Can’t tip on app, and never received food. Placed an order for delivery on your app, it never arrived. Hours pass. Is it because there was no place to tip the driver., so they just gave up? There’s nowhere on the app to deal with this, so reached out to Doordash, your partner. While Iwas waiting for them to sort, they advised I would be safe to place the order again. Placed a second order, restaurant calls me and says the first driver declined to deliver our food. Confused, i asked why I couldn’t tip on the app, and they didn’t know, I asked to just cancel the new order, and they said “ok no problem, we won’t fire it.”. Still got charged. Food never arrived from either order, and the second one was charged to me too. Charged twice, got zero food. Out over $60, just looking for the refund please. Please reach out. I’ve sent emails using your app, but no one has gotten back to me.

Get it Right !!!. Finished eating at my local SnS and pulled phone out to use app to pay and discovered the App had updated. I went thru the ridiculous set up (seeing I already had app before) and was po’ed that it forced you to opt in for notifications. There was no other way to get off screen to continue. Figured I would change in settings later. Beware that it makes you tie a gift card to your account. I set one up for $1 to see if it worked and it fails to scan at register. Employee even manually entered gift card number and it failed. BRING BACK THE PAY BY CREDIT CARD FEATURE AND TIP INPUT!!! This app update was a failure. Fix it and get it right. Apparently this was not in sight because it was not right.

Not crazy about new app. I understand why for security they don’t want people’s credit card info loaded (as in the old app), but this one is a pain. You have to go to two screens to check out (one to get your purchase points credited to you and then another screen to access your gift card to pay). Or go straight to payment, and have to scan the barcode on your receipt for your points. Oh but it won’t scan! Then type it in. Just seems awkward. And my gift card balance is NEVER accurate on the app (my last two purchases haven’t been debited yet) so I have no idea how much I really have).

Management Problems. On one of my visits on December I was given a spoiled salad, the smell was so bad that the people sitting on the next table told me not to eat that, told the waitress and she care less; paid the whole bill including the bad salad and left. After a while returned last night and there were no utensils available; ate the fries with the finger, no soup cups; gave us the soup in a paper cup, no placemats; gave us after asking breakfast placemats; the bathrooms were dirty and smelly and the floor were so greasy that you need to hold to the tables on some areas to walk. We went at 10:30 PM after the movie. Food was good.

Gift card payment won’t submit.. I Have tried to order multiple times on the app and went to check out with a gift card and when I go to submit the order it says sorry something went wrong. I also tried to order milkshakes for delivery with my gift card online and when I clicked to submit the order it says “ Something Is Wrong We're sorry. The gift card number you entered is either invalid or restricted to dine-in purchases only.” My gift cards are not invalid as the guy at the window the other day swiped them and had no issues swiping it to pay. I have never heard of a gift card that’s not able to be used for a mobile order before. Not sure why I can’t seem to place any mobile or online orders and pay with either of my gift cards but it’s very stressful when I am at the restaurant and unable to place the order to do curbside and have to wait in the drive through. The old app used to work way better.

Terrible app. The latest update is awful. It signed me out, lost all of my favorite orders, my favorite store, and my payment info. After reentering everything, it gave me an error message that said my order couldn’t be placed. It turns out that I was charged for the order anyways. When I called the store, they told me there was nothing they could do and I had to go online to file a complaint if I wanted my money back. A few days later, I tried to give the app another shot and ordered again, only for it to happen AGAIN. I have since gotten a refund for both purchases, but it took 10 days for my money to be returned. It’s safe to say that I won’t be ordering here until a new update is released

Unorganized!!!!. I placed my order almost an hour ahead of time. I pulled thru the drive through window as the app stated. The cashier couldn’t hear me when I told her I have a mobile/internet order. Once she gathered what I said she asked me to pull around. So I pull to the window “mind you she didn’t ask my name or a phone number or anything in regards to my order that I requested to be ready at 5pm. I am on my lunch hour. So now I have been asked to pull up and my order will be out shortly. Well here it is 5:20 and a nice young man finally brings m order. Still no questions in regards to if this order belongs to me. I’m not impressed and I’m sure I won’t be back. Now I remember why I don’t go to Steak n Shake.. Level Up!

Pretty much about done with Steak n Shake. Use to love this company, stopped many times especially when traveling out of town going through Weaverville and Myrtle Beach, but the Weaverville store and the new store they built near our home at Pinnacle in Bristol has shown this company gone down hill in big way, and when I’ve called to voice concern there was none shown nothing done or any compensation offered for the mistakes. This App we weren’t shown or helped to use, I know I had a credit of over $2 on it that disappeared with no explanation as to why, then twice I’ve been to store and paid for product and gotten no credit through the app when I asked the second time before I paid the girl said oh well you needed to tell me before etc etc ...bs she could have easily redone order....

Can’t upload gift cards. The app is no longer allowing gift cards to be uploaded, so if you want to order ahead or use the app even in store, one cannot use gift cards. I’ve never had a restaurant with online ordering that does not allow gift cards. Steak and shake restaurants have the worst customer service in the industry. The redeeming quality is the food is decent, and the app and rewards and gift cards always worked seemlessly together. I still don’t eat there as often as we used to because I don’t have the patience to sit in a 30 minute line (the average wait time at our local Steak N Shake with just one car ahead in the drive through), but if this gift card issue isn’t resolved, I won’t eat there at all.

Stay away from outdated app to save you a headache. I recently submitted an order to my local Steak ‘n Shake. I had a scheduled pickup and when I got there I was informed that they are closed due to a broken AC. I’m not mad at the location. What I’m mad at is the fact that the app doesn’t allow you to cancel or refund your orders. I was told by the lady there that I needed to contact corporate. Are you serious?! Every other fast food app I’ve used allows you to cancel your order before it’s picked up. I received a number to their corporate office only to get a we are closed message. So now I have to fill out a guest form and hope somebody replies back. In the meantime I’m out $20 and no food. Screw this archaic app.

Loses orders and points. This app has potential. But way too many flaws. I tried to place an order online. The locations are listed randomly, and you can’t search and the location list jumps frequently and randomly when you try to scroll. I placed an entire large order, but an error message kept saying it couldn’t charge my card. Then, for some reason the app refreshed itself, I lost the order from multiple people before I could write it down. When I went to look at my money balance and figure out the card issue, my account was less the $5 in reward money I had already earned. Apparently it was applied to the order that cancelled and not put back into my account. The basic functionality of the account is fine, the ordering ahead is total crap.

Works but would be better if people can get the order right. Well. The app works like it should. However the location in Edwardsville Illinois is much to be desired. I placed a simple order for two shooter meals. First the app said pick up time was for 11:05 am. When I arrived at 11:10 I was told it would be another 10 to 15 min. At that time they started cooking our order. When I got home with my order. The entire order was wrong. Cheese on burgers that were ordered with. I cheese. Missing fries, no sauce on the shooters. These people want $15 an hour pay but they can't get a simple order correct that was even printed out in detail for them. Shame on them. Maybe they should be cleaning bathrooms instead of preparing meals. But they may be to difficult for them also.

Remarkable support for an ok app. My first time using this app was a frustrating experience. Make sure you CHECK to see if a particular location is listed, because oddly not every SnS is equipped to take online orders. Long story short, I ended up wasting a buncha my time going far outta my way for a meal I ordered because of this. Naturally, I posted a negative review to vent my irritation. When the app asked if I “loved” it and I answered no, it asked me to fill out a basic form to explain my grievance. The customer service for this app really impressed me. A real person (Jeremy) responded to my message and sent me technical advice to address the issue. When I didn’t follow up, he did and asked if i was still having problems. I still don’t know if I “love” the app, but I’m much more willing to give it more of a chance now.

VERY Poor App Design. That’s probably not what I mean, as the menu is laid out crisp & clean. However, there’s a problem with the payment. Checking put as a guest was ok last week, but for some ungodly reason I decided to give away personal information to be stored, and possibly “hacked” later. But, you can’t get points as a guest, and since I’m poor, I need all the help I can get. Anyway, the “save” button is completely cut off when adding a payment card. Therefore no way to pay. People ordering fast food need it fast, hence the name. I’ve wasted 45 minutes on 3 devices trying to make payment work. You’re losing customers because of app dev dude. It’s too easy to order chick fil a or Wendy’s and be done with it. Very few customers will sit around and fight with the app.

Love the restaurant, hate the app.. Steak n Shakes have drive-thrus, yet this app does not give you the option of choosing the drive-thru as the means to pick it up. They don’t have enough staff to run curbside and I don’t wanna have to go inside to pick it up when I can easily drive thru. Why haven’t you fixed this? This makes no sense whatsoever. Restaurants that are far inferior to you, as far as quality of food, have way better apps. Also, you can’t cancel an order. I don’t know of any other app that does not give you the option to cancel the order. Here I am sitting in the parking lot because the staff doesn’t know that I placed the order, even though it has took my money. I would rather just cancel the order and go somewhere else at this point, but because you already took my money, and you’re not cheap, I’m sitting here waiting. This app is really horrible.

This app has issues. I have used the app once. My first issue was that despite having loaded my gift cards to my account, I could not choose them for payment on my app order. The only option was to pay by credit card. Since happy hour was about to end within 10 minutes and the drive through line was several cars long, I gave up on the gift cards and entered my credit card and hit pay $26. The next screen thanked me for my order and showed an order total of $38, an increase of $12 over the price shown on the payment screen. I placed the order and paid at 4:52, still well within the happy hour timeframe, but it took away all 6 of my happy hour shakes and increased the cost to full price after I hit pay. It was quite an ordeal to get it straightened out at the window.

KAW. Update: Steak ‘n Shake fixed my issue and added my balance to the new app. I do like getting the rewards for eating there. I would prefer if I did not have to add to my balance but to just pay directly from my checking account while still getting reward points. Loved the old app. Never had any trouble with it. When the switched to the new app, my balance on the old app never transferred over. I sent an email but so far no response. I feel ripped off. I love Steak n Shake but.......

I can not get this app to work. I tried and tried, but I could not get this app to work on my phone. I was trying to redeem my “free” birthday milkshake. It said “your selected order is not valid for this order”. Then I see in the FINE PRINT it says my birthday reward is only valid after 4:00 PM !! What a stupid birthday reward restriction. Anyway, I tried this app again to order my “free” birthday milkshake, after 4:00 PM, and I still get the same stupid message saying “your selected order is not valid for this order”. What a waste of time. Next, I tried to order the milkshake without the reward, just paying for it. Now the app freezes and just has three dots going back-and-forth continuously. I tried one more time - I deleted the app, I reloaded it, I logged back in, but I still can’t get an order to go through. I wonder what’s going on with Steak ‘n Shake?

App Great, Food Great, Staff not so much. The food is great and the app is simple to use. Unfortunately, I often have to have my order redone because it is not prepared as ordered, and I also find that the stores in Mishawaka and South Bend Indiana often close early with no notice. But if you’re lucky, they may be accepting online orders or DoorDash. Otherwise you’re out of luck! I frequently find they close sometimes 45 minutes to an hour early than what is posted on their door and on the website! Bummer…

Tired of seeing temporarily disabled for adding gift cards. I used to use this app all the time but now I don’t get rewards on it anymore so I don’t use it. It says it has temporarily disabled the ability to add gift cards on it anymore and that was the way I received all my point for rewards. I know you can still get rewards if you add a credit card but I refuse to add my credit card to an app. I haven’t deleted the app just because I’m hoping that it’ll let me add gift cards back to it someday. When that day comes I will gladly give the app 5 stars again but until that day gets here I have to give it 1 star cause all the app is doing right now is taking up space.

Garbage. This app is worthless, you give me a bday free burger but I cant order it from your app. I know you guys make it a point to make sure we cant redeem free stuff because god forbid you were to give out a free burger every year. Garbage of an app, I cant redeem because I need $7 minimum for delivery but wait I keep pressing curbside and it still saying the same thing. Im like well let me redeem at the store and click on the offer wait another message saying I cant redeem because its been clicked too many times so I have to wait 3hrs? What is this I never got the free freaking burger, dont send anything if you are not willing for people to redeem stuff. Thus the reason I have stopped going to your stores.

Great App... minus the Happy Hour shakes & menu. This is a great app; I love the payment system; I love the Rewards Points counter & screen are great... and much more. However, the app is lacking, and DESPERATELY needs a separate page that features photos of EVERY shake they offer (I’m confused why they haven’t already dedicated a feature page to their shakes... AND ALSO, it is impossible to purchase “Happy Hour” shakes because they only charge you full price. Like I said, it’s a great app... minus those two things that I’m confused why they haven’t fixed or programmed in... especially making a feature page for all their shakes.

Doesn’t work for anything. I opened up the application made an account tried to set up for a store near me which is here in Louisiana and I’m literally right in front of the store and it will not input the address or recognize that there is one in Louisiana in its entirety I even tried searching up a steak ‘n Shake in Texas and it still doesn’t work, it’s says No Location Results I deleted the app I reinstalled it & I made a new account and it won’t let me purchase anything I even tried entering my receipt from the other day which isn’t a week old. what’s the point of this app I can’t purchase or enter rewards? Complete trash…. and I love steak and shake I always get a mint shake and a garlic burger but what’s the point of an app the will not help with anything?

Payment system will take your money. Arrived to a location in Ohio to find they were only accepting orders via phone and app. Would not answer the phone so we tried this. When submitting the final order, we were greeted with an error and order didn’t go through. Tried another card- another error message and order still did not go through. No confirmation that they had received our order, so we left. Next day, charge was posted on BOTH credit cards. Awful app. Cannot be trusted if this is happening at all and should be pulled from the App Store until they figure out what they’re doing. Fraud

May be ok for earning rewards, don’t use to order. I downloaded this app so that I could place my order ahead of time and then drive to the restaurant to pick it up. This way I hope to cut out the 10 or so minutes of waiting time. Complete failure. The app indicated over and over again that my order did not go through, however, when I open up my credit card statement, I see that it went through four times. I spoke with the manager at the restaurant, and they assured me that they had no orders in this wouldn’t be a problem. I’m not mad at my local restaurant because I expect that they did everything within their control. I won’t be using this app to place orders again.

Online ordering pointless. One experience the store I ordered from was out of 2 of the things I ordered. They didn’t know how to refund this. No apology. Now in COVID age only their (different store, would never go to the other one) drive thru is the only thing open. They wont bring out to you in parking lot. So u still wait a very long time behind people ordering. Also your food is cold (or melted if you’re getting shakes) since it was ready before those ahead of you. App pointless at least right now

Great app and food!. They have amazing food, my entire family loves eating from there!! The rewards program through their app is amazing too! We went in and ate a while back and today I decided to order for pickup and I had $6 off reward from when we went inside awhile back. The savings is good and the food is even better. The prices are already decent for the quality of food and shakes you get. I have no complaints. Even the workers at our store are polite and make sure you have everything you need!

Another Poor App. This is another example of poor decision-making and/or using an maybe a cheap app draining company. First they used to make you put money on a virtual card to place orders on the app. Now it takes credit cards, but you can’t use the money on the virtual card to pay for app orders. Yet pleanty of apps can do both. Why can’t this app? Second to use the virtual money you have to hand them the phone and they have to manually enter the number. They have no scanners? Finally, I get the attempt to streamline, but ultimately visually it’s not that intuitive. I think it’s just more different that other apps, so you have to figure it out. If you use it a lot then it’s probably fine.

Many missing options.. As I was sitting in the restaurant waiting to get served after waiting 15 minutes to get seated I decided to see if maybe I could order online quicker than getting a waitress. I had the order all ready to go when she finally arrived to take our order. The reason I hadn’t submitted it was I could not find any way to upgrade my fries with my order to a large order. I decided to just add a side of French fries however I couldn’t find that option anywhere on the menu. Same thing with onion rings. The other thing is that there is no flow to the ordering. You can’t tell what the main menu page is so if you click the double arrow one too many times it takes you back the select location page. Make a drop down menu that has all of the categories and easy to know how to go back and forth. And fix your restaurants and get them to start managing the floor and customers better.

Great return visit. I took my kids for a quick lunch a couple of weeks ago and loved the 2-4:00 happy hour. Food and beverage was great. I mean GREAT!! The service and hospitality was what won us over. We returned today with Mama for a Sunday funday. We encountered the great service person from our first visit and he was the same brand ambassador from the first visit. Came to our table and remembered our son and daughter. Marcus is the best asset you have at this location. We will be back!!!

App is ancient. This app has the potential to be as good as McDonalds or Papa Johns apps. I still have to stand in a long line at the register waiting for a manager or someone to come ring everyone up. This defeats the purpose of having an app to make the transaction go quicker. I could just as easily used my debit card since I have to stand in the same long line. Also, S & S should have special food deals on the app. It’s silly to not have food specials on this app. which would help people to decide whether to go to S&S or another food place if they already had a food special.

Never again. I downloaded the SnS app and put $50 on my account. After using the app only twice I still have over $34 in my account. The last time I went to SnS they would not accept my card. I had to pay cash for my meal. They claim there were charge backs on my account. Upon contacting them they said said they would check into it. The next response I received from them stated it went into arbitration of my dispute and I lost. Again first of all I know nothing about any arbitration so what are they talking about? To have any sort of arbitration shouldn’t I have been notified and had some sort of representation? No wonder the majority of SnS have closed up across the country. As much as I love SNS I will never set foot in another SnS to eat another meal.

Impossibly Broken App!. The old app just worked. Gift cards, saved payments, earning points, everything with a single beep of the reader. It was beautiful. This was my first experience with the new app. You can’t use gift cards. We ordered at the kiosk and couldn’t scan the app. So I ordered in the app and couldn’t pay with gift cards because it said they were for dine-in only (we were trying to dine in). It took FORTY MINUTES for the manager to key the order manually and type both gift cards in by hand… and then I didn’t get points. I have a balance on the gift card and will NOT be back to use it. The people are great, and saints for putting up with such a broken system, but it is not a functional dining experience because the app and ordering system are so hopelessly beyond dysfunctional. Get rid of the app and go back to handwritten orders if you can’t make it work!

Newest version will not open. I used the ‘old’ version for years and literally put thousands of dollars thru the app using the auto-funding option. That option is no longer available. I did get the new app to load once and, after several attempt and assistance from support, got funds added to the app in a gift card and used it once. After that the new version will no longer load for use. And, on top to f that, I have funds locked up in the app I can no longer access!!! I have downloaded and reinstalled the app multiple time and it will not open. Completely disappointed in the new app and actually no longer go to Steak n’ Shake due to my frustration!

Disappointed. My family loves steak and Shake. We go to the one in our town Muncie Indiana. Every time I go there esp in the drive thru 20 min waits, I ordered a bowl of chili they brought me half a bowl with basically only broth told me that is all they had no offer of another side or my money or nothing. I got my kid a 4for$4 combo one time, no cookie they are out can’t do anything for me after a 25 minute wait. Another time, $40 order got someone else’s $12 order had to come back all the way across town and they give me the original order that had been sitting there since I left with the wrong order ice cold no offer to fix. But this time is the final straw I order some food on app it takes my order and my money I get to restaurant they tell me they are closed busted water mane they can’t give my food, nor my money and told me to call corporate. When I asked for the number they can’t get it for me and told me it is on the app. I have been searching for this number on the app for 20 minutes. It is not on the app!!!

Easy to use. The app layout itself is great. Very user friendly. The only 2 complaints I have are the re-load amount which is a minimum of $25 should be lowered to$10. When I spoke to customer service they said that is the typical price for 2 people. I usually order for one person and might have $4.00 left on my account and want to add only $10, but it doesn’t let me. The other complaint is the same as another person mentioned, please scan my phone while I am holding it. I have actually had my phone dropped from another fast food chain and they cracked my screen. They paid for it but it was the hassle of getting it repaired. Otherwise a great app overall.

Cannot link to credit card :(. Go the new Steak ‘n Shake app. The interface is a cool upgrade, but on the downside, you are unable to link a credit card to the app. Rather, you have to “load up” funds ahead of time by purchasing a gift card or electronic gift card. More of a hassle to predict how much you are going to spend on a meal than simply paying with a credit card at the time of purchase. Please bring this “link to credit card” feature back to this new version of the app! I used the old app religiously for over 2 years and it worked great and was *super* easy. While I like the new look of things, the reduced functionality has led me to not even use it. Wish they wouldn’t have changed something that wasn’t broke.

App is great... WHEN it works!!!!. I decided to download the app and bought a gift card. It seemed to work well. But when I still had about $15 dollars available, I bought another gift card. Once I uploaded the gift card, the app has decided to crash every time I have tried to open it. I asked multiple employees for help, even a manager (at least I could assume) and not one of them had an idea how to help me. When I asked how to access my money, I was only told that if I cannot figure out how to fix the app (as if I were the one that made it stop working), then I am out the money. So I guess Steak N Shake just took a large sum of my money and may or may not be able to use it.

Suggestions for a search engine for location. Suggestion for searching for locations use a search engine with key words. Recent location finder of restaurants is nerve reckoning. Another suggestion is not to put restaurants by address number. No one is not going to know by the address number. Not organized this way. Try putting alpha order by state then city. This will help with frustration for your customers when wanting to order ahead of time. From an organized, let’s make things easier for your customers person.

Just Ain’t What She Use to Be!!. I am so greatly disappointed in the new app! First of all, I cannot even place an in app order because the ordering feature cannot find any Steak’ N Shake store’s in Kansas City! Really? I can make my nearest store in Liberty my “favorite” store, but it cannot locate one in the “order” function. Also, I like that it use to be able to use my credit/debit card directly for every purchase. All I ever had to do was just scan and go. Awesome! But not now. Nope, now I have to load a virtual gift card! I do NOT like that! I so very much miss being able to go in my app (while I’m at home in bed), order my husband’s (who does work the night shift) favorite meal and just be able to tell him to stop in the drive thru and say there’s an order, and it’s paid for and waiting on him!! I’ve deleted this twice and re-installed it, but still no luck!

Poor app. I had an account with the old app. I can’t migrate any points. When I go in and put in my email, name, and create a password it kicks me out when I hit submit. I decided to not migrate. I couldn’t remember my password so I hit reset password. It kicked me out and no email to reset. So I decided to just set up a new account. Went through and filled in everything, hit submit, it kicked me out of the app. I wanted to order and pay from home so all I would have to do is pick it up. FYI... if you have gone to having to buy a gift card to pay online like Sonic does, forget about me using the app. It needs to be able to be like McDonald’s and Wendy’s app or allow Apple Pay like Little Caesars. If I could give it less than one star, I would. Get with the 21st century.

This app is complete garbage. I tried to place an order for pickup and redeem reward. I get “$7 minimum for delivery” EVEN THO IT’S NOT DELIVERY. I tried for 5 minutes, no luck. Fine, terrible app, but I’ll go through the drive through to redeem my reward instead. I get there, click “redeem” on the reward and it TELLS ME I CANT USE A REWARD FOR 3 HOURS EVEN THOUGH I NEVER USED MY REWARD. I was so mad I just drove off. Absolute garbage app where literally nothing works, they somehow managed to get WORSE with update. Wasted over an hour of my time and gas. Never coming back, deleting the app. Absolutely infuriating at how lazy the developers were, and I would know, I’m in the business and also use all the other food apps. One of the absolute worst, can’t believe they paid the developers to deliver this trash.

Awful app update.. This app we pretty good when they first started the reward program. You could setup Apple Pay for payment and they would scan a barcode to take your payment and your rewards were automatically processed. Then they updated it to not work with Apple Pay. Now you have this disaster. If you want to pay for your meal you have to load a gift card for them to scan. When taking your payment it does not process your rewards. You have to have another barcode scanned or enter your receipt manually. Everything that was one translation, including adding a tip, is not several separate translations. After redeeming my last rewards I will probably not use the app anymore.

Huge Disappointment!!!. I requested Mushroom and Swiss only on my Hamburger and it came with mayonnaise which I do not eat and did not realize until I took the first bite. Took forever to get my Server to bring this to her attention so by now I had no appetite or any desire to have them remake the burger. She offered to speak with the manager and to no avail that seemed unsuccessful so I went to the counter with my plate with uneaten burger and Monica, the Manager wanted to argue with me at first but I told her that many times I ordered it like that in the drive thru and never had it been wrong!! Some other girl who told me she was not a manager kept getting involved in the conversation and at the end had some snarky comments to make after Monica agreed to remove the burger off my bill. I ask Who Is She? Monica said She’s a Manager and I replied... She told me she Was Not!! They were both rude, unprofessional and upset the Server. I paid for my onion rings and milk shake and tipped my Server but once my money is off my App I will never be back to this location again!!

New app is a major step backwards. The added online ordering lacks toppings that can be ordered at the restaurant, making it a less than useful addition. What used to take a single scan now takes multiple scans at the register. My attempts to use the new app have more often than not, ended in failure. Whether this is due to changes in procedure that the store employees don’t know or is an issue with the app itself doesn’t matter. The food is great, but this app is a terrible experience. Another attempt to use this app. Deducted from my gift card nicely. Too bad it didn’t go through at the store. Points expire now too but not stated anywhere I’ve found. Avoid using this application for gift cards. Chances are good that it won’t work.

Was good until things started disappearing from the menu. When I first got the app I loved it and I used it a lot. I ordered ahead of time all the time. But then the footlong disappeared from the menu. I know that they still have the footlong though, they wouldn’t just get rid of that. That’s only the start. What appeared in its place is the classic steak frank. You know the small wimpy one. And I was trying to find a similarity between the two and what do you know it looks like the exact same picture (orders the same way too) but the price for one of them is higher than the other. Fix the picture cause I don’t wanna risk paying more for a small hotdog for the chance it’s the footlong...

incomplete. why.... seriously why would you make an option to order food online if you can’t order the full menu? the settings of this app do not allow you to properly upgrade your sides. I worked at steak ‘n shake for a very long time so I know how the ordering system that employees use work. this is noooottthing like it. I tried to switch my “small fries” to “large cheese fries” but there is only an option to make them “small cheese fries”. same goes for every other side on the menu. just absolutely stupid that you wouldn’t make the same options available to order food online as you would get ordering in person. pretty sure this is designed to make naive people pay more money if they order for themselves on the app. if I wanted to actually get my large cheese fries with my sandwich, I would have to order them separately instead of as a meal, which would cost me a lot more.

Poor choices make for a poor app.. The choices made by Steak n Shake for their app are odd. You can load a prepaid digital card, but not for less than $25. You can’t use your balance to pay for orders on the app, and have to use your credit card if you want to order ahead. The only way to use the digital balance is by having a cashier scan it in-person, making me question why this is even included in the app at all. The menu availability on the app is gimped. You canes order individual sandwiches. If you want a steakburger or chicken sandwich, or even chicken fingers, you can only order them as part of a meal with a side and drink. I would love to understand the logic behind these bizarre choices, as other fast food apps from their competitors (McDonalds, Sonic, Burger King, Wendys, ect) all let you order individual items snd don’t include a predatory, misleading “digital card” system that you cannot even use to pay with.

Forces you to add a “side”. Are you serious with this app? Bad enough that you have one of the truly dumbest features I have ever seen in a restaurant app (i.e., forcing us to purchase a GIFT CARD instead of letting people load a credit card and purchase straightaway), but you’ve also made it impossible for people to skip adding a side?? Lol, it would be funny if it wasn’t such an amateurish attempt to bilk another few cents out of your paying customers during this ridiculously tough time. Hey, I still really like Steak n Shake’s food. And I will continue to go there sometimes, but not nearly as often as I would if you simply had a functional, respectful app. There are just way too many other burger choices out there for us to put up with blatant disregard for customer wishes.

Why use gift card. When SteakNShake first came out with an app, you could link it to any credit card. That was convenient and hassle-free. Once you linked your credit card account with their app it was no further maintenance required. Then they changed the app and you were now required to buy a gift card and link it to the app and continuously reload the card. Very inconvenient. In effect you are required to pre-pay for your next meal. The money is in their bank account drawing interest.I suppose someone got a bonus for coming up with this money making scam.

Manageable. Order layout is confusing, but manageable. Certain items are unavailable for ordering, like cheese on my chili in the 4 for 4 menu (not even for an upcharge), no coupon option in app (even though I have a valid coupon from the mail). It’s a good start, but needs work

Disappointed. The app works as well as the workers at Steak ‘n Shake.... Not good. Every time I go into a Steak ‘n Shake (talking multiple locations) employees have a bad attitude, slow and it’s just pathetic. The app experience is no different. Went to place an order, app froze said “Network error” so I went back a step to try again, this time a success. Not quite, they charged me twice! Then on the app and email I received it said call for billing issues. So I called, and called and called for a solid 20 minutes and no answer. So like I said earlier the app is no better than the employees. PATHETIC and INCOMPETENT

Gift card function. I absolutely love this restaurant and app BUT my only complaint is that you can’t upload a gift card on the app. So the message said you can continue to use gift cards in the restaurant but there is no option to get your points if you use the GC in store. I even took my CC off to see if you can just scan and get points without using a CC but it won’t let you accumulate point with using a CC. Can you please explain this to me? Thanks

Decent app but disappointed. The app would be better if it was easier to find the store location. Instead of going by the street number, maybe go by city and state. Or have a search bar. Otherwise you have to look up the address online, get the street number, and then you can search for the store. My other issue is that the menu does not include all the menu items. So I couldn’t order my food with the app. Please fix these issues then the app will be worth a 5-star rating!

What a joke. I liked a gift card with the app and that seems to work, although to update the balance you have to hit the refresh button. Simply closing the app and opening again does not update. What I find really frustrating is that after my purchases the app does not increment my reward points. There is no refresh button for this. Several emails about this go either unanswered or they reply with reading the FAQ section or they explain something completely off topic. When my gift card is gone I will delete the app as it is worthless. For being a joke of an app and program, I give one star (it truest deserves zero stars).

Steak n Shake. I don’t understand this new app at all! Installed it on my iPad first and when I brought it down from the cloud for my phone it didn’t transfer the info, yet wants my password which I can’t remember and there is no place to retrieve or change it. Also, can u pay thru the app now with your own personal account or is it just reloading into your card? Don’t like this app AT ALL! Some thing are better left alone. The original app worked just fine! Also the time to scan receipts expires in less than a month. Just had to throw 2 receipts away. As I said this app is terrible, even some of your restaurant employees agree. 😞

Poor design to track sales. We have a Steak ‘n Shake near our school and I like to take the boys there for a reward every once in a while. I downloaded app and created account: easy. I did not put in my credit card payment info. It said I could do that later. When I tried to pay for my meal with cash and earn points, I was told they only way Steak n Shake could track my sales hence rewards was if I put in my credit card info and pay through the app. NOPE! I don’t need to do that for Red Robin, Olive Garden or numerous other restaurant apps to earn points/rewards. Terrible!

Made simple.. I often refrain from using technology as a means of payment. I keep funds secure, spend most of my time working, and on breaks look how to better invent myself. Once in a blue moon, I’ll have the option of ordering lunch, and using the app instead of a lengthy process is always a game changer for a company with affordable great tasting burgers. Well done Stake ‘n Shake... well done. 💯

App needs improvement. When I add an order to the cart it just “clocks” and does not go to the payment screen. Earlier this month I attempted to complete an order on the mobile app but each time a box popped up that said “Oops, it didn’t work, please use a different form of payment “. Needless to say I had 5 charges on my bank account that 4 needs reversed. It’s a great ap when it works.

CANNOT CANCEL ORDERS AND NO REFUND. Accidentally ordered from the wrong location. Call the store and they said that we had to cancel on the app but the app says that we have to call the store and have them cancel it. The person on the phone at the store claimed that they had no idea how to and that they can’t cancel orders at all. My husband and I just wanted a quick and easy dinner after a hard week with our newborn, but that turned into over an hour online and on the phone trying to get our $18 back, which never happened.

Crashing constantly now. It was working but 2 days ago it stopped finding the S n S nearest to me( had always worked before). And now today it began crashing within 5 seconds of launching app. I’ve deleted it and downloaded again twice. Keeps crashing.

Points do not apply. This latest iteration seems much smoother and appealing than previous versions. Unfortunately, after three transactions scanning this app I still have received no rewards, I have a $1 reward marked as spent even though it was not applied to my order, and I have received no response to my in-app feedback seeking help. There also seems to be no mechanism in the app for scanning a receipt if scanning could not be done at the counter. I would like to give this a higher rating, but the broken rewards are a dealbreaker.

App seems fine; stores are the issue. App seems fine on its own, the retailer taking your money goes real smooth;). The problem comes at the retail counter and Particularly at drive throughs. There are network issues that cause lag opening the app and actually reading it at the checkout, a huge pain when using the app to *actually* pay - but it's gotten better. There's still a real problem with Employee training to use the reader and register and a lack of employee experience with the app. Feels like the retailer is abandoning this as a fad, rather than embracing it as a tool

Menu Hidden. Hiding features of your app like the menu until someone registers and logs in is pretty much transparently desperate just to bolster account numbers. Probably lost more customers that way too. Some want to see your menu before they leave home. They can’t view it, because you’re fools and hide it. So then they look up a restaurant that doesn’t have its head in the sand and then they go there. Ta Da!! You lose business. And for what? To brag about your forced account creations?? Very business savvy.

Order. I placed my order ahead through the app so that everything would be ready when I got to the store and I wouldn’t have to wait. When I got to the store they did not have everything ready and did not give me my milkshake and questioned why I was still sitting in the drive-through waiting. So having the convenience of ordering ahead through the app so that I would not have to wait 10 minutes in the drive-through did not work, I still had to wait and my order was not done correctly.

No one replies to support (updated). Since original January 29th support request, I get auto replies saying they will follow up as soon as they can but no follow up yet. Have sent my own follow up requests 3 more times and only get the same auto reply. My old account, money and rewards balances are lost. Now receipts are too old to redeem in-app so I have lost new rewards also. Good food, terrible app. UPDATE: today, March 10th I did get a reply and my account was merged and my balance is carried forward (money and rewards). Would have been nice to get a status update earlier. Please wait etc …

Stupid way to pay. This app requires you to “load” money from your debit card and keep a balance, if you go below a certain point, they then want you to let them automatically reload money from your debit card to keep a positive balance. Really? Let me ask that again. Really? Do you think your burger joint is so important that we need to keep money sitting idle in your account so you can draw interest off of us. Stupid idea. Consider yourself lucky that I visit your establishment. I’ve deleted your app, it’s useless to me.

Where’s the thousand island?. App seems okay but can you please add an option for thousand island? AND an option to have extra condiments on the side? The steak n shakes where i live put thousand island on the sandwich. I would like to have that option. I won’t be using the application because I can’t customize my sandwich properly...might as well just order there since I’ll have the option.

Don’t change your pickup time!. Usually when I use the app everything is ready to go and I enjoy it for the most part however I attempted to change the pickup time for an order and was charged twice. I Contacted both customer service and the store and they both pointed the finger at the other and I was never refunded. This will probably be the last time I use the app however I did appreciate the five dollars in rewards

Great app. Love the look of the new redesign! Very simple to use and the addition of Apple Pay is fantastic. One small nitpicky thing is that side dipping sauces really should go under the sides/extras category. It’s super confusing to have to go to the chicken fingers meal to be able to add a side of Frisch sauce if I want to put it on my burger or dip fries.

Major issues with ”app upgrade”. I have $35 already loaded onto my card. With the previous app before the update I would be able to use this with an order through the app. With the new upgrade I now had to upload my credit card. Upon calling customer service with this issue, I was ”politely” told that this is how the app works how and the balance I have from previous can okay be used in the restaurant. If that's the option then I should be able to ”pay in-store” OR use my credit card. Not just one option!! Not cool Steak N Shake!!

Can’t Pay With It. SnS is going down the tubes because of poor service which varies widely. I’ve been lucky because the service at the one I go to the most has been okay in terms of server service but there is no getting around that the current policy of no hosts means delays getting seated — gotta wait til someone notices you standing there and even worse, no one to take your money when you want to get out of there. Or people lined up trying to pay. This review is about the app and expresses my disappointment that it cannot be used to pay for sit-down service. That was the only reason I installed it. I know they won’t spend money on table-top devices but either let us pay with the app or maybe some sort of self checkout station where you scan the ticket and pay with a card or smartphone money system. You don’t need to interact with a human for that so why make us wait for one? Getting back to the app: It is useless to me and I’m deleting it as soon as I post this.

Apps fine the service time and employees are the problem. Took exactly hour to get food from time it was ordered it then had them remake it all took additional 30 mins. When inside to pick up told her had app order she asked someone where it was they said up in the window waited 45 mins for her to come back give me the already bagged food made then make it fresh took additional 30 mins time to get and it was still freaking cold no napkins no plastic silverware what a joke even McDonald’s does better than this

Great but.... I love Steak and Shake, but it would be nice to be able to scan your order into your phone to go towards receiving rewards because most of the time it’s easier to just order at the drive thru than to order on the app. Also, bring back the original 2 for $3 mix and match burgers???? The new ones aren’t the best, and the old burgers that were discontinued were the burgers that made my fiancé and I fall in love with Steak and Shake.

What’s the point of having rewards if you can’t redeem them?. Why glorify the use of points and redeeming them for five dollar reward increments when you can’t even use them in the new app update??? I will never change the one star review until you can actually use the rewards in the app how pathetic you create a new app and it doesn’t even work right. Maybe try testing the new app before launching it because this is pathetic I’m going to Steak ‘n Shake a lot less I’ll because of this dumb app not working. Sad.

It’s a Scam!. Always says there’s a problem scanning the codes on receipts. This is the 5th one that hasn’t worked and they all say they don’t know anything about the app. Customers Can only have a shake every 14 days but that’s not true. It’s been a month since I got a shake on the survey and says a family member already got a shake. I have no family members that use my account. If they allowed me another survey it would be thumbs down because of these problems. And Some of the register people won’t even give you a valid receipt. They lie and say if you get a shake on the survey your not allowed a receipt which is a lie because I got a second survey after buying a Shake survey before. And I got a discount from points once long ago and got a divert receipt but then was told if you get a discount you don’t get a receipt. I’m tired of the app and the lies. I want to ask around to find out if it’s happening to others also.

Worker at St. Louis location. There’s a guy who’s an amazing cook at your St. Louis and National location. His names Kyle and he’s getting ready to leave for a different job because Steak and Shake isn’t paying their workers enough. This is a location where a lot of college students under influence go for late night snacks and hardly ever tip. Moral of the story you should raise your pay to the guys working the grill for ya. Let’s make this happen.

On-line Ordering. This on-line ordering experience has been great! It has been forever since I last ordered because previously the on-line ordering process was cumbersome and frustrating. It is now much more user friendly. I expect to begin ordering again much more frequently. Thank-you.

The best of everything!!!. From the staff to the food to everything in between this Steak ‘n Shake location has it going on…. Usually I’ll drive to atleast Fenton before I order anything from a fast food restaurant but now with Steak ‘n Shake I feel like I’m at home!!’n thank you guys at bellfountain Steak ‘n Shake so much!!!!

Steak and Shake. My husband and I just love Steak and Shake! My husband has had a stroke so he moves very slowly. The waitresses all know us and they are wonderful to my husband! The food is good especially for the price and we live about a mile from the restaurant! There are many restaurants here as it is around a mall but our choice is Steak and Shake!

What’s the point. I ordered through the app so I could go inside and pick it up quickly without having to wait in drive thru. Guess what? Drive thru only at 6 pm. They claim to be open inside but close it at their own discretion. This could be solved by simply notifying me before ordering that it is drive thru only. So now I waited in drive thru line and food is cold because it was made 15 min ago. Fix it please or I’ll have to find somewhere else to go during my limited lunch break!

What is this mess?. The app absolutely refuses to open for me on my device. I’ve tried restarting my phone, deleting the app and redownloading it all for nothing! It just sits on the title screen and never progresses past that point! I just wanted to use my birthday reward they emailed me about… I attempted to use the website to place an order but that refuses to work either. Sure it would let me place an order but I can’t redeem anything at all there either. So if I want Steak N Shake I guess it’s in person ordering only for me.

Still one star till the fix. Apps going dow the drain fast. They fixed the nagging rate me problem but now I have to carry cash to tip the wait staff because they took away the option to tip. Oh and check your settings because they added an auto refill in the settings so if you have it linked to Apple Pay or a card it will auto refill. Nice feature but maybe it should default to disabled and let the user decide to turn refill on. I thought this app was suppose to make things easier to eat at S&S.

Enhancements. Finding locations is a challenge in app it is by address not by city and state. Would be easier. I like the pay from app and it keeps track of rewards. It automacticly uses rewards on your next order but I can tell if it uses all or if my order is below reward balance does it leave difference for next order.

No A La Carte Section!. I’ve always loved Steak n’ Shake and the app layout. The only thing that I didn’t like was the fact that there were no options to really customize your burger if you ordered in the app. (Which was present in the old app) This morning, woke up to the new and approved app, which again looks awesome and easy to navigate. And guess what.....you can even customize your food now, which is a big A++ for me. HOWEVER!! For some reason, they decided to remove the A LA CARTE section, which is a big no no for me!! I’m not a huge fry guy, so most of the time I order, it’s without the fries! The only options available is to order a burger WITH fries, which I won’t do because they will just be wasted. Unless I’m missing something here....... Come on Steak n’ Shake and add the A LA CARTE back to the app PLEASE!!!

Food app. Says u can order online & bypass customers who is in the ordering process. However my food will be paid for & I would still have to wait. They will pull people while not busy to kee the window clear but when busy & or have a customer like me we sit & wait. Love the food need more educated employees.

Store Temporarily Unavailable. I used the app a couple of times and was earning reward points. Suddenly the location I was using started showing up as temporarily unavailable. So did a couple others in a large radius. They have been temporarily unavailable now for over 3 months. I order at the store now so I’m getting cheated out of my rewards points. I ask at the store and I have emailed corporate and called corporate. No response to either. I’m to the point now that I will no longer visit the store until the app allows me to order again. So long Steak ‘n Shake.

Maybe a bad day!. I don’t get out very much so I was a little disappointed when I went to Steak ’n Shake tonight. in my order had ketchup put on it which I never asked for I don’t like it, and when we got home I also found out we weren’t given the cookies. Am I supposed to go 30 miles round-trip to retrieve the forgotten cookies and complain about ketchup? In addition, I can’t make complaint without a nickname and I can’t get a nickname that’s either not taken or is short enough to be excepted. Crazy Susie was already taken as well. And now I’ve been trying for several minutes to find a nickname to post my comment but they’re all taken.

Needs some help. TERRIBLE customer service. Order online and you still have to wait. Wait goes up to 30 minutes sometimes. ...even on a Wednesday evening. 3 girls mopped the floor while the rest of the staff struggled to keep up with orders. Waitress was the shake person and the waiter so wait time for EVERYTHING was ridiculous! I used to work here years ago and it ran like a machine. What happened?

Can’t add debit card. I went through adding a whole order for the family and when it was time to add the debit card for payment, I could not click on the save button. I had to just go in and order at kiosk. The app is a waste of time.

Won’t recognize barcode. The first couple of times I use the app, it completely works fine! I had no problem entering the barcode from the receipt onto the app, because we usually go through the drive-through. However, the last couple of times that we have been, when I try to scan the barcode it says that it is not valid and when I try to enter the number it says it’s not valid. Basically makes the app useless for me.

Disappointed. After sending numerous emails and having conversations with persons on the other end I would have thought by now you could’ve added Jacksonville, North Carolina to your app. Apparently that is too difficult to do. It also appears that you cannot go into the store and order a meal and get any kind of credit toward free food. That is really a shame considering I cannot order it all from the app. Very frustrating & very disappointed.

Painful to use. The process for customizing sandwiches is horrible. I was ordering a bacon cheeseburger, and it showed three categories with check marks (toppings, cream toppings, and on the side). There was no way to see what was selected inside the categories without first removing the check mark for the category, which then deselected everything inside. It practically forced me to sign up for the rewards club then offered me a free shake, but when I tried to apply it to my order (which contained a shake) it said I could not use it.

Useless. This new app has been horrendous. The old one worked well, I could use my rewards easily. This app is basically useless. Issues redeeming rewards and I cannot make an online or pick up order at all. It freezes at checkout every time. At this time in the world if your app doesn’t allow online ordering you won’t last. Seeing so many steak n shakes go away or go down to basically a kiosk and under staffed is very sad. It used to be my favorite place and I can see they won’t be around much longer. Another childhood favorite that will disappear.

Rewards. I cannot use my rewards or my birthday dinner reward through the app. First it gives me an error saying I have tried to redeem an offer to many times and says I have to wait 3 hours to try again. Then I have $10 available in rewards but says I have to place an order of more than $7 due to delivery limits. My location doesn’t even offer delivery and I didn’t choose delivery. Very frustrating I can’t use my earned rewards before they likely will expire. This needs corrected.

Online order isn't any faster. I really like that you can order ahead on line, but it doesn't cut down on your wait time. You still have to go to the drive up mic, tell them you ordered online, and wait behind all the other vehicles in front of you. The whole point of ordering ahead is to NOT wait in line & get your food faster. Maybe they should look into pick up parking spots??

Glitch ridden. The new app is just not as good as the old. Does not keep track of money spent or points earned accurately. You find out how much is left in your account when paying bill. Very awkward. Update: Just visited a newly remodeled store. App not accepted. Rewards not accepted. Talked to manager. He was unaware of problems with app. Showed him.

Solid app. Overall, this is very simple app to use. The menu streamlines to make the process very easy. The only negative is that there’s no way to add notes to an item. We had a burger in our order that wanted lettuce. There’s no way to add that with the selections available and no ability to add a note. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if all items were available to choose.

Left alone. After standing at the door for a few minutes. We we taken to our table. We were there at 3:50pm so it was not busy. After awhile we were got out waitress and ordered. Drinks and food came out at a decent time. Half way through our I was ready for a refill on my drink. No one around to help us. We sat there for 15 minutes before I seen the waitress and I had to ask for more to drink. Food was good service was sad.

Makeover = greed. Used to love this app & the convenience of being able to link the app to my credit card & pay the exact amount of my bill. New app now requires me to pre load a gift card in $25 increments in order to use the app to pay. So I load up $25, buy $10 worth of food, & you get to “hold on” to that extra $15 until next time. Multiply that by tens of thousands of users & that’s a tidy sum of cash up front to draw interest on. When you had the old functionality & switch it to this, that is the only possible explanation. Sure I could just reach in my wallet for my card & pay that way, but it’s the principle of the thing.
