Missing features.... I love the app. I really like the ability to sample from my own library, thanks a bunch. It is very easy to create programs, win! The compressor sounds good too. The fx were ok, they could use some tweaking to get them to sound better and maybe the ability to save the fx as user presets. Maybe factory presets to get the 12 bit MPC 60 crunch! Also the Ensoniq ASR10 would be dope too. Lets not forget the EMU SP12. It's probably to much to ask for..... I could see some pro features as add on's like "auto chop" to a program and maybe multiple triggers for the pads. ***The most important thing I was looking for was song mode so that I could combine different sequences together into a song and then export sequence as wav/mp3/etc. and track split to file from song mode to master in a DAW. I own all! of the Akai MPC's and I would like to put them in a display case so that I can just use my iMPC for ever...

Crash?. The app doesn't open anymore. I've been using this app for over a year now, I absolutely love it. But starting last night, when I touched the app icon it opened for a second and then closed back to my iPad's desktop. I've tried 50 times since last night and I keep getting the same result. I've noticed a few glitches the last few weeks. When I would record a beat, it didn't sound as crisp as it should during the recording process. When you played back what you just recorded it sounded fine, but during the recording it didn't sound crisp like it always has in the past. The second glitch I noticed recently is when I left the app to go to another app or web page, a red line across the top of the screen(from where it says ipad to your battery life) would always be there. In the line it would say iMPC recording. To remove the line I would have to shut down my ipad then start it back up. This is really disappointing because I have tons of beats that I'd hate to lose.

Not the hardware but gets the job done.. I've been using the 2000xl for over 20 years and this a great option for loop making. It won't replace my machine but could be a great temporary substitute in a last minute emergency situation. It's worth the small price as well. Anyone who really uses a real MPC every week would appreciate this for reasons that a regular user would understand. My 2 cents.

Almost Perfect..... This is my new favorite drum machine. Hands down. Everything about this is perfect. The sounds, the UI, the price, the functionality (the manual!)....all of it! I am so happy that Akai finally did this! The ONLY thing I would change is that it needs Audiobus....("yes! All the kids scream for AUDIOBUS!") If you are having trouble copying a pattern to another app, look for the clipboard icon (top right hand corner of finished export dialog box) It does integrate very well with Tabletop (which is very nice groovy feature) Also, iTunes is not the best way to move files around, (I am glad that it is an option, but there are better/faster options) I'm pretty sure that Akai is hip to these facts already. I look forwards to the future of this app with joy! Thank you for the great new tool Akai!

Stop Lying About this App it. Stop Lying about this app the only thing you're doing is letting people know that you don't know how to use an mpc or any sampler for that matter. some of you are saying that sample editing on this thing is easy and a breeze, stop lying, you can't even edit the sounds in the library, and you can't edit your own samples after the initial recording of them…. stop lying.!!!! you cannot export audio from this app without loop tails so that you can correctly import and play the audio in another app………… so stop lying!!!!!!! this app does not resample internally………… so stop lying !!!!!!! this app does not automatically chop samples and assign them to the pads…………..so stop lying and even if you don't care about auto chop like me and have been sampling way longer than auto chop has existed you still can't edit samples (chop manually) without having to resample the same sample for every single slice. in other words if you sampled a 4 bar break and wanted to slice it up you'd have to sample it 4 times!!!!!! ………………………..so stop Lying !!!!!!!! this app is not a fully functional mpc as blatantly, and falsely advertised ! …. so ……….JUST STOP LYING !!!!!!!!!!!!

Not what I Expected. So I thought, Wow! an official Akai MPC app and found that looks we're deceiving shortly after committing to the purchase. I currently own Beatmaker2 which is my go to production app and in comparison I can't help but think Akai dropped the ball on this one. The plus side is that I was able to launch the app and get right to work but, felt limited as I was attempting to move forward. So I can't figure out to to edit samples after I sample and assign them. How do you chop on this thing ? Where's the create new sound option from the trim screen ? I thought the iMPC app would simplify things like how Beatmaker2 has but, isn't even on par with the 2000XL. All in all I guess this is a cool drum machine for the price but, for full on sample based production...Not recommended ! 1 sample bank is not enough...at least the MPC 60 had 2. No filters or any of the staple MPC parameters (attack, decay, note mute) no trim screen. The only thing MPC like about this app is appearance... Not worthy of the MPC title. The sequencer is about the only thing I can recognize as being effective. App is cool, almost good but, far from great. Here's hoping that future updates will add some much needed features to bring this app closer to being included in the MPC legacy.

Impc is one of the best music apps ever. I love this app. It's a mpc and it work like a mpc I love it. I see there some people's trying to knock the app it must be that they don't know how to use a mpc .so they write a bad review that's sad people. Real cats that have mess around with a mpc they will love this.. I didn't have to check the menu ,I just knew how to use it .so all you hater please slow down. Play with dj hero.....don't waste other people's time...

To the first time MPC users. To those saying it won't record. No one blames you for not knowing how to record right away. If you're new to the MPC you don't know that you have press 'Record + Play Start or Play". That should fix your not being able to record problem. Now go make music! Love the app good job Akai. Wish it had a 'Sample Chop' feature. Maybe in the update. Still 5 stars though.

You've got to be kidding me. C'mon Akai, you can do better! I was pretty excited to use this app, as it LOOKS great. But it seems Akai put most of their efforts into the interface design, as there are some crucial functionalities that are missing and are absolute deal-breakers. 1) I can't edit samples after I record them, let alone chop them. And there is no copy/paste sound option to speak of. 2) Why on god's green earth would my sequence playback stop when I'm looking for sounds in my library?! So instead of testing sounds on the fly, I have to load the sound, press play, see if it goes with what I laid down, rinse and repeat, until I find something I like? Ridiculous! No extra banks, only whole number bpm's... I could go on and on. Having used other apps like Beatmaker, I have to say this is a HUGE letdown. I'll be expecting updates.

Terrible app. I don’t usually write reviews, but felt compelled to review this app after using it many times. While using the app, it will frequently crash to the home screen on my iPad. While making a beat, I have begun to notice that the app will sometimes rearrange my hits without me doing anything. It is safe, it just has a mind of its own to change my heads. On the iPhone version that I have, the tempo of my beat is much faster when the headphones are unplugged, even though I have not change the tempo. The correct tempo will play when the headphone jack is in use. This does not happen on my iPad. These features impair some of the functionality. I cannot recommend this app until more bug fixes improving use. Additionally, I’m not sure whether the app will allow importing tracks from device to device. I had to remake all of my beat on my new iPad because I could not figure out a way to export them from my iPhone, and import them into my iPad.

Similar to iMaschine, but still needs help.. Before getting immersed in iOS music production I used to make music on a PC and used Native Instruments extensively for all my sounds. I was excited to see iMaschine as an app on my iPad (back in 2011) and did not hesitate to buy. Well, it was just ok, has lots of potential, but the capabilities have not been enhanced since (no Audiobus, ACP, nor IAA) and uploading samples is a chore (have to connect to a computer, and has to be a certain sample rate to work). Now there's iMPC, this one is able to read sample rate, but still have to connect to a computer, no Audiobus nor IAA. Functionality is similar on both apps. One advantage iMPC has over iMaschine is that you can you can interact within your iPad, in this case with Tabletop. On Tabletop, you can as many instances of iMPC as the idevice can handleand create a complete production in the box, while iMaschine needs to send its track to either SoundCloud or Maschine on a computer to finish it out. So, there you have it, iMPC, not perfect but close enough for beat making.

A money scam to keep u locked their products only. I’ve tried all the work arounds Over the top with the money games, overtly created with limitation, confusion 2 drive more money out of the customer.

Make music, not neurons. Perfect ui & work flow, better than a real mp3.. If you are looking to buy this app, do it, now. This app is the pinnacle, of track creation. Period. Super easy to use, got a song completed, first day, learned all options first glance. Will not confuse anyone. Will get you to work & keep you in the zone. I have tried many apps, major titles & minor, for example, fruity loops & music studio, ect beat maker, you get the point, we'll this I get, you will get. The before mention apps are all reluctantly deleted. Iam a music pro, & they made me feel dumb. Before now, I've been anti-mpc, I am now pro-impc . Could have 8 tracks, layering, & a folder system employed to contain & play whole tracks, after they are setup sectional . I wish to Chang my skin, to personalize. The app is simple as musical notes, & will produce as many sounds. I wish GarageBand was as easy to operate. Also, look up the video tutorial, it's like am unite, & your a pro, impc'er

Super Slick - Best In-app Sampling Interface. I've been loving on iMaschine for a while now, but was feeling a little dismayed after a year without updates. This came along and does just the trick. Granted, iMaschine may have it beat on the sound libraries, but that one is also a sampler that doesn't let you sample, (except from the mic,and then you cannot trim loops.) I love the sampling interface here, and I can't wait to see where Akai takes it. Remember that this has been out for only a month.

Already Great / On The Verge Of Amazing. There is So much to love about iMPC: The contained samples are inspiring which is no small thing: Most beats apps have sufficient stock sounds - iMPC has KILLER stock sounds. As importantly as that there are a LOT of ways to be creative and get really deep editing beats here - the latest updates have added a new level of possibilities and if this continues to evolve iMPC could be an app in a category all its own. Looking forward: Audiobus support would turn iMPC into an even more expressive / flexible instrument. Attack / Release settings per sample if not full ADSR settings would multiply the personal touch possibilities of samples in general and Grid-edit with per-step data control would launch this into the same sacred realm as the physical MPC's that have inspired this app as well as a few generations of dedicated users. One small request for the UI now: the pencil icon for getting to the Pads / Program editing page is small enough that missing it when trying to tap it slows an otherwise great workflow - given that users are continuously switching between the Performance main page and the Pads Edit page to tweak samples and settings it would be great if the icon that swaps between the two didn't require a delicate aim to trigger. All said: a LOT of love for iMPC and huge hopes for further developments and features. Thank you Retronyms.

My dream app - Just like the machine.. I have wished for this app to come out, and it far exceeds my expectations. Just like the machine - as much as can be. I can play the hardware machines really well. This thing is great to practice on. It'll definitely teach you how to use the MPC Series Samplers. Obviously, this wont have the same feel unless you buy the Akai Controller pads or keyboard. I think this app is worth every penny.

Fine tuning. I love this app, but how and the heck can you fine tune samples to one another when the music and the metronome are not playing. in you next update, please fix this issue. IMPC lets me create hot ish but it's never tuned just right. And after you adjust the tuning Knobs once, they freeze; I have to completly power down to do more adjusting(imagine do that everytime for each sound. lastly can you raise the volume on the metronome; you can hardly her it.

Useless outside of Tabletop. Edited: There is indeed an audio copy/ paste feature but the way to do so is not as obvious as every other music app that utilizes this feature. In fact it seems that Akai intentionally done its best to hide the smallest little button to bring up the audio copy and paste which can then only he accessed by first "export to soundcloud". Despite the fact that I can still work around this for the most part, its been a while since i have used this app, and due to bad customer service and lack of developer support for the IMPC( and Tabletop for that matter) they have since collected dust for a while now. I can only speculate why these two apps got so popular, but those opinions will be left for more appropriate channels. There are better drum machines and sequencers on IOS. I will just take the impc sample files and load them in a far superior drum machine and delete this subpar app to save space. Original review: This app, despite a very pro look and ok sound, is virtually useless outside of Tabletop, which is an already archaic dinosaur of music production. There is no audio copy/paste and no audio us support and due to the limited nature of its export option, you can only export to soundcloud or upload songs to the community board which is non professional in the slightest. Unless you utilize Tabletop, you won't get much out of this app. Once it can be used on its own, which won't happen I presume, then its not really worth the money.

lame on so many levels!!!. What makes this an MPC? Because it looks like one? In the words of Katt Williams, as crazy as he is " a Chrysler 300 looks like a Phantom until one pulls up on the side of you". Where's the features. Yu guys aught to be ashamed of yourselves!!! 1st off my iMPC icon is white now after updating and when i open it in stand alone i see no pads just the words from the interface, weird. Roger Linn bless his soul is probably turning over in his grave about you guys butchering his masterpiece. This is merely a toy as is. And tabletop over audiobus? Really? Tabletop is so limited and slow with releases. They must have paid big bucks for exclusive rights to iMPC. Shame on you for limiting users for personal gain. And if its not true then so what, you guys shouldn't have left us stranded with Another useless app. AUTOCHOP AUTOCHOP AUTOCHOP!!!!!! Oh and one more thing AUTOCHOP!!!!! Lord help them because they obviously don't know what the hell they're doing. If you can't do it right don't do it at all. AUTOCHOP!!!!!!

Great buy. If you are a true beat maker, you could work with anything! This is perfect for any one creative enough to make beats w/o autochop! You could always manually chop it up. Don't complain. Price is sweet for what it do do! They'll update if you ask. I support akai and have a few products. I hope to win the contest. Check me out on sound cloud. (@How it suppose to sound) hope to network w/ you soon.

Good app, very user friendly. This is probably the best beat making app out right now. What more can you ask for with a price like this. I like the fact that your able to use it with "Tabletop". This app is very self explanatory unlike other apps. I own two other MPCs (1k/4k) and I'm about to purchase the MPC Studio, so I don't expect to pay 7 bucks on an app and have all the same features as it's expensive counterparts. The turntable option is pretty dope too. The downfall is that you only get 4 tracks, but that your forces your creativity also. Plus you you can pull the app into "Tabletop" so it's not that bad. So in all, if you want features, buy a real MPC. Need something to sketch ideas, this is the app for you.

Please UPDATE THIS APP. 🎛 needs update for crashing importing and exporting

Half Star for that last effort 11 Mos. ago. Dont destroy the good name of Akai. You have not updated this to the latest iOS SDK and it shows. Major changes were adjusted and added to the audio portion. Please fix this app.

Needs Improvement!. First, let me say that just the sample set which is included is worth the purchase price, the problem is that the app lacks features that you would expect to find... For example, the sample edit page allows you to tweek the volume and the pitch, but not panning. I don't know if you're up on the latest trends in music technology, but there's this new thing called "stereo" that really depends on panning. I know that a lot of folks consider stereo to be just a fad, but mark my words... Not only is it here to stay, but I beleive that in the future there will be other formats that will surround you with 5 to 8 speakers!

Mostly Good, Still Major Flaws. This App is an awesome way to stay musically creative when all you have is your iPad. Whether on a plane, train, or at the park, iMPC allows you to sample audio and compose your own music. PROS: -Intuitive feel and easy sampling from iTunes library. You will learn quick and be entertained for days. -Good drum samples included. -Classic Akai Look and Feel. CONS: -Pads sometimes didn't always trigger samples when hit. (maybe it has to do with the fact that I'm using iPad 1) -The tutorial section isn't comprehensive enough. I still had questions about using 16 Levels and I don't have a resource to consult to learn more about using iMPC. -Exported .WAVs do not sound the same when in their exported form. Specifically, the changes i had made to individual sample hits (transposing, tempo change) didn't appear in my exported song, which meant I could only listen to my songs in the iMPC program. This is EXTREMELY frustrating. What's the point of having a great sampling/production tool if you can't export your beats and turn them into hits? As soon as this fatal flaw is fixed in an update I'll change my review to 5 stars.

Update makes it legit!!!. This app was dope when it first dropped. Although it was like a demo version of a MPC500, it still had the classic feel. With the update (adding mute pads, truncating and easier sampling/pad assignment) it's now more like the MPC2000!!! I read some reviews already upset about no audiobus or midi support. Come on, this is an MPC, not logic, protools or fruity loops. For the real beat heads who know MPC styles, this is a lot easier to use on the go or on the fly. 100 times easier to make head noddin sounds then version 1. Throw in downbeat marking on the sample chopping and I'll throw in another star. In no way am I complaining though.

Works on My iPad 1. Love this thing. Stable and fast on 1st Gen iPad. I'm surprised. Sequenced three tracks, exported each to iTunes, imported in Ableton Live, and overdubbed from there. Made the heart of the full mix on the iMPC from the comfort of lying down on my couch. Lazy hobbyist's paradise. Would love some affordable in app sound packs. Especially chords and melodic content. Why all the bad ratings? Haven't read them, but I'm shocked. This thing rocks. The iMini, on the other hand crashes and stutters on my vintage iPad. Can't use it. The iMPC will get tons of use. Fun! Best seven bucks spent on an app.

Nice Update-Almost There. Retronyms is creating awesome apps. They have been very receptive to suggestions and constructive criticism. This update shows that they listen to and value their customers, which is all we can ask for. The sample editing features have move iMPC to a whole new level and beyond notable similar apps such as iMaschine (which doesn't even support audio copy/paste). I am happy with the direction Retronyms has taken. Audiobus capability would take this app. to the top!

Ok, but Not an MPC. EDIT: after downloading Tabletop, I'm updating my review. This app is much better with it since it provides solutions for its shortcomings. However, it's still missing rudimentary MPC features: chop, song mode (provided in Tabletop), and more than 4 tracks. It is missing other features that you take for granted in apps like this, like Dropbox support to manage samples. It would be nice if you could load patterns into Tabletop that you create in the standalone version. I must say that the sound quality is very good. However, it's a few updates away (hopefully) from being a real MPC.

It does what it is designed to do but .... it is missing some key (for me at least) options. The one shot is great but I need to be able to stop it. There should be an option for each sample to stop the playing instead of restarting it on a second keypress. There also should be a loop-until-stopped mode. The hold mode is fine, but I would not use it. In a live performance, Ineed to be doing other things that could not be done if I were holding a key down which is why I need the loop and stop options. In some of our plays, I need to start a background sound (this would be a loop until stopped), bring in some one-shots, cut them off sometimes and not other times. Because it is a live performance (a play, not a gig)I do not know the exact length the background sound needs to be. I need to be able to monitor and adjust the mikes for the actors which is why I cannot afford to devote a finger to holding down a button either for the background or for the one-shots I wish to be able to stop. If these functions are not available on your hardware version, it would not be an alternative that I could even consider and it does not appear that they are from the descriptions I am able to read on the web. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it not deprecated?. This app has not been updated in more than a year, and yet you’re running a sale on it? Doesn’t seem right to me

App keeps crashing. Not sure why there seems to be no support for this paid app it keeps crashing on the iPad and it can make you look like a fool when you try to show a client something. Not pleased

Fun app to play with!. If you know how to use an MPC then you need to have this! If you want to learn how to use an MPC then you need this! I wouldn't use an ipad app to replace my 2500, but for long trips or a vacation, the iMPC does just enough to make my ideas a reality. Is this app perfect? No, but hopefully the future updates will give us everything we want...like pad banks and more sample trim options. Soundcloud dot com forward slash cream-of-beats Cheap plug, yea I know! Check the goodness! Haha

Decent sampler. Easy to use, stable port of the MPC style sampler to the iPad. good for people who'd rather work on grooves with their ears as opposed to looking at step sequences with their eyes. You can spread out up to 64 different samples (assigned to pads) on 4 tracks for any single sequence, and easily string various sequences together to form tracks. Retro interface but it gets the job done. Presets are fine but with a strange emphasis on chip tunes/arcade sounds; also, the "classic" sounds are sounding pretty dated by this point, the new banks are better. Upside is it's easy enough to load it full of your own samples. Remember to sample with reverb though -- no reverb included in the app, only a primitive delay. Things this needs: 1.) dotted quarter and eight notes in the quantize and delay functions, for sure! 2.) The ability to mute individual pads on the fly, this would greatly enhance live functionality. As is, you can only mute entire tracks, so you have to be careful how you group your various samples. 3.) Better efx! All in all, a very good start though, and certainly useful and stable.. I'd recommend Samplr for more glitchy, experimental, loop-based work, and iMPC for more hit-oriented groove programming. I was an EMU user back in the day, never worked with Akais really, but this was still a breeze to get into in and fun to work with.

iMPC Reigns superior. Open letter to Retronyms: The iMPC app was ahead of its time...in 2013. Unfortunately the decision to focus on the iMPC Pro, which pales in comparison to the original, has not proven successful. The iMPC's note repeat, pitch slider, cpu performance, and output to a mastered product is far superior than its predecessor the iMPC Pro. iMPC pushes a beat maker to think outside the box and challenges artists to 'create more using less'. The lack of having an edit window/a visual arrangement actually pushed my creativity to new heights. The simple tools and easy workflow of the iMPC helped me craft tracks in minutes. Furthermore, from a customer standpoint, the most valuable aspect of the iMPC was an inter-app link to SoundCloud - this allowed the iMPC community to follow, like, comment and repost in realtime to SoundCloud within the iMPC app. However, over time this feature has been unreliable and glitch-ridden. From a business standpoint, when the link to SoundCloud was working within the iMPC app a strong iMPC community of beat makers began to grow. iMPC users saw an increase in the amount of views/plays and it was a value added - incentivizing customer loyalty. RETRONYMS! Could we please get an UPDATE to the original iMPC app? iMPC Pro was nice and all, but for real - its nothing but a shiny shell of the what the iMPC original had to offer. Kindly reconsider updating the app to its full-working order.

I don't know.... Initially, I really loved this installment using it though my Tabletop app, despite it being simplified. Over time, felt like the simplified version made more sense than the stand alone MPC app itself. Just feels like it needs quite a bit of improvement. HOWEVER, I still really enjoy this app. It hasn't crashed on me and has a good amount of sounds to use, with the option of putting in my own. It's decent, and from what I've come to learn, it isn't just about the app, but what you can do with it. Don't expect to spend a lot and suddenly become a music making God, get creative a little people. Work with what you got. End result, it's solid enough to use, but I'm sure it can get much better. Looking forward to the updates.

Great start!. I appreciate apps that have an easy workflow and excellent sounds, and this has both. If I need to do more in-depth work, I will use my laptop DAW. If I want to create something quickly and easily and have fun while doing it, I will use this. In regards to the negative reviews, comparing a new version of an app to the hardware it is based on, or to other apps at have been around for a couple years, is not a fair comparison. That is why this is a great start. I trust that the developers will listen to the user requests and improve it with time.

Unstable and unfinished. This could - and should - have been a much better app. The workflow is simple, the potential is great, but there are many big problems: - Crashes, crashes once in 2-3 audio paste attempts - very disappointing! - There is no sample editing after you saved a new file... Very strange. And no fade ins/outs to avoid clicks. - Only three effects? Come on, no flanger, chorus, or even a filter? - You can record patterns but cannot sequence them (only in real time by hand).

Nice!. If this app had 4 outputs in table top it would be the best drum sampler ever! It would be easy to put the little tape recorders on the outputs and get the tracks on your protools or other trackers. I would be forced into buying the table top addons. It reminds me of my mpc60 more than a mpc2000. Really fun and easy. One of the best part is it runs great on iPad 1. Multi stereo out, and Attack decay release would Make it complete.

App doesn’t work correctly anymore.. All the samples are playing back at 1/8 their original speed. It clearly needs to be updated or taken off the store.

Small minor things. This is a pretty good app. Its straight to the point. I think its great the way it is. The minor things i would like to see is when i file share with itunes we should have the option of creating folders so our sounds are more organized and easier to create programs. Also being able to make chop points and have the option of spanning across the 16 pads automatically. But i love the turntable...ultimate classic. When importing from ipod library there should be a preview button of whats listed instead of having to select one by one what i want to sample. Other than that this is one hell of an app escpecially for getting ideas out. Keep it just 16 pads. Its what also makes it original. Maybe you guys can hook up a beat store to purchase drums and breaks. You def have to add more banks even if you have to switch banks from the ipad screen for those who have the Fly thats a small issue. I dont think you need a sequencer just add a sequencer screen like the 2k, 1k where we can see the tracks and sequences for better organizing of our music. Im sure theres updates to come. Keep it up guys. Great job.

Very Impressed!. I've used the MPC 2000xl for most of my production for about 10 years now, making the transition to the iMPC was easy. This thing is almost an exact replica minus a few things. Very user friendly. I was able to start making beats right away no learning curve. Definitely one of the better apps for music production. I love the fact that you can export to your favorite DAW for further mixing and editing. I.e. protools etc. Good job overall.

Officially frustrated. I don't even know where to begin but I am officially disappointed in Akai. I think that one of the biggest disappointments is the fact that you cannot use Bluetooth speakers of any sort with this app and only with this app. I do not understand why! They have updated this app several times and most of the updates have been bug fixes towards sound cloud, as if that is a more useful option for us beat makers. Instead of updating the app properly, for example, giving us more tracks to begin with or, making a Bluetooth compatible, or many other things I can complain about, instead they going to release a new version. Deleting the app after several years of usage I can finally admit to myself that it's completely useless

Good Potential but could be better.. I use this app for skeleton tracks while I’m on the go for various groups that I play drums for. I haven’t had a lot of problems with this app but, the problems I do have are my pet peeves. It’s excellent for 4/4 timing but there are some songs I have to do odd timing. Also it seems to be crashing to my home screen sometimes. I hope the developers are still making updates and bug fixes because it would be nice to be able to use any time signature I want and need instead of just common time 4/4.

Great when it works. Bought this to work with my Akai mpd218. When it works it’s great, but it crashes a lot, and stops working completely a lot. Very frustrating, first time user of any Akai products and very disappointed.

Crashes often & exports glitchy audio. I had a big problem exporting audio files - all of the sequences were glitchy and some had chunks of audio missing. Therefore there’s no good way of exporting audio files to a DAW. If the developer could please fix these two issues, the app would be a lot better.

Good app when it wants to be. It’s been great for church usage, but just recently this app crashed on me when I was playing one of my tracks. Let’s just say that the tracks I created doesn’t sound the same no more and I have to redo almost all of them now. I don’t know how long has been since this app got an update, but I think it’s really time for one if you ask me.

I like it but....... It has a great ability to sample. However, it has no ability to really sequence. Which is a shame as that is it's real weakness. This company produces the tabletop app which has a half decent sequencer (not a great one). They do not implement that sequencer into this app. You can fiddle with this app but you can not craft. I wish they had more effects but I am not going to be mad about that. I looking forward to the growth of this app. I also would like to be able to use the app to edit samples in multiple ways. Such as play a set of notes in one recording and then chop it up and save each chop as a different sample.

Make creative beats anywhere!. I was excited when I heard about the release of this app. I was looking for a good app to help create beats that I could jam with but did not have the money to purchase an actual MPC. It gave me a look into the inside world of the MPC. I have had a blast so far learning how to create beats using the vast library of samples that you get with it. I encourage any musician who wants to take their beats deeper to download this app.

Hats off. $6.99 well spent. Those who are complaining about authenticity, etc...use your heads...it's not $4000 so it "may" not be everything your MPC Rennaissance is, but to be able to do what it CAN do, on an ipad, and do it well....amazing stuff. Not to mention there may be one or two updates in the future...just a guess...act like you've bought an app before and give the company constructive feedback if you want them to implement your recoomendations.

impc review- giftshoppe. Save/export function has bugs , this needs to be sorted out ASAP! Get caught in the final screen with no way out other then quitting the app ! Not good .... Effects need a bypass switch ...... An option to record a live session .... Granted its a new piece of software , but if I can't record anything more then a loop which don't even export properly what good is it to me ? You got my 7$ akai , now give me what I paid for ! I didn't pay for an unfinished piece of cluttery junk that kind of works but doesn't .... Updates please . Great looking interface , awesome functionality , With some tweaks and debugging , this has huge potential , Maybe you need to pay some industry brains to point u in the right direction ?.... Wish list .... 8 tracks ... Live mix down function .... A HOLD button .... Please <---- Arpeggiator ....... Some sample manipulation tools ... Eg, reverse, pitch/key , Adsr contr0L .. This app could go next level ! Shame it's not quite there yet.. Cheers wrap sheet !

cool. this is a pretty cool app. works well on my iPad. sampling is easy. good preset sounds too.

Cool. It's average on its own but awesome in tabletop

Very intuitive. Got it all working in a short time due to the smart layout and the ease of use. Is lacking decent audio export function which means you have to fetch your audio exports from an iTunes computer (not so smart for an app designed for a mobile device) I also feel the sequencer needs an editor. The sampler recording functions are very limited and lack controls such as stereo or mono input and there is no input gain. I have also found that I cannot monitor the audio input when using with iRiff Port which means I have to sample blind. Only has WIST midi over Bluetooth. This app really needs core midi support so you can sync to your external DAW.

Not possible to export to computer. Buyer beware! The export functionality relies on the desktop iTunes “Apps” section which has been removed from iTunes a long time ago. And iCloud is not supported. So basically you can’t export the stuff you created.

Disappointed. This program has serious issues. At first glance it seemed ok, as I started to use it with my own samples it goes haywire, all and all it just doesn't work, you could muck around with the pre loaded samples, but it lags and goes all over the place, when you try to implement your own sounds. Excited at first, now I'm just let down, in all fairness I should get a refund.

Like it a lot. No fancy stuff like midi or audiobus but it is fun and immediate The functions like 16 levels and beat repeat work well.. Keeping it simple means you can get to work on a beat and get it done quick.. Sounds are punchy enough for me.. Recommended beat maker/jam tool

I don't like it.. Nice graphics though

Needs Audiobus. With all the great and popular apps getting Audiobus support iMPC is falling behind. Tabletop is too proprietary and too app specific making it a Tabletop application not a interactive advancement in app connectivity. Loose Tabletop and move to Audiobus and iMPC will be #1. So 4 stars until Audiobus then back to 5 stars. Cheers

... Su*#s

Ouin. Never use it. Dont have enough good feature. At least they have nice sample.

iMPC Rocks!. I'm really impressed with the work that AKAI & Retronyms has put into this app. I just can't stop messing around with it! It's great if you're not home or you're not in the studio and want to lay down something real quick or if you use it as your only tool to make music. That being said, I'd like to see some improvements with regards to how samples are handled. It would be nice to import a sample once and be able to chop it up into multiple samples, whether by transient or regions. Also it would be nice if there was a feature that allowed you to assign to pads right away (multiple samples or one individual sample across all pads). Also it would be great to have at least 8 tracks. These 8 tracks could also have basic 3 band EQ at least. Last but not least it would be nice that one could have the option of being able to choose what tracks you want to add compression to while still having the option to add a master compression. Thanks for making the MPC accessible to the regular everyday man or super producer...

mint. absolutely loaded with samples and sounds. high price tag, but of you're considering it, it's well worth it.

A fantastic first release. Fanatastic first release from Retronyms and Akai. Really shines as you start to get your own samples on there. - Dropbox support for samples would be awesome - the ability to record and share more than just a program would also be awesome-- capture live playing and fooling about.

No metronome. Te impc is great except for two things that are actually really important. 1. You can't chop your samples (you can only trim it, copy, retrim, copy retrim, etc...) really annoying. Would be really great if you could chop into 8 or 16 beats). 2. The metronome is worthless. It's too faint so you can't hear. Also it's not visible, like a blinking light that indicates the beat (how hard is it to add this to impc???) Update (June 2013). Just bought beatmaker2 and it's what I should of got in the first place. It's at least 10 times more powerful than iMPC

Background audio please. Good app but This thing is worth nothing to me without background audio, i cant jam with other apps and stuf

Doesn't allow sampling of music library. This app has a bug where it treats my whole music library as DRM, and does not allow me to sample from it. Most of my music library is ripped from CDs that I've purchased. When I sent akai a message explaining this and requesting a refund, they just never got back to me. I can't recommend this app for anyone unless you've already tried it and understand its limitations.

Spectacular. Amazing and hilarious. A full working MPC for iPad. It rocks and is worth the money. So much fun.

i like it a lot. it works good, just when bouncing it out, it makes it 1 track. i wish i could make it into more then 1 track. other then that, it's the best.

Waste of money. Anyone coming from a real MPC would cringe at the sight of this app. No track sequencer, no chop shop, only four tracks, samples cannot be edited once assigned to a pad, Etc. If you want something that is more then capable, try beatmaker!!! Worlds ahead of this. So disappointed in akai.

Audiobus. I am still patiently waiting for audiobus support... I would love to use iMPC more, but, tabletop has too many flaws. iMPC would be a heavily used component in my collection of used apps, but, it's been unused for months. 3 stars now.. 5 after audiobus.

Good but not great!. I like this app but it is missing a few things that could make it exceptional. First off it needs audiobus support so we don't need to rely on the tabletop app so much. Tabletop is a fine app itself but my sequences and external samples don't carry over from the standalone impc to the tabletop impc. This app also needs better core midi support. I have an akai lpd8 that I use through lightning-USB connector but I can't map it unless I'm in tabletop. Even with a keyboard I can't find the midi notes to trigger the twelve pads. I'm not going to spend $200 on the mpc fly because it seems to have issues and I'm using an ipad mini after upgrading from an ipad 1st generation. I'm asking the developers to please make this app more accessible and versatile to users who don't prefer using tabletop and mpc fly. I would just like to be able to midi map to the standalone impc and use audiobus to create in a different app. This is a great song making component but I would like to have soft synths, audio tracks and effects in a DAW that isn't tabletop.

What happened?. Used to be one of my go-to apps, but now it crashes as soon as it starts and tries to connect to the net. The only way I can get it to work is to turn off wi-fi, and then I can't take advantage of the patch sharing, etc.

Yeah nice :). This app is just so cool ! Most of the fonctions of a MPC for something like 1/100 of the price !!! Only con is that you only got 4 tracks, no velocity and you barely got fx (its not a big con compared to actual mpc's fx list !) Totally a 5/5 for me !!! :D

Fix the Bluetooth compatibility. I have searched the problem online and apparently it's hasn't been working for a while. It would be nice to use my Bluetooth headphones with recognizable sounds....

The Top menu should be toggled.. I like the app. I wish I can toggle the top menu though. I found myself hitting it accidentally, quite often.

Good but keyboard gets stuck. When you decide to share your sounds on soundcloud.. They onscreen keyboard stays docked and you have to leave and close the app. I don't even know if it gets uploaded.

"Community". Cloud seeder, "community", whatever - another word for unwanted ads in a paid app. Annoying. Please lose that "feature" guys, or at least make it optional.

Where's audiobus!?. Where's audiobus!? This app has tremendous potential for iPad music production, but it's hard (for me) to stay in the groove when I have to constant stop the music, export sequence, switch app audio paste into app....ect. Sure I could use hardware to do live-style recordings but that defeats the purpose of iPad music production, music production on the go; all I want to hook up is my headphones! Four stars until audiobus support is added.

Impc is the best app ever. Impc ruless....

I want the options. I like it but I don't got the option icon

Great App. Workflow is unmatched (especially the Note Repeat) Would like to see some more control over samples with, but not limited to, waveform bound management and filter management. Oh and the sample library sounds are top notch!

Dope!!!. I'm new to beat making but my DJing skills really make it this an enjoyable experience! Well done AKAI!

:(. The sampler loads most of my songs in an inaudible, distorted way so I can't use them

Good Job Akai. AudioBus support PLEASE and a sequencer to program beats without Tabletop

Useless without Audiobus support, crashes constantly!!. Needs audiobus support, otherwise this is boring and no good. The best thing about my MPC is having outs and the ability to work with other equipment. Having this only work with tabletop is such a waste as tabletop is quite limited and buggy at best. Audiobus support, please! Crashes after editing one sample. So annoying. This app is plagued with disappointment!!

Not compatible. You cannot send your production anywhere except soundcloud, this is ridiculus.

Boom!. Great job! I usually don t want to pay for apps, but this one rocks, first impression nearly perfect for me!

It's good but.... If you do nothing else just connect with audio bus. We are all serious about using the iPad these days and you are discluding it from any type of production using iPad. Sample chop, piano roll, audio editing and you know the rest would be fantastic in upgrades. We are not privileged to use your app, you are privileged to have us as customers, adjust your service to suit.

Impeccable!!. This is an outstanding application for music producers!! It is portable, so it allows the user to conjure up tracks on the fly! No matter where you are in your travels...songs can be created on the spot! I am so delighted to be a part of such an amazing, musical platform! Retronyms is incredible!!

Great app but more functions would be great. The only big thing I wish this app had was cutting samples after they have been recorded. As of Version 1.0 you can only trim after the sample is recorded then you can never edit that sample again. I hope more comes in the next update. Other then that I love this app it's like my 2000xl to go!

Good Start. Not bad, where's the MPC Fly though? Good built-in samples. Looks like the real deal (even down to a scratched screen) Is a step sequencer too much to ask for? Can't wait to see what the updates bring!

Impc. I'm loving this app great sounds I had an Mpc 500 and sold it for NI maschine mikro now I can work on tracks away from my studio where ever I'm at yesterday I was making a track during intermission of my daughter s Xmas show how kool is that the creative process never stops especially when u all ways on the move like me full time job and resident dj at Amsterdam lounge ny ny Ty retronyms and akai win win win go get for the price u cand go wrong. Dj Vic Nyce 6point entertainment

Avoid, Avoid - don't go pro, either. I bought this app a long time ago. This is an app riding on the name of Akai, but it isn't Akai and what most serious 16-pad folk want is SOLID MIDI FUNCTIONALITY. Since iMPC Pro does not have that, and even the customer support of the developers couldn't tell me whether or not I could hook up my MPD24 thru the cam connect kit, I advise against this. For those who want midi, Beatmaker 2 is better than this in every single way. For those who want a quick and easy interface, iMASCHINE is better than this IN EVERY SINGLE WAY. DO NOT BUY.

FUN but not extremely useful live.... It looks, sounds and feels great! It's so much like the real thing but not for the live performance environment; I miss the step editor and song mode. I would also love to see some MIDI integration, but I imagine it'll never be perfect so Akai can still sell their hardware.

THIS IS WHAT I BOUGHT AN IPAD FOR!!!!!. The gods at Akai have blessed us with yet another soon-to-be classic app. I've been waiting for the iMPC since the iPad was released! No disrespect to Intuas Beatmaker (I really like the program), but for heads that grew up producing on MPC's and SP12's iMPC is great! Just the sounds alone are worth the $6.99! I made 4 beats the hour I got the app! Now time to go sample crazy!

Almost.... Two things. 1) The sequencing is extremely unreliable and NOT user friendly 2) You should be able to share programs across iPads instead of having to remake them Other than that, no complaints.

No piano roll editor. I just cannot believe there is no piano roll editor! You know, that sequencer grid thing that let's you edit each step of the sequence...that's in EVERY other producer app??! I keep reopening this app every few weeks thinking "it must just be me, OF COURSE there's a piano roll editor somewhere! What kind of moronic amateurs would possibly leave something that fundamental out?" It's just me, has to be...I'll check again in a few weeks. Lol

Freaking Awesome App! But.... ..does not yet support Audiobus. That would make this awesome app that much awesome-er lol. But overall this app is great and very user friendly. I definitely recommend it and only hope that the developers add in Audiobus support in a future update.

Overall (it's good). It does have a few bugs, like loosing part of or most of your track, it could be me but make sure u down load your track as soon as u finish it just n case u end up loosing it, also can we make an edit for your samples, I can't go back n re-edit old samples I put in my bank an one more thing, can u make sampling longer than 8 bars? Give thanks

Everything Works. I don't understand why people are complaining about the record button not working. If they read the instructions, they'd figure out you have to hit both play and record at the same time to start a recording.

Impc awesome updates. This feels like a workstation rather than just a app, impc has to be on the top 10 list, the community that's on this impc are the most positive people I've come across. Updates are wonderful, and very much appreciated,

The Only Thing You Need. This app is really good it's way better than its competitors. It has a real mpc feel its not cheap and cheesy feeling like beat maker 2 and its a nice addition if you have your own samples or make click tracks!!!

CRASHES. What sense does it make to ask for new features when a ton of people are experiencing crashes? I don't understand how so many people can experience a crash trying to complete a limited amount of tasks and there still not be an update... More and more people are loosing a ton of good music, and having to start over, only to experience crashes trying to complete the same task. I guess people took this app to be too literal/serious. Maybe it's supposed to be a game or something. *EDIT Can we get a bug fix? All updates don't have to come with new features... You guys are killing me. *EDIT* It's been almost 2 months since I've used the app. Still waiting on an update... *EDIT* App won't even open now. Just crashes...

thank you akai.. the only thing I would like to see is a way to lock the assignable fader in the position you last set it. maybe a settings option, or a double tap when you select the fader function... or a small push toggle next to the fader allowing both hands to trigger pads/sequences.

Absolutely Perfect!. This is by far the best beat-making app out there (and trust me, I've tried them all). The sounds are all of amazing quality, and the functionality of all the features is great. Please continue updating this with more programs!

Great launch at 1.0. This is a really fun software MPC! Great soundset! I had a ton of fun the first day with this. Love that it shows in Tabletop. Hoping for very simple feature updates that give it true MPC style options. Chop, layering, simple sample editor, multiple routing to fx. Doesn't have to get ultra complex. I like the easy record part in standalone mode. The introduction to standalone external controllers would be great too, but understand this might be by design to sell Akai MPC Fly hardware. In any case, buying at the introductory price has my head spinning at such a good value. Buy it, but don't expect version 1.0 to be a full featured MPC2500. Just expect to make some good beats on it. Great job on first release!

Amazing App for the Basic Features (now if I could get it to save a kit). I would easily give this 5 ⭐️s, but there seems to be a glitch when I'm writing my own kits. If I don't remember to save the NEW KIT after every trigger pad is programmed, I'll lose the whole thing. So far .. and it's been wh? 6 months? .. I've managed to sample in the basics of my own TAMA Silverstar. But that's about it. One other experiment, nice I know what I want and can't do it. Fix it. PLEASE ;(

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I took a chance on this app. Was really hoping to be able to sample from my Apple Music library an tap out some beats in my spare time. After installing, the first thing I see is an alert that this app will not be compatible with future versions of iOS. When I get in the app, all the built in sounds are slowed down sounding. Like REALLY slowed down and distorted. Lastly, I can't "sample" from my library because it says the songs are DRM protected. This was a complete and total waste of time and $$. Wish I could give it a Zero

Inexpensive way to make quality beats!. I've always wanted to make beats as a hobby, without putting a professional amount of money into it. The Retronyms community has finally gotten me into SoundCloud as well!

Pretty good but it's acting up. Love the app and am pumped about the export function and the ease at which I am creating. I am noticing issues when switching thru sequences and the wrong sounds triggering, and now I cannot trigger a sample with hold on, the whole sample plays! Please fix and add a few more options and 5 stars it will be.

Cool sampler but terrible recording interface. This app has a great sampling interface ( love the drag and drop & sample recording ) but the ball has been somewhat dropped with the recording interface. If the recording interface was a little more accurate and had a chop shop like interface this would be a 5 star app for sure. Conclusion This is a great little app to play live and use as a sample trigger but the recording interface holds back its potential of it being a serious producing tool.

Frustrating but has potential. First off, this is an incredible sounding app and has much promise of being an actual tool for a working musician. My problem with it is the recording click track is too faint to hear and use to accurately program beats. They also really need to add Audiobus support to be taken seriously. Any ipad musician could have a field day with audiobus support to integrate with garageband and other compatible apps. If they fix this then I will gladly give it 4 stars instead of two.

Good 1st attempt so far.... Akai, I currently owned the MPC Renaissance and I'm very happy with it I so far, I've also been waiting to purchase the fly hardware but held off till I tried out the software. I only give you guys 3 stars because 4 tracks is not enough and no song mode kills me I shouldn't have to sample a sequence to create a intro or break I really don't know why this wasn't implement this feature is a trade mark of the akai MPC series. Plead update soon...

Not very good. This app is not very good for me. There are far better ones for making beat ideas like figure or easy beats. Also this app won't turn off for me unless I restart my iPad. Very annoying. Hopefully it will get better and akai won't bail on it like they did with synthstation. Also no mute groups as far as I can tell. So if it was another developer making their version of an mpc app it would be decent but from akai it's just weak.

Like the new in app audio feature. The new feature is hella cool and like how the apps that are compatible pull up within the iMPC by way of the sampler. It's almost like AudioBus but within the iMPC app. Still love and will use Audiobus, but to also have the option to sample from another app within the iMPC is awesome!

Put it back in the oven for a bit. This is the third app in as many weeks for me that is truly under done. The pad editor is anemic at best. Produce your samples elsewhere, there's very little help here as far as audio manipulation goes. As far as a beat box full of samples goes, have a ball. If you want a more fully blown beat workstation, look elsewhere. Good sound, lotsa presets, but I'd rather it be empty and do something amazing all by itself than as it sits.

One of very few….. Very convenient for the traveling musician… One major (out of very few) complaints for me personally is that I'm unable to change time signatures (i.e. 3/4, 6/8. 5/4, etc…) If yal can make that happen, that would be super sweet. But other than that, pretty nice app.

Very great!. **update** use tabletop with this its great, there are some pros and cons but you can do a lot more with it! I was shocked to see how much i could do with this app... I made some really good tracks on here. I wish you could record at least 8 tracks... But all in all its really worth it. Ive owned real mpcs and as far as creativity goes and the way you can play with samples this is the same thing.

Nice but needs more tracks, and some polishing!. I was considering buying the MPC fly but I can't do much with only Four tracks. The app has a real nice feel but, it's very limited. I hope Akai will update this baby and it give more functionality..... Only 3 stars for now because I'm anxious and looking forward to the next up date so I can buy the mpc fly and, give it the full five stars . Until then ill stick to the real thing.

Love it!!!. I really like my iMPC. It's so much fun to play around with, it's easy to bring everywhere, and it doesn't crash! It's a great addition to my Tabletop setup. Update: Liked the new updates and features. Sample editing and mute groups is really helpful to my work flow.

Supremely easy to use. Though I don't have a ton of experience with sampler apps - this one was remarkably intuitive out of the box - and I'm already on my way to producing new tracks. As a vocalist I especially appreciate the ease with which I can record vocal samples. Would definitely recommend!

A welcome update. I am really digging the addition of mute groups especially — it makes jamming with the app so much better. It's hard to beat the price — I'd lusted over the MPC hardware for a long time and this does quite nicely on a budget. Looking forward to more updates!!

Not for me. I imagine this app is great for nostalgic producers...however, if you've just begun to create music, then you can find apps better suited for an experience with music creation that is seamless and fluid. IMO: the less steps involved in the process, the better--get right into it. Here are a couple apps that I think are better--iMaschine, DM1; and even GarageBand.

Great app, but.... I wish you could edit the samples after you drop them on the pads. also it would be nice to have the ability to zoom in on the sample as well as,put the effects "per pad" instead of by track. great app tho 4star..

Well Dang!. One of them apps that makes you wonder if the reviews are accurate. Look at it this way, in less than 10 minutes I was jammin. There are limitations yes. But some people really thought a first go round at 7 bucks was going to have the same impact as say a 2000xl. I'm gonna rock with Akai like I always have. As time passes, I see a flawless app that will have every producer want in the app store.

Great app, needs a couple improvements!. This app has been a ton of fun to get some quick ideas down. Very playable and editable. I only wish it was compatible with audiobus and it would be great if it had a song mode to lay down and store sequences in a step pattern. Five stars if you add these features. Otherwise it's a great app!

So close!. Akai, please add the function to edit imported samples. I had to render mix as one sample, copy to pasteboard, then import from pasteboard in sample editor just to chop 1 sample in half. I have been using akai samplers since the 90's and this is such an awesome app. Love the filter but more options would be great. In the 90's this functionality was around 2 grand!! Thanks and look forward to updates!

Extremely difficult to synch/upload samples. You run the risk of wasting a great deal of time on such a simple task, because iMPC is not easily recognized by the computer. 100% fully updated app and OS on both iPad and computer, and nothing is happening between them. On the surface it seems like the perfect app, but forcing users to update via iTunes' now antiquated file org. interface is THE major drawback.

Great MPC for the iPad no problem with the record button.... This makes it so easy to make beats when you wanna kill time. If you have used a MPC before you will feel right at home. For those having trouble with the record button not working, you have to press and hold the play button then press record.

The real deal. This app is full fledge all you need in terms of sampling and beat making in the fly. I'm still intimidated by pro but adjusting to the learning curve with this beast of an app! I find myself switching back and forth discovering new features at every turn

Not ready for release - bugs. Graphics glitches on quantized buttons made me think my iPad was scratched. No difference between play and play start controls (iirc play start is supposed to start the sequence from 1:1 if ur rolling whil play by itself will start play wherever). Where is the bar and beat note insert? Not there, you have to perform to the metronome instead. Also, sample from iTunes library just doesn't work. My tunes are all non-DRM mp3 or wav but this app keeps telling me I have to upgrade them via iTunes. Would not buy again.

A+. iMPC is a ton of fun. The samples sound great and I haven't experienced any latency when playing. This app stands out in several ways including the excellent integration with Soundcloud. Sharing your beats/loops with the iMPC group is easy and it's fun to listen to what others are making with it also. Things I would like to see: -Choke groups -Importing samples from Dropbox -Maybe some sort of song mode for stringing multiple sequences together It's a great app and I'm excited to see more from these guys!

Fix please. Please release a proper fix for this. You cannot expect people to backup and restore their iPad. This can cause other issues with other apps. Other developers acknowledge their bugs and provide fixes quickly. I hope you don't treat your hardware support like this. Over two weeks and no update. Look at BeatMaker 2. It had a bug and was fixed the next day.

FIVE STARS….THAT IS ALL. The moment I have been waiting on for over years! I sold my MPC2000XL last year, not knowing what direction I was going in until Fabian Hamilton (producer of Biggie's joint "Things Dun Changed") put me on the MPC-FLY…well as we all know the MPC-FLY has been delayed AGAIN….so this masterpiece comes in handy while I wait! Now if you excuse me, I got some beats I gotta attend to! AKAI…retronyms….thanks!

Awesome n such. I own an MCP 1k,2k and the fly30 and I love them all but this app makes it hard to enjoy to full potential without an audiobus support! Also stop complaining about midi support buy an mpc fly and get over it. That's true support. I love akai

I Like It. This is good for when I do click tracks while I'm on a gig or playing at church and it's easy to transport. I have only 2 complaints: I need more than 4 tracks (8 would be good) and I need a way to change the time signature ( 3/4, 6/8, etc....). Other than that, I really like this app.

Did they test this thing? Not much.... Cool-looking graphics, nice sounds, and some fun UI features. I made a nice little pattern and went to bed. The next morning, bug city! Sound isn't coming out, the playback bar is jumpy, the record and overdub lights aren't working. Sadly, this is what I expected from Akai. I bought at he intro price, in hopes the bugs will get fixed. If it works out, then I am clever. If not, then I have encouraged Akai's shabby behavior.

Excellent. The included samples alone are worth the price. Sampling from the music library is pretty basic (vs something like the chop lab in BeatMaker2) but is fun and gets the job done quickly. If you have Tabletop already it's a worthy step up from the Gridlok, but even if you don't any MPC fan should pick this up.
