This app needs work. I am still using this app, despite that it is maddening when it comes to recipes. When I’ve entered a recipe and, a few days later, want to tweak one or two ingredients, I can’t see the ingredients or make changes. So I have to start from scratch and enter all the ingredients again. When I’ve been creating a recipe and want to enter an ingredient that isn’t in your database, I try to create that ingredient, but then I lose the recipe and all I’ve entered into it. And on that subject, your database of ingredients is woeful. Some common things, for instance from Trader Joe’s, are not in the database. So I am constantly creating new foods. I am spending way too much time doing this – so frustrating that it makes me want to overeat. That’s exactly the opposite of why I am on this app. The other problem is in the exercise section. I do a long stretch routine daily, but there is no option on the app for stretches. Or maybe there is, but there seems to be no list where I can choose stretching. And if I add stretch, stretching or anything similar, nothing comes up. That is a motivation killer. I was a Weight Watchers member for years and used their app, which does not have these problems. Of course, you pay for it. But I think this app can do better and still be free.

You get what you “pay” for. I’ve been using this app for about two weeks. I wasn’t particularly worried about losing weight when I started; I just wanted to get a better understanding of what I was putting into my mouth. If you are looking for a general overview to gauge your overall eating habits, then this app is fine for that. Where it falls short is that it’s not really conducive to home cooking. There seems to be an encyclopedia of information related to popular take out chains and favorite supermarket brands, but very little information for fresh, home prepared produce. Examples include steamed broccoli (only an Applebee’s side dish matched this entry) or baked Korean batata (a type of sweet potato). This app also doesn’t cater to more exotic cuisines, such as Ukrainian borscht or Pad King (a Thai ginger dish). You can destruct your home cooked dishes by listing comparable ingredients individually, but that just creates a lot of unnecessary time and effort. At some point a person is bound to get frustrated and bored by this cumbersome method of food tracking. Considering that this app is free and you are not looking for rigorous calorie counting, just rough estimates to reshape/understand your eating habits, then it serves its purpose.

Almost perfect. This app has every aspect I could record, it has no ads and no in app purchases as well as no “pro version” which I just love. All the features are free and you can use it easily off-line. The only change I ask is that the foods be more up to date, I noticed there are more foods in the other app that just gives nutritional information. Thank you for this wonderful app, it is SO USEFUL.

Doesn’t work after iOS 14 update. I’ve been using this app for over a year; loved the simple design and the access to overall macro information, 5/5 stars. However, after updating to iOS14 it has completely stopped working. I’m able to open the app but can’t log anything. Really hoping this will be addressed soon.

Easy for me & visually motivating!. This is my first calorie counting app. It’s easy enough that I don’t tire of using it and can keep up with my routine of counting carbs fats and calories. I am not focusing on precision, so it doesn’t bother me that when I went to Crocker Barrel restaurant my entree did not populate in the search. Rather, I just put in a similar item. I stumbled CalorieKing app when it popped up as a suggestion as I was googling carbs amounts for various food. It’s much better than my google method of keeping count. I really enjoy this app and hope to reach my goal of 175 lbs. I also love that CalorieKing tailors my nutritional limits & exercise amounts to the personal goal I set! It gives a visual reminder everyday with it circle chart.

So far so good!. So far I like it so much more than MFP! I like that it has your total macros right at the top, just makes things easier...and when your counting macros the easier the better! I just wish there were more foods in the database linked to barcodes. Since I just started using the app I am constantly entering in new foods. But, I know that will just take time and won’t last forever. Overall, so far so good!

Great design; limited food database. I like the layout, information tracking, and functionality of this app but I find their database of foods is lacking. I’m an on-the-go mom and teacher and I just don’t have the time to dedicate to entering the nutritional info myself every time I log a food. I eat mainstream products like fiber one and lean cuisine and FairLife dairy but when I scan the barcode, nothing comes up. The only thing I found that was easy to log was an apple. I deleted the app and will replace it with one that is more convenient.

Some foods not listed. I enjoy this app. I appreciate being accurate in updating the food list, but I would at least guess 40% of my food list is not on this app. Therefore, I have to key in my food. It would be nice if there's an option to scan the barcode and allow it to be listed. Scanning the barcode seems like it would be the accurate nutrients for the item. I scan foods in and your list is not updated, so I have to create the food. That's not very convenient. I would be more than willing to input data to keep the food list updated. Thank you for your consideration.

Restaurant heavy. If you eat out a lot and would like to calculate what you eat at various restaurants, this app is absolutely for you. But, the scanner doesn’t scan many products and doesn’t have many fresh fruits and veggies available for calculations either. Basically, anything you make homemade is a headache and you’re expected to create the recipe and all associated nutrient information per serving and as a whole as well. This isn’t going to work for me at all. But, they have almost every meal at any restaurant under the sun. Pretty much, If you want to go on the subway diet, this is your ‘aid’. 🤣

Love it!. I downloaded this morning and have to say this is so easy to use. I set my weight goals and entered current weight height and birthday and it set up how many calories I should eat to achieve my goals. I also set my activity goals for the day and logged each time exercised. It is easy to log the food that I have eaten, water and exercise. It clearly lets me know what I have done and what I have left to do.

Great Calorie and Nutrition Tracker. Really liked the design and usability of this free tracker app. It’s not too busy or it’s not pushy, but it does have a lot of nutritional information for the food. But it is missing a lot of food. Honestly I didn’t mind entering my food and I liked that it tracked my daily intake of stuff like Iron and Vitamins. (I felt REALLY tired for a week and this app helped me figure out I was actually Iron deficient) The ONLY reason I dropped it is it didn’t connect to the iOS health app or offer its own macro data display. Other than that, I loved it and would reuse it if it got Health App integration.

It’s only the beginning.... To be fair, I only downloaded this app last night but I wanted to share my appreciation for it so far. I was tired of using myfitnesspal. I never liked the design of it much and I just never seemed to lose weight or feel any type of success. However, I need to track cholesterol because that suddenly became a thing I had to worry about and the majority of other tracking apps made that impossible without paying. Therefore, I really, really, really love CalorieKing for not just tracking macros AND for letting me choose what I want to glance at quickly when I open the app. I don’t know how well my weight loss journey will go (that’s on me), the ease of seeing nutritional details is wonderful. The design is lovely and I certainly don’t mind adding in food details. I also know some days I will be in a rush out the door or into bed but I need to slow my add down anyway. Another thing I love about it from the start is I can put in recipes. I am always cooking, baking, and I love trying new recipes. I haven’t used it yet so I don’t know the pros and cons, but the fact that it’s there and so easy to find got me stoked. The only thing I wish it had a button for is syncing with my Fitbit. That way, the steps and exercise I do get in a day goes right into my calories burned and vice versa. This is the only critique I have at first glance. I’m excited to get more into this app and look forward to little changes here and there.

Work needed. I do enjoy this app but work needs to be done, for starters the food, your selection is VERY select, I find myself constantly having to add food and cause more time In my day and on top of that i don’t know know if is accurate, second the exercise section, I love the front page how it tells you how many calories you ate, water drank and how much exercise but it is so selective again the bare minimum push-up walking running and sits ups basically, then when you go to add your own workout log it only asks how many calories were burnt. How the heck am I supposed to know how much I burn when squatting or lifting dumbbells. Pretty disappointing to be honest, trying to look for new and improved apps that suits me better. But like I said I do really like the layout and how it looks that’s why it gets a 2 star. They did SOMETHING right!

Review. I have been using this app for a couple of years and really like it. Very easy to use. The bottom line is that I’ve met my weight goal by simply being disciplined and using this app to keep track of my calorie intake which it is specifically designed to do. I like the graphing feature to track my weight and it’s super motivating to see the line slowly but steadily slope downward. I have a simple rule: I eat whatever I want but make sure my diet is balanced while never exceeding a daily calorie count of 1,700 calories per day (which I researched on-line for my age and height). It WORKS, the weight comes off. Be patient, be disciplined and good luck.

Great except ....... This would be a great app except it doesn’t recognize 97% of what I scan. And I’m doing all name brands The screen also glitches out when I try to switch from scan to food quite often and lastly it doesn’t give me the option to find foods That did scan , only the ones I’ve entered myself. It also doesn’t have a good variety of exercise options. The good part is it counts everything and gives you a running total. Because of the way it keeps track I’m going to keep using it for a little while in hopes they add more foods to be scanned. Otherwise I will try to find another app

Really simple easy and efficient love it . They kept as simple as possible. I have been using it for years thank God they don’t kept changing it around it’s simple and easy to navigate . Love the way it knows the calories used in most exercises and foods and if not allows you to create your own history . I had fit bit . What a pain it broke and I’d have to wear it ,prefer this the phones always with me . One less thing to deal with.

Not accurate for less than 1 serving. If you want a general idea of what you’re eating and calories you consume by eating, the app is ok. If you eat less than 1 serving of anything that is hard to measure in servings then the app is completely inaccurate. You don’t always have access to food scales, measuring cups, spoons, specially for snacks. Also, what is considered a wedge of cheese? The difference is huge between kinds. Finally it does not let you record your activity; I ended up taking it off my diary so to keep only a food diary. Food databas can always improve and grow. It’s also not a huge app, for now, as compared to many similar ones in scope; hopefully it will stay that way.

Good but .... I have purchased this app and like it the best out of all of them. I like how I can add things and set things up how I want it to be. However, I have been having trouble with ads even after refreshing my purchase ... when I click on the “Help” tab it brings me to an empty page. When I go to the website the Help tab still comes to a blank page. Frustrating. Please fix this and restore my purchase so I don’t see ads! Thanks!!

Easy to use!. I find this app very easy to use. It is easy to assess where you stand with regards to not only calories but also nutritional values. If you are not able to keep track it is not due to this app. It is the operator, humans. LOL You can get calories from your fav restaurants to pull up as well. Easily add in your favs too!! Go for it!!! Seriously. I have but been paid for this review. I track calories and protein intake. This makes life easy!!

Great but needs to update scanner. The app works amazing for me and I love using it. It really helps me keep up and stay on track however I will say I think it needs to update it’s scanner some of the items I cook with and try add in via the scanner doesn’t work because they don’t have that item in their inventory or data base or whatever then I have to go in and add the item and all it’s facts in which can be kinda tedious when it doesn’t know multiple items per meal but other than that I think it’s a great apl

Easy To Use. No Scanned Food To Help Entry. I’ve been using the app for over two weeks and like the straightforward design and ease of navigation. There are a couple tricky things to learn how to do, since there is no instructions included, but, for the most part, is simple to understand, including using decimal points to adjust meal portions. The app is lacking a food database, so you have to enter *every* food you eat, including something as simple as Cheerios. It has taken so long to enter every day’s food, I have almost quit using the app a few times. Hopefully, you eat a lot of the same things over again.

Very helpful to track food intake and activity. I’ve been using Calorie King for 13 months now mainly for tracking food intake and I’ve lost almost 60 pounds. Since I’m tracking Carbs, fiber, protein, calories and fat I’ve been able to manage each of those categories and have been able to get off my two Metformin pills and Lisinopril that I’ve taken every day for the past 10 years. My Cholesterol and Lipids are way down and my Testosterone has increased back into a normal range. My A1C is 5.4 which is the lowest it’s ever been and that’s after stopping all the Metformin. In conjunction with Calorie King I use MapMyWalk by Under Armour. My goal is about 20 miles per week and have been able to do that for the past 13 months. I’m 6’3” and 240 pounds down from 300. I’m 70 years old. I highly recommend Calorie King and MapMyWalk for tracking food intake and exercise.

My calorie counter of choice. My Fitness Pal worked great, but I was looking for something more streamlined and that wouldn’t bombard me with constant notifications and challenges. I really like Calorie King’s clean design and functions. A little work is still needed on getting more foods added to the database, but that will come with time I’m sure. Really, really like this app and highly recommend! Calorie tracking apps = answer to prayer! 🙏🏼

Best So Far. This is the best calorie counter I’ve used so far. I still have to manually enter the majority of my foods because the barcodes aren’t in the system. Even simple things like quinoa flakes aren’t in the database. Since I purchase the majority of my foods in bulk or fresh, it’s time consuming to input each item. I suppose it’s worth it to know the information I’m using is correct though. Despite this seemingly huge drawback, the actual functionality, simplicity, and usability of this app is considerably better than any other calorie tracking app I have used, and I will continue using it!

Needs I to interface with major apps. CalorieKing does not interface with the Apple iPhone ‘Health Data’. This app should automatically populate with your exercise recorded in your iphone. Also, if you enter 1 egg or 1 bacon in your meal diary, it should populate your entry with nutritional info automatically. Isn’t CalorieKing a database of just such nutritional information??? Developers take note! Get data from your own huge database and work with other popular phone and internet apps. This diet tracking app would be vastly improved if it pulled data from various sources to correspond to the users entries. Thank you

It’s the Real Deal ( from a healthcare professional). I love this app. It is very helpful for my patients in tracking what they eat, understanding portion sizes and seeing how exercise impacts their daily calories. But more importantly, it is great for me. I have used this for a month and that is the longest I have used any diet plan. It is really a lifestyle plan. It shows you that it is important to stay within a calorie range each day and not just starve yourself. It also encourages you to challenge yourself to increase your daily exercise once you have met your goals. A couple of suggestions for those who are frustrated about not locating the foods and portion sizes that are consumed: 1) use 0.5 or 0.75 for the portion size and the app will adjust accordingly. You can also change the entry data to ounces and enter that way to reflect the portion size. 2) enter components of the food e.g. 2 meatballs and 0.25 submarine bread roll to reflect the size of the sandwich that was eaten. Good job! The little enthusiastic coach is good too- could use more of that.

Liking it so far, Wish I could sync with Health App. I really appreciate the no-frills approach, and that there’s no need for a subscription to use basic features. Adding recipes is pretty simple, even if the food database doesn’t have all of the brands available here in New England. The only thing I wish was an option would be to sync with other apps, like Health or the gym apps I use, so I could get more accurate calorie counts. Hopefully, this gets added in the future!

Keeps getting better. I have used this app for several years now and find it very helpful. Their upgrades over the years have made it much more user friendly. Since I travel a lot internationally and use different phones, I like that, once logged in, I can input my data for the day onto one phone and it will immediately show up on another phone, as long as I am logged onto the same account. Also, I like being able to input customized foods, for all those good German and Hungarian foods I eat. The major downside I have found over the years is that you must spell entries exactly like they are in the app’s database, otherwise, the program will not recognize your entry and may give you a “no results/matches”, that can be frustrating for us spelling “challenged” folks. Obviously, this has not stopped me from using it. Like any calorie counting app, YOU MUST USE IT TO BE EFFECTIVE!!!! Good luck:-)

Most accurate, easy to use. Thank you so much for updating the app! I tried other apps but, to me, CalorieKing is much more accurate and easier to track carbs. I was using the site as well, but the app is much more convenient. This app is very easy to use. It has a large database of foods and you are able to add foods not found by entering the label info. Once you add it, you don’t have to do it again. I like that you can also enter your own recipes, and you can quickly add recently used items. I think this app is an excellent tool for Type 1 diabetics and food management!

The perfect app to keep you on track. I'm using this app and believe is better than others. The most I love it's free. I'm taking a Nutrition Course and since I'm using it, i can keep track of my health. I've lost 6 lbs in 4 weeks, and have learned to control my diet by setting a goal. I would recommend to make it feasible to transfer the info to the Health app, and to add a way to scan the products to get the info you need in this app. Thank you for such a great app!

Easy to use...just needs two things to improve on. I do like like this app. It is simple and easy to use. I can track calories and macros and water intake. The only two things I would say to make this app even better are: 1. Calculate remaining macros in summary...just like the app does it for remaining calories. 2. Improve barcode scanner. I tried scanning a low-fat cottage cheese brand and it couldn’t pull it up. I was surprised. Overall, I think it is a great free app to track the necessities. I recommend it.

Fabulous!. It’s great! To make smaller portions, use a decimal point! It works well. Making my own recipes is a breeze. If you want to lose weight, figure OUT how to weigh a chunk of cheese, or you’ll undoubtedly eat way more calories than you think or need. I lost 48 lbs in under a year with the help of this app! the visuals and many options for which nutrients to track or not. I’m endlessly impressed with the volume of brand name items or my own which are easy enough to estimate or measure, check packaging and get it right, measure!

Great Features, Bad content. This app is great...at first. I love the layout and how you can customize settings for you! That part is fabulous! The MAJOR downside I have found with this app is the content. Nearly every time I scan an item to add it to my log I get a message saying that item isn’t in their system & they are adding things constantly. Well... I’m assuming they are only adding things as users actually do the work to add items because their catalog is very low. I wish they would add more items and I would give this app a much higher rating...as it is...I’m very disappointed with it.

Perfectly simple. If you are looking for simple, low thought calorie counter/food log, this is it. I only use it to log my meals and snacks and count my calories, nothing fancy, just simple and basic. Now that may not be for most people, some people like all the bells and whistles and in-depth analysis, and if you are that person this probably isn’t for you. But what I get with this app, is something basic and low stress that I can log my calories with and have no ads or upgrade interruptions. I would give a 10 star if I could.

Ap problems. I used to LOVE this ap and have been using it for a long time. HOWEVER recently I updated my phone and was able to obtain the most recent version. Unfortunately when I did this, the ap isn’t really working for me. It freezes every time I attempt to enter food eaten and won’t let me enter them. I also noticed there is ads now. I don’t mind the ads, HOWEVER the purpose of the ap is kind of lost with the inability to enter food eaten.

Success. I found that if I track everything I eat this app has been very helpful in establishing a good routine both eating healthier and exercise. I have lost 33lbs and maintained it. I have also used the recipe feature to create low-fat meats. It’s a habit now to track. Thank you because I can’t afford a expensive diet program that doesn’t work for me 😎

Finally an app that helps me!. When I was first diagnosed with diabetes my diabetes coach showed me this app for tracking purposes. It allows a lot of flexibility in what you want to accomplish for weight loss. It helps you to really realize what you are consuming on a daily basis and also keeps you on track with drinking plenty of water which is a key to weight loss. You can track carbs as well as calories and fat so that you can make better decisions for meal planning. It allows you to put in a recipe of your own and add a food that is specific to what you are normally eating. I have already lost 20 pounds over the last month and it is refreshing to see that I am finally on the right path and not following some fad diet with little direction. Basically the key is to consume less calories than you burn a day and you will lose weight! Good luck everyone!

Issues with app. I've been using Calorie King for a year. Have an issue with the app being able to record the photo scan. It's difficult to know the exact calories of restaurant foods as the app doesn't show foods. Will continue to use the app because I've added so many items. If I'd know this was an issue I would not have started using this app. Interesting, try to write a review and every nickname I use has already been used. That curious when I use my name

I got this to calculate recipe calories, and there are barely any foods in the data base.. I have to manually input all of the nutritional information for everything I eat. There is no point to using this app. It is faster if I hand write it down and calculate portions with a calculator. If the food is sold at Costco, Walmart, or other national chain retailer it should already be in here. I would understand if a specialty food from a small, independent retailer isn’t in here. They are just using users as free information gathers. I never rate apps, but I was so annoyed by this within 5 minutes that I felt compelled to go out of my way and warn people against it. Back to Fat Secret.

Lost 28 lbs using this app. I have used this app for several years. Like most dieters I have gained and lost many pounds. With the Covid 19 virus staying at home, I decided to try it again. I like this app because it is easy to enter your food and exercises and it keeps track of everything. I also like it because I cook most of my own food following a recipe and this app lets you to calculate the calories and nutrients per serving, as well as entering new food types which are stored. So far I’ve lost about 28 pounds and am close to my goal. I recommend this app to anyone who wants to lose and track your weight. I am now trying to maintain my weight and I continue to use this app to track my food intake and exercise. So far, so good.

Old school calorie counting. Went through a few apps then remembered this one, which years ago I used on line. The app is easy to use and easy to scale by ounces or grams. Pair this with a kitchen scale and you’ll know your calorie intake. I don’t use the exercise counter in the app, because I don’t want to offset my food intake by workout data (suggesting I could eat more). I’d rather keep my calorie intake within a healthy range for me (easy to set in the app). I like that I can copy meals from day to day and it’s easy to enter foods and recipes into the database. It’s simple to use and exactly what I needed to get me back to mindful eating.

Ads don’t bother paying for a year. You’ll just be wasting your money I paid for a year and I’m still getting inundated with ads every Time I try to enter of food or exercise it is absolutely ridiculous I have contacted customer service to absolutely no avail none!!!! And by the way unless you give them a full star rating you can’t put a comment in you can’t complain nothing just more of the same so although this is written as a five star I wouldn’t give it a one star for their customer service they are zero help and only take your money.. boo calorie King

Wonderful so far!. I love this app at this very moment! I like it much more than previous apps I’ve tried especially because at this moment things aren’t locked behind a monthly fee. I don’t mind a simple one time fee, if it is a good app, because I feel that’s fair. So far I’m really impressed with this app and like it far more than many I’ve tried. It’s simple and very informative. I hope if they do choose to make an changes in the future they’re good choices because so far this one is perfect for me :-)

Great app to aid in your journey.. Found out last year(2019) I was a type 2 diabetic. A1c was 10.6 never had that problem but runs in the family. I knew nothing about my new condition. Research taught me a lot and I found this app and use it everyday. I came down to 4.9 A1c in just 4 months and as of today I am 90 pounds lighter. No medication no weight lose surgery and no crazy diets. I track everything using this app.

Easy to use and perfect for what you’re looking for. I started using Calorie king back in January of 2017 and it couldn’t have been easier or more user friendly. Log in, create an account, and already feel like youre putting your body to shame with your calorie counts! I event sent an email to the developers of the app about them adding something to it and they responded quickly, kindly, and with a pleasant response of them adding it. Great app with a lot of care about the people using it.

Just what I needed. This app is what I’ve been looking for! I tried to lose weight for years and finally found a diary system that works for me. Being able to have food, exercise and water consumption all in one app is great. I’m able to keep track easily and see progress. It’s easy to enter food from the app’s database or add your own food/recipes. I lost 30 pounds using this journal system. I think because it is easy and motivational to see the progress.

Exactly what I needed. This app has been amazing. There’s no intrusive alerts or very many ads (maybe 1 every 5 days). I can look at my macros, water, weight, exercise, and easily add foods that may not be listed. I’ve tried other apps to track these things but they were either too limited, behind a paywall or just got annoying to use. The simplicity of this app is perfect! Thank you developer for making this. You have made an amazing app!

Amazing Tracker. This is the best easy , convenient tool to manage my health and wellness goals. The massive data uploaded in their App, the ability to scan barcodes, plus the memorization of my previous entry make efficient in regard of time management and effective tool to follow my plans . I use it with other three apps to complement my weight and fitness plans. My recommendation is to include fitness calories calculation, detailed calc breakdown and weight tracker . Also sharing healthy recipes that may relate to my goals , and maybe recommend it to others . Also community group following the same goal to encourage each other .

What happened?. This app used to be user-friendly you could look some thing up log it in the journal and if you didn’t have it you could into the information yourself that’s the way it used to be. now it has almost nothing in the database it doesn’t log that well you can download the other part which does have food information but when you trying to log it on theFood log out but it does not load the information from the food information app. So I hope this gets red by the user or the programmers and they fix this problem otherwise I just used up memory on my phone to download two apps that don’t even work together and if it continues to be a problem I will find a different analog logging app. One that actually has a database that coordinates with the food log. I hate to leave a bad review but I really liked the way it used to be this new way is very not user-friendly and I am disappointed in app now.

Vital tool!. I can’t recommend this enough. Its insanely easy to input your data, syncs immediately between devices, and lets you set serving sizes then adjust when adding to a meal depending on what you actually eat (so easy). The check ins are so helpful. I honestly can’t imagine succeeding in my diet without this. I’m doing keto, and this is wicked handy for tracking macros especially since I repeat a lot of ingredients. The first week was a lot of meticulous input, but week 2 was a breeze. An absolute necessity.

Fantastic and free. This app takes a little time to set up. I found I had to install all the food I ate so in the beginning it took some time as I looked up the nutritional content of foods and typed it in. But now it is fantastic! If you need to record a food diary for weight control or diabetes this app is both flexible and accurate!

Smooth to use with comprehensive database. Update November 2022: quick resolution from customer support when iOS update 16.1.1 caused problems. Free with unobtrusive adds, intuitive interface and comprehensive database, including many Australian brands. Only improvement I would like is more Aldi products in database. Superior to free version of Cronometer, which doesn’t split food into meals and has very obtrusive adds, and to MyFitnessPal, which has a dubious database in terms of accuracy, and large adds.

Great OZ app but no apple health integration?. I am loving the app after moving from the regular CalorieKing app, It has so many foods and I am constantly suprised at whats in the database, being able to bring up recents and creat my own recipies is a huge time saver. This would be a 5 star for me if it had apple health integration. My phone already records my exercise, I dont want to be re recording this information and as a diabetic I would find it far more useful if it worked with the health app, bringing my carbs, calories, etc over. Its now 2017 this should be a givien for any health and fitness app, very disappointing.

Great app but reporting is badly lacking. Love this app but was hoping that if I subscribed I might be able to print my diary to send to my health professional. Unfortunately not so. Big shortfall. The subscription would make it worth it. Please consider this improvement. I think it would be a big plus. Otherwise excellent database of Australian foods but not useful for my main needs.

No longer working. I love this app and have been using this and the book for years. Unfortunately since the last iOS update the app no longer works. I’m still giving the app five stars though as it’s been amazing up until now and I’m sure (hoping) it will be fixed 🤞

Was great, now has login wall. This app *was* a superb offline, local-only food database and diary with rapid entry. Now it has an annoying login screen that pesters you to sign up/in and sync your data with the cloud. Despite having a "skip" option, it doesn't remember and keeps popping up. Really annoying when you're trying to enter a food entry *quickly*. I *don't* want to sync my data with any online service. That was my main reason for paying for this app. Will update review to five stars if dev decides to be less aggressive with login.

Easy to use. This app is easy to use and remembers all your most used foods and brings them to the top of any searches. The only gripe is that sometimes, when you search for something simple, say coffee, it will give you so many results it takes a few minutes to find the one you want. But this is probably the case with all diet diaries. Good app, simple and effective.

Can’t use with iOS 14. I have been using this app since May and have loved it - it’s much simpler and easy to use compared to other calorie counting apps. However I recently downloaded the iOS 14 update and now this app freezes and nothing happens when I try to add a meal / exercise. I’m very sad, I’m hoping this can be rectified soon because myfitnesspal is driving me mad.

Great. Makes me low key obsessed with counting calories but other than that it’s a great app. Helps you keep track of water consumption too. It has a lot of brands built in so if you bought a specific type of bread you don’t have to guess how many calories it has. Almost no faults :)

So easy to use.. I am loving this app! SO easy to use. It’s great because it’s Australian and so far I have found pretty much every product I’ve searched for. You can add your ingredients every time you cook, and then divide into servings to find the calories. I even created a ‘recipe’ for my tea and coffee so I don’t have to log the milk and sugar separately. This app has made tracking so easy.

Just buy it. You’ll never look back. I’ve struggled to lose and keep off weight for a long, long time. This app has been critical to not just loss, but sustained change. You will learn foods you thought were “healthy” actually aren’t (ps I break up with you cheese). It helps you track your weight loss, exercise burnt calories etc. it takes away the guilt or a cheat meal if you know exactly what you need to do to burn it off. Ie in 8 weeks I’ve lost 16 kilos and counting. I also enjoyed KFC with my family this week for my Monthly cheat meal. I then walked 7.6km (Runtastic is amazing by the way) and burnt off the entire meal. I went to bed guilt free and the next day woke up to weight loss! Loss after KFC! Honestly this has changed my life, my health and my marriage. Thank you

Great product for food management but doesn’t account for exercise well. For many years I have used this app to manage my food intake (it has most foods though is a bit slow to add in trending kinds of foods). I have always found the calorie counting good but the exercise part very clunky. Now I am doing the 10,000 steps program I’m feeling quite disgruntled because I have to leave the app to calculate the calories used in my steps in another app, then go back into this app and make up a walking speed and time spent walking that adds up to the calories I’ve burned. Really I feel in 2018 when everyone is using pedometers that this app could get with the program!

This is the way. With this app I was finally able to understand what all the numbers meant, to take control of my weight, only down side is website drops out and it does not link my results to other devices I’m using.

Does take some investment, but pays off. Have used this for years on and off and have never felt the need to look elsewhere. There are quite a few items I’ve needed to manually add (probably about 30 or so food items in the last couple years) in order for me to be able to easily log everything I eat, but it has totally paid off. Super easy to log everything (especially if you’re eating similar meals day after day, you can just repeat them) and actually quite satisfying. Quite accurate too; I’ve calculated my calorie deficit in the app against my actual weight loss, and it’s pretty spot on- so easy and trustworthy.

Great app. I really enjoy this app and prefer it over my fitness pal. However, since one of the latest updates, when creating a new food and adding the nutritional info such as calories, protein etc, when you enter a field, the views scrolls right to the bottom of the page, so you have to scroll back up to where you were entering the numbers and add there. It’s a bit frustrating when entering the full nutritional info of new food products. Some features that might be good to include in future update: the ability to add protein, fibre etc goals to see how you’re tracking along the day, also the ability to see your macro nutritient breakdown of calories consumed, eg 30% protein, 40% carbs, 30% fat, along with the ability to set targets on the ratios.

Awesome weight loss program. I have used CalorieKing program for a number of years. It is the most sensible weight control program I know. It is easy to use and has helped me make more healthy and nutritious choices in my daily diet. As a person who has no real idea of “portion sizes”, I really like having to weigh foods for calorie content. I also love being able to enter my own recipes, and know just what nutrients and calories they contain. Thank you CalorieKing.

Back to 5 Stars—Quick Patch Fixed Apple Issues. Within days of informing the app developers of a bug with Apple’s latest iOS16 and food entires, all issues were fixed with a patch. If you’re looking for a robust food database and calorie counter, with easy food customisation and responsive customer service—buy this 5-star app. It truly works a treat.

Misleading calorie goals. I put my calorie goal for 1500 calories consumed with daily exercise. Once I enter my exercise say I burnt 200 calories. It adds that additional 200 calories on to the daily calorie limit and says i have 1700 calories remaining. This is really stupid because technically I still have consumed the calories I have eaten you can’t just minus it from your daily allowance once you exercise or I could end up accidentally eating hundreds of calories over my daily goal. Exercise entered should not affect your daily calorie goal. I’ve looked in settings and can’t find anywhere to change this silly set up

Love this app. Have used this app for years - it’s great, has loads of Australian food items and is super simple to use - everything I want from a food diary and weight management tool. BUT something seems to be broken with it at the moment - I can no longer manually adjust the energy and weight targets in my profile. I switch the ‘accept recommendations’ off and try to overwrite the data but it reverts back to the recommended figures. Please fix - otherwise a perfect app!

Fantastic app to keep eating under control. I have always found diet and meal plans difficult to stick to. This app motivates me to eat well by allowing me to see how many kj’s are in foods before I eat them and decide whether they are worth eating, given my daily allowance. It also motivates me to exercise so I can increase my daily kj allowance. It’s easy to add foods, but lots of foods are already loaded so it saves time. Highly recommend!

Sensible. I’m old enough to have used the book for calorie counting many many years ago. The App is brilliant. It’s simple to use, great data base for Australia and has over the years helped me enormously to get my weight down with a recent goal of 11 kg loss. I intend tracking for maintenance for the foreseeable future. I also as suggested by others, wish you could choose not to have the calories burned with exercise subtracted from your total daily limit. It’s stopped me recording the exercise. If you could pop in that in as an option guys it would be perfect!

iOS 14 appears to have broken app.. This app assisted me to lose a significant amount of weight years ago. I wanted to get back to tracking my intake but the recent iOS 14 update seems to have broken the app when trying to add foods to your day. The app locks up. Please update this fantastic app. :)

Okay. The App is generally set out well but it is not always easy to search for foods when entering daily intake or creating a recipe. There is also a limited range of options for several foods in terms of portion sizes, unless you weigh all foods. It seems that many common supermarket brand foods are hard to locate in the App. Some information seems to be incomplete or inaccurate; in any e.g if counting caffeine intake, and drinking tea, the App shows that tea has no caffeine.

Indispensable. This app helped me reverse T2 diabetes and lose over25kg in the process. It’s Australian-based database makes things a lot easier. Others have mentioned a few quirks of the app - mine is that, upon retrieving a recipe, the “edit” function won’t work until I rotate the entire iPad from landscape to portrait or vice versa. Being able to enter a recipe is a great feature, which would be significantly improved if the cooking duration, temperature and time were able to be associated with the recipe. A small point, but if you’re customising recipes to suit your circumstances having these details in the app would be a real time-saver.

The best. I have been using Alan Borshek’s material to lose weight on and off for the last 30 years. In my experience calorie counting is simpler and works just as well if not better better than all the flash diet. You just need to make sure that you vary your diet to cover all food groups, but the calorie limit encourages you to fill up on low calorie, filling stuff like veges anyway. The awesome is awesome too, saves me writing down what I have eaten every day.

Brilliant app. I have done the CSIRO plan previously and they use recording of your foods during the day and describe it as food groups in units. This app describe the a protein, fibre etc breakdown as a % of daily allowance. To track your intake of various fibre, protein is just as good, but you still need good diet understanding to make this work for you in balance. This app also allows yo to enter recipes of your own, same as csiro online diet. I would lie to see this app label the snacks so at a glance you can see w you have eaten rather than click on each thing to find out. This app is a great find. Thank you soooo much!

Updated for iOS 14. Version 2.1.8 has got it working with iOS 14 and updated the food database. I bought this app back in 2015 and it has been updated for FREE for every iOS update since. Ignore the recent 1 star ratings - Apple launched iOS 14 with less than one day lead time - so many developers were left with broken apps. Great app.

App with iPhone keeps freezing when I try and add meals or exercise. I didn’t have problems in the past and like using this app, but I literally can’t use the iPhone app any more because it is freezing every time I try and add meals. I think it is when the ads load everything else stops. Please fix this bug!

Great app but could use a few improvements. This is a great app, especially for Aussie users. I would like to see a couple of improvements though in future updates. - I would like to have the choice to set weekly activity targets rather than daily, as I don’t do the exact same amount of exercise every day. Weekly targets also allow for rest days. - being able to interface with the Apple health app or activity trackers such as Fitbit/Bellabeat/Garmin would be fantastic to track daily steps. - a barcode scanner for foods would be awesome as sometimes finding specific brand can be tricky and I end up doing a bit of guesswork. Overall, a great tool and I can’t wait to see what improvements are to come!

Bring back the original. I found the original version much more user friendly. The sign in screen is annoying and I don’t see the point of signing in. And it seems like you have to click more than before to enter a meal etc. I would give it 5 stars if the old, less complicated version returned. Because it’s otherwise a very accurate app and comprehensive food database

Best food logger for Australians. This is by far the best food logger for Australians with a huge data base and simple menus to add new foods. The ability to quickly create a recipe is fantastic and saves a lot of time in the long run. The biggest negative of this app is the lack of interaction with ios Health. I use a gps tracker for my exercise & because this interaction is not there waste time transferring exercise data into the CalorieKing/ControlMyWeight ap when it automatically uploads to Health. This lack of functionality causes me to try and explore other food trackers regularly and thus not give 5 stars.

Great app for Australia. Really refreshing and convenient to have an app that pretty much has all the stuff you can buy off the shelf in Au and it’s pretty easy to add in your own recipes. Even better the app remembers which foods you regularly eat so it doesn’t take too much for the daily process to get easier. Given the volume of data it collects and has access to, it’s a real pity that the reports section can’t be tailored more - for instance I’d like to track cumulative calories under/over target as this is really what drives weight loss/gain. Not the daily stuff.

Good and bad. I’ve always used Calorie King and probably will continue, but recently tried MyFitnessPal and realised it had some aspects that I love. Being able to scan bar codes of food items makes it so easy to log foods and I also like that it links to your fitness apps like Strava and Health. I’d be swapping over if it wasn’t that I have to many recipes and foods attached to my Calorie King.

Best weight loss app. If you want to lose weight easily, want to know what your eating, lack a particular mineral/vitamins, then this app is perfect for you. From calories to calcium, sat. fat, cholesterol and more type into app what you just ate to see what’s inside it. You can add your own recipe, add portions, search for particular brand, exercise and water. I’ve been using for last 4plus months and will continue as it has helped me to lose weight and keep it off. I can eat whatever as I check what’s inside food to gain what I need each day. Thx heaps for fixing app. Best on the net

What I love what I hate. What I love about this app is the variety of measurements available for the food, from grams or servings to ml basically any way that you can imagine. Things I would like is being able to share that data with apple health. The second improvement that I would like to see is steps being able to be used for exercise, again being able to share information with apple health.

Great for those who are serious. I have found this app really easy to use. And using it really has opened my eyes to what I am actually putting into my body. For example Doctors told me to reduce my salt intake which always left me baffled as I never added salt to anything - trouble is salt is pretty well IN EVERYTHING! So I now use portion size to control that intake as well as use this app to check then actively avoid foods with excess salt. The things we learn.

Great Keto manager. Calorie King helps me track all my macros on my keto diet, I have it set up to show them in the most important order, fats - protein - carbs. You may at times not find the exact match in the food selection but a good guess will get you close to the nutritional blurb on most keto foods, it really high lights where your carbs are leaking into your diet or if you are consuming far too many proteins per meal. Best of luck all you ketoers

Finally an app that doesn’t add to disordered eating mentality. Finally an app that facilitates smart weight loss and doesn’t add to disordered eating like MyFitnessPal. The nutrition information is accurate and adding exercise minuses what you would have burned in that same time without exercising and adjusts to allow more energy based on activity level which is the correct way to be in a deficit. I have never had such consistent and comfortable weight loss because finally I’m not trying (and failing) to achieve unrealistic and unreasonable targets that have been set in other apps

Easy to use, intuitive app. I’ve used this app for years on and off and although I try others I always come back to this one. The only improvement I would suggest is more original food choices rather than always having to adapt some ‘junk’ food choice. For eg, I wanted to add gravy (which had been home made from oxo and flour) and my nearest choice was KFC gravy.

Useful. I lost 20 kg using the CalorieKing website 12 years ago. Then my husband became critically ill and I let it all go. I gained the weight back. I decided to do calorie king again and found the website was gone and this app and s similar website to this app took its place. I’ve been using it off and on but don’t get the motivation the old website gave me. Also the old website had meals like pasta bolognaise with averages for home cooked meals without just using things that are in the shop. It would say roast lamb meal, typical... since I cook from scratch I have to add all my ingredients by hand and make a custom food. I think the app is the best there is and very convenient, but doesn’t come close to the ild website. Please bring it back!

Recipe ingredient storage. Love this app - supports me with managing to get through the keto day. The only improvement I would like to see is being able to view the ingredients of the keto recipe’s that I have created. This would be really beneficial so that I could edit recipes and manage to maintain the macro counts easily.

Great App. I’ve been using the app for years now and I think it’s great! It’s easy to use and has a huge amount of Australian options in it which can be hard to find in other apps. I think it could be improved if it had a barcode scanner! That would make things sooooo much better! Also, it would be great if the app had an option where it didn’t alter the calories and left them how they were regardless of what exercise was input! It gets frustrating when I have to track in two apps bc of this small issue. Thanks.

Great. Great for knowing most serving sizes for most foods. Has many Australian products on the database. One time there was a glitch with the app and the developer got back to me within 4 hours with the problem fixed. MUCH better than their competition. Now this is my only food / exercise diary that I use. Thank you.

Finally on track!. I had a little hiccup with this app when I started using it after a break. The user recommendations for my profile were too high and I ended up putting on weight 😣 Anyway, I reported the issue and the crew responded well. In the meantime I found a review from someone who had the same issue as me and recommended setting the calorie level to match the sample plan in the book which I happened to have handy. Pleased to say that now finally on track and the sample plan works hand in hand with the app. Grab a copy of the book too in case your out and need to check the stats of what you want to eat.

Don’t waste another day !. I’ve been monitoring my weight daily since the start of this year 2020 and I’ve had some success... but since starting to use this app CalorieKing I can now know if I’m going to lose weight within each 24 hour cycle or not .... don’t leave your weight loss to guess work or chance get motivated and get this app CalorieKing!!

Good but not perfect. I really love this app because the food list is more accurate, with no access to other users input! I only see the foods from calorie king and foods that I have added off of nutritional info. However, I have reverted to using MyFitnessPal as I can 1) set macro/nutrient goals and percentages and 2) I can accurately track my water intake up to as much as I want (my current goal is to drink 3.4L a day). The 8 glasses “ideal” on your app is not enough! Still I’m going to keep the app on my phone and check it for updates in case improvements are made.

Fantastic product. Calorie king is a fantastic support for those of us who need to watch away! It would also be a great support for people just interested in the nutritional values of the foods that eating. I particularly like the fact that it’s easy to find Australian foods, it is made for Australia which saves you having to trawl through and convert American nutritional guide lines. Keep up the good work. Helen- Adelaide.

Great for Australians but room for improvement. I’ve been using the Calorie King for many years. It’s a great food database for Australians which includes the vast majority of Australian grocery items as well as unpackaged foods. It’s very easy to add foods to a meal and create recipes to calculate macros. I like that you can see the macros for individual items, meals and the whole day (other apps only let you see the cumulative macros *cough My Fitness Pal). As well as using the app you can also log onto the website and make entries - although the FAQ say you can’t. The reporting features could do with some finessing. You can only see your total calories by day. It would be great to see graphs of individual macros (carbs, protein, fat) by day and even filtered by meal. Likewise it would be great to see some summaries and daily averages for a weekly/monthly period. Currently exercise calories are automatically deducted from calories consumed. It would be great to have an option to record exercise calories but not include in the daily net calories. Integration with the Apple Health app would be awesome and perhaps Apple Watch reminders when you haven’t added a meal and how many calories you have remaining for the day. The ability to extract the entries so they can be printed or sent to a health professional would also be great. Otherwise this is a fab and easy to use app for Australians 🇦🇺

Lacking functionality. The app is good and refreshing compared to competitor apps, but it’s lacking in functionality. There’s no ability to pay for a premium version so you’re forced to look at ads forever. It also can’t connect to Apple Health Kit to update your kilojoules burned or update your weight. It also prompts you for a rating every 10 seconds until you do leave a rating which is very annoying. A bit of an investment of time and effort from the developer would make the experience a lot better.

Really great app (from a cynic!). Actually a good app. Really good for free. Much of this is about timing (ie I’m ready to count my calories/lose weight) and so far it’s good. I’m now sooo conscious of how easy it is to get to 2200 calories. Ridiculous. Now I’m really cutting back on snacks to make sure I hit my target. The pressure of the goal is stronger than my previous incessant snacking which is good. Also good data on the weight side but daren’t weigh myself yet. So far so good. Recommend if you’re goal orientated like me and need an easy/quick method to monitor.

Lazy at best, dangerous at worst.. This app seems to be using a lot of questionable and biased science. I would really advise against using their recommended targets especially as a petite woman or you may receive targets that could endanger your health and push you towards disordered eating. Instead please talk to a dietician or at least your family doctor before jumping on an app like this and having it seem like 1100 calories a day is reasonable or safe for any grown adult!! That’s wildly untrue. I like the simple interface and how easy it is to save my recipes and was excited to have something paired down that wasn’t pushing as much toxic diet culture on me as much as other apps (an impossible find it seems) I really just wanted something that lets me put in my food and then can show me my overall nutrition at the end of the day and this app does that well. The feature of having a goal or highlighted nutrients is really nice BUT wasted on ONLY being usable towards calories and exercise. Why can’t I set a protein goal? Or iron or anything I’m working on getting every day to SUPPORT my health goals? This isn’t an exercise tracking app anyways so why is that given precedence over actual food related goals? All in all this app flattens health into simple calories in and calories out to promote weight loss regardless of how safe that actually is for anyone without guidance or further information on supporting their health. Unless you have guidance elsewhere please avoid this app! It’s not a full picture of health and is just one tool. One small, honestly unhelpful tool in the long run.

On Track. I am very pleased with this app since it allows me to keep on track with the amount of food I consume. Easy to use.

At Least It’s Free .... So the cost is primarily what led me to getting this app. And the ratings. It’s decent. But ... why are the US and Australia the only region choices? There are other countries in the world ... The second thing is the lack of foods in the apps’ database. So many of them need to be entered manually, which is time consuming. And scanning the items’ barcode? I tried 10 different common items and they all were not in their system. I would suggest that the creators of this app go to a supermarket and just spend the day inputting items into its database. This is kinda of a big detraction and is what is preventing me from giving the app a higher rating.

Fun to use. Easy to understand. Many food/ingredients are pre-stored 👍🏽

Best Calorie Tracker. If your looking to monitor and adjust you calorie intake to loose weight. This is the app for you! It has all the great features you need for one low price!! No subscriptions needed! Using this tool I have lost nearly 30 lb by watching what you eat and adjusting the calories to what you need! Get this NOW!!

Incredible. For the first time in my life I've tracked what I eat and recorded it on this app and I have lost 21lbs. This app is so easy to use and worth every penny, thank you so much!!

Great App- easy to use. I was feeling pretty intimidated at the thought of tracking my eating habits, but then my husband started and we are now both tracking. The first couple of days it takes time to add the food, but if you are like us, we eat a lot of the same foods. That makes it easy to add because once they are in there they are in and easy to use. I like that it tracks fitness too, and then adjusts calories. If you are doing keto, you need to calculate your own net carbs, but that is dead simple anyway. I also like that there is a data base of already entered foods. I have yet to have a food found using the scanner, but it takes only a minute to enter. Honestly, I would never have used an app like this because it seemed overwhelming to add another thing to my day, but it takes no time.

Amazing App. I have a lot more pounds to go, but I started the app three weeks ago and I lost 11 pounds.

Help!. I live in Canada. It seems you have not loaded Canadian foods?

Awesome!!. This app is really great for keeping track of calories! It's got lots of awesome ways to see the recipes that are home made! The app is pretty cheap which is a big plus! Weight watchers has nothing on this!

User. This app is not set up to do fast entries the good data base isn't very good either don't even think it has a barcode scan option not impressed.

Food label scans don’t work. On every food I have tried to scan the barcode for it has not worked. Some of the foods are in the “food search” page but not on the barcode scan, it’s a little frustrating. Also there are hardly if any gluten free or dairy free options. Please update!

Regional Coverage. The only reason I have rated 3 and not higher is because there are only to regions to set the app up. America & Australia. Otherwise great app with easy to use interface.

App doesn’t work after iOS 14 update. Pls fix!

Not for Diabetics. Unfortunately this is of little use to Diabetics. Fundamental to Diabetes blood sugar control is Carbohydrate counts which dictate Insulin requirements. This application shows total carbs alright, but not the number which is critical to insulin bolus calculation, that is total carbs minus fibre count. It is a pity that the author does not allow the application to serve the needs of both calorie counters and diabetic carbohydrate counters.

Does not work with iPhone X. Few complaints until I got a new phone! Will not sync out from the iPhone X will sync in but not out!

Percentages!!!!!. Great app but needs percentages!!!

Worth it!. Really nice app! Could use some added features and tweaks like being able to navigate through the days while viewing your daily nutritional summary instead of having to toggle back to the log screen. Fast and simple to use. Occasionally log food to a meal and the button to save it won't work - have to cancel and re-enter it. Small snag. Would also be nice to connect data to a desktop account (not the paid account since we already bought an app) for more robust reporting and logs.

Easy to use. Great app! It helps me keep track of my calories. It’s much better than other apps as you can put in different portion sizes and get an accurate calorie count.

Love it!. So easy to use! All food options are available to choose. I find that i can control what i eat and entering data into my phone app is perfect because if i forget to add a food then i can revise at any time!

ios14. Will the app be updated for ios14? Currently does not work.

Lost 10 lbs in 3 weeks. Wow. This app worth it: It works for me. Lots of foods in calorie calculator what isn't there you can create manually. Includes many brand name foods like McNuggets. It lists recent meals first so with time it learns what you usually eat. It progressively adjusts your calorie goals as you enter your weight at checkpoints. Worth every cent.

Disappointing. I learned of this app reading Michael Mathew’s book Bigger, Leaner, Stronger. After using the Lose it! app, CalorieKing lags behind. I have spent 30 minutes manually entering my food items. lol. Technology is spoiling us. With Lose it! I been able to scan the bar code (a great idea) and my nutritional information per my food item choice is immediately provide. The food items I entered today with CalorieKing did not recognize the scan, thus information was entered manually. In the age where the consumer demands immediate results, then CalorieKing will need to improve this shortcoming. I am getting my “feet wet” with this app. I will be following up this review once I have had sufficient time to thoroughly review CalorieKing’s functionality. It would be unfair to rate it below 3.

Nice. Good App easy to use!

Awesome tracker. This app is a part of everyday life, has truly helped me to keep track of things I eat and activities I do! I am on my way to achieve my weight goal! YAY!

Good app. Very easy to learn and to use. Intuitive design. Only concern (and it's a small one) is that the database of foods is not as complete as it could be.

App stops working after iOS 14 update. Need an update to fix the iOS 14 update causing the app to not work

Needs Update for iOS 14!. I loved this app until I updated my iPhone to iOS 14 and now it no longer works properly. I deleted the app and reinstalled and it worked for a few hours and now it doesn’t work again. Please update because this is the best calorie counter available!

I love it. So simple to use without all the silly bells and whistles. The only negative is goal weights and calories it wishes to set for you are waaaayyy to low but thankfully allows you to chance to suit. Wish that there was a calendar where you see your daily calories for the month at a glance.

Overall pretty simple. Scan tool does work at all :( Please fix it👍

Bug fixes and improvements. I prefer the overall "healthier lifestyle" approach of this app in comparison to myfitnesspal, showing healthy fats opposed to just saying I went over my daily fat intake, for example. Although, there are a couple features I like better from myfitnesspal such as: 1) Portions If I want to add 1/3 or even 1/2 a portion of what is given, it automatically calculates as 0 calories, 0 everything and is not accounted for. 2) Search Options I found it very rare to not find a food or brand I was looking for with myfitnesspal. Today, being my first day on the app, I have even had trouble with finding something as simple as a red grapefruit. I think you guys would benefit from widely expanding your search options by connecting to the web somehow. Bug fixes 1) Dates The app will simply not allow me to put my actual birthday, and automatically goes to the date "April, 14th 1997." This is not my birthday and I wish for it to be more accurate with my recommendations accordingly. I hope you guys take this to consideration as I have paid a hefty 6 dollars for this app.

It’s FREE. Lots of complaints about region choice of only 2 countries and as such many foods missing and bar code scanner unable to identify - recall it is free! Works great for me for tracking and limiting consumption, I have entered many recipes quickly, yes it takes a bit of time but what else would you be doing with that time, eating?

Fast. Free version works good for me. Reliable. Use for diabetes carb counting. Database seems extensive enough.

Good functionality. I used Calorie King on my Mac for years. This iOS app brings the core of that desktop functionality to my phone. To get 5 stars it would show the % of each macronutrient on the summary and sync across my phone, iPad & Mac. At least the phone & iPad.

Love using the app!!. The app is easy to use and helps me keep track of what I eat and how many minutes I exercise. Also the water drops to add your water was a great idea. I don’t have to log it in I just click on the water drop and my water is added. Overall, this app is very useful and the best thing it’s FREE!

Finally!. Finally a weight loss app that doesn’t throw things down my throat to buy. And an app that lets you customize your food which is apparently very difficult to find without paying for it. This app is amazing.

Practical, Easy, all you need. The most practical, clear, and useful tracker I’ve ever used and I’ve tried almost all of them. I like that it time stamps meals and exercise and personal settings are open without a $79 a year subscription like MyFitnessPal (which is crazy expensive). Some things are not in the database but are easy enough to add.

The Best. I have several calorie and food tracking apps on my phone and I travel a lot—often overseas. The Calorie King App does not require an internet connection so it is far more convenient than the others. Plus it is the easiest to use. In my book, it’s the best.

Great app. Using it for keto. So for using this app in combination with keto I lost 12 pounds in a little over a month. The app is very flexible has many foods already in the database, and it’s very easy to add new foods. I particularly like the ability to copy meals from one day to the next edit as I often try to automate my meals and not have to think having prepared them in advance day after day.

An app with no purchasing necessary!. I’ve have only been using this app for a couple of days, but I absolutely love it so far! I am trying to stay on a healthy calorie intake and with tracking what I eat and drink makes it so nice! Most foods and drinks are already in the app, but submitting something that’s not pre put in is super easy! Hope I start seeing and feeling the results soon 🙂

Needs lots of updates. I first started with this program when it came out. It was among the best I had ever seen on my laptop. The phone and iPad applications have never done everything that the desktop version does which is a shame. They don’t tell you and track how many of each category you should target to eat and the Desktop version does. With the introduction of the watch and some of the scales that are now Bluetooth compatible it would be great if this application would tie in with the Apple health application and the watch and the connected scales that are on the market now Otherwise for me I find that this application has become obsolete.

This app is excellent!. The app finds you well known brand foods with nutritional facts and lets you add food items with nutritional facts if you’re eating less and reducing the serving amounts. Also great for keeping track of calories gained and lost when you eat and exercise! Recommended app to family and friends.

Best on the market.. Calorie King is the easiest to use diet app on the market. If you’re working to keep yourself honest about carbohydrate intake each day, this is the best app I’ve found. I lost 150 pounds 17 years ago and have kept it OFF for 17 years with Calorie King to keep me aware of just how much I’m really eating.

Just what I was looking for!. I had looked through a lot of apps to find one to help me keep track of my diet, but most of them felt like they were telling me how to diet. This app let me choose how many calories I wanted, made it easy to put in food items and recipes, and was super easy to use!

Annoying game ad. I get if you don’t pay you have to put up with ads, but I did my first weight check in and it played a game ad that had no x to close out of. It pretty much took over my screen and wouldn’t let me do any actions. That’s freaky. Don’t use the app a bunch but we’ll see if I start suddenly get spam calls or emails soon.

My new fav. I used to use Myfitnesspal long before UU got ahold of them and jacked their program up with stupid stuff average people don’t do and advertising. Plus now you have to go premium to actually track right. MyPlate was next but there was no way to adjust my calories for the days and I generally didn’t like the layout and too much extra blah blah which isn’t applicable to the average Jane.

A Great tool. I have tried a few calorie counters and have landed on this one. It is easy to add food that is not already on the extensive bank of foods available. The ability to track exercise is a function I did not think I would use but enjoy having and use often. I have lost 15 lbs just by tracking what I eat and learning to eat correct portions.

Quite Accurate, though it has a way to go still. I’ve tried a few different apps and this is by far the easiest to add exact measurements without fancy math or fractions of servings that make it hard to be exact. I do wish more foods were loaded in, especially produce - both a cooked option and raw. The barcode scanner is great, but many of the foods I scan aren’t in there. This will be easier as I get my “usuals” added.

Limited. I like the app easy to use. The scan option doesn’t work well, can’t find most products. Also when entering a food category it refers many times to fast food restaurant products. I assume they pay for this. In those cases I simply get food info from the package. Harder to do if a resturant that is not in the database. Needs some improvements.

My handy friend. I found out I had diabetes and found this app, it has helped me immensely. I can go out to eat and not have to carry my books to check my carb intake. It clocks my exercise and it also sends inspiring emails to keep me going. I would recommend this app to anyone who needs an extra helping hand.

Great app!. Love that I can keep track of my food intake to stay on my weight loss goals(so far 1 month in!), only downfall is that a lot of the food is not able to be scanned in, but other than that I will be using this app for a very long time to get to my goal weight and maintain my weight! Thank you so much, life changing!!!!

Cool app. Hello, I’ve just started using this app, and I love it. The only thing missing is a place for calories you’ve already burned during the day. I wish that it would sync up to my Fitbit versa and be able to keep track of my calories burned and my calorie intake. But other words it’s a great app and has helped me stay on track so far (since it’s my first week)

Grateful Jackie. I have lost four pounds in less than a week by tracking everything I eat and weighing myself every day. Calorie King is the most amazing App I have used in my life. I am very excited and looking forward to loosing the extra pounds and wearing my beautiful clothes. Thank you Calorie King! I am very grateful because you exist.

Very motivational!!. Ever since I downloaded this app I have felt very motivated to stick to a healthy diet and the calorie intake I set. I have been using it for about two months and I have already lost 2 kg of fat. It’s great to keep track of the macros as well as my sugar intake as I realized using this app that even when I was sticking to the calorie intake, I was often over the limit of fats and sugar. 100% recommended

Please update to iOS 16. This is a great no-frills app that is fabulous for macro tracking and has reliable nutrient information. Unfortunately, after updating to iOS 16, I have had to switch to another app. This one now “converts” every food I choose to the last food I entered before I updated the iOS. Please fix so that I can switch back!

User Friendly - Excellent App. Very user friendly and easy to navigate. I’ve been using for less than a week and tracking my food and water has already resulted in weight loss. Two of my biggest challenges are snacking and the lack of water consumption. I’ve noticed a reduction in water retention after two days of drinking more water.

CalorieKing. I have actively been using this app for almost two weeks and I can honestly say that I love it!! This app helps you keep your carbs and calories in check.. you can also use it to remind yourself to exercise and for how long to keep yourself trim and lean!

The app. The app itself is very easy to use. I’m so happy that it’s free! Calorie counting and water tracking alone is hard. Finding an app that I can do this on, I’ll take the ads because I’m not paying monthly for an app that I can do myself but convenience wise this app is amazing.

recommended!. It’s easy to manage the app, for tracking and controlling my own health. It’s good!! The food options are not much though. I needed to check all the data of my own food and added them to the app by myself. And maybe the interface sometimes can be confusing but I know the tricks now. Hope the developers will consider to change that.

Best App for Keto diet. I love the app, you can enter your own food and recipes and stores them by name. It tracks your daily calories, fat, saturated fat, carbs, protein, fiber, sodium, omega3, etc. You can also track your weight loss. Does pretty much everything you would want. This is still the best app I have found, I would recommend it!

Best App by Far. Searched and downloaded several apps before this one. Other apps want to charge after download or didn’t have all the features I was looking for. Wanted an app that I could log and track weight, calories and exercise calories burned. This app has all that, plus no cost to use. Very easy to use and navigate.

no developer response. I find this app easy to use, and interface follows Apples enlarged text option, so easy for old eyes. Helps you eat what you should. There is some confusion because in app store it is called Control My Weight, while on device it appears as CaloriesKing, same name that appears for their food data base app. Also not obvious how data base info integrates with Control My Weight, if it off does at all. I don't like that there is no way to get rid of adverts in CMW, as I hate to give up the screen real estate Also, while there is an easy procedure for asking questions of developer, and they immediately send a notice they are working on your answer, no answer ever appears, so they only provide an illusion of response. Don't hold your breath waiting for an answer..

Great app for free. This is honestly a great app to help keep track of nutritional values as well as exercise, food plans and calorie intake. The fact that it’s free makes it all the better. The one thing I’d like to figure out is the exercise portion because according to the app if I walk one minute I burn 246 calories but if I walk for three hours I gain 128 calories. I wish that were fixed.

Will gladly come back and give more stars when.... ... the food database is as robust as MFP. Otherwise a very decent app! Suggestion TIOLI: Many like me are on supervised weight loss where we need to remember to take and log vitamins and minerals. So even checkboxes like the water drops would be hugely helpful; either allowing us to customize the label or simply two boxes for “A.M.” and “P.M.” something like that. In MFP I actually created a “food” type for these but it wasn’t as convenient or visual as the water checkboxes. And of course your scanner didn’t allow me to add it easily because it didn’t recognize it. Another suggestion. Consider having an option to see a history of check-ins or even see the labels of the check-ins on the weight loss graph.

I like the stats. I’m so glad to have found this app as it tracks the nutrients I want. The only thing is I have to add all of my food as it doesn’t recognize any of my barcodes. The database is limited I guess which is fine because I don’t mind entering it in and helping others be able to find the product in the future. I eat a lot of Trader Joe’s products and Trader Joe’s is known for seasonal and changing foods. But so far I love this app and plan to stay.

It helps. It helps to keep track of it all, happy to see food database update. Me and my wife used this app to keep track of everything during a past challenge. Using target goals and watching daily calorie intake helped me lose 26 lbs in 10 weeks and my wife lost 24. You can use whatever app you want, you just really have to stick to the plan, and this app helps.

Great app!. This is the third app I’ve tried that counts calories and I was really not impressed with the other two. This one seems to do everything I want. I’m very happy with it. The best part is that it’s free. Thank you for making one that’s so easy and cost friendly! Highly recommended!

The app is really good!. It allows you to track your meals and snacks. Things you eat everyday can be grouped by creating a recipe or you can also create foods altogether. The only problem is that when you open it, it lags and I need to close it and reopen it several times before it works alright.

Love this app! Easy to use and user friendly.. This is a simple interface which is what I’ve been looking for. Pretty large inventory of all foods. I love the easy to read homepage that tells me where I am calorie wise throughout the day.

Nutrition info. The layout of this app is wayyy better than mfp and I love that there is a gram option for every item since I weight all my food. That’s the reason why I switched from mfp to this app. The food database is very minimal but either way mfp’s is so unorganised and most often incorrect.

Love it more than others. I love the fact that you can record the times of meals and add notes for example I am diabetic and keep track of my blood sugar readings in this app too the only thing I wish is you could more easily set goals for certain nutrition like you do with calories. But other than that I love this app simpler than others is better in my opinion

Not great if you make your own food. If you just eat fast food or pre-prepared food it doesn’t have a very wide range of items. Like a cup of plain chai tea (tea bag) with (less) honey and (less) half and half is missing... it sends you to McDonalds / Starbucks / Dunkin for their pre-prepared and often higher sugar equivalents. Very irritating. It should have home prepared options for all types of food for those of us that don’t give our money to fast food establishments.

Fat percentages. Pretty darned good app. I’ve used it recently to lose a lot of wait, safely, over time. I do wish it had a field for entering fat %. Most of the home-type fat scales are somewhat inaccurate, but they are generally relative. Keeping track of fat % is more important than either BMI or weight.

Would give it five but some glitches. I’ve been using the app for 3 months now and I’m absolutely loving this app, but there are a few glitches that are very annoying. Whenever I try to add a meal for the day to the app, it only adds whatever I put on last. I’ve been dealing with this for two weeks and I don’t know what to do

Really like the app. I will probably use it for an extended period. I like that it counts the calories and I can still count carbs either total or net. I also like that it counts glasses of water as well. The only drawback I have found so far is that many of the foods that I eat are not in the database. Of course once I get them in there it’ll make it much easier to use.

Amazing app. First, I like the fact that this is not a subscription. I don’t really know how they earn money from this, but thank you to the developers. You are doing everyone a favor and helping us reach our goals. Second, this app is pretty straightforward and easy to use. I will update my review if there are issues to be addressed.

Looks Good. I’ve only been using it for a couple of days BUT, I think I’ve finally found the app for me. While providing all the auto calories the other apps do, this one allows me to SIMPLY create foods or meals and assign calorie or carb values that work for me. As an example I have exactly the same breakfast most days so I created “Breakfast 1” with its total calorie count. Now I can just tap that each day without having to go through food lookup, quantities, etc.

Don’t waste your time!!!!. Never could get app to work on iPhone. Would not pull up any food, it wanted you input the information about the food yourself. It wanted me to set up an account “so it could sync with other devices and programs” which it will not do. Tried trouble shooting, no info. Tried to find contact information again nothing available. Was very disappointed. Wasted several hours trying to get it to work. Don’t waste your time with this terrible app.

Love it but... It could be so helpful if you would make it where we could add in how many calories we want to eat from a item and get the measurements for that amount of calories. I like to be able to say ok I have this amount of calories and I will spend it on this this and this. And just divide up my calories for it.

Weight loss Specialist. I do not claim to be a licensed nutritionist or dietitian, but I successfully help people lose weight, and have done so for 10+ years. This app is by far the best food database in the world, and the food journal is easy to use, Very efficient, and completely free of anecdotal bro-science.

Tried them all, this is the best. Tracking is intuitive and gives me all the information I want, especially macros. However.... the food database is lacking compared to other apps. I’ve needed to input most of my common foods, which is ok overall. I wish exercises wouldn’t credit my caloric intake. There needs to be an option to include exercising but not deduct from daily calories.

This app makes it easy to watch my calories and carbs. I was shopping for a calorie counting app when I saw The Calorie King app. I was familiar with Calorie King since I had use g HD Wie book to count my carbs since turning a diabetic. This app is great. I just wished they would spend more effort with barcode updates though. My only down point for this app.

Easy to use, not a lot of food in database.. I love how easy the app is to use and navigate. HOWEVER the database is lacking. I have to manually key in almost all of my food. Not sure what the point is in using the barcode scanner if 75% of the foods aren’t in there. I will continue to use the app and give it a week or so; today is my 1st day using it so maybe it was an off day for me/my foods.
