This app gives up too easily. If the starting and ending points of your planned route are close to each other, it won’t navigate: as soon as you start navigating, it says “you’ve arrived,” and stops navigation. If you deviate from your planned route (e.g. because of a detour) and then rejoin, at the next waypoint it says “you’ve arrived,” and stops navigation. If you turn off your screen to save battery, when you turn it back on it sometimes won’t update the display to your current position. One thing that would be helpful is if the Lock Screen could display a minimap of the current location. I came to a point where it told me to take a right turn, but there were two trails leading off to the right. I had to stop, take off my sunglasses, unlock the phone, find my current position on the map, and see which trail I was supposed to take. A minimap showing the current intersection and which route to take would be really helpful in that situation. Update: went on another ride. The app randomly loses all sense of location and direction, so it places me somewhere I am not, and tells me to “continue onto” the trail I am already on. The only way to deal with that is to stop navigation and restart. I have 6 saved “routes” for a 19 mile ride. This was easily the worst $50 I’ve spent on the App Store.

New to cycling. i just started cycling LITERALLY a week ago. This app is cool for me. My only complaint is that it’s sssooo hard to map a bike route using my phone (iPhone 11). The app tells you to tap an icon, but nothing happens, but I do like that you can track and save a route that you’ve ridden already. I paid for the Premium.

Great except..... I just started using the app and I really really like it except I wish it would announce the upcoming turns sooner. Shortly after I wrote this review I received a response from the company which was totally unexpected. I think this is an indication of a well run company that is concerned with their customer.

Gives OK, but not the best routes. I'm using this app with my bike and scooter to get around urban streets here in Orange County, CA. I compare the routes to Google Maps with bike routing, and find that BikeMap favors side streets, but does not seem to know bike paths and roads with bike lanes. Often Google Map gives better routes. Also the underlying map is out of date as it shows business which has closed. Google Maps is more up to date. I suggest the app allow waypoints to be set by touching the map, to force a route I know is better. With its faults I give it 4 stars because there is such a need for bicycle routes and the app does make an attempt.

Have to pay to use navigation. The app was pretty good until they just recently made it so you have to subscribe to get navigation. It might just be me but you would think the basic features of the app would include navigation like it did before. The navigation isn’t that good anyways so I especially wouldn’t pay for it.

it’s a fantastic idea, and i love what it has so far, but.... you should be able to choose from routes that work better with the specified settings you chose and with the bike type you chose and have it like curated to you instead of like one standard/default/exclusive one. also, the fall detection is extremely faulty in the sense that it barely works and sometimes the alert doesn’t sound and it should be able to bypass the iphone’s ringer being off and/or the volume being low/down all the way, and it also needs to show an alert on the screen too so there’s an option to turn it off after the fact because all it says now is just “alerted” and doesn’t change after that, nor it there a way to have it reset besides restarting your whole route, especially if you’re in a bad neighborhood, and/or it’s dark, and/or you barely have any type of connection/signal whether it be wi-fi, or service, or what...

Lost my records. Cant record full route. It’s so easy to accidentally hit X while navigating, when you mount your phone on the bike and need to do things on the phone. The app then assumes that you finished riding, without another confirmation prompt. There is no option to resume the ride if I accidentally hit X. Also, shouldn't there be a pause button while navigating? I don’t want to count my breaks (0 mph) towards my avg speed. How can I cycling app miss these essential features!

Cannot export gpx. There appears to be no way to export gpx data so I can import it into my beeline app or a gps unit. So it’s quite useless unless you buy a phone mount, but a lot of bicyclists like to use their garmin/wahoo/beeline devices for navigation. The ‘share’ button is greyed out, that would be a good way to export the route into the beeline or another app, I’m not willing to spend $8 to unlock premium just in case it works, which I don’t know if it will or not.

Whack. You used to be able to use a lot of the great features of this app with the free version, namely being able to use pre-made routes for navigation. A recent update made it so you NEED premium to use that feature and it's total garbage. Cycling is already an expensive sport, why should we have to pay 120 dollars a year just to use navigational services. Imagine if Google maps costed money? Maybe I'm just poor but I think it's ridiculous.

Great App - Still some bugs 🐜. The app is still showing my rides under “My Activity” 3 days ahead. (Sunday shows Wednesday; Monday shows Thursday and Tuesday shows Friday) The map sometimes freezes up where it does not keep up with my location and does not record my speed. Rebooting the app seems to clear it. Also still waiting for a pause recording during rides when I stop and do not want to include it in overall ride time. Thanks!

Active gps locked behind subscription. If you want to use this GPS AS A GPS with turn by turn directions. a feature that comes standard with EVERY GPS. You need to pay a subscription. Otherwise it’s just a static map. I have adhd, I can’t be distracted having to look at a map every so often in order to know where I’m going. Especially not when I’m on the road in la where cars are driving around me at 3 times my speed. Ridiculous that they try to charge you for the basic minimum job that any gps is supposed to do.

Poor mapping ability. Unable to deal with deviations from navigation route. If i take a turn too early or too late before getting back on the route, the app tries to get me to turn around and take the exact route it had planned. It is unable to adjust to any slight changes.

Had me riding in circles. Im not sure if I took a wrong turn by mistake but the app worked great directing me on my ride to work but in the way home, I just threw in my ear bud and started listening to each turn it said, at one point going through a windy neighborhood i noticed i was passing a st i already turned onto and i open the map to see that i’ve ridden all around the neighborhood when there was a much more direct route cutting right through it (mind you not a busy road that would make sense to avoid). and the route it was suggesting me to go to get back to my way home was basically to turn around and cycle back around the circle i had already ridden instead of just making a turn onto the correct route. very frustrated as this neighborhood has lots of hills and is not the funnest neighborhood to just cruise around. I don’t understand why these apps are so bad with their intended purpose of giving the safest and most efficient route for a bike. only giving two stars because the layout and tracking is nice but the directions are sub-par by far.

Latest update is no good. I have the premium but I can’t login anymore, it is just a circle wheel of death for hours. I don’t want to uninstall and reinstall for fear of losing all my routes and data. Not sure if this is happening with all accounts or just the paid ones. I usually really appreciate this app but the latest update is Stink City.

Awful - it's a trap!!. This app is terrible, and if you forget to delete it you'll be faced with a new $60 recurring charge and they are quite rude if you ask to cancel and get a refund. They want to keep you ensnared. They hide behind apple and say they can't refund. THE APP: the UX is very bad. There is no map search, only by city. The rides are dearthy and random, lacking the main rides in my city, for instance. The UX of riding along with the ride is really bad: you cannot join along the way, if it thinks you did not start at the precise beginning, it will refuse to align you and keep barking at you to go back to the beginning. You can't reverse direction if you want to start at the other end. You can't even zoom out and try to follow your blue dot on the app. It looks like its VERY MUCH still in beta. The developers are cranky and unhelpful... this app is WAY overpriced. And its not easy to add rides. There is no developer oversight of the routes, ratings or anything. Honestly, very frustrated. The will not refund you if you are unhappy with it, even if you only used it for a few days.

Best Cycle Directions Out There. LITERALLY the best cycling directions out there. I’ve tested out both Apple Maps and this app by comparing the routes they’ve each chosen and this app always chooses the best routes with quality infrastructure. I’ll never go back. I’d recommend going to their website and purchasing the subscription directly from them. Also, their support is prompt and top notch (shoutout Martín). THANK YOU!

Great service and app. The app is great. Had an issue with my Apple Watch working with the app. The service has been outstanding. Even though I have an issue, the company is working through it. Communication was outstanding.

Great GPS feature.. What I love about the app is the turn by turn directions. Not even Strava offers that which is why I was turned onto Bike Map. However, I do like the “profile” feature in Strava. Gives a lot more information such as Miles ridden this week, month Etc also sows You to set goals for yourself and how many miles are remaining. That added feature would be great! Lastly (just thought of it) when I’m riding if I pause a ride the timer resets! Why? I wanna keep track of the entire journey. Please keep the timer continuos. Thank you!

My Ride Disappeared!. Today, I had ridden the longest ride I’ve done yet and was quite proud of it. After the ride was finished, like normal, the app told me how fast I had ridden, how far, etc. I glanced at these stats and then got off my bike and went about my day. A couple of hours later, I open the app again to see that this ride disappeared! I keep refreshing the app and my profile, but somehow the ride wasn’t recorded even though I pushed record and saw the stats after. What the heck happened? Disappointed and if this isn’t fixed, I will be using a different bike app from now on.

Can’t login. I like the app and have used it to navigate places in the past, but I have an account that I can use on the web page version but the iOS version won’t let me login unless I use Facebook. Every time I put in my account details it says it wants to use Facebook to login and fails to log me is with my email address. Very frustrating.

Maybe this works well for your city, but not mine.. I’ve used this for a several different destinations in my city. Each time it directly me in the least logical way. It’s taken me in zig zags, and down brick roads and completely avoided roads with bike lanes. I was really hoping that this app could show me new comfy routes. But I’m better off just finding myself. But hey- give it a try. It’s free. And maybe it will work better in your city?

I wanted to like it, but this app needs a lot of development to perform as advertised.. I really wanted to like this, and used it for a long bike ride this past weekend in Southern California. I thought the app had great design, and it was an easy signup process. However, there are a few key areas that I’d love the development team to focus on: Turn by turn directions — The Apple Watch app was pretty useless. Instead of telling me when the next left turn was going to be, it told me my current speed and heart rate. While that was ok, every few blocks I had to stop my ride, pull out my phone, and check the app to see which direction to turn. The phone app also shouts at you the turn by turn directions, but when I was traveling at high speeds, I couldn’t hear it at all, rendering that feature pretty useless. Battery Drain — After the first hour of my 2-hour bike route, my iPhone 13 phone battery had drained from 100% to 18% while using Bikemap. Didn’t track any data — Because of the significant battery drain during the first half of my ride, I had to end it on Bikemap and use my memory for how to get back to the start of the route. When I got back to the car, I wanted to check my stats for the first half, and Bikemap didn’t save anything. I expected Strava quality and got something much more elementary. Again, I really wanted to like this, and hopefully your development team can take my experience and make improvements.

Failed navigation. The app did an excellent job providing route options while I was cycling in a new area. However, it failed miserably while I used the navigation option on a route. I was forced to take a slight deviation due to a closed road and the app directed me down what ended up being a very dangerous road (steep with older, loose pavement). I am not willing to trust it anymore.

Great idea…doesn’t work well in practice. Navigation algorithm is terrible….made some very strange decisions for me in trying to follow my plotted route; literally took me around in circles and 5 miles out of my way before i ditched the app and went with Google maps instead. Narrated navigation also gave out after 30mins and never reappeared. Some glitches to work out perhaps?

Some navigation trouble. The interface to find and create maps is great, and downloading/accessing them on the road works fine. The navigation, however, had some problems. I wasn’t able to start at the exact starting location on the map, and was pleased to see that the app has an option to navigate you to the nearest point of your route. Unfortunately, my loop started and ended on the same one mile stretch, so the app began my navigation at the one-mile-until-finished point. Even when I “reversed route” it still left out the other 30 miles. I rode without using the app until I got to the loop portion of my route. The navigation worked fine until it reversed directions halfway through the ride and started telling me to turn around. The interface and potential are good, and if it were free I’d muddle through the quirks.

Redundant maps?. I don’t understand the map downloads. I downloaded a large region and then zoomed IN to street level. Then it asks “do you want to download this area?”. Sure, ok. (I thought I downloaded it along with the larger area?) But then I zoomed out approx. 10%. It asks again if I want to download then area. So I do. Then I zoom out another 10% and again I’m asked to download the area. Sure enough I ended up with many ~20MB map downloads of basically the same few city blocks. Seems like it allows redundant downloads considering I barely changed the zoom level.

Zero Stars. This app is crap. I’ve used it twice with my kids in hopes of a good safe trail. The first time it took us to some random place on the side of a street. Literally zero paths anywhere. The second time the parking for the trailhead was on a private county club where we couldn’t access and street parking was NOT an option. So we parked way further down and it literally took us to a dead end instead of a park like we had thought. Had we detoured to the road, which was literally the only other option besides turning around (which is what we did) it would have been along a dangerous road. Ruined our bike ride. Will never use this app again.

Illogical search result sorting. Why would a bicycle app sort by who-knows-what where “results” that are 2000 miles away are presented before those that are 5 blocks away? Is it common for someone on a bicycle to select a 2000 mile destination? Glad I haven’t paid for this yet, as I still have to use other apps to actually find destinations and then round trip to this for routing.

Best BikeNav I’ve seen, but no family sharing. This app has the best and easiest bike navigating I’ve seen so far in like 6 different apps. However, I abhor monthly fees for simple apps. And if I’m forced to pay monthly, I at least want to be able to share access with my iCloud family, so my wife and I can both have navigation on our phones so it doesn’t matter who takes the lead.

BEWARE: Takes your info unknowingly!. My sister did a simple google search of my name and was able to find my whereabouts including my address, how often I bike, where I bike, for how long, etc. all on the first page of google! So inappropriate! I had no knowledge of my routes being saved much less posted to the public! And it was hard to figure out how to get rid of that per trail They don’t even let you delete your account on the app. You have to go on a computer. And best part- On my computer, it won’t even let me login; it claims my email address does not have an account linked to it! So how am I to delete all the information you have on me? I feel so scammed and gross about this and how my personal information was used without my consent. BEWARE! Horrible design of the app and just a scammy feel to it. SO DISAPPOINTED!

Biking easy breezy. This is one of the best bike apps by far on apple just wish it gave alternative routes for free!! And let you plan your own route. Other than that it’s great to track your routes and give an estimated travel time

Good app, but lacks fearures. I really think this is a good app. It also is a very good idea. Navigation is helpful, it's nice to get personalized routes based on the bikes you haver. I just think this app would be even better if it could track statistics of how many miles/kilometres you go, etc. Sadly, location services don't work too well, me recording a route looks totally different than the one I really drive. Also, I can't follow people like the video indicates, and the interface in the above photos are different than mine. All in all, this is a great app, sadly lacks some features and needs better location services. [UPDATE] I hear a new version of this app will be released soon, I'm very excited for that. I also contacted support, I really recommend them, they are very nice and helpful.

Thank you. However, as people have stated before, sometimes it will not record a portion of my ride. It has deleted/not recorded a couple of my rides when I was not in range I guess for Internet maybe that is on me. And can there be an option to put the start recording ride button as it was before as a circle on the bottom left? It’s a bit easier for me to find. Thank you.

Love it but I wish for one thing. I love this app. It tracks my bike rides and lets me know my average speed, time, route, etc. Though, the only thing I wish it did is to allow me to create my own planned routes using the trails I know I love, instead it’s just like a bike google maps -which isn’t bad, I just want more I guess.

Does not put you on bike paths. Useless without internet.. I bought this to pre-plan bike trips in detail with my computer, upload it to the phone and then run it with no wifi or cell service while traveling by bike through Europe. It was a disaster! No matter the settings, half of the time it would route you away from official bike paths. If you decide to stay on the official bike path instead of using the recommended highway route, it will not re-route you. Instead it will stop routing and pick up your original track later (sometimes hours later). Until that happens you have no idea where to go and how much longer your trip is. Using this app completely offline did not only nor help, it often made the routing a lot worse and ruined several days of a very nice bike trip (Austria, Switzerland and Italy). Imagine for an hour you think that you only have 20 kilometers left till you are there, and after an hour of cycling you find out it’s still another 17km. It’s super aggravating! This app might be neat when used while having an active internet connection. Do not use it offline; it’s awful!!

Great routing but navigation needs to be faster.. I recently started using bike maps to navigate safer bike routes in Las Vegas, and the app does a fine job picking the routes. The only major concern is that the app doesn't give you a heads up when to turn, it only calls the turn as you are right by it. I missed a few of them because of it. If that would be fixed, it could be a great app!

Won’t load. App is not loading at the start when it asks me to log into Facebook, an email m, etc. I’ll log in and then get perpetual loading symbol. Not the first time this happened. I used this before and it was fine for calculating ETA. But now that I’ve moved to a new neighborhood and need to calculate a new route and can’t even open the app, it’s a major disappointment and will be ridding of this app completely.

A joke for an actual enthusiast. This app seems really good at first glance. When you start making routes it seems to get fishy. When you actually know the routes it’s obvious. I am not sure how the algorithm choose what roads you can use to plan a route, but, it’s horrible. For example, foothill expressway in my area is a main thoroughfare for bicycles, this app WILL NOT let you route along it when planning a trip. Instead it takes you through all the neighborhoods. It does the same thing in SF and avoids roads with bike lanes for some reason. Also has weird glitches like the volume can only be accessed in the first 0.5 seconds of starting a navigation.

Constant struggle with navigation. I paid up for premium so I could find and make routes when I rent bikes on vacation. Two huge problems: 1) when trying to plot a route the app is constantly trying to take you on side routes and it takes a LOOONG time to get the route u want and unless you go over it really zoomed in you’ll miss a few detours you weren’t intending, 2) once you’re riding even with a carefully edited route, you keep being told to leave it, even when you’re supposed to be riding on the same road for five miles. The only solution I found was to memorize as much of the route as I could so I could guess when to ignore the navigation instructions. Super stressful!!!! Too bad because the app looks so promising and has such good reviews.

Fails to record between now and then. Not sure what the issue is but this is the third time it simply fails to record. Also, it is easy to click Start then End and subsequently not see Save so you end up delete workout. Back to Strava after deleting Bikemap.

Paywall in front of everything. You can’t do anything in this app without paying. Even navigation is now a premium feature. This was exactly why I started using Bikemap as Google Maps doesn’t have cycling directions for my city, but now I’m locked even here and I’m definitely not paying. There are a lot of bugs as well, for example turning your phone horizontally while cycling breaks the app. They don’t listen to user feedback either.

!!WARNING!!. After saving a recorded route, the app posts to web site without notification or option not to do so. If you start the app in your home driveway, your home street address in will be posted because of GPS usage. The route name will contain your home street address. Extremely poor consideration of privacy. I deleted the 5 routes that were automatically posted.

Let’s see CURRENT Reviews!. Was sent email to ‘go premium’ so checked out Reviews: All are Ancient! Also Responses from ‘Astrid’ are all basically the same making it appear like no one has used this in Months/Years! Before I plunk-down my hard-earned cash I want to know what RECENT Experiences are! Keep going, I NEED something like this and I wish you well!

Needs actual support center.. 2nd update: After a fresh start and using a new user name I have the same problem. While I’m paying for the premium edition, I can’t use it. Support has been lacking. Save your money. I really wanna like it more just needs some work. Here’s what would improve it for me. •A map legend on the cycle map so you know what the different colors mean. •better syncing between app and browser use. The app gives a 7 day free trial. Browser only 3. When I logged in on the browser it wiped the route collection I had from first use of app. UPDATE: when I canceled my subscription since app usage was wiped out by my browser login, it said I could still access Premium features-Not!! Now I’m supposed to contact support but only way to do that is if I have Premium. But when I go to re-enable it it says it’s already in use by the same login. Pretty messed up. Lowering my rating to 1 star.

Not there yet.. Well, I got the premier version paid for that and tried this out. It is just not ready yet in my opinion. The one thing that is needed is being able to connect to Garmin radar units. Like a lot of the other apps do and this doesn’t so I’ll quit using it even though I paid for it until maybe sometime they have it. there’s things I like about it and it’ll work for most people but the way I see it if you look through the reviews and the reaction of the developer is to say they’re sorry to hear that and could they give them information on where it happened and what it happened all that kind of stuff which to me is nothing more than a beta test so it’s just not ready yet. Also, it’s difficult to get it to point the map in the direction you’re going and you have to move there a little computer window out of the way to change it and it’s hard to do while you’re riding. Sometimes it just doesn’t work at all as far as moving on the map the way you wanted to move. They have recently fixed a bunch of bugs which was helpful but I’ll put it away for may be a few more months maybe next spring see how it works.

Lagged directions. I bike with headphones and when I use this app I have to constantly look at the map to make sure I’m going the right way. It doesn’t audibly start to tell me what to do until the end of the ride when I’m trying to save my route. It would be nice to be told to “keep left” while I’m actually riding so I don’t have to take my phone out of my backpack several times a trip when I don’t know my route by heart

App crashed and I lost my data. I rode the bike with an intention to capture my progress. However after almost 18 miles the app crashed and I lost all my data. I was trying a new route, faster speed etc and lost all of it! I think it is better to use the default activity app available in Apple Watch. I had no complaints and not sure why I spent money to buy this app

Terrible app !!!. Do not even bother to download this. The GPS does not work and just turns in circles and no matter which way you are supposed to turn it always shows to the right. Dangerous app if you are trying to follow it on a busy street. Also customer service won’t refund subscription even after three days - if you paid through IOS device you can cancel but charged until subscription runs out.

Incredible!. This app has totally made our 3 week bike adventure epic! From tiny back alleys to big roads this app hasn’t steered us wrong in a country that can be a little crazy to navigate! Can’t wait to try this in Europe on my next adventure. Phone battery lasts a full day of riding when you take your map offline.

Awesome. I love this app a lot, I’m an amateur cyclist who just started a few months ago and this app is my go to for recording my progress. The only issue I’m having with the new update is that I keep pressing end recording by mistake when I want to use my phone. I’d highly appreciate it if you could change the place of the “end” button.

Not a bad app. I can’t say it’s 100% accurate & it is slow in updating the route. Not sure if it would be any better if I paid a subscription. The way it works I don’t think I would want to put money into it at this stage & see how it goes as I use it more.

Can’t Navigate. Loaded a gpx file and shows fine. When I’m on the phone and I bring this route, the ‘navigate’ button is greyed out even though I am on the route. The web app for creating routes is fantastic, but the app is really worthless if it can’t help me navigate. I’m using the paid version, have contacted support and have yet to receive a reply. Supposedly you receive premium support with paid version, but does not seem like it.

Awesome app. This is one of the best bike directions app out their keep up the good work👍🏻

Love it but...... Love this app for the routes it does find but even when using downloaded maps, battery usage is heavy. Maybe I should turn off the mobile signal? Would be good to access saved maps on thd iOS app and not have to go to the website

Perfect for a scared first timer. I’m scared of cycling on the roads because cars are huge horrifying death machines!! This app guided me through cycle lanes and quiet streets the entire way to work. And it just FELT patient with me when I ended up on the wrong street. Wonderful help for a nervous cyclist.

Great app. Love this app really helped me track my progress

Apple Watch App Disappointing. Main app on the iPhone is great; however, the Apple Watch app completely shutdowns the Apple Watch or simply closes when attempting to save the current route or simply pausing the ride.

Tricky to make route / having sound on. Still haven’t been able to make a route that I can use via bike paths in Brisbane then use to listen to be able to get to where i want to go, looks it hasn’t changed much since last comment about a few years ago, it’s a shame when an app looks promising but in the end your better off to use google maps as it gives you many different directions to head to the same place

Keeps trying to upsell. Almost unusable as it just keeps trying to push the paid service.

So far so good. New version of the appears to be an improvement on the old version, but I am yet to explore all the functions. One problem that remains is the issue that roads in China and the route are not aligned

Didn’t work. Tried to navigate from my location to a nearby school. It plotted my location but suggested a route starting from well over a kilometre away and going to the central business district (not via the school)

Decent but buggy.. Good for a free app, the trip recording function stopped working the other day for no reason, have tried everything, it just no longer records. As thats the only free feature thats worth anything, and it no longer works, im giving two stars. App is useless to me now, will keep for a few more days in case of a hotfix but i obviously wont be keeping it installed much longer if it no longer continues to work.

Not worth it. It doesn’t show you places around your location and ask for premium service

Nice App. I have been searching for an app like this for ages... This one is pretty good!

Took me down a non cycle route onto a highway. As above

Routes are incorrect.... Unfortunately the routes where I live are inaccurate showing bike paths where there are none and missing some that do exist. For me this is the most important feature and if I can’t rely on this then the app is of no use to me...

Terrible app. Just useless! I was trying the free version and halfway through my ride stops the direction guide and asks me to buy the premium version for the rest of the way.

Auto-Pause/restart for 4 stars. If you also had a setting toggle allowing a ride started on the watch to also start a ride on the phone app, and combined with auto-pause then 5 stars.

Good app that shows me most bike routes. This is my second time using the app. It does help to show me majority of the cycling routes. More to be improved to ensure safety

Great app, very practical. Free version is awesome! Love this app, great alternative to Strava. Only thing I would like is landscape mode.

Does not work with free account?. Try to used the app with my free account and after a beautiful ride of 3 hours the app does not save anything on the activity history after showing the trip summary and then buffff, all info gone. Just wasted my ride leaving me zero info after. Don’t tell me I don’t know how to use it, found better apps out there and much more reliable.

Don’t bother. Google Maps is a better option.

So good for unfamiliar routes. Because Bikemap is so good, I bought a phone mount for my bike.

Absolute shocker. 1. Had just downloaded app 2. Presented page to ‘go Premium’ for $60 3. Closed page. 4. 4 seconds went by in the app. It then presented the page to ‘go Premium’ for $60. 5. Closed and deleted app. What a dumb app. Have some respect, and I might consider using you.

Expected better from a dedicated app. Poor map zooming. Can't hide side bar on the left. Fixed orientation to portrait. Can't find tracks by name ie mike turtur bike path. Text on top of screen is superimposed. Better off using the web page.

Great free app. Great free app does drop out on occasions

?????. Hello? What is this nonsense. U need to pay premium on the IOS version just to start a navigation route. I am very disappointed that the very reason this app exists has now become a paid feature. You may as well say oh buy the app for $20 and get the navigation feature. I’m downloading something else and uninstalling.

3D route preview not available/working in premium. I have no idea what it’s supposed to do, but it doesn’t work,

Poor navigating. It’s great for mapping out the route and finding out roughly how long it will take but worlds best is a bit of an understatement. Make sure you give yourself enough time to compensate for all the misdirecting

Bike App. Would be lost without it

Disappointing. I’m more than happy to pay for an app (unlike some other reviewers), but if I’m going to purchase an app, it needs to work. Sure there will be glitches from time to time, but I encountered too many in the short time I used Bikemap. In Bratislava, it sent me on the really indirect route that became a muddy path. In Vienna, on the first day, it gave incredibly confusing directions and I struggled to follow the route (perhaps that’s my fault). On the second day in Vienna, it sent me down a dead end street, not once but twice. I’ve cancelled my free 7 day trial and gone back to Google, which is far from perfect, but at least it’s free.

Able to map with bike lanes as preference. Great app I use the free version and love being able to select prefer cycle ways + avoid hills ! I tried a few other apps and couldn’t find this feature

Beware lack of updated info about access. We tried this app and it took us first to a tunnel that was blocked off, then to a disused service road that was mostly rocks and sand - impossible for us to ride. It might have been okay for experienced trail bike riders on bikes with wide tyres. Not sure we would trust this app again.

Good, but not THAT good. BikeMap is lacking in a few core features: namely there should be a lifetime distance travelled metric, and then also a ‘This year’ and ‘This Month’. Currently, it only shows week by week. Also, they made it so you have to buy premium to access OpenCycleMap which should NOT be allowed. OpenCycleMap is open source and I can access it by going on openstreetmap. Therefore, it should be available on the free plan. Otherwise it’s just stealing the publics work. That has the equivalent of copying Wikipedia and charging people to view it. Finally we need LOTS OF STATS on recorded rides. There also should be a daily, weekly, monthly, this year & lifetime distance leaderboard to encourage people: and riding challenges that you can invite friends to. And this should be all part of the free plan so people can compete. Allow pro users to create their own cycling groups to invite people to join. Etc, etc. Optional (but fun): a race feature. You will race others in real time on similar terrain, across the internet. Whoever completes their 1km first wins. To stop cheaters you must select the route first to show the slope of the land, and if you go off track you will be disqualified. For now I’ll use Strava. When these new features are implemented this will be fun.

Did not work for me. Crashed on Samsung g s20 first ride. Wouldn’t load navigation

Glitchy and didn’t work properly.. We tried the premium version today on a bike ride for the first time. We tried to use a route from another user and because we started part way on a 35km loop, it stopped providing directions when we reached the start/end point on the saved route. Leaving us with 10kms to our start point and confusion about where the hell we were. Ended up using google maps to get back. The app frequently would provide turn directions off the loop for reasons I cannot fathom and would often get confused and lose our position and direction. We were using iPhone 14s on open paths in Sydney Australia on a clear day with excellent 4G and 5G. Google maps worked just as well for our purposes. Cancelled the trial subscription the moment we finished.

I love this app. 5vstars for me all day, telling everyone 🤙🏽👍🏼😊

Helpful but needs a search function. Holds heaps of bike routes, pretty easy to use, but no search function. I downloaded to look up a particular route and could not find it. Text on map is hard to read. Still a good app.

Easy to Use. Great app for all. Gives you easy to use address points and then plans routes. BRILLIANT

Can’t be installed on iPad. I am using an IPad 9th with IPad os15.2. I tried to install the app but every time when the downloading/installing circle completed, it would be automatically removed, only left the empty icon (with a cloud badge) on my screen. Meanwhile, in the App Store it was showing a ‘cloud’ icon on the install button indicating the app has been purchased but hasn’t been installed.

Useless. This app makes me so angry. Tried to use the reverse route and while cycling it kept reversing it back, so incredibly annoying. Also the app has real issues working with understanding my direction. Fix the bugs!

Useless. This app is garbage. You can’t do anything without signing up and create a profile. When you do this you can’t even create custom maps. It won’t work like I want it too. And you get a notification all the time to sign up for their premium plan which isn’t cheap either. No thank you. Deleted.

Free fee plan?????. What happened to free fee plan??? Why you guys not creating option for example $50 life time version. Existing charges are well to high for casual retiree cyclists !!!!!

I’ve been a premium user for 3 years, but it is still a glitchy app.. Buyer beware: This app is good but glitchy. It could be so much better. It has an excellent user interface (when it works). But don’t totally rely on the offline maps. They take forever to download and then they can randomly disappear from your library when you most need them out on the road. The inefficient gps connection in the app will often drain your battery. In the route planning bit, sometimes things stop working. Routes may just stop magnet attracting to roads. These glitches are often fixed by quitting out of your work unsaved and refreshing your cache a few times. The latest glitch was the kilometre overlay stopped working, but upon being alerted to it, this was fixed. If you send a help message, they will tell you that they are just about to rollout another upgrade, and thank you for the tip. They will refer you to the community forum. But I couldn’t create an account in this because of another glitch. In it you can read comments by some unsatisfied customers complaining about how good the app could be if the creators put more effort in. It is still a much better app than most of the bigger, data mining and privacy breaching alternatives out there. —- Response to developers reply: I don’t want my money back, I still have love for this app, I just want you to persist and do better for us.

Melbourne vic Australia. Comprehensive maps for all locations in Melb. Well worth the price (free) !

Could be so much more. I'm impressed.....but this could be so much more. The maps, in design, are some of the nicest, clearest and detailed maps I have seen in an online format but this app should also be able to be used for travellers as well....not just bike riders. There should be options to not only expand the maps to a full screen (currently cut off by a display of various bike route plans on the right hand side of the screen), but get rid of the 'blue' dots showing bike routes on the actual maps ( if you don't need them) and have the ability to zoom in further on the maps than they currently allow. Congrats to the developers, better than some major players.....but as I said, still very much a work in progress.

Tried many, chose this one.. Good mapping. Great navigation. Could be a bit better in the route planning area, but might just be my lack of experience. I live in Australia, where the summer sun is murderously strong… an ability to plan a shaded route would be fantastic, just don’t know how it could be done. Signed up for premium, well worth it.

AWESOME!. Using Bikemap to cycle from Cape Sata in southern Japan to Cape Soya in the most northerly point. 3,000km. We have seen some amazing things we would never have seen due to bikemap taking us off main roads. It’s allowed us to plan and execute the whole thing over the last 20 days. Thank you Bikemap! Good work, please keep it up. Premium is well worth it.

App costs. Not worth the money (Expensive)

Battery hog. Uses so much battery it kills the phone in a 2 hour ride.

Free features slowly dissapearing. Now that gpx export is gone from free version, no point in using app any longer.

Crashed. Crashed when I tried to save route.

Deleted the app. I get that there is a paid tier for this app and they need to earn money, but a) the free version still needs to be useful, and b) the paid tier needs an affordable plan. C$12/mo? Insane. On the free version, it seems like EVERY time I touch something there's an upgrade popup. Constantly. It makes the app useless.

Road trip en trottinette électrique. Facile de faire des trajet avec cette app😁

Dangerous app. Not recommended. Four out of five times I used the app, it took me to the wrong location. If you miss a turn, or sometimes even if you stay on track, the app will try to take you back to the start point even though you are riding the opposite way. Two times it took me to a highway, and two times the app decided to take me back to the start point in the middle of my route, and you have nothing to do against it. All the routes were above 30km. The app has good potential, but it does not look like the developers are using the app themselves or testing it in field.

Abonnement obligatoire. Il n’est pas possible d’utiliser l’application sans un abonnement payant?

All too glitchy to work. Paid for the one month subscription so I could use the "offline maps" mode while on vacation in Amsterdam. The offline mode doesn't work, no data is saved or retrievable without data use. Also, EVERY you use another app (like your camera because you're on a scenic bike ride) then return to the app, it freezes and you have to force quit the app and start all over again. Beyond frustrating.

Winnipeg Forks ride. My first time using Bikemap today! Took me on a perfect ride! 🚴🏽‍♀️ Love this app!!

App freezes too much!. On an iPhone 6s. App freezes when you background it when following a route you made, so I hope you like reopening the app and clicking six times to get back to where you are every time you need to stop to take a message! Not to mention, the app takes too long to reopen probably because of all the resources it needs to free or something.

Not up to date with route closures. They are not up to date with route closures the route they put me on had a trail closure by the government and there was no warning on the app. I was not able to reliably trust the app to find me a safe route. Super frustrated

Buggy. A decent app with a nice variety of rides to choose from, but it suffers from frequent crashing and it is slow to refocus the maps when scrolling through the route while zoomed in. Toursprung is apparently working on these problems since they admittedly rushed the new version to market before it was ready.

Love this app. I love this app - I’m a beginner cyclist and am seeing my city from a whole new perspective! Thank you for an easy to use app!!!

Free version is useless. Don’t bother. Constant nagging to upgrade to a very expensive package. The free version offers nothing of value (I can do the same with google maps for free) and the paid package is not worth the price. To the company, I don’t want to hear any justifications. The product simply isn’t worth it.

Bikemap. If you think you can create a route using your iPad, forget it!

Navigation is absolutely terrible. I foolishly tried to use this app to navigate me around a route yesterday and it failed completely. It told me about turnings without warning, often after I’d already passed them. Then when I did pass them, it gave no indication that this had happened and no corrective directions (even though the setting that supposedly does this was on). Perhaps worse, it keeps the original directions, so if you miss a left turn and turn back for example, it tells you to turn left again, which is wrong because you’re now coming from the opposite direction. Once I got to a point in my route where the pathway was closed, I had to give up because it can’t adjust your route or tell you how to get back. If the app allows you to export a route to be used with google maps or some other app that has decent navigation I may try to use it again, but if you want to use the navigation don’t waste your time

Everything locked behind paywall. Completely useless unless you want to pay $15 a month. No better than google maps. Night mode, elevation, navigation and basically any other feature you would want is locked behind a paywall. Save your time and don't download it.

NOT senior user friendly. I wanted to be able to type in a city and get maps for that location, wouldn't work

Terrible. App unstable, has trouble finding navigation. Chose some route and midway through told me I reached my destination. Had trouble completing the circle as a result (tried another route and that one was a failure too). I’ll look for another one

Awful app. This application is not functioning at all. Impossible to log on after you registr an account, tracking feature is not working either. Don't waste your time installing this app.

Super. Out garnin!

Great app. Should be a bit more affordable, there is a reason so many ride bikes now, having not enough money for an auto is a big one. Let’s not make getting on a bike start costing too much. I have no problem with the rice but many do.

Hi. Too many gimmicks and toys, I just want a record of my rides !

Horrendous search function. The search function is completely useless. You can't type in a start and end point. There are other far superior bike route apps available.

City Biking 🚴. First day using dis Bike App, right now i can say that i lijed it & i loved it!!! 100% will recommend dis App 👍

Great even while free. Love the maps it makes for me when I tap any destination in my city. It does a good job of sticking to safe roads and streets when a bike path isn’t available.

Not recommended. The navigation is so confusing telling you 5 times in a row to go straight on the same road then telling you to turn randomly in random streets. Wouldn’t prompt me to turn where i needed to turn on the path i selected. I would have been faster going in the blind by myself.

Gps. Good app until i find one that reroutes so i dont have to go into someones neighborhood to make the gps continue to the same path if i didnt make a silly 100ft turn just to turn back around

Very bad. Do not get this App.

No turn by turn navigation. No turn by turn navigation so how do you navigate? The map only shows the general location of the route. I haven’t figured out how this will help discover and cycle new routes.

Don’t bother. Useless unless you sign up to pay monthly! Just don’t waste your time.

Useless can't even get started. Put in you email address, your username, and password and all I get is a code 400 , with no explanation no other course of action. Did I mention useless ?

Helpful. Very useful for planning in unfamiliar area! Used on a biking trip in the Algarve and it was accurate

Won’t download. I took all my apps off my iPhone 6s to download the new iPhone 14 OS operating system and now the bike map app will not download New review I got a quick response from apple and tried to download bikemap app again to my iPhone and the app is now working great. thank you

The voice directions are so quiet you can’t hear it. …

It keeps trying to bring me through the states. I don’t want nor is anyone allowed to bike across the border. There should be a button to avoid boarders or something.

Maps don’t load. Maps don’t load.

Why?. You can’t plan a route using bike trail unless you pay for a membership while Google map gives you that for free... OOTB planning is just a dumb drive through using bike unfriendly boulevards, so unless you plan on purchasing a subscription, it’s useless to me.

Cancelling membership. They make it very difficult to cancel subscription. Apple isn’t any better as it doesn’t give an option to cancel from the subscription area.

Almost useless without signing in. Functionality is extremely (and artificially) limited if you don’t sign in. Why?? I’m very concerned they’ll just want to sell my data or pelt me with ads and spam. Deleted.

Not that useable. The main screen is clogged with so many pop ups- messaging, bike recording etc etc I could barely see the map and every attempt to zoom in on the route resulted in accidentally opening one of the pop ups. Deleted after 10 mins.

Trash. Useless trash just about made me late for school didn’t properly direct me to where I was going, and the location is beyond spotty .

On. L’application est excellente mais répète trop longtemps si on ne suis pas exactement le chemin programmé. J’aimerais utiliser la version payante mais je la trouve trop dispendieuses.

Bike map. Beaucoup d’informations et aucune mention du coût Dannytourtiere

A very nice app, but .... I very love this app for planning my rides and I love to have offline maps, but the app crashed several time (and I lost all my training data). When you do a 50kms and you lost all your training data, it’s VERY frustrating...It would be very nice if the creator of this app can fix that problem! If the problem can be resolved quickly, I will keep this app and I will continue to pay for premium version.

Health. Good app

Terrible. I had an appointment and the app would say that I had arrived half into the ride. I missed my appointment because of this app!

GPS is off. I used to love this app. It is very convenient to save trails, to plan and to record. Bur last few rides my Maps are not well recorded for the distance. I guess it is GPS problem. It calculated 121 km for the 22 km bike ride. I’ve had few problems like this.

Best cycling map. If you’re new to biking and you want to discover new bike paths. This app will make it easy for you and saves you a bunch of time.

Great app!. Would be amazing to track the Calories burned!

Great Interface, Lots of routes. This app helps me explore different routes around my city and it is so neatly done.

First Ride Fail. App worked fine tracking ride for first 18 miles. At some point stopped working after that and showed Start button on watch.

Failure giving directions on planned route.. Lost my planned route and for the last 30 miles had to ignore constant wrong direction interruptions as it kept trying to reroute. Worthless!!!!

Good routes but not perfect for every situation. The app is good at developing routes for different types of bikes and different goals but when it comes to actually using it for navigation it does lack a little. If you have somewhere you can mount your phone to view what it wants you to do it’s pretty easy to follow but if your planning on putting it into your pocket and using the voice navigation it will definitely be difficult. The intervals at which it gave directions where inconsistent such as sometimes it would give lots of warning before a turn and sometimes it would not tell you to turn until you were pretty much cat the turn. Sometimes it also just didn’t give a direction and so I found at a few points I was having to take out my phone and look and see what it wanted me to do. I’m not sure if it was just the app I was using to listen to music but I also found when the cycling app would give a direction the music would not get quieter as it does with most car navigation apps. I like that you can save routes though and that it will route you based on your bike. One problem I had with other apps bike feature was you could not select a road surface to ride on so often time I would get put onto gravel paths with this I can choose only for paved paths and it will still be able to find quite roads and even paved bike paths. I have not yet used the public routes app but it is there I’m not sure if it’s just my area that does not have many people posting public routes but I imagine in city and high population areas that could be useful for finding places to ride. I only am using the free version and it has enough features. Maybe someday I will upgrade to the paid version but first I would want for the voice navigation to become better. Overall for a free app it’s pretty good.

Finds the safe way. I rude in Sarasota Florida. A terrible cycling city. This App finds a safe route for me on a road bike. I’ve been looking for it! Found it.

Good ride. Who knew? This app was better than Google maps.

Disappointing experience, buggy. App constantly pops up a sign-in screen. After attempting to sign in 3 different ways the app sits on a spinner and never authenticates. Money grab that can’t even grab the money. Will definitely be using other apps for navigation.

Crippled by lack of ‘select bike paths’ option. Seems a great app for many uses but not the one I intended. There is a canal path that leads from my start to destination and which the app did NOT pick up. Despite this being part of a major renown cycle and walking route.

So far so good. I have used it for a few rides and it is working pretty good. I wish it let me edit my rides when I forget to stop the timer

Terrible gps. The directions on this app are AWFUL. Tells you to turn into literal bodies of water. Takes you in circles. Routes make no sense. The voice directions are super obnoxious.

Precise location NO.. I just wanted to see some route options between two points, not live routing, you don’t need precise location, actually you don’t need to access my location at all. So don’t try. Rated as low as possible.

It was OK until the latest update stopped log in.. It tracked the basic info Ok until the latest update. Now I can’t log into my account from Facebook and I lost all my data.

Overall great - needs improved navigation directions. Only improvement would be for earlier signaling of up coming turns ie in 600 feet turn left in a quarter mile turn right.

Friday bread run. It is a wonderful day! Glad I used this app to get me to the bakery location. It took me to my destination and brought me home. I love it!

Not worth paying at all. There are clearly marked bike trails on the map near my home and nothing I do or option I enable will route me taking them and it suggests rather I ride near a highway with no sidewalk over using the nicely paved two lane bike road. Like I said not worth paying a dime for.

Maps. Make offline maps not part of the premium feature

Not Safe. People keep saving their home address + routes either from tech ignorance or not caring to read the descriptions. Great way for crazies to know your daily route and where to find you.

Got charged full fee, 5 hours into the trial. I signed up for the 1 year trial, with the understanding I’d get a week to test it before getting charged. My account was charged 5 hours after signing up, with no option to report the issue within the App Store/ purchased section.

Great App. I very much enjoy this app and find it super helpful in getting routes that avoid major roads. I definitely recommend giving it a shot!

New to the app, but enjoying it so far. I’m enjoying the clearly marked trails over the map. I’m having fun checking distances so we can train for a century ride.

New updates. After the recent update, I cannot find my previously recorded route? Where did they go? Do I need to sign up to be the premium users to see those records???

could be better. A map legend would be helpful. Also, it keeps asking me to sign in. I don't care to sign in. I'm willing to pay for extras, but I don't want to "join."

Useless. Under "Popular Rides" it shows me people's commute to work. It doesn't show rides I know of which are much better. Wth. This app has no useful information at all.

Crashes. Can’t view recorded rides the app crashes every time, tried uninstall and reinstall still not working

Don’t like it. I want to go through the trails but the app forces the GPS to take the streets. So if you accidentally swipe the screen it ends the route and there is no way of resuming. Annoying!

Navigation is not great. Navigation is probably ok if you stick to the given route, but if you stray off or try to reroute yourself, it gets you completely off-track.

City Bike. I live in Washington DC and ride my bike every day. Bike maps shows me the way utilizing streets with bike lanes. It’s a pleasure to ride with bike mats as a guide.

Accuracy. Gives some random directions that don’t make sense or where there aren’t paths...

Great. Have not used yet but looks great.

Madras Mountain scenic ride.. I knew the route just wanted to see if there was phone reception along the route. Got the data saved so can beat the time on the next ride.

Can’t use without paying. Why won’t it let me use the free option I could before but then now for some reason I can’t use this app without paying, why?

They’ve changed the app so you can’t get turn by turn directions unless you pay. They’ve changed the app so you can’t get turn by turn directions unless you pay. It’s not worth the download unless you’re willing to pay a monthly fee. Not worth it, just use Apple Maps for free.

Powerful App. It is much helpful app to track and direct way along your journey.

Impossible to log in. App insists I use my “Facebook password” to log in. I don’t. Facebook account. Web app lets me reset a password and log in, but it’s impossible to disconnect from the nonexistent Facebook account

Free version is useless. Can’t do anything on this app without paying - beyond saving routes. You can’t even use it to navigate. May as well use google maps for free.

Their available routes arnt always the best way to go but it’s a reference. Simple app and installed tracking of route, speed, and time.

Soooo aggravating. I downloaded this app to have it show me the quicker of two routes to work. It showed me a third way only estimating 22 minutes, the whole route was pitch black w zero bike paths and entirely uphill, and I mean extremely uphill. I’m late for work, and covered in sweat. It was so annoying

The Best!. In a new city, not so bike friendly. App shows safest routes. Highly recommended!

Dangerous. I tried this app and it is a joke, and a dangerous one at that. The app knows virtually no bike paths in a given area. Accordingly it does not know how to map you on safe routes. Instead it routes you on city streets which are not safe. I can’t believe anybody would pay for this.

Great app. It gives you routes that best fit whatever situation

Works if you have wings. The routes go from ridiculous to ridiculousor. Many of them show straight lines across zero roads or Spirograph scribbles that aren’t even close to actual pavement. WTAF

It works great now!. Was not working for me a few weeks ago, but now works great. Bike path optimized routes are top notch!

Amazing location. Thinks for this application

Dumb routes. Why in the world the app creates routes using roads instead of bike trails? The paved trail goes along the road, but the app prefers to put me on the road next to cars instead... There are two routing options: MTB and road. That’s just ridiculous.

Can’t change the units!. Can’t change the units!

Awesome. This app is amazing because it gets me to places and helps me if I get lost. I recommend this app

Pretty worthless unless you like busy city streets. If you can use Google you can do better. Busy city streets, high speed traffic, not even sharrows. Some folks feel better if every app on the net tracks them.

Too much money for too little function. No turn by turn for the free version anymore so not useful unless you’re willing to pay. It’s too buggy and never updates routes and for sure isn’t up to date. It never uses bike trails as an option

Great App - But why not show tenths of a mile over 10 miles?. Other than not showing tenths when over 10 miles, I love this app.

Nope. After a couple of decades+ of paying for alpha to beta work-in-progress software, I’m done seeding capital into a dead end with no return. Sorry, but It’s just a waste of time & money.

Couldn’t have chosen a more dangerous route for a cyclist. I downloaded this app to try because google maps was selecting routes that were not cycle friendly. This app chose the same route. It selected a route with no bike lane, narrow lanes and horrible traffic.
