This app is terrible. Do not download. I stayed at a hotel and it said to use this app to connect my phone to the tv. When I did I was not able to stream anything all I could do is turn the tv on/off and Change the volume. Then when I went to delete the app I find out that the app won’t let me delete it; it doesn’t even show up in my apple apps In my settings. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP!!!

This app earned its 1 star rating. It lets you change the channel… and that’s about it… just buy a remote at this point

Absolutely does connect. I feel like people who can’t connect are inept at following directions. Click “google chromecast” on your hotel tv guide and follow the directions closely. (They will ask you to join a specific WiFi). Then All you need to do is open a streaming app on your phone, and click the streamcast button. It really is that simple.

Doesn’t work. I’ve used several times in the past but has stopped connecting, even after several reinstalls. Consistently gives an error

No sense. It just doesn’t make any sense at all, why if I can connect to a phone over wifi am I not able to stream content from my phone, I understand it’s a small leap from the way this works now but it is actually functionally useless otherwise, you cannot access the thing that lets you use your phone as a remote, without a remote. So you get less control for more effort, brilliant

user experience of a stripped screw. The other reviews are accurate and mostly summarize the issues, but let channel my inner amateur QA. Download the app, connect, change the volume from default. Close the app, reopen it. The volume slider returns to default (my room's TV was 50% of the max volume). My condolences if this happens, and on reopening the app your finger slips and loses contact with your phone screen before an attempt to lower the volume. At this point, you've woken up everyone in your hotel room. As you frustratingly try to set the volume to the prior snafu value, 20, you realize that trying to set the volume to value 20 with the app actually is not possible. The most granular increments you can set are 21 or 19. Obviously a non issue usually... apparently this is a forbidden volume level and swiping in the toggle will to try to get to that volume level drops you at 21 or 19. Obviously, this would normally not be a big deal, but combining it with the previous observation along with the expectation that THE REMOTE APP SHOULD FUNCTION THE SAME AS THE REMOTE (for reference, none of the issues described applied when using the physical remote), has resulting in myself writing this overly verbose review. tl;dr Unless you have literally lost the physical TV remote in your hotel room, there is literally no benefit to installing this app

Misleading. When you turn on the TV it says to Press 1 to connect a different device. It does not allow you to mirror your phone at all! I believe they need to reword the instructions

Terrible!. I tried to follow directions on my tv and some intrusions in reviews but couldn’t get it to work or find google chrome cast anywhere on my tv. I tried on other devices to see if it would work then but it didn’t. I wouldn’t recommend if you want to stream from Netflix or another streaming platform.

Utterly worthless. Can’t cast. Won’t cast. Device not found. Eff you. Directions didn’t help. Trouble shooting didn’t help. Call the number and you get recorded useless directions.

Ehh. Worked for a while but after a while couldn’t finish an hour long episode without it crashing every 5 minutes. On two different phones

No Chromecast. This app functions as a remote for the most part. However, the Chromecast functionality is non-existent. It did not work on either of our TVs at the Fairmont. At $2K a night (twice as much as the Hyatt), they can’t even get Chromecast to work in this janky app.

Why is this better than the TV remote?. It seriously only turns your phone into a TV remote while you’re holding the actual remote in your other hand. Only necessary if your TV remote dies in your hotel room.

Scam - Do not waste your time. Very simply, this app does not allow you to cast your media apps on the tv. The other reviewers saying it does must work for or own the app. This app is garbage. It is a remote only and your room should already have one of those.

Misleading at best. Don't waste your time. You see the note on your hotel tv to download the app but you can't do anything except change channels. Not good. NO: YOU CANNOT USE THIS TO CAST FROM YOUR PHONE!

Yes, misleading!. Made the mistake to not read the reviews before downloading. Very misleading. Thought I’d be able to cast content from my phone to the TV but no. This just turns your phone into a remote. Bruv why?

Works as advertised but why?. What is the point of this application? I want to stream to the TV not use my phone as a remote.

Doesn’t do what TV says it can. The TV says you can access your account and you can check out of your hotel and some additional features but all it is is the remote. Obviously, it says it on the description on the app but the only reason I only search the app to download it is because the TV said it can control the TV and access the account with the hotel. There’s not even an option on here to do that.

It worked for me. I may be in the minority, but this worked for me. I was able to do what I was told - change the channel, change the volume, look at the guide. This was at a Hilton brand hotel. Connection was great

Not worth it.. It won’t even allow me to connect to a tv at all. Customer service is no good either. No one answered the phone.

No Screen Mirror. This app lets you change the channel, change the volume, and power off the TV. Something the TV remote also does. This app is entirely redundant and useless.

App works perfectly. Once you download the app and are connected to the hotel wifi you simply close the app and go to your app of choice on your phone. Once you select a program within Netflix for example that program will have a little rectangle box on it. Select the box and then select the chromecast option and the program will be mirrored on the TV.

What They Say is True. No casting abilities. Worthless use of an app, because the room remote is enough. If you’re going to make a remote app, make it so that you can cast to the TV. Whoever said it does cast, that’s not the case for everyone else. This was for Hilton hotel. Would not recommend at all.

Dumb. Have never had a problem casting before this. It doesn’t cast. None of the descriptions of the good reviews work (had already tried them). And, why pay $5/day to cast content you already paid for onto a screen? It felt like a rip-off to begin with, even if it worked, and then it didn’t work.

Hot trash. Staying at Sheraton. I can connect no problem, but there is no way to stream to the tv. There is no channel in the guide, nor is there any other visible way to stream. I’m tech savvy and this is trash.

Awesome!. Instead of fumbling with a remote and figuring out channels you scroll through them on your phone. Easy and helpful.

Basic but works. Works as advertised. Let me change channels and volume in my hotel room. Still have to touch the remote to do the pairing thing otherwise good.

I thought it sucked at first too. But then I read someone else’s review that explained how to make it work! I will say that the instructions were lacking in my hotel (Hyatt) and without coming to read reviews I would have literally never known how to do this. 1. Download the app 2. Connect to hotel wifi 3. Connect the app to the Google chromecast option on your tv 4. Once the app is connected and is functioning as a remote, leave the app and open your preferred streaming service app 5. Find what you want to watch and select the Cast icon and your TV will appear!! I had to disconnect and reconnect once, but after that it worked great all week. Hope this helps someone else.

Literally JUST a remote.. If you’re paying for a hotel, why wouldn’t you have a remote to the tv, and if you don’t, call the front desk and get a new remote. This app literally just lets you turn the tv on/off, change channels, and control the volume. That’s it. No casting capability. I type this as I have a functioning tv remote next to me, therefore making this app completely useless.

It works. I was able to share Netflix to my hotel TV. Just wait for the pop-up on your TV that tells u when it’s ready

Does what it says, not much more. This app uses your phone as a remote control as the description states. Do not expect casting, the app doesn’t claim to be. Look at your TV remote. Look at the app. Look at the TV remote. Same. Three stars since it doesn’t add any value over the actual remote. - no guide - no mute - no sleep timer - not much faster switching channels than the remote Only value-add is being able to see channel names and jump direct but still, very small value add. See those things on the remote, those are called “buttons”, there, now you don’t need your phone.

It works. I mean.. it’s very useful when the remote batteries are dead and the hotel superglued it shut 🤷‍♂️

Just why. Had to give it 5 stars because app works as intended but why?. Thought this was going to allow streaming to TV from connected device but it is just a remote.

What happened to detailed schedule. You used to be able to put has the ability to see local schedule but no longer? Why, no longer an option?

Why does this exist. This app is the most misleading thing I’ve ever had the misfortune of downloading. The hotel tv and description said it would allow me to “control the tv with my phone”, which I obviously thought meant I could broadcast and mirror my phone to the tv. Instead it turned out to be a mobile remote. Just use the remote! I don’t see the point of this, and I wish they could make it clearer that it’s just a remote in your phone.

It’s annoying, but does the job.. It all really depends on the TV and the limits it has. Hotel I’m in only has so many channels, and the app is just a quicker way to change from channel to channel. The TV I’m using doesn’t have the chromecast option to stream, so now I’m being forced to watch Kelly Clarkson.

Pretty useless.. Who wants to watch the boring channels on hotel TV? We all want to stream from our own devices and watch what WE want…so I travel with a Chromecast. This app won’t do it…

Simple & Effective. Great way to control hotel tv. Don’t have SLOWLY scroll through Tv guide with remote. U can quickly jump from channel to channel. 👍🏽

It works, but. This app is FINE, but it’s only a remote control, as the description says. Some TVs also have a Chromecast feature, some TVs don’t, but that has nothing to do with this app.

This app is terrible and so misleading. Never getting this again.. So I was in my hotel room, trying to connect this app to a show app. All it is, is a list of channels. Not even the schedule for the shows. Like, it’s leaving me with nothing to do. I’m trying to watch my own shows and not live tv. I can’t even connect to the tv. Even the Wi-Fi can’t connect to the tv and get me the CORRECT hotel room number.

Did not work. Tried to stream from my iPad to hotel. It did not work at all. The hotel room screen went black. Tried quite a bit of troubleshooting to no avail. Now I’m paranoid that this is a scam to steal personal data from everyone’s computers when they try to connect. 😣😣

Delivers on its promise. I don’t quite get the hate for this app in the other reviews. It does exactly what it claims to do in its description right here on the App Store: change the channels, adjust the volume, and control the power. (Apparently, certain reviewers here are too inept to even read this, or perhaps they delight in playing the victim and saying they were “misled”.) Yes, this is very basic functionality, but it’s a lot more convenient to flip through channels via a labeled list on your device rather than punching in a meaningless, ambiguous number or using up/down on the remote, so the app is a clear improvement here; the other reviewers saying that the app is “useless” don’t know what they’re talking about. With that said, the app is missing basic functionality that is standard on remotes, such as mute (the only way the app lets you zero the volume is by dragging the volume slider to the bottom, and there’s no quick way to return it to its previous level), previous channel, and similar functions, so it’s a step down from that standpoint. Hence only three stars. By the way, while other reviewers claim that the app allowed them to cast to their TV via AirPlay or Chromecast, I did not find this to be the case. Perhaps my hotel didn’t enable this functionality or its TVs were not compatible with it? Here again, though, while this would be nice to have, the app doesn’t promise it, so I can’t fault it.

I would rather rip out my eyelashes than use this remote. I’m am appalled. As Tyra Banks said “ i cannot give you a zero so I will give you a one.” I went in blind to this app thinking I would be able to cast something on my hotel tv, however I was thoroughly mistaken. It turns out it’s a low budget remote. It had like five HBOs I didn’t even know there were five HBOs. I turned the channel accidentally to a horror movie and the tv conveniently disconnected the device so I couldn’t change it. I was scared. What’s more is the logo for this app is a carbon copy of the Peloton logo. I smell copyright infringement. All this to say I will unfortunately not be casting my real housewives of Orange County onto said hotel tv and I will be taking my money, tears, and dedication elsewhere. Literally only shows the name of the channel. Doesn’t even show what is playing on channels. Purely navigation, but you already have to have a channel in mind and know what’s on it so seems pointless to get. Waste of time

Literally doesn’t work. The app supposedly allows you to cast content to your hotel tv but it has never worked at any hotel I’ve stayed at. Following instructions carefully will not help you, the device to cast to is never found. Tried with both iPhone and a Samsung and with multiple establishments. Don’t waste your time.

Waste of time. After trying for over 30 mins, the only thing the app could do was change the volume on the hotel tv and even that was accomplished after a long delay. Total waste of time.

Doesn’t mirror phone. just used for a mobile remote, which is completely redundant.

I miss the TV listings feature.. The app seems to be way less reliable on connectivity than it used to be and I miss the ability to get TV listings in the app too.

Pointless. The tv at palazzo in Vegas says to download this app to connect to your mobile. I assumed it would be so I can cast Netflix or something, but it’s just a remote control. No point downloading it unless you’re grossed out by germs on a hotel tv remote.

Ig the app works but. ig it does control the volume and the power but other than that, this thing is completely useless. 1 star because you made a service that is useless, thanks

More than useless just a waste of time. Follow instructions TV says connected. App says error try again later. Close app reboot tv try again. Repeat. Then write bad review. Don’t waste your time.

Room for improvement. This app does not provide the user any value. It’s not a positive experience at all. The first impression of ‘connect mobile device’ makes the user think casting / airplay is possible. It’s not. I hope the developers of this app will invest in UX better in the future to create a better user experience. With such a captive audience of hotel guests, this could’ve been a great solution for modern travellers wishing to free their travel cases from cables and their necks from craning over a tablet!

Does what it’s supposed to. App is a simple, straight forward download and set up. You can turn tv on/off, change volume, and browse channels right from your phone. Very cool and nice not to have to use the grotty hotel remote. Worth a download.

This app is a joke. You cannot play anything from your device to this app. What kind of app is that?

Nice to get the channel list. Channel list easy to scroll. Easy to find and select a channel. Volume control a bit odd, but functional.

What’s the use?. It is just a remote app and have leas functions than a remote. No use of this app as it does not cast from the phone.

Why?. Can scroll through the channels but can’t see what’s on. Doesn’t cast to tv. Does much less than the remote. Don’t really see a purpose for it. Since downloading, tv hotel reverts back to the home screen every 10-15 minutes interrupting what you are watching.

Most useless app I’ve ever seen in my life. I am in disbelief that a software developer actually went through the motions of creating this App. You download it to your phone, only to use your phone exactly like the TV remote that you already had in your hand… You can’t cast your phone to your TV, can’t watch YouTube, can’t play movies, nothing from your phone. You download their trashy app to use your phone as a remote control to watch Cable TV (with the actual remote that you NEEDED to connect your phone, uselessly sitting by you). Major fail, 0/10 rating. Are they brain dead???
