The Most Helpful Period Tracking App. I LOVE this app. Period tracking has never been easier and I’ve never felt like I understood my period and it’s surrounding symptoms better than I do right now. With their newest updates, I’m able to track even more and understand when what I’m experiencing has to do with my body and hormones. It makes me feel more confident and in control. I was really enjoying their birth control mode, but unfortunately they’ve temporarily disabled that function as they rebuild the app. Even so, they were extremely helpful in aiding me with my subscription refund (I had subscribed purely for the birth control function) and making sure I had access to their one year free subscription as they make changes. Despite not having the function I signed up for, I am still using the app because even just their period tracking is that helpful and good. Their predictions are always on point and I love all the helpful articles and information they provide within the app and newsletter that allows me to gain even further insight into my body. I always highly recommend this app to anyone who experiences a period or just wants to understand how their body fluctuates with their hormones.

Hurts to have to find another app. Seeing these reviews has opened my eyes to realize I’m not crazy for my thoughts below: It feels like some features have been removed completely and not replaced by anything useful for me personally. I’m not trying to conceive or near menopause. It’s great that these are available modes! But what happened to the birth control reminders? It was useful when changing time zones. And tracking symptoms is still clunkier than it used to be for those of us who need to track multiple days in one sitting. What happened to being able to lock the app behind a password or face ID? Also, all the main “features” feel like multiple ways to look at the same data about cycle length (calendar, analytics tab, cycle tab). The available health articles aren’t the most enlightening either. I can’t imagine how this app is without the subscription anymore, as the current available Clue Plus features should really be free. It’s giving me less value than I had for free back in 2016, when I started using it. I truly feel heartache at the thought of having to find a new way to track my cycle. I used to love this app dearly as it helped me so so much as a teen/young adult. Ugh!! 💔💔💔

Informative & Helpful. In my experience, this app is awesome. Best thing ever. I have endometriosis, which causes my periods to be extremely painful. The first day of menstruation for me is always the most painful, and the severity of the symptoms I feel then will keep me from going to school, forcing me in my bed, aching and wishing for suffering to end, which sounds funny and dramatic, but is reality for people sometimes, and it’s way not fun! Anyway, I’m getting my next period on Christmas day, so that is good to know. Christmas is meant to be a lazy family day anyway, right? Jokes aside, Clue is my favorite, and the people behind it, fueling the operation seem like good eggs, thinking of the betterment of society, helping women accept and understand the nature of menstruation and what can come with being a female. My hope is that this will only immerse us further into a world where it’s okay to talk about these sorts of things that happen to most of us. Breaking boundaries and destroying societal norms is what it’s all about, and the way they are helping people in doing it is RAD! If you have a period, get this app and thank the people behind it. Thank you, Clue organizers and supporters!!!

Amazing!. I suffer from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and have a number of symptoms throughout my cycle which can seem random, but Clue helps me understand patterns and recognize anything out of the ordinary that I may need to discuss with my doctor. I also suffer from anxiety, and the tracker for emotions and motivations is so helpful. When I have a bad day and feel like my whole life is going badly I can look at the calendar and see how many days I've marked as "happy" days. The other types of tracking are important to me for other reasons too. My mom died of ovarian cancer a year ago at a young age (early 40s) and I've since become worried about my health. My doctor told me that I should track my symptoms (i.e. any irregular pains) so I can have a peace of mind knowing that these problems are part of my regular cycle or something that needs to be checked. The only thing I would suggest to the developers would be to incorporate a section to track regular, daily prescription medications. I currently use another app for this but if Clue could find out a way to add it on then it would just be unnecessary. Either way I love the app and it constantly is getting better.

Amazing!!. I’ve tried a lot of different cycle-tracking apps and this is definitely my favorite!! However, I really wish that there was an option to indicate that you’re switching to a different brand of birth control! Also, I think it’s be nice if we had the option to arrange our days of the week according to the day of the week our pack starts on (so I start my packs on Thursday and I would like it if the weeks started on Thursdays for me). I think that would be nice, because when I went in to my gyno to switch birth control, she was interested in which week of my pack I was having the most issues and it’s really hard to tell if it’s set up like a traditional calendar. Lastly, there are a tonnnnn of options for tracking which I really love, but I know that one of the some women literally throw up for seemingly no reason at all (I, being one of them lol) and it’s be really nice to have that specifically! Because usually when this happens to me, I end up just saying I have the flu, but that’s not really accurate since there’s no fever! Anyway, I know that’s a lot, lol, but I really do love this app and and definitely think it’s the best that’s out!

Update-disappointment. Used this app for several years. I pard for monthly and was well worth it. I can no longer conceive so so I didn’t use the app for that However, the app provided much more, in understanding my cycle and my state of mind, so many aspects that I would have never connected. The ‘prediction’ was one of the very best parts of the app. Before when I started to feel sad I would think it was depression setting in which is terrifying. With this app I USED to be able to look at my previous cycles, all the way back… several years.. and see that this is the time during my cycle that I have these feelings. This kept anxiety down and helped greatly. Other examples I could go on with, it was a blessing to have. Now, for the past 2 months or so I am paying the same amount for the app but all my information logged over the past few years is gone. No predictions… I can log my symptoms but I don’t see the point if there’s nothing to compare it to. Emailed customer service 2 times asking when the info would be updated and restored (my personal logged info) should be available and the response was that the app is going through an update…blah blah. Tried to give it time but after much time and no improvement… thing is, everyone else that pays for the upgraded version is still paying and not one of us are getting what we are paying for.. so will we all get our money back for the past months? It seems only right since we aren’t receiving the benefits that we are paying for.

great app gone downhill. i’ve had this app for over a year and have very much enjoyed it until the most recent update. when the whole flow selling data thing was big, clue was the only menstruating app i liked that was mostly transparent. the only thing i use the app for is to track my period. i don’t care about logging symptoms, i don’t want to get pregnant or track pregnancy or anything like that. all i used it for was tracking my period. i mean, i don’t even mind when clue isn’t accurate and i’m early/late. i simply like to see how many days in between each period and how long my last one was to get an idea every month. however with this new update you have to pay to see your analysis. why? even if i had the money for $10 a month/$40 a year, i wouldn’t buy it. why should i pay YOU to see MY cycle analysis. this is MY period in MY body. tracking it through an app is much more convenient but if the analysis doesn’t become free again i will be deleting the app and all my data to switch to another app or start physically tracking it myself. i understand the need for profit, but now the only thing i can do is insert when my period starts which is not cool and frustrates me. paying $40 a year to see how long my cycle length is is absurd. i know i am not the only one who finds this incredibly frustrating and not right. please fix this. at the bare minimum, make the analysis free again.

More than anticipated. I got clue because I was having a difficult time remembering to track my period on my messy calendar. When I began using it, I found that it was very easy and straightforward to use with customizable tracking options besides just the period bleeding itself like emotional state, pain, ovulation, sleep, digestion, etc. I just wish that the exercise tab had more options to choose from. After using it for a few months, the app had enough data to show me patterns during my cycle which were very enlightening to me. By recording my daily experiences and looking at the generated patterns and predictions I have been learning a lot about my body that I was previously unaware of before. But my favorite thing about discovering clue is that the company provides articles on women’s reproductive health for free on many different issues, and that these articles are fact-checked and use peer-reviewed journal studies as their sources (and list the sources so I could look them up myself if I wanted to). These articles provide me with information I otherwise didn’t have access too or was too embarrassed to ask about like the many birth control options available, how they work, and their pros and cons. Definitely more than just a period tracking app.

Love this app (and a suggestion). I have used Clue for years and I love it! It has helped me learn about my cycle and take control of my healthcare needs in a way I’ve never experienced. The only suggestion I have is that I wish I could track pregnancy in it as well- as far as I know there is a pregnancy option but it basically shuts down projections and eliminates the data from that time in the analysis. I don’t want to track fetal development or anything like that but it would be great if I could track my symptoms and experiences associated with pregnancy without having to mark a cycle as inactive. I had a miscarriage last fall and as we have started trying to get pregnant again I have wished that data was more available so I could see patterns and trends on months when I was pregnant compared to months that I wasn’t. As it is, when you say a cycle is inactive it won’t show you what day you were suspected to have ovulated, etc. which would be really valuable in trying to conceive. I really do appreciate this app and the work you are doing on it- I just wish it could track additional information and normalize the pregnancy experience without skewing or losing data. Thank you!

Works great. I love the way this app works. It makes predictions for you (after a cycle or two it gets more accurate) and you can customize notifications to however you want them to be displayed. For me personally, it doesn’t work as well as it would for most women because my period is irregular, so the averages don’t work accurately. However, the functions on the app work perfectly and any issues I have are almost guaranteed to be caused by my own inconsistencies. I know my period isn’t ever going to become regular because of my genes, but it’s convenient to have all of my menstrual information in one place in case I need to look back at the dates during an appointment. Love this app :) HOWEVER. Because of my irregular period, the averages show that my average cycle length is around 46 days, which is okay and all, but because that number is so high, there’s a little icon with an exclamation point on it. If I click on it, it tells me I need to buy the subscription to receive more info. It makes me really frustrated!! Clearly Clue is trying to tell me something about my menstrual health that could be helpful to my situation, but I need to pay in order to receive that insight. It doesn’t help that the icon looks really urgent and important.

Loved this app until an add began popping up after every log. This app was marketed as the best free and privacy considerate period tracking app back when i first began using it two years ago. While i can appreciate and understand needing to promote the paid option to support the function of your Business, having an add pop up after every time I log my symptoms for a day is really damaging to my perception and want to use this app further. I dread logging now because i know I'm going to be "reminded" if i pay i can get xyz. But i cant pay which is why i sought out a free app to track my cycle , and i am happy with the app features i use and i just feel sort of bombarded with this push to pay for features i do not use or need. I am simply someone with a womb who wants to track symptoms and know what day i am going to start my period that i do not need to be reminded to upgrade EVERY-TIME i use the app to log a symptom. The rest of the functions of the app are already behind a paywall gatekeeping useful information from people who need an education not their bodies natural process capitalized. So please, as a compromise, can you cut down the adds on the free version of your app? Everything else is great, the app works flawlessly and all the features are amazing. You deserve to be paid for your work, but this new model for marketing the paid version is really off-putting and i hope it changes.

They changed so much :(. Update: cycle tracking in the apple health app is actually really good!! I like that clue shows your cycle as a circle but tbh I think I’ll be switching to apple health now. It’s also much more gender neutral/non-binary friendly. It really feels like it’s just a health thing whereas with clue it still feels gendered to an extent. Old review: I’ve been using Clue for about 6 years. It’s always been easy to use and a good way to keep track of my period. But the most recent update made it so much worse :( They took away features (like being able to see common symptoms from each cycle), completely changed their interface and tracking, made it harder to track stuff (before you could just swipe through each category but now you have to individually click on them), and got rid of the widget which I had just started using and found really helpful to see when my next period was at a glance. Plus it doesn’t even seem to have settings anymore?? And there’s no way to actually access your account details as far as I can tell. I’m disappointed. Anyway, I despise that I have a period. I wish I didn’t. I’m not happy about tracking it so I will NEVER pay for your app. I get that you have to make money but seriously leave me alone. I don’t want your special features I’m just using you as a calendar.

Great, if you're just menstruating. I like this app. I just started using it maybe 7 months ago, and even though I only had three pretty irregular periods, I was pleasantly surprised at how accurate the ovulation and period predictions were. It only took the first cycle for the next predictions to be shockingly accurate. It was very nice to have a discrete little banner warning me that my period was supposed to start soon. I love all the symptoms we can track, and the cycle analysis over time. Overall I would like to say I love the app. But I can't. Because I'm now pregnant, and there's no way for me to change my life stage to "pregnancy" from "menstruating" without signing up for Clue Plus. I understand and accept that Clue wants us to pay for the pregnancy information, but I don't understand why I can't even change my status (and effectively put my cycle on "pause") until I give birth. I feel disappointed that this excessively long "cycle" could skew the information they collected from the previous ones, making my predictions less accurate for a long time postpartum. I can't imagine how much more disappointing this would be if I had been using this app for longer. I also think it would help to add a "postpartum" or "breastfeeding" life stage, since you aren't pregnant anymore but those situations still effect if/when you menstruate.

The update was a kick in the face. I’ve been using this app avidly for a number of years, and I even had a premium account for a while. Well, I might move on, because this update is horrible. There doesn’t seem to be a way to turn off fertile window anymore- as a trans person with no interest or intention of ever conceiving, I don’t want to see that. It was a major draw to this particular app. Additionally, birth control reminders seem to no longer exist. Good luck to those who had been using clue to remind them of things. There’s no more notification settings, so I can’t tailor which ones I want, and I can no longer double tap on a day to add data. Plus, now you have to manually hit the “track” button for every individual item you track. Who wants more buttons to hit? Sleep now requires you to type in the exact number of hours of sleep you got, which… I guess is more precise, but it’s a lot more tapping. The one I thing I do like is more options for each individual thing you can track, but I miss being able to hide different categories I will never use. Sorry Clue, you don’t understand what your users want. And before you give me a “developer response” that you’re working on adding features back? You should have finished the features before forcing this update on everyone. Not to mention being forced to make an account. What a slap in the face.

OK to Track Cycle, Bad at Predictions. I’ve been using Clue for around a year now, ever since the Planned Parenthood period tracker stopped functioning after a few bad updates. Initially Clue was really good about predicting at least some of my more predictable cycle symptoms like cramps, but I’ve noticed that in the last few cycles it’s incapable of predicting anything. I know things like acne for me are really random, so I don’t expect predictions for that, but I have cramps and headaches pretty consistently in my cycle due to hormone fluctuations with the birth control I’m on. I, a human being, can see the patterns based on the data the app shows you from cycle to cycle, but Clue no longer predicts my cramps (always the first 1-3 days of my cycle, yet for some reason the computer won’t pick up that it’s a pattern) and refuses to track my headaches (frequently the last day of my old cycle and first few days of my new cycle because I have to remove my BC patch to have a period, so my hormone levels crash). I don’t know if it’s recently as bad at predicting for others as it is for me or if maybe there’s just something wrong with my app/account, but it’s annoying that the biggest draw to this particular period tracker, symptom predictions, won’t work.

Unfortunate Update. Like a lot of users I got logged out only to come back to the removal of personal tags, privacy settings reverted to share ad data, a lot of tracking I didn’t need or want to see (for triggering reasons) forcibly turned back on, and a new non-intuitive interface to struggle with. I don’t recall any email or other notice from Clue that we were about to experience huge changes and would loose our personalized tags, very disappointed in that. I dislike the new layout and hate the scroll-sideways requirement to find tags (and there’s a whole lot of new unfamiliar ones in some categories) in addition to having to save for each one. Before I just tapped what I needed once and done. I can see myself mistakenly missing that step and forgetting to save data until my muscle memory for the app changes. Also….Meditation? Partying? Why are these their own categories? We have to enter our own exact hour/minute for sleep instead of a range? PMS has ZERO symptom options under it? Why is OKs icon under Digestion a salad? Just a whole lot of really unintuitive and head-scratching choices in this update. I’ve used Clue for a very long time, in part because it still does avoid a lot of the gendered and conception-focused missteps other apps take but this has me considering going to pencil-and-paper journaling and ditching the app altogether.

App struggles to load constantly FORCE CLOSES. I have been a Clue user for over 3 years now and always loved it to the point that I joined as a plus member when it became available. I am happy that it is pretty much always spot on with my period predictions but for the past about 6 months it has had a lot of struggle loading. It used to be so bad to the point it wouldn’t load even after giving it multiple minutes. The issue has since gotten a bit better and some pages will load quicker while others (mainly cycle page) still take so much longer than necessary. I just feel like an app of this age and with this amount of quality in the product, should have the basics such as app programming down. I have made sure it’s not my phone or wifi, it’s the app that has problems loading. I am just pretty disappointed that my experience on the app seems to be getting worse rather than better. I hope this issue is fixed and then I’d be happy to provide 5 stars. UPDATE: Now the app is force closing itself out after about 30 seconds (and yes it is on the latest version). As you can see below, they suggested I try reporting the issue to them via the app but I can’t do that when it force closes before I can submit it.... It just keeps getting worse and it’s HIGHLY disappointing. Definite one star and am heavily considering cancelling my subscription and moving on to a new app at this point to be honest.

This app has sadly gone downhill. I downloaded this app a couple years ago and have recommended it to anyone who has asked for a good app to track their cycle. I never had any complaints. Recently, the company attempted a new app called beta and I was chosen to be one of the testers. As an incentive, they offer a free year subscription to the plus which would give you access to all their articles and advice as well as more in depth information about what you are currently going through. When I downloaded the beta app it looked the same. You track the same way and it gave pretty much the same information as far as articles and advice. Then I noticed things were starting to go missing. I was using clue conceive, and one morning when I logged on all you could do was track your cycle. I sent a report to the team in charge of the app and soon it was back up. No matter how many times I tried to activate clue plus it would never take and kept asking me to sign up every time I logged in. Eventually I gave up trying. After a couple months all of a sudden I had regular clue back and beta was over and that was that. Now, you can’t access clue conceive or pregnancy at all unless you sign up for $15 a month or $59 a year! Kind of doesn’t make me want to try it if it won’t even work on normal. Very sad how this app has changed.💔

5 Stars. This app is literally the best period tracker I’ve ever had. I started using it just over a year ago(ish), and it’s truly been helpful. I added in my past periods from another app and that helped a lot with it being able to always be spot on for my days. One thing I would recommend, is having a “Notes” section for days. I feel like that would be nice because I can remember why I didn’t take my BC (birth control) at a certain time and I can work on being more on time with it. It’d also be nice to keep track of other things in there, such as “my cramps were this bad today because xyz.” And instead of using just the cramps button, I can make a note of how bad or mild they were on which days so I can expect it for next time. I also feel as if it would be easier when talking to an OB/GYN about my periods because my cramps can sometimes be too horrible to the point I can’t even get up and out of bed (the top reason why I’m even taking it - and how irregular my cycle was before). A couple months ago I got the subscription to Clue, and it’s even better than I imagined! I enjoy getting the articles for what I feel on my period; certain emotions, why my cramps can be killer, etc. I’d definitely recommend this app to all my fellow friends. 💕

More than Just a Period Tracker. I honestly can’t thank the creators of this app enough. I’ve been using this app for years and Clue has continued to update their app to improve function and usefulness for the masses. It not only tracks your period, but just about anything else health-related, too! It follows your moods, cravings, energy levels, exercise levels, weight, acne, you name it. If you mess up with following your period, you can even go to your analysis section and choose to omit a specific cycle from your overall period tracking; for example, I forgot to track my periods for a few months. When I came back, I simply hid that cycle from in history so it wouldn’t skew my future period predictions. Even from an educational standpoint, the app offers plentiful resources to gain access to information about contraception, love and sexuality, fertility, and even postpartum symptoms. You can use this app to do, literally, WHATEVER you need—it all depends on how much information you pour into it. The more data you enter, the more accurate and helpful the app will be for you. It also helps you be more attentive to what you’re feeling and how every internal and external factor is influencing all the different aspects of your personal health. I love how expansive and all-encompassing Clue is, and it has become a staple in my own health/self care journey. Thank you, Clue!

Lots of talk but nothing special. I wanted this app because it would send my husband updates on my cycle, I thought I would be a fun and easy way to communicate about this. The app does do this but only in a very limited way. I can’t control which notifications he gets or edit the text of the notifications. For example, I want my husband to get a notice when my fertile window is approaching and I would love to be able to edit the alert to be something fun and sexy. No can do! He gets all or nothing, so instead his phone dings, “It’s (name) PMS today!” Then follows a long medical article about pms and a note about how my acne might be worse. I can not think of ANYTHING less fun and sexy. I feel like a medical specimen in a jar. So much for empowering women. Oh, and now they just took away the fertile window entirely with a message about how it “puts too much emphasis on your fertility.” Well... that’s why I got the app. Make it optional, something people can turn on and off, don’t just take it out and leave only an option for the ovulation day alone. You know, why not just take out the period prediction too since it can also “be inaccurate,” and it puts too much emphasis on menstruation. Why not just have the app predict that every day is the same inside our bodies? That way we can just be surprised when it’s not! Who doesn’t love a good surprise right! Oh wait, I guess we don’t even need an app at all then.

Oh neat, y'all are making the transition from serving your customers to selling them. I don't need to list all the ways the latest update was awful and threw UX out the window, because there's a litany of negative reviews below mine that do just that. But I'm definitely not going to stick around and feed my sensitive health data to a company that secretly opted me in to selling it. Not in this post Roe v Wade world. And especially not when the update made it so entering and reviewing that data takes 3x as many taps as before, while taking away the aggregation that made that data useful. Thanks for making it super clear that we are no longer your customers but your product. Oh and thanks for holding my data hostage so I can't export it, nice. Now the companies you're selling my data to have more access to it than I do. Switching to Euki, goodbye. UPDATE: You know what I'm talking about, Clue. Your update turned ON the settings for—and this is verbatim from your app: "I agree that Clue may collect my usage data and use third-party services for: The purposes of advertising, such as tracking or retargeting." I never opted in or consented. I only found out about it from other reviewers here. That is unethical, and so is sweeping away my complaint when you know what I'm referring to. How much user trust do you intend to destroy before you accept that this update was a huge slap in the face?

It’s changed. I used to really like this app. It was easy to track my period and ovulation for when I was trying to get pregnant. I started to feel weird about this app because once I finally got pregnant and switched to pregnancy mode the app would give me little updates about the baby every week. Some of the facts were really cool until it started to tell me that if I wanted to abort my baby I should do it before a certain time. It wasn’t just once either it would be for a couple weeks and it included information on where to get help as well. I’m sure a lot of people need that information and found it helpful I just wish they had put it in their topic section rather than the section where you watch your baby grow. I’m a few months postpartum now and I’m finally getting my period back. I want to switch to the free version but can’t figure out how because I can’t find the place in the app to do so. I feel like tracking has also become very tedious instead of just a couple clicks. If I forget to track for a couple days I can’t manually say it was from this day to this day. Instead I have to go in to each individual day and track it.

Wish I had time to explain why this app is great. I haven't used the subscription version yet, although I should try it because it's probably worth it. But kudos to these developers, because even their free version beats probably any other app out there. You can track nearly anything, and then make your own tags to track even more. You can change the settings to suit your needs, and the app can adjust to your uniqueness. These people clearly work hard on their app, and it shows. Finally writing a review on a whim after appreciating this app for a couple years and going through several other much less satisfying ones. Predictions are fairly accurate, and I love that it analyzes your data so you don't have to calculate it yourself. They also have so much information so anyone who wants to can take their life back and learn about their own bodies. Only thing I could ask for is maybe a setting to predict which of the four phases I'm in at a given point. Not sure if that's doable accurately, but would be cool to see. Everything else is marvelously put together. Thanks, Clue!!

Clue Suggestion (mostly think it’s great!). Hi! I really really like clue; it has a great interface and is very easy to use. I would really love if there were a way to track birth control pills a little bit more carefully though. Specifically, I would like to be able to choose whether you are taking a placebo or active pill, because it would provide better information for women on the birth control pill. It is important to be able to track how many days from the day that you begin your placebo pill you will start your period, and I really wish that clue had this feature! I also went through a period when I purposefully stopped taking birth control pills but I couldn’t figure out how to turn off the “unprotected days” feature, even when I shut off pill tracking. Also, I couldn’t figure out how to turn back on the feature that shows your probable fertile period. If I could get some answers or if this birth control feature could be considered that would be great! Other than those things, I really do like the app! I have been using it for a very long time and I really find it very useful. Ellie

easy to use and wildly helpful, but some minor issues. I’ve used Clue since 2016, if not longer. I can’t imagine ever switching to a different tracking system. there are plenty of features for detailed tracking and predictions, but if you’re like me, and you just want to know when your period hits, it’s great for that too. the UI is clean and easy to customise. it gives me detailed information and lets me input my own info effortlessly. it’s just simply a great app. all that being said, there are a few changes I’d love to see. for one, the startup and response of the app is slow. it wasn’t always like this, but in the last year or so, it’s gotten wildly slow! real bummer. I have the latest app update and the newest IOS on my device, but the app startup is still slow–sometimes taking more than a full minute to load the front page (I know it sounds silly, but actually sit and wait for a full minute or longer and tell me that wouldn’t be inconvenient or frustrating after continued use). in addition to that, I’d really love if you could rearrange the categories that you track (sex, birth control, activity, etc.). it’s nice to be able to toggle what you do and don’t track, but rearranging the categories as well would be a fantastic setting.

Incredibly poor decision on product team’s part. Update: Found the old version of the app on my iPad with an upsell to create an account with the value prop of supporting “a refusal to sell your data, and a no-ad policy.” None of this implies that we’d be getting a pre-toggled setting agreeing to share data for “the purposes of advertising, such as tracking or retargeting.” The what? Either this is a betrayal of the core value prop or a massive missed opportunity to write reassuring content listing the contexts when this would be helpful for users. Just really gross. Original: I am a UX designer who has worked in privacy and safety for the past five years. I am mindblown by this redesign both from a product and a privacy perspective. This is not even close to MVP and should not have launched with such a poor feature set. While attempting to find my data, I discovered the pre-toggled consent to share it with advertisers, which I can guarantee I never toggled. I am curious whether this is specific to US users, as I can’t imagine that hiding and preselecting a consent preference flies under GDPR. This is a fundamental violation of user trust when the app had the advantage of being one of the few cited as “private.” I can empathize with the difficulty of rolling out new design systems and maintaining feature parity, but it’s very difficult to understand who would have not seen these reviews coming.

slowly declined in quality. this has ever so slowly become the worst period tracking app. originally based in the idea that free and equitable access to your own health data and knowledge was a right for all menstruating people has slowly devolved into a worthless app with basic features behind paywalls. the straw that broke the camels back for me was the erasure of access for all of our own historical menstrual cycles. i’ve been tracking my own period since 2016 and now the page that had all of my cycles for ease of use is no longer available to me. mine own data and health information. i have always had an extremely irregular period and the app not allowing me to see my historical data impacts my ability to manage my own health. how dare you put a barrier between me and my person information that i graciously LENT to you. how dare you force me to pay for access to my own cycle history. not even medical information or knowledge that you provide—MY INFORMATION. unfortunately i’ve lost trust that not only my personal medical information is secure, but also lost trust that the new implementation of features is in good faith and a desire to make our lives easier. I’ll be finding a new app and starting over unfortunately. wasted 7 years tracking my health after thinking you’d be on my side.

Happy long time user. I’ve been using Clue since I was 14, and now at 18 I’m as happy as ever. When I was younger I knew my cycle was long but I didn’t really pay attention to it so I never knew when it was going to start. After using Clue for a couple months it told me my average cycle length was about 40 days! I never would have known without Clue, and this way I could plan a lot better. As I got older and my cycle began to shorten Clue dutifully informed me that my average was 34. I had a hard time realizing that the shorter cycles were my new normal but Clue laid out the data, and I knew I could trust them on it. When Clue switched to premium I happily paid the 10 dollars, and it’s worth every penny. They do such good work and I know they’ll continue to improve even more in the future. The only possible requests I have would be to allow people to create their own tracking options. My mom gets migraines, and she can put the generic “other” tag on it, but nothing for severity or duration. I would also like the ability to track what time of day my period starts, as that would be useful to know if there’s a pattern. Thanks!

Always changed for the worse, stopped using ages ago. Erased my old review from many years ago down to 1 star, to join in with saying how frustrated this app had made me, after I used it as a kid over 8y ago and have become an adult in that time, with all the changes that do nothing to help the users have a decent experience. Over 8y of history I had logged onto this and there was never any from of notice or warning that the access to my info I’d been tracking would be completely blocked from me. I wouldn’t be as angry with the decisions from the developers if I’d been given any warning like “due to this and that, we have plans to update/change our app in these ways! Here’s your heads up for what to expect to be changed from what you are used to already”. None of that. I do not recommend anybody to not use Clue, aside from the ridiculous changes in the last year to the entire experience of the app and a paywall, Clue has biased, opinionated, and false information about pregnancy and where to get medical care while pregnant plastered around their app. A very clear agenda to promote abortion and a disapproval of pregnancy. It disgusted me, so I feel obligated to at least come back and make sure I edited any review I left in the past to reflect what Clue turned out to be, which is nothing good. Just wanted to track my period, had to resort to Apples health app which does the basic things I used Clue for years ago without anything insane going on

Used to be great. The data tracking on this app was great for helping me see patterns in my cycle for years. When it was time for my husband and I to start trying for a family it was pretty good at predicting my fertile window. (I confirmed ovulation with LH test strips.) All that said, I wish this app had more to offer a post partum person. I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for the promised updates, but they’re not here and it’s gotten to the point where the period of usefulness for the post partum features I so enjoyed with my first child are now almost irrelevant as my 2nd child approaches 5months of age. Which is fine, if all you consider it to be is a period tracker, and not a women’s health app. I paid for the premium subscription because I loved the post partum features with the first. This week I cancelled my subscription because I got tired of waiting for Clue to catch back up. UPDATE: the postpartum tracking IS what I was talking about in my above review. This app used to be great, for a very significant portion of a woman’s life, but it simply falls short now. There are plenty of other places I can go to find data backed articles to read, if that was what I wanted. I haven’t been able to find another app that offers the high quality tracking features that I grew accustomed to with previous versions of Clue premium.

Love it, but a suggestion. I really love clue, it’s a really easy place to keep track of everything related to my cycle. One thing I would like to suggest is to allow us to choose if we want to log our flow (or other things) multiple times a day or just once like it is now. Personally I would love to be able to mark my flow each time I use the restroom/change my tampon/pad and have clue give me the average flow for that day. I just thought this would be a nice option since I know I sometimes have trouble deciding what I want to mark a whole days flow as (like if I’m light in the morning and night but heavy in the middle of the day). Another part of this would be to be able to log the time (if you choose), like if I get my period at 11 pm (when I normally get it in the morning). I have a really hard time remembering when I got my period and most of the time if it starts later at night it’ll go an extra day long. So it would be nice to be able to see what time I got my period, and (if marking the time for each restroom break) over time you could be able to recognize patterns of your flow throughout each day of your period. Just a couple of thoughts, but I love this app. Thanks in advance for reading my suggestions!

Love the app. This app is fantastic! It allows me to stay ahead of my period, and I love that. I am never caught off guard by my period because I use it daily and pay attention to when it has predicted my next cycle. The birth control input is also very nice because i never forget to check my threads. I also like that I can track when I have sex because my doctor always asks me about the last time i had sex and i could never remember until i started using clue. The only thing I have against the app is that there is no way to add other things to track. They have a set list of things and that's all you can track. I know that there are other things I would love to track but there is no option for it. I wish you could customize your own things so that women could track things that are important to them, but not necessarily everyone. I also think it would be nice to have the option to make notes on some of the things you track, like where your cramps were or how sharp or dull they were. i know this matters to me because my iud causes me to have many different cramps. overall, i love the app and will definitely continue to use it and tell my friends about it.

Used to love, now looking for other options. I’ve have used Clue for years and years. Ever since I had an iPod Touch back in like 2010 maybe? I recommended it to my little sister and friends. Updates came and Clue only got better and better. Not only could I keep track of my period but also the pms symptoms and could make notes. Then came the subscription plan. At first it wasn’t an issue because what I needed wasn’t hidden away behind the subscription block. The ad would pop up constantly, but I could deal with that. But now I can’t even see my analysis. I can see my calendar and can look back and make my own deductions, but I cannot see the information I need at a glance. I can now do nothing but track things on the calendar, see my predicted start date, and see my average cycle length. If I want to know literally anything else, I have to sign up to pay $7.99 a month. I do not have the money to do that. The world is too expensive as is and I simply cannot justify spending any money on a period app, much less a subscription. If it was a one time payment of $10, I could do that. But a subscription is insane, especially one that costs as much as Clue does. Not everything needs to be a subscription.

Love the App; Suggestions. I absolutely love this app. When I started going to the gynecologist at the age of blooming my doctor suggested, like any gynecologist would, that I keep track of my menstrual cycles. However, their method was a little old school: I'm talking pen and paper. Now, there's nothing wrong with that, except that I'm prone to forgetting that I have an important task to complete when it's buried away in a drawer. Menstrual cycles, along with all that comes with them, make us women, and it's important to know this aspect of yourself as it makes you you. Clue has completely revolutionized womanhood and allowed for the personal tailoring of every individual, making what many dread a colorful part of life. As a loyal "customer" I would like to make a suggestion: I would personally appreciate being able to write notes on specific days in which the tracking option categories don't quite fit the funk. Or maybe have the option to create my own tracking characteristics to include other emotions, other pains, other mental states. I would love to see the app continue to develop.

Easy to use. I love the simplicity of this app compared to other I use. I love that I could share my cycle with my partner should I choose and that all my information is available in one spot so I can easily relay it to my doctor. I came here to write a review stating that I wish you could add if your cycles are irregular or if you’ve been diagnosed with PCOS or other infertility issues when I saw there was a recent update that mentioned PCOS. After updating and looking through all the settings and options I had to go back to the update features to learn that it will only prompt you to take a survey once they’ve deemed your cycles are irregular. It would be nice if you could just input that you are irregular or suffer from infertility issues that have already been diagnosed without having to wait for a cycle to complete. Because with PCOS we could be waiting anywhere from the automatic 29 days clue starts you at to 90+ days which means you don’t get insights because you haven’t actually completely a cycle yet. If you were able to put on your diagnosis or irregularity then clue could give you insight into what your last 30 days has looked like instead of *one* cycle that could be months of waiting

love this app!! (I have a suggestion). okay, so I am a 13 year old female. I’ve had the clue app since my first period which was in december of 2017. the app helps with so much and helps me to figure out how to handle each day. it gets to know your cycle and that’s very important. here is my ONLY problem, I have an extremely heavy flow sometimes and it’s on a different day each time. so I manage to ruin a lot of pants and underwear sometimes. it would be amazing if you guys made like a timer to tell you when you should either use any other tampon, pad, or period cup. there should be an option to select your flow, if you are using a tampon; pad; or cup, the absorption level of the tampon; pad; or cup, etc.. Then it should calculate how many hours you have before you need to change it. yes, I know a tampon is not to be used for more than 8 hours, and a pad for 4 hours. but sometimes I can only use my tampon for 4 hours and a pad for sometimes only 2! and it would be helpful to at least have an idea of how long I should kept it in before I change so I can stop leaking through so many clothes. thank you, clue app!☺️

Best period tracker/pregnancy tracker ever!. Have been using this app for a very very long time now and never experienced any issues. As a woman with endometriosis and very irregular periods I never gained much from any tracker, but it was very useful for keeping track of symptoms and patterns! Fast forward, I'm now 15wks into my first pregnancy and this app has become very useful for that too. I love keeping track of my morning sickness, cramps experienced/types of pain (luckily nothing irregular), and a plethora of other symptoms! There’s also a TON of educational material within the app that has assisted me along my endo journey. MENTAL HEALTH GIRLIES: I'm sure many others who suffer mood disorder symptoms can relate: journals and other mood trackers have NEVER been of benefit to me. There’s just not enough moods to log EVER. I wish this company could put out a mood tracking app in the wonderful format of their symptom tracker! Sometimes things will just be too overwhelming for me to explain and try to journal, I like the click-and-go convenience. PLEASE take this into consideration 🩶🩶 They could even put useful articles on the app like this but for mindfulness, coping with symptoms, emotional regulation, and overall wellness!

Love This App but it Has Some Glitches. First, let me start off by saying I LOVE this app, and even paid for the subscription as soon as it was an option. I’m a control freak and love being able to track details like this. HOWEVER, within the last 6 months to a year, the app has been really glitchy. I kept hoping with each update that it would get better, so I held out on writing a review, but it seems that the issues have gotten worse instead of better. Each time I log something, especially something for a previous day, the app freezes and sometimes fully crashes and I have to restart. Then the updated details take a few minutes to even appear, which makes the app freeze again and sometimes crash. Also, the app crashes as every time I open it for the first time, and I have to re-open it 1 or 2 times before I can actually use it. I have tried deleting and reinstalling, which didn’t help, and I even upgraded my phone recently, but still having the same issues. Hoping these things can be fixed soon because I love the app. I’ll end this review by saying I’m not going to stop using this app because it’s amazing and very thorough, but wanted the developers to be aware of these issues. Thank you!!

Don’t use if you have irregular cycles. I’ve been using this app since 2017. I have PCOS, so my cycles are all over the place and hard to track. What I really enjoyed about Clue was how easy it was to use, and how informative it was in analyzing my cycles. Now, the new update has ruined that. Since the update I have had a cycle, and I did not bleed the last two days it expected me to. Before, the days on the calendar would be white and show I didn’t bleed and my cycle was finished. Now, it shows light pink on those days even tho I didn’t track anything. Two weeks later, they are still pink. This is not helpful, because at first glance it appears as if I bled for 9 days and not 7. Next, the analysis page. This was my absolute favorite aspect of the app before the update. Before it would have data such as the average length of my cycles and average days I would menstruate. Now that is completely gone, and all that is available is a record of my past cycles since I began using the app. The fact that it can no longer accurately record my cycles, and does not provide me helpful information about my irregular cycles, I will be looking for an app that can do that. This is frustrating, because I have been using this app for the last 5 years and I loved it. But I guess all good things must come to an end.

Amazing app!!. Let me start by saying I have been using this app for around 4 years now and I love it! But ever since it came out with the whole “premium membership” thing I miss some aspects that I used to have. I no longer receive emails basically as a summary of my last cycle and I used to look forward to receiving those, it helped me get a better understanding of my cycle. And I don’t know if that is a feature in the premium membership I just noticed that when the app came out with premium membership I stopped receiving those emails, and personally I think that’s something everyone should have the privilege of receiving premium membership or not. But i also wish the app was a little more descriptive with its data, or at least had more options. For exercising I wish it had more options, it only has things like running and swimming but what about those who weight lift or walk? There are other things I wish it had as well like dizziness or how much you ate in a day or anxiety/depression, some of these things may already be on there some of them may not but I still think it’s good to have them/look into more options to collect data for. Overall, this app is great with tracking my period I just wish it went a little more in depth and helped you understand what all of it meant like it used to.

Don’t like new update. I used to love this app and had been using this app for years to track my period. But while this new update changes the look completely with some positives i rather would have kept the old one. I don’t like that they removed the tags section where you can make custom tags of your own. I used that so much and now either I can’t find it on the new interface or they removed it. I also wish that when you click on a day when you logged your symptoms, it doesn’t show like a quick breakdown of what you selected and rather you have to click on each individual category that you picked to see the details of what you picked. I’m debating on removing this app now because of this but would like to give it a chance to see if there will be changes Update march 2023 While they started to make some improvements since their terrible update (like putting back customized tags) what frustrates me the most is that you can’t seem to see or do anything if you’re offline. I can’t see the calendar nor track anything even though it says I have 5g service and the app says I’m offline. When I needed it most while at the Obgyn I couldn’t access anything because it said I was offline. I’m deleting this app now and I’m search of another one.

it functions well, but the premium seems exploitative.. I switched from flo to clue, however I’ve used clue in the past years ago. The reason I made the switch is because the flo premium ads have gotten ridiculously in your face, and honestly I found it exploitative to be charging people for information that should be free, and IS free on nearly every medical website, especially at such a steep price. I see that clue has started doing the same thing which is disappointing, again it just seems exploitative. I do however appreciate that they don’t constantly shove it in your face and make it hard to use the app. If I remember correctly the clue premium price is more affordable, but charging 40 dollars for information you took from a free medical website, when women struggle with accessible sex education regarding women’s anatomy is pretty despicable still. It’s like putting “how to preform cpr” under a paywall. I would understand putting blog posts or some journalism on women’s health and feminism under a paywall, but charging people for free medical information is not okay. Overall, less invasive ads than flo and it’s function as a period tracker is good, charging people for free information about women’s health, especially considering the current climate of women’s health, irks me.

The update is terrible - do not trust them. Updating my review AGAIN since they keep lying….folks, just read their privacy policy, you don’t need to take my word for it (and certainly don’t take the developer’s word for it). When you update the app, they automatically toggle on for your data to be shared. To the developers, your responses are insulting. Please stop. Also, I’m STILL waiting for my data extract. Y’all need to comply within 30 days per GDPR. Update in response to their comment: No, actually the safest place for your customer’s data is on their own phones. Your customer service is not equipped to handle urgent requests, it takes them several days to respond. Your customers need the ability to wipe their data immediately for their own safety. If people want to create an account, great, give them the option to. But don’t force your customers to create one if they aren’t comfortable with it. The real reason they force you to create and account is Clue wants to sell your data. That is why the “sell my data to third parties” is toggled on by default in the update. Very disappointing. Forcing users to create an account is truly appalling given where we are at with women’s rights. I’ll be requesting an extract of my data (you can no longer do this yourself within the app - why???) and deleting. Bye Clue, I loved you for years but you broke my trust.

New Update is Awful. I don’t know what the team at Clue was thinking with this new update. First of all, I’ve been using Clue for five years and loved that I didn’t need an account. But the new update forced everyone out of the app and required an account to view the years of data. My heart stopped when it forced me out, as I thought all my data was gone for good with zero warning. On top of that, they have made it MORE difficult to view previously tracked symptoms. In the old version, you could tap on a day and could quickly see at a glance what symptoms were tracked all together. Now you have to scroll through a ridiculous page of icons and click on each individual one to see what you tracked for that particular symptom. Why can’t we see the tracked symptoms all together in a simple list like before? Who thought this was a good idea? I’ve recommended this app to everyone in my life who needed a good period tracker. It’s been my absolute favorite. But this new update really, really dragged it down. For the love of all that is good, please bring back an “at a glance” menu of tracked symptoms when you tap on any past day. Don’t make us click on each individual icon to figure out what we tracked that day.

Perfect. I've been using this app since 2015 which blows my mind because I've been happy enough with it to be using it for 6 years. It lets you track every single symptom or lifestyle change relevant to your cycle. It also has multiple ways to view and track your period: a calendar view, a circular track for your current cycle, and a list that shows each cycle as a timeline. The only flaw that I've had is the change in my ovulation prediction since getting an IUD. I have a non-hormonal IUD which allows me to ovulate still, but since inputting this in the app in 2019, it no longer shows me my predicted fertility window since hormonal IUDs stop ovulation. I just wish there was an added feature that allows you to specify the type of IUD you have, so that I would be able to check when I'm ovulating. Not for the purpose of trying to get pregnant obviously, but knowing I'm ovulating is useful when I need an explanation for any sort of mid-cycle cramping, discharge, etc. Besides that, it's LITERALLY perfect and I love the simple, straight-forward, minimalist design. Wonderful user interface and super informative!

Idea for an Improvement. Hi! First of all, this is a wonderfully helpful app not only because it’s a pretty accurate tracker, but because it’s nice to reflect on all of the little things that add up to how you feel about or experienced each day. I will say though, for some of the categories, especially most of vitality categories, I think it’d be really useful to have a slider instead of two buttons. For example, if for most of the day I was stressed, but then had two hours where I was strangely calm, I’d like to record that by having a circle on a slider be closer to “stressed” than “calm” rather than just clicking both buttons. With the current system, a lot of the days look about the same when in actuality, they weren’t. I understand that this would screw up the feature where you can see patterns in your symptoms and feelings from period to period, but that could be changed so that the categories with sliders weren’t accounted for, or if the placement of the circle is about the same, those would be seen as similar. Either way, I love the app and will continue to use it daily.

A shell of what it used to be. Edit: Below my previous review of this app. It no longer holds up. Now, in 2023, the app is just a shell of what it used to be. The developers have caved to the almighty dollar and everything has been put behind a paywall. Even basic analytics are gone. The new layout is not user friendly and all the things I used to enjoy are gone. Notifications don’t even work anymore. I will actively look for a new period tracker. When did the developers get so greedy? If it’s not broke, maybe don’t overhaul the whole app and put everything behind a pricey subscription. This is the best cycle tracker app you could ever find. It's not designed to be girly or even geared exclusively towards women. It's a clean, sleek, sex positive, gender neutral cycle tracker. I can't say period tracker because it tracks fertility as well. You can record the usual information (blood flow, cervical fluid, PMS, cramps) as well as small things (oily skin/hair, cravings, ailments, mental health, etc). Everything is backed by science, which is all cited, and analyzed for you to plan for the future. It reminds you to take birth control, perform a breast exam on yourself, plan for PMS/menstruation, etc. It is all you could ask for in a tracker app; I can't praise it enough. It is high quality and user friendly. Do yourself a favor and download this app!

Used to like it. This app used to be great. The predictions for periods were pretty on point for the longest time and Clue gave me a way to keep track so that I wasn’t in a constant state of wondering about when my period might come like I had been before I wised up and started tracking. When my cycle started going nuts, Clue was also helpful in pinpointing where things went wrong, and gave me month to month comparison that I could communicate to my doctor. Clue has now become woke. I had been wondering where the fertile window predictor was, and read this evening that it’s been removed so that the app can appeal to a larger audience. This is absolutely ridiculous to me. Women downloaded this app to know about their cycles- period days, fertile days, and all. For many women, this was used as a natural family planning tool. In an effort to appeal to the masses, Clue has not removed important bits of information. Clue, here’s a clue- men to not menstruate, a biological male does not menstruate regardless of whatever gender he thinks he is, and biological females- whether they think they’re boys or whatever, at the end of the day are still females and may benefit from knowing when their fertile windows are. I’m just not clear on what the wider audience is when there is ONE gender that menstruates, bears children, and gives birth.

Removing Tags Deleted Medical History!. I have been using Clue since my first period. My sister used it before me and recommended it. I had a very erratic cycle but no one thought too much of it because it was my first year. The next year I bring it up to my doctor and she says to wait a little while longer. It was nice to show her the data of how long in between periods and there’s no way I would have remembered on my own. We are speaking about 2 or 3 months with no period at all. Cut to about a year or two later I had a huge medical scare. My right ovary was about 8 times the size it should be and my left was better but not by much. So my doctor puts me on birth control and I start recording the pain I am having from the ovary on Clue with Tags. Later on, I get emergency surgery and then another surgery about 5 months later. During this time I start taking a different medication that I also list with Tags on Clue. I will have to ask my doctor when because that data is gone. To summarize not only did multiple years of data for an important (menstrual related) medication get deleted but also all of my data for tracking pain before, during, and after medical procedures. I got no warning my data was being deleted! If I had known I would have written it elsewhere.

Changes. As another said, the option to add details needs to be added to the app, sometimes I want to add that I had a light morning but heavy day, and since downloading the app to my new phone, there is no longer a pin required to access, none of way to track had changed & is inconvenient.I can’t. - Personal notes to be able to be added to each day. I also don’t like how it doesn’t count a day of spotting in the cycle, as despite it only being spotting, you still need to wear something, as there is still blood. Over all I find this app great, I started using it after I had a baby and have been able to log how my period has been and have an idea roughly how long it takes for it to return to the usual pre pregnancy period.

Thanks for bringing this back. When a few months ago you guys took away a feature I had been using for free for over two years I was a bit annoyed. Using the new paid for Clue Plus’s subscription they took the normal three month predictions down to only one. Needless to say I was unimpressed. I was okay with being attacked with pop ups for their other content because I was still keeping those features. When it was gone it made things much harder. Thankful, they’ve recently reinstated that feature as it was, and now offer six month cycle predictions for paying users. Glad to see from a long time user

What happened?. Clue was the first tracking app I ever downloaded. I found it very user friendly and all the information and insights super helpful. However, I’ve noticed some glitches have started since the new iOS update in September. Where the app always worked seamlessly, it now takes a long time to load and occasionally crashes half way through doing things. I’ve also noticed they haven’t adapted for “dark mode” and seem to have generally fallen behind. I will continue using the app because it has months and months of my tracking history but I don’t think I’ll be recommending to anyone else like I used to.

The new update is everything. So many more things to track, ways to hide cycles if they were irregular (like you skipped your period with birth control) so you don’t mess up your predictions and incredible visuals. I recently started tracking my period again after five years of not using apps and I tried some others and moved to clue because other apps had such annoying promotions everywhere you clicked. Clue has a small avoidable promotion for their premium option it’s not in your face, it’s so easy to use and I have just been loving it so much I had to write a review

Disappointed. Coming on here to say the same thing as most it seems, I’ve been using this app for atleast 5 years and all the extra features are now behind a subscription. A feature I had LAST WEEK is now behind a subscription, it’s pathetic. I can’t even go into the app to track my period without being bombarded with the pop up to subscribe every second click I make, it’s frustrating and makes me not want to use the app, I’ll be changing to a different one, I would’ve expected better from an app made by women for women but hey what can you expect these days. I understand we all need to make money but this app was free for so many years and now you can’t do anything without paying, do better.

Please include a feature for miscarriage. There is nowhere in the options available to record miscarriages and now my cycle averages are distorted (greatly) due to the extra days from pregnancy. This makes the data inaccurate and difficult to rely upon in the following months. It may be a sensitive issue but instead of shying away from it, an opportunity exists to normalise it and offer more support and better tracking because it happens to so many of us. There should be no shame or stigma attached to this and it’s important to record so we have the courage to try again

Good Tracker, but there can be improvements. I love using clue, it is the first app I have used to track my flow and I have used it for about a year now. I think an improvement could be to add a scale for the heaviness of bleeding because sometimes I am in between two options. By a scale I mean one where you can drag a point to the heaviness of your flow (sort of like the diagram below but with labels in certain spots). Also a scale for the pain of any headaches or cramps. _______ . ____ I also think that you should be able to track the amount of bleeding during the day, and separately during the night. This would be easier to chose the heaviness because it would be more specific. There should also be a diary or notes section for each day of the period so you can add in more detail on how you were feeling or just to write a diary entry. I hope these improvements can be made, thanks!

A must have app-thoughtfully designed and easy to use!. Absolutely love this app. Unlike many others, it allows you to track everything happening in your cycle, from periods, to symptoms throughout your cycle, moods, energy levels, sleep, contraception usage, doctor appts, weight and soooooo much more! The app is designed to be thoughtful and considerate of people who experience pregnancy, menstruation as well as miscarriages. There is a lot of info provided for all of the above situations and it’s clear that the creators designed this to accomodate all situations and to handle them in a beautiful way. Will be purchasing for my daughter.

Good app. Hi my name is Nicole, My daughter just started her period and she is 14. She showed me this app about 5 minutes ago and I already like it. I wish I could give it 5 stars but I only just stared so I haft to give it a 4 for now but I would of given it a 5 though if I have gotten to know about the app earlier. This app is so good even without clue plus. My daughter has clue plus and she just got it about 10 minutes ago with her own money before she showed me this app. I just bought clue plus and it is so good. The new features that came into this app is super good even though I never saw the others but my daughter has. I really recommend you use clue if your looking for something to use to track your period and pms. I wish I knew about this earlier lots of wishes from Nicole and my daughter Lily 🌈💜 #ClueIsTheBest

Stop asking me to upgrade. I was a massive fan of Clue and had been using the app religiously for a few years without any issues, until they introduced Clue Membership. Aside from the fact it's annoying that a company who used to pride themselves on providing the best completely free period tracking app is now charging for extra features, I keep getting notifications telling me to upgrade. If Clue wants to charge for the extra features then that's fine, but PLEASE stop harassing those with the free version to upgrade. If the constant upgrade notifications are not removed in a patch, I will find another application to use. Very disappointed, as I said I love Clue but the notifications are driving me crazy.

What happened?. I’ve been using this app since 2015, it’s been great. However, recent changes have made the experience very clunky and unintuitive when it comes to switching between days. Sometimes I bulk update my period because I don’t remember to do it day by day. The whole “save” thing is frustrating because now I might miss changes that previously were seamlessly updated. Also, switching between days is unintuitive (let alone combined with the save feature); making the whole process take 4 times longer than it used to - I have to triple check to make sure I’ve got all the data entered correctly.

New update. I’m not sure why they got rid of being able to quickly see what you had tracked on an individual cycle day. Now you have to click ‘track’ on each day, then click on each individual category, then see what you chose etc. The same process for tracking new things - you have to select ‘track’ and then ‘save’ on each individual category, which seem like very unnecessary extra steps. This makes the app suddenly very unsuitable for someone like myself who uses the it to track and identify trends in symptoms linked to certain days in a cycle. They also got rid of giving each day a cycle number outside of the current cycle, so again realllllly difficult to track trends or quickly see each cycle length. This new update means a physical notebook would be far more useful.

Ugh. I think like most people I’m a bit frustrated at the new update. It used to be such an easy tool to be able to track lots. Yes you have added more buttons and functions I see being beneficial as there’s more detail but it’s not as convenient to use. Additionally there are not tags which is annoying. And most importantly you took away the temperature gauge which is one of the most important tracking measures. I have literally done maybe. 2 weeks at most of tracking since the update because you have ruined the routine and taken away what I feel is the most important part. Surely you can go back To the old layout with the additional buttons/information.

Life changing!. I’ve been using Clue properly for 5 months now and I absolutely love it. I feel like I have a better understanding of my cycle and I’m only going to learn more as the app forecasts for me. I have been working with my GP and Clue to track patterns in intense cramping, anxiety and mood swings, by using the personalised tags. It’s changing the way I view my period and symptoms as things I can work with and predict—I know when to be more kind to myself and I don’t feel as frustrated with my body as I once did. I find Clue incredibly user friendly. I like the circular view of the cycle and I just pop in my data each day. The analysis is helpful, I hope one day they get more detailed. I would also like to send myself reminders for things like diet, magnesium supplements and yoga poses for certain times during the month. And I would absolutely LOVE a partner app, or predication notifications/reminders sent to my partner...that would help around PMS time!

Disappointed. I’ve trusted and used this app for over 4 years but a few months ago I started getting unwanted notifications for information I did not authorise, such as information on menstrual cup and promotion of your new podcast. I've searched all settings within the app to turn them off, there was no such option. The only way to not be forced to receive these is by disallowing notification for the app, which means I also cannot receive the reminders I’ve actually chosen to receive. If you have presented those information once I’m in your app in an unobtrusive manner, that would have been acceptable. However, pushing those through to my notification centre without my consent and with no means to opt out is most intrusive and has violated the trust I’ve placed in you. Very poor effort. I’ve stopped using this app and will no longer recommend it.

New update ruined the app. I’ve been using Clue for over 7 years and this update has killed it. The new entry format means you can’t quickly log info like taking the pill by tapping the days up top and pill at bottom. The colour for birth control is now red rather than yellow, a bizarre choice considering no other colours changed and they’ve made it harder to distinguish from spotting on the calendar. It’s also removed all my custom tags and notes on cycles, and the birth control setting has been removed meaning it keeps trying to tell me I’m ovulating. It’s a slight improvement in terms of aesthetics, but for no good reason has removed functionality. I’ve seen the responses saying the update isn’t finished. They really should wait until it’s done rather than releasing an unfinished mess of removed features and data.

Disappointed with loss if features. My GP and I are worried I have endo, so I’ve been using the analysis page for a few years to keep track of symptoms. With the new redesign it’s basically useless as the only information I can see is my cycle length. I now have to go to the calendar page and tap on every individual square and look through each menu to see what I recorded, as there is no longer any preview on the calendar either. The new UI is all very shiny and nice but the entire reason I use the app has been removed. The only reason I still use it is so I have the info stored somewhere, but now I have to copy it into an excel spreadsheet whenever I have the energy if I want to make any sense of it. I used to recommend this app a lot, and I’ve been hoping the previous functions would be returned soon, but that doesn’t appear to be happening. I’m just very disappointed.

Long time user - Holding data hostage until I sign up. I’ve been using clue for years. It has all my fertility history and tells the story of my pregnancies. I chose clue all those years ago as I was not required to register and could store all my data locally on my phone. Without any notice I open the app one day to discover that I can no longer access my data without an account. I’ve been emailing clue seeking a solution - but I’ve only had standard template replies. I think this is a huge breach of trust. I don’t care if your CEO is a woman in Europe. I don’t want to give a company my fertility data. Fair enough if they wish to change their business model - but fair warning should have been given to users to get their data. And a solution should be made available for people to exit the app who elect not to create an account. A note in the app update list is not sufficient - I have automatic updates set. I never look in there. And I’m sure I’m not the only one. Please - provide a solution to access my data.

The “free” version of this app is useless.. Like many other recent reviewers, I too am a long-time user of Clue. Just today I opened the app and realised that I can no longer access my own historical data including basic tracking information such as my cycle length, which I had input myself into the app. Over time, I have noticed that Clue has increasingly hidden more and more information that was previously freely available on the app, behind a paywall (which is disappointing and raises questions about the quality of the Premium offering). However, why an app developer would gatekeep my own period tracking data, the literal premise of a period tracking app, is beyond me. Given this, I would no longer recommend Clue as the free version does not satisfactorily fulfil the basic functions of a period tracking app.

Not worth it anymore…. I’ve been a loyal user of clue for years. I was a beta tester for this app back in the day. I loved being able to see my cycle variation easily and share that info with my doctor. Now, almost every piece of additional data about my own cycle is locked behind a paywall. Features that we’ve had access to for years. I suppose they think that introducing a paywall for features people are familiar with and love will make them purchase the subscription. Unfortunately, I think you’re just more likely to lose your loyal fan base. Cost of living is bad enough, I’m not paying a subscription fee to track my period. Honestly, I would’ve probably been happier to pay a one off purchase fee. Goodbye Clue, I’ll miss you (until I find something better).

No longer usable as period tracker. Like a few of the other reviews have said, the app relentlessly pushes for a subscription, and very very basic features that have been available for years are being consistently moved behind paywall. Have used it for years just for the most basic of features - I just want to be able to see my cycle history, visual summary of how long each cycle was. This used to be available on the free version but is now locked behind the paywall. I don’t feel justified having to pay the steep price for just this one feature - none of the other “features” offered in the premium version are useful to me and I have never used them. Similar to what other reviews have said, the basic version should still do what the Notes app can do. Many of us used to use Clue for *only* tracking periods and do not need the fancy features, and we shouldn’t have to pay for ALL of that when we are not going to use it. There should at least be tiers to the subscription. At this time I would rather move away from the app and am not at all incentivised to subscribe.

Poorly Displayed Data and Doesn’t Sync. Updated 20/07 Thanks for replying. I’ve tried to sync the data on several occasions. It does not work. I downloaded Clue because my sister recommended it. Back then they said they were still making improvements. While changes have been made it’s been impossible for me to see any patterns in my symptoms data because of how poorly it’s displayed. The only thing clue seems to have a good handle on is the average length of my period and cycle which can be done by any other period app. When I try to import the data into something that will display the data better (e.g. apple health) Clue doesn’t even sync to that. None of the help blogs have been useful at all. I think I’m just so frustrated now. Unless something changes soon I think I will I find the time to do some research into a better period app with better data displays and syncing capabilities and and make the switch.

Anything relating to menopause and peri menopause?. The app doesn’t seem to really understand irregularities in my cycle relating to: various pills screwing up my cycle, Mirena screwing up my cycle, assorted medical procedures, intense PMS symptoms etc etc. in fact nothing at all relating to time of life and how peri menopause might be affecting this. Would love to show something like this to my doctor, but the app cheerfully shows that my cycles are 26 days in average (they really aren’t) and about 6 days long (think more like 10+). It would really help not only the gaslighting by the medical profession I’ve experienced but also my own mental health and sense that some thing is wrong to show on an app what is actually going on. Periods are described as light, medium, heavy and spotting, hahaha. Where is crimson tide, massive foetus sized clots, hurricane and at the top end of the scale “environmental catastrophe”? “Heavy” doesn’t really cover all of the above. Why not have more articles about peri menopause and menopause? Are we invisible? (Don’t answer that, I know we are). This app works well to track this horrid monthly event, and a handful of symptoms. But it could do so much more, for more of us.

Used to be great - new update is horrendous. I’ve been using Clue since the start of 2016 and it was great - simple and intuitive. Then the recent update came and destroyed Clue for me. The new version is truly awful to the point of feeling like a completely different app - clunky, unintuitive, requires much more time for user input. I could go on. This is the first app review I’ve ever written, the update is so bad. Worse, the stock response from the developers to these reviews is “we’d like to point out that this update is not the finished product”. Why on earth would you release an unfinished product? Why?! So far I’ve given the new version three months to improve and it hasn’t yet. If there is still no improvement over the next couple of months I will be requesting all my historical data from the app (that’s now stored on their servers, not locally on your device) and take it to another service instead.

Really great for trans & non-binary people. As a non-binary person, I really love the gender-neutral language used in the app. I do experience gender dysphoria when I’m on my period, so this app just helps with the tracking aspect a ton. However with the new update, I can’t remove the fertile window from the cycle & calendar pages. There used to be a filter icon you could tap on to filter out symptoms, and even the fertility function. As someone who isn’t trying to get pregnant, I really hope they add it back in in the next update because I don’t really want to know when I’m predicted to be fertile😅.

Great tracker — but keeps freezing. I love this tracker very much but the app keeps freezing on me when I try to put in new data!! It’s getting to the point where I’m about to delete the app and use an alternative. It’s so frustrating and I don’t have the patience for it, as I have to exit the app every time to reset it but lately it’s been freezing every time and I can’t actually add any new data any time I open the app. I’m not sure if it’s my phone, but I don’t have this problem with any of my other apps. If the freezing problem was fixed, I’d resume using this app as it helps me keep track of my period and taking the pill a lot.

Good but for me it desperately needs a journal. This app is really simple to use and has a great visual circle to show where abouts you are in your cycle which is nice. It also has a nice information helper as well with pictures you can click on to track how you’re feeling, if you felt like eating or if you slept a lot etc. on one hand I like this because it helps keeps things uniform and easy to track and on the other hand I can’t stand it because it keeps things too uniform and there is no where to add extra details if something else is effecting your health. For example I might be sick this week or I might be more tired then usual due to work picking up or being more active then normal. I think it would be really nice if there was a way to write down extra details like that. Perhaps you could make it so people originally write the journal entry in the regular symptoms detail entering place then it shows up in the calendar with all the rest. Perhaps have the journal entries primarily show up in the zoomed in one column, daily calendar page. Perhaps have the first sentence or a few sentences of the journal entry be visible under the symptoms to keep it compact but with the ability to click on them to view/create larger journal entries. Overall I really like some aspects of the app but I feel like the inability for the user to add detailed information could really hurt it. It’s something that has made me consider changing apps quite a few times.

The best tracking app I’ve found. This app is incredible compared to basic calendars and calculator apps that I have used in the past. It’s motivated me to get into a routine and pay more attention to my health. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because I would like there to be a few more options in each category (or the ability to add options per category). For emotions you can only select; happy, sad, sensitive or PMS. I want to be able to add things like; flat, irritable, excited, hopeful, moody etc. I’m rarely just happy or sad. Same goes with energy levels; an option for a neutral level of energy would be great. I have endometriosis so this app is fantastic because I’ve always been interested to gauge the different phases of my cycle in more detail. Providing some extra information and symptoms for those with endometriosis or PCOS would be wonderful too (for now I have added some customised symptoms). I’d also love LOVE if there was notes about the phases of the moon as these generally have massive correlations with our cycles and it’s super interesting to gauge and learn more about. Great job with this app. I’m looking forward to using it more and hopefully seeing some addditional functions in the future! :) thank you!!

Best period tracker. I have used Clue since 2018 and it is excellent. No girly colours, the app treats us like the women we are. Handy ways to track variables like: flow, digestion, pain, skin, cravings, fluid; throughout the month is an excellent feature. Respecting the fact that women are going through conditions like endometriosis, PCOS and hormonal migraines (like myself). Being able to easily see how often i was getting migraines before my period helped me talk to my doctor about it, I was able to easily show her how frequently I was getting them and spot the pattern. Clue also has incredible links to universities to advance female health research. Great organisation and excellent app!

they now prioritize money rather than accessibility. i've been using this app for years and it used to be really good. all my friends and people i know also used this app because it was easy to use and had a lot of features that helped us track our menstrual cycles. but more recently, about the last 2-3yrs, the app has become more about subscription and having everything being behind a paywall. while i'm thankful that all users have their privacy protected, that should be a given and not a baseline of what classifies an app, or business, as good. there are constant pop up ads every single time you go into the app or whenever you try to track something. you can no longer properly view details about your cycle and the patterns either. it has become progressively harder to view your previous cycles and see details that were available before. and i understand having in depth educational information behind a paywall, but this app is a cycle tracking app and the fact that this app has regressed so much with accessibility which was something it was known for, to the point of being barely able to view information you once put in is really weird. it's an okay app but if you don't have a lot of money to pay to view most of the app, or do not like constant pop up ads, don't get it. it's alright for the basic functionality but other than that, you might be able to find better options to track your cycle.

Update…(jumped the gun). I have been a long time user, 1 of the first to use Clue when it was first released, even becoming an ambassador and I understand the app is being rebuilt, but I was using the app and tracking my ovulation tests, to try and fall pregnant, and Clue had gotten pretty accurate at estimating my potential ovulation days, but now it has reset, taking none of my previous data into account and I have lost all my old custom tags, and I miss the OG analysis section… I’m just glad I had previously made an account, so I at least didn’t lose all my data completely…. I feel that maybe you jumped the gun on releasing this update, especially when people have become so heavily reliant on your product, storing not just reproductive data, but also using it to track other health data in general…. Please, please take your time, for the next update, to ensure it is completely ready for release and ready for everyone to use, we are relying on you.

Great app but would love more options. I have been using the app pretty much since I got my period and have loved it but I feel like there’s a severe lack of options and the tags feature that I guess is meant to let you make your own is a little redundant. One of the things that I find the app is lacking is that there is no way to log back pain or clotting in your blood which are two things that would be incredibly helpful to track. I also think it would be good to include other emotions because sometimes it’s hard to pigeonhole my emotions into happy sensitive pms or sad. I think adding stuff like angry or flat would be very helpful. Overall I love the app and will continue to use it because it has such an incredible simple design and is easy to use and if just a few more options were added that would be great.

Birth control?. I wrote a review months ago, complaining about the same thing. The birth control feature, which I was assured will be returning “soon” is still no where to be found. The app now has no clue when to predict my cycles as it can’t tell that I am on the pill and control when I get my period and start a new pill pack. I’m currently half way through one of my pill packets yet the app is “predicting” that my period will come in 5 days… which is completely wrong as I’m not even near taking the sugar pill. Please restore the birth control setting, without it the app is purely useless as it is not accurate at all. This new update is a pain and has been “rolling out” for months now. Please fix this and make the experience on the app somewhat tolerable. As of now, clue is no use to me.

Connect update not very LGBT friendly. I do love this app, but one of my favorite features was Clue Connect. My partner and I could track and compare our cycles through the connect feature. You have “improved” this feature by making it quite hetero-normative. This update assumes that if I share my cycle, my partner must be a man therefore there is no need for him to share his cycle back. I can see hers, but I now can’t share mine, the share feature goes away once i have a one way connection. I also use to be able to view both of our cycles side by side and now I can only see her cycle calendar in isolation. Big let down, it ruined the best feature of this for LGBT couples. Please improve this.

Not as great as it claims to be. After my last review on the App Store, the developer might have fixed something so that I wasn’t stuck in the login loop anymore. But then I had an error where I couldn’t actually select certain days to track any data for those days. For example, on a Sunday I could ONLY track for last Tuesday Wednesday only. Clicking on other days up until the current day would not allow me to edit anything. It was impossible to use. I think it’s some new setting where you’re not allowed to select future days, but even that caused other issues. Did an update and it seems to be working now. But seriously, user interface on apps are supposed to get BETTER with time, but my experience with clue has only gotten worse over the years. Still prefer to use my other app (that has ads) and keep clue just as a backup. Would never ever consider paying money to use this app.

The best tracker app out there.. I have PCOS so tracking my cycle and my symptoms is very important. I’ve tried a lot of different period tracking apps, but Clue is by far the best. I love the simple layout, the way I’m easily able to log my symptoms, and I’m easily able to view my past symptoms. Some tracking apps are complicated when they don’t need to be, and it puts you off making daily logs. The predictions are very helpful, even with my PCOS which sometimes can be unpredictable. Unlike some other period tracking apps, also, Clue premium is very affordable for anyone.

The update wasn’t all good. The addition of more items to track is good and I like the extra options and specificity that came with the update but the way you have to track each item is tedious. From opening the app you would need to click track, select the correct day (if not tracking something today), click the category you want to track, click the option within that category, click track, then click save. I don’t understand the purpose of having to click track AND save, frankly it would be much more effluent to just click the option and have that be automatically tracked and saved. I’m not likely to click the wrong thing but I am likely to run out of time entering data when it takes this long. It would also be much better to be able to select a category and be able to quickly find past incidences of it quickly (like a Vlookup). That way I could look for the last time I had cramps, or how much of the time I bleed heavily vs medium or light. At the moment if I want to find this information I have to look through each day, scroll down the list of items to track and notice which ones I have tracked on a specific day. The colours do not make this easier because they double up. Blue dots could mean I tracked pain or skin or hair or other things. I will be considering alternative apps that are more user friendly for data input and analysis.

Was Perfection - not anymore. Here’s my previous review: I've been using this app since 2015 and it's been great. I like that you can use as many or as few of the tracking options to suit me. I recommend it whole heartedly. I wish I'd had it while I was going through IVF. —- Rating this app is difficult for me because for many years I’ve found it brilliant. Slowly each update has taken away the simplicity and less is available of my own data to view. Today I went to have a quick historical look because of a conversation with my Doctor and discovered that unless I pay for an upgrade I can’t even access my own data outside of the current cycle. This seems unethical at least, but possibly illegal. At a minimum I should be able to see my own data on a calendar without any analysis. I’m really disappointed as I have supported and recommended this app to so many people over the years. I’m changing my review from 5 stars to 2 stars but really I’m not sure I should give any stars. It’s disappointing to be a user since 2015 but unable to access the data.

I’m not sure what I’ve done wrong. Many people I know and respect love the app. It was the first ever period tracker I got, I was very excited because so many of my friends liked it. When I downloaded it everything seemed fine. I put in all my data no problem. When that was done and I saw the home page I was confused. My length is six days and what showed up in the home page told me it only went for 3. I went to see if I could find a way to fix this, after searching I asked a friend, she didn’t understand that problem and wasn’t able to find where I could fix it. So I deleted it and tried an other which I am very happy with however I did wonder if it was my fault that data was wrong so I signed in with a different email and added the data. The same issue had happened, and still no place to fix it. If I just an being blind and can’t find it (even though I’m only 16) let me know because I really don’t like to leave bad reviews.

Such a great period tracker. I started using Clue when I had to go off the pill, and was trying to predict when my period would arrive. It made it much easier to see what was happening, and helped me understand my body better. It was an invaluable resource for tracking my fertility when we were trying to conceive, and I missed being able to use it when I was pregnant! I would recommend this app above all other period trackers. If there was one improvement that I wish you could make, it would be to implement pregnancy into the app. Even just to be able to tell the app you’re pregnant, so it doesn’t expect you to input data about period for a number of months would be great. Although it is good that when I’ve opened it up after 11 months that it understands that that time wasn’t one long cycle. It would be great to be able to input that you’re breastfeeding, and be able to use information such as birth date etc, so the app knows to expect various different symptoms (and probably not a regular cycle) for a time afterwards.

SO HELPFUL. I've been using Clue since I went off the pill 3 years ago. My periods were irregular and I found it hard to track the symptoms and dates without logging anything. I cannot remember how I heard about Clue. Whether I just searched "period tracker" or if someone told me. I have since told many people to use Clue and they also swear by it. I was able to see how my body works. I am now in the average range for regular which is good to know and Clue documents it all in an easy to understand way. Thank you Clue for making my life that little bit easier and taking away the monthly freak out if my period isn't here yet!!

Great period tracker, but app performance subpar. I’ve been using Clue for a few years now and it’s been a very useful tool to help track my periods and the various phases of my cycle. I used to carry a little card-sized calendar in my wallet and a red pen to track my period. But a modern-day phone app with notifications and reminders, the ability to log other aspects of your cycle, and access to various articles to help understand your body has been an invaluable tool. However, the app has of late been slow to load and progressively been crashing a lot more, so I have had to look into other period tracking apps. Other than app performance, Clue has been great at doing what it was intended for, which is to track menstrual cycles and educate women on their bodies.

THE Best. Let me start by saying I’ve been using cycle tracking apps since they first appeared on the App Store when I was a teen - I’m 24 now and I’ve trialled many different tracking apps but this is the one I’ve always settled on. I’ve never been caught by surprise with my period since I’ve used this app, it’s been a few great years. With so much information, newsletters, customisable reminders, and all the tracking options you may need for your cycle - this app is the pinnacle of Cycle Tracking. The interface is so much more pleasing than other apps and this one comes with an abundant wealth of information, even I’m still learning about my body.

Pretty good!. I’ve been using clue for 4 months now. I got it after stopping contraceptive treatment for PCOS and it’s been realllly great for tracking how I’m doing! - I started paying for premium in the last month My only complaint is that I wish there were more emotions, feelings ect to track! Like I thought when I paid for premium I’d get more options than just “low, exhausted, sad, pms, happy” ect More depth into why my sleep was good/bad (say I got 9 hours of sleep but it was restless?) Like I’d love to be able to add notes to the days too! - like say I have a low day but something happened that day to cause this (and it isn’t really to do with my cycle, I can make a note) Somewhere to note that you may be on temporary medications too (like antibiotics, thrush treatment and so on) I’d love a colour of discharge tracker too - the discharge options are great but for someone who is trying to track stuff with medical conditions in mind it’s not enough :/ like I’d recommend using clue and a notebook to keep a more comprehensive record I have heaps of things I wish the app had more options for but even as it is it’s been incredibly helpful to track the dates of my cycle and I’ve found it’s really accurate with ovulation times too!! Absolutely love the app

Update removed useful functionality. There is no longer a ‘settings’ button anywhere in the app to allow you to password protect the app on your phone, nor anywhere to request a backup file of your data, nor anywhere to scale up/down the data you are happy to share with Clue. The ability to swipe between days to quickly record data has also been removed - you have to click in and out of every single date now which disincentivises recording much info. AND you get pop ups to go to the paid version every time you record a single symptom. The app is almost unusable. Bring back the old app interface…

Used to be wonderful. Bitterly disappointed.. Hey you! Just use the notes app in your phone or an excel spreadsheet instead. I have used this app for over a decade. When I first started I didn’t need an account or a password, it all just worked in the app. Over the past couple of years they have added these ‘account’ features that no one actually wants. I was trying to just quickly log something and they made me pause and create a password. It’s not why I got the app, and I wish there was an option to keep going as it was. Secondly, why is it necessary to connect to the internet to input my data? It should all just stay on my phone and shouldn’t need Internet. I have enough internet to upload this review but not enough to input my own data? It doesn’t make sense and it is endlessly frustrating. After ten years of using this app I’m deleting it and using the notes app on my phone, because that’s a better option than this overly complicated and constantly changing mess. I’m very disappointed, Clue!

Not Just Angry But Disappointed. This is a long review but as a user of Clue since 2015 I’m angry and disappointed. For most of the time I used Clue the app was great and allowed me to track my periods and other sexual health information with ease. However, since the update around a year ago the app has become a clunky, limited and disappointing experience. Things that were once easy to enter now take extra steps, things that were included are now behind a “premium” paywall, and I now get constant ads to pay for “premium”. The app is a classic example of people that have never done a user experience course in their lives. Instead of adding new and great features to your “premium” offering you put things that were once free behind a paywall (such as creating your own tags/notes) and while your UI is visually appealing it is inaccessible and cumbersome, zero design thinking used by these people. Finally I’m angry, Clue now collects an excessive and unnecessary amount of data on its users. How is Clue using this data, which marketing firms are they inevitably going to sell it to, how are their protecting that data (with their crappy UX knowledge I doubt they have good practices) and when I sent Clue emails asking for my data to be sent to me and delete from their system I was ignored. I would not recommend this app, I suggest looking for another.

Used to love it, now looking for another app. I started using clue years ago and have regularly logged my data on an almost daily basis. It was formerly an amazing tool to track my period, as well as many of my other physical and mental conditions. So many of my doctors loved it! It used to be super easy to use and super simple to navigate. Changes over the past year have made it almost unusable for me, and left me logging data less and less frequently. The app is now full of constant pop up messages about blogs and podcasts and all these different aspects of the app that I have no interest in or use for. I have extensive medical training and knowledge - I do not want to be constantly bombarded with requests to ‘learn more about reproductive health basics’. The changes have removed what I loved about the app and I am now changing to a simpler app so I’m able to log data regularly again without getting upset at the app design.

Hmm. Only stores data for 4years - unfortunate if recording crucial information needed for longer. I’ve lost records of important reproductive events, which is a shame especially since there’s no distinctive warning of this. Isn’t compatible with my series 7 watch - unsure why, I’ve had trouble since getting the watch back in April, all other apps work fine it’s just Clue that closes whenever I try to open it on the watch. The app doesn’t have a “dark mode” function either. Has vibrant pop up ads when opening app. Not great for photosensitivity. Would be great to use the watch or dark mode during my headache episodes as they’re much less stimulating. Won’t recommend for long term use or the storing of important data. Not likely to purchase another clue premium subscription because of the lack of appealing functions. Great for short term irregularities but otherwise non viable for reflections of the past.

Great but also clue plus?!!!. On clue, you can see the symptoms you’ve log and what they meant which can be super helpful if you want to know what cramps mean or why you’re getting headaches all the time. Now you need clue plus???? Not everyone has the money to pay per month to see what their symptoms mean. A lot of options have now been taken away by clue and I don’t really think that’s 100% fair. Women go through a lot each month and I’m sure the last thing they want to do is spend the money they could be using on tampons and pads, on something they shouldn’t need to spend it on.

Used to be a great app. After a forced update, many features are behind a paywall and I now see constant pop ups for a paid subscription. I have years of tracking data in this app that I will need to give up to switch to another with less aggressive marketing tactics.

Love Clue. I’ve used clue since 2015 and it’s my favourite tracking app by far, but the new update is horrible. It’s hard to navigate and contraception tracking no longer works well at all. Very disappointed because of how much I loved the app before.

Not worth it. Unless you want to spend even more money on your period not useful.

for $1 say woman. been using this app for years and loved it, but now the devs cant even say the word woman.. dehumanizing garbage.

Fertility Window. I’ve very much enjoyed this app until recently. I reaaally don’t like that the fertility window has been taken away. Mostly because I just don’t understand why. Perhaps I’m missing the point, but if women are tracking their cycles to avoid pregnancy, isn’t that their prerogative? It feels like you’re trying to dictate a woman’s birth control. And that makes me so sad. Furthermore, you’ve expressed on your app the idea that using the same fertility window to GET pregnant is ok. Again, maybe this wasn’t your intention, but that makes it sound like you’re taking steps to ensure women get pregnant even if they’d prefer not to. Why? So confused!

Forcing to buy premium by each update. Edited review 14.1.2024: previously only bonus features were on premium version, but now even my own given data (cycle history and analysis) during past years is hidden and only accessible upon buying premium account. Such a shame. Previous review: Many much needed and helpful features are only available for premium upgrade which requires payment. As a woman using this application from Iran, it's not possible for me to pay for this upgrade. It's really such a shame, as those features could help women like me from third world (developing and countries with poor and inefficient health care system) to get educated and try take care of their body and mind wellbeing.

Used to be 5, now 1. Forced to update, had been using Clue for years. Now a lot of the features are behind a paywall, annoying banners and subscription prompts. Worried that years of period data is gone, but I’ll look into that more. Might have to find a new app, and I’m sad about it :(

gender neutral 👍. i’m trans so i appreciate that

Back to before. Used to be good, but after updated it got worse to track data

Locked out after update. After the update I was forced to delete the app because I have an older phone that doesn’t support IOS 15. I’ve been using this app for years and now all my data is gone.

Problème. Depuis la dernière mise à jour, l’app prend beaucoup de temps à afficher mes nouvelles données ou à commencer un nouveau cycle. De plus, je ne reçois plus les rappels même s’il sont activés. Vraiment frustrant! Sinon, super app!

Takes your data and pay walls it. To provide a service for free for many years and then take that information away to try and force me to pay a subscription is cruel. I can’t afford any more subscriptions. This left a bad taste in my mouth. Trying to force people to do this by taking away information you have gathered from me for 5 years is beyond what I thought this ap stood for. Don’t give them your time, just use your free phone ap.

Features that used to be free are no longer. I have used clue for about 10 years now. It has always been my favourite period app but recently they have made the previously free feature of seeing the length of each previous cycle into a paid feature. I will be looking for a new app. Editing after the response from the developers: Making us pay to view our own data in the simplest form (the length of a cycle in number format rather than counting the days on a calendar) is not something that “takes more time and effort to develop.” People should not be downloading this app anymore. The greed will only continue and eventually they will start selling our data, just like other period apps have been found to do.

My OWN period analysis is Locked behind a paywall. It didn’t used to be like this but now I can’t even see my past period analysis. Inacceptable, I’m switching apps

The update is kind of terrible. I logged some important notes during my cycle like I usually do but the new layout makes it almost impossible to find out what notes you’ve logged. That is really annoying. The update made the app worse and harder to use.

Horrible new interface. I really rarely review apps, but I’m reviewing this in hopes that they will update before I have to quit. Clue has added so many bells and whistles around tracking my period that it has made the experience overly cumbersome. Please bring it back to how it used to be.

Disappointing Changes. I used to love this app. It was intuitive to use and all the features were fantastic. Now, a pop-up to become a paying user pops up with every action done on the app. Previously free features are now paid only. And it has stopped syncing with my Apple Health app now.

UNSAFE FOR USE - DELETE. Delete clue (it’s functionality is now terminally bad) and download Drip, an open source and privacy focused app. Your data will only stay on your device (used to be true of clue but no longer, now you can’t track unless connected to the internet) and you can upload data from clue. Protect your privacy and don’t use this app.

Great regulator for period tracking. It helps detect when the period will be approx. and with unprotected days when missed a pill

Lame. Same as everyone else… forcing us to pay now after having the app for years is awful. Use to love this app, guess I’ll look for another option.

Great App but No offline functionality!. I have used this app for four years and have found it a simple and concise why to track my menstrual cycles. However, the recent updates have made the app completely useless if you don’t have wifi connection or data 24/7! If your on the subway and finally have a moment to record your symptoms good luck! The app doesn’t work without internet connection! No idea why they changed this! It was so useful and now I’m seriously considering moving to another app! Otherwise I really liked the app! If you use the free version you are constantly asked to join a subscription but everything is like that nowadays anyway. I love the detail of the tracking options for symptoms common with many reproductive disorders like PCOS.

New update. After updating the app, I don't like the way I have to enter my information now. I like the old way.

Changed for the worse. I’ve been using Clue since 2018 to track my irregular period. You used to at least get a small amount of information regarding pms, period symptoms, cycle variance etc…. But now every five seconds it asks me for a monthly subscription. Used to love to be able to check on different things to do with my body. But now you don’t get any information besides the tracking calendar, and annoying pop ups. Going to be changing to a more user friendly app.

Not happy. Used this app for years and then when I came to a point in my life where I would use the fertility portion of the app it’s removed I upgraded even at least give the option deleting this app and not spending a dime on something that takes away benefits of the app

Bad update!. The latest update makes this app so annoying to use, I don’t even want to use it now. Way too many clicks to just track the flow. Really hate that the calendar is arranged mon-sun instead of sun-sat like most calendars.wish I could roll this back to an earlier version.

Locked Period History. I really like this app and I continued to trust it after the big period app data scandal a few years ago AND I fully understand that the app needs to make money somehow other than ads or selling data BUT I should be able to see the data I enter into the app without paying for Clue+. Otherwise the app is just a timer.

Was better before update. The new interface is so much less intuitive. Also I wish the “trying to get pregnant?” banner would go away. I’m not -_-

THEY ONLY WANT YOUR MONEY AND DATA. This app keeps getting worse and worse as the years go on. They keep taking away features in hopes that you will purchase their “plus” addition to get those features back. They even took away the fertile window period on the calendar- like this free edition literally has no features left!! What a joke.

Keep a version that doesn’t require iOS 15. I would love to be able to keep tracking my cycle on this app but you updated it without leaving a way to keep the app running w/o iOS 15. Will that be remediated?

Great App. Super useful and informative!

After being a faithful user since 2016.... Got locked out of the app because it requires iOS 15 or later. Why? It’s a cycle tracker. It won’t even let me in to transfer my data elsewhere. Probably won’t recommend it to anyone else. Data since 2016 gone.

Subscription Spam. I’ve been using this app since 2018 - the recent subscription spam has been completely overbearing! Every single time I open this app I am given an advertisement about upgrading. Some day soon I will be transferring to another application or just tracking on my own. It’s ridiculous

Extremely disappointed. Liked clue for the first year but disappointed to see that they have decided to get rid of ovulation tracking. Lots of women don’t like being on birth control and yes it isn’t the most reliable source of birth control but it definitely helps having a reference to be more safe. Thanks for making things more difficult for those who don’t want to stick hormones in their body!!

Took my Health Data to Sell Back to Me. I diligently added notes about my cycle, symptoms, and other health issues for years. Now all that data is behind a paywall and I cannot view it unless I upgrade to a paid subscription.

Payments for our own data and for health information is crazy.. I loved this app before but it makes me upset it feels like having to pay is going against the purpose of the app. Paying for health information and to see our own data is crazy. I would rather have more adds than a subscription I think the app would do way better if it was free and the ads were explained to donate to the company and for women’s health. Paying for products is enough no one wants to pay for this too. I am thinking of switching to another app but it is very irritating because I have been using this app for so long.

Clue is not the same anymore :(. Dear Clue Team, I’ve been using clue since 2015. When I discovered this app I was SO happy, literally it was everything I needed. What I truly loved was that it wasn’t too complicated to track my cycles and I could easily see the patterns in my tracking history. Recently I realised that I can no longer access MY OWN DATA without having to pay for it. I cannot see any of my past logged symptoms without purchasing the plus…I feel this is unfair? Because I logged that information so I could access it when I needed it, especially for my health? I used to love Clue and I’m so attached, but now I’m just disappointed. ☹️ I wish the team would consider these aspects and make the app more accessible to all once more.

clue is great💗. I’ve been using flu since my first period and it has always been there to help- it is very transparent about privacy policies and let’s u choose what u want to track- This is a great app for all ages and

New update made it much worse. New layout is not user friendly, why make colour of the period days the same as the pill? Makes it visually confusing. Not easy to track anything as well, you have to go through a two step process rather than a one touch like before. Please bring the old layout back!

Was a 5, now a 1. I absolutely hate they’ve removed the estimated ovulation/fertile window. That was a critical point in the success of my family planning. Now that the feature is gone, I’m gonna switch to a different app. Thanks for all the years, Clue.

Let me track my BIRTH CONTROL!!. I have been using Clue for years and love it. But the new update ruined everything. Not only does it look horrible. They removed the indicator and reminders for Birth Control. I really loved that feature a lot. Not it turns of my birth control button every few days and I have to add it back in. Please bring it back. Make it the way it use to be.

Worst update. Was great before the new update. Literally blocking my own data from myself. Consider finding another app!

Latest Update Usability Issues. The latest major UI update has really decreased usability. Everything used to be easy to track! Ow it takes more clicks and an annoying and not useful save button. The calendar doesn’t use North American standards, and doesn’t display day of week AND I can’t change it. I realize many locations put Sunday at the end but this is very confusing when you’re not used to it and can’t see the day of the week.

Disappointed in the changes. I have been using this app for several years now and loved it. I tried a few different tracking apps and this was the easiest app to use. Just recently they took the fertility window away and of course we are tying to get pregnant now and this was the whole reason I had tracked for so long. I’m really disappointed with this change.

Steals your data even though you’re paying for privacy. Forecast stopped working after a few months and now I have to pay to access my own data and records. It is completely unethical for an app that holds such sensitive and intimate information to be selling it to the highest bidder. Finding out they were selling intimate secrets about my body was literally traumatising, especially since this app is recommended to sexual abuse survivors.

Fertility window. I loved this app, until they updated it and now there is no fertility window. Although it was not 100% accurate, i liked seeing an about of when i am ovulating. Please bring it back... at least as an option with us accepting that it is not 100% accurate and is only a prediction

You destroyed your own app (user for 8 years). (I caved and switched to Drip, definitely recommend. Clue won’t release my data to me either) Not only this, but you are erasing our experiences. I identify as nonbinary and find it ridiculous to have the language so heavily changed- I am still biologically a woman, and it’s bad for the mental health of those struggling with dysphoria and dysmorphia to have their anxieties acquiesced to at every turn. All the features I used the app for are senselessly removed- it does NOT make sense to have had removed the fertility window, especially if you are trying to have users customize their own experiences. The predicted day OR window will never be accurate to a T, but the window is at least giving a few days to look out for. Make it opt-in, just like the day. Bring back trend tracking for symptoms that isn’t being a paywall. Bring more actual women onto your team. I updated so I could review and tell you to add a miscarriage option- now, I’m deleting and getting a better app like i should have done years ago. The app is destroyed. Edit 2023: getting better, but still ridiculous to have analysis be missing all the trend tracking. At least the potential fertile week is back. The new tracking portion also needs the arrows to switch days back as it is inconvenient to have to pop into the calendar to switch days instead of it being one-tap. As well, it’s laughable that description tells you to send feedback in-app… no, I’m going write a review, thanks. It’s your responsibility to check reviews and take accountability rather than trying to hide our discontent and disappointment wth you. The copy and paste response to our reviews is also gross and shows we don’t matter to you, only the money you get from the paid app. I’d happily have a 30 second ad related only to period products to support this app, or an option to watch ads to get some features, but as-is? Crazy. Gone from 1 to 2 starts but if the team continues as it is I’ll be putting back down to 1. Time to find another app or just chart by hand. Only thing I appreciate is the option for clue conceive that I can’t even access due to the cost, so I’m even not certain that is good either. Also, what is even new with the newest update (01/16)? Nothing visibly in the free portion at least. So disappointed. Edit again: noticed you say that hcg is only produced when pregnant. So wrong. You could have a tumor or some other issue. This is dangerous misrepresentation of information. I wonder what else is wrong in your app? Since writing my edit right now there has been another update that fixes the clicking needlessly issue, but I find more and more. Still 2 stars for now but often considering lowering. Just so dissatisfied. I don’t even know what to say at this point, I’m astonished.

Used to be five star. Bring back the fertile window or at least the option to add it in settings, not just ovulation day. Super disappointed in the changes and May seek a new app

Hate the new updates. I’ve been using clue since 2017 and I finally made the switch to Flo because of the new updates; seems like they’re switching a lot of the new items to a paid model, and I won’t be able to track my birth control (like in how older updates you can switch the setting to contraception/pill so it’ll send you reminders to take your pill) Other usability has gone down in quality (more steps to input data, waaay too many things to track). Maybe if it changes back to something similar, I’ll come back, but for now, I’ve transferred my data to Flo and will use that for time being.

Not user friendly. This new layout is so bad, what happened? It’s not user friendly anymore. I use this for so many years now and that’s the first time it got annoying like that ;(

Omg so good. Really good!I don’t use premium and I don’t think it’s needed. But it’s a really good app and it’s able to guess my cycles perfectly!😱

Stop using it. I’ve been using clue for almost 4 years, I loved that it was free and it would show an accurate prediction of your cycle. This past year with roe v wade overturning I saw a lot of videos, commets etc. On how you should not use a cycle app. To track your period due to the information/ personal information/tracking will be shared. During this time while still using clue I noticed they didn’t care for you to create a login with your personal information. The past year using clue I would click on the app. When needed and each time I used the app it would ask me to login to save data for my personal benefit and I would just click the ignore/skip button and continue on using the app. as needed. Side note, it never really pushed ads/in store purchases to much..which I liked. Going about a year after since it started frequenting asking/reminding me to login in/create an account for a more accurate prediction of your cycle. I always decided to skip/ignore that request and pretty much continue as a guest user. UNTIL… I just opened the app to check the status on my upcoming cycle and I’m locked out from using the app. Until I create an account. Very disappointing

Great ap, but sneaky marketing tactic.. I’ve had this ap for around two years and I love it. Even with my irregular periods, this ap has been helpful in recognizing something was off last year. Because of that, I was able to get ahead of a health condition that was getting in the way of my fertility! I recently signed up for a year of plus. I had already been thinking of it, but some information you can only see in plus. There’s a preview screen shot that you can’t read all of and then a prompt to upgrade. The screen may have stated somewhere in it that it was not specific to me, but I didn’t see it and on the screen shot it said something was irregular about my cycle, which really worried me. I upgraded and found that everything was fine and that was a default screen for when you don’t have plus. This was off putting for me because it seems like they’re using a scare tactic to sell a product, which to me is just gross. I still like this ap and will continue to use it, but for me, standard without plus was fine. It’s only ten bucks to upgrade for a year, but it is more the principle of their marketing technique.

So helpful and easy to use!. My friend recommended this app to me last year and it has been such a game changer. My personal anecdote of Clue having my back was just last month. I have anxiety, so I’m pretty prone to high levels of stress. My last few cycles were abnormally long and I couldn’t figure out why. But thanks to Clue, I was easily able to whip out my phone in front of my gyno and point to the exact dates that things started and ended. Together, we were able to figure out that the source of my irregularity was high levels of stress correlating with university exams. Of course testing was necessary too, but I probably would have still been concerned if my tests came back negative and I still had no answer as to why my cycle was acting up. I can’t always remember to write things down on paper, but it’s super easy to hit a couple of buttons on Clue and keep things catalogued. And thanks to that, I was able to debunk the mystery of my ungodly long cycles. People are offering great suggestions here, but Clue is still a wonderful app!

Great Health App!!. I've used this app for longer than I can recall; perhaps it's been three years now, and Clue really does continue to get better. I'm now 35 and no longer on the pill so I've been on the bc side and the no bc side (tubal). Clue truly helps you understand your body by including emotions, energy levels, sleep quality, along with all of the period symptoms that are more typically found in apps. The interface is so user friendly too. I've been able to track and control migraines along with identifying anxiety and times during the month that make me prone to migraines and panic attacks. The best thing about Clue is that my 17 year old daughter loves it. She didn't want a flower icon or anything else that screamed menstruation app at age 14 so she picked this Clue after much prodding from me. Now, all of her friends use it because they got tired of being unprepared and realized so many just knock off 28-30 days whether your cycle falls in that frame or not. They've also learned that hormones affect everything and know to keep Clue updated and front and center! Great app. Truly great!

Best period tracker. I love clue, is the best and most effective way to track my period. I have used this app for almost three years, and it almost always accurately predicts when my period is about to come (if not, it’s only one or two days off). The only reason why I knocked off a star is bc I really wish that they would take birth control into consideration when predicting my period. Whenever I logged in my birth control (I was on the shot so it was every few months), Clue would always tell me that my period was supposed to start the next day. The only reason why I didn’t like that is because it completely threw off my data when I got off of the birth control and my periods went back to normal. Now my periods are just the same as before I went on birth control, but clue is more likely to miscalculate when it’s going to start. With that being said, it’s not too far off, only being a day or two early or late. I still think that this is the best period tracker out there, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Pleasure to use! BEST tracker!. I don’t often write reviews of app, but as often as I recommend this app to my mom friends (both in real life and in groups that I admin), I feel like it’s time. Not only is the interface EASY TO USE, it makes ACCURATE PREDICTIONS, and it is the most VISUALLY PLEASING (and actually *fun!*) app of all my health apps and fertility trackers. I have kept 4 period tracker apps on my phone for years (for comparison) and this is my favorite. I also really appreciate that it is CUSTOMIZABLE, in that you can toggle on/off info that you want/don’t want to track, and even lets you CREATE YOUR OWN TAGS to track things that aren’t already part of the app! I haven’t invested in the premium version (considering it though, because I love the app!), but I also love that I am not bombarded by “tips” and ads and notifications about “community posts” that some other apps have. Also, it has an APPLE WATCH app! I have only the highest praise for this great app, I RECOMMEND it to everyone. Thank you developers, for making such a helpful and functional and pleasing to use fertility tracker!

Review and Suggestions. I’ve been using Clue since middle school. It has helped me so much with accurately tracking my period. I like all the options it has, ones that I can choose to see or not. I love the birth control pill option, and the information it gives me on what happens if late or missed. Overall, the app is wonderful and I would highly recommend if you want something easy to use. It’s customizable so if you don’t want to track your mood or daily habits and would rather focus on seeing your period and cramp habits, you have the option to not see them available so it’s easier to access. A suggestion I have that would help greatly is chance of pregnancy! I would love to see what days I’m most fertile. Especially for girls who have birth control methods, it’s hard to know when it’s safest to have unprotected sex since there is always a slight period where that option is open. I understand it would take time to insert that, but it would ease my mind knowing whether because I had unprotected sex these days, if I could risk pregnancy or not.

Please fix the PMS indicator. I have found the predictions to be very helpful and have started to notice trends in my cycle that I never really paid attention to before. I have been having very strong pms symptoms and my doctor wanted me to chart them to see if it warranted treatment. This is where my issues with clue come in. I love that it’s not pink and not flowers and doesn’t get all- isn’t womanhood magical?! Don’t even try telling me that when I am in pain or suffering. It’s just miserable. The app should tell me when I am in pms based on my symptoms. Sadly there is no option for night sweats, hot flashes, insomnia, or any of the other more severe symptoms I experience. Unless I click pms in mood the app refuses to recognize any of my days as having had pms. This is a major issue when this is what I am trying to track. I also wish there were more than 4 icon choices per category. Maybe a whole area of pms specific symptoms? So I can just say ok I’m having all of these things and not have to swipe through 10 categories. If they would improve this issue I would be so much happier.

Good! Needs more options. I’ve been using this for a little over a year and it has been good. It’s the second period/ovulation tracking app I use. I switched to Clue from Flo because Clue claimed to be free and Flo only had 1 month free trial. Now Clue won’t stop asking to upgrade (pay) to premium and has removed some of the free features to only available with a subscription. I wouldn’t mind paying after so long but only because all my information is there for over 1 year but all this time I have been wishing that it would get improved with every update. It has not. My main request would be that it would have more OPTIONS. As in more symptoms to log in. It’s very limited on that. Example: Under Emotions it only had “ Happy - Sensitive- Sad - PMS”. I think we should be able to log in more than that. Same as the Medication and Pain categories. Well all categories only have 4 options and that’s all. Hope to see it get improved soon so that I can justify it to myself that I should pay for this limited service versus going back to Flo for a few dollars more or looking for another similar app.

Amazing idea really, but could be better. I got the app with my 1st period so I didn’t know the difference between the flows, maybe would be better to use an image (not a real one)comparing the flow Types. Then at different times periods can be lighter or heavier, so instead of recording it for the whole day at once maybe it would be better to split days into morning, evening, and night for tracking. I also think that clue should average what you might feel, your type of pain, cravings, and things like that. But then again I haven’t had the app too long so I wouldn’t know if it does. There should also be a feature to say when you should change your product, although I understand that it may be difficult to do so because the app would need to know what you are using. The app in general is good but I also do think that if the person doesn’t know how long their period lasts, for example, me(1st timer) it would be good to consider irregular periods. Then again I haven’t had the app long, and it is very helpful so far just as a tracker. One question if I chose not to put an age where would I go to add one?

Update added some good things but ruined a lot. I’ve been using this app for four years now and have relied on it for tracking any irregularities in my cycle. Prior to the most recent update, the app would tell me if my period met the average, and if it was healthy. This was super helpful as I do not have easy access to a medical professional in case something were to go wrong. I also had access to tons of helpful and insightful articles for free! But now this personalized experience is locked behind a paywall, and while the update added some great new tracking options, it took away a lot of what made Clue feel important for me and for my body. While I can still track my cycle, the personalization of analysis is gone, and it just feels like the app is now telling me “There’s something wrong, but you have to figure out why and what to do yourself”- this didn’t use to be the case. Love the new changes, really don’t like what was taken away or locked behind a subscription. I used to have the option to learn (with easy access and convenience!) about my body, but now that comfort is gone. 👎

Long time user disappointed. I’ve been using this app for 4 years and have loved it. We used to be able to see an estimated ovulation window but they recently made updates, where now we see an estimated ovulation day, and the rest of the days of the month have a “potential fertile day” caption in the middle of the screen. (You can also turn the entire ovulation/fertile feature off.) I still want to see the estimated ovulation schedule. Even if it is not perfectly & scientifically accurate (how can it be? it’s an app, not a doctor), it had helped me understand my body better and at least gave me insight, or allowed me to assume why I was feeling a certain way, etc. I feel frustrated that every time I open the app, I’m reminded that it is a “potential fertile day.” I understand that it could be- but it feels more like a constant warning to not use this feature as a contraceptive instead of actually using this feature for what it seems like it was originally intended for, which to my understanding was to further understand the body. I wish I could get the old version back!

Free features are enough, privacy!. Love that it’s free and doesn’t track anything outside the app. Like after the update, when I went to log in, I couldnt remember what email I used so I went to all my email accounts to search “clue” and none of them had an email from Clue confirming my account. So I had to wing it. Thankfully I found the right account. My biggest complaint, why it’s not 5 stars, is the new colors with the update are so confusing. Firstly, they’re different than from before the update, and secondly they’re now too similar. Sex used to be baby blue, now it’s green. The contraceptive pill used to be yellow. Now it’s deep red, and the period/spotting is still red. So it’s hard to see what I tracked at a glance. There are more things/symptoms to track now which is fine except it’s overwhelming. I can’t just open up a day and look at a summary, either. The calendar is also too zoomed out. Basically I really do not vibe with the new UI this update. At all. Maybe I’ll get used to it. Or I might stop using it altogether cause my ADD brain can’t handle change this drastic.

Easy, informative, and empowering!. I’ve had trouble keeping track of my cycle and even general health for years, but I have now had Clue for several months, and it is very empowering! You can customize what fertility/hormonal symptoms or even more general health symptoms you want to keep track of, and just have to swipe through the categories and tap one of the four options for each that applies to you that day. I do this every morning, and it takes 30 seconds, tops. Clue also has options for keeping track of your doctor and ob/gyn appointments, and adding notes to particular days, which I have found very helpful in remembering when I’ve had appointments or begun birth control or other medication. Understanding my body’s rhythms at last has been so empowering! I now can work with my body rather than just waiting anxiously to wonder when Shark Week is going to arrive in a bunch of mostly unexpected blood, and have definite answers to give my health providers instead of general guesses. Thanks, Clue team!

Used to be good. Clue is an app that I’ve used for over 5 years. It used to be amazing. I would use it every day to track symptoms and my cycle habits and I loved being able to look forward at an estimated cycle in order to plan accordingly for packing for trips. The app gave you everything you needed to feel like you had a solid starting point to watching and monitoring your cycle, even if it wasn’t perfect. Now they’ve either removed the best things or stuffed them behind a pay wall. As a long time user that’s infuriating. You can’t see further down the months of your predicted cycle without paying money, and there is no predicted ovulation period. There’s now only one day. The entire app is based off of “this is just a prediction” and yet they removed what was essentially half the app for either avoiding or getting pregnant because of the fact “every individual is different and we can’t be sure of a window.” Then they proceed to narrow it down to ONE day of ovulation which would be more weirdly specific than a general possible window. The changes are so pointless and the opposite of helpful in any capacity. It ruins the app for me and I’ll be switching to a different cycle tracking app.

Really great!. I really like this app, I think it’s very helpful to be able to track your period, and gives a lot of explanations to what everything can mean in regards to blood flow, cervical mucus, and energy levels etc. For a while I was on the birth control pill, so I had a lot less need for the app because everything was always very structured with the pill, and I always knew when my period was coming. However a suggestion; I now have the non hormonal IUD, but there’s no option to change your birth control method to “non-hormonal IUD”, just “IUD”, so the app thinks I’m using hormones so it doesn’t allow me to track ovulation in my cycle. Even though I’m not looking to be pregnant (obviously), I still want to know when I’m naturally ovulating because I’m curious! I changed my birth control method to “none” so I’m able to see everything. Non hormonal iuds still let you ovulate, but the egg does not survive when it gets to the uterus. Either way, love this app and will continue to use it!

Great app, but... I love the Clue app. I have been using it for probably 4-5 years now and it’s always been very accurate as to when my period will begin. However, when I originally started using the app, all of the features were free. You could read more about your symptoms for free. I got pregnant the begging of last year, therefore quit using the app until my periods returned postpartum. When I returned I noticed “Clue Plus” and was no longer able to read about my symptoms. My question is, how can something be free for so long then all of a sudden you guys decide to make people pay for that feature? People who’ve been using it free all these years. I still use Clue, and I love the app as far as tracking, but it’s a let down that something was taken away unless I subscribe to something, just like every other app nowadays. It’d be nice to have the features back without having to pay monthly/yearly. I understand one time payment or whatever, but why $10 a month or $40 a year for something you used to give us for FREE? I just do not understand.

Great!. I’ve had this app for a couple years, and have had my period since I was ten. I used to keep track of what days I got my period on a physical calendar, marking the day with a red star, but I would forget to do it. Since I got Clue, I’ve been better at knowing when I’m going to get my period. It gives me notifications as to if I should be getting my period soon, and that gets me more aware of what pants to wear and when to wear a pad (I do that when I don’t have access to a change of clothes and don’t want to be taken by surprise in a public bathroom) to play it safe. I’m also one of those people who need to be in control of their body, their self, and their functions (“I am the one thing in life I can control!”) so when something happens that is beyond my control, I like to know the exact science behind it. Clue has scientific explanations on so many things surrounding the period that are good to read (I’m also one of those people who like learning things, so take it how you will).

helpful and reliable. tldr: helps with gender dysphoria, tracks a BUNCH of stuff, needs more options for birth control tracking i've been using clue for years now, and i love it for a lot of reasons. i'm nonbinary, and my period gives me a lot of gender dysphoria, but clue's visual design layout being fairly neutral/not very feminine alleviates some of that discomfort. i use it to track a bunch of other things too, like my mood, how frequently i get headaches, my weight, etc. my period can also be pretty inconsistent, and since i also use it to track my sexual activity, i can see if im late due to my body being weird, or something else. last month i started the pill, and not only does clue remind me to stay on track, but it also gives me a lot of helpful information on whether a pill is missed or late. my only criticism is that i'm using the pill to skip my period and there doesn't seem to be an option to set that. so every day the app tells me "your period starts tomorrow!!!" when i know it isnt and it's a little stressful. hope implementation for that is added soon!

More Options!!. I really love this app and how it can track my period! It is a total life saver from my anxiety because I’m always worrying about my period. But, something that would make me love this app even more is if it had more options. For example, in the emotions section, I usually have way more emotions in a day than what is offered as the four choices. Having some more options would be great. And for ovulation/discharge, sometimes it looks different on certain days and I would like to be able to document that in the tracker. I would also like to be able to document if I had woken up or not during the night in the sleep section, like the option of Insomnia. And my energy, I’m not always highly energized or have low energy, sometimes I’m right in the middle. Some more social options would be nice. And many more exercise options would be nice, because I do all different types of exceeded other than the ones offered. Basically, the point of this review is to say I love the app, but I would like more options to put in for data.

Newest update is awful - forced account creation. I have been using this app for years and loved it. It made tracking and predicting my oncoming cycles easy. It did what I needed it to do, track my period and warn me when to expect it again. I was using the free, no account version because I am concerned about my data being used nefariously (SCOTUS anyone?). I was fine having the limited functionality. I would have even paid for the app, as long as I could use it basically incognito. I opened the app today to check things and i am totally locked out. They won’t let you view anything you previously entered without creating an account and linking your data to their cloud. Absolutely not. I am not loading my private health information into their cloud when their TOS os very vague on how they use it. It’s also totally unacceptable that they are holding previous data hostage to force you to make an account. What a slap in the face. I’ll go back to my previous tracker. Edit post developer response: Telling me how to do the very thing I have been clear about being a problem is the opposite of helpful and just shows for clueless the Developers of Clue are about the issues facing women. This just reaffirmed my decision to stop using this app.

Super disappointed in the company now. I’ve been a user of this app for years and now suddenly they have changed the app features so much that much of my information that I have been logging for years (cycle lengths and history) is now hidden behind a paywall. I get some things they need to charge for like the extra analysis and such—but why change features that were previously free and take them away from customers? It’s ridiculous that I’ve spent all that time logging and I’ve been a member for so long but now I can’t access basic features unless I pay? How are your longtime members not grandfathered in to at least be able to view the app as they did previously without paying? Terribly greedy and deceitful to those who have been loyal to this app for this long. Especially without earning. Looks like they became just like the American women’s health apps —especially in this war against women’s health here in the US. Just another way to may it increasingly difficult to keep track of your cycle and be a woman in general. Well—I requested my info and I’m going to have all my data deleted from their database. I’m worried that the next step for them will be to sell that data to make more money like so many American companies do here without notice.

Anyway to Get The Old Version Back???. For the past 5 years I would have given clue 5 stars! It has helped me tremendously in keeping up with my mental and menstrual health and in keeping pregnancy anxiety at bay as a newly wed. The latest update has me searching for a new app though. I can overlook the color changes, they’re not the best but I can live with it. But I’ve had a few rounds of antibiotics that have rendered the pill useless; With the old version of clue I would add a tag/note and not log my taking the pill and this would keep up with my “unprotected days” until I was back on track. Having removed that feature, I now am missing some important health history from the past as well as having some trepidation about the next time I miss a pill or have to take antibiotics. I did not write this app off lightly, I’ve used it so long and will miss it but with that feature gone and a few of the other features changed, I need a different app that is going to make me feel more secure in my menstrual health. I wish I never would have let my phone automatically update because I would not have updated this app.

Horrible App Update - user since 2016. I have been using this app religiously since 2016 wihtout a single complaint. When I updated my app now I’m really sad to see the new design. It’s impossible to see any of your recorded data from previous months unless you click on every one of the newly designed graphics (they don’t tell you what you’ve logged otherwise). The little notes I’ve kept to myself over the last years are impossible to find. The only thing this is useful for now is tracking when my period is coming- which in fact is not that useful - and nothing else. What used to be an incredibly valuable app is now no longer going to be used. I will have to manually load all my data to another app just to make sure I have my history recorded somewhere I can trust. I urge the team to rethink this app update immediately as I’ve seen identical complaints with users with Clue since 2016 leaving similar comments. I am concerned because this is a health app and a lot of us are using it to maintain healthy lifestyles and maintaining our body. It’s not really something you should mess with because of cute new visuals your team has come up with.

Option to track food??. Helllooo! :) Just wanted to say that I love your app, I have zero complaints! I just would like to add something I think could make Clue better. The option to track the foods and/or drinks you consume, possibly at what time. I realize that this is an app about periods, but I’ve been learning recently that certain foods can mess with your cramps, make you gassy, make you dehydrated, etc. I would say I eat kind of unhealthy, due to being a picky eater. Every time I got my period, my cramps would be terrible the first 2 days, often I’d be in tears. I looked up ways to make them calm the hEck down and I figured out some foods help! I tried it out the following month, and it actually worked. My cramps lessened in pain. I think this would be a great touch to the app to learn more how food affects you. Maybe it could save someone a doctors visit, or even help a doctor to get more information about a person’s health. Thank you for reading and hopefully considering my idea. ~Lexi <33

Accurate and Insightful!!. With any period tracking app you will never get anything that is 100% accurate. However, clue has blown me away with how accurate it actually is! Since I started using it a few years ago I have never been caught off guard with my period (if you know what I mean)! This is not only because it gives you little warnings when your period is about to start, but it also gives you insight into your own bodily habits. By making you report things like your mood, hair, face, etc. you begin to notice the signs of your period (which are different for everyone). Last thing, this is also a great tool for young girls just starting their period (it may not be extremely accurate at first because puberty throws everything out of wack) but it has these little info buttons you can press to learn more about what certain things mean and when you should be concerned if something is off. *Side note I use the free version because I’m a masters student and can’t afford anything, so everything I just said is included in the free version!

The new update. Dear clue why did you change it ? This app used to be so done and so well, so informational without the clue plus and I’m sure clue plus has amazing features just I’m not wealthy enough to pay for it. I get you want people to get clue plus but taking away simple features like information about certain symptoms and things like that, making the thing way glitchier and sloppier, etc. won’t get us to buy the membership and it’s very frustrating when you do this. Like even the circle on the wheel is glitchy when moving it, and when you go to the calendar now the calendar and numbers shake a bit when you access it. Please make it go back to how clue used to be. I’ve been using it for 2 ish years now and this really troubles me lots, sense I can’t use flo sense I was born in 2007. And this app is so welcoming to the lgbtq+ community sense I am lgbtq+. Please make clue go back to how it used to be it’s so glitchy now.

Was almost perfect. Now just crashes all the time. This app was great for a long time. Good interface and predictions. It did it’s job pretty good. Then they started pushing the membership and I have no idea how they are using that money because the app has been crashing or failing to load for many, many months. I have waited long enough for this to be fixed. I’m unistalling today but wanted to leave a review since I’ve been a user for years. It’s a shame that they can’t or won’t figure out what’s wrong with it. Apps like these are very useful for us women but this one has become a big headache. No more. Edit: After I posted my review and deleted the app I got a reply from the developer saying the last update had fixed the issues. I decided to give it another try and the app is working great now. I left the rating on 4 because of all the time the app didn’t work. The problem shouldn’t have lasted that long. I have been using it this time for over a week and it’s working perfectly. Hopefully it stays this way😊

It [was] the best period app. I’ve been using clue for several years. It’s gotten me through undergrad, law school, and the start of my career. However, in the past few years, since they began advertising their paid subscription more often through the usage of push notifications, it’s become much less useful. One of the best features you look for in a period tracker app is the ability to predict the beginning of your next cycle. Clue does this, but poorly. I receive at least one notification per day from Clue, advertising the paid subscription, which causes major notification/alarm fatigue. Rather than actually reading the notification, I’m more likely to just delete them all because of how they clutter up the Notification Center. Therefore, I’m less likely to see the alert that my period is starting soon. Clue, I think you’re a great product with a bunch of great offerings. But please, at least give us the ability to turn off advertising push notifications. I don’t even mind in app banners or pop-ups, but your current advertising route is counterintuitive to the purpose and utility of your application.

LIFE SAVER. I’ve had this app now for years!! Like years before they started a membership for some extra perks years. I still use the free version but this app has answered questions, helped track when I’m sexual, to a night of drinks to when I’m stressed and my cravings. I’m able to look up tags to see when I tracked these specific things, I can track my flow and can see a calendar or a circle of my cycle. It’s super spot on to when I’ll start to the day my period ends. This also helps me take my birth control! I set a reminder at my appointed time for that reminder. Also can set reminders to track my day so I don’t forget! This saves me time at the doctors telling them when my last period was, my cycle length, sexual history, alcoholic beverages, my mood, my weight, literally everything personal all in this wonderful app! Absolutely love this app and I use it daily to track my life while on the pill and helps me track for myself easily in one place.

This app is a game changer!!. I am so grateful for this app for several reasons. First, I love that there are articles, research, and a podcast that links to this app and presents with incredibly helpful and interesting information. Second, I so appreciate that I have identified patterns through this app and actually realized that my IUD was having some problems because of it, which was amazing. Third, I love that I track this and my partner always gives input, which makes me laugh a lot and also sometimes he reminds me to track it because he sees the benefit as well for me and him! Overall, I love this app and am so happy with it!! It’s also worth paying the extra money to support a woman owned business! Last thoughts... There are two suggestions I’d make to the people that produce this app to make it even more awesome: - Add a way to track sleep quality rather than just number of hours you slept. I find that during my cycle I have different patterns of sleep and I’d like to be able to track this to predict and know when I might have a poorer night sleep. I would suggest putting on there the following 4 categories that you can multi select if you want; but also, do with this suggestion what you will: Good Sleep, Restless Sleep, Dreams, and Poor Sleep - The other suggestion I would make is to provide a place to jot notes down or journal. This would help to provide context for why you chose what you did so you could go back and see your notes.

Recent Update Lost Years of Data. A year ago I would’ve happily rated this app 5 stars. I’ve used Clue to track my period for the past 5+ years until one of the recent updates, where I lost pretty much all of my data. To say I’m disappointed is putting it lightly. :( I was so happy when I first found Clue because after a while, it predicted my periods pretty well for someone with a kind of irregular period and it was easy to track symptoms. Now, the predictions are way off because there’s no data anymore to accurately predict anything. The recent update changed the user formatting for inputting my symptoms and now I have to click in and out of every single category to put in each individual symptom, which is time consuming and inefficient. I understand wanting a fresh, new interface but it’s not an improvement if it’s inefficient. I never leave bad reviews but getting my period this morning after another inaccurate prediction was my last straw. I understand this may seem like a dramatic response to some, but 5+ years of trust and losing allllll that data is a lot. Overall, thank you Clue for the good years of accurately predicting my period but it’s time for me to find a different app.

PLEASE DECREASE THE FREQUENCY OF CLUE PLUS POP UPS. I understand that paid versions and ad free versions are par for the course with free apps. I have been using clue consistently for years, and appreciate its accuracy. However, almost every action in app prompts the ad for the paid version. I do not want to be asked every single time I track my flow or add a symptom if I want to upgrade. Would appreciate a way to say “dont ask me anymore today” or even “dont ask me again this cycle.” If say no on monday, chances are I will feel the same in 24 hours or less. Again, I take no issue with you having a paid version. I am aware you dont sell data, I am aware and appreciate that paid versions keep apps running and developers afloat. I take no issue with you making money. I just cannot afford and am not interested in a paid version at this time, and do not want to indicate as such for every in app action. Please take the multiple comments from other users about this frequency seriously; you probably would not receive so much aggressive and severe feedback if people were not being irritated out of their mind every time they used the app.

Updated and tanked. I’ve been using this app for a decade. I updated it finally and now information about my body THAT I GAVE YOU, that you use for research, marketing, and PROFIT is now hidden from me behind a paywall. My dudes, we are the product, not the consumer. The analytics that you provide are at most a courtesy compensation for the amount of BIO DATA that you gain and USE. Imagine taking someone’s photos albums and throwing them out and justifying by saying “You have tons of new photos. Why do you want the old ones?” That’s how this feels to longtime users. I’m happy to share my data with you to advance science and education for the betterment of us all. But it’s not yours to take from me and charge me money for access. Period. And to do that without any warning is especially violating and insulting. I’m just one person and you won’t miss my departure but I hope others see this and realize that they don’t need you. Girl, your bio data is as valuable to them as it is to you. This isn’t altruistic. There’s a whole institution dedicated to turning your data into money. And they have the absolute balls to charge $30/ year? Go back to the pencil and calendar. Unbelievable.

Great app, though full of unaddressed issues. I’ve been using this app since 2014, and it HAS been a great app to keep track of my period and other health related things. However, for at least the past two-ish years now, some things have been going awry. I have an Apple Watch, but whenever I get the notification about taking my birth control, if I select an option saying I’ve taken it, etc, it NEVER saves it in the app. Considering I’m working and doing things, this functionally would be amazing so I don’t have to quit what I’m doing just to make a note that I took my birth control that day. Additionally, the app is constantly slow upon opening it, sometimes even crashing or not loading data at all until I force restart or tap around frantically at some of the menus. Things in this app has gotten very inconvenient, which is a real shame. I’ve put in bug requests about the Apple Watch issue in particular, which I have reported back in 2018 AND last year. The second time I reported it they said to just have patience, which I am trying, but when there are multiple issues, it’s really hard to rely on this app.

Suggestions from the Husband of a Clue User. Hi, Developer(s), This feels strange for me to be commenting on this, but let me start off by saying that having explored your app (accidentally inputting my non-existent cycle information before I got it to track my wife’s account), I noticed some thing that could improve the relationship &/or life expectancy of the partners of your users. Notifications for us...as a partner that can follow y’all tracking the cycle of our significant others we can obviously see the data but what happens if we have a busy week and neglect to open the app...unforeseen consequences (pregnancy or pain). Wouldn’t it be a nice idea for a husband to know that the woman that he went to sleep with the night before was going to castrate him the next day once Aunt Flo decides to visit. Or something like nuclear bomb warnings go off the day before the fertile period hits. Just some thoughts of an amused but very impressed husband. No joke; y’all have done a good job. Keep up the good work.

Long-time user, big-time fan (with caveats). I’ve used this all for a few years now and it just keeps getting better. I love delving into random explanations of how things work from time to time and appreciate just how many elements can be included in their magical algorithm —if my body were any kind of normal, it’d be so very handy, not to mention trustworthy! I do get annoyed by silly little things that haven’t been improved yet, like how you can’t alter the original tags (nor your own); because if you’re, say, dragging yourself awake and open the app to input last night’s fun while it’s fresh in your mind, you might open the Tag screen to fall upon the loud “CERVIX HIGH, SOFT & OPEN!!!” or whatever ... which just sort of a buzzkill for someone like me I guess (also, annoyingly all-capsy and not really at all tag-like, but I did add the exclamation points for effect). Anyway, great app and I’m happy to contribute to seeing it get better and better, which it continues to do. Thanks for reliably giving me a clue, Cluemakers!

Update ruined it. I’ve been using this app for 8 years. Everything I loved about it is gone now. You used to be able to write custom tags and notes, that’s all gone now, even old data is deleted, with no warning!! I’m forced to see “ads” about ovulation and pregnancy all the time. That was probably the biggest reason I used to love this app: being inclusive of all kinds of people, not everyone wants to be reminded of pregnancy. The tracking is overwhelming and clunky now, I used to love how fast and simple it was. Now you have to click so many buttons to track each thing. I’ve been recommending this app for years to everyone who might need it, but no more. Now it doesn’t stand out at all from any other period app. The worst part is there was no warning at all about these major changes, or I could’ve recorded my notes and data elsewhere before it got deleted, and tried to find a replacement. I’ll be generous (I’ve had a great experience with this app for years, after all) and give one star for the unchanged color scheme. I do appreciate the neutral colors, without flowers and sparkles everywhere.

Disappointed Long-Time User. I NEVER write reviews, but I had to say something. I’ve been using this app now for about 5 or 6 years. I loved this app — loved all the features, all the reports — EVERYTHING. Recently with updates the quality has gone down the tubes. I’ve noticed a lot of other people sharing similar complaints, but it appears that the developers seem to either not care or are simply oblivious. Started with major issues getting the app to even load. For WEEKS. Finally yesterday I uninstalled and reinstalled — success! Seems to be working again!...Until this morning when I was essentially locked out of my account — told me I was logged into another device. Umm where? I only have 1 device! So either they have MAJOR bugs OR there’s a serious security breach. By the way, I’m also a PAYING customer — I loved the app so much that when they introduced subscriptions, I happily subscribed. Well, that’s all ending today. Deleting the app and cancelling my subscription. I’ve heard a lot of positive chatter about Flo, so I’m moving my business over there to try. So, so sad that so many of us have been loyal users only to have the developers decide we’re not worth it anymore.

No longer syncs with Apple Health. I purchased the premium version of this app and then it stopped syncing with Apple Health, which was a key feature for me. I know not everyone wants to enable this sync but it should be an option for those of us who keep our health information centralized. [update - the feature has been missing for months, I contacted support when I first realized it had stopped working and never got a response, tried emailing again today and got an auto-response saying they don’t monitor the support email. Used to be a great app but unfortunately they broke it for some undisclosed reason and haven’t gotten all the features back yet, hopefully they figure it out soon.] [2nd update - very glad Apple health is back, but it only “syncs” when you add or edit data, meaning that if you have months of history in Clue, it won’t transfer over unless you go into each day you have info entered, change something, save it, then change it back to what it should have been, and save again. Not an issue if you’re just starting to track but super annoying for those of us who have been using the app for years.]

Consider re-adding fertile window with and opt in swipe to turn on. I’ve used this app for a few years. It’s super helpful, but they just removed a feature that I really liked. They used to provide a PROJECTED fertile window. Apparently, some users were relying on this feature as a means of birth control—which the app no where advises! I am all for sexual and reproductive education, but the onus is on users to seek out accurate information on how or how not to get pregnant. I think designers of the app could have the obvious disclaimers that are active now without actually removing the feature. Personally, I used the possible fertile window to plan my cycling syncing—diet, exercise, supplements, sex, travel. Please consider re-adding this feature as an option users can turn on, with a push notification reiterating it is still possible to get pregnant as there is no way to ensure its accuracy. All in all, this a great app, and I love the work this women-founded company is doing. Thank you!!

Good but…. This is a pretty good period tracker app. It’s not too gendered, it doesn’t assume that you want to get pregnant, and it backs up your information with Apple health. I switched from Planned Parenthood’s spot on period tracker after they lost several months of data for the second time. One major downside though is if you’re using the ring they can’t tell when you will need to remove or insert the ring next. So if you’ve just inserted a new ring, three weeks from now you’ll need to remove it and four weeks from now you’ll need to insert a new one - but that’s not indicated on the calendar and there doesn’t seem to be a way to add it. I guess if your period lines up with the exact date the ring is removed it shouldn’t matter because of the cycle prediction but I wouldn’t be surprised if most people don’t experience it that way. It’s also frustrating that there’s only the one theme and no darker options available. It’s pretty bright if you’re on your phone at night.

This app is bias, and I do not recommend.. I have LOVED using clue for the last 5 years. I have loved the style and the way the app looks and works, logging in everything in experiencing. I recently thought I was pregnant due to a late period. Clue had a link "what if my period is late" and I was looking forward to some medical insight on many reasons why it could be late. Instead, I read paragraph after paragraph on how I have "choices" and the right to murder (or they call it abort) my potential child and to stay away from crisis pregnancy centers that use "scare tactics". I've been to pregnancy centers and what I received there was professional medical help & advice, and a much better experience than what I have read at clue- positivity that if I do happen to be pregnant, that life inside me is worth more than my circumstances. Clue is obviously a biased company who is promoting the death of millions of innocent lives in the name of "women's health". I will not be recommending. I'm not sorry to go and I will be spreading the news to my friends, who value life at every stage, especially the innocent. Clue, please keep your opinions on my "options" to yourself and actually give some medical/health information/help.

Best period app I’ve ever used!. I’ve been using Clue for about a year, and I’m so thankful for this app. It’s very important for women to keep track of their periods each month. I love that this app gives the options to describe my periods in detail AND it reminds me when my fertile days are, when my pms is coming up, and when my period is coming up! Before I started tracking my periods, I had a hard time remembering the specific dates of when I’d start and stop my period, what it was like leading up to it, during it, and after it. I couldn’t remember how long my cycles were. I have a period each month, but with all that goes on in life each month, I sometimes don’t even remember if I had a period or not. Last year, I had a lot of issues related to my periods, and I had to go to the doctor a lot. This app was so helpful in me being able to describe my usual symptoms versus my unusual symptoms. Honestly, I’ll probably never go back to not usual a period tracker. This has been a life saver for me!

Has some good features. The good: tracks your periods, can customize what you want to track such as adding different tabs (ie: sex, pain, etc.), can even add your own tags, can set a daily reminder to take your pill that adjusts to what ever time zone you're in, and nice at a glance information about your period you can see. The drives me up the wall: I had to reset my pill reminder after an app update because it didn't go off (I've had to do this a couple of times), whenever I go in to log I've taken my pill it takes a while to load other days (usually have to back out to the main calendar and then go back in), even scrolling from my main information input to logging in my pill isn't a nice, quick, seamless scroll, it does this weird flashing to the main calendar (making me think it mini crashed) and then it will go to the pill logging page, and I know they've gotta make money but the subscription ad is a tad annoying. Now when it comes to some of the issues I have/had, the app hasn't always had them and I've used the app for a long time (2015) that I'm not really looking forward to exporting it to somewhere else.

Clue lover. I’ve been using clue for years and I love it! I’ve tried many tracking apps but this one has been my favorite! I like that you’re able to customize what you want to track as well. A couple things I’d love to be able to track as well would be things like lower back pain, and hot flashes. Which are two things I get often on my period. It also used to share information with the iPhone health app as far as sexual activity, which I really liked because the health app has a lot of other data in it from my Apple Watch that clue doesn’t track because it’s not made for that! since Apple has updated the health app to also include period flow, the two apps don’t sync anymore and I find myself tracking in clue first and then the health app. I would really like for clue to be able to sync up with the health app automatically again so it can show my period symptoms/ flow as well as sexual activity in the health app without me having to log everything twice!

Disappointing. Came here to see if other people were just as upset, and they are. I’ve used this app for I want to say 5 years if not more. So, YEARS of tracking my cycle that now I have to pay for to see. And all my old data flushed down the toilet (unless I want to pay $120 a year of our hard earned money). All I use it for is to 1. Predict when I will have my period and 2. See my cycle lengths. I can’t even access that old data now (without jumping through incredibly inconvenient jumps). I would understand implementing a fee to new users, or charging for more complex features, but for the users that have been using this just to simply see when we’ll start our cycle, this is extremely disappointing. I hope they change this, seeing that they will lose a ton of customers for a very basic feature we can get elsewhere for free (just like we used to with Clue). Seems like customer service is just going out the window these days. Not to mention how absolutely INSENSITIVE it is for the women that have been using this for a good amount of time. AN ALTERNATIVE: I would be willing to watch an ad to cover whatever cost they’re trying to make just so I can use the one basic feature I’ve used for years.

Love this app but suggestion. I have been using this app for over a year now and have found it extremely helpful. 5 stars if they can do anything about my suggestions. Prior to my husband’s vasectomy it made it easy for me to remember when to change out my Nuvaring. Since I have stopped using birth control it has helped me track when I can expect my period and made doctor’s visits a little easier. You know, ‘when WAS the first day of your last period?’ I don’t have to hunt down a calendar and think about it anymore. Also, it has helped me get a better handle on when my PMS is beginning so I can take steps to mitigate the symptoms and fallout. Lol! Now, my suggestion, please stop asking for money every single time I use the app to track. It is extremely annoying. Also, while I would very much like to donate/invest some money in the app a monthly amount is not possible for me at this time and the yearly subscription is more than I can manage. Is it possible for you to offer a way for folks who want to contribute but have more limited resources to give what they can as they can?

Had it for a couple years now!. I got this app a year or two ago to help me figure out when my next period was coming, to keep track of the days between my periods, and to maybe figure out a few things about myself along the way. Through out the time I've had it, it has only helped me and the app has grown to include so much more than just tracking your period. It also tracks ovulation, pms, almost every symptom out there, and whether you have certain cravings, your energy level, weight, motivation, sleep, etc. It has helped me keep track of me: my body, my feelings, everything I'd want to know or need to know to tell a doctor if something is wrong, or even when everything is going right. Mostly it has been able to predict the day of my period or at least the week, but recently I have not been hitting my mark, which only helps me to know that maybe I should go see a doctor. This app will help you in ways that you wouldn't know you needed, until you had it!

Good but be careful. I have always loved using this app cause it makes it really easy to track your period and taking the pill on time. It also really helps to find the abnormalities in your periods and try and figure out what happened that month. However, I just updated to the most recent version of the app and when I went in to see when my next period would start the app wouldn’t open and continuously crashed every time I tried to open it. When I restarted my phone it still crashed so my only other option was to delete the app and reinstall it. Once I had logged back into my account I realized that it had DELETED THE LAST 6 MONTHS OF THE DATA I HAD ON MY PERIOD. At first I thought maybe I had accidentally logged into the wrong email and it was showing me some really old data but it was too recent for that to be true. Plus there were only two emails that could’ve been connected to an account on the app. So now I have to guesstimate the last six months of periods, most of which were abnormal for me. So just be careful when you use the app and update it cause it very well may delete all the data you’ve accumulated.
