At DuckDuckGo, we believe the Internet shouldn't feel so creepy, and getting the privacy you deserve online should be as simple as closing the blinds.
Our app provides the privacy essentials you need to seamlessly take control of your personal information as you search and browse the web, no matter where the Internet takes you:
• Escape Advertising Tracker Networks — Our Privacy Protection will block all the hidden trackers we can find, exposing the major advertising networks tracking you over time, so that you can track who's trying to track you.
• Increase Encryption Protection — We force sites to use an encrypted connection where available, protecting your data from prying eyes, like ISPs.
• Search Privately — You share your most personal information with your search engine, like your financial, medical, and political questions. What you search for is your own business, which is why DuckDuckGo search doesn't track you. Ever.
• Decode Privacy Policies — We’ve partnered with Terms of Service Didn't Read to include their scores and labels of website terms of service and privacy policies, where available.
As you search and browse, the DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser shows you a Privacy Grade rating when you visit a website (A-F). This rating lets you see how protected you are at a glance, dig into the details to see who we caught trying to track you, and learn how we enhanced the underlying site's privacy measures. The Privacy Grade is scored automatically based on the prevalence of hidden tracker networks, encryption availability, and website privacy practices.
Our app provides standard browsing functionality including tabs, bookmarks, and autocomplete. In addition to strong Privacy Protection as described above, we also packed in some extra privacy features into the browser itself:
• Fire Button — Clear all your tabs and data with one tap.
• Application Lock — Secure the app with Touch ID or Face ID.
Too many people believe you simply can’t expect privacy on the Internet. We're fighting to change that, and have made it our mission to set a new standard of trust online. Install DuckDuckGo and take back your privacy!

This app is open source at https://github.com/duckduckgo/iOS.
The applications DuckDuckGo Privacy Browser was published in the category Utilities on 2013-06-27 and was developed by DuckDuckGo, Inc.. The file size is 21.93 MB. The current version is 7.7.1 and works well on 10.0 and high ios versions.
In this release we added share support allowing you to share text and links from other apps to open them in DuckDuckGo.
I know this app is a “search engine,” but it’s essentially a web browser for users such as myself. Since we use it as a web browser, the Share feature to share in group chat apps, email, messages, etc. was desperately needed. Now to add a “Open in DuckDuckGo” or “make default web browser” option. I refuse to use any other search engine or web browser and copying/pasting links from group chats in DuckDuckGo is a hassle. Thanks!
Update;6/20/18 ; Zero privacy using this app it is now being controlled by the CIA and deep state now they constantly restart your phone close your apps and everything else you must delete this app from your phone !!! Constantly crashes opens and closes itself is as if someone else is controlling it knocked me on my phone Like I said it was good until the net neutrality kicked in and now it’s total crap
This update will not download on any of my iPhones.
It would be nice to be able to open new tabs in the background
It won’t go to my *.ddns.net entry.
Free app that also gives you privacy and does not sell your information or track you. Thanks for bringing back the internet as it used to be
This is a solid app. It’s simple, easy to use, and the fire button closes all tabs (very useful!) When I tap the fire button the fire moves up and closes all tabs but it flashes a screenshot of the just closed tab after it completes. Imagine you’re burning a log in the fireplace and once it all turns to ash it pops back into existence and then it vanishes. Surreal. Other than that, great work!
The latest update adds some really nice features such as being able to clear tabs and data with one click, add bookmarks, etc. Performance with the new update is slower than the previous version for me. I updated to the most recent version of iOS and added a VPN app at the same time, so I'm not sure what is causing the slower performance. Update to my review - I just downloaded the newest version of Duck Duck Go, and performance is now back to normal. The developer resolved the performance issue in just a couple of days. I've upgraded my rating to 5 stars. DDG continues to get better with each update. However, I preferred the location of the search field in the middle of the screen rather than at the top.
The new interface is kind of like Firefox Focus — an app specializing in private browsing — but adds bookmarks and other ease-of-use features I really appreciate to the always awesome DDG search. I find myself using this app a lot. And the “clear all” animation is addictive. ;-) My wish list has just one item: An “Open in *background* tab” option on a long press so I don’t have to immediately go to the page overview and switch back to where I was just to open more tabs. This would be particularly useful on a news site, say, where you want to skim headlines and open interesting articles for later use. (I don’t want to “Add to reading list” and switch to Safari for this purpose — unless you’re telling me that Safari is as secure and private as DDG. Is it?)
So smooth and it does clear your data all the traces is gone.
Support DuckDuckGo. Lousy name: Great App!
But would like to see a reading view option like safari
I love DuckDuckGo but why is it rated 17+ for an search engine I mean shouldn’t it be rated 4+ for children because not everyone loves google I hate google because it can see your peso nel info and everything goes back to the google headquarters So please make it 4+
When compared to google or Firefox, But would like to see a much better designed user interface with transport (fwd/back/clear) at top of browser vs bottom of screen. Currently It’s all 0ver the place.
Looks great, except for one show stopper. I have a private wiki on https with my own self signed certificate. If I view the certificate I can tell quickly if it's been tampered with in transit and if it's the right one. But the duckduckgo app won't let me view the certificate so I can check it myself. The site appears blocked completely. Without this ability I won't be able to use this app.
Been happy with DDG for a long time on my iPad (4th gen)until support for that model stopped on the last update. Very disappointed.
I like the app, but it's a bit slow. Hence, I prefer to use the search engine in Safari, but it constantly prompts me to make it the default browser in Safari via settings, even thought I've already done it. Not even 'dismiss forever' gets rid of it, its back again the next search. Performs very well in Opera Coast however.
Love love love the concept of privacy and blocking trackers from search results. For some who feels squeamish about being tracked and as targeted on their every search, this is a great browser. I use the app though, and notice loading website's takes about 3-4 times the time as normal searches and browsing on safari does :(. Also, the refresh button is not a standalone visible button, but requires pressing the "..." Function to select refresh from a dropdown menu. The changing and upgrading of this would be awesome! Also not sure how DDG will survive the competitive ad market due to ad targeting only being for the current search while other search engines are doing more comprehensive tracking and gathering, but I hope they can! :)
Have usedDuckDuckGo for years and love it. I’m giving it four stars based on past experience . However I have just deleted the old app to load the new one and now it’s stuck. It’s almost downloaded but won’t finish. What to do?
Great app and love the new features/ redesign. But I miss the stories. I know that wasn’t what DDG is about but I still miss them all the same. A tab for them maybe? Or a separate app?
I love how this app aims to keep our web usage private. It’s so creepy when ads start showing up on various websites for something I searched for a few days ago. The website grading system is informative and seeing which trackers were blocked on each website is cool. It was particularly illuminating when I went to WebMD to research a medical issue and the app blocked 18 tracker networks. Wow! I have uncovered one issue, though. When I visit some websites, like The Verge for example, they seem to get stuck reloading. After a few seconds the page goes white and reloads several times. It may have started after I added the site to the whitelist.
Slow. It freezes up, won't allow you to type in fields, won't allow you to go back - if you try and close the app and come back, you may still be frozen. I'd love the additional security, but not at slow speed and not to freeze up...
I have always been a avid user of google. But recently with all that’s going on I have grown tired of how they do things with my privacy so I looked for a new alternative. It’s hard to trust anything that sounds to good to be true like this but I gave it a chance and I am happy I did I looked in to the creator and learned a lot. I have now replaced all my google apps on my iPad and phone with DuckDuckGo. Let’s just hope down the road we don’t hear that so and so was caught selling user information as some companies have. P.s I love the burn button a fun add on lol
There is only one downside to this app, it does not provide any way to search for a word in a web page which I use a lot. I would search to the app fully if it had this feature.
This organization would serve their purpose much better making a content filter app that works within Safari, rather than trying to entirely replace Safari. It works, and does what it says, but Safari just has too much extra functionality to use a different browser on iOS.
Great service that Duckduckgo is doing.
Awesome love it. Privacy at its best.
I recently switched over to using this as my main browser but it has trouble loading webpages. It will load it and start loading it again and again. Plz fix
How do you import them in your privacy browser on iOS?
Great app for using the app anonymously but when you search for something it may not accurately come up. overall amazing app, love it!
I love the app. Now I can safely do my banking transactions without having fear of the details been saved. The only thing is that viewing can be a bit blurry with scrolling about. But so far so good.
Useful app, works well
I came to find this app after I got fed up being tracked by google trying to sell me ads and collecting my information. Be it this app or the browser extension, the experience has been great and the latest update brings it in line with what you expect from other browsers.
Been using DDG pinned to home screen for a few months and more than satisfied. Enjoyed touches like the neutral default settings, surprisingly good stories and content on homepage
The page slides to one side, turns red and finishes the search without any effect. Rebooting the iPhone produces the same effect. Very disappointed in new app.
The new update crashes the minute you click on the app.
App crashes straight away. IOS 7...
App crashes immediately when opened. IOS 7.1.2
I find the app very good although It is annoying when I cannot remove recurring and unwanted site addresses on occasions without having to reboot iPad.
Why can't I change the theme,
Quick and better than Safari! And private!
Great content control. I hope that Apple do take it over as there own new Search Engine.
