Here's my warning, 1. you do not get your money back, read the fine print. No one has gotten back to me still, it's been a couple weeks. 2. After the first two weeks you will get lumped into a much larger group. The coaches are nice but there's no way they can make that many people feel included. It's really difficult to keep so many people at the same pace, it would be nice if they could group certain people together based on their focus. Don't think that's happened. :/ what a waste of 120 bucks
I signed up for the trial but cancelled immediately. Apparently, Noom Inc. has no record of this. They have been charging my credit card for 5 months and refuse to issue a cancellation. This is crappy customer service and deceptive. Don't download this app.
Not a great service and EXTREMELY hidden cancellation process. Sooo not worth it.
I use the subscription version of this app and really love it. I'm four weeks into the 16-week coaching program and have lost 7 pounds. I like the accountability without going to sit in a room every week with a bunch of strangers. I get the one-on-one attention I need along with group support when I want it, within the digital realm of course. The database of foods is impressive, and it's easy to add something that may be missing. The daily articles are short and useful. I hope there's an iPad version soon.
The power of the Noom program is not the app. It has very inconsistent design. How you back out of any page varies by where you are, and sometimes there's simply no escape except to close the app & start again. Also email requests for support on the app are simply never answered. So know going in it's a crappy app and the power of the program is the support, articles, group and coach involvement, psychology, etc.
**Hang in here or skip ahead to the BUT**: The good: I absolutely fell in love with Noom, to the point of paying $60/mo. for it when I don't even have enough money to fill my car with gas. Yes, irrational, but that's how falling in love is. The program is working! I'm not only losing more weight than I ever have-- and more easily than I ever have-- the tools I'm learning are changing my whole life. I'm dead serious. In less than a month I've been instilled with confidence and hope. BUT. BUT-- after the third week, the format of the program changed DRASTICALLY. Now the program isn't giving me tools to change my life. It consists of just reading a couple of articles a day. At this point the most I'd be willing to pay is $1.99-- total-- to continue to use their food logging tool. If that. Unless the format changes back, I will not renew another month and would strongly discourage anyone from signing up. Get yourself a magazine subscription to anything that runs a health or weight loss article or two, use one of the many free fitness/weight loss apps, and you're saving yourself $60/month. I'm considering quitting, then starting over again. The first three weeks are life-changing, empowering, inspiring, effective, exciting, fun, and something I look(ed) forward to each day.
I impulsively did the free trial sign up then decided it wasn't for me. I couldn't find a way to cancel and figured maybe I hadn't completed the sign up process-I never really used the program. lo and behold a $159 charge hits my credit card. Regardless of the value of their program, this is unethical and a scam.
I love the app, my only request is to add Skateboarding to exercise options because I and a few of my friends I know use this app and would like to log our time skateboarding
This app steals your money. There is no easy way to cancel. Following their cancellation instructions do not work. Several people are talking about filing a class action lawsuit.
I cancelled two months ago and am still being charged each month. I have tried contacting someone at Noom to no avail.
They say that you're going to get a personalized weight loss plan. You don't. You get automatically added to a group, daily tasks that you read, and food logging. When you cancel before your trial is over they try to charge you anyway and put you in a group with others who have cancelled with nothing. So you don't really get to finish your free trial. If you try this, be sure to use Paypal to pay so you have recourse. Use a different app, this one doesn't offer anything different than if you're doing it yourself.
It's a meal tracker with a chat room. There was zero individualized plan. There was not fitness plan. The "coaches" were basically silent with exception of a few generic infographic/motivational posts. You'd think the first 2 weeks they would try the hardest so people would stick with it and pay the big $$. A lot of people in the chat say they were charged even though they got the cancellation confirmation before their free trial expired. I just cancelled but I will raise hell if I'm charged. There are many better FREE apps.
There is no "program"; you're left to flounder along on your own.
Noom doesn't do anything different from other dietary programs but defraud customers. They charge you the full rate even if you requested a cancellation 2-3 weeks in advance of the program start date. They have NO program and app support. If you have an issue and try to contact then, you will not hear back from them for days on end and still be charged.
The tips and coach are nice but the main part of this is logging meals and you are able to do that from the app. I prepare a lot of my own foods so it is tedious to try to enter a recipe on the app. Also, the scan barcode function is no good. If it doesn't recognize the product scanned then you get bupkis. You must purchase several months at a time which is non refundable 👎
So far (week and a half in) I'm pretty happy. Losing weight, eating more healthily, feeling positive. A little frustrating that the app is glitchy-- no sync between ipad and iPhone so need to record everything on iPhone only. Sometimes just hangs in a quiz so I need to force close and restart. The psychology if the product seems sound. Having read the other reviews now I hope there is support beyond tge two week free trial.
I hesitated at first bc of some of the reviews here, but I gave it a shot. So first of all, it's a subscription, so like all of your iTunes subscriptions you have to go on iTunes to cancel - so those ppl saying it's a scam and they couldn't cancel, just don't know how iTunes works... ok now to the awesome stuff. This App has changed my life!! I was so sick of diet after diet of shake for breakfast and lunch and blah blah blah - that doesn't work. This goes one day at a time, building confidence bit by bit - at my pace - matches me w a group of peers that are like me; we motivate each other; the coaches are encouraging and supportive; the app is funny! And best of all -- I've lost weight, and I have learned to change my behaviors to sustain the weight loss. Give it a shot - 10 min a day might just change your life. 😊
While I have been able to use the logging system well and lost some pounds --- the coaching went from personally good to horrible They changed coaches often and they did not provide personalized coaching Too bad
This app isn't bad, but you only get half of the services they tell you you'll get. And it's hard to cancel a free trial. Again, it's not bad, but if you're going to try a free trial, don't.
The Noom program has given me every single tool that I need to be successful in my weight loss journey. And the extra bonus are all of the lovely people you meet along the way!
