Nightmare and Robbery. AVOID.. What an absolute nightmare. I can’t recommend this service less. When you pay for therapy here, you get “credits” for sessions (45 minutes by the way) and these credits EXPIRE. So you can liable to pay for therapy and then LOSE ACCESS TO THERAPY YOU PAID FOR. This is exactly what happened to me. They took a month to get me a therapist, but told me I could change easily to a new one if I didn’t like mine. By the time I had my first session, all of my 3 other credits for the month were set to expire in a week. So I had no option but to schedule them with this therapist who I didn’t like or else I’d lose the sessions I paid for. This therapist showed up late to multiple of my sessions, and took a nearly 10 minute phone call during one of our short 45 minutes of therapy. By the time that happened, I tried to change therapists and talkspace said they’d get me a new therapist soon. It’s been over a month and a half and I’ve heard nothing. In that time, 3 of my credits expired so I’m out hundreds of dollars of money that has been essentially stolen from me from this absolutely garbage company. You should be ashamed of yourselves for running such a shady company that is allegedly trying to help people but is really just extorting them and not offering the service you promised (being able to actually get a new therapist if you don’t like them). I’d give negative stars if I could.

Great therapist, bad platform. I have been using this app for years, but over the past few months, I’ve had no end of grief trying to get messages through. I can post repeatedly for days all the while being told the messages are being delivered, when in reality they’re often lost or delayed for days to weeks. The same happens from the therapist’s end. We have brought this to the attention of tech support numerous times, and they had no lasting workable solution. At this point, I can no longer get any messages through to tech support either. Fortunately, this is no more than an inconvenience for me, but a bug like this could be downright dangerous for some clients and needs to be taken more seriously. The only thing on this platform that works consistently is the system that charges my credit card monthly.

Horrible unprofessional experience. I needed help from a psychiatrist and tried Talkspace. The initial matching agent lady was very nice and did her best to help me. However, once I started the matching process, it went downhill from there. First of all, all of the matches were the opposite gender from what I requested. I wrote back and was told that these were the only ones available, so I decided to try one. I finally chose the one who had the soonest appointment available, but the therapist never confirmed my appointment, and it was cancelled. I tried again to find an appointment that was sooner, and I was told by another matching agent that I had scrolled through all of the available doctors. I have since canceled the service and requested a refund. After the refund, the 2nd matching agent messaged me back in a weird tone asking how I ever had an appointment to start with since I had no credits on my account. Unprofessional and not at all helpful. Seek a different service.

Bad Support, Extremely Overpriced. I won’t completely diminish Talkspace because I found an incredible therapist that has been heaven sent in helping me work on my mental health. However, Talkspace support is absolutely terrible. The only way to reach support is via email, and responses are never returned in a timely manner. Based off my own experiences, I have had to wait at least a week or two for a response from support. Within the app, there’s also all these glitches, so during times I took a break from talkspace, I had to be re-matched to my provider all over again each time only delaying when I can start as a result. Additionally, the pricing for the services even on the most basic plan are outrageous. I recently got a new insurance that I selected specifically because it is accepted by talkspace and I wanted to keep my therapist since she’s been amazing. Only to find out that even with a strong health care plan, I won’t be saving any money as it appears Talkspace has now nearly doubled their fees on even the most basic of services. For the most basic plan and having comprehensive insurance coverage, I am looking at nearly $350 per month which is double what I used to pay. Do better Talkspace. Stop overcharging especially when you can’t even provide the customer service support or full-scale of services to charge such a high price

Needs to improve their vetting process. Very disappointing. I was randomly matched with a therapist who initially seemed ok, but the more we met the more I realized I learned more about her than she ever learned about me. She asked no probing questions outside of “how are you?” “How’s work” and then gave lackluster advice and guidance. It was also clear that she was trying to rush me off the phone. 20 minutes into a 45 minute session where she spoke the majority of the time about her having COVID she said, “ok well if you don’t have anything else we can go”. I ended up canceling the remaining sessions I had even though I already paid. This is my first experience with therapy so I thought it was just me but I found a new therapist outside of the app who is night and day different. It feels like TalkSpace is taking advantage of people in distress by taking money for sessions with therapists who are either not qualified or just don’t care enough to try. Very disappointing. I would suggest you find a local therapist or use psychology today. Don’t waste your money on this service.

Issues with audio/feedback - taking away from the overall session and successful therapy. The past few weeks have been increasingly disappointing. I am in a good place in terms of my relationship with my therapist and our goals etc - but our time together during live sessions is being negatively impacted by issues with the audio where when I talk, it echoes/repeats through my speaker everything I said as if I were saying it twice in a row row your boat fashion. My therapist has reached out to support as it is not an issue only I am having and she has other clients too that are struggling with it and can’t make it through their sessions, but she is not receiving support other than being given suggestions to restart/reinstall type troubleshooting, all of which we have both already tried more than once. I really hope this gets fixed soon - as it is becoming a serious hinderance to the progress and focus during sessions and makes me not want to continue even at times because its too much.

No staff available for even initial assessment. 0 STARS! DO NOT USE THIS APP!TalkSpace requires a $199 charge to set up the app and schedule an appointment. The staff they advertise is obviously not even a real person. My initial evaluation for the $199 was rescheduled twice with less than 24 hours notice when their cancellation policy requires 48 hours if we need to reschedule with them. I only received one email back from “Amber” with no phone number or contact information and have not heard back regarding my refund request. I have reached out to the psychologist “Judith” that never confirmed either of the 2 appointments I scheduled with her and never responded to my message regarding this issue. Talk space is HORRIBLE! AGAIN DO NOT USE THIS APP. TalkSpace respond to my message ASAP and refund my $199 to my card and confirm no further charges will be on my account. This company is a scam and so unprofessional they should be ashamed for trying to scam individuals struggling with mental health. Shame on you!

Awful services. My husband used the service previously which offered significantly longer sessions and the ability to pick your therapist immediately. If you check other reviews, they also state a longer session time than what is currently offered. Right now it is $400 for 4 30 min sessions that must be used within a 30 day period. This starts immediately, whether or not you even have an appointment with a therapist. I do not blame my therapist, he is fantastic, however he was on vacation for a week and we had scheduling issues for the first week, meaning I have to crunch the rest of the sessions in a short time frame. I didn’t realize the credits would result in me paying an exorbitant amount for something I didn’t even receive. They immediately match you with a therapist now. They strongly discourage you from switching from that therapist even if they are a bad fit. They make you rate the therapist even if you have never had a session just to try to get a new one and even then, they only let you choose out of three before repeating the cycle. I was looking for a very specific specialty due to the nature of my condition and having to fight against the app just to find someone suitable is ridiculous. I already know I am not renewing. I am upset that I was tricked into wasting my time and money. I reopened my trauma for a service I know I won’t use again. TalkSpace causes more frustration and heartache than it ever helped me. Avoid at all costs!

Confusing. I had high hopes for this apps many features, but before I could even start, I experienced a slew of issues. I found a therapist in my network through research, on Psychology Today. I signed up for an appointment with her and she told me she does her billing through Talkspace. At first, the link my therapist sent me to connect was broken. Once we were able to finally connect on the app, I went through and signed up. Then when I came back to our chat, we couldn’t even talk, she couldn’t find me and vice versa. I had to reach back out to her via email. We had hoped to get in touch with customer support on both ends but neither of us could. Shortly thereafter, I was charged $300 and matched with a totally random therapist. I even sent the person I matched with a message explaining the debacle and she apologized on behalf of the app. I was told that once I entered my insurance and card info, I would be charged copay following actual services. I reached out to customer support for a refund and have not heard back. I really cannot afford this kind of mistake and it’s having adverse effects on my mental health rather than simplifying a system that could help. I am disappointed.

Used to be helpful... When I first joined TalkSpace a few years back, it did wonders. I felt that that therapists genuinely cared, weren’t overbooked, and I received responses quickly. I assume in combination with the pandemic and the fact that every single podcast ever is adventuring Talkspace, it’s become incredibly over crowded, therapists are too busy (I got tossed around so many times, after not even speaking to them but receiving a message that they could not accept any more patients). I got increasingly frustrated with this and eventually deleted the app. I wanted to come back, and kept trying, but my therapists I was matched to were not helpful but instead send me paragraphs of “what to know” for well over a week before I could even tell them what I needed help with. I kept trying to be re matched but continued to encounter the same issue. Finally was matched with someone great, but she kept going on vacation! It got to the point tonight where I was just done. I’m considering paying $200 a week again for therapy, but at least it’ll be more help than this app.

My therapist is great, the app is terrible. My therapist LuGina “Gina” is kind and insightful, but the app failed during our life audio session multiple times on both ends. This was my first session and it was upsetting to discuss past traumas and then notice that my therapist didn’t hear a word stated. My phone connection was on Wi-Fi and adequate to remain connected. My therapists’ connection was also adequate, but the session dropped on her end as well. Gina mentioned that her calls regularly drop and that Talkspace is often dropping client’s calls. Unfortunately, we had to end our live session after 10 minutes and switch to a messaging session which was a less detailed approach. To add to the negative experience, I had a psychotherapy session earlier this week and the video call dropped as well. The psychotherapist, Bob also mentioned that video calls often fail and he had to mute the audio and and call me separately for audio. Overall, Talkspace should consider investing in a new app.

Highly Unresponsive and unreliable. I have been dealing with postpartum rage and anxiety. I was going through a particular rough patch and was advised to find a therapist for treatment. I have twin babies and unable to get out the house so I decided to take the online route. On November 10th I spoke with Ivanna at Talkspace that recommended I work with a therapist that specializes in maternal mental health. I was then able to find a recommended therapist named Denise Davis-Moore. I was advised Denise would respond to my message or reach out to me within 24 hours. 10 days past and I never got a response from Denise. I had also scheduled my first live online session roughly a week out and Denise never confirmed and ended up missing the session all together. I then reached out to customer support asking for a refund and they too were unresponsive. They didn’t respond until I reached out again asking for a reply to my original question. I have finally received my refund but I must say I’m highly disappointed and dissatisfied with their service altogether.

Terrible. If you are looking for actual therapy with a form of solution and helpful advise then this app is not for you. I was matched with a “therapist” and it was probably the most unhelpful experience I’ve ever had. The therapist was clearly not paying attention to me as I spoke. I was speaking on what was bothering me and then he would chime in with an “ ummmm “ as if he was searching for what to say and then would follow up with something completely unrelated to what I spoke about. After about 45 minutes of me talking about myself I asked the therapist if he had any feedback or homework to provide and his response was no, that talk space for for me to simply talk and find the power of healing just through talking and the therapist solely listening. I was charged $131 to just talk? I can do that for free with friends and family. I was hoping for more feedback, homework, anything really. You can talk all you want but if someone doesn’t actually help you find the source of what is bothering you then whats the purpose of talking? I am absolutely disappointed and have since then found a therapist THAT ACTUALLY HELPS ME DISCOVER THE SOURCE OF MY PROBLEMS. This was a waste of my money, a waste of an hour of my time and I do not recommend unless you’re looking for someone to just listen to you. But again, you can do that FOR FREE with friends.

I wish I could give zero stars. They aren’t transparent about their billing. I am getting charges from October and it is now February even though I had insurance that I was told “fully covered” my plan, all of these charges started rolling in when I got new insurance in January and tried to update my account. Not only that, my therapist and I met on a biweekly basis and the person who emailed me insisted their “system” shows me meeting weekly, which was simply NOT true. I can’t believe an app like this exists with this many issues. The user experience is absolutely terrible and you can’t even delete your own account? Anyway, I refuse to pay these bills I am getting until I can SPEAK to someone on the phone. Don’t you dare tell me to send another email. I had MULTIPLE open customer service tickets that went unanswered for weeks. But they had no problem sending me billing messages. Once I finally got a response I told them to remove my credit card information from their system and to close my account. I will make a point to tell anyone considering this app to not use it. You all are preying on people seeking help with your shady billing processes.

A few critical issues. I will start by saying that I have been with my therapist and talkspace for years now but there are a number of issues: the biggest one being, insurance being out of network but there’s no notification of that. I just recently discovered that my insurance is OON and I had no idea until Talkspace requested payments and i checked my insurance portal. This is a HUGE deal when it comes to treatment. I, myself work in healthcare as a utilization reviewer that works to get prior authorizations so I know the urgency of ensuring not only are patients covered but that it’s communicated when they are not. When you’re doing messaging sessions weekly which are being billed for and you don’t know that they’re not covered then that only increases the need for therapy…. An alert notification in app would help to notify patients when their benefit information has changed or a phone call. Next, the glitches are pretty annoying. Having to restart the app essentially when it freezes and now with upgrading to a new phone it does not want to open with my FaceId then it just keeps trying to open itself and I have to swipe out of it, move my face away, and enter my passcode instead. I’ll have to see if I can turn off the FaceID to just use my passcode. I love my therapist and don’t intend to leave her but this insurance issue is a big issue for me.

Not ready for giving care through text. =(. I was excited about this app because it has the chat feature so you and a therapist can communicate through text. This is a main feature if Talkspace. The two therapists I tried weren’t ready for giving care this way. Both had been counselors before they joined talk space, so maybe they were used to doing hour long therapy sessions rather than texting. The first therapist didn’t even answer me on chat, just told me we would talk about it in the appointment which I didn’t want to do, and the second one got short with me and seemed frustrated when I expressed my desire to use the texting feature. I just need someone to ask me questions to help me figure out what’s going on in my mind and then help me learn how to heal it. This is definitely doable with a chat feature. I am able to communicate much more honestly and learn way better this way. Maybe the therapists will get more used to this kind of communication. For now I recommend Noom’s Healthy Mind program if you’re like me and need to be able to text. They have coaches who know how to give care through text and so have been much more responsive and helpful in the chat.

Would give -5 if I could. Don’t waste your time, money, or energy here. They will not help you or give you any counseling. Biggest scam ever. I never leave reviews but I was so excited about trying this. I have desperately needed help just to be let down by this scam of a company. In a time where finding therapy is almost impossible, I saw this as my last hope. The therapists and counselors either don’t reply or if they do answer, they don’t help you at all. I know this is an angry review but I am so disappointed at this massive waste of money and hope. Just go to better help, as that’s where I’m taking my business! Also, the glitches on the app/ website will make you need even more therapy because it will drive you insane. Every time I try to do anything on the app it asks for the emergency contact info I already submitted 50 times. Overall, there is 0 worth to this app, don’t do it

Predatory billing methods!. Talkspace gives you the option of texting through the week as a session, or having a one to one 45-minute session. However Talkspace does not differentiate between messages about the mechanics of the sessions and actual therapy messages. So when your therapist messages you to do an assessment before your session, that counts as texting. When your therapist sends you a bunch of handouts or files, that counts as a session. In my case, I was authorized 5 sessions through my EAP, and was billed for two sessions for each of the two weeks, and then even though the therapist could see I still had another session, all of my future appointments were cancelled. My only recourse was to send an email, which I was told had a typical response time of 4-6 weeks. I’ve filed a formal complaint with the EAP and my HR, as it’s their money that is being wasted. I wouldn’t recommend anyone use this provider until they can stop their predatory billing practices.

Extremely disappointed. I was initially matched with a therapist that specialized in a subject that I had no issues with nor did I specify I had issues with. I had to accept in order to try to change therapists, only one of which was female (which is what I wanted) so I had to accept that.. but I felt like I wished I had more choices to pick from. My therapist was nice. Very generic though, and didn’t know how to use the platform. Promised to email me something and never did. Red flags raised when she cancelled our second appointment together but we rescheduled in the same week. I really wanted routine and continuity… and I didn’t want to switch providers at this point after already going through a really tough first appointment. So I stuck with the same provider. Fast forward, she cancelled our 4th appointment, rescheduled it for two days later, then I waited on video and she never showed up and didn’t message til the next day with a pretty tepid sorry. I called (to no avail) and emailed Talkspace to share this and show my disappointment and yes I got a refund, but no apology for being treated as unimportant or uncared for. Talkspace was my therapist’s side gig so clearly not as important as her full time job which is fine if that’s ok with you. But it took its toll on me. Will not continue. To add insult to injury, the app is not very user friendly.

Very disappointed. So far I’ve worked with two different therapists. The first one no-showed for my 10-minute assessment and then canceled two subsequent sessions when I only get one per month. I missed out on my 30-minute session. Then I switched to another therapist who was again late for our 10-minute call and only showed up after I sent a message asking if we were still on for that day. Now I’ve just been no-showed on my 30-minute session despite her confirming early in the week that we had a call scheduled. I’ve been on this app for almost 2 months and haven’t even had a full appointment. Both therapists were very nice but apparently they all neglect to show up for sessions on time/at all. I haven’t really gotten any messages from my therapists either so I’ve gotten nothing out of the experience except time wasted waiting for appointments to happen. Completely unprofessional and extremely disappointed

$400 for 5 Text Responses/week. I’ve never done traditional therapy, but wanted to give this a try because the idea of being able to express my thoughts at anytime seemed appealing. I understood the therapist would only respond when they are working, but my experience amounted to me getting a one 30 secondish sound bite from my therapist a day. I think the concept is really cool, if it worked as intended, it would actually make therapy a lot easier for people especially those who are thinking about trying it out for the first time! But the price is pretty ridiculous to just get 1 response/day - 4x a week. Oh and I spent half of my first subscription matching because my first therapist never responded back, after I poured my heart out answering her “get to know me” questions. My advice is you can reach the same type of help you would get from Talkspace just by journaling, but if you really need help, find the time to go to a therapist. It’s actually cheaper too.. Again, great concept. Maybe some day when therapist are hired for this platform specifically and can actually deliver support rather than IG like comments on your thoughts.

Exceptional Online Platform. Fantastic online therapy platform that accepts my insurance! I was paired with a phenomenal therapist! SO grateful to have found “my person” right off the bat! Talkspace app is super easy to navigate. Registration was a breeze, and booking & joining a session are easy-peasy. 1-hour live sessions work best for me personally. However, I like knowing I can message my therapist, if needed, in between sessions. Prior to our first session we messaged, and she always responded in a most timely manner. Even during my first session, I felt heard and understood. So far, I’ve had 3 sessions in which I’ve received awesome feedback and support. I have been given very useful tools to help me overcome my barriers to having a happy & fulfilling life. I’m thankful Talkspace is helping me along journey to becoming a better me!

Poor user interface.. This app has a lot of flaws in the user experience design. It does not allow you to move backwards through questionnaires. The survey for looking for a therapist is so limited and you get locked into a provider without at least getting a handful of providers you can choose from. It also locks you into a single problem when I know a lot of people who are struggling most likely have many issues they want to address. In this app you are either stressed, grieving, or depressed. Developers should allow the user to move back and forth and re take surveys for a better customer experience. You should also be allowed to at least preview therapists before scheduling an appointment. That way you can select a provider who specializes in the different areas you need help with. Overall, seeking a therapist is already an overwhelming experience and this made an already difficult task more challenging. For anyone who needs urgent help, I recommend trying other apps.

Bad therapists, no choices. I was really hopeful about this app. I truly was struggling with anxiety, but unfortunately I have a couple of problems with the app and my experience while on the app. I wanted to find a provider who I felt was a good match for me but it seemed like the selection was pretty limited. Just an idea, but it would be really awesome if there was a filter about somethings you are looking for in a counselor. Also the counselor I had was just really not a good fit. I had to keep telling her/reminding her to send me the coping skills, examples of how to set boundaries, etc. She was always at least a couple mins late to every session and would leave early. The next counselor I signed up for never confirmed my appointment. I was really hopeful but very disappointed in your app. I know that not every counselor will be a good fit, and no app is perfect, but I just wanted to let you guys know what my experience was. I really hope that my experience was a rare occurrence.

they don’t care about your mental health, they want $$$. I tried this app, they just want your money. I can’t even speak to my therapist because I don’t have enough money. The reason why I tried this out is because I have weird work hours and a regular sit down in an office therapist would not be ideal for me. The therapist was nice but she was basically like a friend that you rant to and she responded in a two min voice memo with worksheets. I do not have time for those. I asked customer support if they could refund me my $200 since I did not benefit anything from this app, the service is not what I paid for. They said they’d refund $90 so I was fine with that. They never responded/issued my refund. I kept responding in the same ticket about my refund, no response. I created a new ticket and they closed it without even a response. This is the worst thing ya’ll could do to someone that is going through depression/anxiety/ptsd etc.

Not what you expect out of therapy. After doing TalkSpace last year, I keep thinking about therapy and how I’ll probably likely never do it again after my experience with these guys. After a few sessions, I got told that this isn’t really supposed to be a chat app, but more of a way for me to be told some helpful things to do everyday that might make me more “balanced” and “happy”. Basically I didn’t feel like I could actually get anything off my chest or speak about a bad day because all my therapist would do was send me daily tasks like write what makes me thankful. I think those things are important to incorporate, but it just made me more upset. I stopped responding after maybe a week of this and lost out on my money because I paid for a month of service. The intent behind the app is good what with being anxious and not wanting to go into talk to someone, but I just had a really bad experience.

Disappointed. I was matched with a therapist that was not specialized in the subjects in which I had specified and was not the gender I had selected either. I had to accept the match in order to change providers. To change providers, you must rate your current one - even if you haven’t had a session with them. Upon getting to the screen to select a new provider, I received the message, “ Due to high demand, we're not currently able to match you with a provider.” and was told to try again in a few days. I reached out to customer support who replied within the hour asking my therapist gender preference, what specializations I was looking for and my state of residence. I replied with all the answers and customer support replied with, “Can you please answer the questions on my previous email so we can match you with a provider that meets your needs?”. When canceling your subscription the options listed as to why you canceling are provider based, “I feel better”, or “technical difficulties” with no option for “other” additional feedback. I was having great success with BetterHelp but decided to give TalkSpace a try because my employer covered the cost. I was really hoping for success here but instead just really disappointed in the whole process.

I would give it “0 stars” if that were an option. My experience mirrors that of many other dissatisfied users. I received one month of unlimited messaging therapy as a gift. For over a week I checked my account and contacted customer service to see if my gift card had been applied to my account, as it did not show that on the app. Finally someone told me that it had been. At this point I’ve wasted almost two weeks. Their providers are also slow to respond and when they do, the responses seem scripted or canned. I switched providers after my first counselor only had me fill out questionnaires only to receive no feedback or fill me in on what was happening. The second counselor seemed promising & after sending her a detailed message (at her request), she finally replied that she had resigned from Talkspace and they would match me with someone else. That was over two weeks ago and the matching agent has ghosted me too. If I had not received this as a gift, I would be more irritated because it’s expensive if you have to pay out-of-pocket. My month will expire soon and so far this app has been no help. I would even say their model seems predatory on people in vulnerable situations.

If canceling gets special points is a good thing. My fiancé has had to connect with more than 5 therapist. The first one barely wanted to get on camera. Never would respond to messages. Since we signed up for a new therapist each one would cancel before the first session. One counselor refused to even meet as he missing his fist meeting (because there are no reminders in the app). We shared that life has been crazy and we paid the $150 no show and she scolded him about wasting her time and she would not like to move forward. He has almost no desire to keep trying and I don't blame him. I'm a disabled vet and I thought the VA mental health department was bad but this company tops it! It's been since May of 2022 and everyone we have booked cancels the day off or days before and it's really discouraging to keep pushing him to try. If someone is battling depression you all aren't doing a great job at making the clients feel you are there too help. Next month would be a year and not once has he been able to really connect with a provider at all.

Absolutely a Nightmare. I got Talkspace via a recommendation from one of my friends who uses it because our insurance company was suppose to cover it. After getting matched with the most useless therapist I’ve ever met in my whole life and several unsuccessful attempts to be matched with a new one, I decided to cancel my plan. After which, the co-pay that was suppose to be NOTHING started being pulled out of my account. It was only ten dollars, so while I was annoyed, I figured it was whatever and moved on, figuring I’d pay for the two useless sessions I had and move on. Unfortunately, I had some issues with my card and had to change payment methods. So, for the last MONTH I’ve been getting emails saying that my payment keeps failing despite the fact that I’ve updated my card information three times. Ive been in touch with the ONLY method of customer support which is EMAIL and not at all effective, because all I’ve been told in the month that this has been going on is “I’ve forwarded your problem to the right people and we’ll get it looked at” while I continue to receive stressful payment failed emails. This whole thing is a nightmare for only ten dollars and I wish I had never even tried Talkspace to begin with.

Unresponsive - No Therapists?. I don’t normally leave reviews, but for this I just had to. I signed up with this a while back, probably about a month and a half ago. At first, I was speaking to the person who matches you to a therapist, they were responsive and helpful. then, as soon as i chose a plan, the marcher no longer responded to me. Then the waiting began. After about 2 weeks of not being matched STILL, I was concerned I was paying 300 dollars for nothing, so i reached out to their customer service. They advised me sometimes it can take a little bit to find a good therapist match for you. I am a patient person, so i thanked them for reassuring me, and continued to wait. it has now been 3 and a half additional weeks, still 0 contact from any therapists. I think if this app wants to truly work, they need way more therapists so people can get the help they need. i tried to do this virtually (therapy) as it works better for my schedule, but now i’m going to have to find something in person, as i can’t seem to be matched online. How unfortunate.

Not as Convenient as it claims. I initially thought this would work for me but as others have said, it takes a long time to get a response back from your therapist. I’ve been using the app for a few days but so far my therapist responds every other day about every. That’s not really effective or helpful since it drags out what you want to talk to them about instead of one effective conversation for that day. I spend more time waiting for a response than actually talking through issues. Also, if I’ve thoughtfully typed out paragraphs explaining what brought me here, it’d be nice to get a more in-depth response to what I actually wrote rather than “sounds like you’re going through a stressful time” maybe a sentence or two after that, then maybe one or two questions that don’t go one direction or the other. This app is too expensive for the level of support that is provided. I’m sure it helps some that don’t mind talking through issues here and there but it’s not consistent.

Disappointed. I never write reviews but felt the need to express my frustration. First appointment with therapist great, mind you this is my first time in therapy, second meeting she’s late and often talks about the other platforms she is working with as well. I’m sorry this is my time I want to ensure I got the appropriate time to review my problems. Third visit, just received a new mental health DX and I knots talking to another healthcare professional would help me answer some questions. 15 minutes go by nothing. No message from her at all. She explains the struggles she is going through, 100% support that and understand we all have a lot of carp going on but it just goes to show why people give up and feel lost because practices close, therapist leave or just don’t show. Very disappointed with the level of unprofessionalism and the lack of I’ll regard to not even checking in or send a message. Silence is the deadliest to a mind who is always constantly thinking and therefore you spin further down.

NOT SAFE! Please do not use!!!. I paid hundreds of dollars just for my psychiatrist to meet with me once and then to never respond to me again, despite my many attempts to contact her. She prescribed me new medication and then never once followed up on it, which was incredibly unprofessional and unsafe. I then emailed TalkSpace support, who informed me that I couldn’t get a refund, but I could get rematched and spend more money to have another initial appointment. This whole experience took about 3 or 4 months of my time that could’ve been spent getting better. I already have a hard time asking for help, and this only added frustration and exhaustion. Don’t waste your money or your time! UPDATE: As you can see, Talkspace responded to this review. Don’t be fooled—nothing was done after this response; it’s all for show. Many months later, I was finally able to find a psychiatrist who was committed to helping me. Upon telling her about my experience with Talkspace, she was very concerned and told me that this was extremely unsafe and could’ve been so much worse if I was in a worse place mentally. I was also misdiagnosed and given very incorrect medication, which negatively impacted my life. Please please don’t jeopardize your mental health. For an app that specializes in mental health, this is unacceptable. I am so worried for others who get tricked into using this app. This is not a safe app to use.

Only do it if your employer sponsors it. This app is a joke. I’ve never had any issues when my employer was paying for the membership. I no longer work for said employer, and I decided to input my insurance information to continue using this platform. It said that I had an available 45 minute session credit, but yet my provider still billed my insurance. I had to jump through hoops (DMing them on Twitter and emailing them) for Joanna to break it down to me that a “credit” is not a credit. Why would you call it a credit to mislead people? My therapist’s approach also wasn’t worth the price — I’d tell her what I’m going through, and she’d be like “that’s a lot to take in, how are you taking care of yourself?” If I knew the answers, I wouldn’t be in therapy. I refer my partner to this app, it says we both get $200, and yet my partner keeps getting billed even though they only booked 1 free 10 minute session and cancelled the other appointment. Talkspace also never said that the $200 would be paid out in credits until I emailed Joanna, and she said there was no other way for them to pay me my referral money besides credits. This is an absolute joke — run away from this. It’s not worth your time, there’s too much false advertisement and lack of accountability.

Excellent idea, horrendous execution. I have been actively trying to get matched with a therapist for over a month and continue to be ping ponged around in their broken systems. Talkspace’s process is riddled with problems and promises features that it fails to deliver. From IT issues to incompetent customer support representatives that give you the runaround this ordeal has been taxing at best. The “provider match service” only provides you one option and when you try to book an appointment it loops you through an infinite sign in process. Many people struggle with mustering the energy to seek mental health services. Their broken system adds additional frustration and mental fatigue. My work provides me a series of free sessions but I ended up signing up with Alma instead. With Alma I was able to contact a provider within 24 hours. Let me re-state that— even with FREE SESSIONS Talkspace’s system is so broken that I am choosing to go to another service and pay for a provider. I could not imagine how furious I would be if I had to pay to get this runaround. If you have struggled to seek mental health care and you are taking that first step to find a provider: It is so hard to seek help and I am so proud of you for trying to navigate this. Please seek another service so you won’t be discouraged from seeking help. This runaround is not normal.

Great idea. Bad execution.. The idea behind this app and others like it, is truly great. But the execution is awful and not well thought out. If I’m needing to speak with my therapist, hearing back once a day really isn’t helping me resolve anything. Example: I’ll message my therapist at 9AM with whatever I’d like to discuss. She will reply to me minutes before midnight. And that’s been my entire experience with TalkSpace. And usually she replies with just small talk, like “How was your weekend?” It’s not very beneficial to one’s mental health to get 1 reply a day (if you’re even lucky to get one. I’ve gone 2 weeks with no reply from my provider). Having gone to traditional face to face therapy and now having tried this for a few months, I prefer traditional therapy where I have an hour of undisturbed time with my therapist. Again, the idea behind this is wonderful; but the execution is horrid. If I wasn’t provided this platform through my insurance carrier free of charge to me, I would definitely ask for an immediate refund. In my opinion, don’t pay for this app. It’s like running in circles and getting nowhere. Try traditional therapy where you’ll actually see the benefits.

Look Elsewhere. Finding a provider is really hard and overwhelming, and can take a lot of time. When I saw the promises made by this app I had some hope to be matched and start talking to someone (honestly anyone). They said it would be 48 hours to be matched with a provider….it took closer to 72, but that’s okay because they sent an email saying they were busier than normal after I signed up. That’s forgivable because FINALLY I have a match! …silence, so I initiated the conversation and then several hours later got a generic response on how the app works and “tell me why you are here, I am logging off today but I’ll respond tomorrow”. Great, so I give my background. That was 3 business days ago, (and a weekend) and I have messaged every day and still no response. I also started a ticket with support asking if there is something I am supposed to do for a response, that was 2 business days ago with no response. Very disappointed. Please avoid if you need help.

You have to use all live sessions within the month. The live sessions do not roll over to the next month. This service was beneficial to me and helped me. But I feel robbed because it wasn’t clear to me how many sessions I had. I have a busy life and I lost track in the month how many I had and used. So over the three months I had it I probably missed out on at least two sessions. There is no accounting of live sessions bought or sessions booked in the app. The app does not tell you any message like, “you have 2 of 4 live sessions available”. I feel this is underhand. Customer service said, “Book all sessions for the month at once so you don’t miss any sessions”. That’s great, but we have busy lives and may not have a clear schedule a month in advance. It’s almost like they don’t want to be clear how many sessions you have left and hope you don’t book all the sessions within the month so they can pocket the money. I’m giving it one star for this reason.

Worst customer service of all time. My husband and I decided to start couples therapy a couple months ago and we were matched with a therapist who we absolutely love. We were also happy to see that Talkspace is covered by insurance, so we called our insurance and they let us know that they cover Talkspace at 100%. Unfortunately, it’s completely impossible to get in touch with anyone at Talkspace to send a bill for reimbursement. Our therapist asked them over and over again to please respond to me, but other than a brief “we’re sorry you’ve been having a hard time!” email, no one has provided us with the bill we need for reimbursement. There is no live chat or number to call, which is pretty astounding in 2021. I would never have used this platform if I thought I would be paying this much money, so at this point I basically feel like they lied to me and are lying to everyone when they say they’re covered by insurance. What a scam.

Not impressed. I wasn’t very impressed, both with the therapist or the customer service. I signed up for couples therapy, but didn’t schedule a session until about 2 weeks later. Meanwhile, I was charged for a full month (4 sessions), which apparently expire if not used within the monthly window. I attempted to contact customer service to request a credit towards the next month, as I was new to the service and didn’t recognize it was a “use it or lose it policy”. I received no response, nor credit - so I cancelled my subscription . I would prefer a “pay AFTER” type of service, but I suppose it’s a good business model, as they got a months worth of revenue for only two weeks of service. EDIT:: Going to update from 1 to 4 stars, as customer service eventually responded to my request and refunded the sessions that expired. For that I am thankful. However, had they responded sooner, I’d probably still be using their service. Now I’m trying a different service.

Refund. Me. Now.. Give me all of my money back. I don’t write app reviews, but there is no way to get any type of response from customer service. I was a brand new paying subscriber that needed assistance with a billing/technical issue. I’ve reached out via email multiple times for a week with no response, which is valuable time and money going down the drain as I wait on customer service to respond to what should be a simple request. After many automated emails, I went to social media dms to try to get ahold of someone. My question could easily have been taken care of with a quick phone call but they don’t offer any type of customer service phone call. This has created much more stress and frustration on me, all while my paid subscription dwindles down. I was now charged for TWO different subscriptions that Im not using. You’ve been unable to assist me in a simple request so PAY ME BACK….all of it. This “partial refund” automated refund wizard thing isn’t the right approach. I never used your services, only spent time trying to figure out how to get set up correctly! Take This Advice CS- If you don’t have enough customer service support to handle new clients, pause taking in new subscribers until you can fully serve them. Week long delays and keeping my money is not right. I’m done trying to make Talkspace work for me on my own. Bottom line - I’ve cancelled my account(s) and I expect Full Refunds now.

Has to be a scam. I can not actually believe anyone has gotten adequate care from this service after what I have experienced. My first provider on responded once at 1am, then went completely ghost and I didn’t hear anything. Switched providers to a new one, scheduled a session for a week later, got no messages from her other than confirming I don’t need to do anything prior to our session, which was the next day. It was at 10 am I log into the session at 9:50 to be ready. 10 comes and goes and by 10:15 I ended and see a message from her 4 minutes prior with “sorry I missed your session feel free to reschedule” I’m obviously confused and am only enraged when I get an email saying they are CHARGING ME $125 FOR A NO SHOW. EXCUSE ME???? I complained via the app and eventually Twitter since there is no way of calling anyone and got some sorry excuse of a response saying I was marked as a “no show” and they’ll refund me this one time but to be diligent and cancel. HUH???? I was sitting on the video WAITING and somehow that’s my fault? Total scam, these people do not care. Do not waste your money.

Scam website. They charged my card for 4 sessions ($396) without my awareness or any email or text, then booked me with a therapist who had no availability, then informed me 30 days later, just as they auto-billed my card again, that sessions expire each month regardless of whether I was seen or not. I scheduled with a new therapist who then didn’t have any availability until the last 2 weeks of my billing period, so I had to cram 4 sessions into 2 weeks. Way more anxiety than therapy. Honestly brutal customer service, I can’t imagine how bad this must be for anyone that has trouble navigating apps or websites. I’m ok but I’m 40 and get confused with apps sometimes. Feel really bad for older or less tech savvy people trying to get help.

If you need help on the app, don’t worry, it’ll never come.. I was using my work benefits so I didn’t lose out on money, but the fact that i wrote to customer service and i haven’t even gotten indication that my ticket was under review after nearly two weeks is simply unacceptable. I couldn’t even make an appointment despite having a credit, if you can’t reply to customers then maybe cater to less of them, because i genuinely need mental help and the stress of not being able to get the help i need has legitimately given me multiple mental breakdowns. I feel like I am being punished for not being able to properly communicate, one of the the very same issues I came to this app to fix. At this point it’s a whole lot easier to just continue on with my addictions and friendless life than it is to reach out for help. If you like good customer support, then don’t worry, I along with quite a few others i’ve seen are proof that those said agents might not exist, or if they do, are drowning in work.

Waste of time. I’ve used this app for a few months because it’s a benefit my job provides. I am in MA and I specifically requested to be matched with a female provider. For 2 weeks, the app was only matching me with male providers. I almost gave up but finally saw 1 female provider I could choose. As we started working together, the advice I was getting was very generic, stuff you already know and can read on the internet: for ex., have you tried meditation or breathing exercises? I asked my colleagues who also use this service and they were having the same experiences. It felt like my provider was not even paying attention to half of the stuff I was saying. In the end, I switched to a real psychologist from my insurance network. It is so much more helpful than getting these generic advices over text that I can already predict the responses to. I don’t think the selection criteria to become a Talkspace provider is very high. They just train people to provide some generic responses. If you really need help and want to see progress, don’t waste your time. As for the app itself, why isn’t there an option to freeze your account for more than 1 week? Sometimes people need a longer break. And why do you even ask for gender preferences of the provider and then provide the opposite matches?

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. Terrible App… Let me tell you why. After creating a profile I was automatically set up with a therapist who had “no availability”. There is no way to pick a new therapist at this point. I reached out to customer support… 6 days later I got a response apologizing for the delay and if I still had the same issue to respond to that email? The therapist did respond and let me know she avoids showing availability but rather chats with the person to determine this… I’m sorry… using my therapy time to (billed or not) to talk schedules. I work full time, this app has a button to view availability under the guise you can schedule time… so thats just optional. The therapist also mentioned she was in a different location so it wouldn't work (insurance billing wise) like i was the one who picked her or the location. - The user experience/patient experience is sorely lacking to say the least. My employer pays for this benefit. I will be reaching out to them and asking them to not use them in the future and opt for other options that are easier for users/people seeking out therapy.

You’re getting much less than what you pay for.. Think of the bare minimum platitudes you might’ve got from a school therapist. To give you a point of reference, the selections of therapists on this app are less than half as useful as that, if they even respond to you that is. I personally went through four different therapists, two of which immediately ghosted me for two entire weeks after introductions with no scheduled vacations mentioned in the app whatsoever to prepare me for that. One therapist simply sent me a PDF file of self-help strategies and wouldn’t even let me talk to them one on one about my own personal struggles that I sought therapy for in the first place. It’s like paying 300$ a month to be gaslit into feeling like it’s your fault you aren’t getting anything out of your therapy by a bunch of automated responses that will constantly antagonize you for wanting more out of the service. I was very patient and I’m sure the individual therapists have little control over the poor system, but don’t trust Better Help.

Complete and total silence. I signed up for this app on Saturday, searched for therapists using so many different “problems” criteria but still only ever was recommended one guy! So off the bat, there was no choice in who you work with. 😌 I messaged him on Saturday, no response, Sunday no response. (Just a hello and a clarification on my intro.) I booked him for a 10 minute free session on Tuesday morning and a one hour paid session on Thursday afternoon, figuring if he’s the only choice I can cancel Thursdays call after the Tuesday one if it’s not a good fit. I log in on Tuesday for the meeting and the meeting is gone! Had been canceled on his end, and I hadn’t been sent a notification. 😌 I messaged him to ask about it, no response. Also, my Thursday appointment said “awaiting confirmation” still as of Wednesday morning. So he’s MIA. I messaged customer service about it on Tuesday (the only contact option available on the app), and as of Wednesday morning there’s been no response from customer service either!! I messaged the therapist asking him to cancel the Thursday appointment so I don’t initiate some kind of automatic cancellation charge. I canceled my subscription. And I googled a support phone number off the app. There was no support available so I left a message. 😄 so…….. absolutely do not recommend if you need therapy lol.

Online therapy during a pandemic is extremely beneficial!. I always wanted to try therapy but wasn’t sure if I could do it. Thanks to Talkspace I have been able to better cope with the COVID-19 pandemic and all of the challenges it has brought my way. Not having to go to a physical office for my sessions has been really beneficial, especially now! As with most apps/businesses nothing is perfect, but I have been able to resolve any issues with customer service. Since starting therapy, I can confidently say I am learning how to better take care of myself, set boundaries, have honest conversations about how I’m feeling, and, most importantly, I am no longer keeping everything bottled up. I look forward to each session because I know I can talk to my therapist about whatever is on my mind. Thank you for having a positive impact on my life, Talkspace!

Strange billing practices.. The service is innovative, you get connected with a qualified therapist and exchange messages approximately daily. However people should be aware of the billing practices of this service. You are billed monthly ($100), and once signed up there is no way for you to cancel your subscription aside until your therapist approves your cancellation(!). Given the cost involved I'd prefer some more control over my account. As I was unaware of this, I didn't manage to cancel before the next month rolled over by one day, and I was billed a full month with no refund (not even partial) offered. Caveat emptor.

Buggy app, excellent therapy. This has been amazing for me. As a stay at home single mum to a toddler in a rural area with considerable postnatal anxiety, getting to a therapist was impossible for me. Talkspace let’s you choose a therapist from several recommendations (I ditched my first as it wasn’t a good fit, but my second was AMAZING). The progress I’ve made in six months is unbelievable ... I’m so incredibly grateful for this platform. It’s private, convenient and effective. The 4/5 is only because it’s painful having to enter my login code or fingerprint unlock 3-5 times every time I open the app.

4 days in. I haven't had any negative experiences yet. My therapist has been reading my entire life story lol and he has been supportive and examining my long messages. He gets back at least twice a day everyday. Still early days though

App won't open. I can't get this app to open at all. Very frustrating

Dreadful. This was a terrible experience. I didn’t get past the first stage, I was constantly left without a response to my Enquiries and when I did I think they were computer generated. I was asked the same question “have you ever been to therapy?” Twice in the same session. Very disappointed.

Awesome sauce. I've loved the journey and the therapists are really really skilled. Thanks Amy for all your help!

Profiteering from misfortune. The idea behind this app is excellent. The counsellors seem to want to talk about their own lives non-stop. They can be insensitive, unethical and offensive. What do they care as you are one of dozens of people they speak to in a day... if they reply at all. After my time on talkspace I felt way way worse. Much more depressed than before and rejected. The high subscription fees could have been better spent literally anywhere else. If you are struggling to cope in life there are much better resources out there. Avoid this app and look for better help.

Absolutely woeful. This feels like a scam. Tried 2 different therapists. Seems like they log in, read what you’ve written, ask a question, then move on to the next patient. I reply, ask advice, wait until the next day when they log in, then get, you guessed it, just get another question. No continuity in the conversation. No counselling provided. Just string you along and take the cash. Definitely would not recommend it.

Used to be good but now a waste of money. No responses and no therapy, good luck getting a good therapist on here these days, disappointing.

Excellent. I had a really good experience on Talkspace, I used it when I was working overseas and didn’t have the time/money/transport to go to face to face therapy. My therapist would send really long/detailed/personal messages, including books she recommended, quotes, websites etc. I saw another reviewer said they received short/impersonal messages but that was not my experience at all. I think it’s to do with which therapist you get, when you pick your therapist you have a choice of 3 and basically how they write their bios is how their messages will be. I chose the therapist with the longest bio, one of the others had a really short bio so wouldn’t have been my pick. I really struggled on my year overseas but fortunately in the last 4 months of my stay and when I discovered Talkspace I was able to turn everything around and create some really positive memories.

Waste of Money!!. You would be better off seeing a face to face therapist. What you will ultimately be paying for by the sounds of it is someone that you can send msgs to, who will then copy and paste a pre typed response. I chatted with Vered (A 'therapist' I use the term therapist loosely) Once I realised that Vereep was pasting his answers, I asked him questions about himself which he ignored and the ones that he did answer made NO SENSE. Vered just kept saying "no try. You must pay to talk". Which obviously put me off of talkspace. It's quite a lot of money that you will have to pay to have pretty much a diary in your pocket. It is also disappointing since I heard about this app from "Rupaul's What's the Tee?". I will no longer be looking into any of the products they are allied with.

BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY STAY AWAY!!. I never normally review apps but I had such a horrible experience with this one that I wanted to warn others. 1) there is no way to cancel you subscription!!! I have emailed the customer support team and have gotten no response I have even messaged my “therapist” no response and they continually try to bill me for another month when I have made it clear in written form I want to cancel THAT IS STEALING and from vulnerable people that just need help it is extremely unethical. 2) the therapist I had took hours and hours to reply and often sent one sentence question to massive paragraphs I would send him. This did not benefit me the SMALLEST bit and would never ever recommend this horrible app to anyone. They are just scammers they are not out here to help people and they target the most vulnerable, they should be so ashamed of themselves.

Waste of time and money. My therapist was nice enough, yet not particularly helpful in areas I needed them to be. Areas I brought up were brushed over until I had to be completely direct. There was nothing personal about it. This could have been due to the minimal contact (around two text messages a day). Once I stopped responding I was barely contacted after a week or so to ask if I was ok. I went to a therapist in person and got more from them in one session than I did in a couple of months on here. I wish I’d put my money towards seeing a therapist in person than using this.

Great idea but disappointing execution. The idea behind this app is fantastic but unfortunately the only way to access it's full functionality is to pay for a subscription. I think that there are other services on offer elsewhere that execute this idea much better.

Just Don’t. No support, no response, few options, don’t waste your money

Brilliant!. I cannot rave about this app enough. Have always considered seeking therapy but couldn't justify the $$ or have time working 60+ hrs a week :( Personally I'm highly emotionally reactive so I needed something or someone to help me get a grip... let me tell you my therapist on this app is a dead set legend! The tools he's given me and the discoveries we've made together are insane! I can text him 24/7, anywhere, anytime. I've never done an app review before but I'm so much more emotionally happier and healthier that I had to. I'm in Australia so it's about $200 a month but compared to $100 an in chair session that's a lot better. So freaking happy!

Life changing. This has changed my life, I owe so much to this app. I've now got family members using it and recommend it to all my friends I wish ,ore people knew about this!

Very helpful. This app is fantastic for those who need help sooner rather than later. I do prefer & recommend an in person therapist, but often it can be hard to book in, or a month between visits. This app allows help much sooner with daily check ins & instant communication. It's like texting a friend.

AMAZING. Sososo worth it!! the first stage can be tedious but once i was matched it was smooth sailing! ive benefited so much from this service and ive not even had it that long

V Happy. Really easy to use

Not great. Tried it for one month, was billed for two months. They won't refund unused time. The therapist was nice enough, but found her responses formulaic and impersonal. Also with the time difference I was waiting often 12 hours for a reply so it was a very stilted conversation, not the real time help I was hoping for. Felt the type of responses I was getting I could get from a friend or for free from various internet self help websites. Not worth the price which was $160AUD per month. Think better put towards an hour with a face to face therapist.

Bad customer service. Unless you’re under insurance within the app, would not recommend this app at all. I’ve mailed Talkspace atleast 10 times asking for my super bill so that I can reimburse my insurance but they can’t bother to respond. HIGHLY disappointed with the app. The therapist I found is a good therapist but don’t really know how I can continue if I can’t get my damn bill to reimburse.

meh. i just got the app and i’m honestly not comfortable giving out my information when i don’t know the people. yes i’m supposed to give my location of where i’m at but i want to sign out and i don’t know how

Not helpful. I couldn’t even use it without parent consent and money... I just wanted a person to talk to but whatever I guess.

Tiki is amazing 😉. Love talkspace

The app sucks. Why do I have to pay for help when I am having a crisis and need someone to talk to?

Bs. They lead you on and eventually ask you to sign up to their payment plan.

Excellent and Understanding. I live in a rural area and would have to drive 2 hours to find a decent therapist. That means a 5-6 hour time commitment for one session. With Talkspace, I can chat with my therapist from anywhere, at any time - at work, at 2 am, when I’m waiting in line at the grocery store. With that much access to my therapist it can sometimes be tough to stay focused but I am still figuring the process out. MUCH better results than traditional therapy!!

Genius invention. Most of us watch HBO on our phones but I would’ve never dreamed of having therapy online

Scam. This app ripped me off for hundreds of dollars. They charge a huge subscription fee and then bill you on top of that based on what how the therapist schedules you. They portray it as being the same cost for conventional therapy, but the advertising is misleading and you have to continue to pay for weekly sessions even if you or the counsellor is away or unavailable. The business model is highly unethical. I received about 2 hours of therapy and paid close to $1000.00. Sickening experience.

Not Quality Therapy or Advice. I tried two different therapists over the course of a month. It was like chatting with a friend, nothing more. I didn’t get advice that seemed professional and I didn’t get homework to improve my mental health. I got one or two texts a day. This service is not worth the money.

STAY AWAY worst customer experience. For starters, my therapist was great. Everything else AWFUL. This company should be ashamed of themselves. It took weeks and weeks of attempting to contact customer service for an invoice. These attempts were met with SILENCE. This abhorrent experience caused me financial duress. My experience with customer service caused more mental distress. It took relentless emails and leaving unfavourable comments on their insta page for a response. Never again.

horrible. one second on this app and when i say my age, they want my money and parental permission. teens are the ones who need the most help these days and so when u come on an app like this one, you probably don’t have anyone else to talk to and your parents might be the problem as well. this is honestly ridiculous.

Waste of money!. It’s been 5 days and no one has responded. I have requested a refund 3 times now without any response back. There is no way to contact them except through email and no response there either.

super untransparent!!! pls look for help elsewhere. this app literally prays on mentally ill folks !!!! you get excited to be able to finally access help, sign up for the payment, only to discover once u have payed for the whole month u cant get a refund at all.. you get tricked into thinking ure paying on a weekly basis & if the person who matches u offers u a discount code for 1 week of free therapy dont fall for it! the discount doesnt work :-( they dont mention that you wont be able to refund the money (even tho they tell u u can cancel the plan at any time...) & in general their refund policy is super sketch!!! thats 268.00 out of my minimum wage survival lol i wont be able to buy any groceries for the next month. pls proceed w caution if ure getting this app & make sure ure able to pay for the full month if u sign up for a plan! and dont give up looking for help elsewhere! if ure rich and suffering from minor depression/anxiety this is the app for you lol

Overcharged. This is a lie, no response from my person and they charged me over $1000 on my credit card. It’s all a lie do not use this application

Great, just wish I could pay in CAD!. As someone who moves around, travels a lot and is often in remote places out of cell service, this is the perfect method of therapy for me. I was lucky and found a great therapist right away, and it has been instrumental in my healing and growth. My only complaint is the app glitches, and sometimes my messages not getting through. I also wish you could pat directly in CAD so I don’t lose so much money in the exchange rate!

If You’re looking for help go else where!!!. Had to switch therapist 4 different time. Responds were random if any at all. Got an emoji thumbs up and was told that their day job was more important then helping me. Asked for a refund and they would only refund a portion! I spent a week trying to find a good match.

So convenient!. Living as busy of a life as I do, it’s great to be able to speak with someone at my convenience!

not responsive. I’ve had two different therapists and neither respond within the time frame advertised. I frequently have to send multiple messages asking them to reply and I pay hundreds of dollars a month for the service. DONT BOTHER and get real help.

Misleading pricing information and unprofessional therapists. Misleading pricing information and unprofessional therapists

Scam. All i sent was hey and the therapist “vered” said that i need parental consent and it going to have to pay. A troubled teen has to pay to get advice... what a scam.

Very good. Quick to set up. Quick to match a therapist. Works in a password protected app where you text back and forth with a therapist. They check messages several times a week and respond back with questions, answers, feedback. You can also set up voice chats as well. You can star messages that were particularly helpful or star your goals, plans, etc to quickly refer back to. It’s an investment in yourself

Lack of Support, difficult scheduling. Great idea, great access, poor execution. I experienced several bugs, no way of getting timely (Less than weeks) assistance. One bug kept me out of the app for 2-3 days. No timely way to ask for reimbursement. Therapists don’t use the in-app online booking, and take 12-24h to respond by design. Because of this, booking can take days - faster with traditional clinics. No insurance support outside of the USA. Experience with the therapist is quite impersonal to begin. Feels like we are a secondary priority to their regular practice. I wish I didn’t lose 200$ to this service. After a month, I’m still trying to book my first 30 min meeting or get reimbursed.

terrible customer service. terrible 7-10 day sla’s on emailing their customer service with no ability to chat live or talk to a human to resolve admin issues. going elsewhere.

Make available in Canada. I’m sure I the Canadian government could get on board but y know it just preferably majority of people with substance abuse… can’t afford it and if this is based off the us medical system then no thanks it does have the knowledge I need but I can’t afford it…….. so one star for me and for everyone that’s lower income as well it’s a human right to be able to get support if needed it doesn’t go great born with a disability and on top into hard substances I would love to use the apps or other most of it I feel and see as payware “cough cough” give us your money ever though of doing non profit organizations to fund your app anyways I’ll get pay double if not triple out of my family’s money for a specialist I guess

Not impressed. A good app, but the support is horrible. I had some ok conversations with the therapist (nothing groundbreaking "be mindful, stay positive), so I wasn't a fan. Still. They charged me twice even after I cancelled the service and now wouldn't return my messages!

Get charged without knowing/not helpful. I used this app for two month, but still get bills afterwards for several month without knowing. Very unreasonable charge and did not notify me that I am still paying for the bill. Also the therapist was not helpful at all, she only get back to me after two or three days with a message no longer than couple lines, total waste of time and money. Do not recommend.

Hit or miss. We signed up for couples therapy. The first therapist was useless/unresponsive and customer service was equally useless. All they offered was to change therapists even though the first one had wasted a lot of our time. The new therapist was actually awesome (which is the only reason to rate above 1 star). When I eventually tried to cancel the subscription, customer service was once again useless, didn’t listen to my request or process the cancellation correctly. When I highlighted this shortcoming their only response was “oops, wanna sign up for a new subscription?”

Disappointed. My boyfriend and I signed up for some couples therapy and I’m beyond disappointed with our experience. I’ve used talkspace before and recommended we try them for this. TalkSpace has been a huge let down. We were given random choices even tho we were told that our options were curated for our needs. We picked a therapist who rejected us because she wasn’t taking video calls. Her profile stated this and we were fine with it. We picked another person who then informed us she couldn’t work with us because I’m Canadian and my boyfriend is American. This information was stated when we signed up. To make the experience even worse, we asked to be matched with someone who could takes us considering our living situation, we received radio silence for three days. We finally get an automated response just canceling our subscription with a PARTIAL refund. Poor customer service to say the least.

Terrible service and terrible cancellation.. After I went through 3 or 4 providers who simply never responded I gave up. To cancel the membership you go through several questions of are you sure? Use of dark patterns like they used are being outlawed in California for that reason. There’s also no support for lgbtq patients.

Update please. App crashes whenever I try to open my chat. Lost 2 days of therapy until I could access the website from my computer. Still not working. This has been happening since the most recent update about a week ago.

Glitches galore. My therapist seems to mean well but week after week I’m not receiving many of her responses. It makes it very difficult to make any meaningful progress. The app is too expensive and the progress too slow with all the issues. Think I’ll have to cancel my subscription which is unfortunate as I really wanted it to work. Disappointed.

Very Happy. Super happy with my therapist, you can choose who you like and you want, change them later. I love having the option to vent at 2am if I need to. I don’t get that anywhere else. My therapist has gotten me through a lot and I’m happy to say I’m gonna stick with it for a while.

Very helpful!!. I had such a great experience with my therapist Kathleen!! From the very beginning till the end!! Very professional approach with a warm human being touch!! Kathleen definitely helped me in a tough time in my private life!! I should admit before I start I had some hesitations regarding the online therapy but now I know that it is working!! Thank you Kathleen for your help!!

Love this app.. It has changed my life. It was especially helpful when I was living in Beijing where therapy is not common and it is very difficult and expensive to find an English speaking therapist there. I have been with Talkspace for 3 years now and I recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Do Not Use This Therapy Service!!. I’ve never written a review but I can’t stress enough that this is was a Horrible Experience! I’ve requested a full refund and expressed the fact that they are charging people for nothing. Still waiting to hear back from customer service. No one will reach out or respond to your messages and you’ll be charged for a week of the service. I am looking into filing a formal complaint. Save your money for something in person.

Barf.. Gotta be the worst way to get metal help. If anything, I want to kill my self more now.

Great alternative to face to face therapy. I have been very happy with this device and the quality of discussion with my therapist. This is a very viable alternative to face to face therapy for anyone who can’t do regular appointments for whatever reason.

Can’t make an account. I never wrote reviews like EVER but I this app made me so damn frustrated! I tried over and over again to make an account and twice it failed so I put my email in and just tapped forgot password and re did my password, and it keeps saying it’s incorrect when I know it’s wrote as I used that password before like I’m so frustrated-going back to 7cups as it’s free and always someone to frocking talk to

COMPLETE SCAM. DO NOT SIGN UP. Their “counsellors” are a joke. You’ll realize right away they’re likely just people who couldn’t get counselling jobs at normal practices. I was set up with 2 different counsellors, both were terrible. When you sign up you have to use your credits within the month, and the provider I got paired with went on vacation for many days and so I was unable to use my credits on time. TalkSpace wouldn’t extend the cycle for me or give me a refund despite so much email back & forth explaining my situation. They don’t even have a phone line set up to speak with their customers. They take advantage of vulnerable people seeking help which is not OK. I wasted almost $400 CAD. Don’t waste your time or money!!!!

Didn’t feel like a priority or made progress. I had a therapist NOT SHOW UP to our live session. It was the most hurtful, unprofessional thing you can do in this industry. The two therapists I talked with both seemed to not know how to even use the app on their end and didn’t go the extra mile to make sure they did. I switched therapists twice and I constantly felt like I wasn’t making progress or it was glacial because they respond with general or bare minimum feedback. I’m not sure if they’re trying to drag it out to make more money or what but it was a misfire for me.

Not therapy!!. I was going through depression and my anxiety was extremely high, and I decided to seek therapy. After seeing so many ads for talk space, I decided to try without searching for any reviews. The first therapist only asked me why I'm here, so I responded, and after that, she ghosted me for three days. I decided to try another provider and informed her that I would really like a structure. She responded with; it will take me three days to get back to you. I immediately contacted support to get a FULL refund and received an automated message stating that it could take 21 days to respond. This company/app is doing a disservice to people who are suffering mentally. Just check out Glassdoor and the reviews they have from the work experience from therapists. I want a FULL REFUND, not a partial. SCAMMERS who prey on vulnerable people who need help.

Surprisingly expensive. It’s cheaper for me to see a psychologist in person weekly. Seems like the app functions well, I just don’t see the value.

Terrible, waste of money, do not try. Therapists don’t respond at all even though this company offers 5 day response guarantee. Waste of money

Supportive. My experience was regular, normal, however I probably should have done phone therapy instead of just text. I've been to different types of therapists and this approach seemed pretty much the same. Happy and thankful it was much cheaper than regular therapy. I think it's a good and less scary intro to therapy for most people.

Template responses. First off, I’ll say I haven’t paid for this and my review is only based on the free intake portion of the app. However, the responses were so robotic and trite that it didn’t feel like a real person on the other side. It didn’t give me the confidence to pay to continue.

Just no. This could've really been something. Reading some of the reviews for this app made me genuinely sad. This app offers hope at a cost to the people who need it most, takes from them and offer them little support. It cannot deliver or really meet any professional standards of mental health services. Go to a therapist or psychiatrist instead or if meeting the person or money is the issue call a helpline if you need the support. I guarantee if you google you will find one in your area (e.g. coast or kidshelpphone, etc.)These lines will offer you the same quality of support at no cost, and they will answer you right away. No true professional mental health worker Ive ever met with would think its okay to answer me days after I’ve reached out. Disgusting. Shame founders of this company, I know you may of initially had great intentions but all you did was create another system that offers the allure of help and meanwhile lets people fall through the cracks when they need help the most.

Disappointed. I have had two therapist since I joined this app two weeks ago and I am very disappointed. My first therapist responded in an ok timing but I wasn’t connecting and didn’t feel like I was getting any helpful advice and tips, she would make it hard to have a conversation with some of the responses she would send. So I switch, feeling hopeful with finding someone who I believed I could connect with more but now that I have switch, this therapist is hardly having any conversation with me at all. Very disappointed and I do not think I was be renewing my subscription after this month.

How old you have to be. Why does it matter how old you have to be it’ll be 16 or something it shouldn’t matter how old you are this is stupid I’m only for adults And teenagers

Very disappointed. I signed up for talk space really looking forward to getting some help. I eagerly wrote a message to my therapist and then checked my phone every 15 minutes for a reply. The app gives a guaranteed response time that was about 6 hours from when I initially posted. That time came and went so the app offered me another guaranteed response time which was about 9 hours later. The therapist did not contact me within that time either. Thinking that I had picked a therapist with maybe too much on her plate I switched to a new therapist. Now this therapist has also missed two of her guaranteed response times. Now I feel as if I was conned. My credit card has been charged $260.00 and I have not been contacted by anyone from Talkspace in well over 24 hours when they GUARANTEED a response in just a few hours.

No refund even if you don’t use the service. Ignore the wonky UI and difficult account creation process. What really upsets me is a $40 charge even though I did not consult with a professional or engage in any therapy. I’ve been waiting days for Talkspace support to respond to my request for a refund. It’s like they truly don’t care. What also bothers me is their billing partnership with something called link. I don’t know who they are, but suddenly I have an account with them. So who is charging me? Who has my data? The app is hard to use, I can’t get a refund, and I don’t know who has my data. Update: after a full week I received a canned reply denying me a refund because I typed one single sentence to the assigned therapist who never replied. This is considered an interaction, and interactions don’t get refunds. This is fraud it what this is.

Don’t waste your time. I started their services because i was in dire need of help. I filled out my insurance information and everything, took their little survey’s and they matched me with a provider. I started messaging her right away and didn’t get a response for a day. Cool no big deal at least she responded. As SOON as she sent the message the next day, i sent in a reply and then nothing. For two days. Not to mention i said i was suicidal and to not get a reply from her after stating that i was having issues was beyond frustrating. She never answered so i cancelled my account. Don’t waste your time on this app, go to better help instead or work on getting a therapist through your insurance. Seems like all this app and their providers care about is milking the clock to get more money. Biggest waste of my time.

Buyer beware. Poor experience with provider and service.. I wonder if Talkspace actually looks into the people providing care. I know they don’t respond to complaints or concerns so I doubt it. My therapist never responded to me even on days when we had a session or she cancelled a session. There was no daily interaction or daily assistance. I saw my provider twice before she started cancelling last minute and I was never given the ability to reschedule so I paid for 4 sessions and only received half with no way to reschedule or get a refund. The second month I was charged and had 0/4 sessions due to last minute cancellations. Still limited help from Talkspace with automatically generated responses. I have filed with the better business bureau. Perhaps then I will get a response?

One message a day. I decided to use talk space because my employer provided it and I needed something convenient like virtual therapy because I’m normally working during “in person therapists” hours. I used the messaging feature where one week of messages equates to one session. In that week, I got an introduction message the first day, nothing the next day, talk space sent me an evaluation to do, and then my only actual message from my therapist was “how was your thanksgiving” which was sent around 6:30 am. I responded at 7 am and received no other messages until my “session” ended. I wasted a week where I could have been getting actual help and I don’t think that’s okay. One message a day shouldn’t be allowed. It would take a year just for my therapist to get to know me.

System is not well connected. This review is focused primarily on the platform itself. I found getting started to be a clunky process. I had signed up for a plan that included a weekly live session. My first 3 therapists that I was connected with did not have availability for live sessions. Once I found a therapist that did have live sessions, the times I requested for live sessions always had to be moved as they conflicted with a session she already had scheduled. Ultimately, this platform is not right for me. I signed up while I was in the midst of a major depression and wish I'd recognized that not having a dedicated session time more frequently wasn't going to work. An expensive mistake as I signed up for a quarter. The therapist I landed on would have been a great fit on another platform, but I'm going to cut my losses.

Will just take your money. Unless you are ready to book that day, and luckily run into no issues, maybe it won’t matter that there’s no customer service hotline, and all customer service tickets are handled by bots. I tried to use their service for the first time, didn’t hear back from my matched provider for 5 days because she was out on vacation. (Why did they match me with someone not even available?) She won’t be free for another week! The plan I chose was 4 sessions for the month, this means you have 4 credits you HAVE to use within a 4 week period. You get no refunds. Not just prorated refunds, but I haven’t spoken to anyone yet and already I want to cancel but there is NO option to if you change your mind. I’m now scrambling trying to squeeze 4 sessions within a 2.5 week period because this app is stupid.

Randomly Switches Therapists. I’ve been established and talking with a therapist I enjoy. She sent me a form to see if my insurance would cover (still no clue) and the app added a random therapist and tried closing my session with my current one. I confirmed my current one is still willing to work with me, so now I have to fight past error messages from the app to talk to my actual therapist while it keeps trying to connect me with someone who isn’t up to date on everything I’ve worked through with my existing therapist who is willing to continue helping me. I’ve filed a support ticket with no response or luck in resolving. No clue what’s going on anymore.

Lack of continuity and misrepresented service. I was stressed about moving across country and downloaded the app to get three sessions on Talkspace through my employer. I had one live session and then my therapist got promoted to manage other therapists and I had to get rematched to a new provider. This new provider then informed me that she wasn’t licensed in the state I was moving to. So in three sessions I have to restart with three new providers... This is a terrible user experience caused in large part to Talkspace’s explosive growth as a tech platform rather than a service provider focused first on doing no harm. They make “virtual” sound frictionless, when actually there are licensure requirements and laws they have to follow, but don’t plan for. I feel WORSE having tried to get help and instead getting dropped twice.

I gave it an honest try. Three different therapists. Three terrible experiences. The first therapist that I was paired with was a very kind lady. Her profile s said she was new to talkspace. Even with that fact…I thought I’d give it a try. After 2 weeks of very slow (copy and paste) textbook responses, I decided to try a different therapist. Second therapist after only 3 or so hours decided that I had a substance abuse issue. Hadn’t asked me any detailed questions about me or my life yet. Not sure how someone could come to that conclusion via text after just a basic first Interaction. Third therapist. Even with my prior experiences I went in with a positive attitude. I didn’t take my frustrations out on her. What made up my mind to walk about from talkspace was what happened next. I sent a message on a Tuesday sharing my bad experiences so far and I was thinking about walking away, and it being a waste of money. Third therapist didn’t even look at it or respond until Sunday! Maybe whoever reads this will have a better experience than I did. Maybe not. That’s for your to decide. I’m just one person telling lots Of people that it’s not worth the money or time.

Accessible Mental Health! Poor quality of customer service. Great idea and app! Horrible quality controls, professionalism and payment transparency. Some wonderful therapists for individual and couples — overall not a professional experience. Chat rooms, shares, audios and therapy options would be great if and only if therapists had quality control, contracts or incentives to provide professional services. The app itself could revolutionalize Mental Health with the right people, customer service department and reliability. It’s sad that this app is many peoples first experience with mental health due to the horrible quality controls and execution. If Talkspace truly cares about their customers, they would have surveys about their experience with each department and fix it! There could be so many more positive reviews with the right controls and qualify service delivered. Some therapists are wonderful! Others are unprofessional. Where is the standard? What is the service standard for professional, helpful Mental Health service? App itself is wonderful. Need to get the culture and people to align. Approach with personal responsibility and as a consumer. It’s a vulnerable space and can be helpful but also very frustrating business operation at this time.

Not professional. I tried three different therapists and none of them helped at all. I had a partner recently passed away due to a traumatic accident and was not given any real tools to work on my PTSD, but instead was chocked up to “stages of grief”. They never checked in and do not really care about your well being, it’s just an extra paycheck to them as most have in person clients already. They honestly don’t seem to know what they are doing. Most don’t even know how to work the app. I was charged for a full session and we did nothing. The entire time the therapist was trying to figure out how to do live messaging. We both messaged the help center and I didn’t hear back for two weeks…how is that helpful? My takeaway is this app is a waste of time and money full of mediocre therapists looking for quick cash.

Lagging support when in crisis. I was approved for 6 sessions with a therapist through an EAP. Talkspace only allowed for 3 sessions and then took nearly three weeks to respond to my request for help. They have no phone number and are obviously understaffed. I was sent back and forth between the EAP and Talkspace. Finally it was the EAP that gave me a new authorization number even though insisting I still had 3 sessions left with the old number. I’m still waiting for Talkspace to let me know how this will work. I’m told I’ll need to re-register and hopefully I will still be able to see the same therapist, because I was making some progress with them. It’s abhorrent that it would fall on the patient to advocate for themself during a time of crisis. This is how people fall through the cracks. Until they fix there support issues, I recommend finding another platform.

Not Worth the Money. Talkspace is not covered by my insurance, therefore I was paying out of pocket. My therapist and I decided I did not need an appointment every week, however Talkspace charges you $90 a week regardless if you use their services. Additionally, I did not use the messaging feature- the only time I did was generic messages from my therapist that were not personalized for me. Talkspace really needs to develop a plan that could be tailored to your needs- $390 a month is too expensive for what I used the app for. Additionally, I had not used any services when I requested a refund for my current billing, however Talkspace only refunded me $290 because of when I cancelled. I had not requested any appointments with my therapist or sent any messages, therefore I was clearly not using the services. Do not recommend paying out of pocket for their services.

Buyer beware. I just read the other reviews. So many of us were robbed. I’m down for taking legal action if anyone else is? I wasn’t matched for with a therapist for almost a week and when I did match, they immediately took $396 dollars without any approval on the provider. The therapist had 1 year experience, and apologized that she didn’t have experience with the one thing I signed up for. We parted ways nicely via one text. The app is too busy and basic to provide actual health care. I asked for a refund (and it’s not easy to get) and they kept 100$ of the refund. It sounds like a good idea, but it’s just an expensive experiment. I never had a single session or a talk: Lost $100 bucks?! No one returns my emails. I have to dispute the charges with my CC now. They only exist to take money from people who need help.

Feeling victimized by therapy app. I signed up for TalkSpace through my insurance, but it was never clear what the actual costs would be. I was charged $50 when I set up a 30 minute live session and $10 shorty after (possibly because I sent a message to the therapist introducing myself). The app automatically canceled my appointment because the therapist never confirmed it, but I did not receive a refund. I immediately canceled the service and have written support for a refund. I’m struggling to work through a medical crisis situation with my mom and was looking forward to getting some support. The first time I really felt sad and depressed, however, was when I got the message that my session was canceled. Lesson learned: if you need help, start with a human. Update: I did receive a refund a few days after making a request.

Fraud. I don’t think I’ve ever written a review on an app before. I was so excited to use this but this app is a fraud. They said they would only charge me the copay fee AFTER they matched me with a therapist. After a few minutes and reading reviews, I cancelled it. I then noticed I still got charged, although I never even matched with anyone/ it was 5 minutes. I haven’t heard from them in almost a week for a refund. No live person, no number to call. Imagine how hard it would be to get hundreds of dollars back. Also you can’t remove your card from the app- another red flag. Just go in and put in a fake card number to avoid them doing anything else since they clearly don’t give money back. Don’t trust them. There’s a reason I’ve never heard of it or have been recommended it before. So much potential just wasted.

Sadly disappointed. I was excited when insurance said that TalkSpace was covered. It seemed like a good way to get help. But 1st therapist was a bit unprofessional, cussing during our visit and then telling me to pray for answers to my questions (was a bit confusing). My 2nd therapist was more professional. I was looking forward to scheduling more appts with 2nd therapist but I got emails from TalkSpace stating I had to change providers due to someone being out of network. There’s no provider’s name on the email for me to reference. When using the link to switch providers, it takes me to the homepage where both providers are listed. No system msg in either provider chat. I’ve emailed daily for a week with only 1 response from TalkSpace stating they escalated to a manager and guess what? I’m still waiting for a response. I’ve had to cancel future appointments with providers because I’m not sure what else to do when TalkSpace can’t reply to a simple email asking for the name of the provider so that this can be fixed. This is terrible continuity of care and also a delay in patient care. Not a good thing when trying to get help to reduce stress. And this app does the opposite and increases stress/anxiety. Terrible

All they seem to care about is money. Just started my therapy journey and went to 2 sessions online. Didn’t really click with the person and have gotten a little discouraged with wanting to book another session. Instead of TalkSpace reaching out to see why I haven’t been online or book another session, I get constantly bombarded with messages about the $15 I owe for my sessions. I don’t get asked why I haven’t been on the app or why I haven’t made another session, only asked why I haven’t immediately payed they're fees. Pretty disappointed as while I’m not in a really bad place I could be and only getting asked why I haven’t paid my fees 2x a day rather than why I haven’t checked in in 3+ weeks doesn’t seem like the best approach to someone trying to work out their mental health.

I wish I could give negative stars. My first counselor never connected. I sat online for an hour. No show. No reply to chat. My second counselor met with me twice. I had to reschedule approximately 6 times because of “technical issues” on their end. My appointments were about 5 minutes long and on my second appointment, she didn’t even know who I was and was discussing someone else’s medications with me. My final straw was when this provider was a complete “no-show” for an appointment. Again, I sat here like a fool waiting for her to connect. Nada. No chat messages. No call. My third counselor canceled my appointment 1 hour before it was scheduled. She had no availability until a week later. By this time I was completely out of my SSRI. She said she’d refer me to another provider and I got dropped. Now Talkspace “can’t match me with a provider”. Meanwhile I’ve gotten charged for about 5 appointments that never happened so far! ~ $170 each! Complete waste of my time and money. I don’t even know how a provider can just not show up and the platform evidently doesn’t care. It’s completely unethical and when you tell customer service you get nowhere. This app has serious issues. It’s so awful.

Not worth the $. I’d hate to agree with all the negative reviews on here, but if you’re looking at trying the unlimited texting it is not worth the $. I’ve tried traditional therapy before and wanted to see if the texting would work better for me. I journal/write often so I figured this would be perfect for me. The first provider I matched up with seemed good, however her answers quickly became shorter and more generic. I decided to switch over to a new provider, which was easy enough. I transferred the chat with therapist 1 so he could get caught up to speed. I got an initial response of, ‘let me read through the history and then I’ll respond’ and waited 3 days and never heard back. Considering this plan is billed weekly that’s a huge waste of $.

Don't bother. I was referred by my mom's work to get this as it is covered under her insurance plan. They basically offered a free trial, but once that was over, it became ridiculously difficult to make an insurance claim. I really like my therapist, but I might have to find a new one because the full service costs about $100 per week. I could be wrong about the exact cost, I don't care. It's too expensive to pay for without insurance. I can't get the app to take my insurance, which does cover the service. Customer support does not have a phone number, you just have to send a message and hope that someone responds within the week. I've seen reviews here of people unsatisfied with their therapists, but I think the service itself is the problem. Absolutely laughable cash grab.

Awful. My therapist is good, but the platform and app aren’t. There’s no way to get in touch with people on the backend. They push you into new “rooms” when you update information but fail to update it on existing appointments. So they’re canceled. You can’t get in touch with anyone to get it fixed. Their chat is nothing but a bot sending you in loops and their messages are just answered with generic articles. It’s absolutely infuriating. This app also regularly has issues with sound, you can’t see app messages if you’re in an appointment you have to hang up to check them, and it also freezes quite a bit. Also, if you’re in a session and someone calls your phone you have sound issues and sometimes have to disconnect and reconnect. If my therapist wasn’t great, I’d definitely not recommend this app to anyone.

Unresponsive. I signed up for talk space as I have been unsuccessful with other types of therapy in the past, and it is hard for me to fit anything more in my schedule. I went through the initial stages is signing up and selected a provider based on their recommendations (bots), signed all the intake forms and never got a response after waiting almost a full week. This is after messaging the provider to see if she had the capacity to take me on as a client after I had waited a few days for a response. It is not what is advertised, which is sad because I thought this would be a good avenue for someone with my crazy schedule. I canceled my subscription and requested a refund cause let’s face it I didn’t actually use their service, but after requesting a refund was only able to get the partial amount.

This is a Scam. Please do not use this app. They do not have good therapist or providers. They charge you for your full 4 weeks monthly and refuse to refund you if you cancel your subscription because their providers do not put in the effort to actually help you. I went through 5 providers and all of them were not professional and did not seem to know what they were doing. Additionally the experience years of the providers are false. One of my providers had on her file experience of 12 years however when I asked her about it she let it slip that she had only 3 months experience. If you truly need help please go somewhere else. They will make you feel worse instead of helping you. Do not go here or use this help. BetterHelp is a much better option and they truly do help you. Talkspace only cares about money and not your mental health.

Availability. I love the app and have used it on and off for various issues over the last couple of years. The buggiest issue I have is availability. I have a very tight schedule with work, my son, and other responsibilities. It’d be extremely helpful if I could put in MY availability or preferences for it when searching for providers. Overall I love the app, how easy it is to change a provider when I feel they aren’t a good match, as well as the fact that despite not every provider being a good match, they have ALL given me some big take away to work with.

Misinformation and Extreme Lack of Customer Service. Talkspace provides a virtual platform to connect with therapists for mental health which is awesome. What’s not awesome is their customer support team. I was told my plan would expire in 2023 after some confusion about it ending prior. Then my plan is canceled without my prompting and I’m told I was given incorrect information. This is so incredibly frustrating considering it is my main support for positive mental health. I’m extremely disappointed and upset that I won’t be able to continue. Their support team frequently takes a week or longer to reply, and this would happen with some of their providers as well. It seems like an environment that doesn’t support growth on either end. What a shame when the potential is so great!

Horrible customer support. If you plan on using an HSA card to pay, DON’T DO IT! I have been waiting and waiting for a super bill because my HSA is requiring verification, and a regular old invoice or receipt isn’t what they want. I have requested this super bill multiple times, only to be met with the same automated response. I provide the information they’re asking for, then I never get another response. I’m on my third or fourth request for a super bill for my first month, and in the mean time Talkspace hit my card for another $280, so now my HSA wants verification for that too. This company shouldn’t be advertising how they accept HSA if they aren’t willing to provide the verification HSA needs in a timely manner. I liked my therapist but unfortunately I will not be continuing with Talkspace due to their poor customer support.

Terrible service from Talkspace support. I am cancelling my plan with Talkspace due to their absolutely abysmal customer support. I emailed the support team with a simple problem: I was unable to book a session with the provider I had been seeing for the better part of a year. Both myself and the provider were getting error messages when we attempted to book our live video session. I received a reply from customer support stating that I must not be doing it right. I sent back screenshots of my process, in hopes of getting some clarification, but the customer rep simply reiterated that I must be trying to book the wrong kind of appointment, and suggested that I sing up for additional therapy sessions. The whole experience has been extremely frustrating and invalidating, and I do not recommend this service to anyone.

Awful platform and terrible service. The app takes weeks to match you to a provider but they still run the clock on your credits so your sessions expire. Providers have no availability so you pay for a month and can’t use your sessions. Have not heard back from customer support in TWO WEEKS. There is no phone support, only email that goes into a black hole. One provider missed my video session and then tried to force me to use chat only. Another provider is ignoring my requests to reschedule even though I brought it up at my last session. The app does not give you a way to reschedule nor cancel a session yourself. When you go to the session details page it is blank even on a new iPhone with latest iOS. The only way to reschedule or cancel a session is through your provider. Which you can’t do if they won’t respond.

This app is a scam!. The builders should be ashamed of themselves. With all the mental health issues going on right now, they are stealing from people who are seeking help. Despicable!!!!! 1. They force you to prepay for sessions before you use them. 2. They pair you up with a therapist on their own. No choice on your end but request another. 3. My therapist canceled twice on me an hour before my appointment citing bad scheduling! 4. After 2 weeks of trying to schedule and the crap customer experience I attempted to cancel. 5. The cancellation system forces you to cancel your account first so you lose access to customer service and the app, then you have to click on a link emailed to you to request a refund. 6. Refund process goes like this - click on link, you get offered a refund! Great no amount shows and you click accept the which another pop up comes up with “confirmation” so if you quick click “ok” and NOT NOTICE THAT ITS HALF WHAT YOU PAID FOR! That’s it! No recourse no support nothing!!! Save yourself and avoid these criminal companies seeking to take advantage of the people who are already in need of some mental health help.

Can’t trust the drs and bad customer service.. Initially, I loved my psychiatrist. Loved the convenience. My psychiatrist diagnosed with combination adhd. He said the first line of treatment is usually a stimulant, which he could not prescribe, so he would do a write up for my GP. I requested my information send to my GP and they say it could take 30 days. 30 days to fax some paperwork? Unreal. There is no customer service number. No way to reach anyone except the same agent over and over who ignored everything I said. Finally my GP’s office calls saying they have the fax after 3.5 weeks only to tell me the psychiatrist recommended more therapy. Not the conversation we had. I truly believe this app is a scam. Do not use it if you want help with mental illness. Fine for someone who just needs a person to speak with here and there. Don’t expect anything from the actual company though.

Therapist unavailability and cancellations. I have to echo what so many reviews here say about therapists being frequently unavailable and canceling sessions last minute. If you want continuity and stability and a therapist that upholds their commitments, do not use Talkspace. I have changed providers three times for this reason, but sometimes there are not any matches so I have to wait several weeks to find a proper match. Plus, when a therapist flakes on your session (this has happened twice to me), you do not get an automatic refund. Having full-time/dedicated therapists on the platform would help resolve many problems but that would mean that talkspace as a company would have to fork up some compensation. TLDR; if you’re fine with being an afterthought for a therapist that is not dedicated, use this app.

They don’t care. And I feel helpless. Waited over a month at this point to get my situation fixed. Once I ran out my 5 free sessions with a therapist, I set up my payment method to continue therapy. But it still said i have no credits available, so I can’t book more therapy sessions. I messaged support three times within 3 weeks about this issue and no response. Once I did get a response they said they fixed the issue and closed my ticket without confirming it was fixed. Lowe and behold, the issue is not fixed and I still can’t add credits for sessions. So now I’ve been waiting 2 more weeks after having to make a new support ticket in order to get another response. 5 weeks now and still no therapy for me. Doesn’t seem like they care about me or my mental health at all. I’ll be going to BetterHelp from now on.

they don’t care about your mental health, they want $$$.

Don’t waste your time or money. I should have known something was wrong when I tried to get ahold of customer service for a billing issue. Still haven’t heard back a week later. Resolved the issue myself but now I can’t get ahold of either therapist I matched with and apparently I don’t actually get the 1 session a week I paid for. Unfortunately for me I paid 3 months in advance (over $1,000) and there doesn’t seem to be any way to get my money back other than claiming fraud with my bank. I think it’s a good concept but they clearly don’t have the manpower at the moment to make it work. For how much they charge they should at least have a customer service phone number…but no just automated responses to your messages and no accountability. Hopefully your reading these reviews instead of seeing the App Store rating and purchasing this service like I did.

Be careful! They say they take insurance…. Be careful. They say they take insurance but no you create an account and it says it will look at your insurance and then work with your insurance company. Lies. Got two bills very large and it was ridiculous. Our insurance covers mental health and pays for counseling. They did not charge insurance at all. Then when you try to check the insurance, it makes you upload the information again but it wants you to make a new account. If you put a in a request it takes forever to hear back from still in the process. All I can say is be wary of this app and the fact that it “takes insurance”. Very disappointed! Please do not say send feedback to the email address and we will respond in one day because this is a lie. If it were true then you would have responded to our support issue in the first place…

Seems like such a great idea, but with a giant catch.. As with everything else in US healthcare, it’s profit-center disguised as empathy and compassion. I recently had my existing therapist switch firms, and unfortunately they were no longer able to take my employer health insurance. I’ve been unable to find anyone in the months since. I was recommended to check out Talkspace from a friend, and my first question is actually google’s most common search: “Does Talkspace accept insurance?” The answer that Talkspace uses is “40 million Americans have their Talkspace covered by their insurance or employer.” In fact, there’s a prompt for it in the settings with drop down menus to all of the health insurance plans available in the country. Something seemed fishy though, as I couldn’t progress any further. When I talked to my “match specialist,” I was told “We generally don’t accept insurance.” If a company is going to be this deceptive and dishonest with its messaging before I’ve even started, what does that say about their ethics? “40 million Americans have their Talkspace covered by their insurance or employer” doesn’t exactly scream “we generally don’t accept insurance,” does it?

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I NEVER write reviews about anything, but I am so frustrated with this app and it’s support. I got charged a ridiculous amount of money for 4 sessions of therapy, per month, for 2 months: 8 sessions total. 2 of which my provider canceled/no-showed, I was still charged the session they missed, and the credits for my 4th session were taken up to reschedule my provider’s no-show instead of transferring over the credits. Having this happen TWICE now in less than 1 month of actually seeing this therapist, I am not pleased. I have been messaging and emailing customer support to figure out how I can get the sessions credited accordingly and I have no heard from customer service in over a week. THIS IS A JOKE. Very much debating on suing because I am out of so much money for plain unprofessionalism all around.

Terrible setup.. Great app for help. Terrible profile setup. They make it complicated on setting up your information and surprising you with what you will need like an insurance number. If you mess up it doesn’t let you go back you have to exit and start all over. There is no search or contact information on the app nothing explaining what is needed if something is confusing. So they def don’t care to make sure you understand the profile set up or can correct a mistake. It’s as if they think everyone is a medical coder/case manager. After that nightmare it’s great with the therapist and to have access to a therapist just through message.

Unprofessional therapist. My therapist was 15 min late and his excuse was that he is at his daughters house and dogsitting while plumbers are working there. I see this as very unprofessional behavior multi tasking during my therapy session. While online appointments allow some flexibility this should still be considered a job and doing other personal activities should not interrup my appointment. This was to be our 2nd session and he had told me we were going to start an intensive treatment for trama. While that prospect had me concerned and a little worried i was on time and waiting. The stess he has caused me is unwarranted and has left me more uncomfortable. The first therapist I was to meet with didnt bother to even show up 2 weeks ago. Talkspace has really let me down and infact made my life worse off. Id like to speak with a supervisor as soon as possible.

Such a frustrating experience. Is therapy supposed to be frustrating? Are you supposed to have to spend more time communicating with customer service than talking to your therapist? If the answers to the above were yes, this would be the best service ever. My therapist continually cancelled my appointments (she cancelled 3 out of 4) with her, so I only got to talk to her once. When I tried to get assigned to a new therapist, they were unable to find one for me. Their system registers any messages sent as sessions too, so I made sure not to send any messages and only use live sessions. The issue is that my therapist was constantly sending messages. Even though I didn’t respond to them, Talkspace still credited them against my account as sessions. Such a rip off…added stress to my life when I was looking for tools to reduce stress.

Not good. I love my therapist she helps me so much. I've already gotten so far with her or else I would go have my therapy elsewhere. I'm having an issue where talkspace has told me my insurance is expired, and canceled my appointments over 5 times. My insurance has been active and in network the entire time I've been using talk space. In order to work through this they want me to either pay for my sessions out of pocket, OR beg them via email to help me fix the insurance problem, in which it takes them 3-5 business days to respond. The responses are usually something robotic and unhelpful. Ive been successfully "helped" with this issue a few times but the problem continues to occur. Overall I don't think the people who run talk space actually care about you or your care at all, they just want your money. Very poorly run.

Insurance Scam at its Finest. The platform, process, introduction, and orientation are very appealing initially, but after multiple therapists who No-Showed on meetings, didn’t respond to messages ever (talk space has a “guaranteed response window”… pfft!), and being charged my account/ insurance without any response from customer service, I cancelled my membership and took it as a life lesson. It’s unfortunate that the company would be so reckless with individual’s mental health and those seeking alternative guidance in the world today. I’m sure I could’ve cycled through therapists and tossed away money until eventually landing on a good therapist, but if TalkSpace doesn’t care then why should I try. Very disappointing! If someone is seriously seeking betterment in their life with convenience, there are responsible apps out there. I switched a few weeks ago and it’s amazing! Someone should tell Michael Phelps about what he’s putting his name on.

Do not use TalkSpace if you urgently need support.. I recently lost my appointment slot with my regular therapist and thought I would give TalkSpace a try as it’s covered under my EAP program at work. I got matched with a provider relatively quickly, but it’s been over 7 days and I have gotten no meaningful response from my provider. I gave this feedback to my provider directly and got a very brief “sorry” in return followed by the provider asking what brought me to TalkSpace, which I had already detailed in a previous message. I’m happy I didn’t spend any of MY money on this but I’m extremely disappointed I wasted two of my EAP sponsored sessions on a service that has provided literally nothing it promises to provide. I would not pay for this out of pocket, nor would I recommend ANYONE who needs mental health care do so. If I could give this service 0 stars, I would.

Scammers. I like my talk space therapist- a lot. She is great. But this platform is run by people seeking to take advantage with those of us who want to better our mental health. I’ve been erroneously charged before and sought to remedy the situation and it took months before I could get my issue addressed (you can only email/in app message them and it says to expect a reply within 1-3 days; all the replies I got were let me forward it to someone else- for months!) Then they have changed their messaging sessions from 7 calendar days (5 days of replies) to a word count. Without telling anyone. They didn’t notify me of the change, they didn’t notify my counselor until after the fact either. It’s like that with them. Billing is always pulling some kind ridiculous stunt. Complete rip off. They do not seek to do their clients right at all. Not at all.

Scammy. I had a very poor experience with Talkspace at a time in my life that I really needed support. The first provider I matched with was pretty unprofessional in messaging and did not seem to understand how the program worked. I requested a new person, which made me lose my credit for a free introduction call. I tried multiple times to set up an appointment and was fully ghosted by the second provider after their initial response. I reached out to customer service to try to get a refund for $300 (because no one had let me know my new provider was “on hiatus”) and didn’t get a response until my third attempt — almost a month after I signed up. This turned me off from Talkspace forever, and I hope they are making substantial changes so as not to put their customers at risk.
