Noom worked for me - but that was 99.999999% bc of the automated part - the calorie counting/meal logging, exercise logging, and little items to read every day. The coaching and groups IMO are pointless. Your “personal coach” checks in with you once a week and essentially says “how are you doing”. Then if you ask a question they send you a link to an article. They do zero pushing or real coaching IMO. The groups aren’t much better. The group “coach” may ask a question like “how did you take control of your calorie intake today” and then let’s the group members (I.e you) talk. My take is Noom would not only be better for their users if they offered a cheaper membership without the coaching, but they would not much much more profitable if they didn’t pay their “coaches” and just went to an automated service. That reasoning alone is making me switch to a different service that is considerably cheaper.
This is so much more than a calorie/ exercise app. There is a lot of informational support. Most especially there are people assigned to you as your mentor and coach. Besides that, you are assigned to a group of other app users who are also there to help you along and keep you accountable. So, I have been using this app for less than five weeks. I have lost more than 10 pounds and have retired my favorite belt which is now too big! I’m glad to let it go along with those extra pounds. I have absolutely no doubt that I will finish this process all the way to my desired weight and remain there. I wish you the best with your efforts.
The articles are okay, good and fine. The coaches are a nightmare. Noom support is non existent. Try lifesum, it was more helpful and cheaper than this waste of money
I signed up for the trial and just didn’t have the time to dedicate to really trying Noom’s services. I tried to log onto my account portal to cancel, but I got a loading page that never loaded. Unfortunately I was charged the 2-month fee because I couldn’t figure out how to cancel. I messaged my goal specialist asking how to check when my 2 months is up and was instructed to log into my account portal which, again, would never load after entering my log-on info. I’ve tried several times to log in through my phone and I get the same error. I finally logged on through my computer and was able to cancel. This is very concerning to me as this is a mobile-based app, but I can’t access my account info through my mobile device. I’ve messaged the company with my issue and strongly suggested to look into this error as it’s deceiving to consumers, especially those that want to cancel. Now I’m stuck with a $99 2-month membership that I know I’m not going to use but was unable to cancel because of technical difficulties with their website.
I like Zoom, especially the encouragement and helpful psychological tips
The hardest part of losing weight is losing your mental edge that prompted you to do something in the first place. Noom really helps with that in a couple of ways. First it is a continual reminder on your phone to weigh in and be thinking about your eating habits. Second, you are placed in a group which is encouraged to interact with one another for moral support and weight loss discussion. Lastly, it has an abundance of educational materials which help to shape your approach to eating. So if you are someone who needs to have regular oversight and interaction on your weight loss journey, I recommend Noom. I have done WW, the Zone and others but find Noom to be the most engaging and effective.
This app is too expensive for what it is. Almost all of the information is info that you know about health and fitness. And if you forget to cancel your membership after 14 days you are charged and will NOT be refunded even if you haven’t used the app. Make sure to pay attention to the date you must cancel after the free trial. Might work for some but with very little leg work I could do all this on my own.
This is just a good logging app plain and simple. The “coaches” don’t give you any information (at least mine didn’t) she just kept asking me questions like “what should you eat today?” like I don’t know, you tell me… Essentially this is my fitness pal except you have to pay for it👎🏻👎🏻
*** BE CAREFUL ABOUT YOUR SUBSCRIPTION! *** Noom likes to get you by making it hard to unsubscribe. I literally woke up one morning to find they billed me again. Then I had to dig to find out how to cancel my subscription. They’ll probably still keep my money; I’ll update this if they decide not to be a bunch of thieving jerks. When I first started Noom, I had a wonderful goal specialist who was very supportive and helped keep me engaged and on track. Then she left and I was assigned someone else. My new goal specialist was not nearly as supportive. I never got reminder texts when I wasn’t engaging with the app. Food tracking is also a LOT of work. Hopefully if they took your money already, it’ll work for you. Don’t forget to ask them to cancel our subscription so you don’t get auto billed (and at a higher rate than they’re offering to new subscribers).
I have the most patient goal coach. She won’t let me give up. The info you receive to overcome poor eating and lifestyle habits is worth the price. Noom offers tried and true psych tricks to defeat the cycle of defeat and lose the weight in a healthy way.
I unsubscribed months ago and was recently charged for another subscription. Be very careful, apparently you need to unsubscribe not only from the app, but via PayPal as well (and by other means as well that I'm still not clear about). I am one of many who have been stung by this - proceed with caution! This is a nightmare for me to untangle now.
I paid for $1 for a trial and a week later was charged $129 from my paypal account. I don’t even use the app. There website says there’s no refund. So I’ve just paid $130 for an app I don’t want nor will use. Buyers beware!!!!!!
SCAAMMMM !!! I cancelled the free trial the next day of downloading and deleted the app and I just found they took $199 out of my account !!! Give my money back SCAMMERS ! Wish I could say what’s really on my mind piece of [email protected]#% !!!!
I’ve never learned so much about food and my behaviours. Definitely a lasting diet. One that “Starts as you mean to go on”. Thumbs up. Thank you.
The worst, content is terrible and cancelling is a nightmare
I signed up for a 14 day trial last November- went into the app and found it immediately clunky and buggy- I deleted it- unsubscribed in Apple ID. Now NINE MONTHS LATER- I find out theyve been charging me $159 EVERY FOUR MONTHS!! For a service I have not used. They give you No warning or receipt or any indication that you are still subscribed. They just literally take money from your account when ever they want. No correspondence at all. I have contacted support several times and have not yet received a response. I’m always super careful with these things and I got caught. I’ll be taking it further if they don’t reimburse at least one payment. Single parent literally gets mortgage payment taken away by big sneaky diet company. Nice. Don’t get this app unless you want all your money to disappear.
Wish I looked at these reviews. Don’t waste your time or money.FITNESS PAL is free and much better. No trial periods and automatic withdrawals from your account.
Started using this app a month ago, am still engaged and making some changes I feel have real traction. Will keep you posted.
do not download , i unsubsribe before 3 days but they go through my creditcards without permission and take my money without my permission, they are bangler
Is a great app otherwise however I have to log allot of my food on myfitnesspal which means I don't get the benefit of working out if the food is red orange or green, only a summary of the calories. Otherwise it's very way to use.
Noom could be great, but the “coaching” is only bot-fueled peppy messaging—they do not review your food logs or respond to questions. It is a one-way impersonal set of preprogrammed messages with your name tacked on. Which is a shame. I love Noom’s humor and the articles are enlightening. The program itself is working. But the subscription is priced as if you are interacting with an actual coach, and that’s absolutely not the case. (Plus it feels super gross to be misled like that. #NerdsHateLiars) If Noom was $20 a month, I would overlook the so-called “coaching” and continue. But as it stands, Noom is not worth the cash.
Log your snacks and meals and you can analyze from the drop down list wether its good or bad for you. Also record your exercise for that day and gives you the number of calories to aim for. Set a weight goal and it helps you aim for that goal. Thank you Noom😋
The Good: Great advice, tips & tricks, though a little “Nerdy”, easy to maneuver from page to page, food analysis chart is super helpful. Makes you look at food with a new perspective— extremely helpful. Excellent presentation of information is fun & fast not boring like reading a diet book. App-tapping into other programs like FitBit is convenient & useful. The Bad: Logging & looking up foods could use improvement. It’s rather cumbersome & lacks content. The app “Lose it” has the absolute best library of foods, super easy to log in & love how you can submit your recipes for nutritional content. The Dream: A “Noom” & “Lose it” merger would make for a perfect weight loss & maintenance program. “Noom” has fabulous info, advice, psych tips & tricks makes you think about food in a new way. “Lose it” has the technology & food library — together they would be awesome!
This program is a great choice if you are looking to improve your health in the long game. It not only helps you understand what to eat, but what your behaviors are rooted in (putting others needs before your own, stress, depression, needing to learn self care you may not have been taught). This program is the real deal.
I am a PhD nutritionist. I am really impressed with Nooms approach to healthy eating. I am nicely distracted from focus on the weigh-in by short interesting write-ups on science done in a fun cheeky way. I did weight watchers and it was good, but I am enjoying Noom more. Incidentally that “Norm Matching” notion is what lead me to noom. First John then Mike, then Phil and Juan, then Gwynne, then me and then Dave. Nooming is contagious too!
This app has so much information and I’m only going into week five. It really looks at all the things like behavior, psychology, and science involved in eating. We’ve even looked at our hormones affect everything and we’re going to be learning about metabolism. I put you through that process is to understand yourself and your eating habits and help you learn to mentally prepare for social events, cravings, stressful moments to make you stop think and make a tasty but better choice. Definitely worth the $17 a month
I’m a psychologist, myself, but was never able to apply it to my eating. I’m four weeks in. Although my weight graph is down and up and down again & I have lost some weight, the real gain is that I don’t crave the way I did before. I think the daily lessons are truly assisting me in changing my thoughts and behaviors surrounding food.
I have been the same weight since high school and with this app and the articles and support I have received I have finally been able to drop weight I previously thought impossible to lose
Love NOOM!! Breaking unhealthy habits and learning new tricks to maintain an optimal weight. It’s working for me.
Canceled within the 14 day trail in April. Started charging my card in May........... Good luck in contacting them. I’m pretty sure the emails the send are computer generated. Would not recommend to anyone.
Go into to settings app Tap iTunes and App Store Tap your Apple ID Tap view Apple ID in pop up window Enter your Apple ID password or fingerprint Tap subscriptions or if not in that tap purchases Tap Noom or whatever app you want to stop paying Hope this helps.
Tried to cancel the trial, the concierge didn’t respond. Once the €109 has been taken from my account though, it works again.
This is expensive and it’s not easy to remove your subscription, counter intuitive so if you don’t find yourself using it, you’ll find yourself down money very quickly. Negative business approach -5 stars
I really like Noom. Its so handy to be able to log my meals and plan my day. I am learning so much about healthy eating and mindful eating. I am steadily moving towards a healthy weight. Noom is easy, fun and supportive, ticks all the boxes for a healthy me!
This app is a scam. They make it super hard to cancel your free trail and you end up paying for a service you don't want. They took over €100 out of my account even though I had cancelled
DO NOT USE THIS APP- before you download read trust pilot reviews and look at their Facebook page. They’re SCAMMERS!
I don’t know why this has got such a good rating. But his app is no help whatsoever. This could be down to that personal coach you are meant to have, but the only thing I lost was money on this. Maybe if their coaches are speaking with you daily it might be a different approach, but I don’t know how experienced their coaches are- as I read glassdoor review for working there and I don’t know if the people they are are specially trained psychologists or trainers! Or just customer sales people. Avoid- find a personal trainer and spend the money on them and see results
I cancelled the trial on day 6 of the 7 day trial by following Nooms support documentation. This instructed me to message my noom “Coach” using the app to request cancellation. I did this, however I received no response and was charged €47.99 for a month’s subscription. Later I learned that on an iOS device you’ve to cancel the subscription through the App Store (this section is hard to find, refer back to your original purchase email to find a link to it). On the in-app Noom Coach program itself, I would not recommend it. During the course of my 1 week trial I received 3 generic messages from my “Coach” that didn’t remark on the food I was logging or the program I was doing - for this I would be charged €12 a week? Disappointing and not worth the upgrade.
The selling point of this app is that they have coaches to help you set goals, stay on track and as general support. Unfortunately the support you receive is minimal, it often takes days to receive a reply and the answers you get are superficial one liners. This is just a very expensive calorie tracker, save your money!
I'm sure the program is good but I never really got to try it because I was so infuriated by the terribly designed app. Avoid!!!!
