Huge downgrade in customer support. I’ve been using via for years and I absolutely loved it until recently. Over the last several weeks it’s been a completely different experience. Tonight the app “glitched” and ended my ride 15 blocks away from where I live at 2am. Neither the driver nor the passenger can contact customer service in real time anymore, so the driver just kicked me out of the car nowhere near my drop off point in the middle of the night. I tried to contact to via as I stood on the side of the road and my only option was to email them under one of their preselected customer service problems from a drop down menu. You might have guessed that random mid-ride software failures where they leave you stranded was not a choice. I should hear back from their customer service department sometime tomorrow. Back when they started this app you could actually contact customer service via text or phone right away and they would always fix problems and make sure everyone actually reached their destination. This is the second time the app has seriously screwed up in the last 2 weeks. I honestly don’t feel safe using their service anymore.

MAJOR SCAM!!! The one time there should be a minus starring system. The worst service I’ve ever experienced in my life, of any sort, hands down, cannot even compare it to anything, and I’ve tried, I’ve given it several chances! Drivers don’t pick up the phone, cancel after 15+ minute wait, one after another! Yesterday I waited two hours in the same spot after them switching one driver to the next that’s even further away, saying random times of pick up arrival, yet drivers getting further away continuously. This is a major SCAM, as ripoff doesn’t even begin to explain it. I’ve had one decent ride with them in two months, no exaggeration, everyone else has either flaked or was unprofessional, mostly flakes at this scam though, which doesn’t even make sense as it’s as expensive as Lyft or Uber, and even charges you various other fees.

Low price not worth the screw-ups. Of all the share-ride apps that I use (and I use plenty), Via is the absolute worst for so many reasons. For starters, they ALWAYS take longer than eta suggests, for pick up and drop off. Even if it’s a delay on THEIR part, they don’t always waive the cancellation fee— this one time it said my ride was 8 minutes away for 6 entire minutes and my cancellation fee wasn’t waived. The drivers are oftentimes rude— some examples are a driver not letting me sit in a front seat, a driver not turning on the AC at request (in the middle of summer) and lastly a driver outright driving away completely b/c he couldn’t figure out where to park for pickup (I had to run after the car!) Sure, Via is low in cost, but that doesn’t mean they should throw good customer service and reliable ride-share service out the window. I will no longer be using Via.

Unreliable, Inconsistent, Glitchy App and lazy. This ride share service is the bottom or the barrel when it come to ride share, You’d rather call the taxi’s phone number to come pick you up… Via drivers a unprofessional and lazy. Lets say you request a ride and it says its 18 minutes away, Unless that driver is a about there money (which 8/10 all drivers are not) you will be waiting longer. Drivers will stop and take a break in the middle of your pick up and now your 15 minutes behind because of their inconsiderate behavior. Customer support is average and pointless they tell you stuff you already are aware of… there so much more I could vent whats wrong with this app, but im currently waiting on an LYFT because ive had 2 via drivers cancel on me and the last one decided to delay my ride. If i could give this app a 0 or negative I would be so happy to, but they are going to get a one star just because it works. This service thrives on minimal effort which is really unprofessional and trustworthy

Great ride-share app. Ive been using via monthly for a six months. Great deal for ways to get around DC. Get the monthly script. I need to travel to work where Metros are far from, and busses will take too long. Drivers are usually good and get you where you need to go. The app sometimes takes longer for a pickup to happen, I assume it is based on driver availabilites and not being as big of a company as lyft and Uber. However, when doing a rideshares VIA has the algorithm down to a science (could use some work but I've seen improvements on routes and pickup points over the months I’ve been using it. The app itself can use some work but I'm sure they'll figure the kinks out in the near future.

Cool in concept, but unreliable. I've been using via for almost a year, and the service has gone dramatically downhill. In the beginning, a few mistakes every now and then were acceptable because it was a new company trying to establish itself. The service gradually got better over the first six months. For the past six months however, Uber has become a much more reliable carpooling service. The time estimates in the Via app are only accurate about 25% of the time. Very often, I have to request two or three different Vias to eventually get where I am going. This can be extremely frustrating when I'm trying to make a meeting or be on time for a dinner reservation. I've contacted Via about the issue and the only response I get is "sorry, we'll try to do better." If time is of value to you, my advice is to use Uber.

This app is garbage. I used this app for the second time today and call in a driver. This app automatically picks a location and makes u walk to your pick up location. First of all, I think that’s stupid. I should be picked up from my own location. Anyways, so I walk to the location I’m suppose to be and since there was snow and lots of call, I couldn’t identify where my driver was. So I called and it took the driver about 7-8 rings to finally answer. I was by a corner of two street. That’s where I was told to be by the app. Keep in mind it’s a normal street with traffic lights. In the traffic light , there a police officer waiting in red light. My driver says (on the phone) “listen I’m not gonna stop there because I don’t want a ticket because of u, so u have to move. Move somewhere else” and I’m like “what?” He then doesn’t even pick me up. I had to cancel the trip. Also In the car description , it said dodge but he wasn’t even driving a dodge. It was a van... horrible communication, horrible customer service, and this app does not seem safe at all. I’m going back to UBER or LYFT.

Most drivers great / app has many problems. I like Via “most” of the time. However, this app has many problems that need to be fixed. First, it drains your battery (about 3 percentage points per minute), so bring some backup juice if you need to use your phone. Second, it sometimes routes drivers in a way that wastes a lot of time (for example, I have been in Via about 3x when it told the driver to drive in a circle for no reason). Third, if you cancel out of the app instead of booking a ride, it will sometimes crash several times if you try to reopen. Fourth, if your driver, for some reason, doesn’t come to get you but doesn’t cancel you, you have to text support to get help so that you can book a new ride. Then, you really need to have a lot of buffer time. Finally, the time estimates are very inaccurate during traffic/rush hour.

Price increase. I used to be someone that would use Via all the time and recommended it to everyone. Since I live and work in DC I thought it was a great way to move around the city, specially with the Via pass for commuters for $149 a month. Unfortunately the prices have gone up significantly. To explain how the Via pass works: You pay a monthly fee that cost $149, with that they cover up to $8 of the ride, any additional charge you need to pay for it. I didn’t mind when the additional charge was $1 or $2. But lately I have been getting $14 or $16 as the additional charge. It’s also ridiculous to be charged so much money fo rides that you need to literally wait 15 to 20 minutes for your driver. It has become more unaffordable and in some way a commodity that doesn’t really benefit me as a commuter. To end my review I was almost paying $500 a month for Via ( almost a car) and at this point public transportation is waaaaaaaaaayyyyy cheaper. #byeVia

Good Idea, Bad Excecution. The Via app was a wonderful idea destroyed buy illogic. The idea of the rider AND the driver having an agreed upon meeting location is an system that Uber and Lyft have failed to perfect, but Via does it beautifully. Plus, the rides are justly priced, saving you money (unlike other ridesharing apps). Unfortunately, these are the only two good things about Via. Upon trying to get a ride, I realized that I needed to run an errand so I cancelled. The app notified me that I would not be charged for the ride, but there might be a small fee next time- which I thought was understandable. What I don’t understand is why I was charged THE FULL PRICE of my ride, PLUS the extra cancellation fee. I tried contacting Via, but I just recieved a reply saying that my email was recieved. And they don’t even have a phone contact number! Then, I read other reviews, and I discovered that you cannot get a refund, only ride credit. The absurdity!! Just as I was about to delete the app, smiling at the blue Via icon trembling on my phone screen, I understood that by doing so, I would lose the money stolen from me. So, Via, you win. But heed my words: as soon as I use up my ride credit, I will win the war.

Not possible to delete payment info. This app should receive zero stars. I installed this app and created an account during a visit to NYC on the recommendation of a friend. However, finding that Lyft was less expensive, I never did use Via and tried to remove my payment info before deleting my account and the app. When I went into the app to do this, I found that there is no way to delete payment information or an account. I contacted Via Customer Support and this is the reply I received: “I'm so sorry for any inconvenience. Unfortunately, there must be a payment method in the app at all times. You can add a decoy/fake paypal account or an expired card as a payment method and once you do that, you'll be able to delete the payment method you currently have and do not want to keep stored in the system. Once this is done, please let me know so I can proceed with the deactivation of your account.” I’d like the developer to respond to this and tell me why I should have to make up fake payment information in order to delete my real payment information from the app. I realize that I need to have payment information to use the app, but there should be a way to delete payment information for those of us who are intending to delete our accounts and the app from our phones. Keeping our payment information hostage is really a bad practice and makes this company liable if our accounts are accessed illegally. An answer, please, Via developers?

Flawed app. Unless you are unable to walk or take the subway skip Via. It used to be a great cheap way to get around. Now they detour so far to pick up passengers a 20 minute ride can take an hour. I was going down 11th Avenue and the driver was directed to cut East to 7th Avenue and get stuck in 20 minute traffic jam in Times Square. I get ride sharing, but that was ridiculous. And that wasn’t the first time. Subway, walk, Uber or Lyft for me from now on. I modified the rating to three stars because sometimes it is a very good cheap way to get around. And it is consistently cheaper than the competition. It’s just that way too often they route you out of the way into traffic that causes delays. Maybe it’s just you get what you pay for.

One to many chances. I have ridden with Via multiple times. So far over 50% of my rides have been horrible! Either the driver is completely lost, or they are rude. It seems like when I have written Via about this, which has been 2 times now I have received NO response! I kept giving Via a “second” chance to see if it could have just been the drivers I have gotten. I am getting confirmation that this is always an unpleasant experience. This ride I am taking today will be my last ride. How do you pass a pickup spot by 5 blocks? I just don’t understand. Maybe it is the lack of care. I do not expect a response because I have not received one before. Hard to believe, but I typically do not complain and can be easy going. My driver today, flat out ignored me when I asked if she was familiar with a certain route. I was asking because phone reception goes out and I want to be helpful. She simple did not even respond. Then I said “hello?”, nothing, finally I say “ma’am?” And then I get a look from her. Thanks...I’m done.

Zero Stars. I wish I could give zero stars. I started using this service over the summer when it was great. However in August 2017, this all went downhill. Wait times are always about double the estimate, poor routing results in needless time spent in the cars, drivers routinely do not speak English, and last night the topping on the cake: The driver ended my ride accidentally when he let another passenger out. Instead of admitting fault, he claimed I was in the wrong, refused to drive me home, yelled and harassed me. Customer service was no help. Instead of trying to reason with the driver to have him take me home, they told me get out and take a cab—not even an offer to pay for it. That is not the answer when it’s dumping rain outside and your driver made the mistake. Never using this horrendous service ever again and I encourage you to not fall for the prices. Even Uber Pool is better than this scam! Bye Via!

Great app for getting places.. Great app. It’s drivers are usually pretty good, and the quality of ride generally does not disappoint. Original Review with title: Add a cancellation button! Prevent Ride Steals! Either someone stole my ride, or the driver just inexplicably decided to mark me as picked up even though he hadn't -- but either way, I got a notification literally steps away from rounding the corner where I was scheduled to meet my Via ride, when I got the "enjoy your ride!" Notification. I was unable to cancel the trip (no option given in the app, and I looked!) as I stood in the pouring rain, watching my cab (via the app) move north without me, nor could I book another (as the app already thought I was in a ride). Before this happened, I loved this app and told everyone about it. It's often cheaper than both Uber(well, pre-drama) and Lyft and pretty comfy and quick. Add the cancel feature in (or a way to request refunds or make other complaints, like Uber has) and I'll up it to at least 4 stars (5 if match Uber's level for the trip options)

Heard a lot of bad things , but decided to go ahead and give it a try and I’m very happy I did. I’ve been using Uber for a long time. And it is not cheap. From work to home it’s little less then 15 miles. At 11pm getting an Uber it usually cost me btwn 45-50 sometimes 56 the most. With via which I used today for the first time. It cost me 29 bucks. Fast pick up , professional, and the price is amazing. I am definitely gonna be using via from now on. Because it’s great service and it’s cheap. With Uber even sharing a ride it cost 40 My experience with via was awesome and I’m happy I decided to try their service despite some bad reviews. 😃

Getting worse every day. I’ve been using Uber, lyft for years now with Via being a new service that I wanted to try. In 6 months of every day use, I can tell you this....Their service is really bad. Do not use it for urgent appointments, work commute, or anything important unless you wanna be late every single time. Wait times are so off. As other reviewers say, multiply it by 2 in 99% cases. Some drivers don’t know how to use the app even though it is simple so apparently the training is not proper or doesn’t exist at all. I was helping one driver with the app through out the ride because he didn’t know how to mark a person as picked up so he just kept looping around downtown. Some drivers are just passing you by without picking you up or just keep driving in a wrong direction after you’ve waited for 15 min already. There is no call or text button as of recently so I can’t even call the driver to ask why is he driving in an opposite direction and if he going to pick me up at all. Yes, Via is half as cheap as Uber or lyft but the service is just terrible. They are not reliable. They need to get it together ASAP. I will be giving it up soon if they don’t improve and honestly I highly doubt they will.

I’d rather take the bus. The wait time for pick up is never accurate. As soon as you select a time for pick up, the app gives you an even later arriving driver stating “the driver is no longer available but we have another on the way!” Yeah, but by the time they get here I’ll be even later than I was originally going to be, and if you cancel, you get charged, but was I aware that it was gonna take that long in the first place, I would have never requested e ride. I also have a M-F commuter pass, and as soon as I got that, my normal $9 commute to work, increased to $11, & then $15, and today it was charging me $19 for less than a 20 min shared drive. And $32 for a private ride. Lyft only charged me $11 for the shared ride so I took that instead. How did I pay $100 for the commuter pass to save money, but since I’ve gotten it, the prices for rides have almost doubled. It makes no sense. There have not been surges that I’m aware of. Super frustrating app if you’re not in the center of DC.

Worst app for transportation. Its a cheap and affordable way to get around the city. There are many reason why I am finally takin my service somewhere else, one of the biggest reasons are the times to wait for the drivers are inconsistent, the app says that they’ll be here in 10 minutes, but ends up taking 30 to 40 minutes before they place you in another vehicle. I don’t mind waiting past the stated time, but it was more than 25 to 30 minutes. This has happen on more that one occasion and unfortunately the final draw. I get it, that the app was new, but it’s already been in my city for two years and I’ve noticed that nothing has changed. Maybe it’s just where I’m located, but I am upset due to its potential to be a decent app for transportation. The only reason I am giving it a star is for the customer service provided when running late thus giving a full refund.

Somewhat convenient, but…... I enjoyed the rides and they were very convenient when I was in the area, but it was a pain when I had to get in the area when my school was right around the corner (but a very tedious walking distance). Some of the drivers were willing to take me there regardless of me not being able to pinpoint anything in Webster Groves on the Via GPS, which is why I gave it 2 stars, but the other drivers took me as far as the Via GPS would go and barely more, even though they were seemingly allowed to go further. Then my 2nd issue, which is even bigger is……….I left my wallet in one of the Viacles (didn’t have money in it at all)………..but now it’s gone. What’s worse is that I called them for so many days and talked to so many different people just to eventually find out that my wallet wasn’t it their vicinity anymore (they customer service got extremely tedious after a while, so I tell you, PLEASE DO NOT EVER forget to turn around and check the seat before you leave the vehicle, PLEASE, because it is not worth not looking. It was my fault of course, but honestly, they could’ve helped me out and got it back to me). Oh and p.s. if you lost something, don’t try to email them, because they likely won’t respond at all.

Save time, order an Uber. I ordered a Via to the airport and was told it would arrive in 9 minutes. I walked to the meeting spot (yes, they did not pick me up at my input location) when there were two minutes left. For at least three minutes, Via said the driver was two minutes away. It was raining and very early in the morning, so I tried calling the driver to check his ETA. He sent me straight to voicemail. I could see on the map that he kept driving around in circles. About five minutes later he called and said he would be arriving soon to take me to a different airport than I had input, and I had to correct him. A few minutes later he canceled the ride altogether. Via automatically ordered another ride which was going to take another ten minutes to arrive. Thankfully, Via said they would waive the cancelation fee for me canceling the ride 😂. Obviously, when trying to get to the airport, there is no time to waste. I ordered an Uber and it was there within 5 minutes and the driver knew exactly where he was going. Not worth standing out in the rain for, save time and order an Uber.

Affordable, efficient, not the fastest. I've had a great experience with Via since moving to Manhattan. Of course, it's not as quick or direct as getting your own car, but if I'm choosing between other ride shares on Uber or Lyft and Via - I almost always go with Via, mostly because the price is unbeatable and I think their routes make a lot of sense. I've never had a nightmare scenario (Uberpool, yikes!), and from my conversations, it seems like the drivers are paid a solid hourly rate, which makes me feel better about the whole thing. Crazy when it's cheaper than the subway! I mean if there is, traffic the MTA is usually the better option but that's just NYC.

Didn’t tell the whole truth. I saw they had a viapass but saw it said Manhattan, so before purchasing I emailed via and asked if I could use the pass in Queens, Bronx, and Brooklyn. The representative told me that it does cover it and just to make sure I gave specific locations which he answer yes it does cover it. I said great and I purchased a week viapass to give it a try. I ordered the car (which takes forever to get to you) I didn’t notice anything unusual because I’ve only used via once before. I didn’t know what it looked like to use a pass so I confirmed a ride. Come to find out it does not cover boroughs. It only gives you a 10% discount. The representative failed to tell me this when I asked him twice. I took two rides. I rarely go into Manhattan. So I was changed the two ride (-10%) and the weekly pass which is around $70 so in total I spent $100 on something I was lead to believe would give me 4 rides a day anywhere in New York. I contacted customer support but have to wait up to 48hrs...very bad experience.

There’s so much wrong I don’t know where to begin.. If you like or enjoy being early, don’t use this app, let’s start there. Drivers DO NOT pick you up and drop you off at the locations you choose. They say its to make things easier but today after months of being frustrated with Via I’ve reached the peak when the driver picked me up 3 blocks away from my location with barely any time to get there. What’s worse is that they start to charge you extra money when you aren’t there. I only had 4 minutes to get to the location 3 blocks from me in the cold. I’ve used this app to pick me up from work several times before as well so you could imagine my confusion why they didn’t even pick me up at my usual pick up spot if not my exact location. With this app you either get drivers who are really nice, speak to you and say hello when you enter, but drive slow as molasses or drivers who are aggressive and still drive slow as molasses. How are you gonna be rude and still make me late. The pick up time is NEVER what it says and if you pay attention to the app it adds time without notifying you.

Going to stop using this for a while. Until I see improvements, I’ll probably stop using this app for a while... I dont know if its because I’m requesting a ride at a late hour or its just bad luck, but I would always get a notification that my driver cancelled before I’m either assigned a new one OR my Via request got cancelled altogether. Tonight I have this app one last shot and if it ever made these terrible re-routes or driver cancellations again, I’d stop using it. And it did. Tonight, my first driver cancelled on me, and luckily I got a new one...I didnt mind at first how my replacement driver parked a block away from my pickup address. But when he missed an exit and then the app gave him these roundabout routes (the app told my driver to take different highways that almost guided him in the wrong direction or making unnecessary exits), that’s when I told my driver to take a specific exit that would easily take me to my destination. And then the app tried to make him take a different route that guided him away from my destination...The app even told him to take an opposite turn despite my destination being so close by! My driver apologized though, and I wouldnt want to give him 1 star. He’s def deserves a 3 star rating at least.. the low rating is most def for this app lately. I never had these kinds of problems back in Feb or March.. I’ve honestly become very disappointed with this app.

it deserves 0 stars. i have had way too many bad issues with via and ive been using it for two years now. this is the most inconvenient ride share app ever. if you need to go to work, you have to at least order it an hour before you need to be there because you will be late. not only does the app pick up random rides when someone is about 30 minutes away without the driver confirming it but someone these people CANNOT DRIVE. today i wanted to come home from school. EASY. ive been picked up here a billion times. but after standing and waiting for 20 minutes, the via is near my school im happy but then they continue to go the wrong way TWICE. they need people who can actually use their gps and maps because i swear its not that hard. thought this was gonna be a cheap and convincing way to get from point a to point b but this app is so inaccurate that it hurts. they never drop me off exactly where i need them to. they've dropped me off in front of random peoples houses down the street from my house on multiple occasions. i rather spend an extra $5 for a uber if it means i get a better experience through a rideshare and thats that.

Awful Billing and Service. I first tried Via in Washington DC this summer and it was great. On my next run with a Viapass I found the service had completely deteriorated to the point that Via was not a good option for any of my commuting. Estimates for pickup times are wildly optimistic and often they just cancel the driver and put you with a new one when the driver is already running late. I’ve had several recent experiences of being delayed 15-20 mins waiting for a vía that never came and then doing something else. Based on this bad experience, I figured, oh well, lost the money I spent on this month’s pass, but won’t sign up again. Then, today I found Via automatically billed me for a new pass. I had disabled auto billing months ago. I guess one time when I deleted the app they reset that option. So misleading and shady! Don’t waste your time or money with Via! Don’t give them access to your billing info (which, by the way, you can’t delete from the app). This is an all around awful company. Stay away!

Loved it before covid HATE it now. I’ve used via for several years now and pre-pandemic it was great! They have since made all rides private which makes sense. The problem is they completely snd utterly changed the usage of the app. EVERY SINGLE TIME I use it now it always says 3 minute car available but takes several minutes to book so that they can then say “driver had to cancel but don’t worry a new one is ____ minutes away!” Now the really annoying part is that the minutes are straight up lies. Today I waited 40 minutes for a via that was originally “6” minutes away!! This is the longest this has ever happened to me but definite not the first (this currently happens every single time to varying degrees). I finally contacted customer support who told me the driver have been disconnected from the app so they would send me a new one... WHY DIDNT THEY TELL ME THAT BEFORE?!!! I’m just so frustrated with the horrendous quality of the app right now but I have hope for it going back to normal after covid!

A few REALLY bad experiences make this option terrible. Despite the price being the lowest, their efficiency and wait times are by far the longest. I’ve had 55% good experiences and 45% very very bad experiences. And those 45% experiences include everything from, wrong location pick up resulting in the driver canceling on me, very very very long wait times, rude drivers, very slow driving when you need to get to work on time, poor routing, changes in wait times nearly every single time, and wrong side of the street pick ups which resulted in me running through traffic so the car wouldn’t leave. Despite claiming they have a better navigation and better pay for their drivers their service consistently underperforms the competition (taxi cabs, Lyft, and Uber). Yes it’s cheap but as the saying goes - you really get what you pay for. They need to better handle peak hours and routing for pick up. I’ve stood on curbs with Via’s driving right past me. Routing is not better the WAZES or google maps which is pathetic. Think twice before using this. And if you do, make sure you aren’t in a hurry to get picked up or dropped off.

I love VIA!. It took me a little while to get used to setting Pick Up and Drop Off, but now it’s a breeze. I have been using VIA for over a year and have never experienced any of the bad things some reviewers mentioned. Yes, you have to build in little more time because it is a ride- sharing service, but longest wait time ever was 15 minutes. Most of the time it’s 6 - 8 minutes or less. I find the drivers are quiet unless you want to talk to them. I’ve never had anyone who was rude. You expect pickups/drop offs on the Avenues and sometimes the driver may turn onto a cross street, but when they say your car is here and you don’t see them, you can immediately call the driver (or they will call you) so you can find each other. You can go from Soho all the way to 110th Street for $5.99 + tax. You can’t beat it. I really love VIA way more than Uber or Lyft.

Good but needs improvement. DC Customer. I’ve been using Via for over a year in DC. I’ve seen improvements with the app. The estimated wait time has improved, but is still bad. I expect to wait TWICE as long as the app says. The estimated drop off time is always wrong. I expect to be dropped of 10 minutes LATER than what the app says. The routing is TRASH. It often leads me through more traffic. The cars are ok. The drivers are ok. Most are not familiar with DC and follow the poor routing. The pricing has gone up and up. That is pure garbage. While it’s still cheaper than other ride services, the price increases are unwarranted because there are in minor improvements in service. The worse thing about Via is not knowing where you’ll be dropped off. That level of uncertainty is a travesty. Riders need to know BEFORE they book the ride. Actually, the worse thing is that Via doesn’t go to ALL parts of the city. DC is a small city. There is no reason why we are limited to a small section of it. No reason at all. Overall, the drop off uncertainty, long wait times, poor routing, inexperienced drivers, and limited service it makes Via seem SUBSTANDARD. HOWEVER, I like Via a lot. A. LOT. It’s affordable. And that is huge. The affordable ViaPass is crucial to my happiness. It takes me where I need to go. I recommend the service, and hope for speedy improvements.

Great service ignore bad reviews. The service is really good. A lot of the bad reviews don’t understand how the service works. They don’t pick you up exactly at your location, they pick you up within two blocks of your location to improve the routing for everyone. The same goes for drop off, they drop you off within two blocks of your destination. in my experience it’s usually within a half a block if not the exact spot I wanted to go. Yes occasionally I’ve had a weird driver, but I’ve noticed these drivers are few and far between. The review system on the drivers really does help them get rid of bad drivers. 👍. 🤓!

Unbelievable. I enjoy the cheap ride fair, but they never drop me off where I pinpoint to im always having to walk a certain distance to get where I need to like if I wanted to walk I would’ve done do in the first place. The app makes it so hard to get back in when u log out I write down all my passwords so I never forget them and when I go to redownload the app and log in with the password I kept it says “the email or password isn’t cutting it” I tried all the passwords I could have possibly used none of then worked, I even tried to log into my sisters acc so I decided to try and do forgot password they sent me a temporary password to use bruh not even the temporary password works like whats the point of having an option to forget password if the temporary password they send doesn’t work either the app is trippin or whoever coded this app has a few bugs to fix

Hopefully on its way out. It used to be competitively affordable but I’ve been tracking Uber/Lyft/Via prices the past week, and Via is consistently more expensive. On top of that, their navigation system is horrible, I’ve waited close to forty minutes for a ride a few times, and their drivers are more than likely subpar. I’ve had drivers on the expressway, looking for pictures of vape pans on their phone that they were trying to sell me. Today, it took me an hour and fifteen minutes to go six miles because the driver was so slow, not reactive to changing lights, and was in other people’s lanes. Via runs deals every once in a while that are good but after a few rides with Via, the promotional price (50% off right now), isn’t worth it. Going downtown, public transit would’ve gotten me to work faster and I live next to the expressway lol!

Is it worth the wait?. I love the concept of the service. It’s a great idea if it works, but in this case I’m giving it 1 star. Via needs a higher standard for hiring drivers. Some of them are great but far too many are downright scary to drive with. It’s a crap shoot as to whether my 12 minute ride will be a roller coaster or a chauffeured limo where I’m not holding on and hoping we don’t hit another car. Also, the wait times are awful. They say you’ll be picked up within 15 minutes on average, but it’s more like 40 minutes and that’s if you don’t get bumped to another vehicle which delays your trip or you get a text saying your driver is delayed and it tells you to cancel your ride if like. As I said, the concept is great but the transit needs to go in house or hire another company who can do it better and with integrity.

Too cheap to Lyft Private ride? Too frustrated with Uber Pool?. Via is the actually affordable version of a black car service while having the proper navigation system that gets you where you need to go. I’ve taken Uber pools before where I’ll be heading home when all of a sudden a pickup pops up on the opposite end of the city-basically getting me home an hour later than if I had just taken public transit. Via has the best navigation system as far as I’m concerned. Pickups are actually on route to your destination so that you waste little to no time picking up other riders while paying pool prices for private ride convenience. A+++ for via

THIS APP WILL ROB YOU!!! Check your accounts!. This is one of the most unprofessional taxi service app I’ve EVER USED. Via stole close to 100 dollars from my account because what they won’t tell you is that they have a PRE-AUTHORIZED charge for a ride that you may or may not take. I’ve got charged for rides I did not even confirm, I recently had only looked up a ride to see how much it would be, and they took the money for the ride before I had a chance to even confirm whether I wanted to take the ride or not and because it’s competitors have cheaper prices I did not take that ride but they proceeded to take that money out of my account for even looking up the ride, they took the FULL PRICE OF THE RIDE and it did not tell me or show up in my ride history. If you use via check you account, because they will steal from you and unless you contact them you will never, EVER get that money back, god forbid you do you will ether have to fight with your bank to get it orrrrr wait 48 for a email back by via because this app of THIEVES does not have a phone number for you to contact you haveeee to email them and then they will hold your money for a while and then you MIGHT get it back in 10 business days because if you could tell. I HAVE NOT GOT MY MONEY BACK AT ALL, THIS IS THE WORST APP I’VE EVER USED. DO NOT GET THIS APP THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU. You’ve been warned! 🤷🏽‍♀️

Will not let you delete card info. This company is a scam and I DO NOT recommend. As we all know, you are required to have one card on file at all times with your account. Sounds normal right? No problem at all. The issue comes in with Via not allowing you to remove an additional cards over that one default card that is required. So if you’ve used 2 or 3 additional cards, the app will not allow you to remove them. The app claims it cannot remove them due to “signal issues” but yet the app still manages to request rides and updates your location just fine with those same “signal issues.” Pretty crummy that want to hold customers financial information like that. I recommend sticking with Uber and Lyft. Trusted, tried and true. The little guys like Via are not worth it all. Much more trouble than they’re worth. Not to mention the issues with customer data, privacy, etc.

Awful and very INCONVENIENT Vanpool service. If you looking to get home as efficient and if possible fast, forget this service. Drivers aren’t efficient with the routes, even if they have navigation infront of them. They still go around routes. If you have expected arrival times… good luck to that if you actually get drop off as expected. Even if there is an expected time of dropoff, it would mostly likely get extended due to different circumstances, like a new pickup while enroute. And lastly, if your “fortunate” to get a driver who is from out of state (ex: NY plate) and depends on navigation apps, you’ll probably get to your destination even longer. Unfortunately, this scenarios are not hear says but rather my personal experiences multiple time and even consecutive rides. And lastly, if you require assistance through there “live chat”, good luck to you in getting a response right away… how is this assistance chat titled “live” yet you’re not sure if your going to get a response back even

Worst Drivers. They will accept your request for a ride, sit at a location for 20+ minutes, forcing you to cancel and find another ride; which I may add, you did not get your money back. When you go and try to report them through the website you have nonchalant, non-caring representatives that do not help you in anyway. do you now end abusing around $500 because I have to keep counseling as they all do the same tactic. They are not willing to fire anyone because nobody wants to work with them in the first place so they keep on hiring these bad drivers. Not to mention that a lot of them pick and choose on who they want to pick up and take them out of zone, inconveniencing you when you’re in the car. My best experience with via was probably in 2021, after that, everything went down hill. you better off ordering an Uber.

Terrible experience and couldn’t get any rides. I’ve never written a review before about an app or anything for that matter, and this is literally the worst ride servicing app i’ve ever tried. Firstly I couldn’t get any rides but somehow other people were getting picked up in via cars in front of me at the bus stop, so there couldn’t have been no rides available in the area when I saw plenty. Then I finally got a ride after 15 minutes of repeatedly tapping the retry button, but it seemed that the driver kept getting farther away from where I was and stopped moving for several minutes, then just when the ride was 8 minutes away from me, it got cancelled. So I frustratedly tried to get another one and each time I saw one available somehow the seat got taken, this happened over 7 times, I eventually got on a bus because the app kept saying it couldn’t find any available rides and when it did, someone apparently took it 1.5 seconds after it appeared for me. I would rate this app zero stars if I could. Very disappointed, I was recommended to try this app because it was more affordable than lyft and uber, but I’d rather take those than ever try this again, waste of time (literally). Don’t try via if you have to be somewhere important at a certain time. Thankfully I didn’t try this to get to work.

Ugh awful just don't do it. Horrible, I have never in my life written a review but I was so shocked by this experience I couldn't leave it unsaid. My first driver literally canceled the ride after waiting for no more than 2 minutes, he was on the wrong side of the street and it took my about that long to walk towards him. Not only that but by the time I got to him and tried to get in he wouldn't let me and claimed I was a "no show" even though I was standing right at his door. It was raining so hard and it was so cold and he just drove away even though his car was empty. I just called another car cause I was so tired and cold and it was almost midnight. This second driver was silent the whole ride and barely acknowledged my presence and then refused to take me all the way to my destination and left me like 30 blocks away. I ended up taking the subway the rest of the way. All and all, very unprofessional and just an exhausting experience. So much for trying something new, never EVER again, sticking with Lyft or Uber or literally walking.

I love Via. Via is my hands-down favorite ride-share app. The drivers are prompt, professional and decent-which is a necessity when traveling across NYC. Without Via, the transition to a new high school across town would have been a nightmare and a deal breaker -(given the current state of NYC subways). I also trust Via with my teenager -when she needs to get somewhere on her own. She was also treated kindly with a recent sports injury. Via support team is appropriately responsive in the rare times there is a glitch (even when it’s my my error). I recommend Via whenever possible to colleagues, clients, friends and family.

Hard to rely on. Via has some work to do, in my opinion. I use a rideshare to get to work, and have been frustrated by the WIDE variance in pick up times. When I search for a ride, it will often estimate something like 4min, and when I actually book the ride, it ends up being up to 17min! This means I have to be ready to head out to the curb (in case it’s ACTUALLY 4min), but commonly end up waiting for 10-15min. Frequently, in the morning commute, the app will not be able to find a driver. So, I can’t rely on Via alone - I have to have Lyft, Juno or Uber as a back up for when Via doesn’t have a ride. The reasons I have stuck with the app: 1. The low cost of rides and 2. The driving routes when an additional rider is added seem to be less disruptive than the experiences I’ve had in Shared Lyft.

Horrible experience. The app is confusing. You have to be very diligent about indicating extra passengers or they will not take you where you need to go. When you tell the app your location they make you do tedious walking in the heat to meet the driver. It is too hot right now in Texas to do any tedious walking but I digress. I told the app where I needed to go but the GPS had the driver drop me off across the street from my desired location. It was during the lunch rush hour so I was not going to walk across the busy street. Luckily the driver was able to drop me off where I needed to be. Lastly, on my pickup from my lunch spot the driver didn’t know where I was even though he drove right past me. I called and tried re-directing him but he gave up and cancelled my ride. Leaving me stranded. I had to call a LYFT to take me back to work. I recommend not using this app because it’s confusing and inconvenient.

Terrible customer service. I’ve been trying to resolve an issue regarding Via’s MyPass where I have signed up to get to and from work for $100 a month, but the app continues to charge me money for rides even after I’ve purchased the pass. I have been trying to work with customer service for over a week to solve the issue, but they have been unable to do so and have now stopped being responsive in any way. I was told that the location of my home was wrong but was reset on their end and to repurchase the MyPass – the same issue has persisted and now customer service is not responding to my emails. Part of the problem is that there is no customer service phone # for NY, so you are completely reliant to wait on email (oddly enough there is for LA, but they refused to connect me with someone who can help). Also when purchasing MyPass there is no way to manually put in the address.

They can rob you easily. I tried to get a ride through this app. They have serious issues first they kept saying the ride u request is not there any more and kept reloading .. when it finally loaded and I tried to book a message popped up saying ( something went wrong) so I tried to click again and got the same response . When I checked my bank messages I found that they charged me for the whole trip twice without even accepting it .. that’s a scam . They have no phone no to call only email and they didn’t reply . I am an international traveler and was trying to get an airport ride which u failed to do and not only this u robbed me not once but TWICE. Shame on you and I am telling everybody not to use your app under any circumstances even if they have to walk to the airport

Works OK with public transit, annoying details. In King County / Seattle, Via uses the Orca card, and works with employer paid Orca cards. This effectively makes Via free for me, so Via wins hands-down on price. There’s a few details though that are really frustrating. The vans are all-black, with blacked-out windows in the heat of summer and drivers never turn AC on, the van side windows don’t open, and drivers rarely if ever open the front windows. A <5m ride and you’re soaking in sweat. And if you’re sharing a ride, those blacked-out windows prevent you from seeing into the vehicle so you can’t tell which seats are occupied. Other passengers tend to get upset if you open their door because they can see you but you can’t see them. They need to ditch tinted windows and turn on AC by default and maybe use white vans instead of black ones so they heat up less.

Worse ride sharing app. When comparing Via to Uber and Lyft the navigation used is awful. 7/10 times the Via drivers have you walk extremely far from your selected pick up and drop of destination. Also, if they end up picking someone up they will go out of the way on your route to pick up and drop someone off. Adding about 30 extra minutes. I once had a Via driver get off the highway pick someone up and drop them off across manhattan. Besides the horrible routing, there’s always hidden fees. If I go to or from the airport it’ll charge me for tolls then the driver will take the toll free route. They try to make their prices seem lower than their competitors by hiding taxes and any additional fees. If you haven’t used this app or if your work commuter card doesn’t pay for public transportation I strongly advise you not to use this app.

Driver issues. I’m sure the service is good for most people, my first time trying it was with a friend. The pick up time wasn’t bad at all, about 5-7 mins waiting downtown is the average. Unfortunately that’s where my good experience ends. The driver was distracted the whole ride, she picked up a phone call from I don’t know who and proceeded to order an Uber for someone else. I don’t know if they were doing this to drive up competitor prices like Uber did with lyft. But that’s besides the point, the driver was super distracted by her phone and even swore when she saw the pickup price for the Uber order. I genuinely could not wait to get out of the car and complain to my friend about the experience. I will most likely never use the service, unless they hire drivers that at least care about being professionals.

Got scammed $15.. I got scammed $15 when I booked a ride while I had the $20 credit already on my account. I just signed up after using it on my friends phone with no problem and as soon as I went to order a ride it took $15 from my personal account. The service is good but the fact that it took my money from my card and no one in customer support could return it wasn’t ok.

Harassment. A driver from this company named Tataw N tried to force my girlfriend to give him her number. Today when she was waiting for her ride, she wasn’t expected to have him as her driver. When inside the car, she recognized him and started talking to her by changing his voice and she was scared. She called me to tell me the situation and I knew this guy was weird and wanted something from her. When arrived at her destination, the receptionist realized that the driver was turning around their centre for so long and he was looking at what my girlfriend was doing to see if she’s going to come out early. And the receptionist told her that this kind of situation never happened in Arlington Texas and she wasn’t safe. The name of the driver is Tataw N If you’re alone, don’t get in his car please.

Better then Uber and Lyft. Via is awesome

Cheapest way to get around in Manhattan island. Only 5 bucks and you could go to anywhere in the heart of Manhattan. But u can only use it from 9am to 9pm(can't remember the exact time)

Great ride. Car was clean. Smelled good and was playing classical music. It was a nice touch.

No way to delete your account. I am not using this app anymore and wanted to deactivate my account. Did not find any options on app or on the website. Reached out to app’s customer support, no reply other than automated reply. Please think twice before adding your personal information

Super expensive. You have to order your ride 15mins before leaving and it’s super expensive. $32 for a 5min commute... and $27 if I wanna do the same but shared... and I have to add more money if I want to add a friend.. No thank you.

No way to delete your account and customer service is unresponsive. I downloaded Via back in 2017 as a friend recommended I use it given its affordability. Between 2017 and 2020, I have used the app a total of one time. Now, in 2020, I’m trying to delete the app since I don’t foresee myself using the app in the future and would be more reliant on other ride sharing services. When I opened the app to see if I could delete my account and payment information from the Via system, I did not see any option to do so. I looked on the Via website to see if there were any options to delete my rider account and I found none. I took a look at the FAQs and there was no option to delete my account their either. I sent an email to customer service twice over the course of two weeks and have not heard from at Via, all I’ve received are automated emails that confirm my customer service request has been submitted. It’s a shame that I have to resort to a negative review to reach out to Via customer service and to warn others of this terrible app and terrible customer service. If you plan on downloading this app, know that you won’t be able to delete your profile anywhere on the app or website and customer service is incredibly unresponsive. The lack of customer service is astonishing and is the reason why I will never use Via again.

User onboarding is crap. Had to type all my infos

Not favorable. I dont know how it works in other major cities but in Washington DC this app is the absolute worse!!!! Due to lack of drivers and I had a friend take a via and it was close to her destination but then the driver made a whole U turn and took her out the way because a new driver got added last second!!! Never heard of that happening in any uber or lyft!!! The app is buggy and constantly gives the drivers the wrong pickup location.... if those were fixed and there was more marketing out here to get more drivers, then maybe just maybe i could find this app useful!!! P.S. I also had a driver cancel a via when i was stranded at a metro station and then via couldnt find another driver to pick me up and i had to catch a bigger name!!! Tried to deal with the app but major things need to be done ASAP in the DMV area

What Happened?. The algorithm for rides used to be better. The routes and drop offs would make sense. Via took surveys a few months ago, and now the service is poor. They’ll drive you around the whole city before it gets to your destination. You would think the routes correlate with the riders’ drop offs, and they USED to, but not anymore. This happened directly after riders took surveys. At the end of the day, the timing doesn’t bother me. You don’t order a via if you’re in a rush or trying to get somewhere in a timely manner. The only thing that’s convenient about it anymore is the price. That’s the only reason I continue to use it. I hope they fix it.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I’ve used this service for about a month as my regular way to commute to work I read of the subway. Not good, do not recommend. Horrible, non-sensical routing. Absurd to a point that makes one wonder what kind of people run this company. Rude drivers (with some rare exceptions) who come to pick you up at the wrong location, then leave you behind and then you get a message from Via saying the driver waited for me and because I was a no-show they charge me $3?! Then there was the day when right inside Battery Tunnel in Downtown Manhattan, the electrical system in the car I was riding started to fail and car came to a full stop in the middle of expressway traffic. Anyways, I do not recommend this service or this app whatsoever.

Via in Washington DC. I have had the worst ride experiences ever with via. 3 times, I have had the driver magically transport from a couple blocks away to my pickup on the app and “arrive,” however I have been outside waiting and looking around, and they are not here. After calling them several times, they do not answer and they simply wait out the 3 minutes before reporting me as a no show where I get charged and they get paid. I have several times told via support about this issue, they refuse to give me refunds and instead give me credits which I will not be using as this service is very disappointing. I would give 0 stars if I could. I thought the price was too good to be true and I was right. Go for double the price and use another app instead. A complete waste of time.

App takes a lot away from service.. It takes too long from when you order a car until a car is found. And when the app does find a car, if you don’t immediately accept it, you will lose the car. There should be a sound similar to Uber or lyft so that you don’t lose your spot. App is also very slow to update cars’ location so the estimated times of pick up are frequently off. One of the more frustrating aspects of the app is that pick ups can occur within 60 seconds or 15 minutes from ordering a car. The quick pick ups are sometimes so quick that you make folks wait in the car because you have just placed the order from your home, not the corner which you’re going to be picked up from.

Needs better customer service. When I first downloaded this app I was really impressed. Clean cars, kind drivers and a price that was great. But after one horrendous experience with a horrible driver who forced some riders to get off on an active highway, yelled at me, and even hung up the phone on us several times when we tried to locate his vehicle. I contacted customer service. They didn’t respond and when they did they just gave me a 10 dollar credit to keep using them. If you have a bad experience do not expect them to care, they will simply send a canned response unlike other ride share apps that take complaints seriously.

Good but real quality issues. I’ve got to walk a few blocks to get to a pick up zone. I’ll drop the pin, but the app will move it around the intersection. The problem is that in LA, there are big no stopping zones and other considerations- stuff I know that the app doesn’t. I’ve had drivers call me to sort it out, and they sometimes don’t speak English. At all. Don’t fire the drivers, but the app should at least try to match language skill. Drivers also tend to be blasting music since there is no rating system that I can remember. Great concept to partner with Metro here- can be made even better.

LOVE this app!. Okay I NEVER write reviews unless I am mad or something but this app is AMAZING! The same rides on Uber and Lyft cut in HALF! And if you share the ride(pool) it’s so cheap! I don’t see why anyone would use Uber or anything over this app unless you are going somewhere out of range! But if you are going local, please download VIA! You will not be disappointed. Uber charges you when you miss your ride, Via refunded us without us even asking when my phone died after I booked a ride and missed it! I love this app! 10 stars!

NEVER RIDE WITH VIA. they dropped me AN HOUR AWAY from my destination in NYC! wouldn’t give me my money back because i completed the trip as if i was supposed to jump out of a moving vehicle. i was in NYC for my first time trying to get to my airbnb. they blamed me for putting the wrong address in... FALSE! i had one address that was my airbnb’s and it was ONE HOUR away from where they dropped me off. my driver picked up another person and told me that it was my stop. that’s why i was dropped off prematurely. can’t get your money back though because i was in the car the whole time!!! sorry for trusting the driver to take me where i needed to be and not knowing where i was in NYC. just share a lyft, you’ll end up needing to anyways.

Locked out of account with no support whatsoever. I just bought a commuter pass and when I logged back in to use it, I was blocked and received an error message that there was a billing issue. The funds have come out of my account and there is no issue on my bank’s end. Worst of all, there is NO way to get immediate support to get this issue resolved. The error message asks you to EMAIL customer support, whereby you get an auto response that someone will reply within 48 HOURS! I have never seen such poor service and will be canceling my account and advising everyone I know to not use this horrible service. What good is a rideshare service if you can’t even use it? This is an amateur company and it operates like one.

Drivers need to follow the rules of the road. This ride service is great for areas where transportation is lacking. However, my issue is that I’ve often seen them in areas where public transport is easily and readily available. Additionally, they’re the worst drivers, worst than the jitney drivers in my area. They pull over to pick up and discharge their passengers is such a haphazard manner. This is done typically without any consideration of rules of the road, other drivers even mostly blocking egress for other drivers. Horrible! The others day a driver literally stopped at the intersection to discharge a passenger after making a left turn blocking the ability of other drivers to follow the flow of traffic causing them dangerously block the road!

Needs to be better.. My experiences with this app have been terrible. Via pre-charges for rides even if you cancel them because their drivers are driving them in the opposite direction or etc. The money takes DAYS to enter back into your account. This problem absolutely needs to be solved because I'm seeing so much money exiting my account for rides I've never taken. The issues of the customer service and inconsistency with the app, as well as their payment method truly outweigh the low prices. Lyft and Uber offer much better customer support and service as well as more consistent payment and more efficient drivers. Please do better :( I want to like this service.

There are much better options. My main problem with it is the app. The drivers are great! They try their best to get to you, and they almost always get 5 stars from me. The app, on the other hand is terrible. Let’s say you want to go to a place that is a 10 minute drive away. It can take as low as 14 minutes to almost an HOUR to get there. It is inconsistent, annoying, and it has made me late countless times. My advice, if you want to use this app, call your ride 30 minutes plus how long it takes to drive there from when you need to get there. That seems to be the balance. If you don’t want to ever be late, add 10 minutes to that. The customer service? From what I’ve seen when I rated this, the top 5 ratings were 4 ones and 1 two. All of them with service issues, and not ONE reply or any feedback. None of them has had updates or edits telling what happened. Some of these ratings happened 1 YEAR AGO. Overall, good idea, good drivers, horrible customer service, inconsistent and bad app. There are much better options.

Good but needs improvement. Used the service a few times and okay so far. I live and work on a corner so the furthest I’ve had to walk was 2 blocks. First driver had to stop to use the restroom and kept talking about how bad he had to use said restroom. It was a bit awkward. What I really despise is the app. You should be able to see other riders that are being picked up and where they are being dropped off if before you. Can’t rely on the ETA because it changes with each new rider. Purchased a ride credit and would consider purchasing a pass if/when the app gets updated.

DO NOT USE. THIS APP WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND THEN DENY IT.. The day after my friend referred me to Via I started seeing a bunch of random charges on my credit card despite the fact I had never taken a ride. When I alerted Via they researched the case and said that “someone must have gotten my credit card info and created a new account” and they refunded the charges. It seemed very fishy that someone would have stolen my card info that day and then only used it for a relatively obscure app so I did some investigating on my own. The friend who referred me mentioned that she had gotten a refund for her last few rides so we compared charges and it turns out that somehow the REFERRAL LINKED OUR ACCOUNTS VIA WAS CHARGING BOTH OF OUR CARDS FOR ALL RIDES THAT SHE TOOK. This app is stealing money and denying it, don’t trust them with your credit card information.

VIA has become my favorite!. Hello: I'm from New York City and have used the "Big 3" car service apps for several years now. I used to rotate through them depending on which one was giving me the best deal at the time. But now, I'm using Via 90% of the time. Via is the most competitively priced, for pools, and the drivers are much more professional. What do I mean by "professional"? Via's drivers drive for a living; they're not a bored college student that drives for nine hours a week and makes you listen to some awful music at 120 decibels while whispering, "What's your name?" Thank-you.

Was great now 🤷🏽‍♀️‼️. When I first started using this App I was it’s biggest fan. Even over the years as the prices increased and service started to deteriorate I still recommended the app to friends and family and continued to be a big fan. But over the past year and a half between the prices and the fraudulent activities of the driver I can’t do this anymore‼️‼️ I was standing in front of the building watched the driver drive by sit at the light send me an alert that my ride would be leaving soon take the light and put my ride in progress. If this was the first time ok but it has happened on many occasions I am so over via my last ride will be when I spend my last bit of ride credit Bye Via 👋🏾

Good service, disappointing app. The rides I have taken have been pretty good. Pick up and drop off locations are pretty close and timing is pretty good. The app itself seems outdated. I wish it was similar to the Uber app where you could see more info about your ride such as how many people your riding with and were able to share your ETA and ride with contacts so they could follow your ride. Plus it would be nice to see details of your current ride again during your ride. And if your using different payment methods it would be nice if you didn’t use ride credits first.

Do NOT USE THIS APP - walking is quicker than waiting on via. I have had constant problems with Vias arriving 15+ mins late or there not being any drivers available for 10-15mins at a time. I paid for the monthly commuter pass to make my commute to work quicker and smoother, but I am constantly late for work even though I’m calling a via 15-30mins before I would need to get on public transit. After a particular nightmare of a ride yesterday (I waited nearly 45 mins for a ride that was supposed to be 4 mins away and ended up being nearly an hour late for work) I asked to cancel my monthly pass and be refunded the cost. Via is refusing to do this. DO NOT USE THIS APP. Public transit is 100x more reliable and that is insane!

Via is the people’s app. My drivers for via are always nice, friendly. They take pride in their work. Their company treats them as human beings, and in turn they treat the customers the same. With other apps you can watch drivers choke; how could they not? They have boots on their throats. Thank you for paying your drivers a living wage. And I’m guessing you screen, because I’ve never been hit on awkwardly (looking at you, Lyft). Your practices are fair, and it shows in the work.

Watch what you’re agreeing to when you agree to use the app ….. I haven’t fully read the complete lengthy user agreement but I did notice that in it is a provision that if you are killed, injured or otherwise suffer damages while using the municipally-affiliated Via service you cannot take your complaint to court and have it heard in a trial before a jury; instead by using the app you agree to have your complaint settled by an “independent” (yeah, right) arbitrator in New York. This is not anything a citizen of Arlington, Texas (nor any other Via-served town) should have his or her civic leaders force them into in order to use the town’s only public transportation service.

DRIVERS TEXT AND DRIVE / LEAVE WHILE ON THE PHONE. This is by far the worst ride share service ever. Sure they are cheaper but the the quality is beyond unprofessional. I caught my DRIVER TEXTING AND DRIVING. When I confronted him he responded aggressively “ I’ve been doing this for 18 years I know what I’m doing” when I reported this to via they gave me a 5$ credit for my troubles. A few days ago I confused my pick up location and when the driver called me I realized I was on the wrong side of the street. WHILE ON THE PHONE CROSSING THE STREET HE LEFT. I decided to call Uber a much more reliable service and while waiting on the corner of the street I was harassed by the police. I now have to show up to court because I got a ticket and via only offered a 5$ credit. You can’t even reach them on the phone. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND TAKE UBER NOW.

Great Service - when it’s working. I’ve been using Via for a couple of years now and enjoyed it. In the past few months I’ve been getting a message - Right now there are no cars available please try again in a few minutes. I try a 2nd time and get the same message. So I end up taking a cab. This has happened more frequently lately. I heard on the NYC news they want to restrict the number of drivers for car services. This will only make it harder to book rides. When I first started using Via a few years ago I never had a problem getting a ride, now I’ve got credit sitting in my account that I have trouble using.

Rarely dropped off at exact location but occasionally cheaper. 90% of the time I am dropped off at least 2 or more blocks away from my location, unlike uber or lyft which gets me near to my drop off or exactly there for most shared rides. Only really cheaper for short distances. For longer distances I'll try my luck with uber to be cheaper. Appreciate the $10 ride credit I get for people who download via when I share them my link though. Cars clean and better than uber or lyft so far. Aside from distance of drop off to location, service has been mostly good.

Service has gotten worse. Lately I have encountered REALLY long wait times. Such as the app estimating 11 minutes and waiting an hour. I have encountered several 30 minute to 1 hour waits in the last month without a good way to cancel and get a better positioned car. Via’s general response is that delays occur from traffic and road conditions, but that doesn’t explain cars driving in the opposite direction for 30 minutes , or cars taking extended trips to another state! Unfortunately the app has always been a bit quirky, slow updates from the server that make it difficult to determine when a car was arriving and the navigation that drivers receive from the app can be peculiar and inefficient. In addition, there have been times during long (30) minute waits that errors from the app or server have prevented me from contacting a driver. I’ve used Via for a year, and most recently have used a commuter pass for three months and have gotten to know many of the regular drivers. When a ride goes well, it’s great, however there is a big downside if there are any delays

Great…when it works. I have used Via at least 20 times over the past year. When it works as intended, it is great. That happens about 50 percent of the time. There have been problems when waiting for a driver. There have been at least four times that I clearly remember where I ordered a ride and then the driver starts going the other way. Today I used Via. There was a 20 minute wait. It took 30 minutes. When the driver picked me and another passenger up, the navigation had us going in circles. We were able to figure it out on our own. We added another passenger in the small SUV. With the SUV already full, the driver got another request. On my ride alone, she had to be on the phone with VIA support twice. I don’t think these are an anomaly but more systematic issues. I do sometimes get drivers who hand hold their phones while navigating. All Via drivers should have phone mount devices.

Lies about Available Rides/Wait Times. I use Via in DC and typically buy the month long pass but will no longer be doing so. The app used to be great when used in prior months, but now it LIES all the time about available rides and wait times. Also the surge charging has become extreme and no longer makes this app economically favorable. Why use Via when Uber/Lyft pool is quicker and same price or cheaper. Everytime I attempt to book a ride I get an error saying the ride I was trying to book is no longer available and I must now wait for the next ride that was available on the list. Happening every now and then is ok, but when it starts happening on a DAILY BASIS with almost EVERY RIDE except odd hours ones - it is unacceptable. Via you used to be good and worth it, but not anymore. You just lost a consistent customer

THIS IS NOT IT. DONT & I REPEAT DONT USE THIS APP UNLESS YOURE READY FOR THE BS! They literally hire any and everybody, on more than one occasion my driver did not speak English and therefore it was hard to communicate the pickup address and I got a no show fee that took 2 days to get debited back to my credit card. Also the ease of cancelling the ride is not the same as other ride sharing apps. They take the money off your card and if you cancel the ride, you have to wait 3 days for the money to come back on your card and they will charge you again if you take a ride. This app is only for the people who have time to waste money on ridiculous ride sharing prices and have their money on hold when rides are cancelled. This app has inconvenienced me at the worst times and it’s no good. I will be switching to Lyft

Disappointment. This app is crazy, the pickup time is never under 5 minutes all the wait times I’ve had were 11,13,15,20 minutes and I don’t mind the walking to my ride part but when there is no one else joining my shared ride why are you still dropping me off a block away from my home. I tried contacting customer service and the response I got back was so unprofessional my jaw dropped. They told me if I don’t like the app then ride with someone else in those exact words it’s crazy y’all have to do better

You for what you pay for. Don’t use app after 10.. Yes at times the rides can be very cheap for the distance ($5.50 usually). But this is a not an all to use after 10pm as rides are impossible to find or your wait for a ride will be longer than hour trip. Multiple occasions I’ve ordered a ride and it said my driver would meet me in 25 minutes. Also sometimes the driver won’t get the notification that I need to be picked up and just drive in a different direction to pick up another client or to simply go home as. The app needs some tweaking on the communication between drivers and passengers, the system malfunctions way to much. The app is completely unreliable. I rather spend $4 extra on uber or lyft because at least I know i’m getting quality service.

Best way to get around NYC. Period.. Not only is this the most economical (and un-frustrating way) to get around the city, it's also super consistently the most pleasant. I'm psyched it's now 24-7—and while there was a slight dip in quality as they scaled it's absolutely back to top tier quality. One of the few apps that would genuinely transform how I live if it disappeared. Best part of all? Drivers are paid a flat rate salary, so they can plan for a consistent income and there's no bait and switch around what they'll be making versus spending.

Via changed my life ( no joke). I used to take the train to work as most NYCers do. But is an unpleasant experience. A friend introduced me to VIA and now for only 5$ I get a comfortable quiet ride with full access to internet since I’m above ground. I do get to work earlier now to avoid traffic but that has also been great - getting work done before everyone else come in. Sure there is the occasional mix up but via almost always credits my ride if something happens. Great customer service.

Great VIA driver.. This driver has an obvious strategy to keep his cab safe and knowledgeable. When he picked up another passenger he kept letting us know “there’s another passenger coming up on your side” which allowed us to move over and make changes quickly and smoothly. I have opened doors to see someone sitting there, looking back at me as if to say “what do you want?” and had to go around where traffic is active. This guy should teach other drivers about safety and planing ahead prior to the next person entering, more importantly how to keep everyone happy. That little gesture made me happy. Great VIA driver seriously.

Burger King chronicles. It all started when we (my girlfriend and I) were in the drive through line at the local Burger King getting an impossible whopper because she’s a vegetarian. She accidentally ordered fries of course. We don’t really like Burger King fries because they sometimes resemble fries that you would see in a school lunch. While in line (at the Burger King) we noticed we were behind a vehicle with the branding of the hit popular ride share app “via”. The van itself looked amazing. Simple yet elegant. The only thing that really ticked us off was they WOULD NOT turn off their back window wiper!!! It very much annoyed us due to the back window already being clean! HOW CLEAN DO YOU NEED THE WINDOW TO BE AM I RIGHT?!?!? Anyway that’s all. I won’t give a van number or identification because I’m not a dirty snitch. Thanks. MUAH 💋

Via could careless about spreading Covid-19. This was the 3rd time that a rider was added to my ride without the allotted amount of seats for it to be safe enough to travel without the fear of spreading or catching covid from another individual. The second time it happened I reported it to support and was told “they were adding more passengers to rides in order to deter traffic.” So the health and safety of their passengers and drivers isn’t as important as reducing “traffic.” Mind you, this was happening in the midst of the ongoing pandemic. I thought the situation had been resolved since then, but clearly it has not, and passengers are still being forced to have to practically sit on top of one another. Via, do better.

Okay. I use it to supplement a few other different ride sharing apps. Via is good for when you are not in a rush or don’t want to spend money, that’s about it. Inaccurate wait times, hard to find pick up locations, drop off locations often inconvenient, programming systems deliberately takes drivers through the most congested streets when any local knows the quicker way to get there. It’s hit or miss but still only marginally more expensive and a lot more comfortable than the subway in NYC. Taking it to commute to work is a risk. Taking it on the way back from a long tiring day is godsend.

Unreliable/unpredictable. This app is pretty mediocre, it doesn’t let you rate/comment on the drivers that literally don’t wait for you, it’s horrible with retrieving lost items, I can’t add another stop within a ride, it def has some updating and catching up to do with its competitors. Idk how big this company is but they need to up their game if people are putting their lives in the hands of their drivers and there isn’t a decent way of contacting Via or the driver in case of an emergency except thorough email. I use this app because lyft and Uber are horrible with taking care of their customers, as long as Via ups their game at this.. I see myself using it for a very long time.

One of the original NYC Riders who has watched this company try to play in the major leagues.. When I say “Ride with Via” since it’s 5$ NYC inception I mean it. This is before they started to expand zones and hire drivers that are rude, before they added fleets of cars that might as well use a Sundials and Constellations for time and gps! Yesterday was my final straw! I cannot understand when I finally was able to contact the driver he, blatantly told me he is at the pick up spot on the corner of the intersection. HOW SWAY? when I was literally standing in the middle of the physical street twirling like Glenda the Good Witch looking for his non existing “blinking lights”. When he yells IM AT THE TRAIN STATION CORNER, YOU ARE NOT HERE!” I realized he is over a block away on a street not even designated in our cross street meet up “as per our App agreement”! In fact despite him hitting the switch on notifying my app “your via is here”, it clearly shows he was not! Then he hung up and app went “unavailable”. After 20 minutes, no car missing out on important life moments. After price hike after price hike. With less driver concern I’m over it. Via. Do better! Go back to great Suburbans and service.

Routing failure. The computer really screwed it up on this trip. We have four people who are in the car in the 20s by the Hudson river going to around 100th St. And West End Avenue. Are car route it to ninth Avenue from 11 Avenue to pick up someone going to Madison Avenue in the 50s. The car took forever to go across town from 11th Ave. to Madison Avenue, then up to drop off the passenger, and then of course had to take forever getting back to the Westside. This was a very poor and time-consuming addition to our ride tracking straight up the west side. We expect there to be other passengers riding with us with pick ups and drop offs but not to have a ride extend all the way east to then go all the way west when we’re simply going uptown on the west side. You need to do this better and make this right.

Affordable and fast. I’ve been using Via since launch and even though I was initially extremely impressed by the service, I’ve only become a more enthusiastic user as time has gone on. If you don’t mind walking a block or two out of your way, Via is by far the cheapest and best way to get around New York if there aren’t any subways nearby and (outside of rush hour) sometimes even if there are. I’ve saved thousands of dollars using Via instead of taking solo Lyfts and Ubers.

Goodness gracious. Where to start where to START I mean from the unprofessionalism of the drivers and the customer support team who literally gets paid to do NOTHING. I’ve been riding with via for a few years now and literally no issues have been fixed. What I can’t wrap around my head for the complete life of me is why?? The city pours so much into other things and ONE thing that was actually good for the community is garbage juice! The wait times are inaccurate I see drivers just sitting there which most times causes you to be late to your destination. I’ve lost a few items that were never recovered to me. It’s just a whole crap show that doesn’t get better! If you have another choice, spare yourself this tragedy!

I like it but would change a few things.. Easy to use, routes are good 80% of the time but sometimes routed through heavily trafficked areas. Also, some cars are too small and too packed for the amount of people they put in them. The quality of rider’s experience should be assessed. Just because you can squeeze a lot of people in doesn’t mean you should...the same number of seats in different vehicles can vary drastically in overall space and comfort.

😩😩😩. Good idea, but missed the mark completely. My Lyft wasn’t working so I decided to try Via and I’m unimpressed. I literally called friends to call rides for me to avoid using this app because it’s just disappointing and makes me late for everything. Calling a ride takes forever as you go through the process of putting in your addresses for it to tell you they’re too busy and make you start all over. Why can’t you just leave the addresses in and let me try again? For a shared ride, these are way more expensive, longer waits, and less available than private rides. Living in DC, a super active city, it’s a hassle to have to wait 20-25 min for each ride and then have to walk to meet them. There’s also the safety issue of catching them at night. As a young female living in the city, it’s not cool to have to walk 4 blocks at 2 am after a long night out. In Summary, this app needs: More drivers Closer meeting/dropoff spots Door dropoff for late night rides Shorter pickup times Cheaper shared rides More convenient interface

Customer Service: Get What You Pay For. Via is by and far the cheapest ride share option but apparently it's at the cost of customer service. My driver missed my stop and then my ride disappeared altogether from the app. I had to plug my address into the driver's personal phone so that they could get me home - cool. Did I mention this was at 4am, after a 12hr shift, and I didn't make it home until almost 5am when the ride should have taken 20 minutes. To add insult to and already injurious situation, Via's customer support team GRACIOUSLY applied a $5 ride credit to my account without even offering to refund. I'd be insulted but I guess that's what you get for trying to get home on the cheap. Lyft, I'm coming home baby!!

good idea, poorly executed. don’t get me wrong. via’s concept is great- $3 shared rides and they’ve even established an unlimited system where you can use up to four rides a day for a monthly fee. however the negatives heavily outweigh the benefits. it is very rare i get a car in under five minutes, the usual waiting time is 10-20 minutes. the whole idea of getting a car is to get to your destination quicker, but i can walk from new york to croatia and get there before the via arrives. they try to cover it up by reimbursing you, and as credible as that sounds it simply is not acceptable anymore. i write this in UTTER EXASPERATION as i wait for an UBER because the TWO cars i had already waited 30 minutes for had CANCELLED on me- and this isn’t the first time. i am beyond disappointed, to say the least.

Horrible. Below is what I emailed the Via team through their app. “You guys are horrible. I just downloaded the app and decided to give it a try as an alternative to Uber, but after 30 minutes of waiting for two different rides, being threatened with a cancellation fee if I tried to cancel one of them, I don’t think I’ll be dealing with your company ever again and will make a point to crap on the reputation of your company if given a chance. I called both drivers of both requests. The first one didn’t pick up after 3 calls. He called me back and told me he had no idea he had been assigned to pick me up and didn’t know I had been calling him. As we spoke he couldn’t see me and was in fact claimed he was heading in the other direction. The second driver never picked up at all after 4 calls, and I believe he hung up on me. I couldn’t cancel even though it was plainly seen on the app’s gps map that neither were moving. They sat where they where while I waited to be given permission to cancel unless I incur a fee. Just crap service.”

Worse Cab service. If I could give them 0 star ratings I would have. I requested a cab from 11:25 it says cab is arriving in 2 mins. I rush downstairs from the 11th floor (mind you I am pregnant) because I didn’t want them to drive off since they don’t wait on ppl. I kid u not, I waited outside in the for over 20 minutes waiting for the cab. I called the driver twice and he did not answer. The only reason why it I ended up staying outside that long is because everything I check the app it says 2 mins, then it goes to 1 min then back at 2 mins. It’s my first time going back to church in a long while, and thank to VIA I couldn’t go. If I had took the bus I would have just now make it to church. Very disappointed and upset.

Good prices bad drivers. Most of the drivers have no clue how to talk to customers or have a sense of direction. I have had drivers full on skip my pick up point and then claim that the app told them a different spot when I have proof of where they said they’d pick me up or have no idea how to work their navigation and tried to get Me to use their phone for them to get to my destination or answer calls for them. I’ve dealt with too much incompetence I can’t deal with this app anymore. It’s so frustrating having to tell your driver directions or he called dumb or stupid when you weren’t picked up at the designated spot and they made you walk to them because they were lazy to come pick you up

Great rideshare alternative!. Via is great because the rides are so cheap. Yes there is sometimes a longer wait time than Uber but I’ve find that negligible. The only main problem I’ve had with via is that I sometimes will be needing to go somewhere and they are at capacity so I will get a message with “all seats are full” or something like that. It’s very frustrating when this happens while you are in a rush! I think it’s just because I’m in DC and it is not as popular here yet. Either way I still have had great experiences with via drivers and will continue to use it.

Worst app I have ever used. This is the most terrible app I have EVER used. My friend sent me a first time user promo, so I decided to try it out. It does not let you see the wait time for a ride before committing, and you get charged even if you don't accept the ride. My first (and ONLY) ride never showed. Instead, he drove all the way to my destination without ever contacting me or cancelling the ride. And there is no way to get in contact with via or your driver. I was charged for my entire ride even though I never set foot in the car. And what kind of app doesn't even have a customer service number?! They only let you contact through email which they do NOT respond to. I also tried contacting them by text and was ignored there as well. Horrible app, horrible customer service. Stay away from this app.
