-stars when you do. By the way, I’ve already called and e-mailed App Support, they verified there was nothing wrong with my account. Update: The app once again recognizes my home stations, life is good!

Frustrated. Why is it when apps are updated they become worse. The app worked perfectly fine it was convenient and easy to use. Them it updated last month and now there’s always a glitch. “Something went wrong” I used to be able to use my fingerprint to sign in now it won’t allow me to do so. Which makes it much more inconvenient and unsafe when I’m getting gas at night. The point was to have an easy transition to be able to pay before I get out the car pump the gas and get back in.

Makes transactions far too complicated. I’ve been a Speedpass user since probably the ‘90s. I get that the old Speedpass key tags are outdated technology, but this app method is just not an acceptable replacement. I just tried using it to pay for gas. I pull up to a pump. I open the app to discover that I was for some reason logged out of my account, and of course I can’t remember my password. I tap on “Forgot Password” and go to email to retrieve a temp password. Back to the app, I enter the temp password, set a new password, and log in. I look for the pump number and dial it in. It says the pump is authorized, so I open my gas cap, pick a grade, and try to start pumping. Apparently the pump lost the authorization. So I go back to the app and try again, only to get an error. I then give up and pull out the credit card from my wallet and end up paying the old fashioned way. So does anyone really believe all this hassle is worth it? Compared to pulling the old key tag out of my pocket, waving it in front of the sign, and pumping away? Unless ExxonMobil comes up with a better way (like just accepting Apple Pay at the pump), I will probably never use Speedpass again. I am the only one using my account, so that’s not what is making the app log me out.

Newest update broke the ability to pay. UPDATE: newest update fixed the pay at pump issue. However, the pump selector slider function is gone and you now have to type in the pump#. The pump# field is a double digit field but most pumps that are single digits are displayed on the pump as such. Ex: pump 1 is shown as 1. As a developer myself, this is confusing for users. Should they type “1” or “01”. A selector or drop-down would be better. Not sure why that would have changed. —————————————— Unable to mobile pay at any pump after newest update. Don’t fix what isn’t broke!!!!!

Oh Well!. Downloaded this app about 6 months ago. Did the setup, entered credit card and Apple Pay information. It worked maybe for half dozen “fill ups” at local Exxon station then quit working. Called app customer support and was informed there were issues with the app and a new version was on the way. Weeks passed and new version arrived and was installed but didn’t work. It displayed a message that there was a problem with the account. Strange since nothing had changed and I’d made no changes. Anyway, two weeks and 6 phone calls to app support and still doesn’t work despite being told things would be corrected by the customer service rep. I’m going to try one more time tomorrow to get it sorted out. If not able to get it working I’m going to free up some storage on my iPhone.

Worked the first time - now all errors. EDIT: After updating my phone (yes, this app updates QUICKLY after iOS update) the Exxon pumps started to work with the app again. Filled up 3 times over 10 gallons and got my $20 Plenti Rewards. Works just fine for multiple fuel ups. I rate this back up to 5 stars. ORIGINAL COMMENT: Worked perfect the first time using the app. Went back to the same gas station and the same pump I used before and I get an error that reads that I am unable to use Speedpass at this location. If it works ever again I'll re-rate but right now it gets 1 star from me.

Doesn’t work. Tried to use when I first downloaded this app and could not get it to recognize the station/pump I was at. Months ago and didn’t think about it for awhile. Today, at home, revisited the app and made sure all the information needed was loaded properly. Not easy. Not user friendly. But I had Apple credit card as the default payment so what could be easier? Right? Drove across the street (literally! What could be easier?) to the 7-11 with Exxon Mobil pumps, new store, just 1 year old. Recognized the app, station, address, pump and payment method and could not make the transaction happen. Got no credit for my transaction which was completed the old fashioned way, inserting my amex card in the slot and answering prompts. If the app doesn’t work, it’s just extra work and frustrating with rewards. I made the effort. FIX IT.

Continued Problems. I visited the station closest to my home again today and again the app did not work. Instead I received a message saying something happen please try again later. After several attempts and moving to another pump I tried to use my credit card and it rejected my Visa card as well asking me to go in and see the attendant neither of which spoke good English or understood what the app was. After complete frustration I drove 4 miles to another station where I had no problems whatsoever with the app. The station where I am having continued problems is the Exxon station on Berrscosa Way in Boca Raton, FL. Apparently the app just doesn’t work at that station although it did work very well for several weeks but no longer does.

A Whole New Level. I usually don’t write reviews for app..but...Great app...Had the app about a month. Went on vacation used the app the entire time. I get points for fueling & in store purchases. I was strictly sheets, but now on the Exxon team. Sheets dose t give points for refueling and I commute 80 miles round trip a day, so this is Great. It’s taken refueling your vehicle to a whole new level. You don’t have to get out just pull the app, which come up automatically, choose the tank and refuel. Now if someone was standing at the tank to refuel you it would be perfect.. lol. Great job thus far... innovative at its best...😎

Great app when it works. OK guys I just upgraded a bunch of different apps this morning yours included now this one’s not working. I’m at the pump I pull up the app I do my thumbprint and I get out and pump, now it keeps saying ‘’oops somethings wrong somethings wrong’ I sign in with Apple Pay I sign in with sign in and it’s not working and I’ve been sitting here 10 minutes. Complete bummer guys what happen this is why people cannot stand upgrades. I always brag about this app how quick and easy it is to use but I guess it’s conditional.

Only works Intermittently. I’ve been loyal to Exxon for 5 years but with gas prices at the highest they’ve ever been, I no longer have the luxury of allegiance to anything that doesn’t serve me financially. My app only works intermittently and while I can use my phone number at the pump to earn rewards, I can’t redeem any. I’ve moved over to Shell where my rewards are instant and this works better for me since I was only cashing in my Exxon rewards when I earned enough for a fill up and now that it costs me nearly $100 to fill up my tank — It would take forever to earn a full tank with your program. If not now, when fuel is at an all time high, when will your app truly be reliable?

Useless Application. this new app is totally crap I am using Mobil gas station to fill up the gas since long time because it’s very near from my house This new app Doesn’t work at the gas station also when you try to add debit card or Exxonmobile credit card it gives you an error (UH NO you have an issue with your account contact customer service from this app.) The customer service people do nothing for you Called 15 times and talked to them regarding this issue but they can’t resolve. Customer service people saying your account is on hold and will be unhold within 72 hours then you can add debit or credit card. I am listening this crap since six months I am done...they lost a genuine customer UNINSTALL the App DONE WITH EXXONMOBIL. Now I am using shell Gas station and their app is great.

VPN issue?. First of all I love(d) the app! I used it for all of my gas for both vehicles. Recently while on a trip I wasn’t able to log into the app. I was in the mountains and thought it might be a low signal issue. Once I got home I had the same issue. I tied deleting and reinstalling the app but still no luck. Since I was able to log in via an older phone (only works on WIFI) the only thing I can think that might be different is that I installed a VPN on the new phone. So until I find a solution, at this point, I’ll have to go back to my credit card.
