Our developers squashed a few bugs for this newest version and carefully polished the app from the inside out, so now its true colors can shine through! Most changes happened below the surface, but don't worry: we're building new features to share with you, soon!
All the possible books from the trial needed an upgrade, except articles you could already find online. Trying to end the trial to avoid paying the annual subscription had me going through their website, the app and iTunes. They are very efficient to start your free trial but make all they can so that you are unable to end it.
Ap freezes constantly. Thought I found a replacement for Audible. Nope. Skip this one folks. You’ll just be irritated by the continued freezes! *Advise on directions to refund this or cancel any further “automatic yearly renewals”!
I’ve never wanted to use an app so badly. Unfortunately the app simply does not work. I started the trial and the subscription activated in my Apple ID. But the app never gave me access. Customer support was useless. Too bad...
App constantly cuts out while on Bluetooth. “Blinks” sometimes stop and restart on their own.
I still can’t believe this app hasn’t been optimized for the iPhone X. The whole purpose of having a subscription model is to keep the app update and support the developer, I personally canceled my subscription because I refuse to pay for wonky software. Will revisit once they decide to do something about the newest phone optimization. Apple gave developers months to update their apps and yet here we are. Can’t believe even free apps are optimized and not this.
This time it crashes when I click a tag. I don’t recall any version of this app without major bugs. How hard is it to fix a few bugs in such a simple app?! We are paying a lot of money for this. Great service but the app is just very annoying.
Overview of library is difficult to navigate. Crashes when filtering by tag
I stopped in the middle of what is my tenth book in the first day I started the trail to write this review. I tried Skimm and Instareads before as well, and having compared the same books on Instareads and Blinkist, I can tell you, Blinkist is MUCH better than Instareads. It’s like this: Instareads gives you bullet points of information, which comes off very robotic. Blinkist, on the other hand, has a voice of its own, and it adds much of a human feel to the summaries. If you’re a summary enthusiast like myself, you probably know that usually consistent with Pareto’s Principle, 80% of the book can be condensed down to 20% of its content. Blinkist does an excellent job at it, and I am fully enjoying my trial week thus far. I guess it helps that I deleted Instagram and this has now been my obsession instead — a much more edifying one, without a doubt. It is a steep price for the subscription, but I’ve “blinked” 10 books already in one day (I’m a very average pace reader, by the way), which probably would have amounted to more than the subscription fee. As my dad always says, “Money spent on books is never wasted.” I sincerely love Blinkist, and I really pray that others will recognize it too for more than being a pricey subscription. Thank you Blinkist!
Don’t know who I’m more frustrated by, Blinkist “customer service” who refuses to take accountability and honor their promo code (despite me sending them a screenshot) OR their 30 day no questions money back guarantee (as of the date of this review I’m at eight days) or Apple’s ping pong game Of saying that I need to go directly to Blinkist. Not only did they automatically signed me up for their most expensive plan, but didn’t honor the promo code that I followed to hear about them in the first place. Now i’m stuck with a service I’m not interested in and don’t use, an unauthorized charge on my credit card for $79.99 and a handful of emails and wasted time going back and forth between representatives who refuse to step up and resolve this. I was offered a 50% off next year‘s renewal, but I won’t be using it.
You need a paid subscription to make this app worth taking up space on your device. Just get a library card. You'll be much cooler, and you'll save money! Since I see the developers are very much listening to these reviews (kudos for that!), I would suggest maybe taking away a few of those pesky green locks outside of my 7-day free trial (which experience has taught us consumers is double-speak for "Don't click this or you'll have as hard a time cancelling as you did your BMG Music subscription back in the 90s."). I think your UI is the bee's knees, and it would be a shame to see it all go to waste in this sea of apps we have found ourselves adrift in. Much love, peace, and success.
Love the app. But once you are listening to a title it’s not possible to search for other titles without the audio stopping. It would be great if the audio is continuous no matter if your searching or out of the app etc. I’m constantly thinking of other books to add to my list whilst I’m listening to a blink but I’m unable to go and search for that title without the audio stopping and losing place in what I’m currently listening to.
Charged subscription without being able to access content - stuck in constant loop of being asked to upgrade AFTER being charged. No discernible help to contact to resolve issue either. Beware of using this app
I love love LOVE this app! Like the very buggy review, I have to agree, half way through a book I’ll think I’m waiting on it to go to the next Blink and I’m left with silence and have to press play again. Awesome idea though, just a few quick fixes needed to make this one of the best apps ever!
Bad design, super buggy, poor support. Looking forward to a good competitor
Downloaded the app and subscribed to the free trial period, 6 days later see that I have been charged 124 AUD without authorisation.
I would give this app 5 stars if it could only do what it is meant to do without glitches. Unfortunately the app crashes far too often when highlighting even with that latest updates installed. If they clean up functionality I will change my review but until then i can only give it 3 stars.
Great interface, easy to use and awesome content. I was trialing by using the free audio blink per day and it really left me craving more so I went for the premium subscription. One thing I would love is more languages - namely Spanish. Also a bit nit-picking but a lot of the images for blink look like cheesy stock images. Would be nice to have their original book artwork or something more designed. Still five stars as the content so far is great.
Really like this app, but you can't pay monthly. That's not fair for those people who don't have the money.
A fantastic way to get insights into the concepts from many of the worlds best selling non-fiction books. The podcasts are great too.
Could be very useful when running with the book
I thought Blinkist sounded interesting and paid for a month's subscription. I started reading a few books, but found all of them to be terrible reading experiences. An average book has been distilled to about 10 pages or so of content - which is so short that all meaning has been reduced to gibberish. I tried reading Daniel Coleman's Emotional Intelligence, and you could tell that if Blinkist stopped trying to hard to squeeze the book into fifteen minutes they might be able to probe a little deeper into the meaning of the book, but as the content stood it was meaningless. Wouldn't recommend this service.
This app is awesome. I can now read all the books I es wanted to without send all the time I did t want to.
This app provides you with quick easy to understand and apply to your daily life ideas. I recommend to anyone trying to increase the value/quality of life. Anyone speaking to improve their life.
I wanted to read summaries of great books because I just don’t have the time for long texts. But I saw there were so many one star reviews so I stayed away. Then I decided to read the one star review. They were either 1. Why doesn’t this app offer free content or 2. Why don’t I get a refund for canceling early? Jeez people! The policies are clearly state and they have to make money somehow. Otherwise people would purchased a 5 dollars a month service and copy all the content. Love this app. It’s great to fit a bit between classes.
Having read some of the books that have come through on the daily feed I know that the Blinkist isn't comprehensive of all the points a book makes. But it DOES excise all the stories, examples, case studies and such that I often skip over to get the meat of the book quickly. Plus, these information snacks help me know if I want to read the full book. I'm a fan.
So. It seems that, just like everyone else that was trusting enough to believe you can still get something for free, I as well, was reminded how inaccurate that naivety so often is. I did so this time using BLINKEST's app, in a matter of moments. You guys represent the philosophy of empowerment through information, yet offer none. Thanks for summarizing the fact that your app is a complete & total waste of time, unless of course, you, as someone interested in a free app, is willing to drop some coin. So to summarize, if you've got money to throw away, to ha ve things summarized for you, either hire a personal data, or systems analyst, or, if you don't have that kind of money, like myself, I'd strongly recommend that you get a readers digest subscription. Needless to say, investing with these cons is unadvisable at best. Hears an idea BLINKEST, start offering up a dozen free articles, once a week, to non-paying members. Who knows? You may even get yourself a summarized good review that wasn't the only one clearly written by yourself. I'd say one of your employees, but let's keep things on the level. The fact that my current qualm is your complete misrepresentation in the non-existent free service you're advertising here. Other than that Bravo! Excellent app. I'd give it 43 stars if that was possible... out of 1000 obviously.
The advertised 30 day money back guarantee only applies to website purchases and not to any purchase made on apple or google app stores. This is frustrating and a rip off.
Bottom line: Pay $80 right now or $13 a month for as long as you want. Sure, I'll just add that to the kindle unlimited and audible monthly payments, just to name 2, and I'll just work to read
