Really disappointing customer service. I submitted my public interest application a month ago and have not heard back. I’ve made calls, sent texts, and two emails asking for updates. Still nothing. Today, I finally reached someone on the customer service line who told me she couldn’t answer my question. I also read online that from a review that you would still need to pay additional fees for the lifetime access. If that’s the case, I need to pause my account because I won’t be taking bar exam due to covid. At this point I don’t know who to go to who could answer my questions or address my concerns. I told the woman on the customer service line that I’m worried no one will get back to me once I submitted my payment. She told me to have a great day. Before I paid, people from Bar Max were calling me proactively. Now it feels like no one cares because they took my money already. I wish I could back in time and choose another bar prep company. This is extremely unprofessional.

Great supplement. I loved the MBE and essay grading features. I used BarMax along with Barbri and felt they complemented each other since Barbri is strong on essay construction. The BarMax lectures are also nicely broken out into sub-topics, which I usually listened to during the drive to and from the library during bar prep.

Doesn’t track progress unfortunately. I work full-time as an attorney and purchased this bar prep course because of my on the go lifestyle. I really appreciated what I thought was a convenient model. Unfortunately the app does not accurately track progress. In fact, up to about 40% of the time my progress isn’t reflected! I reached out to Barmax about whether there is some thing I can do to change this or to manually log my progress to keep track, and regrettably there isn’t. This significantly undermines the alleged convenience of the app. Had I known prior to purchase I’m not sure I would’ve gone with BarMax as keeping track otherwise is time consuming. I do hope this is a glitch Barmax prioritizes fixing.

Very deceiving. Followed the directions on the site to apply for the public interest scholarship. 2 days later I was told that I did not qualify for it with no explanation as to why. I did exactly what was instructed which was to send a letter explaining intent to pursue career in public interest and that I would pay it back if I did not follow through. I also sent over a copy of my resume showing I worked a a clerk with the MI AG’s office as will as PD’s office in FL. After I was told I did not qualify I sent over a screenshot of what the website stated. After I sent the email I got a response from Lauren saying she was sorry but I still did not qualify with no explanation. I forwarded all of my communication with her to any email address I could find associated with BarMax. I checked the website again and the added a note to it stating that you may not be approved. I still have the screenshot to show that it was not present previously. While I’m pleased to see the subsequent remedial measures taken, I’m disgusted with the way they operate. I am also glad I found out that they do shady business before investing any of my money at all. Buyer beware.

Never received product, can’t contact customer support. I purchased the product in October 2022 for the bar next February. Waited until December to start studying because that what their study schedule showed. When I tried to answer the essay questions they wouldn’t let me load. When I tried to answer the multiple choice questions the program stated I need to pay again. I tried the in app customer support and nobody contacted me back. I tried calling the phone number and it’s just and answering machine. You can’t leave a message because the answering machine is full. This might be a scam. I have submitted a charge dispute with my credit card company so let’s hope that works.

Needs Improvement!!. Improvements needed to make it better: (1) When you listen to a lecture and stop before it ends, the lecture doesn’t pick up where you had left off. It opens up at the beginning of the lecture. Quite inefficient and you lose a lot of time that way. The lectures are helpful background; (2) The only speed for lectures are 1x and 2x. 2x is generally not usable since they talk way too fast and sounds like a foreign language. Be good to have 1.5x as well; (3) For some of the lectures it doesn’t cover the outline. The outline seems to have been more frequently updated than the lectures. Lectures are very helpful since they add background. Disappointed that they don’t update the lectures. Pretty pricey course to have these deficiencies.

BarMax is Amazing!. I would recommend BarMax to anyone taking the California Bar Exam. Why? (1) BarMax has real MBE questions from past exams with quality explanations for why an answer it right or wrong. When you take the actual MBE, you will feel prepared and you will feel familiar with the questions. Think about it, why review exam like questions if you can just review real questions from old exams. (2) Bar Max gives you released essay questions organized by subject or year and released performance test questions. Again, when you get to the exam, you will feel prepared and you will feel familiar with the questions. (3) The lecture and outlines are concise. Burn out while studying for the Bar Exam is real, and you want to make the most of your time. Good luck studying for the Bar Exam!

Review. After struggling with 200#’s of books from barbri and the 6 hours of lectures per subject and the other study tools, I found that BarMax is easily digestible, understandable, portable and doable. They break the subjects down to the basics, in bite size parts. I do my own outline and can easily learn and retain. Highly recommend

Complete program without overwhelming. I took 13 years off after law school before attempting the CA bar for the first time in Feb 2021. I decided to use the COVID shut down to take the exam, but had forgotten 90% of what I learned in school! Dealing with two young kids on 1/2 day zoom homeschool, and juggling a business that was severely impacted by the closures, I was still able to pass as a first time taker using ONLY THE MATERIALS IN THIS PROGRAM. -I could listen to the online lectures on the go, explore the nuances of complex issues using the printed outline. -I crafted effective and organized essays using their roadmaps, a brand new tool that gives you a essay template for major essay issues you can apply to slay a complex issue. By far the most helpful add on. -Because Barmax uses only real bar questions, I was comfortable and familiar with what I faced on the MBE portion. IF I COULD PASS USING THIS COURSE, ANYONE COULD, I literally went into the program remembering nothing!! Follow their recommended study technique and enjoy the success it brings you. I only wish I had this program during law school. Good luck on your exam!

Wish I knew about BarMax sooner. I failed the Bar twice using Barbri and I’m trying BARMax on my third try after it came highly recommended to others who passed with this program. So far, I have no complaints. I like that the lectures are short and more concise. The multiple choice are also similar to how the Bar exam tests. If you’re debating whether BARMax is right for you, it is, stop doubting!

No time for a life class. If you’re discipline enough to go through the lectures this app covers it all. The flash cards are a decent review to test your memory and the MBE questions are also useful for someone like me just taking the essay portion of the exam (as a practicing attorney) to test my working knowledge of the material.

Great app. This app has really helped me do more practice questions and have my essays checked. If you get this app, get off Instagram and Snapchat and do every practice MBE question possible. You’ll pass.

Enjoying my Bar Preparation very much. upI I was upset I did not pass my first time. I decided to go all out and give myself a chance to succeed. I really want this and I still have to write my essays but so far I am enjoying the lectures and multiple choice questions so far! I enjoy studying from my phone and really happy Mehran created an affordable program for people who want to pass. I am looking forward to putting in the work and letting others know about BarMax so we can help others who need a voice. For me, I truly do want to change the world for the better.

Barmax is the best!!. I’m a nurse consultant with my own business and will sit for the bar in Feb in New Mexico. I have experience with another product and there is no comparison. I am very confident about passing with the excellent outline and real questions and essays. Also they have started having office hours for The review of specific topics and types of questions. Office hours are terrific productive hours and have bolstered my confidence and decreased my anxiety. I graduated from law school a long time ago so when I pass the bar, you will hear me scream “barmax rocks it”!!!

Best for the money. I used BarMax for the California bar but due to work couldn’t complete the material and unfortunately failed. I diligently worked through the material for my first UBE exam and I passed on my first attempt. In comparison to the high cost bar prep courses BarMax is the best out there.

Great bar review course and app. I am a foreign educated lawyer and I studied using only this course for the New York Bar July 2017 and passed first time. The lectures are great (especially the Civil Procedure lectures which are so good I could listen to them for fun). I used all the materials and the flash cards for the MBE subjects were really focused on what you need to know. Don't waste your money on other much more expensive bar courses, this one is just what you need!

Great Choice for Bar Prep. After more than 10 years out of law school California, I had a lot of doubts about my prospects for success on the Maine UBE. But BarMax was just what I needed. I listened to all the lectures twice, completed almost all the online MBE questions, and passed with 40 points to spare. Thanks, BarMax, for putting me over the top!

The best. Hands down my favorite, I’ve taken all the majors, not into making huge profits, noble , philanthropists and interested in being the best, caring and professional, Mehran, Celeste, Lauren and the entire team are the finest! Worth using them but, you get out what you put into your efforts wise.

Any other bar prep course would have been better. Used BarMax because I was excited about a newer program that was flexible. Failed the UBE by 10 points and honestly I would have done better self studying and I would have saved money. Can not recommend this program less. I wish I had shelled out for Themis the first time around because it is cheaper in the long run to pass the first time. BarMax customer service was incredibly unhelpful and when I asked for my refund I was a few days too late and received absolutely nothing. PAY FOR THE BETTER PREP PROGRAM.

Needs Improvement. Pros: Good bank of MBE questions with analytics. Some of the lectures are helpful Far less than competitors Cons: Not all the materials are in the app, making it annoying to track things down Some lectures are nothing more than someone reading the outline aloud, which makes them useless The flash cards are a waste of time It's almost necessary to acquire supplemental materials such as more MBE questions, competent flash cards, etc. Bottom line: One could spend the same amount of money and just buy materials for self study.

BarMax is Terrific. I am a very busy doctor and clinical scientist. Therefore, I haven’t had the time to sit for the Bar exam as of yet. However, I’ve been enrolled in a number of Bar exam material, and BarMax is clearly the best resources available. I’m very confident that I’ll pass on the first with this Bar exam material. Dr. Archie Johnson The BarMax is an incredible way to study for the Bar exam. I think that the reason most people fail is the exam is because they have spent less time with practicing the exam questions. I think it is the case that students that we need to go through at least the 1800 questions, to learn the rules of law, and to see how the bar examiners repeat the particular issues on the bar exam. That is essentially what borrow max has provided the student, both the bar exam questions, the excellent interpretation of the rationale behind each question, plus the audio lectures and flashcards that will help supplement the actual practice a bar exam questions. I also believe that if you talk to students who have not passed the bar exam it’s because they have not gone through the questions as extensively as a BarMax has provided that excellent opportunity. Lots of Content Problems for UBE Bar Prep. I used BarMax for CA & NY. Passed both 1x. Having said that, if you’re not taking CA I’d stay far away from BarMax. The course is written for CA bar and just edits out material for other jurisdictions. It’s a real nightmare when you’re in the middle of bar prep, eg why on earth is Prop 8 being mentioned in a Evidence outline for UBE. The company shrugged off numerous complaints. I ended up just relying on a used BarBri Conviser Mini Review book and abandoning BarMax halfway through for remainder of my NY prep... which surprisingly is verbatim (yes verbatim!) the BarMax outlines read out loud by their founder, not a law professor, not sure he’s even a lawyer... I swear I wish these companies were regulated by NCBE. I really wanted to make a formal complaint.

Passed the CA Bar on my first try!. I'm not a top student or test-taker. I am a busy, working attorney. Bar Max gave me everything I needed in a streamlined, easy to use anywhere package. It had everything I needed to pass the CA bar exam. I agree with some of the critiques--slow customer service, some inconsistencies and gaps in the materials, some less-than-compelling presentations. But those don't take away from the effectiveness and ease of use of Bar Max, or its great price and overall value.

Great Bar Exam App. Love how my CA Bar exam material is on the app at the tip of my fingers. Wish the essay lectures were a bit more comprehensive. The app works great. Great bank of MBEs and the analysis for each is very helpful especially when you go through each lecture, then through it’s corresponding the flash cards then doing the MBEs and reading the explanation for each answer (even if you got it right)...this method has helped me both understand and remember the material.

Best app around. I am a full time working single mom who passed the bar with help from Barmax. Their app is awesome for MBEs and what really helped me was being able to take specific subjects and focus on those rather than just take the questions as they come. They have a reasonable price on everything, including essay grading paid per essay and most importantly they never drop you. If you fail, you don’t have to pay again for the app. They care more about helping you pass than making money like some of their competitors. I also had a great experience with tutors at Barmax which really helped me bring it home to pass. Highly recommend!

Worked for me.. I graduated in May 2016 and started clerking for a district court judge in Saint Paul, MN, in June 2016. The legal job market in the Twin Cities is externally competitive and I could not pass up the opportunity for employment. I took the MN Bar in the summer of 2016 and again in the summer of 2017. I used Kaplan as a study resource, but could not find a good balance between keeping up their study schedule, working, and keeping myself somewhat sane. The BarMax app enabled me to easily listen to lectures and drill multiple choice questions whenever I had downtime. I enjoyed BarMax and felt it was worth the investment. I sat for the MN Bar again this past February, passed, and will be sworn in this coming May.

Well Worth the Money. I was honestly very happy with BarMax as my choice for my bar prep course! I used BarMax to study for the MPRE after narrowly missing the score needed for my state. After using BarMax to study for the MPRE, I improved my score by 25 points, scoring above and beyond what is required for any jurisdiction. Based on this, I made the decision to use BarMax for the New York July 2018 bar exam. The lectures were just what you needed to know, none of the extra fluff. I loved having access to an abundance of MPT and MEE questions and answers. They essay scoring service was very insightful! The colander was very easy to stay on track and allowed for plenty of time to review. My favorite feature was the MBE portion of the course. BarMax provides you with actual questions released by the Board of Law Examiners, not questions drafted for the course. Therefore, the MBE questions were like the ones on the actual bar. Because of BarMax, I was able to pass the NY bar and score high enough to be able to transfer my UBE score to the majority of accepting jurisdictions.

Unreliable reference, poor customer service. Their offer of “Immediate lifetime access” is so highly conditional as to be borderline fraud. Never believe this may be a useful reference. They will gleefully take your thousand dollars only to randomly lock you out of access, refusing to re-enable it until you meet their demands for documentation from the bar. Think carefully before placing any trust in this company.

Good product. Terrible customer support. My account was blocked for possible sharing (which I am not). Customer support is almost non-existent. I’ve tried calling, emailing, and even their online chat and getting anyone to respond back to me or much less fix the issue has been futile.

Eh. I don’t love this app. Barbri has much better explanations. I also have problems with the app loading answers. It seems like they didn’t spend much money to make the app. It needs to be updated. I do like easy accessibility to MBE questions. It’s really nice to have them right on my phone since I have a toddler who makes studying difficult at times. If you have the ability to do problems with Barbri online or with a book, do that instead.

Highly recommended. Hands down the best bar exam review course. This is a great course with outstanding material. Personally, I really found the message boards for the MBE questions as a great resource during my bad prep. Thanks, BarMax!

Almost perfect. Everything that really matters is good. Lectures are great and easy to follow, outlines are informative, practice questions are a must have. App is built to work best with tablets but I think there’s another level to get to in re: to annotating on the app. Would love to be able to use Apple Pencil to highlight and annotate in a way similar to Goodnotes. Regardless, don’t think there’s a better bar prep app.

Pleased customer. I am very pleased with my Barmax purchase. Passed the bar the 1st try. Of course you will get out what you put into it. Seek out additional help if you need it, but overall this was a great experience.

The app is decent but doesn’t include all necessary options. For example, on the web you can listen in different speed varieties. On the app you can’t. Not sure why.. Also, the columns shift and become really narrow and very much not readable. Again, looks pretty simple to correct. Not sure why not done

Almost a scam. I passed the bar in NY with another brand and thought I’d save some bucks by using bar max for the CA bar. Bad idea. Bar max provided me with ZERO practice essays, other than the ones CA offers for free online. The outlines they provide are similar to the quality of those you can download off the internet for free - none of the nuance you need to know. Oh, and they claim they have the highest pass rate...but how would they know? They never even asked me if I passed.

Great Substantive Bar Review. Got this for the Cali Bar review and MPRE. Materials are clearly top notch. Very easy to use very user friendly. Obviously the value of not having to carry around physical books goes without saying! In addition to the app materials they also send you all the material you need for practice essays etc and Lecture outlines via email. Customer support is excellent. Its not a question of "get the app and good luck to ya all" scenario. In the interest of full disclosure, I will say at the time of writing this, I have not sat the exam, but truth be told, what every happens at the exam, it won't be due to the app. The material are there and they are more than adequate. But like any other course you need to put in the effort to prepare yourself. For me I m glad I found this because I need a bit of a longer preparation period that what some of the other "traditional" courses offer. UPDATE 2019: my career aspirations required me to seek admission to NY, decided to go with BarMax UBE and don’t regret it this time around either. Very easy to use. Materials don’t overwhelm you and keep it manageable. The program really is designed in a very good way from the bar exam. But you really gotta follow the tips and instructions given. Even reading the chat answers from instructors in the MBE section really does help. Lectures, answering questions etc, all well explained in the program is what will put the odds of passing in your favor.

Don’t waste your time with the others. Took barbri and Flemings, both just overload you will mountains of documents intended to make you feel like you are getting something for your Money. This program is tailored to give you a schedule you can follow, materials that are concise and intuitive and lectures that are clear, easy to follow instead of long laborious history lessons ; just what you need to prepare for the exam. Wish I had used this the first time! His mentorship and techniques calm you and allow you to really prioritize what’s needed to pass.

App is disappointing. They have yet to respond to concerns about the app not properly working on iPad Pro, including not showing the entire explanation of reposted due to some glitch. The response- does it work in browser on computer? Yes, but I purchased the APP - not a program for my computer browser - for the MBE questions alone. As a practicing attorney getting licensed in another state, I do not need much. But I need to practice MBE questions. I had a computer program in 2001 that was more efficient and better than this for the MBE! That program worked so that you were given 2,000 MBE questions until you got every one right. This one does not give them to you a second time or have any method in ensuring that you can continue to work on less familiar areas. Not impressed and kinda a waste.

BarMax is all you need to pass the UBE. I decided to sit for the UBE after being out of the law profession for over 10 years. I received the BarMax material and quickly found out how little I remembered from law school, however the BarMax team outlined a schedule for studying that was perfect for me. The materials are concise and straight forward. Each subject has just the right amount of material to enable you to answer essay questions and MBE questions on that subject. Not only do they have excellent materials but they also have lots of video lectures that teach you how to write an essay for a particular subject area or help you to understand a more difficult concept. The support you receive from the BarMax team is priceless. The option for one on one tutoring was awesome! The tutors are amazing and well worth the extra cost if you are struggling in a certain area or you need help with essay writing. I highly recommend using BarMax for your Bar prep! It helped me to pass the NC UBE this Past February!

Awesome but can use some tweaks. Love this app and program! I just wish the app on phone would sync better with the computer site so that no matter when and where I use, my progress will be properly tracked !

Passed on the first try!. Just passed the WA bar exam from February. Used only BarMax and paid less than a 1/4 of what BarBri charges. Not only that, BarMax didn’t make me study 10-12 hours a day like my colleagues using BarBri were doing! BarMax gives you exactly what you need to succeed without bogging you down with needless topics and study time. I never felt stressed out with BarMax and completed 100% of the program. A lot of my colleagues barely made 70-80% completion of BarBri and they were spending upwards of $4,000 for it. Thanks so much BarMax, you were a lifesaver!

This is it. If you have any plans to pass the Bar, this is your sure bet. Suddenly this lightens the load, organizes beautifully your path and delivers unmatched insight into what you need to know to pass. I am glad I bought this program.

Couldn’t have passed without BarMax!. As a foreign attorney, taking the California bar exam was one of the hardest but I couldn’t have made it without the help of BarMax! The course outline and tutoring are exemplary but most of all, the cost is so reasonable. I would recommend BarMax to any first timer or foreign attorney. Thank you BarMax and the BarMax team!

Great app but no lifetime access. Good program overall. The lectures and access to the MBE bank had the most value of the entire program. Unfortunately, lifetime access doesn’t mean lifetime access. So when I wanted to use the lectures and MBEs again when I sat for another state’s bar... my account was blocked.

BarMax & Matias Gonzalez Private Tutor. If you hire any of the private tutors, I highly recommend Matias Gonzalez. He is awesome and helps you with everything you will need to pass this exam — how to organize, strengthen knowledge in subjects you are weak in, stress management, and how to properly allocate your time so you can get through this grueling two day exam. This software is absolutely fantastic. What an amazing new way to study for the bar exam with awesome pass rates. If you are disciplined and stay the course, you can pass the bar on the first try with this software!

Great results on MPRE with BarMax!!. BarMax was essential to me passing the MPRE! I used the program as directed and listened to the lectures and followed along with the outline most of the time, other times I just listened. Then I reviewed the flash cards and did the review questions. The lectures were broken down into short digestible sections. This made it easy to absorb and retain the information. My overall score with BarMax’s free MPRE program from was about a 78 but I ended up with a scaled score of 116 in the February 2018 MPRE. I would definitely recommend this program to prepare for the MPRE. Thanks again BarMax!

I passed the February 2021 CA Bar Exam. I’m a repeat taker of the CA bar exam, and I finally passed this test with the help of BarMax!! Lifetime access- you can’t beat it. The app works perfect off an iPad which I suggest to u have and equally as good on the iPhone. But most important is the nuanced tips they give that you can read in a book

Don’t waste your money. I am a practicing attorney and purchased this course to study for the bar exam in another state (i.e., this wasn’t my first bar exam or bar prep course). I knew for the price I wasn’t getting all the bells and whistles of Barbri but for what this costs, I was expecting something that would bring me up to speed on all the topics and I would supplement with what I already knew about the exam from my prior experience and course. This was utterly useless and I ended up completely abandoning this course and purchasing materials from Studicata which were far more user friendly, helpful, and on point for about a tenth of the price of this course. The problem with this course is it is a bunch of lecturers who first tell you all the reasons they are so wonderful and smart and then go on to simply read lengthy outlines to you ad nauseam, most without any insight into the actual exam, for example, which topics are highly tested and which topics are highly tested and which are only rarely tested. This is extremely useful information when you’re trying to learn and retain 15 subjects at once. It’s as though these lecturers have forgotten the goal is to PASS the exam, and not to bog you down with every single iota of information down to how to calculate your grandmother’s uncles stepsons cousin’s per capita share in the event that she dies intestate without any heirs. Maybe Harvard grads have time for that and the attention span and retention ability to prepare as though there is a golden ticket for scoring in the top 1%, but for the rest of us, I can’t recommend this course as a useful tool for preparing for the actual exam. In addition to the extremely tedious lectures, you get some really awful half-completed outlines with no room for completing them and/or taking any notes while you listen to the lectures, and past exams and answers, all of which are available on the UBE website, with no additional answers or explanations of essay answers or additional information whatsoever. So really all you get for the price are the tedious lectures, useless outlines, publicly available test materials, some flash cards, and the test questions broken down by topic. For comparison, the Studicata outlines I purchased have both lengthy and mini-review outlines—super helpful for reviewing before the exam. All outlines are very well organized and neatly laid out with indications next to each topic of how often the topic is tested—so you don’t waste time getting bogged down on something that is rarely tested. Again, the test materials and answers are available on the UBE website and the Studicata outlines were a fraction of this price. And, best of all, you can read them yourself instead of paying to have a Harvard grad read them to you.

Awful app from a deceitful company. The misrepresentation that you have access to this app for life has been shown to be a lie from my experience. Testmax used frivolous reasons such as usage from different ip addresses falsely to prevent my use of the app. Caveat Emptor. This is likely to end in court.

Easiest Bar Prep. Highly recommend it. It’s the best in the market for foreign lawyers. As a foreign lawyer, I used BarMax myself and passed it on the first try.

Frauds. By the time you realized you paid $900 for outlines, they laugh at you and tell you it’s too late. Avoid this company.

The next frontier in bar prep. I wanted to write a quick review to tell you how thankful I am for your app and for your support. I graduated from law school back in 2009, but never took the bar exam because I entered academia right away and have been teaching at the university level for the past six years. I was honestly petrified at the thought of trying to tackle the bar exam on my own, with no help and no review course, six years after graduation. I work a full-time job now and couldn’t take the time off necessary to take a full BarBri review course. I downloaded the UBE full version and used it to study for the exam on my own for several weeks. AND I PASSED!!!! And I didn’t just pass; I passed with plenty of room to spare and with a score easily transferable to any other UBE state. I honestly never could have been successful without the help of BarMax and its amazing app. The lectures, the multiple choice questions, the exam questions, the feedback; everything helped so much. You guys and gals are absolutely amazing. You provide a product that fills a critical gap in the bar prep world. Thank you for everything you’ve done and, in particular, for providing the support I needed to successfully pass the Minnesota state bar exam. I will never forget how important this app has been in my life, and I will speak its praises to anyone who ever has questions about bar prep.

Unable to login. I entered the exact same email and password from my computer onto this app. I am unable to login since it says they were invalid credentials. Please fix this app.

Passed the Bar!. I passed the Bar using this program for the Mississippi Bar exam. I used Kaplan the first time to no avail but I used BarMax for the July 2019 exam and I give it 5 stars!!!

Good but Glitchy and Spammy. The content was great; I really liked the outlines, audio, and quizzes. The problem is that the app was so glitchy that it always shut down before I got to use much of it. I even reinstalled the app, to no avail. Furthermore, they made me verify my phone number and now they won’t stop spamming me.

I passed. This app is a must have if you want to pass the California bar exam. I used other bar exam prep materials and had no success. The first time I used this app I missed passing by 10 points, and that was after four years since graduation. I contacted barmax and asked them if I could reset the app so I could study again for the next exam. They told me that they had improved the app and sent me the Improved version, at no cost, that's customer service. This time around I passed! I would recommend this app to anyone that wants to pass. Everything is broken down to something that is manageable, but you'll have all the information you'll need. It's true that there are not a lot of explanations on the MBE questions, but for me I think it helped. When I would get one wrong it forced me to go back to the outlines to find out why I got it wrong. Think I got better command of the material because of that. Like anything you only get out what you put in so you will still have to study, I am confident that if you follow the study schedule you can pass the exam it worked for me.

App Crashes. I just downloaded the app to study for the MPRE and it just crashed after barely starting to listen to the intro. Now it just crashes a few seconds after opening. Waste of time.

Just what you need, great tips and no extra stuff. I recommend this course especially for someone who cannot devote all day everyday to studying because of other life responsibilities. I decided to take a bar for another state for career optionally and to take advantage of the remote COVID bar offering (finding a positive opportunity in the midst of the pandemic) to allow me to take a bar for a state across the country, and 20+ years after my last bar exam. I was also working full time at a big law job and could take no time off so was studying late at night and on weekends when I was not working. BarMax did not offer the particular state law course for my state but I used it for the MBE and MPRE portions as I wanted maximum studying efficiency for those portions and it worked! I don’t practice in any area tested on the bar so had to relearn all of it. As soon as I signed up I got a call from them to discuss how to use the course, if I had questions, etc., which was great. I scored more than 30 points higher than I needed to pass. The materials are not so overwhelming as other courses and you can focus on just what you need to know with real test questions. And the office hour tips from Celeste and Jennifer and others are really useful and I highly recommend them. Like they say, you of course have to put your time in as well doing your work on your own study process with outlines, flash cards, whatever works for you, but the way they lay out the materials and the app and all the great study tips, including from past students, makes those easy to prepare. Good luck to those studying! You can do it!

Keeps crashing. I don't know how well this app works as it just keeps crashing. My phone is up to date so I don't know what the problem is. 😢

Good, but in serious need of quality control. I have the NY review materials within the general app. While the system is really well planned and organized, it could use some substantial work in the quality control department. There are multiple errors in the content - not incorrect law, but simply things like the calendars not matching in different views, certain lectures having audio that is poor quality or has editing mistakes (repetition etc), some lecturers covering the topic less well than others for an unfamiliar audience (namely trusts & estates, and article 9, among others - contrast article 3, and the subjects read by the guy who runs barmax, which are much better), and whole sections of multiple choice repeating if you use the "all subjects" and then return to a specific subject, to name a few. I would buy it again, but really hope the makers take note and improve it. Edit: not to mention the bugs. It crashes frequently, and 5 days before the exam the text of the subject matter jx lecture disappeared and won't come back after closing, restarting, updating, etc.

DONT FALL FOR BARMAX!!!!! PLEASE!!!!. If Barmax was really that good, they wouldn’t be trying so hard to sell it to you!!! They are really good at technology and manipulating ads so that all that comes up when you do a search is BarMax. Anyone that’s familiar with websites and searches know that it’s an advertising tactic. If you notice, also all the websites that promote Barmax are somewhat biased. In addition, many 5 star comments here are from people that had yet to take the bar. You don’t see a lot of “I passed the bar” comments. Even their pass rates are misleading. They don’t reveal the year. They only average the pass rates over the years. Worst? They ghost on you near the Bar exam time and take ten years to respond to your questions. With that being said: I’m all for innovation but Barmax is only good as a supplement not as a main course for CALBAR. So please, unless you are an attorney sitting for the calbar OR extremely disciplined and don’t need answers to your questions quickly, you should consider an actual commercial bar review course or hiring a tutor. It’s important to track your progress effectively and get feedback. It’s also important to understand that there’s a lot of information you need to learn. So you need structure. Don’t go cheap and regret it like me. The bar is hard for a reason and anything that makes it seem easy or makes promises too good to be true will only work to hurt you in the end. March 26 Update from Feb 27 Comment Above - I switched from Barmax to Themis and already I can see the difference. For the first time in my bar prep I feel like I’m on track. And the best part is that I don’t need to dig outside resources outside of Themis to figure out what some rule means. Everything is so clearly explained in the lectures and their outline book is so detailed that I don’t even have questions. I can see why some of my counterparts that took Themis passed CA bar. UPDATE ON FEB 26, 2021 I passed the October 2020CA Bar (my second time) using Themis MBE Quiz Builders, AdaptiBar, Emmanuel’s, Mary Basicks books, and an amazing study group.

No dead weight; a lean mean bar exam reasoning machine!. Love the way it integrates the substantive lessons with the issue spotting, examples and historic bar exam questions. One single process, instead of three.

Unsatisfactory and riddled with errors. There are so many careless errors in this program. It does not elicit confidence. Do not cheap out. Buy a more established program that has been checked for bugs and errors. This is not worth the stress and dissatisfaction.

Owner is Great.. Great product. Great technical support which is not needed because it’s a great product.

Joke. This app will block you and your email if you use it on multiple devices. It’s on my iPhone and iPad.

Good app that could be great. BarMax is more than good enough to justify its cost; in fact, it makes me skeptical why anyone pays thousands more for "classes" that are just video recordings and lots of useless filler. BarMax provides you with exactly what you need to feel comfortable and confident in studying for the bar - outlines, real practice multiple choice questions, and state-specific essays. It has me way more confident than my peers, who are using traditional bar prep, because I only study what I need to study, rather than fake questions or ditzy lecturers. The support is also fantastic. That said, there are minor drawbacks that prevent this from being an app for everyone - especially those who have their bar prep bankrolled by an employer. The app does crash; the outlines are not matched to the lecture; the lectures, while stripped down, are almost useless; the skeleton outlines don't always fully match with the outlines or lectures; and the flashcards are full of inconsistencies or missing. This is a laundry list of problems, but I should stress they are MINOR problems. Ultimately, BarMax is a fantastic app that does everything it needs to, but to really challenge the big boys it needs better polishing and editing. I absolutely recommend it for anyone who has to pay for their own bar prep.

BarMax is amazing!. I took the bar 4 times. After using bar max combined with personal dedication to the program I improved my ube score by the necessary 19 points needed when compared to my third attempt. The price was genuinely affordable and provided all the necessary tools at my finger tips while either on my phone, my iPad or a laptop. The multiple choice function with study mode and test mode were beneficial. My first Attempt I enrolled in other bar prep course, I was close to my state’s ube required score on the initial exam. There were certain functions I felt very useful and the company was generous enough to work with my limited finances by providing a discounted rate based upon my gpa. However this further illustrates how much of a positive impact Bar Max was to my success. The second time around I took it a year after the first time. Yet I recall the academic advisors warning of how much more difficult the bar is if you are more than a year removed from law school; working a regular job to makes ends meet; and again working in the requisite time needed to implore several other different study habits to include assistance provided by my law school and additional help from the other bar prep course previously mentioned.... this time my score dropped significantly and was now 13 points away from a passing score. My Multiple choice scored dropped 15 points but my essay score improved to a passable level. Third time around I repeated step 2 but did not use a bar prep course. I also can openly admit I did not spend the necessary time to feel comfortably know the material. I missed by 19 points. My essay scored stay the same range... which means my multiple choice score dropped again. The fourth time around I at to ask the court for special permission to retake the test for a fourth time. An examiner in my state only gets to sit three times before having to get the court’s permission each time after. This means although the court granted this request, The was no guarantee I would be able to sit for a fifth exam. At this time, I purchased BarMax, I stuck a rigorous outline schedule every morning. I practiced essay writing under timed conditions and I used BarMax daily whether study or test mode. Sometimes I studied/tested specific areas until I perfected them, other times I was able to use the mixed question database to feel more like the test and see how I performed under testing conditions. This app provides accurate law, go back and double check if you get an answer wrong... read why... look the referenced law up provided in the answer if I needed a better understanding... and thoroughly enjoyed reviewing the comments/questions by other users to see that others often time had the wrong answer for similar reasons that I did but then the response would be a reminder to stick to call of question and rule of law, include know exemptions. I will always believe that The Most important part of my success is when I used BARMAX as the official way to study for my UBE. It also helped with my essays because I used the same information BarMax provides to assist me with my essay outlining the 7 core areas the multiple choice focuses on. This came in handy because on my last exam, many of these core 7 were tested in some shape on the essay portion. Best purchase I have ever made!

Not helpful. I’m an attorney with 8 years in BigLaw. I passed NY with Barbri many years ago and thought I could do with the cheaper option at BarMax for Cali. Big mistake. Lectures are subpar, outlines and text books are very poorly structured/drafted. BarMax is way too amateurish.

No, try another for MPRE. I want to like this so much but some answers are just plain wrong. There’s comments from 3-5 years ago identifying questions as wrong that still haven’t been fixed.
