Weather doesn’t work / Sync issues abound. Since the most recent update, Weather doesn’t work on my FR945. The watch simply displays “waiting for data” where Weather info should be displayed. I have tried all troubleshooting, and still do not have functioning Weather since the update. Please fix Weather! I have also experienced intermittent sync issues since the most recent update. These issues seem to resolve, at least temporarily, after taking the following steps: remove watch from GC > quit GC > forget watch from Bluetooth settings > power off iPhone> power off watch> restart watch > restart iPhone > open GC > pair watch to GC. This revolved the majority of my sync issues for the time-being, but HAS NOT fixed Weather. After pairing, Weather will initially display information. You will think all is good, but the info never updates. And eventually, Weather inevitably reverts back to the “waiting for data” message I mentioned above. And you are back where you started. Lots of users experiencing lots of problems since this latest update. Please fix.

Great Motivational Tool. Garmin Connect is a wonderful tool to motivate. It’s really interesting how important a badge can become and the feeling of accomplishment that is felt when you’re able to earn one. The metrics are easy to interpret and are relatively accurate. When coupled with Fenix 5X the GPS metrics are a delight. I look forward to expressing my athletic prowess with the many features offered in the Fenix 5X and am excited at the thought of Garmin Connects potential readouts. And to add to the pleasure, I’ve connected a few family member’s through the app and we now challenge one another. The app offers the ability to share your metrics with those in or outside of your circle. Another great way to motivate you to try harder. I highly recommend a Garmin training device so that you can challenge yourself and others through pure innocent shame or competitive pride while becoming a healthier you. Excellent app.

Watch is great; App needs improvements. I recently switched to Garmin after having Fitbit for years and trying Apple Watch briefly. I love the Garmin watch. It has all the features I want without a bunch of excessive junk. The app, however, I don’t love. My biggest complaint is it seems to be constantly syncing, as in it never completes a sync while I’m viewing my stats on the app. I went for a run for the first time with my watch and I don’t have my stats bc it said I had to sync to the app first. No. Track my run and sync after. I will not stand around delaying my workout while I wait on technology to catch up. I also haven’t quite figured out the interface. It seems straightforward- I think I how where to find something, but then I’m wrong. For example, I wanted to turn off sleep pulse ox to conserve battery while on a trip. It was super simple to turn on, but I gave up on day two of trying to figure out how to turn it off. Fortunately, my battery lasted just fine with it on. I turned off menstrual cycle tracking bc it was completely incorrect. I reported a 28 day cycle and it had a predicted period 6 days after my last reported period. A drag and drop reorder would be nice for the ‘my day’ snapshot. I guess there’s probably a way to rearrange the order but I haven’t figured it out.. UPDATE: I figured out the ‘my day’ reordering. It is a drag and drop but it was phone screen issue and wasn’t working for me. I just deleted everything and added them in the order I wanted.

This app is excellent. So I am completely new to the fitness watch world, automatic dive watches and G-Shocks have been my go to in the past. Smart watches have never interested me because I don’t want to charge the thing every day. With the watch I have I don’t have to worry about that and the information this application gives you is astonishing to me. On a bike ride it shows you where you rode and it also shows you your speed by color overlay on the map. Riding into a 20 mph wind from the south? It shows you how you were slow heading south and fast going north. Want to know your heart rate, no problem. Want to see your speed graphically no problem. Your respirations, check. The list goes on and on. I have only used it for biking, swimming and walking so I have truly not scratched the surface of it. Get the watch, get the app and be happy!!

Almost gave up. I use to run 10 miles easily at a 6:30 mile pace when I was running track and XC. That was my early college years up until covid and school got tougher and I put on a significant amount of weight. I honestly got scared to run again because I could barely run a 800m at a 9 minute mile pace without stopping. My girlfriend got me the garmin 245 music because I told her I use to have one and loved it. I started following the app and calorie counting. I wanted to just put miles on it. After a few weeks to a month I was running 9 minute miles easily and started running further and further. Now I’m at about 8 minute miles and feel more positive to be healthy and looking a lot better. It was a gift I never knew I needed but it pulled me out of a bad place. The watch and app itself works just fine for me, I wish other apps would connect with it like an Apple Watch would, but garmin has always been a very solid brand.

Garmin in General. I recently purchased a Garmin Forerunner 235, and I enjoy everything about it! It is so useful. It is lightweight, tells you your heartbeat, your VO2 max, recovery time, your aerobic training, and more. I didn’t realize all of the features I wanted were on the watch (there is no swimming, but I don’t really care). The app is what makes the watch so cool, and it makes it easy to see your mileage. Also, there are badges that you can get, and it makes the workouts feel like a game sometimes, trying to earn the badges. My mom now really wants one of these watches. I guess the downsides are that the watch dies after around three days, with you recording a workout session in all three days that last for around an hour. I don’t know how accurate the Garmin watch is, but I’m just glad that the features are there, because if I wanted more accuracy I would need to go and make myself uncomfortable for the day (heart rate while sleeping, deep and light sleep tracker, heart rate while running, etc). Sometimes it’s uncomfortable after wearing the watch snug for a couple of days. The “move!” Thing on the watch is a little annoying, but the pros outweigh the cons by far, and you even might be able to disable it. All in all, this is a great brand, and if you are obsessed with health and working out, I would recommend this brand for a lot of people. I got my watch on Black Friday for $150, and I don’t regret it at all.

Unreliable phone connection. Despite many updates, this app never works well for me, regardless of which iOS version I’m using. I use it with an Instinct solar and it keeps disconnecting. I have to reboot the app for it to work again. Since there is no Bluetooth connection indicator on any watch face (it’s in a deeper menu), you don’t realize the connection has been lost. When the app works and you turn off your phone, the watch will notify you that there is no Bluetooth connection. But when the app just randomly stops working, you never get that notification, or any other notification, and that happens a lot. Very frustrating as it’s easy to miss calls and messages since my phone is on silent most of the time. Wish there were more watch faces to choose from and that they would include the Bluetooth icon. Even my old Pebble had that. I would also like to see my phone’s battery level displayed on a watch face. Sometimes the watch battery saver won’t turn itself on at night, and if it does, it will stay in that mode past the designated off time. This is less common but it happens. Love all the features but it would be nice to get what I described above. Please make it less buggy.

Long time user. Overall I really like Garmin app & Garmin products. Am currently on my 5th Garmin watch over 7 year period. I currently use a Garmin 235 and am anxiously awaiting its replacement. I find Garmin Connect has been a very reliable application and has all the data I need. I find it has all features I need and several more that I’ve never gotten into. My only qualm with Garmin over the years is their heart rate measuring devices... to me it’s their weak spot. I have had issues with heart rate straps dating back to my first Forerunner 25 up through my Forerunner 620. I switch to wrist based on 235 and find it’s maybe 90-95% reliable - unfortunately that 5-10% comes at the most inopportune times! Like during the Boston marathon in 2017 or other critical races or workout. Actually it’s the Garmin Connect app that kept me with Garmin running watches. I know Polar does a better job tracking heart rate but I like the Garmin Connect app enough, plus have years of data on it. Am hoping that improvements to the 235 replacement will include better more reliable heart rate tracking...

Just What This Fitness Enthusiast Needed!. I got a Garmin FR645 as a bday gift to myself last June: I run, swim, lift weights, boxing/MMA & just keep active in general. I never realized what I was missing until I upgraded from a FitBit Blaze to Garmin! GPS tracking is on point on the watch & app, training stats are amazing to see where & when I need to adjust intensity & history is great to see how I’ve improved with better tracking abilities from Garmin. Yes, there are some glitches, but nothing to cry or scream about: pretty much everything tracks, monitors & gives guidance where needed. It’s great to pull up stats after a long run to see if VO2 Max is improving, cadence, HR Zones & pace (for those coveted negative splits!) & see how my cross training improves my running. The only down side is sleep doesn’t seem as accurate - it’s shown me asleep when I was watching a movie, but I’m more concerned with the other athletic stats so as long as I’m scraping 6+ hours of sleep I know everything else flows well. I was using MyFitnessPal to track calories consumed which it synced 99% of the time accurately which was nice to see the calories burned/consumed stats. I don’t track there much anymore unless I’m in serious training or trying something new to see how it may affect me but things usually flow between the apps well. Garmin syncs to MyHealth which syncs to my smart scale so everything is together. As long as I can keep active I’ll keep Garmin!!

Rebuild Training Status Functionality ASAP!. I’ve been a Garmin fan since buying my Forerunner 935 on initial release two years ago. I take some ribbing from Suunto (climbing) and Apple Watch (running) friends, but I’ve been 100% pleased with the decision: the 935 is a great piece of tech, and I’m sure the 945 is as well. HOWEVER: the Garmin Connect app seems to be getting more disappointing to use as a training tool with each revision. The prevailing style seems to prioritize oversimplified infographics over actually allowing users to review and interact with their data. As an example, I’ve been religiously using “training status” every day for two years to monitor the relationship between my 7-day training load and my target load (based on integrated firstbeat tables), making training adjustments on the fly... Now, when I open the app, all those brilliantly helpful, adjustable, overlaid charts are gone—they have literally been replaced by a colored icon that says, “Productive.” That icon changes in response to training each day, but I can no longer view the data that underlies it on the fly, rendering this potentially valuable source of insight meaningless within the app. Dev team: you’ve had two years here. Please, please, please stop driving this app towards banal “mass-market cuteness,” and instead, try giving your devoted fanbase more powerful tools to articulate and shape our fitness goals. Would love to see you course correct here.

Great for me. My first Garmin was a Forerunner 610 and it was my absolute favorite watch. Marathons to long trail runs it worked perfectly until one day I hit a tree (embarrassing I know) but I cracked the screen a piece of the screen literally fell off. It still worked for another year! Finally it died and I decided to give the Nike watch a try. I wasn’t crazy about the way it looked and it randomly died on my twice. So I decided to give Fitbit a try... I like Fitbit however, their software on the device has way to many issues for me. And the app leaves your yearning for more. Now this leads me to today. I have a fenix 3 hr and between the device and the app I couldn’t be happier. There are a lot of reviews on here saying about glitches in the app. The occasional slowness to update from my fitness pal is the only issue I have. And I wouldn’t really call it an issue typically I just have to close the app and open it back up. Overall I’ve used a lot of devices that also have apps and this is the best one of them all.

Too many glitches to deserve a good rating at this time. I seem to have at least one issue everyday with this app. I own three different Garmin products. The one I use the most is the Forerunner 945 triathlon watch. At some point almost everyday (ave 6 days a week) my watch becomes disconnected from the app. Unfortunately, it’s not an easy/simple fix. It usually involves me having to turn off my watch for a couple of minutes and turning off/shutting down the app and then back on so that I can sync my device. This usually works, but sometimes it takes several attempts. Not the end of the world, but frustrating never the less. Then I’ll have issues with features on the app. Today’s issue is that the app won’t display the “Intensity Minutes” feature. I cannot figure out how to get it back up. I’ve tried logging out and back in, turning my phone off then on, whatever. My phone did automatically update the Garmin Connect app this morning. I’m sure that’s the problem. I’m still committed to the app, but I wish Garmin would sort this all out. Until then, “Boooo!”

*edit* (Problem solved for now). *Edit/update*: The issue I had turned out to be a bug in the watch’s sensor software, not a Garmin Connect issue. I found a fix on the product support website, and things seem to be working now. I do wish I had been pointed toward this fix a little sooner in interactions with product support. Alas. Hopefully this issue is in the rear view. The app itself mostly works okay, though there are occasional hiccups. (Also found a way to set up via computer, so my bad for thinking I could only set up the watch while using the mobile app.) Original: I mostly enjoy using my watch (Vivoactive 3), but I can’t connect it to my phone right now. Product support had me reset the watch to factory, and now I can’t connect to desktop either, since set up is strictly via mobile. There were some intermittent connectivity issues with iOS 15 (the connection would drop randomly), but eventually it would always connect. Right now my watch is basically bricked. Please update the app.

It would be great if every other update didn’t break something. I’ve been a been a Garmin user for a long time and at times I really question my loyalty because their software updates for devices frequently cause new issues, loss of functions, etc. (Some issues have taken months to resolve, eg when Strava segments updates weren’t transferring to Garmin devices.) Why am I bringing up device software issues on an app review? It’s because the app has the same issues, eg I bought a Fenix 5 about 7-8 days ago and it was working great with this app, I had all the functionality that I was supposed to until I updated the Garmin app this morning. Now the weather and the Physio TrueUp functions aren’t syncing to the watch. All the rest of my software is up to date so it’s not another software issue. Stupid me, for forgetting how many times I’ve updated the app when everything was already good and only to have a month or two until it finally gets fixed. This cycle repeats itself with Garmin every few months. Apparently there is no testing before an update release. As such, I encourage all to ask “is everything working well? If yes, then do I really need to update the app?”

Really, nothing beats a Garmin…or the Garmin app. I had a Fitbit for several years and after it broke, I was planning on getting another. But as I researched the latest Charge model, I saw that it had a /lot/ of features that would’ve been great to have…if I was willing to pay for the premium membership. So, I started researching Garmin, based on the recommendation of several friends who owned them. I got my Forerunner 45s (not their most expensive or high-tech watch, but one I believed would do everything I needed) and haven’t regretted a penny I spent on it. There are no features that you have to pay to get—no fancy memberships to “upgrade” or whatnot—whatever you spend on the watch is paying for everything you get. This app is super helpful for looking at my runs (editing them, etc.), and I plan to stick with Garmin for a long, long time.

PLEASE FIX THESE ISSUES!! 🏃. PLEASEEE. When viewing a completed activity, running, for instance, please add the ability to see the time for 5k/10k/half marathon. I always pull up the mile checkpoint review page to see mile times, i just would love to see another little stat between miles 3 and 4 that says the time in which i ran 5k, and further metric distances as well (i’m using statute by preference in the USA). I would also like to see the ability to gain the same badge multiple times. And at the end of the activity show you new badges as well as your new total of badges of which you have more than one. Annoying to only get them once. Okay cool you ran 10 miles here’s a badge. It would be satisfying and motivational to be able to accrue multiples of some of these. I imagine a lot of people would strive to collect a benchmark 100 5ks or something. Just some things i hope the developers consider. After being suspicious of some of the pace times the display has been showing me, I decided to run 3 miles on a track at an even pace. The watch was almost a full 200m early in telling me I ran 3 miles. That really starts to compound on longer runs. Using ViviActive 3 Music.

getting better again. Latest update seems to have resolved all of the issues below. I am upgrading my rating to 4 stars since the auto syncing is working flawlessly again and when I manually sync it works exactly as intended. The only reason I’m not going a full 5 stars is due to the amount of time it took them to resolve an issue that wasn’t an issue to begin with. Since the last update my FR945 has difficulty maintaining connection and syncing with iPhone. iOS 13 latest version. I have to turn off the 945 and restart just to acquire a connection. Then when I attempt to sync the status bar/circle will reach the halfway point and freeze and eventually fail. I have to repeat this process 3-4 times before getting a full sync. Last night it took over an hour to sync the data. Prior to the latest update there were none of these issues and everything worked great. Seems as though Garmin is going backwards? Oh, and I have gone through and adjusted all of the privacy and Bluetooth settings as Garmin has instructed since the latest release.

90% satisfying. I’m loving my venu 2plus. Almost everything. The Don’t disturb function is one of my issues. I wish there was just a button to turn off and on, like on the iPhone. Instead this sleep /wake thing doesn’t make sense to me. What if I don’t want to get notifications even if I’m awake? Like I’m in a movie or something. Or I got up earlier then I set it up. Etc. I’m aware that I can manually turn it off and on but I always keep track about this sleep/wake settings. My other issue that sometimes when I start running or walking, the watch shows some insane pace, mostly way too slow. For example my average running pace is 10 minute per mile and sometimes it says 20, which is impossible. I usually restart the watch when this happens and then it’s ok but by the time I’m done with that, I’ve already lost 5-6 minutes. I really hope that these issues will be improved, I’ve read other reviewers having the same problems

LOVE it! Great for real life, not just elite. I love the Garmin connect app. I love that I can personalize everything from what I see on the screen for my phone to my watch right from the app. The features are wonderful for training and monitoring. I have used this app now through two pregnancies. It has been nice to watch my fitness and be able to reflect back across the last 3 years to see the difference between each pregnancy. With integration of the body battery, it was fascinating to see how my heart rate variability changed during the last four weeks of my pregnancy. The only thing I wish the app had for the pregnancy piece was a spot to track contractions. That literally has everything else you would need. Now, a request, and not a complaint-would love to see this app integrate with Carbon for nutrition tracking. Thanks, Garmin, for being amazing as always.

Please improve “challenges” page... I love my “My day” page. I love how you can expand and collapse. I like how for more information you can click on individual cards. “Challenges” page in my opinion needs some work from Garmin. I access this page on a regular basis to check my progress. I think it would be nice to see progress of each challenge without clicking on it. I also think it would be nice to have all current challenges displayed on this page, I usually participate in more then just three.. “past challenges” don’t have to take as much screen space as “current challenges”, a link to “past challenges” would have been sufficient… “News Feed” is ok, but not great. But I don’t have good suggestions to make it better… “Garmin Coach”. I don’t use it much so I can’t comment on this page.. “Calendar” is missing something to be useful, don’t have good suggestions…

Second Forerunner in 10 years. Upgraded 5 years ago from 210 to 235. My 210 wrist strap deteriorated beyond usability but the watch was working well. While I was happy with my 210 I upgraded to the 235. I replaced my 235 wristband two years ago as both wrist band keepers broke. Otherwise the strap is 100 times better than my prior Garmin. Very comfortable. I wear my Garmin overnight for the alarm and then for my morning workout. Run, Bike (indoor and outdoor) as well as CrossFit is all I do for workouts and the watch is perfect for these activities. Simple and easy to use. The alarm wakes me but is quiet enough to not disturb my wife. As well it is quickly silenced. The Garmin Connect app works flawlessly. I do not follow any metrics or use it beyond simple activity tracking nor do I wear my Forerunners at work or on weekends as I’m hard on my watches (military) but I will definitely replace it with another Forerunner when the time comes. My only minor gripe is that when bicycling it frequently does not pick up my wrist heart rate as I adjust my workouts based upon my HR zone but not a big deal when cycling. Overall it’s a great product at a great price.

Update screwed everything. When I first purchased this Venus 2 watch, I really liked it. Did not care for the shortage of battery life. I did not like enabling battery saver because I look at my watch frequently and did not want to have to be turning my wrist or tapping on the watch every time I wanted to look at it. Also, the fact that when it did come on, it was only for a split second and one had to tap on it or twist your wrist to get it to come up again for another split second. Then came the first update. It wiped everything off. Wiped out my watch face, wiped out the Bluetooth connection, , wiped out connectivity. I cannot get anything to work. Nothing wants to connect. I tried to get my selected face back on the watch, says it is installed, but it’s not. I can barely see the time (the default face )on the watch. It is so dark it is barely, and I do mean barely legible. Nothing is working and the watch, since I cannot see the face, it is so bloody dark, is totally useless. For the money I paid for this watch, this should not have happened just because of an update. So, it was nice at first, but if this is what happens every time there is an update, you can assume I will not be a happy camper.

Great app that makes fitness functional. This app has been with me for the better part of five years now. I’ve been through two devices, the Garmin Tactix Bravo and the Tactix Delta solar, both great watches with a lot of functionality. However without the use of the garmin connect app I wouldn’t be able to really dial in my training the way I do today. One of the coolest features is being able to import your own Gpx file to the app and side load to your device for custom routes that you can build from various running websites. Additionally the ability to utilize the virtual coaches have helped me become a far better runner than I could have been on my own. By using the coaching I’ve now completed multiple 5ks a 10k and I’m working my way through a half Marathon plan now. Over all this app has a smooth feel. The customizable Home Screen allows me to see all the data that I want and none that I don’t/ or do not care about. I also really like the “social media” part of the app through what’s called “connections”. Me and a few of my buddies are on similar training plans and it’s really motivating to see who’s cranking out the most miles in a week. This is the first review I’ve ever made on an app and that should be pretty compelling information because I’m one of those people who rides off the backs of other honest reviews. If you’re not using this app in tandem with your garmin device, you’re really missing out.

Ok but will never improve. First off it’s not well tested, as bugs slip through which affect obvious functions which can’t be missed. You have to have internet do use any of it Outside that issue it’s fairly solid, but somehow too generic to be useful for any specific question you have. It’s so generic I think it’s impossible for them to do much with it now, other than the low hanging fruit, and I haven’t seen any useful improvement in 2 years. It does save your activities but doing anything useful with them is often impossible. Annoyingly you can’t merge or do many useful edits. And it always has issues syncing, super slow. Stay away from their streaks or similar features. They act like overbearing parents and don’t trust you to track your own activity. Just pray you don’t forget your watch one day, or take a flight, or anything. Eff you garmin, it’s my activity let me do what I want with it. With behavior like that, and the general difficulty of doing much with stats, I’m looking for a alternative watch and app. If apple adds one more feature that I’m missing then I’m out.

More activity options please. I recently upgraded from the Forerunner 35 to the Venu sq. I had an Apple watch for a minute and quickly discovered that it couldn’t do what my garmin did, so the Apple Watch went back and the Venu sq was purchased. Still trying to decide if i love the Venu Sq, as the Forerunner was so much simpler to use, but the Venu provides so much data that i love, like stress tracking, O2, etc. I really wish the Venu had more exercise options like HIIT or “functional”strength training. The strength training option from Garmin is frustrating with the reps, just simply time my workout. I wish setting up my walk/run intervals while running was simpler than going into another menu. Why isn’t that option there when i go into run? I can’t seem to figure out how to pause a run. Does it auto pause? What happens when i have to wait at a traffic light? Can i scroll through my text messages. Some just show half a message. Why can’t i scroll down? The watch just isn’t very intuitive. I’ll keep reading the manual, but i think improvements could be made. If there wasn’t so much other data that i like, i would be tempted to go back to my Forerunner. 🤔

Premium equipment, lackluster App. I have been using my new Forerunner 265 for ~2 weeks now and I love the watch, but the Connect app has been a little frustrating. With how powerful and capable my watch is I am surprised that data isn’t presented in a way to break down all the details and help me learn and improve my fitness level, sleep, and habits. Things I’d like to see improve: 1. Weekly and/or monthly summaries that compare sleep data with training load/stress. There is plenty of capability here but I would like help identifying trends and understand if I’m overreaching or not doing enough. 2. All the right pieces are in the performance stats “training readiness”, “training status”, and “training effect” but they are presented in a way that doesn’t help show trends or help make good judgment how you can train better. Data is there, presentation is lacking. 3. There should be a workout option for spin bikes like Peloton and Echelon that displays real time heart rate. If I could at least view my heart rate on the watch while recording the workout that would be extremely helpful. I have used “indoor cycling” for these workouts and it seems it’s meant to work with the Trax app so the distance stays zeroed out and there is just a time countdown with no HR displayed. 4. A journal questionnaire that could be filled out everyday to help identify trends with sleep and fitness. Overall, I’m very happy with my watch but I would like to see the app get some improvements.

Love it - but. I love Garmin and everything about my 935. It has about near all the activities I’d ever want. The only thing is Garmin exports to about near ever cardio based app there is but no lifting apps (that I’m aware of). I use Strava to compete with my brother, no issue connecting. I use Komoot to make routes, no issue there. But I LOVE JEFIT, a lifting tracking app that generates workouts for me and tracks my progress. The issue here is Garmin HAS a strength app that I use, but neither Garmin or JEFIT connect to each other. So I end up having to track my lift sessions twice. Once in app with JEFIT as I go along and once on my watch so the activity is tracked in Garmin. This works but it’s a round about way to do it. Id much rather track it on my phone and have it sync to Garmin afterwards. What’s important is Garmin tracking it, because I want the intensity minutes logged. But if ur strictly cardio based, you’ll love this.

For all of life…. This app makes all the amazing functionality of the fenix 7 (and I’m sure other devices) easy to use, review, expand, and deploy for many parts of life. I say this because the feedback from my sleep quality (duration, quality, and HRV) has literally changed my life. I wouldn’t say I was a heavy drinker, but it became totally clear how one or two beers in the evening affected my sleep, and the next day my training readiness would be in the toilet. Figuring out sleep, rest, training readiness, diet, and all of that has helped me beyond just my training. But I have also used the coaching to get back to some semblance of conditioning. I was a long-time triathlete and gave that up with some moves and a passion for rock climbing. And I’m still clawing my way back to a reasonable level of cardiovascular health with great programming from the coaches and Garmin. Really helps me to just get up and do what it says when I’m in an environment that doesn’t pull me out the door every day as it did where I used to live. Thanks for it all.

Bought a FR245 to train for a marathon. 4 Stars - Jan 2020 update - In January my iphone upgraded to ios13 and since then my FR245 continues to disconnect from the app and I need to repair them every day. I used the instructions recommended, kudos to Garmin for acknowledging this problem. It’s a real hassle so far, not thrilled about it and haven’t fixed the disconnect on my phone yet. 5 Stars- The app provides tremendous amount of useful information. I enjoy the format compared to Fitbit in every way. The app is customizable to each persons preferences in terms of what you want to see and in what order. Works seamlessly with Strava and Myfitness Pal. I’m enjoying it very much and I find the app to be very satisfying. -I love how as I read my stats, I can also read about what statistics mean and how Garmin calculates them so seamlessly in the app. -I never quite figured out how to use the Garmin coach for marathon training plan in that... I was hoping for interactive videos and audio commands, haven’t figured it out yet and used other training plans for the Marathon. I may try it for a different goal I set for myself to be seen.

Very well designed for somewhat serious runners. I have been using Garmin 645 for about 4 weeks and I really like it. I primarily use it for running, so cannot comment on its utility for strength training. As regards running, I run around 20 miles a week and training for half marathon. I am using the ‘coach’ feature and it is really helpful. I don’t have to spend hours for planning the workouts. The ‘coach’ does it for me. It adapts the upcoming workouts based on current performance. I find the various statistics that Garmin provides useful. However, I doubt if a beginner would need them. They might get overwhelmed or bogged down with such info overload. I don’t think beginners use such sophistication. Until I started long runs (up to 10 miles) I was using Vi earphones. That’s the best thing happened to me in recent times. It was great motivator and made me coming for a run each morning. But it is not accurate and detailed as Garmin. So I switched and it’s a bitter sweet feeling. I am keeping one star because I feel Garmin can do better with the coach feature.

Garmin Connect Newbie. I’ve owned various Garmin devices for years. I never liked the “ANT” products. I never liked any of the software mobile/PC. My wife is a Triathlete and has all the Garmin “stuff” you can purchase. I saw from her experience how improved the Garmin software experience is. I own a iPhone X. She purchased the V4 for me Christmas. I was training for a February marathon. I have been very impressed with the software. In the past 2 months maybe 3 times I’ve had to do the full Bluetooth, Phone, watch, shutdown restart. I’ve seldom had to resync. The software I think is amazing. It tells, tracks, shows more than I could ever want. It is like an onion. It has layers and layers of information. My wife’s group included me in in one of their “Challenges”. That function works perfectly. I’ve never used the calendar but it seems to keep track of me to some degree anyway. I normally am a “Big Brother” is out to get me. I threw caution to the wind for the Marathon and turned on all the sharing with Apple Health and all the Garmin Connection software. There was a TON of bio data Garmin wanted. I don’t know if that has anything to do with the software running so well and keeping me up to date.

Please Update Your App. I never write reviews and am only writing this in the hopes that someone, anyone, at Garmin will read it that can change things. I use Connect quite a bit for tracking runs and workouts. The functionality is there but the app is not all that intuitive and the design is wildly out of date. Which I was willing to overlook because the app functioned like it was supposed to. Recently though, tracking my workouts has become somewhat frustrating. It’s minor but when you edit an exercise it constantly glitches out and redefines another exercise that you weren’t trying to edit. It seems to have something to do with exercises that target similar muscle groups or have similar names. If you want things to be correct then you have to manually create the exercise and reorder the list the way you want. This wasn’t an issue a month or so ago so I assume a recent update screwed things up. Garmin just seems slow to respond to things like this and there’s no easy way to submit a bug report. Which would be a very nice feature. I’ll gladly delete or update this review if, and when, they respond.

Great App, but need to access PC for all functionality. The functionality of the app is good, you can upload and view your recent data/ride/activity seamlessly with the WiFi/ Bluetooth functionality. The reason for the three stars is that the App does not offer all of the functionality of the Connect website; specificity the “Elevation Correction” function. In order to accurately reflect the elevation data, one must log onto your PC after every activity and manually check the Elevation Correction box. It would be a nice upgrade to be able to do this step from the App so the results from the days activities are corrected and immediately accurate. Especially since the App can upload to other sites (Strava); having inaccurate data should be able to be fixed from the App, not just corrected when we log in from the website that basically has the same look/feel and ALMOST the same functionality.

Always down. The app has been super buggy this year. It goes through long periods where I can’t connect. It often says they are performing maintenance and to try again later. The next day same error, so I look to see if there is an app update. It seems like there is updated version every 2-3 weeks now but the orate never describes what they are fixing. I update the app, but then usually still can’t connect for another week. Still couldn’t connect yesterday or today. The error says they are experiencing server connectivity issues. Now the latest issue is that it keeps losing Bluetooth connectivity with my watch. Contacted Tech Support and I have to delete the watch in the app and in my Bluetooth and set it all back up again. Very time consuming, and it keeps happening. Very annoyed by how often Garmin is “down for maintenance” for days and the requesting requests to re-authenticate, approve the terms, and set up the watch again. This was a stable app for over a year and now it never works when I need it to.

The best health tracking app - hands down!. I must start off by saying I love this app, it is my go to and probably the one I spend the most time in! Some improvements are still needed: 1. Allow users to customize sleep hours! My goal is 7 hours but Garmin doesn’t allow this setting to be modified! You only have 8 as an option I tend to never make this goal which throws off my daily card showing that I made all of my goals! My health and fitness team recommends 6-9 hours I’m not certain if this is a general health standard but Garmin should at least allow us to set it within this range! 2. The watch menus “in the app” -can use a overhaul “Activities,Apps and More” should be collapsed as a single section which includes “data fields” and “widgets” currently they fall under appearance! I get it Garmin is trying to make it simpler for non-technical users however, I think with less menus and more grouping it would improve workflow! Btw, it used to be this way they changed it some time a go! 3. The App Store needs to be more integrated! It seems that Garmin should let the app include apps from the AppStore without launching a browser within the app! I would suggest putting the App Store directly below the watch on the main menu, allow the api to talk directly to the store and have it better embedded into the app! Overall I can live with the app without these features however it would be nice to see them in a future release!

Connect!. What a great name for this app. I really feel like it’s helped me connect with what’s going on with me on a physical level, with different metrics and helpful blurbs about things like sleep quality, body battery, recovery times, pulse oximeter, heart rate etc. Feeling wiped out? Check my body battery and see I’m under 10, it’s a funny thing but seeing that readout kind of gives me permission in my brain to prioritize rest instead of just slogging forward. I bought a garmin descent mk2i for the functionality on the device itself (which is extraordinary) but am now hooked on all the functionality the device AND the app seamlessly provide. Here’s a good example, I can’t wear my watch to track Brazilian Jiu Jitsu sessions because it would probably get torn off my wrist, but after class I can add that workout through the app. Keep up the great work Garmin!

Garmin Instinct - Great app and better watch. Recently got an instinct for Christmas. After wearing none stop for almost 3 weeks I love it. It has everything I want from a smart watch with nothing I don’t need. When it says “tactical” it’s not some typical sales gimmick. This thing has modes to be compatible with night vision, accurate gps, three different parachuting modes (HAHO,HALO, and static line), and a stealth mode that masks all wireless signals. Also the battery life is 4-6 days, and it charges in the time it takes me to complete my hygiene routine. I am not a fitness app kinda guy, but this app is great. Easy to use and fluid. Helps me keep track of my sleep, stress levels, hydration, weight, and heart rate. In doing so I have set and achieved goals, using this app, which have formed much better habits for me. This app really helps you hold yourself accountable with how you use, abuse, and maintain your body.

Works pretty well 90% of the time. I have Bluetooth connectivity problems every few weeks where it won’t automatically upload my roadies from my Edge 520. Not sure if it has to do with updates, or restarting the phone, or whatever. Usually, once I restart both my phone and my GPS, it connects up no problem. I also use it for connecting to my vivosmart watch/ HR monitor. Works pretty seamlessly for tracking sleep, steps, activities, etc. I use a Garmin index scale to track my weight, body fat %, hydration ,etc. and it works well to keep all that data together. I use a different app (MyPlate) to track calories, and for some reason it doubles whatever I’ve burned. Typically, if I ride and burn 2000 calories, GC will tell my iPhone health app that I’ve burned 4000, even though it’s showing 2000 in GC. If you’re a garmin fan like me, this app is a must have for stats tracking. However, it’s buggy and needs to be updated.

Great multi tool. I wanted a watch that was a tool to help monitor sleep, workouts, outdoor activities, heart rate, while also playing music without the need to strap my phone on somehow. I’ve already used the watch for several activities including row, run, walk and the metrics measures by the watch are better than I expected. I’m still finding the capability of the Connect app but I was looking into doing a 5k this spring and was surprised to find the 5k coach. Battery life and the claim of 500 songs are why it’s 4 stars. I’m not seeing a way to get the 7 days battery unless I strictly use it as a watch and not monitor activities. Music storage is not what was advertised. Maybe advertise it can hold X amount of hours of music because I went to building playlists and it filled up in about 110 songs. I will be checking to see if the length of 1 list just cut out the whole thing and I’ll update if I increase the amount stored. Overall I’m pleased with my VivoActive 3 Music watch and The Garmin Connect app and I’d recommend it to those looking for a multi tool kind of watch.

Just does not work consistently. I am a Garmin Fan Boy. I have used their product both watches and bike computers for years. I like the Ecco system and I like the hardware functionality. However, the connectivity has been consistently and very disappointingly mediocre at best. I recently got the Garmin Edge 830 and it worked reasonably well and now I literally have not been able to connect the device to the app for a couple of weeks. This may finally be the straw that breaks the camels back and may return the Edge 830 and abandon Garmin devises for Wahoo. I hate that this is the case as I am very happy with the hardware but the software ecosystem is just plain and simple unreliable. It is Bluetooth and 2019 why can the software engineers not figure this one out. I know I am not alone. More and more people I ride with are abandoning Garmin because they can’t figure this out. I even had a bike shop that carries both Garmin and Wahoo tell me not to get the Garmin and to get the cheeper Wahoo because they are getting so many complaints about this. I guess I should have listened. This may be my first app review but it is so frustrating that I had to share.

Activities. Update- worse app on my phone that gets used daily. For the price of the watch this app should work great. Too many issues to list, makes owning their watch a drag and will switch to Fitbit on my next watch. My suggestion for the company would be to open your competitors apps and see how simple and easy to use they are and try to be better than them. Instead they throw everything and the kitchen sink at the app in hopes something works and most of it doesn’t. Just a waste of a good watch if the interface is lacking. Just a suggestion- under activities when you look at what you've done under any of the activities it uses the "last" 7 days, 4 weeks, or 12 months. Why not break it down just by a set Monday-Sunday week for the 7 days, an actual month for the 4 weeks, and an actual year for the 12 months. I feel everything else in our lives is set up with those time standards why not have the app set up like that too. Would make looking at that part of the app more enjoyable and user friendly. Everything else is great.

Worth it!!. A couple weeks ago a friend of mine talked me into participating in a sprint distance triathlon. Often I’d joke around with friends that my three least favorite activities are running, cycling and swimming. However, I am very competitive and very much into fitness. So I got talked into this triathlon. I knew I had to prepare but I had no idea how to. When all else fails, data is the key. While looking for the ideal fitness tracker, most of them seemed lackluster. When I found Garmin, and realized that they make much more than just GPS devices, I knew that it’d be worth a try. Ordered a Garmin Forerunner 735xt and the running sensor and off I went on my journey. Everything about this app is awesome! From the recovery advisor to the map of your run. The graphs that I show my girlfriend/trainer so that she can help me get better are easy to understand. It feels like it uses minimal battery in the background even when on constantly. Solid app, great hardware, flawless connectivity so far and I recommend it to all my friends and training partners!

Used 2 garmin products and over them. I have a vivoactive 3 for 1.5 yrs. Until recently I owned a edge 520 for roughly 4 years. The 520 does the basic features ok but when you want to use an advanced feature, it might work it might not. Both are plagued with constant glitches. I couldn’t handle the edge 520 reoccurring issues. When the charging usb port broke I got a refurbished 520 and gave it to a friend who was new to cycling. I switched to a wahoo roam and I am problem free!! I still wear the vivoactive 3. My watch always had one or two nagging quirks. Now it continues to have constant connection issues since iOS 13 was released. I’ve gone through the suggestions garmin sent out to fix this issue but still nothing. 🙄 Furthermore I had great customer service 4ish years ago. The last time I called my experience was the opposite. Things happen and people can have bad days. Why am I bringing up customer service? If you buy a garmin product you’ll have to use the garmin connect app. When issues arise you’ll have to call garmin. I know this is supposed to be a review of the app and I am giving examples of the products issues. In the end who knows if it’s a garmin connect issue or a 520/vivoactive issue.... who cares when the stuff isn’t dependable and doesn’t work as advertised. If anyone reads this the take away thought is my garmin experience has been sub par due to numerous glitches. They kinda work 🤷🏻‍♀️. Good luck

Please Read, and consider adding!!. I think this is a 5 star level app, but it misses the ability to do 2 things!! So if u would could u please add in these two things: 1) the watch I have had the ability to recognize I’m sleeping and the ability to see hey I’m asleep, what zone I’m in and etc. so is there a way we can establish its ability to recognize my naps. I sleep 4 hours and then wake up almost every night. But then when I try to go back to sleep 30 minutes later or during the day it doesn’t document my sleep. I for this because my average sleep is at 3-4 hours, but I don’t know how much I’m actually sleeping. I’d appreciate you updating this, as I’ve also seen multiple people talking about this via the internet. 2) and I think this is the bigger of the two. The workouts don’t have enough options, it’s like u can run but u can’t run and swim. It’s like u can swim but u can’t swim and workout. I’ve been searching how to do this on the internet, but everything is just running or just swimming or just etc. I think if you added this in at the least I’d be extremely happy. Thank you so much for reading my review and I’d appreciate you guys putting in these few features!

The app, the watch or the phone?. I had this app and wore the watch years ago (vivofit 2) but got frustrated with myself; self competition got old. My original review was a 1 star (after an update) because I couldn’t edit or find runs that came out as walks (9 min miles aren’t THAT slow) and my HR was missing most of the time. Fast forward to the last month where I’m back on a health kick and have moved to a farm, curious to see what my activity level is. The app is slow to sync, slow to look at different days and activities. It still shows workouts as as a walk or shows I walked 47 min only going .03 miles....I walk the perimeters of our fields with our dogs that I know are approx 1.5 miles depending on the route. So what the heck? Is it that the app is old, or the watch is old or that I’m on an iPhone 7 which seems to work fine with just about everything else. I’m still not satisfied with this product-5 years later. On the flip side I now know my general step count per day and a general idea of calories burned even if it doesn’t see my workouts and me sweating to the sound of my lungs collapsing under all this heat in TN!

Some features lacking from other apps.. I have 2 main complaints with the app…one is that you have to log into the app and “accept” personal records in order for the watch to recognize a new one later on. Logically it would seem that if that’s my PR then it should automatically recognize it without me having to take the step to accept it. It would make more sense to have the ability to decline the PR after the fact if someone wants to rather than requiring everyone else to “accept” them. The other issue is that there’s no way to view your 5k/10k time on a longer run unless it’s a personal record (and you’ve accepted all previous PR’s) or you are physically looking at the watch during your run to see the time when it hits 3.11 or 6.22 which is just annoying. For example, if you’re like me and have too much OCD to log a 3.11 mile run and instead choose to run 3.5 miles, you can’t see what your 5k time was after the fact unless it was a personal record. Many others online have the same complaint and the only workaround I’ve seen is downloading a competitor app and synching your watch to that as well. It just seems silly that Garmin doesn’t have 5k/10k times viewable on each run since it’s such a popular analysis point and is obviously an issue for many users.

Love the watch, not so much the app. I purchased the Fenix 6s a few weeks ago and have been loving the watch with all its bells and whistles. The watch and app is an upgrade compared to Polar, however I wish there were more options to customize things. Like being able to create certain activities (or change the names of the provided activities), or adding additional bed and awake times (I have different wake times on days off), or being able to record and separate naps from overnight sleep and have that data compute to your sleep score. Supposedly, according to the Garmin website, the sleep and wake times that you key in are fixed in that even if you take a nap any recorded data would be in ADDITION to what was computed overnight. Wrong. I took a 2+ hour nap and the data OVERWROTE my overnight sleep. Which is very frustrating when the data is being used for tracking purposes. Aside from that, I find the app is very limited in its ability to customize or tailor to personal preferences. Perhaps I am just unfamiliar with Connect but I do not want to have to download all or any of the the other Garmin apps JUST to be able to get one or two things to my liking. My phone doesn’t have the space and I don’t like having to constantly switch between apps.

Good but can be so much better. May not deserve a 1 star but the fact there are so many problems/bugs that they haven’t addressed in years makes it a one to me. The first is the notifications. If I get one in anything it’ll show as a very large number of notifications and won’t go away unless I tap on the top left icon. Second are the charts that are messed up when going in my run details. Might as well forget trying to look at pace chart. For some reason it wants to show pace as slow as 30 minutes a mile even if you never went that slow. For instance I may do a run and the slowest I go is 8 minutes a mile but since they pull the chart down to 30 minutes a mile you can really tell anything about your pace. The other thing they need to do better on is making it more sociable. They have basically accepted strava as taking its business but if they would make a better screen with social interaction and better search engine for friends it would be great. They also need to make it to where people can use their phone as their GPS device in their app but I doubt they’ll ever do that as they want people to buy their devices but the fact is most casual runners will never buy one cause they want their phone with them.

Watches are great, app is good. I use the Garmin Fenix 6 and I could not recommend it more. I’ve ran with it each day for 3 weeks and have also done kayaking and biking. I have only needed to recharge it twice, and the only negative has been a slight lack of tracking under even a few trees. As for the app, I would give it 4.5 starts if I could, but have given the benefit of the doubt. All in all it provides very useful information about your performance and overall health, but is slightly lacking in User Interface as opposed to other activity apps. The graphs are often annoying because I have not found out how to choose a point on the graph to see a value, you can only see the trend roughly plotted and guess (this goes for paces from your runs and also things like your heart rate throughout the night). I also find the calendar view largely useless, especially when compared to something like Apple’s activity rings. Don’t get me wrong though, the data Garmin provides is second to none, but largely a function of which watch you have purchased. In summary, Garmin provides as accurate and useful of info as any company does in the sports watch realm, but could stand to improve accessibility and aesthetics for some of that data in the app.

Hate it. Dude perfect could make a better app. Oh wait they did. Ha! In yo face Garmin people!. It doesn’t load. At all. I waited forever. Nothing. I hate this app and it should never have been on the App Store. It’s the only way to control my garmin. But no, 😑it doesn’t work. My moms works perfectly, but no, no, no, mine stinks. Why do y’all hate me that much that you make it so I can’t control my watch? I haven’t had a watch in 4 years because of it. I can’t have nice new ones like you millionaires do. oh wait, you’re not millionaires, cause this app stinks!!! But seriously dude, this app is terrible. Maybe you should rename it to something else instead of Garmin. Here are some ideas: Lamein, Stinkin, doesn’tworkin, loadin forever and Ever and everin. Even though I hate this app I wanted to let you know that, I’m never gonna give you up never gonna let you down never gonna run around and desert you never gonna make you cry never gonna say goodbye never gonna tell a lie and hurt you bud um ch. Have a great day. Hopefully by the end of it you can create an idea for a better app. But for now, I’m stuck not knowing the time for the rest of my life while our school clocks broken. Sincerely, Someone 🎩

Please support Chinese Japanese and Korean notification. Dear Garmin developers, I like my Garmin watch, thanks for the hard work. However, I found it is very unconventional that messages in Asian languages can’t be displayed, for example, Chinese, Japanese, etc. Although we live in other countries and speak mainly English, but we still have deep bond with our mother Country. I found there are a lot of such complaints about this issue for a long time, but unfortunately it hasn’t been resolved. I understand that Garmin is pricing differently in Asian countries (more expensive), but only Notification in Asian languages would not hurt your market but bring more customers in English-speaking countries. A lot of our Asian peoples returned the purchased product after finding this issue or not recommending to their friends. I will give five stars after the problem is solved. Thanks.

My day glitch. Mostly this app is awesome there are a few bugs but that’s to be expected. I’m pretty happy with the functionality. I have a Vivoactive 3 & an Index S2 and they pair really well, gives me all the stats I need. I can create workouts and send them to my watch and edit if I do more sets, log walk/run/treadmill. Health stats are good too, heart rate, sleep data, bmi, body fat & muscle all accurate. Overall a really good picture of my fitness in an easy to navigate app.

Bugs in update. Latest app update has bugs. Watch is correctly recording my steps and steps are syncing through Garmin onto MyFitnessPal but my steps aren’t actually showing on GarminConnect app. Overall the app has a lot of capabilities but they are difficult to find. Sleep tracking could display times in week view more clearly. Calorie tracking seems surprisingly accurate for me, I’m not sure if people with less muscle would find the calorie count an overestimate for them. If you accidentally delete one of the displays from the app, there doesn’t seem to be a way to get it back again. Overall this app has some positives and negatives.

RED FLAG!!. After buying a Venu Sq, decided to install the Garmin App 😩👎👎 I should have listened to the negative reviews. 1st - the app needs all the personal information that was already saved in watch (sync problem one). After Bluetooth connection to watch, sync icon just keeps spinning, and spinning, and spinning. (Sync prob two). Activities don’t show in app.(Sync prob three). App then changes watch from 24hr to 12hr time. Sleep monitor does not seem to work. Red Flag - app is not listed in iOS “Mobile Data” menu, and cannot have data turned off or location services denied.🤔 APP says “Not compatible” with Venu Sq with basic functions. App NEEDS internet to display heart monitor from watch?🤷‍♂️🤔🤷‍♂️🤔 Red Flags everywhere on this app. There’s no privacy for your fitness/health status. Definitely a major DATA MINER.🙄 Might try the Jr. version, as all kids data in Australia have massive privacy protections by Law. Shame on Garmin for such a bug riddled spyware app, especially in 2022🤦‍♂️App has been deleted!

Love the app but one thing pls. Hey team, love the app and have been using it for years. With the recent overhaul though there is one frustrating glitch. When I view a segment in my activity and rotate my phone to the side to get the full assortment of details, the list of attempts no longer rotates to a horizontal view. I’ve made sure my screen is not locked to vertical and have closed and reopened the app multiple times. If you could fix this is would be amazing. Thanks!

Some issues. This app is okay. I don’t use it much but leave it open all the time because without it being open, my watch will not sync, which is an issue in itself since it means I lose phone battery. However the main issue is something that happened today. I was trying to reset an alarm after taking forever to try and find where to set an alarm due to how inaccessible the app is. When I found the alarm section, it wouldn’t let me change the alarm saying “all set up has been completed”. This is so annoying because I need this alarm - this app needs to be more accessible asap.

Good overview of fitness and vitals. Update 25 February 2020 Have been using the app for a few months now with my vivosmart. Connection problems are a major issue, even after following Garmins instructions. Being a shift worker i regularly change my sleep times. The app and or vivosmart device has connection failures every time I do this. Also if I switch on/off pulse Ox have same issues. And have to reset my device or forget Bluetooth device and start from scratch. Very annoying. The app needs to handle shift work better, I’m sure that i am not the only shift worker with a Garmin device! Great app, being a shift worker has helped me to get better quality sleep and know which supplements and lifestyle changes work best. It is necessary to change your sleep times in the app for my device to pickup when I am sleeping. Where as my old Fitbit didn’t need this, but only a mine inconvenience. Pulse Ox is ok, out by 2 to 8% when compared to the transmittance ones at work but only about 2-3% out when compared to similar reflectance types. Information displayed in easy to read format.

Worst app I own. The app seems focused o trying to turn garmin into Twitter or instagram or Facebook, first things that come up are social connection options etc etc instead of functions like calendar or showing you where you can sync . Everything seems to require four steps to get to it . And then a key piece of functionality that would be basic and useful is to be able to plan workouts in the calendar in the app and not on the basis of some workout pls of the internet but just putting in going for a run x number of times per week. If that functionality exists it’s frigging hard to find. For those reasons I wouldn’t buy another garmin product

Generally Happy but Last Week a Nightmare. I’ve had my Garmin Vivimove HR for a good couple of years ago and it does all that I need or expect it to. The iTunes app is fine as well and has - until now - mostly worked very well. However for at least a week now the app and associated website have been “down for maintenance”. Hence the whole underlying support structure for processing of data, etc is inoperative. I cannot recall ever seeing an established online company being so paralysed by such a fault or meltdown. There seems to be no way for a user to attempt any troubleshooting (presumably because everything is “under maintenance” 🙄). Surely the least Garmin could do is email or text their customers to explain the situation and give some kind of prognosis.

Love it but it stops opening. I love Garmin and I love this app but lately some days I go to open it and nothing shows up. I have reset my phone several times and changed from wifi to phone internet several times but it still doesn’t work. Then it will randomly start working again. I’ve had Garmin for several years and it’s only in the last few months that this problem has started.

Nice. Nice app lots of Data provided everything one would need. But it would be a lot better if you could change the watch activity Data field in the app instead of just within the Watch and Gamin Pay is not used by many banks in Australia so I think giving Google pay as a option would be great. Having to have phone location services on all the time to get weather is a pain, while using the app as a option would be better. For charging the Watch USB-C Please and be able to see battery % on IOS battery widget.

Love this app!. It’s super easy to create training sessions using the app and then send to the watch by syncing. I am a runner and I find I can tailor the session to suit my needs, whether it be based on time, distance, pace or a mix of all of these. I also love the “lap button to end” feature which gives a little more flexibility if needed. Learning how to properly use my Garmin device (735xt Forerunner) and program training session on the app has made all the difference to my performance. I don’t need to think about anything once I’ve got my workout on my watch: I just run and my watch tells me what to do! When I’m done I can compare the stats with previous workouts to monitor progress. So much to love about this app: I could write an essay!!

Issues. On my 2nd Garmin VivoActive HR now as my first one became “un-waterproof” and gave up the ghost. To be fair to Garmin, with proof of receipt they replaced it with no issues. Here are my recent problems/bug bears with Garmin connect and my vivoactive HR: 1. Had to re-sync the vivoactive to the Garmin connect app three times now because of Bluetooth connectivity issues. Every time having to reset it to default settings, losing my apps etc. on my phone as well as all my settings. 2. When using the running app the distance shown on the screen while running isn’t true and when finishing the activity the correct distance is only correct once uploaded to Garmin connect 3. There is no Garmin app for circuit training or HIIT. 4. Some Garmin apps keep disappearing, where’s the strength app gone? 4. The Garmin Connect app for the phone itself isn’t very easy to use. If problems keep persisting I may find myself walking away from Garmin and trying another brand.

Great until updates 😕. Love my Garmin watch and have loved the app. The badges are motivating (but annoying that different watches have different badges though...) and It really makes me pay attention to my overall health. However After recent update my phone keeps wanting to reinstall the app and it doesn’t recognise my device - even if I logged in an hour ago. I had no issues until update. Quite frustrating. Left app for a few weeks to see if bugs were sorted but it’s still not fixed. I have deleted, reinstalled, restarted etc. Would love this to be sorted so I can enjoy app again fully.

Great App when it works. I have a Vivofit4S. I love it, the functionality and the information on the app is great. I like the detailed sleep analysis and also monitoring of stress levels. However since I have had the watch (a few times a week) I have to start from scratch with setting up the phone (all the data is there when it connects). Many times it says the watch can not connect to the app despite the watch and phone being paired and connected. Once this bug is fixed five star app all the way.

6 months on doesn’t work like it did. I got given this for Christmas 2018, by June it had stopped recording my sleep telling me I wasn’t wearing it at night, which I was. It also stopped auto updating to the app so I have to now manually sync it every time I want to down load. It then began to “forget” everything I’d sync’d with it. I contacted Garmin who said nothing g about the lack of sleep recording but did tell to delete the app and reinstall as it wasn’t connecting with the servers. I did this it worked in so far as remembering data but it has never auto sync’d again, I still do it manually which now it’s causing the battery to run out quicker and it loses time which only restores to current time when I sync it. It started recording sleep again for a couple of months but as of last week it’s no longer recording sleep again and it’s not remembering any of the the data I sync. I did a sync just now and there’s no step, sleep or calorie history data. I really don’t want to have to keep uninstalling and reinstalling my app every few months. Annoying there’s no feedback on why it’s no longer recording sleep data even though I’m wearing it at night.

Never syncs. The only reason I buy this watch is it’s tiny and suits my needs and that’s the time, I’m in about my 5th one due to loss, broken or fallen off but 1 thing they all have in common is about 2 months after you purchase them they fail to Sync. I’ve written so many times about this and it never gets sorted. So if your wanting to use it to track data don’t bother. This review is coming from more then enough experience. Garmin need to stop doing software upgrades that render your existing watch useless other then telling the time. And just like that. I delete the app. Try it all again and I can’t get past the watch face section. You’re lucky to get 1 star. Useless mob

Decent, but flawed. Just switched to Garmin after years of being fed up with Fitbit. Thanks to this app, first impressions were not good. Repeated errors connecting to servers, and setup steps simply not working (the solution was to just try again an hour later). Once it was setup, it’s… ok. Easy enough to use. Not everything was where I expected it to be, but I’ll get used to it. Biggest complaints are: why am I almost forced to setup the safety features? Sure I can ignore this step, but then I’m stuck with a permanent notification that I still need to do it. Why no option to opt out? Also, the weather… awful and uselessly inaccurate. The current temp seems to grab its data from atop a nearby mountain, not even close… but the forecast is accurate but that makes sense. Edit: recently it’s randomly stopped recording distance for walks, even though it records the gps perfectly, so one star off for that. Also worth noting that Garmin provides approximately zero support in Australia unless you own their more expensive premium products, so if you’ve got Vivosmart 5 like me, good luck getting help with the many problems.

Good app in terms of features. Good app in terms of features, but when it comes to syncing, it has issues frequently. Not to mention making you take the watch off and plug it into the charger so it will sync again with the app. Also when you want to edit the day and keep the order the widgets appear the in the app for the next day-it resets the next day... also in terms of maintenance awareness- it doesn’t inform you how long it will be- just says soon and it’s already been three days. If Garmin has had a Ransomeware attack, it should inform its customers. Not put it under the guise of “maintenance”.

Latest update killed the app. This is always a buggy app but it’s getting worse. Often looses all your data and you have to start from scratch. Looses sync with watch often and have to delete app and factory reset watch to reconnect them. Now 1 minute after this latest update the app is completely dead and had to delete app to fix it. Was going to continue with Garmin after breaking my Apple Watch. However this does not compete with Apple. Also Garmin pay worked in the beginning now it’s stopped and their is no support for this that I can find. Garmin blames the retailer and user error only. Probably the worst piece of tech I have purchased. If it had worked I would have bought several of their watches. Unfortunately going to have to return to the extremely fragile Apple Watch that at least does what it says on the box

What is wrong??. I have had a Garmin watch for over 6 months. I have spinal injuries so my goals for walking are 0 (zero) steps and I don’t use the running or other exercise goals. The sleep goal is very frustrating for me. If I am awake during the night for more than a few minutes it seems to only register part of my sleep instead of the total time I was asleep. So when I know that I’ve been asleep for between 7 & 8 hours and awake for an hour or more, it’ll only say 3 or 4 hours asleep and perhaps awake 5 minutes. I shouldn’t need another sleep app which requires my mobile phone next to my bed when I’m wearing your watch! What is wrong? When will that be rectified, please?

Great stats, one annoyance.. The data you can mine out of this thing is great, but one thing continually frustrates me. A while back they added a “Training Effect” tracker to the “My Day” page. If you remove/hide it, within a few days it reappears. That wouldn’t be so bad, but when it does it completely resets all the other items in “My Day”. Sorry, but when I’m using this on my elliptical, I want to see heart rate, intensity minutes, steps, and calories altogether, and I find it endlessly frustrating that I have to keep re-editing “My Day” to do what I want. Please fix the app. I understand you’re very proud of your training effect dodad, but I’m not interested. Stop forcing it on me *and* messing up all my other settings in the process. (And yes, I logged this on their support webpage within a few weeks of them breaking this, but no response.)

The App is rubbish and so is the hardware they sell. I really can’t see how anyone can give this app anything more than one star. Have those people actually used it in the real world. The fact that is still so buggy means it’s beta software at best. Things that need fixing: 1. The fact you have to open the app twice to refresh your data on the main page and get it to sync is ridiculous and that’s if you’re lucky 2. The calendar doesn’t update until you’ve restarted the app and fiddled around for 10 minutes. 3. The stress level will display incorrect times. If I’ve been wearing the watch for 4 hours why does it only show a couple of hours or less. 4. If I’m seated on the back of a truck on a bumpy road it will register 20 to 30 thousand steps. This has been an issue for years, with still no fix. 5. The heart rate accuracy is still very hit and miss and sometimes quite alarming when it displays a very high rate and when you check it on a pulse oximeter it’s no where near that. Get it right Garmin.

Changed my life.. Garmin has changed my life, legitimately. This is the first time I’ve rated an app or pretty Much anything for that matter, previously I couldn’t be bothered to write a review but I would feel guilty not writing about my experience with Garmin. 1.5 years ago I decided I needed a heavy duty watch for work ( I’m a plumber ) and googled a bunch of watches and watched a bunch of reviews, Finally! I made up my mind to go with the instinct 2 solar. I loved it immediately, it was plain and simple everything I like in a watch, I started to use its features after a few months in and before you know it i was tracking my sleep, running, steps etc now 1.5 years on im down 27kg fit healthy happy and with a watch I feel that cannot be broken even if it fell into the pits of hell. All jokes aside I love Garmin and push everyone to get one or changed my life and probably would change yours to… ps your not charging it every 30 seconds either.

Great app but..... I’ve had my Garmin Venu for a few weeks now and I love it. I also love the app as it clearly lays out all the data you need to see at a glance. I don’t know if it’s just me but 4 or so times now when I’ve opened the app and it starts setting up my Venu from scratch. I thought it was happening when the app was updated but not so. It’s just done it again. After going through setup I checked the App Store to find there’s been no update for a couple of weeks. Weird. I’ve also had some connection issues where Garmin Connect can’t connect to my Venu despite my iPhone showing a Bluetooth connection in settings. These two issues are the only reason I give 4 stars.

Keeping tabs on my strength training and running. I’m always tracking my running with this app after syncing the watch, it’s so easy and the watch is an awesome tool for making sure I finish my kilometres and keep tabs on my pace. I even log my Reps and weights when strength training editing the exercises on the app afterwards. I also set it to time yoga sessions. A great tool for tracking your intensity minutes for the week. I never thought I would appreciate a smart watch so much until I was given one as a gift. Feel naked without it.

Does not support older products well :(. I have a 920xt and an older iPad which worked fine when I purchased it (aside from drowning two ‘waterproof’ devices). Now constant glitches and won’t load history data. You would expect that if something works well when you purchase it, it should work well for the life of the product. Disappointed that the clarity earned by exercising gets torn away by the endless pursuit of manufacturers to drive customers into purchases of newer products to meet consumerism and bottom line mentality. Would not buy a newer product on principle unless this one has a miraculous turn and starts working properly. Now to the motivation to write a review; I gave a neutral feedback for the app and got constantly slammed with links to the self help trouble shooting and it won’t just stop and leave me alone!!!

Viviomove 3S. First great looking watch, after being a Fitbit user, all I wanted was similar stats but a nice watch you can wear all the time. However, there are some aspects Fitbit smash out of the park. Your automatic activity tracking is hopeless, countless times I have run, hiked and rode for nothing to be picked up, Fitbit do this perfectly. Second I think you just guess the time people are asleep, im clocking 10,11 even 12 hours of sleep when im getting 6-7. It must just start as soon as you stop moving at night. Lastly your synching is painfully slow, looks like this occurred in the most recent updates. All in all, could have a slam dunk here, but the amount you charge for watches and what you deliver are completely different stories.

Garbage. For a 2000$ watch the software is worst I have seen on any watch tis price range smart watch. I went for running came back sat on couch km increased have noticed this few times Strength counter can’t use in gym many time it doesn’t detect or automatically increases, counter starts from 4or 5 reps. Joined few badge challenge I see the point fun and all that did all running steps counter came to 1st , when I slept challenge ended status gathering results, got up challenge in evaluation status still counting gathering results, whatever idiotic concept is that and I am on 3rd , you kidding me man seriously. What’s the point. Once challenge ends end of story put a new one. So many other minor bugs , The only thing good is build quality I have Tactix delta and it’s built like tank the only reason I went ahead with Garmin product but now I regret it every activity . nothing on any activity app is consistent. Few variations are fine once twice error a week ok too. But everyday whatever activity you touch something is broken in software, can’t even start on IQ CONNECT STORE. You guys are decades behind Apple Watch software and will never catch up becomes of things like this As a customer bottom line is l your product can irritate your customer everyday.

Great app but a few suggestions. I think this app is a great app as well as the garmin itself. I have a suggestion for the watch itself. If your compony ever decides to make a new watch I suggest that, you know how when you press start for an activity it starts straight away, i think you should make another option where you can press start and then beep 3 times then start because when i want to start a run i have to have my hand on my watch, which is quite awkward. I also think it should have a timer as well as a stopwatch. Great app and watch overall!

Needs additional ”Other” Challenge Option. I’m competitive. App makes me do more with/against my friends. Fantastic insights and guidance. Please add an “Other” time based challenge that collects all time spent on your other category devices. There is more to life than just run, cycle, and swim. Help for those of us with worn out knees. Also using the watt output from Concept 2 ergos to estimate VO2 max would be fantastic too. Thank you for a wonderful app.

Instinct watch. I absolutely love the watch and app. I’m a bit of a watch freak; love my watches and own quite a few different normal watches. Since I’ve got the Garmin, I can’t see me taking it off. Love to see how my sleep went first thing in the morning. It’s actually motivating me to maintain my fitness. I have 4 main goals every day: How much water I drink (my goal 2 litres), steps (7500), sleep (8 hours or more) and flights of stairs (10). You can of course change your targets. The sleep monitors 3 grades of sleep; light, deep and REM (Rapid Eye Movement - when you dream). The deep and the REM are the good sleep, for body repair. I aim to get the the 4 green ticks every day for achieving the daily goals. It’s motivation. And, the more active and fitter you get, the more deep and REM sleep you get. I had a large percentage of light sleep when I started but now it’s about 50% light, 50% light/REM (the good sleep as I like to call it). Awesome, I’m hooked. And believe me I’m not easily impressed. Cheers

True Motivator. I purchased the Fenix 3HR and have been using this app with it. 3 years ago I finished my last Ironman race at port Mac and walk away from the sport. Work got really busy, so did life. Put on 20 plus kg. The watch and app is the best motivator I have ever used. It has a built in move bar. It stops you from getting sore so you can do two training sessions a day. There is so much data to look at. I really enjoy running again and looking at the data created after the run. I could write a book about this app and watch. If you're serious about getting fit and maintaining your fitness, you will not be disappointed. I have lost 20kg and it only took 5 months.

Lots of bugs - time and again. Whether it is Garmin or Apple, or the watch firmware or the app, I cannot tell, but this particular version of the app seems extremely bad. The app currently loses all login details when my phone restarts. My wife and I have lots of issues with consistent reliable Bluetooth connections. Interestingly just before ios13 came out it seemed pretty good, then the iQ app happened and that does not seem to play nice with Connect, but between iOS 13 and the updates that have happened since it has been a disaster. Garmin this app is key part of the product. It needs to be fixed and urgently.

New to Garmin - great but sleep analysis needs work. have just moved over to Garmin from Withings. A big step up on the GPS and sports tracking, great apps and customisation available, even for kayaking which is a nice surprise. The one weak area I’ve found is that the sleep tracking is hopelessly inaccurate, I have young children and it adds time awake with kids in the bed as REM... haha, I wish. Withings nailed this one with their watches, they somehow knew the fine line between light sleep and awake in bed. I hope Garmin can keep improving in that area.

App used to be a dog but is now great. I previously had a Garmin forerunner 25 and the app although basic worked great. However,I found if I connected the watch to a PC the app stopped working properly. I then had a whole big muck around with installing and uninstalling the app, switching my iPhone on and off etc until it would work again. I now have a Forerunner 935 and the app works perfectly with no issues. I also have installed a Garmin cadence sensor on my bike and this also works very well. The Garmin developers continue to add features and improvements and I’m now at the point where I’ve uninstalled Strava and use the Garmin app exclusively. Well done Garmin. Thanks for building a great app!

Great watch, Poor app. Really love the look of my Garmin Vivoactive 4s but the app is really a disappointment.. I recently updated it and it completely reset all my logged data for starters and now after a few weeks the app won’t even open, so I am going to have to delete/ reinstall the app which I’m sure will result in a similar situation.. also not a fan of your sleep tracker, once I had woken up at 7, and gotten out of bed at 8 then later checked and it had recorded that I was fast asleep until 8.. also doesn’t seem to record times your awake for toilet brakes in the night.. ALSO you need to download a second app for different screens and most you can’t actually view what they are going to look like til you download/install on the watch. All in all I would recommend Garmin for looks only, in this day and age with as much competition as there is with smart watches, I feel you are really sub par...

New update. This app has always worked well for me, and the watch too. Recently however when I open the app looking to sync, it says that my device isn’t connected via Bluetooth and so can’t sync. When I go in to settings it shows that it is, and I’m easily able to get notifications so I know my phone and watch are connected. Now with the new update, or something of the sort, I can’t even opeb the app - it just crashes and sends me back to the home page. I really like using your app so people rectify this ASAP.

One bug - otherwise awesome!. I absolutely love this app - the stats provide interesting insight and I find the interface to be user friendly and easy to navigate. I really like how I can record all my health stats in one place, from weight, to steps, to period tracking, to sleep tracking and more. However, after the last update (March 2021), whenever I go into a recorded running activity and try to tilt my device to see more detailed stats on the laps page, the app crashes!

Great Statistics but two problems. Love the app and it has been great to track my sleep and made me more aware of my daily step count. Two problems that I have though: the app theme is so dark and there is no way to change the theme to something lighter, I love the white theme on on a computer or the web and I wish this could be transferred over to the app!! Another problem is there is no way to add my goals to my dashboard on the app.. this means that I have no accountability to achieve them - out of sight out of mind

Features request. Loving the app and LOVE my Venu 2s!! I had an idea that I hope someone will see 🤞we collect so much data about our health using fitness trackers and one particular function sparked an idea- the women’s health tracker. This could be enhanced by allowing a customisable reminders function for when we need to change or purchase our next contraception. I.e ‘implanon due to be removed soon book a doctors appointment’, or a reoccurring reminder for ‘your birth control script is due for renewal this week’. Not only that but I love the symptoms tracker that is already available in women’s health and think this could be adapted to suit all genders for overall health. If you could customise the name of the symptoms and the name of the health concern we could track long term concerns such as anxiety and depression, pain to determine if an injury is getting worse or better, eating disorders, all kinds of things! If you pair this with customisable reminders also you could remind people to pick up medications, have Pap smears and breast screenings, and follow up appointments that would help people be more on top of their health. Please consider 💛🧡❤️

Not as advertised. The app stopped working correctly about 6 weeks ago. Although I have made several email connections with the support team I have not received any reasonable response, rather platitudes of “we hope this is fixed soon”. I have requested a timeframe for a fix 2 weeks ago but have not been provided this, my most recent email has been completely ignored. An example of an issue is am unable to edit my workouts after completing weights. The app makes its best guess regarding the activity I am doing, which is usually incorrect. This would be fine if I could edit the workout through the app as advertised, however I cannot edit anything including reps and weight. When the purpose of the app is to accurately track workouts, I am disappointed that this has not been remedied.

So annoying. I never leave reviews but that app has seriously started to irritate me. I love the app and all the data it collects. It’s easy to use and generally updates well. However, EVERY TIME my phone either updates or switches off and restarts, I have to set the app up from scratch. My profile, goals, syncing etc. And much of the time it won’t find my watch (VivoMove HR) even though the Bluetooth is on on both devices. I’ve even had to create a new account once because it wouldn’t connect! It’s extremely annoying and really shouldn’t happen. Please fix this!!

Good Awareness. The Vivoactive HR lets me know if I need to move, walk, or exert. I use the bicycle mode to keep track of where I have gone and how hard I have worked. The link to iPhone messages and calls is also useful. It would be good if it had a calorie intake monitor as well. I used the (linked) Endomondo app for a year but stopped when they asked me to accept that they could not protect my privacy. Privacy was not the issue, it was that they did not want to take any responsibility for it - I can’t secure the data they keep on me!

Buggy. Please fix the bug that requests you to set up your "new" device every time the so is opened. It's very annoying to go through multiple times a day. UI and menu options are not very intuitive and I think the whole app needs to be redesign. Please make it easier to access weekly/monthly trends rather than having to dig through multiple screens. Also please think up some better programming for the sleep tracker. The secondary reason I purchased a garmin device was to track my sleep however I am left seriously lacking. As a shift worker (mornings/evenings/overnight) with no fixed pattern, it's frustrating to have to change your sleep/wake times almost daily. Also a way to track naps would be extremely adventitious as not everybody works a 9-5 and gets the luxury of 8hrs a night.

App keeps re-setting. In the last few days, my day view keeps changing order. Every day I fix it and then it resets again over night! The app has stopped syncing to/from my fitness pal. I have re-set this 4 times. Each time it works & then It stops again the next day! Starting to get really annoyed! Also, not sure why sleep is logged even if you the device isn’t worn 🤷🏻‍♀️. It’s bad enough that the sleep doesn’t track day sleeping properly. Edit Nov 2021 Everytime there is a Garmin connect update, the order of my widgets on my watch changes! Some get deleted and some are re- ordered! I have to install the notifications widget everytime! Also we can’t update data screens on the watch from the app? And none of the data screens for activities on the watch allow you to see steps!

Great but ... I find the Garmin app great for step counting and heart rate but am perplexed by some of the app’s other discrepancies. The sleep analysis changes during the day - my app will insert or remove periods of rem sleep or deep sleep or wakeful times as the day goes on. The picture of last night’s sleep is usually completely different at 7am to what it is at 5pm. Why would it do that? Another strange anomaly is the ‘flights of stairs’ function. I can be walking around tidying up in my single level home (no stairs anywhere!) and my watch will suddenly alert me to the fact that I have just achieved my goal of two flights of stairs. How?? Or it will include driving up my driveway as a flight of stairs. Yesterday I supposedly achieved 10 flights of stairs (!?!) but didn’t actually go up or down any stairs at all. (And only drove up the driveway once.) Just wondering how much faith I can really place in the other functions if these two seem to be so random .... 🤔 How accurate is its calorie count for example? I’m not really sure now.

Great App. The app is fantastic however I have one suggestion. After exercising the Garmin watch and the bike computer shows the required rest time before exercising again. It is a really useful function but to find it it is hidden within the sub menus of the devices. I’m unclear why as it is probably one of the most useful things to know when not exercising. Also over exercising can be bad for health which is a good reason why it should be much easier to find. Otherwise love it.

Needs some refinement. Firstly, accessibility is a big deal. Overall, the App is relatively accessible with most elements, buttons and text accessible with VoiceOver, but some labels are missing or not adequately described, including the top buttons in the My Day view, some navigation buttons throughout the App, and some images are missing alternative text. For example, on the My Day page, the Heart rate overview icon (small white graph icon) is described as "overview icon wht" and once in the heart rate overview, the left and right arrows "< >" to browse the graph are labeled as "gtn icon arrow left" and so on. Little things like this make a massive difference to someone who is blind or low-vision. Secondly, I really, really want to see Pulse Ox data shared to the Health App. I love my vivosmart 4, and now looking at the Garmin Index Smart Scales, but I first need to trust that Garmin will make my data accessible and easy to use.

Back Button on Menstrual Cycle - still not working. The back button on the Menstrual Cycle page is still not working. Very frustrating as this means I have to turn off my phone every time I use the page/feature and then want to get out of the App. I think this has been like this for close to 12 months as well, wasn’t always an issue. The back button on the sleep page was fixed, so it is possible to fix. Otherwise I love my Garmin!

GPS malfunction. After the software update the walking and riding distances started to double.

Not working. When will this be fixed? I bought a Garmin for a reason. Thanks!!

Garmin watch no longer sync with app.. My runs on my Garmin watch no longer sync with the app. After this last update I was finally able to sync my past activities, but then I went for a run and it no longer syncs. Can you fix this issue please?

Needs battery % on app Home Screen. This app works good and is consistently running well. A very welcome addition would be having the watch batteries percent on the upper right corner of the app screen. This way if your watch is charging you can check the battery level.

Great first experience. Once I got the manual on the website I was able to figure out how to manoeuvre and configure the watch to my liking. Tremendous amount of flexibility.

Bug avec la mise à jour. Bonjour Garmin ! Depuis la mise à jour, la cadence de mes entraînements enregistrés sont disparus. J’avais entré 16 semaines d’entraînement. J’aimerais que le problème se règle avec une nouvelle mise à jour.

Amazing Battery Life. My watch has only gone down one percent in the past two days and has been on the whole time! WOW. Highly recommend… best I’ve ever tried!

Measurement options limited. Wish the app gave more choice around what is measured in metric and what is imperial.

Useful app. Excellent connectivity to device once connected you don’t have to worry about it again. Garmin devices are super durable, dependable, and very long lasting battery on Instinct smartwatch. Happy with my setup.

Latest update is horrible. I have been trying to log my activity steps for the last three days and the app will not load. I love my Garmin Vivofit, and has been very happy up until three days ago, this latest app update it’s stressing me out because I can’t log my activity

Ne fonctionne pas. Appareil se déconnecte constamment

Terrible. App is unreliable for syncing between my vivosmart5 and the app. Should have gone with a Fitbit. What ever upgrades are being done, keeps getting more unreliable each time.

Apple health integration is terrible. The app doesn’t integrate with Apple health properly. It will send the same data 6-10 times for an activity. If you use anything else that integrates with Apple health all of your data will be completely wrong. I tried manually updating everything in Apple health and garmin connect over wrote it with multiple identical entries again. This issue is confirmed to be with garmin, not Apple.

Does the job. Love my garmin watch, but the app itself is kinda ugly and not the easiest to use. Definitely has all the data but takes a while to get comfortable with where everything is and getting where you want to be. Had it for four months now and still having a bit of a hard time finding everything.

Ok, but clunky and key features missing. Pretty typical Garmin - functionality is lacking in some key areas. Track/activity editing is pretty basic (trim start and end). Given how Garmin buttons are set up on their devices it’s really easy to make a mistake in recording (e.g. hitting lap accidentally, pressing save instead of resume). There are some easy functions like remove lap or combine activities that would go along way to improving Connect. There are also some really easy activities missing and its not even possible to add them using the custom activity. For the amount Garmin devices cost, they really need to up the functionality for understanding and analyzing data ourselves i.e. not just in the packaged up ways Garmin wants to tell us about to try and get us hooked on their products…

App Slow to Sync on iPhone. Samung s9 used to sync instantly. Since I switched to iphone 13, this garmin connect app taking 1 day to auto sync. Even if I try to refresh manually it does not find last saved activity. Please fix it so it auto syncs immediately after I hit save.

Sleep tab. Still, Sleep tab is not back in today’s upgrade. Only sleep score tab available… where is the sleep tab? 😉

Ransomware attack it says in the news. To whoever has done this, i would be glad to tell you my height, weight, how much i sleep, and how much i (don’t) ride these days. Please leave garmin alone. Thank you

Refuses to connect.. All of a sudden my Fenix refuses to connect to Connect. BT is fine, WiFi is fine, app opens but it just will not update anymore as of it can’t find my watch. But it’s all connected.

Nice app. Work pretty good

Great Motivator. I’ve now been using this for 3 1/2 years and it has worked flawlessly. What I like best about it is simply the motivation to keep moving and aiming for new fitness goals.

Does not sync.. It is ok when working. But it does not work at most crucial times. Had to reset watch several times in a week and then their server died. Does not sync after reset.

Great app. This app works great with your garmin device to keep all your info in one space. Love it and use it everyday

App doesn’t work. App doesn’t open from 24th July 2020. It said a maintenance is going then. But not sure when it will be back. I prefer the users to be notified before the maintenance window

Outdated app makes me miss Apple. A little more customization when sharing run times would be nice. Can’t even change the font colour to black. Also when doing Yoga, I’m not going to click my watch every time I change poses. Please add a custom yoga setting or something. It always seems like I did one pose for x minutes.

Love it! Most complete app!. Love the app! I work in data and with this app, you got everything you can dream for in terms of information! Improvement: if we could replanned a training for a day that is already pass, with your garmin coach, that would be very useful! Otherwise, you have to remember to move it before midnight or you lost it!

Don’t not support Garmin HRM-Dual. Don’t not support Garmin HRM-Dual

Latest update is bad. I can no longer adjust the watch face settings on my Fenix3. Each time I try I get a weird prompt window that pops up. It says “open outside garmin connect mobile” with 2 choices: cancel or open. Hitting Cancel takes u back to settings page and does nothing. Hitting open, opens a safari web page that looks like the settings page, albeit with not the same options as already loaded on the watch face. Garmin needs to fix this update.

Drastically exceeded my expectations!. As a previous iPhone and Fitbit user, I can say Garmin connect is so much better! The data is rich, and I’ve had zero connectivity issues.

Oops! Try again later!. Can save maps. Apps seems always fail when you want to use a feature.

Great app, update Aug 2023 made it worse?. Great app overall. Wish it could allow adding custom intensity mintues (eg. For swimming based on RPE). Recent update removed ability to custom name workouts, unclear why but I used this feature daily. Also, adding gear now stopped working. Please consider reverting to the old version, this update is bad sauce.

Software needs to be fixed.. I can’t connect to my Fenix 6 Pro. Everything is working and I’ve gone through the various troubleshooting steps. The odd time it recognizes there is a phone but won’t let me connect.

Glitchy updates. Recent update now makes the app ask to pair a device every time even though my watch is still properly paired. What is going on with your app department? The new updates haven’t been bugged out.

Still not fixed. Cannot add photo twice without restarting the app. New version has a bug when trying to edit the gears used for an activity. If you have more than 1 page, it will not display all and you cannot edit. I would like to be able to package the gears as one bike as I am tracking all the components of the bike to know when to change them or have stats. This version is actually worst than before.

Forerunner 45. Garmin watches are great for sports. Easy to use. The app provides extensive stats. The models I have had often had slight bugs e.g. (1). sets of emergency calls for no reason, just if I stop activity. (2). Alarm goes off earlier than it is set for.

Server down???. I haven’t been able to transfer data since July 23. Showing server down for maintenance before and after the latest update. Please fix.

Can’t pair with Edge. Keep trying to pair with my Edge 820. It used to work and now it doesn’t. Garmin is incapable to make an app that works with their expensive devices.

Great app. I have been using this app and garmin devices in general for 4 years now. I am very happy with the apps reliability and integration with apple health and a number of other apps (MyFitnessPal and Sufferfest etc). Once you get set up, the app becomes your one stop check in for all your health stats. If you have the necessary garmin devices this app can really help you fine tune your training and get many insights into your health

APP crash and Garmin connect service outage. It has been it if service for days without any official explanations. The quality of service to end customer is not acceptable totally

Lots of data. Just got a Garmin smartwatch and this app gives me the data I never knew I needed! Always checking the app after my actuvities

Uglier layout. Way uglier layout with the latest app version. Garmin just screwed the initial presentation of activities with photo. The app, which is fairly good, has become less user-friendly. Sad…

Update 4.71.1. Terrible update that removed capability to manually edit sleep times.

Bug with August update. Since the latest update, graph for 7 day training load not loading. Says no data available, while the number in itself does get updated.

Mot de passe. Pourquoi les données de connexion sont-elles perdues lors des mises à jour de l’application ? Très frustrant lorsqu’on n’a pas ce mdp sous la main.

Not worth it. This app requires internet to connect to your watch, or see any data on it, courses, tracks, etc. Having to always be connected to garmin to see my data is not fair, since the app can supply info about your watch without the net. Its another way for big corp to track and use us anyway they want. Garmin products NOT worth giving up my privacy.

Connect problems. It Connot connected my watch today.

sync with nike run is not working since august 4th. sync with nike run is not working since august 4th

Great app. Great app wish it was easier to find certain things and sometimes watches don’t sink right away.

So many issues. It constantly logs me out Rarely connects to my watch It works fine but I constantly have to log in it’s so annoying

Long time Garmin user. First of all let me say I’m a long time Garmin user, car and cyclist Garmin's, I’m always been fascinated with these devices and love the beauty of technology! Honestly after many years of use my biggest issues and everyone I cycle with always has the same issues! Connections and uploading a ride afterwards! That’s it! Sometimes it’s great and then it’s crappie! But it’s always the same with everyone! Would love to see this problem become a non issue! Once again Garmin is my first choice in any of these gadgets, always has been. We came off a ride just this morning and a few cyclist had the same issues of uploading their rides. Eventually after turn on and off their devices a few times it worked! Would be super sweet to totally eliminate this issue! Love the Garmin always trying to fix issues also with new updates! Thanks!

Not Quite Garmin Quality & Innovation. 4.25.1 update was a bust. It requires complete reset/pairing of the device to the app. Developers should know better. The device (VivoSmart3) is nice for the fact it does a lot without intending to be too much or being bulky. However, it requires too many taps and swipes to initiate a workout. Heart rate monitor is just ok, but that is the nature of those which sit on top of wrist. Message alert is handy. Reliability and durability are problems as I have had to replace it every 12 months or so (3rd device so far) due to failure of display or broken band. The app is ok. It lacks ability to partner with another user to see how they are doing and truly inspire/compete/motivate one another. Sleep data is impressive, but it is worthless data until it is able to offer suggestions for improvement- e.g. your sleep was poor last night because you exercised later in the day.

Workout features. I just recently bought the vivomove Trend (3 weeks ago). So far I’m really liking both the watch and the app with the exception of 2 things… one, why isn’t there a HIIT option in the standard workout selections? That seems pretty standard to me and one that a lot of ppl would use. Seems like an easy enough addition to an update. The second is the strength training feature. I don’t necessarily want to follow the reps in the watch. I have my own program I follow. Why isn’t there an option to do a strength session for time without reps? It screws up my session stats. I did a 45 min strength train, and per my chest heart monitor, burned 435 calories. My connect app says I worked for 13 mins and burned 200. This also seems like something that can be adjusted easily.

Coordinates perhaps?!??? Connect for MK1 Descent. I bought the Garmin MK1 Descent as I wanted a dive computer combined with a GPS; was happy to pay quite a bit for this watch. However, I was extremely disappointed that the entry and exit points of a dive are shown on a map, but without the exact coordinates displayed on the watch or even the Connect app. Do not tell me to export a file and covert and download a software and all that nonsense. I didn’t pay a premium for this. Isn’t the main point of a Garmin for GPS location? And if not on the device itself then on the Connect app at the very least? Should be both I would say. Please fix this and from my side the rating will definitely ne adjusted to a 5-star rating! You have put so many lovely features, but your core is lacking. You are different from other brands so differentiate yourself and leverage your strength and uniqueness! Otherwise, I could’ve bought a much cheaper watch that doesn’t supposedly include GPS!

Amazing, one suggestion for Dev team. This Apple fan girl finally gave up her Apple Watches for a garmin watch and I couldn’t be happier. It’s the best thing to happen to my health and fitness for a long time. I love the coaches running training plans and hope more are published. The Fenix 5S plus is an amazing watch. Within a few days of having the Fenix 5S plus, I purchased a Vivosmart 4 for sleep tracking. The Fenix is just too big to wear at night especially bc I wind up with my arm under my face. I thought I was getting terrible sleep every night with no REM and then I realized that it was bc my vivosmart wasn’t the preferred activity tracker. So every night I have to go in and change this and change it back to the Fenix in the morning. Perhaps you could create a scheduling feature for your preferred activity tracker in the app.

Great daily watch and GPS. Bought the 235 replacing older Garmin tech. Love the battery life as a daily watch where I get 5-6 days between charges. Love the wireless upload after runs using the IPhone Connect App. Sleep tracking useful to see if I sleep well and confirm my body feeling. Appreciate the downloadable watch faces though not much that I love. And like the downloaded running apps that give my training and race runs more detail comparable to my older Garmin forerunner multi screens. I run 5-8 marathons and train 1,800 miles annually so I get good use out of it. Screens not too colorful but the detail is there and I appreciate the auto uploads and time syncs with my smartphone. It charges fully in 30-60 min and can be used as a full wet Tri watch as well. I wear this 24/7 now and it’s a positive upgrade fir a reasonable price in my Garmin journey.

Generally, I would recomend. There is one thing I do not like, and that is the fact I can’t figure out how to sort my runs by any other metric but time. Besides that, and the equipment tracker being annoying to set up and use, I would recommend. I really like the map and charts that help me identify where I need to pick up or slow down pace on future runs. The map… maps on to google maps and color codes every millimeter of scale you went on your run based off pace. I also love the massive amount of storage the system has, I have over 700 runs saved and I can still see my first run ever I had my current watch on. Ethos: I am 18 yes old with a 5K PR of 17:20. Over the summer and winter I run 40-60 miles per week with 2 work outs a week. On a base run I average 6:40 for 6 miles.

Function Missing. I completely understand the premium watch compatibility requirement for things like strength training tracking *on the watch.* However, I believe many folks with lower-cost hardware would still like to “check off” workouts via the app and have the workout translate to the daily activity without manual input of everything they accomplished. Example: If I follow a workout I created in the app the weight volume, sets, reps, etc. should somehow link to the scheduled workout much like runs do. I can start an “other” workout on the non-comparable watch itself to track vitals, etc. but later tell the app that the workout was actually what was created/scheduled without manually entering 25+ sets.

Garmin Connect is killing its great training metrics. I’ve been using Garmin connect now for a couple years paired with my Garmin 530. I am very very happy with the 530 and I enjoy the training metrics so much that I was tempted to buy a Garmin watch for this reason. However, I’ve noticed occasionally the training metrics do not update and certain rides are not attributed to the scores despite my activities being available and my heart rate data and power data also there. The training metrics are shown on the 530 which are correct but Connect is somehow not in sync with the metrics even though the rides are uploading. This is frustrating as it happens often enough that my data is skewed and I no longer find value in Connect and therefor the great training features Garmin has developed. I hope this review makes its way to the backend developers as Imagine this is the source of the issues.

Excellent. I love this app. I was career army and have been around Garmin GPS and other military hardware for most of my adult life. I purchased a Garmin Descent G1 solar early last summer for diving. This was my first experience with a Garmin outside of the army. I have to say, I’m a customer for life. The G1 is an awesome watch (smart/dive), and the Connect app is great. It’s super easy to use, no learning curve. It’s very user-friendly. I love that I can customize each tab how I want. My feed shows only the things I’m interested in. I can also customize almost all watch settings from the app. It’s really convenient, much faster than scrolling through the watch itself. The app updates my feed every time I open it. It’s great because you can track your daily progress in real time. I really don’t have any complaints. Hats off to the developers!

Pretty bad app for a tech company. Overall the UX isn’t terrible for sports specific activities (running/biking/etc.)/stat tracking but there are a lot of simple things that the app doesn’t do or does wrong that make it a poor experience. For starters, I should do nothing on the watch itself. Things like adding music, entering Wi-Fi passwords, changing the watch-face: all of that should be done in the app, on your phone, not on the watch. Or at least have the option of doing it on your phone. Manually entering a Wi-Fi password on a watch with 2 buttons when I have a literal computer inches away from it with a full keyboard is what an insane person would recommend as a user experience. Adding some music to the watch is a clunky experience that something like the Apple Watch does seamlessly. Of course I would rather run in my Garmin and use it for training compared to a more tech focused watch, but when you spend $300 on a watch you would expect things like these problems to be nonexistent.

Vivofit 2. I love it! I’m on my 2nd one. Only because the first one fell off and I lost it. I did check each day and someone else was wearing it. Sad about that. And all the data was lost, I ordered a new one and I had to start all over again with earning badges and all the miles I had walked. That’s the only bad thing about it., plus it only lasts for about 2 years then you have to start all over again with a new watch. I wear mine every day and only remove for swimming and showering, even though it’s waterproof. I do like the app, but my one other Quam about it is, is you can add other activities but I sit and sew for 8 hours a day even though I’m not walking I’m still using a pedal. I have a new Fitbit when this one dies to wear that I won at work. But I wish there was a battery to replace so al the data logged wouldn’t be lost each time you have to get a new one.

Wishing for Better List of Exercises. I use mine to track my workouts, which includes cardio, strength training, and yoga. It’s generally ok but I am getting frustrated at the poor search function and lack of combo exercises. The list of exercises for strength training while long, is limited and does not include a lot of small muscle training exercises and combo movements. The yoga tracking also suffers similar problems with limited names of movements and poor search while trying to track workouts. I wish it would give me an option to create exercise names and identify worked areas or the Garmin update their list of exercises and improve the search function. One more thing, the app glitches when I try to edit the exercises and is now putting things out of order and changing data. Very frustrating. I do enjoy the Garmin coach, which helps to keep me on track of running goals.

Please fix.

First Garmin. So this is my first experience with a Garmin or really a smart watch of this magnitude. (Had and Apple Watch and wasn’t impressed). I have a Garmin Instinct and I love the functionality of the watch being all button driven and no touch screen. As far as the app, it seems to work well but I have no comparison to any other type of fitness app. The app itself is very intuitive and easy to navigate. I don’t care for the “badges” that you get when you complete something but fun for someone who wants some third party affirming. I went flying with my brother and was able to track our entire flight from start to finish, then open the app and see a very (seemingly) accurate depiction of our flight and course that we took in both a map view and also a satellite view. So far very impressed but also only a week in.

Invaluable training tool. It’s given me the tools I need to be the closest to my own coach as possible. The attention and client feedback-centered changes they implement in updates it’s not something I knew about before, until I went into the forums. I’ve noticed some improvements and although their almost invisible it truly makes a difference for which I’m grateful to the developers and customer support team. If I could suggest just one thing here it would be to give some attention to inline skating as there is in cycling and running. Examples being a speed overlay in maps, self evaluation, distance totals, personal records and activities separated from the rest of ‘Other’ activities for easy and fast analysis for speed skating. Thanks!

My review. I received a Garmin HR/GPS sport watch as a gift, so I installed the app to customize, update, and see the analysis tools for my workouts. It works very well overall, and I have had only one issue: when Connect sends calories burned/active calories data to other apps on my phone, it doubles what I have burned to date until the end of the day, when it corrects to the actual amount. Since I tend to track my caloric intake using another app, this is slightly annoying because it adds a layer of calculation my intake/output balancing, but it is not a major issue. Things I really like: I can manage my watch’s functions, my personal data, my workout information, my health data (like weight, hydration, and sleep) and other things all in one app. Quite nice to have, so I recommend both connect and Garmin sport watches. Thanks for reading, Cheers!

Out of the gate 👍🏻 since 😕. Updated comment: Any news on an update!?! I have only had my VivoFit for a short time and I can’t use it!! I could have bought a cheap tracker instead of this! Previous comment: have had my Garmin and the app since January. Out of the gate it worked great! Since then it has gone downhill terribly. I don’t know if it is a device issue or app issue but something is wrong. For the past 3 weeks it has notified me that I need to stand after I just sit down from walking or stretching. Then this past week I left it at home when I went out of town. When I returned I immediately started charging it. Since then every time I open the app I have to start all over again like it’s the first time I have started using the app. I just had to re-enter all my settings 3 times just this morning. What gives?

Great watch, great app. Very satisfied with both. I’m a marathoner so have had a few watches over the years and both are on par with the best ones I’ve experienced. I purchased this one because I’ve started to swim very regularly and Forerunner 930 had the best review on wirecutter. So far so good. I only swim in 50m pools, and on a rare occasion I get the impression that it may be slightly off. I say impression because on a long swim (2 hours/5 K) I can’t possibly count laps to validate my “suspicion”. There’s a great article in NYT in last month that explains why GPS readings have a margin of error and after reading that article I’m confident that no single device in the market is going to be 100% accurate in a pool 100% of the time. Only suggestion to Garmin is to increase the Font size. Stays charged up to 3 weeks. Happy to recommend.

Almost everything I want. Garmin connect is by far my favorite app for a fitness tracker. I have tried a few through the years, but connect is my favorite. The app gives great feedback and as I have upgraded devices the amount of additional info it provides is awesome. I started with a vivosmart years ago then up to a vivoactive and now the Fenix 6 pro. The insight is amazing with training load, VO2MAX, pulseOx, sleep, etc. all of it helps to focus training. Connect has almost everything I want in an app. The addition of menstrual cycle tracking and water intake through some of the more recent upgrades is awesome. I would love to see meditation and blood glucose added. Then I wouldn’t need to track elsewhere. For meditation I would just want it as a category in activities. And as a bit of a data nerd more stats are great.

My Go To Fitness App. For me, Garmin Connect is *the* fitness app. I value data and data visualization; social aspects are not important for me, I don’t want to compare myself with others so much as with myself in the past. Full access to features that continue to be developed with the only price being ownership of a relatively recent Garmin wearable, while older devices are still supported for what they are capable of is a business model that feels good to me; the whole tech world is in love with software as a service with subscriptions, often at various levels, and I’m happy to have a valid option outside of that. It helps that the devices are so fantastic as well. Thanks Garmin for doing what you do so well!

So much data.... I use this app with a Garmin Instinct and my typical activities are hiking, running, and occasionally biking. The app tracks a potentially overwhelming amount of fitness data. I had to fiddle with it for awhile before I got it customized to show what’s important to me. However, I am NOT a tech savvy person, so if I can figure it out, I’m sure anyone can. One thing I’d like to see added has to do with the ability to add gear to activities. Most of my hiking is done with a backpack and I’d love to be able to log how much weight I carry on each hike. Right now I can add a backpack as “other” gear, but all it tracks is that gear’s mileage. Logging mileage on a backpack doesn’t seem that useful. Another issue I think has to do with my Garmin Instinct rather than the app. When doing a hiking activity, the heart rate recorded is substantially lower than what it should be. I’ve done significant climbs when I can feel my heart trying to beat out of my chest, but my watch says I’m at a nice, easy 80 bpm. The issue only seems to happen during hiking - the other activities seem fine. Overall, I’m very happy with the app. It’s been a good motivation to keep me physically active and to keep trying to “beat yesterday,” as Garmin puts it.

Solid features but doesn’t live up to its potential. First off, I’m simply writing this because Garmin doesn’t give you a simple method to send their developer teams feedback, which is annoying. The latest update (from my style of usage) adds one small nice feature (in-activity summary edit button for changing the name) but then A) removes the gear from the activity summary showing what you used and what the mileage of the gear is and B) takes it back a step in that the “add gear” setting will now randomly alter where a piece of gear is, and now shows the gear in smaller font but more spread out so things are off screen that don’t need to be, so it doesn’t reduce work or increase usability. So please put the gear back in the activity summary and put a little add gear option right in the activity summary. For the app itself, it’s overall quite good but not nearly as good as it could/should be given Garmin’s position of strength in the category. Garmin should give Strava some competition and let people record straight from the app. It’ll only open people to buying Garmin devices by bringing them into the Garmin ecosystem and then would hopefully lead to Garmin strengthening their segments and leaderboards. Also, adding a search into the app would be nice so we could quickly find certain activities in our history.

Create Activity Problem. Trying to create a custom activity since WALKING isn't one. INTENSITY TARGET for pace; minutes/mile. I'm trying to set a warmup target of 20 minute mile but the format doesn't make sense in the scroll. The units in the title are (min/mil) but the format in the scroll is 00:00~00:00. Is that hours:min per miles:tenthshundredths ? Because when I do 00:10 or 10:00 ~ 01:00 or 00:50 the ratio doesn't make any sense for any combination of these. Just let people select minutes per mile with a scroll column LABELED minutes and a slash / with a scroll column LABLED miles. If you want a 10 minute warmup, you still are going to choose 15or20min/1mil pace. I think you're doing a better job than the apple environment. I got one as a gift the same time I got my Vivosmart HR. YOU'RE WINNING. Would rather use your watch always. Because your app is so straightforward for the most part. Could be a little neater and tidier but overall better than you-know-who.

It’s was ok until…. It worked ok for what I needed: track steps, period, basic workout days. Now the calendar is broken and shows no history at all. I’ve been using this tracker for years and now all that history is gone. Plus, I guess challenges were still a thing, I thought they had gotten rid of them a long time ago. Today a challenge popped up saying hey celebrate Disney’s 100 years, join the 10,000 steps in 10 days challenge for November. Supposedly, this was challenge number 4 of 4 this year! What happened to the other 3? Why are you telling me now?!? As a bonus, there are only 8 days left in November, not 10 which is the minimum requirement to complete and get the badge. I liked doing challenges and was bummed when they stopped showing up. Guess they never really went away, that feature just decided to stop working one day, and I never found out till today. Thanks Garmin.

Constant UI changes, for the worse. For some reason Garmin continually fiddles with the UI, improving and then worsening the experience, and then back again. In the last few updates they took what was a simple process to input daily stats and have added extra layers of complexity. Take weight as an example: previously there was a button on the home screen to record the day’s weight. Then they put that behind an ‘Add Data’ link, adding another tap. You used to just type in the number using a big keypad. Now you must twirl a small scroll wheel to dial in the digits. The worst is that now you have to tap the ‘weight’ field before you can input anything. Wasn’t the fact that I had already tapped at least two links to get to this screen evidence enough that I want to enter in my weight? Truly this is UI design in reverse. They went from simple and intuitive to adding layers of complexity that get in the way of the user.

Super buggy. In general, this app is great. I love the amount of data available and how it’s presented. But, it’s very buggy. The biggest problem is battery consumption. If you don’t swipe the app closed when you’re done with it, it will often run in the background and kill your battery. On a typical day, my phone has more than 60% battery when I get home from work. If I don’t close the app, sometimes I will find it at 30% and see that Garmin Connect has 9 hours of background activity. Also, when my phone reboots, it forces me to log in and set up the app again. I could understand logging in again, but having to set up the app again isn’t right. The one major missing feature is the ability to reschedule training plans within the app. Right now you can only do that with Garmin Coach plans. For other training plans I have to reschedule the workout from my computer then make sure it has synced.

A Very Useful and Straightforward App. I like how straightforward this app is. It gives you all of your daily statistics in one quick view, and you can expand on them as well, if you like. The way that the app is laid out is pleasant, and not overstimulating (which is a breath of fresh air in this day and age). The Garmin training plans are great, and I have had a lot of success with them. Now that I have moved up to the marathon distance, I have been manually adding my workouts to the Garmin Connect app, and it has been a breeze. Another one of my favourite features is the ability to make an automatic course to run/bike on. It has let me explore a lot of areas, even while traveling. Other apps make you create the course yourself, which can take ridiculously long. I love that this one can make an automatic course. Finally, one last feature that I really appreciate is the live tracking. It makes me feel a lot safer to know that my husband can see exactly where I am on my runs, and it has come in really useful multiple times. I use this app with a Garmin Forerunner 245, and have been so happy with it. It is far superior to the Apple Watch and other apps that I previously used. Go Garmin!

Brilliant data. I have owned the Fenix 2, Apple Watch 4th generation and now the Fenix 5x plus. I am outside and hike, climb, CrossFit and as a service member I always want to have a single device to do as much as possible. The fenix2 was a great device and served me for years. I tried to convert to the apple product and was happy with the simplicity but it lacked anything other than basic fitness functions and well the crystal broke during a hike. Not made for my lifestyle more for my kids. Now the update to the Fenix 5x and the updated connect app are amazing. Tracking my heart rate and every piece of metadata I need. I would give it 5 stars if there was an option for either high intensity functional training or CrossFit style workouts. I have to use cardio and it is clumsy to build workouts in. I really love the watch and application.

HR. Hi, I’m new to Garmin after using a Fitbit for many years. So far I really love it. However, I don’t see where you can monitor your heart rate zone during exercise. It’s got to be here somewhere right? I want a certain zone for certain amounts of time and the Fitbit did that Garman seems more advanced. Maybe I’m still learning the app I’ve tried to Google and haven’t found this information. Anyway, I really like the app and the device as long as I can figure out where to find HR zones. *Addendum: Is it not possible to view the battery percent of the device in the app? My device is showing 5% and I had no idea it was down that low. It would be great to be able to check this in the app like other brands. I didn’t receive a notification It was down that low.! Otherwise, I’m really really loving it

Crushes the Nike app hands down. I’ve actually had this app a few years, but I’m just now doing the review. First off, I used to own a Nike sport watch and loved it. I had the Nike app to go with it. Nike used to have a very good running app, but they changed a great deal of it, making it more of a social media app with a few stats and some links to purchase their stuff in it. Hated it. Well, the sport watch finally not the dust and I bough a Garmin Forerunner 235 and uploaded the app to go with it. Haven’t looked back. It’s truly remarkable seeing what I was missing. Now, I’ve heard a lot about Stava and can’t compare it since I’ve never used it, but I’d recommend this 10 out of 10 times to people because of the ease of use and all the information. I highly recommend!

Great app with some seriously annoying flaws. It’s been so nice to access all the activity analysis and information. So nice for my watch and for me as a runner to see all of this. But the annoying things to me are the creating courses option. I can map out a course to see how far it is and see if I should do it or not. But it ignores specific trails. For example I want to use a path between two streets but the course maps me going allllll the way around. Which adds useless distance. If it was updated so that users could add trails to the system as personal trails. This app would deserve 5 stars. Take a check of everything and see how annoying some of the features are. A couple tiny fixes would make a mountain of difference.

Great but…. Garmin Connect provides a great deal of data. There are two changes I see repeatedly in forums that need to be addressed. One, change or provide the ability to change the color and size of the numbers on the axes on the data graphs. If you’re over the age of 40 or so, it’s likely that you cannot read them easily unless you’re carrying readers with you. Two, give suggested workouts tailored to the individual and the data the app and watch are collecting. Even after purchasing a heart rate, monitor and doing the lactate threshold test, the suggested workouts have not changed. No matter what I do, I continue to get suggested workout pieces of round 10 minutes a mile, which is far slower than I’ve ever run.

Data loss. First off the Fenix 6 sapphire is fantastic. This review is about the software platform and app, not the hardware. I’ve been happy with everything up until about a week ago when the data I’ve been building tied to my fenix mysteriously quit syncing with my other applications. In order to resolve the issue I logged out and logged back into the application at which time the app went through setting up my fenix like it was brand new. As a result I’ve lost all of the data and the progress on my half marathon training program which I with two weeks to complete. Couldn’t be more annoyed that 3.5 months of training has been lost. I still don’t know what the actual issue was but it appeared to me that my data at garmin mysteriously got reverted back to whe I had a vivoactive 3. Just saying... like I said, up until last Wednesday I was syncing all data to my fitness pal, Rally Health, Rally Coach, etc. When Rally contacted Garmin they said they didn’t have my data. Not cool.

Former FitBit User Input. I just bought the Garmin 4S after having been a loyal FitBit user for over 7 years. I decided to switch to Garmin bc of the aesthetically appealing design of the watch, it’s round face, n color. I’d rate looks as 5 stars bc it is so beautiful on my wrist!! 😍 However, after 2 days of wear, I discovered that the sleep feature is not as accurate as the FitBit. It said that I slept at 8:27, but I was actually in the shower. It said that I woke up at 1:30, but I woke up at 4:30. The app doesn’t show my overall sleep score or what women my age sleep score average is n what my average sleep score n stages have been for the past 30 days. I’m hopeful that this feature is an easy fix n if done, I’d change my score to a 4-star rating. Other than the sleep score, benchmark, averages, I’m still getting used to how the app works n what it can do bc there are way more diagnostics than FitBit.

Apple Health Integration frustrating. I use the Garmin Edge 1030 for my cycle rides. I like how the Garmin Connect app displays my data. So, I started transferring my runs to Garmin Connect from Apple Health using RunGap. The problem is that Garmin Connect then re-transfers the run to Apple Health and I end up with duplicate data and messed up statistics. So I had to delete all my run data from Garmin Connect and then go manually delete it all from Apple Health. Garmin Connect should not send data to Apple Health that it did not create. I so badly want to use Garmin Connect to visualize all my workout data, but I can’t have my Apple Health database all messed up by it. I really hope Garmin can update the Connect app to stop behaving this way. I’d love to use Connect to visualize my workout data and Apple health for the rest of my health data, but it all needs to be consistent.

Not bad at all but. Here’s a couple improvements I’d like to see if possible. First and fore most add naps and factor them into your sleep score. I work a 6 hour on 6 off schedule 2x a day for 28 days straight. So only one roughly 5 hour sleep period counts so more or lest I’m always “drained” which pretty much leave me with everything is useless except calories and steps. Second I’d personally like to see something similar to s health where there’s a daily, weekly, monthly goal and a fun way to get there with mile markers etc something to where as maybe with steps or calories where I go hey it’s only such and such to my weekly goal I gotta get moving. I think that would really help allot of people be more active. Idk just thought and all. I know I can use the stealth app in conjunction but I’d really like to do everything all in one place.

Can’t remember life without it. I’ve had the garmin vivo3 music and use it for so many things. I originally got it because I wanted a fitness tracker for both outside activities and inside the gym. This is great for both. I love that I have music downloaded and don’t need my phone when I’m outside. I run, bike, paddle board, swim, and hike 14ers. It was great in the back country without cell service and tracked my entire climb. I use it for yoga, Pilates, circuits, hiit, boot camp, and the treadmill. I’d like to get organized and download workouts but I’m happy enough just using cardio mode. I didn’t buy it for the vo2 or the sleep features but now I love watching the metrics improve and I wake up every morning eager to see my rem sleep vs light sleep vs deep sleep. I recommend this to all my friends and I’m saving up for the vivo4.

If I could use another app to work with my watch I would. The basic features of the app (uploading activities) work fine for the majority of the time. However, the reason I use Garmin isn’t basic. I want the customizability. I want to download and update apps on my watch. At best this feature takes as long as I do in the bathroom at my in-laws looking at my phone. It would be understandable if the app I was downloading/updating were the issue, but I am even having this issue with Garmin made Apps. If it must take so long to actually update an app can it not be done in the background? Why must I have to select update at all? A few other features I use in the app are the heat maps. WHY IN THE WORLD IS THIS BURIED SO DEEP? I travel for work and this is a necessity so I know where the locals go run. Where it is safe to run. I have had to show this to many of my coworkers who didn’t even know that it existed. Garmin is a respectable company. These feel like small issues, but why are they issues at all?

The best fitness tracking app. I use this app to track golf, cycling, walking, workouts, and hear rate paired with my Garmin S62 golf watch. Nothing comes close to this. The watch was on the expensive side but u don’t have to pay a monthly to use the apps. There is no comparison when you add in the Garmin golf app (also included when u buy the watch). These apps and watch track every vital stat: distance to hole, hazards, wind, course map, virtual caddy, how far and what direction ur hitting clubs as well as keeping score. It also tracks miles, steps, calories burned, body battery. Also, it’s constantly being updated. For additional stats u can get sensors on clubs. You will need this to track info on putts.

Love the app, but for one small thing.... I received the Vivoactive 3 I’d been wanting for Christmas in 2019 and I LOVE it. It was easy to set up the Garmin Connect app and connect to my watch, and I find the data points it collects and displays to be very useful. I literally look at my app at least twice a day. My only issue with it is that sometimes the Bluetooth link between my watch and the app “breaks” and the app prompts me to set up the watch again, as though it were new. Once it’s set-up again it shows all my historical data, so it’s recognizing it as the same one in the end, but it’s a pain to have to set it up over and over again. This probably happens about every 3-4 weeks. I keep hoping some software update will fix the glitch rather than trigger it. In the meantime, I still love the app and the watch, so I deal with it!

Weather data doesn’t update on Approach S60. This latest version of Garmin Connect from January 7 doesn’t update the Weather data on iPhone XR. The workaround is to delete the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone and then re-install the app. The current weather data then appears but then it still doesn’t update. In addition, I have had continuous issues with the Approach S60 watch since the Apple IOS 13 update in October related to saving shot locations. I had to reset the watch to factory settings and then re-pair all my clubs to finally get it to work. But this was after numerous trial and error attempts to resolve the issue on my own as Garmin has minimal information on their website on how to resolve issues. I have had the watch for 2 years with no issues until IOS 13 arrived. Hopefully the next version of Garmin Connect will resolve the weather issue, but I don’t really want to wait for the next monthly update. Garmin needs to provide more frequency updates to resolve critical issues.

Glitchy; doesn’t properly track activities. I’ve had a Garmin Swim2 watch for a year now, I swim 4-6x a week, and the weak link is definitely the Connect App. While it mostly (19 times out of 20) will sync and record my workouts, it regularly fails (30-50% of the time) to tally those yards in the weekly intensity minutes, the calories burned in the calorie tracker, etc. I’ve alerted Garmin about these glitches on multiple occasions, but never get a response. It is almost more frustrating than if it never works, because I keep thinking the next software update will fix these issues, but they never have. I assume that this must be in the app and not the watch, as the workout appears on my daily summary with all of its detail. I would love to see this fixed. Luckily, MyFitness app and Strava pick up some of the slack, but it definitely makes me less loyal to or satisfied with Garmin when it comes to getting my next fitness hardware and software setups.
