CHORD PROGRESSION. Kicks you out and most the time won’t play the Chord progression you’ve inserted. However big or small.

first impressions. I downloaded the “lite” version of this app and it was pretty useless so I decided to try the “pro” version of the app. After an hour of trying to use this I find it to be buggy. The reverse chord lookup doesn’t tell you what chord you played it just lists those that are “near” what you played. The root note won’t change and when I change it it just goes back to “C”. Want an Ab chord in the progression tool ? no you can’t select that and even if you do find a way to change it, it reverts to something else when you go back to the progression screen. I think a progression tool should be, pick the chords I want and the duration, tempo and bam ! there it is. Not with this app. Nice idea but so far a big waste of time.

Great app!. Love this app! Very useful. I especially like the user library where I can store the chords for each song I'm learning without having to look them up again. Thanks much!

A Great Chord Resource. This app so such a great resource and is fun to play around with. It’s also an excellent learning tool. Most importantly, the developer reads comments and updates the app to address concerns.

So helpful. Put in 4 notes I liked. Gave me over 40 scales relating. Found one I liked for my song. Simple. That alone is worth the change for this app. Thank u.

Very nice app. Great tool to have around. I wish there was a way to turn off the auto-scroll to the top of the sequence in chord progression mode when playing manually.

Great for piano beginners. I like being able to click on scales, chords and circle of fifths and hear them play. Intuitive interface. Responsive and friendly support. This is one of my 'go to' music theory apps.

Best Music app for beginners.. Helps with all your scales in every key along with all the chords that correspond with it. It's very comprehensive and is easy to use and it even has a neat chord progression feature. I recommend it for piano players of all skill levels because it packs powerful music information that could assist anyone, and for 3.99 you can't go wrong.

Excellent. So far I have found nothing that I don't like about this app. It is extremely convenient during practice to type in your chord to find out what the name is. I especially like the Mode feature while your searching scales. Over all, a very useful app

Chord Progression. Could you please fix (or add) the ability to move chords around in Chord Progression interface? At this point you can only delete but cannot switch the chords from place to place. Thank you!

Much better than before. Thanks for updating the app. After hiding the enharmonic keys it seems much easier to find keys/signatures/scales I’m used to seeing. For example I’m used to seeing B Major instead of Cb Major. Again thank you. And I hope the app can improve even further.

Midi out doesn’t work. Used to work fine then they updated the app and now midi out plays one note instead of a chord and gets choppy and freezes. No problem with any other midi out app

Outstanding!. This app has everything you need to learn basic to complex chords, scales, circle of 5ths, and so much more. The chord dictionary is huge and each chord can be played. There is also a large scale dictionary. Very satisfied. Now I just need time to practice...

Works well!. Just note that what they removed was a bug. The chord content is there but just not in reverse look-up. I still recommend app for those studying chords!

Great App to use with Fake Books. I've been looking for an app that gives chords in all inversions, and this meets my needs perfectly. This app has a very wide range of chords and shows a diagram of the chord and lists the notes. I find that it works well with fake books, and I'm also using it with ear training. It is the best app I found for this so far.

Reserve the right to update. So far so go. No complaints only had the app for a few days now... actually learned a few things about music in just a few minutes using it... reserving the right to update after some more time passes

Great help!. Who knew how many scales there are! Most people have no idea. I use the app a lot. It helps me with my music composition work.

Awesome - my Swiss Army knife for harmony!. This has proved to be a very useful app, especially for learning chords and harmonic principles. I am not a piano player, but that doesn't prevent me from getting a lot out of this app. It saves me lots of time because all the info on chords, scales, and harmony I need is at my fingertips. Makes learning so much faster!

My new favorite app!. I'm transitioning from reading sheet music to working off chord sheets, so I need to use inversions quite a bit. On top of giving you hundreds of scales and chords, you can build chord progressions, make inversions, add timing, play them back and even save, load and send. Take the time to learn all the features. I almost gave up on it because I didn't know how to use the progression feature. Now I can't get enough!

Really useful!. This is a Useful and straight forward app. You can't go wrong. I'd love to see a feature where we can create or arrange chord progressions.

Great secondary companion. Although I should be able to remember all the natural skills for their keys this is a great help whenever I just simply can't pull it up as fast as I need to. It has help me begin to craft songs as well as give me new ideas when it comes to melodies and even harmonies. If you are interested in practice or just memory games this is a awesome app and one. It is even better on the iPad because you can play the keyboard on the road.

Useful but confusing. I really like this app but sometime I find it confusing. Some of that is because there are often several ways to notate a chord and the app doesn't have them all. I do wish it was somewhat more obvious which of the dozen chords they show is clearly yours. So is say for a beginner it may be confusing, but is still a very useful tool.

Great!. This app is great for providing the ability to hear chords and scales when a piano is nearby. However, I have noticed that when looking up a chord based on a scale, sometimes it's impossible to select whatever is last on the list. I also think playing arpeggios might be more useful if it went up and down. Overall, a great composition resource!

Incredible!. I learned more in one night about playing chords on a piano than I have with anything else I've ever tried to use. I play guitar and needed to figure out some basic stuff for a back track. By far, exceeded my hopes and did it quickly. Thanks!

Powerful Learning tool. This is the most powerful piano learning app I've seen yet. The only thing missing is a way to actually record song ideas. But this is BY FAR the most complex detailed piano app I've ever used. Great buy !

Everything you need to know about scales, chords, music theory.. Reverse lookup is something I haven't seen in previous apps! Well developed and highly informative. Recommended to beginners all the way to pros and producers.

Excellent!. I am an experienced musician of almost 40 years. I also have seen (and presently own) some of the best music reference apps on the market. In the first release of this app, it is already one of the very best. It easily replaces three of the best piano reference apps I own. A terrific and well-thought-out resource. My only problem: there's little room for improvement. In a word, excellent. Still trying to grasp all the information contained in this app. If you're serious about music, there's a lot of necessary info here.

Fantastic. I am a private music teacher. I have been searching for an app like this. One of my students actually found it and shared it with me. I love it. It has everything I want in scales and chords and accompaniment patterns.

Best music reference. I’ve tried a lot of music theory references, this is the best hands down and worth the purchase. I genuinely would be lost without it.

Best of the best. This is my go to app for everything related to scales and chords. Additionally it has the best and most useful circle of fifths of any other app. Included is every possible musical scale under the sun, but it is also nice that you can create a folder of just your own favorite scales. It also shows common fingering for scales and you can create your own custom fingering.

Superb!. A very nice handy tool at your fingertips to look up scales, chords,etc. I wish there was a way to mark certain chords or scales as favorite. Superb job by developer on look n feel.

A lovely, easy to use tool!. I largely use this as a dictionary- being a professional in the audio industry but not a classically trained musician this app has saved me a lot of time. It's simple, the interface is pretty clean (much better since the last update) and it contains a wide breadth of information. Worth every penny.

Great. All in all this app rocks. I can make chord progressions and export them to midi, i have access to a ton of chords, and it's really helping me learn. One thing I think could improve is the navigation between menus is a bit cumbersome. Fix that and it'd be perfect.

Interface. Really good app that comes in very handy as a chord database when playing. Please make the interface better looking, but most importantly make it user friendly. That is the only thing keeping me from giving this 5stars

Regretting my purchase. I had high hopes for this app, but unfortunately I am regretting my purchase. Like the review titled, 'first impressions', I tried the free version first, but decided to get the app for full functionality. Now I wish I hadn't because it really isn't that helpful, easy to use, or intuitive. I agree with everything written in the 'first impressions' review. The app leads you to believe that you are choosing a root other than C but in actuality, the root chord is always C. Chord progressions are predetermined with some standard selections, but if you wish to choose something other than what is preselected, it is not possible to, for example, choose Ab7 while you have Db as the root chord. There is also no help menu to help you along. I would return this if possible, and can only hope the developers will improve on this.

Amazing.. This app is amazing if you are learning scales and chords. It would be nice to have better jazz names and voicings though. It's impossible to make an E7alt. However, the chord lookup function has always made up for this when trying to find chord scales.

The music app I've been waiting for. This app is a must for any composer/producer! It is so easy to use! There was an issue with the previous version. I contacted the developer and they had it fixed within days! Awesome!

Great App. It should adapt some features from songtive like the building of melodies and arp without all the crappy songtive features like having to mingle with other people and all that jazz. But i like Piano it's awesome. Keep up the good work and thanks for improving on the app little by little.

This has been a real great teaching tool. I use this app nearly every time I sit down and produce music. Reverse lookup is by far the best feature. Highly recommend for all musicians and producers.

Love it!. I've seen other apps like Piano Companion, but never with everything in one place like this! Really convenient and helpful, especially as a college student studying music.

It works great, and I love it! But... Could use a different background color option to the UI, maybe a night mode, cause it's not easy on my eyes. And more chord progression options, like premade chord progressions. Other than that this is easily the best theory app out there. And I love the reverse chord and reverse scale lookup option.

Very useful app. Have been using this for several months now. It still needs a bit of polishing but I find it very useful as a reference source. The 'reverse chord' lookup is great when I play something I like but can't work out what it is exactly.

New update useless. Did not work after updating - totally frozen. Had to delete app & reinstall from Apple store. Works great now but users should be warned that the update may not work and a delete and fresh reinstall may be required. Otherwise, an excellent app.

Amazing. A spectacular app whether your a beginner teaching yourself or a seasoned pianist this app is essential. Easily the most in depth chord library available, a chord progression generator that is leaps and bounds ahead of any other. A full featured scale dictionary a circle of fifths wheel that surpasses apps dedicated solely to the circle of fifths. APP DOESN”T SAVE FILES. Purchased this app (June/2015) Tried to save a chord progression to file within the app———it doesn’t save———also the app does not transfer the file to the iTunes file folder————very disappointed ———if someone has had success with saving files I would appreciate you leave a comment

Launch & Shut. Downloaded this app & installed. Now when I try to launch the app, it just shows intro screen and then shuts back down. iOS 7.0.4 will rate higher when I able to use it.
