Love my digital Oregonian!. I’d much rather read the paper as laid out than use the live version and try to search...this ap allows me to leaf through the pages easily, but with the added advantages of zooming in to read; takes up less space on the kitchen table; and ability to select and forward an article’s link to friends. Plus, I’m connected every day to Oregon while on vacation.

After a slow start, works well. I enjoy my local newspaper in the morning. And i prefer the “print paper format” offered by this app, along with the online Oregonlive format. However, despite a subscription for many years, i must login each morning. And the interface is not responsive, leaving one to think the taps used to login were ineffective. This login delay does not happen with any other app to which i subscribe, leading me to believe the delay is a property of the app. Make the delay go away, or incorporate an autologin function, into its next version.

Review. I like the format— left side regular size print, right size magnified. The coverage of our problems seems very complete and even handed. I feel I am hearing many voices and opinions. I feel I am reading the entire newspaper without having to find a way to recycle it. Pidgero

Best way to read the Oregonian. After the Oregonian went to most days being online only, I started using this app. I still get the printed version on the days that it is published and delivered, but that’s for my wife to see. I still read the paper with the app. This is also the case when we are on vacation; out of town or even out of the country. I like being able to maintain my morning ritual.

About the coolest way to read a paper. Thank you for taking the time to create a great experience using the iPad app! It's intuitive and captures attention. Let's strive for better news within it, it'll take us ALL

Oregonian. Still somewhat buggy but improving. It refreshes immediately after a morning down load, tolerable but also during the day. When it does it only sometimes takes you back to where you were. It never used to, so this is an example of incremental improvements.

Easyto read and navigate. I had a hard time giving the paper edition of the Oregonian, but now I am totally hooked on the digital version. The adjustable font makes it easy to read. It is also easy to navigate back and forth among features.

Updated version needs work. Navigation structure at the top takes up too much screen space. Previous drop down in version 4 was better. Pictures are grossly distorted when opening an article to read because they are placed in landscape at the top. Please fix.

Great app. The bugs have been steadily quashed, and now I look forward to reading my daily Oregonian. Easy to catch up on past issues. Thanks to the developers for the improvements.

Generally good app, but glitchy - often need to reload.. I really enjoy only about one-third of the news and commentary which can be very good ( e.g. George Will and Leonard Pitts), with most of the other stories irrelevant, delusional, or selling the latest flavor of popular obsessions. But to be fairly informed, I force myself to read some of the latter.

My Oregonian. Doing fine with it even at 75. Well, I was a professional illustrator using Adobe for years. Even so, enjoying the ease of use. My only beef is that The NY Times crossword gets cut off while trying to print using the app. Prints fine through website. Using iPad because am enjoying being freed from computer console. Thank you. Wish your opinions were more liberal and in tune with Portland vibes. Even so, much improved from old Oregonian of my childhood ( remembering the strike-break 1950s?). Thank you for helping us through rough times.

Latest update. Today’s update has made for a frustrating morning. I can no longer read the paper like I used to. I used to be able to have the option to go to specific pages, have the paper open to fill my whole iPad screen and print the crossword puzzle from the app. Those options are no longer available no matter whether I choose print or digital versions or how I select my page layout. I was told by customer service to pinch the puzzle, take a screen shot and print it. That gives me the tiniest puzzle ever when printed. If I could give zero stars, I would. I am not impressed!

Just like reading the paper paper, but better. Photos are clearer. You can expand the print size to your best view. You can save, print or share articles with friends. This how I read the paper every morning.

Breakfast friend. Reading the digital Oregonian while having breakfast and coffee everyday is a great way to start the day. My husband and I read together on our separate devices, and it gives us lots of discussion topics.

LOVE the DigitalVersion. As I travel more, it has been one of my great pleasures to stay connected to Oregon with the comfort of the digital form of my old newspaper. As a longtime reader, I enjoy the traditional format of headlines and articles with a beginning and end. PLUS, I am a devoted Comic fan! Full color and three pages, better than ANY paper I’ve seen!

The Oregonian Newspaper. It took me many years to stop home delivery of the daily Oregonian. After delivery reduced to several times a week and price skyrocketing, I opted for on-line news. I have been pleasantly surprised how easy the APP is to use and now could not live without my morning Oregonian on-line. Thank you for staying up with “the times” as they are a-changin!

Good journalism. I read the Oregonian daily on my iPad. The quality of the writing and reporting is very high especially the featured articles and investigative reporting. It seemed sad to me when the print versions were no longer available daily but I have adapted to reading the e edition with the app so that now I read it with my iPad even when the print version lands at my door. I like the extra e edition features and that I can enlarge the print and pictures. The best bonus feature for e readers is the Washington Post articles on Sunday.

First Rate Paper First Rate App. I have been using this app for several years and it has just gotten better over time. As a life-long reader/subscriber to the Oregonian what I like best about this app is it presents digitally the exact visual experience of reading the hard copy. Even the digital New York times doesn’t do that, or at least I have not been able to it. The digital edition through the app functions well. It is easy to expand the print for easy reading, and if you close the app, it takes you right back where you were when you return. I don’t read OregonLive much. The ads are so much more obtrusive.

New Version Works Well. I like the new version 2.9.80. Seems to run better on my iPad. I like being able to choose between Digital Edition and OregonLive at start of session. No problems at all. And I like supporting local news.

Not always easy to use. Has improved. However, at times it is difficult to log into and keeps asking for member log in. Also is very difficult to enlarge a picture that is in the newspaper text that has been listed on the right for reading.

Could be even better.. Call me old fashioned but I’ve always liked the look of a “real” newspaper. Thus a digital print facsimile version is important. A suggested improvement: Tapping on an article yields a split screen. Full screen would look better and be easier to read.

The Oregonian. I read the paper everyday using this ap. I read it in the “newspaper format” and touch each article as I go to enlarge it. Sometimes the article is incoherent and hard to read because the software has combined more than one article,(ie:last Sunday) or jumps around. It used to have numbers show up and strange words which I realized were from the crossword adjacent to the article I was reading. We use Apple devices. My husband uses the other format and doesn’t have the same problems.

Works - could be better. I use the app regularly and it works, but would be better if It didn’t require print download before digital download. Would also be nice if I could see what I was writing in this review. It is white text on a white background. That and as I write this review the text is white on white so I can’t see it. So I am drafting the text in another app and pasting it so I can see what I am writing. Not great.

iPad version is great, iPhone version is broken. A great way to read the paper is on the iPad. I prefer to zoom the text image rather than activate the reader panel, but to each their own. I like the portability of the app and the fact that I don’t need to have the paper version each day. As I mentioned in the title, the iPhone version stopped working a while ago. Don’t know why, it just never loads the paper.

Just like the physical paper!. I’m loving this app for the Oregonian. I really like a daily paper to find local news and I haven’t been disappointed! I believe local journalism needs our support and I get a lot for my money. Thank you for this easy way to get my news fix.

Digital light, perfect for the post-now age. You can read a mirrored copy of the physical news paper. This prevents doom scrolling and target ads. It lets me connect with my newspaper/community without the falling into my own news feed.

Great Paper. We are enjoying subscribing to The Oregonian every single day, by reading world, national and local coverage to multiple supplemental publications. Additionally, an afternoon edition is now an excellent regular feature.

Better than the other Oregonian app. Interface is way better and allows customization of news feed. Main issue is that it takes two clicks every I launch the app to get to customized news feed, and crashes if I make those two clicks too quickly.

Sometimes it doubles the edition pages. Sometimes the pages are doubled - Two page one, two page two, two page three. Happens every 2 to 3 months. Nothing seems to resolve the issue.

Easy Navigation. I always have my local paper with me whenever or wherever I happen to be. Going to a specific article or section takes only two taps. Slick!

Good reporting is good have!. I’ve been very pleased with the coverage OregonLive has given to Covid, BLM and politics. Watching the way your reporters have carefully walked all sides of the lines has been like watching a good ballet. Thank you for making the effort to show all sides of the stories...leaving each of us to decide who WE think are villains, the victims, and the heroes. That’s what good media is for: tell us the stories so we can make decisions we need to live our lives.

User friendly but could be improved. Easy to use but needs a hot link feature that lets the user read articles that continue on multiple pages and allows the user to return to the starting page. This was a feature in an earlier version but not in this version.

Works well on my iPad - easy way to get news every day. Love the way the app ‘fits’ the article to my screen size, then allows me to go back to full page and skim for other articles. Glad the Oregonian has been able to keep the news fresh. I live in Eugene and the Register-Guard hard copy says ‘Go online’. Then you go online and get day old news.

Page size. My husband and I love the printed format of the paper ( as opposed to headlines with links), and are thankful the Oregonian still has the morning print edition available in the app. We enjoy reading on our iPads each morning. However a recent update made it so that rather than one page at a time, you can only get the two page spread. So no longer can we tilt the iPad to make the page fit horizontally but view just the top half—making the font size readable. Now you have to use your fingers to stretch the screen and then scroll about to read different articles. We’ve gotten used to it but the old way was easier. Over all, the app works great other than this complaint.

Does the job. This app makes it easy to read the Oregonian without much fuss. I can scan the paper by section and share articles, or recipes, pretty easily. It has an annoying habit of wanting to reload if I have taken a quick break from reading, but, unlike earlier, I can decline that option now.

Much improved News Site. I gave up reading the Oregonian on a daily basis because their digital site was so hard to navigate. Since the change, I’ve become a daily reader again and if an advertisement is interesting the links are great. Worth a look.

Easy to use. I turn to the OregonLive App first thing every morning. It’s easy to read past issues & that days issue. I read the newspaper in the same format as my paper copies, but can zero in on an article I’m interested in. Easy!

Like the app, but.... ...sometimes the articles don't flow, and there are still glitches with the puzzles feature. If you tap pnce on an article, it normally opens in a new window with a larger view of the text. The entire article can be read by just scrolling down. On some, it ends at the same place it ends on the print version and then you have to exit the article, go to the continuation page, and then read the rest of the article. As for puzzles, there is no way to log into your account from the puzzle page until you've completed a crossword or another puzzle. Additionally, once you've logged in, it should keep your scores so you can see how you did over the month. The CROSSWORD PUZZLE does NOT do this. There are many other glitches to the crossword as well, too many to mention. Bottom line, I very rarely play the crossword anymore as it just doesn't work correctly.

Good, but not great.. I like being able to read The Oregonian in this app compared to the horrible experience of OregonLive. I would rather they follow the format of the online versions of the New York Times or Washington Post, but this is a good second place. If the Advance hegemony would allow OregonLive to reformat their website to match that of an actual newspaper (even USA Today is better), I would switch my subscription to that. Until then, I will use this app.

Slowly improving. I’m a long time reader of the “paper” on my iPad mini. Through the years, they did some issues and creat others. This latest version seems stable. What I really like is once I’ve read an article, it will not be re-presented to me later - because it’s like reading a paper - start on the front page and stop on the last page. What could be improved: I read by zooming in and out with my fingers. If I nearly touch, the app jumps to full-screen view of that article I touched (and may not be the one I am reading). I would prefer a double tap The Sunday comics could be served at higher resolution. Some of the text is hard to read at full zoom

Darn useful App.. As I read multiple newspapers a day I think this “local” Oregonian App is amongst the very best. I’m speaking completely as an iPhone reader. No idea what it looks like on a real Mac screen. (We also get the print edition several times a week).

Love reading the Oregonian from anywhere!. While we have been home a lot lately, I love being able to read the Oregonian on my phone! This is also great when we are not at home. It is great to be able to share articles with friends and family.

It’s how I start the day. Every morning I start my day with a cup of coffee and the Oregonian app. It’s my main source of news. I appreciate the convenience of being able to read the Oregonian on all my devices anywhere I go.

Feels like a newspaper. Although this is an electronic form. I feel like that it is formatted like the newspaper. I have been a regular subscriber of the Oregonian since 1997. As with any newspaper, it has its pros and cons. But I do enjoy waking up to it every day. I still like the paper version better. But the electronic version is still more in line with how a newspaper should flow.

Needs a dark mode. Two concerns I have is the app does not have a dark mode. Would be great for battery life and low-light readers. The app also crashes unexpectedly when swiping between articles. I would not expect that with routine scrolling.

Improvement over the years. I have been using this app pretty much since the beginning. Most updates made it better. Occasionally the update rendered the app unusable but was fixed later. I like the archives and the magazines available a lot and saving paper never hurts. Not all that fond of the afternoon addition.

Great Diverse Reporting. I have been reading The Oregonian since I was in grade school (I’m 71 now). My father was a city councilman so I started following politics at an early age. I was born and raised in Portland and now have retired in Port Townsend Washington. I still subscribe to the digital version. The factual, unbiased reporting is appreciated. Being able to email the reporters is a plus although I haven’t taken advantage of that. The coverage of the protest marches was wonderful with accompanying videos. Keep up the excellent work. Also a shout out to my friend’s hubby, Ken Goe. I’m a sports fanatic and his awesome reporting is missed. Sincerely, Sarah Earl-Anderson

Miss leading headlines. I enjoy reading the Oregonian on line. Just two criticisms. The small asides in the comics are poorly resolute. Blurry and hard to read. also your headlines in the op-Ed sections often seem to be right leaning. “Biden administration weakens wetland protections after ruling.” It makes Biden look like it was their idea, not like they were forced to act by right wing courts.

Great app. We subscribe to the print version of this paper, but it’s delivered only Sunday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Most of the time, even when I have the paper version, I just read it online using this app. I’ve been using the app through several updates, and the interface is increasingly reliable and intuitive. Only a few minor problems: if I shift to another app and come back, I’ll often get the message “a newer edition is available, would you like to download it now?” Sometimes when I hit no, it downloads the same day’s edition again and I have to scroll to where I was. Overall, I’m happy with being able to read my news this way and to support my local news source.

Local news needs our support. Oregonian has two ways you can get the news, live feed or the daily edition. I use both depending on my mood. I appreciate having local reporters covering local issues. Great in-depth reporting. Local news needs our support!

Oregonian is a great news source. The Oregonian is a a source of balanced news and reading it via the Oregonian app is just like reading the paper issue without the ink stains.

Great access to the O since I live rurally. I love getting the Oregonian every day. Always have! Now that I live outside of any delivery areas, I delight in getting the full paper every day.

Easy to read. Really enjoy the ease of reading The Oregonian this way. No more delivery issues and love the ability to stay in touch when traveling.

Oregonian app. I’ve really gotten used to navigating through the app and barely miss the printed paper. But, I wish I could do the crossword on the app rather than having to print the puzzle.

A subscriber. A subscriber for over 55 years. Enjoy reading the entire paper especially the sports section.

e-edition. It has made the Oregonian a viable national newspaper along with the local news it carries daily. Great choice for those of us who like to follow the political and economic news to more than superficial depths.

Works some of the time. Since getting a new iPad for Christmas The app won’t load a third of the time. Instead of getting a download message it says “print version “ and freezes so that I have to shut off the iPad and restart. Frustrating!

Timely, focused source for local news.. This is a timely source for local news. I use it to track the protests as well as to try and identify odd smoke and other smells coming from the central area of town.

Oregonian app. The app has gotten better but using the arrows on the side to navigate works the first few times you use them then they become unresponsive.

Functional application. Very easy to move around. Can read everything. Some of the graphs don’t pull up well but overall I enjoy it

Better. Gave up on the App years ago, and the paper with it. This latest version works much better, but my gosh what happened to the content.

Miss the daily delivery but still get the news!. Our go to for local news in print. Not a day goes by without reading the Oregonian.

Bad digitizing. I love to read the news in the morning paper. Your digitizing company does a poor job of keeping words together. The apps functions are inconsistent in responding. There are some glaring grammar issues and typos that can be funny at times. Content gets my best rating.

Dislike the new format. Really dislike the new format (v. 4.0.0.1) that requires swiping through every story vs the prior version that had the first few lines in a scrolling format. Hard to tell how to go back beyond the current issue in the digital format. Print format? What is this, 1921?

Great way to read the paper anywhere. The current addition is just waiting for me every morning.

I like the Oregon Live app. Because it gives you the ability to read the daily paper cover to cover.

Hate this new format.. Not liking the new format. Too many clicks to get to an article you want to read where before you could just scroll up and down and click once. Also, it’s really hard to read titles for a lot of the stories. You have to zoom in just to even see what it’s about.

Read Oregonian anywhere. Nice to have our home town paper on the road. Easy to navigate.

Unable to access the publication. Although I have a subscription through the app, since the “upgrade” I am unable to download the daily editions. The message is “you don’t have access to this publication. (24)”. If that is the case, why am I paying for it? What are you going to do to fix it?

Easy and intuitive. Enjoying coming back to the look and experience of the print paper coupled with the advantages of digital.

The Oregonian app. It’s great to have the local “paper” available at all times. The app has gradually improved and become more stable and reliable over the years.

Bug. It has a serious bug. When downloading the latest edition, you can’t close the download window so you can actually read the paper. It seems to be more of a problem on the iPad.

Digital Oregonian. The digital edition of the Oregonian is winning me over, the need for paper edition is becoming less important. I just need to figure out how to safe historic pictures. Good jog O.

Newspaper on my iPad. I love getting up and reading the news on my iPad, especially now since I am mostly at home.

Good but.... It works, but if I have to go to a different app, it wants to reload the paper. Please make it check before it wants to reload

Great Oregonian app. Every thing on the app works well and is easy to use. Only sometimes does the app mess up what the paper actually says.

Pretty good, sometimes unreliable.. Good app. It works perfectly. However, with that being said it is super unreliable. It works about half the time, then the other half I need to do a lot of unnecessary steps just to read the newspaper in the morning.

Longtime subscriber. Love being able to read my local paper wherever I go. Nice addition being able to read Washington Post section on Sundays.

New format. Was there a reason you abandoned the previous format? I am not able to discern one. A free reading the paper I would enjoy reading the comics. I am supposing that navigation was crippled to make it harder to realize that comics are done away with along with the Parade section. This new format does make it only a delayed realization for the subscriber.

Yes. Nice to be able to access the Oregonian, I wish home delivery was an option, but I love getting quality reporting wherever I am.

Great paper. I really enjoy my morning with The Oregonian. The section are laid out perfectly and are very informative. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Staying informed. This app helps me to stay away informed of what’s going on in Oregon and a few other locations. It’s east to use and follows the same format of the printed version of the newspaper.

Great app for reading newspaper. New application seems to work much more efficiently. And works well for keeping up with local news events.

Good news paper app. Though there are sometimes loading issues which can be clunky, I enjoy reading the Oregonian in the newspaper format. Good local coverage, and no ink to wash from my hands!

Comics. Difficult to find the comics, i read on my pad and there are magazines at the bottom of the first display that are the comics. The old format included the comics in the main display and i didnt even know there was more at the bottom.

Untrustworthy. If I leave the site after logging in, I must wait for the site to update Or if logging in at 0540, leaving the site and logging in again at morning break (1000), the app must update. Does that mean the articles have been rewritten or changed? When an article is released , update it with a disclaimer, but do not change it....even if the reporter erred. That is what responsible journalists would do- not rush to publish, then rewrite throughout the day

Easy Peasy News. I feel like a better citizen when I read my local paper and this app makes it easily accessible.

Reliable newspaper app. This app is easy to navigate. News is well organized and there are options to share, search, and save content.

Reliable app. The Oregonian app is a reliable source of information. There are times that glitches happen but overall I am satisfied with the app’s performance.

Wonderful news app.. Let’s me read my app like it was a newspaper but conveniently on my large iPad. I also get to see newspaper editions from my hometown. It is great.

Conundrum. I read the Oregonian online. Usually it’s the same as the print edition but sometimes all I can get is a handful of articles. I don’t like that but can’t figure out how to go to the entire paper.

Sometimes. Sometimes I go online and often wonder if there is that much of a difference between paying and using the app and just looking online. I decided to pay because the virus. I have appreciated that coverage and the honesty after Haas election.

Could be better. Overall this app is good but I think the organization of the stories could improve overall. It feels a bit disjointed.

Love to two options. Nice app. Easy to use. I enjoy having the option to view the digital or the live version.

Rating. Read every edition of the paper on the app. Wish I could more dependably print articles that I want to save or share. Sometimes it “hangs up” and I must shut down/restart my tablet to continue reading.

Very reliable. Like the format and options to read articles. Easy to find different sections.

No problems. The Oregonian loads easily and I have the option of looking at a “live” edition or digital paper. I often look at both. And appreciate the choice.

Improve app. Please make your app easier to see the articles and go through them. I prefer a copy of the print with option to select. That way I can browse headlines and open what I want to read. I read NYT and Washington Post daily but my efforts with the digital Oregonian are a bust!

Improved. I have found the updated Oregonian digital version to be more robust and easy to use

Easy to use. I like the fact that with a single click you can open an article.
