App not working!!. This app is constantly forcing updates that lead to non functionality. It was ok previously and served its purpose to send pics and videos but recently has really been HORRIBLE!! Customer support is non existent it’s very sad that even during this pandemic they are still profiting off of families and those in the most unfortunate circumstances in their lives. I have been unable to send money, email, or pics in over a month! The app takes awhile to sign in then just loads to nothing, it says I have no contacts yet my prior emails are there once I try to respond it says the person isn’t my contact and when I try to add a contact it says no search results found when I enter the DIN#. This is truly heartbreaking to constantly occur especially during the holidays. With all the fees they profit off of millions they should at least be able to have a functioning app. It seems pretty obvious that they need to revert to the last version of the app that didn’t have these issues. Thanks a lot for ruining Christmas for the already unfortunate ones this year.

Too many flaws. This app is nice to stay in touch with your loved one if it worked like it is supposed to. Besides being too expensive which is something that you just have to except going into this, my main problem with this app is I spend a long time writing a letter on this and during the proofreading process, more times than not the message will completely “fall off the bottom “ of my device and it’s very frustrating because it is just gone. So all that time and nice things you said are just gone. It was not saved as a draft so I don’t know why that happens or where it goes. I called customer service about this after happening a few times and they do not have a solution or seem to care in fact if you loose stamps or video messages or basically anything they advise you to have the inmate to make a complaint and that is ridiculous as well because nothing is done about any issues. So enjoy this service but use with caution that it may be unpleasant at times when things go awry.

Won’t work at all. The last two months JPay keeps not working at all I can’t sign in then when I get in it says I have no contacts but I do so because no contacts I can’t write my husband. Can’t read his emails I see 5 of them but can’t open. I’ve been trying for 4 hours to write him because of emergency and luckily he called me. Then I tried to call JPay to let them know the problem and it says I can’t call at this time contact them in website but web site won’t load on 3 different devices one being library computer. So no way to tell them JPay isn’t working. Then on good days some times it takes weeks to get a email other times a few minutes. When I say sometimes I mean every day at least one to two emails will take weeks to get. Why is it taking so long. And I’ve told JPay many many many times about this problem and they say oh it’s not our fault it’s the prison or oh well fix it nope still the same they give you a BS answer to get you off the phone. How hard is it to make a app work. Facebook has millions and never has these problems. This isn’t a complicated app it shouldn’t have these problems. I still can’t use JPay and it’s now been 5 hours what is going on?

Oh so glitchy... I started using Jpay the beginning of this year and everyday there is a new issue, I get error messages saying the snap and sends did not actually send so I send again meanwhile the first one sent and it eats another stamp. Most days lately an email takes 2 hours to show up in my outbox. The kiosk at my husband’s facility is down at least 3-4 times a week. It’s either frozen or logs him out while typing an email which causes him to have to log in again just to type it and he is only allowed 5 log ins a day. I was excited to hear I could communicate with him via this app and emails but the postal service has been far more reliable. The entire month of March I could not send a videogram I reported it several times and even sent emails with no response because despite the video not sending the app ate my 4 stamps. Luckily my husband will be home in a few short months but this app needs some serious work. I really hope the app and kiosk issues are fixed soon, this is already a stressful time for families and wives of incarcerated individuals and no more added stress is necessary.

In the email section there should be an option to save unfinished emails as a draft. This app is terrible it automatically closes!and I will have an email written that has taken me a day to write and it’s very detailed and then boom the app closes !It doesn’t save the email as a draft it just deletes it! I feel like either this is a bug or are you guys should get with the program and do like Securus and allow it to save as a draft. There should be an option when you go to close the app that says are you sure you haven’t sent your message yet save his draft? You should be able to click yes and it’s that simple that way you don’t have to keep rewriting the same email over and over again I get that you guys kind of want it to be a message app as far as like texting kind of goes if that makes sense like an SMS however it’s not it’s an email therefore it should be treated like an email my only complaint other than that the app is great

Bugs and fees. I’m grateful to be able to stay in touch with my loved one who is incarcerated. However- I’ve spent more money through JPay buying stamps and paying $8 fees to send my loved one $50. Pictures use 2 stamps, 30 second video chats use 4, and if you attach pictures to a letter- more stamps to send an attachment in the same email and you can’t attach more than one picture per email. I sent 10 stamps to my loved one and the app deducted the stamps from my balance but never sent them to my loved one. So we were out 10 stamps after I just spent $25. I called customer service and they told me my loved one had to put in a work order ticket and that was back in June. Issue is still not resolved. I’m trying to log in today and the app is crashing and doesn’t remember my log in credentials. They don’t tell you when there are bugs. They want too much info and all JPay is, is a money making scheme. It’s convenient if you want to communicate quickly but I would just recommend sending letters through the mail. I can’t even log in right now and I’ve closed the app and opened it again, turned my phone off and back on. I guess I’ll have to uninstall the app and reinstall it but who wants to have to do that all the time?? Fix your app!!

Not too bad .. could be better though. When I first got this app things were okay with receive time with messages. Took about a hour or two on both ends for messages to be received . Then when the update came it made a major delay on things . Two issues though. You get false alerts saying you have a new message from a love one and won’t receive the message until hours or even a day later, which is unfortunate. Also, I noticed if I send messages or if my loved one sends messages on the weekend they are delayed wayyy tooo long. If he sends me a message on a Friday I won’t received it till Tuesday, which is also unfortunate. But I will say that the send feature is pretty cool makes it easier to send pictures quicker. Just wish there was a better way to receive their messages at the exact time they sent them, it feels better to almost feel like the emails are virtual like texts. Few nitches overall not a bad app..

Bugs bugs bugs. I have been using Jpay for years now! Although I appreciate being able to stay in touch with my loved ones. I DONT appreciate how many bugs and errors I have ran into! Since Jpay is the ONLY way we can message and send pictures quickly its very frustrating that there is always a problem. I have been trying to send pictures for at least 2-3 months now and have been getting nothing but error after error. Even most of my messages haven’t been getting through. Then I call customer service only to hear “They are working on it” or “You just have to keep trying until it works”. It’s understandable that things are not perfect but at the same time it seems like nothing is being done to fix the problem. It’s infuriating that the app basically does not work. Especially after a so called “Update”! With Jpay being the only app the prisons pair with for communication it is unaccounted to be down for so long. PLEASE DO BETTER!!! Not being able to visit in person because of the Covid situation makes Jpay all the more of a necessity!

Terrible!. I’ve been using this app for over 2 years now. The last couple of updates has really ruined things such as the length of time we get our emails. It used to be within 20 minutes now it’s up to 12 hours or more. Also since the newest update I quit getting notifications sent to my Phone. Honestly though, prior to that notifications would be delayed anyway. So in order for me to even see if I have an email I have to go into the app and check it. As much money I’ve spent just on Jpay alone in the last 2 years, it would be nice to have an app that works... the emails sent in a timely manner - which was never a problem until about October/November. Also, reading at past reviews I noticed that a lot of people had issues with their loved ones players not working properly after an update. The same thing happened to my boyfriend and Jpay refused to fix the issue so we ended up buying another one. It’s just a money game. As much money people spend on jpay related things it would be great to utilize that money on making sure your crap works properly.

Location required to view stamps. Just recently, to view the balance of stamps I have, I am now required to turn on my location service. I do not understand why this request is necessary. Also before the above new process I use to see the balance of stamps before I confirmed sending an email. Not anymore. Another family member has this app and is not required to turn on location service before viewing a stamp balance. I no longer receive a notification of a jay-pay email in a timely manner. As example, my nephew sent an email at 11:20pm last night. My notification was received at 6:00 am this morning. I deleted my app to reset maybe, re- added the app and lost data in my old app such as all emails and my stamp balance since I was not able to enter my same password. I had to create a new password. Most other apps I have deleted and re-added still had my information. Before deleting the app I tried to change to another email since I suspected the untimely email notifications were due to them. I received the message that jay pay had my second email. I’m not sure when this happened. I need to know how to correct this. Before my credit card expired and I forgot to change the new expiration date I had no problems with this app and would have rated it 5 stars. I was not able to change my new expiration date until I made another purchase. That was the start of my problems and now I will rate this app a 3.

No good. I’ve been using this app for years since my brother has been incarcerated and for the past couple of months I for some odd reason has not been able to use this app. It doesn’t allow me to log in anymore. I’ve deleted the app and downloaded it again umpteen times and still nothing. It just keeps saying error etc. I’ve called customer service and was told I’ll receive a call back. Never received a call nor email and nothing was ever resolved. However I can log on online, but the app is completely different from the online site and I really just want access to my app because there’s video grams that were sent to me that I can’t view, due to not being able to log in. I’ve tried everything and received no help. I am very highly upset about this.

I have used JPay for years until now 🤨. Now when I click on the app it doesn’t open up. I click on it and it and it opens and closes out right away. Also I send my love one a little tell them about our family, there was no violations of JPay wrote in my letter and it was rejected from giving it to my love one. My stamps were not refunded back to me. JPay you need competition, I think 🤔 I might will make business plan of my own to develop a better app and then pitch it to the government. This way the people will get what they paid for, refund of the virtual stamps that they can only use with my company any time they like to where their is no money refund given, and they would have to pay extra stamps to send a sexy picture with guidelines on how it can be sent to the inmate. Anyway I am full of ideas 💡 on how you can up date this app and made a boatload of money, and every body is happy the customers, and even the locked up inmate from getting nice pictures from their love one. Please fix your app before I give you competition.

Don’t even bother. This app and company is horrendously horrible. If I could rate it negative stars they’d have earned every single negative star. From not getting emails on time, if at all, to the constant crashing while paying exorbitant fees for the services offered, it’s not worth it. Add the fact that every single time that I use the service, I end up with fraudulent charges to my credit card. I utilize the same reputable companies and services so whenever I reach out to my loved ones and utilize JPAY, I always end up with several fraudulent transactions that occur for specific amounts stacked back to back. This is the second time that this has occurred and I will not be utilizing JPay anymore. I highly recommend that you find a different way of contacting your loved ones because this company is extremely problematic for more than one reason. It’s shameful that they don’t help with issues, ignore valid complaints, and feign ignorance of the problems that arise from doing business with them. Utilize this company at your own risk.

Missing Emails and Pictures never received. This app has great potential being one if not the app that offers real time communication and media sharing with friends and family that are away. Recently I have experienced on several occasion where I never received an email, and my loved one never received my email or picture. The first time it happened I resent the email. The email and pictures cost a stamp each and so I used 2-4 stamps to resend the same picture and email and so my account was deducted twice and my loved one only received the email and picture once. This is sad because a lot of people rely on this form of communication with those loved ones. The app is outdated. Doesn’t have a modern feel, I would like the look to be better and more inviting and not like a 3 grader created it. (No offense) The technical issues with the servers crashing should be dealt with in a timely manner and all stamps and emails affected during that crash should be reimbursed to the accounts. When there is a serve crash or overload an courtesy email would be nice so we won’t be wondering what is going on with emails not being received. I do appreciate the availability of this app and convenience of it but it could be a better more integrated app. I hope the developers can adjust, improve and fix those issues quickly. Sincerely a concerned patron and customer.

Garbage. Update: They just put out another update and now my app won’t work at all!! It says I need to update but I did and now it says the app is no longer supported. I go to the App Store and it just says “open”. Ridiculous. Updated review: So they put out an update and for 2 days I started getting notifications again. But now they’re randomly deleting messages from my inbox and outbox. Msgs takes hours to even show up in my outbox as sent and their site says 15 minutes!! I’m done spending money on this app!! With all the profit this company makes off of families you would think they would spend some of it on making decent products that work. Even their tablets are garbage, my bf has his for less than a year and it’s useless. Buttons break, won’t sync, etc. Jpay is a SCAM using predatory business practices to profit from families. Let’s not forget the prisons get a kickback for doing business with them. After the latest update I can’t even log into the app anymore “unable to complete the request at this time” ...I’ve deleted and reinstalled multiple times.

Erase email before it was sent or send the same email multiple times.. There have been many times I have started out writing my letter and either a phone call or someone at the door? But when I come back to it to finish, what I had already typed was cleared or erased to leave me to start over! Very frustrating! When I used to attach a picture when the inmate received it, the picture was so small it was hard to tell! A big waste of double stamps. I recently had the problem of my friend received multiple copies of the same letter Snd yes they took my stamps every time they recent the same email. These emails were 3 & 4 stamps every time! Now I know JPay makes good money already from us with the charges they already have set into place! But for them todo this and you know someone somewhere knows when duplicates are sent out to the same person? I seriously question the integrity of their whole business operation! I’m just one that had issues with them . You can bet there are a lot more! Good luck trying to contact for complaint! Very disappointed, I don’t have money to waist like that!

Not working properly. I love the app and being able to write and send pictures. Over the past several weeks I have had issues with my loved one NOT getting my messages. It says it was sent and I see the, but he is not getting them. He is then writing me and snapping thinking I am not writing. ALL of our messages are out of order. Messages with pictures have taken over a week to get and he has stated he has only gotten 5 of 18 I have sent since MONDAY! This is starting to get out of hand. I now can not send a message because it closes out the app all together when I go to send a message. As much money as I put on here to message, I almost feel like it is a rip off with everything that has been going on with the app and all the “bugs”. If he is not getting the picture messages, then what is the point in wasting a stamp for each one? Had to use 3 stamps to send video because email was not working. Very disappointed and over all the problems and stress it is putting on my relationship.

Ridiculous!!. I used to really love this app because of how convenient it is, being able to just write my loved ones on my phone, send pics, videos and send money..but now? I have no idea what happened. It’s like it’s been updated to be dysfunctional! I no longer get notifications when I get emails, I used to get emails sent to my personal email to let me know I have an email and I don’t get those either. I have to physically go to the app just to know if I have an email. I’ve had emails sent to my personal email saying my photos were rejected, so I sent different photos only for my loved one to tell me that he in fact did receive the ones that were said to be rejected! It takes way longer to receive their emails than it used to and also vice versa. The word count is stupid, the least it can do is tell you how much you have to write before it means that you’re going to need another stamp! Who ever is in charge clearly doesn’t know what it feels like to be close to someone that’s incarcerated.

Desperately need a “read receipts” settings option. I guarantee you’d see a boost in sales with more stamp purchases if you simply added read receipts as an option for all users in settings. It has been so frustrating trying to have a back and forth conversation because each message is screened and can take 5 minutes or 3 days. The user sending the message isn’t sure what’s gone through for certain. Things often are received out of order. Like if I send 3 messages today, the receiver might get the 2nd one first, the 3rd one second, and the 1st one third. The system will correctly put the messages in the correct order that was intended once they all come in, like in the received inbox, after all 3 messages do come through in that 1-3 day period, you’ll see them in the proper order in the inbox which is good, but it makes it impossible to have a fluent and coherent back and forth conversation. Each facility from my understanding has their own screening process, so the only way JPAY could at least try to help with this is add a read receipts option. So I’m just hoping their engineers read this because profit is the name of the game and I’m telling yah, people will buy more if that feature is added. It’s super annoying not knowing what’s gone through and been seen or not. So we’re mostly going back to phone calls after realizing we’re getting upset with eachother over something out of our control.

Very disappointed. I am reporting this company to the Better Business Bureau. I never done this, but this company left me no choice. Along with the others complaints, I share the same issues with JPay app. It’s going to be a month since my husband sent me a videogram, I have yet to receive. I’ve reached out to the customer service through the app,instead of looking into the matter, they provided me with an email and a customer service phone number to resolve my issue. After sending two emails and speaking to customer service my problem has yet to be resolve. What’s more disturbing than this, the employees who were handling my issue were not aware of the features offered through the jpay app. The employees I spoke with didn’t know anything about the videogram. This is ridiculous. This company is not holding up to what they advertise. It pains me to be going through such issue, my children and I look forward to communicating with my husband through this app and with the ongoing issues has it really affected my children. It saddens me to have to tell them no I haven’t received anything from their father. Shame on you for misleading people with your false advertisement and poor customer support, no one should have to go through such thing.

Late messages. My friend has been getting all my messages but I never get his i have only had this for four days an I understand people have to read the messages but they take to long to get to me when he gets every single one of mine. He thinks that I’m not replying to them when I’m just not getting any of them! You need to fix these issues. I don’t get his messages until very late or I don’t know if he’s acing receiving all of my messages. I can’t wait not to use this again. This app is nothing but problems. An you know you can set an algorithm to pick out certain words so then those are the messages you should read not every friggin message it’s too much it takes people to long to get the messages from the people that they love and care about. I have never had such a problem with any app but this one I never wrote the review either and this is the first time. I have very bad anxiety in this honestly doesn’t help me thinking he’s liking my messages he doesn’t care he is just trying to hurt me. I’m off for second chances but this makes it really hard for me.

Notifications. I have used this app and JPay overall for several years. I receive notification about video media is emails but no notification or file in the actual app. I’ve also sent video media and my son has never received it. So I stopped using that feature because it’s a waste of money “stamps”. I can respect that you now show notification that the emails could take up to 3 days although I’ve had some take longer. I can’t complain about much other than what was mentioned. And if it’s the prisons that take their time with reviewing the pictures or emails, 3 days is a bit too much considering it’s electronically done. What would be the reason videos we send are not being delivered? What would be a reason a video from the inmate isn’t delivered? At min, we could receive notification about that instead of email notification that we have a video but none being delivered in the app.

There is always something issue. I don't really write reviews on any app but this app is really getting on my nerves because I have been using this app for almost a year now and I try to communicate with my fiancé every single day outside the 15 minute calls that we are allowed to but for the past 2 month it feels that who ever gets profit from this app they just money hungry we do not receive our massages or videos that we send each other or we write to each other in the morning and get the massage late at night and lets not talk about the video calls we are not able to make no video call for 6 months because the kiosk is broken so they are not able to hear nothing we say and on this side either and if we write to technical support they do not reply back or they never fix the issues and we just end up loosing stamps and never get the massages is really so inconvenient because we are so apart Im in Texas and his all the way to Georgia and all we doing is spending money on something that is supposed to help our love once to communicate with us and their is issues SMH!!!!😡😡

Very unhappy!. I have used JPAY for quite a few years to send mail to my one loved one. It used to work great as others have noted as well....now, it’s a challenge to even get my message sent or received...The app needs serious work-it is horrible. I used to receive notifications, my messages were sent and received quickly and I was able to take care of everything quickly... I have just reinstalled the app to try to get it to work..today I can’t retrieve anything...generally now messages are 3-4 days old, half the time it says it cannot retrieve mail... I have tried to write a message and it says I have too many characters but yet there is nothing written. I’m about fed up but there is no competition so you either use JPAY or you don’t. Please fix notifications-please fix the retrieval for messages, please REWORK the whole app. In today’s world all the tech is available to create so much, yet this continues to be horrible with each update making it worse.

Poor receiving service. JPay is not to be trusted with your time that you think you will receive your mail you will not! Also, it’s only on certain days that you will receive your mail on the same day. But that’s only once or twice out of the week. My boyfriend always mad at me about not writing him back but it’s JPay, the way they send & receive our msgs, although I may not know physically what the issue is, only by what they tell me but I think it’s ludicrous at times & that they should get a better operating system if I’m spending money on here very so more often.. then I would like for my msgs & pictures to be sent on time. JPay is also a banking system because they know we’re going to always want to speak & reach out to our loved ones & Vice versa for the loved ones in the prison system. Just be mindful about that as well, you’ll be better off just mailing out your pictures, & letters vs spending all your money & helping the government take it all & help them with their issues that their not even liable enough to help us in the future!

Extortion, Bugs, and Design Flaws, Oh My!. Just to quickly echo what a lot of the reviews are saying, this app and the company that designed it are out to squeeze you for every nickel and dime you’ve got, and they don’t even bother to fix most of the bugs that plague the app. I use it because unfortunately they have a monopoly on this business model and it’s now a necessary evil for most people who are using it. To add something new to the mix, I want to point out an “intentional” design feature that needs to be removed. When you’re writing an “email” message, and you want to stop while you’re in the middle of writing, the natural instinct, for me at least, was to swipe down from the top of the message window, thinking it would give me the option to save a draft. Unfortunately, no. The “save draft” option only comes up when you tap the “cancel” button at the top left, which is not intuitive at all. So, after writing a very long message that took me over an hour, I accidentally swiped down the message window and poof, >7000 characters gone in a instant with no warning message, and no way to recover it. I’ve never felt the kind of hate for an idiotic design feature as I do right now. In the context of sending important, often difficult messages to loved ones in correctional facility, there should not be a design feature that allows for easy, accidental deletion of your entire message.

Where’s the update?. This app is a joke!!! In the beginning the app was working just fine for me to keep in contact with my fiancé. E-mails and pictures were being sent and received just fine then when it was time to update the app it keeps giving notices saying please update to JPay 19.8 or your previous app will not work properly. I downloaded it the first time and the same message popped up warning me of not working properly then i deleted the app again reinstalled app and even updated my entire phone to the most recent iOS and the app still doesn’t work. Notifications no longer come thru nor am I able to use any of my stamps that I purchased to send anything to my loved one! This app is such a ripoff and a waste of time, and don’t bother calling the 1-800 number because the representatives who answer are so rude and don’t have a care in the world for great customer service. I give this app a two thumbs down I wish I had another set of hands and it be four!!! Horrible service and don’t waste your time or money! Unsatisfied customer...

This WAS a great app!!. I agree with those who have already conveyed their annoyance with the keyboard/counter blocking what you’ve typed, etc. That is SOOO FRUSTRATING to have to jump through all these hoops. And I spent an entire afternoon simply trying to update my credit card expiration date so I could purchase more stamps. Once I was FINALLY able to accomplish both, (but only after being forced to “update” (change) my email address. It’s a good thing I already had a backup email account). Eventually everything appeared to be in order and my account on both my iphone and ipad were synced with the correct information. However, later that evening I attempted to go back to using the mobile app, I get a message on both devices say “Unable to complete the request at this time.”. I checked my device settings; tried closing the apps and turning my devices off and back on, etc. And since someone already said they tried to delete and re-download the app, I guess I won’t even bother. I don’t know what to do at this point, but I would be happy to give a higher rating once these issues are resolved.

To use OR not to use???. I was all excited about this app so I could send my friend pics and movie clips of his daughter, but after reading the reviews; I’m not so sure. Now I’m wondering if my card information would even be safe with this app. It SURE sounds like it has a lot of PROBLEMS that I’m not sure I want to venture into. Something else, yes I’m an “instruction freak,” and I have no idea how to even use this app. I know there was a help page but for gosh sakes you’d have to have a magnifying glass or print it out to even read it and it’s sketchy at best. So I’m kinda on the fence about using this app, but I read someone said they used the website, maybe I should check it out first. Lastly, the reviews offer up that problems are many and have been for a long time, but it doesn’t sound like anyone is in any hurry to make the changes...not good news for an app, not to mention the DEVELOPERS. If i decide to use this app and it works out ok, I may need to change my rating; but at face value; 2 is all I can offer up right at this moment.

Using this app. At times this app works great and the. At times it doesn’t. There’s times when Joay including 2 days ago I sent a message and my loved one responded but I haven’t received the message back and I wasn’t notified or anything I don’t understand why do they keep a communication with the state facility especially when a lot of people put a lot of money on the books some messages get send out too last some don’t make sense my communication of my fiancé is something I keep including when he writes his daughter and his daughter waits for days when it says up to 48 hours which is 2 days it’s been 4 for me and I still haven’t received the messages. Still needs to be fixed. I am truly grateful for this app & it makes it easier to keep in touch & send sentiments to my husband that he can always look to until he can come back home. BUUUUUUTTTTTT... There is a flaw in this app that DRIVES ME MAD!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one who tends to proofread their email before sending... And when doing so, there have been umpteen times when I've been swiping my screen to scroll back to the top & then all of the sudden the WHOLE email swipes completely of the bottom of the screen & DISAPPEARS!!! WWWWWWTTTTTTFFFFFFF!!! Isn't saved to a draft nor is the option given to do so. IT'S JUST GONE GONE GONE!! Which INFURIATES me after I've been writing for 30 minutes or more. Yes, I could stop & copy & save everything every so often... But I really shouldn't have to do that. That shouldn't happen. PLEASE FIX THIS!!! There have been multiple times this has happened & I've had to walk away bc I'm so frustrated. And then I don't send my message. Other than THAT... I don't think it's a bad app. I wouldn't rate it 5 stars bc it's not anywhere near perfect but if you fix this extremely aggravating issue... I could probably bump it to a 4 star.

Used to be a nice app.... I have used this app for many YEARS and it was a convenient way to communicate with my daughter’s father. The messages were received quickly and I could get an almost an instant response most times (if he was on) or at least the same day/within a couple hours (depending on when he checked his messages). There were delays, at times, in either me receiving or him receiving emails, but it was rare. NOW IT IS HORRIBLE!! The last few months and whatever updates were made, it is just bad. Now there is a delay in messages sent and received all the time, sometimes it takes days. I no longer get notifications or emails that I have messages. The only way I know there is an email is to go into the app. I forget to even check the app because I was so used to getting notifications. When I remember to check the app, there are 2-3 emails sometimes and I never got a notification or email that I had messages. I have deleted the app a few times and reinstalled it to see if that helps...no changes. I have contacted support a few times and nothing has been resolved.

login issues. i want to give this app more stars because when it comes down to it, it’s great. i get messages for through preview and all before going to the inmate so it may take awhile and that’s not where my headache comes. my headache comes from this is an amazing way to keep in contact. it’s cheap and fast. BUT i seem to run into issues a lot with not being able to login for a day or so. this time is different, i’ll admit my heart stops a little when i see myself logged off, but usually i’ll just go to the website and read/send my email. i’m not sure what’s going on right now but it’s been days without me being able to login, the website itself seems to be down. yet i keep getting notifications for having unread emails. so what’s going on? is this problem going to be fixed? this could easily be a 4/5 star review but i feel there shouldn’t be constant issues of crashing.

Email glitch is an issue. I’m honestly torn which rating I should give so I’ll go with 3. I love the app. So convenient to keep in touch with my loved ones. Faster than sending letters and easier to keep in touch. With many options to sending 30 second videos with the option of sending stamps to them so they could send one back free of charge for them. Email where you can also send a picture also with the option to send a stamp so they could write back free of charge. Email is where my rating drops down from a solid 5 rating to a 3. When typing an email occasionally my writing space doesn’t expand while I’m writing so I can’t see what I’m typing. I will get out of the app, close the app, and reopen. So frustrating when you don’t know if it’s going to fix itself or not until you write enough to see if it will expand or not. If this issue was fixed PERMANENTLY then I would change my rating to a 5 :)

Outdated and expensive!. This app looks like it’s came out in 2008 or something, and the features aren’t much better. They make sure to find every way to charge you. You can’t send a picture without also paying for an email, so that’s two stamps. When I just want to send a pic why do I have to send an email also. The look of the app is very unappealing and unless you’ve been using it you will probably assume that you got the wrong app cause this one must not be getting updated anymore. Nope, it’s not out of commission it’s just JPay. Considering how much money this company makes, that’s ridiculous. And believe me, the company makes plenty of money. Most of the people in there have a Jplayer loaded with songs and games they paid good money for. And JPay just sticks us with this app that is the most basic functionality app you’ve seen and honestly looks like they designed it in the 80s or something. It’s ridiculous. They also don’t care about anything we complain about, im writing this as a warning to you to not get caught up in the JPay scheme. They will take your money and laugh when you expect to get what you paid for.

JPay and my IPad. Iam total good with JPay it has always worked for me and when needed work it has always been communicated to me the finish product, now this is the first time I have experienced this type of problem when I try and login to my JPay acct. through my icon it’s spends brings up the login in page and vanish , I haven’t been able to work it for several months , I thought it was because I didn’t have any stamps on my acct, which the day I tried to add some it said ERROR AND WOULDNT LET ME PUT ANY ON. I thought it just need to be adjusted by your developers , so I went in through the search and brought the service up and added some stamps, I received a email message saying it had been fixed and I could now use the acct logo , I also changed the password as instructed, and I thought all wa# well , only to be experience the same problem the only fix is it stays on a lil longer than vanish , please help me I am frustrated beyond knowing nothing to do . Thank you in advance, as I know you will take care of what ever the problem is.

Concerned. I am giving the app a 3 star only because I am unsure at this time. I downloaded the app so I am able to email back and forth with very close family friend. Also my oldest son was talking about JPay today, that he needed to get it all taken care of to also have communication with our friend. So I downloaded the app to give my son a heads up and what he would need to do. After downloading, I decided to read all of the reviews. Out of maybe 25 that I read, which were most recent, I only seen 2 maybe that gave a 4 or 5 star saying only a couple words about the app. All of the others are very disappointing to read. So now I don't know if I actually want to go thru all of the trouble. And am going to let my son know not to bother right now. This was supposed to be this amazing new technology way of communicating with our loved ones and helping with money in a much easier and quicker way. And what is really sad is that our loved ones, reguardless of their reason being there do not have much to look forward to. Day after day is the exact same routine most of the time. What they can look forward to is contact with family and friends. So for now, sadly, I will not open the app and add a profile.

Love to hate it recently. So the app is very convenient for staying in touch with my loved one who is incarcerated and I’m grateful for that opportunity to easier communicate with them but the recent update seems like it has taken a couple steps back from when I previously had it downloaded on my old phone. My software is updated to the latest Apple 13.0 version and I have gotten a new phone and since downloading half of the app doesn’t work or display what it use too, I’m wasting stamps trying to send pictures more than once and have yet to be successful with getting them delivered to my loved one via the app, on top of that the option to add more stamps and a card doesn’t pop up on my application anymore either. I’ve wasted a good amount of stamps sending almost empty emails because the attached files don’t stick when sending even though they pop up when I first am composing the email. It’s just frustrating since I’m on my last stamps and haven’t yet figured out how to get everything to pop back up like it did on my old phone, should I delete the app and try downloading again? As much as it’s not working I’d hate to get rid of it because the actual email part works well enough to keep in touch with them.

Missing or late. When I first started using JPay, this app was awesome! As long as my emails were sent by 9:30 a.m they were received by 4:00 p.m that same day, if not, they were received the next day! Now with all the updates, and updates to the kiosk, i have emails and pictures that were sent on 10/8, 10/11, and 10/15 that have still not been received!!! I’ve contacted JPay, who states they sent them, I’ve contacted the Correctional Center who states they have 5 business dates to get them in and out. I contacted Constituent Services because it’s clearly been way longer than that. I again contacted the mail room manager who stated they received stuff from JPay that was 2 weeks old, and that they had also gone through and manually released a bunch of photos and letters, because they were marked censored in error, and yet still, they only had one of those 3 pictures. I was told that due to the new system, it ultimately convenient, but ALOT slower, and that if I wished for my fiancé to receive pictures/letters, that I should probably send everything snail mail, because ultimately, it’s cheaper in the long run, because they actually receive their mail, and in a timely fashion. Glad we only have a few months left of this!

Update: ADOBE FLASH PLAYER IS BEING DROPPED BY MANY PLATFORMS. No way I give this a 5 star, but I’m making up. So many people’s complaints are all do to the prison. “It took so long! Or they didn’t get it” The time and discretion is up to the prison staff! Sure this thing has bugs sometimes but so do most apps. And yes, crap on the charges, but they’re nothing compared to phone bills. And seriously, if you don’t like it, use a pen and paper. Run to the post office and buy stamps. Wait weeks...... No? I didn’t think so. Update: Video visit is outdated. They will need to redo their whole method of video visit because Adobe flash is on the way out; “ ADOBE FLASH SUPPORT IS ENDING! Google has announced that they will remove Flash completely from Chrome and Chrome OS by the end of 2020. The deprecation of Flash has been in the works for quite some time, and changes are happening now that will affect Flash use on district Chromebooks. For example, several months ago SWF video files stopped working on Chromebooks. Google has stated that this is the first kind of Flash that has been deprecated. Google will slowly deprecate Flash in the coming versions of Chrome OS and Chrome browser so we cannot expect everything to stay the same until December 2020.”

App needs work. I have been using the JPay App for a few months now to communicate with my loved one and I find it very invasive. They want to track your location for every little thing. For example, you have to allow the app to see your location just to view how many stamps you have left. I agree with the person who left the January 5th review stating that visually the app needs major work. Most of the time I just use the JPay website. There are times I have wanted to send just one picture to my loved one but JPay requires you to write something in the email also just to get another stamp out of you. I do not like that every single picture cost a stamp so if you have multiples 10 stamps can be gone within just one day including a letter. I absolutely think they need to improve the type of pictures you can upload. Right now there are only 2 photo format types that the site/app accepts and if you don’t know how to convert a picture type then you are out of luck. The fees to send money are RIDICULOUS! I paid $8.00 just to send $50. I avoid using JPay as much as possible because the app needs major work and it is a money guzzler. You are better off sending your loved letters and pictures through the mail. At least when the JPay site goes down they can still view their pictures and letters because as the other reviewer stated JPay will not send the users ANY kind of communication when the app has issues. Honestly I probably will be deleting the app sooner than later.

App has many issues. This app always crash and have errors. I always have to go online just to see how many stamps I have. I have to keep deleting the app and down loading it to open incoming mail. Pictures can’t upload. Videos take too many stamps just for a 30 second video. This app will take all your money. I think I’ll stick to just using your normal postal service. I appreciate the JPay sending money portion. When the app works, sending emails is good but that’s just the thing, the app always have issues. Maybe it would be nice if the videos could be 1 minute. So we can get our money worth. Since they say this is to reconnect families . Is it really? Or is it to monopolize off of these inmates and their families. Yes they are prisoners and them getting videos are a privilege but now your punishing the family members because you gave them this new shiny toy and they expect their family members to help them be able to use it. So now that’s another expense for us already drained family members. It was better when the prison system used to allow them to have pictures and magazines and newspapers. I always wondered why that stopped. But I guess that’s just one more thing we have to figure out like them visitor bathrooms having no soap, paper towels and sometimes no toilet paper. I’m just saying

I am really very unhappy with this application, I uninstalled it more than 3 times and reinstalled and still it asks me to update the app because it is not working well, and when I enter my App Store it does not ask me for an update, now that I do it now that for me it is urgent to use this application The worst application I have seen in my whole life and I still use it for my brother but it is very unpleasant to be spending money on an application that steals your money messages arrive when they feel like it sometimes they do not arrive and still charge them Right now the application demands that I have to update for the new version and my phone is an iPhone XR and is not giving me the option to update now I ask the developer of this application How the heck will I be able to update the application then It is a painful application, one uses it because you need to communicate with the family member, 10 messages arrive 4 so repeat the same words you call them and the operators do not know what explanation to give you, in my case I have been trying to talk with the user for a month supervisor, the man seems to not like his job very much because if he is not in a meeting, he had to leave, it seems to me a robbery and a huge disrespect

Download and report bugs and be patient. This is a great way to stay in touch with your loved ones who are locked up! This is the best way to stay in touch!! If you find a bug then just report it and be patient because they will fix it! Don’t just give up on your loved ones and not download it or not continue to message them! This is the worst feeling ever to hear from your loved ones “it’s too much trouble, I’m sorry but I am not wasting my time!” Wow that’s a gut wrencher!!! Just be patient and when there is a problem report it to the app!!!! AND THEY WILL FIX IT!!!! And I gave this 4 stars because it’s a great app but it does have a lot do problems but they do always get fix!! Download this app it is worth it please and your loved ones will feel so important whether they tell you that’s how it makes them feel or not , trust me!!!!!! Go ahead and do it!!!!!!

Life Line. I love what this app is about. Does it have some imperfections? Yes but what app doesn’t. There is not one app that is flawless. My experience has been amazing. My fiancé’s son and I have continued to build an amazing relationship through this app. This app is our life line to each other. I love that I can send him funds through this app because it’s simple and easy. I appreciate when I need to send a quick message I can and I don’t have to worry about life being so busy that I don’t get to send a hand written letter as often as I want. When I hear “my son” express how much he can make it through each day through our communication it warms my heart. I know as tile continues to go on this app will improve. Until it does I thank you for doing something to keep us families connected. Be bless

Bring back notification sounds. One of the (former) great benefits of the app is it would send a notification sound when an email from a loved one arrived. Since the last iOS update the sound notification feature is gone. I know it’s the app because I’ve tried everything from deleting and reinstalling the app, restarting my phone multiple times. This feature is vital for communicating with loved ones whose only option is to write and receive messages from the kiosk. Inmates are allowed two log-ins per day for 20 minutes each. When I receive a prompt notification I can respond while he’s still sitting at the kiosk. Please fix this problem. Alternatively you could respond promptly and efficiently when an inmate submits a ticket explaining that their tablet is not usable because it won’t sync. Help them get the help they need to have a functioning tablet!! For these men and women, email is a crucial lifeline to their loved ones in the outside world.

Error receiving & sending emails and videos. This is a really excellent way to keep in touch with our love ones, that’s locked away. I’ve been using this app for 3 months now and had no issues whatsoever until yesterday I tried sending my Husband a email and it didn’t go through, I’ve uninstalled the app overnight and installed it back and it’s still not working. I’m very grateful that he called me this morning because I know he was worried about me and our family. We talk every day until yesterday I couldn’t send him anything and he sent me a message but I couldn’t respond back, then I was able to send out one message this morning, was happy it went through but when I tried to send him another email it wouldn’t let me. Also it’s loading extremely slow and it had never done that. Please get this issue fixed so I can communicate with my husband.

😡😡. JPAY IS RIDICULOUS! Jpay was working fine when I first started using it but for the last month or so it haven’t been working! I don’t understand how you can speak to your loved one when the app does not even work correctly! Messages come back days later after you thought your loved one just was ignoring you or something happen at the facility! Our messages being delivered 3times and taking 3stamps for the same 1 message you already said! I tried resetting my phone thinking it was my device, I tried reinstalling the app nothing change, I tried to update the app thats not even a option! I just don’t understand this it feel like it’s a scam because it’s not doing anything but taking customer’s money for stamps and people are barely getting in contact with they loved ones! It’s very upsetting because why you guys taking people money if this app is not working correctly! I rather write the facility & get in contact that way! It’s cheaper in better least you know your loved one will receive his stuff! Then you guys customer service are very poorly! Never can get in contact with you guys! You have to email josh but never get a email back! This is very inconvenient for a customer!

Fix your app. This is not fair on family’s. Well this all started out with a phone call from my son asking me if I could send him $25 well yes I can I told my son and then I got on the app and I have tried everything to try and send him $25 so he can get what he needs as a frustrated mother is going through torment her son is in prison I feel like I’m in prison to because of this app your app will not take any of my bank cards or a prepaid stamp card nothing and I have been trying for three days to send him money all I get is loading loading loading loading loading loading and it scrolls just like that loading loading loading loading loading goes on for a half hour each time I try you need to fix your app this is the only way that we can communicate with our loved ones do you understand this or do you just not care I don’t understand it and there’s no phone call when we could actually phone you call you and ask you if you can add the money for us I can’t find a phone number anywhere so yes I am very frustrated and that’s why I only gave you one star 60 app and I’ll change it thank you sincerely very frustrated mother

Horrible Service. This service is down constantly. There are constant service interruptions that they freely admit in emails they send saying they’ve corrected problems. The service is so bad that you can’t tell the difference between when there are problems and when there aren’t. This company has near non-existent customer service, the phone rings into oblivion and no one answers. After approximately 10 minutes of the phone ringing, someone has answered twice. Both times I was told they could not fix my issue. If this company wasn’t serving people society considers to be throw-always, this business would not exist due to their poor infrastructure and technological inability to keep up with the services they offer up to the public. They refuse to put money into the service in order to improve reliability. They know no one is going to hold them accountable due to the population they serve so they provide trash service, just enough to keep lawsuits from being filed for complete lack of service. They were already sued for unfair practices regarding switching out tablets and lost. They will take advantage every single time and every single place they can get away with it. This company is unreliable, unethical, and just plain unscrupulous.

Australian here as well again!!. Terrible app! Wish I could give it ZERO stars!!! The company clearly only care about making money which is highlighted in their EXORBITANT fees they charge!! There looks to be quite a lot of us Aussies using the app so there should also been an option to view prices in AUD... or any other currency from around the world actually!! Even installing the latest versions (which there seems to be a new one each week 🙄) the app still glitches and cuts out etc!! There also needs to be an option so you KNOW 100% that your mail has been delivered and or printed out and your inmate has gotten it!

Australian User. I read a few terrible reviews before updating and I have to agree with some and disagree with others. I’m from Australia and had a few issues with my card. If I want to buy/transfer stamps I have to do it online. I receive messages fine and since updating my app doesn’t force close which is good. I don’t have the option to edit photos before sending.

Grateful. This system allows us to stay in contact with our incarcerated loved ones in almost real time. Even a glimpse of their lives in there which you can take positively or negatively depending on who you are. Personally I am thankful I get to talk to my loved one regularly They are human too and deserve love. It makes their time easier to cope and reduces abuse and violence within the system. Thank you jpay!

Aussie user. I haven’t had ANY issues receiving or sending mail, photos or videos, I do agree that price should be able to be displayed in several currencies but it is what it is. Will the jpay app disappear when securus takes over? I can’t get an account with them because I’m an Aussie so this would be really upsetting.

Stamps.... I am also from Australia And struggled for days to buy stamps! Kept saying it failed when there was nothing wrong with my card Then it finally let me buy stamps after the millionth time but by using the JPay website :( Got told I had to update but there was no such option

Seriously how about letting non US resident know about the real costs of things before we are charged up to 20$ more for being outside the US and same being double charged for stamps id give it no stars set some terms about wht the actual cost of things are for us, not take and then let ppl find out later on their bank statements.

Awesome. I have had no problems buying stamps or sending and receiving video grams. I don’t know what everyone else is talking about, but I’ve been using JPay for a year now, with not 1 problem.

So excited for this app. Well done, Jpay! The new app has email! Thank god! There are a couple of features not available (yet) but I am still super impressed with how easy this app is to use and the convenience of it!

Lol. Literal trash. And you PAY TO SPEAK TO LOVED ONES. It’s not like it’s free and they can’t afford quality software designers but here we are. It kicks you out constantly. You have to actually delete and download it again for any update. What do you actually do with our money? Profit. All profit. Use people at their lowest points for gain. That’s the American dream!

Unreliable. Constant outages, inability to login, issues purchasing stamps and attaching images, delayed or repeated mail notifications ... the list goes on. Seems like a very unprofessional outfit managed by under-qualified staff. It’s a shame, because the idea is great.

this is ridiculous. THIS APP IS ATROCIOUS! after trying to send 1 email has taken 45 minutes just on a loading sigh I cannot delete drafts , photos ect because the app will be stuck on a loading sigh absolutely unacceptable!!!!!!

Not recommending this service. The video visits don’t work at Coyote Ridge Wa JPay don’t credit another visit when this happens, it’s impossible to get through on the phone, the wait times on hold are ridiculous. They need to fix what’s broken & STOP charging people for a service they aren’t getting!! FED UP!!!

Problem after problem. The amount of problems I’m having with this app is ridiculous! It’s the only way I can talk to my man atm & I spend so much damn no on stamps etc I expect it to run smoothly! Now I can’t get into the app this happens every second day I’m over it fix it!

Australian user here!. The easiest way to communicate with a loved one incarcerated in America, it states on the website that emails will not be sent Afterhours and on weekends but I’ve never had a problem with it. My card works to purchase stamps, media and what not! Sometimes it’s frustrating when emails don’t get sent within 10-15 minutes but it’s better than waiting 6 weeks for mail to come through AusPost. :) so quit whinging.

So Bad. Just so so bad.. Utterly appalling. The app is so bad it is basically unusable. It wont log me in for hours or days at a time. It randomly freezes. It sends emails in a scrambled order. JPay is making a fortune off a dismal (at best) service.

Great when it works. Currently having continuous problems with trying to send funds. App won’t remember my debit card details or error message ‘Try again later’. Have latest vs. support is non existent.

Terrible service. The service offered by jpay is atrocious. After reporting numerous problems over the course of 5 years I have only ever received one reply from customer service which was useless. I’ve had issues sending photos, and mail and the glitches are never properly rectified. I receive notifications of mail when there is nothing in the inbox. This company is making a fortune off its customers and not providing an adequate service.

App and site not working. App and site are not working. Been trying for ages

Unreliable. Very glitchy app. Can’t sign into my account via the app. Can sign in via internet explorer. Have been trying to log in for 5 hours. Have deleted and re installed app and still not letting me sign in.

Difficult. This is frustrating...I cannot contact my friend until I update but there are no updates available. I can’t buy stamps, send messages, anything. I’m also in Australia...

Hit and miss but grateful for this app. Usually works but when it doesn’t it’s devastating! Usually can be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling app but doesn’t work every time. Glad I can use Jpay to communicate though!

Email issues. Some emails I send are not received by the inmate but it’s unclear why. No follow-up and I only know because he says he hasn’t received them. Please fix as it costs money and is very frustrating Need to add a read-receipt to emails

Payments. It won’t let me buy any stamps i live in Australia and keep putting my credit card details in correctly but it keeps saying it’s invalid. But my card works on other apps

Terrible. If I could give it less than one star I would. It barely ever works. Things don’t load and the app always crashes. Reports get sent to them and they never reply or do anything about it. The only time it doesn’t have a problem loading is when you buy stamps and they take your money. Go figure that’s the only time the app wants to work. Ridiculous.

Lost all emails. Since last update, all of the emails I sent and received disappeared. Only the first lines are still there, but the main part of what has been written is gone. Very disapointing

I can’t ..... I cannot get my profile done. Canada auto comes up as Alberta with no option for Ontario so this is useless until that gets fixed.

Loved it before the recent update. Messages don’t go through fast anymore, messing up the messaging and wasting stamps, hopefully it gets fixed ... it was better before the update happened

Annoyed. My videos aren’t loading anymore i dont know why

Glitchy but better than snail mail. People are grumpy because it’s glitchy. Yes. It is fairly glitchy. Which can be frustrating. But it is totally functional. I thank my lucky stars that I get to talk to my friend multiple times a week rather than once every 2-3 weeks, and that I can go back and read what I wrote so we can keep on track with our conversations. I like and appreciate this app a lot. I hope for continued improvements, of course. But I’m happy that this technology is available at all.

App crashes. Doesnt log in, even the website has issues logging in. Cant access emails which we pay for...

No reply. I’ve sent 3 emails one in Jan. One in February and one in March. I have yet to get a reply All I get are notices that say update jpay I have the 1904 update This app or something isn’t working?

I love it!. The app send me late notifications to told me that i've received a message (already have opened them) but except that little bug, it goes well! I can send pictures and mails. No problem with stamps or connection. I like it. Thank you!

Works super well !. I don’t know why people have such bad experiences with this App … it works perfectly fine . I keep contact daily with my innate . I send pictures and video gram easily . I receive and send messages without a problem . Definitely a must have to stay in touch .

Emails missing and crashes. JPay is super glitchy. It crashes when writing emails and doesn’t ‘auto save drafts’. I had 28 sent and received emails and now I have 23 and he has 21. I have this app set up for badge notifications and it NEVER works. I get email notifications that say I have incoming mail that never arrives. It keeps prompting me to update the app and that my version isn’t supported, but there is no other version????!!! I’ve deleted and redownloaded it three times. Ulg. This app is frustrating.

Worst App ever. Horrible app doesn’t let you proceed to the next step

Constant frustration. I haven’t been able to log in using the app for almost a year now. It just says to try again later. So I log in on my laptop but I can’t video gram from there as there’s no option to. I’ve email customer support twice and not received actual help on the issues. No response at all to the last email. For me the app is useless.

Never worked. I’m never able to connect. I send tge report to Jpay and they never replies. Poor app Still to this day, they did NOTHING to help!

Junk of a app. Crashes , doesn’t take payment . Errors , times out. Useless app. Says to update, but there is no update available in App Store.

Email history chopped off at the knees. App works ok for. me, other than saving a draft. As long as I don't accidentally close my partially written email stays put. Fixing that would be nice. A bit pricy but way better than physical stamps.

Fix videograms.. The videograms aren’t loading and I cant view old ones. When I refresh I see duplicates. I cant see old videos

Waste of my money. I agree with all these negative reviewers. I’ve received 3 notifications I have new messages over the last 2 days and I still have no messages to read from my loved one. And now my messages are disappearing. With today’s technology, this is what we have!!!

Buggy app. I correspond with a penpal via this app. I don’t even know the person very well, and the app calls him “my loved one”, I mean I feel sympathy, but “love” would be a little too much. The notifications in the app are extremely delayed, both the pop ups and the emails sent to my address, I often receive a notification 2-3 hours AFTER I have read a new message, and, obviously, there are no new messages. One of my emails got rejected, but I received no notification or explanation, JPay just ate the pennies. In fact, the notification was sent to my penpal, so it took us a while to figure out what email was rejected as if it is a state secret. Can’t you just make things easier? I also don’t like that old emails disappear in the app, and are only available in the web version. You also can’t copy text from any previous emails in the app. You’d think it is such a basic function.

Not bad. So far enjoying. Not bad. Photos don’t seem to send fast at all but I only had it for a couple days now. Fix that bug maybe.

App crashes when I try to buy stamps. I’ve received one email but I can’t reply because every time I try to buy stamps, the app just crashes and shuts down. So disappointing.

Slow app. I got an email last night at 3:15 am that an inmate has sent me an email. 12 hours laster the email has still not shown up on the app. Seems I’ve had other missing emails which I was charged for. Disappointing slow system! Rip off.

Issues with JPay. JPay needs to fix up cuz they are so many issues I have with this app daily like it’s ridiculous. I can’t see emails I’m getting ,can’t send messages at certain times and the list goes on those are just my top 2 problems and they never respond when you report a problem so unprofessional smh

Horrible!. They deny pictures all the time but I’ve never had an issue mailing them. Jpay will tell you it’s the facility and the facility will tell you it’s jpay.

All they list is Alberta, cause they see Canadians living in Igloos and having only one province. late/missing emails/pictures and false notifications. it takes days to get and receive emails. it takes on average 3 days and sometimes longer especially for the ones that cost 2 stamps. i also get notifications that i have new messages and when i check there is nothing. called customer service and they can’t do anything. i’ve had to send pictures several times and emails costing me stamps each time but they were never received or received in the 3rd or 4th try. that means i’m paying 3 to 4 times the cost and never get refunded. also the emails are received out of order. some are sent the next day but then the inmate or myself will get one that is 5-7 days old. it’s ridiculous. it usually takes less time to send mail via the post office and they can’t read outgoing mail from prison that way but can read everything on jpay. what’s the point if the system is slow or i have to pay multiple stamps to keep resending the emails and pictures. also equipment is cheap and it takes forever to get even a charger replaced. not happy at all with this app or the jpay customer service. once u pay for the tablet they no longer care about the problems associated with the functions. wish there was an alternative company to use.

Zero stars awful app. Awful, unreliable, slow and too expensive. CorrLinks is much cheaper and works much faster. This app needs serious help. An email should not take hours to go through. There are times when snail mail is faster. I’d of given it 0 stars if you could rate it that way. I bought stamps which are too expensive to begin with. I bought 120 stamps but was charged for an additional 60 stamps which I did not receive. The only reason I’d ever use this app is because I have no other choice. Stamps are $10 for 60. Ridiculous making an email cost .16 and CorrLinks which some prisons have is .05. Not a good app at all. This is the absolute worse app and they don’t care. You can complain and they do nothing. Never got a refund on the stamps I never received and they gave me extra stamps to pay me back for the money they took. Sorry excuse for an app. The notifications come long after the email has been read. Customer service is awful!!!! Shame on JPay! I’d give you a -10 points if I could.

PITIFUL. This is the worst most horrible excuse for a phone service or money transfer service I still cannot login to the darn thing. This is a joke you can’t get a hold of anyone you can’t login to the stupid thing so I wouldn’t know how the service really is or how much it cost even because I can’t get into the darn thing I’ve tried creating three different accounts and I still cannot get logged in this is a Mickey Mouse hoax of a worthless waste of time money and energy and I’m the most frustrated I’ve ever seen never seen anything like this in my life I can’t believe that people would continue to get screwed over like they’re getting from this service. As good as Securus phone service is I cannot believe that they allow JPay to even consider treating people like this it really is making me think twice about the Securus company sincerely yours Un Satisfied And

No notifications. I understand that for others receiving communication from a LO is not your priority but why has this latest “update” made time between notifying emails soooo much longer & done away with in app notifications all together? I know when my husband writes home, he’s only allowed to do so twice a week at the moment. I will check the app an hour after this rec is over, see & read that email. I have yet to get an emailed notification to my private service that I have his JPay & have not gotten a single notification since your update to the application. I have other LOs locked up & they have more freedom so it will be DAYS, 56 hours for one, before I have an email that he wrote me, or I find his when I look for my husbands’. Your application update, did nothing to improve your service. I hope it is fixed this decade.

Update!. After the update anytime I try to send a message the app shuts down. This is ridiculous! Fix your app! Update my email is now blacked out when I can get logged in. Also asking me to update the app to log in when the app is up to date. So it’s hit or miss with being able to log in and when I do I can’t respond for my family because the app just force closes! Look people it’s not hard to actually care! You are hurting people and their families! I still can not send anything through the app! Anytime I get done writing a message and hit send the app force closes and my email is not sent! Fix the problem people! You make more than enough to hire an IT person that could have the issue fixed in minutes! You are basically just scamming people out of their money and now their family and friends that are incarcerated think no one cares about them because people can’t send messages! You are ruining people’s lives and getting rich doing it!

I wish i could give no stars. This app is ridiculous for these high fees J-pay charges is ridiculous playing off of people being desperate to stay in touch with loved ones. The fees are so over priced and on top of that the app never works ive sent a total of 9 pics most I had to pay 2 stamps which is crazy and only 3 were delivered and yet i was charged. i was sent 1 video never received but stamps deducted and a picture i never received but stamps deducted customer service is a waste of time completely there really needs to be a better way than this to communicate with family incarcerated for these extravagant fees this app should work a whole lot better than this. Securis app is better but still so expensive for no good service and when the call volume is high they just say they are doing maintenance or something no your just screwed pretty much. these fees should be regulated but i guess no one cares because they are just inmates not humans. I hate it here

Absolute TRASH. No stars! A basic EMAIL service that charges fees AND constantly crashes??? It is simply unacceptable in 2021. This company takes advantage of the need to talk to and communicate with loved ones...PERIOD! It’s ok if you want your business model to be a soul sucking financial drain on people in need but you could at least make the quality of your product of the lowest bar. I have to download “bug fixes” at least once a week (I have an iPhone 12) and then this absolutely worthless EMAIL service STILL doesn’t work most of the time. And you charge for “STAMPS”! STAMPS REALLY??? When did you become the post office??? No offense to the post office because even THEY have better service and quality than JPAY. I pray to the universe that someone or some company comes along with a service that actually WORKS so this EMAIL service can crawl back to the depths from which it came....

Won’t let me log in. I have an account set up through the website, but for some reason when I try to log in to the app, it will not let me. It says “ERROR: Unable to complete the request at this time” My phone, service, iOS, and applications are completely up to date. I tried setting up another account with a different email address, through the app rather than the website, thinking that might be the issue, but received the same results. I contacted Jpay customer service who told me that my account is active, and suggested that I contact my service provider. I tried to explain that this doesn’t have anything to do with my service provider, and there is nothing they can do to fix a glitch in this application. The customer service representative said she “doesn’t know what to tell me”, and ended the call.

Solid app, with a few hiccups. For the most part, everything works great. There are a few inconveniences that I think have more to do with correctional facility policies than the JPay app/developers, but on the app sode there are a few things holding it back. One, iOS13 introduced Dark Mode, which renders the app more or less unusable. And the notification system appears to be broken. There is a delay for mail notifications (I’ll notice the new message manually checking messages) so you end up getting repetetive phantom notifications several times after you’ve in all likelihood already read the new message. But it still gets three stars for how easily it lets me stay in touch with loved ones and maintain those inportant bonds. Thanks, guys, and haply holidays 💜

JPay is terrible now... When I first started using JPay about 4 months ago it was great, my pictures emails and videos would send to my boyfriend immediately, no problem sending money either. Then within the past two months there has been constant problems. If I send more than one picture a day only one will send, he doesn’t receive any on my videos. My emails never send with the attachment. The $$ is the biggest issue. My card gets declined every two week. I don’t send money or buy stamps too often. I call the customer service and their phone staff is awful!!! No help. They tell me to call back in 24 hours and then my card will work, I call it still won’t work, they say call in 72 hours and I’ll wait, still doesn’t work. I wasn’t able to send my boyfriend any pictures of videos for his birthday. It’s so annoying having my card stop working after using it one after they fix it. And wasting so much money on stamps cause he don’t get half the pictures or any of the videos.

Mediocre. In the beginning I thought it was a decent app, and very user friendly. After being told I would be refunded for a payment FIVE MONTHS ago and never receiving it and having to call in to customer service and email them multiple times… it’s bull. I also sent a tablet to my loved one and they “lost” it and still have not found it but they did finally send him a replacement one but I had to pay that one as well and to top it off, that took like 5 calls and 3 emails to customer support to even get handled a whole 2 months later. I wouldn’t recommend the app, or the website itself, but it’s one of the few ways offered at many facilities that allow us to communicate at all with our loved ones whom are incarcerated. So although I don’t care for it, I’ll use it for the time being.

Major barriers!. The services that this program provides sound like they are great, but the app fails to deliver them. On a personal note, my dad has a traumatic brain injury and doesn’t know how to use a computer. His father has been locked up for years and my dad has been dying to contact him on demand. The simplest way to do it is supposed to be through this app. I don’t know if the place that runs the program is closed on weekends, but I can’t even buy stamps to let him even send a simple photo without getting an error message about making purchases. The menus’ text can’t even be seen, so you’ll have to guess what button to press, everything seems to be the same way on whichever IOS device you have (For example, I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and my dad has an iPhone 6, and the same issues appear.), and as a hunch, this app must not have been updated in a while. Because in order to have a 2 star rating and so much negative feedback, those who run it might not be able to, or doesn’t even care to fix the problems. That is called poor customer service. I do hope that the issues do get fixed so that this app can be what it’s made to be, and so that I can buy those stamps for my dad to contact and send digital media and messages to my grandfather and keep him at ease.

The WORST. I use the app sparely as the people I’m in contact with are distant friends. I touch base maybe once or twice a month. But I’ve watch this app over the last year go from bad to what in the world. I’m an IT professional (technical business systems analyst) and I have zero clue who is testing these requirements or giving the okay to go live with the updates. Prime example, the latest updated should have failed. The user can not reply to an message or send a message as the application shuts down and turns. I’ve uninstalled the application twice and it has done the same thing. Below are my steps so you can recreate the bug if you like: Unable to reply to a message Environment: Device: iPhone XMax OS - iOS 13.1 JPay version - 19.9 Steps to reproduce: 1. Click on application icon 2. Enter email and password 3. Click login 4. Home screen loads 5. Click mail 6. Select a message to reply 7. Click the reply icon in the bottom right corner Expected result: 1. New window email message window should appear 2. User should have the ability to type a free form message reply to the original messenger Actual result: 1. Application close 2. No warn message is received and user is returned to the Apple home screen. Hope this helps.

Tired of JPay taking my money. I'm so tired of JPay taking the money that we put it to talk to our love ones . I have been using JPay for 2 years and it just keeps getting worse I can not see my husbands emails or video grams it takes our stamps we pay every time for this and there is no fixing this is a very annoying thing I want to be able to talk to my husband and receive his emails . I bought the tablet and he can't even order his media or games because the 2 times he has tried it has just token the money it says that they are going to credit money back in account and still it's. Been more than a month . !!!!!

It needs to be better. I agree with many of the other reviewers regarding the cost is stamps, having to include a message when sending pictures, app crashing- causing you to uninstall and reinstall the app only for it to work, as well as emails not being received. Recently I emailed customer service and have yet to receive a reply. I sent my loved one pictures and a video and he never received them, I tried to resend the video message but JPay doesn’t allow that. It was disheartening because the video was recorded at a family gathering- many of who my loved one hasn’t seen in years, now I don’t know when we will all be able to get together again to send my loved one a video greeting. JPAY would be great if the issues so many people are experiencing would be resolved.

Mediocre performance!. I have experienced the same issues most people write about. I recognize that prison staff are frequently responsible for delaying email delivery. But the functionality of this app is a different matter. All apps need occasional updates. However this app is full of small bugs. Nevertheless it is functional and it’s our only choice. I have just had to delete the app and download it again. This makes the third time in as many months. It freezes and cannot connect. After the re-install it will work fine for awhile. When my phone goes to “dark mode “ the app does not adjust like other apps and I am unable to see the reply I send so I have to go to settings and manually go back to “light mode “ temporarily. I have brought this to jpay’s attention already but as many of you know, jpay doesn’t respond to such complaints and instead just promises to look into them. But other than these irritations, it seems to work fairly well. Too bad our prisons don’t also.

BEWARE, JPAY IS FRAUD!!!. BEWARE!! This app is fraud. The system cheated me out of 3 different transactions saying *error to my payment each time finally saying sent on the 3rd try just for me to go to my bank account and see that even tho the screen displayed *error receiving 2/3 payments my card was still charged 3X. I called JPay and it took a whole week of constant calls to them (getting hung up on, lied to, and spun in circles) I finally received 1/3 payments debited. Now that I’m trying to call back to discuss the second payment I find myself to be blocked and unable to reach anyone via phone and you already know they’re not responding to my emails either. They first made it seem like the glitch in their system was being worked on just to realize I’m not the only one that has been scammed by them. Very dissatisfied! It is NOT okay to take advantage of people like we don’t all work hard for our money.

Amazingly Terrible. JPay is literally the worst app I have ever used in my entire life. It amazes me that they overcharge for everything but still can’t find enough money to hire even average App Developers to create a decent amount of functionality and modern appeal on this app. As of the last two weeks, after the most recent update, the stupid thing won’t even open at all. & The fact that they haven’t noticed and fixed that issue in that time is a testament to how much of Scam JPAY is. When it does work (rarely), the technology is basic and looks 20 years old and functions are unnecessarily limited. They are literally charging ridiculous amounts of money for services that would normally be free under any other circumstances and aren’t even using some of the money to at least provide a decent platform.

Embarrassing. The app doesn’t work. I have been trying to email my childhood friend and it continuously says that there is an error that it’s unable to retrieve stamp packages. It’s been weeks. Every time I try to send him money it gets refunded to me. What’s going on? When I look up JPay online I see hundreds of other people with the same issue, and even media coverage for it. I guess I’ll keep writing handwritten letters. EDIT: It gets worse! After finally being able to contact my friend through JPay, we have messages go missing/take over 24-48 hrs to arrive. What a joke. It’s sad that each letter you send costs money, to then mysteriously disappears for days, or even weeks. Someone should come up with a more reliable means of communication, because clearly JPay isn’t it. I wish I could give this app 0 stars because that’s what it deserves. What a waste.

Disappointed. I’m going back to the old ways of communicating with my love one, This company uses us and does NOT seem to care that the app is Bs!! I’m not receiving my emails nor are my emails are being sent out. I’m spending unnecessary money on stamps because when I send a message they take stamps for that and when my love one calls and say why haven’t you wrote me back in 3 days I say yes I have I’ve been waiting on your reply, for them to say I never got the message is horrible because now I have to use more stamps that could’ve been saved if the app worked properly. I don’t recommend anyone using this app, Yes it’s great because you can reach out to your love one right away but jpay uses that too their advantage because they know this is our only way of communication that’s fast. But I’m back to Global Tel and Pen and paper atleast the mail man get my letters to my love one on time and without any mishaps. Stamps and envelope is only a $1 together.

Improvements. Improve the kiosks! Bad experience with video visits. Always the kiosk is having problems with the audio or video is freeze. I have a new laptop with good internet access, use google Chrome. But 12 minutes of the 15 minutes, the call is with no audio or the video is freeze. Video grams need to much stamps for only 30 sec. Stamps very expensive. Can’t schedule video visits through the app. Improve the email customer services responses. Most the time i don’t receive a response of my inquiry’s or account situations. Through the call center, last time called three times and they said my situation was with the correctional facility. I insisted through the jpay support email that there is was no problem with the correctional facility and finally jpay resolved my account problem.

So many issues. As much as I love being able to talk to my best friend there are so many issues with this app it won’t let me log into my JPay account I have contacted support and done the recommendations to try and fix this issue but it never works on top of not getting notifications OR emails when I get new mail! AND sometimes I’ll get a notification that I have new mail and then I go to check and there’s nothing new there! Apparently the new iPhone update is supposed to fix this issue but it doesn’t fix anything considering I never even logged out of my account on the app in the first place so I don’t understand why I was logged out in the first place! Just wish this was fixed already I’ve been able to log into my account on the website itself but this app has so many issues that NEED to be fixed ASAP I’m so disappointed with this app!

Email messaging. I have a problem when writing emails too. Since you updated your app I can’t see what I am writing and if I make a mistake it’s hard to see the mistake to change it. I have to tap on the message once to see what I wrote and than if I have a typing error fixing is a pain too cause I can’t see it to fix it. This needs to be fixed so we can see what we are typing. Than I can fix my errors as I type too. It’s hard to explain what happens but I am trying the best I can. Anyway, I hope you can fix this problem. I would’ve given a five too but I can’t because that needs to be looked at first and fixed. Fix that and I will give you a five star rating.

Essential. This is an essential mode of communication and health and well-being for all incarcerated individuals and their families. Often the only means of communication, as covid has changed so much of how often inmates can get to phones etc. this is critical for mental health , education, communication and being able to communicate with medical care and so so much more. We can all whine about the money spent of a bug here or a crash there . However it’s a system that is constantly being tested and worked on ... it’s honestly amazing and is only getting better ! Keep up all the hard work! Educational opportunities! And e-books , movies , video visits ! You make this horrible time more tolerable and functional for so many !!!!

Worst app ever. While I am thankful to be able to stay in contact with our loved one, it does not come without frustration. Videogram app works when it wants too. Some of the videos our loved one sends takes multiple days to weeks to receive. Then once we receive them not all videos will play back for us to watch. When you start to type a message if you have to leave and hope to return to it to finish typing the draft is now gone unless you go onto the desktop site to finish from there. Unable to schedule a video visit from the app, have to schedule and conduct video visits from the desktop site. The app developers really need to take a look into the production of this app and it’s functionality. Prison facilities are already making a killing in profit off of loved ones emotional vulnerability to stay connected to family during their incarceration. It’s a shame the communication companies are doing the same.

Ditto to other reviewers. This used to be an ok app. My loved one would write. I would get it the same day. I would reply, they would get it within hours. Now I’m not getting any of their e-mails. I have someone else that also has an account for the same loved one. That person gets all of the emails sent to them, so basically money is waisted 2 times. 1 for me to not get, the 2nd email is communication I have to get from the other person with an account. Horrible! We’ve gone 2 plus weeks without emails being sent to us because of jpay. I’ve informed jpay of this. Still not fixed. Yes, I’ve also deleted the app, downloaded app, deleted, downloaded, deleted, downloaded to no avail. I know that when the contract is up I’ll be petitioning my state for a different provider if these issues can’t be fixed. Jpay isn’t the only one with these services for prison communications.

This app needs a complete overhaul!. Most times this app does not send notifications and when it does it’s days after the email was actually received. There’s also a major delay with sending and receiving emails. Just recently I received an email 5 days after it was received. I agree it used to be a lot better. Now this app is just....terrible. Even access to photos is messed up. When “add photos” is chosen half the photos on my phone don’t even show up. I have contacted support a couple of times only to receive a bland email saying “we’re working on the problem sorry for the inconvenience.” What is the point of an email app the doesn’t send or receive emails?? Or at least not in a timely manner. I gave this app one star only because the “idea” that you can quickly contact your loved ones is nice, but implementation is poor to say the least.

JPay is NOT worth the money.... AT ALL. Over the past few months this app and system has only gotten worse and more worse. I even have emails that I have received be deleted. I have emails that have been sent not received. And then the kiosk system that is at the prison NEVER works more then a few days. My husbands tablet is now locked bc he has not been able to sync it in 30 or more days. This has come close to happening multiple times in the past few weeks. He send “tickets” the prison sends complaints, I send emails and complaints with no response. They send someone out to prison and claim for it to be fixed for them to only leave the inmates try to sync or send emails for it to still NOT work. And IF it does work it only last for a few days. I wish I had never spent the money on the tablet, for stamps, for the system any of it! It’s been nothing but a money waster and HUGE frustration!!!

It’s not me!. Something is wrong with the app. I was able to use it, then it quit working. So, I shut my phone off, and turned it back on, tried to log on, nothing, and I did this twice. It just simply kicked me off and out of the site. So I uninstalled the app, and tried to reinstall it…for the past 3 days… nothing. It kicks me out and won’t let me into the site. I know this isn’t me or user error… or my phone… because my friend is also having the same problem. Sooooo… what gives? Can ya’ll please get this fixed ASAP so I can communicate with my loved one like I did before. Also, before, downloading pics/images was hit or miss. Was there a reason for this? Has this problem also been fixed? I would have called customer service to discuss this, instead of putting my issue into a review, but I couldn’t get to the number because the app was not working.

Always malfunctioning. UPDATE: so in my prior review below, I state that I have contacted support and no support was provided and their answer was to contact suport! 🤪 If I could rate them a minus 5, I would. One note to folks complaining about delays, that problem is not Jpay's, it is the screening process at the facility. Prior review: I get five or six notifications per day that there are new emails when there are none. When I actually do get an email, no notification. I have to go in the app and check manually. I have sent multiple requests for support via the website, the app, etc. and never receive a response. The badge notification is no better. It will show over 200 new emails when there are NONE. The update fuction does not work like normal IOS apps, it will tell you there is an update but does not update. Then eventually it updates when you are trying to log in. The update should be available the updates link in the App Store. On the Jpay website, the video visitation still uses flash which is a technology that is no longer used in the industry and does not work on newer computers. Why doesn't the app provide a way to do video visitation? They only provide a way to send a short recorded message.

Continuance issues. Once again I’m back on here leaving a review first it was an email problem receiving and sending out of the blue after my complaint it was fixed. Now it’s not letting me log in it kicking back an error message saying unable to complete request at this time. I’m really starting to get frustrated with this app it’s truly unfair that I have to continuously go through issues with this company. Yes it’s great when it’s working and I would definitely give you 5 stars if it worked accordingly but lately you guys get no stars from me, every other day I have an issues an as much clients and money that is spent using your services it should never be any problems. Let me guess you guys are going to write me back saying please call technical support and send me the number right smh. That’s all you guys ever say, then you call and be on hold for an hour and magically the call disconnects or you do speak to someone and they say they will fix it and never do smh. I’m highly disappointed.

Non-responsive. I’ve been using this to try to keep in touch with my daughter after making some stupid decisions… It would take some messages over a day to get to her when some of them would be there within minutes. I have not been able to login or get the page to load for a couple of days now. When I try to go to the software support page it doesn’t load either. Other than when my daughter calls this is the only way I have to contact her and sent her photos of her son. Even then half the time the photos don’t make it through but I get charged a stamp for sending it even if she never gets to see it. This needs to get fixed… I have uninstalled and reinstalled because it’s talking about the iPhone update. Still not working I’ve got six months that I need to be able to communicate with my daughter and this is not helping. Would be great if somebody from customer service could respond or make your help website actually work

Expensive for poor service. You would think as much as jpay loves to charge alot on stamps etc. they would be able to provide better services. But app lags.. sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Sometimes i have to wait long time for it to go to into app and load to new page. Slow loading pages etc... cant wait for California facilities to go to new company for stamps etc... jpay- expensive stamps want $18 for 80 stamps, gtl- very affordable will be a only few cents per stamps. Phone calls very affordable Only .40cents per call, Jpay couldnt beat that... Jpay greedy dont care about customers like us.. cant wait for gtl to take over on messaging services.. jpay overpriced ive soent so much money on this greedy company.. soon i wont have to put up spending so much money just to send a message!!! Go away jpay, or stop being greedy and start caring about us, the ones that keep you in business, or i hope gtl takes all your business in the future if you dont change :) :)

Beyond frustrating!!. This app has always been frustrating since I started using it January 2019, but lately it’s been even worse. My fiancé sent me an email and picture on 8/27 and usually I’ll get what he sends anywhere from 2 hours to 1 day later. I’ve continually checked the app and no new emails, but this morning I woke up to a notification saying I had two new messages and when I opened the app there were no new messages. I have an iPhone XR and my app is as up to date as it can be. It doesn’t show up in the AppStore updates section to be updated, but I’ve still uninstalled and redownloaded the app in hopes that that would fix the issue. Still no new emails!! It’s been 3 days since he sent them, there’s no reason I shouldn’t be able to see them.

App is TRASH. I swear if I could give it no stars I would, this app used to be good and I was able to keep in contact with my fiancé with no problems but now JPay has been deleting my messages, all of my emails to him are not saved, when he sends me letters sometimes they are cut off even when he doesn’t write a long letter, he does not receive the photos that I’ve spent soo many stamps on to send him, the time that it takes for him to receive the message is entirely way too long and I don’t get any notifications whatsoever when I actually do receive a letter from my fiancé. Sometimes the app will say that I have absolutely no messages which I know is a lie because I don’t ever delete my messages and the app won’t allow you to sign half the time, what’s the point of an app if I can’t sign in?! This app is just garbage I’m sticking to the basic letters

Updates. This app used to be very fast at receiving & sending. Lately since all the new updates the app seems to be slower & behind more than it ever was. Sometimes I cannot attach pictures or if I do my recipients won’t receive them. Sometimes if I send a lengthy message my person won’t receive it. JPay is not horrible & I absolutely hate using it now. Sometimes I get messages right away with notifications. Sometimes I’ll get a notification & go into the app but won’t see any new messages. It’s ridiculous!!!! The updates aren’t updates at all, they’re simply making the app worse! It’s a faster way other than going the old fashion route & actually hand writing to send a letter. I wish the developers would figure out the glitches & get their systems inside of the jails/prisons together.

Used to be great- but now terrible. For over two months this app will no longer allow me to purchase stamps. I’ve written/“reported problem” to both technical mailbox and general mailbox over 6 times now. No responses other than the auto-generated “we will review and respond in a few business days”. Deleted app, reinstalled, tried purchasing stamp after composing email, tried purchasing stamps before composing email...nothing. It just crashes the minute I hit submit on payment. I am a VP at the bank and there is no issue with card/bank account and shows no attempt from jpay to collect or authorize payment. I even tried 3 other credit cards and experienced the same issue. The actual website has the same issue as well. Super frustrating at a time of covid where there are no longer visits and calls are limited due to lock downs for covid related illnesses etc.

Unclear. I have been using this app for over a year now and I am sure I should own shares in this app due to all the money I have spent. And now with Covid-19 with uncertainty in our country this app doesn’t ease things when you have a hard time getting emails from your love one or send pictures. Emails from 6am is not delivered until 10pm. That’s ridiculous. Or maybe the next day or days later. Come on I get the stereotype of this being used for inmates but these are our family regardless. I believe we all have spent enough for a more updated app and quicker response time with things being sent through JPay app. I have lost money over time I didn’t cause problems but I need better service. I mean no us no y’all with jobs. Look at it like that and we all win. Just not satisfied with my service or this app. Developers do better so we can be great together.

Interface needs lots of work. I use dark mode for my phone and this app tries unsuccessfully to work in dark mode. I have to go back to light mode to transfer more than 1 stamp because I can’t see the wheel in dark mode. Nothing is there to see. I can’t see the word inbox or the words for sent mail either. I’d rather the entire app work proper than try to make dark mode work. Leave it light until you can get it together. Notifications are another issue. I get notifications after I’ve already read the emails. Both the app and the emails are late with that so that’s another thing that’s not working as it should. This app needs a lot of work. Edit - I received a response from the developer to uninstall and reinstall because supposedly that would fix the issue. It didn’t. I have also gotten another phone since then and the issue stays the same. All of my issues are the same. So my review is unchanged until it’s fixed.

GO-BACK-TO-HOW-IT-USE-TO-BE. When I first started using this App a few years ago I would have gave it 5 stars, but now it’s a very low 3 stars...(like everyone else states) all these updates have pretty much killed this service. I no longer get alerts that I have received an email, he doesn’t on his end either...I tried to buy stamps last month and got charged but never received them and I guess there is no evidence on yall’s end that I was even charged so nothing can be done about it or no refund can be made. I’m not sure why it cannot go back to how it use to be either, especially since almost every review on here complains about the same exact thing!! I understand that the speed of when my loved one receives his email might be on the prison it’s self but taking my money and not giving me my stamps or a refund is completely on you guys!!!

Adding pictures issue. App works for what I need. We are only able to send letters and not receive. It is annoying using the app itself to type up a letter so I write in my notes the copy and paste in the app which for some might be annoying but I like it better. My biggest complaint is adding pictures. I click to add attachments and only some of the pictures in my gallery show. It pulls my albums and I go to all photos and it shows like the most recent 5 and some random old ones. I almost never get the ones I want in there unless they were the last ones I took. * adding that this picture thing is still an issue. When attaching it only shows the last like 10 photos and the rest are random old ones. Also when using snap and send if you go to history the app crashes.

Dissappointed. The app works fine for the most part. But I’m disheartened that the prices are so high. Happy is making money off of families that are already struggling due to their loved one not being home. In my case, currently I’m a single Mom until he’s released. It’s sad to me that our kids can’t even enjoy the conversation with him because I can’t afford. Making So much money off of the disadvantaged is horrible. It would be one thing if the inmates were working to help pay for these fees. But they aren’t. All of these high fees and prices end up on the shoulders of us out here that are struggling to survive and provide for our children. It would be nice in the chargers were more reasonable. To send a 30 second video, include a reply for the inmate, one email with a reply, boom your at 10 stamps! That’s just ridiculous to me! There’s tons of ways to lower these prices and make this burden less oj the families instead of lining your pockets. Sincerely, the struggling Mom.

Only choice. This app is crap I literally have to uninstall and download every single day because it either freezes up or tells me I cannot receive mail at this time. My messages are always delayed and out of order!! My husband received an email 1 1/2 MONTHS after it was sent. I am so upset that this worthless app is the only one available where my husband is or I wouldn’t even bother with it, and I’m sure neither would the other very few people that are forced to use it as it is the ONLY OPTION. I’m usually not one to make a Ruckus but this has been ongoing for almost a year now. Oh yeah and I almost forgot when you call if your connected at all it’s always been someone that sounds like the have at least 10 more important things they could be doing with their time than talking to you. So unprofessional . Seriously GET IT TOGETHER YOU SHOULD BE EMBARRASSED!!!

App is annoying and garbage!. It must be nice to be able to be the only game in town—then you can offer such a poorly conceived and maintained app and people have no choice but to use your services to email their loved ones. Currently waiting for my son to receive a picture of our fireplace at Christmas and decorated Christmas trees. They were sent before Christmas. We are waiting for a list of friends addresses from him, as well as a personal email he sent his father who is ill. We have contacted your customer care people on several occasions and they were courteous but said it was maintenance issues. For all the issues you have, you would think this service would be better but it is not. I would love to recommend that people use a different service but they have no choice but to use your company. This latest version 19.1 is probably the worst , unreliable, buggy unstable version you folks have come up with so far..

Unacceptable. This company is a joke. When you email their “support” you receive a canned response about how they will be addressing your issue... two weeks later... still nothing. AND their is another note in their response about the high volume of messages they are receiving to explain their delay. No doubt your receiving a ton of messages with the multiple issues. I have had numerous issues including being CHARGED for attached pictures but the images never being received. Do not say “these have to be approved by the facility “ as mine had absolutely nothing in them that would merit a rejection. So... where is this being addressed? How can you continue to charge people without following through on the product? This is a scam and there are numerous other issues. I plan on reporting them to the BBB and anyone else who will listen.

Unsubstantiated Delays. This gets a one star because of the consistent increase of delays in email and pics. My emails are and shall only be G-rated. I’m a retired military officer in National and local securities and also worked for JAG. It is unfortunate that friends and family make poor choices, but to deliberately pigeon hole family correspondence after paying for services is criminal in itself. The system is like selling ice in the desert. Charge high and short the service delivery. It has been taking more than 4-5 days to get transactions completed anymore. I understand the need to ensure no trigger words to scrutinize, but it has become ridiculous. The persons reviewing incoming mail forgetting to forward after reviewing should be held accountable for their actions. The residents only get one complaint a month. The developers of JPay should sit down with facility officials to build a better relationship or lose business.

It works for us. I’ve been using this app for many years. I’ve never had an issue with it. I love that it’s easily accessible ( which is part of having an app) and I love that if I need to send money, just a “ hi, I’m thinking of you” I can do so. I have had no issues this far. I appreciate that now you can get more stamps for the same price you used to only get 46 for. And some have complained about using stamps to send pictures, it’s one stamp to send something and one to send the letter. It’s still cheaper than using your ink and postage. Thanks for an app well done. 😉

Cannot get entire page presently only giving me the send money pagd. I do not care for this app. It alerts email arrivals and when I access email there are no new message. When a new email arrives there is no notification. This causes me to have to do a check every hour for incoming correspondence--/what a hassle! Additionally, certain times I am asked to log in and other times jpay will store sign-in information. Ugh! I understand, also that the longer the email the slower it takes to reach the inmate. I've had to break my emails into parts e.g. Part one, Part two and so forth just to ensure a faster arrival time. I cannot get the entire page for sending and receiving emails.

Buggy broken mess. JPay in concept is amazing….however in reality my loved one will write me and ask why I haven’t written, because my emails don’t send. I’m very careful about what and how I write, I don’t send anything inappropriate in emails or pictures and for whatever reason some of my emails don’t make it but they still take the stamps. With JPay as a whole, I have paid for 3 video visits this year and due to the facility going on lockdown my loved one could not attend the visit but JPay sure kept my money anyways. Not to mention the first visit of the month used to be free, not anymore. JPay is a money hungry scam, but realistically I’m going to keep using it, because it is the fastest form of communication for me and my loved one…..they should really fix their app though.

Scam and monopoly. I have put in tickets for help. I get an error message every time. Complained with bbb. Got a call from a “supervisor” that sounded like I was keeping her up. Totally not helpful. Couldn’t of cared any less. Can’t send pictures at all. It won’t attach them. So I screen shot them to send, then my inmate says they didn’t come thru because they are social media. It’s just sad that jpay is your only option. I get wanting to make money, but this company is taking advantage of hostages. But we will put up with it because we have to. Snail mail is worse if that is possible, because the mail people in the prison could care about as much about their job as Jpay employees do. Families of inmates are first punished by their family by doing wrong and then raked over the coals by these kinds of companies and the prison system. Even though we didn’t do anything wrong. Just sad!
